the maya and osiris parallels continue to fuck me up. Both of them reaching across timelines to save their partners and while Maya won't stop until she finds the right Chioma, the perfect one that will agree with her vision for the universe, the "real" Chioma, and will throw away any version of her that isn't perfect, Osiris broke time for the chance to save Saint-14, and it didn't matter to him which Saint it was, because to him they're all the "real" Saint

tbh my main fear rn is not destiny dying (i think its too big of an IP to just... die like that), it's destiny becoming not-for-me
i feel like i played myself even getting invested in this game now lol i play mostly for the story (i enjoy the gameplay a lot, but i'm never grinding for anything, be it titles, weapons, armor, etc) and it SEEMED to me, as someone who got into the game in march 2023, that the story was getting MORE focus. comparing shadowkeep to the final shape or even lightfall feels unfair from a story & mission design perspective bc shadowkeep sucks ass at both (despite having a very good beginning and ending, most of the campaign is just not it imo). so to me it felt very "wow they sure got a lot better at doing campaigns, that's so cool, im excited for whats next" and whats next at the time was the final shape. which i loved. so onward and upward, etc.
except we apparently aren't getting more expansions. which, okay, doesnt necessarily mean things will get worse storywise. i usually do not care for the extra stuff they drop with expansions (i would have loved the final shape just the same if they hadnt released the dread, prismatic, the new strike or whatever the new pathfinder system is, for example) so as long as they give me a cool story with cool missions i'm good. it doesn't even need to be in a new destination.
but. i mean, everything else we are hearing about the story content sounds bad to me. i was already a bit wary of episodes bc they were sold to us as self contained but the idea that content packs, whatever they are, will be smaller in scope and less related to each other turns me off BADLY. i dont like the villain of the week style of storytelling, which is what episodes look like to me (so far). if content packs are just episodes in new destinations, im not sure i will stay interested in the story at all. and that just sucks lol
like i know people loved into the light but i didnt care for it. i didnt hate it either, it was fine. but if thats the level of story we can expect from the non-content pack stuff... well. i might as well just watch the banter (and cutscenes? if there are any?) on youtube. its not worth it for me in the end.
was this game just never for me and now its more obvious? idk. i loved the story and the characters to bits. i love the lore. i always thought the seasonal storytelling was flawed bc it got better when played/watched at once instead of drip-fed, but i was okay with how things were in the year of lightfall. i liked, even loved, most of it. and now it feels like they are just going to cut every single corner possible when it comes to storytelling.
thats how it FEELS, not what it will be, i know. i will probably stick around to check whatever frontiers is. but im not hopeful at all and that sucks bc while ppl were losing their minds over lightfall i was very happy and excited for the future. rip

The weekly lore book is so funny with Guardian reports. Love these two justifying why they didn't kill the enemy:
Instead of opening fire, it juked backwards and ran. I've never seen a Vex run before, and honestly, I was so surprised, I missed my shot.
+
Saw a big ol' Vex Minotaur hanging out in the shallows. It was far downrange, but it looked like it was leaking data or something from its neck. I fired before my Box Breathing kicked in, so it wasn't a kill shot.
This one got me. I sure do know what you mean:
The Minotaurs were being really defensive, staggering their shields to cover each other. If you've ever gone up against a team of Titans in Crucible, it was like that.
This one is so relatable:
The necklace Vex were wiped out and the others ripped the radiolaria cores from the bodies and took them back through the portal鈥攐r they would have, if I hadn't Thundercrashed the whole group.
Thundercrash!!!!
But outside of the funny bits, I am really looking hard at the little details. The changes in individual Vex, for example:
The thing must've caught a glint off my optics because it looked right at me.
+
It looked back at me, then it popped its own juice box and dumped itself into the radiolaria.
+
Anyway, when I moved in to make sure they were dead, I saw little model buildings in the dirt. I'm telling you, they'd been building sandcastles.
+
Right as I was about to draw, the Hobgoblin waved its hand at me. I figured it was signaling an ambush and I looked around, but it didn't have any backup. It waved again, and I gave it a little wave back鈥擨 didn't see the harm. Well, it got real excited at that and waved with both arms.
+
It was creeping through the branches and making a little noise鈥攁lmost like it was laughing, if that makes sense?
There's also a strange focus on singling out Precursors and how othey don't appear to have the collars:
One of those sleek Precursor models was leading a group of normal Vex Goblins. The Goblins all had glowing collars, but the Precursor didn't.
+
Saw them clearly before I engaged: some Precursors mixed in with Nessus Vex. Nessus ones had the glowing mantles from the reports, but the Precursors didn't.
What does it all mean.

New Osiris lore dropped. So in Enigma Protocol mission, the comms are done by text in the upper left side of the screen. It's mostly just Failsafe, Osiris and Saint texting. And I got the best one today.
Saint spilling the secrets????? SAINT? OSIRIS SINGS??????

So what's going on with the music references in Echoes. I am losing my mind.
I noticed right away when I was looking at triumphs like this:
Then the seasonal weapon is this smg:
It has a really interesting lore tab as well, seemingly about the Veil? And how it affects (?) people through sound? The name is a musical thing as well.
But then also the Vex, a lot of "choral" stuff:
And then the Greek naming stuff, still musical:
Aulete is a person who plays the aulos, a type of an instrument from Ancient Greece that resembles a flute.
Kitharode (kitharodes is plural, since there's multiple of these) is a person who plays the kithara, also an instrument.
Rhapsoidos is person that performed epic poetry in Ancient Greece, which were originally performed as a song.
The seasonal exotic ship's name ("semitone shift") is also a musical term. And the raid exotic is... well. Whatever is going on here (the name "euphony" means something that sounds good/nice).
Like, I understand a theme. But also why. Especially because the Vex appear to be changing in some way and acting differently so something is affecting them... musically? Very interested in the lore tab on Perfect Pitch because of the involvement of the Veil, but I can't for not figure out what that's supposed to mean or connect to.
What are they cooking.
