Baby party time!
Tumblr media
The chicks are big enough now to jump out of their brooder when the lid’s closed, so I’ve been letting them explore and hang out with me while I’m in there with them. These two (the Partridge Rock and one of the Barred Rocks), plus the Jersey Giant chick, are very cuddly and curious! Both the Blue and Black Australorps are sweet too, although they seem to have trouble figuring out how to get in and out of the brooder on their own lol. The other Barred Rock likes to jump out and explore, but isn’t a huge cuddler like her sister. The Barnevelder likes cuddling and will lie down and close her eyes when I pet her on the back, but she seems a bit runty and can’t jump out yet. Her feathers are growing more slowly too. Poor thing, she was shivering awfully when I first got her so I’m worried that might have affected her somehow. And lastly, the Speckled Sussex is absolutely terrified of me, so that’s too bad. Maybe she’ll chill out when she gets older. Oh well, I’m just over the moon with how sweet my babies are, it’s amazing how much of a difference it makes when you spend lots of time socializing with the chicks when they’re small. I didn’t hold or touch the Faverolles a lot when they were babies, I was honestly scared of hurting or scaring them, so even though they like hanging out with me now they still hate being picked up or petted. At almost two weeks old, the faverolles chicks were much more skittish than my current group are, so I hope that’s a good sign!
Anyway, here’s the Jersey Giant chick being an absolute Baby (she fell asleep like this.) Look at her little tail!

The night the war officially ended was something Ahsoka never wanted to forget.
She stood on the command bridge with Rex by her side, when a holo came through. She sucked in a breath as her soul twanged with an odd feeling, like a sense of deja vu. Ahsoka turned to Rex, who was unbothered by the unfamiliar wave of emotions that had flooded her.
Together they walked over to accept the call, met by the grinning face of Obi-Wan. Ahsoka raised an eyebrow as she instinctively and subconsciously poked at their bond, met with a wave of delighted warmth. Hope sparked in the pit of her stomach.
“I have excellent news,” Obi-Wan greeted them and Rex and Ahsoka exchanged a hopeful glance, the corner of Rex’s lip tilted up ever so slightly. “Grievous has been defeated, Dooku has been captured.”
“That means,” Rex turned to the holo, a small smile creeping onto his face. Obi-Wan laughed before answering.
“Yes, Captain. The war is over.”
The galaxy seemed to freeze as Ahsoka stared at the holo, her lips forming a smile. From the moment she’d completed her first mission, Ahsoka knew her destiny was to fight in this war, to fight beside Anakin Skywalker. Whether she died, it didn’t matter. She was just another death, another number.
But now, the war is over.
There was no more fighting.
A single tear fell from her eye, like a diamond in the sea.
A howl of glee rang through the air as Rex tackled Ahsoka in a long awaited hug, burying his face in the crook of her neck. He laughed loudly, tears spilling down his face. Ahsoka fell from her shock as she returned the hug, gripping him just as tightly - if not tighter - and crying as jubilation filled her.
Cheers of rejoice echoed throughout the ship as the holo turned off, leaving Ahsoka and Rex to sob with exuberance. They laughed and they cried, they danced and they sang. The ship wasn’t quiet for even a moment for the rest of the trip.
Jesse came to Ahsoka one night, begging for a buddy to sleep with. He was anxious after the ending of the war, and of course, he came with Fives in tow. The three of them gathered as many blankets and pillows as possible, before calling most of Torrent Company to join the cuddle pile.
Ahsoka slept better that night than she had in years.
When they finally reached Coruscant, the entire planet was bright and alive, cheers and celebrations everywhere the eye could see. Ahsoka practically fell out of the ship trying to get to her family quickly.
Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padme were awaiting her at the bay, and she was immediately brought into a hug by Anakin. More tears were shed, more laughs were spilled and more joy was expressed. None of them had imagined the pure bliss they would feel when the war ended.
The next few weeks were a nightmare for all of them, Padme in particular. The Senate was in chaos, with debt in every direction and fees to pay. But with the guiding hand of newly made Chancellor Bail Organa, the Republic was thriving.
When Bo Katan sent payment for Ahsoka assisting in freeing Mandalore of Maul, Ahsoka immediately sought an apartment. She found a good, temporary one on the middle levels of Coruscant.
Rex followed her everywhere, and without hesitation, she let Fives and him live with her for a bit.
She quickly remembered neither of the Clones had civilian clothes, and found great entertainment in assisting them as they shopped. She did the same with Jesse when he turned up at her door at three in the morning days later with the realisation he had nowhere to live.
For about a month, the four lived together in a smaller than appreciated apartment, and the stories that came from their time together were endless. One night, someone tried to break in.
“Do you hear something?” Jesse whispered to Fives as he blinked at the darkness surrounding them. Fives yawned and murmured a ‘no’. “Rex?”
The former Captain rolled over to face his brothers, eyelids drooping from sleepless nights. They all slept very well on their mattresses on the floor, but sometimes it was too comfortable. “The creak?”
“Yeah,” Jesse breathed out, sitting up. He shuffled to his feet - ignoring Fives’ groan - and tiptoed out of their room and into Ahsoka’s. He knocked on the door, waiting for a response. “Vod’ika?”
“Hmm?” Ahsoka hummed in response, and Jesse stepped into her room. She watched him carefully, exhaustion clear on her features. “Yea-”. She didn’t even finish as she suddenly jolted upright and leaped from the bed, pushing past Jesse.
He gaped.
Ahsoka raced into the main room - Jesse hurrying behind her - and lunged forward, tackling something. Just one glimpse and Jesse realised that his sister had tackled what looked like a human figure, clothed in all black.
He leaped forward to help, but didn’t get the chance.
Ahsoka kneed the figure in the groin and punched their face repeatedly, sending them down to the floor with another swift kick. She reached up and hastily ripped the black mask off their face, revealing a teenaged human boy.
He had wavy and curling soft black hair that fell over the right side of his face, bluish green eyes and light skin. He coughed as blood dripped from his nose, wincing and holding his hands up. “I surrender, ori’haat.”
“Who are you?” Jesse snarled, moving to stand beside his sister. Rex and Fives were behind them, having rushed out when they heard the fight.
“Shabuir,” the boy cursed, tears welling in his eyes from being hit so many times. A twang of guilt rushed through Jesse before he pushed it down. “Fenrir Wixx, that’s me.” He was breathless and panting as he struggled to sit up slightly.
“What do you want?!” Rex growled, pulling Ahsoka behind him. The boy let out a choked, rasping laugh that sent shivers down Jesse’s spine.
“What do you think I’m doing?!” Fenrir snapped, the smirk he was wearing turning sharp and cold. “Committing theft… Please?”
“Did you just ask us to let you steal our stuff?” Fives spluttered.
“Yes.”
“Wha-why?!”
“Well, my mam always says, ‘Be polite, Fen!’ And so I thought it was worth a shot!”
Ahsoka, Rex, Jesse and Fives all exchanged a glance before sighing.
“And why are you stealing?” Ahsoka asked, relaxing her fighting stance.
Fenrir scoffed. “Well, I’m broke.”
The four exchanged glances again, before Rex sighed, reaching hand forward to pull the boy to his feet. A grateful smile crossed Fenrir’s face. None of them noticed the look of disappointment and frustration that flashed across Fenrir’s face.
“Thanks,” he murmured, suddenly uncomfortable. He knew he had no right to be uncomfortable when he’d tried to steal from them, but he couldn’t exactly change how he felt. “I’ll be going now.”
As the boy turned to leave through the window he’d come through, Jesse stepped in front of him. “We’re not just gonna let you go!”
Fenrir looked between the four before nodding and stepping away. But when Jesse relaxed and moved from the window, the boy raced towards the window. He leaped through the open area, avoiding the class around him as he did.
Behind him, the four raced to the window, watching him fall down the building, legs and arms spread out as he did. Fenrir fell and fell and fell, and when he was finally nearing a platform that would kill him upon impact, he twisted and slowly landed on the platform, the boosters on his boots activated.
The four gaped as he looked up at them, so far away they couldn’t see his features. But they did see the tiny wave he gave them before running off.

Mad and Anti interrupting Dark and Mare’s meeting with a client with a pout and wearing their hoodie/sweatshirt. They want comfort and cuddles and the older two continue the meeting while they comfort the other two.
Welp…I couldn’t resist. I’ve been struggling with writing this afternoon/evening, and this is what gets me to go XD ------------------
“Payment is to be done with cash, as stated on page three,” Dark stated, gesturing to the stack of paperwork in front of the client. He and Mare sat on one end of the large meeting table while the client was at the other.
“You’re welcome to write out any specifics you would like done on pages five and six,” Mare added. “The more complicated, the more you will be expected to pay. Time and skill take money after all.” He softly chuckled.
“Oh…okay.” The client was a young man. Younger than they were used to working with, swallowed and nodded, reading over the contract. Dark had a good feeling about what was going to be asked of them and kept himself much kinder than he tended to be with clients.
“Take your time with reading it, there is no rush.” He watched the client nod again, seeming to appreciate the softer approach.
“Did you bring the-” Mare’s question stopped at the door to the room opening. Neither of them expected to see Mad and Anti enter the room, well, Anti entered the room, and Mad stayed at the door, peeking in and watching. What really stuck out was what they were wearing. Anti wore one of Dark’s hoodies while Mad had on one of Mare’s, the fit of the hoodies was a big giveaway. They also seemed to be wearing…only hoodies, or at least it appeared as such.
“Do you two need something?” Dark asked, somehow able to keep his composure. Mare, on the other hand, was definitely staring with a big grin. Anti didn’t say anything. He just made a pouting sound and crawled himself into Dark’s lap. When Mad saw that Anti wasn’t told to leave, he came in and did the same to Mare.
“Uh…sh-should I leave?” The client asked, the pink on his cheeks showing that he was flustered about all of this.
“We’ll wrap this up quickly.” Dark wrapped an arm around Anti and rubbed circles on the center of his back. Anti made a soft sound of approval and nuzzled himself against Dark’s chest. “Write down the full name, birth date, and any other personal information you can think of for your chosen target on page four.”
“O-Okay.” The client looked down at the paper and awkwardly filled out the page.
“After that, you can fill out the specifics part and leave behind your picture of the target,” Mare said as one hand held Mad’s waist and the other, hidden by the table, was on Mad’s thigh with his thumb rubbing against the soft skin. Mad had his face tucked away into the crook of his neck.
“You guys-uh-you can do whatever.” The client cleared his throat. He got the information down quickly, signing his name on the last page and setting the picture atop the pile.
“Any questions?” Dark asked.
“Nope. All good. You can-You can take care of your partners now.” He awkwardly gave two thumbs up before softly scolding himself for being ‘weird’. “Bye.” The client waved that time and rushed out of the room.
“What’s got you two like this?” Dark asked, hand slipping under the hoodie Anti was wearing so he could touch his bare back.
“Tired,” Anti mumbled, leaning into Dark’s hand.
“Lonely,” Mad added as almost a whine, pressing himself even closer to Mare.
“I guess we have been busy.” Mare moved a hand to run it through Mad’s hair.
“That meeting didn’t last as long as expected, so we can call it an early night,” Dark suggested, showing that he did feel bad about basically ignoring Mad and Anti all day since he was never the one to suggest finishing up work early.
“Cuddles?” Anti asked.
“Yes, we can cuddle,” Dark said with a light grunt as he stood, keeping Anti in his arms.
“Movies?” Mad added.
“Of course, starlight.” Mare got up with Mad.
“Disney?” Anti softly purred as he asked, happily being carried out of the room.
“Hercules?” Mad hugged Mare’s neck and would be purring as well if he knew how to.
“Anything that you two want.” Dark held the door open with his foot for Mare and they walked together to their bedroom, both more than willing to spoil Anti and Mad for the rest of the night.

here with you // karlnaptiy x gn!reader
word count: 933
summary: lazy morning in with your boys
request?: thank u anon!!
hi!! if the anon who requested this does actually see it, i’m just taking this as an opportunity to apologize for how long this took to write despite how short it is. i’ve already explained it all in previous posts but i have had a shit ton to deal with and other things to do and things to prioritize, and i do genuinely feel guilty as fuck for leaving it until now - but here it is!!
---
Saturdays were always your favourite. You had an especially long stream every Saturday afternoon with Alex, Karl and Sapnap, so you tended to take it easy throughout the morning - much like today. You were never the first to wake up, so you weren’t surprised when you found yourself awoken by Sapnap sleepily tracing his hands up and down your back, holding you close and keeping you safe.
“Mornin’.” you murmured as you snuggled into his chest.
“Morning, love.” he mumbled just as quietly as you had, aware of the two sleeping figures tangled up in each other’s arms beside you. Sapnap lightly kissed the top of your head which caused you to smile up at him, your eyes filled with nothing but love.
You stayed cuddling Sapnap for a while longer until you heard Alex stirring to your left, watching him sit up and rub his eyes.
“What time is it?” was the first thing he asked, and Sapnap was the one to reply.
“9:26.”
“What? Fine. Night.” He stated bluntly, lying back down and closing his eyes again. You chuckled at your boyfriend’s antics, as did Sapnap; no matter how many mornings in a row you woke up to their constant affection and love, you would never get bored of it. These three men meant nothing but the world to you, the privilege of simply basking in their mere presence was enough to satisfy.
Karl was, as usual, the final one awake, looking you in the eye and giving you nothing more than a lazy smile. You leaned back in Sapnap’s arms, feeling him softly stroke his fingers through your hair, carefully untangling the knots you’d obtained overnight.
Shutting your eyes for a couple more minutes, Sapnap continued to detangle your hair while Karl got out of bed to make breakfast. Alex finally woke up again and once again asked for the time, to which Sapnap once again answered.
“It’s almost eleven, babe. Don’t go back to sleep.”
“Why not?” he teased with a smirk, sitting up and leaning against the bed frame.
“Because Karl’s making breakfast and I highly doubt you’d want to miss out on that.” Nick replied, a smirk forming on his own face as Alex’s face lit up.
It was no secret at all that Karl was the only one out of you four who was competent enough to be allowed in the kitchen at all, let alone cook. The meals he made were incredible, and you were truly glad you had him there to prevent something going terribly wrong. The scent of the meal Karl was cooking made its way around your home, your stomach rumbling as you hopped out of bed and padded into the kitchen.
“Hey, love.” you greeted your boyfriend, hugging him from behind.
“Morning, baby. How are you?” he asked softly, turning around to engulf you in a cuddle.
“Tired.” you mumbled, burying your head in the crook of Karl’s neck as he chuckled. He pecked the top of your head and cradled you for a minute or two, eventually having to turn back around to tend to the food on the hob. “Do you want me to go and wake up Sapnap and Alex?”
“No, no. I was thinking about breakfast in bed?” Karl suggested with a smile which you returned, thanking him for this and offering any help you could give, which he denied.
And so you found yourself back in the arms of Nick, Alex barely awake and scrolling through Twitter beside you. You watched him reply to George’s latest tweet with amusement; your boyfriend was hands down the funniest person you knew. Eventually, Karl walked in holding two plates and passed one to you and one to Alex, Sapnap faking an expression of anger and betrayal for the lack of breakfast he received. He thanked Karl when he came back in with two more plates, handing one to him before slipping back into bed beside Alex with a meal of his own.
The four of you dug in, making sure Karl was aware of how grateful you all were for this breakfast. It may not be a huge deal in the long run, but he’d saved you three a job and he’d also given you a reason to spend time with each other away from the glaring eye of a camera.
The breakfast was delicious to say the least, the plates and cutlery now stacked in a pile on the bedside table as a result of four lazy adults. You’d now abandoned Sapnap who was stuck with Alex in his arms, finding yourself against Karl’s chest (definitely not complaining, however). There was a comfortable silence lingering in the air and you were the one to break it, projecting your absentminded thoughts.
“Can we get a puppy?” Your boyfriends simultaneously burst out in fits of laughter, and you even found yourself giggling along with them. You were unable to explain your sudden desire for a fuzzy ball of fluff and energy, but Karl’s response definitely caught you off guard.
“I mean, we could look into it if you’d like. Having a dog may be quite fun and it may actually get us out of bed for something other than streaming.” he thought aloud, and you agreed along with Alex and Sapnap. Perhaps you’d look into it another day.
You spent the rest of the day cuddling and snuggling with your boyfriends until you had to get up and start your streams, which lasted a good few hours, the four of you aching to be back in each other’s arms.

Cuddle Puddle for Four
For the lovely anon who requested : Could I request a fic where you’re not feeling well (physically or mentally) so the Marauders come in and snuggle with you in your bed and you’re all very touchy with each other and it’s just very cute. Maybe some wolfstar and James x reader? No rat please!
Light James Potter x Reader, and light Sirius Black x Remus Lupin
Warnings : Insinuated Bipolar disorder and mental health
The moment your classes were done on Friday you retreated to your dorm room, crawling into bed, and burying yourself beneath the covers and letting yourself cry into your pillow. You felt miserable. Your week had started high, you felt like you could do anything. You were doing school work like it was a breeze, laughing, joking and being an all around joy. You were on a wonderful high. But like all good things, it came to an end, suddenly and all at once, and you entered a depressive episode. Everything hurt. Your head, your chest, your body, your soul. You wanted to crawl into a hole and die.
So you stayed in bed all weekend, alternating between looking at the ceiling and staring at the wall, a girl needed variety after all. Friday turned into Saturday and Saturday into Sunday. Your dormmates tried several times to get you to come eat with them; to do something. But you brushed them off, saying you were ill. Lily dutifully brought you food at every meal but it went untouched. You couldn’t eat. All you could do was alternate between crying pathetically and sleeping.
Finally Monday rolled around and you still didn’t leave your safe haven of a bed.
“Y/N,” Lily stuck her head into your curtains which had remained shut the entire time, she looked at you worried and you wanted her to stop. You were fine. Or at least you would be, once you were left alone. “Class is starting soon.”
“I am sick, Lily.” You muttered, not looking at her, “Tell them I don’t feel well.” Lily perched herself on the edge of your bed.
“Alright. But you should try and get up, shower, it might make you feel a bit better.” You knew she was right, Merlin, why did she always have to be right?
“Okay,” You nodded slightly, “I will,” Maybe. Lily nodded and stood from your bed, shutting your curtains again when she left, and you listened to her leave the room fully before you let out another small sob.
Down in the common room The Marauders stood waiting for Lily to reappear and when she did James jumped forward, eyes wide with worry.
“Is she okay? Is she coming to class?” He asked, and Lily shook her head. They had become mates slightly ever since he got over his crush for her and stopped bothering her all the time.
“She said she’s sick.” Everyone shared a look, knowing what that meant. They all left for lessons for the day, unable to focus as they were worried about you the entire time.
You continued to lay in bed for some hours before eventually peeling yourself from the sheets. Lily was right, you should shower. You went to the bathroom, turning the water as hot as it would go before getting in. You allowed the burning water to wash over you, even going as far as to shampoo and condition your hair. Lily would be proud. Once done, you changed into a clean pair of sleeping shorts and one of Sirius’s old oversized t-shirts before climbing back into bed, where you remained until the sun set again. Another miserable day gone by. You heard the bedroom door open and footsteps came to your bed, stopping just outside, the curtain was pulled back revealing Lily.
“Y/N,” She greeted, you nodded your head.
“Hullo.”
“The boys said they need you,” You looked slightly nervous as you sat up.
“Is everything okay?” You asked and she shrugged her shoulders.
“They said it was Marauder business and they need you in their dorm immediately.” She informed you and you sighed. You sat up and she smiled slightly at you, noticing your slightly wet hair and new pajamas. You got out of bed and pulled on a fuzzy pair of socks before going towards the door. Only a Marauders emergency could get you out of your bed at a time like this.
“I’ll be back,” You muttered before disappearing through the door, Lily let out a sigh, glad the plan had worked. You went down to the common room, not looking at anyone as you went to the boy’s staircase and up to their room. You knocked once on the door before entering. James was sitting on his bed and he grinned widely when he saw you, Sirius was laying on the floor next to Remus who was resting his head on the other boy’s shoulder.
“Y/N!” James greeted, leaping up.
“Nice shirt,” Sirius stated with a loud laugh. You mustered a small smile and looked around the room.
“Where’s the fire?”
“No fire.” James admitted, coming to stand in front of you, your face fell.
“What?”
“We just wanted to see you, make sure you were alright.” You frowned. They tricked you.
“I’m fine,” You snapped slightly, but James wasn’t deterred. “I was laying in bed. Fine.”
“Well you can do that here, too.” He assured, and the other two boys nodded eagerly. You considered your options. Go back to your dorm and lay alone in your own bed, with your own stuff, or you could lay down in James’ bed for a bit, being entertained by the people whom you loved most.
“Fine,” you sighed, “I’ll stay.” James grinned and took your hands, leading you over to his bed. You sat down and he sat beside you, putting an arm around your shoulder. You pulled the covers up from the foot of his bed, and laid down, wrapping them around you and James. James laid beside you, pulling you close to him.
“Hey, no fair, I wanna join,” Sirius said, scrambling off the floor and pulling Remus with him. How they planned on doing that was beyond you, it was a twin sized bed for Merlin’s sake. You all stood up momentarily, trying to figure out this puzzle. Eventually Sirius laid down, allowing Remus to lay across his body, James plopping down next to Sirius before pulling you on top of him. You chuckled softly and pulled the blanket over all of you, snuggling into James’ chest and wrapping an arm around Remus who hugged you back. You were a mess of limbs in the tiny bed. James wrapped both his arms around you, one hand rubbing your back as the other one played with your hair. Remus held your one hand and Sirius clung to the other, his free arm wrapped around Remus.
“We need to pull another prank soon, people are gonna think we went soft.” Sirius was the first to break the comfortable silence.
“No one is gonna think you lot went soft.” You chuckled.
“If they saw this, they would.” Remus snickered and you giggled. James and Sirius both frowned.
“We’re not soft!” James argued. You made like you were going to get up, smirking.
“Then we better stop cuddling,”
“NO!” He cried out, pulling you back down into him, pushing your head onto his chest before dropping a kiss onto the top of your head. “You’re not going anywhere.” You smiled to yourself and yawned.
“But I’m sleepy.” You whined.
“So sleep.” James mocked you, whining back.
“Here?” You asked, slightly surprised.
“Course, you’ve been hiding from us for three days now, you’re not leaving my sight.” You smiled and nuzzled your nose into the crook of his neck, planting a small kiss there.
“You’re the best, all of you.”
“I know,” Sirius grinned, reaching out to pat you on the head.
“You’re the best, dear.” Remus corrected, looking at you with warm eyes.
“Shucks, Remmy, you’ll make me blush.” You smiled.
“Of course, don’t tell the others but you’re my favorite.” James scoffed and Sirius frowned.
“I thought I was your favorite!”
“No, you’re the biggest pain in the arse,” He corrected him.
“And I’m the prettiest,” James decided, batting his eyelashes.
“And Remmy is the nicest.” You added, yawning again. James pulled the blankets tighter around you all, kissing your head again.
“Go to bed, love.” He murmured against your hair, and you yawned once more, letting your eyes fall shut.
“Only because you asked so kindly, Jamie.”
“I love when you call me that.” He smiled, resting his head on Sirius’s shoulder, who turned his head to kiss James on the side of his head before turning to kiss Remus on the top of his.
“Oi, Y/N, come ‘ere. Can’t reach you. Get your kiss goodnight.” You scoot over in the bed, craning your neck so Sirius could kiss you on the cheek before collapsing back into James.
“Goodnight, love you all.” You whispered.
“Love you too,” James murmured. Remus took your hand again and squeezed it tightly.
“I love you.” He stated.
“I love you all more,” Sirius grinned causing everyone to giggle. You were happy, for the first time in days. You drifted off into the most restful sleep you have ever had, listening to James’ heart beating beneath you. You had no idea how you got so bloody lucky, to be surrounded by the people you loved, who loved you back entirely and fiercely. You all slept like that, in one big pile of cuddling. Arms around each other, faces nuzzled into necks and crooks, legs tangled. You were the luckiest girl in the entire world.

Tumblr media
john b groaned as something woke him up. he had been deep in sleep, something he appreciated considering how many late night grocery or food runs he had to do for the residents of figure eight, when he felt someone shift as they laughed. he blearily opened his eyes to see you, sitting up with your back against his headboard and one of his arms flung across your waist, frozen with your hand clapped over your mouth. obviously you hadn't been meaning to laugh that hard.
"what are you doin' up so early?" he rasped, his voice kinda scratchy from sleep.
you smiled down at him and ran a hand through his thick hair, giggling when your fingers got all tangled up in it. "hon, it's two in the afternoon."
he lifted his head real quick and pouted when he saw that jj wasn't included in the cuddle pile. "shit, did i miss jj going off to work?"
"mhm. don't worry, though, i got some food into him and made sure he was wearing his mask. also put the fear of god into him if he didn't wash his hands throughout the day."
john b breathed out a laugh as he imagined you yelling at jj to stay safe at work. almost a year into the pandemic, and jj and john b had spent the whole time quaranting in the chateau to the best of their ability. it had been months since they had seen kie or pope in person for longer than a few minutes, and usually that was only when john b pulled up to the wreck to pick up delivery orders or when jj and john b helped pope's dad with grocery deliveries. at the beginning of everything, you had been spending quarantine with your boys since school was all online and your parents' restaurant was closed. a month or so in, however, regulations had been lifted and the people of figure eight all but demanded for them to reopen, and so you went back home to help your parents with the restaurant and to keep jj and john b safe from anything you could have possibly brought back to them.
you had practically locked them in the chateau, leaving them threatening voicemails if they even thought about going out, but as two months turned into three turned into four turned into five, you realized that the boys needed their jobs as there seemed no end in sight to the pandemic. so jj returned to his job at the country club, and john b got a job busing tables at your family's restaurant. you moved back in to quarantine with them as school started, and you spent practically your whole savings on getting a backup generator and high speed wifi for the chateau so if anything happened, you all would be good. and, despite living through a worldwide panda express, you were quite happy.
beside you, john b shifted his head to rest on your lap so he could see what you were watching on your laptop that had you laughing so hard. a smile grew on his face when he saw the puppies running around on the "football field" and jumping all over the "ref." he looked up at you and felt his chest blossom with warmth at the way you smiled at the puppies and giggled when they flopped over.
"did you really wake me up watching the puppy bowl?"
"hush up," you laughed, "it's a tradition, and you know it. 'sides, you can't tell me you aren't enjoying this as much as i am. i've seen how you and jj get with dogs. y'all may love them more than you love me."
"aw, honey, that's not true," john b cooed. "you know how much we love you. obviously i love you more since i didn't go to work during the puppy bowl, but you know, that's to be expected."
you shook your head and lightly swatted at his stomach. you knew he wasn't being serious. john b loved jj just as much as he loved you, and the feeling was mutual from jj. the three of you had a good thing going, a relationship full of understanding and compassion, and it had taken y'all a long time to get there. you all had things to work through, like jj's daddy issues, john b's abandonment issues, and your trauma from your previous relationship with rafe cameron, but you had gotten through it together, and this quarantine had actually brought y’all closer together which had surprised everyone.
“jj’s gonna be sad that he missed it,” you sighed.
“we’ll just rewatch it with him,” john b assured you. “and we can watch the old ones too.”
there was shuffling as the both of you wriggled around to get into a more comfortable position. at one point the two of you had to lunge to catch the laptop from falling to the floor, but eventually you settled in with john b curled around you and the blankets and pillows providing a sort of nest and elevated stand for the laptop. the room was filled with the soft sounds of puppy barks and whines, and your giggles when one of the dogs did something particularly cute, and john b let out a quiet sigh as he allowed himself to relax against you.
“i think we should get a dog,” you mumbled sleepily as john b clicked on last year’s broadcast. “we can add another cutie to our cuddle pile.”
there was some incoherent whining on your part before you dozed off in his arms. he did his best to focus on the puppies on the screen, but soon he too fell asleep with his face buried in the crook of your neck. that was how jj found you two when he stumbled into the room later that night as he yanked his tie from his neck. he stilled in the doorway, a soft smile pulling at his lips when he saw the two people he loved most in the world all snuggled up together. and then he saw what was pulled up on the laptop.
“oh you assholes!”
the both of you jolted awake, your hand smacking john b in the face as you moved to make sure the laptop wouldn’t fall off the bed. john b rubbed at his eyes and turned to blink up at jj.
“hey, how was work, babe?”
jj shook his head as you rolled over and made grabby hands, obviously asking for cuddles. he put his hands on his hips and frowned down at the pair of you.
“i cannot believe y’all are watching the puppy bowl without me.”
“um... in my defense,” john b started, “they were already watching when i woke up.”
“dude!” you turned your head to scowl at your boyfriend. “jj, baby, come cuddle with us, and we can turn it back on.”
as he kicked his shoes off and rifled around the dresser for comfy clothes, jj shook his head. john b let out a laugh when he realized what he was getting at.
“no can do, babe,” jj told you, smirking at john b as he let his work shirt slide off his shoulders. “the superbowl starts soon, and we’re watching it.”
you fell back on the bed and let out a loud groan. you had been hoping the boys would be too tired to watch the football game. you lifted yourself up on your elbows and glared at the two of them.
“i am legitimately only watching your stupid sportsball for the weeknd. after that i will be passing the fuck out.”
jj laughed and wrapped his arms around you as he flopped down between you and john b. you couldn’t keep your glare on your face when you felt your cheek hit his bare chest. you had missed him all day. there were a few laughs and giggled--and a couples groans of pain--as the three of you got all comfortable on the queen sized bed. finally you and john b sandwiched jj, john b spooning the blonde boy as you nestled in within the warmth of jj’s arms.
“don’t he kiss his kid on the mouth?” you mumbled as one of the players ran out on the field.
a wheeze left jj’s chest as john b shouted his laugh out, causing you to smirk. you had absolutely no clue as to what was happening in the game, or even had any idea as to who the teams were, because like you told the boys, you were only watching for the weeknd concert, and you were getting more and more anxious waiting for it.
“wait, i thought both teams were supposed to be good. why does one team already have like three touchdowns and the other doesn’t have any?”
“honey,” john b said, attempting to hold in his laugh, “just watch and enjoy the game.”
you rolled your eyes, making jj smile fondly. “hon, how am i supposed to enjoy a game i don’t even understand?”
“do you want us to explain?” jj offered sweetly.
“absolutely not. i appreciate it, baby, but i’m too pretty for that.”
jj snickered and pressed a kiss into your hair. “of course you are, babe.”
you nuzzled your nose against his collarbone and tugged your hand from between the boys to gently scratch at john b’s scalp. a hum rumbled deep within the brunette’s chest at the action.
“i love y’all,” you whispered into jj’s skin. “even if y’all make me watch football.”
“well we love you too,” jj returned with a kiss to your cheek and john b’s arm.
“even if you make us watch the weeknd,” john b teased.
“hey! you better appreciate abel or i swear i’m moving out!”

Time
Star: Jung Jinsoul (Loona)
Idea: ➶No
Days and nights has been hard, but distance would truly test your love. Has she Got what it takes?
Tumblr media
Jinsoul couldn’t wait.
She didn’t know if she could contain herself. Sitting in her van, she bounced her feet on the carpeted floor. Even her manager could sense the joy coming out of the idol. It was practically radiating off her.
The way she smiled, while her eyes darted from the surroundings outside the window, she didn’t know what to look at that would lower her excitement.
Some would question her, wondering why she was so energized at three am. Was it because she was relieved to be off schedule? Or was it because she got to eat tteokbokki before she left?
As the van stopped across the street from an apartment, she didn’t wait any longer, taking her bag, and sprinted out. Thanking her manager as she ran as fast as she could.
From the door of the apartment, you came out, sporting a black coat while you looked at the ground, not paying any mind to your surroundings, but when you felt a sudden force knock into you, an apology was the first thing you planned to say to the person you had hit.
But when you felt arms wrapping around your body and a familiar scent of cologne, a smile replaced the worried look before hugging back.
"Did you just get here?" you muttered, nuzzling your cheek against the top of her head while Jinsoul pushed her head towards the crook of your neck.
You rested your chin against the top of her head. Seeing the black van, you waved at it. More of greeting her manager before it drove away,
"We've just arrived," she replied, her hug tightening before you turned around, almost carrying the girl inside until the doors to the elevator opened.
Jinsoul pulled away, keeping her hand intertwined with yours as you got inside the lift.
When both of you got back to your apartment, it was quiet, with only your stack of papers on the table that you had left, planning to finish them tomorrow before submitting them to your parents.
All you wanted, for now, was to be with Jinsoul in the quiet night, which was perfect as Jinsoul whisked you away to the bedroom, jumping to your bed while hugging you, trying her best to remove the space in between you two as possible.
There weren't many words exchanged, only basking in the cold night, only having each other to keep yourselves warm.
Due to the time you had spent so far away from each other, it wasn’t much of a challenge, as both of you felt warm in each other’s presence.
While you share your warmth, love, and comfort with the girl in your arms, your heart is content.
"Jinsoul unnie,"
The blonde opened her eyes, adjusting to the bright light before she groaned, "We have schedule today, get up," she shifted her eyes towards the voice, through her blurry eyes, noticing Yerim shaking her with a smile.
Jinsoul didn't respond until a few minutes later when she heard the rest already talking in the living room. So she sat up, stretching her body before standing up from her bed.
She shook her head, recalling her dream before a soft sigh escaped from her lips. It was a wonderful time to be alive, to be in a safe space with your loved ones; Jinsoul only wished it could have lasted longer.
Yet again, it was the distance that proved to be difficult. It’s been months since the last time she visited and she didn’t know if she could handle one more week without it.
But lucky for her, this was the last week of promotions before they would have a few days off. So, surely she will take advantage of it.
--
The week went by pretty fast, considering all the long hours the girls spent awake.
Now sitting in the black van Jinsoul once again had the same excitement she always felt when coming to visit with you. She didn’t mind that the girls came with her.
In fact, she was happy that every single one of the girls chose to come without Jinsoul even mentioning that she was coming to see you.
But with an extra stop at the flower shop before they continued their journey.
When Jinsoul saw the black gates, she could already feel her eyes watering. It’s been too long since she was in this place.
Stepping out, she inhaled deeply, the smell of the morning dew and the grass making her nostalgic. Surely she needed a lot of apologies for being gone so long, without any notice for that matter.
They walked down the path, Jinsoul first as she held the flowers, already memorizing the path like it was the back of her hand. Each step she took grew heavier and heavier, tears stinging her eyes until she turned, stopping near the stone benches before she crouched down.
Her parents must have arrived earlier, as she wiped her tears before placing the flowers on the grass next to the burnt out candles.
"Hey, baby," she muttered quietly, placing her hand on the cold stone as she closed her eyes.
"I know it’s been too long since I visited. You’ll forgive me, right?"
She spoke, each word further increasing the number of tears she shed while her members were standing behind her. Watching their member, feeling sympathetic with her situation.
Even though it had been four years since the news, the wound was still raw,
"B-but on the bright side, we have a lot of stories we want to tell you-you," Haseul took out the blanket, spreading it out, while the girls took out the candles and fixed each end of the blanket. Each of them takes their own spot while keeping silent.
Letting Jinsoul have her moment as she cleaned up the piles of wax and replaced them with new candles.
They knew how hard this hit their member, so they knew when the time was right that Jinsoul would answer or talk to them.
Jinsoul's worst enemy was distance. Four years she spent away from your touch, your warmth, your comfort that you brought to her when you held her in your arms.
She would give up anything to have another day with you, more time that she could use to tell you just how much she loved you.
But the world will always wait till the last second before it screws everything over, right?
So she could only sit there, quiet, as she let her tears out once more.
Eventually, she uncurled from her small bubble, turning to face the girls, who gave her encouraging smiles before she took out the food they had packed and ate it.
Then the stories came, each of them telling stories that they knew would get a laugh out of you, some stories teasing the other members, while some conveyed how much they would’ve wanted you to be there, especially now during their comeback.
"We love you, I love you," Jinsoul muttered, her hand still resting against the stone before she felt a gentle breeze against her cheek, a small smile gracing her lips before she stood up, turning to face her members before they walked away.
Each of them was already continuing the conversation where it had left off.
Jinsoul was in her mind at the time, reminiscing about the memories both of you had together.
It almost seemed like yesterday when she was with you in bed. Cuddling each other as you basked in each other’s warmth, only being pulled away when Yeojin called her, wanting to tell her a joke and trying to cheer her up once she saw the older drifting again.
And while she couldn't be more grateful to have the girls by her side, she secretly wished, almost desired, to travel back in time and tell you everything.

my mate
pairing: bang chan x reader
genre: smut, hybrid!au
warnings: none
words: 1.7k
a/n: i know nothing about hybrids/knotting can someone who knows about writing that stuff help me pls djdjdjej (not proofread)
Tumblr media
you chuckled as a gorgeous cat hybrid nestled it’s head against your leg, begging for attention. you complied, reaching down to scratch right between his ears.
“aren’t you a pretty kitty?”
you could feel the subtle vibration of his purr against your leg as a response.
“do you have a name, sweet thing?”
now fully snuggled up next to you and having decided that you were his source of attention for the night, the cat hybrid purred his response.
“my name is felix.”
you were taken aback by his deep voice, it was a huge contrast to his soft demeanor and pretty freckles across his face. you continued to stroke his head, noting that he seemed to like when you payed extra attention to his pretty blonde ears.
you hummed, “where’s your master, felix?”
he pouted, “don’t have one.”
ah, so he was part of the cafe. the cafe was a little spot that had recently opened up that allowed people to come get a coffee and a snack while spending time with hybrids who didn’t have a home other than that building. all of the hybrids in the little cafe were up for adoption, but as much as you already adored the kitty in your lap, you already had a hybrid at home.
it’s not that hybrids couldn’t get along or live together. obviously they did fine at the cafe. in fact, when you got your first hybrid, chan, you’d envisioned yourself owning a whole bunch of them. but, just like humans, hybrids have their own personalities, and part of chans just happened to be that he wasn’t good at sharing.
because of his protective behavior towards you, it was hard for chan to make hybrid friends. he did well with many of your human friends, but you wanted him to have friends that understood him, ones that knew about being a hybrid.
that was the very reason you were at the hybrid cafe. you had sent chan out to play with a group of hybrids in an open space in the cafe and with quite some convincing, he’d sulked away from you with his tail between his legs and to the group of playing hybrids.
he was always better behaved towards fellow hybrids when you weren’t near, because without you there, he had no reason to be protective. for that reason, you sat on the other end of the cafe as you watched him interact with his new found friends.
he was with another wolf hybrid and two cats. the wolf has her black hair and he was quite a bit smaller than chan, but as they play fought, you could see that he equaled him in strength. one of the cats, who was desperately tangled in the middle of chan and the other wolf as they played, was taller when he stood. he had pretty blonde hair to match the cat in your lap, but his flowed longer. you couldn’t help but laugh as he struggled free from the playing wolves just in time to be tackled by the other cat, who seemed to have been waiting for someone to pounce on. he had black hair and you were sure that even if you couldn’t see his ears and tail, he would still look strikingly like a cat.
he freed himself from his attacker and looked up to make sure you were still where he had left you. it was a common habit for him, he checked on you often, despite you being the one looking over him.
noticing the unfamiliar hybrid spread across your lap, chan stood and made his way back over to you. interested in where their new friend was going, the three hybrids he had been rough housing with followed him.
you had been paying so close attention to felix that you hadn’t even noticed chans return until you heard a low growl coming from him, immediately causing felix to shoot up and cling to you.
you wrapped a secure arm around felixs waist as he kept close to you for safety.
“chan.” you warned the wolf, his eyes trained straight onto felix. “you’re scaring him.”
taking another step forward, his eyes still locked into felix, he replied, “good.”
“chan, come sit down.” you patted the other side of the couch, the side that didn’t have felix clung to you. “it’s okay.”
he did as you asked, not because he was calming down or okay with some random hybrid being that close to you, but because he knew you wanted him to be better about things like this.
taking that as their cue, the three that had followed him piled in beside you. wolf lay by your feet and the talk, blonde cat snuggled in beside him. the other cat found comfort next to felix right away.
again, their ears perked up at a sound of anger coming from chan, which you quickly shushed.
“and what are your names?”
you were petting the wolf, so he took the option to answer first.
“i’m changbin.”
the cat beside him spoke up next, rubbing his head against your legs in a desperate attempt to get you to divert your hand from changbin to him.
“i’m hyunjin!”
the last unknown hybrid already had a soft purr forming as he cuddled against felix, “my name is minho.”
you felt chan shift beside you and you diverted your attention to him, bringing your arm from around felix to hold him close.
“i didn’t forget about you, puppy.”
it was peaceful like that for a moment- chan seeming to lighten up at the idea of so many others around you, but then a small whine escaped his throat.
“channie?”
he whined again, followed by the same jealous growl that he had when he first saw felix on your lap.
“chan, it’s okay.”
he didn’t respond, instead he turned his head to you and buried it in your shoulder as he continued to whine. he groaned and balled up the fabric of his shirt as if he was struggling to take it off.
as he moved to bury his face into the crook of your neck, you realized the situation. you felt him nip at the skin of your neck and immediately knew you needed to get him out of public.
the four hybrids that had taken to you whined as you shuffled them away and told them you had to leave, but all of them combined was nothing compared to the growls and whines coming from chan.
you stood from the couch and chan pulled you back down, “hurts.”
you pried his hands from your body and forced him to stand with you, leading him out the door and onto the streets. luckily for you, the way home was short, because the whole way there, he was attempting to rid you of your shirt or push you against any surface he caught sight of.
you stuck the key into the lock, trying to ignore chan pressed right against you, it’s obvious hard on pressed into your thigh. you stumbled into the house and quickly locked the door behind you before letting chan have what he had been practically begging for moments before.
“baby,” you began as he lifted your shirt over your head, “didn’t you have a heat last month?”
he nodded, “all of those hybrids trying to scent mark my bitch threw me into another one.”
his choice of words shocked you. he had been so polite and patient the whole way home, why was he suddenly so angry?
“they weren’t scent marking me.” you tilted your head to allow him better access to your neck, “and i’m not your bitch.”
the words made him growl, “then why can i still smell that stupid cat all over you?”
he backed you through the hallway and onto the nearest piece of furniture, which happened to be the couch.
you didn’t respond to him, instead choosing to help him rid himself of his clothes. he looked like he was going to overheat.
he didn’t waste much time getting into things, immediately stripping you of your remaining clothes and lining himself up with you.
in all honesty, you were proud of him for lasting this long without fucking you senseless. you’d half expected him to rail you against a random alley wall on the walk home.
you moaned as he began to sink into you and he groaned into your ear, “not my bitch, huh? then i’ll make you my bitch.”
without further warning, he buried himself inside of you and began thrusting into you at a relentless pace.
it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for him when he was in heat, you’d been subjected to this treatment countless times before, but it still threw you off every single time.
you nearly screamed as he bit down into your shoulder, a clear way of marking you as his. he knew you liked it, though. and even if you didn’t, he was far too gone to care.
he never let up his pace as he worked his hips against yours, ruthlessly driving you into the couch cushions.
you’d helped him through this enough times to know when he was close. you had to- he wasn’t in any mental state clear enough to tell you himself.
his pace faltered slightly and you brought your hand to your clit, bringing yourself towards an orgasm. he was usually so good about making sure you felt good, but in his heat, it never crossed his mind.
just before you felt the knot in your stomach come undone, another one formed, one just as familiar. you felt a surge of pain shoot through you as he began to knot with you, and it only made the orgasm that much better. it ended long before chan was done with you, but you didn’t mind. you’d known what you had gotten yourself into when you adopted chan.
finally, he eased himself out of you. sense seemed to flow back into his brain as he looked up at you with pouty, sorry eyes.
“i’m sorry. their smells on you just made me so frustrated and-“ he paused, not knowing how to continue.
you stroked his ears, “i know, pup.” you stood, gesturing for him to follow, “how about we go wash their smell off, okay?”

Two beautiful people sent me an ask about my rivetra actors au, and boyyyy let me tell you, it was so fun making them again 😍 thank you to the pretty souls who asked this! 💘
The first actors au were from season 1 and 2, this one will focus on the filming of season 3 until the last season :) here you go!
more rivetra actors!au headcanon (some are nsfw-ish)
- Let me get straight to the point: lots of sex. Car sex. On-set sex. Dressing room sex. Name it.
- Both of them are aware that it was unprofessional, but there was a time when they did not see each other for more than a month because of their (especially Levi’s) busy and conflicting schedule, so when Petra surprised him on set, the frustration and longing just piled up and they had sex.
- Then it became a habit.
- And this habit, of course, didn’t go unnoticed by the other casts and even crews of the show. Armin heard them once, and the poor boy made a mental note to never ever come close to Levi’s room again.
- The older casts are fine with it since, you know, normal adult stuff. But for the love of the three Walls, can you lovebirds tone the moaning down? People are trying to get some sleep wtf.
- Levi’s make-up artist had to deal with the pain of covering his hickeys (courtesy of Ms. Petra Ral) every shoot. The ones on his neck, especially those near his adam’s apple were the most visible. And since Captain Levi rarely wore a cravat in season three, part one, it made the work harder for the make-up artist.
- As compensation, Petra always bought a special souvenir for Levi’s make-up artist whenever she flies overseas for her theater shows.
- For the premiere of season 3, Levi took Petra as his date on the red carpet. It was the first event they attended publicly as a couple.
- It was a big milestone for their relationship because they are both public figures. And we all know what happens when celebrities publicize their relationships, it is prone to issues and controversies.
- And you can very well guess that Levi Ackerman showing off his beautiful girlfriend to the press was big news. As big as the AoT premiere even.
- During the air of season three, Levi became more famous and he attracted many overseas fans as well as international actresses because of his brilliant scenes with Kenny.
- Although Petra is not the jealous type, she admitted that somehow it affected her when other international actresses expressed their admiration towards Levi. Some even said that Levi is their type and they are looking forward to working with him in the future.
- When Levi sensed this, he immediately headed to his IG and posted a picture of Petra with a very cheesy caption lmao. Forgive him, he's new to this kind of relationship.
- Did I mention he also posted a picture of them kissing in front of the Eiffel tower?
- Only a few know this, but the real Levi is one clingy boyfriend.
- He is very touchy when it comes to Petra. He just really loves holding her. Sometimes he just randomly hugs her, caresses her, nuzzles her. He just loves having skin-to-skin contact with her.
- His love language is actions and gestures.
- His favorite gesture to do to Petra is a back hug with his arms under her boobs. It was a soft gesture and it wasn't sexual in any way...until it did.
- More than half of their sex started with Levi touching Petra’s underboobs tbh.
- Sometimes Levi thinks that he's neglecting Petra and more than once he considered quitting the show business for her. But then he’ll see her smiling at him, and she tells him that she's very proud of what he’s doing and that she's happy that she gets to support him with doing the things he is really passionate about and just… all he could think of that time is that he wants to marry this amazing woman.
- He is also supportive of Petra’s theater actress career, of course. And he hates the fact that he needs to hide whenever he watches one of her shows since people eventually gather around him asking for an autograph and he feels that it’s rude for Petra. This is her moment and he doesn’t want to ruin it for her.
- Hence, his all-black and mysterious get-up whenever he watches her show.
- AoT season three was a huge success and plans for season four are already on the move. Casts were given a long break before the shooting began again and both Petra and Levi took this as a chance to bond together.
-Petra's favorite thing to do with Levi is playing with animals. She has a soft spot for animals, and she wanted for them to adopt a pet but she knew that the poor animal will only be given less attention because both of them are always busy.
-When Petra's theater world tour ended, she and Levi started living together. They didn't have the chance to do it before since they were both busy.
-Them living together is probably the height of their relationship. They fought, they had sex, they laughed, they played, they bathe together. They did everything together and it was a beautiful experience.
- For their third anniversary, Levi booked a vacation on a private island for a week. It was also their last bonding because Levi is going to start filming again for season four in less than a month.
- They did not communicate with anyone during that one week. It was just them, and they made the most of it.
- Mornings were spent for morning sex and breakfast in bed. Afternoons were for swimming, sleeping, cuddling, hugging, kissing, and every activity they could think of doing. They explored the island, they petted stray animals, they dived into the ocean, they build sandcastles, they ate different dishes, they had sex in caves and while swimming on the beach, they climbed trees, they bought souvenirs, and most importantly, they took many pictures together.
- Evenings were the most romantic of all. They had sex in the darkness of their own room while they hear the ocean waves crashed to the shore outside and as the sea breeze cooled their sweat-slicked skin. They took the time to explore each other’s body like it’s their last (because it will be in a matter of days).
- On their last night, Pet cried while they’re having sex. Levi’s face was buried on the crook of her neck and she was moaning one moment, and then the next she’s sobbing like a poor little baby.
- She said that she’d gotten used to life with Levi always by her side and she didn’t want it to ever change. Levi comforted her. He petted her hair, and he said that it’s going to be okay. He kissed her head, then her hair, her face, and her body. Then they had the most emotional and meaningful sex of their entire life.
- Levi started shooting again for season four. Petra, like the past seasons, visits him as much as she can. It was hard adjusting to this type of life again, but she’s a strong woman. And besides, she’s going to start rehearsing for another theater show again.
- They need to undergo medical check-ups before the casting and she found out then that she is pregnant with Levi’s baby.
- It freaked her out. She and Levi never talked about babies before since they’re busy with their careers, and their relationship has always been just the two of them.
- Levi was out of town for the shoot, and she didn’t want to tell him the good news on the phone so she patiently waited until he got home.
- He was greeted with a fancy dinner, and a “Welcome home, Daddy” by Petra. Levi thought that it was her being cheeky and naughty at first, but when dinner ended and she ran for her life to the sink, that’s when he started getting worried. And when Petra showed him the positive result in her medical check-up, well, let’s just say that on that day, Levi Ackerman received a good reminder of what he did to her on their vacation months ago.
- But seriously, he was seconds away from calling his manager and dropping his AoT contract just so he can take care of Petra and their baby. Petra said that it was fine, and she doesn’t want him to quit.
- Levi apologized to Petra many times because he wasn’t there when she discovered it, but she assured him that it was alright and it wasn’t his fault. God, he’s with the perfect woman.
- Since Levi is a big shot in the industry, he demanded control over his schedules. Honestly, he wanted to be at her side 24/7. He wanted to see her belly swell as months went by. He wanted to be the one to satisfy her midnight pregnancy cravings. He wanted to kiss her face and her belly first thing in the morning.
- He convinced Petra to move temporarily to the Ackerman family house where Levi’s parents are staying. Kenny and Mikasa also lived in the same affluent neighborhood. He had doctors, and helpers, and bodyguards hired for Petra. But she said that she’s too uncomfortable with many people around her.
- Petra and Levi’s mom build a bond of their own. She’d gotten to know more of Levi through his mother’s perspective. The older woman showed her Levi’s teenage room, his past awards, his photos, his audition tapes that weren’t out for the public, and she fell in love with him more.
- They had a super private wedding with their relatives and closest friends. Petra was six months pregnant by that time and season four is planned to air three months from now.
- So, you know about that one holy Rivetra panel where Petra is looking back to Levi? The reason why the scene was not in the actual show was that she is pregnant. That’s why the directors are forced to use old scenes from season one instead.
- Despite all the efforts of being private, paparazzi and the media still caught wind of the secret wedding, and rumors about Petra being pregnant started circulating over the internet. Levi shut down these rumors every time someone attempted to question him in his interviews.
- When the shooting ended, Petra was already eight months into pregnancy. As per tradition, the cast and staff held an after-party, but Petra was surprised when it became a baby shower for her instead.
- The baby was supposedly due in the third week of December, but Petra’s water broke around the first week instead and she started her labor. She ended up having the same birthday as their healthy baby boy.
- The baby was named River Ackerman. He was named after Levi’s role where he won the Best Actor Award when he was seventeen. It was also a tribute to Levi’s role in AoT since his name was sometimes spelled as ‘Rivaille’ on many occasions.

(Y’all want a tiny sample of Grif and Simmons being all domestic for the first time once they start to actually be boyfriends? Sure you do~)
“I should have just done what I always do and changed into something else before coming back here… and YOU should have taken all your armor off in one place. Now you’ll have to carry those pieces back with you when you have to wear it again,” Simmons teased him as he started to take off his undersuit.
“Dammit, you’re right… but I REALLY wanted to get back here first, and you change so fast!” Grif told him. He undid the little clasps so the armor fell off him, bit by bit, section by section, then kicked it under his bed.
“Pff, WHY?”
“Oh, I was gonna wait for you on your bed with a rose in my teeth, and-”
“You were NOT!”
“Yeah, no, I wasn’t…” Grif admitted. Now that they were both changing and talking casually, he felt himself relax. “My actual plan was to get under my covers and pretend to be asleep, then jump up and surprise you,”
“You probably would have fallen asleep for REAL if you did that, and then what?”
He heard Simmons chuckle, and Grif glanced over in that direction. Simmons had already gotten his sweatpants on, and was now pulling on a t-shirt. Grif had almost the same sweatpants, but his were bigger and more worn-out (Simmons’ were still a dark black, while Grif’s were faded to a dingy gray… showing a few stains from where he had once spilled some chili in his lap). Grif pulled a tank-top from his clean-clothes-pile, slipping it over his head, unable to stop looking at Simmons. Sensing Grif was watching him, Simmons looked over and smiled at him. Grif smiled back, and he didn’t have to look away, or pretend he was just spacing-out, or make some joke, or insult Simmons as a distraction; this was his boyfriend now. He could look at him. Actually, he could do a lot more.
Grif walked back to him, and Simmons opened his arms to embrace Grif. For a moment they stood like that, holding each other, feeling the way they both breathed in and out.
“If I DID fall asleep before you got back… you could just, y’know, come over and… get into bed with me,” Grif told him, pressing his face into the crook of Simmons’ neck (this was quickly becoming his favorite place to nuzzle; he could feel Simmons’ pulse, the muscles twitch when Simmons swallowed or talked, and it was so warm right here).
“Yeah?” Simmons asked.
“Yeah… not like it’s the first time we’ve ever slept together. Now we can actually cuddle, though. Um, we could just go do that… right now… if you want,” Grif didn’t want to sound too much like he just wanted to sleep… true, that was one of his favorite things to do, and he was tired from racing through the ship, but his actual motivations revolved around being able to keep holding Simmons as long as possible.
“Well, I don’t know… your bed is all the way over THERE. That’s WAY too far. My bed is right HERE, though. How about we just crash at my place?” Simmons laughed at his own lame joke before letting go of Grif, leaning over so he could pull back the blankets. “You get in and get comfy, I’m gonna go get something…”
Grif hopped into the small bed; they would pretty much have to sleep right on top of each other… Grif felt overwhelmed by several different emotions. One, his natural laziness was indignant over the running incident, and now very content to simply pass-out. Two, he was incredibly endeared by the fact that Simmons was not only willing but looking forward to sharing a bed with him (and even appealing to his laziness by offering the closer bed). Three, he was just ever-so-slightly aroused… because Simmons was being far too cute, and all this casual intimacy was deceptively hot. Four, he was still a bit awkward and unsure about what to do, because he didn’t want this to somehow go wrong, he wanted this to be GOOD, he wanted them both to be happy together (and whole thing about being in the closet on Chorus was in the back of his mind. That had been too fast and too blurry… whatever they did next, Grif wanted it to be slower and sweeter).
The laziness and the awkwardness were drowning out the arousal, but the endearment was making up for it all; Grif was happy to do this, sleep and snuggle with Simmons. Maybe they could do this every night…
Simmons returned, sitting down on the side of the bed. He had a few small objects in his hands.
“Here, disposable tooth-brushes. They have this coating of tooth paste, so they get foamy while you use them. Oh, and see? I’ve got a bottle of water right there on the nightstand. Here’s a little paper cup you can spit in to rinse when you’re done,” Simmons explained as he handed Grif one of the tiny tooth-brushes.
“Haha, dude, seriously? I was just gonna skip it tonight…”
“NO, you need to brush every night, Grif! Ugh, how can you sleep with plaque on your teeth? I can’t stand it,” Simmons shook his head in mock-disdain. “And I have more of these, too… I know you don’t have your own tooth-brush here,”
Grif had to smile at that; Simmons was still sore about all the times Grif had used his tooth-brush in the past, but clearly not genuinely mad. Grif did as he was told, grateful at least that Simmons had brought all this to him instead of making Grif get up and walk outside to one of the bathrooms in the hall (no personal bathrooms on this ship… not even for important space heroes). Once they were both finished, Simmons threw the used tooth-brushes and cup away. Finally, he turned off the light, and slipped into the bed with Grif.
“You good, dude?” Grif asked as he settled.
“Yeah… you’re even softer than the bed, so this works out just fine for me!” Simmons had practically draped himself over Grif. “What about you, OK?”
“I am way beyond OK…” Grif sighed, enjoying that was once again able to press his face into Simmons’ neck. Oh yeah, he was great… this was perfect…
“Oh, I just remembered something I wanted to tell you!” Simmons said. “I figured out how to access the satellite signals for this place without disrupting any of the important information messages,”
“Mmm… yes, that sounds very impressive… good nerd, smart nerd…” Grif patted his head.
“That means I can get us Spaceflicks on my helmet,”
“Oh, what? For real?” that got his attention.
“Yep. We can do a movie marathon when we both have the time. Now, say it like you MEAN it!” Simmons smiled smugly in the dark.
“Good nerd, smart nerd!” Grif repeated with more emphasis, running his hands through Simmons’ hair. “Clever nerd, cute nerd, funny nerd, sweet nerd, MY nerd…”
Simmons damn near purred at all the praise.

Painter’s Hands and Guatemalan Coffee: Part 2
insomniac
Pairing/setting: Levi Ackerman x Female!Reader, modern!college!AU
Summary: When you catch your idiot boyfriend cheating, your grumpy roommate is there to pick up the pieces and watch your back as you toe a carefully drawn line in the metaphorical sand.
Word Count: 2.5k
Warnings: insomnia, nightmares, (remembering) death, panic attack, cuddling, fluff
AN: Here she is!! I’ve decided to give oc a little ~tragic backstory~ and I really hope it comes across like I’ve intended. I wouldn’t go so far as to call in angst, necessarily, but there’ll definitely be some in the future. Also, I know I’ve painted Annie and Reiner in a really bad light so far in this particular fic, but please know that’s not how I view them in canon at all - it’s simply because someone had to be the bad guy:( Anyways, I hope yall enjoy and as always don’t hesitate to reach out via reblog/ask with any suggestions/feedback/questions!! ~valkyrie
(read Part 1.5 here)
Bodies jostle against you in the darkness to the beat of music you can’t hear.  The buzzing gets louder, drowning out even your own screams for them to stop.
Stop. Stop. STOPSTOPSTOPSTOPSTOPSTOP!
“STOP IT!” You can hear yourself this time, your voice embarrassingly loud in the cramped room. You slap hands over your mouth but everyone’s already turned to look at you, disgusted at the display of emotion. Even they peel their faces apart to sneer down their noses.
“Why should we?” Annie’s voice rings with superiority, swirling around the space and nestling in the crook of your neck. You shudder away, but the faceless bodies shove you back.
“Don’t you know this is your fault, anyway? You weren’t enough for me.” Reiner jeers with a satisfied smirk. The whole room laughs, cackling and giggling spitefully. You can’t move, muscles frozen, as they turn back to each other and continue making out. His hand in her hair, her thigh hooked over his hip, obscenely wet noises from their joined mouths.
You scream and scream and scream, jaw wide and aching, and all of a sudden the scene shifts and you’re at your mother’s bedside. Your breath hitches and you’re screaming in a child’s voice this time.
“Mommy, Mommy, no, please, no, MOMMY, PLEASE--”
Your hand twitches towards her and its movement against soft sheets brings you back to consciousness.
You’re spread-eagled in bed, comforter kicked almost completely off, chest heaving.
“One. Two. Three. Four…” you count in a hoarse whisper to yourself, staring out the window at gently falling snow illuminated in yellow streetlights. It takes you to one hundred and twenty-seven before you’re calm enough to do anything productive.
You reach out a blind hand to find your phone on the nightstand and raise it up to check the time. 4:47 am. Nearly three hours of sleep.
Eh, good enough for jazz.
You heave a sigh, then push up to sit on the edge of your bed and flick on the lamp. The sudden bright light makes you squint against sharp pain behind your eyes and turn away in search of a sweatshirt. Some sifting through the ever-growing pile of laundry later, you settle on a green university hoodie and pull it on over your ratty tank top. Your toes and fingers always feel like icicles after waking up from a nightmare, so you find faux fur-lined slippers as well.
As you push past your bedroom door and into the living room, a figure in the comfy armchair catches the corner of your eye.
You nearly jump out of your skin before recognizing who it is. “Christ on a cracker, Levi! Nearly scared me half to death.”
“Sorry.” He doesn’t sound sorry as he marks the page in his book and sets it on the coffee table.
“What are you doing up?”
“I could ask you the same.”
“Well that’s not ominous or anything,” you mutter with an eye roll as you cross to the kitchen and set the kettle to boil for coffee.
Levi sighs and pinches the bridge of his elegant nose.
“Sorry. That’s not what I meant. It’s just… I noticed you haven’t been sleeping much lately and I’m worried.” He crosses to sit at the kitchen table and speaks to your back as you shuffle around the kitchen.
“What do you mean? Of course I’ve been sleeping. Whaddaya think I was just doing?”
“It’s five am, and you were still up when I went to sleep at twelve. Optimistically, that’s four hours of sleep. And yesterday you went to bed after one, but Hange said you were texting her at five-thirty, and--”
“Jeez, what, have you been stalking me or something?” you ask with an incredulous glance over your shoulder.
“We live together. It’s kind of hard not to notice.” Levi’s tone is the usual dry you’ve come to expect, but there’s an undercurrent that you’re too exhausted to pinpoint. “And Hange also told me she’s been worried.”
“What is this, an intervention? Just because I break up with someone I’m suddenly incapable of functioning?” Your voice (and headache) rises with each phrase, cracking on the morning dryness in the air, and you spin to face him.
“I didn’t say that, I--”
“Am I just supposed to wallow in misery for the rest of my life? No. I’m not doing that, Levi, I’m moving on. I-- I’m a busy woman, I’ve got finals and, and internship applications, and I happen to enjoy waking up early. I like watching the sunrise.” Though your words are rushed and you’re gesturing animatedly, uncertainty seeps through the stuttered phrases in your argument.
Levi lets you finish, then returns in a measured voice: “Why are you so defensive about this? I know you’re busy. So am I. But I manage to get more than four hours of sleep at night. I just want to help.”
His statement hangs in the air like dust mites, swirling around you and clinging to the sticky after-effects of the nightmare in your mind. You frown and drop your eyes to the linoleum, guilt settling into the stickiness.
“I know. I’m sorry.” Your voice is much softer. “I just--” A deep sigh. “I can’t sleep.”
“Why?”
The simple question makes your breath stutter and you scrub a hand down your face in an effort to ground your skin into reality.
“It’s so stupid.” It’s practically a whisper. “I have these nightmares. About my mom. I got them when I was younger, too, but eventually they just sort of… stopped. But now they’re back. And I can’t ever get back to sleep after, so I just stopped bothering to try.”
“You know, sometimes I get nightmares, too.”
The admission catches you off guard, your eyes widening. Levi always seems so… steady and sure, you wouldn’t have expected it.
“Really?”
He nods. “About my mom and the foster homes.”
“Oh, I didn’t know you…” Your heart sinks, and you don’t know how to say you’re sorry for the heartbreak he must’ve lived through with any semblance of tact.
“Yeah. It’s not something I talk about much.”
“Right.” You pause and chew on your tongue thoughtfully for a moment. “Do you have...strategies for when you can’t sleep because of them?”
“I have sleeping pills from my psychiatrist and some meditation practices that work for me. I can send you some resources, if you’d like.”
“Yeah, I’d really appreciate that if it’s not a bother.” You feel kind of sheepish now, for raising your voice, and so try to sound extra thankful for his help.
“It’s not.” He stands up and stretches both arms over his head, tipping his face up to the sky, lean body arching and twisting with the effort of it.  “I’ll send them to you later today. I’m gonna go back to bed.”
“Okay. Thank you, Levi.”
He nods and yawns, nose scrunching adorably. “Night, kid.”
“Good night.”
As his bedroom door clicks shut, you sigh yet again and turn off the stove. The first thing to avoid is probably coffee.
--
Your fingers flick off last rivulets of water as you step out of the shower. A shiver rattles its way up your spine before you can grab a towel to dry off. Bless Levi, he had done laundry today and the towel is still dryer-warm, smelling of his favorite fabric softener.
As you go through your evening routine (tooth brushing, face washing, hair drying), you can feel a quiet tension set into your shoulders despite the humidity of the bathroom.
The day had gone okay. You managed to resist coffee until 8 am and cut yourself off at 3. A lecture and a studio in the morning left the afternoon for library studying and a trip to the grocery store.
You had actually seen Bertholdt there, in the cereal aisle. You hadn’t been too keen on having that particular conversation, but luckily he hadn’t seemed to be either. The pair of you exchanged sympathetically awkward smiles before turning back to the Cheerios.
The evening consisted of ordering chinese takeout while obsessing over your latest architecture design project, followed by convincing Hange over the phone not to sleep in the mouse lab for extra credit.
“But Bean will be lonely!” she insisted hysterically. “And Sonny wasn’t looking too hot in lab today, what if he needs his mommy and I’m not there?”
“You’re not their mommy,” you reminded her. “They have each other to keep them company, and if Sonny dies, won’t it support your hypothesis anyway?”
She had eventually acquiesced when you promised to help her plan a memorial should they pass in the night.
So now here you are, skin slowly drying, as you psych yourself up in the mirror to go to sleep.
“It won’t be bad. Just use the meditations Levi sent you.” You try to inject confidence into your voice, but you only end up grimacing at yourself in the mirror. “Ah, fuck it.”
You tuck your towel in firmly around your chest and double check to see your things are put away before going back to your room.
As you pass, you hesitate by Levi’s door for a moment. His normal studying music, Chopin, is on and light creeps out from underneath. Another moment of uncertainty, then you gently knock and poke your head in.
“Levi?” He raises his head from where he’s hunched over an easel, paint brush in hand. Brow furrowed and body tensed like a strung bow, he doesn’t look happy to be interrupted.
Fuck.
“I, uhm, just wanted to say good night.”
He grunts and turns back to the painting.
You take that as your cue to leave.
Back in the sanctuary of your own room, you curse again and kick your desk chair, sending it rolling a couple inches.
Why had you bothered him? To say good night?
“Stupid, stupid, UGH.” Your dramatic outburst ends in flopping face-first into bed. Just because he felt concerned enough to stage a fucking intervention doesn’t mean he’s your fucking nanny. Idiot.
Eventually, you roll over and get up to change into pajamas.
Settling into bed, you open your newly downloaded meditation app and start an audio.
“As you prepare for your meditation practice today, find a comfortable position sitting or lying down where you can fully relax….”
The cool female voice wraps your mind in a hazy blanket of fog and eventually coaxes your body into an achingly needed sleep.
--
This time the dream wakes you up whimpering into your pillow, arms flung above your head as though you’re skydiving. With a sucking breath, you lift your head to prevent imminent suffocation and instead settle on your side, staring unblinkingly into the darkness. Breath ragged in your chest, your mind can’t seem to move past the last image of your nightmare.
It’s burned into your retinas when you close your eyes and etched onto the moonlight-pale wall when they’re open: your mom’s pallid face staring up at the ceiling, hands resting on top of  her blue embroidered duvet cover, chest still.
A sob escapes your unwilling throat and you’re scrambling to sit up and reach for the lamp. The lamplight suddenly reminds you of your own existence in the physical plane, thrusting all your senses into sharp contrast.
Her greying, thinning hair, the frailty in her fingers, the cracks in her lips, the cloying scent of death.
“Nonononononononono,” you moan, hunched over your knees, fingers tangled in your hair. Your stomach is hollow, chest tight, tears now flowing in earnest. It hasn’t been this bad in a long time, not since 7th grade at least.
Do something, do something, you stupid bitch, your mind is yelling at you, and so you force your body to move. Somewhere, anywhere other than here.
You practically fall out of bed and then lean heavily on your desk to compensate for shaking knees as you move to the door. Feet shuffle in the darkness and all of a sudden you’re sniffling outside Levi’s door, fingers in a deathgrip on your shirt. One, two breaths and you knock three hesitant raps.
Fuck. Shit. Instant regret bubbles up in your throat and you pivot away. Before you can get far, the door opens and you hear Levi’s sleep-ragged voice utter your name like a question. Damn.
You turn back sheepishly.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t’ve woken you up. Go back to bed.” Your voice is unnaturally breathy as Levi tries to make you out in the dim light of the moon filtering in through the living room window.
He reaches for your shoulder to gently pull you out of the shadows, and realization crosses his face as he registers the tear tracks and haunting terror in your eyes.
“It happened again,” he states.
You nod hesitantly and wipe at your cheeks with the back of one hand. You try again to tell him that no, really, you’re fine and he should go back to bed, but the words get lost in the tangle of truths between your brain and mouth.
Instead, what comes out is: “Can… can I sleep with you?” Your eyes finally flick to his before you quickly follow up. “It’s okay if you don’t want to, I just- it helps to have someone close….”
Levi watches you for a moment before sliding his hand from your shoulder to your hand and tugging gently.
“Come on.”
You follow him inside and fidget awkwardly at the side of his bed as he climbs in. His room is impeccably neat, not that you would expect anything different from the man who once gave you a five minute lecture about leaving dishes in the sink to soak. It was the most words you’d heard him string together at the time, and he only stopped when he realized you were laughing.
“You sound like my Great Aunt Cheryl,” you said between hiccups of mirth. “Insufferable woman.”
He had looked at you scathingly, then made you promise never to leave the dishes for later again on pain of changing the wifi password.
Once he’s settled, Levi turns back the covers on your side and looks at you expectantly. You falter a split second before climbing in next to him, the familiar smell of his laundry detergent clouding around you as you fall back into soft pillows. He throws the comforter over you, then settles down and opens his arms.
“C’mere, kid,” he says with a tenderness that makes a sniffle catch in the back of your throat.
You roll into his arms, resting your head in the curve of his shoulder and breathe the first easy breath since you woke up. An arm flung around his middle means your whole body is against his, warming you up like a midafternoon nap in August.
Levi settles his arm around your back after tucking in the blankets and holds you like you’ve always belonged there. He gradually, gradually feels you relax into him as your breathing begins to match his own.
After a while, your eyes droop closed and Levi allows himself the indulgence of tucking his nose into your hair. A bouquet of lavender shampoo and you accompanies him softly into his dreams.

“this phone call’s a week late, miss,” yuta’s teasing tone came from the other end.
jiyu playfuly rolled her eyes. “be glad i even called,” she retorted. she could feel yuta’s small pout and see his drooped ears. “i’m kidding, it was a busy week since we get a lot of new hybrids in the facility during the winter every year. but thank you for bringing me the papers.”
yuta hummed in acknowledgement. “i will say, though. for someone who mistreated their hybrid, she put up a pretty good fight in trying to keep him for herself, even though she made no attempts to even look for him in the first place,” yuta remembered the rigourous process it took for him to force the woman to hand over mingi’s adoption documents.
jiyu’s face hardened as she thought about yuta’s words. “it was probably leverage over him. she knew that he couldn’t actually leave her if she still had his papers, so she kept them as a way to have mingi still obey her. it’s quite disgusting.” a shiver—both from disgust and the chilly breeze that blew by—ran through her spine.
jiyu sat on the couch of the penthouse terrace, looking out at the bright lights of seoul during the night. even though she was adorned in her puffer jacket, she still felt the wind biting at her skin. taking her eyes off the view of the city, she turned in to look at her four hybrids curled by the fireplace, their eyes glued to the tv. it warmed her heart seeing them relax without a care in the world.
“your father doesn’t know, does he?” yuta carefully asked. he knew the topic of her father was a sore spot for her.
biting the inside of her cheek, anxiety began to creep up in her heart at the thought of her father finding out what she’s been up to. it wasn’t that he hated hybrids; but because her late mother was also formerly a hybrid caretaker before getting married, her father’s views on hybrids soured over the years. they reminded him of his wife.
“no, he can find out when i come back,” jiyu firmly said. “has he...said anything about me?” she meekly added. the reason she asked: she never responded to her father about her choices in potential suitors, so she had a feeling her father was up to something behind her back.
she heard yuta sigh, and her heart slightly dropped. “i wasn’t supposed to tell you, but your father grew impatient and chose someone for you. he had me visit them and everything.”
“...oh.” she pinched her nosebridge and her grip on her phone tightened. “who did he choose?” she asked. as much as she wanted to scream, protest, anything, she knew it’s be useless. her father’s words were final, no one could go against them, and it made her blood boil everytime he played her like a puppet for his own benefits.
“kim, sunwoo...?” yuta said, hoping it’d ring a bell in her head. “he’s the son of one of our long-time business partners.”
jiyu remembered his file on the list. he was the heir to kim corportations. no doubt her father chose him since combining the shares of both hwang enterprises and kim corporations would indeed boost both companies. it’s a win-win situation.
“hm, i see.” she also knew her father would call her soon to relay his decisions to her.
the terrace door slid open and a half-asleep mingi waddled out. he rubbed his eyes with his fists. jiyu’s face immediately melted from a stone-cold expression into a smile. “i’ll call you back, yuta. thanks again for everything.”
“of course, miss,” yuta added before quickly hanging up before jiyu could give him an earful about the title again.
“this kid...” jiyu mumbled under her breath with a wry smile before putting her phone down. she pat the seat next to her, telling mingi to sit down since he looked like he was about to fall asleep standing up.
mingi gratefully took her offer and plopped down next to her. his head dropped onto her shoulder and he nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck. her scent relaxed him—the smell of her peach shampoo and body wash was way better than his previous owners smell of heavy, dizzying perfume.
“what’s up, buddy? sleepy?” she chuckled as she ran her hand through his fading-red hair, ignoring the ticklish feeling of his bunny ears against her cheek. she noted his thin layer of clothes and frowned. reaching up, she turned on the heat lamp that was next to the couch. “you’re going to get sick, bubs.”
mingi hummed as he curled closer to jiyu. “it’s okay...i’m used to the cold,” he mumbled, his eyes fighting to stay open.
jiyu’s heart ached when the words left his mouth. i wonder if anyone cared for him if he did get sick...i mean maybe yunho...but what about when yunho wasn’t there?
before her thoughts could grow any deeper, the door slid open again, only this time, the other three came out carrying a heap of blankets and handwarmers. jiyu cocked her head in confusion.
“what are you all—”
“blanket pile!” yunho laughed as he threw a blanket onto jiyu and mingi’s lap before sliding in next to mingi. seonghwa and hongjoong sat by jiyu’s side, and soon, the fivewere cuddled together on the couch covered by blankets to keep them warm along with the heating lamp.
soft snores came from mingi, making them smile as they fondly looked at the bunny hybrid resting on jiyu. the fire and the lights from the inside bathed the terrace in a warm, orange color. jiyu contently sighed; everything was so peaceful and perfect, she hated for it to all change soon.
seonghwa rested his cheek on top of her head, careful of hongjoong’s body slightly leaning on his. “everything okay?” he quietly asked. he had taken several glances at her when she was calling yuta, and he noted her emotionless, yet angered expressions.
jiyu nodded. “don’t worry, everything’s okay,” she reassured, although she was trying to convince herself more than she was telling seonghwa and the others. “what movie did you guys watch?” she quietly asked as to not wake up the sleeping giant bunny.
“yunho wanted to watch avengers so we watched the first one,” hongjoong replied, his tone growing languid and lazy the more he relaxed. “were you calling yuta?”
jiyu smiled before reaching past seonghwa to gently pet hongjoong’s head. “yeah, i never thanked him for helping us with mingi since the recovery center grew pretty busy this week.”
“he’s a black cat hybrid, right?” yunho curiously asked as he gently leaned onto mingi. “i’ve never seen one before, but i heard they were really elegant. and they were right!” he smiled.
jiyu stifled a chuckle. yuta? elegant? that’s what he may seem like to strangers but he was the same man that trips over his own two feet when they were just walking. “elegant may not be the best word to describe yuta, but it fits during some ocassions,” she joked. “i remember once he bumped into a man carrying a stack of files and he let out the most ungracious yelp and his arms flailed everywhere when he fell.” she chuckled at the memory.
they all chuckled, surprised of the cat’s clumsiness when he seemed all cool and mysterious to them when he visited to hand over mingi’s papers. “he sounds like mingi,” yunho chuckled. “he gets scared pretty easily and can let out some ungracious yelps, too.”
that i have to agree with. she thought with a smile when she remembered their first meetings.
“now my only concern,” she suddenly said, catching their attention, “is how we’re going to get mingi inside.”
“can we honestly just sleep out here?” hongjoong asked, too comfy and relaxed to move. “it’s really comfy...”
“we’re all going to catch colds though, even though we’re drowing in blankets and the heat lamp is on,” jiyu reasoned.
“we’ll keep you warm!” yunho added as he leand more onto mingi, causing him to press closer to jiyu. “sleeping out here won’t be that bad of an idea! it’s pretty warm, too.”
“hm...for once, i’m actually okay with this idea, too,” seonghwa mumbled, his eyes and ears drooping tiredly. “we’re all too comfy and sleepy to move...so sleeping out here doesn’t seem too bad...” he yawned as he nuzzled his face into the other side of her neck.
"alright...but don’t blame me if you all get colds tomorrow,” she quietly laughed as the four hybrids drifted off to dreamland. she looked at their sleeping faces as if etching the scene into her memory. everything was perfect.
“but nothing stays perfect for long...” she whispered under her breath. she knew that soon, everything would change once she had to return home. but until then, she swore to all the stars in the sky that she would make their time worth it; she swore that she would give them all the love that they deserve.
now and forever.

Well…  Shoto thought to himself, looking down at the pile of clothes on the pavement. This is a surprise.
He honestly had no idea what had happened. One minute, him and Midoriya were walking down the street towards Yuuei with their groceries, the next, a small child had barrelled past them, knocking Midoriya's arm as she went. Initially, his friend had insisted that he was fine, but the moment the culprit had turned down the next street, he had vanished, his clothes and bag unceremoniously clattering to the floor.
Shoto had been - understandably, he thought - alarmed by the development. After all, it wasn't every day one's best friend and crush disappeared, leaving nothing but a pile of clothes behind. Shoto was entirely ready to sprint after the children and shake them for information, when suddenly something moved under the pile, informing him that his friend was indeed still alive, just struggling to get free.
 'Midoriya?'
Shoto knelt down and tried to untangle the clothes so whatever was underneath could escape. What he wasn't expecting was to come face to face with a fluffy Havana rabbit in place of his friend.
 'Oh.'
Wide, verdant eyes with dilated pupils stared up at him questioningly and Shoto felt himself blush at the sight. He knew those eyes better than his own.
  Yes… Definitely Midoriya.
Just when he thought his best friend couldn't get any cuter, he had to go and turn into the most adorable rabbit in the world.
His ears were upright, albeit a tiny bit shorter than average, his nose was pink as it moved around, sniffing the air, and his coat was ebony with an emerald shine, except for his paws, which were white and messy.
  It's like he's wearing socks...
 Shoto shook himself.
Fawn over your best friend later, fool. You've got a job to do.
'Midoriya, blink twice if you can understand me?'
Those big eyes continued to watch him intently, before blinking twice in confirmation.
'Good.' That made things a lot easier. 'Now, are you hurt? Blink once for no, twice for yes.'
Midoriya blinked once, much to his relief. Then, he let out an adorable sneeze that went straight to Shoto's heart.
  So cute.
'Okay, I'm going to pick up your clothes and bags so I can take us back to the dorms. Am I okay to carry you?'
Midoriya nodded and Shoto could've sworn his friend was smiling. He tried not to dwell on it though and got to work. He shoved Midoriya's clothes into one of the fallen carrier bags, before picking them up and transferring them to one hand. The weight was fine, but the straps bit into his fingers harshly - it was going to be a painful walk back.
Midoriya must've sensed his distress though, because the moment Shoto scooped him up against his chest, his friend hopped up and took his place on Shoto's shoulder. When he turned to look at him, confused, Midoriya nuzzled his nose against his cheek to assure him that he was fine.
It took every ounce of self-control for Shoto not to set them both on fire with his quirk.
'Okay, Midoriya. I'll allow it.' He spoke evenly, despite his friend still rubbing against him. 'But if you fall, I'm going to be very upset. I will cry, don't test me.'
The rabbit squeaked at that and made sure to shuffle a little closer, until he was nestled near the crook of Shoto’s neck.
Distributing the carrier bags into both hands to distract him from the proximity, Shoto then set off down the street.
Somehow, the walk back wasn't as uncomfortable as he thought it would be. Sure, some people sent him confused looks, while others straight up muttered about how he was a careless owner for letting Midoriya perch on his shoulder, but Shoto found that being in Midoriya's presence helped him feel less agitated. After all, Midoriya always had a talent for calming Shoto down when he let his anger get the better of him.
Soft fur brushed against his face and Shoto sighed, content, before deciding that he should probably say something.
 'How are you feeling?'
 Silence.
When Midoriya tilted his head to the side, he realised his mistake. 'Oh yeah. Er, blink once for good, twice for okay, three for sad, four for other.'
He didn't appreciate how easy it was for Midoriya to look so amused as he blinked twice. Before Shoto could ask though, Midoriya settled back near his neck and purred.
I didn't know rabbits could purr.
Shoto exhaled carefully to control himself and quickly decided to continue the rest of their journey in silence, lest he embarrass himself further.
 🐇🐇
'Why is it, when something happens, it is always you two.' Aizawa leant against his desk and pinched his brow.
'For the record, Sensei,' Shoto raised a finger. 'I understood that reference and think that the current circumstances are a lot different.'
'Answer the question, Todoroki.' Aizawa glared at him. 'Why is Midoriya a rabbit?'
Shoto sighed heavily and proceeded to explain what had happened. He informed his teacher that there was no foul play - it was merely an accident - and that Midoriya wasn't hurt. Aizawa nodded at set intervals and when Shoto eventually fell silent, he pushed himself away from his desk and looked down at them.
'It wouldn't be logical to punish you for this.' He began bluntly. 'But in the future, I will be more stringent with your liberties to leave school grounds alone.'
He then looked down at the small rabbit, sitting by Shoto's leg. 'Midoriya, you have to go see Recovery Girl in case there are any health concerns we need to be aware of. I will take you. Todoroki, go back to the dorms and keep this to yourself for now.'
 'Yes, Sensei.'
Before he could turn around though, Midoriya suddenly nuzzled against his leg in an effort to make him stay.
Shoto looked down questioningly to find wide eyes staring up at him, filled with emotion. Unable to simply walk away from such an expression, he crouched down to stroke his chin.
'It's okay, Midoriya. I won’t be gone for long.'
As it turned out, it was not okay.
The moment Aizawa bent down to pick him up, Midoriya went feral. He jumped into the air to escape his teacher's incoming hands and landed a metre to his left.
'Problem child.' Aizawa warned, before trying again. However, Midoriya repeated the action, then bounced in a zigzag motion to evade capture. When he came to a stop, Shoto noticed the look of defiance on his face - if that were even possible.
Aizawa grumbled and fingered his capture weapon. 'Don't make me use this.'
Midoriya frowned before hopping to hide behind the desk. Their teacher followed him, muttering something about how 'you little gremlins never make it easy for me.'
Shoto stood, gawking as the two circled the desk comically. Eventually, Aizawa reached his breaking point and raised his capture weapon.
 However, Midoriya was ready.
Shoto watched in awe as emerald and scarlet lightning came to life with the activation of his quirk. Sparks danced around his friend's small form as he leapt into the air to avoid the scarf. With practiced ease, he bounced off the walls around them - his style similar to his human form - before he eventually landed behind him. Shoto looked down to find Midoriya hiding behind his leg and glaring up at their teacher.
'Midoriya.' Aizawa almost growled, crimson eyes flashing dangerously. The moment his erasure activated, the shining light vanished from around the rabbit. 'Come here, now.'
 Thump.
 Shoto stared, bemused.
'Are you serious?' Aizawa raised an eyebrow.
 Another thump.
'Don't you thump your foot at me, kiddo.' Their teacher snapped, albeit Shoto could tell the action had mellowed his anger. In any other situation, he might've smiled at the way pro-hero Eraserhead attempted to lecture a rabbit.
Now though, he had to play the peacemaker.
'Midoriya.' Shoto spoke gently. Angry eyes softened when they landed on him. 'If I stay with you, will you go to Recovery Girl? You can ride on my shoulder again?'
His friend considered this offer, before nodding once.
'Unbelievable.' Aizawa waved his hand, exasperated. 'You two will be the death of me.'
Shoto considered his teacher, before bending down to pick Midoriya up with ease. When he got settled on his shoulder, the two followed Aizawa out of the room.
As they walked down the corridor, he heard his teacher mutter, 'I swear, if you pull this shit again, I'll set Sushi on you.'
 'Who's Sushi?' Shoto asked.
 'None of your business.'
 🐇🐇
One thing Shoto quickly came to release, as he dutifully accepted his role as caregiver, was that Midoriya was a lot more clingy than usual.
He couldn't tell whether it was a side effect of the quirk or whether his friend was simply taking advantage of his adorableness and being affectionate because he knew no one would be able to deny him cuddles. Either way, Shoto didn't mind. He liked hugging Midoriya as much as he enjoyed receiving them.
He especially didn't mind that Midoriya seemed to be the most affectionate with him, as he watched his peers slowly come to terms with their classmate's temporary form.
'He's so tiny!' Ashido gushed, as Yaoyorozu stroked Midoriya, who looked rather content in her lap. 'I just wanna squeeze his cheeks and eat him all up!
 Midoriya squeaked at that.
'Stop scaring him, Ashido-san!' Yaoyorozu gasped, before scratching behind his ears to calm him.
'He knows I'm only joking.' She waved her off. 'We all know Bakugou's the one who likes rabbit stew anyway-'
'Ashido.' Shoto warned, as he strode towards where Yaoyorozu was sitting. He noticed how Midoriya trembled at the mention of Bakugou's name and immediately bent down, opening his arms. 'It's okay. He's not gonna hurt you. You want a hug?'
Nodding quickly, Midoriya jumped out of Yaoyorozu's lap, trusting Shoto to catch him in his arms and bring him close to his chest. Shoto cradled the back of his small head, stroking pointed ears as his other hand supported his fluffy butt. He tried to ignore the fact that he was technically groping his crush, but he couldn't hide his blush, especially when Midoriya reached up to lick his neck.
'That's so cute!' Hagakure exclaimed, shaking Ashido by the shoulders while the rest of the girls cooed at the display. 'I've never seen Todoroki-kun so affectionate!'
'Look at Deku-kun's little tongue, I'm dying!' Uraraka squealed with excitement as she bounced on the balls of her feet. 'Catch me, Iida-kun. I might swoon.'
'Urarak-ah!' The class president yelped as she dramatically fell into his arms. 'I told you to stay hydrated!'
'I'm just being dramatic, jeez!' Uraraka pouted, flopping against Iida.
Shoto raised an eyebrow at his friends' antics, before turning his attention back to Midoriya, who was nibbling at his shirt. He smiled softly at the action and stroked one of his ears.
'You're not allowed to eat my clothes, Midoriya.' He playfully scolded.
Then a thought occurred to him.
'Hey, Iida.' He spoke softly, not taking his gaze away from Midoriya, who stared up at him with big eyes. 'I need to fetch some food for Midoriya. He hasn't eaten all day, so could you look after him for me?'
Uraraka fell to the floor with a shriek and in seconds, Iida was in front of them.
'It would be my pleasure to look after Midoriya-kun!' He announced, before his voice suddenly dropped and he rubbed the back of his neck. 'In fact, I was actually hoping I would get the chance to hold him, but I did not want to presume that I had that privilege!'
'What do you think, Midoriya?' Shoto tilted his head to the side. 'Can Iida hold you?'
His friend nuzzled against him softly, before eventually nodding. He turned to the class president and Shoto lifted him up under the arms to hand to Iida, whose eyes were wide and nervous.
When Midoriya got settled, Shoto then stepped back, lip twitching slightly. 'What do you want? Rabbits like carrots, right?'
Midoriya stuck his tongue out and made a gagging noise, which Shoto found oddly amusing.
'Midoriya-kun!' Iida went to gesticulate, but quickly realised both his hands were occupied. 'It is important to get the right nutrition, especially given the fact that you are under the effect of a quirk!'
'It's okay, Iida.' Shoto narrowed his eyes at the rabbit. 'I know Midoriya won't say no to spinach.'
Little ears pointed upwards and his nose twitched with interest. Shoto's heart skipped a beat. 'I'll take that as a yes.'
In a moment of boldness, he then raised a finger and booped Midoriya's damp nose, before turning and heading to the kitchen.
When he arrived, he took some spinach from the fridge and rinsed it under the tap, then reached for Midoriya's favourite All Might bowl. Fully armed with his food, Shoto then looked over his shoulder and raised an eyebrow at Iida, who was trying not to hand chop Midoriya as he stroked him. Keeping his face neutral, lest he betray his amusement, he then made his way towards one of the more quiet members of his class, who was mixing some honey into his cup of tea.
'Koda, can I ask you something?' He mumbled, watching his classmate jump slightly at having been addressed.
When he realised Shoto was actually talking to him, Koda nodded, tilting his head to the side in question.
'Can you use your quirk on Midoriya?' Shoto scratched his cheek. 'Earlier, when I asked him if he was okay, he indicated that he was, but I want to be sure. I- I'm worried about him.'
Koda looked at him, knowingly - Shoto wasn't quite sure how to feel about that - then nodded softly and walked over to Midoriya. His classmate whispered something into a large ear and Shoto waited for the result.
Midoriya ground his teeth together as he seemed to reply, before his eyes met Shoto's own, a warmth in them that was oddly familiar and relaxing. He was so enraptured by them, he didn't notice that Koda had returned to his side until he flashed a thumbs up.
'Midoriya-san's okay.' He spoke in a high voice, slightly amused. 'He was slightly overwhelmed at first, because the quirk seems to make him act more on instinct, but now that he’s accepted that, he told me he's liking all the hugs and pets! He feels rather tall on your shoulder too. And er…'
 'Yes?'
'Er…' Koda grinned bashfully. 'Midoriya-san also said that "with Todoroki-kun fussing over me, I've never been better, so please tell him he doesn't need to worry about me".'
Shoto flushed at that, but before he could fruitlessly try to defend himself, the door to the common room slammed open.
 'DEKU!'
Shoto rolled his eyes and turned to find Bakugou storming into the room, making a beeline for Midoriya, who had frozen in Iida's arms. 'Is it true you're so pathetic you let a kid use their quirk on you?'
He came to a stop and stared at the rabbit, before he burst out laughing. 'Ha! Look at you! You really are pathetic!'
'Bakugou-kun!' Iida exclaimed. 'Please refrain from calling Midoriya such names!'
'Shut up, four eyes!' He growled. 'I'm just speaking the truth!'
Shoto placed his bowl of spinach on the counter and made his way over. Everyone was used to Bakugou's aggressive nature - whether they liked it or not - but that just fuelled Shoto’s need to protect Midoriya even more, especially in this state.
'No one wants you here, Bakugou.' He spoke firmly. 'If you're just going to run your mouth, you can do it somewhere else, where you won't use my best friend as your verbal punching bag.'
'Don't fucking tell me what to do, Half n Half!' He growled, baring his teeth at Shoto. 'Like I give a shit what you extras want!'
'You're making Midoriya-san uncomfortable.' Yaoyorozu stood up then, fists clenched. 'Bakugou-san I must insist you stop. He's had a rough enough day as it is.'
'Do I look like I care?'
'No, but you should.' Shoto crossed his arms over his chest and looked at him, coolly. 'He may look helpless, but that right there is a ruthless killing machine.'
'Fuck off, Half n Half. Like Deku could do anything to me.' He stuck his finger out to poke Midoriya. 'What are you gonna do? Eat a carro- AGH! YOU BASTARD!'
Shoto couldn't hide his smile when Midoriya bit Bakugou's finger in retaliation, a look of defiance on his face. His classmate reeled back, clutching his bloody hand, before he lunged for Midoriya. However, the latter was faster and leapt out of Iida's arms just as Bakugou crashed into the class rep and the two clattered to the floor with a shriek.
Green lightning coursed through Midoriya as he flew through the air towards Shoto, who instinctively opened his arms to catch him.
The moment he felt soft fur against him, Shoto took action, wrapping his arms around Midoriya and holding him close as his friend scrambled to burrow his head in the crook of Shoto's neck, trusting him to protect him.
Bakugou snarled as he wrestled himself off Iida and onto his feet. Before he could continue his attack though, Shoto raised his right arm and pointed it at him.
'You brought that on yourself, Bakugou.' His voice was even. 'Now back off. I'm not letting you anywhere near him.'
'Ha! Don't make me laugh.' Bakugou spat, tiny explosions popping from his hands.
Shoto noticed the way Midoriya pressed closer, sensitive to the loud noises as his damp nose wet his neck, and frowned. Lowering his temperature, he prepared to attack, when suddenly the door slammed open.
'I AM HERE TO SEE MIDORIYA-SHOUNEN!' All Might burst into the room, his muscled body flexing before he reverted back to his true form with a puff of smoke. Shoto watched, mildly concerned, as his teacher hacked up an inordinate amount of blood into a tissue.
When All Might eventually cleared his face and pocketed the tissue, he smiled sheepishly at the class. However, when he noticed Bakugou's fighting stance, Shoto's frost and Iida's mid-air hand chop, he frowned.
 'Am I interrupting something?'
'It's all under control, Sensei!' Yaoyorozu stepped between Shoto and Bakugou and clasped her hands together. 'Bakugou was just going to see Recovery Girl about his finger.'
 'The fu-'
'Really?' All Might raised an eyebrow. 'What happened?'
'That vermin bit me, so I'm gonna make him regret-'
'You invaded Midoriya-kun's personal space!' Iida frantically shouted. 'The consequences are justified.'
'Four-eyes, I swear to fuck, I'll end you!'
'Language, Bakugou-shounen.' All Might raised a finger. 'I'll deal with Midoriya-shounen, but right now, you need to go to the infirmary.'
Bakugou glared at his teacher and, for a moment, Shoto thought he'd refuse, when finally, the blonde tsked and turned away.
'Fucking rodent's probably gonna give me rabies.' He muttered as he stalked out of the room. When he was out of earshot, Shoto tilted his head to the side.
'How would we be able to tell the difference if he did have rabies?'
It was a genuine question, yet when everyone around him laughed - including a vibrating Midoriya - Shoto allowed himself a small smile.
 🐇🐇
Shortly after Bakugou departed, All Might took the opportunity to take Midoriya outside for a quick word. Shoto wasn’t entirely sure how many words were going to be exchanged during their conversation, seen as Midoriya couldn’t exactly talk, but he trusted the former number one hero to figure it out.
So, while he waited for his friend to return, Shoto wandered back to the kitchen, grabbed his food for Midoriya and took a moment to simply relax. As much as he loved spending time with his friends, all this socialising was starting to become rather overwhelming, so it was nice to finally have a quiet moment to himself, now that his classmates weren’t hounding him for information about Midoriya’s current state.
He managed ten minutes of pure Shoto-time, before he heard a cackle from the living room and the chaos began once more.
Preparing himself for worst, Shoto turned around, only to come face to face with verdant eyes, mere inches from his face. Shoto’s own eyes widened and he stepped back in shock, watching as a black and green rabbit floated lazily in the air.
 ‘Midoriya?’
His friend nodded to him in greeting, indifferent to the way his back legs rose higher as he began to rotate. His ears flopped against gravity as he turned upside down, nose twitching as he eyed the spinach in Shoto's hand.
Unable to look away, he fumbled to grab a leaf and brought it to Midoriya's mouth. His friend eagerly nibbled at it and in seconds it was gone.
Shoto watched, blinking dumbly, before he shook his head and finally found his voice.
'Uraraka, why is Midoriya floating?' He spoke calmly, raising his arm and poking soft fur so that his friend was upright once more. ‘Where’s All Might?’
‘He had to leave to make a phone call.’ Uraraka shrugged, then she watched as Midoriya continued floating across the room and grinned. ‘As for Deku-kun, he said he missed being tall, so I said I’d help him out.’
‘You speak rabbit now?’ He raised an eyebrow, unimpressed.
‘Miruko-san taught me a little, yeah!’ She crossed her arms over her chest and pouted. However, when Shoto shot her a look, she groaned and brought her hands together. 'You're no fun, Todoroki-kun. Release!'
Midoriya squeaked as the gravity returned to his body and he descended to the ground. Abandoning the bowl, Shoto dove forward to catch him, arms outstretched. He breathed a sigh of relief as a fluffy stomach made contact with his open palms, safe, before he landed on the floor with a thud, chin, elbows and stomach receiving carpet burn as he slid forward slightly.
'A bit of warning would've been nice.' He grumbled. However, his anger quickly dissipated when Midoriya hopped towards him and licked his nose in thanks.
'I knew you'd catch him.' Uraraka skipped forward and patted her friend on the head. 'See, Deku-kun. I told you Todoroki-kun would fall for you!'
Shoto buried his head in the carpet and groaned.
 🐇🐇
Shoto wasn't exactly sure how he got into this position. One minute, he was reclined in one of the common room armchairs, reading a manga he had borrowed from Sero, while Midoriya released some pent up energy by zooming around the room. The next moment, he awoke from an unexpected nap to find his friend laid across his chest, twitching as he slept.
Shoto looked down at him with a soft expression as he registered the way his hands had wrapped protectively around Midoriya whilst he slept. Not wanting to let go just yet, he absentmindedly stroked soft, dark fur, hugging his friend closer and watching the way Midoriya moved with each rise and fall of Shoto's chest.
The two stayed that way for a while; Midoriya gently snoozed while Shoto fussed over him, gradually working his hand up to rub his head. He tickled the crease where upright ears met his head, before Shoto reached his friend's whiskers. He noticed how Midoriya leant into the touch and felt himself smile.
Eventually though, in typical Midoriya fashion, his twitches increased in size and frequency as he dreamt, until the poor boy woke himself up with a full body convulsion. Alarmed, he lifted his head and looked around frantically, nose twitching as he smelt the environment.
'Hey, bunny.' Shoto soothed, eyes widening when he processed the nickname, but Midoriya didn't seem to mind. In fact, his friend physically relaxed at the sound of his voice, then turned his head to lick Shoto's hand in greeting.
His heart swelled. 'Must've been quite the dream if it woke you up.'
Midoriya squeaked, before hiding his face between his paws, embarrassed. His fluffy body shook when Shoto's chest rumbled with amusement.
'What were you dreaming about? All Might?'
 Midoriya shook his head.
 'Bakugou?'
Shoto shouldn't have felt such satisfaction when his friend growled at the mention of that name, but alas, he was a simple man.
'Were you dreaming about me?' He tried to sound playful, but couldn't hide the slight blush on his cheeks.
It didn't help that Midoriya just stared at him with big, round eyes, like he wanted to say something, then Shoto realised.
  Oh…
'You were chasing a cat, weren't you?' He asked, intelligently.
He didn't know rabbits could sigh, let alone with that much exasperation.
'No?' He quirked an eyebrow. 'I'm not sure then, you'll have to tell me about it when you can talk again.'
Midoriya shook his head, before he let out a big yawn.
'You still sleepy?' Shoto tilted his head to the side, scratching his friend's chin. 'Maybe we should head to bed then. Blink once for my room, twice for your room.'
Midoriya stared at him for a moment, as if to say, 'Are you sure?'
'I'm not leaving you on your own, Midoriya.' Shoto answered, as if it were obvious. 'What if something happened to you? You can’t use your phone, you don’t even have opposable thumbs.’
His friend scrunched his nose up and frowned, before he relented and blinked once.
‘My room it is.’ Shoto reluctantly stopped stroking Midoriya and picked him up. After setting him comfortably on his shoulder, he stood up, grabbed the discarded manga and exited the common room.
By the time he entered his dorm room and got Midoriya settled on his futon, his friend was already dozing off again, his breathing evening out as his head rested against the pillow. Smiling softly at the sight, Shoto switched into his pyjamas and laid down next to his friend.
He leant his cheek on his palm and observed his sleeping form, basking in the rare opportunity to shamelessly appreciate Midoriya, one of the most important people in his life, without fear of being discovered. Pointed ears twitched, closed eyes fluttered and his teeth ground together slightly. Shoto watched the small behaviours, heart suddenly feeling too large for his chest as emotion consumed him.
His mouth moved before he could think.
'I'd do anything to protect you, you know?' He whispered softly, reaching a hand out before faltering. 'I promise, I'll try my best to always keep you safe.'
When Midoriya snuggled further into the pillow, Shoto sighed and closed his eyes, sleep slowly returning.
He missed the way verdant eyes opened to regard him with unbridled emotion, before shuffling closer.
 🐇🐇
The first thing Shoto's hazy mind thought when he woke up the next morning was Heavy.
Groaning, he rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand, before blinking them open, sleep blurring his vision. When it finally cleared, Shoto noticed that something was laid on top of him…
Or to be more specific, someone.
Or to be even more specific, Midoriya?!
Shoto's eyes widened and his face immediately turned crimson. Midoriya Izuku was in his bed, cuddling Shoto and drooling all over his chest. His fluffy green hair tickled his neck and his large arm was wrapped around his waist protectively.
  How did…?
It was only when he remembered the events of yesterday that Shoto realised the quirk must have just worn off in his sleep, causing Midoriya to transform back into his usual self.
Nothing to worry about. Shoto told himself as he tried not to set his blanket on fire. You're glad he's back to normal. No need to feel- Wait…
Shoto narrowed his eyes with suspicion, before he gingerly raised the blanket covering them, his curiosity getting the better of him. When his eyes landed on way too much freckled skin, he suppressed a yelp and dropped the material.
His face felt like it was on fire, but before he could calm himself down, Midoriya suddenly roused. He squished his cheek against Shoto's chest, before he groaned and looked up at him, scratching his disheveled hair and smiling.
'Hey, Todoroki-kun.' He mumbled, before rolling off Shoto and stretching. Luckily, the blanket still covered his lower body, but the frontal view of Midoriya's muscled torso was still too much for Shoto's heart that early in the morning.
'Morning, Midoriya.' He replied, ignoring the way his voice squeaked slightly. 'How do you feel?'
‘I feel great, all thanks to you!’ His friend replied, chirpily. ‘Thank you for looking after me yesterday. I know it was a little difficult at times.’
‘I’ll always look after you, Midoriya.’ Shoto shrugged, ignoring the blush on his cheeks.
‘Does that mean I can still cuddle you when I want to?’ Midoriya wiggled his eyebrows friskily, albeit he chuckled nervously. However, his playfulness was lost on Shoto.
‘Of course, it does.’ He fiddled with his blanket and looked away, realising his bluntness. ‘I like cuddling you and looking after you.’
Midoriya’s teasing smile faltered and he gazed at Shoto, curiously. Several seconds passed, before his friend nudged closer and reached out a trembling hand.
‘What about this?’ He cupped Shoto’s cheek and stroked the area under his scar with a gentleness that juxtaposed the raw strength he knew Midoriya possessed. The touch was so warm, Shoto felt himself nod, eyelids fluttering shut. ‘Good, because yesterday made me realise a lot of things, gave me the opportunity to figure out what I want… What you might want.’
Shoto exhaled shakily at that, not trusting himself to speak.
When Midoriya spoke next, he sounded a lot closer and Shoto’s eyes shot open when warm breath fanned his face. ‘I know that I want to be closer to you, if that’s what you want too? I know this isn’t the same as yesterday, but-’
‘Am I definitely awake right now?’ Shoto interrupted, swallowing heavily.
 Midoriya smiled at that.
 ‘Yes.’
‘Good.’ Shoto placed his hand over the top of Midoriya’s own and leant forward to close the gap between them. He rubbed his lips against his friend’s own, before he kissed him softly, admiring the way slightly chapped lips pressed back. When they pulled away, Midoriya rested his forehead against his own and laughed breathlessly.
‘I’m glad you waited until I turned back into a human before doing that.’
Shoto hummed softly and leant in to whisper in his ear.
‘Well, it’s not every day you wake up to find your best friend naked in your bed.’ He sat back then and waited as verdant eyes widened with realisation and Midoriya lifted the blanket to find that he was, indeed, not wearing any clothing.

nightmare // colby brock
apologies if this is dreadful, i just wanted to write a soft colby blurb and i had a cute request to write this.
requested: yes - i also decided to use number 16 from this prompt list.
summary: colby has a nightmare and you comfort him.
word count: 1.4k words.
warnings: one swear word.
my writing
//
boot-clad feet walking across the hard wood is what prompts your eyes to fly open from your slumber. confusion is written all over your face as you lift your head off the white fluffy pillows, head whipping up to see who the culprit is, who was stalking further into the room.
“colbs, is that you?” you ask quietly, voice slightly groggy, due to the hours of sleep that you have managed to consume since colby left the house with the boys to explore an abandoned hospital.
“yeah, it’s me baby. sorry for startling you.” he whispers back to you, resulting in your shoulders deflating in relief.
“it’s okay, don’t worry. how was exploring?” resting on your elbows, your eyes follow your boyfriend’s every move. you watch him kick off his black boots and shove them next to the cupboard, too lazy and tired to put them back into their original spot in his walk-in wardrobe.
“it was amazing, we managed to catch some really creepy stuff on camera. i’ll show you the footage tomorrow, i don’t want you to be too scared to sleep.” he responds, even though his back is facing you, you know there is a proud smile written on his gorgeous face because it’s evident in his voice. his hands skilfully unbuckle his belt and pop the button open of his black skinny jeans, before he drags them down his thighs and legs and kicks them off to the side.
“good idea, you know i won’t sleep tonight if you do.” you chuckle, your eyes observing the way his back muscles clench when he peels his shirt off his body, chucking the used tshirt onto the floor adding to the pile of his clothes, before turning around and strolling towards the bed to join you.
after getting himself comfy on his side of the bed, he opens his arms wide, inviting you to lay onto his warm chest. smiling softly, you scoot yourself up and wrap your arms tightly around his waist, leaving a gentle kiss to his chest before laying down. automatically, his arms circle around your body, holding you close to him almost as if he is scared you will fall out of his embrace during the night.
“i missed you.” you mumble, lips brushing against his chest with every syllable, causing the brunette to shiver slightly under your touch. his reaction makes you lift your head to look at him, nose touching his jaw as you smile up at him.
“i missed you more,” he mumbles back, tiredness begging to take over his body, and you are fully aware of this as the man yawns loudly before lifting one hand up to rub his eyes gently. after rubbing his eyes to help remove some of the fatigue, he cranes his neck down and presses his lips to yours, humming in satisfaction when you pucker your lips against his with the same amount of force. “i love you, sleep tight.”
“i love you too, get some sleep. you look exhausted, baby.” you press a final kiss to his pink lips, raising one hand to brush some purple strands that have fallen into his face, out of his face, before returning your head securely back onto his chest.
sleep seemed to take control of colby’s body fairly quickly and you’re not surprised at all. the four boys left the house at around seven in the afternoon and didn’t return home until around three in the morning, as the drive to and from the abandoned hospital was two and a half hours long.
colby’s chest raising and deflating steadily is what urges your eyes to softly shut, arms circling colby’s chest tightly as you fall into a deep slumber again.
--
colby could feel his breathing quicken rapidly, as he watched himself walk through the dark halls of the hospital behind his closed eyelids. he was alone, not a sound filling the corridor, only the occasional creek of the door and the howl of the wind that gushes through the smashed windows.
as he turned the corner, his walking came to an abrupt halt, eyes widening as his pupils flick over the shadow-like figure in front of him. the sound of his boots squeaking against the white lino flooring of the corridor is what makes the shadow turn around and start walking towards where colby is standing.
he wanted to run and find his best friends, he really did, but he was unable to do so. his body wouldn’t move an inch, even though colby was trying his hardest in his dream to run for the hills, and his eyes scanned the figure as it got closer and closer to him, fear striking through his body.
colby’s heaving chest and quick breathing pulls you out of your slumber immediately. sitting up in a hurry and frowning deeply to see colby’s body shaking as he dreamed. you knew you shouldn’t wake someone up when they are having a nightmare, but it pained you so much to see colby having a terrifying dream.
“colby, baby?” you say softly, trying your hardest not to startle him even more. your hands thread through his hair to help comfort him in anyway and to coax him out of his nightmare.
before the black figure could get any closer to him, colby’s eyes fly open. his chest heaves and his eyes frantically search around the room to find the figure that was in his dream. he visibly jumps in fright when he is met with your face hovering over his, causing you to frown even deeper and eyebrows to cross together in sadness.
“baby, its just me. you’re okay.” your hands carefully caress his cheeks, as if you were scared he was going to break at any moment. your eyes search his face when he squeezes his eyes shut tightly to concentrate on his breathing, trying to get his heart rate back to normal. “it’s just a nightmare, i’ve got you.”
colby could feel his eyes start to pool with water, tears of fear threatening to spill over his waterline and onto his warm cheeks, as he sits up in the bed. his hands fly around your waist, pulling you close to him as he buries his head into your neck, breathing in the scent of your body wash and shampoo to help ground himself.
“you’re okay, colbs. it wasn’t real.” you speak, voice soft and calm, as you pepper gentle kisses to the top of his head. your arms loop around his shoulders to hold his shaking body even closer to you. “it was just a dream.”
as he clings to your body for dear life, your fingers gingerly wander across his shoulders, drawing random shapes and patterns into his skin to help soothe him. you know it’s helping a little bit when you feel his shoulders start to relax and his breathing is less staggered.
“fuck, that felt so real.” he mumbles, voice muffled against your neck, followed by a quiet sniffle. he pulls away from your neck ever so slightly, watery eyes glancing up at you. before another tear could fall down his beautiful face, you peel one arm from around him and lift it up, wiping away the salty tear quickly, before pressing a soft kiss to his hot forehead.
“do you want to talk about it?” you mumble against his forehead, peppering more comforting kisses to it as you know he loves it when you do this, which causes the man to smile ever so slightly, resulting your chest to fill with happiness to see his smile again.
“no,” he shakes his head, sighing loudly of exhaustion of the night and from his nightmare. “i just want to cuddle you, if that’s okay?”
“of course it is, baby.” you send him a warm smile, which he returns. leaning down so your lips are hovering over his, you brush your lips with his for a loving kiss, before pulling away and laying back down again.
opening your arms fully, you watch as he leans down to rest his head into the crook of your neck, arms and legs wrapping around your body tightly, as you do the same.
“i love you, colbs. try and get some sleep okay?” you whisper after he has gotten himself comfortable, you can feel your eyes drooping as tiredness hits you all at once, but you’re determined to stay awake until colby is fully asleep.
“i love you more, thank you for being here for me.” he responds, leaning up to press a loving open-mouthed kiss to your jaw to show his appreciation, before resting his head back down and nuzzling his head even deeper into your neck.
“no need to thank me, bubs. it’s what i’m here for. you do the same for me.”
silence takes over the room. colby’s deep and steady breaths fill your ears as your fingers move through his locks of purple and brunette locks, massaging his scalp tenderly. the feeling of your fingers working through his strands makes him close his eyes again, before falling into a deep sleep again, not before pressing one last kiss to the side of your neck.

coffee n’ conversations
Atsumu x Reader - Scenario
event request: “Congrats on 600!!! You deserve it so much I love your blog 🥺 May I request 5 [”Please don’t go.”] w/ Tsum tsum ty”
a/n: mm because this prompt got angsty last time, i decided to go all out fluff for Atsumu. the guy just needs caffeine. and you. that’s it.
warnings: slight language
wc: 1380
---
Coffee excursions have always been Atsumu’s thing.
He needed it to survive.
Maybe it’s 5am after a chilly morning run just as the sun is peaking over the horizon. Or it could be 2 am, convincing his eyes to stay open as he attempts to finish a shitty finals paper while slowly sipping on a bitter black coffee to get him through the night.
But whatever the matter is, he always finds a way to have a coffee wedged between his fingers, warming him up from the outside in.
Atsumu without energy is like a badly-written, teen angst novel. Tired, irritable, and slow. The sharp, chocolatey tang and the much-needed energy boost, keeps him from collapsing into a soggy, frustrated pile of mush. It was a life and grade saver.
To Atsumu, coffee is delicious when enjoyed in solitude or socially...
But with you? Coffee adventures are a tad different.
Their purpose? A little more personal. The caffeine? For more than just a buzz.
And, in true Atsumu fashion, these coffee dates somehow end up in the evening, walking down a streetlamp lit sidewalk with a to-go cup in hand or snuggled under piles of blankets at his place. Ever since you started dating him, he’s been screwing over your sleep schedule in more ways than one. But surprisingly, this might be your favorite way.
It didn’t matter how tired you both already were, on the weekends, a coffee date always ensued after your initial date ended.
The words would always trickle out,
“Please don’t go, yet. I’ll buy you a coffee if ya stay.” He flashes you a grin, eyes shining with his utmost charm on display.
“’Tsumu… I’ve got work in the morning.” You sigh, brushing his hair off of his forehead only to watch it fall right back into place, every strand faintly lit up by glowing street lamps.
“C’monnn, babe, please. I know ya wanna...” He leans in towards your face, his breath tickling your ear, but you just hum in response. Ignoring his advances was always a little fun. He was easy to rile up.
Cue a sigh of frustration from the blonde, “We can head back to my place after.” He entices, slithering a sneaky arm around your waist, tickling you and causing you to tuck into his side.
You playfully swat at his arm with your free hand and drop your head in resignation, accepting the fact that you were bound to forever be exhausted and simultaneously riding a caffeine high. But how could you say no? He could get you flustered and excited about practically anything with that affectionately mischievous smile.
Minutes later, you find yourself hand-in-hand with the brown-eyed blondie. Your other hand grasps a hot, milky cappuccino.
The proximity of his house to the coffee shop makes the walk back short and pleasant.
This portion of your late-night coffee routine was always especially quiet. The silences allows for your footsteps to echo as the two of you make your way up the concrete stairway to his apartment.
You’re both greeted by his familiar entrance area, kicking off shoes and removing jackets. Gentle shadows vanish after a soft light is switched on and you shuffle over to the couch with your drink in hand. ‘Tsumu follows promptly, plopping onto the opposite side of the couch, but tangling his long legs with yours. But as soon as your soft eyes meet his lively ones, the words begin to flow out of your mouths like a gentle stream.
It’s an unpacking of sorts. From your relationship, to current memes, to trying to convince him to change his hair color… It;s endless and unbridled and  cushioned with promises of cuddles, giggles, and sips of coffee. Your conversations are full of running gags and familiar topics. Topics and jokes that then set the tone for deeper, more serious conversations.
“Y/n, if ya coulda gone back and chosen between me and ‘Samu, who would ya really be datin’ right now?” He smirks whilst grabbing your calve and squeezing it a little, prompting this question for what must be the 10th time in the past year.
You shoot him a playful look, your eyes squinting in mock deliberation as you take another sip from the open-topped coffee cup, the foam catching on your lip. Atsumu notices and sits up, reaching across the couch to wipe it away with his thumb, giving you slight smirk.
Instead of moving back to his initial position, he grabs the cup from your hand and places it on a wooden side table. You don’t fight him over it - this is clearly an important question to him. Atsumu then lays across you, snuggling into your chest and letting you pet his hair like a needy puppy.
“I dunno ‘Tsumu… what do you think?” You prod, knowing that this is a far more sensitive topic to him than he’ll ever let on.
He gives you an exasperated sigh.
“I asked ya first, dumbass. That’s not how these conversations work, stupid.” He tucks his head into the crook of your neck, pressing a soft kiss there.
If your coffee had been mixed with a little bit of alcohol, your answer might’ve been teasing. Less thought out - he would receive an answer that could only feed into his insecurities...
But having a clear mind could be good sometimes. Especially when it came down to the twins and your relationship with them.
The three of you had been close for many years, so you’d had crushes on both of them at one time or another. But late into your college years, you realized that you and Sumu fit perfectly together. And it may have also helped that he actually liked you back.
You needed the sense of adventure he brought to the table. To banter back and forth with flirty comments, battling to become the snarkier lover. And of course, you loved that dating him meant more of these iconic coffee outings.
But Atsumu heard about your high school crush on Osamu much later into your relationship. And it shouldn’t have bothered him that you’d been crushing on his brother. That was years ago when hormones and the pressure to date was at an all-time high. Completely in the past.
But you knew it nagged at him. The frequency of the question being the telltale sign.
So you lean your head down, kissing his hair, relishing the way it tickled your nose and chin. Then you grace him with a contented sigh, ruffling the strands, sinking him deeper into the already comfortable position.
“Sumu, you’re my favorite, alright?” You feel him smile against your collarbone and small grin forms on your face. “Is that what you wanted to hear?” You tease.
He rolls his eyes but responds honestly.
“Ya know me so well. Why don’tcha go ahead n’ say it again, y/n?” He presses another kiss, this time to your bare shoulder.
“Mm, yeah, you’re my favorite person…” You hum, brushing a hand down his back.
“And so handsome. Your jawline? Babe, it’s so perfect. I’m kinda jealous actually.”
He won’t admit it, but your compliments get him flustered. Sumu’s just grateful that he doesn’t blush easily. So he stays quiet, soaking in your sweetness.
“The way you look after a match? I’m always like… damn, that’s my boyfriend.” You stroke his back and his ego.
“You’re definitely my boy.” You murmur while planting a kiss on his forehead, hugging his head.
“But it’s not your looks I’m after, babe.” It’s quiet, but the way your voice carries those words feels heavier than any other comment.
“Because if that were true, I probably could have settled for Samu…”
You pause, looking him directly in the eye. You gaze is gentle, but steady.
“But you? Yeah. You’re the one for me.”
You want to laugh at how soppy you sound. You’re pretty much the epitome of ‘sickeningly sweet.’
But that’s just where these discussions lead. And you both go with the flow.
Coffee is just another gateway to rare, beautiful moments with Atsumu. His filter on the deeper, more personal topics is removed and you’re opened up to green lush worlds of conversation and star-speckled galaxies of thought.
To think there was a time you’d summed him up as a shallow asshole.
Well… sometimes he still is.
But that doesn’t matter, because it’s you that he shows the puzzle pieces of his mind to. And he loves to decipher yours as well. These coffee fueled moments are the least chaotic of your interactions. They’re the calmest. The snuggliest.
And it’s still Atsumu. In all of his glory.
“Thanks for always stayin’, y/n. I don’t know what I’d do without ya.” He says sleepily, sinking deeper into your chest as the buzz finally wearing off in the four o’ clock hour.
“Well, if you keep supplying the coffee, I won’t be going anywhere, cutie.”

so... that new his dark materials on HBO got me feeling some things and thinking... Memos HDM AU?
Memos His Dark Materials AU Ko-Fi Request
(for context for the excerpt down below this, when someone’s daemon makes contact with another person’s daemon, it’s considered very personal and intimate. This is normal between family members and very close friends or loved ones, say, Luffy’s daemon would probably touch all his nakama’s left and right just fine, but for certain others, this may come as a bit of an alarming little sensation for them since people feel what their daemons feel and the same vice versa as extension of their souls)
- Hoku’s daemon is a white panther named Hau.
The two of them don’t get along very well and tend to get on each other’s nerves due to personal reasons. They’re capable of being a fairly good distance apart even though this isn’t normal and considered painful for most people. They sort of trained themselves to be able to be apart because they felt following their independent values was most important. It’s a bit of a messy situation but they’re the first ones either of them would turn to no matter what. He has the same marking she has painted around the curve of his left eye because it’s tradition for Pokians to paint it onto their daemons when they come of age. All daemons from Artopoki are also always colored white just like their hair.
His name means “happiness” in Hawaiian.
- Mahina’s daemon is a white horse while Manu’s is a small white wild cat. Mihawk’s is a massive, massive ink black raven named Sable. She and Mahina’s daemon got along really well.
- Shank’s daemon is a reddish tinted lionness who goes by Reina. Hoku and Hau are a bit smitten by her but Hau kind of hates Shanks, maybe not hate but he tends to be on the more skeptical end of him versus Hoku being a little doe-eyed for the man. Hau loved Mihawk though. Mihawk was the first person to ever touch him outside of Hoku’s parents (human to daemon contact is a super big deal when it’s not family or intimate loved ones, daemon to daemon is a little more tolerable but raises some brows)
- Luffy’s daemon settles as a springy lionness name Soleil who he calls Sol. She’s very energetic and can’t really read a room but she makes up for it with energy. She and Luffy are two peas in a pod.
- Nami’s daemon is an orange fox named Riki, the greatest thieving duo across the East Blue.
- Zoro’s is a massive bengal tiger named Masumi and she’s got a much more approachable personality than her counterpart but tends to be just as lazy and ferocious.
- Usopp’s is a chameleon by the name of Emmo. She’s a bit of a coward too but she’s funny.
- Sanji’s is a beautiful, rather stunning lady jackrabbit by the name of Celine who loves beautiful people and kicking. She seems a little wiser than Sanji.
- Brook’s is the skeleton of a songbird named Aretha. They’re the strangest case on the Grand Line because of his devil fruit. She sings beautifully for a pile of bones though.
- Franky’s is a female beaver named Aspen, they’re pretty much carbon copies of each other.
- Robin’s is a black owl named Yuval. He’s on the quieter side and tends to creep people out on first glance but he’s a very gentlemanly owl.
- Ace’s ends up settling as a red and black lynx by the name of Iskra. Sabo’s is a peregrine falcon named Brisa.
- Vivi’s is a fennec fox named Seti.
- I couldn’t decide of Kid’s should be one hell of a murderous honey badger with attitude named Naga or a crocodile or a bear. Any of those three felt pretty right but I lean more toward the honey badger HAHAHA.
- Law’s daemon is a snow leopard named Estrella. These two are an especially dangerous duo and Estrella tends to be a bit more on the mysterious side at first.
- - - - - - -
“Your blood,” Shank said, cupping her cheek. “Is worth treasures more than his.”
Hau bit at Shanks’ cloak, snarling as a white husky in protest, trying to pull him away. Reina watched him in utter amusement.
Steam exploded from Hoku’s ears, her entire face flushing red.
“Oops, hey, someone get Makino! I’m worried dove’s got a fever!”
- - - - - - -
“It’s nothing but a childish crush,” Hau said pointedly to her, perfectly aware of the fluttery, gross feelings inside Hoku spilling over to him. He walked after her, lashing his tail angrily while Hoku stared up at the sky in a daze. Shanks had just given them a living, ripe kiionohi tree. “He just thinks we’re cute kids. He likes teasing us. This is how he took Luffy!”
Hau worked over-time to remain as indifferent toward Shanks as Hoku originally wanted to be. Hoku had just given up and rolled over to the fact that Shanks was just… so hard to dislike. Was there even a reason to dislike him? Sure, she still got jealous that Luffy was so damn fond of him, but when Luffy was always pulling her around despite that, promising she was his first before anyone else—
“Are you listening to me?” Hau hissed at her, biting her ankle in protest. Hoku looked down at him. “I don’t like him! He’s just another schmuck! Nothing’s gonna happen anyway! Dream on! We’re just kids to him, got it?”
“I know that,” Hoku snapped, cheeks flushing. “I-It’s just adoration. Childish adoration. What do you think I’m gonna do, ask him to marry me?”
“No,” Hau muttered, “but don’t get any ideas.”
“I’m not,” Hoku snapped back at him, lightly nudging his paws. Hau swiped at her. “He’s just… he’s just charming, is all. And you’re one to talk, you know. You look at anyone that’s willing to scratch your ears like they’re god!”
“I don’t let people scratch me behind the ears!” Hau protested. “No one’s allowed to touch me!”
“Yeah,” Hoku snorted. “Except Luffy, right? I feel what you feel too, dumbass. Think about how it feels for me to get scratched behind the ears too, okay?”
Hau grumpily settled down onto his haunches, stubbornly looking over to the side, “But it’s Luffy.”
Hoku could understand that, but it didn’t make the sensation any more normal. Actually, I might be starting to get used to that. Luffy’s so damn touchy it’ll kill me. She didn’t even flinch anymore when Hau and Soleil were pressed tight together, rolling around or tumbling about each other or cuddled up in a pile. Luffy’s warm fingers patting Hau’s head, hefting him up into his arms—that was still something she was getting used to.
Or Hoku, cupping Soleil’s head in her hands, pressing a kiss to the top of the daemon’s head, committing utter taboo. Hoku, letting Soleil cozy up to the crook of her neck, shove her face into Hoku’s hand, weave between her fingers while Luffy laughed beside them—
The four of them, touching each other’s daemons, each other’s partners, each other’s souls—
But I am getting used to it. Hoku shivered. Never touching anyone’s daemon, huh?
Hau lashed his tail, “I won’t let Shanks touch me, you can count on that.”
“You’re just jealous,” Hoku said. “Luffy and Soleil already said we’re first. And it’s not like Shanks is going to be here forever, he’s a pirate, remember?”
Hoku rubbed the side of her arm, looking down at her shoes, “He’s just… he’s just become Luffy’s idol. You see how he looks at him—Luffy knows what he wants to do now ‘cause of him.”
Hau huffed, whiskers twitching. Hoku gave him a little shove and Hau shifted into a bull, ramming at the back of her knees as Hoku laughed, shoving back at him.
Shanks was just a bit of fun, that was it.
- - - - - - - -
But Reina didn’t play by the rules.
“You’re getting faster, little dove.”
Hoku almost screamed. Her heart lodged into her throat, forcing her to choke as Mau nearly clattered onto the dirt from her hands had she not hooked it last minute. She apologized to the amused blade, checking for scratches and trying to work out a game plan in her head.
Hau frowned. As deep of a frown as an unhappy skunk could make, sitting by a log and looking pointedly Reina’s way.
She didn’t know when Shanks’ daemon had made her way over to them or where Shanks was, probably with Luffy to be honest, but there Reina was, living up to her name.
The lioness daemon was stretched out onto a fat slab of rock jutting upwards from the ground. Luffy used it as a launching platform a lot when they were playing. Her red-gold body rippled, leisurely soaking up the sunlight.
Hoku’s fingers itched.
Reina watched them with golden irises.
“Thanks,” Hoku said, trying not to be awkward but feeling very much so. “I’m not there yet though.”
Reina’s chest rumbled, a deep sound that made Hau wrinkle his nose in protest. She laid her head down onto her paws, rolling over onto her side. Hoku noticed the scars lining her softer underbelly, the notch missing from a piece of her flicking tail.
“You’ll get there,” Reina said soothingly. “Why don’t you take a break?”
I feel like I’m talking to the devil. Hoku shivered. Temptation incarnate. “I haven’t hit my number of swings yet.”
“Shanks and Luffy are playing by the harbor,” Reina almost purred. “Don’t you want to join?”
Hoku frowned at her boots. Yes. “No. I’m glad Shanks is taking up all his time.”
Reina’s ear twitched. Her eyes glimmered playfully. Hoku felt as though if her feet weren’t planted firmly to begin with, she’d already be making her way over to the lioness for no reason other than the fact that Reina seemed to be beckoning her over.
“How come you two can be so far apart?” Hau blurted. Hoku shot him a look of disbelief.
Reina’s whiskers twitched in amusement.
Hau hunkered down, waving his big bushy tail. “I-Isn’t it painful? It’s weird, daemons aren’t supposed to be able to do that.”
“You two seem to be able to go fairly far,” Reina murmured. “Is that not strange?”
Hoku and Hau flinched.
Reina laid her head down onto the rock, letting the sun color her pelt. She looked crimson gold in the sunlight. “He and I simply found it in ourselves to promise to live our lives to the fullest and the freest.”
Reina seemed to smile, lips pulling back to show her fangs. “Besides, like this, I can be with Luffy and he can be with little dove at the same time, hmm?”
Hoku and Hau blinked in confusion. They looked at each other and back to Reina who’d rolled over to show them her back, settling down for a nice, long nap.
“Finish up those swings, dove,” Reina purred. “Then let’s play.”
I miss Luffy. Hoku miserably flattened herself down against the grass, Mau propped up onto a trunk beside her. Hau was chirping haughtily in the tree branch above her, flapping his white wings even though he was supposed to be a toucan. I always run off even when he’s playing with Shanks. Maybe I should just suck it up and have fun with them too. Or, not fun. Just… spend time. Yeah.
Hoku groaned, rubbing her sweaty face with her hands.
“About time,” Hau chirped at her. “Let’s go! I don’t care if Shanks and everyone else is there, I want to see Luffy and Sol.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Hoku snapped. “I heard ya. You just want to get touched again.”
Hau flattened, ruffling his feathers, “That’s not true!”
It absolutely is. Hoku sighed, preparing her aching muscles to lift her sluggish body up. Hau was practically touched starved and Luffy’s generous pats were like a drug. He did a good job making sure Shanks never got near him though. Hoku didn’t even flinch. Touching other people’s daemons is still such a weird feeling though, I can’t get used to anyone else but them.
She’d only ever touched Sable twice. Ki and Kekoa didn’t count because they were family. Soleil was the only one she ever really touch-touched, and even then, it was still a sensation Hoku felt all the way to the tip of her toes and down to her bones. Intimate.
Bet no one else has a daemon willing to get himself pet. Hoku peeked through her fingers at Hau who jumped from the branch and shifted into a little white butterfly. He’d turn into a dog later because it was easier to play with Luffy like that. What daemon goes up to someone to get themselves touched?
Some taboos just weren’t meant to be crossed.
A shadow fell over Hoku’s face and she blinked, moving her hands away to look up.
Reina looked down at her.
Hoku froze, stiff against the ground like a corpse. Her heart hammered stupidly loud in her chest, loud enough to burst through her ears. From this spot, she could make out every fine, red-gold hair smoothed over Reina’s slender face. She could see the dark lines that traced her feline gold eyes, followed the slope of her muzzle, to the long, elegant whiskers—a few cut short, and the few scars that lined her soft nose.
This was the closest she had ever been to the daemon.
She could sense heat from the lioness, hulking power and muscle. Reina’s killing paws sat on either side of her head. She could crush Hoku’s skull without much effort. Rip her throat out. In another world, Hoku would be fearing for her life—even in this world, Hoku was still fearing for her life, but, but, maybe death at the hands of such a beautiful, powerful daemon couldn’t be that awful.
Hoku waited, staring at Reina with wide eyes.
Reina blinked once, slowly. Something like amusement seemed to shift over the fine hairs on her face and she lowered her head over Hoku’s. Her body seized up, unable to breathe.
And then languidly, a warm, wet and scratchy pink tongue rolled once across her face, down her forehead to her lips and over her chin. Reina pulled away, satisfied, looking down at Hoku’s disheveled, slightly wet face and bulging eyes before calmly sauntering off, hips swaying.
It took her a moment. A good, solid moment. Her heart did something funny, her body frozen stiff and ascended to some other plain of existence, her mind whirring and still buzzing from the electricity of the slightest contact with—
Someone else’s daemon—
 Reina—
Shanks’ daemon—
Touched—
Hoku’s face blushed a bright, scarlet red. She grabbed her face with her hands and rolled around in the dirt like the little bug she was.
Hau jealously nudged her face with his little ferret nose, huffing and puffing in displeasure.
She’d never been touched by someone else’s daemon before.
- - - - - - - -
The final nail into her own coffin was done by Hoku’s own hands.
At the crack of dawn, when the light was just beginning to crawl its way out of the horizon to peek over into the sky. Just hours before, Hoku had finally shown Shanks the book, speaking with him in the low light of that bar and making a total fool of herself—enough for Hau to tease and taunt her about it for hours until they fell asleep.
She woke up earlier than Luffy today, leaving him snoring in her hammock with Soleil sprawled as a baby badger over him. Hau woke up, slithering into her shirt and keeping himself warm by her stomach as they walked out into the forest.
Reina was already waiting for them.
“Dove,” Reina greeted, velvet voice carrying over as Hoku trudged through the dewy grass. Sunlight was warming her pelt, heating it up like a forge and turning the red-gold of her pelt darker and brighter.
Hau muttered a low, half-reluctant protest. Yesterday, Luffy had picked him up, holding him close and willingly thrusted Hau toward Shanks like some kind of sacrificial offering.
Shanks didn’t take the daemon, simply grinning in understanding at Hau’s horrified expression. Her daemon had never felt more betrayed.
“Hau, you gotta get along with everyone!” Luffy laughed. “Don’t be dumb like Hoku!”
Hoku couldn’t stop the greedy, uncontrollable itch in her fingers.
“...good morning,” Hoku mumbled, tucking hair behind her ear out of habit. Reina was stretched out, regal and picture perfect on that same slab of stone. Dawn was rising over the fine curve of her spine and the lioness kept her gaze on them evenly, waiting as Hoku slowly came to stand beside the slab of rock.
Reina’s ears swiveled forward. She watched Hoku, eyes glittering. A soft sound left her parted jaws.
Hoku hesitantly took a seat on the rock, a few inches away from Reina. She could feel heat rising from the daemon, her head turning to follow Hoku as they stared at each other.
She weakly raised one hand. Hau’s heartbeat matched her own.
“Could I… Could I draw you?”
Reina’s jaws parted to let out a soft rumble. Her body curved more, keeping Hoku in the middle. Her paws stretched out and Reina kept her eyes evenly on Hoku’s.
Hoku softly set her hand down on Reina’s side. Warmth flooded into her fingertips, spreading up her arm and making half her body feel almost numb with the sensation. Hoku’s head spun, buzzing with that vibrant thrum of energy as Reina’s pelt shifted under her fingertips. Hoku daringly let her hand come down Reina’s spine, feeling the muscles and scars in one gentle stroke.
Reina’s scratchy tongue dragged over Hoku’s hand in approval.
“I hope that man is deep, deep asleep,” Hau muttered. Hoku agreed.
She thought her heart was going to burst.

“This place is crawling with marines now,” Smoker said. “What are you going to do? Let them arrest you like some kind of washed up drunk?”
Hoku lightly pushed the glass in front of her. The bartender nervously refilled the glass, jumping in fear when Smoker glared daggers at him.
“Hoku,” Smoker said.
The woman kept swallowing mouthfuls of the whiskey in her cup, ignoring him. Blanca’s fur had settled over her back, smoothing out. His daemon watched the woman before them in silence, looking at Hau and then back to Hoku.
A soft sound left Blanca’s lips. Smoker shot her a warning look. The smoky colored husky daemon lowered her tail.
“What happened to all that spunk?” Smoker continued. “You don’t give two shits if I cuff you and take you in from here?”
Hoku didn’t even turn to look at them. She kept her shoulders hunched, curling in on herself over the bar’s countertop and refusing to meet the gazes burning into her back. The empty glasses spread out across the wood counter beside her, the heavy smell of alcohol settling amidst the cigarette smoke.
Hau kept silent at her feet, curled up and head low. Smoker observed the daemon carefully, noticing the matted fur, the dirt stains in the crisp white that used to be his go-to for hunting them down in the crowd. His unsheathed claws, caked with dried dirt and blood. The cleanest spot was the blood red ink curled over his half-hidden face under the countertop’s shadow.
A new spot was inked into his fur. A small, blood red flame right where the muscle of his shoulder blade bunched under his right foreleg. Smoker’s eyes traveled upwards to the matching red flame inked into Hoku’s skin over her right shoulder blade.
“This is it?” Smoker said gruffly.
Hoku snorted. Blanca shot him a look, gray eyes hard to read but Smoker never needed to read her eyes, he could hear her thoughts loud and clear in his own head, in the space they shared.
“Who cares,” Hoku muttered bitterly. “You got what you wanted.”
Blanca fell silent. Smoker shot his daemon a sharp look, but she refused to meet his gaze, tail limp behind her and ears pricked far forward, focused on the woman before them.
Hoku bowed her head. Her hands went up, carding through her hair, holding them there as though she were cradling her head in her hands.
“You won,” Hoku whispered.
His daemon took a step forward.
“Blanca,” he warned.
The husky kept her muzzle shut, looking at him.
“Smoker.”
Smoker tossed his cigar to the side. His gloved hand clenched into a fist before it loosened. Smoker let out an aggravated sigh, shaking his head. He took a step forward, raising his hand up.
Hau’s growl ripped through the air like a knife. A single, resounding warning. Smoker glanced down to the daemon, glaring at them with icy venom, fangs and claws bared. Blanca lowered her head only an inch, her only way of showing they meant no harm. Hau pulled his lips back into a louder snarl, tail lashing in aggravation.
Hoku glanced down to her companion, frowning for a moment before she raised her head and looked back at Smoker.
Tears continued to trickle from the corners of her eyes. They slid down the curve of her cheeks, dripping down her chin. Hoku watched him in silence, expression unreadable.
The admiral hesitated for only a second. Blanca let out the softest, softest whine.
For a moment, Hau’s body untensed, staring. The foggy look started to clear. Hoku’s brows creased and Smoker reached out with his gloved hand one more time.
The doors to the bar slammed open.
The light winked out from Hoku’s eyes. Hau stood onto his paws, head lowered, eyes narrowed into dangerous slits.
His men flooded the dimly lit room, raising their guns and shouting out orders as Smoker cursed in his head and Blanca’s ferocious barks of protest flooded the room over his, ordering the marine daemons to stand down.
Smoker lurched, eyes snapping in surprise to where Hau suddenly had Blanca pinned to the wooden floorboards of the bar. His daemon was silent, rigidly looking up at Hau with her teeth barely bared, body still while Hau’s jaws were wrapped around her neck. Smoker felt his teeth on his own, Hoku’s dead eyes looking at all of them.
“Go ahead,” Hoku said coldly. She turned to the marines by the door, half-smiling. “Just don’t forget, Hau’s got one more life over her.”
Blanca kept silent, staring imploringly at Hau. The panther ignored her gaze, keeping his jaws buried in the scruff of her throat, waiting. Smoker stared hard at Hoku and she kept her gaze on his men, expression devoid of emotion.
-- - ----- ----
“Estrella,” Law drawled, ice dripping with the roll of his tongue.
His daemon pounced.
They poor no-body marine dog never stood a chance.
--- --- ---- ---- ---
“No,” Law said. “This is rehab.”
He kicked Hoku’s lower back, sending her flying down the stairs with an ungoldy screech and down into the boiler room. Penguin and Sachi peeked their heads around the corner, staring down into the darkest depths of their sub while Law shoved a hand into his pocket.
“Is she still alive?” Penguin asked.
“She’s got a couple, right?” Law asked Hau. “Which one was that?”
Hau flicked his tail tip, the only sign of his annoyance. Estrella watched him with peering eyes, following the sway of Hau’s haunches as he slunk down the steps into the boiler room after Hoku.
“Fuck you, Law!” came the ghostly holler. “I’m going to blow up your submarine! You forgot I’m suicidal, asshole!”
Law looked satisfied, turning his back on them and closing the boiler room door. To Sachi and Penguin he added, “Make sure she doesn’t come out until she’s done.”
---- --- --- --- ---
Law froze, his entire body stiff as ice.
He took a moment, reassessing the sensation he felt unfolding in his chest. He considered it carefully, made sure this… this feeling was not a mistake, that he had not wrongly interpreted the shared sensation between himself and his daemon. He picked it apart in seconds, slowly, rigidly turning his head to the corner of the deck.
It was dark, only a single headbeam lit from the corner pathway of the submarine. The deck on top of the rounded hull was bathed in darkness, but even in the thin light, he knew down to his bones he was not seeing wrongly.
Law gave the woman beside him one discreet, searching glance.
Hoku looked completely and utterly unaffected. He watched her a second longer to make sure it wasn’t an act, but her careless, bored demeanor showed truthfully she had no inclination whatsoever to sharing his barely, barely startled turmoil. Hoku looked completely at ease, still squinting in the distance to see if she could make out the constellation they’d just discussed, mouth moving around the dried fruit she’d just popped into her mouth.
Law carefully, with great composure, withheld the light, creeping shiver that traveled down his spine. He narrowed his eyes, looking back, but Estrella coyly kept her mind blank, hiding all of her thoughts from him the way they’d taught each other to.
There, against the side of the entry doorway, the two of them laid.
Hoku’s daemon had stretched out, directly in the middle of the deck to keep the perfect distance away from either side of the railings. His long, furred body turned a pale, ghostly shade of white under the moonlight, large paws hiding pearl white claws. Hau’s side rose and fell in lazy slumber, his tail stretched out behind him like a white whip, ears twitching only occasionally.
But the issue was who was beside him.
Estrella had silently made her way from Law’s side across the deck to his. Her lithe, powerful feline body almost nearly matched his in size. Law watched her with rapt, rigid focus, brows furrowed in dark disbelief as his daemon purposefully ignored his silent prodding.
She stopped inches from Hau’s form, sitting on her haunches, tail curled neatly over her paws. Hau’s ear flicked once in her direction to signal he’d noticed, but kept his eyes closed. Estrella stared down at him, icy gray gaze that had stared back as she ripped throats out of marines and pirates and their enemies alike, becoming almost clear.
Estrella rearranged herself, laying down on her stomach barely a centimeter—a heavy, tense centimeter Law could feel—from him. She folded her paws neatly over each other, staring out seemingly in boredom. Her striped black tail flicked from side to side, occasionally brushing against Hau’s limp one. A ghost of a touch.
Touch.
His daemon. Estrella.
Hau didn’t move, tail limp, body relaxed. Estrella turned her head to look down at the other daemon, expression carefully blank. Her tail curled and then the tip of it brushed against Hau’s flank. His fur seemed to shift, bright, scarred pink nose twitching but he remained relaxed. Estrella seemed pleased by this and her tail promptly laid out beside his own, curling idly over his.
Touching.
Law looked back at Hoku and she reached for another dried fruit, popping it into her mouth. She shuffled through her bag, debating whether or not to shove a handful more. Oblivious.
Is your connection to your daemon that terrible? Law almost bit out. Almost. It would have come out calm and cold and collected. Are you that dull? Is it that messed up? Are you an idiot—
He went rigid, gripping Kikoku with white knuckles.
Law exhaled, slowly. He carefully turned over his shoulder, inch by inch, glaring daggers behind him.
Estrella didn’t even blink at him, eyes trained sideways and away. She looked silver against Hau’s snow white. Her long, raspy pink tongue slid out languidly from her mouth in soothing, relaxed motions. It showed off the dangerous curve of bone-crushing fangs. But Estrella’s tongue was now running over the top of Hau’s face, over his ears, around his neck as she turned her face and—
“Are you grooming him?” Law spat out in disbelief at her.
The snow leopard lazily flicked her tail behind her in response. Hau yawned, stretching his paws out, unbothered, and resumed his slumber as Estrella continued her grooming, content.
Law ripped apart the shudder that almost raced down his spine. He shoved the sensations traveling from Estrella and Hau’s shared connection, the low buzz of energy, of electricity that came when two daemons touched each. A feeling he’d only ever felt when Corazon’s Rosa would curl her soft, furry body up around Estrella—
He grit his teeth, squaring his shoulders and forcibly maintaining his composure as he promptly knocked Kikoku against the metal railing once.
Hoku looked up, brows creasing. A fruit stuck out from between her lips. She gave him a look, as though he’d done something wrong for disturbing her.
Your daemon is touching my daemon.
“Somethin’ wrong?” Hoku asked.
Do you not feel what I feel?
Law gave her a flat look. Hoku continued to chew.
Go get your daemon—
“Hoku,” she and Law both looked down. Hau’s voice was smooth and not too low, like a melted rumble. He came up to her leg, pressing his big head against her hip and curling his tail over her leg. The white panther daemon blinked blue eyes up at them. Law could see gold.
Hau seemed to examine Law for a moment before his long whiskers twitched. The white panther blinked once. Law stared back at him, curious about the eye contact someone else’s daemon was making with him.
Without even pausing, Hoku’s hand ran over his face, pushing past his soft ears and turning against his cheek to scratch under his chin. Hau lifted his head for better access, a loud rumble filling the air.
Several feet away, Estrella slowly made her way toward them, nonchalant and shifting mass of silver and black fur. She didn’t even acknowledge the icy daggers her other half was fixing her with, haunches swaying as she came up and sat down loyally by Law’s feet. Estrella looked up at Hoku, whiskers twitching.
“What game are you playing?” Law thought at her.
“Nothing,” Estrella thought back at him, innocent. “Nothing at all.”
