in which del is an alive girl (!!!!!!!) on the verge of chrysalis

it's been 2 weeks since the coterie destroyed petaniqua; since del sawed off her arm in a futile attempt to protect her/ael's true name; since foebok took it anyway. good news: arm has fully regrown. bad news:

session begins with del waking from daysleep sobbing uncontrollably. she doesn't know what's wrong. tara wakes up too and tries to wipe away the tears, and they both realize these aren't tears of vitae; they're real, salty, mortal tears. they're ael's.

del tries to stand and her knees buckle beneath her. it's like those dreams where your legs won't move like they need to, like moving through quicksand. her Heightened Senses kick involuntarily into overdrive and she can hear/see/feel everything: foebok is making its move on ael, on the city, and has nearly broken free from the dream into the material world. the city itself and everyone within it is suffering, and del is the conduit for all of it; every fear of the mortals and kindred alike, the nervosa and chimera running rampant, the discord and violence in the streets, the people turning on their friends/neighbors/loved ones. she feels it all.

tara drives her to the coterie's shared haven as del feels the thorns of ael's prison pierce her heart. they're running out of time. foebok's moving now, and if del's still dead when he gets to ael, it's all over.

coterie's putting out fires left and right as the city dissolves into fear-driven chaos and there's no choice but to split up; del and mitra to the mage who can temporarily bring del back to life, sami and bene to deal with a hijacked oil tanker on a crash course to anarch territory. every mortal between the coterie and their respective destinations has been possessed by foebok and is trying to kill them.

more barbs pierce del/ael's stomach. del sees a vision of ael's terrified, tear-streaked face and a hand reaching out to her as foebok tears at the thorns binding her. del begs ael to hold out just a little longer. they're so close. they're so close.

they make it to the mage at last around midnight. with mitra and tara at del's side, the ritual begins.

the noise and pain and terror and suffering barrel rapidly toward crescendo, pressure building until del feels like she's going to be torn to pieces from the force of it all, and the sensations only intensify as every cell in her body is urged, pushed, forced to remember that they once knew how to live, tearing forth a guttural roar from somewhere deep within her--

and then in an instant the world is silent and del is alone, a void of all-encompassing darkness blanketing her senses. no sensation reaches her but the one pounding hotly within her chest for the first time in nearly a decade.

she takes her first breath.

A few days ago our Storyteller prepared a special one-shot VtM session for us: we got nearly blank character sheets with only a name and a few stats, and our amnesiac characters had to escape the Hunters' prison they woke up in while slowly trying to regain their memories and defeat a demon and the Infernalist who summoned it.

In the end, they remembered who they were: Godot aka Alstroemeria, First Childe of the Seraphim Lily and First Finger of the Black Hand; and his sister Miri aka Bloom, Fifth Childe of Lily and Fifth Finger of the Black Hand. They chose to temporarily abandon their memories in order to go undercover on a very dangerous mission, in which they of course succeeded.
