I've been dancing at my funeral Waiting for you to arrive I was hoping you'd look beautiful Dancing with tears in your eyes But nobody came, what a shame, shame, shame

He'd have made fun of you for this music. It was way too "hair metal"... but with you? He'd have loved this song.
The day it came out you watched the video and simply cried and cried. Eddie had been gone for the better half of three years but you still thought about him daily, even now, after all this time.
There were moments you could swear you still felt his kiss, heard his voice and you definitely remembered his touch. Eddie had been your first in everything and when you listen to these lyrics now? It all comes flooding back.
The simple, "it's just a hit. Take a toke."
To the more complex, "does it hurt? I'm sorry, I'll be gentler."
To the one that still made you cry that much harder, "you know i love you right? You're mine."
You thought you would have stared a lifetime into those brown's, would have him meet you down the aisle like he promised, but no. Now he was a ghost. The ghost of what you thought would have been forever.
"I miss you, Eddie Munson... and I'm lonely. So lonely without you."
And for a moment, you thought the wind had whispered back to you.

why do i for the ask game [:
Interesting pick! While I do like this song, I don't really have any strong opinions on it.
I do have a story about this song though! Back when elsewhere was about to release, they changed the website to promote it, and they used an 8 bit version of this song as the background music. I instantly fell in love, weirdly loving it so much more than the 8 bit versions of their other singles. So much so, I actually downloaded it and listened to it on repeat every time I caught the bus back from uni. I was obsessed and so hyped for the song, but when the album came out and I heard the real thing for the first time, I was actually disappointed. I definitely overhyped it in my head, but don't worry, I soon overcame this bias and grew to like the song as it is.
The best part of this song is easily the second verse, from the line "a piece of shit" to the start of the second chorus. There's just something really satisfying about the harmonies and the way it all flows together. I also like the way the final chorus is stripped back, and the vocal improvs Cody does at the end. Other than that, nothing else really stands out to me.
I get the feeling that this song is overhated in the fandom, because of the sheer amount of attention it got from the boys themselves. I get it, and I definitely think they should've put more focus on some more obscure elsewhere songs (as good as it gets, taste of the good life and the magic 8 were right there) but I also understand the band's perspective.
Every time they did an interview, they were constantly singing its praises; Cody kept saying how proud of it he was, and how the chorus was the best thing he'd ever written. In a fan club qna where I asked them their favourite songs from the album, both Cody and Maxx said why do I (apart from Zach who said projector.) So while I understand it got a bit old seeing it all the time, I understand the boys wanting to give it so much attention. I mean if you'd written a song you were that proud of, wouldn't you want to show it off as much as they did? Wouldn't you choose that song to be the one to feature miku? (I still love the album cover art for that btw.)
Anyway. I loved the music video, the aesthetics were perfect, and getting a look at ego, karma and lady luck was thrilling. I remember spending so long on a piece of art for that video, and being so happy when they noticed it on twitter. Fun fact, I also used Zach's fight scene as an assignment for one of my uni modules. In any case, it's a fun song, and while I think it's a bit overhated, it's also not the best off the album. 6/10.

i love the…. almost horror aspects of this album. all the references to ghosts and death…. and sonically, the unexpected shrieking in WAOLOM and the banging and screaming during “old habits die screaming” and even the way the tension subtly builds across the sixteen tracks and by the end you’re so stressed and shaken it’s like! losing your sense of self and feeling like you’ve become a monster is horror. and i’m sooooo glad she leaned into it
