a/n: ugh! i just love my seijoh boys so much! and so, i decided to make one more headcanons for them, tysm! hopefully i’ll do inarizaki next or maybe karasuno.

it was first day and you were already late, but you managed to enter the gym half way practice.

but seeing all the team laying on you he actually let himself rely on another person for the first time

he also thinks that you are not bad physically talking and he actually says it but privately

he also whenever he is mad or just frustrated comes to you and what he likes is that you don’t go in deep of the details but instead you try to distract him with random thing you say.

and also they looked up to you a lot, why? because you are the only people who always deals with the third years shit

god i think your connection with the third years was only a bit more noticeable than the second years

why? you were not afraid to mess up with them

to be real iwaizumi as oikawa caught your eye since moment one, they were naturally attractive and talented but you made a promise to not fall for anyone

omg you were so wrong

if it was iwaizumi, he always made sure you felt comfortable around

you were no vb genius so he took the time to explain you a bunch of things you did not know 🥺

also, he’s the kind of guy to stop everyone spiking because you were crossing through the gym so no ball gets you

he is the one who always search for you in school, asked about your day, and stuff that might seem basic but it was really meaningful

oikawa on the other hand was the one who actually made you feel like part of them

he is kinda more of the lowkey one, he is mainly the one who checks up on you

he once spotted a bruise in your arm and he immediately freaked out

“DO I HAVE TO FIGHT SOMEONE” “god no! i just dropped a huge book there!”

hanamaki is the one who waits for you in the entrance of the gym to walk with you to practice

he also is the first one to notice if something is wrong with you along with iwachan

they both unintentionally pay attention to you a lot and if you do something out of the common they just approach you

and they are always right

“what’s wrong y/n?” hanamaki says

“yeah, is everything okay you need anything?” iwaizumi continues.

“what do you mean guys? i’m okay” you obviously try to lie.

“no you are not, you are acting different”

“yea iwachan is right you always change yous t shirt before practice and the way you are ordering the volleyballs is off”

“why do know me so well” you indeed had a terrible day, so you almost tear up bb of that and be of how amazing your boys were to you sometimes”

in the court you looked out for them, outside of it they were the ones who did that

if you were teased or someone even had the audacity to make fun of you it could go three ways

matsukawa, hanamaki and kunimi just taking you out of there and rather say positive thinks about you

Okay I am literally so late because I was doing my chem reading and my writing hw BUT I can’t refuse a chance to scream about my favorite characters (but y’all can refuse to listen to my scream about them so here’s a cut)

First of all, I want you to know that I haven’t even started listing characters yet and this ask has already lead me to spend almost $4 on Agent P’s Guide to Fighting Evil and that’s why I don’t look at the PnF wiki when I’m tired thank you for coming to my TED talk

I almost feel like I’m cheating by starting with Dr. Diminuitve but HOW CAN I NOT LIKE TELL ME THAT LIL MAN IS NOT THE BEST CHARACTER THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN OKAY FUCKIN DO IT JUST KIDDING YOU CAN’T I mean come on, one of his first lines was literally “I don’t have a Napoleon complex; Napoleon had a ME complex!” I had to check the wiki to see if that was his first line ever and I’m very disappointed that it wasn’t and then in OWCA’s Going Down when all the evil scientists were just vibin against the fence and they started doing that West Side Story snappy walk and Diminutive was so into the snaps that he just didn’t fucking move and then he opened his eyes and the rest of the gang was halfway off the screen fjdskhfkalsfhaskl I just really love him okay the more I think about it the more convinced I am that he’s actually my favorite character

Idk if this counts as an obscure side character but he is incredibly underrated so I gotta throw in: LAWRENCE FUCKING FLETCHER. He’s just such a pure and innocent lil dude. He sees the boys doing dangerous shit and he’s just like, “Well that’s happening,” or better yet, “Hey, that looks fun!” I mean, the airplace? The flying carpet? The monster trucks? He genuinely gives zero fucks and I love him for it. I wholeheartedly believe that Lawrence knows Perry is a secret agent -- or at least that he’s smarter than he acts -- but he’s literally so indifferent to everything going on around him that he never mentions it because life is full of fun and exciting things like that and he can’t talk about them all, you know? And he gets so excited about his antiques and he’s so passionate about history and ughhhh I love him 

I was about to say I feel like I’m cheating by using a special but it just occurred to me that that’s lowkey how I’ve prefaced all of these so no, fuck that, I’m using a special and that’s just how it’s gonna be. CARL FROM THE LAND OF INTERNUS WOULD HAVE MADE A MUCH BETTER ENDING THAN THE ACTUAL BOOK HAD AND FUCK YOU MONOGRAM FOR CUTTING CARL OFF BEFORE HE COULD TELL IT HOW HE WANTED TO

These two kinda go hand-in-hand but Bunka Da Bunkaquan and Sweary the Swan are my favorite alternative Perrys. As far as the specials go, Steampunx isn’t one of my favorites, but Sweary the Swan is just... How do you even describe Sweary the Swan? He is life. He is the reason I wake up in the morning. He is the only thing worth living for. And then Bunka Da Bunkaquan is just so fuckin cute and anyone who disagrees needs their eyes checked. And tbh while we’re talking about Tri-Stone area, I gotta throw in a mention of Doofengung no of course I didn’t have to google what his name was what are you talking about because I love how he just stares at the water and every time it drips he just fuckin cackles lmaooo

Okay one more special (maybe) but Doofenshmirtz in The Temple of Juatchadoon brooo I just googled it to make sure I spelled that right and I did woah my power is unmatched is lowkey my favorite Doofenshmirtz. I don’t know if it’s because I actually like him more than every other Doof or if it’s just because his first scene was with Phineas Ohio Flynn and they knew each other and they had actual interactions throughout the episode and the Doof/Phineas relationship is my favorite underexplored relationship, but Juatchadoon Doof makes the list anyway

I’m almost afraid to say this in public, but I actually really like Roger. I was mostly indifferent to him at first, but then Delivery for Destiny happened and I was like wait a minute, why am I sleeping on his man who literally orders boxes just to give to his cat? And once I realized that he was kinda cool, it started sinking in that he was never actually a bad guy. Heinz never even really claimed he was -- if anything, his problem is that Roger isn’t a bad guy, and everyone in Gimmelshtump and Danville knows it. And I gotta give Roger credit for not being too harsh on his brother, because yeah, he can be a little stuck up (I’m looking at you, stupid golf game), but you can’t really blame him for thinking he’s better than Heinz, you know? But at least he’s not a dick about it like their parents are. Also the entire latter half of this paragraph was me trying to find a way to work in the other part of that scene with the cat box and it didn’t work so I’m just gonna tack it on to the end because this isn’t an essay for English class and I can do that lmao. Paul mentions that he just delivered something to a Heinz Doofenshmirtz, and Roger is like 😬 because let’s be real, no one wants to be represented by the type of dude to try to juice City Hall, but he’s obviously not going to say that because he’s still a respectful dude, so he’s just like “Charming... man... isn’t he...” and he’s literally so uncomfortable and it cracks me up every time but also it’s lowkey kinda wholesome because Heinz may make it his life mission to embarrass his brother but Roger doesn’t reciprocate. but I accidentally discovered a few weeks ago that John O’Hurley is a raging Trump supporter so I gotta dock points for that one

i enter my first class of the year, psychology 3. i take a seat, not really paying attention to who i sat next to. i take my laptop out of my backpack, place it on the table, flip it open and get ready to take notes. it was a new school year and i was not about to slack anymore. sophomore year was a complete shit show and i could not afford that this year, literally. i was skipping class like it was an olympic sport but guess what? tuition still had to be paid. i open up google docs and title the new document ‘19/8/19 notes, assignments & hw ’. the professor begins to speak and my full attention is now on her.

an hour passes and the class was wrapping up. “ok class the homework is for you all to make a powerpoint presentation on the person sitting next to you. you must analyze them as a person, describe their character traits and so on and so forth. think of it as an ice breaker activity and a way to make a new friend. more instructions will be posted online. i count 24 of you so i expect 24 emails on friday 23/8/19. presentations will be the following monday, if there are any questions feel free to email me. class dismissed.” i close my laptop and reach for my bag when i hear a deep familiar voice next to me say “hey! how’s it going?” i look to my right and see jackson, jackson wang. god not again. this man was handsome to say the very very least and a heart throb. i should know because i had him in psych 2 last year. we would almost always end up having to do a project together and almost always turn it in 2 minutes before it was due. it’s not like we were the best of friends and every time we met up we didn’t do work, it was just that we never really did meet up. every time he would text and ask i would be too scared to be in the same place as him because of how intimidated he made me feel. when we did meet up it was the night before so i absolutely had to go, for the sake of his grade. we wouldn’t talk much but when we did he was, for the most part, really nice. “hi.. jackson. it’s going.. good” i say quietly. “oh, that’s good. well if you’re free right now we could go get coffee to jumpstart this little project” god he had the cutest smile on his face. “oh yeah sure just let me get packed up” i said trying to avoid his gaze like the black plague.

after to fumbling with my belongings under the immense pressure his eyes were putting me under, we were finally able to leave. on the walk to the cafe, jackson sparks up conversation. “so, y/n, last year we never really talked much and i was a little let down because you actually seemed really cool. so i’m glad i get to do this project with you. i wanna get to know you” he looks over to me and grins widely. i return a small smile back. “where are you from?” he asked sounding genuinely curious. “the states” i mentally curse at myself for giving such a short, dry answer but he hums anyway. “i’m from china but i came here for a change, you know” “yup” i curse at myself again. a small silence passes, extra emphasis on small. “since you’re from the states do you-“ “speak english? yes” we both chuckle and god he was adorable. “oh cool so we could have our own semi-secret language” i give him a ‘you’re ridiculous’ look and we chuckle again. “so did you teach yourself english or did you go to an international school?” finally! i’m making semi-decent conversation. “international but i did do some studying on my own. so what about you? how did you learn hangul?” “ i loved watching and still do love watching dramas so one day i just got really annoyed with having to read the subtitles and just started teaching myself. i never really expected myself to get proficient at it, it just happened. then i thought i should put some use to it more than just dramas so i came here” wow the way i just rambled on just then. “ so how do you like it here?” he continues with the questions. “at first it was kind of hard to get used to because i went from using english every day and using hangul sometimes to using hangul every day and english sometimes” jackson nods in understanding. “ and then there are slang words that you need to learn and sayings and really understand the culture” he adds on. “ yes! exactly” regret of being so intimidated of him last year now fills me. he’s so easy to talk to. ugh am i stupid?

we reach the cafe and he opens the door for me “let me get that for you” “kam-sa-hap-nee-da!” i said in the most american accent i could do and he lets out an actual laugh that ascends me to the heavens. we both join the medium sized line. “you can just tell me what you want so you can go have a seat and i’ll bring it to you” this man is an angel. “iced americano, venti sized please and thank you” i say with a close-mouthed smile. “coming right up” he reciprocates the same smile. i make my way to a small booth in the corner by the window. i take out a small notepad and jot down things i’ve noticed about jackson. eventually, i get lost in thinking about how sweet he is and how easy he is to talk to and how his laugh is opposite of his deep voice and how his smile makes him look like a baby and then how he turns all hot again and oh my god i have a crush on jackson. like a cue, jackson comes and sets his and my coffee down and takes a seat across from me “thank you so much” “no problem” we both take a sip in unison. “analyzing me already?” he asks grabbing my notepad. all i had written was ‘really good energy’. really y/n? what the hell is that supposed to mean? he makes a ‘not bad’ face and sets my notepad back in front of me. i keep sipping and look out the window. “ok, ok” i could see him trying to hold in a snicker in the corner of my eye. i whip my neck to look and him and ask swiftly “what? why ‘ok ok’? what?”. “hm? nothing” he replies, still trying to hold in that laugh. “wah~ making fun of me already. at least i have something written down” he raises his eyebrows at me. “i have plenty of stuff written down in my head” “oh really?” i say in disbelief. “yes!” “ok. then prove it” i sit back and cross my arms. “just in the last 10 minutes, the things i’ve noticed ok. ready?” i just nod. “shy; when you laughed or smiled you didn’t show teeth. closed off; you chose the booth furthest away from other people. passive; you did nothing when i snatched your notepad. trusting; you trusted me with your drink and that i didn’t do anything to it. physical traits; well put together, pretty-“ i felt my face heat up and i had to stop him. “alright, alright you proved your point.” i waved him off and he laughs. “you asked for it” he says, laughter still in his voice. “i asked for you to prove yourself not show off” i say fake sulkily and extra pouty. he laughs even louder and makes a few heads turn. “ok jackson! people are looking.” i whisper shout and smile at him fully this time. “oh! you’re smiling” he points “you’re not shy around me anymore!” “ok you have to teach me how to read people like that” i rest my hand on my chin and my elbow on the table. “well, for starters, we could go back to the ‘getting to know you’ questions. so, when’s your birthday?”

after hours of talking, we had to leave simply because the cafe was closing. jackson looks at his watch and widens his eyes. “it’s 22:58 (10:58 pm). oh my god. do you have class tomorrow? i’m so sorry for keeping you out so late, i’ll walk you home. where do you live? oh my god i’m really so sorry” he apologized profusely. “no” i say flatly. “n-no?” he furrowed his eyebrows. “i don’t have class tomorrow it’s fine” i let out breathy laugh. “do you?” i raise my brows at him. “no” he sighs out in relief. “alright come on. let me walk you home” i barely take two steps when i stop and drop my head into my hands. “my.. RA. it’s past curfew. i’m dead” i say defeated. “oh my friend i can stay with- she has class tomorrow and she’s probably sleeping” i say gaining hope and losing it instantly. “i guess i’ll just take the warning, it’s only one” i start dragging my feet i the direction of my dorm. “you could.. stay the night with me. my RA isn’t as strict with the rules”. was that nervousness i heard in his voice? jackson? the same jackson that told me stories of him being bold and fearless? jackson? wang? never. “i don’t want to be a burden-“ i wave him off. “ you won’t be” he insists. i look into his eyes and really sink deep into those two chocolate pools. all that is visible is purity and good intentions; i trust him. “ok” i smile. “thank you” “no problem”

we get to his dorm and as he is unlocking the door he informs me that his 3 other roommates won’t be there until late that night so we’re safe from the teasing. he opens the door and lets me in first. it’s dark until jackson comes in and turns on the kitchen light. he sits around the island and i join him. i take this time to look around. right across from the kitchen was the living room that was in good shape for 3 boys, diagonal of the living room was the laundry room that was neat too, there was a walkway from the front door in between the laundry room and the kitchen leading to the living room, and one long hallway/walkway passing in between the living room and the kitchen continuing both ways to god knows where. there was also a sliding door in the living room leading to the balcony. “you must be hungry. do you want me to cook or is takeout ok?” come to think of it i haven’t eaten since lunch.  i was so absorbed in jackson that i didn’t even realize how hungry i am. “yeah, takeout is fine” “is pizza ok?” he says pulling out his phone. “oh pizza is more than ok” i say, starting to get excited “ok miss pizza what would you like on it?” “pepperoni please~” “alright.. and the pizza is on it’s way” he hops off the chair with ‘hmph’. he walks over to me and holds his hand out to help me down. “thank you” i take his hand and get off the chair. “come on i’ll give you everything you need”. he leads me to his room at the end of the short hallway without letting go of my hand. he turns on fairy lights that aren’t too bright but are enough to make everything visible. he turns to the left to his walk-in closet to retrieve me a hoodie and some sweatpants. he tells me that when i go in the bathroom there should be an extra toothbrush behind the mirror. i say thank you for the 100th time today and go to sit on his bed to wait for him. “i can put something on if you want” he come and sits next to me on the bed. “mm..” i think about all the shows that i need to catch up on and finally choose one. “can you put on ‘he is psychometric’?” “ohh yes! what episode are you on?” he gets excited. “the last one and it’s so good, i just never have time to watch” “me either” he puts it on the tv and the pizza arrives. “that was quick” i say shocked because my pizza takes at least an hour to come. “yeah the place is right down the block; convenient” he comes back to the room with pizza and shuts the door.

we finish ‘he is psychometric’ and both of the pizzas. “i’m gonna go change” i take jackson’s clothes to the bathroom. i change into the comfy clothes that smells like him and brush my teeth. i pull my hair into a bun that i ruled ok for jackson to see and leave the bathroom. “oh you look good in my clothes but don’t go stealing it now” he says like he’s my father and gives me a stern look. i giggle and say “ok” sarcastically. he goes in the bathroom to change as well. i pull my notepad and pencil out my bag and sit in front of what seems to be his work desk. i write more analyzations and now have to flip the page thanks to jackson teaching me how to properly read people. i’m on a roll until jackson presses his hands on my shoulders and yells “boo!” “oh my god!” i jump and turn around in the swivel chair. “i’m sorry i had to” he laughs at me hysterically. “yah~ don’t do that! stop laughing!” i smack him on the shoulder repeatedly. “ok ok, yah!” he grabs hold of my wrists and is now inches away from my face; staring into my eyes. “i-i’m tired. where can i sleep?” i had to break the growing silence. jackson lets go and backs away “you can sleep on my bed, i’ll set up on the couch” he said walking towards the door. “no” i command, stopping him in his tracks. “ when the guys get home they’re going to ask why you’re on the couch and from the stories you’ve told me, you’re not a good liar” he turns back around but still doesn’t move. “you’re right” he says grinning. “well get on the bed so that when i turn off the lights you won’t trip and break your neck” “alright, no need to reference that traumatic story ok, that was a very scary experience” i say getting on the bed. “i’m just saying if you had a night light-“ “ok! jackson! good night!”

i was on the edge of sleep when i felt a heavy arm fall around my waist and a warm body touching all of my back side. steady breathing was blowing on the baby hairs on the back of my neck. he was sleeping. i suddenly started to feel uncomfortable in the position i was in and couldn’t take it anymore. while adjusting and re-adjusting my lower half, i inevitably brush up against jackson’s area. he didn’t respond so i assumed he just didn’t feel it so i continued on the quest to getting comfortable, all the while rubbing against him with my ass. suddenly jackson grips my hip. “you better stop playing with me” he growls lowly into my ear, ultimately ruining my new underwear i got from victoria secret on sale but i couldn’t possibly be mad at him. the ache in my core was way too strong to ignore so i reply as seductively as i could “who said i was playing?” while pushing up against him. he groans and i feel him grow beneath me. he attaches his lips to my neck and sucks and nips and licks away. he finds my spot at the base of my neck and i let out a low moan. when he feels as of though he’s left a satisfactory mark, he licks and kisses the spot. he turns me to face him and wastes no time in connecting his lips to mine. passion begins to fill the room as he climbs on top of me. the hands that are on my waist start travelling under his hoodie i had on. his warm hands on my bare skin was setting me on fire. one of his legs that was positioned between my legs started to rub against my core. i moan loudly into his mouth and he doesn’t miss his chance to stick his tongue in my mouth. i break the kiss to catch my breath and jackson moves back to my neck to leave more marks. i was lost in my own pleasure when i come to my senses. “jackson” i breathe out. he removes his lips from my neck for a brief moment “yes baby”. “what about the guys?” “fuck the guys” he tugs at the bottom of his hoodie and he looks up at me asking for permission. i nod and he removes the hoodie swiftly as he begins kissing his way down my body.

i wake up the next morning with the comforter covering more than half of my face so the sunlight seeping through the window didn’t bother me too much. i was initially startled about where i was but i soon remembered. then i remember the events of the night before. i turn around to see the beautiful man that shared the events of the night before with me. the light highlighting his features perfectly. from his fluffy, messy hair to his soft, plump lips. i move to brush away the hair that was in his face and move down to caress his cheek. how did this even happen? and how did it happen so quickly? i guess it’s the jackson effect. he flutters his eyes open and when he sees me, he immediately gives the softest smile. he pulls me closer in his arms and whispers “good morning princess”. i hum and say good morning back. “how’d you sleep?” he kisses my forehead. “really good” i take a deep breath, inhaling his intoxicating natural scent. we stay like that for a while until we realize that we have to leave before the guys wake up and tease us. or the extreme awkwardness considering the fact that we may or may not have gotten a noise complaint. jackson gives me fresh clothes to leave in and i freshen up, doing most but not all of my morning routine due to the shortage of time. i grab my bag and exit the room with him. we’re walking down the hallway when i forget my notepad on his work desk and go back for it. on the way back to him i hear voices coming from the living room, i stay out of sight to eavesdrop. “jackson i swear to god you should do my- no our homework for the next week” one voice says, putting emphasis on ‘our’. “i shut my door, turn my music on my speaker up all the way, and even covered my ears with 2 pillows but could still fucking hear you two. jackson i swear to god if you don’t warn us next time” another voice says and lets out a deep sigh. “you guys i’m sorry i really didn’t plan-“ another voice cuts him off . “no you’re not sorry, you’re gonna be sorry when your ass is doing my physics homework for the next week” “i don’t even know how to do physics” “well you better figure it out” i couldn’t hear anymore of this, i had to save him. i walk out into the living room “um.. g-good morning” i wave awkwardly. damn! this is exactly what i wanted to avoid. they all look up at me with wide eyes “good morning” they say all out of sync. jackson stands next to me and holds my hand “this is my girlfriend, y/n” my heart drops, comes back up, does some somersaults, and skips numerous beats. “y/n this is jinyoung, jaebeom, and mark”. i give a small closed-mouth smile. “well, this was fun but y/n and i have places to be” he looks down at me and smiles “let’s go” jackson starts walking to the door and drags me along. i look back and wave goodbye and so do they, still looking baffled. jackson locks the door and we start walking down the hallway. ”i could tell you were uncomfortable so i had to get you out of there” he says with a hint of urgency in his voice and i laugh. “thank you but were we really that loud?” i ask putting emphasis on ‘that’. “i don’t know but what i do know is that i’m that good” i roll my eyes at him “yeah ok”. “so ‘girlfriend’ huh?” he looks down and scratches the back of his neck. “y-yea” his ears turn red. “you haven’t even taken me out on a date yet.” i scoff in fake disbelief. “i was hoping that i could go on a date today and then i could confess to you but i guess i got a little ahead of myself” “you think?” we chuckled. “confession? how long did you like me?” “ever since i had to do that first project with you in psych 2. whenever i’d ask to meet up and you said you couldn’t it always made me think you didn’t like me. and when we did you were kind of standoffish so i gave up. until you sat next to me yesterday” he smiles thinking about it. “i’m sorry that i made you think that i was just so intimidated by you and your good looks and what not.” “good looks?” he raises his eyebrow at me. “take the compliment or i’ll take it back” “oh no thank you thank you”

we leave his dorm building to the parking lot and his car. “i changed up our schedule for today a little bit.” he unlocks the doors and we get in. “what did you change?” he starts the car so the hot air doesn’t literally suffocate us. “after we visit your dorm we have to go to the mall”. he takes my hand and intertwined our fingers. “the mall? why?” i look over at him and furrow my eyebrows. he looks at me and smirks “to get you back that cute little underwear i tore off you last night” brings my hand to his lips and kisses it.

“It’s all about the Eraser vs the SOG, dudes” UFC 241 Preview

So this card is great! Seriously I lack a greater word to describe this card besides great. In many ways, this card is an old school style UFC card. You have a tremendous title fight (arguably the GOAT if not a top 5 fighter of all time) and the best UFC HW ever in terms of resume with a co-main event that isn't a title fight but pits two superstars against one another in a strikers delight. Paulo Costa vs Yoel Romero is legit a main event anywhere else in the world sans PPV and Ian Heinisch vs Derek Brunson would be a solid co-main event on any ESPN card they could put on. Throw in a really great FW fight between kickboxer Benito Lopez and super well rounded Sodiq Yusuff. The prelims aren't quite as name heavy and are hurt by the loss of John Makdessi BUT it's hard to knock a slate that features two really good bantamweight fights in Cory Sandhagen vs Raphael Assuncao and Manny Bermudez vs Casey Kenney. Even the return of prospect Devonte Smith is worth keeping an eye on despite the opponent change. The ESPN+ portion of the prelims are okay I suppose as Sabino Mazo vs Shana Dobson and Brandon Davis vs Kyung Ho Kang figures to be a fun as hell action fight. After the poor on paper UFC 240, it's hard to not get a bit excited for what is a damn good return to PPV before the fun stuff with UFC 242 and 243 hit us in September and October.

Twelve Precarious Ponderings

1- So is Daniel Cormier going to mentally get up for this fight? Cormier knocked out Miocic in July of 2018 and basically cemented his legacy as one of the best fighters ever by winning titles in two weight classes Conor McGregor style. He also became the first champion to defend a belt while being double champion, doing so when he finished Derrick Lewis in the third round of their fight. Cormier was hoping to retire in March of 2019 after a fight with Brock Lesnar BUT the Lesnar fight fell apart and Brock retired before DC ever could. Having lost the Brock fight, DC put off his retirement to take a fight against Stipe Miocic and potentially Jon Jones. This was clearly Cormier's back up option as he admitted that him vs Miocic was more about him fulfilling his promise to Stipe that he'd give him a rematch. Cormier has talked about a Jones fight as well but seems like that would just be a big cash out for him. DC is in that "I've proven myself, now I'm going to get my money" phase of his life. I wonder if he's viewing this fight and a potential Jones fight as high level big check cash out fights and if it's fair to be concerned about DC showing up just to show up.

2- How quickly does the winner of Miocic vs DC get the turnaround fight? Ngannou vs DC/Miocic in November in MSG? December in Vegas? Gotta be options out there I'm assuming.

3- I literally have no idea what to expect from Anthony Pettis vs Nate Diaz. Let's set the scene/stage first; Anthony Pettis is really a case of combat sports fans just not giving a shit about reality because what you did five years ago still counts for something. So long as you win JUST enough, you can never truly dip out of the public view. Pettis lost three straight fights in 2015 and 2016, had a really ill fitted decision to drop to 145 lbs, barely scraped by another ill fitted 145 lbers then got smoked by Max Holloway. From there he'd beat the fighters he should (Michael Chiesa was particularly impressive) and lose to the dudes who replaced him at the top of the 155 lb ladder. Pettis campaigned for a fight at 170 lbs vs Stephen Thompson and got it in large part due to Santiago Ponzinibbio turning down the fight. He got boxed up by Thompson for two rounds, landed a sizable chunk of his own offense but then closed the show in emphatic fashion with a superman punch that put Wonderboy to sleep. One win made a lot of folks forget a lot of things en route to earning Pettis a co-main event spot on this very great card. His opponent is Nate Diaz, another fighter who made a lot of folks forget a lot of things on the back of one big win. Nate went from being the Diaz brother the UFC could deal with to a guy who has caused more noise for them than Nick ever did. Nate looked like he was going to disappear from the scene after the Bendo and Josh Thomson losses, beating the corpse of Gray Maynard before RDA just casually shut him down in a fight Nate was Nate missed weight, pulled out of his press obligations and just seemed not all there from a fighter standpoint. Everything changed with the McGregor fight where he upset Conor McGregor on short notice at 170 lbs. With some leverage, Nate put himself in position to earn a big payday and snagged it for a rematch. Since then he and the UFC have had a bit of a square dance in trying to get him fights vs Nate trying to maximize his leverage. A rumored fight with Tyron Woodley fell apart for December of 2017, Nate vs Dustin Poirier was on the books for November of 2018 and then the "official" ending to that was Dustin Poirier pulling out with a hip injury even if Dustin claims that Nate had pulled out weeks ahead of time and so he was the fall guy of sorts. All of this creates a situation where there's no way to know what is or isn't real here. Is Pettis better suited at 170 lbs where he, like Masvidal, feels more comfortable letting his hands go and fighting at a more unforgiving pace? Is Nate Diaz the dude who nearly toppled the UFC's apple cart vs Conor McGregor or the guy who went 1-3 and pretty much quit on the sport? To be honest does it even matter either? These two from a stylistic matchup create a compelling fight and even if we never see Nate again or Pettis eventually reverts back to being the dude Max Holloway made quit or Edson Barboza kickboxed up, we'll always have this one, right?

4- Really curious to see how Nate Diaz does in terms of his conditioning. Yes, he hasn't fought in three years BUT the counter to that is that Nate was training for fights during that time period that just never saw the light of day for various reasons. Also Nate has a style that's cardio friendly for the most part, taking steam off of his punches to throw combinations early on and then pouring it on late when his opponent is more tired than he is. As puts it, Nate Diaz just knows how to fight tired better than most guys.

5- You guys, we are absolutely about to get Yoel Romero vs Paolo Costa.

6- So we talk about Robert Whittaker being shop worn and it's true BUT conversely, what about Yoel Romero? Romero was in those five rounds wars with Whittaker, is old as hell, has years of high level wear and tear on his body and at some point he's simply going to fall off. Paulo Costa's body work is something that Yoel Romero has never had to tend to before. Most guys are terrified of getting in tight with Romero because unless you're an insane wrestler, chances are he's going to put the burners on you with an overhand right/flying knee or clinch you and get you on the mat if he's uncomfortable with the space and range. Costa though is an all pressure march ahead and throw caution to the wind striker who just overwhelms you with his intensity and his mental toughness. We've seen Yoel Romero just casually beat up on those grit and toughness dudes before and so this is a fine enough test for what remains of Romero and what Costa can bring differently compared to most guys.

7- If Costa wins, is there a chance that the UFC will do Paulo Costa vs the winner of Adesanya/Whittaker?  Or is the winner of Hermansson vs Cannonier a lock for the title shot?

8- Bruson vs Heinisch is going to be bowling shoe ugly, am I right dudes?

9- While Moggly/Sodiq Yusuff is a great fight and there's plenty of solid WMMA action, the biggest fight outside of the top 3 is Cory Sandhagen vs Raphael Assuncao. Assuncao is back in that spot he's found himself in before; needing to pull off an extensive winning streak to put himself in #1 contender contention again. He had another impressive streak snapped by Marlon Moraes in February and now we're left to figure out if Assuncao is in the Jon Fitch portion of his career where he's more a Top 5 tester/professional MMA hitman. His opponent is the sort of dude who Assuncao has historically found ways to check at the high level; the very young, very athletic yet somewhat flawed Cory  Sandhagen.  Sandhagen's UFC resume are two fights on short notice vs guys you'd expect him to blow out (Mario Bautista and Austin Arnett), a statement war over Iuri Alcantara and then the fight that solidified him as a top 10 guy when he took a split decision over John Lineker in a back and forth fight on the feet. Sandhagen has proven himself to be well worthy of his spot in the top 10 but Assuncao has only lost to two dudes at 135 lbs; TJ Dillashaw and Marlon Moraes. Long story short, this would be a massive insane win for Cory Sandhagen.

10- So the UFC thinks they might've found something in Devonte Smith and I'm not entirely sure if they're right or wrong either way. Including his DWCS performance, Smith has three wins in under a round under the watchful eye of the UFC. He ran through undefeated Joseph Lowry on the Contenders Series and then ended 2018 blasting out Julian Erosa in about thirty seconds. He opened up 2019 by KOing Dong Hyun Ma in Australia, again in short order and so we're left to try and figure out what Smith really has to offer. He has one pro loss (available on youtube) against Jon Gunther where he beat the fuck out of Gunther early, got worn down, tuckered out and then finished in the third round. He's only been out of the first round one other time recently-ish and that was a five round title fight where he looked perfectly fine going into the championship rounds. Thus far all we have is Smith running through folks in quite and easy order and you'd assume AT SOME POINT he's going to get tested. I'm just not sure that short notice Clay Collard is "the guy" to test him.

11- Christos Giagos made the UFC in 2014 and after a 1-2 run, he was sent away. He returned in 2018 on short notice vs Charles Oliveira in September and after losing (impressively I'd add), he's won two in a row. He's got the very solid Drakkar Klose up to face him and if he wins, we're looking at three in a row to solidify himself as an actual long term member of the roster.

12- If Brandon Davis and Kyung Ho Kang isn't the FOTN then something went wrong OR something went really right.

HELLO FRIEND guess who disappeared for over a week i’m the one who’s sorry :// i feel you soso much wow my mind is just like.....dead i was away for 3 days this week to sort stuff out with the other uni in person like i had to hand in a document to receive another and bus connections are disgusting so i had to stay 2 nights but!!! it went well the counsellor was rly sweet (good bc i felt like i’d offended her when we were exchanging emails rip) and now i’ve got all my documents on the way and i just need them to arrive on time aka monday which is the deadline for applications aND THEN I’M GOOD TO GO!!! i also have a rly nice place to stay temporarily with a family and their baby randomly loves me and the guy and i share the same favorite football club so life‘s quite alright (just the wifi uh....kinda sucks so.........idk what that means for this blog yet)

Mark was late to the pool again. That wasn't a surprise, seeing as he had forgotten his homework for maths again and was already below average for the class, but it still saddened you to see everyone but him in the pool. However when he dashed around the corner of the pool, launching himself from the changing room and diving into the pool at approximately ninety miles per hour, you couldn't help but laugh at how stupid your best friend was.

This is how your lunchtimes had been for two years, now. Mark had taken up swimming just as an extracurricular activity to fill his spare time and make some new friends - because whilst he had you, he had no friends that were like him. You were quiet, intelligent, a wallflower and Mark was loud, sporty and the life and soul of a party. The two of you had been inseparable since the day you were born; your mothers, who had also been best friends for such a long time, had gone into labour the same day as each other, and you were older than Mark by a few mere hours.

That title held a lot of value in your friendship when you were younger, but now it just meant that the two of you did everything together.

It was the reason why you had given up every lunchtime at school over two years for Mark. You loved to see him grow as a person; when he had first jumped into the pool, skinny and slim and pale, you had wondered how long he would actually keep this up. Now, broad and muscular and tan from spending hours at the beach practising, Mark was your successful best friend who had even swum in national competitions and was preparing for international heats now.

He had devoted half his life to swimming, and the other half was devoted to you.

Because whilst his original intention was to join the swim team to ‘get fit’ and ‘make friends with people my own size’, he had never forgotten you. You were the first person he called to tell the news of him making it to the national competitions, you were the only reason he had attended any parties - he refused to go without you, after all - and every time he hung out with his swimming mates, you were invited along.

So naturally you had grown close with Jeno, Jaemin and Chenle, three more boys from the swim team. You knew they had their own friendship circle, which was even bigger with Donghyuck, Jisung and Renjun as well, including a group chat that you were in but never spoke on, but they had never left you out. When you had been ditched to last years prom, the whole group - yes, all seven of them - had taken you as their date and insisted that you had had the best evening of your life. Of course you spent the majority of that evening beside Mark because he was the only one who you were truly comfortable around for a long period time.

And so you guessed you ought to be thankful of Mark and his swimming team. They had brought you a lot of comfort in times of stress and anxiety, like when you almost failed one of your finals last year because you were so sick you could barely stand. They had also offered you, some one with very little social interaction known to their name, a safety net of friendship. And for that, you were thankful.

But sitting here today, with Chenle - who had opted not to swim this lunch seeing as he had an interview after school and didn’t want to smell of chlorine - beside you quietly eating his lunch, you had to laugh at the situation. Mark tried so hard to be in so many places at once, but his one focus was always swimming. Even though he only had maybe twenty minutes left to swim, he would squeeze in this practise if he could. Jeno and Jaemin were chuckling hysterically in the pool as Mark power lapped around the pool, his muscles working overtime.

“Have you been asked to the mid-year dance yet, y/n?” Chenle asks, picking apart his food and fishing out the fruits in his salad and rice mix that he doesn’t eat, putting them into the lid and offering them to you. You smiled as you took the pepper between your fingers and set down your book.

“No. I doubt I’ll go, to be honest with you Chenle,” you say, tucking your loose strands of hair back behind your ear, before opting to tie your hair up again. Chenle’s face drops as he shakes his head.

“You have to come! It wouldn’t be the same without you!” He exclaims, picking out more of the fruit for you. “I asked Jisung to come as my date. He said no, so then I asked Lucas who said he’d come just for a laugh. Because face it, you are the only girl any of us talk to.”

“Lucas is coming?” You ask with a loud laugh, making Chenle giggle himself and the three boys in the pool look at the two of you. “Maybe that will make it worth attending.”

“Please come along!” Chenle says once he’s gathered his breath, wiping a tear from his eye. “We can even go outfit shopping together, it will be so much fun.”

“Chenle I don’t have a date, and I’m not redoing prom,” you say, smiling sweetly at him, “because whilst going with the seven of you was incredible, I still had to go through the tears of being ditched in the first place. Which was really, really hard.”

“Then go with one of us!” Chenle squeaks, making you roll your eyes at him. You knew he was only trying to help, and you did appreciate it, but you weren’t sure if he was aware of how much you hated big social interactions. Hanging out with the seven boys one weekend was enough to shatter you for a month, and that would always be in the comfort of Mark’s living room, where you had spent half your life in.

But in the school gym, you were exposed to the hundreds of eyes within your school, in a setting that you hated naturally anyway, and didn’t want to be. So, whilst you loved the idea of getting dressed up and going out for one evening, you didn’t think you could do it.

“I know you really hate it, y/n,” Chenle says softly, and rests a hand on your knee. “But it would mean a lot to Mark as well, knowing it’s his last mid-year dance. I really think you should consider it more.”

With that the conversation is brought to a close, because Mark, Jaemin and Jeno are climbing the stairs to where the two of you are sat, bearing bright smiles but also confused glances. Chenle explains the laughter from the pair of you, and the mention of the dance makes all three boys lighten up.

“I asked the girl I wanted to go with and she rejected me for someone off of the football team, so I think it’s a no from me,” Jaemin says glumly, resting his chin on his fist as he sits opposite you. “What about you, y/n? Have you got a date?”

“I don’t think I’m going to go,” you shrug, opening your textbook again and wishing your maths homework would eat you up. Chenle explains the rest of the conversation, making all of the boys exclaim.

“You have to come, y/n! It would be so awful without you!” Jeno exclaims, Mark nodding with him. “I’d ask you to come with me, but I kind of already asked the girl I wanted to go with.”

“Likewise,” Mark says, making everyone raise an eyebrow. “What? Why else did you think I was late to swim practise this afternoon?”

“Because you forgot your maths homework and had a meeting with Mr Park?” You ask, making Mark’s face drop as he launches himself to his feet and mumbles a profanity, running towards the stairs. “Right. Organised as ever.”

The three remaining boys laugh as they see Mark run out of the big pool room, probably running straight into a detention with one of your most belittling and intimidating teachers. You return your attention to your homework for the final ten minutes of lunch whilst the boys continue discussing the dance.

Suddenly there's a hand closing your textbook, and Jaemin is giving you his brightest smile. You frown at him, wiggling your hands out and pulling the textbook close to your chest. His smile reminds you of warmth and comfort, and it’s one of the first times you’ve been alone with more than one of the other boys without Mark and still felt okay about being there.

“Come to the dance with me,” Jaemin asks, making Chenle drop his box of food and Jeno drop his jaw. “We can just go as friends, I don’t mind. But I wouldn’t want you spending one of your last school dances at home, or with some jerk that we don’t trust.”

“But didn’t you want to ask that other student?” You frown, making Jaemin chuckle to himself. He adjusts his school tie before resting his hands on his knees.

“I did, but she seemed very adamant about going with that other guy, and I don’t want to end up going with Donghyuck again,” Jaemin rolls his eyes, making you smile. There’s a little warmth in your chest that makes you feel all tingly and weird, but you roll with it as you nod.

“I guess so. If it makes you guys happy,” you smile, and the three boys cheer loudly. Jaemin leans across and hugs you awkwardly, before letting go of you. The lunch-bell rings and the four of you are forced to go and find Mark to drag him to your final classes of the day, in which you are rather looking forward to telling him you will be going to the dance with someone who isn’t him.

“So… you and Jaemin?” Mark asks as the two of you walk home together. To get to your house, you have to pass Mark’s, and so the two of you have walked home together every day since you started school. “Going to the dance together?”

“As friends,” you clarify, making Mark chuckle. The whole situation had happened so fast at lunch that you were a little shocked about what had happened the whole of your last few lessons. It had only just hit you in science last period that Mark had asked another girl out, and hadn’t even mentioned it to you. 

You weren’t upset because he had picked someone over you - you were, in fact, over the moon for him - but rather that he hadn’t asked your opinion about it first. He asked for your opinion on everything; clothes, albums, even what he should eat for lunch. Yet here you were, shocked by him.

“It’s cute, Jaemin got lucky,” Mark says, knocking your elbow with his as the two of you hold on the straps of your rucksacks. “Really lucky, in fact.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” You ask, but Mark just shrugs and changes the topic of conversation instantly. This makes you frown because Mark was suddenly acting so out of character, and you hated sudden change more than most things in life.

“I have a swimming competition the day before the dance,” Mark says, which was just over a week away. Your heart lifts from it’s sad shelf slightly as you wait for him to ask you to come along with him. “I was thinking of inviting HeeJin. You wouldn’t mind her going, right?”

This was like a stack of bricks to the stomach. Change, all of it happening too fast. It was like Mark and HeeJin were getting married in a month, with the rate this was all moving at. But still, you put on a brave smile and nodded; the worst that would happen is that the two of you would discuss Mark for a while, she would confess her undying love for him, and then you’d fall silent and watch her cheer Mark to victory.

“It’ll be nice to speak to her properly before the dance, I guess,” you shrug casually, hiding your fears behind normal social behaviours. Mark comes to a stop outside of his house, rubbing the back of his neck as he avoids looking anywhere but you.

“I actually… I was only going to take her. I was going to take her out for a date afterwards, maybe,” Mark stutters out, looking awkward for the first time in forever. Mark Lee was many things, but awkward was something he rarely was.

“Oh,” you say, already letting your feet begin carrying you home, “oh, okay. Yeah that’s fine. Have fun, I’ll see you tomorrow,” and with that, you spin and practically run the final five minutes home, ready to cry.

This was too much change.

Your mother noticed your bad mood the second you stepped in the house, opening her arms and letting you collapse in them. You tell her about Mark and HeeJin going to the dance together, and clarify that you were happy for him about that. Then you tell her about the swimming competition, and this is where she frowns.

“But why can’t you still go with them?” She asks, running a hand over your thick hair and shaking her head. “You could easily catch a bus home. You’ve never missed a competition of Mark’s, even when you’ve been half-dead with illness.”

“Exactly,” you say, finally wiping away the last of your tears, “I just don’t like this sudden change. Why would he do this?”

“I really don’t know,” your mother says, kissing your forehead once before smiling at you, “want me to talk to his mum?”

“No!” You exclaim, making her chuckle, “I’ll just see how it goes. Oh, we aren’t doing anything Saturday, right? Because Chenle, Jeno and Jaemin are taking me dress shopping-”

“You are so going!” Your mother finishes for you, making you smile. You leave her side after continuing the chat a little longer to finish your homework, but don’t expect to see your phone full of messages.

Usually your phone is buzzing like mad because of the group chat, but tonight that is eerily quiet. Instead Mark and Jaemin have both sent you two messages each, both containing very different content. Mark is questioning why you had run off so soon after school, and sends a second apologising if he had done anything to offend you. You ignore those and swap to Jaemin’s messages instead, smiling at his mad ways.

Nana: I’m thinking purple for the dance? It would look so pretty on me- and you, I guess~

You giggle as you type back a response, then switch your phone off for the evening to get on with work. You figured that burying yourself in some maths work would make everything a little easier to think through, but by the end of the homework - which you emotionally power work through - you are even more confused and hurt than before.

“You guys went shopping without me?” Mark asks as he drops his books beside you in maths, earning a warning cough from your teacher. You twirl your pencil in your fingers, homework prepared to hand in. Mark curses as he realises there was homework due, and begins to scribble down answers on the sheet. He manages to sign his name off at the bottom of it just as the teacher announces he will be collecting the sheets, making Mark breathe out.

“You didn’t answer the messages in the chat,” you shrug, beginning to take the notes from today’s lesson. Mark frowns, opening his phone to check through the messages. He lets out a soft ‘oh’ sound, swiping away a message from HeeJin before turning his attention back to you.

“Oh well, did you have a nice time?” He asks, making you smile. “I’m so proud of you for hanging out with them without me, you know.”

“It was really nice,” you shrug, brushing your hair behind your ear. “They aren’t nearly as bad as I thought they were when I gave them the task of shutting up and finding me the prettiest dress they could find, although Renjun has no fashion sense for love nor money.”

“He’s pretty wild,” Mark chuckles, and for the remainder of the lesson it’s as if nothing had ever happened. Perhaps nothing had happened; perhaps you were being over dramatic when you needn’t be. Whatever the circumstances, you want to forget about the last few days of emotional torture you’ve put yourself through.

So it goes back to normal, almost. At lunch times you are much more chatty with the boys, and sit beside Jaemin rather than Mark almost every lunch for the following week. They invite you out for dinner Wednesday night, and take you to a dingy restaurant downtown that normally you would never dream of walking inside of. It’s maddening to think that only a week ago you could barely spend a few hours with all seven boys, relying on Mark like an anchor, and now you are happily hanging out with them all day, with or without Mark.

It’s almost as if Mark had replaced you with HeeJin, and you had replaced Mark with Mark and his friends instead.

Life is very bliss and happy for the remainder of that week. Mark chats about HeeJin maybe too much, but you let it slide and be happy for your best friend. He deserved happy after looking after you for so long. And in the meantime, your friendship with Jaemin would develop into something special as well, something cute and fluffy that you had never felt with another boy before. When you spoke to Mark about this though, he got very protective and warned you about Jaemin, almost bad-mouthing his younger friend to protect you.

It’s Friday night when the whole week of bliss shatters around you; or Mark, rather, and that has a knock-on effect on you. He calls you at eight in the evening, something he never does; if he were to speak to you, he would walk all the way round to your house to talk to you in person. You had been laying in bed, happily texting both Chenle and Jaemin separately about tomorrow, whilst also Snapchatting Lucas photos of your dress.

“Y/n?” Mark sounds heartbroken, and for the life of you you don’t know why. He had been so happy this lunchtime when you had seen him, boasting about the competition tomorrow - there was basically no competition as Mark was destined to win - and then the dance tomorrow night, where he had even brought a tie to match HeeJin’s dress without her knowing. You had not figured within the space of a few hours that Mark’s mood would change so drastically, but you let him cry into the phone for as long as he needs until you can finally get to the root of the problem.

“She’s not coming with me. It had all been a set up, or something, with her friends; she’s cancelled on me, and now I have no one to go with,” Mark finally answers you, getting to the root of his problems. “I can’t possibly go now, y/n, this just ruins everything. Everyone has a date but me!”

You are torn; you want to step up, offer for him to tag along with Jaemin and you and for the three of you to do a redo of prom last year, but in Mark’s honour instead. But on the other hand, you want to be a little bit selfish for once and spend the night with Jaemin; he was, strictly, your date after all, and he had even gone as far as getting his haircut and suit tailored properly for the event. You knew it would probably upset Jaemin as much as it was upsetting you if you invited Mark along, but he was your best friend after all.

“Just come along with the group,” you say light heartedly, “Chenle is bringing Lucas, Jisung and Donghyuck are coming together and Renjun is just showing up because he can.”

“But I wanted it to be special,” Mark says tiredly, finally having finished crying. “For our last one, y/n, I wanted it to be special.”

You feel guilt hit the bottom of your stomach, and you aren’t even sure you’ll be able to get yourself out of bed tomorrow morning seeing as it is that heavy in your gut. Swallowing, you offer your last piece of advice to your best friend.

“Just show up tomorrow, you never know what it might bring.”

You had managed to talk Jaemin into going to the competition with you; he had sweetly taken your hand when he had picked you up - admittedly, by his father’s taxi service - and had only let go when the two of you climbed back out. 

You were now sat, shoulders touching, cheering on Mark in the competition. It was a very intense one, and it was one of those races that made you feel tired watching Mark swim. But you did as you always did and supported him unconditionally, without doubting that he’d win.

Naturally, he did amazing and pulled up first place without an issue, but he looked so glum collecting his rewards that you wanted to run down the steps and hug him tightly, so much so that you could squeeze the sadness out of him.

Jaemin and you had waited outside the swimming pool for Mark to leave, and you spotted him from a mile away. You practically launched yourself into his arms and hugged him tightly, cheering him so loudly that you couldn’t hear his exclamations of surprise.

“Y/n?” He says when you finally stand on the ground again. By this point, Jaemin has joined you with a sparkle in his eyes, and you are blushing for such a loud reaction. “You came to see me?”

“Of course I did, silly!” You say, making Mark blush. He runs his hands through his hair, making it even curlier as it dries in the afternoon sun, “I’ve never missed a swimming competition, right?”

“Even that time you were dying with the flu,” Mark explains the situation to Jaemin, who laughs at you whilst you roll your eyes at the two boys who were laughing at your misfortune.

It was the dance. You were terrified. You were walking by Jaemin’s side, enjoying the way your lilac dress swished around you and the sound of your shoes on the floor. You felt powerful, but also tiny. Jaemin was so broad and looked so beautiful tonight that you knew there would be a lot of eyes on him.

Thankfully, they wouldn’t be on you though. You were only showing up with Jaemin, then Mark was your date for the rest of the night. You had hate the way things had worked out for an hour this afternoon, but now you were rolling with it.

It was Jaemin that had suggested it after all. He told you to go to the dance with Mark, that he'd hang out with his other friends but you and Mark deserved a proper final mid-year dance together. And so that was where you were.

You were nervous; you could see Mark standing at the entrance to the school, straightening his tie - that he had borrowed from Jaemin - and checking the time on his phone. All nervous habits that your best friend always did, things he had adopted from you over time.

“Ready, princess?” Jaemin asks as you climb the short flight of stairs to the gym. You giggle at his name for you before nodding, not entirely sure what tonight will bring. 

Mark hears Jaemin’s voice, looks up and spots the two of you walking towards him. His face breaks out into the brightest grin you’ve ever seen him wear, entire body relaxing as you stand opposite him. You swap Jaemin’s arm for Mark’s, let Jaemin take a photo of the two of you before disappear ahead of you to go and find someone to annoy naturally.

“You look so beautiful,” Mark says softly, his eyes slightly watery as the two of you walk through the decorated school. “I’m so proud of you for tonight, and happy we got to go to it together.”

Nerves were threatening to make your knees buckle, you knew that despite the nervous feeling in your gut, it will be okay. Mark will be right there, supporting you every step of the way through every dance, saving you from disastrous social interactions and giving you a dance to remember, just as you were dragging his sorry self to the dance because he deserved a good one. Because he was your best friend, and that’s what best friends did for each other.

"Well I just..." you start nervously, "I just wanted to ask if you're ok. Usually you're always helping everyone and it seems like there's something wrong so, just know if you need someone to talk to, I'm here." you say finally nodding slowly

you watch as the tiniest of smiles reappears on Jeonghan's face

"That's really nice of you to offer."

you wait to see if he elaborates

"I've just been a bit tired lately, with studying for the O.W.L.'s and whatnot."

you nod making reassuring eye contact with him

"My scores in transfiguration aren't the best right now, but since I'm kind of the one everyone looks to for help when they're stressed, I try really hard not to let the others know when I'm worried myself." he said puffing his cheeks a bit

you stared at him for a bit

Jeonghan must genuinely care so much for everyone if he went to the point of sitting by himself in the library just to make sure his friends weren't worried

"Well, I'm not sure if I'm any help as a fourth year" you say timidly, "but my best subject is transfiguration, and I have older siblings who show me stuff all the time. Let me see what you're having trouble with."

he looks at you a bit skeptically before turning the textbook he was reading around for you to see

it's a diagram of the vanishing spell, a transfiguration spell that will most likely be on the O.W.L.'s

you smile up at Jeonghan

"Hey I know this one really well! My brother showed me ages ago."

"Really? I'm struggling with it a lot, but I guess it must be easy for a Ravenclaw." he smiled

your breath caught a bit as you felt your heart race a bit at his smile

you thought that Jeonghan's smile was the best thing in the world

and you wanted to make sure he kept smiling since he made everyone around him as happy as he could

the boy was everyone's saving grace from a bad day or bad moods in general

so you meet him out on the grounds the next day and you can tell he's pretty nervous

but you're pretty confident and you have like five bottles of butter beer and pumpkin juice lined up next to a few bowls of water you set up on the ground

"Rules are simple, for every vanishing spell you do perfectly, I'll treat you to a free drink!" you call laughing

you notice he lightens up and starts smiling with you

the both of you work the afternoon away

you helping him with wand technique

and when he gets it perfectly for the first time

in a moment of screaming elated excitement

he turns to you with the biggest grin on his face as he hugs you

and promptly realizes what he did

and you both turn pink and start blushing as you pull away

but PROGRESS!!!!

you're so happy he finally did it and he's super thankful too

in the end he has it down

and you both just sit watching the sunset while sipping your bottles of pumpkin juice

"Who needs a vanishing spell when you can just drink the delicious drink, right?" you giggle raising your bottle for a toast

and as Jeonghan returns it with a gentle clink of his bottle to yours

you sigh contentedly proud you could be of some help

the next few weeks you don't see Jeonghan around that much

for obvious reasons of course

you're both a year apart and in different houses

but whenever you do see him in the hallways he gives you a big grin and literally runs up to you to give you a hug

or yell and jump around with you because he did well on his transfiguration exam

and although you don't see him as much as you want to

you're really happy to see him smiling again

and when the weekend rolls by you're super excited

and you put on your best outfit

even though you think you're crazy

not like it was a date or anything, just a fifth year thanking you for helping him out in a class

but you couldn't help the smile that crept up your face as you walked into Hogsmeade

to see Jeonghan there with a small bouquet of flowers

and freaking Joshua and Seungcheol laughing their asses off at Jeonghan before he turned around to threaten to smack them with the flowers

"Here." he said smiling nervously before giving them to you

"Aww they're so pretty thank you." you laugh taking them into your arms

"I just can't thank you enough, y/n." he stands a bit awkwardly before Seungcheol comes up behind the two of you

"Not to be blunt and all... but I'm going to go practice quidditch. And leave the two of you alone. Yea." Seungcheol laughs and you can literally see Jeonghan shooting lasers at Seungcheol with his eyes

oh but the best part

freaking Hong Jisoo

walks up to the two of you

with this sly af smile on his face

"Hey y/n, I'm going to take off too. You see, Jeonghan shoved me into a broom closet once because I had a crush on this person, and it must have worked because we're dating now, but I still haven't completely forgiven Jeonghan, and so I thought now would be a great time...."

"Shua I swear if you-"

"Take this as a metaphorical broom closet and I apologize profusely."

Joshua gives you a sheepish smile before Seungcheol gives you a gentle push, causing you to trip before Jeonghan catches you in his arms

and legit Seungcheol and Joshua running away laughing

"I THOUGHT THE TWO OF YOU WERE PREFECTS, I'M REPORTING YOU FOR EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL ABUSE!!!!" Jeonghan yelled after them

the both of you still blushing as he's still holding you in his arms

"So...."

Rosethorn and fishlegs would be talking and the conversation would delve into past relationships and honestly, grimhilda was prob rosethorn’s first kiss, like it was on purpose on grims part, rose was prob like “i’m 17 and i’ve never kissed anyone” and grim prob didn’t even look up from sewing some fur and gave her a smooch “now you have, and you would’ve gotten kissed sooner if you would actually give any boys i set you up with a chance!!!”
