A little 15 min doodle but first post of the year has to be Bingqiu!

#ok its time to get mushy in the tags because I doubt anyone would read them too closely #I’ve had severe art block for YEARS before I got into danmei in 2024 #and it wasn’t that my skill was gone it’s just that I thought nothing I did was good enough #I started reading danmei around the summer of last year and I got SO INSPIRED #I dived into the fandom side of things (I haven’t been in a live fandom in years) and was so excited about all the art people were making #and writing! and music! and animatics!#everything was so bright and colorful and beautiful #and everyone had such cool designs for these book characters that I’d grown to love #so I took a chance and doodled a little Luo Binghe and posted him on here #and I was so taken aback by how welcoming and sweet the fandom was #it made me wanna keep taking chances and posting my art— because I think that’s one of the hardest things I’ve come to accept #that even if it’s not good enough for me #someone else may enjoy it #and ain’t it crazy that ive come to enjoy drawing again too #sure the interaction has been fun but it’s been even more fun experimenting with my style and experimenting with colors and rendering #and grayscale and angles #and composition and expressions #ahh!! art is so fun!! something that will never fail to be amusing to me is when an mdzs college au needs the name of a professor, and then suddenly shen qingqiu is there

#ah yes professor shen we all know him #would love to see a fic that is like. largely focused on whatever mdzs characters are thrown into the college au setting #but you get the impression there's some kind of b-plot happening just off screen #where shen-laoshi is having some kind of weird drama with his former TA #or even just like. in the middle of class or office hours or something #professor shen's absurdly beautiful husband shows up to deliver him lunch #im imagining wwx going into office hours or something #and his brain to mouth filter completely fails him and he makes some comment like damn shen-laoshi's got game!#sqq regrets every decision he's ever made and lbh is having to remind himself that he's not allowed to kill his husband's students #anyway. i think it's silly and i enjoy it #i mostly only see it with sqq but i did read a fic once where one of the random jin kids bullying jin ling #was named luo bingbing and i was like ??#i don't think it was a reference to him but it felt like too strong of a coincidence #i think more scum villain characters should be random background characters in mdzs aus. it's very funny #sqh and jgy work in the same accounting firm or something #lqg is jc's personal trainer. idk.

Well, I gotta say, 37 was cast for a reason...

Onion: So, Atticus said that the funniest season to film was chapter 7, may you tell us why?

Sophia: Oh, well that- I don't think I can tell you that...

"Sophia, are you ready? The producers want to know how it looks before chapter 7!"

"One moment Thirty-Seven. This dress has a lot of accessories..."

Once Sophia finally walks out of the dressing room, the stunning black dress with blue accents perfectly illustrates the change of character mid-chapter as well as marking a difference between the old Sophia and the new Sophia. It's a really stunning dress, Thirty-Seven especially thinks so

"? Thirty-Seven?"

"Oh... Oh wow."

"Does it look bad?"

"What?! You're Gorgeous!"

And this continued for a while, escalating a bit with time. From silly pick up lines to more... Dedicated lines.

"Sophia, are the sum of one plus two plus three?"

"uh, no."

"Because you got me six."

"... Please spend less time with Miss Lucy."

The scene unfolding before them is supposed to be sad, a betrayal and abandonment. Sophia turned her back to 37, looking at her over her shoulders, regret and determination present in those beautiful green eyes of hers. Arcana's hand caught Sophia's attention, she is also staring at 37.

They both waited for a line that never came, standing there awkwardly until Sophia had to turn around to stare at 37 fully.

"Uh... Thirty-Seven (whispering), your line..."

"Oh! Sorry you're just so beautiful from this angle, the perfect angle to stare at you!"

"I'm not sure you were staring at her face though"

Arcana had a big laugh that moment, Sophia's red face was something that couldn't be ignored and they had to re-do that scene multiple times.

Arcana would laugh when she remembered that moment, Thirty-Seven would forget her lines and instead stare intently at Sophia, and Sophia would blush almost every take.

Onion: I see, so you couldn't concentrate because Sophia was really beautiful?

Thirty-Seven: That is a big understatement! Sophia was like a shining star in the sky, her light attracting me even more than before. It was really attractive when she turned her back to me and looked at me with such eyes, how could I concentrate when I had an angel right in front of my eyes?!

Onion: *taking notes* ...Okay, please tell me more.

#yans stuff #to be clear I am a professional bullshitter and might do it anyways #but man.#it hinges on my knowledge of 1. ta'agra (non existant) and 2. early persian poetry (surface level at best)#bc I always thought that would be a place to draw inspiration from if I was to attempt some sort of ta'agra poetry #bc it's really beautiful and I think the themes of religion and love would translate well to the setting #and then it was brought to my attention that there's a fan made ta'agra poetry book in morrowind that's presented as a translation #to cyrodiilic and the intro was like. I swear verbatim the thing u see in real world 1800s orientalist translations of persian poetry #and I went OH PERFECT #(no shade to the author of that btw it does perfectly encapsulate the frustration of reading these older translations of texts and #it was likely deliberately done to emulate that)#but yeah poetry is hard. making up poetry in a fictional language EVEN HARDER #alas. god i miss the food in japan. knowing that nothing around here (my hometown in the southern united states) will ever even come close to it is devastating.

#we went to a trendy ramen place in my hometown once and (while it was busy and cutely decorated)#their ramen was so dogshit it made me think i just didn't like ramen (that wasn't instant noodles) for YEARS #yeah right.#at least it set me up to have a beautiful moment in the ramen museum in shin-yokahama (HIGHLY recommend that place if you're in the area)#where i realized. oh. this is what it's like... to eat good ramen... god it's so beautiful #i'm also going to be chasing the high of the gyukatsu place we at at on our last night in tokyo for the rest of my life #tldr don't trust white millennials to make you good ramen. you will be disappointed.
