On my hands and knees, pleading with the universe for this week to turn around.
#how has every day been consistently terrible???#feels like a statistical anomaly#Like you’d think at least one day would be good but I’m fucking miserable lol#and I thought that like getting it all off my chest in therapy would help#And then I go onto TikTok after and find out one of my favorite characters just died in a show I’m not caught up on#and they killed my other favorite character a couple weeks ago#And that’s not even the worst part of this week#and my dad has just been fucking awful today#my parents base self-worth on how much you’re working#And I’m not working and you can imagine how much they fucking hate me for it#I think if I could beat the shit out of my parents it would fundamentally heal every problem I’ve ever had.

Top Hazbin Hotel Songs so far: (order not super relevant because I jump a lot between my favorites so it’s hard to have a definitive ranking.)
(Note: ALL the songs were bops. There wasn’t a single one I disliked. I’m just going off which ones hit me the hardest and are now living in my head.)
1. Stayed Gone- this song is just so fucking catchy. The quick talking of Vox at the beginning is great- displaying confidence while also clearly overcompensating. The music is pretty repetitive at first but in a comforting way, being simple in terms of number of instruments. And then Al comes in and changes it up. I love the way these two argue- Al just roasting the hell out of Vox was great. The rivalry between these two is great and so entertaining to watch.
2. Loser Baby- so cute. Keith David’s voice was amazing. Loved Angel and Husk’s chemistry. Angel’s shock/annoyance at Husk at first is hilarious. Also songs like that and Crooked (from Helluva Boss) really are saying something’s we really don’t hear often enough: that things are a mess sometimes, but that doesn’t mean you’re alone. Both songs acknowledge the messy parts of the characters and both say “I see that, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care for you.” Plus it being in the same episode as Poison? Their messages complimented each other well and kind of closed the story for it.
3. Poison- Blake Roman is just- wow. No words. When this song came out a couple weeks ago I had it on repeat obsessively. We get to see Angel’s internal thoughts- his self-blaming for all the shit that’s happening, and how hopeless he feels. The emotion poured into this is astounding. It was amazing as a stand-alone song, and then the way the show integrated it in episode 4 made it hit even harder. It’s definitely A LOT- but sometimes that’s what makes such hard hitting songs, being so personal.
4. Hell is Forever- Alex Brightman killed it as always. I listened to this one on repeat dozens of times. It’s so insanely catchy. The rock(?) music that comes in to cut Charlie off? Also this song nails in the fact even more than Adam SUCKS. And while this is happening we are delivered the logic behind the angel’s choices- explicitly saying “yeah we don’t care. Murder is fun :)” AND are given the information about major conflict of season- that the extermination day for moved up.
5. Respectless- got brain worms from this. The way Velvette dropped in and changed the whole genre of the song was A W E S O M E. Her and Carmilla both SLAPPED. Also the line “I’m the backbone of the Vees” was just- I just loved the energy of the song. Major Six vibes. I’d love Lilli Cooper to sing more in the show!

Yandere Sebastian Michaelis x Dom(?)male reader
My feelings for him caught on so I'm writing this.
Idk this just came to mind and this was from four or three years ago
One day, you wake up, your body similar to the body you had. You know you died, you saw that ‘God’ or whatever they called themselves. It looked horrific but mesmerizing but they said something along the lines of “it's a mistake” “Game she likes”.
After arriving it seems that they were talking about your sister's favorite otome game with black butler, a popular anime after it was released for a while but some of the characters were good looking. You always felt a connection with one of the characters, Sebastian Michaelis.
After you composed yourself, you realize your character is the soft dom butler in love and sorta obsessed with Sebastian then when the MC came and she made you realize he didn't like you, you become obsessed with the MC then one night a mysterious vampire was hungry and drained you, you died in a very tragic and painful way.
Well you didn't want that and you realize this was months before the MC came to the manor so when you started to work, you slowly distanced yourself from Sebastian.
One day, Sebastian asked to talk to you. He was asking why you seem colder and will it affect your work performance. You, with a “did you hit your head or something” Look, questioned why he would care cause all the staff barely do they're work right and he could do it all again in a second. He then dismisses you. After that you returned to your job while slowly only asking or answering Sebastian when you needed his help or when he needed your assistance.
Sebastian, after the conversation, questions himself ‘why did i care if he's cold to me’ ‘it didn't even affect the job?’. Later that night Sebastian asked if you liked him. You answered the truth that you used to but you decided to stop your feelings before it got too far. Little did Sebastian or you know, this little conversation would spark a wildfire.
After a while Sebastian felt that he needed to have your attention on him again. He felt that without your attention he felt something was amiss so he decided to get your attention but it all failed with either a questioning look or other staff praising him. A month passed, the MC still had a few couple months before she arrives but just to prepare for the vampire you started to workout, guess being a “soft dom” Helped cause your strength and muscle mass increase quite fast and you suddenly was able to rip metal, you had to apologize quite a lot cause of that. (The workout was in the course of the month)
A week later and it was your turn to go shopping in the town for snacks and delicacies that the servants and young earl Phantomhive wanted. After getting what they wanted and ordering for the rest to be sent and some to be brought later, you go and pick the thing you want and for some reason you decide getting some peroxide would be useful. After getting the rest of the items, it turns out it was already late.
While walking to your horse you felt like someone was watching you or stalking you. You decided if it was a human you could beat them. So you went into an alley. When you look back you saw a… … … Vampire?????
Why did it arrive now??? Wasn't your death by blood drainage months later???? When the vampire attacked you, you felt nothing. Not fear, not adrenaline, nothing. After being pounced on, you felt your life flash before you eyes, the life of a butler over the course of two months. But feeling like this vampire is weak and testing that theory, you decide to pull him off and bite his neck (like "UNO REVERSE B*TCH" type of thing), after he is stunned, you grab his heart and start to rip it to shreds, somewhere in the middle you feel the heart stop beating.
(I don't really know the other ways to kill a vampire so i just took a theory that you need to stab they're heart with a stake and make it tha even if it's not inside the body, the vampire could still live and just go off that)
When you woke up, it was in the same room you woke everyday for the past 2 months, your room, and you didn't feel any pain. When you saw yourself in the mirror you saw a body that went from ‘soft dom’ to ‘daddy dom’ (even I'm having secondhand embarrassment). Your body used to have a layer of fat covering your abs but now you're ripped. After thinking how you got back, a memory flashed. You suddenly remember subconsciously bringing the snacks back and cleaning your clothes of any blood with the peroxide.
Feeling nothing is wrong you decide to continue working. While working you felt that Sebastian has been acting strange, he acted like you're disgusting but also he's in love with you. You didn't know why until you saw Baldroy accidentally cut his finger and wanting to suck it up, you turned into a vampire. You decide nothing of it until that night you had a dream of the ‘God’.
They said that it was going off course but this was more entertaining so They would let it be and both you and ‘him’ are entertaining to watch. You woke up at midnight confused. When you tried to sleep again you felt thirsty but you didn't want to drink blood like dracula style. So you decide to go to the kitchen. When you were about to go take a glass you saw on the table a red liquid, you already know what it is just by smell but your body felt like it forced itself to go by instinct and gulped it down your throat. Afterwards you felt like you could go to sleep
The next day, you wake up energized and excited so you were able to finish your job early and decided to rest. A few moments later Sebastian passed by. He decided to ask if you're a vampire and he assured you that he would harm you and you showed signs of knowing he is a demon (i think).
After telling him, Sebastian seems to reassures himself for some reason and then says, there's a guest that comes from France and he hoped you could help the others from making a mess while he helps the young master. You didn't see why not so you helped the others but it seems before you had arrived they had already made a mess. You decided to clean up while waiting for Sebastian to show up as usually he has a plan for all this.
Well that ended quite happily with the guest running and falling to his carriage. Though with that experience you realize your senses have quadrupled and you could hear almost half the manor if you were in front of it quite clearly if you tried. But it seems sometimes when you don't deliberately try to hear it just goes 3 meters around you clearly. Suddenly you woke up again at midnight thirsty and you saw the same cup filled with blood on the same spot. You thought nothing of it as your body just swallowed the blood like chugging a beer.
Two months past and there is only two months left before the MC of this game arrives for a “my uncle house burned so he sent me here because your father was close to my uncle and you father owes us something in return of saving his life” quite cliche but ok. But the most surprising thing is that you have slowly fallen in love with Sebastian Michaelis over this past month for no reason!!!! Sure it could be after you turn into a vampire you stopped distancing yourself but how could your heart beat for that heartless demon TT.
After a few days, you decide to confess as it's best to get your feeling destroyed now than later 🙃. After asking Sebastian to meet you at the kitchen, you waited for the agreed upon time and a few minutes before you saw Sebastian. When you finally said the words, you were hoping Sebastian would dump you by saying things like “a relationship between servants is not ideal for a healthy environment” Or “I'm not looking for a love life, sorry” But it shocked you, Sebastian said that he has had the same feelings for a WHILE!!!. Oh well, guess we're dating now 😬🤭.
Though somehow your dom character made Sebastian to a sub in the relationship as you thought impossible (i just like making a canonly dom man to a sub😋😓). So he moved into your room and somehow the bed magically got bigger.
When the day comes for the MC to arrive. You were right beside Sebastian as your relationship still stands and it's strong with Sebastian's subtle jealousy and possessiveness and young master Ciel's permission😭. When MC arrived she was different. She didn't come with a white lotus facade but she came in strong and asked for a job????
Afterwards,I thought she would accuse me of stealing Sebastian or something but she didn't care, all she cared about was books and doing her job. Soon she came to me to talk but she didn't sound like she despised me and somehow I accidentally told her you were reincarnated. Then she said she did as well. When we talked about what and where you’re from it turns out this world is currently a BL book and the main character is you. Though whenever she says something that hasn't happened yet you can't seem to hear or understand her. Her writing looks gibberish her words sounds messed up but she's always warning you about something.
One day you saw her talk to Sebastian about something she knows he's doing and asking him to stop. And Sebastian laughing and telling you won't believe her and you won't even be able to hear her. You decide to ignore and continue working. Later that evening you decide to rest, the MC named Alice (i forgot to name her) meet you and told you something shocking and you were able to hear her completely
the day after you turned into a Vampire, What you didn't know was that Sebastian knew the moment a vampire got inside the house but didn't know who until you showed up to work. He was confused on how you became a vampire and disgusted by the thought of being a vampire but the moment he knew it was you, he decided not to care. That evening, after the young master was still working, Sebastian decided to read about vampires.
Suddenly he saw a book, the book felt it was calling him. When he picked it up and read it, he saw a bold text.
“ A VAMPIRE WILL FALL MADLY IN LOVE WITH A DEMON/DEVIL IF THEY SO MUCH AS A DROP EVERY DAY FOR TWO MONTHS” (works with angels blood too~)
Sebastian read the rest of the article saying things like “because to a vampire, a demon’s/devil's blood is like a love potion that if the two months pass, they will never truly hate the demon/devil. Angels have weaker effects because blah blah blah blah” Like being struck by lightning Sebastian knew what to do to poor you. (The “blah blah” is just what Sebastian stopped caring about).
After hearing everything, it all clicked in your head. How you suddenly liked him, how suddenly there was a cup of blood after you turned a vampire and also how suddenly you always felt drinking Sebastian's blood made you fall deeper for him but you thought nothing of it because you trusted him.
you decide to confront him but when you meet him,he was smiling, smirking, unbothered and when you saw his eyes you could think of anything else. Why were you angry, why were you enraged, what made you enraged. After a while of staring into his demonic eyes you snapped out of it. You remembered and asked Him the reason why he did this. He answered that it was because you didn't want to like him anymore so he felt something was missing so he decided to take matters into his own hands and take you for himself.
Usually you would feel betrayed but you felt nothing but affection for the person in front of you for unknown reasons. When you thought of what happened it felt like everything was erased and written back in a way that Sebastian was seen as the perfect man out there, no flaw in his logic, no problem in his love. You felt it was right to be with him.
When you stop thinking, suddenly your body moves, you move in the direction of Sebastian. You feel the need to drink his blood. He then realizes, his blood isn't only a love potion but it's an addiction, where you can't get anywhere else.
After Sebastian was able to shoo Alice out of the Phantomhive manor, he was delighted with the new found knowledge. He feels the rush of edging you when you disagree with him and rewarding you with his blood when you can't stop trying to drink his blood.
He would whine and act pitiful to you, pulling your heartstring but you still lead the relationship but the only reason the relationship even last his Sebastian’s blood
After Sebastian eats Ciel’s soul, he makes a contract with you, as you still had your soul as you didn't die from being bitten by a vampire. And so the both of you stay together with you leading and slowly falling in love with Sebastian and Sebastian getting more and more obsessed with You

can I ask your thoughts on the direction oshi no ko has gone?
Hi!
I personally dislike it. It feels like tragedy for the sake of gloom rather than catharsis. It is an ending that de-powers everyone's arc really.
Aqua is the only one who gets a complete arc, even if negative. He has a tragic arc and fails to have a positive development. He literally dies idolizing Ruby in juxtaposition to Kamiki, who dies idolizing Ai. Narratively, it makes sense for him to die, as he kills his shadow (Kamiki), but I would argue it does not really work for the story as a whole. And that is because the overall themes and the other protagonists' character arcs are all sacrificed for this negative outcome.
Ruby does not get to solve her feelings for Sensei/Aqua and is stuck in yet another tragedy. I don't know how her arc will be solved. Probably in a bittersweet and yet positive way, but here comes the thing. I don't think it is believable psychologically speaking. Ruby grew a lot, but she is still defined by the loss of sensei and AI. Nothing in the narrative happened to make me believe she would not react very very badly to Aqua's death tbh. We'll see.
Akane failed her objective to help Aqua and repay him. As a result, her development up until this point does not get any catharsis nor resolution. It literally goes nowhere.
Kana is worse than ever. She did not get to properly convey her feelings for Aqua and she went from being the tritagonist to being a character, who quietly disappears in the background, in what is ironically an echo of her acting career.
Finally, Ai's death finds no thematic resolution and her two final wishes are not fulfilled. Not only her children do not manage to save Hikaru, but one of them even dies himself.
All in all it feels like the story set up a plot with specific roles for each character to fulfill and then decided not to have them fulfill them for the sake of drama, rather than theme. I also personally disliked we spent so much time in Aqua's head as he arrived about a self-realization about his identity and that the climax was all about it... That was never truly the point of his character nor the series. The focus of the story isn't if Aqua and Ruby are Aqua and Ruby or Goro and Sarina. The point is that they get a second chance at living, so they can solve their complexes. Aqua even lampshades this, before the climax.
Now, I like well written tragedies, but I don't think the series is written as a tragedy really. The structure sets up positive arcs until the end of the movie arc, where you can see the author started changing the order of things, so that it could end in tragedy. So, there was the fake good ending, which was positive, but very weak. And then, there was a twist, so that a more powerful, but negative ending could be delivered. Except, I would have preferred the positive ending with the struggle of the tragic one :''') Especially because I really think it would have been the most powerful one possible for this series.
Anyway, there are still a couple of chapters left, I think. So, we will see the denouement. That said, I think the series lost its power in the final arc, which is a pity cause up until that point it was excellent. Like, the Dark Ruby's arc is one of my favorite arcs ever. I reread it some weeks ago and I cried a lot. That is the kind of power I was expecting in the finale, but instead we got a theme attached on the story at the last minute and a forced twist. It isn't one of the worst ending ever (especially if you read the series and the chapters all together probably), but it is definitely below the level of writing this story had. These are just my two cents of course :)

I Finally Get It
Pairing: Dean Winchester x Fem!Reader
Summary: Dean thinks he looks like a character from one of your favorite slasher films. You on the other hand...don't see the resemblance.
Original Prompt: Requested by @flory-alexandra | Hi, can you do something similar to -Spitting image-, but with Jensen's character from My Bloody Valentine
Word Count: 2.7k
Warnings: Cursing (2x), Fluff, Dean & reader acting like children, Jealous Dean & reader
Authors Note: Okay, despite the fact that I absolutely loved both prompts, I decided to go with the My Bloody Valentine one because I don't think that movie gets as much love as it deserves as a slasher film (okay maybe I'm bias, but Jensen did great in that film!!). Plus, Halloween is coming up in like a month and this is right around the time I start watching my horror movies and My Bloody Valentine is on my list to watch every single year | If you liked this, don’t forget to like & reblog. I really appreciate it! Feedback is always welcome ♡
Dean as Soldier Boy version
For as long as you could remember you’ve always loved horror movies. You loved the cheesiness, the bad special effects, the horrible acting — just the camp of it all. Horror movies always brought you a strange sense of comfort and you couldn’t really pinpoint why; not until a couple of years ago anyway. “I like to watch movies where I know the bad guy is going to lose,” which is something that Dean said on a hunt a few years back that really seemed to resonate with you. That strange comfort that you always felt when it came to these movies started to click, make sense. This life — the hunting life, the bad guy losing wasn’t always a guarantee.
Horror movies was one of the initial things besides hunting that you and Dean had bonded over. It started out as going to one of your rooms when an All Saint’s Day marathon was on — lying in bed together binging on pizza, chips, soda, and beer. Then it evolved — evolved into asking one another if they wanted to watch a movie together because one of you couldn’t sleep in the middle of the night. It evolved yet again — evolved into date nights once a week.
Today was the day, it was yours and Dean’s date night. Not only was it date night, but it was your week to pick the movie the two of you were going to watch. When it came to horror movie date night, you and Dean always alternated when it came to picking what movies you were going to watch. Although you enjoyed the movies that he tended to pick during his weeks, he always went with the same couple of movies; such as All Saint’s Day 4: Hatchet Man Lives, All Saint’s Day 5: The Search for David Yaeger or Hell Razer’s II: The Reckoning. Although you loved all three movies (thankfully you were able to convince him to no longer pick Hell Razer’s II — and for obvious reasons when you two started dating), you wished he picked something different; and that’s why you always cherished the weeks you had gotten to pick, as you rarely picked the same two or three movies.
As you were in the kitchen preparing some of the food for date night, Dean walked in with a few grocery bags in hand and placed them onto the counter that you were prepping food on. Looking up at him, he gave you the biggest grin as he watched you chopping up food on the cutting board. “Smells good Sweetheart. Whatcha making?”
You continued to chop away, your movements with the knife getting a tad faster. “I found this recipe on Pinterest that I wanted to try. It’s like this horror themed soup dish.” You said, bringing the vegetables you just cut up and placed them into the pot behind you.
“What’s in it?” He asked as he started taking out the beer he had just gotten from the grocery store out of the grocery bags.
“Lots of vegetables,” you began, Dean’s face scrunching in slight disgust, “and of course meat.” His face relaxed. “Vegetables won’t kill you Dean. It wouldn’t kill you to eat some once in a while.”
“I’m a warrior Y/N. Warrior’s don’t eat vegetables.” He said, and you couldn’t help but roll your eyes.
“You know who else won’t eat their vegetables Dean?” You began. “Toddlers. Are you a toddler Dean?” As he opened up his mouth to speak you cut him off. “Don’t answer that.”
“So, what movie did you pick for us to watch tonight?” He asked, opening up another grocery bag — but this time it was filled with snacks.
“My Bloody Valentine,” you smiled as you started working on the meat portion of the soup.
“Which one? The eighties version or the newer version?” He asked, taking a seat on the bar stool in front of where you were currently working.
“You know which one.” You smirked.
Dean let out a small chuckle. “The newer one.” He clicked his tongue, taking a beer and opening it. “It’s cause you think that the main guy is hot.” He grinned. “Might have to ban us from watching that one like how you banned me from watching Hell Razer’s II.”
You eyed him, giving him a look. “To be fair, I never slept with the actor who plays Tom.” Dean audibly gulped at your comment, and his face dropped.
“Okay fair enough.” He said taking a sip of his beer.
Once finishing up the soup you made for the both of you, you placed it on a tray along with some garlic bread, and other assorted snacks and made your way to Dean and yours shared bedroom; something that you still couldn’t believe was actually a thing. Sharing a bedroom with him wasn’t relatively new — you’ve been sharing it with him for the past couple of months, but it still seemed so odd to you; because for a majority of the time you had been living at the Bunker, you had your own room.
Walking into the bedroom Dean was already under the covers and had a beer on both side tables: one for him and one for you. As soon as you walked in, you shut the door behind you and he looked away from the television, giving you the biggest smile. “Let me help you with that Sweetheart,” he said getting up from underneath the covers.
“I got it don’t worry.” You said as he made his way toward you.
Placing his hands on the tray he said, “I insist,” and he smiled a reassuring kind of smile.
“Okay, if you insist.” You said, removing your own hands from the tray so it was only him holding it. Before he walked away he leaned in and gave you a quick peck, almost forgetting that there was a tray of hot food between the two of you that was easily spillable.
“So I already have the movie set up on the title screen, and I’m already tired of seeing that Tom guy’s face.” Dean said, placing the tray of food down on the bed before getting underneath the covers.
“Is that jealousy I hear in your voice Dean?” You asked, smirking as you got under the covers yourself. He looked at you with a defensive look.
“Me? Jealous? Pfft. Please.” He said, his voice radiating jealousy. “That Tom guy has nothing on me.”
“Right. Totally not jealous.” You said, slightly sarcastic. “I’m gonna press play now.”
“Fire away.” His tone still jealous.
As the two of you were watching the movie, Dean couldn’t help but notice how happy you were to be watching it. Every so often when he looked over at you, your face was just radiating this type of joy — similarly to the way you would look at him; that’s when it started to hit him. He turned to you, and your eyes were completely glued to the screen. “You really love this movie don’t you?” He asked, this tone slightly curious.
You turned to look at him briefly, keeping that same kind of joyful smile on your face. “I really do. I don’t really know why. I mean, I like the eighties version too but…I don’t know. There’s just something I like more about this version for some reason.” You said, refocusing your attention back to the screen.
“You know, I think I might have a theory.” Dean said, and you turned back to him, curious about what he had to say.
“And what’s your theory?” You asked before taking the remote and pausing the movie.
"The main guy,” Dean began, pointing to the screen — thankfully you had paused at a part where there was a clear view of the main guy’s Tom’s face. “He looks exactly like me.” You looked at him with pure confusion. “What? You don’t think so?” Dean asked.
“I mean…” You sighed a little before doing a double take between looking at Dean and looking at the screen. “I don’t really see it.” You stated.
“You don’t…you don’t see it?” He asked, sounding as if he was a little disappointed. “I mean,” that’s when Dean got up from under the covers, almost knocking the tray completely over in the process and walked over to the television screen, “look. Look with your eyes.” Dean stood there, trying his best to create the same exact angle as Tom was in in the movie.
“Look with my eyes…what else would I be looking with?” you mumbled, slightly mocking his tone before rolling your eyes. “Okay, okay.” Getting up from the bed you walked over and stood barely a foot away from Dean and the television as you eyed them both, squinting every once in a while trying to see the resemblance. “I’m sorry babe. I don’t see it.”
Dean let out a frustrated groan. “Are you even looking?” He asked, his hands gesturing between himself and Tom. “We look exactly the same.”
You pinched the bridge of your nose closing your eyes for a moment. “Of course I’m fucking looking.” You said, clearly sounding frustrated. You looked up at him again. “I’m sorry babe, I’m just not seeing it.”
“How? You’re usually good at the whole similarities thing.” He said. “Like, like how we can basically watch anything and you can tell me how this random obscure actor was in this one thing you watched like 10 years ago.”
“Dean, as much as I love the compliment, that’s something completely different.” You told him. “Besides, I don’t think I’ve even seen this guy in any other than this. He’s…he’s kind of an obscure actor. Not really popular.”
Dean took a deep breath. As much as he had wanted to continue, to continue trying to convince you how much he did look like this guy, he decided to drop it…at least for now. “Fine.” He simply said.
“Fine?” You questioned. “Huh. Thought you’d have more fight than that hon.”
As soon as you said those words, you knew you had poked the bear. “I was going to drop it. Not now!” Dean said, his voice practically animated sounding.
You looked at him with pure confusion on your face. “Dean?”
“I know how we can settle this!” He said, pointing his finger at you.
“No.” You said.
He cocked a brow. “No?”
“You heard me,” you said, pointing your finger at him now. “No.”
“What do you mean no?” He asked, he sounded confused at your response.
“We aren’t getting Sammy involved.” You said, crossing your arms. You couldn’t believe you were having this ‘argument’ or ‘debate’ with him.
“Who said I was getting Sammy involved?” He sounded offended now.
“Whenever we’re arguing or debating, you always want to get Sammy involved as a neutral party.” You said, slightly defensive.
Dean scoffed. “You get him involved just as much as I do!” He almost yelled. You knew he was right. “Ha!” He pointed, like a child who thought that they were winning an argument.
You rolled your eyes. “Can’t believe you called me out like that.” You said, feigning hurt feelings.
“Aw Sweetheart,” he began, making his way toward you. He placed a hand on your cheek and looked down at you, giving you a gentle smile. “I’ll make it up to you.” He said, his voice calm.
“Hmm, and how are you going to do that?” You asked. Your own voice starting to become calm.
“Like this.” He started to lean down inches away from your lips, and you could smell a slight hint of beer on his breath. “As soon as we get this debate of ours settled,” he whispered before booping you on the nose.
You looked at him confused because he’s never done that to you before; you’ve only ever done that to him. “Did you just…boop me?” You asked, your voice matching the confused look.
“I sure did Sweetheart.” He grinned. “No wonder you do it so much, it’s actually kind of fun.”
“Who are you and what have you done with Dean Winchester?” He couldn’t help but laugh at your question.
“Come on Sweetheart, let’s go get Sammy.” He said before he started making his way out the bedroom. “Sammy!” He yelled.
“Dean!” You yelled, practically chasing after him down the hallway. “If I say I agree with you, will you not bother Sam?” You asked. “I kinda just want to get back to date night.”
Dean stopped dead in his tracks, and you almost slammed into him. “Shit.” He mumbled, turning around to look at you. “I’m ruining date night aren’t I?”
His facial expression that was once full of triumph quickly turned into hurt. “No, you’re not ruining date night Dean.” You reassured him. “It’s just…” you sighed. “I’ll tell you what. Let’s ask him tomorrow okay?”
He looked at you and you held out your hand ready to shake his. “Deal.” He said as the two of you shook on the compromise.
Later that night, as the two of you were lying in bed you couldn’t sleep. You couldn’t help but stare at the ceiling, looking at the crack in it that Dean has yet to fix. You let out a sigh and looked over at Dean who was sound asleep, softly snoring away lying on his stomach, his face in your direction.
Your hand instinctively touched his hair, almost pushing it back despite his hair not nearly being long enough to do that. But you did it anyway as you loved playing with his hair — the same way he loved playing with yours (although he would never admit it).
“Love when you do that,” Dean mumbled, his eyes still closed. “Can’t sleep Sweetheart?”
“Not really,” you admitted. “Just…just have a lot on my mind.”
“Want to talk about it?” He asked, his voice still slightly full of sleep.
“It’s just…” you sighed, hating what you were about to say as you were staring at his sleeping face — a face that you’ve examined so many times. “You were right.”
His eyes started to flutter open more, trying to get rid of the sleepiness. “Right about what?” He asked.
“About earlier.” You said; you couldn’t help but look at those green eyes of his, much similar in color to that of the actor who played Tom in the movie. “You…you look like the guy that plays Tom.”
A grin formed on his face at he looked at you. “What changed your mind Sweetheart?” You thought he’d be more excited about your admittance of him being right, but you guessed it was probably because he was still relatively half asleep.
“Just staring at your face.” You said. “God that sounds so freaking creepy.” You let out a small laugh.
“You’re hot, I’ll let it slide.” He joked. “So this means we don’t have to subject Sam to a horror movie tomorrow uh?”
“No. I think he’s safe for another week.” You let out a small laugh.
“Can I ask you something?” Dean was fully awake now.
“Anything.” You smiled, still playing with his hair.
“My theory before.” He said.
“That’s not a question Dean.” You said, he rolled his eyes.
“Was my theory right though? The reason you enjoy it so much is because I look like the guy?” He asked.
“Dean, I didn’t even realize you looked like him until like five minutes ago.” You said, a bit more sass than you had intended to have. “You know, what even brought you to that theory anyway?”
“Now it’s my turn to sound creepy,” he let out a small chuckle before continuing. “I was just staring at your face. The same way you looked at him is the exact same way you look at me.” He explained.
“You somehow made it less creepy.” You scoffed, slightly amused. “You know, I never realized I looked at you a certain way.” You cocked your head a bit to the side. “How do I look at you by the way?”
“Like I’m the hottest person that you’ve ever laid your eyes on.” He winked.
“Now that doesn’t seem right at all.” You teased. “You really do notice the small details uh?”
“Sure do.” He said. “Especially when they come to you.” You couldn’t help but smile softly as this comment. You leaned in and kissed him, the two of you smiling into it.
“I love you,” you whispered, unprompted.
“I love you too Sweetheart,” he said back.

Sonic Superstars!
Superstars is out! And guess what? It's good! It's a worthy new entry in the series, and I mostly like it. Mostly. Except for the handful of parts I don't. As usual, allow me to share my thoughts.
(For the record, I got the PS5 version of Superstars. I can't speak for how it plays on older hardware like the Switch, or how the weird Steam version that seems to make you log in with Epic runs. But I encountered zero performance issues, personally.)
General thoughts
The thing is, aside from two notable flaws I'll discuss in greater detail below, I can sum up my feelings on most of Superstars quickly. You see, it's... a Sonic game. This will either be a blessing or a curse depending on who you ask. It's not a bold new take on the series that'll blow you away, but they also didn't fuck it up. There's no catch this time! There's something refreshing about that straightforwardness, given how rare it is to get a regular-ass New Sonic Game from Sega. It's just a new classic-style game where you can play as Amy, set on a new island with all new zones, and Fang is in it! This might be damning with faint praise, but that's what it says on the tin, and they did a good job overall.
(It also has co-op. That's nice. I didn't play it in co-op.)
It plays exactly how it should. At no point did anything feel Wrong. The graphics might not have the absolute highest fidelity, but I think the character models look really nice, and the levels look appropriately good with vibrant color palettes. A couple zones like Sky Temple gave me Klonoa vibes, which I like. One zone is an absolutely incredible homage that I won't spoil. The story here is minimal (as expected), but there are a few good moments of telling the story through the gameplay, particularly one very cute sequence with Trip. I did find a couple stage gimmicks moderately annoying (Speed Jungle 2 and Press Factory 2, looking at you), but like... I could say the same thing about Mania, and also damn near every other Sonic game ever made. There's always That One Level. Superstars may not raise the series to new heights, but it generally executes well on the standard beats of the series. It's an easy recommendation for all fans of 2D Sonic.
Really, aside from the two big flaws (we'll get to them), this game's greatest crimes are simply not being quite as good as Mania, and also coming out the same week as the more creative and polished Super Mario Bros. Wonder. If we hadn't gotten Mania, I would easily be calling this my favorite 2D Sonic game since... what, the Advance trilogy 20 years ago? I like the Rush games, but if you asked me to replay one or the other, I might have a better time with Superstars. And, yes, it beats the hell out of Sonic 4. It's not even close. Anyone who says this game is exactly like Sonic 4 is just being a hater.
...I guess I would say that $60 is a bit steep for this, but you know it'll be on sale for a more appropriate $30-$40 in a few months. This isn't a Nintendo game we're talking about here.
Nice little tweaks
Superstars also features a number of welcome quality-of-life updates over Mania, bringing it more in line with the design ethos of modern platformers.
You have infinite lives! No more getting a game over on the final boss and having to redo the whole final zone - or, god forbid, the entire game
Time overs are gone! It'll warn you before you go over ten minutes, but I have no idea why because it doesn't kill you anymore
The game features a hub from which you can easily replay previous levels, rather than needing to beat the game or put in a cheat code to unlock the level select
This means you can easily go back and hunt for any special stage rings you missed. However, as a tradeoff, it seems like you can only get one Emerald per zone now, rather than being able to get Super Sonic by the end of the first or second zone
You can swap characters between levels! No more having to start a whole 'nother save file to play as Tails
And those characters even have optional little movement tutorial rooms available from the hub, which is great for new players who may not know about things like the Drop Dash
And, finally, checkpoints now feature arrows pointing in the direction you were supposed to be going, in case you forget upon respawning
Of course, while you might not be getting game overs, Superstars certainly compensated with some bosses that kicked my ass.
Bosses
Here's what I would consider notable flaw #1.
I have mixed feelings on the bosses in Superstars. I don't think many of them are poorly designed - in fact, a lot of them are good, and offer fun moments of spectacle. But for a 2D Sonic game, they're REALLY long and drawn out, and by the late game this was starting to get draining.
Bosses tend to be the type where you have to dodge their attack patterns for a while until you get the chance to hit them exactly once, MAYBE twice. A few bosses seem to have quicker options if you abuse your post-hit invulnerability or play as a character with a double jump, but many will either be completely invincible or run away to the background for long periods of time, making it impossible to damage them outside of the allotted windows. And even if it seems like you'll be able to get in a second hit, many bosses turn invincible and skip ahead to the next attack pattern as soon as they take the first hit. Again, most of these fights aren't BAD, but because of this behavior they sometimes take almost as long to beat as the entire levels preceding them. This didn't bother me much early in the game, but against the more challenging bosses towards the end that kept killing me several minutes into a long fight, it got tiring. The final boss of Story Mode probably took me like an hour.
While this certainly isn't an uncommon style of boss design, part of me suspects they did this for the sake of co-op players. For one, playing in co-op means that you don't necessarily have to start the entire fight over if one person dies, so I assume the length is less of an issue. But in particular, true classic-style Sonic bosses that you can just hit repeatedly with good timing would go down in a few seconds against a team of four players. Likewise, the swarm of clones from the "Avatar" Emerald power would probably obliterate every Genesis era boss with one button press. So I get why every boss needs all these invulnerability periods, but still. I at least wish they'd made some of those attack patterns shorter and given you more frequent opportunities to deal damage.
Emeralds and their powers
Speaking of the new Chaos Emerald powers: they're neat, I guess? They're fine. I didn't use them much. Actually, I kept forgetting I even had them - although the game will play a noise and show an icon in the corner of the screen to remind you any time you reach a spot where a specific power is useful. Avatar, the first power you get, is at least good for getting a couple free hits in on the trickier bosses. Yellow's ability to slow time is obviously good, but, again, I always forgot I even had it and made it through just fine without it. I was also pleased to realize that the swimming power is useful for the water levels and not just for climbing up waterfalls.
Oh, and the new grappling-based special stages kind of suck, but they're not the worst, and I'll at least give them credit for trying something new. (Motion Sickness Zone from Sonic 1 does return as a bonus minigame, but I only did it once lmao.)
Battle Mode
I haven't played Battle Mode. Couldn't tell you if it's good or not. It did, however, give us official designs for Metal Tails and Metal Amy after all these years, and also it let me make this:
...Okay, enough beating around the bush. Let's talk about the thing that REALLY drags down the experience.
The soundtrack...
(This lengthy section on the music will feature some light spoilers for things like zone names and themes.)
Now, don't get me wrong. There are some bangers in here that I've been listening to on loop. But this is one of the most inconsistent soundtracks I've ever heard, and I'm not sure I've ever played another game where the music has such a sharp dip in quality in the back half.
As anyone following this blog knows, prior to release I was a little obsessed with trying to gauge what the soundtrack would be like. "Jun Senoue" and "new Classic Sonic game" naturally evokes the memory of Sonic 4, but from the start we knew Tee Lopes was involved as well, and almost all of the music previewed before released leans more towards the sound of Sonic Mania than anything else. I was hopeful! I was excited! Jun deserved another chance at doing another classic Sonic OST, and Tee is one of my favorite game composers of all time between his Sonic material and other works like the TMNT: Shredder's Revenge OST. I frequently thought back to this Sonic 4 remix medley by Jun and Tee as a reminder that these two could really be the dream team, bringing out the best in each other's work.
Sure enough, the front half of the game is largely dominated by the Mania sound, whether it's a track by Tee himself or one by an in-house Sega artist that's compatible with his style. Pinball Carnival Act 1 by Rintaro Soma (an up-and-coming composer who wrote a bunch of the Cyber Space themes in Frontiers) takes obvious inspiration from Mania's Studiopolis Act 1, to the point that I was shocked when Sega posted the track and revealed it wasn't written by Tee. Act 2, however, forges more of its own sound by leaning into the act's spooky haunted carnival theme. And despite being the music lead, the only level theme that I know for sure was written by Senoue in the front half of the game (Bridge Island Act 1) was actually arranged by Tee Lopes to give it more of that Mania sound. Hell, the level clear jingle is literally just the one from Mania. A few level themes by other composers don't quite match that style, but they fit in well enough.
But there are early signs that this sound won't be consistent throughout the game. Our first warning of things to come is the boss music:
youtube
When early copies started floating around and the soundtrack leaked, many, many people hoped that this was merely a placeholder, like the literal Sonic 4 Episode II music used in the earliest previews of Speed Jungle, and that it'd get replaced with a day one patch. Oh, those poor, innocent fools...
Even if you don't mind the poor production with the returning Sonic 4 faux-Genesis sound, this is a very simplistic thirteen second snippet of music that then plays a second time in a higher key before it loops. This wouldn't be the end of the world if the bosses were as short as the ones in the Genesis games, of course, but they're not! This theme is used for a ton of lengthy fights throughout the game, including an EXTREMELY long and tedious autoscroller boss at the end of Golden Capital Act 2. Maybe I would've enjoyed the bosses in this game more if they were paired with some earworms that'd get me hyped up and sell how cool and exciting the fights are supposed to be, but grating songs like this just made the minutes spent fighting those bosses feel like an eternity.
Still, boss music (and menu music) aside, all of the level themes in the front half of the game ranged from decent to great, with the peak easily being the phenomenal Lagoon City Act 2 by Tee Lopes. And then... I got to the back half of the game. And the Mania style completely disappeared, replaced largely with the dreaded Sonic 4 sound. That isn't the style for EVERY song in the back half, but even the ones that try something different tend to be weaker than the material from the first six zones, with less engaging melodies and less intricate arrangement. Many sound straight up unfinished, leaning on extremely basic synth patches with no personality. And there isn't a single track from Tee in the back half. He just disappears from the project altogether.
What this means is that we go from this absolute banger by Tee Lopes in zone 6, which elevates what's otherwise a bog standard desert level to a thrilling adventure:
youtube
To... this, in zone 7:
youtube
It's EXTREMELY jarring!
The thing is, this is actually one of the better tracks in this style. I have to assume this is by Senoue, because you can totally hear a good Adventure or Heroes era Senoue track in there once you get past the crude synth replication of the Genesis era Sonic sound. Senoue is still a great composer, as you can hear clear as day with Bridge Island, but he's working with a restrictive sound palette that doesn't play to his strengths at all. If only he'd bust out that damn guitar, or at least pick some better synths.
(And no matter what people will tell you, no, this is not an accurate recreation of what the Genesis's YM2612 chip really sounded like, nor is it representative of what it CAN sound like at its best. Go back to the Streets of Rage 2 or Ristar soundtracks if you need a reminder.)
While I can at least see what the Press Factory tracks were aiming for, some other faux-FM synth tracks are just really bland. They don't have anything interesting going on, and they also don't seem particularly tailor made for the levels they accompany. They're just attempts to mimic what Sonic 1-3 sounded like on a very literal level. Take, for instance, the Golden Capital Act 1 theme, AKA "we've got Sky Sanctuary at home." While the better level themes in this game enhance the mood or even completely carry the vibes of a level, the weaker tracks can really suck all the air out of the room and make a level feel like more of a slog.
What kills me is that there are, in fact, a couple examples of how to do throwbacks to classic Sega FM synth music well on this very soundtrack! They're just not the Sonic 4 type tracks. I love the Frozen Base Act 2 theme, presumably composed by legendary Sega composer Hiroshi "HIRO" Kawaguchi, who's responsible for all-time classic arcade soundtracks like Fantasy Zone, Out Run, Hang-On, After Burner, and more, as well as the hacking and pinball themes from Frontiers. Maybe to an untrained ear this doesn't sound all that different, but it has a catchier tune, better instruments, and stronger production overall. I'm also a fan of the track for Sky Temple, which isn't perfect, but it blends a few Genesis-esque instruments like the Sonic 1+2 snare with other instruments for a richer sound. If the whole soundtrack sounded more like these examples, I'd definitely be complaining less.
I really just have to wonder... how did this happen? How did this end up being so inconsistent? Many fans on social media are jumping to the conclusion that Senoue is just extremely stubborn and refuses to ditch the style from Sonic 4. I can't deny this possibility, but some things just don't add up. The almost complete lack of "retro" style music in the promotional material. The fact that the style just suddenly shifts halfway through the game, then disappears for the final zone, as if that's not the note they want to end on. The complete lack of any tracks by Tee Lopes in the back half. The focus on the Mania-style tracks in the bonus "mini soundtrack." And most perplexing of all, the fact that three of the first tracks you hear in the game were Senoue compositions that were given extra attention with arrangements from Tee Lopes.
This is pure speculation on my part, but it almost seems like they straight up ran out of time.
Perhaps Jun wanted more of his tracks to get full arrangements from Tee, or for Tee to contribute more songs, but things were down to the wire and they chose to leave in some of the raw Sonic 4 style demos. The soundtrack being crunched out in a matter of months at the end of development would certainly explain why Speed Jungle had to be demoed without its music a mere four months ago. It'd also explain why a game that's only a few hours long needs NINETEEN composers listed in the credits. And also the fact that multiple zones just have completely different, unrelated music by different artists across their acts. Did they need multiple artists working on different acts simultaneously, completely independent from each other with no time to cross reference each others' work, due to extreme time constraints? I'd buy it.
Ah well. It's not the end of the world. I've heard worse Sonic music. But I'll always think of what could have been...
At least the final battle with Eggman at the end of Story Mode has a pretty kickass boss theme, which ALMOST makes up for how bad most of the preceding boss music is (and the fact that that very difficult fight doesn't have a checkpoint between phases and took me like an hour to beat lmao). It even seems like it might be written by longtime Phantasy Star Online composer and recurring Sonic contributor Hideaki Kobayashi. That's the guy who wrote NONAGRESSION!!!!!!!
The postgame
Speaking of beating Eggman! It turns out Superstars has a good deal of postgame content, as merely beating the last zone with all the Chaos Emeralds doesn't take you to the true final boss. In order to do that, you'll need to do something else.
Before we hit the big spoiler warning, I'm going to give any future players who are still reading a warning. If you value your sanity... don't force yourself to do all the postgame stuff. Don't make the mistakes I did. It's not worth it, and it may very well knock your personal score for the game down a couple points.

SPOILERS FOR THE STORY, UNLOCKABLES, AND THE POSTGAME BELOW THIS POINT
YOU'VE BEEN WARNED
----------------------------------------------------------------
The bonus scenario
Sonic Superstars has a big surprise in store for anyone who beats the main story. For the first time since... what, Silver? In 2006? We finally have a brand new playable character in a new Sonic platformer! (I wouldn't count the player avatar in Forces as a full-fledged New Character.) Yes, after the credits roll, you unlock Trip as the super-secret fifth playable character. I was really excited to see this. Trip is cute, even if her masked appearance from early in the game is perhaps a more unique design than a Sonic-ified lizard girl who can only vaguely look like a real sungazer lizard. She IS the first new Sonic character Ohshima has designed since the '90s, though, so she gets points for that - and she gets even more points for literally turning into a dragon when she goes Super. We love a girl who can turn into a dragon, don't we folks? And her playstyle is fun, too, with a double jump and the ability to roll along walls and ceilings.
But Trip isn't just playable. Like Knuckles before her, she gets an entire alternate story mode of her own, which somewhat remixes the level layouts, generally makes things more challenging, and swaps out Eggman for Egg Robo. I was so excited to see this! It really felt like the game had so much more in store for me than I'd anticipated.
...Then I spent probably around three hours attempting to beat the new final battle with Fang at the end of Trip's Story. And it made me regret doing Trip's Story at all.
Once you learn the patterns, a lot of them are actually piss easy. But the difficulty comes down to a few misguided factors:
The fight is LOOOONG. On a successful attempt the whole thing will probably take the average player about, like... seven or eight minutes? Maybe longer? This is where I really started to get pissed at the game for making me wait through these stupid attack patterns before I could attempt to hit the boss once.
The fight is divided between two phases, one with Fang in a vehicle and another with him in a giant robot, with no checkpoint between them. Dying to one of Fang's bullshit attacks on the second phase means having to redo the ~5 minute first phase all over again. And, worst of all...
Fang has multiple projectile attacks that are guaranteed instant kills, even if you have rings.
Also there's a stupid desperation headbutt attack that can really easily catch you off guard and kill you, but I only got that far in the fight once.
It's the instant kills that got me. If those fucking immobilizing net attacks just made you drop your rings, or you could at least wiggle out of them by mashing buttons (EDIT: apparently you CAN do this but you literally have to button mash so rapidly that it's a crapshoot whether or not you'll physically be able to do it), it would have been totally doable! Kinda fun, even! Slow, but pretty cool in terms of spectacle. But nope! Three hours! Three hours on this! This is, without a doubt, the hardest boss I have ever faced in any Sonic game, period, and one of the hardest bosses I've ever seen in ANY game. All because of one attack pattern where making a tiny mistake means starting over.
The glitches didn't help, either. Something about the way the circular boss arena was set up in both stories' final battles seems to make the floor intangible sometimes for non-player objects. Occasionally my dropped rings, enemies I was supposed to knock towards Fang, or one of Fang's insta-kill projectiles would just fall through the floor randomly. This definitely wasn't my main problem, but it helped drive home the idea that this fight just wasn't worth my time.
After three hours of attempts, I gave up. I just went and looked up the ending of Trip's story, as well as the contents of the Final Story, on YouTube. Turns out I made the right call, because boy, that true final boss looks like dogshit. It's just a very dull fight against a big generic cartoon dragon. Apparently this is the thing Eggman was looking for. It appears and is defeated with little fanfare. I think I liked it better when I assumed the scary dragon being foreshadowed was just Super Trip.
...Also, hey, what's up with The End being very conspicuously visible in the background of the last zone?? I know it's just a cheeky cameo, but, like... isn't it supposed to be sealed away in Cyber Space right now? Should I be taking this literally? Does this have lore implications? This is one hell of a way to remind people that the timeline's been reunified, I guess
Closing thoughts
I really hate to part ways with Superstars on a sour note like this, because like I said up top, I mostly enjoyed my time with it! It's really just a small handful of particularly frustrating bosses and the inconsistent soundtrack that drag it down. Other than that, it's solid as a rock. Maybe wait for sales if you're not dying to play it, but it's definitely worth playing for any Sonic fan. Just... skip the true ending. I would have stepped away MUCH happier with this game if I'd done that.
I wanna try to end this on a more positive note but I'm tired, so, uhhhh... look, you can unlock a Metal Nights skin for your Battle Mode bot!!
Anyway back to jamming to about half the soundtrack on loop while pretending the other half doesn't exist, and looking forward to the continued Fang Renaissance with his upcoming IDW miniseries

Spooky Season 2024: 12-22
Phantom of the Mall: Eric's Revenge (dir. Richard Friedman, 1989)
The opening of the new mall is hampered by one thing: a Phantom hiding in the air vents, and committing robbery and murder. It turns out this Phantom is really a teenager named Eric (Derek Rydall) disfigured in a fire set by the mall's developers to clear out any remaining houses impeding their dreams of commercial development. Now, Eric plans on having his revenge and watching over his girlfriend Melody (Kari Whitman), now an employee of the mall. But what will he make of her burgeoning romance with a journalist?
Talk about pure '80s cheese. This film feels like it was made to capitalize on the slasher cycle and the popularity of the Andrew Lloyd Weber Phantom of the Opera megamusical. It's not a particularly good movie, but it is dumb fun. I love how this Phantom makes free use of the goods available in the stores and how he spams his spin kick attack like he's in a video game.
Also, Pauly Shore is in this. He has a great scene talking about subliminal messaging in department stores, but is otherwise the usual Pauly Shore.
Hangover Square (dir. John Brahm, 1945)
Musician George Harvey Bone (Laird Cregar) is disturbed by long sessions in which he blacks out. He fears he may be committing murder, but is reassured by the police when he goes to them that isn't likely. Detective Dr. Allen Middleton (George Saunders) advises the overworked George take a break from composing. George does so by going to a pub where he meets the lovely Netta Longdon (Linda Darnell), a music hall entertainer who dreams of fame. George and Netta enter into a toxic relationship in which she uses him to advance her career while seeing other men on the side. When George discovers her treachery, his blackouts return-- this time in a far more violent form.
I'm starting to become fascinated by John Brahm, a director best remembered for his moody, macabre dramas in the 1940s. Hangover Square was his second and final collaboration with the talented but doomed Laird Cregar, who died two months before the film was released. It's as much a noir as a horror picture, drenched in that chiaroscuro lighting and urban dread so common to the classic cycle.
Cregar is astonishing in the lead role. Though handsome, he was a bigger man, so Hollywood refused to allow him to transition into leading man parts. He is marvelous here, passionate and sensitive, yet also sinister once his jealous rage takes over. I've seen Cregar in multiple films and he was truly fantastic, able to be comic as well as dramatic. Hollywood didn't deserve him.
Lastly, Linda Darnell's character sings this really catchy song when Cregar first sees her. I saw this film weeks ago but it is STILL STUCK IN MY HEAD.

The Sealed Room (dir. DW Griffith, 1909)
In some nondescript time period (everyone's dressed like it's either the early 18th century or the middle ages), a king (Arthur V. Johnson) learns his mistress (Marion Leonard) is smooching with a musician (Henry B. Walthall). Jealous to the point of rage, he has the couple sealed in a small room where they suffocate to death.
The Sealed Room is a gem from the nickelodeon era, though I admit my liking for it comes from how extra all the performances are, even by the standards of the early silent period.
It also has one of my favorite instances of what I like to call "silent film logic"-- that is, scenes featuring action that would be very loud in real life, but in a silent film, you may not think about it as much. Here, the king has the lovers walled up alive in a small room, where they lounge unaware. And yet, there's workers slapping up a brick wall not ten feet away from them! It's very amusing.
Frankenhooker (dir. Frank Henenlotter, 1990)
When his girlfriend Elizabeth (Patty Mullen) gets hacked to death by an automatic lawnmower he built, medical student Jeffrey (James Lorinz) decides to resurrect her by killing sex workers for their shapely body parts then sewing Elizabeth's severed head on top. He does this by having his victims smoke explosive crack.
No, I'm not making this up.
I first heard about Frankenhooker from James Rolfe of Angry Video Game Nerd fame. It sounded so insane that I knew I had to watch it. It's-- well, it's definitely a bizarre movie with lots of crude humor and pitch black jokes.
Would you believe me if I said it was kind of an unsung feminist work? I definitely did not expect THAT angle coming in, but that messaging is definitely there. Jeffrey is a villain-protagonist through and through, even before he starts committing murder. We learn he was already demanding Elizabeth modify her appearance to suit his tastes before she got killed. He views women as more a collection of body parts than proper people. However, his misogyny does catch up with him in the end and his fate at the resurrected Elizabeth's hands is the very definition of irony. I don't want to spoil it.
It's definitely not for everyone, but if you have a sick sense of humor and some friends that share that humor, you'll have a good time.
Friday the 13th: Part 2 (dir. Steve Miner, 1981)
A summer camp close to the infamous Camp Crystal Lake is about to open. Little do the young, horny counselors know, Jason (Warrington Gillette and Steve Daskewicz)-- the boy that allegedly drowned long ago-- is still alive and he's mad his mama got decapitated in the previous film. Lots of people die.
I confess I have a hard time getting into these Friday the 13th films. I've read it took a few entries for the series to find its footing as gloriously dumb schlock, but the first one and this sequel were mostly boring for me. About all I liked was the last twenty minutes, when the heroine's background in child psychology comes into play. Otherwise, this gets a big meh from me. Not horrible, but nothing I can imagine I'll ever rewatch.
Corridor of Mirrors (dir. Terence Young, 1948)
A party girl (Edana Romney) becomes involved with a Renaissance era-obessed artist (Eric Portman). Their fetishistic relationship leads to heartbreak and murder.
Already discussed this one is great detail at my Wordpress blog. It's a great romantic thriller in the vein of Vertigo and Rebecca.
The Old Dark House (dir. James Whale, 1932)
During a thunderstorm, a group of unwary British travelers are marooned at the crumbling mansion of the Femm family, a collection of eccentrics who may be insane. Everything goes wrong: the hulking butler gets drunk and preys on the women visitors, the area may flood, the lights go out, and there may be a homicidal maniac imprisoned in one of the rooms upstairs. Will anyone survive the night?
I have raved about this film for a long time now. It's truly a favorite of mine in general, not just for the Halloween season. Both witty and chilling, it's an atmospheric masterpiece. The damp and mold are palpable.
What fascinates me most is the Femm family itself and the gaps in their backstory. This is one movie where I feel like there's a Tolstoyan novel's worth of drama with the Femms. It's hinted that the 102-year-old patriarch of the house (played in drag by actress Elspeth Dudgeon) used to host orgies there. The death of the seductive sister Rebecca at the age of 21 may or may not have been due to inter-family foul play. Morgan the butler has a close, even weirdly tender relationship with the homicidally insane brother Saul, suggesting a myriad of possible connections between them. It's very interesting-- I like that the movie doesn't fill in all the blanks.
A Game of Death (dir. Robert Wise, 1945)
Don Rainsford (John Loder), big game hunter extraordinaire, finds himself shipwrecked on a mysterious island. The owner is Erich Kriegler (Edgar Barrier), an urbane German who also enjoys hunting, though with a slight difference-- he likes hunting humans. Teaming up with other shipwreck survivors Ellen (Audrey Long) and Robert (Russell Wade), Don tries finding a way to escape before they become Kriegler's next wall trophies.
This movie is a pallid, watered down, shot-for-shot remake of The Most Dangerous Game, one of the crown jewels of 1930s horror, so of course, I am not fond of it. And yet, I rewatch it every few years, so it must have something going for it. So instead of tearing into it as I normally do, I'll list a few things I think are actually good about it:
I like that the main character initially tries tricking Kriegler into thinking he will hunt people with him. Very pro-active.
I think Kriegler is a good villain. Not as memorably deranged and campy as Leslie Banks' Zaroff in the original film, but chilling in a more low-key way. His "the strong deserve to prey upon the weak" philosophy fits in nicely with Nazi ideologies-- no doubt what this wartime horror flick intended.
Um... I think Audrey Long is really pretty. I like her flow-y outfits.
... Yeah, that's it.
The Most Dangerous Game (dir. Ernest B. Schoedsack and Irving Pichel, 1932)
All-American big game hunter Bob Rainsford (Joel McCrea) is shipwrecked on the unlisted island of Count Zaroff (Leslie Banks), a Russian aristocrat and master sportsman who claims he now hunts "the most dangerous game" of all. Being a himbo, it takes Bob a while before he realizes that game is human beings. Unwilling to hunt alongside Zaroff when given the offer, Rainsford and fellow prisoner Eve Trowbridge (Fay Wray) wage a game with Zaroff: let loose into the island's thick jungle, if they survive the night without Zaroff or the terrain killing them, they'll go free. If not, Rainsford dies and Eve will become a rather different kind of quarry for the evil count.
Now, here's my favorite "hunter hunts people" movie! While "The Most Dangerous Game" has been adapted and ripped off multiple times for a century, the original is still hard to beat. The castle set drips with gothic grandeur. The jungle soundstage is thick and suffocating, and once the chase intensifies, it becomes like something out of a nightmare.
I actually think the climactic hunt is among the greatest sequences in all cinema. The editing is so dynamic and the images are brilliant. And when you consider this is still an early talkie, when films were still trying to rediscover their footing after silent cinema came to an end, it becomes even more remarkable.
Going on Letterboxd, I was shocked to find a lot of people on there have mixed to negative opinions about this movie, largely because they think it's too over the top and that it's messaging is too on the nose.
I mean-- yes, these things are true, but I don't see them as flaws. It probably helps that I love camp and melodrama, and am not ashamed to admit it. And regardless of the fervent camp on display, I still think the trophy room scene is creepy and the chase is super intense. I have probably seen this movie close to a hundred times and yet, the chase still has me shouting at the TV, willing the characters to run faster. That's damn fine filmmaking.
The Haunting (dir. Robert Wise, 1963)
A researcher of the paranormal brings a motley crew of ordinary people into the allegedly haunted Hill House. Both potential ghosts and the neuroses of the visitors bring on sinister events and ultimately tragedy.
I love this movie more and more. I already wrote a bit about my reaction this time around, though since then, I started rereading the source novel, Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House. Obviously, the book delves more deeply into Eleanor's psyche, but the film does a fantastic job of this as well. Given film is a visual medium, it can be a challenge to depict a character's interior state without delving into expressionism and this film does that well.
The Phantom of the Opera (dir. Terence Fisher, 1962)
Aspiring songstress Christine Charles (Heather Sears) and producer Harry Hunter (Edward de Souza) are drawn into a mystery at the London Opera House. A phantom is sabotaging any attempt to produce Joan of Arc: A Tragedy, a show allegedly written by the cold, snobby, rapey Lord Ambrose (Michael Gough). After some investigating, it turns out the Phantom (Herbert Lom) was once the meek-mannered Professor Petrie, whose music was stolen by Ambrose. Now, he wants only to see his opera done justice and only Christine's voice can make that happen.
I am very fond of this version of The Phantom of the Opera even though I think it has a myriad of dramatic flaws. Let's get the flaws out the way first. I think the film is a bit repetitive in retelling us Petrie's story over and over, at first through onscreen description and then through filmed depiction. I also think the ending is anti-climactic, like the writers didn't want to go the usual route of making the Phantom a homicidal maniac but they weren't sure how to make a properly dramatic finish without that characterization.
That out the way, this is a unique, even refreshing retelling in many ways. The Phantom/Christine relationship is no longer one of unrequited love-- in fact, Petrie seems wholly uninterested in romance or sex at all. He views Christine and himself as victims of the truly despicable Lord Ambrose: Petrie had his music stolen and Christine was sexually harrassed. Therefore, it is up to the two of them to wrest the opera back from Amrbose's influence and make it the production Petrie wanted. Petrie is one hard taskmaster. He is relentless in training Christine and at one point throws filthy sewer-water in her face when she faints.
But the Phantom is hardly an out and out villain here. He doesn't even kill people-- he has a convenient hunchbacked assistant to do that. No, the real baddie is Ambrose, among the nastiest villains in the Hammer canon. Ambrose never even kills anyone, yet he makes the blood boil with his wanton cruelty. Michael Gough (who I always remember best as Alfred in the Tim Burton Batman movies, as well as Batman Forever and Batman and Robin) is so good at being bad.
This version of POTO also has my favorite version of the Phantom's compositions. Usually, he writes a "burning" piece called Don Juan Triumphant, fitting his romantic obsession with Christine. Here, Petrie writes an opera about Joan of Arc, a virginal saint persecuted by powerful men-- a fitting subject for Petrie given his own persecution by an aristocrat. Joan's aria "I Hear Your Voice" is gorgeous and always brings me to tears, it's that beautiful.
Not a perfect film, but still a very good one.

So it's time for my "alt-right dudebro gamer" Dragon Age opinions.
(Note: I'm a 45 year old womanesque queer person who mostly plays indie and Japanese games.)
(To further my cred I was super excited to meet and hear Karen and Patrick Weekes talk about this game in development at Havencon a couple years ago...it's a small queer con in Austin.)
Dragon Age is my all-time favorite game series. I adored Inquisition, though DA2 has my favorite characters overall.
My opinions about the gameplay reveal are:
The environments and background graphics and effects look awesome.
The character design still bugs me quite a bit. The faces, ESPECIALLY the female faces look Disney/anime/Overwatchy in structure. The textures looks a lot better in game than in that trailer. I miss my Not Particularly Pretty Female Characters. They have sameface now.
There's something off in the lip syncing. Mouth animations looks weird. I can't define it more than that but I noticed it with multiple characters and it through me out.
Varric's hair annoys me SO MUCH. Someone pointed out he looks like Blackwall and now I CANNOT UNSEE.
The structure of the game/quests/whatever looks fine, this reminds me of all the moments running around Haven at the beginning of Inquisition. Some of my least favorite moments, but yanno.
The combat. I'm very worried about the combat.
I am 45 years old and I have arthritis in my hands from gaming and knitting. I gave up knitting to keep gaming. I cannot play some action games. Like Hades, I tried but simply couldn't continue more than an hour because of the pain. And that's with my hands in good shape these days.
Some action games I can play, but only on easy, and sometimes only if I limit my playtime. This is simply a reality I've had to get used to, but it does kill me sometimes.
Do you know how enjoyable it was to pick up Baldur's Gate 3 and be able to put it on a higher difficulty, to be able to actually struggle through combats and have to use tricks and my brain and try and fail and do it again, all without worrying about my hands? Makes me think I need to replay Origins again.
So I'm concerned. The combat in this game is focused on attack type, dodging, parrying, countering (according to bioware)....all stuff that requires quick and frequent button mashing, which is what I can't do. So I'm looking at a game that I can probably only play on easy and maybe even not then? In my favorite game series.
The question we don't really know is how different it will be from Inquisition, and I find it hard to tell from the footage since we can't see what buttons are being pressed. But I'll say that while I love it, Inquisition was the game that first hurt my hands. It made me aware of the problem and made me have to start limiting my activity.
IDK . I just hate the idea that devs have that turn based games can't do well and are inherently not exciting.
Fucking Solas motherfucking killed Bianca! That was the first time in these reveals I've been 100% reacting as a fan. NOT BIANCA!!!! HE MUST DIE!
Oh I did like the Rook in the gameplay and his face looked good. Again I feel like it's the character design and not the engine that is the problem.
As for the plot, it's interesting that Solas has gone from Main Antagonist to Opening Antagonist and I wonder if he's actually going to transition to an ally later in the game to undo whatever the fuck has gone wrong in this clip.
I do still have some worries about the writing. "She's greatest detective ever and she has a lead on Solas." So do you think that lead is the giant glowing thing in the middle of the city spitting out demons? Did you need a great detective?
And basically nothing I've seen so far has super MOVED me, as someone with serious connections to this world and the characters, other than the fucking Bianca moment. I'm hesitantly curious about some of the new companions. And if the griffon thing had come at a moment other than me going WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS? in the trailer I may have been a lot more excited.
So yeah, call me a hater or whatever. But that trailer reveal CRUSHED me emotionally. I was so depressed the rest of the day Sunday. These are my true reactions to the gameplay footage today. I don't have an agenda, other than I want the game to be good and I want it to do well and my confidence in EA and Bioware is at a very low point.
I've tried to keep a realistic mindset this whole time, but keeping in mind HOW MANY PEOPLE have left Bioware, how few OGs are left, the constant turnover in leads, the game being scrapped and redone like twice from scratch. And the game industry as a whole at this time, I have to be somewhat skeptical in general.
I'm not a skeptic overall, I was both a Cyperpunk 2077 enjoyer (but not apologist) and a Starfield defender and frankly there was a lot less reason to be skeptical of those games before release. So am I going to say "well I've been a Bioware fan since KOTOR 1 released, so I'm gonna hype it up and not point out flaws I see?" No. I'm going to be honest.
I'm not a casual Dragon Age enjoyer. I can't react casually to this stuff.
Will I play the game? Almost definitely, but am I going to wait till the release reviews? Probably.

THE NEW UPDATE
Just got back from a trip and guess what, Sylus has the entire LnDs Nation in a chokehold, and I kinda knew this was gonna happen, so buckle up this is gonna be a long one.
First things first, He is SO HOTTTTTTTTTT!
Mannnn, when he was first revealed a couple of weeks ago, I had already posted about how he might surpass others to be my top, and guess what, I was not wrong, he is already making me doubt my loyalty to Zayne when he hasn't even debuted yet, but hey it's just a game so I'll be fine.
Second thing that I noticed in his trailers and the 2.0 preview livestream was that they did reveal his certain characteristics.
He is definitely 'Hard on the outside, soft on the inside' kind of guy. This conclusion was made with what the Kitty Cat told us about him when he was out in N109 Zone collecting information and how Sylus placed him softly on the ground after picking him off from top of a building and telling him its no place for soft Cats like him, and then he was seen walking past a flower when he could have easily stepped on it like some other Bad Guys like to do, but he didn't, someone (I don't know who exactly, I might have reblogged their post) even mentioned that the flower kind of reflected MC and how Sylus might just make her have an insight into his lifestyle rather then just killing her after she was captured the the last chapter.
Other thing that I noticed was that his Evol might not be Blood, instead it's Energy Manipulation or something like that, which could be a possibility as he is a leader of an organization that focus on Protocores, I'm still not sure, guess we'll have to wait to see what is it exactly.
He also might be the only LI as of now who is an actual combatant apart from Xavier, i.e., he has actual combat skills, maybe because of his position and surroundings. Like I know we can choose our companions during battle but when it comes to Main Story thing, not all LIs are fit for fighting skills, Xavier has to be the best combatant of them all due to his job, and now I can say the same for Sylus as well, if not, he can be better than Xavier as well, specially how he is the only one who is actually teaching the MC how to fight in his memories.
Apart from that, he also can cook, has a thing for singing (his karaoke 4-Star memory reference, if you might have noticed), and can and does ride Bikes, but despite that he is a walking Red flag, but I don't blame him, and would still love him if it came to that.
One thing I noticed in LnDs, which is also my favorite thing about them is the Detailing, so of course Sylus has his own as well. When I first saw him in his preview from a couple of weeks ago, I kind of thought that he looked similar to Zayne but that's not the case, maybe it was the lighting and angles that made me think that, but not anymore. I think that the LIs are made to look the way their characters are, like when I first saw Xavier in an AD, I immediately thought of a high class individual or a bodyguard with a soft side who is also jealous of whom you meet and talk to or something like that, and Zayne seemed like a Cold beauty, and it did turned to be similar to that when I started playing the game, So yes I'm gonna analyze Sylus as well (It might not be 100% true cause I'm just making assumptions which could be true).
Unlike Zayne who has a cold yet soft looks similar to his character (As he is the closest to Sylus in terms of looks and characters I'll take him for comparison), Sylus has more of 'Rough on the edge' looks, someone who has a Bad, Traumatic and Rough childhood. He seemed like the guy who didn't wanted to be here but had no choice as well, and that doesn't mean he's innocent, he has his fair share of crimes and evil doings, and would gladly take the wrong thing into consideration if it gives him his desired results.
HE WEARS A F*CKING CHOKER!!!!!!
AND IS DOMINET AS HELL, I CAN FEEL IT!!!!!!
With the showcase of his pair memories, I doubt he was with the MC in any other timeline because unlike any other boy, his pair seemed to be a part of the present timeline, and I think he is suppose to be the Bad Guy for this timeline, or he could be the bad guy for other LIs who didn't let him meet the MC in any other timeline.
Other thing that I noticed about him is that he is very much self dependent person, whether you talk about his cooking skills, his combat skills, etc. Like he does have a chef doing his food, but he could very much cook himself as well, unlike someone, *Coughs* Xavier (That prince treatment did that to you I see) *Cough*, which makes me think he has spent most of his early life alone, or maybe his entire life alone in general, and didn't have much help from others either. This also tells us that he instead trusts himself rather than others to do his work, except when he can't, maybe because he couldn't trust many people in his line of work.
OR this all could just be a hobby as well...
The 'Mechanical Crow' thing tells me that maybe he could be a good Mechanic as well, if you know what I mean, like he could have just designed and created that himself as well, and is interested in designing and creating, like come on he is the leader of Onychinus, he is a Modern Technology guy. I can see him working on his Bike every now or then.
And of course, he is a top priority target for UNICRONS.
That's what I noticed for now, so keeping his character aside for now, let's talk about the new features.
I didn't understand much about the wish system, like are we suppose to use normal wishes only cause I don't have much and enough diamonds to buy those, I bought the special ones instead cause I though that would be the one we'll have to use.
New battle system is a great feature for F2Ps like me, though I did not understand much of it as well and still do not have my memories enough ranked up yet.
How are some people already done with their Orbital when I'm here stuck on 50 or something of every orbit for past month? I'm not even halfway there.
I'm glad we'll get Sylus's first 5-Star pair and 4-Star pair in the permanent wish pool, which would gladly be his two Primary dominant colors.
You know what, I did not understand much of anything the new 2.0 version would be bringing to us, I'll just have to wait and see it for myself to get a hold of it.
ANNNNNNDDDDD, we are getting branches for every LI starting this Sept., which is an exciting part as well cause I almost thought we wouldn't have that system here. I still don't understand why Sylus was not included there, maybe because he would be a recent addition.
And Last but not the least, the letter in the end made me tear up. This shows just how much effort and time they put into the game and that they do care about us, The Players. I just wanna give a piece of my mind to the person responsible for Sylus's leak. Thank the lord I didn't see anything other than the one actually uploaded on the official channel. It must be very hard to give that level of production, not to mention they have a reputation to maintain as the world's first 3-D Otome Game, so it must have been really upsetting that someone ruined their upcoming surprise project like that when they might not even had any part in it.
When the last review mail was up I gave them 1-Star in every category because of how frustrated I was of not pulling much from any limited banner at that time because as an F2P, I literally harvest the diamond so I'm very careful about spending them so getting nothing in return took a troll on me. So if a review mail is up again in this next update, I'll gladly give them 5-Star everywhere possible, considering they did took the advice of F2Ps like us well, and it's not just that but this new update would give me an opportunity to earn diamonds a little bit easily.
And it's not like I don't want to spend, it's just I can't spend now as I'm focused on some real life resources which are really important for me, not to mention the game is really expensive. So in future if I do get a chance, I'll gladly spend some.
That's all for now. Feel free to share your thoughts on Sylus, and this new update as well in the comment section, I'll love to discuss.
(Tumblr pulled a B*tch, and didn't save my earlier draft resulting in me doing this entire thing again, took me a day to recall, might have missed some points but that okay.)

so x-men 97 ended a month or so ago, I just finished last week and wanted to compose my thoughts.
the Bad
the soap opera level nature of the show is back and I get why it's there, but damn I was sick of the relationship drama when I was a kid, now that I'm 30 and don't care about any of the pairings in the show it's even more annoying. Except Romy, I love them, but could have done without a second love triangle.
Roberto's character felt weird and should have either been cut or been more involved with the X-Men as the new guy. He only really interacts with Jubilee because they intended to make them a couple from the start. There were better ways without just making them a couple or projecting it so hard.
I think 2 episodes were bad, ep 4 and ep 6. I personally don't care for the Shia'r or Prof X. The Jubilee stuff was fine but felt like filler which isn't really needed for a 10 ep show. And I don't think Storm's story was done justice.
Storm was underused. She's my favorite character and had a story about being depowered and getting them back that I thought started strong but didn't live up to the hype. Then despite coming back she doesn't have much plot significance and is just a powerful member of the team. Maybe season 2 will change that and I'm jumping the gun, but it felt like a waste. '
Morph was cool and I'm happy they are nonbinary in this show despite the writers keeping it in the 90's timezone. Not a huge fan of their character still though, I thought they were more cool with their powers than interesting as a character. Hopefully that will change in season 2
Magneto's plan by the end made no sense to me by the end. I know he was angry and pushed too far once more, but killing 7 billion people, mutants included. Yeah he made an offer to the x-men, but there are still hundreds of mutants that survived Genosha and he's putting a target on their back and they will also die without power. and he has 3 people in an asteroid above earth, what is the plan for things to continue
Also Bastion's plan was good, but I don't agree with the whole, people's response to tragedy that they don't care about is apathy. it's a hard world, but people care far more than you might think. It felt poorly written, like the show wanted to make all humans monsters so that's what happened. If the plan was to destroy Genosha and then let Magneto do his thing to get people to hate mutants because of what he would do afterwards I would understand, but it wasn't.
The Good
Overall, the whole series is a good adaption of the 90's series, warts and all. The love triangle stuff is annoying, but part of the show so I accept it and even the dumb puns made me smile. But the fact that they aged it up worked amazing, they blended seamlessly to me.
The action and animation were perfect to me, crisp and clear and dynamic. It let the characters show off what they could do in ways the 90's show and their restrictions wouldn't allow them to.
I liked most of the characters, Storm is my favorite character, Scott is my second, and Kurt is in my top 5. I mention that Storm kind of shafted, but Scott and Kurt were allowed to shine.
Kurt and Rogue's relationship was great, I'm glad that the writers remembered they were adopted siblings, I wondered after ep 5 if they did, but I also think calling each other sister or brother in the ep would have been awkward. The way they interact in later eps was perfect to me.
I like that people kept tell Xavier to shut up because I don't like him as a character. He has done so much shit and is still considered a hero in the comics, it makes him at best a naive fool and at worse the real villain of X-Men.
I like that Cyclops was so much more than the block of wood a lot of the fandom and even some writers make him out to be. He's a complex character and it's good to see that not only a deep character like he's supposed to be, but a good hero and leader.
I also like how the Cable stuff was done. like it's rocky and quick because they only have 10 eps but it was nice to see since Cable never revealed himself as Scott's son in the original show.
I love that the show wasn't just another version of the wolverine show. I like the character, but he's been over used and makes his appearances over saturated. He still had a presence in the show, but it doesn't make him the main character while shutting down other characters.
I will always love the family aspect of x-men, angry and fighting but loving all the same.
8 episodes of the show were great and I loved them, I would recommend it to anyone.
Ep 5 was the standout, and amazing. I loved how Gambit was portrayed as sympathetic and a good person with his relationship with Rogue and accepted that she wanted to be with Magneto. It was great to see him being allowed to be a badass as a swansong, even if I think he'll be death in season 2

Okay, I've been sitting on these thoughts for a couple of weeks, and I've been reading one of my favorite genre writing books today in preparation for a potential project, and they flashed to the surface again. And I just can't resist anymore, sorry.
I saw a post a bit ago that seemed to angrily indicate that telling writers that they need a plot summary/logline/advertising text that goes beyond a list of tropes was somehow ... ableist? discriminatory against marginalized writers? some kind of elitist bullshit? I don't know, but I could hear the whizzing air of a point sailing over someone's head as I read it and it irritated me.
So, okay, let's go over why I think that's a load of crap.
You have a book or a fic or a story of some sort. When I ask you what it's about, you tell me "bisexuals in space, enemies to lovers!" If we're talking about a fanfic, okay, that's probably enough information to tell me if I want to read it - because I know the fandom, and therefore I have a pretty good idea of what else the story is going to entail. But if you're trying to sell me on your original story? I'm sure there are some people who would still jump on it, but I am really not one of them, and I venture to guess many, many other people are the same way.
Why? Here's a sampling of what your trope phrases do and do not tell me.
Okay, there are bisexual characters. And the fact that you reference enemies to lovers makes me think that we're talking about a romance. But that's not guaranteed! Is the story about the bisexuals falling in love? Is it a space adventure in which people incidentally fall in love? Does it not involve love or sex at all, just a bisexual character in a totally different story who happens to have sex with an enemy in a side plot?
Seriously, how does bisexuality or enemies or lovers factor into your plot?
If you're basing your advertising of your story on sexuality, what kind of society are you writing about? Is this a fun fantasy space setting where there's no discrimination based on who you want (or don't want) to have sex with? Or is this story going to include discrimination that parallels real-world problems? Those are two vastly different moods I have to be in to read a thing.
Overall, even if this is a romance, what's the sub-genre you're going with? Space opera? If it is, is it a ridiculous Jupiter Ascending world or a more gritty Expanse-style world? Is it hard sci-fi leaning? Is it actually a murder mystery set on a space station? Is it an action thriller set on a giant starship? Is it a cozy character study? Something totally different?
What do your characters want? A story in which your MC wants to become monarch of their homeworld is very different than one in which your MC is a smuggler trying to get out of legal trouble, and both are very different from an MC who is devoted to revenge against the person who killed their family.
What tone is your story? Again, if you're using tropes to advertise, my guess is it's somewhat lighthearted. But that's not guaranteed at all.
These are just the things I could think of in like 5 minutes. And maybe you don't care about any of these things, and you're happy to have an audience just of people who can read any kind of story any time as long as there are bisexuals in space. That's great! You found your audience! Have fun!
... but I'm betting that audience is very small, relatively speaking. And that you wouldn't be complaining about it if you didn't want a wider audience.
And implying that a reader or readers asking for something more than a list of tropes is somehow discriminatory against you, whatever marginalization you happen to have? That's insulting nonsense. Writing a story summary - be it for an Amazon page, the back of a book, the summary box on AO3, your website, whatever - is a skill that can be learned by anyone who can write a story long enough to require one. It's a different skill than writing the story, don't get me wrong, but it's a skill you can learn regardless.
By all means, put the tropes there too! Have them at the top or bottom of your summary! Put them on your website! I know romance authors who have search functions on their websites where you can filter by tropes! Those are great, but those authors also know that an individual story summary is also necessary! I can filter and say "I want to read hurt/comfort" but then I need to know what the fuck the story is about. Fanfic can be just about hurt/comfort and get its audience - BECAUSE people know the base fandom. Original fiction, not so much.
Anyway. That stuck under my skin, and now it's out. Hooray.

hello!!do you have skk fic recs?
Introduction
Yes, I do. I’m sorry it took so long to give you a reply, but I wanted to give you a comprehensive list and was busy preparing for my last day in high school, and then I got a job 12 hours later, and then I traveled to New York for a couple Broadway workshops. But now that today’s been dealt with, I have my wonderful notes.
So here’s the gist of it. I have three focused reviews on some of my favorite Soukoku fanfics ever, but I felt like copy pasting it would kill you a little, so I’m going to use a simplified format that echoes what I once did for two other ships years ago.
Canon Space
Here I compiled four fanfics that take place in main canon spaces (so not BEAST). While I encourage you to read, I also ask you to make sure to check the tags of the actual work for any possible triggers. Furthermore, the styles these characters are written in, and the way they are portrayed, vary from writer to writer. Some are more “canon” based than others, but they all carry the essence of this ship. And if they don’t in your eyes, then you’re just reading a great novel with Japanese names.
i'll bleed out for you by StarshipDancer
Synopsis: After getting impaled together, basically dying in each others arms in a joint mission with the Port Mafia and the ADA, and getting brought back by Yosano, this shattered Soukoku is asked to go into hiding. In this time, things seem to start healing. But the impending call asking them to return to their positions in their groups haunts them, and when it arrives, things fall apart all over again.
Tags: Caretaking, PTSD, A Singularly Important Rat Is Present, Canon-Divergence, Post-Port Mafia Days, Love Confession, Pet Co-Parenting, Angst
Word Count: 71,848
Notes: Rattata is the best character. I remember reading this fanfic between the airport and my flight, and when chapter four ended, I had to board the plane, with my shaking hands and quiet sniffles. Please read this one.
If you kiss me (I might let it happen) by encsiimomo
Synopsis: Chuuya’s done watching this. Dazai’s literally dating a new girl every week. He dates based on who asks him first that Monday, he breaks up with them that Sunday, and it goes on again. And again. And again. It’s driving him insane. So he does the only thing he can think of to earn himself a break – He asks to date him for that week’s cycle. Dazai’s surprised. Chuuya’s exhausted. But once the sparks fly, they’re unable to be put out.
Tags: Canon Divergent & Kind of Canon Compliant, Dark Era, Smut, Mutual Pining, Light Angst, Silly
Word Count: 52,127
Notes: I loved this fic because it encapsulates a pretty carefree tone that isn’t associated with Dark Era. It’s pretty smutty, but it’s really lovely to read them. It’s not a reflection of what these characters canonically represent. And while it definitely stays as a loose interpretation of these characters, it keeps the essence that makes this ship so sharp and wonderful. I loved Oda’s appearances too, they made me laugh.
A Doll's House by Abyss_In_WonderLand_likes_sexy_cannibals
Summary: After coming to contact with an ability-powered artifact, Dazai and Chuuya are forced to work together to overcome the ability’s trials, and face the bubbling sentiments they keep trying so hard to ignore.
Tags: Teamwork, Ability Loss, Poisoning, Denial of Feelings, Confessions, Light Angst
Word Count: 45,288
Notes: While definitely not a character study, this fic goes and shows how wonderfully warm a Double Black fanfic can be. You’ll giggle in some moments, be entranced in others, and it’s just fun. This is for those that aren’t scouring for the angst. This was the first fic that sunk me into a skk fanfiction hunt all throughout the winter holidays.
On Deathless Feet by AbsoluteNegation
Synopsis: Chuuya always knows the monster can get out of control, but it doesn’t get any less surprising when Arahabaki powers through him. For a while though, it’d been comforting to know Dazai could always reign it in, make it go quiet. Because he did when they recently met, when they rose through the ranks, and at the brink of their end. But after years of disconnection, and the consistent waves of betrayal, is Chuuya capable of trusting him? And is Dazai capable of letting him?
Tags: Caretaking, Controlling Arahabaki, Port Mafia, Post-Port Mafia, Mistrust, Non-Linear Storytelling
Word Count: 71,848
Notes: This story is just breathtaking. The writing style is incredibly vast and detailed, which may seem scary when described, but it flows so easily when you read it. You cannot negate AbsoluteNegation’s incredible skill. The story takes place in an event where Chuuya loses control of Arahabaki in a Post-Port Mafia Soukoku time. But because of its non-linear style, one gets to understand their past experiences with each other in a manner that contextualizes and weighs in the events of their reunion.
Fanon Spaces
Before I begin, I’d like to note that there are so many AUs in this fandom, that I had to really search for the canon ones in my list. So understand that if you want more of these, I DEFINITELY have more of these. Also, again, while I encourage you to read, I also ask you to make sure to check the tags of the actual work for any possible triggers.
I’ll crown your inner child with laurel by acuteguwu
Synopsis: Chuuya has worked in a Michelin Star restaurant. So he really has no place in losing this cooking competition. But a sudden newcomer, who seemingly has no previous experience in the field, seems to want to tell him his bechamel sauce isn’t ready. And really, who does he think he is?
Tags: Chef Competition AU, Character Study, Slow Burn, Chuuya Is A Blunt Perfectionist, Dazai Is A Culinary Genius
Words: 197,090
Notes: I read this in two days, and I finished by waking up at four in the morning to finish up before going to a drag queen brunch. So really, my experience was incredible. You get to really know these characters, who are very themselves, and it’s lovely. Please read, it’s so worth it.
music for our funeral by itotypes
Synopsis: Dazai has always been lost on what exactly he wants to be. Chuuya knows exactly what he wants. Working with such incredible differences proves to be a difficult challenge, ending in at least a little bit of violence multiple times, but they make it work. Because their music sounds beautiful. Because they’re better geniuses beside the other. And maybe because once it started, they can’t seem to process this journey can ever end.
Tags: No Smut, Angst, 70s, Musicians!AU, Drug Abuse, References to Child Neglect, Lowkey Pretty Violent, Emotional Cheating (w/ Main Ship)
Word Count: 67,723
Notes: Look, there’s a whole genre of Soukoku music AUs. And I could tell you to read the famous “still, still, still” by icedlightroast, or the even more famous “I Was Screaming Your Name Through The Radio” by ElectricSplatter. Which really, they’re both INCREDIBLE fics that I think you should read (IWSYNTTR literally inspired me to try and write music, which led me to do an album for a school project, so I’m not kidding when I say they’re life changing), but I also know that these are famous fanfics that you can find in almost any big skk reader thread. So disregarding the following recommendation, I try to give you fanfics I found through a long scrolling process.
Everything or Nothing by Wellthathappened (Cataclysmic_Calamity)
Synopsis: Chuuya has never been able to experience much. So when he meets Dazai on the night of orientation, he lets himself explore. So as lips sink into his, and as he lets himself be free, Dazai lets him know how unimportant he is by walking away when kids walk in on them. Cut to a month later, they’re paired as roommates, Chuuya’s gotten what Dazai insists is a douchey boyfriend, and Dazai Osamu has to recognize it wasn’t true. It wasn’t a night’s fluke. He really, definitely isn’t straight.
Tags: College AU, Pinning, Chronic Illness, Creation & References Of Illegal Panini Rings, Confessions, Miscommunication, Past Sexual Abuse, Bad Parenting, Cute Dates, Dazai’s Really Rich
Word Count: 264,937
Notes: I recognize I just put in my notes that there’s no major point in recommending these big fanfics, but I just read this because the person that introduced me into the fandom in the first place really loves this one. And it’s incredible. Worth every moment. I laughed a lot, and cried a lot. It’s those pieces of work that resound with you that keep you engaged. This one builds off of that.
Inseparable by milwritescausewhynot
Synopsis: Dazai and Chuuya have been joined to the hip since day one. But they’re not best friends. Or enemies. Or, worst of all, lovers. They are, however, great at pranking each other. Until one goes close to dangerous, and things begin getting complicated afterwards.
Tags: High School AU, Pranks, Light Angst, Denial, Pining, Confessions, Implied/Referenced Self-Harm, Crazy Kouyou, Childhood Friends, No Smut
Word Count: 107,804
Notes: I hadn’t saved this one in my compilation, but I couldn’t not find it. This fic is so charming, and I most enjoy how the characters move through the story. You can feel the way they're in-tuned from the get go. Definitely recommend.
In Conclusion
Again, I’m sorry for such a late response. I’m literally falling asleep right now but I felt too guilty leaving this for tomorrow morning. If you have any questions, notes, or looking for something specific for your reading, we can talk about it.
Anyways, thanks for asking! Hope you love them, and sorry for any mistakes

Hey, I know that i've already asked agood amount of hc but could you please make an hc for retsu, musashi, mumon, sukune and jun with an S/O that was almost killed by someone like their enemy or something (like a very graphic and bloody injuries that are basically exposing the bone or the whole body is basically fully bruised) but they get to the hospital and they are in a coma and they wake up after 3 to 6 months or so moments before their S/O is umpluged from the life support and everyone thought that they were basically dead.I would like to know about their thoughts, feelings and plans after they thought they were going to lose their S/O and their plans for the future, also what they would do the person and how would they react to their S/O coming back and some aftermate.
Thanks for having the patience to deal with so many asks.
Heres a kiss for my FWACCOF(Favorite Writer And Content Creator Of Tumblr)
P.S.(I know that this kind of reads "fuck off" but I liked the acronym so I'll let it stay)
Hope you have a nice second/minute/hour/day/week/month/year/life/eternety.
Situation: Baki's men's train of thought when an enemy attacks their S/O. / Tren de pensamiento de los hombres de Baki cuando un enemigo ataca a su S/O.
Characters: Jun Guevaru, Musashi Miyamoto, Mumon Katsuragi and Retsu Kaioh.
Jun Guevaru.
"These months have been exhausting without them, so stressful how everyone seems to go on with their lives while I feel lost because they didn't react, but they have finally come to their senses. They have opened their eyes and looked at me after so long, I really missed those beautiful eyes.
Who could even think of hurting you, mi amor? What kind of monster could hurt you, mi ángel?
I must make sure that your house is protected so that this incident does not happen again. A couple of my men could regularly hang around there just to keep the perimeter clear, I'll be with them anyway so I can protect them. Oh how I've missed you…"
Musashi Miyamoto.
"It's ridiculous to take it out on someone who can't defend themselves, what logic is there in attacking others when the target is me? The discomfort in my chest hasn't disappeared since they were attacked a couple of months ago, now that they woke up I felt less… Uncomfortable, but that feeling is still there.
Is it some kind of desire for revenge? Revenge doesn't taste so bitter, besides, I'm satisfied when I use my katanas on the offender. I don't understand what happens.
I don't understand how they are still here either, their slow breathing and their lack of mobility during these months only gave me an image of what I thought was the future, I don't know how they managed to come back to life, but I will stay with them until they can explain it to me…"
Mumon Katsuragi.
"They opened their eyes, heaven has finally heard my pleas, maybe God got tired of hearing me cry at night to get them back to me. I stopped myself, I wanted to jump on them and kiss them as if I hadn't seen them in years, but I I held back; her condition is delicate and I must be careful.
The doctors haven't stopped talking about her treatment and diet from now on, that old cookbook I found at her house should help me a bit. They probably don't mind me staying at their apartment, I spend most of my time there and they need help right now.
I have to go home before them, I have to clean and change the sheets so they can rest as soon as they get out of the hospital, maybe they want to eat something after a long time? Probably, I'll take care of bringing today's dinner so that I can regain my strength after all these months…"
Retsu Kaioh.
"They are fine, they are fine, they have finally woken up and just in time, just when I lost hope of one day being able to see their eyes looking at me once more. If only I had been by their side when they needed me most, maybe if would have paid more attention to their surroundings they would not be here, they would not have suffered as they did.
The wounds have healed, but they need therapy and periodic checkups to make sure they are better. Maybe I should ask them to move in with me so that I can take care of them properly during all the remaining time of recovery and therapies, that would also allow me to be around for them when they need to do something and their injuries do not allow it.
A good diet is also vital, it could supply the pantry with foods rich in vitamins and nutrients, meat and fish, reduce sugar and bad substances for a period of time. The tea is medicinal, surely they will manage to calm your discomfort and help you sleep. I should take out the inflatable bed and offer them my bed, the important thing is that they are comfortable and rested…"
Versión en español.
Jun Guevaru.
Oh, como te he extrañado…"
Musashi Miyamoto.

Ok so I've finally finished "Aristotle & Dante Dive into the Waters of the World" (a few days ago now).
I'm gonna start with: I got so fucking scared towards the end when they "broke up" and Dante didn't talk to him for weeks and left. God I think not many stories have ever made me feel like that. I think I actually have a bit of a trauma with one in particular that went like that and, actually followed up on not giving me a happy ending.
I was tired but I wasn't sure how I was gonna sleep with that in my mind, until Ari said he was going to Paris and so I knew I could have some hope.
Tbh I had a few more issues with this one than the first. I talked about it before but I didn't really like how it sort of pushed the idea that you HAD to come out to your friends even if you don't feel ready. I also felt like sometimes there wasn't enough Dante? I like Ari's friends and all, but these books are called Aristotle AND DANTE.
I also feel like, in a way, all the characters are a bit too articulate? Maybe too mature even? In the first book I didn't mind it as much cause it was just Ari and Dante themselves, plus their moms I guess, but here Gina and Susie are more relevant and there's Cassandra and Ari's father talks a lot more and there's more stuff like his mom arguing with other people, and it was just like... Well I guess it would be nice if most people were like that in real life, but they're really not...
That aside though, it was obviously still amazing. One thing I liked was Ari actually being gay and that term being used throughout? I usually don't mind when certain characters are mlm without their specific sexuality being stated, and ofc bi/gay couples are nice too, but I feel like sometimes in fiction it ends up being a bit more rare to have couples with two gay guys even though that's what's more common in real life.
I also love how fucking horny he was at the beginning lol. Like this actually felt realistic, and even though there's no smut or anything, it's not something that's just ignored or pushed aside.
I felt like Dante felt a bit more realistic in this book. He's moody so many times and I think his flaws are more visible and so it feel less like he's just there to be Ari's perfect manic pixie dream girl (though I'll say he's still one, affectionately).
Something I thought when I finished the first book was how cool it would probably be to see their parents reacting to their relationship. And that was indeed really cute. I think Dante's mom is my favorite of them all. And on the topic of the parents, Ari's dad's death? That was a complete shock to me. I wasn't expecting it at all. It came out of nowhere but it was honestly really interesting to have Ari and his mom deal with that grief, and that whole section is probably, in a weird way, one of my favorite parts of the book.
Another interesting thing was how much the AIDS crisis in the backdrop affected the book. I remembered when they flashed to that in the movie and I was confused at how random it seemed, but now I can kinda get why. I thought it was the best they could do by making it matter to the characters even though they probably wouldn't and shouldn't be actually affected. It's kinda funny to me how I decided to read this sometime close to when I watched Fellow Travelers that also featured that into the story, cause it's honestly not something I've thought about as much before.
Something that was really important was the closure between Ari and his brother. I'm not gonna say it bothered me exactly, because it was understandable, but it was just always kind of an ick for me that Ari cared so much about him knowing he was there because he killed someone in a hate crime. So the way their reunion went down was actually perfect for me and gave me a much needed relief just like it did for Ari. I feel like the writer probably felt the need to address it too because of the stuff people were saying about the first book due to this plot point, but even if that was why I still felt like the way things were handled felt natural. Their parents had already given up on him, he was never gonna accept Ari and I didn't want for Ari to stay caring about him by just not telling him or something.
I know the ending is a bit vague and doesn't like reeally explain every little thing, but the message felt clear enough to me, in that it was meant to tell us that things will be alright and that they're not just gonna let their love slip through their fingers or run away from it. Ari coming in with the wedding and honeymoon talk? Got me.
It still feels kinda weird that it's really over because it had honestly become so much of a habit to read these almost every day in bed. These books were probably the easiest thing for me to read and just flowed so naturally. I know people have already said that, but they really do feel like a way to celebrate life despite all the hardships in it and you can feel that love through the pages.

Hi Zep! I'm back for more random fanfic & writing questions! First, do you prefer writing canon type stories or AU's? Or do you let the idea influence which category it falls under more? Second, do you only write fanfic or do you do your own personal writing too? I fully believe you could (and should) write a novel someday if you desired! You're so talented and I'd love to see what you could come up with. Lastly because I want to, FMK for Dean, Beau and Ben? 👀 Hope you're having a good weekend!
Hello, my friend! (Can I call you Michelle? I see that in your bio. 💜) I'm having a great weekend, thank you! I hope you are as well.
Oooh, these are great questions!!
Canon vs. AU Stories
So when it comes to fanfic, I have more experience with canon stories, but I enjoy reading and writing both canon and AU depending on the premise. For example, reading a firefighter!Dean story (and my love of Chicago Fire and other procedurals) led me to write Smoke Eater, my first full SPN AU story.
Writing an AU is more challenging in my opinion, because you're doing more extensive worldbuilding and character building than stories in a canon storyverse. Smoke Eater was much more challenging for me to write than Never Say Goodbye, for example, which is a soulmate AU within the canon SPN world.
A Book Maybe?
Second, do you only write fanfic or do you do your own personal writing too? I fully believe you could (and should) write a novel someday if you desired! You're so talented and I'd love to see what you could come up with.
Aw thank you very much, love!! I so appreciate you for saying that. 🥰🥰
Yes, I've actually been working on a novel for the past couple of years. I've taken a break from it since I've been writing so much fanfic lmao. But it's actually a a fantasy/romance. (Think Bridgerton and Howl's Moving Castle meets GoT, with less violence, lots of drama, and a bit more magic lol.) I had a major breakthrough in my draft and outline a few weeks ago, so my goal is to finish it this year! 💕💕
FMK With Dean, Beau, and Ben
Oh shiiiiit. Girl, you tryna kill me??? 😭😭😭
Okay. Because I could never "Kill" any of these men, I'll sub that for "Kiss."
First, I'm gonna have to fuck Ben. Because...yeah. 🥵
(And sorry but aside from BMD-verse Ben, I think I'd tear my hair out with this guy as my partner, if he didn't break my back first. 🤣)
Next, I think I have to...and shit this is hard, but I'm gonna have to kiss Beau.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this cowboy sheriff with all my heart and soul, and he would undoubtedly treat me right (once we got him into therapy for some of his trauma).
But...
Dean has held my heart the longest out of these three. He's flawed and has trauma beyond belief, but I'd love to give him the loving, comforting, supportive relationship he always deserved on the show. (And then fix that fucked up ending for sure.)
And for that reason, I'd have to marry Dean.
@luci-in-trenchcoats I would also love to hear your thoughts on writing canon vs. AU, since you've written so much of both. What's your favorite, and which do you find more challenging?
Also, since you tied me into knots with this question, right back at ya!! FMK with Dean, Beau, and Benjamin. 😘

Revenge
kai parker x bonnie bennett
summary: even though kai is away for good, something still nags at bonnie. he deserves more pain than what she gave him; he should get equal to what he made everyone else suffer. the witch shakes her head. desiccation is punishment enough for any vampire, hybrid, or heretic. she’s seen it plenty of times.

a/n: i watched a 2 min clip of 'what lola wants' and then spent the next twelve hours writing this😅
Bonnie’s sick of being treated like crap. She’s tired of being used, manipulated, and abused by witches, werewolves, and vampires alike. She’s tired of friends and enemies demanding favors and then neglecting her when they’re done. She’s sick of all of it.
But out of all the people at whom she’s the most angry, it’s Kai Parker.
The man she was alone with for months, trapped in 1994. The man who left her there, and then raised hell in her hometown in her absence. The man that had no problems killing anyone to get what he wanted - even children.
It’s him who she hates most above every other person who’s wronged her. So when Bonnie finally got the upperhand, she was more than happy to put him in his place. Now, Kai is stuck in a new prison world; chained with the strongest metal she could find. He’s there all alone, his least favorite song on repeat, to face an eternity of misery until he slowly desiccates.
Bonnie can’t help but feel proud of herself.
But even though Kai is away for good, something still nags at her. He deserves more pain than what she gave him; he should get equal to what he made everyone else suffer.
The witch shakes her head. Desiccation is punishment enough for any vampire, hybrid, or heretic. She’s seen it plenty of times.
Still. Despite her revenge, she craves more.
It’s been a couple weeks since she locked him up and threw away the key. Bonnie had expected to forget about him by now. She could live her life without his torment, or the fear that he’d find and hurt her. She should be free from all the pain he caused.
Yet… she can’t stop thinking about him.
If he’s still on her mind, she thinks, then he deserves more than what she gave. Tighter chains, louder music, less hope. Or perhaps… more pain. To give him hope, but then to take it away. To make him feel something, but then leave him with nothing.
Bonnie’s skin prickles at this thought. Nerves carve a pit in her stomach as a new plan forms in her head. It’s risky, wicked, and downright sinful, but it makes the edges of her lips twitch with amusement. Kai hasn't gotten all that he deserves, but she’ll make sure he does by the time she’s through with him.
~~~~~~
The ascendant’s hidden in a locked box under her bed. She told Damon and Alaric that it was in a safe in the Salvatore mansion. Obviously, she lied. Bonnie wanted to keep it closeby for reasons just like this - in case she’d ever need to check up on the man. As if he were a Peanuts’ character trapped in a dangerous, little snow globe.
In five minutes’ time, she sends herself to the new prison world and makes her way to the bar where she had chained him weeks ago. She can already hear the Spin Doctors’ worst hit song from outside, and can’t help but cringe at the thought of hearing it on repeat.
Bonnie enters the bar as quietly as she can. The door creaks, though, as she shuts it, so when she approaches the center stage, a half-dessicated Kai is already staring at her.
His gaze is cold, but as soon as he recognizes his guest, a smile creeps on his face.
“Bonnie Bennett. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
She scoffs at the irony. “My being here does not mean pleasure for you.” In a split second, she turns off the tv, relieving them both of the annoying music.
“Oh, but it always is when you’re around,” he flirts, “and besides, that,” he gestures to the now blank screen, “is also a pleasure to have off.”
Bonnie rolls her eyes. “Actually, I’m here to give you more of what you deserve. Pain.”
“More punishment? Is that so?”
The woman joins him on the stage, but keeps a distance. “You won’t be joking around by the time I’m finished here. Might as well give up the act now.”
“What are you going to do? Hurt me? Hit me?”
“Oh, I’m going to do much worse than that.”
Kai can only follow half her movements with his eyes. When she circles around to his backside, he’s rendered incapable of defending himself. Bonnie smirks when he struggles against his chains. He’s afraid, she realizes. She has the ability to strike fear in him.
Bonnie comes up close enough to press her body into his chair. She flicks open a switchblade and presses it to his neck.
“How does this make you feel? I have all the power over you right now.”
Kai settles at the feeling of the blade on his neck. Struggling against the chains would only make him bleed and weaken him more.
“Nothing to say? That’s a first.”
“Bonnie-” he manages.
“Ah, ah, ah, you lost your chance to talk,” she interrupts at once. “Now, you stay still. If you struggle against those again, you’ll surely regret it.”
Kai doesn’t answer, nor does he move. Satisfied with his obedience, Bonnie removes the knife from his neck and cuts her pointer finger, just enough for it to bleed. She switches the knife closed and tucks it into her jean pocket. Kai’s veins immediately show under his eyes. He’s starving, and she knows it. Bonnie grabs his neck, squeezes it, and pulls him back. Their eyes meet.
“What,” he chokes out, “are you doing?”
“Be quiet.” Bonnie touches her bleeding finger to his lips. His veins darken even more at the small taste of her blood. “Well? What are you waiting for?”
At her vague consent, he darts out his tongue to lick his lips. The grayness of his slowly desiccating state fades away, and his eyes roll in pleasure.
“Bonnie-”
“I said,” her hand tightens on his neck, “be quiet.” She lets another drop fall to his lips, then nods for him to lick it up. After a few more, he seems to get a small fraction of his strength back. Kai starts to look more like he used to - annoyingly handsome. His boyish features return to their usual youthfulness, as does the green-ish tint in his eyes. She lets go of his neck and walks around to stand in front of him.
“What are you doing?” He asks again, genuinely confused.
The girl, several inches shorter, yet currently way overpowering him, crosses her arms. “Getting my revenge.”
Kai narrows his eyes. “Isn’t that why you chained me up?”
“If you think that’s all you deserve, you’re sorely mistaken.”
She stalks closer to him.
“Why did you give me your blood?” He asks, sweat beading at his forehead as he nervously anticipates her punishment.
“So that you’d feel everything I’m about to do to you.” She gets even closer. Her knees graze against his.
“Which is?”
“You ask too many questions, do you know that?”
“I’ve been told.”
“Yeah.” Suddenly, she hits her fist onto his chest. It isn’t hard enough for the chair to rock, but it catches him off guard. “It’s been nice not having to listen to you talk nonstop. The last few weeks have been so blissfully quiet.” She pushes him now, this time with both hands.
Kai doesn’t speak. If he could, he’d grab her hands, but his chains don’t budge.
“And I’ve tried to forget about your stupid face and move on with my life, but I can’t ignore the little voice in my head that tells me you haven’t suffered enough yet for what you put me through!”
“Bon-”
“So that’s why I’m here! And you’re going to feel everything. That’s why I gave you my blood. So you’d remember how good it feels to be awake and alive again, just for me to take it away. I control you, Kai. You don’t have anything over me. You’re powerless. You’re nothing.” She spits the words out, cruelty in her voice, knowing just what to say to start up his rage. Though she’s right - there’s nothing he can do against her.
Anger and fear shoot through his body. His blood runs cold. Kai jumps at his chains, veins darkening again, but it’s no use. He couldn’t get out when he was at full strength, and he certainly won’t get out now. Still, he tries, at least to loosen them.
Bonnie, meanwhile, just watches him struggle. She has the nerve to smirk, angering him more. “You’re only hurting yourself,” she mutters.
Kai doesn’t care. He continues to fight uselessly.
After a minute, though, it suddenly seems she’s had enough watching him. She slaps both of her hands onto his legs, palms open, sending a stinging sensation up his spine. “Stop fighting. You look pathetic.”
“Bonnie,” he cries to her, though does stop moving.
“Shut up.”
“Bonnie, I’m sorry. Please let me go. Let me out. I’ll be good, I promise.”
“I already gave you that chance. You can’t be trusted. You can never be allowed out again.”
“No, I promise, it’ll be different this time! I’ll be different. I’ll-”
“I said, ‘shut up’!” She slaps his leg again. Her hand lands dangerously further up his thigh. He flinches from the unexpected pain.
“Bon,” he tries again.
Astonished at his refusal to listen, she looks him dead in the eyes. “Have you ever listened to a word anyone’s told you? I tell you to be quiet and you just keep whining! It’s so fucking pathetic.”
His eyes widen. He’s never heard her cuss before.
“Finally! Maybe you are capable of doing something right.”
“I can, I promise! Let me prove to you that I-”
“Awh, nope. Back to square one.”
“Wait! You tricked me!”
“I didn’t trick you! You tricked me! Over and over when you made promises to me and continuously broke them. You can’t do anything right. Can’t even shut up for one second.”
Kai bites his tongue when he wants to reply. At first he was amused by her bullying, but now it’s getting to his head. Bonnie can see it in his eyes. She’s weakened him enough that he won’t fight her back anymore.
“Good. Now stay that way. You can only speak if I give you permission.”
Kai is confused, but doesn’t ask. His tongue bleeds from the pressure he puts on it.
Bonnie’s hands run further up his legs. Her fingers curl in between the chains, feeling the heaviness of the metal.
“Do these hurt?”
Kai nods.
“Good.”
She gives them a tug, then abandons them. Her hands move to his belt, toying with the buckle.
“Bet that’s uncomfortable,” she chuckles.
Kai expects her to examine more of his confined hell, maybe to confirm that his boots are tied too tightly, or that his shirt tag is itchy, but her focus has yet to leave his belt. He swallows, watching her fingers trace the buckle’s golden metal.
“Pretty tight, too. Would suck to be bound in a chair with a belt that’s too tight. Imagine the stomach ache. Yikes.”
Before Kai can even consider a response in his head, Bonnie’s undoing the buckle. He blinks in surprise, wondering if he’s dreaming. The woman lets it fall to his sides when it loosens, then she traces a finger down the center of his jeans. His pants tighten by the second. His lips part in pleasure, but he doesn’t dare make a sound.
She then pulls down the zipper and feels for his quickly hardening cock. When she gets a hold of it, she brings it through the hole.
“Thank god you’re big, otherwise this wouldn’t even be worth it.”
The degrading praise makes him even harder. Kai clenches his fists and squeezes his eyes shut. The urge to say her name, taste it on his tongue while she holds his cock, is strong, but he fears the consequences if he speaks.
Bonnie runs her fingers along his length. At first, she just admires the size. Her nails scratch slightly, but the pain feels good. As soon as pre-cum starts to dribble from the tip, she rubs her thumb in it. She smears it around his head, making it wet and sticky. Bonnie spits in her hand to wet the rest of his length. Then, with his cock squeezed in between two of her fingers, she starts to jerk him off.
She starts slow, but picks up pace the harder he gets. Whenever her spit dries, she adds more, but it isn’t adequate lubrication. Neither care, though. Bonnie doesn’t care about his pleasure, and Kai’s too desperate. She watches him lean back into the chair, chest heaving as he fights the urge to moan. He’s sweating profusely. He looks so weak in her hands, with his pleasure depending on her choices. Bonnie spits on her other hand and mixes it with his remaining pre-cum. She jerks his length with her whole fist now, while the nails on her other hand dig into his sensitive head.
“You can speak,” she instructs.
Kai lets out a deep sigh almost immediately. A shudder runs through his body, followed by a heavy moan. “Bon,” he pants, cut off by his own need to moan again.
His sounds of contentment are some of the prettiest she’s ever heard, but she’d never admit it. Instead, she jerks him faster. She tightens her grip around his cock and pulls on it. Moans continue to tumble from his lips, one after another, while Bonnie doesn’t slow down for a second.
That is… until he’s close.
“Fuck,” Kai whines, “fuck, Bonnie. Don’t stop, I’m so close.”
They lock eyes. She runs her tongue along her lower lip. A little tease.
“I’m so close, Bon, I’m gonna- oh, fuck-”
Any second now, he’s gonna explode. Bonnie drops his cock immediately and watches it hang in the air. It’s red from the friction, and probably sore from the dryness.
“Why’d you stop?” Kai asks in between pants. “I’m- why- Bon-”
The woman straightens her back, smirking. “That’s enough for now, don’t you think?”
“No! Wait! Bonnie! Don’t leave, please! Don’t leave me like this.”
She laughs as his cock starts to soften. The lack of stimulation combines with the cool air in the room, leaving him edged. Kai is still pleading with her, but she tunes him out. Then, once he’s soft enough that he’ll need to work back up a sweat to come, she tucks him back in his pants and secures his belt.
“Goodbye, Malachai.”
With that, she turns on her heels and returns back to her world.
Bonnie washes her hands as soon as she gets back to her dorm, but she can’t shake the feeling of his heavy cock resting in them. She sighs to herself, conflicted with the thought, but decides not to linger on it. Instead, she thinks of Kai, and what he’s probably feeling at that very moment. Maybe he’s yelling - angry at her for visiting just to tease him. Maybe he’s crying - having been so close to finding relief, only to have it taken from him. Either way, she feels proud of herself. Kai can’t control her anymore, but she now has certain control over him, and she’s not going to stop until she’s satisfied.
~~~~~~
Two days after her secret visit to the prison world, Bonnie returns to it. Alaric and Damon had already made plans for the night, giving her enough time to edge Kai for another round before returning unsuspiciously to her room. She has it all planned out, and neither man should suspect a thing.
She repeats the same steps as before, creeping into the bar, finding Kai waiting for her as soon as he heard the door. His face is mixed with emotions in her presence. Emotions he probably doesn’t even understand, but she can identify some: anger, relief, desperation. She bites back a smile at knowing she can pull those feelings out of him just by entering a room.
“Hello, Kai.”
“Bonnie,” he greets, watching her carefully.
“Miss me?” She teases, finally letting that smile free.
“Ha ha. Stop making jokes.”
“Okay. Guess I won’t try to lighten the mood.”
He glares at her.
“Yeah, okay, guess not. Seems like what they say about blue balls is true… guys get so grumpy!”
“Can we just skip the awkward part and carry onto however you want to punish me next?”
“Alright, fine.” Bonnie stalks up to him and puts her heeled foot on his knee. “I haven’t really planned how I want to do that yet today. Any suggestions?”
Kai trails his eyes over her toned leg. “This works.”
“Ha ha,” she returns the same dry tone he used. “Never mind, I got it.” Bonnie takes her foot off him and immediately starts on his belt again. She’s leaning into him just a little bit to pull him through his jeans’ hole, when she feels something touch the back of her knee. Quickly, she whips around to see his fingers grazing her. Kai stills his hands at once, and when she looks back at him, he’s grinning.
“Couldn’t help myself.”
“You do not touch me,” she shakes a finger at him.
“You’re touching me.”
“I’m punishing you for all the shit you put me through.”
“By touching me?”
“It’s a means to a very satisfying end, where I leave you very much unsatisfied.”
Kai purses his lips, obviously holding back a laugh. Probably a snide comment, too, but luckily he doesn’t say it.
Bonnie glares at him, irritated once more by the man. Without much thinking, she slaps his soft cock, which she had just pulled from his jeans. Immediately, the man buckles - as much as he can in his chains.
“Ow!”
“I’m not here to make you feel good.”
“Noted.”
His cock starts to grow anyway. There’s a red slap mark on it, but the sudden pain seemed to get him hard. Bonnie stares, incredulous.
“You’re serious?”
“I can’t control it.”
“You’re pathetic.”
“Thanks for the reminder.”
For a moment, she’s quiet, as if thinking up a new punishment plan. Kai watches her face with curiosity. Incidentally, he gets harder thinking of how she might hurt him next.
“Did you like it yesterday when I hit you? Did that turn you on, too?”
“I don’t know, you tell me. You’re the one that had your hands on me.”
“Did you like it when I had my hands around your neck?”
“You could recreate it and we could find out.”
She scoffs, “good try.”
“Thought you wanted me hard so you could punish me more?”
“Well, it seems that job has already been done for me since we’ve been sitting here, talking about it.”
Kai looks down at himself. “Huh. Well, would you look at that?” He catches her eye again, a proud smirk on his face.
Bonnie immediately slaps his cheek. “Fuck you for enjoying this.”
“Was that supposed to be part of the punishment? Because hearing you cuss at me also helped yesterday.”
The woman straightens her posture, seething in frustration. “You’re so irritating, I can’t deal with you!” She’s quick to leave the bar, giving Kai almost no time to call after her. The door slams behind her, and he’s left in complete silence.
~~
Five minutes later, Bonnie comes back in, still seemingly annoyed, but less angry-looking.
“What-”
“Don’t start. Don’t say a fucking word to me until I say you can.”
For some reason, Kai obeys. He squeezes his lips shut and watches as she kneels in between his legs. His cock has softened again since she left, but her touch brings him back in a matter of minutes. Her grip is strong as she takes him in her hand and jerks him back and forth. His body relaxes, then releases the pre-cum she needs to glide along him more smoothly. Though instead of using it as lube like he expected her to do again, her tongue makes contact with the tip of his cock. His head is enveloped in her warm mouth as she takes in his length. Kai moans, forgetting his instruction to be quiet. Bonnie slaps his thigh instantly, but it only makes him whimper.
“Shut up,” she tells him. A strand of spit still connects her lip to his cock, though she had pulled off him to talk.
“Sorry.”
She glares at him, but then goes back to her task. Bonnie traces the thick vein on the underside with her finger, then goes back over it with her tongue. Kai bites his own tongue, once again, to not make another sound. His body tenses as he struggles against his own desires.
“You can speak but try not to sound so fucking needy,” she snaps.
Kai nods.
She puts her mouth on him again. Her lips stay on his head while her hand does all the work to get him off, but he’s not complaining. She maintains her tight hold, squeezing slightly, bringing a little pain.
Kai starts to moan again. Soft ones, trying to sound less needy, as he was commanded. Though once he gets close, he starts to lose control. “Bon-”
Bonnie nips the skin on his head. He jumps in shock.
“Bonnie, ah-”
“Close?” She pants, separating her lips, but then blowing cool air where she had bitten.
“Yes. Please don’t-” She lets go. “-stop. Ah, no! Bonnie, no! Why? Please! Please just let me-”
“No.”
“Bonnie!”
The woman stands up. She waits for him to start going soft, then tucks him back in again.
“See you later, Malachai. Maybe.”
“Bonnie, please! Don’t go, I-”
“Remember what I said earlier? Don’t try to be so fucking needy.”
~~
Moments after Bonnie washes her hands and sits back on her bed, Damon pops in the room.
“Hey.” He eyes her.
“Hey.”
“Where have you been?”
“Studying.”
“I came here, you weren’t here.”
“I was at the Grill.”
“Oh.”
“Need something?”
“Nope. Just… checking on you.”
“I’m pretty good today. How was it with Ric?”
“Pretty good, too.”
“Cool.”
“Yeah, um. Mind if I stay here just for a little? Stefan’s been angsty and I just…”
Bonnie smiles. They’ve grown quite close in the last year. “Sure.”
“Okay, cool.” He lies down in Elena’s bed.
Bonnie continues to study while Damon chatters on about his night with Alaric. She listens the best she can. Though when he comments about her strayed attention, she’s quick to blame her homework, and not the vicious thoughts swarming her head about one Kai Parker, and what exactly she’ll do to him next.
~~~~~~
The next time Bonnie can get away from the drama of Mystic Falls, she takes a short vacation to the prison world. Her excuse, this time, is needing some peace and quiet after dealing with heretic drama for the last four days. Although ironically, her escape would be found with another heretic. But Bonnie shakes this thought away as soon as it surfaces. Being with Kai is not an escape; it’s a continuation of his much deserved punishment. It’s her revenge on him for all his wrongdoings. She needs to deliver it as much as he needs to receive it. Besides, it’s addicting, every time she leaves him sore and begging for her to come back. It’s empowering.
That’s why she keeps going back.
This is the third time she’s visited him. Though instead of walking right up to him on the center stage, Bonnie disappears behind the bar. Kai had heard and seen her come in, but her change in routine has made him curious.
“What are you doing, BonBon?” He asks, a slight tease in his tone.
Bold of him to tease her when he’s the one tied up.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” She fires back.
“You know what they say?” Kai clicks his tongue. “Third time’s the charm.”
“You wish.”
“Aw come on, Bonnie. Wouldn’t it be so fun if we could come together? I’m dying to know what your pretty little moans sound like. And you’ve heard mine, but I can be louder.”
“Do I have to remind you that this isn’t supposed to be fun?”
“But you have to admit, it kinda is.”
Bonnie looks at him, rolling her eyes. She’s about to go smack that stupid smirk off his face, but then she notices a metal glint on the shelf beside her. It takes her attention from him, and she chuckles.
“What?” Kai asks.
“Nothing.”
Bonnie then disappears into the kitchen on a quest for something wet. Something in this bar that she could use in place of lube. She smiles when she finds it.
Two minutes later, she’s standing in front of Kai with her newly found tools. He looks at them, then back at her.
“Coconut oil?”
“Mhm.”
“And a bar spoon.”
“Yep.”
“What are you gonna do with those?”
“Something dangerous.”
Kai shifts in his seat. She knows the debate he’s having in his head. She knows him now like she knows the back of her hand.
“No objections?”
“Do I have a choice?”
“Not really.”
Kai purses his lips, not giving her an answer.
“You’ll be fine. Just don’t think about it yet. Because if you get hard, it’s gonna hurt.”
“Wait what?”
But she’s already busy with his buckle. She puts the spoon in between her teeth while pulling him out, then crouches down to prep him. Kai watches with a morbid curiosity, trying to guess her next move. Bonnie, meanwhile, lathers the end of the spoon in coconut oil. Then, she applies some to the tip of his soft cock.
“Bon,” he can’t help the groan from the contact, “what are you doing?”
“Stay still. Tell me if you need more lube.”
“Okay.” Because what else is he gonna do about it?
Bonnie seems to enter a deep concentration as she lines the spoon up with the tip of his head. She keeps one hand on his cock to hold it in place and slowly inserts the spoon end into the urethral hole.
“Oh god,” Kai mutters, quickly catching on, “Bon?”
“What?”
“Do you know what you’re doing?”
“I’ve seen it in a video.”
He narrows his eyes. “What kind of-”
“Doesn’t matter.”
“Okay. But hey, have you ever done this before, because- oh!” He’s cut off - thankfully - by a moan as she reaches his prostate. “Oh god,” he says again, this time out of pleasure.
“Are you okay?” She asks. She doesn’t know why; it’s not like she cares.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” His voice is raspy as he answers. She tries to ignore the way it makes her feel.
“Okay.” She twists the spoon. It’s coiled handle would be felt against his walls, but she could only wonder how it’d feel. Judging by the strained groan that leaves his lips, it’s intense.
“Bonnie-”
“What?”
He says nothing.
“What?”
“I don’t know, I just-” She pulls it out a little, then pushes it back in. The motion effectively cuts off his speech again.
“I like this,” she smirks, “it shuts you up.”
Kai looks down at her. “Who knew you could be such a sadist, Bonnie?”
“Who knew you could get turned on by a spoon in your dick?” She fires back.
He doesn’t have an answer. Whether he’s embarrassed or speechless, she’s not actually sure.
Satisfied with her newfound ability to quiet him, Bonnie pulls it back again, until it’s almost out, and then slowly pushes more into his prostate.
“You still fine?” She asks again, still, not sure why she cares.
“Yeah. More of that,” he points to the floor.
“What?”
“The that.”
“Descriptive.”
“Lube stuff.”
“Oh.” She takes a scoop and applies it to his head, as well as what length of the handle isn’t buried inside him. The whole thing doesn’t fit, but she only needs it long enough to hit his prostate.
“Thanks.”
“Hm.”
“Fuck,” he mutters, watching her twirl it.
Bonnie puts some of the oil on her free hand, then starts to rub the outside of his length. She can feel the tool that’s inside, and finds herself having to bite her lip to not moan from the pleasure she’s giving him.
“Oh my god,” Kai’s words snap her out of her own mind.
“Don’t get hard,” she warns again, feeling it happen as she speaks.
“I’m trying not to. Hard when you’re touching me like that.”
“Do you want me to stop?”
“No.”
Bonnie continues to jerk him off per his request. She watches his face, which contorts between expressions of pain and pleasure, as he becomes erect. She’s stopped moving the spoon for now and instead lets it rest inside him. Kai chews on his bottom lip until it bleeds.
“Bonnie-”
“What?”
For a second time, he doesn’t answer. Bonnie decides to chalk it up to that maybe he just likes to say her name when he’s being touched. The thought makes her proud. For fun, she pushes the spoon into his prostate just a little further.
“Ah- fuck-” His body shivers, and she wonders if he’s close.
“Update?” She asks, not wanting to directly ask if he’s okay again.
“Um-”
She smirks, reading his face. “Close? But don’t want to tell me?”
“Bon-”
“You have five seconds. See if you can come in five… four…” She begins to carefully pull the spoon out.
“Wait, wait, wait! I’m close, don’t- just give me a little more time!”
“Two… one!” As soon as it’s out, she drops his cock. “Whoops! Out of time!”
“No, wait! Bonnie, please! I can’t do this anymore. I need,” he’s panting heavily, “need it. I can’t take it anymore.”
“Sorry, try again next time.”
“Bonnie!”
“Are you okay? Need more lube? Just for, I don’t know, comfort?”
“I need to come, Bonnie. Please.”
“So is that a no?”
“Bon-”
“Taking it as a no,” she mutters. “Okay… just because you look like you’re on the verge of passing out, and as much as I hate you, I’m not that mean, I’ll give you a little treat.” She retrieves the switchblade from her pocket, cuts her finger, and lets a couple drops of blood drip onto the spoon part of the bar tool. His veins appear quickly at the mere sight of her blood, and he finally shuts up about his desire to come. Bonnie is careful in letting him sip off the spoon, then refills it once and feeds him again. Then, as he’s preoccupied with the taste of blood, she tucks him back in his pants and redoes the buckle.
“Bye.” She puts the spoon in the kitchen sink, along with the oil, and then waves goodbye to him as she leaves.
~~
That most recent visit stays in the forefront of both their minds.
Bonnie wonders what got into her to even make her do it in the first place, while also being proud of herself for stimulating him in such a dominant way. Never would she expect that from herself, yet once she started, it was hard to stop. She found herself actually enjoying it - both the act and the intimacy of it, as well as his moans. She even had to stop herself from moaning in the middle of it as she listened to him.
As she thinks about it, though, she remembers what he had said when she first entered, “wouldn’t it be so fun if we could come together? I’m dying to know what your pretty little moans sound like. And you’ve heard mine, but I can be louder.”
And he had gotten louder. If they weren’t the only people in the prison world, she would’ve worried about others overhearing him.
Still… she wonders how exactly he’d react to her sounds. She bets there’s a way to edge him with her own voice; to pleasure him, maybe without even touching him. And then, of course, to take it away just the same. She smiles, liking the plan forming in her head.
Because as much as she might be getting turned on by his voice, she’ll never let him know. At least this way, she can get some pleasure for herself without him getting any of the credit.
As much as Bonnie thinks about that night, Kai thinks about it tenfold. After all, there’s nothing else for him to do. At first, he’s still coming off from the high of trying something new. He hadn’t come, but the experience was still very enjoyable. He even swears he can still feel the coils against his walls, turning and turning. Kai shifts; the memory of the sensation makes him hard.
But as the feeling fades, and the taste of blood expires from his lips, he grows angry. Angry at the fact that she’s been edging him for over a week. Angry at the hunger gnawing at his stomach. Angry at the way she’s using him for sexual gratification - no matter how much she claims it’s punishment. Angry at himself for enjoying it every time and forgiving her each time she comes back.
He’s pissed. His blood feels like acid, and he’s desperate for his own revenge.
~~~~~~
As soon as her heels click on the bar floor, Kai’s looking for her. He has a nasty speech planned for her, and the moment she comes into view, he’ll spit it out until she feels guilty enough to let him come. Rage dances in his eyes and the words balance on his tongue.
“How do you feel?” Bonnie’s voice hits his ears. She comes out of the shadows slowly, not only edging him in a sexual practice, but now also with the way she approaches.
Kai seethes. But the moment he opens his mouth to shout at her, his jaw drops. There she is, fully emerged from the darkness, as sexy as he thought he could only ever picture. She wears a bustier top with black leather pants, plus her heeled boots. Her breasts are pushed up and neck is fully exposed. Kai’s eyes travel from her collarbone, to her breasts, and then down the rest of her body. His breath catches and pants tighten.
“I asked you a question,” the woman repeats.
“I, uh-”
“Hm.” Bonnie grabs one of the bar chairs and swings it around to face him. She sits, straddling her legs apart, and leans back carelessly. There’s about ten feet between them. Ten feet of tense, sexually charged energy.
Kai tries to form a word, or even possibly start the rant that he had planned, but his throat is dry.
“You have nothing to say?” She challenges.
“You’re-”
She cocks her head at him. “No? Pathetic. Can’t even compliment how good this top looks on me.” Bonnie leans forward suddenly. Her breasts threaten to spill. “Tell me - why is it I have to do everything myself? I guess the saying is true… if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.” She leans back again, studying him. Kai’s silent, now rather intimidated, as her eyes rake over his form. His eyes, dilated pupils bearing a pleading look. His lip, bloodied from being chewed between his teeth. His neck, skin flushed from edging without relief. His cock, hard in his jeans once again, desperate for touch. Bonnie smirks. “Well? Come over and have me your way, if that’s what you want.”
Kai struggles against his chains.
“No? Don’t want to touch? Guess I do have to do it myself.”
He fights again, and this time, finds his voice. “No! Bon, I want- please-”
“Sorry, missed your window.”
Bonnie unbuttons her pants before slinking a hand into them. She finds her clit with ease and wastes no time rubbing little circles into the tissue. A soft moan escapes her lips. Her legs widen involuntarily. Kai can only watch the scene before him as his cock hardens uncomfortably. Bonnie can see the outline from where she’s sitting, but she only spares him a glance before rolling her eyes back in her head.
“Bon,” Kai tries again. He can’t grab her attention, though.
One of her arms snakes up to her hair and she digs into her own scalp. She breathes deeply at the pleasurable feeling, then lets her hand drop back to her shoulder.
“Bonnie… I can make you feel good. Please. Let me out. I promise, I can do better.”
The woman pauses for a second. She chuckles. “Better? You really think so?”
“I know so. Just give me a chance. Please.”
“Never thought I’d see the day where Kai Parker is pleading.”
“Bonnie, I’m serious. I promise.”
“Okay then, come over here and do better. I dare you to try.”
Kai tries to get out of his chains again. “I can’t, you need to let me out.”
“Can’t? I thought you said you could?”
“No, not that. Bon- please!”
She shakes her head. “Boys and their egos… always thinking they can do it better.” Bonnie starts up again; Kai can see her hand moving in her pants. She puts pressure on her clit, dips her fingers into her core, then goes back to her clit when they’re slick. Her lips separate and quiet whines spill from them. Her free hand drops to her chest. She squeezes her tits from outside her top, before running her hand down the side of her body.
Her body is beautiful, but Kai’s mouth is too dry to tell her. He’s angry that he’s not the one pleasuring her, and also that he can’t pleasure himself. There’s nothing he can do but watch as she draws herself closer to her own orgasm.
A mere seconds later, with no warning to him except for the way her pace quickens, Bonnie comes. She grabs the back of the chair as her legs go weak, and several moans, much louder than her soft, little whines, sound like heaven to his ears.
Kai’s heart beats in his chest as she recovers, and he wonders he might’ve come without even being touched. He squeezes his legs together just in case.
When Bonnie finally comes back to her senses, she looks up at him. “I do a pretty good job by myself, don’t ‘ya think?”
Kai knows better than to answer. Instead, he watches her pull her hand out from her pants, button them, and stand up. Her fingers are coated with her own wetness. He can see it on her hands reflecting from the neon light behind them.
Bonnie then smiles and rounds his backside, just as she did on her first visit. Kai follows as much as he can, but loses sight of her quickly. Before he can ask what she’s doing, her fingers are up against his lips. The smell of her fills his nose.
“Suck.”
He does so immediately. Kai isn’t even tempted to feed, he’s so overwhelmed by her taste. Once her fingers are clean, she pulls them from his lips and stands in front of him. She looks him up and down, then leaves. This time, she doesn’t even say goodbye.
~~~~~~
The fifth time Bonnie visits, Kai’s hard the moment he hears her enter the building. When she reaches the stage and sees his tight jeans, she laughs.
“Wow. You must be pretty uncomfortable.”
“Bonnie, please.”
“Begging has gotten you nowhere, yet you still continue to do it.”
“I need to come, please. It hurts.”
“I thought you liked the pain.”
“Not this kind of pain.”
She stares down at him. “Hm. Maybe. If you stop begging me like a brat, maybe.”
“Okay. I’ll do whatever you want. I promise.”
She laughs. “Well there’s not much you can do. I mean, I’m not going to unchain you.”
He swallows hard.
“But maybe I’ll let you come. If I’m feeling nice by the end of today’s punishment.”
Kai nods, but not too quickly, not to seem needy.
“So how do you want this to go?” Bonnie stalks around him, focused on the way he reacts to her presence. His body shakes with the need for relief. It’s almost like she’s Pavolved him to get hard the moment she walks through the bar door. The thought of having that effect on someone - on Kai Parker, nonetheless - makes her wet.
“I don’t care, I just need something.”
“No begging, remember.”
He bites his tongue. “If I suggest something, you’ll just do the opposite.”
“What?” She fakes offense and puts a hand on her chest. “That would just be rude.”
“So is edging me for over a week.”
“Oh, you’re fine. Don’t be so dramatic. Besides,” she suddenly leans into his ear, “pretty sure you came last time without permission. So…”
“I didn’t. I promise. I thought I did too, but it was just pre. Trust me. If you let me come, you’ll see for yourself. I haven’t, but I really need to.”
“Begging again…”
“Bonnie, please.”
She sighs, giving up on that. She’d be lying anyway if she said she didn’t like to hear him so desperate. The whole ‘no begging’ thing was only to see if he could do it. Clearly, he can’t.
“Okay.” She comes around to his side and traces a finger down his chest. “Let’s see if you’re telling the truth, then.” Bonnie expertly unbuckles his belt with one hand, though she doesn’t take him out quite yet. “Are you completely hard? Or do you still have a little bit to grow?”
“I-”
She slaps his inner thigh. In a couple moments, the outline in his jeans thickens.
“Good to know pain still does it for you. Was kind of afraid the sounding was too much.” She finally pulls out his cock and lets it bounce against his leg. “Was it too much?”
“No,” he answers immediately, “felt good.”
She smiles. “What an interesting little thing you are.”
“You started it,” he fires back.
“Ah, ah, ah, don’t talk back to me.” Before he can apologize and beg again, she adds, “and don’t touch me.”
“Wait what?”
Bonnie straddles his leg without answering, then lowers herself onto him. Her core is separated by two pairs of denim, but Kai swears he can feel her warmth through the layers. She’s soaking wet, yet chastising him for being hard. His throat dries.
“Bon- ah!”
Without warning, she’s grabbed his cock and has begun to jerk him off yet again. Kai digs his fingernails into his jeans while fighting the urge to reach for her. His body reacts to her stimulation, producing pre-cum faster than it ever has before. Not even in the 1994 prison world had he ever edged himself as badly as Bonnie did this last week. And even worse, he’s had to completely rely on the woman for his pleasure. Kai lets out a choked moan as she spits on his cock to wet it. He misses the way her mouth felt that second night, but doesn’t dare mention it.
Instead, “can the coconut oil make a return?”
“You were fine with the dryness the first night.”
“I-”
Bonnie either pities him or actually understands. He doesn’t know, but she cuts him off. “One moment.”
Her hand leaves his cock entirely, then disappears under her own pants. Within seconds, it re-emerges, glistening with her own wetness, and settles back on his cock. Kai groans at the feeling. It’s wet and warm and coats him better than her saliva does. She jerks him faster once her hand starts to glide better.
“Did my moans live up to your expectations of what they’d be?” She asks suddenly.
Kai stutters out a ‘yes’ amidst the pleasure.
“Would you like to hear them again?”
“Uh huh.”
“Do you wanna make me come? I promise I’ll let you come if you can get me there.”
“Yes. Bonnie, please.”
“Good. Beg for it.”
“Thought you said ‘no begging’?”
“Changed my mind. Not like you were following that rule anyway.”
He gives her an embarrassed smile, not meeting her eyes. The unexpected submissive behavior takes her off guard, but she’s not complaining.
“Eyes on me, Malachai.”
His eyes snap up.
“Good.” With that, she starts to rock her hips on his leg. The friction between their jeans scratches her clit, but it doesn’t hurt. In fact, she likes it, and starts to rub harder. Her arm wraps around his shoulder for a better grip. “Good,” she repeats, “you’re doing well. Are you close?” She hadn’t slowed in her feat to get him off, not even during their brief conversation.
“Uh huh.”
“Okay.”
“You promise I can come?”
“When I say so.”
“Okay,” he pauses, “are you close?”
“Not quite.” Bonnie’s never had much luck getting herself off on pillows and fabrics. She’s tried, but most often needs clitoral stimulation to come. Despite that, she does feel herself reaching the edge; that knot in the stomach that comes with a high. Maybe it’s the pressure on her clit from his jeans. Maybe it’s just Kai, and his body, and the way she’s always had a desire for him, even though she hates him in every other aspect.
“I wish I could touch you,” he breaks the silence. Well, the pause between their conversation. The room has been filled with the sounds of rubbing denim, the slick sounds of his cock, and their heavy moans, since things started picking up.
“You haven’t earned that right yet.”
“That implies I could.”
“Shut up and let me focus on this feeling so I can come.”
Kai shuts his mouth immediately. He, too, decides to concentrate on the sensations that surround him, drawing him closer and closer to orgasm.
“Bonnie, are you close?” His voice is panicked. She can tell he won’t be able to hold off for much longer.
“Shut up-”
“But-”
The woman leans forward, burying her nose in his shoulder, and a second later, biting the clothed skin there. Kai flinches for a moment, but then hears the moans tumbling from her lips and knows she’s reached her high.
“Bon-”
She nods into his body. “Go ahead and come, Kai.”
Finally, with permission, and after four days of being on edge, he’s allowed the pleasure of finishing. A moan from deep inside his throat spills out at the same time a thick load shoots from his tip. There’s more than Bonnie expected, but Kai doesn’t seem surprised.
“Fuckkk.” His whole body shivers in pleasure.
When Bonnie trusts her own two feet, she climbs off his lap. There’s a small wet spot on his jeans where she was sitting, and a darker one on her own.
“You okay?” She asks, watching him recover.
Kai offers a lopsided smile. “Mhm.”
“Satisfied?”
“Yes.”
Bonnie takes one more look at him, then remembers why she’s here. Punishment. Revenge. Certainly not mutual masturbation. The woman straightens her back. “Good.” She turns to leave, unsure what else to say.
“Wait!” Kai abruptly yells. She stops in her tracks. “Now that you’ve let me come, does this mean you won’t be back?”
She turns back to face him, snorting in amusement. “What, you like this?”
“I like you,” he admits, hoping the truth doesn’t betray him. “I like you touching me, even if this is the first time you’ve let me finish.”
“Who knew Kai Parker would have an edging kink?”
“I don’t. I just like you, Bonnie.”
The woman stares at him.
“Please,” he continues, “don’t leave me here. I know I don’t deserve it. I know I’m a horrible person. I know you hate me. But please… you can’t hate me that much if you’ve visited me five times just to edge me. So even if you keep doing that - taking your anger out on me or using me to get off, whatever - keep doing it. I don’t want to spend another block of my life in isolation, Bonnie, I can’t.”
He has a point. She wouldn’t have kept coming back if some part of her didn’t like him at least a little. And on another note, if she keeps abandoning him in prison worlds, he’s only going to get more and more ruthless, less and less moral. As much as she hates him, she can’t do that to him. She shouldn’t. Deep inside her mind, a voice reminds that she doesn’t want to, either. She takes a deep breath.
“Next time I’m bored, maybe I’ll take pity on you and let you come again.”
Kai already knows she’s caved. She’ll be back. “Thank yo-”
“Don’t want to hear it.”
“Okay.”
“If you can prove to be good, that could work in your favor.”
Kai nods quickly.
“Goodbye, Malachai.”
