Jealousy
Tumblr media
Rafe Cameron x Reader (established relationship)
Summary: Reader meets Sofia and isn’t pleased.
*this is my first time writing so don’t be mean😭
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You slam your car door behind you and set fourth to meet Rafe and his boyfriends at the country club bar. Tired from coming straight from working the opening shift at the local coffee shop, you’re hoping you can convince Rafe to go back to tannyhill and just spend a relaxing day with you. Being the nice girlfriend you are however, meant agreeing to meet at the club when he texted you during your shift. Your outfit wasn’t terrible so you skipped stopping at home and here you are. You make your way inside and see the boys all standing around a table on the deck and decide you need a drink before you can handle that much toxic testosterone. You make your way to the bar to and grab the bartender's attention. “Can I get a glass of rose please” she timidly nods and hands me the glass once she’s done pouring. “And what tab name should I put that under?”
Looking her up and down you realized she was probably new, no one had to ask who your tab was under. They knew you were Rafes. You politely smiled back “Rafe, Rafe Cameron,” she looked at you with confusion and protested “um I unfortunately cannot put your drinks under someone else’s tab if they’re not here with you, but If you give me your name I can add it to your club account!” The look you gave her was one of pure disdain. You were simply not in the mood for this today. “I don’t have a member account I’m a guest, a guest of Rafe Cameron, who if you use your eyes you can see is literally right there, on the deck. Right behind us.” You blinked at her waiting for her to get on with it and hopefully let you leave this irking conversation, but no, she continues
“See I understand but since he didn’t accompany you here I have now way of know-“ you turned around and walked away cutting her off mid sentence. You marched towards Rafe who had his back to you, you gripped his wrist promptly ending his conversation with kelce and topper and dragged him to the bar. He looked down at you confused considering he didn’t even know you were there. Once you reach the bar you put on your best fake smile until the girl speaks up while fluttering her eyelashes “oh hi Rafe!” So that’s what this is about. Miss bartender bitch is also a pick me bitch. Got it. You bite your lip while giving this girl a look that could kill and put your hand over Rafe’s chest possessively “sweetie, this lovely new girl… what was your name?”
“Sofia” she answered with a scared look.
“Yes, Sofia, thinks I’m some wandering alcoholic from the street who roams in unaccompanied and tries to add my drinks to strangers tabs, so please for the love of god tell her I’m with you so we can end this wonderful conversation and I can get on with enjoying the rest of my day.” You blink up at him waiting for his response, while he looks at the girl looking like a deer in headlights. You clear your throat and he snaps out of his daze and gives you an evil look. “Yeah actually I have no clue who this girl is, I’ve never see-
You smack his chest simply not having his childish behavior. He sighs and rolls his eyes down at you “Yes yes I unfortunately know this woman.” You smack his chest again “unfortunately?!”
“No sorry, I mean that I get the great pleasure of dating this terrifying woman” he blinks down at you with a stupid smirk, you turn your attention back to Sofia, “are we good now? Is this over?” She gulps and nods her head frantically. “Great, bye Sophie” you grab your drink and while you’re walking away you hear her mutter “it’s Sofia” . You roll your eyes and look up at Rafe who pulls you aside before you reach the table with the boys at it. “Someone’s feisty today” he settles his hands on your hips and looks down at you lovingly. “It was just a shitty day and I can’t put up with people's stupidity anymore.” You take a sip from your glass and rest your free hand on his chest. “I don’t know why you don’t just quit, I told you I can take care of you” you think it over for a second while swirling your wine around. “Yeah but I’m not a gold digger, I don’t have it in me, I would get too bored being a stay at home girlfriend” let’s not forget the fear of him leaving you and you being stuck with nothing! He chuckles at you and gives you a peck to your forehead while moving his hand to the small of your back and ushering you to the table.
“Ayo y/n” topper loudly shouts as you approach.
“What’s up girl?” Kelce asks. Before you get a chance to answer, Rafe steps in for you. “She almost just bit the head off of Sofia the new girl” he laughs along with the boys as you grow annoyed again. “Bro why?” Asks topper. “She kept saying I couldn’t put my drinks on Rafes tab and she also kept batting those slutty eyelashes at him.” You scoff replaying the scene in your head. “Ahh so you're jealous.” Kelce says. You blink at him hoping that he’ll drop dead at any moment. “I will slit your throat Kelce.” You’re really not having this today. The boys all erupt in laughter while Rafe pulls you into his side. You down the rest of your wine and look up at him. “Can we just go back to Tanny? I'm not in a good mood and I was hoping for it just to be us today.” You slightly whisper so that the other two boys wouldn’t hear. Rafe looks at you with a sense of guilt in his eyes seeing as he’s the reason you’re here in the first place. “Yeah, I’m sorry baby let’s go.” He says his goodbye to the boys and you make your way off the deck holding hands while your other hand rests on his bicep. While you’re passing the bar you make sure to catch Sofias eye “Bye Zoey” you say in a sing-song voice. Rafe gives you another smirk while leading you to your car. “You’re kinda a bitch you know that?” He says with nothing but love in his eyes. He hops in your driver's seat since you’re a passenger princess at heart. You click your seatbelt in place and look over at him while he starts up the car. “Yeah I know, but you love me” you’re smiling over at him watching how handsome he looks when he’s putting his arm behind your seat, while looking back to reverse. “Yeah, I really do don't I” he says with a boyish grin. He places his free hand on your thigh and you head off to enjoy the rest of the day in peace with your favorite Cameron boy.
﹏𓊝∘˚ THE SUCCESS OF SHIFTING: THINK AS IF 𓇼∘˚
two things i love doing when it comes to my desires
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i know, i know, you’ve heard that phrase more times than you can count. But i’m asking you, think of the person you want to be, the person you are yearning to be. Congratulations, that’s you now. I don’t care what you’re seeing with your physical eyes. However so many people ask “BUT SALEM HOW DO I ASSUME?”
well, i’m gonna give you two steps to success:
1. WRITE A SUCCESS STORY
if you succeeded you would write one right? I’m not telling that you must feel it real but you would be proud of yourself and so so happy, or even have a surreal natural type of feeling in you when you wake up in your desire state? Whatever feeling, you would write a success story, because you… succeeded? No one is telling you to go lie but go into your notes or whatever you use and write a success story.
Look back on the story every time something comes up and remind yourself that it’s already happened. I mean of course it did, you wrote a success story. Feel that feeling again and let all your worries wash away.
2. IMMERSE YOURSELF IN YOUR NEW POV
suggest you do this while inducing or tryinh to shift or even trying to flip your thoughts: Close your eyes. I want you to envision a pov of your desired self. What are they doing, or should i say, what are YOU doing? are you on a date with your s/o. Are you chilling in bed, a private jet. Are you with family, whatever it is, envision a point of view from your desired self, as if you’re looking through the eyes of your desired self. You have to really really feel it, the warm sun, the laugh of your friends, really immerse yourself
Feel the feelings of calmness, it’s already done and you’re so happy. Now I want you, from the point of your desired self to think about the worries you have now, from your old life your old story. Like an inner monologue, repeat your worry but now from the point of view of your desired self. How would you react?
If you’re looking at life from the point of your desired self, who has everything, would you be worried about getting your summer body? Would you be worried about not getting your dream life before a certain date if you’re living it?
For example Angelica wants to induce pure consciousness, in the dream life that she has scripted, she’s a teen actress.
Angelica is worried about not manifesting her dream life before March. She closes her eyes and imagines life from the pov of her desired self’s eyes. She’s in her trailer infront of the mirror getting touch ups on set. She’s repeats her worry “What if i don’t get my dream life by spring break?” Angelica, now in the state of her desired self laughs at that. “I’m literally getting my makeup done on set, what am i even yapping about?” “Lmfao why am i scared of not living the life i literally have right now?”. And all of Angelica’s worries fade away because she knows she’s shifted.
Jaime wants her dream body but fear is creeping up that she won’t be able to manifest it by summer and will go another year avoiding all the cute clothes and bikinis she wants to wear. She closes her eyes and envisions a pov of her dream self looking in the mirror with her new body. She repeats the worry, and now find it silly because “why would i be scared of not getting something i already have”, she then looks at her success story reminding herself of what’s true.
And when it comes to manifesting, shifting and inducing the void, you already have your desires, so just tell yourself you’re going to relax Procrastinating because you’re scared of failure? Why would you be scared of failing something that’s already happened, so there’s no need to procrastinate. You’re confident in your abilities because you were able to produce success, that success story of yours is proof. Why are you upset about how you “just can’t do it” when you literally have a success story under your belt. Go look at it. Why are you scared of not have something YOU ALREADY HAVE.
There’s no need to rely on the void for your dream life, since you’re already living it. By tricking your mind into thinking that you aren’t reliant on the void, reliant on that shift, since you already have what you want, will make the void way easier and more accessible and natural to you. It won’t be on a pedestal and it won’t take forever for you to finally relax and let go.
Look at your worries from the perspective of your dream self and you’ll realise how pointless worrying is.
IMMERSING IN YOUR POV + REVISITING THAT SUCCESS STORY = SUCCESS
Hi Mae :))
I know this is kinda similar to one of your other fics, and also weirdly specific haha so I totally get if you don’t want to do it, but would you be willing to do an
emt! Maruaders x reader who’s getting surgery, and has a panic attack in the pre-op room bc the nurse and anesthesiologist are just being really dismissive of her, and the Marauders get protective and intervene, and comfort reader?
This is based on irl experiences—I’m not scared of anesthesia, I’m scared of not getting properly sedated/anesthetized during procedures. I have lots of health issues and ended up with ptsd because during one of the procedures that was supposed to be ‘deep sedation’ (where you’re technically awake but you’re completely doped up and don’t feel/remember anything), they didn’t give me the proper dosage, so I was fully awake and literally sobbing and screaming and the nurses and doctors were just like ‘no we gave you the meds, you’re fine, you’re not in pain’. So now I have panic attacks when I get procedures done if I feel like i’m not being listened to, and that something similar could happen again😅
That sounds so scary babe, I'm so sorry that happened to you! Thank you for the request <3
cw: hospital, not-super-compassionate reponse by healthcare professionals, panic attack, I feel like probably a lot of this is inaccurate/against most policies so sorry about that
emt!marauders x fem!reader ♡ 573 words
“Sweetheart, sweetheart.” James’ hand is clamped over your IV, his other arm around your shoulder as he wards off the nurse. “You’re okay, my love, just—could you give her a bit of breathing room, please?”
His voice sharpens when he speaks to the nurse, and though you know that tone isn’t meant for you, it rubs against your already frazzled nerves to send hot tears tumbling down your cheeks. The two other people in the room, the nurse and anesthesiologist for your surgery, both look more harried than alarmed at your upset.
“We have to take her back—” the nurse begins to say.
A sob wrenches out of you. “Wait—wait, wait, please—”
James shushes you, pressing his forehead to your temple. “You’re okay, angel. I’ve got you, yeah? You’re okay.” You quiet, and he stamps a kiss to your wet cheek. “She said she needed a minute,” he tells the nurse. “Just give her a bit of time, she can relax if you let her.”
The door to your room opens. You begin crying anew as Sirius and Remus come toward you.
“Hey,” Sirius coos, wrapping his arms around you tightly. He’s a good deal taller than you standing by the bed, your face pressed to his chest. “What happened, baby? You were so calm just a few minutes ago.”
It’s all you can do to sniffle against his shirt. In your periphery, you can see the nurse and anesthesiologist take a step back to make room for your boyfriends. Earlier, you were told it was a rule that you were only allowed to have one guest come into the pre-op room with you; it appears that circumstances have led them to bend the rules. In quiet tones, you can hear James explaining to Remus how you’d asked for a moment to prepare yourself before being given a sedative, and how the anesthesiologist beginning to go ahead with it anyway for the sake of time had led to your fright.
Sirius must be listening, too. His grip on you shifts, his hand cupping the back of your head protectively.
“Oh, sweetheart.” Remus sounds compassionate. He takes your hand, fingers twining with yours, and James finally lets go of your IV, reassured you’re not going to try pulling it out again. “That must have been so scary. You’re alright now, though, yeah? Take some breaths.”
You try, feeling the heat of your tears on Sirius’ shirt. He rubs your back encouragingly.
“I don’t want to do this anymore,” you choke out.
“Shh, you’ll be alright,” Remus reassures you. “I understand you felt rushed, but it was only a misunderstanding. Everything can still go perfectly. Soph knows what she’s doing.”
Your anesthesiologist—Sophie, as she’d introduced herself—offers a sheepish smile.
“And,” Sirius says pointedly, “they’re going to listen to you. Okay? I promise.”
Your breaths are coming easier now. It feels good, hiding in Sirius’ front; you can almost pretend everything outside of this doesn’t exist.
“Okay,” you say tremulously.
You feel Remus raise your hand to his lips. “There’s our girl.” He kisses your knuckles. “Keep breathing like that, love. You’re doing beautifully.”
“Can you please stay?”
“Yeah,” James answers before anyone else in the room can, “they can stay.”
“Do I have to go back now?”
“No, lovie.” He rubs your leg soothingly. “I know your team’s got a schedule to keep, but I’m sure they can spare a few minutes. Take your time.”
❚ ❚ ❚ ❚ ❚ ❚ ❚ ❚ 𓍢 CHEST PAIN ( I LOVE ) yu jimin x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
♪ ❝please, I wanna see what we would be if you were by my side❞
⭢ moonstruck good luck, babe! (lowkey don’t need to read these but it might give small context to things)
↳ warnings paranoia!yn, pre debut paranoia, fluff, angst, idol/trainee au
Tumblr media
jimin always thought yn was a pretty cool girl. she was rebellious, but that just made her even more intriguing. during her training period, jimin couldn’t help but notice how yn and the two boys she was always with had a different approach to training. they were constantly separated from the other trainees, which only made jimin more curious.
her curiosity grew even more when she found out the reason they were always apart. they weren’t just training. the three of them were creating music for the artists under the company.
to be honest, she didn’t like that the company kept these three talented trainees hidden away in a basement, creating music for already established artists.
then she became one of those artists.
there was something different about yn, that was the only thought running through jimin’s mind as she glanced over the lyrics for i’m unhappy. she couldn’t ignore the nervous flutter in her chest under the girl’s steady gaze.
“you sounded good before, I don’t know why you feel like you need to push yourself even more.”
jimin scoffed, rolling her eyes as she set the lyrics down on the table. “I’m literally a singer. pushing myself is the job.”
yn hummed, a small smirk playing on her lips. “sounds exhausting.”
“so is making songs for people who barely acknowledge you exist.”
yn let out a short laugh at that, shaking her head. “you and I both know that’s not true, everyone requests me.”
it was easy, this kind of back and forth. jimin had always admired yn from afar, but it was different now that they were sitting across from each other, actually talking. yn wasn’t just a name on a credits list anymore she was real, tangible, and somehow even more intriguing up close.
but what really got to her was the way yn spoke. she wasn’t like other producers jimin had worked with. she didn’t sugarcoat things or tiptoe around egos. she was blunt, but not in a cruel way just honest.
it was refreshing. and maybe a little bit dangerous.
because jimin was starting to think she wanted more.
Tumblr media
it wasn’t like this was the first time they’d worked together. yn had been making music for the group since their debut. but this was the first time jimin felt something more, felt attracted to her.
maybe it was because yn was still technically a trainee, with her own debut coming up, yet she carried herself with the kind of confidence that made her stand out even in a room full of idols.
or maybe it was because jimin was just now allowing herself to acknowledge how drawn to her she really was. whatever the reason, she found herself making excuses to be around yn more often, finding ways to keep the conversations going after their recording sessions. she wasn’t even subtle about it.
“you wanna hang out?” yn had stared at her like she’d just asked her to commit a crime. karina almost laughed at the expression.
“what? you scared of me or something?”
“no,” yn replied quickly. then, after a pause, “maybe.” that did make jimin laugh. “c’mon. I don’t bite.”
yn hesitated, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. “why?”
jimin blinked. “why what?”
“why do you wanna hang out with me?”
jimin tilted her head, pretending to think about it. “hmm. maybe I just think you’re interesting.”
yn scoffed. “that’s a lie.”
“so what if it is?”
yn exhaled, shaking her head. “fine. but just so you know, I don’t do relationships.”
karina shrugged. “that’s perfect. I’m an idol. I don’t need the weight of a relationship either, and your band or whatever is debuting soon so it’s a win.”
and just like that, it started.
Tumblr media
their fling started as a casual thing something unspoken but understood between them. jimin was an idol, yn was debuting soon, and neither of them needed anything serious.
but casual didn’t explain the way jimin found herself lingering after studio sessions, watching yn with an intensity she couldn’t even begin to explain.
“you always stare this much?” yn asked one night, barely looking up from her laptop as she adjusted the levels on a track.
jimin scoffed, leaning back in her chair. “I’m not staring.”
yn smirked, finally turning her head to look at her. “you’re literally staring.”
jimin shrugged, feigning nonchalance. “maybe I just think you’re interesting.”
yn arched a brow. “hmm. that’s a lie.”
“so what if it is?”
yn’s shook her head as she returned her focus to the screen. “you’re not as smooth as you think you are, y’know, you’ve already pulled that on me before.”
jimin rolled her eyes but didn’t argue.
Tumblr media
late night convenience store runs became a routine. sometimes it was because jimin was craving something specific, other times it was because yn needed a break from the studio.
“ramyeon or kimbap?” jimin asked, standing in front of the shelves.
yn, crouched by the ice cream freezer, glanced up. “both.”
jimin snorted. “you eat like a guy.”
“I do not.” yn shot back, tossing a carton of ice cream into the basket.
jimin grinned. “you do, it’s not your fault babe I blame wonbin and jay.”
“shut up.”
they sat on the curb outside the store, eating in comfortable silence. the streetlights cast a soft glow around them, and for a moment, jimin let herself forget that this wasn’t something real.
that it couldn’t be real.
“you ever think about what you’d be doing if you weren’t an idol?” yn asked suddenly, voice quiet.
jimin thought for a moment, then shrugged. “I don’t know. it felt like I was training forever. this is all I know.”
yn hummed, twirling her chopsticks between her fingers. “I think I’d be a producer. like, full time. not just a trainee stuck in a basement.”
jimin frowned at that. she never liked the way yn talked about herself like she was just some hidden secret the company kept locked away. “you’ll debut soon.”
“yeah.” yn’s lips curled into something unreadable. “but even then, I think i’ll always be more useful behind the scenes.”
jimin didn’t like that answer.
she nudged yn’s knee with her own. “you’re gonna be big, you know.”
yn gave her a skeptical look. “oh yeah?”
“yeah.” jimin grinned. “and then you’ll be the one barely acknowledging the people making your songs.”
yn laughed. “you suck at pep talks, and you know I would never letting anyone anyone but me and the boys touch our tracks.”
Tumblr media
jimin just smiled, but she meant what she said.
it was small moments like these quiet, intimate, real that made it hard for jimin to pretend this was just a fling.
but she knew better than to cross that line.
except… sometimes it felt like they already had.
like when yn would adjust jimin’s mic during recordings, her fingers grazing the side of her neck just a little too long.
or when they were packed in a van after a late night session, and yn leaned her head against jimin’s shoulder like it was the most natural thing in the world.
or when they were watching a variety show one night, and wonyoung popped up on screen.
“isn’t she so pretty?” jimin said, not thinking much of it.
yn tensed. it was subtle, but jimin noticed.
“she’s okay,” yn muttered. “i’m more of an irene girl.”
jimin raised a brow. “ohhh, you’re into older women.”
yn smirked, turning her head to look at her. “yeah. that’s why i’m hanging with you.”
jimin choked on air. “shut up.”
yn just laughed, leaning back against the couch with that same confident ease that always drove jimin a little insane.
it was in moments like these when jimin’s heart skipped a beat, when she found herself wanting to reach out and pull yn closer that she realized she was in trouble.
she was catching feelings.
and it scared her.
she knew what yn had told her from the start. she knew. but that didn’t stop her from wanting.
and that was dangerous.
so a few days before paranoia’s debut under sm, jimin made a choice.
she ended it.
yn was quiet for a long moment, then she simply nodded. “okay.”
but jimin saw the way she tensed the way her fingers curled just slightly, like she was bracing for impact. and suddenly, jimin was remembering the only other time she’d seen yn react like that.
jimin swallowed the lump in her throat, forcing a small smile. “good luck on your debut.”
yn nodded again, and jimin turned, leaving the room before she could change her mind.
the second she was alone, the tears finally fell.
if only jimin had just told yn how she felt.
because fortunately no, unfortunately  yn felt the same way.
maybe she should’ve just been honest.
and maybe then, her tears wouldn’t have seen a single day.
FFYL MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Growing up you'd always been excited to find out who your soulmate was.
No matter who you were there was someone out there destined for you. Platonic or not, it was a special relationship that connected people together, whatever circumstances it may be. It gave you a lot of comfort to know that at least someone would end up caring for you on that high of a degree. At least that's what you initially hoped.
At around six years old you could faintly remember the sentences but you were confident that ‘Brat’ was brought up many times. Words like disrespectful, arrogant, too self centered and a bunch of other synonyms for cocky was amidst. Though it shifted to some other words eventually, often you'd see during your time in middle school that he was very strong, determined and particularly a sentence that stuck out to you.
'It can't be helped, his pride is most important. I need to be strong like him.’
It seems like this person has a sense of understanding of this soulmate of yours. From the dots you connected he looks to be very goal oriented to the point of not caring if he's brash or not. But honestly that didn't matter to you because his temper and 'meanness' was prevalent above else and you don't think you have the balls because first of all you don't have balls yourself, second of all the expression no balls stay true to your character.
As the youngest daughter of a trillion dollar company you'd think there would be nothing to be scared of. However after being kidnapped for ransom more times than you'd prefer and treated as lesser than your siblings. It's not weird that you became not so confident and fearful unlike your so-called other half who seems to be the opposite.
That's why you were actually sent to a school which required top facilities with heroes and heroes in training to ensure a safer environment for your education. What better place than U.A itself? It was a good balance of peace, by not being kidnapped, and still seeing the outside world, by not being locked to an area with higher security than the world leader itself. All was good, you were gonna coast through school in business class with your small friend group.
Not looking to expand since all your other classmates cared more about your status and what a relationship with you can bring. It was going extremely well…. until it wasn't.
Rewinding about five minutes ago, after class the teacher informed the students that they could decide who to do the project with on 'expenditures. Slowly everyone turned to you some subtle others not so much and yeah that's how you ended up in your current predicament. Being the first to pack your bags and exit like you were the flash to hurrying down the stairs you swiftly turned around the next set of steps to avoid the crowd following you to team up.
It was embarrassing enough to be falling in the first place, it was even more so when there were two other students walking up on the other side. Staring at you as you fell, it was like everything was moving in slow motion. Their look of confusion to surprised looks as you hit the ground.
BAM!
"Ow." you voiced in major pain.
"OH MY GOD! ARE YOU OKAY??" the red head would scream veering in your direction until.
"FUCK!!!"
The blonde yelled out as he fell on the stairs itself, holding onto the exact place where you were hurt the most.
"Bakugou! What happened man— wait."
Turning to look at you then to his friend he seemed to be in thought. The ruby eyed one on the other hand looked like he wanted to kill you. Like it was your fault that…..that…oh.
As he eloquently said so himself,
fuck.
— thinking about lucy and wasteland pollen…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
— warnings: wasteland!reader. fem!reader. nsfw content. so mdni.
Tumblr media
lucy is new to everything up here.
so naturally, she doesn’t think twice before bounding into a field of strange-looking flowers, her curiosity leading her straight to them.
“would you look at that?” she says, crouching down to inspect a cluster of golden petals swaying gently in the breeze. you don’t even have time to warn her before her boot lands on something with a soft crunch. the motion releases a faint hiss below, and suddenly a shimmering cloud of yellow spores billows up around her. lucy only waves a hand through it, laughing. “huh, weird plants!” she remarks, completely and utterly unfazed, oblivious to the danger.
“why did you stop?” she calls over her shoulder when she notices you lingering a few feet back, hesitant to follow. “don’t tell me you’re scared of a little flower dust!”
the golden dust of spores clings to her jumpsuit, her hair, her skin. every part of lucy seems coated in them, yet she doesn’t appear worried in the slightest.
instead, she frowns at you.
“you’re acting weird. did i do something?” lucy asks, unaware of the risk she’s already unleashed. the spores are likely already in both of your systems, setting something irreversible into motion.
lucy has always been so unaware of her effect on you. even now, she seems to find a way of making everything harder for you.
you’re the one who has to decide to leave the field and get her somewhere safer, (once again getting both of you to safety as per usual) but even then, it’s impossible not to notice the little things about her: the way the flush begins to creep up her neck. how her fingers nervously fidget with the straps of her pack. or the way, when you sit down at your makeshift shelter for the night, she keeps shifting closer to you without even realizing it
the silence stretches on until lucy, never one to hold back her curiosity, finally breaks it: “why is it so hot in here? Is it just me? Is that…normal?” she asks, tugging at the collar of her jumpsuit, exposing a sliver of skin that feels suddenly too intimate to look at.
you force yourself to turn away, to focus on literally anything else, even as heat pools in your stomach.
“maybe it’s the air circulation,” she muses aloud, her fingers still working at her jumpsuit. “vaults had better airflow! this place is like a furnace!”
lucy pauses, then glances at you again. “your face is all red too!”
she leans in, her eyes locking onto yours. the space between your bodies shrinks. suddenly all you can think about is how close she is, how her heat radiates against you, how easy it would be to reach for her and-
“lucy, it’s not the air!” you blurt, scrambling back with a voice that betrays how strained you feel.
lucy only frowns in confusion.
“what do you mean?” she asks. “is this one of those things i should’ve read about in that wasteland survival guide you made me throw out?” her brows knit together as she stares at you, the weight of the situation still not sinking in.
“lucy, stop!” you finally snap, the sharpness of your voice cutting through the haze that’s currently clouding both of your thoughts.
“why?” she demands, louder this time. “oh, gee, are you sick? are we sick? what’s happening?” her hands flutter in front of her, restless and unsure, and you have to catch her wrists to still her before she completely spirals.
“it’s not sickness!” you manage hoarsely. “it’s something in the flowers outside. it- it does things to people,”
lucy doesn’t miss a beat. “what kind of things?” she asks, and the innocence in her voice sends a fresh wave of heat crawling up your neck.
“it’s like…a chemical reaction!” you try. “a really strong one”
she blinks at you, her expression still painfully blank. “like hallucinations? oh my- is this a drug thing? because i’m not-”
“not hallucinations, lucy!” you interrupt her. “it’s…sexual.”
she stares at you, her mouth opening, then closing again. “sexual?”
you close your eyes, breathing deeply in an attempt to stay calm. “it’s an aphrodisiac. it makes people…” you trail off, unsure how to finish the sentence without your voice breaking.
her lips part in a silent ‘oh’.
lucy shifts her weight awkwardly, her cheeks flushed. “so, is that why i feel…kind of weird?” she asks, looking down at herself. her hands fidget at her sides. “because i thought it was just the heat, but my chest feels tight and i-” she cuts herself off abruptly, her wide eyes darting up to meet yours. “wait, do you feel that too?”
you grit your teeth. “it’s the spores!” you say sharply, refusing to answer her question directly.
lucy sits in silence for a moment, mumbling ‘okay, okay’ under her breath. “this is fine!” she blurts out then, pacing to her corner of the room like she can outpace her own discomfort. she tugs at the zipper of her jumpsuit, pulling it down halfway to reveal the damp fabric of the tank top clinging to her skin.
“it’s just a little warm, that’s all! we’ve been through worse, right?”
“it’s temporary,” you mutter, more to yourself than to her. “it’ll wear off. we just need to wait it out!”
but lucy clearly doesn’t know how to wait something like this out. she doesn’t stop talking once, her voice a nervous stream of energy. “it’s just, like, a fever, right?” she says, forcing a laugh that’s far too loud. “i’ve had fevers before! this is fine. totally fine!”
you don’t respond. you can’t.
your jaw is clenched too tight, and your focus is entirely on not looking at her: not at the way she keeps fidgeting with the fabric of her suit around her thighs, or the way her chest rises and falls with shallow, uneven breaths, or the way the flush spreads down her neck, blooming across her sweaty collarbones.
the air feels thicker by the second, stifling and heavy. you’re biting the inside of your cheek bloody and digging your nails into your palms, desperate for anything to ground yourself, anything to distract from the heat coursing through you, from the way your body throbs in time with your heartbeat.
lucy, who’s the one who got you into this mess in the first place, catches you staring at her. her breath hitches for a moment, her lips parting slightly. “are you okay?” she asks. “you’re being really quiet,”
“i’m fine!” It comes out harsher than you intend, and you turn away, pretending to rummage through your pack. your hands are shaking too much to do anything useful, but at least it gives you something to focus on besides her.
lucy doesn’t let it go. of course she doesn’t.
you hear the sound of her boots scraping against the floor as she stands and crosses the room, and before you can tell her to stay put, she’s kneeling in front of you. “hey,” she says, her hand hovering hesitantly near your shoulder.
“don’t!” you bark, jerking away before she can touch you.
her hand drops immediately, her face falling. “i wasn’t- i’m sorry! i didn’t mean to-”
“it’s not your fault!” you interrupt apologetically. “it’s just…”
you trail off. you want her, that’s what it is. you’ve been wanting her, long before she decided to step onto the petals and release spores that would only make matters worse.
now that they’re in your system, you’re hyper-aware of all the things you didn’t notice before: each breath lucy takes rings in your ears, the scent of her lingering with how close she’s sitting. hell, even the sweat that’s dripping from the side of her neck seems to draw you in.
lucy sits back on her heels, studying your face carefully. “it’s bad, isn’t it? the spores?”
you can smell her from here: sweat, heat, and something unmistakably sweet beneath it all. it only makes it harder to think. you swallow hard, nodding. “yeah. it’s bad.”
she hesitates, then asks the question you’ve been dreading. “is it bad for you because of me?”
you don’t answer right away, but when your eyes meet hers they seem to give her all the confirmation she needs. lucy, who’s very clearly not immune to the effects of the spores, doesn’t seem to fight them as hard as you are.
“i can feel it too, you know?” she murmurs. “it’s like this…heat. it won’t go away,” her cheeks flush deeper and she looks down. “i keep telling myself not to think about it, but-” her fingers twitch against the floor. you clench your jaw, forcing yourself to hold back, even as every fiber of your being screams at you to close the space between you.
“we can’t!”
lucy leans in. “why not?”
the dam breaks.
she freezes for half a second when you surge forward, only to melt into you moments later. your lips crash against hers, hard and desperate, and her back hits the wall with a soft thud.
her arms instinctively come up around your neck, pulling you closer. she makes a soft, startled sound against your mouth, but it quickly shifts into something hungrier, something raw.
lucy maclean, you only vaguely realize as her tongue slides past your lips, is moaning right into your mouth and you aren’t even touching her yet.
her fingers tangle in your hair, tugging just enough to make you shiver as the kiss deepens. the heat between your legs is unbearable now, a steady thrum that pulses through your veins, demanding release.
neither of you can stop the way your bodies move together, hips rolling forward in a frantic rhythm. there’s no relief there, in the way your hips meet halfway, only need, frustration growing with every futile attempt to grind yourself against her.
and yet you physically cannot stop.
it’s almost embarrassing how fast it sends you over the edge once you finally stumble to the dusty ground together and find a good angle to grind against each other, one that actually works.
it only takes a few lazy ruts of your hips until you’re cumming beneath her, rutting through the haze of pleasure. you’re just conscious enough to feel lucy tense up above you too, shaking and trembling with the force of her own orgasm, with her head thrown back and her hair sticking to the sweat on her face.
still, you can’t seem to stop.
a part of you expected this to be the end of the aching throb between your legs and the heat flashes, yet the orgasm only seems to make things worse: like an itch, only intensifying once it’s been scratched.
lucy, seemingly struggling with the same thing, feels greedy when she starts humping your leg all over again, whining: “can’t stop. m’sorry. i can’t stop!” as she drags her crotch over your thigh.
you can feel how damp she feels there, how hot and wet. at this point, you don’t care to think rationally about this. you’ve already crossed the point of no return, so you might as well make use of the…situation.
she is ever wetter than you’d expected from what you felt through her jumpsuit already (you both are): once you’ve peeled the fabric off her damp skin and reach between her legs for the first time, you’re taken aback by the sheer amount of arousal that has pooled there.
lucy is so wet, impatiently humping your fingers until two of them slide into her easily.
her own fingers curl around your wrist, moving it so she’s fucking herself on you.
two easily turn to three, her body gladly accommodating the stretch. and even then, even as the second orgasm crashes over her in record time, lucy is still panting and begging for more.
you know it’s the pollen. you know there’s no way to fully satisfy the urge until it wears off eventually. but how are you supposed to turn lucy down when your own body is aching for her and she’s quite literally begging for more? when she’s gushing down your wrists, her walls clamping down against your fingers so tight it’s hard to move?
of course, lucy gets you off too. you doubt you could’ve gone much longer without feeling her touch.
truthfully, you have no idea if she knows anything about this or if she’s going on some primal instinct caused by the spores.
either way, you’re in no position to question her when she aligns herself with you once she’s gotten you out of your clothes too. when she grinds against you with no restrictions in the way, clutching your hand tightly in her own to somehow ground herself. when her slick rubs against yours and you feel her cunt throbbing and her clit pulsing against your own until you cum with a desperate cry of lucy’s name.
it’s not surprising that neither of you had enough of the other just yet, with lucy already one orgasm ahead.
so she spins you around so you’re on all fours and puts her mouth on you from behind, lapping up your arousal.
her name echos through the night but you’re far too into this to care about the potential dangers you could be attracting. besides, if you die with lucy’s tongue inside of you, it’ll be worth it.
“oh my god!” you cry out, arching your back. she hums breathlessly, her hands on your ass and her lips closing around your clit as they suck.
it’s hours later, after she’s made you cum one final time on her fingers until you were gushing around them, that you both come to your senses again.
lucy is sprawled out on the floorboards by your side, staring at the ceiling with wide, unblinking eyes. her chest heaves with uneven breaths, inhaling the heavy scent of sweat and sex around you.
“oh,” she says finally, hands folded over her stomach. “oh wow,”
while the adrenaline is still buzzing faintly in your veins, there’s something sobering about the cool ground against your hot skin and the way lucy hasn’t moved except for the occasional blinks.
“so,” lucy mumbles eventually. “that was the spores then..”
you let that linger, unsure if you want to tell her that it wasn’t just the spores. at least not for you.
“well,” she chuckles softly. “at least we won’t have to deal with that kind of pollen again! lesson learned!”
You really write really good stories ✨👌.although I'm already quite addicted to it lol, I literally go offline for 3 days for work and when I come back to read in 10 minutes I've already read everything🫠. btw the "everything will be okay" plot is really good and I'm WILD with Earthspark stories (it became my favorite series and there are almost no Earthspark stories🤧)
I’m just having fun writing my nonsense
Tumblr media
Give Up/Give In Pt 13
TF Earthspark Megatron x Reader
• They’re trying to help. He knows it. Appreciates it. Even if he wants to growl. Just wanting a peaceful meal with you, a chance to sit and talk alone. Not realizing Dorothy and the kids would try to help. Alex had cooked for him, and Hashtag and Twitch had found an enormous plaid blanket to spread out under the tree in the yard. Jawbreaker and the others had found old holiday decorations and bit of broken glass and strung them up in the branches so the sun dapples the grass and blanket in a kaleidoscope of blues and greens. As much as he appreciates the effort, none of it was by his hand for you and it bothers him. You, though? You’re smiling as you tip your head back to look at the tree. “Is this alright?” He asks.
• “It’s gorgeous.” And it is, the kids working to help Megatron spreading warm through you. Even if you’d heard Hashtag whisper something about ‘Team Romance’ to Twitch. The two seeming to not understand that you’re a human and Megatron is, well, Megatron. Completely incompatible, but it is sweet. “I love it.” Easing down on the blanket, you watch Megatron lower himself across from you, still towering over you as he leans his arms on his knees.
• Nudging the tiny basket of food closer to you, he reaches for an energon cube while you make a plate. Wishes he could mass shift, but it’s too risky with Starscream and the other Seekers at large. Can’t leave himself and you vulnerable. “What else do you love?” Your little face tips up, expressive face surprised by the question and he likes that you’re so easy to read, that he doesn’t have to wonder about your motives. “Tell me,” he adds gently, trying to not demand, but he wants to know everything about you. Who you are. What you like.
• Shoulders lifting in a shrug, you push your food around on your plate. “Not much to tell. Honestly, I just work and go home. Pretty boring.” And sad now that you think about it. No real personal life. A job you don’t care for, but can’t quit because there’s so few prospects in a small town. Too scared to try for a bigger city, so you’d gotten stuck. Still are.
• Venting, he reaches to tip your chin up. Making you meet his optics. “What do you like to do? What dreams keep you going?” He asks, voice taking on a wistful edge. Because dreams seldom go the way planned. His dreams of a better world, of freedom had led to a war that had ravaged his home. Reaching up to touch his servo, you offer him a smile.
• “I played violin as a kid. Wasn’t great at it, but I had fun,” you admit, eyes closing. “I used to dream I could be great. That I could play and people would care.” It sounds so silly. You hadn’t wanted to be rich or famous, just wanted to play well enough the music would make people feel something real. “I doubt i even remember how to play anymore.” Laughing softly, you gently push his servo away.
• “You’ll play for me.” It’s not a request, it’s a demand, but you still smile for him. Wants to hear you play, to lose yourself in something that makes you happy. Desperately wants to see you happy and relaxed. Spark warming when you tell him okay. And you take turns sharing things. He sketches out the war and his mistakes in the broadest strokes he can, not wanting you to know just how awful he is. But needing you to know that side of him is there. Listens to you talk about your family in return, offering him little glimpses of who you are. It’s dark by the time he remembers his deal. That he’d promised to take you home. That home isn’t with him.
• “Are you ready to go?” Heart speeding as he plants a palm on the ground and stands, you want to say no. To ask to stay. To take up even more of his time, all of it he’ll allow. You like talking to him, listening to that rumbling voice. Like the warmth of his big servos when he touches your arm or cheek. Like him. But know this can’t go anywhere, that eventually he’ll get tired of your clinging, so you make yourself nod and smile like you’re okay when you’re not.
• Transforming and dropping his ramp, he can feel you walk inside his alt mode. A little hand brushing a wall as you look around his cargo hold and he feels when you hesitate. Making him remember that he’s not had time to clean up, that your blood is still there. “It’s alright,” he says softly, closing his ramp. “You’re safe here.” And you move through him lingering just inside the cockpit while he waits on you to find somewhere to settle. “Sit anywhere.”
• “Sorry,” you murmur, slipping into one of the pilot seats. Because it’s still weird that he’s this giant aircraft now and that you can just walk around inside him. Can he see you or is he just feeling you moving around? Isn’t that weird to him? Sinking into the seat, you look at all the dials and controls and feel a momentary twist of the surreal. Because this is still Megatron. Different, but still him. When the rotors start up, you touch the harness wondering if you need to strap in.
• “You’re shaking, little one.” He can feel you trembling as your little fingers ghost over his harness, touching the yoke when he shifts it. Nervous and wide eyed. “Are you sure this is what you want?” To go home instead of staying with him? Safe where he can watch over you? And your fingers grip his harness. Hates that you’re so frightened right now, because this isn’t a threat he can destroy or attack.
• No. It’s not what you want at all. Frozen, you want to be greedy. To not go back to the real world. To steal a little more time. Listen to him and ask him questions, because what you’ve seen so far doesn’t mesh up with the stories you’ve heard. He’s not a monster, not cruel or vicious. He’s gentler than you’d expected. “I want to stay,” you whisper, the words so soft there’s no way he can hear them over the sound of his rotors, but they slow and stop. Hear him rumble around you. “I want to stay with you.”
Rant about how I literally manifested discovering shifting..
Tumblr media
I’m going to be extremely honest, I was literally THE weirdest kid growing up; I had peculiar interests and rarely got along with people from my class.
I was also SEVERELY interested in frozen at some point, mind you I was about.. six? if my memory serves my right— I remember lucid dreaming about the first movie, it was extremely vivid but i’m pretty sure it wasn’t a shift.
So! I was wandering around in the cold- I remember feeling scared, looking around everywhere; the mountain was painted white, it was dark, the only way I could go was upwards toward the top of the mountain or downwards towards the bottom, it was almost pitch black that way— I didn’t know what to do?? I mean— I was six.
I vaguely remember looking around to see if I was fortunate enough to find someone who could help me.. but also, as a six year old you’re pretty curious. So I decided to venture my way towards the peak of the mountain before I stumbled upon— yes! you guessed it right. Elsa’s sister and her boyfriend. (This is weird I know, but stay with me.)
They seemed concerned— pretty sure they were wondering “why the heck is there a six year old out in the freezing cold, where are her parents, it’s literally freezing out, she’s going to get a cold, etc etc.”
So I glanced at them for a few moments— I don’t really think it had hit me yet that I was Lucid dreaming about Frozen, before I could say or do anything at all; Kristoff spoke up and offered to take me to the nearest town (or rather, demanded me to come with them because they were sure as hell not going to leave a six year old girl out in the cold.)
Mind you, they spoke in english + I wasn’t exactly fluent at the time, so I just stood there in disbelief for a few moments.
Then I woke up, sweating— I sat up, contemplating what in the world had just happened and THAT’S when it hit me, I lucid dreamt about my favorite movie in the entire world and it wasn’t REAL 💔💔 I started crying like the little baby I was for a good hour, My mom came in thinking something had happened to me, but I kind of just asked her
“Why isn’t frozen real!??”
This would be a question that would be haunt me, being repeated again and again in different fonts.
Timeskip to around 2019– If you thought my obsession with Frozen was concerning, you should have SEEN me during my miraculous ladybug era.
I was completely and utterly in LOVE with that dumb show, in such a way that my friends would get concerned, my sister would get furious when I talked about it (because trust me, i’d talk NON-STOP), my parents kind of perhaps questioned if I was.. ill. (which I was..! but not the point) but through my eyes; It was my miraculous show against the world.
..It got to the point where I assumed I was Marinette; i’d constantly compare this one crush I had on a guy to Adrien and rant about it in my sparkly blue diary, I kid you not. I could write pages about this. literal essays. I’d constantly write about the same topic again and again, claiming that I was Marinette, claiming that i’d one day get a Miraculous, claiming that my crush was quite literally adrien, daydreaming about the fact that one day, I promised myself that I would travel to paris and obtain a miraculous.
Yeah, I was— exceedingly weird.
Then the question came up again, every single day— I think I was half-expecting that one day; my ten year old self would wake up in the miraculous universe, I didn’t think about anything but these two questions
“Why isn’t miraculous real?”
“Why can’t I just wake up and be Marinette— i’m pretty much her anyways.”
and a wish.
“I wished miraculous was real.”
I cannot emphasize the AMOUNT of times I asked myself why the show wasn’t real and WISHED it was. This went on for about a year straight, I’d just constantly wish that miraculous was real, prayed over and over again that one day i’d wake up in that universe; that i’d at least be friends with Marinette— that I would have a miraculous of my own and help her “save” the world.
Thenn.. I stumbled upon THE post
“It’s 4 AM, I just woke up from a shift of 8 months to hogwarts, I want to go back— let me leave.”
Safe to say, I literally manifested my way here. I’m pretty sure if I told that little girl that it is possible to be a miraculous holder or elsa’s best friend, she’d be sure to make it happen, she’d be sure to believe in it—Now I just have to become the little girl I was once. The little girl who’d believe without a doubt that she could be anything as long as she wished for it hard enough.
why does your best friend’s brother have to be so hot??
☆ suna rintarou x f!reader (pt.4) ☆
links to pt.1 pt.2 pt.3
cw: porn with feelings, major confessions, lots of fluff, oral sex both m and f receiving, face sitting, suna has feelings.
Tumblr media
the silence of the kitchen felt deafening. you and rintarou sat on the stools of the kitchen island counter while his sister stood at the other side, staring at you two. your legs swing, dangling off the tall stool with anxiousness filling your stomach.
“so… you two… have been-“ the younger suna starts.
“ami i-“ her brother speaks first, cutting her off
“shut your ugly mouth rintarou.” she scolds him. you stay silent.
“we literally look the same??” he puts his arms up in defense.
“rin, please stop talking…” you mumble to the middle blocker next to you. he just sighs and slumps in his seat.
ami takes a few breaths before speaking.
“i’m not mad okay…” she fidgets with her manicured nails while she talks.
“i just wish you didn’t feel the need to like, hide it from me, y’know?” she sighs. you two just nod. you felt awful, you two were the people she trusted most in this world.
“you’re right-“ you finally gain the courage to speak, but immediately getting cut off.
“not done talking” she scolds, saying your name in a warning tone. you pipe down.
your best friend’s eyes go to you. for such a cute girl, she sure knew how to make you tense up just from a look. her face softens suddenly.
“so, why did you feel the need to hide it from me? we both know you’re probably the only person i’d be comfortable with even dating my brother.” ami has a sort of frown on your face. it makes you sad the fact you hurt her.
“well we aren’t really even dating…”
“we’re not?” the brown haired man looks at you.
your eyes snap to rintarou.
“no, rin, we only hooked up like four times-“
“FOUR TIMES? it’s only been two weeks?- sorry my bad.” ami puts a hand over her mouth to quiet herself.
“well, yeah, but i was hoping-“
“is this really the time to talk about this right now?” you whisper to the man. he shuts up real quick. you look back to your best friend, giving her a genuine look.
“i’m sorry i hid it from you, ami. i guess we- well i at least was just scared you’d hate me or something. i never intended to lie or hurt you, we just got kinda caught up in it.” you honestly admit. she just nods, then glares at her older brother. “and you” she seethes. his eyes widen at her sudden switch up.
he may be her brother, but he's also a guy, and you are her best friend.
“my best friend? really, rintarou?” her arms are crossed over her chest, eyes boring into her brother’s head. rin sits up straight.
“look, i apologize for not telling you, truly, but i’m not sorry that i did it.” he says, looking back over to you. you drop your face into your hands. the man you loved was such an idiot.
ami sighs and speaks again after a few moments, making your head perk back up.
“i’m not upset. plus, it would be kinda hypocritical of me to be mad at you two.” she finishes, looking at you.
oh right. the miya twin…
rin looks between the two of you.
“um, what do you mean?” he has a curious but anxious look on his face, brows furrowed.
“you wanna tell him or should i?” his sister looks to you in consolance. you point at her. “this is your business, girl. all you”
she lets out an annoyed sigh before speaking, shifting uncomftorably between her feet.
“i’ve kinda been… talking to osamu since i graduated, but you can’t be mad becuase you’re also literally fucking my best friend soo…” ami says all in one breath. rintarou has an unreadable expression on his face.
“well, obviously.” he scoffs. both of your eyes widen.
“you knew?!” she yells in a suprised tone. he just nods.
“well no shit, he’s the one who told me to invite you to the party in the first place. plus i saw your name pop up in his phone when we went to lunch last week.” her brother explains. you just sit back and watch this uncomfortable situation unfold.
he looks at you. “you knew too?” he casually asks. you nod.
“well obviously, she’s my best friend.”
“hear that rin, my best friend” ami sticks her tongue out at her brother. you smile at the shift of the room, going from all serious to a sudden playfulness, the way ami always knew how to do.
“now go to your room or something, i wanna talk to her alone.” she points at the stairs for her brother to leave. he rolls his eyes, patting your head before leaving the room.
a few seconds pass, and she takes his seat, sitting next to you. she swirls the stool around to face you, voice dropping to a hushed tone.
“so… do you love him?” she curiously asks, with genuine curiosity.
“do you love osamu?”
“shut up, i asked first.”
“i do” you say without a second of thought. she just smiles. all anger from before subsiding into genuine happiness.
“you’re still gonna hangout with me though, right?” she asks, back to fidgeting with her fingers. you roll your eyes.
“of course i am. i’m still sleeping in your room everynight till i leave-“ you start.
“oh c’mon, she doesn’t get to hog you!” rintarou yells from the stairs, eavesdropping on your conversation. you both glare at him.
“no one asked you, rin!” she yells. you both laugh at the way he storms back up the stairs.
she'd be having a talk with him later too.
you talk about everything. osamu, the party, your plans in the next week before you leave.
you were relieved, your guilty conscience completely lifted from having to keep this secret from your best friend. you never expected her to approve, but she was happy both her best friend and her brother are able to find comfort.
plus she knew he had a fat crush on you the way he was staring at you the entire party the night before. she was drunk, but not stupid. her brother was so obvious. maybe it was just a suna thing.
but the thought that you gave him all those marks weeks ago made her shiver. gross.
Tumblr media
there was only three days left until you go back. you’ve spent your last days going on mall trips, to the movies, taking walks in the park with your best friend. (and rintarou when he refused to stay at home, saying it was for your guys’ ‘protection’)
he just wanted to spend as much time near you before you left.
“stop moving” you warn rintarou, placing the sheet face mask onto his constantly jerking head.
“it’s cold…” he complains. you just roll your eyes.
“you’re the one who wanted to do this.”
“well yeah, because you were doing it.” he pouts. you giggle at him, your own skincare face mask soaking on your face.
ami left for osamu’s about an hour before, but not before giving you guys a ‘do NOT fuck’ warning. you both just smiled and nodded your heads.
“you’re cute.” you give him a small peck on his lips, one of the only parts that the skin care mask wasn’t covering. his hand reaches for your own, lacing his fingers with yours.
“be my girlfriend.” he softly says, his eyes meeting yours. you were glad this sheet mask was covering your face, or he’d see how flustered you were.
“what?”
“do you not want to?” he asks, a hint of concern in his voice.
“well of course i do, but i-“
“be my girlfriend then. please?” he squeezes your hand. if your face wasn’t covered he’d be holding it.
it was kind of silly the seriousness of this conversation compared to the way you guys had literal sheets on your face.
“i live three hours away, rin.”
“so what? i have a car. i’ll drive down every weekend to see you, baby.” he assures you. his eyes read nothing but honesty and love.
“i couldn’t ask you to do that… you're so busy with volleyball”
“you wouldn’t. i want to. if it was up to me i’d keep you here. or even go with you." he chuckles, "i'll pay for your train rides to come to my games, i’m graduating in two years, we’ll figure it out.” you could see his small smile. his fingers gently brushing over your knuckles.
“okay” you nod.
“okay?” his eyes light up.
“yes” you laugh, he stands up from his chair, leaning down to kiss you, but you two couldn’t do much with these stupid sheet masks.
“take this shit off i wanna kiss you” he rips his own off his face making you pout.
“you’re supposed to leave them on for ten minutes”
“i don’t care, they were like a dollar each” he scoffs, gently peeling your own soft wet mask from your face. he was the one who went into the makeup store with you earlier to purchase them in the first place.
“what a money waster.” you smile up at him. the skincare residue making your and his skin shiny. he couldn’t lie, your guys’ skin looks fantastic.
he grabs your face, finally giving you a real kiss. your lips meet sweetly. you’ve kissed several times by now, but this time was different. it was full of tenderness and love instead of the usual rushed tension.
it was like you have all the time in the world.
his hand reaches in your hair, deepening the kiss. you sigh when his tongue rolls together with your own. your hands plant at his chest, you could feel his muscles through his shirt.
he snakes his free hand around your waist, bringing you to press against him.
you felt your panties dampen when his hand slides down from your waist, to your hips, to your ass.
“so…touchy” you mumble between kisses. he just smiles.
“you make me like this” he replies, gently biting your lip.
your hands go up to tangle in his own hair, tugging slightly to tease him. he just groans.
“c’mere, baby.” he sits on his bed, reaching his arms out to you. you join him, hopping onto his lap and kissing his face.
“wow, your skin is really smooth…” your hand goes to gently caress his face. he leans into your palm like a cat, making you giggle.
his eyes never leave yours, so full of sincerity and love.
“want you to touch me, rin.” you bring his hand to your lower stomach. he just chuckles.
“now who’s the needy one?” he mumbles, kissing you again before his hand slips into the waistband of your pants into your panties, his middle and index fingers finding your clit.
“this wet just from kissing?” he chuckles at you, making you pout.
“m’sorry” you whisper, stuttering when his fingers rub gently at your sensitive bud.
“don’t be sorry, pretty. it’s hot.” he smiles, pulling you back to shimmy your cute pants down your hips. you help him, throwing them on the floor of his room.
you’re left in your his oversized t shirt and your panties, moving to sit on him on the bed, but he stops you. you give him a questioning look.
“wanna try something.” he lays himself on his bed, propping himself up on his elbows to look at you.
“want you to sit on my face.” he cheekily smiles, your eyes widen, but your insides tingle at the thought of it.
“i don’t wanna hurt you…” you nervously gulp. he scoffs.
“i could lift three of you if i needed to. i’ll be fine, sweetheart.” he assures. you reluctantly climb on the bed, still a little scared you were going to suffocate him. like he reads your mind, he speaks.
“if dying by your pussy is where i’m meant to die, it’ll be an honorable death.” this makes you roll your eyes, peeling off your underwear. before you could throw them to the side, rin snatches them, tucking them in the drawer next to his bed.
“hey!” you scold him. he rolls his eyes.
“need something to remind me of you.” his smug smirk made you want to slap him, but also want to kiss him. you opted for the second option. your tongue’s swirling together in a needy messy kiss.
he pulls back, laying himself back on his bed. you let out a breath, crawling up to him and nervously straddling his face with your thighs, facing his legs.
you gasp when he pulls your hips down to seat yourself on his face, his hot tongue swiping over your slick cunt. your face screws into tight pleasure as his tongue prods into your tight hole, making you grind down into his face.
his strong hands hold your hips down as if you were hoping to escape. your eyes flutter open while his tounge switches between playing with your clit and proding into your weeping hole.
your mouth waters at the sight of his erection begging to be released through his sweatpants. poor guy was grinding up into nothing. you lean down, reaching to rub him through his pants, making him groan into your pussy.
you hurriedly push his pants down his hips, along with his boxers. he was so tall you couldn’t reach your mouth to his cock in this position, making you pout. so instead you take your hand and stroke his veiny cock, his moans being muffled by him sucking on your clit.
you pump his cock, using the slick of the precum beading at his tip to lubricate him. his hips stutter into your hands as your finger runs over his tip, the slit of his dick leaking precum over your fingers. fuck how badly you wanted to lick it up.
you moan when his tongue explores your soaking pussy, your hands continuing to tease his raging cock. the tip bright pink from all your teasing.
“feels so good, baby, fuck!” you whine, your hips instinctively rutting into his face. he moans in acknowledgment, urging you to keep touching him while he eats you out like you were his last meal. his grip on your hips never faltering.
your wrist starts to ache from the constant pumping, but the pure pleasure of him licking and sucking at you was all you could think about.
this position was so fucking good. the way he had nothing to do but eat you out until you were trying to lift yourself off of his face, the pleasure becoming too much.
he pulls you back down in an instant, your constant squirming earning you a harsh suck on your clit, making you whine.
“rinn-“ you mewl, your thighs starting to quiver around his head. you’re panting, the strokes on his cock getting quicker and messier.
“f-fuck… keep doing that and m’gonna cum, baby.” he groans into your wetness. you let go, hands gripping at his abs as you feel yourself become undone.
your hips grind uncontrollably into rintarou’s mouth, heat pooling into your lower belly as you feel yourself clench around nothing, the feeling of him suckling at your clit making you cum all over his mouth.
you let out moans of his name, panting before finally moving off of him to let him breathe.
you move yourself between his legs, looking up at him. his lower face was covered in your cum and he was breathing heavily. you licked your lips at the sight, bringing your attention back to his raging cock.
you smile up at him, giving his member small pecks, making his breath stutter.
“want you to cum in my mouth, rin.” you look up at him through your lashes, tongue delving into the slit of his head, making his hips sputter and hands grip in your hair.
you giggle, swirling your tongue around the head before taking him into your mouth, bobbing your head up and down. he lets out dirty groans and grunts, his grip in your hair only getting tighter and tighter.
he knew he was gonna cum soon, already being so worked up from you jerking him off before. that along with you cumming all over his face just a few moments before.
his hips jerk off the bed with a loud groan when you take him as deep as your throat allows you, hands gripping into his strong thighs. you moan when his salty cum shoots down your throat, practically filling your mouth. you swallow it all, only a dribble falling past your lips, swollen and wet.
once he settled, you pulled off of him with a small pop, a string of cum and spit connecting your lips and his cock. you could feel his piercing gaze on you, his grip on your hair turned into soothing strokes.
you hold back a giggle at the way he looked at you with full admiration in his eyes. like you were the most precious thing he'd ever seen. he pulls you up, immediately connecting his lips with yours. the way you both tasted each others releases made you sigh into his mouth.
you laid on his chest, kissing eachother gently. you pull back, smoothing down his hair.
he speaks first, your name coming off the tip of his tounge like a beautiful hum.
“i love you” he breathes out, his eyes searching your own. your heart quickens in your chest.
“you don’t have to say it back-“ he starts.
“no. i love you, rintarou.” you confess, leaning to kiss his cheek. he gives you an uncharacteristically loving smile. you’d never seen him in this sort of light before.
your mind completely avoiding the fact that in three days time, you’d be hours away, long gone from here.
Tumblr media
“you guys didn’t fuck, right?” ami scolds, eyeing you two as you three ate the dinner she so graciously brought home for you.
“nope. on our best behavior.” rin responds, giving your thigh a squeeze under the table.
well, technically he wasn’t lying.
The stars always had a way of making me feel small. Not in a bad way, though—more like I was part of something much bigger, something infinite. My father once told me which one of those stars was Earth. He’d pointed it out during one of our rare quiet moments together, his voice low and steady, full of memories he didn’t share often.
“That’s Earth,” he’d said, his hand resting on my shoulder. “Where I came from. Where humans come from.”
I remember staring at the tiny dot of light, so far away, and thinking how strange it was that my blood carried a piece of that place. That tiny, distant star was supposed to be part of me, part of my story.
But I never felt it.
I never wanted to feel it.
The idea that I was part human always left a bitter taste in my mouth. It wasn’t shame exactly, more like... rejection. Like if I didn’t think about it, it wouldn’t be true. I could just be Na’vi. Fully Na’vi. The son of Toruk Makto, the son of the People. Not this... mix, this in-between thing that didn’t quite fit anywhere.
I think that’s why her words hit me the way they did.
“I don’t belong here,” she’d said last night, her voice so quiet it was almost swallowed by the darkness around us.
I understood that. Too well.
I’d felt it the moment we arrived in Awa’atlu, surrounded by the sea clan with their skeptical eyes and quiet whispers. I’d been the golden boy back in the forest, the future Olo’eyktan, the one who had it all figured out. But in the reef, I was a stranger. A fish out of water. Literally.
For the first time in my life, I wasn’t enough. Not strong enough, not skilled enough, not... enough.
I’d see it in their eyes sometimes, the Metkayina. That subtle shift when they looked at me. The respect was still there,yet the feeling lingered. Like I didn’t quite belong, no matter how hard I tried.
And now, here I was again, caught between worlds.
She reminded me of myself back then. That restless energy, that sharp defensiveness. She was trying so hard to figure out where she fit, just like I had. But she didn’t see what I saw in her: a spark, something unyielding, like she’d find her place no matter what it took.
That scared me, I think. The way I found myself wanting to be part of her story, wanting to help her figure it out. She wasn’t like anyone else I’d met.
She was... different.
And that terrified me.
Because I didn’t know what to do with that. Didn’t know how to handle the way my thoughts kept circling back to her, the way I noticed every little detail about her. The curve of her lips when she was annoyed. How she got so mad at me when I saved her,and I couldn’t help but feel amused,thanks to her fiery nature.
It was distracting, and I didn’t like being distracted.
I sighed, running a hand through my braids as I stared up at the stars again. The night was quiet, the village still. Somewhere in the distance, the soft hum of the forest blended with the faint whispers of the breeze.
I told myself to stop thinking about her. We’ve known each other for what,a few weeks?That is,if you count the fact that I didn’t see her for some time after the first ambush when Eywa sent the atokirina her way.
 I need to focus. To focus on the tasks ahead, on my duty to my people, to my father. But it was harder than I wanted to admit.
Because she wasn’t just in my head anymore.
She was under my skin.
Tumblr media
The morning came not with the rising sun but with the familiar pull of duty, a rhythm as natural to me as breathing. Sleep had been fleeting, fractured by restless dreams and thoughts I didn’t care to name. It wasn’t unusual—restlessness had been my companion since the day we left the Omatikaya forests for Awa’atlu. But today, it felt different, heavier somehow.
As the first hints of light crept over the trees, I stepped out of my tent, the cool morning air brushing against my skin. Tendrils of bioluminescence still lingered, fading with the approach of dawn.
I made my way toward the ikran rookery, my steps purposeful yet unhurried. Na’la was already awake, perched on a high branch, preening her bright green and blue feathers. She chirped as I approached, a sharp, almost impatient sound that made me smile.
“You’re eager today,” I said in Na’vi, running my hand along her neck. Her scales were warm beneath my palm, and she tilted her head toward me, demanding more attention.
“Na’la, we have work to do,” I murmured, though my tone was more affectionate than scolding. I untangled the leather reins and checked the straps carefully.
A familiar voice broke the quiet. “You talk to her like she’s your child.”
I turned to see Lo’ak leaning against a nearby tree, a teasing grin plastered across his face. He had the kind of ease about him that I envied sometimes, like the weight of the world hadn’t yet found a way to settle on his shoulders.
“And you talk like you’re not late,” I shot back, raising a brow.
Lo’ak laughed, stepping closer. “Father’s been asking about the perimeter check. You’re supposed to report in after.”
“I know,” I replied, securing the final strap on Na’la’s harness. “I’m heading out now.”
Lo’ak’s gaze lingered on me, his grin fading slightly. “You didn’t sleep again, did you?”
“I’m fine,” I said quickly, brushing off his concern.
“You’re always ‘fine,’” Lo’ak muttered, crossing his arms. “One day, you’re going to have to admit you’re not perfect, bro.”
“I’ll let you know when that day comes,” I replied, swinging onto Na’la’s back. “Now, are you coming, or are you just here to criticize me?”
Lo’ak chuckled, shaking his head. “I’ve got my own tasks, thanks. I have to go over some strategies with Za'ruk for the next ambush. But try not to overthink everything, alright? You’re worse than Kiri sometimes.”
I ignored his jab, giving Na’la the signal to take off. The rush of wind and the sudden burst of speed cleared my mind, at least for a moment. The forest spread out beneath us, an endless expanse of green and blue, dotted with the faint glow of the morning’s first light.
As we approached the eastern perimeter, I scanned the ground below, noting the subtle signs of movement among the foliage. A small group of hunters was already out, their bows slung across their backs as they moved with practiced precision.
I landed Na’la near the group, dismounting with a fluid motion. The lead hunter, a tall Na’vi named Ayzek, approached with a nod of greeting.
“Neteyam. Oel ngati kameie,ma tsmukan.” he said, his voice steady,as he greets me in the Na’vi way. “Everything’s quiet this morning. No sign of activity from the Sky People.”
“I see you,brother.Good,” I replied, glancing toward the horizon. “But stay alert. They’ve been quiet for too long.”
Ayzek nodded again, his expression serious. “We’ll keep watch.”
I spent the next hour moving along the perimeter, checking for any signs of disturbance. The forest was eerily peaceful, the kind of quiet that always felt like the calm before a storm. Yet the storm never came.
By the time I finished, the sun was fully above the trees, casting long shadows across the ground. I guided Na’la back towards the village, my mind already shifting to the next task on my list.Grandmother asked me if I could gather some herbs for her,so I got to work.
I found the plants I needed, bending low to carefully pluck the delicate leaves. The task was simple enough, but my thoughts kept returning to the conversation we’d had last night. She had been so guarded, so closed off. But underneath that was something more—something I couldn’t quite put into words. It reminded me of the way the forest was sometimes: unpredictable, wild, full of life, but also dangerous.
As I landed back at base,I made my way quickly to my grandmother’s tent, the familiar scent of herbs and smoke greeted me. The Tsahìk was seated cross-legged near a low fire, her hands deftly mixing a paste in a stone bowl.
“Grandmother,I see you." I said, bowing my head respectfully.
“Neteyam,” she replied without looking up. “You are late.”
“My apologies,” I said, kneeling beside her. “The perimeter was secure.”
She finally looked at me, her sharp eyes narrowing slightly. “And yet your mind is elsewhere.”
I hesitated, unsure how to respond. My grandmother had a way of seeing through me, of pulling truths I wasn’t ready to confront.
“There is much to think about,” I said carefully.
Her gaze lingered on me for a moment longer,a small smile making its way on her face before she returned to her work. “Your father has asked for you. Go to him when you are done here.”
I nodded, rising to my feet. Her words stayed with me as I made my way toward his marui. There was always something to think about, always something to do. But lately, my thoughts kept returning to her—to the human girl who didn’t belong here, yet somehow felt like she might.
For now, though, there was work to be done. And work was the one thing I could always count on to keep my mind in check.
Tumblr media
The low hum of the base was the only sound besides the soft padding of my footsteps as I made my way to my father’s marui. My mind was still spinning from the conversation I’d had earlier, the one that had gotten under my skin more than I wanted to admit. I wasn’t sure what it was about her that kept pulling my attention, but the more I saw of her, the harder it was to ignore the strange pull.
I rounded a corner, barely glancing up before—
Bam!
I felt the impact hard in my chest as she collided with me, sending a jolt through both of us. My body instinctively moved to catch her, but she was already stepping back, muttering under her breath.
“Dammit,” she hissed, her hand flying to her left shoulder, massaging the spot she’d rammed into me. “Fucking hell, watch where—”
Her voice faltered mid-curse as her eyes flicked up to meet mine. Wide and startled, her gaze locked onto mine, and for a moment, we both froze. The air between us thickened, silent except for the faint hum of the base and the echo of her earlier words.
“Neteyam?” she said finally, her voice softer now, tinged with surprise.
I blinked, the initial shock fading as I took her in. Her cheeks were flushed—whether from embarrassment or irritation, I couldn’t tell—and her lips were slightly parted as if she wasn’t sure what to say next. Fucking hell, she’s so pretty.
“Syulang,” I said, letting out a breathless laugh and easing into a grin. “Are you trying to get me killed?”
She straightened up and let out an exasperated sigh. “Sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going,” she muttered, then huffed in frustration. “I swear, I need to be more careful. My brain’s on autopilot lately.”
I chuckled, the sound breaking some of the tension. “No harm done. You sure you’re okay? That was a pretty solid hit.” I asked, studying her face. The frustration from earlier had softened, but I couldn’t help noticing how much more relaxed she looked.
She rolled her eyes but smiled faintly. “I’ve had worse,” she said, rubbing her shoulder one more time before she gestured vaguely down the hall, a little too animated, her voice picking up speed. “I was actually heading to Unit 2—kind of a weird place, but cozy enough. I’ve already taken some blood samples, nothing too fancy, you know? Just figuring out some things with the new enhanced Avatar technology and—” She paused, blinking as if she hadn’t realized how much she was talking.
I couldn’t tear my gaze away from her. She was talking so fast, her words tumbling over each other like she was on a mission to distract herself, or maybe... distract me. She was so different from the defensive girl I had bumped into last night in the common room. Either way, I could feel my heart rate picking up in the strangest way.
“Blood samples?” I repeated, trying to focus on the words, though I couldn’t stop staring at how her lips moved when she spoke. “What... kind of samples?” Did I really just ask what kind of samples? Am I a fucking idiot?
"Oh, you know,” she said, waving her hand dismissively, “baseline stuff. Standard variables. I can’t really get into the fun experiments until I have a solid foundation to work with.” She grinned like she was sharing some inside secret, and for a moment, I found myself completely captivated by the spark in her eyes.
She was so different from anyone I’d met. So...alive, in a way I couldn’t quite explain.
“Right,” I said, quieter than I intended, distracted by the way her hair caught the faint light. “You’re settling in, I see?”
Her laugh was soft, disarming. “What else am I supposed to do around here? Besides, I’ve got to keep busy or else I’ll start thinking too much about... everything else.”
The way she said everything else stirred something in my chest. It was in her tone, the way her words seemed heavier than they should have been. I didn’t want to push, but I couldn’t stop myself. “What do you mean, everything else?”
She hesitated, a fleeting expression of vulnerability crossing her face. Like she hadn’t meant to let that slip. Then, with a small shrug and a half-smile, she answered, “It’s nothing, really. Just... adjusting. I know I’m not exactly welcome here, but I don’t have a lot of options right now,do I?”
Her voice softened toward the end, her posture shifting slightly, as though the weight of her words had finally settled on her shoulders. My eyes caught the way her fingers tugged at her cuticles—a nervous habit I’d seen around before. It was subtle but telling, the kind of gesture that hinted at something deeper bubbling under the surface.
She’s anxious... huh.
“I get it,” I said gently, my voice dropping in volume as though I didn’t want to break the fragile moment between us. “It’s... a lot to take in. But you’ll find your place. In time. You just have to trust the process.”
Her eyes flickered toward me, and for a second, something unreadable passed through them—an emotion too layered to pin down.The look lingered just long enough to make my chest tighten before she glanced away, letting her gaze drift to the floor.
That’s when I saw it again—the same vulnerable look she’d had last night. The mask she wore, the one that made her seem sharp and untouchable, slipped just a little. Beneath it was something raw, something almost fragile.
She opened her mouth as if to say something, but the words seemed to catch in her throat. Her lips pressed into a thin line before she let out a soft sigh. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she spoke. “You’re right,” she said, her voice quieter now, thoughtful but distant, as if she was speaking more to herself than to me.
I didn’t press her, even though the pause felt heavy with unspoken things. I could sense the struggle she was having, the way she weighed every word like it might tip some precarious balance. Instead, I let the silence stretch between us, offering her the space to decide what she wanted to say—or not say.
But even as her eyes stayed fixed on the floor below, her fingers had stopped pulling at her cuticles. A small thing, but I noticed.
And just like that, the moment seemed to waver, as fragile as a thread. She stepped back, her attention shifting toward the path. “Anyway... I should get back to the lab. I’ve still got a ton of data to go through.”
I watched her pull away, feeling a sudden, inexplicable tightness in my chest. There was no reason for me to feel like this, no reason for the way my feet wanted to follow hers even as she moved further away. I don’t even know her that well.
“Yeah, okay,” I muttered. “I’ll see you later?”
She glanced back at me, her lips curling into a small smile. “Actually,” she said, a mischievous,yet shy glint in her eyes, “how about we meet in the common room tonight,around 11? You know, talk more. Like last night. I could use a distraction.”
Her invitation—casual, but somehow intimate—had my heart beating faster than it should have. For a split second, I wasn’t sure if I should be relieved or panicked. There was something about her that pulled at me in a way that I couldn’t control. But I nodded anyway.
“Sure. Tonight. I’ll uh…I’ll see you there.” I said, my voice quieter and more shy than usual.
Her smile lingered for a moment, her gaze soft and warm, before she turned and walked off down the hall. I couldn’t stop watching her as she disappeared into the distance.
The moment she was out of sight, I exhaled sharply, trying to calm the racing thoughts in my mind. What is wrong with me?
I couldn’t shake the feeling that something had shifted. Between the two of us, something was changing—something I wasn’t prepared for. And I didn’t know whether to embrace it or run. But all I knew for sure was that I’d be in that common room tonight, just like she wanted.
Whatever happens then, I’ll deal with it.
Tumblr media
I stood there for a few moments after she walked away, my mind swirling with the unexpected tension that had sparked between us. It wasn’t like me to get so... flustered. I wasn’t some teenager caught off guard by a fleeting glance or a playful smile. But the way she spoke, how she was so full of energy now that she was in her own element, and how the words seemed to flow out of her like she couldn’t stop herself—it made me feel... unsteady.
Shaking my head to clear the thoughts clouding my mind, I turned on my heel and continued my path toward my father's marui. There was no time to be distracted right now. I had duties to attend to, responsibilities I couldn’t afford to ignore.
I hadn’t been on my way for more than a few minutes before the weight of the moment caught up with me again. She had asked to meet later—tonight—and I hadn’t expected it. I had thought maybe it was a fluke, a casual comment. But the look in her eyes, the sincerity of her words, made it clear she meant it. And despite everything, part of me wanted to meet her. Wanted to see what would happen when we spoke more, when we spent more time together.
But now wasn’t the time for that. I had bigger things to worry about.
I reached my father’s marui, the familiar earthy scent of the woven structure greeting me as I stepped inside. The dim light of late morning filtered through the arched openings, casting intricate patterns over the floor. My thoughts were still scattered, each one vying for attention like a restless storm.
Dad was already there, sitting cross-legged at the center of the room, his posture as straight as ever, exuding a quiet authority. A map of the surrounding territories was spread out before him, his fingers tracing lines and markings that detailed our fragile hold on this land.
“You’re late,” he said, his voice steady but tinged with mild reprimand. He didn’t look up; he didn’t need to. His tone carried enough weight.
“Sorry, Dad,” I muttered, lowering myself to sit across from him. The woven mat beneath me felt rough, grounding. “Got... distracted.”
At that, his eyes flicked up, sharp and discerning. Concern flickered briefly in his gaze, though it was hidden beneath his stoic exterior. “Distracted?” His brow furrowed. “You’re still thinking about those reports from yesterday?”
I almost laughed at that—those reports were the last thing on my mind—but I stopped myself, shaking my head. “No, not exactly.” My tone was too neutral, betraying nothing of the whirlwind in my head. The lab, the ambushes, the strange pull I felt toward her—all of it churned within me, just out of reach.
Dad’s gaze lingered for a moment, his keen eyes assessing me. “You’re sure? Because…whatever’s bothering you, we need to stay focused. We’ve got more problems than just the RDA and their new push for territory.”
“I know,” I said, nodding quickly, trying to appear more resolute than I felt. “I’m focused, Dad. It’s just...there’s a lot going on right now. Everything’s changing so fast, and I don’t think I’ve caught up yet.”
For a moment, silence stretched between us. Then, to my surprise, his expression softened. He leaned back slightly, the tension in his shoulders easing. “You know,” he began, his tone uncharacteristically reflective, “I’ve been where you are. When I came here as a human. When we moved to Awa’atlu, to live with the Metkayina. I felt like I was walking into another world,every single time. Everything I knew was stripped away. For the first time, I didn’t know where I fit.”
I blinked, taken aback. My father—so steady, so unwavering—had felt that way? I’d never heard him speak like this before.
“You?” I asked, skepticism coloring my voice despite myself.
He smirked faintly, but his eyes remained serious. “Yes, me. I was used to being in control, to knowing my role and what was expected of me,especially here with the people. Our people. But there, among the Metkayina... I was an outsider. Not to mention,back when I came here to Pandora,almost everyone looked  down on me because of my…condition. I had to learn everything from scratch, adapt to a way of life that was completely foreign to me.”
“And you found your place eventually,” I said quietly, as though seeking confirmation.
“I did,” he said with a slow nod. “But it wasn’t easy. And it wasn’t always clear. Sometimes, finding your place isn’t about fitting in. It’s about carving out your own path, even if it’s not what you expected.”
His words settled heavily in the air between us. They were meant to reassure me, I knew, but they only seemed to magnify the doubts I hadn’t yet voiced.
“What if I’m not sure where I belong anymore?” I asked, the question slipping out before I could stop it. I could feel the regret seeping into my bones almost instantly.
My father’s gaze softened, and for a moment, he leaned forward, his voice dropping to a lower, more intimate tone. “You’re my son, Neteyam. You’ve always been destined to lead. But leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about making the hard choices when no one else will. And right now, you’re needed. By your family, by the clan. Don’t forget that.”
I nodded, his words hitting their mark. The familiar weight of responsibility settled on my shoulders again, grounding me even as the unease within me continued to churn.
“Got it,” I said, standing up, summoning a conviction I didn’t truly feel. My legs felt heavy, as if the weight of every expectation was dragging me down. I am so, so tired. The kind of exhaustion that seeps into your bones, that lingers even after the day is done. But I couldn’t let it show, not now. Not in front of him.
I glanced at my father’s face—strong, unwavering, the image of everything I was supposed to be—and felt the pressure tighten around me like a vise. I can’t let him down. I can’t let anyone down.
“I’ll handle it, Dad,” I said, my voice steady despite the storm brewing inside me. I squared my shoulders, as if straightening my spine could bear the weight a little better. “I’ll take care of everything.”
But even as I spoke the words, they felt hollow, as though I was pouring from a well that had long since run dry. The weight of responsibility, of duty, of always being the one everyone relied on—it was crushing. Yet I swallowed the heaviness, shoving it down where no one could see, because that’s what was expected of me. That’s what I had to be.
“I know you will,” he replied firmly. “Now, let’s go over those raid reports from the Aranahe. Priya said Etuwa mentioned something important about their movements.”
We spent the next hour combing through the maps and plans, dissecting strategies and weighing risks. By the time we finished, my head was spinning with logistical details, but the unease hadn’t left me. It clung to me, stubborn and unrelenting.
As I stepped out of the marui, the mid-morning sun had risen higher, casting dappled light through the canopy above. The air felt thick with possibility and tension, the kind that promised change.
And tonight, I would talk to her. Maybe then I’d start to make sense of the storm inside me. Maybe then I’d begin to understand what it was about her that had shifted my entire world off its axis.
The soft glow of the lamps in the common room greeted me as I pushed open the door, expecting to see her sitting at one of the tables, waiting for me like we had planned. But the room was empty, save for a few scattered papers and a faint hum in the air. The silence felt heavier than it should have, and I couldn't help but feel a small knot form in my stomach. Had she changed her mind? Was I being too... eager?
I stood there for a moment, my gaze flicking from one corner of the room to the other, my thoughts racing. It wasn’t like her to ditch without saying something. She didn't seem like that kind of person. My hand lingered on the doorframe as I considered the possibility that I’d misread her intentions. Maybe she just didn’t want to talk tonight.
"Great," I muttered under my breath. "Did she forget, or did I get the time wrong?"
I lingered for a minute, debating if I should just call it a night, but something told me to check on her. Her room wasn’t far, and I figured it wouldn’t hurt to swing by.
When I reached her door, I knocked softly. "You in there?"
There was a pause, then her voice came through, muffled but annoyed. "Yeah, come in."
I stepped inside and found her sitting on her bed, one hand digging into her left shoulder with an almost pained expression. Her hair was loose, framing her face, and she looked… tired. Not just physically, but like she was carrying something heavy.
“What’s going on? You okay?” I asked, stepping closer, my voice laced with concern.
She sighed, brushing a strand of hair out of her face as she gave me a weak smile. “I’m sorry I didn’t meet you in the common room. My shoulder’s acting up, and I couldn’t drag myself out of bed.”
My brows knit together in a deep frown, the memory of her earlier bumping into me flashing in my mind. “Did you… did you hurt yourself when you bumped into me today?”
“What?” she asked, her expression confused before shaking her head quickly. “No, no, I—”
Her words trailed off, and for a moment, she hesitated. The confident, sharp-tongued girl I knew seemed to falter, her smile fading into something more vulnerable. Then, with a frustrated groan, she dropped the façade altogether.
“...Gah. A long time ago, I had an accident at the gym. Lifted before I warmed up and messed up my shoulder pretty bad,” she admitted, her voice quieter now, almost reluctant. “I got it fixed back on Earth, but sometimes it still flares up. I think it’s the pressure here, the mountains, the Flux Vortex. Everything feels heavier, and sometimes it just… hurts like hell.”
Her honesty hit me like a wave, and I found myself at a loss for words. For all her fire and wit, there was a fragility to her I hadn’t expected.
“Why didn’t you tell someone?” I asked, confusion—and maybe a hint of frustration—coloring my voice.
She sighed again, her fingers tracing idle patterns on the blanket covering her legs. “I don’t like people fussing over me, okay? It’s… embarrassing. Makes me feel weird and emotional. And when the pain gets bad, I turn into a total asshole. Groggy, snappy, all that fun stuff. Trust me, you wouldn’t want to be around me then."
I tilted my head, smirking. "Paskalin, I’ve seen you pissed off at me for saving your life. I think I can handle snappy.’"
The term of endearment fit her so well, even better than syulang. She wasn’t delicate like a flower, something to be admired from a distance or sheltered from the wind. No, she was something else entirely. She had a resilience, a sharpness under her sweetness that reminded me of the wild berries that grew deep in the forest. Small, vibrant, and full of flavor, but with a tang that lingered.
Paskalin.
The word rolled through my lips like a whisper, soft and unassuming, yet it carried so much weight. Sweet berry. It was her—unexpected, unapologetic, and impossible to forget. Every interaction with her left a taste, something unique that stayed with me long after she was gone. She wasn’t just something pretty to look at; she had depth, layers, and a wildness that drew you in.
Calling her syulang like I did when I bumped into her wouldn’t have done her justice in this moment. She wasn’t fragile or fleeting. She was vibrant, alive in a way that commanded attention without trying. Paskalin. That was her.
And the more I thought about it, the more I realized the name wasn’t just fitting—it felt like it had been waiting for her all along.
That made her laugh for real. For a moment,I could feel she didn't want to admit that I had saved her life. "...Okay, fair point. But still, it’s annoying as hell. Plus,I told you,I don’t like people fussing over me. I don’t want to seem like I’m trying to get attention.”
“Too bad,” I said firmly, moving closer and sitting on the edge of her bed without a second thought. Gosh,these beds are small. “You’re stuck with me now.”
She blinked at me, momentarily surprised, before letting out a soft, genuine laugh. It wasn’t the sharp, sarcastic sound I was used to—it was warm, unguarded. It made something tighten in my chest.
“Great,” she said, her voice dripping with playful sarcasm. “Just what I needed—Prince Charming to the rescue.”
I smirked, leaning back slightly but keeping my gaze steady on her. “I’m serious, though. You shouldn’t have to deal with this alone. You don’t have to.”
She rolled her eyes, but I could see the faintest hint of gratitude in her expression. “Yeah, yeah. You’ve made your point.”
We spent the hour or so talking about the dumbest things—stories about the douchebags at her college back on Earth, our childhood memories, and random jokes that had us both laughing so hard my ribs hurt. To my surprise,it was so…natural. At some point, we decided we were starving, so we raided the common room for leftover snacks,and munched on them on the floor. It felt more comfortable sitting on the floor,given our…size difference.
I watched as she shifted uncomfortably, rubbing her shoulder again. I remembered how my grandmother used to massage my chest after I got shot, easing the tension on my back and helping the muscles heal. Before I could second-guess it, I asked her.
"Uh… do you want me to try something?" I asked, scratching the back of my neck.
She raised an eyebrow. "Try what?"
"My grandmother taught me a massage technique. It’s supposed to help with muscle pain. Worked for me when I, uh… got hurt." I didn’t elaborate. I couldn't open that part of myself to her. Not yet,at least.
She raised an eyebrow, skeptical,the sass dripping from her tone. “What, you suddenly moonlight as a masseur now?”
“Shut up and turn around,” I said, rolling my eyes.
She snorted but complied, sitting cross-legged on the floor and turning her back to me. I positioned myself behind her,trying to remember the technique. As soon as I started kneading the tight muscles,she let out a long,low groan of relief.
My ears twitched,and I fought to keep my focus. It’s just a massage. Relax. But fuck,the way she was melting under my touch wasn’t helping.
“Holy shit,” she muttered, her voice muffled. “That feels… really good.”
“You’re tense as hell,” I said,trying to lighten up the mood. “Do you ever not carry the world on your shoulders?”
“Ha ha,” she deadpanned,though her voice was softer. “Keep going. Don’t stop.”
We stayed like that for a while,her groaning softly and me trying not to die of embarrassment. But somewhere in the rhythm of it,I realized something. We were becoming…friends. Real friends.
“Where were you when I needed this back on Earth?” she asks,a tinge of amusement present in her voice.
“Probably trying not to fall out of trees,” I said, grinning.
She laughed, the sound warm and genuine. “You’re terrible.”
I chuckled, though my face felt a little warmer as her laughter turned into soft groans of relief yet again,which weren't exactly helping me stay focused as my mind started drifting to other places.
I froze for half a second, my face heating up before I forced myself to focus. "Yeah, well, don’t get used to it. I charge for this kind of service."
She laughed, the sound muffled by another groan. "How much? I’ll pay whatever you want if you just keep doing that."
I couldn’t help but laugh as well, shaking my head. "You’re ridiculous."
"So are you," she shot back, her voice softer now. "Seriously, though. Thanks. I don’t... I don’t usually let people help me with this kind of stuff."
"Why not?"
She hesitated, then sighed. "I guess I don’t like feeling... vulnerable. Weak."
"That’s not weak,though." I said, my hands still working on her shoulder. "Just like your people have that saying. It’s human. Or,you know,whatever."
"Yeah. Or whatever." she said,her tone sarcastic,yet I could hear the faint smile in her voice.
Tumblr media
We stayed like that for a while, the room quiet except for her soft breathing and the occasional sarcastic remark from her when I hit a particularly sore spot. By the time I finished, her shoulder was noticeably less tense, and she looked… lighter, somehow.
“Thanks,” she said, her voice softer than usual. “I mean it.”
“Anytime,” I replied, meaning it more than I realized.
Her eyes lowered suddenly, a flicker of vulnerability creeping into her expression. “I guess... sometimes it’s hard for people to understand. They either see me as the tough, independent person,because that’s what I want them to see. Sometimes,I show them my softer part and I’m usually taken advantage of when I act like that. But… I’m not invincible,you know?”
I felt a knot tighten in my chest at her words. She was tough. She was smart. She was so much more than she seemed to give herself credit for. “You don’t have to apologize for being real and vulnerable,” I said, my voice low and reassuring. “You’re allowed to feel the way you do. You’re not alone here.”
She looked up at me, her eyes softening a little as she took in my words. “I didn’t realize how much I’ve been hiding. I guess it just gets... exhausting sometimes. Pretending that everything’s fine when it’s not.”
I couldn’t help but feel a wave of empathy wash over me. I knew that feeling. The pressure of always having to be strong, to always hold it together, even when everything inside you was falling apart. I had been in her shoes, more times than I cared to admit.
“You don’t have to pretend with me,” I said, meeting her gaze with a kind of sincerity I wasn’t sure I’d ever expressed before. “I know we haven’t known each other for long but…I get it. You’re not the only one trying to find their place. Sometimes, it’s easier to hide behind walls. But you don’t have to do that with me. Not anymore.”
For a moment, she just stared at me, her expression unreadable, and then something shifted in her eyes. Maybe she saw the truth in my words, or maybe she just needed to hear them. Either way, the tension in the room seemed to ease, just a little.
“I’m not great at this whole... opening up thing,” she said, letting out a weak,quiet laugh. “But I think... maybe it’s worth trying. Right?”
I smiled at her, feeling something warm blossom in my chest. “It’s worth trying,” I agreed. “And maybe, we can help each other with that. Maybe we can even be friends.”
She raised an eyebrow at me, an amused smile tugging at her lips. “Friends?” she asked, a teasing lilt to her voice,but I could see the excitement behind her wide eyes. “You sure you’re up for it, Neteyam?”
I said, a small smile tugging at the corner of my lips. “Of course I’m sure. Better yet,I’ll even make sure you don’t murder anyone with your mood swings.”
Her lips twitched into a smile, and she rolled her eyes, but I could see the appreciation in the small way her shoulders relaxed. “You’re a real charmer, you know.” she muttered, though there was no heat in her words.
“Hey, I’m just speaking the truth,” I replied with a grin. “The world needs more of me, I’m just saying.”
She let out a laugh, the sound a little strained but genuine. “Maybe one Neteyam is enough. I don’t know if the world could handle two.”
“I think you’re just jealous,” I teased, nudging her good shoulder lightly with my elbow.
She snorted, shaking her head. “Please. I’d rather be in pain than deal with your ego any more than I have to.”
“Fair enough,” I said, giving her a mock pout. “I’m trying to be helpful here, and you’re rejecting my kindness.”
She smirked. “I’m rejecting your sarcasm. But thanks... for listening. And for not running off the second I started talking about how much of a pain in the ass I am.”
I didn’t know why, but that made me feel warmer than it should’ve. “You’re not a pain in the ass. You’re... pretty cool, actually.” I paused, then added, “Pain or not.”
She raised an eyebrow at me. “That’s the nicest thing anyone’s said to me in, like, an hour.”
I chuckled. “Well, I’m happy to help.”
Slowly,we fell into a comfortable silence. The soft glow of the dim light casting shadows that danced gently across her features. The faint hum of the base filled the silence, but I barely noticed it. My attention was entirely on her.
She was leaning back on her palms, her head tilted slightly upward as she stared at the ceiling. Her hair, unbound and free, pooled around her shoulders and down her back like an ocean of soft waves. The light caught the natural sheen in it, creating an almost halo-like effect around her head. The strands seemed to ripple with her every subtle movement, and I couldn’t help but notice how effortlessly beautiful she looked—like a moment frozen in time, raw and unfiltered.
Her face, partially illuminated, carried an ethereal softness under the subdued light. The curve of her cheekbones, the delicate arch of her brows, and the faint shadow of her lashes against her skin—all of it felt magnified in this quiet, intimate moment. Her lips, slightly parted, caught my attention for a beat too long. Full and natural, they had a way of drawing my gaze without her even trying.
The dim light softened the sharpness of her features, making her look almost dreamlike. Her doe-like eyes, though unfocused as they traced patterns across the ceiling, seemed deeper somehow, like they held an entire galaxy behind them.
Her shoulders were relaxed, but there was a tension in the way her hands pressed into the floor, grounding her. The fabric of her loose shirt shifted slightly as she breathed, the neckline dipping just enough to reveal the faint outline of her collarbones. It wasn’t intentional—nothing about her ever seemed forced—but the simplicity of it only made her more alluring.
I watched as her chest rose and fell with each breath, the steady rhythm hypnotizing me. Her posture gave her an air of quiet confidence, as if she was completely at ease in this moment. Yet, there was a vulnerability there too, something that made her seem so real and tangible, like the delicate balance between strength and softness.
She shifted slightly, her fingers curling against the floor, and the movement was so subtle, so natural, it sent a strange thrill through me. I realized then just how intently I’d been watching her, how I couldn’t seem to look away. Every little detail—the way her hair framed her face, the soft curve of her lips, the calm yet restless energy she carried—was pulling me in, bit by bit.
This was dangerous—this pull she had over me, so effortless, so natural, yet so completely overwhelming. It wasn’t just her beauty, though that alone was enough to make my thoughts scatter. It was the way she existed in this moment, unguarded and unassuming, as if she didn’t even realize how much space she took up in my mind.
And yet, the longer I looked at her, the harder it became to remember why I shouldn’t. Why I shouldn’t let my mind wander to the way her hair cascaded over her shoulders like a waterfall. Why I shouldn’t think about how her lips, slightly parted, seemed to invite thoughts I had no business entertaining. Why I shouldn’t dwell on the way she held herself—with a mix of strength and vulnerability that made me want to learn every story, every scar, every smile.
It wasn’t just attraction; it was something deeper, more insidious. A seed of something I couldn’t quite name yet but knew would grow if I let it. She was starting to take root in my thoughts, her laugh, her voice, her endless curiosity all lingering in the corners of my mind long after she was gone.
I found myself breathing as if the air between us had grown heavier. Something was shifting in me—something I hadn’t expected, something I wasn’t sure I wanted. This wasn’t part of the plan. She wasn’t supposed to be part of the plan. And yet, she was becoming impossible to ignore.
The way she sat there, so perfectly unaware of the effect she was having on me, made it all the more dangerous. Because every second I spent watching her, every detail I memorized—the slight tilt of her head, the rhythm of her breathing, the way her fingers tapped absently against the floor—was another step toward something I couldn’t afford.
I wasn’t so sure about my loyalties anymore. That’s the thing with humans. They have a way of making you question everything.
And still, I couldn’t stop myself. Couldn’t stop the way my chest tightened every time she moved. Couldn’t stop the thoughts racing through my mind, each one more foolish than the last.
She was becoming a gravity I couldn’t escape, a quiet pull drawing me closer with every breath. And as I stood there, caught in the silent orbit of her presence, I realized with a sinking clarity that I was falling. Slowly, maybe, but undeniably.
Her voice brought me back to reality, soft and melodic, like a breeze stirring the stillness of the night. I hadn’t even realized how lost I had become in my thoughts until she spoke, her words cutting through the haze and pulling me back into the moment.
I blinked, forcing myself to focus on her. She was still sitting there, leaning back on her palms, her eyes flickering to mine.
“You know,” she said, staring up at the ceiling, “I think this might be the most fun I’ve had in weeks.”
“Glad I could be of service,” I said, tossing a piece of fruit into my mouth.
Our conversation was then cut short by Norm as he stumbled in, half-asleep, rubbing his eyes and muttering something about needing stronger coffee around here, while we were sprawled on the floor, mid-laugh. We froze as his gaze landed on us, his sleepy expression shifting into one of confusion.
“What are you two doing?” he mumbled, scratching his head.
Never one to back down from an opportunity to tease,she turned to him. “Star gazing,” she said, deadpan, despite the fact that we were indoors.
Norm squinted, clearly too tired to argue. “Right. Well, carry on. Just… keep it down.” He shuffled over to the kitchenette, grabbed a glass of water, and disappeared as quickly as he’d arrived.
As soon as the door closed behind him, we burst out laughing again. I rolled onto my side, clutching my stomach. “Star gazing? Really?”
She grinned, unrepentant. “It worked, didn’t it?”
Shaking my head, I let the laughter fade and leaned back against the floor, staring up at the ceiling. The quiet hum of the outpost settled around us, and for the first time in what felt like forever, I felt completely relaxed. In a moment of confidence,I turned my head to look at her.
She turned her head to look at me as well,her cheek resting softly against the cool floor, and for a moment, I couldn't tear my gaze away. Her hair fanned out around her like a halo,tendrils spilling in all directions, catching the dim light in a way that made her seem almost otherworldly. In that split second, I was completely entranced, my heart doing a strange, sudden lurch in my chest. It was like everything around me went quiet, and all that mattered was the sight of her there, so effortlessly beautiful. I swear, my heart physically skipped a beat.
"You're staring," she said, her voice teasing, with a smirk playing at the corners of her lips.
I blinked rapidly, forcing myself to pull my eyes away from her. "Was not," I mumbled, but my voice betrayed me, the words coming out a little too quick, too defensive.
"Totally were," she shot back, poking me in the side with one finger, sending a small, unexpected jolt through me.
I let out a quiet breath, glancing at her with surprise. Her playfulness was so unexpected, and it threw me off balance more than I cared to admit.
"As if," I muttered, a small laugh bubbling up despite myself.
She smiled then, a small, genuine smile that seemed to warm the room, making my chest tighten in ways I couldn’t name. There was something about the way her expression softened, something that tugged at me. That simple, unguarded smile made the space between us feel both impossibly close and unbearably far, all at once. I wasn’t sure why, but I felt exposed under her gaze, and I didn’t want to look away—didn’t want to lose the moment.
"Okay, enough deep shit," she said with a dramatic flourish, flopping her back onto the floor like she’d just completed an intense workout. "Tell me something dumb. Like… what’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you?"
I groaned, instantly feeling the weight of the question. "Oh, come on. That’s not fair."
"Fairness is overrated," she teased, smirking at me as if daring me to resist. "Come on, spill. I know you’ve got something good."
I sighed, running a hand through my braids, already regretting this conversation. "Fine. When I was like… ten, I tried to impress this girl by climbing a tree. Thought I was being all cool and smooth, y’know? But then I fell right out of it and landed in a pile of… well, let’s just say it wasn’t dirt."
She burst out laughing immediately, clutching her stomach like she couldn’t control herself. Her laugh was so contagious, I found myself cracking a smile, even though I was still cringing at the memory. "Oh my god! Please tell me she didn’t see the whole thing."
I grimaced, leaning back against the floor, trying to escape the embarrassment. "Unfortunately, yes. And she never, ever let me live it down."
She wiped a tear from her eye, still laughing uncontrollably. "Okay, your turn. Ask me something."
I thought for a moment, a mischievous grin slowly creeping onto my face. "Alright. What’s the dumbest thing you’ve ever done to impress someone?"
She groaned and covered her face with both hands, clearly regretting her decision to play along. "Oh, you’re evil. Okay, fine." She sighed deeply, as if preparing to dive into the depths of embarrassment. "When I was fifteen, I had this huge crush on a guy, and he was obsessed with some TV series, so I… painted a triquetra on my wall in black paint to impress him. It’s like… a triangle symbol, I don’t know how to describe it."
I stared at her for a moment, speechless, before I couldn’t hold it back any longer. I burst out laughing, leaning forward in disbelief. "You’re kidding."
"Wish I was," she said, her voice muffled behind her hands, but I could still hear the faint edge of humiliation in it. "He didn’t even think it was that impressive, and my parents thought I was in a cult."
I doubled over in laughter, clutching my sides as the ridiculousness of her story hit me. It was almost too perfect. The image of her—who could be so effortlessly composed and sharp—doing something so… ridiculous to impress some guy was too much for me. I could barely breathe, still laughing so hard I thought I might pass out.
Tumblr media
We kept trading stories like that for a while, our voices rising in fits of laughter, each ridiculous tale more outrageous than the last. By the time we realized how late it was, the sun had already begun to rise. Its soft glow filtered through the windows, casting long beams of pale light across the room, making everything feel a little softer, a little quieter.
"Shit," she said, looking around in sudden realization. "We pulled an all-nighter???"
"Looks like it," I muttered, stretching as a yawn escaped me. I was exhausted, but in that moment, it felt like the kind of tiredness you could sink into, not the kind that dragged you down. The kind that comes after a night spent with someone who makes everything feel a little lighter.
She groaned, glancing at the clock and then back at me, her expression still a mix of disbelief and amusement. "We seriously need to stop doing this. I don’t know what’s worse: the fact that we stayed up all night or the fact that I actually enjoy it."
I chuckled softly, rubbing my eyes. "We’ll deal with that later. But right now, I’m pretty sure we both need coffee."
She shot me a grin, her eyes sparkling even in the early morning light. "Coffee sounds like a good idea. Let’s go make some bad decisions."
I helped her up, my hand steady as I offered her a small, teasing smile. But as soon as she stood, her eyes widened just slightly, and I couldn't suppress a chuckle at the look on her face. In that moment, the difference in our heights felt more pronounced than it ever had before.
Her gaze flickered up to me, a little self-conscious, and I could tell she was probably calculating how much taller I was than her. I couldn’t help but find it amusing—the way she looked up at me like I was some towering figure.
We both began to walk toward the kitchen, and her voice rang out, light and easy, bouncing off the walls as we moved through the quiet, stillness of the morning. “Thanks for tonight, Neteyam. For real. I didn’t think I needed this, but… I did.”
I turned my head to look at her,a faint smile tugging at her lips. “You don’t have to thank me,” I said. “I had fun too.”
She laughed lightly. “Fun, huh? Even with my bitching about my shoulder and my terrible jokes?”
I smirked. “Your jokes are pretty bad. But the shoulder thing? I get it. Everyone’s got their stuff. Doesn’t make you weak.”
As we walked side by side toward the kitchen, her words hung in the air, a soft echo I couldn’t quite shake. I didn’t think I needed this, but... I did.
Something inside me shifted. The usual weight of responsibility and expectations that always seemed to press down on me felt a little less suffocating in that moment. Maybe it was the simplicity of her gratitude, the way she didn’t try to hide the vulnerability in her voice. Maybe it was because I hadn’t felt this light in a long time—not in a way that wasn’t tied to duty or obligation.
I glanced at her, a faint smile tugging at my lips, and despite the teasing, there was something different in the way she looked at me. It wasn’t just the playful glint in her eyes or the way she always managed to make me feel like I was part of something bigger than the chaos of my life. No, this was something deeper—something that cut through the layers of expectation that had built up around me for as long as I could remember. It was like she saw me, really saw me—not just the son of Toruk Makto, not just the Olo’Eyktan-in-training, not the perfect older brother everyone expected me to be. She didn’t see the role I played or the image I projected for the world. She saw the person beneath it all.
She saw me beyond the weight of duty, beyond the endless training, beyond the constant pressure to be something I didn’t always know how to be. She saw the guy who almost lost his life to a bullet, the one who had doubts and scars that no one else seemed to notice. She didn’t flinch at the messiness of who I was or what I’d been through. She felt it, without even having to ask.
And for a split second, I wondered if maybe I was finally starting to feel seen too—really seen in a way I hadn’t allowed myself to be in so long.
The connection we’d shared over the past few hours—the jokes, the quiet moments, the easy conversation—had slowly started to weave something between us. A thread that was pulling tighter with every passing minute. And it made me realize just how much I didn’t want it to unravel.
I turned my head, watching her laugh, that light sound filling the space between us. There was something magnetic about her presence, something I hadn’t expected to find. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but she had a way of making everything else fade into the background.
“You’re annoyingly good at this whole ‘being supportive’ thing,” she said, her words almost a whisper, but they hit me harder than I expected.
It wasn’t the first time I’d heard that sort of compliment—being the strong, reliable older sibling had earned me a reputation for being the go-to guy when things got tough. But hearing it from her? It made me want to be better, to actually be the kind of person she thought I was. It made me want to do more than just live up to expectations; it made me want to live up to her expectations.
I chuckled softly, the lightness of the moment easing some of the tension I hadn’t realized I was carrying. "Comes with the territory of being the older brother. You learn to deal with people's shit." I said, shrugging casually, though I wasn’t so sure I believed it myself.
“Wow, way to ruin the moment,” she said, rolling her eyes, but there was a playful edge to her voice.
But as we reached the kitchen, I realized something else too. I wasn’t just the older brother anymore. I wasn’t just the guy everyone turned to. In that space, in the quiet moments we shared, I felt something else stirring inside me—something I hadn’t let myself feel in a long time. Something that made my chest tighten and my thoughts race, but not in the usual way. It wasn’t pressure, or the weight of a thousand expectations—it was something lighter. Something hopeful.
And as we both stood there, exchanging the last of our banter, I couldn’t help but wonder if this—this—wasn’t just about being supportive. Maybe, just maybe, I was starting to feel something more. And it terrified me.
But for the first time in a long time, it felt like something worth chasing.
I’ve seen a lot of takes on this scene, and honestly they’re all so interesting, so I decided to give my perspective.
Tumblr media
Okay, starting with Armand’s costume, which Carol Cutshall absolutely nailed. Here’s what she said about Armand’s costume design:
—“One of the things about Armand is he is so ancient and so powerful that he always presents himself as very open. Whereas some of the other characters are very covered up, he’s always very open because he really doesn’t see anyone as a threat to himself. He didn’t have any predators or any reason to be on guard, or be armoured.”
Personally, I find this design choice fascinating because, despite being a predator at the top of the food chain, vampires like Armand, especially as a coven leader, would normally need to remain vigilant. Yet, he’s completely at ease, even surrounded by other vampires.
Tumblr media
I mean, look at him here. Sure, it’s not the deep, open V-neck shirts he wears in the interview scenes, but his outfit is still loose and open. And he’s literally surrounded by a group of vampires he knows are plotting against him. He even has his back to said vampires and yet, he’s not the least bit nervous in either situation!
Tumblr media
Even with Daniel, he’s not nervous or afraid because he doesn’t initially see him as a threat.
Tumblr media
So, if Armand isn’t scared of his own coven—a bunch of vampires ready to kill him at the first opportunity—or Daniel, who could potentially expose all his manipulations, then why on earth does he go into full armor mode to meet a seemingly inconsequential human he’s never encountered before? He’s literally in a turtleneck, shielding his most vulnerable area for crying at loud!
Tumblr media
A for body language—honestly, Assad Zaman deserved an Emmy for this scene. We see Armand being aloof, a little suave and condescending, employing the whole, “I’m a four-century-old vampire; you’re just a lowly human” tactic. It’s like he’s sizing her up, wanting to understand who she is while simultaneously aiming to provoke her, curious to see how she will react.
Tumblr media
As for his questions, he frames them in the way you might expect a coven leader to interrogate a human he’s about to turn. Questions like, “How will you survive? Are you okay with killing people and being a monster?” It almost seems like he’s trying to make her reconsider her decision to turn, but it’s all a facade.
Tumblr media
Because the question he really wants to ask is the last one, and when he finally approaches it, his entire demeanor shifts.
Tumblr media
He sheds the suave demeanor and shifts to a more serious tone, embodying what Louis describes as his "post-apocalyptic look." He towers over Madeleine, gazing down at her in an attempt to intimidate. At this point, Madeleine's expression turns genuinely nervous, perhaps even frightened—and understandably so. Yet, she holds her ground. It's then that Armand poses the crucial question he had come specifically to ask.
Tumblr media
“And what will you do in a few decades when she throws herself into the fire? Because she will.”
Tumblr media
Now, why does this question seem familiar? It’s because Armand has previously made a similar statement to Louis. He had forewarned Louis that Claudia’s mind was bound to deteriorate over time. Now, Louis tearfully countered that Armand couldn’t be sure of this, yet part of him probably recognized the truth in Armand’s words, which likely contributed to his emotional plea for Armand to look after her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Armand realized then that Louis, despite his deep love for Claudia, lacked the resolve to keep her grounded, effectively sealing her fate, which seemed all but inevitable by that point. He even assigns Claudia the role of Lulu as a way to infantilize her and further break her spirit—almost as a test to gauge Louis’ reaction. Unfortunately, Louis does nothing about it, while Madeleine clearly recognizes it for the manipulation it is.
Tumblr media
And what does she do next? Madeleine quickly gets Claudia out of that outfit and into one more fitting for her. By doing this, she threatens Armand’s plans without even realizing it.
Tumblr media
It’s also interesting to note that the only time Armand is ever truly angry with Claudia is when he sees her with Madeleine. This reaction underscores the threat he perceives in their bond, disrupting his control of the situation, and here is why.
Tumblr media
When Armand posed the question to Madeleine about what she would do when Claudia throws herself into the fire, her response was:
“Or maybe she won’t. You don’t know. Maybe I’m what she needs to survive.”
Tumblr media
And the way she meets his gaze as she says this marks a shift in their conversation. Throughout their entire conversation, Madeleine often looks away and breaks eye contact, but not in this moment. Here, she meets his gaze head-on. Even though she is clearly nervous, and likely a bit scared, she holds his gaze because she is sure of her words. This is a powerful moment where Madeleine not only asserts her belief but also turns the tables—now, it’s Armand’s turn to feel uneasy.
Tumblr media
Of course, you don’t see it in his face, but it’s evident in his body language. The way he becomes closed off, his hand fidgeting, and his gaze fixed ahead as if deep in thought. He doesn’t even refute her.
Tumblr media
Even with Lestat, when he warns him about Nicky, Armand doesn’t stay silent; he confidently affirms his insights, and Lestat—of all people—clearly believes him. But with Madeleine, it’s a different story. He goes silent, not uttering a word in response. He doesn’t attempt to persuade her because he recognizes that her mind is made up, her resolve unshakable. But perhaps the words that really hit home for him were “You don’t know.” This was probably the words that sealed Madeleine’s fate because the last thing you want to say to a master manipulator and control freak like Armand is that they don’t know something. Because now, all of a sudden Claudia’s death isn’t a certainty anymore and he can’t just sit back and wait for her to lose her sanity. He must take matters into his own hands now.
Anyway, one might think that Madeleine and Claudia leaving, thereby leaving Louis all to Armand, would satisfy him. After all, one of the first things he asks Claudia and Madeleine is if they’re considering returning to Paris, and you might assume Madeleine’s answer pleased him. However, her answer doesn’t satisfy him, not after what Madeleine says soon after.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Madeleine’s words confirm that Claudia indeed loves Louis, and because Madeleine loves Claudia, she persuades her to return to Paris despite her obvious and valid disdain for the city. This revelation proves to Armand, even if they leave Louis, Madeleine and Claudia will always remain a significant part of Louis’s life. For Armand, this is intolerable. To him, Claudia is a dangerous manipulator and a competitor of Louis’s attention.
Tumblr media
So even if they all lived happy, separate lives, Armand’s nature is such that he cannot live with the doubt and fear that Claudia might draw Louis away from him. Having been abandoned too many times in his life, deeply wounded by those closest to him, and left behind for others, he cannot risk experiencing that pain again.
Thus, in that moment when he speaks to Madeleine in the apartment, he decides that both she and Claudia need to be eliminated. I believe this was the real reason Armand was there under the pretense of turning her. He needed to evaluate how much of a threat Madeleine posed to his plans, and upon realizing she was basically a live grenade, he knew he needed to act swiftly to get rid of her. Because as long as Madeleine is present, so will Claudia, and as long as Claudia exists, Louis will never truly belong to Armand.
VOID STATE: LAZINESS IS A DISEASE, GET WELL SOON 🧸
get your ass up and get your dream life
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*mild tough love because some of you need this*
so alot of people go on about how they procrastinate the void and shifting to their new reality because of fear. but alot of you do not want or care to admit that , you’re just too fucking lazy. And to that i say seriously?? You know that you can have ANYTHING, absolutely ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you dream of, with just a trip to the void state and yet you hold it off. “I’ll do it tonight” you say, even though the most groundbreaking thing you have done today was scrolling through your phone on this app and others (which is time that could have been spent tapping in). You torture yourself scrolling through tiktok and instagram, looking at others from afar with jealousy wishing you had their lives. You add posts into your favourites telling yourself “i’ll have that life someday”, “i’ll have that body soon”, “when i shift i’ll be as pretty as her” (when you could literally have all that and better RIGHT NOW) You insert yourself in different narratives, shows and groups you wish you were apart of, when you could literally shift to a reality where you are there.
you don’t have to look at them with jealousy
you dont have to get upset about your shitty life
you don’t have to imagine
you don’t have to want for anything
you don’t have to yearn, long, desire
it can be yours, if i’m honest you should be more excited about this, scripting anything you could ever possibly dream of, even the little details, and they could be YOURS. you should start being so much more excited about this, about your dream life, like seriously. And that excitement about having everything should motivate you to tap in. Instead your lazy ass has adopted a loser mentality, doing absolutely nothing all day telling yourself you’ll “try at night” and when you don’t get in you repeat the cycle. You abandon responsibilities telling yourself it doesn’t matter because “youre gonna shift anyways”, and you don’t even put in the actual effort. It’s a very dangerous cycle to go down and you can go from moving round that cycle once to doing it 30 times and before you know it you’ve spent a month in this rut.
you don’t have to wait until the night and you know that so don’t give me bullshit. Take those limiting beliefs away and do it at any time of day when you get the chance.
Do you know how lucky you are to even have the access to learn about this shit. There are probably so many people much more disciplined than you, that would do so much with this information, who don’t even have access to the internet or any outside resources to even reach this sort of information and you’re fucking wasting your days lurking on this app. doing what? And it’s sad because, this community is so small meaning you are here for a reason my love, all that shit you went through and didn’t deserve, you looked at it all and knew there was more out there for you, knew that you were deserving of more. And i’ll be dammed if your lazy ass ruins it for yourself.
You have overcomplicated the void so much to the point where you’re scared to “fail” and “let yourself down” so you put it off and say you’ll “do it later”. Now remember, you cannot fail the void, you cannot fail something that is inside you, something that IS you. What you fail to do is stand firm in the fact that you’re a god and can do anything, everything is easy for you so get off your ass and go shift.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t care you’re gorgeous
Popular!Paige Bueckers x nerd!reader
A/n: here’s a self indulgent fic that is 1000+ words, I might do a part 2 with smut if that’s wanted!
Tumblr media
The both of you were a very unlikely pair from the start. Her being an athlete, a famous one at that, caused you to assume that she was probably an asshole. You saw her walking around campus with her backpack slung over one shoulder and her blonde hair in the perfect ponytail. No matter how much you hated to admit it she was delicious to look at. One time she came into your class to drop off something for the professor, every girl in the room swooned. You wanted to be included in the Paige fan girl group so you stayed quiet and pretended she wasn’t even there.
But oh, you saw her. The way her muscles looked poking out of the t-shirt she was wearing and the way she subconsciously licked her lips as she talked. You internally melted into a puddle. You were considered a nerd, you were a psychology major and you had a hard time connecting with other girls your age because of how smart you were. The glasses that frame your face, the plaid skirts you wore, and even the constant stuttering you experienced around most people didn’t help the image either.
You being sapphic made things a lot harder as well because your type practically didn’t exist. A dominant woman who towered over you but at the same time understood you and didn’t want you to change yourself. That was like asking for a miracle to happen. You never had a real chance with most of your crushes so staying single became the regular and focusing on your studies was a priority. You tried not to be embarrassed by it all because it was just you being yourself but that showed its difficulty at times.
An example of those times being when the popular blonde came into your view. You never better than to shoot your shot so you watched from afar as so many girls threw themselves into her. She rejected each one which seemed to be a common discussion around everyone. “Why doesn’t she want you? I mean literally look at you” the trashy blondes would tell each other with no self awareness of their rotten and obnoxious personalities. You were observing each thing Paige did because secretly you were mesmerized. One day though things shifted.
You were sitting in the commons with your laptop open and your notes spread out. You had work to do and typically you would be in your room but your roommate wanted the place to herself for a guy. You pushed your glasses up against the bridge of your nose as you wrote down more notes. Suddenly you heard the chair creek next to you. You carefully looked up from the screen to see someone you definitely weren’t expecting and it stopped you in your tracks.
Paige Bueckers was standing there with a soft smile on her face. “Hey can I sit here?” She asked so calmly like you were a kitty she didn’t want to scare off. “Y-yeah” you replied, mentally hitting your forehead for your classic stutter appearing. “Whatcha working on?” She said while looking over at your papers. “Oh- just my psychology homework” you said with little stutters in between your words.
“So you’re a real smart girl then huh?” She said, smirking slightly. You knew she wasn’t being mean you could tell by her tone and actions, more like flirting? Either way the heat rose up your neck fast. “Don’t worry sweetheart, jus’ teasin” at that moment you knew you were head over heels. Her dominant demeanor wasn’t cocky or egotistical, more like she was gently asserting safe control over the conversation. “What’s your name?” She asked you, her smile letting you know she had good intentions. You told her your name quietly, almost a whisper but she listened and made sure she heard.
“I’m Paige but I’m sure you know that” she chuckled. You nodded at her, trying not to blush. Her slender hands rested on the table and she was looking directly at you as you fell into a conversation. Your stuttering was there but this time it didn’t scare someone away it actually made Paige want to talk to you more. She was fond of you, the way your skirts looked on you, the dimples in your knees, and even the way your lip gloss looked on your lips.
“How about you tell me what you’re writing notes on? I would love to learn” you shyly began to explain, trying to keep yourself from oversharing and yapping too much. As you talked Paige was in a trance. She had never seen someone who is so beautiful and sexy but also so smart and delicate, it made her heart flutter. She had the need to protect you and keep you to herself. “You’re so pretty you know that?” Paige suddenly spoke up, catching you off guard.
“T-Thank you” you replied as you stared down at your feet. “Don’t be nervous sweet girl I don’t bite” her fingers came to touch yours. “I know this might be bold but can I have your number?” the happy expression in your eyes grew but at the same time you were skeptical if this was just a joke. “Paige, is this some kind of joke?-“ you tried to say but she quickly cut you off. “Absolutely not, I know you might not hear this often but you are gorgeous” the blonde said. You gave her your number and for the first time in so long your heart flooded with joy. “I would love to talk to you more, but I do have to go meet my roommates for dinner. I'll text you tonight.” And so it begins.
For the next several days you texted back and forth. If you sent a text Paige stopped what she was doing to answer. You two were like magnets that couldn’t stay away from the flame you two made. One day she approached you in the hallway. Every girl’s eyes came to glare holes into you. “Hi sweet girl” Paige said, not so subtly touching your waist. “H-hi” you replied, flustered as hell. “Wanna go get lunch?” She asked and you instantly nodded.
Now every girl would be after you, you just knew it but it didn’t matter because you had Paige. Paige took you out on dates all the time yet she hadn’t asked you to be her girlfriend yet and the question weighed on your mind. This day she was coming over to your dorm because your roommate was gone to a party. You sat on your couch together enjoying some Chinese take out when Paige turned to you. “Hey” she said, wrapping her arms around your waist.
“Mhm?” You replied a bit confused. “So I’ve been thinking, with us getting so close lately-“ “just spit it out Paige” you sighed with a smile. “Will you be my girlfriend?” The basketball player looked into your eyes with a smile. “Yes of course!” You said and for the first time in a very long time you didn’t stutter.
Between that realization and the fact that you’re now dating the Paige Bueckers you wrapped your arms around Paige and muttered thank yous and compliments. She grabbed your chin and used her thumb to rub your cheeks. “There’s something I need to do now” it clicked what she was about to and as nervous as you were you knew you wanted it. She brought your lips into a kiss. You melted under her presence. “Are you happy?” Her blue eyes met your enlarged pupils. “Very” you said, this time kissing her.
Thinking about how many VHS tapes of intimate moments would exist to later be used as blackmail against Bunny if someone had taken a video camera. So many VHSs, so many.
Ok so not vhs tapes butttt i literally have it written in one of my next chapter drafts for dumb bunny that Natalie still has bunny’s old camera and a little photo booklet in her car when she goes to pick it up from storage
And I was originally just gonna have it as like a ‘oh Natalie still has something of bunnies in the adult timeline and thinks about her blah blah blah’
Plus in my head bunny is such a camera scrapbook girlie so I bet she’d be bringing all her different cameras and lots of film to take a million pics at nationals
But this is making me thing about if that camera actually made it through the crash and out the wilderness with them 🤭🤭
Like why did Natalie keep those pictures for so long, what did they manage to capture??
It would obviously have to be very important stuff or moments too cause like they’re gonna have a very limited amount of film…
And even tho it’s bunny’s camera obviously the girls are gonna take it over eventually so they’ll be taking all the pictures 😏
It would also show the story of their time in the wilderness
Like at first maybe they’re less precious with the film so they’ll take quite a few at the beginning while they’re obviously scared and stuff but more carefree
But then it will shift into documenting important cult stuff
Or moments with bunny that the girls find important or wanna immortalise which is even more significant given the limitations of their film
Nsfw under cut
I like to think she had both a normal click and point camera and a Polaroid (plus works better for the plot lmao)
So the more sexual images or stuff they would wanna see again would be poleroid photos
Like imagine pictures of bunny covered in bites and bruises sat in Shauna’s hut on the floor
or out in the woods with blood on her forehead and naked body after lotties moments
Pictures of her from above when Natalie has her on her knees like her pet
All of it tucked away in a little book, hidden away in one of the girls pockets or somewhere out of reach so bunny could never steal it back
I don’t think they would have ever taken them with the intent to blackmail her, because it’s kinda hard to do that when all the people your stuck with already know what’s going on
But I reckon Shauna and Nat would love to use them to keep bunny in check when they first get back to civilisation
Obviously they’re all under a lot of stress and getting used to life again so there’s a bit of leeway
But anytime they see her slipping from their grasp, I’m sure they’d love to remind her just who she belongs to…
My plan was for Natalie to bring the camera and photos with her to reunite with the the others given she’s now picked it up with her car
So I also really love the idea of bunny finding out nats still got them after all this time and how she’d react to it
When bunny first sees Nat again atm I’m planning for it to be after Nat breaks into her house and meets her son Harrison, so would also be kinda cool if bunny walks in on them with the camera and she’s like wtaf
