It's been a good while since the release of the initial version of MonocoDoll's Vile Ventures. For the last 8 months, I have been working on adding more features and fixing bugs that were present in the first release. You can locate the mod in either Simblr.CC or LoversLab.

1.1.0 Update Notes

TLTR: Additions/Changes For 1.1.0

Main Feature: OnlySims

Miscellenous Features: Cigars, Cannabis Gummies, Can Consume Cannabis Through Bubble Bar, New Drug Objects: Weed Tray and Cocaine Lines, Tobacco Plant with Aging Barrel and Drying Rack, Sharing Drug Interactions For Drugs, Do Together Interaction For Drugs, New Addiction Chance System, Addiction Predisposition System, New Setting Options: (Remove Felonies, Set Opinion On Drugs, Set Addiction Predisposition, Check Addiction Predisposition), Updated BDP Mod to be Integrated Into Vile Ventures, New Ways To Obtain Drugs Through Medical Career(Kleptomanaic Sims Pocketing Drugs and At level 5 you can order fake prescriptions), Sims can autonomously do drugs at certain clubs and at Juice Keg Parties, Misc objects: Bath Bombs(Usable), Visa Gift Cards(Usable), Lip Stick Packaging, Quencher Tumbler(Usable), Simple Modern Tumbler (Usable), Hydro Flask Tumbler, Swell Stainless Steel Bottle.

New Tunables

Bug Fixes:

- Implemented fix where if the world you were playing at had a Police Station in a combo rabbithole than the sim being arrested would be dropped off at a random location then take a taxi to the police station to be jailed.

 - Implemented fix where sims who obtained felonies were unemployable for all careers. Where they should have at least been able to join the Criminal, Culinary, Military, and Part time jobs

- Fixed bug where sims were able to deal drugs to their household members

- Made Tunable where you may disable receiving the Going Wild Moodlet for the MDMA, Shrooms, and LSD drugs. The going Wild Moodlet causes a temporary trait change. Which was reported to effect players who had KinkyWorld negatively. If you have KinkyWorld and face issues due to the temporary trait change, you may disable this feature through the tunable xml.

 - Implemented fix where a smuggling racket with the equipment upgrade was bugged. This bug caused you to be forced to hold exactly 25 packages or bricks to smuggle. Otherwise the function would not work.

-Implemented fix where arrests would sometimes repeat after a sim has been dropped off at the police station lot.

-Implemented method where your Drug Dealing skill can be carried over if you were to travel or move to a different world.

-Implemented cleanup methods when crafting drugs via chemistry lab, when drugs are confiscated when being jailed, while smuggling, when curing cannabis, when selling drugs to other sims. These functions simply removed the items from the sims inventory, but did not delete them. They were basically placed in no mans land. Without Nrass errortrap, these items would never get deleted and your save file would get bigger overtime. Now they are get deleted via my script.

MonocoDoll's Vile Ventures offers and aims to provide players with the ability to roleplay lucrative, shady, and consequential criminal activities.

As of this moment at version 1.1.0 . The MonocoDoll's Vile Ventures mod provides the ability to roleplay lucrative, shady, and consequential activities by allowing your sim to become Street Drug Dealers, Craft Drugs, Smuggle Drugs, Launder Dirty Money, Aquire Rackets, Consume Illegal Drugs, and Become OnlySim Models.

Disclaimer

Before installing the new version of MonocoDoll's Vile Ventures mod, please download and read the MonocoDoll's Vile Ventures 1.1.0 Installation Guide. This guide will state what DLC and Third Party Mods you will need to receive full functionality of the mod. A few third party mods were added to this new version.

Additionally, because the mod does add custom traits and custom skills. It is recommended to make a backup save if you are planning on using an already existing playthrough. That way if you decide to uninstall the mod, you will still have a version of your playthrough before you had installed the mod.

Please Download the MonocoDoll's Vile Ventures 1.1.0 (Drug Tunable Guide). As this will give instructions on how to make a tunable edit and explain each current tunable.

Conflicts

Since this is a Script mod, there should not be any conflicts. However, it is recommended not to have The DrugLord mod by brando130 installed with this mod. As it seems to make your sim unclickable if your sim were to receive any moodlet which would temporarily replace a sims trait. This can happen with any of my custom moodlets that changes traits temporarily or any of the non modded moodlets which temporarily change traits. Additionally, MonocoDoll's Vile Ventures 1.1.0 Incorporated the BDP mod into Vile Ventures. Please ensure that you do not have the standalone BDP mod installed alongside Vile Ventures.

Inspiration

Basemental Drugs Mod For The Sims 4 MonocoDoll's Vile Ventures was very much inspired by Basemental's Drug Mod. It should be noted, that I actually never played Basemental Drugs, but I loved reading their great guides. And would have most likely enjoyed it had I decided to continue playing TS4 after I moved to PC gaming.

Life update. Probably the last I’ll do for a while

Unfortunately, my little family is still not doing great. The economy is rough, so jobs are pretty few and far between. Commissions have been our only source of income for the past four months, and that’s barely been enough to get by. On top of that, my health is pretty bad, so I haven’t been able to manage my usual turnarounds. It’s all very tiring. We have leads and interviews coming up, so we can only hope things will get better soon. I’m not giving up hope that we’ll get through this, but the exhaustion is setting in.

On top of that, I’m just not all that into Sonic anymore. It’s hard to lose a hyperfixation, especially one that has brought me so much community and joy for so long. I’ve just simply lost touch with the fandom, and I don’t find myself as excited as I usually would be for upcoming events. The ending of Prime and the Knuckles series just really took it out of me lmao.

Because of that, I’m sad to say I won’t be working on Pandora for the foreseeable future. I’m not going to promise I’ll return to it since there’s simply no way to tell, but I want to thank everyone who has supported me through its 100+ pages. I learned so much from making it and have definitely developed as an artist and writer throughout the whole process. It’s sad to say goodbye. Hopefully soon I’ll have the time and energy for bigger and better projects, but for now, I’m going to rest.

Mori met Sanji when he attempted to trade a few fishes he caught for a bowl of soba. Sanji couldn't find it in him to leave this child all alone to fend for himself and offered for him to stay with him as his little helper. and we KNOW Sanji would've given him a soba bowl for free.

Mori's name is one of the most important aspects in this story; he has no name to call his own and he doesn't remember what his original name was. all he knows is that he was abandoned as baby. Mori asked Sanji to only give him a name if the cook really wants to keep him in his life. so through the whole story, Sanji kept calling Mori for "kaiso" (seaweed).

through the Wano arc, Sanji and Mori develops a deep bond and Mori proves himself being a brave, resourceful and strong boy capable of fighting. although Mori doesn't get his name until near the end of the arc, when the Straw Hats are departing Wano and Sanji takes him in as his adoptive son, giving his name Mori which means "forest".

yes, this is also a ZoSan story as well. his official name, in the end, becomes Roronoa Mori. because Sanji obviously takes Zoro's surname and severs his ties with Germa for good

yes, Mori has his own katana. it gets important later, since it's a relic from his birth father (a samurai who was killed for standing by the bushido code, he sent his son away to protect him). it looks small, but the katana is, in fact, bigger than it looks like.

Muriel finds your work and takes it upon himself to fix the worn down sweater. Not for any particular reason no, no... he just found a sweater that seemed to fit him....

The objective is a complicated one, but it was supposed to be simple with the aid of magic.

The spell is a simple one, but the objective you want to achieve has made it overly complicated.

You wanted a longer sweater for the upcoming months something long on the lower end with equally long sleeves to tuck your hands and legs into when it got particularly cold, turning yourself into a ball of soft fabrics—a sponge of soft fabrics when you inevitably leaned against Muriel.

There were a handful of well failed attempts that you've since set aside to mess around with later with the help of some borrowed yarn from Portia , or attempts that near destroyed the sweater you were working on. Thankfully the bunch you've targeted using, were either sweaters that have already been worn to bits and a handful of cheaply bought sweaters for more experimentation.  

From the various failed attempts you have one sweater that ended up with sleeves so long you could use it for a scarf. Another attempt stole fabric from the sleeves to lengthen the torso portion, and one of the attempts had simply made the woolen material far, far, far too thick to work with. Each were an interesting discovery in their own right of course, with the latter one in particular being added as a possible adjustment you would like to make to your end result. Not as thick as the material at hand of course, but something akin to that amount.

Beneath your fingers the well worn fabric of one of your more damaged sweaters stretches and expands. Fabric spills over your lap, as threads twist and turn growing thicker or longer depending on your desires, and as the light finally dims from it's passage through your fingertips and into the very fibers of the sweater you find yourself with a substantially larger and thicker sweater, fluffy and soft, though a little too big around the collar, and the sleeves seemed a pinch too loose. Practically perfect though! You promptly turn your attention to the target sweater you're intent on changing setting aside the successful practice to join the other attempts and work at slowly expanding the sweater. It doesn't take long before your sweater is now larger and comfier and fluffier around you, and very eagerly, you dash out of the hut intent on showing off your new creation.

Muriel returns, to the pleasantly warm confines of the hut. You're still outside, having gone on a quick trip to the marketplace, to go grab some groceries intent on getting the most important goods before the worst of an upcoming snowstorm hit. Snow wasn't exactly common in Vesuvia but on the odd occasion a wash of cold weather sweeps through, sometimes bringing snow, sometimes only bringing ice. While Muriel felt far more comfortable than most in the cold chilly temperatures, he knew full well he wasn't exactly a good example of an average citizen and though he knew how to manage his way through frost and snow, getting extra groceries was always a good help.

Extra cuddly items like sweaters and blankets couldn't hurt either.

Noticing the pile of thick fabric materials Muriel pokes his way through your failed attempts. You very eagerly showed off your brand new sweater, or well, old-ish sweater with brand new measurements. Made to protect even better against the cold beneath a water and wind proof cape. While you had tried to explain your process to him, bouncing around with glee at your success, Muriel found it difficult to imagine how you had been able to change the fabric to somehow create more of itself.

His hands stop at the sight of one sweater, well worn, and almost tearing at the seams. There's a little hole around the chest, and the sleeves seem to be moth-bitten, and he wonders how long you've had this. It's a much bigger size, clearly a victim of your testing for your sweater, and as he holds it up into the air to inspect it more, he finds it to almost fit his own size.

Tugging the fabric over his head, Muriel is greeted by a wash of scent. You've worn this sweater a lot surely. Perhaps as casual wear at some point of time. He recalls dimly seeing you wear it around the hut on the odd occasion, and though he feels slightly bad, he takes a moment to appreciate the feeling of being wrapped in something that smells so strongly of you.

When he finally pulls the sweater down, he finds the fabric fits him like a glove. No slouchiness or poofiness that you seemed so fond of in your own sweater, but it fits him, and it fits him well, even if there are a few odd holes amidst the seams.

Muriel takes off the sweater, setting it aside atop of your shared bed before he goes digging in the shelves of your stuff. Portia had lent the both of you some yarn at some point, if he recalled, perhaps he could patch a hole in this.

Muriel returns home a little later than you, and though you're curious to see what he's done while you were out helping Asra and hauling groceries, the question escapes you when you actually see him. Patched with little hearts Muriel wears your old and tattered sweater, the one you made a little too large for you, but perfectly fits him.

And when he walks in the door, he stops, stares, and drops the knitting tools he's likely borrowed from Portia.

And in typical fashion, his face grows pink

"Is that my...?" you barely finish your question before Muriel sputters his reply.

"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't.... There were a bunch of holes in it and...." Though you try to hide it, try to bite your lips and cover your mouth to hide your grin, there's no mistaking the delight and glee that fills your cheeks, as you grin. Just seeing it Muriel seems to grow worse, face growing redder and redder. "I... Uh.... I didn't ........... It was just there.........and I just thought..........."

You don't say anything, no longer finding any need to hide and instead unabashedly grinning from ear to ear, pleased as punch at the sight of Muriel wearing your clothes. It fits him so nicely, you're almost upset you hadn't thought of doing so yourself.

He goes quiet in reply, staring down at the floor as smoke seems to puff from his ears, while Inanna rolls her eyes behind him and starts headbutting him in through the door. He scrambles to pick up his things at the gesture closing the door and keeping the chill from filling your little home.

Still he tries not to look at you. And yet you can't help but poke and prod.

"Is it comfy?"

He almost jumps at the question. "I.... Yeah. It's really soft and....." His mouth snaps shut with a faint click of his teeth, as he returns to busying himself with putting away the tools Portia let him borrow.

It's just a few tools, in any other scenario, he'd just set them on the shelf and sort it out later, there was no need for him to hem or haw over any container to put them into.

He just doesn't want to look at you right now, doesn't want to see the grin you have at seeing him in your clothes or at what he almost—

"and what?"

He doesn't have to reply, but you both know he will anyways.

With a soft and tepid voice, Muriel turns to just glance at you from the corner of his eye. "It..... It smells nice."

He doesn't say "it smells like you," but you both know that's what he means, and though you can't quite manage a pout around your grin you still lift up the sleeves of your sweater, and open your arms up to him.

"Aww, could you help me make mine smell nice as well?"

And though red faced, and still blushing, Muriel finally turns to you with a smile. How could he not? The prospect of a hug far too enticing, though he still tries to look away to hide it.

Curling up into your arms as his own come up to wrap around you, the both of you find the overwhelming warmth... Pleasant.

Outside it's frigid, icy and cold.

Inside, it's toasty and warm beneath your blanket like sweaters, and the feeling of being totally engulfed the presence of each other.

WIP Wednesday (9/25) | Vampire Andrew AU (Part 183)

When they get back to the dorms, after everyone's had their little check up with Abby, Andrew brings Kevin to the bedroom and locks the door behind them. He doesn't want interference from his relatives and unlike Andrew, they can be stopped by a simple lock. Andrew turns to find Kevin sitting on the bottom bunk just how he'd been earlier. He glances up at Andrew and back down at his shoes. 

From a simple peek into his head, Andrew can see Kevin isn't scared of him. Not really. Not that way. He's just mildly terrified of what Andrew's going to say. He knows Andrew heard all his thoughts back at the stadium. But he also knows Andrew is still pissed at him.

"I was pissed at you, Day. Not anymore. We already talked about it, remember?" Andrew says, answering his thoughts. Just after he finished cleaning up Kevin's arm, Andrew went out for a bite of something with slightly less brains than Kevin. (He managed a couple of bunny rabbits and a weird-looking bird. Speaking of which, he thinks he's got a feather stuck in his teeth. It's driving him more insane.) 

He got back just before the team meeting began. Just in time to pick up the others. His little trip to the woods hadn't completely dampened his thirst. As soon as Neil stepped into the parking lot, Andrew was focused on him. Since he was focused on not biting a chunk out of Neil's shoulder for the whole car ride, Andrew didn't get a chance to break the news to Neil about their upcoming party. He'll do it later.

"I'm sorry. I—"

"Ah, ah, ah. This is not Kevin Talk time. This is Andrew Talk time." Andrew says, zipping Kevin's lips from across the room. "I do not want any more apologies. We spoke about it in the hallway, we did that then. Apparently it bears repeating: You have no reason to be afraid. I am with you. More importantly, you are with me.

"I will never let anyone hurt you. Ever. From Neil to Riko and Tetsuji to the National fucking Guard. No one will touch you. I will not allow it. You are mine and I will keep you safe. Stop worrying. I am here. You are here. You are never going back there.

"I don't care how worried the others are, I don't care how big and scary Riko thinks he is. I am bigger; I am scarier. And like you said— thought— earlier, I will hear them coming."

Kevin's heart is a herd of wild mustangs in his chest, the sound of it inviting and addicting. Andrew listens to it and to Kevin's thoughts until the human finally opens his stupid, pretty mouth. "I know. I know you'll keep me safe, Andrew."

"Then we have no problems. Except for the matter of you choosing Coach over me. That was bad, Kevin. You hurt my feelings."

Kevin lets out a laugh and Andrew smiles with all his teeth.

"I'm serious Kevin. You've mortally wounded me."

"I can tell," Kevin says, then his thoughts stray a bit. The thought of being wounded takes Kevin to his scuffed up arm earlier, then his mind jumps into horny territory. Andrew clears his throat and Kevin swallows. "It's not my fault. You're the one who was licking me all sensually."

"Sensually." Andrew starts to work a fingernail in between his teeth.

"Yeah. My eyes were closed but I could feel it."

"You lie. I licked the blood off you as clinically as possible."

"Clinical like a porno set in a doctor's office maybe." Kevin says, leaning back on the bed.

Andrew scoffs. "I think you need a new adult website. Yours sounds supremely boring."

"Andrew, you know it's not just..." Kevin trails off for a moment, thinking about what to say. It’s idiotic because Andrew is getting both the edited and raw versions. Kevin seems to remember that and looks back up. "It's not just physical. I care about you. The fact that your mouth is on me once a week is just a bonus."

"Don't word it that way." Andrew finally dislodges the bit of feather from his teeth and fishes it out of his mouth with a couple fingers, grimacing at it before flicking it away.

"How should I word it?"

"You are food to me, Kevin. The fact that you haven't got fur or feathers is just a bonus."

"Okay." Kevin doesn't seem happy to hear it, but he nods. "Fine. If that's all you want, fine."

"That's all I want."

Kevin doesn't hear the lie. Instead, he sighs and changes the topic. "I assume Neil made it back to the dorm alive?"

After realizing it was all a shitty prank, they set out for revenge. Their plan: show up to an upcoming Halloween office party as a genuine couple, convincing the pranksters they genuinely fell in love and refusing to let themselves become the butt of the joke.

The Fairest of All Stars is currently being posted on AO3, Tumblr, and Patreon. It's a sapphic fantasy! My only fantasy story I've ever tried writing. It's very self-indulgent.

Years after the incident, she is fierce and feared and recovering from a tropical fever that wiped out half her crew. Just as they’re about to dock, they find an injured siren left behind by her choir. Andy, drawn to her, pulls her onto the ship and decides to keep her there until she recovers. But with the Navy hunting for both pirates and sirens, Andy has just made her ship an even bigger target for an iniquitous captain looking for revenge.

On a Few Terms and Conditions is a WIP still very much in its infancy. The summary thus far:

Youngest child of a prominent, political family, Miles was once hailed a boy genius. Valedictorian of his private high school, full ride to study politics in D.C., promising career ahead of him. But by junior year of college he has a major issue: he’s on academic probation. To keep it a secret from his parents and the public eye, he has to secretly find a tutor to get caught up over the summer in order to graduate on time. The solution: Liam, the youngest of another political family who may or may not hate Miles. Throw in some political drama, Miles’ bad habits catching up to him, a little romance, and they’re all in for an interesting summer.

Angel is a project I've been working and re-working over and over again. I'm very, very passionate about it, but the plot is all over the place. There are a few WIP posts up on Tumblr.

And it's all very confusing for Angel who's just trying to keep up with the image his company made for him when he was 15.

1.) Biggest surprise while writing this year?

Developing an interest in Gunsmoke. That was an accident, I swear.

2.) How many WIPs do you have in your docs for next year?

I have every intention of trying to make 2025 year the year of completion. I am finishing the last two of my short Gunsmoke fics (The Horse Thief and Venom in Violet), and after that, I'm going to finish typing my multiple notebooks of content on IN A DREAM YOU FOUND A WAY TO SURVIVE AND YOU WERE FULL OF JOY (believe it or not, this fic is almost completely finished... IN my notebooks, not on my computer). Then, I'm going to finish my Gunsmoke multichapter, dead hands. And after that, my priorities include trying to tackle the behemoth of repairing Not Bigger But Brighter and maybe completing Box Full of Darkness at long last.

So, I suppose the straight answer is I'm not planning on starting many, if any, new works next year; I'm hoping to bring several of my long unfinished fics to their finale.

3.) Favorite character to write this year?

JAMES EVAN WILSON. Without challenge. I invented his entire family and gave them a complex lore for my Hilson HS AU fic (unpublished and I intend to keep it that way). I love him so much, and I took a lot of liberties in giving him lore. To me, he's almost an OC in a way. I definitely love him more than any of the others! He's my blorbo.

4.) The character that gave you the most trouble this year?

I'm gonna go with Lisa Cuddy. I feel like my portrayal of her has strengthened with time, but she's a struggle for me, which is probably why I haven't written any Stacy/Cuddy fic, even though I adore the ship an unreasonable amount and rarely see work for them.

5.) What's one pairing you want to explore next year?

Stacy/Cuddy!

6.) Did you receive any gifts this year?

I believe I got tagged in a couple posts on Tumblr! But no, I didn't receive any gift fics on AO3.

7.) Did you do any collaborative works this year?

Other than private roleplays, no. But my beta does a bombass job!

8.) What do you listen to while writing?

While I'm actively writing (thinking of words to write down), I listen to white noise. While I'm transcribing @libbymania I sometimes will listen to music instead of white noise, or rarely I'll listen to an old radio episode. For brainstorming and sometimes transcribing, I try to make playlists for each one of my fics! And when I'm searching for inspiration, I'll often scroll down have-you-heard-this-band and listen to 2-3 songs of each of the last 10 artists and try to glean ideas from the fresh music. This exposes me to a lot of music I otherwise never would have heard, and I've found a lot of my new favorite bands this way!

9.) Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?

Uhhhhh there are a lot and I'm sure there are more in the notebooks I haven't transcribed! But this is a section from an upcoming chapter of JOY!

As [Wilson] studied House’s face, azure eyes pooling with tears (stinging from the wind, perhaps, or perhaps genuinely distressed, genuinely fearful, though the notion of the latter was uncomfortable, so he pushed it away), he lost all of his words. He could say nothing kind enough, acerbic enough, observant enough, to greet the sight of House’s mouth hanging agape, the overworn wool hat dangling from between his fingers, his shoulders loose and helpless in posture, the slouch to the right where his knee could no longer fully straighten—this was the powerless man who had flanked Wilson’s bedside for months, the one he had seen in his lucid dreams when he was immobilized by drugs and could only view the world when someone held his eyes open, always hunched in pain, sometimes staring, sometimes too weak to look. House was staring now, fighting for his composure. Wilson waited for it to reassemble.

He closed his mouth, swallowing tightly, shifting his jaw. He tucked the hat into the pocket of his jacket, extending an open-palmed hand to Wilson, fingers curling to beckon him back. He didn’t speak. But he was pleading for Wilson to return.

He had no choice but to fall back, obediently placing his hand in House’s, where he was tugged persistently back to his side. “I wasn’t anywhere near the edge.”

The quick sentence was easy to make out on his lips. “I know.” House was squeezing his hand tight enough to hurt.

“Then why were you scared?”

“I wasn’t scared.” The grip didn’t loosen. Wilson gingerly broke away from it.

“You looked scared.”

Web Update #3: Final Gallery Section & Commission Updates!

Hello all! Happy Fall! 🍂🍁☕🍄🌰

As the cooler weather approaches, it’s time to bring my big website gallery overhaul to a close with the final (for now) section- the Passion Projects Section! Here I’ve documented 3 of my bigger projects (including my most recent doll of Mr. Dream).

Now for the big one- Commission Updates!

As longtime BB fans know, I’ve been opening commissions on a bi-yearly basis, to give myself the summer to finish my own projects (or even -gasp- have other hobbies!) This year, the summer has been focused on beamiesbuddies.com, as well as working on my first new line of original dolls (which I PROMISE I will start sharing soon!)

The summer was also full of activity lifewise for me, most good & some not so much. As such, I’m a little behind where I wanted to be at this time, & more than a little burnt out. I wanted to open up commissions this month for the upcoming holiday season, but being realistic, I don’t think I would be able to deliver my best work with so much still going on/needing finishing. (One of the things needing doing is the shop on this website, after all!)

Therefore: I will be opening commissions as of January 2025, for the winter season. Big apologies to those who wanted to commission me for Xmas gifts & such, but this will allow me to get a good head start on my ready-made dolls & hopefully have them up by late fall in time for holiday gift purchasing time. So you may not get a personalized character, but you could have another very cool original themed doll ;)

November 1st I will be opening up slots for the January commissions, which I will announce at that time. So, if you wanted to grab a gift for a friend, maybe you can give them the gift of a Beamie’s Buddies Custom Commission Slot? 👀

I can’t wait to share my upcoming dolls with you as I think they are looking super cute & I have so many ideas for future ones. In all my years I have never really gotten to let my imagination go & make my own characters, I feel like I’m unlocking new potential as a doll artist.

Well, hello there! Welcome to my page! Thought I'd finally get around to writing and pinning an intro, seeing as my writeblr recommendations post has gone STRATOSPHERIC and I've followed so many new accounts!

I'm Jeb (he/him), 20 years old, and an aspiring writer, poet and disaster dork from New Zealand (who currently lives in the UK - England, to be more precise). I'm a huge lover of writing and reading science fiction works, particularly hard sci-fi - Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey series and his novel The Songs of Distant Earth were the works that inspired a young me to start taking writing seriously. I also write fanfiction, romance, horror, a smidgen of fantasy, spy fiction... whatever takes my fancy, basically! I also love writing and reading poetry, and hope to have some of my poems published professionally by the end of 2023!

Outside of writing, I'm a huge motorsport lover. Formula One is my main passion, and in fact I originally joined tumblr to post about my then-WIP, The Edge Of Control. TEOC may be in cryogenic storage, but my love of speed and high-octane racing remains: I regularly watch F1, IndyCar and the World Endurance Championship. I also love spaceflight, astronomy, Shakespeare, teen movies from the 80s/90s (ESPECIALLY John Hughes' work), many cheesy romcoms and lasagna. (What? It's literally the perfect food!)

Hello! Today's update is very exciting because we have so much to share!

Moving on... Meet Hayato Arihara, Atsuya's best friend! He is laid-back but can be a class clown sometimes. In an older update we shared a design sketch of him, but this time he returns in colour!

Just a lil bit from my upcoming chapter for Waiting for Yesterday.

A question nagged at her like a sore tooth as she continued onward. The same question, over and over. What would she do if she could change the future?

It was a question that every person who’d ever existed had likely pondered. The chance to right wrongs, to fix mistakes before they happened, or to prevent tragedies that changed the course of one’s life forever.

There was no fixing Mindoir or Akuze, but would she change a detail about the catastrophe that was her personal life? Maybe she should write herself a stern warning to not fall for the handsome, devoted turian that lived in the main battery of her ship, as well as the periphery of every waking thought she had. Then maybe two broken hearts could be spared.

Even though she’d given him up willingly and would likely never hear his laugh or feel the heat of his breath on her skin again, she wouldn't trade in a second with Garrus for anything.

Besides, there were bigger stakes at play than her love life, and Commander Shepard’s life wasn’t really her own, anyway.

Fic Writer Q & A

How many wips do you have currently?

Excluding notes and brief scribblings, and counting just projects I've written a substantial amount for? Literally 30. About half of those have seen new writing/edits in the last six months, if we want to define some kind of "active" status.

Which one are you finding the hardest to finish?

Clearly, I struggle to finish my fics broadly 🙃 But I have been fighting tooth and nail with one story for an upcoming zine, and I can't put my finger on why! It's not long or complicated, but it's just been an utter slough to write up. Apart from that, probably Come Back Alive, my Appalachian horror spin on Yi City, just because that one IS quite long and complicated. It's been three and a half years in the works, and I'm still trying to stick the landing in terms of climax and resolution.

What does it usually look like when inspiration strikes for you?

Depends on the sort of inspiration! If a story concept or an idea for a plot point hits me, I'll try to throw it into a document or on a private discord server I have that's expressly for this kind of brainstorming. Other times, a particular line might come to me, and I'll try to capture that in a similar fashion, but that might get me writing for several hours. Inspiration might come from a movie or a TV show, or very often from music.

Do you curate playlists for each fic or is your process different?

Not for every fic, but for the bigger projects, yes! I have about 7 fic playlists between WIPs and fics I've actually posted. Like I said, I often get inspiration from songs, so I like gathering those in one place. My playlists tend to be 1) repositories for songs that already are/could be inspiration for the plot, relationships, or setting (this is especially true for AUs that are far removed from canon!) and/or 2) mixes I can put on the background as I write that can put me in the right headspace/atmosphere without distracting me. Other times I need quiet, or generic instrumentals, or ambient soundscapes -- it all depends.

Do you go balls to the wall and write as you go or are you more organized?

I need to be organized when I write, or I will get frustrated because I can't make sense of what I'm doing with the plot. "Balls to the wall," for me, typically leads to some really pretty paragraphs, or a good, scene, but I'm not all that much closer to a coherent, finished story. I get stuck in the "edit as you write" habit really easily. So I need a roadmap to keep me on track, definitely, and I also need to work on throwing out rougher first drafts.
