'The Cassidy Project' - Cassidy 07 is the only one of 9 (or 10?!) clones of the original Cassidy that lives with the Dimarcheios. 'The Cassidy Project' was started after Cassidy Dimechairo - the original Cassidy - died of an unknown disease. The mother - Jessica Dimechairo - was the head of the project. After the explosion in the facility, and the escape of the clones, 'The Cassidy Project' was officialy canceled.
Cassidy 07 is mostly at ease with being an artificial being - a copy - so she was allowed to remain with the Dimarcheios - as a replacement of their deceassed daugher. The Dimarcheios are wealthy so Cassidy 07 lives a very comfortably life.
Other clones of the Cassidy still remain in the Jeans Shaker Oasis but Cassidy 07 doesn't remember any of them. Though, it didn't take her long to cross parts with one of the other Cassidy's.
During one of her visits in the local Shopping Centre she run into Cassidy 08. She looked just like her feature-wise...which was extremely annoying. So Cassidy 07 proposed to go get a makeover together - it was just weird not to do so. Cassidy 08 agreed. (Cassidy 08 after a makeover was lazily added in since I didn't took a picture of her back then, I wasn't planing to document my gameplay that much đ€Ł)
After returning home late in the evening Cassidy 07 went to bed, but her sleep was pretty restless - propably due to meeting for the first time somebody who was bearing the same face as her.
#sims 2#ts2#jeans shaker oasis#the dimarcheios#Cassidy 07#Cassidy 08#just some tiny introductions propably will happen#just to give some context to some stuff that are happenig in my game#the ghost thing gave me such a weird feeling#i didn't notice that the grave of the Cassidy was on the lot đ#the very 1st time I saw her was just as it is on the pictures#i was taking screenshoots of Cassidy 07 while she was sleeping (very creepy ik) and then turned the camera to the other side of the room#and she was there#and then just vanished when i moved the camera over two times for another angle đŹ

Perspective basics. Part 4: Horizons.
I've mentioned that all lines that parallel with the ground will have their vanishing points on the horizon. Let's figure out why.
If you try to measure every angle parallel to the ground from your station point, you will get a flat plane. And when a flat plane intersects another flat plane, the area they intersect will always be a straight line.
And so. all lines that are parallel with the ground will appear on the same straight line, the horizon.
Looking at this there are a couple of things that we can learn about how the horizon behaves.
First off, if the horizon is the result of drawing lines from our eyes and keeping them parallel with the ground when they move forwards, then the horizon will always be eye level.
This can be used to determine the height of the camera.
If an object is above the horizon then we are looking up at it. If an object is below the horizon then we are looking down at it. And if an object is on top of the horizon then we are looking straight ahead at it. Just put everything that is at the height of the camera on top of the horizon, and there go.
The other thing you'll find is that the phenomenon of lines that are parallel with the ground appearing on a straight line doesn't just work for the ground. If multiple lines are parallel with any flat surface then their vanishing points will always appear on a straight line, no matter the angle of that surface.
If you need to find a vanishing point that is not parallel with the ground, finding the âhorizonâ for a surface it is parallel with can make finding it way easier.
But how do you find these new âhorizonsâ? Easy, remember, they're just straight lines. All you need for a straight line is one point it crosses over and an angle. And if we have multiple points then we don't even need the angle, we can just draw the line through all of them. Luckily, perspective is filled with points we can use to find these lines.
Just find at least two vanishing points for lines that are leveled with that surface, and draw a line across them. The only time you will need to figure out the angle to find a horizon is when not all lines surrounding a surface are pointing towards vanishing points, like when you are drawing in one or two point perspective. But even then, it's easy to figure out, because the only time a line does not reach a vanishing point is when it is parallel to the horizon itâs on.
Once you have found multiple horizons, one thing you can do is look for where they overlap each other. A vanishing point that is on top of two horizons will be parallel with both of their surfaces. This can be used to draw the intersection of two planes.
If you imagine a wall and the ground as different surfaces intersecting each other, then you can figure out how to draw houses on a slope.
Start off by finding the vanishing points for a house as you usually would, then find the horizons for its walls. Afterwards, find the horizon for the slope that the house will sit on (if its an upward slope then this should be above the âtrueâ horizon, and if its a downward slope then it should be below it). Then all you need to do is look for where the horizons for the sides of the house overlap the horizon for the slope, and you now have the vanishing points for where the house makes contact with the ground.
All surfaces are surrounded by multiple lines whose vanishing points can be used to find its horizon, and all lines are parallel with multiple surfaces whose horizons can be used to find its vanishing points. This creates a pretty nifty three part equation where if you have two parts, you can easily find the third.
Last thing I should probably point out is that the horizon that we use in perspective does not actually line up with the horizon we see in real life. In perspective, we are working with distances of infinity, and since our planet is not infinitely big, the horizon we see in the distance will usually be slightly below the horizon used in perspective. How much is determined by how far above the ground you are. Most of the time this distance is negligible, and you don't have to worry about it. But it can be good to know if you find yourself drawing things really close to the horizon.Â
In perspective, nothing will ever cross the horizon of the surface that it is moving across. The distance that it travels will simply appear to get smaller and smaller as it moves away, always keeping it slightly short of the horizon. But in real life, objects in the distance will not only reach the horizon, but they will also go behind it. And I find that putting things behind the horizon can sometimes create a nice sense of distance.
This concludes the basics.

Jadon Sancho
Jadon was working out and going live on Instagram. Someone wasnât really pleased about that.
JADON SANCHO IS THIS REALLY NECESSARY?
Jadon noticed the notification popped up on his phone screen.
He was doing a workout session with his friends. It was an ordinary afternoon and it was quite hot in Manchester. Jadon was quite pumped up and had just jumped on the treadmill, when he thought that maybe he could give the people on Instagram a little update. His move to United was exciting not only for him but also for the fans. It would be good to show everyone that he was keeping himself in shape even on his holiday, that he would be fully ready when he came to train at the club.
He posted a few videos to Instagram story and decided to go on live for a bit. Comments and hearts were flooding in and Jadon slightly smirked when he saw some people saying that he looked good. He was all shirtless and sweaty, absolutely enjoying himself, and he had to agree that he indeed looked good. Just some more work to do and he would be in the shape he wanted.
But his smirk immediately vanished. The live hadn't even gone for two minutes, when he noticed the message, in full capitals, from someone whose contact name had a red heart and a red rose on it. Only one person had those special emojis attached to their name. After reading the message properly, with a slight panic rising in his mind, Jadon quickly ended his Instagram live.
"Bro, can you turn the music down, please?" Jadon said to his friend, who kindly did what he asked. The next second, Jadon was already calling someone for a video call.
"Really?" She stared at the camera in disbelief.
"Really?" She stared at the camera in disbelief.
"Really?" She stared at the camera in disbelief.
"What? What did I do?"
"You're just trying to get all the girls to drool over you, aren't you?"
Jadon had a confused look on his face as he tried to process her question. But then he was laughing out loud, he even needed to hold on to the handle for balance. He lowered the speed of the treadmill, before adjusting the position of his phone for a better angle.
"Are you jealous, baby girl?" Jadon teased her. She rolled her eyes as a response, making Jadon chuckle again. "Admit it, you like this view, don't you?"
"Why does it matter? It's not me you're trying to show it off to," she shrugged. "Well, just inform me later, if those influencers have slipped into your dms again," she sounded really displeased, and Jadon was taken aback by the hint of irritation in her voice.
"Whoa, whoa, are you okay, baby?"
She pouted and huffed, throwing the pen she was holding to the table. "Sorry, it's just another stressful meeting. And it's cold here, I think it's going to rain tonight... And you're not here."
"Oh, babe... I'm sorry," Jadon said, realizing that she wasn't in a good mood. "Hey, come on. You're gonna be here in two weeks, right?" He tried to offer her a smile. Things had been tough on her, his moving to Manchester clearly made it harder, and he wished he was there with her in Dortmund.
"Yeah... But it's hard, Jadon." She didn't say what was hard, but Jadon understood that being far away from each other was hard, a long distance relationship was hard.
"I know, baby, I know. But it won't always be hard like this, okay?"
She nodded. "Just don't go on Instagram looking like that," she protested. "I'll only be able to see that in person once every two months, you know?"
Jadon chuckled again. "Yeah, yeah, sorry. I didn't mean to upset you," Jadon said with a softer tone. "I miss you, baby girl. Hey, should I send some selfies? Looking like this? Only for you this time."
Jadon could see her pout turned into a grin, the cheeky grin of hers that he missed him so much, and it sent some butterflies to his stomach. He bit his lower lip, trying to control himself. Because, damn, she also looked super good in that brown blazer.
Jadon saw her face getting closer to the camera and he knew she was teasing him now as she said, "You better."
Jadon felt his heart skip a beat. If he was there right now, he knew he would already be attacking her with kisses.

Just a Normal Day
A short drabble about sea grunks having an average adventure, written in honor of their birthday.
Even before they got attacked by the Cthulhu beast, it had been a pretty average morning on the sea for the Pines twins.
Wake up at the crack of dawn (Ford) or closer to late morning (Stan); eat breakfast; reset the spell to ward off the vengeful leprechauns who might still be after them for stealing their treasure in case theyâd figured out they were chasing a decoy trail by now; do a little late morning fishing, while keeping an eye out for that golden fish Stan was sure heâd seen swimming under their boat last week, and which he was hoping laid golden fish eggs or something; finally notice what time it was (Stan) and head inside to make lunch.
Just another normal day.
Stan was examining their supplies, trying to decide if it was worth breaking out some of the canned hamburger meat and throwing together sloppy Joes instead of making them eat fish again, when he was knocked skiwampus by the boat being yanked to a halt; as he struggled to regain his balance by grabbing onto the table, a vicious, blood-curdling roar came rumbling through the air from outside.
Stan sighed, and wondered if the kraken was back. In one swift motion he grabbed the spare harpoon they had hanging over the door, and stepped out to see if Ford needed help dealing with it.
It wasnât the kraken.
It still looked like some kinda big octopus monster, though, with a mass of writhing tentacles where its face should be, and a bulbous head in the back just like an octopus body. The rest of it, at least as far as the torso, was kinda like a humanâs but a little bigger (about the size of a baby whale), with slimy-looking green-brown skin and a pair of big, wrinkled, wet wings sticking out of its back. Whatever this thing was, it had grabbed onto the back of their boat, and was looming menacingly over Ford as Stan stepped outside.
â...and you are now my prisoners!â he bellowed, as his piercing golden eyes landed on Stan. âSurrender your weapons now, puny mortals, and I might be merciful!!!!â
âYeesh, did we trespass on his territory or something?â Stan asked, leaning on the harpoon.
Ford shrugged with one shoulder, since he was trying to write in his journal at the same time. âHe didnât really say; he just jumped onboard and started threatening me.â
âHuh.â Stan looked up at the beast. âYou the lord of this part of the ocean or whatever?â
The beast blinked-which looked pretty weird, his eyelids went sideways instead of up and down like humans-before nodding vigorously. âYes! I am the lord of this part of the ocean, and you must surrender to me now, or else suffer my wrath!!!!â He slammed a fist down against the side of the boat, making it rock up and down so hard he had to scrabble to keep his balance. Stan coughed into his fist to hold back a snicker.
Ford tilted his head. âI could have sworn this was still the primary territory of the Manatee-Merfolk Alliance. Are you sure you havenât made some kind of mistake?â
âWhat part of prisoners did you not understand?!â the beast demanded, spreading out his wings and shaking them as his tentacles writhed angrily. âGive up your weapons, now-all of them!!!!â
â...You sure you want that? Itâs kind of gonna take awhile-â
âNOW, or I crush your boat in my mighty fist!!!!â
Stan glanced at Ford, who rolled his eyes and nodded. With a small sigh, they began disarming themselves.
********
...A minute passed and they were still at it.
Fordâs pile of weapons was almost as tall as he was, mostly consisting of long-range weapons like guns, but with a few vials of poisons and some handcuffs thrown into the mix.
Stanâs pile was more proportionate, but the number of places that weapons were produced from (including a smoke bomb that heâd somehow managed to keep tucked under his beanie) was frighteningly impressive.
The monster watched their progress with increasingly wide eyes; finally, as Stan produced another set of brass knuckles out of a secret pocket sewn onto the inside of his coat, he spluttered, â...Where were you keeping those?â
Stan just grinned shamelessly. âTrust me, sunshine, you donât wanna know.â
âOkay, I think thatâs everything,â Ford said at last, indicating the pile of weaponry.
âYeah, well, Iâm still workinâ, gimme a minute.â Stan produced a switchblade, and tossed it onto his pile. Then, in a brief sleight of hand, he snatched another one from the pile and pretended to draw it out of his coat to toss it on next. âHey, tentacles-face-ya think you could bring us back by Wednesday? We got a Zoom appointment ta keep, and our niece and nephew hate it when weâre late.â Another sleight of hand allowed him to scoop up another weapon.
âThatâs not how this-now see here!â The monster drew himself up to his full height, nearly falling backwards off the boat. âYou guys-you puny mortals are my prisoners! And as such, you need to understand that this is not a joking matter! I could squash you both like sea slugs if I wished! Iâm all-powerful, an eons-old abomination whose very name would send you into madness if spoken aloud! So you better start quaking in fear and begging for mercy like proper captives!!!!â
Stan looked at Ford. âSounds like weâre his first.â He looked back at the monster. âYouâre doinâ great, buddy-good job on the whole threatening schtick.â He offered a thumbs-up, while using the other hand to snag another weapon that he pretended to produce from another hiding spot.
Ford winked at him, and looked back at their âcaptor.â âIs this some sort of coming-of-age ritual for your species?â He produced his journal again, pen poised. âVery clever move, by the way, threatening our boat to get us to disarm ourselves. In the future, though, I would suggest that you try taking one of us hostage first, in order to create maximum-â
âSTOP IT!â
The monster abruptly started pounding his fists against the side of the boat, nearly tipping it over before instead pitching him all the way onto the deck. âYOUâRE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO-IâM YOUR-ITâS NOT FAIR-!â
It took Stan a moment to realize that the angry noises leaving his mouth (?) were accompanied by the sound of frustrated sobs.
He hissed through his teeth, and shot Ford a guilty look.
â...Oh boy. Looks like we got a little one here.â
********
Stan crossed the boat and crouched down in front of the weeping monster, putting a hand on his back and rubbing the spot right between his wings.
âDeep breaths, in and out. Youâre not gonna get anything done like this, so just take a bit ta calm down, okay?â
The monster hiccuped and coughed, shrinking in on himself in a way that was painfully familiar to both of them.
Ford knelt down at his other side. âMaybe if you tell us why this is so important to you, we can provide some assistance?â
The monster shook his head and buried his head in his arms. âI just wanted-hic-to show my friends I could catch the Pines twins all by myself,â he croaked.
The two old men looked at each other in a mixture of surprise and slight alarm. â...You know who we are?â
That was finally enough to get him to sit up, wiping his eyes with his tentacles. âYou kidding? Every creature of the seas knows who you are! Youâre the guys who beat up krakens and steal gold from leprechauns and then you and your boat vanish without a trace! Youâre the coolest cryptids ever!â
It took both of them a moment to digest that. By the time they did, though, they were grinning in equal delight.
âWeâre cryptids?!â Ford asked, eyes practically brimming over with overjoyed tears.
âYeah! And people at school were sayinâ youâre just a myth, but I knew you were real cuz my uncle saw your ship up in the Arctic last winter, and I was gonna capture you and bring you to class to show everyone how wrong they were and then Iâd be famous and theyâd stop calling me a weird runt all the time!â After a second his wings drooped, and he stared miserably down at the deck. â...Guess it was pretty dumb of me to think I could catch you all by myself.â
Stan put a hand on his shoulder. â...Kid...as much as we wanna help, we canât just be your prisoners. We got our own lives ta get back to.â
âPlus, neither of us is able to breathe underwater,â Ford added.
The monster sighed, and pulled a strip of kelp from around his neck, turning one of the leaves until it was facing him. He squirted a stream of black ink from one of his tentacles, and dipped the tip of another one into the ink and used it to trace something that looked like a bunch of gobbledygook to Stan onto the leaf. âHumans...donât...breathe...underwater.â
Awww...heâs a super nerd, just like Ford and Dipper!
That gave Stan an idea.
âHey.â He nudged the monster. âWhat about a picture of us instead? Along with genuine proof of a close encounter?â
The monsterâs head jerked up. âA picture?! Like with one of those weird magic boxes you humans carry around sometimes?!â
âThatâs the one.â Stan grinned. He looked at Ford and jerked his head towards the cabin; his brother took the hint and headed for it, returning with an antique Polaroid camera that Ford had been experimenting on, but still took good pictures.
The monsterâs tentacles began writhing around his face like theyâd come to life, and he let out a high-pitched squeal of excitement.
âThis is the greatest day of my life!!!!â
********
It took a bit of staging and directing and trying out different angles, but eventually they produced a set of photos that appeared to be of an eldritch abomination in training being attacked by, and bravely fighting off, the ferocious monster hunter Pines twins (hopefully nobody would think to ask how and why the monster had managed to get these pictures taken).
Then, while Stan took them into the cabin and soaked them in a special substance Ford had invented that would render them waterproof, Ford sat on the prow next to the young cryptid enthusiast and offered tips on future hunting adventures, comparing notes with him on some of the creatures theyâd both seen. He also (with permission) took a few samples from the monster, including a long strip of skin (âMake it look like a wound I got in the fight! Man, this is gonna be so cool, Yog-Sothoth is gonna eat his heart out! Possibly literally!â) and some of the ink from his tentacles.
When Stan came back with the photos, he also handed over one of his spare brass knuckles that had lost a corner. âHave another souvenir, kid.â
The monsterâs tentacles lashed out and wrapped around their faces in what felt like a really weird version of a hug before pulling away, leaving them covered in some of the slimy stuff they were coated in.
âThank you so much! I really really hope the leprechauns donât catch you-if they come this way Iâll make sure to eat some of them so they wonât!â He waved at them joyfully as he dived back into the ocean and disappeared.
********
After a moment Stan wiped his face on his coat sleeve.
â...Well, that happened.â
He turned away and began gathering up his weapons.
âSuch a strange mixture of childlike innocence and barbarity,â Ford mused as he pulled out a jar and gathered the slime into it for yet another sample. âHis culture must be fascinating-I almost wish he would have taken us with him so I could have seen it.â
âYou wouldâve drowned before you could gather any data.â
â...You donât know that.â
âHe literally didnât know that humans canât breathe underwater, Sixer. Not gonna happen.â
He ignored Fordâs sulking and kept cleaning, while musing to himself over the possible monetary opportunities being a couple of cryptids could bring...

___________________
Starstruck.Â
Thatâs how you had first felt when you had met Crypto.Â
You were a new camera operator on the set of the Apex games, someone who got all the good angles and made sure the drone cameras could really catch all the action. Youâd met him the same season heâd been introduced, noting how heâd been cold and disregarding, yet appeared confident in himself. But his eyes, theyâd been so...paranoid. Especially when you approached to introduce yourself as one of the camera operators.Â
Heâd regarded you with a short, quick nod. Odd, youâd thought. But that had quickly vanished when Elliott had taken you aside and chatted you up, an arm slung around your shoulder and a grin on his face. âHey, donât mind the kid, probably still jet lagged, dropships, beinâ legends and all- anyway sooooo I hear you operate those cameras now, huh? Make sure you get all my good angles- not that any of them are bad, just, you know, keep that attention on the money maker you feel me? The money maker being me, of course-âÂ
~Rest under the cut~
âMirage.â Cryptoâs voice had cut in between you two, watching as you both had turned and you could note his irritated look at Elliott before a much more apologetic one was glanced your way. âApologies. He does not understand personal boundaries-âÂ
Elliott feigns a dramatic gasp, cutting Crypto off with his free hand against his own chest as if wounded.Â
You stifle your laugh when Elliott keeps up the act, sputtering before pointing at Crypto accusingly. âWoah, woah, woah, Iâll have you know that I know this lovely thing. Used to be the tech head up iiiiiiin- audio, right?â He turns towards you after that, squeezing his arm around your shoulders in a friendly way as you beam at being remembered.Â
âThatâs right! I was actually hoping to speak to you, Crypto,â You gesture at him, noting Cryptoâs light surprise of raised eyebrows before confusion and worry passes his features. Quick to overthink, huh?Â
Youâre quick to follow up to ease his possible fears. âN-not! Not as an employee, I mean, I just- your, uh, your drone. They kinda remind me of an old camera used back in the day and I was wondering if you had any tips or tricks I might be able to pick up on?âÂ
Thatâs what started the relationship in the first place. Crypto, that day, had offered merely a one shouldered shrug, but after Mirage giving him a look and whining to him like a puppy, heâd agreed. Resulting in you having your own private session with him as he helped you learn a few tips. You were already trained in operating the newer models, but having a few pointers never hurt.Â
The entire time heâd asked questions about you, it almost felt like he was interrogating you rather than trying to start up curious small talk. But, to ease any fears he might have had about you having ulterior motives, you answered as honestly as possible to each one. Judging by his more paranoid nature, you didnât ask any in turn for fear of him shying away.Â
The least you wanted to do was make Crypto feel as though you were untrustworthy.Â
As you two grew closer, the more relaxed he became around you. No more tips were to be given, so that excuse flew out the window, so youâd offered hang outs. It took a few tries until he finally mumbled heâd feel more comfortable in his room, which is where you two ended up being and you learned he had a sweet little cat named Isabella-Marie.Â
You had smiled at her name, asking where he got the idea from, and heâd smiled softly- almost sadly when heâd said she was his sisterâs cat he took in, but no more information. Said cat took to you nicely, and just as she had, Crypto started warming up to you as well.Â
It was a slow, slow process. You took your time with him and learned that the personality he put on was nothing but a front. Something to keep more hidden. In private, heâs so soft, almost shy in his approach to you. Heâs still got his sarcastic tongue, but heâs more playful when in private with you. Much like a cat. You see him opening up the slightest bit to people heâs starting to enjoy too- Elliott and Natalie both seem to have won some sort of favor with him.Â
That friendship slowly worked its way into romantic.Â
The first time you kissed him is with your hand cupping his cheek and his cheeks flushed red as his dark eyes flickered to your lips multiple times until you took initiative. It took a bit of coaxing to even get him to rest his hands on your waist, but once that had happened, itâs like heâd been so touch starved all his life. Clinging to you and sighing into your mouth as if heâd just sunken into bed after a long day.Â
His need for touch didnât surprise you considering when you offered hugs and snuggles that heâd melt into you and cling to you so tightly. Your height difference, with you being much shorter, made that kind of funny when heâd lean down to bury his face in your neck and youâd stand on your tiptoes to make it easier. All within a private setting- outside of these rooms, you were both strictly professional.Â
Cryptoâs name had been revealed to you not long after. Tae Joon Park. You both agreed that if you used it frequently that you might yell it in public, so it was reserved for more intimate moments or serious when you two were alone. You were mindful about switching his name, so you kept to using âCryptoâ in your head to ensure you wouldnât fuck it up.Â
Though, it never failed to delight you in hearing him sigh fondly when youâd mumble his name by his ear after a sweet kiss.Â
Dates were more reserved for the bedrooms as well. You never minded that either, but sometimes on rare occasions, heâd don a mask and a hood so you two could go out. You could only imagine the type of anxiety those outings brought, but it always warmed your heart that he was willing to take a breath and push himself out to do these things for you. In turn, you would spend the nights with him, with his head on your chest and his arms squeezing around your middle.Â
Crypto, you quickly find however, is really bad at vocalizing his desires.Â
Heâs a man of action, hardly using his words and if he did it was one worded or quick. Youâve been trying to help him on communication skills for both your sakes, but itâs more difficult on him. It doesnât help that heâs quiet either, so sneaking up behind you to snake his arms around you normally results in you jumping and making a squeak sound.Â
But it also meant that for more...bedroom activities, that he would use actions. You always knew when he wanted something, you werenât blind to it, you just wanted to make 100% sure of what he wanted. Normally resulting in you straddling his lap, a hand around his neck and speaking low for him to tell you what he wanted.Â
Crypto always got the cutest face anytime you took the reins and control. A healthy flush over his cheeks, his breathing heavier and his eyes pleading, but his mouth refusing.Â
Stubborn was a good way to put it. How his eyebrows would furrow and heâd whimper and buck his hips up, but not tell you what he wanted. It took a lot of trial and error to even get him to utter âpleaseâ at times. Your poor baby.Â
You especially found you liked teasing him. Learning quick that he liked nicknames like âGood boyâ and âBaby boyâ. You enjoyed edging him, tying him up or even just making him cling to the sheets or his own hair as his hips humped the air and he sobbed without begging for you. Always trying so hard to convey in his body language what he wanted you to do.Â
You found yourself mesmerized by his desperation at a lot of times. Where Cryptoâs kiss flushed lips would part, his eyebrows knitted and his eyes frantic on you. His own hands gripping his hair to follow instructions on not to touch you as his hips thrust into the air and made his thick cock bob.Â
Sometimes you wondered if he could cum just by humping the air alone.Â
Another time, youâd always tell yourself, always so eager to hear that final sobbed out word of âPleaseâ before you would swing your legs over him and ride him hard and fast. Normally fit with cruel croons about what a sweet, pathetic little thing he looked like. Your very good boy.Â
Thatâs what you were thinking of now as you sat on the couch in his quarters, waiting for him to return from his match in the arena.Â
Isabella-Marie is happily purring in your lap as your hand strokes through her soft, strawberry blonde fur. Youâve set up there with a blanket over your lap that sheâs kneading happily, the match Crypto had been in having ended about an hour ago. You could tell he was struggling, too much talking around him that was reflecting in his steps.Â
Heâd been in a team with Mirage and Wattson, both people you knew he liked being around, but unfortunately, they kept striking up conversation. Leading to Crypto being off his rhythm. But it was nice to hear him breathe out in amusement at their antics sometimes, caught on the audio feed with the announcers crooning about how it looked like he made some friends finally.Â
They at least made it to the top three. Fighting valiantly to maintain their location on Worldâs Edge in the city. Mirage had gotten cocky when theyâd knocked two of the opposite team, going up to finish them off and ending up with a shotgun in the back and a cracking snarl in the sky of Bloodhound.Â
The rest is history. But, at least you knew Bloodhound wouldnât be the type to gloat and act cocky if they caught Crypto- at least out loud. Youâre glad it was them rather than Caustic. Bad blood ran deep between them, not to mention Natalie struggling herself with it all. You were glad her and Crypto could solve whatever issue it was that ran between them- one that not even you were aware of.Â
Security and secrecy, Crypto had told you with apology in his eyes. You understood, some things were best kept secret. Especially in case you accidentally got caught up in a mess, you could genuinely say you had no idea what was happening in all the legendsâ lives.Â
The beep of the door being unlocked makes Isabella-Marie awaken, doing a stretch across your lap before she chirps and hurries to the door to greet Crypto. She curls around his feet as he removes his shoes at the door before entering any further into the room in the rest of his gear.Â
âHello, sweetheart,â You hear him tiredly coo downwards, hearing Isabella-Marie's delighted chirp as sheâs scooped up, quickly followed by her loud motor engine of a purr.Â
You slide off the couch, dressed in your lounging outfit of soft black sweatpants covered with clichĂ© little green alien heads and a loose gray sweater with a green Apex symbol over the right breast, the collar falling off your shoulders. Crypto looks worse for wear, his eyes are tired and heâs got dirt smudged on his cheek and smells heavy of sweat. Not that Isabella-Marie minds. Nor you.Â
âHey,â You greet him, a smile on your face as his eyes rest on you whilst his cat presses her cheek in insistent strokes against his chin, cradled in his arms.Â
âHey,â He murmurs back to you, adjusting Isabella-Marie in his arms when you reach for him. Despite his tired expression, his cheeks flush when he leans down and to the side for you to cup his cheeks and peck a kiss on his lips in greeting.Â
âYou need a shower. You go wash up and Iâll order dinner.â You tell him, offering your arms out for Isabella-Marie to be transferred to your arms in all her purring glory. âWhat were you thinking tonight?âÂ
âMmh.â Is his only reply, leaning down to rest his cheek on the top of your head in a small nuzzle. Affectionate boy. You laugh a bit, gently nudging him with your hip as Isabella-Marie jumps out of your arms. Giving you time to hook your arms around his waist and shove your hands into his back pockets under his jacket to draw him close and make him blush.Â
âTae Jooooon,â You tease his name, enjoying how he hums low in his throat in response and turning his head to press his lips against the top of your head in a kiss. âWeâve talked about this. You canât go your whole life being a one worded man.âÂ
âMmh.â He responds again, this time with a smile that you feel.Â
You shove at him playfully to shoo him off for the shower, calling out after his back when he goes dutifully towards the bathroom. âFine! But if you donât like what I picked because you didnât give any options, I donât wanna hear you complain!âÂ
Not that he ever did complain. If he was picky this would be a bigger concern. But thankfully you two seemed to be on the same page a lot of times, especially when it came to food.Â
The food you order is Chinese takeout, getting here just in time for when Crypto emerges from his long shower looking a lot more awake and less grouchy. Heâs dressed in his thick framed glasses, his normally slicked back hair nice and slick, some black sweatpants and a loose white crop-top, something you appreciate very greatly to be able to see his fit frame.Â
Like a nerdy jock.Â
You show your enjoyment when you wrap your arms around him from behind when he goes to look at what you got for dinner. Running your nails up his exposed beauty-marked, warm skin on his abdomen to feel him squirm and lean back against you with this flustered huff falling from his lips.Â
Eventually you two make it to the couch where you have dinner and watch one of the K-dramas he liked to indulge in. Sometimes Crypto will pause it to explain a verbal pun that wasnât caught via the subtitles for you, something that always makes you smile and appreciate when he takes the time to pause and explain for you.Â
Though youâre sure he doesnât appreciate when you wait for his most distracted point in time to steal a piece of his food and shove it in your mouth too quickly for him to stop you. Resulting in him poking at you until you squeal from being tickled and he can take a piece off your food in retaliation as you whine at him after.Â
Domestic. Thatâs the best way you could describe yours and Cryptoâs relationship.Â
Home.Â
After dinner is put away and teeth are brushed, you two settle back onto the couch. You curl up on the corner, Crypto following you to cuddle up to your side. His cheek rests against your shoulder, kind of tilting his body into you as you rest your arm behind him, your hand resting on his nape to slide up to pet at the shaved portion of his head. Another hum from him of appreciation, but not verbalizing his like of it.Â
Crypto softly adjusts, but you take it as nothing more than him getting closer to you with the soft sound of the TV in front of you. Youâve got your phone in your lap to play a puzzle game while he watches his show, very much like a cat as he rubs his cheek against your shoulder affectionately.Â
Another squirm, another adjustment is felt after a moment of him pressing his thigh to yours. You take it as him wanting to be closer, only sliding your fingers higher along his scalp to the coarse hair atop his head to lightly scratch at the root like he likes.Â
You donât notice his mouth starting to part, quickly cut off with the ringing of your phone and you groaning aloud. âReally? Right now?â Before youâre answering it with a polite âHello?â that makes Crypto snort at your tone change.Â
He watches as you chat, watching your lips move and hearing you discuss footage and what your boss must have wanted you to edit or someone else. Heâs not really paying attention when youâre still petting his hair. He tries to nudge closer to you, near flush with your side as his hand now rests on your thigh, hoping to catch your attention. You only offer him a quick smile before returning back to your conversation.Â
After five minutes, itâs clear this isnât going to be a short call either.Â
A sigh is heard from Crypto before heâs leaning up to start pecking soft, brushing kisses on your neck. Your head tilts for him, only a light flutter of your lashes as you go âMmhm yeahâ to whoever you are on the phone with. Your nails press lightly at his scalp, letting him know you feel him as his teeth lightly nip at your neck like you like.Â
Youâre damned good at keeping your composure verbally, and now Cryptoâs beginning to wonder if youâve ever done anything on the phone with him without his knowledge. Even the mental image of you spread out and touching yourself while on the phone near making him whine, something he swallows down.Â
You clearly can feel him and see him. You offer a little smile when he peeks up at you, catching your gaze. Emboldened by you sparing even a little attention to him, his hand slides down to your wrist in hopes youâll catch up to what heâs saying. Gently drawing it to his thigh and towards his inner thigh. And yet, you still chat on the phone, but now youâre squeezing and massaging his thigh, your pinkie lightly skimming over his crotch and making Cryptoâs breath hitch against your shoulder.Â
His brows are furrowed, looking ever so frustrated as you now purposefully lengthen the conversation out by bringing back a point from the last game played. Cryptoâs head tips lightly up to you, his eyes pleading with you when your knuckles brush over the bulge in his sweatpants.Â
Your eyes meet his and you quirk a brow with a light smirk on your face. Your eyes say enough for him, youâre sure, judging by how his face flushes and his brows furrow once again. You can see and feel how he squirms, realizing heâs not going to get anything until he uses his words.Â
Heâs stubborn. Heâs always so stubborn. Squirming in his place and getting more frustrated as you keep chatting. Only after three minutes does he finally give in when he realizes this isnât going to work and youâre only going to keep teasing him through his pants.Â
âPlease?â He all but whispers, his mouth felt quivering on your bare shoulder and his hot breath felt in a shaky exhale. âPlease touch me, please?âÂ
You smirk.Â
âOh! Hey, boss, looks like Iâll have to chat with you tomorrow morning about that- uhuh, yeah, yeah, getting,â -You pause there to let out a feigned yawn- âOof, yeah, getting real tired....uhuh, yeah, sounds good! Buh-bye.â Before youâre ending the call and practically pouncing on him.Â
You end up in his lap, straddling him and cupping his cheeks, brushing some of his hair from his face before you lean in to kiss him. Cryptoâs hands find your waist, hovering at first before gripping you when you lick into his mouth after biting his lip to make him gasp.Â
You sit up higher to press him back into the couch, letting your hands slide into his hair for him to tip his head back when you pull at it. His moan is low and vibrates his chest when your tongue licks over his own, feeling his hips jerk lightly up and against your ass needily.Â
âI like when you beg,â You breathe as you part from the kiss, moving the kisses down his jawline and towards his ear where you lightly nip. âDo it again for me?âÂ
âNnh-â Is the only response he manages at first, his fingers shaking as they slide down to grip your hips when you start grinding across his lap. Back and forth to your own rhythm and feeling just how hard he is. Bless whoever made sweatpants.Â
Cryptoâs so cute when you pull back to look at him. Where his head is tipped back and to the side, his lips parted and letting out ragged breaths with each drag of your hips across his lap. How his brows knit together when you grind low and slow downwards to catch his attention and his mouth falls closed to hiss.Â
But. He still wasnât speaking.Â
âBe a good boy and tell me what you want, hm?â You try to encourage him, letting your hands fall down to his exposed abdomen to slide your hands up and under his crop top. Slipping your hands over his chest to thumb at his sensitive nipples, gently pinching and rolling them. Crypto whimpers sharply, his head rolling to the opposite side and looking more stubborn by the second as he strains to come up with words.Â
âI-I-â His voice comes out in a whine, framed by how his lips quiver and his blunt nails cling to your hips when you stop grinding to encourage him further. âI...I want your mouth. On- o-on my cock. Please?â Â
âAwww, baby, when you look that cute? Iâd do just about anything for you.âÂ
You move down his body, kissing your way down until you can slink in between his knees onto the floor. You waste no time in hooking your fingers under his sweatpants, your mouth watering as you follow his happy trail downwards as it gets more exposed. You tug them completely off with his underwear, watching his thick cock bounce with a satisfying bob and a drool of pre-cum from the flushed head peaking from foreskin.Â
Crypto covers his face with his hands to hide his burning red flush that edges down to his chest when you hum at him approvingly. But, judging by how his cock throbs, you already know that as he likes being watched and praised without words.Â
You take your sweet time kissing up his length and down his balls, letting your tongue run over the sensitive skin. Your hand holds the base, stroking downwards to pull back his foreskin, mouthing at the flushed head and letting your tongue slide against the slit in teasing dips until a whimper falls from his lips.Â
You tease him like this for a good enough amount of time before you even take him into your mouth fully. Suckling and bobbing your head, your free hand holding his hip to squeeze to remind him to keep his hips down when he starts trying to hump upwards into your mouth.Â
Anytime you feel how his cock jerks and you hear his breathing quicken; You stop. Pulling your mouth off to kiss at his hips and thighs instead. Squeezing on his legs soothingly and rubbing at his skin when Crypto whines and rolls his hips up with not a single word peeping from his lips. Even if now his arm is thrown over his forehead, able to see how he peeks open one eye to look down at you pleadingly.Â
You smile up at him each time before you take him in again. Suckling, licking, your nails sliding down his thigh until your hand can cup his balls and lightly squeeze. And each time you feel him get close, you pull back. The same bite of pain of your nails on his skin, same edging, the same denial even as pre-cum spills from his cock and it mixes with your drool to connect you with a sliver that makes him near sob when he sees you.Â
You know he liked it messy. Liked seeing the mess you could make.Â
The mess you could make of him.Â
Youâre about to remind him that he needs to use his big boy words if he wants to get anywhere tonight. But, seems Crypto gets the memo when he starts pleading.Â
âLet me cum inside you, please, please, please- please let me cum i-inside you, please, Iâll be good-â His voice is breathy, a high whimper as his hips try to fuck up into the loose grip you have on his shaft. He just looks so pathetic for you right now. Just a teary, drooly, humpy mess.Â
You like how desperate looks on him.Â
âMmmhhh, I dunno, baby,â You let your voice elongate your words, your breath fanning across his sensitive skin and causing his dick to jerk, lightly tapping your lower lip and making you smile. âYou look awfully cute. Canât you hold it a bit longer? Câmon, you can be my good boy and hold it, canât you?âÂ
Each end of your questions is punctuated with a drag of your lips across his cock, letting him feel how you murmur across his reddened skin.Â
Crypto sobs out again, his body jerking in sensitivity as both his hands come back up to hide his red face and teary eyes. His nod allows you to continue, continuing your teasing kisses and licks. Making sure to bite pain into his thighs to cause his mind to either associate the pain with pleasure or to back off his pleasure. Judging by the way he sobs out and twitches each time you scratch or bite him, youâre guessing itâs your prior guess.Â
âPlease, please, please-â Crypto starts to sob when you deny him again, his cock jerking heavily and spilling pre-cum on his lower abdomen. His hands have fallen to grip the couch as best as he can, his teary gaze looking down at you and his lips quivering with his shaky breaths. So cute. âPlease, I-I cannot take it anymore, please, please let me cum in you, I want to cum in you-âÂ
Youâll give him credit. This is the most heâs ever spoken during sex, let alone been so clear in his needs and desires. Something youâll praise him for later. For now, you smile up at him, wiping your mouth off on the back of your hand before standing to wriggle out of your lounge clothing. Â
Cryptoâs quick to help you, hooking fingers in your sweater to help you out of it. Itâs fit with your laughter as you nearly fall on him, lots of giggling when his mouth presses a kiss to your abdomen when you get halfway stuck through your sweater and pants. âTae Joon-â You laugh out his name when you feel him smile against your abdomen, âCâmon, lil help here?âÂ
Eventually you escape your clothing prison, able to set the mood again when your straddle his lap. Youâre plenty wet enough, but you still take the time to tease him a bit more by reaching down to stretch yourself while hovering over his cock. You feel flustered as he watches you, sitting under you and looking up at you with such love in his eyes while you make soft sounds yourself.Â
It takes a few tries to line up correctly, but soon youâre bouncing your hips on him with your fingers in his hair and your mouth on his neck. He always sounds so pretty the way he cries out, clinging to your hips at first before his arms wind around you to hug you to his trembling frame. You pepper kisses all over his face, cupping his cheeks adoringly as you rest your foreheads together.Â
He cums rather quickly, clinging so hard to you as his hips frantically hump up against you. He ends up accidentally holding you still so he can thrust up into you, resulting in you clinging to him in turn with your lips parted and murmuring praise as he fucks you through his orgasm. Heâs swearing in his mother tongue, something you can only catch bits and pieces of.Â
When Cryptoâs done cumming, one of his hands quickly goes down to between both your bodies to rub at your clit as you hump against his cock still lodged inside you. He finds your lips to capture when you whimper out his name when you begin to cum, your nails biting into his shoulders as he rubs you through it.Â
By the time youâre both satisfied, you slump against his frame, burying your face into his neck as your sweaty bodies press together on the couch, still connected.Â
When both of your breathing settles, he presses a kiss to the top of your head, nuzzling himself there as his hands slide up and down your sides. You smile softly, adjusting your hips a bit and laughing a bit when he grunts in this little oversensitive way.Â
When you lift your head to meet his gaze, you smile a bit brighter, gently bumping your noses together. âHey,âÂ
âHey,â He murmurs back just as fondly.Â
âYou need a shower.â Â
He smiles when he realizes youâre replaying your interaction from earlier that day, reaching up to brush your frazzled hair from your face. âMmh.âÂ
âYou need a shower with me?âÂ
âMmh.â He repeats, moving to rest his cheek atop your head as you laugh at him when you feel his chest shake with a quiet laugh in turn.Â
âAlright fine. Guess Iâll be getting a shower first and youâll be left out here with your dick out and cold-âÂ
That gets him. Pushing you off him and to the couch with a yelp from you as you fall gracelessly on your side and gasp as he takes off towards the shower and you quickly following after him with a playful swat to his ass when you catch up.Â
Yeah. You would say your guysâ relationship was domestic.Â

Book One: Gold (Prompto x Reader) Chapter V
Once back in Lestallum, the group reported to Talcott and Jared about their finds. As they were about to leave the Leville, Noctis experiences another headache. In order to dissect the source of his headaches, they decided to take a closer look at the Disc of Cauthess from the outlook. When they arrived, they ran into two familiar faces.
"What a coincidence," the auburn-haired man smiled eerily at the group.
Gladio crosses his arms. "I'm not so sure it is."
The man strolled up to them, leaving his spiky-haired companion behind. He came to a stop in front of (Y/n). "Oh, my. You must be the lovely maiden my dear companion spoke of. A pleasure to meet your acquaintance, my dear." He bowed politely before trying to reach out and grab her hand. However, Prompto reached out and pulled the girl away from him before the man could touch her.
"You know this guy?" The spirit whispered to the blonde.
"We kinda had a run-in with him in Galdin Quay," Prompto answered.
The auburn-haired man was unfazed by the marksman's reaction and decided to back away, changing the subject in the process. "Aren't nursery rhymes curious things? Like this one: "From the deep, the Archaean calls... Yet on deaf ears, the gods' tongue falls, The King made to kneel, in pain, he crawls.""
Prompto, who now stood in front of (Y/n), asked, "So how do we keep him on his feet?"
"You need only heed the call. Visit the Archaean and hear his plea." He spun around to face them, his smile never wavering. "We can take you."
Prompto looked around at his friends. "We in?"
Noctis was unsure of the men and didn't trust either of them. "I don't know."
"We take a ride..." The sharpshooter began.
"...but watch our backs," Gladio finished.
"Fair enough," Ignis said.
Noctis agreed with his friends. "Let's do it."
(Y/n) hadn't been paying attention to their conversation. Her golden eyes were focused on the familiar spiky-haired man who she had met yesterday. She never got his name, but there's no way she could forget his appearance. She was torn from her thoughts when Prompto shook her shoulder. Looking away from the emerald-eyed man, she stared into the blonde's cerulean eyes. "Huh?"
"You okay?" Prompto asked. He glanced at the man who had yet to speak, then back at the girl. "Isn't that the guy from yesterday?"
"It is..." She was even more suspicious of him than the auburn-haired man. She didn't trust either of them, but respected the boys' decision to allow them to be their escort for a short time.
The auburn-haired man smiles and begins walking toward the car park with his companion by his side. "I'm not one to stand on ceremony, but such an occasion calls for an introduction. Please, call me "Ardyn." And this..." He gestures to the man beside him. "Is Callyx. He's a dear old friend of mine. Come with us to the car park. That's where I left my automobile. She's a dear old thing. Pales next to your Regalia, but she's never let me down. So we take two vehicles-a convoy of sorts. Shall we?"
When arriving at Ardyn's car, the auburn-haired man turned to face the group. "All set?"
"Let's get this over with," Noctis sighed.
"Allow me to do the honor of assigning your driver... I choose you!" Ardyn pointed at the raven-haired boy.
"Fine by me."
"I do have one final request," Callyx spoke up with his smooth voice. His emerald eyes focused on (Y/n). "Your car will be cramped with five people. The lady should ride with us."
"No way!" Prompto shouted. "(Y/n)'s staying with us."
"Yeah. We're not gonna let her go with you two," Noctis replied.
"I only wish to speak with her on our drive over to the Disc." Callyx lifted his t-shirt up a little ways to reveal the jade gemstone embedded in his abdomen.
The spirit gasped at the sight. "You're a guardian, too?"
He nodded. "Yeah."
"But your eyes..."
He smirked. "Contacts."
"Oh..."
He took a step closer to her, alerting the royal retinue. Prompto went to pull the girl back when Noctis moved to stand between the two spirits. Callyx noticed how tense the four boys were and raised his hands in surrender. "I'm not going to hurt her. There's something important I have to discuss with her."
"Then do it here and now," Gladio said with a faint growl.
(Y/n) broke free from Prompto's hold and stepped around Noctis to stand directly in front of Callyx. "What's so important that they can't hear it but your friend can?"
"Because I trust him and not your friends. If you don't ride with us, you'll never learn the truth about what the empire is planning."
Her mouth opened and closed. She wanted to say something, but she couldn't think of anything. If the information is important and the only cost was riding in their car, she would do it. "Fine. I'll ride with you."
"What?" Prompto gasped.
She casted a reassuring smile towards the blonde. "I'll be fine, Prom. If we can learn what the empire is doing, I'll ride with them."
"Are you certain of your decision, (Y/n)?" Ignis asked.
"Yes."
"B-But..." Prompto began.
Ardyn, however, interrupted him. "You drive your car, I drive mine, and the maiden comes with Callyx and I. With that decided, let us be off."
Prompto stared in shock, watching (Y/n) climb into the backseat of the red car alongside Callyx. He bit his tongue, deciding to hold himself back after seeing her resolve. Reluctantly, he got into the Regalia with his friends. Like a child, he pouted as he watched the red car leave the parking lot.
Outside of Lestallum, the two automobiles sat side by side. Ardyn glanced toward the boys inside the Regalia. "Just to be clear, this isn't a race, it is a chase. You're not to pass me. Lose sight of me, and you'll lose your way. And no tailgating. An accident would spoil the trip."
Noctis, who was behind the wheel, groaned. "All right, all right. Let's hit the road already."
"As you wish. Drive safely, now."
(Y/n) casted Prompto one last smile before they took off. After being a few minutes on the road, she looked over at her fellow spirit. "So, Callyx, what did you wanna tell me?"
The emerald-eyed man glanced at Ardyn for a split second before sighing. "How familiar are you with the conduit?"
"The first time I heard about it was from Noctis. Besides that, I know nothing about it."
"Well then, I guess an explanation is in order." Callyx combed a hand through his spiky black hair. "Centuries ago, there used to be seven Astrals. But all that changed when the seventh god disappeared. No one knows why and most of Eos has forgotten about him. The mighty Brahma, the creator of the universe, vanished without a trace. However, the conduit is rumored to be the only person who can hear and speak to Brahma. They are also the person the Astral has chosen to embody his power and act as his vessel in order to aid the True King."
"And what does this have to do with the empire?" (Y/n) inquired.
"The only beings possible of being the conduit are spirits. Humans are frail and unable to embody the power of an Astral. Our people are being targeted by the empire. They're slaughtering guardians left and right to prevent Brahma's return. I'm only telling you this because you need to know how much danger you are in. If you want to protect yourself, you need to find a safe place to hide. Leave those men and find a place to-"
"Oh, I don't think so," (Y/n) interrupted him. "Have you forgotten? Guardians are meant to protect those that gave them life. There's no way I'm going to leave Prompto to save my own skin. I care too much about him to leave him behind."
"You wouldn't be the first spirit to latch on to a human..." Callyx crossed his legs. "Then again, by the look on that boy's face, you mean a lot to him. Guess I'm kind of jealous."
"Is that all you wanted to tell me?" She sighed.
"Yeah..."
The conversation died. (Y/n) rested her arm on the door, cupping her chin with her palm. She glanced out at the passing scenery, admiring it to distract her from the two men in the car with her. She prayed to the Astrals this road trip would end soon.
A little ways behind the red vehicle was the Regalia. Noctis kept a good distance between them and Ardyn's car to prevent an accident. While the prince, Gladio, and Ignis were chatting away about the two mysterious men, Prompto stared at the car in front of them. His fingers tapped against his knee repeatedly, his leg shaking up and down. His right arm rested on top of the car door with his hand clenched in a fist and resting against his cheek.
When Gladio noticed the blonde's lengthy silence, he glanced at him. Seeing the sharpshooter's gaze locked on the car in front of them, he chuckled. "You that worried, blondie?"
"Of course I am!" Prompto yelled. "(Y/n)'s in a car with two weirdos! Not to mention, one of those weirdos tried to hit on her yesterday!"
"You're freaking out over nothing."
"Wha-no!"
"By the way (Y/n) carried herself in the grotto, I do believe she is quite capable of handling anything or anyone who dares cross her path," Ignis stated.
"I know she's strong, but that doesn't stop me from worrying about her..." Prompto muttered. He managed to look away from the car they were following and pulled out his camera. He scrolled through the various pictures he's taken of (Y/n) so far, admiring her beauty from every angle.
After spending 15 minutes scrolling through pictures, Prompto lifted his head and realized they were pulling over. He glanced around in confusion as they pulled into the Cauthess Coernix Station.
Noctis pulled the Regalia up beside Ardyn's car just as the man got out and asked, "What say we call it a day here?"
""What say" we continue on to Cauthess?" Gladio retorted as he and the other boys climbed out of the Regalia.
"The Archaean's not going anywhere."
"Neither are we, under your stewardship," Ignis replied.
"So we make camp...with Ardyn," Prompto groaned.
"Hell no," Noctis quipped.
"Might as well get the tent up," Gladio said.
Oh, I'm afraid Callyx and I have never really been ones for the outdoors. We shall foot the bill, so let us stay at the caravan over yonder," Ardyn stated.
(Y/n) turned her head towards the male spirit standing beside her. "You're a hunter. Don't you camp out a lot?"
"Yeah, but it doesn't mean I enjoy it," Callyx explained.
"That's... Okay, yeah. Good point."
"Will all of us even fit in the caravan?" Noctis asked.
"Only one way to find out," Ardyn smirked before walking off with his friend.
Once Ardyn and Callyx were gone, (Y/n) sauntered over to the boys. She placed a hand on her hip with a frown. "Can we talk somewhere in private?"
"Oh, no," Prompto gasped. He rushed over to the (h/c)-haired girl and grabbed her arms, shaking her back and forth. "What did they do to you?! Tell me, (Y/n)!"
"H-Hey, take it easy, Prom. They didn't do anything to me." She grabbed his arms to stop him from shaking her. "I just wanted to share with you all what Callyx had to say."
"Then shall we make for the caravan?" Ignis suggested.
"That'd be good."
They entered the caravan. Noctis and Prompto sat on the small wooden bench while Gladio and Ignis decided to stand. (Y/n) closed the door behind them and leaned against it. Wishing not to beat around the bush, she jumped straight to the point. "The empire's hunting down spirits and killing them."
"What?" Ignis gaped in shock.
"What do they hope to gain from that?" Gladio inquired.
"This conduit you heard about from the marshal... It can only be a guardian. Whoever this conduit is has the ability to hear and speak to the forgotten Astral and act as his vessel," she said. "By killing spirits, the empire hopes to stop Brahma from returning."
"Hold up," Noctis spoke up. "There's another Astral?"
"Brahma, the creator of the universe. He's known as the forgotten Astral. Not many know about him, but apparently the empire does."
"Can we really trust this information?" Gladio questioned.
"I...I'm not sure," she confessed. "I don't trust Callyx, but he genuinely looked worried about it when he spoke to me."
"If he is telling the truth, does that mean...?" Prompto gazed at the girl, worried for her safety. "Does that mean the empire will try to kill you?"
"Well..."
Noctis stood up. "Let them come. They're already crawling up our asses anyway."
"What more could they possibly do?" Ignis asked.
"We'll deal with any imperial bastards that cross our path just like we always do," Gladio claimed.
"Yeah!" Prompto cheered. "All of us are a team."
"Team?" (Y/n) parroted.
"Unless you wish not to be," Ignis stated.
"No, it's just..." She rubbed a hand up and down her arm. "I never expected you three to accept me so easily."
"We were all skeptical at first, but you proved yourself in the cave. I thought our whole groove would've been messed up with you around, but you proved me wrong." Gladio patted her on the shoulder. "You fit right in, short stuff."
"Sh-Short stuff...?" She glanced around at the boys before examining her appearance. "Am I really that short?"
"Well... Yeah," Prompto answered. "B-But that's okay!"
She looked away, unamused. "Ugh..."
(Y/n) excused herself and left the caravan. She wandered towards the rear of the convenience store before setting her gaze on the Celestial Crescent. She tilted her head in curiosity when hearing a faint mumbling.
...ui...
She blinked in shock when she could make out a portion of what the voice was saying. "I'm going crazy..."
"What're you talking about?"
(Y/n) tore her gaze away from the darkening sky and looked at Callyx, deciding to lie. "It's nothing, really. I thought the colors of the Celestial Crescent were changing for a second, but my mind was playing tricks on me." She didn't trust him even after he shared information about the empire.
Callyx took a quick glance at the sky before looking at the (h/c)-haired girl, his hands hidden behind his back. "Do you ever hear voices whenever you gaze upon the Celestial Crescent?"
"If you mean the voices in my head, then yes."
Callyx chortled. "That's not what I meant."
She put on a friendly façade. "I know. I'm just messing with you. To answer your question-no, I don't hear voices. Am I supposed to?"
He shook his head. "Not unless you're the conduit. Brahma's consciousness resides within those cluster of stars. He searches for the perfect vessel to regain his physical body, only speaking to the spirit he deems worthy."
"Do we have any idea what'll happen to the conduit once Brahma takes control of their body?"
"Who knows? Maybe they become an empty shell, maybe there are no side effects whatsoever." Callyx suddenly outstretched one of his hands to touch her shoulder, but he stopped mid-way when a familiar bubbly blonde came bounding over calling the girl's name. "Guess I'll give you two some time alone."
Prompto eyed Callyx suspiciously as he walked past him. When he was out of sight, he walked up to (Y/n). "I was kinda getting worried when you didn't come back. Everything okay, (Y/n)?"
"Mhmm," she hummed with a smile. "Everything's peachy."
"I thought you might've been worried about this whole conduit thing. I mean, it is kinda scary the empire is going around and just killing spirits. Are you sure you're doing okay?"
"Really, I'm fine. No need to worry, Prom."
Suddenly, Prompto wound his arms around her and hugged her tightly. He pressed his cheek against her (h/c) hair, frowning sorrowfully. "Y'know, you might be a better liar than me, but I can tell when you're really worried about something, (Y/n). You scrunch up your nose and furrow your brows. I find it kinda...cute."
She sighed, burying her face into his chest. She wound her arms around his torso and mumbled, "I am scared. Scared for my people, scared for me. There aren't many of us, which makes it even more frightening. I'm also scared I'm putting you and the others in even more danger."
Prompto hugged her smaller frame as tight as he could without hurting her. "Hey, don't worry 'bout us. We can handle ourselves. There's no way the empire could defeat us! And..." He nuzzled his nose in her hair, inhaling her gentle scent. "I-We won't let anything happen to you. I know you're supposed to be the one protecting me, but I wanna protect you too. If you were to vanish, I...I wouldn't know what to do."
A warm, gentle smile blossomed on the spirit's face. "I'll never disappear, Prom. Whenever you need me, I'll be there. Even when you don't need me, I'll be by your side. You're stuck with me forever."
Prompto smiled widely. "I wouldn't have it any other way." He fell silent for a moment before clearing his throat, arms remaining tightly wound around (Y/n). "Hey, u-um... After we're done with this Disc business, there's something really important I wanna tell you."
"You can't tell me now?" She inquired.
"Of course not! It's, uh...really important, but I still need a day to...come up with the right words. Think you can wait?"
"Do I really have any other choice?"
"Nope."

combat, iâm ready for combat
long live :: seven of wands :: combat, iâm ready for combat
It's suddenly become very important that Hannah knows what her child faces when she jumps out of a shuttle.
âZaeed suggested we do an Armax match,â Hannah says, over coffee.
âThat's,â Olivia blinks and looks up, starting to approach morning coherency. âThat's actually a really good idea.â
âLiv.â She'd been hoping Olivia would help her talk Zaeed out of it. While part of her knows that running through at least one match is the good and sensible thing to do, the rest of her wants to stick her head in the sand and pretend that reapers are just some nightmare that will fade away when she wakes up. They aren't, but that doesn't stop her from hoping.
Olivia swallows a mouthful of coffee and then covers a yawn. âIt's a good idea. It'll help you feel comfortable shooting at things that are moving. Hopefully,â she starts a new sentence before Hannah can jump in, âhopefully you'll never have to. But,â she pauses, âIâd feel a little better, I know Zaeed would, and I think you would too, if the first time you had to hit a moving target was not the first time you'd tried.â
Hannah sighs. Zaeed would cancel if she really wanted and Olivia wonât push it if she asks her not to. But much as she doesn't want to admit it â they have a point. She can hit a stationary and labeled target pretty reliably, but in reality that isn't going to do her a damn bit of good.
***
Olivia uses her pass to book the Arena after hours one night. She's been using it for practice with her team, trying new tactics, weapons, and squad configuration. Armax is more than happy to let her have it after the incident with their scoring system.
Hannah watches in fascination as Olivia straps on her armor. She's seen her daughter in full battle gear before, but never watched the process. Boots, greaves, helmet, gauntlets, shoulders â all black with bright purple accents. Garrus helps Olivia with the shoulder seals of her chest piece and then she's in. Olivia shakes out her arms and bounces around a bit, making sure everything's properly in place.
She actually looks excited.
They're fighting holographic enemies. There's no audience, nothing real at stake. And yet Hannah's scared out of her mind. And her daughter is grinning.
Olivia cracks her neck and turns around. Her grin immediately vanishes â Hannah wonders just what expression was on her face to cause Olivia make an abrupt left turn like that â and she gives her a quiet little comforting smile instead. âI promise. No one's out there. They're not recording this. We're playing on bronze. We've,â she gestures to herself, Garrus, and Zaeed, âgot you covered, Mom.â
That Olivia considers this playing is something Hannah thinks she ought to have examined by a professional. âRemind me why we're doing this?â
âBecause actual reapers don't stand still in a shooting range with a target on their foreheads.â Zaeed comes up behind Hannah and kisses her cheek. Hannah leans into him a little.
âBe nice if they did,â Olivia says, rotating her shoulder. She got caught by a charging brute last week and she's still a little sore. âHow's the armor feel?â
Hannah twists her torso. She's borrowing a set from Liara; Armax requires armor for all combatants and Olivia looked at her like she was nuts when she mentioned renting some from the arena. It fits a bit awkwardly â too tight in the shoulders, too loose in the chest â but it's so much lighter than the suit Ashley offered. She can actually move in this one without feeling like the local gravity quadrupled. âStrange.â
âYou get used to it,â Olivia says and checks the capacity on her Black Widow.
Hannah's not sure she wants to get used to armor, but doesn't say so.
âReady?â Zaeed asks.
Hannah blinks.
âYou don't actually have to do this, Mom,â Olivia says quietly, taking a step closer so the two men know to keep their noses out of it. âSay the word. We'll cancel the whole thing and go get dinner.â
Hannah shakes her head and takes a sharp breath. âNo. Let's do this.â
âYou sure?â Olivia puts one gloved hand onto her mother's arm.
Nodding, Hannah settles her hand over Olivia's. âYeah.â
âAlright,â Olivia gives her arm a little squeeze she can't feel through the armor and lets go. She stands next to Zaeed and Garrus at the elevator doors. âWe're gonna be on Giant, which is a pretty big map. So if all else fails â run the other way.â
âThat's your last piece of advice?â Hannah steps up onto the elevator platform with the others. The elevator rises into the arena.
Olivia shrugs and the map starts to load around them. âWorks every time. Good hunting.â She taps each of the guys on the shoulder.
âGood hunting,â Garrus and Zaeed echo, giving Olivia and each other the same pat. They take off to set up on opposite sides of the map.
Hannah turns and again finds her daughter grinning beside her as the drone counts down to the beginning of wave one. âAm I going to hate this?â
âProbably,â Olivia says, and motions for Hannah to crouch down behind a crate. âShoot at the stuff that shoots at you, run when we tell you, and it'll all be over in less than twenty minutes.â
Hannah takes a deep breath as cannibals start to spawn.
***
Three matches in and she gets the hang of it. It even starts being a little fun. The others rack up medals and points and headshots, but Hannah gets a little less scared, a little more willing to run out of cover, as they keep going.
âThat doesn't count,â Garrus says as he and Olivia stand beside a smoking ravager corpse.
âWhy not?â
âIt doesn't have a head. You can't get a headshot on something that doesn't have a head.â
âZaeed,â Olivia says into their comms, âwe need a judgment call here. Oh,â she gently pulls Hannah back, away from the corpse. âDon't stand in ravager blood.â There's a look in her eyes that tells Hannah she tried that once and it ended badly.
âDid the arena record it as a headshot?â
Olivia pulls up the kill feed on her omnitool as the next wave starts to spawn. âNo.â
âThen it doesn't count.â
âI got it right in the center circle thing!â
Hannah starts to fidget. There are enemies â on the other end of the map, but enemies heading their way â and these three are just standing around in the open arguing the validity of a headshot. She ducks behind a container.
âDoesn't count,â he repeats.
âOh, stop,â Olivia scolds. She turns around and shoves her omniblade into the husk that had been hitting her. âFine, the ravager shot doesn't count.â
As the others seem unconcerned by the banshee or the brutes headed their way, Hannah begins to realize just how easy they've been taking it. This â lazy enemies with grenades that hardly touch her shields, one banshee at a time â is not their reality.
It's not her daughter's reality, which stirs up something low and scared at the base of her spine.
âMake it harder,â she says when the match is over.
âYou sure?â Zaeed asks.
Hannah nods. âYeah.â
Silently, Olivia bumps it to silver.
A match later, Hannah has to watch from her visor's spectator mode as Olivia solos the back half of wave ten. A lot of things went sideways: Zaeed got slammed into the floor by a brute, Garrus got picked up by a banshee, and she got eaten by a cannibal before she had a chance to revive herself.
(It was for the better. She'd be useless to Liv anyway, probably a liability. They got all the devices activated, at least.)
The arena camera cuts to a front angle of Olivia, who doesn't look scared or even challenged while she works on the two banshees. Mostly she looks bored. Bored and a little hungry.
Olivia takes cover around a door and reloads her Black Widow. With a centering breath, she pops around the corner. In two final shots, both banshees scream and fall. She grins, blows imaginary smoke off the end of her rifle, and winks at Garrus as he stands up and dusts himself off.
This still isn't Olivia's reality.
Hannah swallows, hard.
She pauses behind the others as they get off the elevator after the match. âWhat does it look like when you're actually fighting?â
Olivia freezes and slowly turns around. âWhat do you mean?â
âWhen you're out there, fighting. What's it like?â
There's a look that passes between Olivia and Zaeed. It's a heavy look, a protective look, a we agreed not to tell her about this look, and it nearly makes Hannah cry.
âTell me,â she insists.
âIt's usually like gold. Sometimes the single-enemy platinum waves,â Olivia says softly. Her eyes briefly flick sideways â she's lying, understating reality to make her mother feel better.
âCan we,â Hannah's throat is suddenly dry and it has nothing to do with the exercise. She swallows. âCan we try that?â
It's suddenly become very important that Hannah knows what her child faces when she jumps out of a shuttle.
A look passes between all three of them this time, but it's less heavy, more calculating. Can we carry her through this?
Hannah's dead weight and she knows it, but as the seconds tick past, this becomes more and more something that she has to do. She needs to know that she can stand in front of the same things Olivia can. She runs a fucking bakery, but there's no way in hell she's okay with her kid being out there, trying to save a galaxy that seems hell bent on not being saved, when she can't even face Olivia's daily life when it's presented to her in a holographic combat simulator.
âI soloed Platinum a couple times,â Olivia says, breaking the brief silence.
Hannah hears the translation: we'll be fine. The two men shrug and nod in agreement.
âWe can do gold, but in a couple days. I think we're done for the night.â
Without another match in front of her, Hannah realizes how exhausted she is. Olivia, Garrus, and Zaeed look like they could go a few more rounds, but they're career soldiers. She works out regularly, but she's not nearly in the shape they are. She nods as she turns her back to Zaeed so he can help her unseal her armor. âOkay.â
Hannah doesn't see the look on Olivia's face.
The one that begs him, Please talk her out of this, I don't want her to know.
#hey it turns out i've been working on this one for seven years#so it feels good to hit post finally#and yes there is absolutely more of it in a later card#s:long live#s:2021#livfic#s:words

[Hermione]
The walk back to the hotel begins in silence, and at first, Hermione doesn't mind because her head is still reeling from their conversation with Dave. She and Ron are married â legitimately married â and it looks like, at least for now, it's going to stay that way. She glances sideways at him to see that he's wearing a focused and calm expression. She can't read it at all. What the hell is he thinking?
A better question is, what are they going to do? Will they tell people, or just keep it quiet? Will they at least talk about it?
Ron must notice her eyes boring into the side of his face, because he meets her gaze. It's only for a fraction of a second, because Hermione instinctively breaks contact. Ron snorts in response.
"What?" she asks.
She can sense him shrugging next to her and nearly rolls her eyes, but doesn't. He might interpret it as antagonization, and she is too exhausted to fight.
Shoulder to shoulder, they continue to trudge through the smothering heat, through dusty alleys and run-down buildings, searching for the glamorous side of the city again.
Hermione keeps her eyes forward, hoping to appear nonchalant, but for some reason, she's finding it quite difficult to ignore Ron the way she wants to. Instead, she's hyper-aware of his every action. She can hear his breath, which is more labored than usual, probably a result of the weather. She still feels his shrug and scoff, and for some reason, it really annoys her. She can sense him watching her from the corner of his eye, which leaves her prickling with insecurities. She wants to say something defensive, or at the very least, call him out on his attitude, but she can't. It's almost as if she cares what he thinks of her. Or worse, she wants him to like her.
"Are you ok?"
She startles at his question, but not because she doesn't expect him to speak up. She definitely anticipates it because she's both aware of his every move, and distracted by the potential meaning behind each one, even though there's no meaning behind anything he says or does, because they're not really married, and she doesn't really like him. It's none of that.
The question startles her because it's laced with compassion she doesn't expect, and she can't help but answer honestly.
"I don't know."
Ron sighs, and she imagines him wrapping a comforting arm around her shoulders. She doesn't know why and wills herself not to care.
Hermione opens her mouth to speak again, but a voice interrupts before she can.
"Hey! Will you two take a photo of us?" It's a petite brunette woman with hopeful eyes who asks. She's clutching the arm of a stocky, bearded man with thick glasses and a Hawaiian shirt. Like Ron and Hermione, they are clearly not from Las Vegas either.
"Uh, sure!" says Ron, reaching for her camera.
"Thanks!"
It's now that Hermione realizes they're on a bridge overlooking the city, and it's quite beautiful. The sun is lowering in the sky, and its rays reflect off the skyscraper windows like disco balls. She can faintly see elements of The Strip â roller coasters, the Eiffel Tower replica, fountains and ferris wheels. Even among the surrounding land â a barren and inhospitable desert â the city's bursting with life. It's unnatural, yet strangely hopeful, a true testament to both human ambition and hard-headedness.
Building a thriving city in a resource vacuum shows the same 'challenge accepted!' attitude that leads people into marriages when over fifty percent of them end in divorce. Hermione would laugh it off if that realization didn't hit a sore spot. Like a mirror to her psyche, it describes her perfectly â tell Hermione Granger that she can't do something, she'll set out to prove otherwise, even if it doesn't make sense. Just because she's brimming with ambition doesn't mean she knows where to spend it. She glances at Ron, frustrated by his blank, unreadable expression as he positions the camera.
She watches on as the couple poses for a few pictures. Their arms wrap around one another, they share a few quick kisses, and their skin glows from both heat and happiness. The bustling urban background of Las Vegas perfectly juxtaposes the effortless calm shared between the two. Hermione smiles as Ron crouches to snap a few photos from different angles.
When Ron hands them back their camera, they scroll through a few of the photos and smile. "These are great! We just got married yesterday and didn't have any photos!"
"Oh, congratulations!" says Hermione.
"So did we!" says Ron, slipping an arm around Hermione's shoulders. "Yesterday, actually!"
Perplexed, Hermione glares at Ron, and he smiles back endearingly. I guess we're telling people.
Their exchange goes unnoticed by the friendly brunette, who's beaming and clapping excitedly. "Wonderful, let us take a photo of you!"
"It's really okayâ" starts Hermione.
"Actually," interrupts Ron. "We'd love that!"
"Great!"
Ron hands the woman his phone, and before Hermione can process it all, he's tugging her across the pavement to pose for a photograph. Ron tightens his embrace, and she instinctively wraps her arms around his torso. Her head fits perfectly into the crook of his neck.
A smile spreads on her face, and she's tempted to glance up to see if Ron's grin looks as natural as hers feels. It's like they've done this a thousand times â posed for pictures, smiled together, embraced. It feels comfortable, and she wonders if it all felt that way last night. Of course, Hermione still doesn't know exactly what they did last night, at least beyond getting married, but this feels good.
His arm locked confidently around her feels secure and established. His stubble brushing against her skin sends pins and needles all the way to her toes. The smell of his cologne brings a powerful jolt of nostalgia. It's proof that they've been this close before, and Hermione suddenly wishes she never scrubbed his scent from her body earlier this morning. It feels like any important links to her memory disappeared down the drain with it, and who knows if she'll ever be able to get them back. It's not like she'll ever be covered in his cologne again, and she can't stand this close to him forever, breathing him in and trying to remember. He might find it odd.
"C'mon, give her a kiss!" The man's voice hits Hermione in the pit of her stomach. He has no idea what he's asking of them.
Her heart sinks when Ron stiffens next to her. How are they going to get out of this? She turns to him to discover his face has deepened to a crimson shade, and it's definitely not just from the sun this time.
"Well, you heard the man," he whispers. His jaw clenches with either nerves or dread. She doesn't know which one it is and reminds herself that she shouldn't even care. Ron's eyes move to her lips, and Hermione's heartbeat intensifies to the point where he can probably hear it. She's never been so curious about what her mouth looks like up close, and she wishes she had put on a spot of makeup or at the very least, taken a breath mint. She normally prides herself on her preparedness, but it never crossed her mind to prepare for this.
Before she can react, the space between them closes. If there was more time for anxiety, she'd worry that they'd fumble this and reveal their charade. She wouldn't know where to put her hands on his body, or how far to lift up onto her toes to meet his lips precisely. She'd worry she'd open her mouth too little and appear stiff or open it too much and seem overly eager. They might bump noses, knock teeth, or misread each other's signals about when to stop, demonstrating their utter lack of communication skills and compatibility.
Those anxieties don't have time to take root. They vanish completely when he closes the gap between them and draws her into a kiss. She can't worry about what her mouth looks like because she's overwhelmed by the confident yet gentle way he manipulates her lips. Any fears about her breath disappear when she tastes him, because his taste is just so Ron; it's exactly what she would expect if she allowed herself to entertain such preposterous daydreams. There's no need to think about where to place her hands because they automatically slide around his neck. Her fingers settle at his hairline where she can feel the muscles of his jaw driving their kiss, and his arm wraps around her lower back, pulling her body firmly against his.
In Hermione's experience, it takes time to learn the nuances of kissing someone. Finding a rhythm should require practice, so Hermione can't explain how they predict each other's movements and meet effortlessly in the middle, no trial, no error. When Ron's tongue drifts teasingly across her lower lip, she responds with an invitation that's neither hesitant nor over-eager; it just is. There is no bumping of noses and no clashing of teeth, and she's unconcerned with detecting any signal to stop because he definitely hasn't given one yet.
For a moment, she forgets they're in public. He seems to forget too, because his hand slides even lower on her body and rests on the curvature of her bum. His fingers grip her dress, unintentionally hiking it up a little further than her normal conservatism would permit. The sudden breeze between her legs results in a soft moan, and she playfully captures his lower lip between her teeth. He hums appreciatively, the sound vibrating right into her fingers that still rest on his neck, and his lips curve into a flirtatious smirk against her mouth. She presses her body more firmly against him, and his grip on her dress tightens in encouragement. He shifts his hips ever so slightly, but the effect is immediate, as she can now feel the extent of his affection for her pressing against her through his khaki shorts. He shamelessly pins her body to his growing erection, making no effort to hide it from her.
His mouth softens against hers, which evolves their kiss to a new dynamic, one that's slower, more sensual, and no longer about pleasure, but intimacy and communication. There's nothing vague in its message for Hermione to overanalyze, no confusing signals to misread and later weaponize. It's just clear and simple.
Much too soon, someone clears their throat, and Ron and Hermione break away from one another. Her dress falls back into place when he removes his hands. She flexes her fingers a couple of times, resenting the air against her palms. It feels so empty when compared to the luxurious feel of his soft hair, stubble, and dancing muscles in his neck.
"I think I got a few good shots," says the brunette awkwardly, and Ron swiftly moves toward her to retrieve his phone. The smell of his cologne dissipates, and its absence is immediately noticeable. As if she left home without her wallet, it feels like she's missing something essential.
"Erm, thanks," stumbles Ron. He sounds embarrassed, and the knot in Hermione's stomach tightens. The confidence she felt from their kiss is dissipating rapidly, and she imagines it whisking down the shower drain with his cologne.
"Well, congratulations again!" The couple smiles politely and turns away, whispering to one another. They send a curious glance back their way before hustling off in the other direction.
Hermione's mortified. They must have put on quite a show. Ron keeps his eye-line on the ground as he approaches her, and shoves his hands in his pockets. "So, I guess we should head back," he says.
"I guess we should."
They turn and begin walking in silence for the second time. This time, Hermione is stiff and unsure of herself. Questions now replace what were just answers in Hermione's mind. She was so confident that the kiss was real, was it not? It really felt like clear communication, but now she's back to overanalyzing and second-guessing. She wants an explanation, preferably in the form of words this time. Even better if the words would be as clear as that kiss.
"Why did you tell them we're married?" She asks the question mostly to break the awkward silence, half expecting him not to answer.
Ron surprises her by engaging immediately. "Because we are."
"I'm sorry they made us kiss," she says, stiffening in anticipation of his response.
She regrets asking when he doesn't answer right away. They keep walking together in awkward silence instead, and every now and then, Hermione catches a whiff of his cologne. It's a comforting smell, although it has no right to be, especially not anymore. Now, it just represents something unattainable, which makes her want it more.
Hermione is usually in good control of her thoughts, but not today. A breeze brushes past them, fluttering her dress, and she can almost feel Ron's hand gripping the fabric, sliding it up. She tries to prevent it, but her mind latches onto the memory, turning it into another preposterous daydream.
In this daydream, his mouth moves against hers in a steady rhythm, curving into that taunting smirk, and he moans hungrily when she tugs his lips between her teeth. His fingers thread through her hair â of course he's a hair-puller â and he turns her back against the bridge so he can press his hardness into her leg.
"Are you?"
She almost misses his question entirely because mentally, she's still back on that bridge, enjoying the sensation of one of his hands running up the front of her body and sliding over her breast. He kneads her through the fabric, and she instinctively wraps a leg around his hip to lock him in place.
"Sorry, what?" she asks. "Am I what?"
Ron laughs. "Are you sorry?"
He sends her a sideways glance, and she tries to keep her expression neutral. It's difficult because back on that bridge, his hand moves from her breast to her bum and slips under the hem of her skirt. He lets out a growl of pleasure when his fingers grip her arse and another when they caress the lace of her knickers, saturated from her anticipation.
She shakes the image from her head. "Am I sorry about what?"
"You're on another planet, aren't you?" he says, laughing.
Just that bloody bridge.
For the second time during their walk, she can feel him rolling his eyes at her, but it's overpowered by the sensation of his fingers sliding under the fabric of her knickers. At first, he tantalisingly draws circles around her center â of course he's a tease â and his smug smile emerges against her mouth.
"Are you actually sorry that we kissed?" he asks more firmly, and she forces herself back out of her daydream.
The truth is, no, she's not sorry that they kissed. Not in the slightest. What will he say if she tells him that? Why does she have to answer first?
If he's sorry, she'll be mortified.
But, if like her, he's not, maybe they'll kiss again.
Maybe they'll do a whole lot more than kiss again, and she'll find out if he's really a hair puller and a tease. Maybe she'll learn how he reacts when he finally runs his fingers across her center and discovers how wet she is. She imagines his sexy groan as he caresses her clit with his thumb, and she has to know what he'd do next. Maybe he'll bury his fingers inside her. Maybe he'll drop to his knees and taste her. Maybe he'll simply unzip his shorts, pull his cock free, and press into her. She'll wrap her other leg around his waist as he lifts her up and fucks her better than anyone ever has before.
"I'm not sorry," she says quickly, donning a false tone of confidence. "It was a good kiss."
Her heart pretty much stops as she awaits his response. She could have lied and told him she did regret kissing him. It's something she'd normally do to save herself potential embarrassment. Unfortunately, honesty seems like the only way to make her preposterous daydream a reality, and that might be worth risking rejection. Maybe.
"I'm not sorry, either," he says. "It was a great kiss."
He makes eye contact with her when he answers, and she's again struck with the reality of how beautiful this man is. Her cheeks turn rosy, and she turns away, watching the road ahead of her and letting out a sigh of relief.
Ron chuckles next to her, and suddenly, their fingers intertwine. It's tentative at first, as if he's trying to pass it off as an accidental brush of hands in case it's rejected, but she doesn't resist at all. They fall into a natural step, and although they avoid eye contact like nervous teenagers, it lacks the same awkwardness. It's probably because their hands fit together perfectly. Although none of her daydreams involved holding hands, this feels nice too. Amazing, actually.
It's perfect, and she doesn't need anything more than his hand touching hers. However, she's human, and Ron is objectively beautiful, so her mind still wanders back to that bridge, where she lets his hand touch her everywhere else.
She's too distracted to notice they've made it back to their hotel.
"Are you thirsty?" asks Ron.
Yes.
"Sorry⊠what?"
He laughs and gestures to the hotel bar with his other hand. It's still bustling with energy â drinks are flowing, conversation is popping, and it might just clear up the lustful fog clouding her mind. "Can I buy you a drink? Maybe a meal? It's almost dinner-time."
Hermione checks her watch â it's almost five o'clock. How did the day escape her? "Like, a date?"
"Yes. Like a date," he says. "Wifey."
Hermione doesn't cringe at the word this time. Plus, they both need a drink. "Sure, let's have a drink," she says, adding as her stomach growls, "and some food. We'll split the bill."
He raises his eyebrows at her as if expecting something more.
"Hubby."
"There it is!" He grins and slips into the bar, with Hermione following closely behind.
It's an odd journey to a first date. It's definitely not the way she has imagined it. However, Ron is an odd guy, and maybe it's time to let her imagination run a little wilder.

Holistic Analysis of âVolverâ by Pedro Almodovar
tw// mentions of child abuse, pedophilia, death, blood, and sharp objects
Conduct a holistic of the film Volver by Pedro Almodovar. Be sure to integrate terminologies and concepts from course discussions on both photography and film in your analysis. Cite all borrowed materials.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
âVolverâ by Pedro Almodovar is a 2006 Spanish film set in Madrid, Spain as well as a small village in the La Mancha Region. Upon further research, itâs noted that La Mancha is where Almodovar grew up, which indicates that this film highlights the essence of his childhood. Â
âVolverâ, which is Spanish for âto come back,â beautifully captures the importance of womenâs lives and what comes of life after death. The film is compacted with stunning architecture, camera angles, color, music and sounds, and visual images that all fit into the filmâs overall message.Â
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Composition: I have noticed throughout the film that Almodovar chose interesting and compelling camera angles for different situations. When people walk through big doors-- mostly with the windy village in La Mancha-- the camera would be at a one-point perspective. The center of the door would be the âvanishing pointâ of the frame so that youâll see the rest of the hallway that the characters will soon walk down. When Almodovar films the characters going up a flight of spiral staircases, he puts the camera on the ground facing upwards in the center to show the movement of the characters. When his characters are going down the set of stairs, he changes the angle so that the camera is at the top facing downwards. When characters are walking down or off onto the street, the camera tends to follow their movement in a single shot; either in front of the characters for more intense scenes and dialogue or on the side of the characters in a distance shot to move along the plot. I also noticed his choice of car scenes. He would usually show the red car driving down a dirt road of wind turbines in a distance shot. If there were people in the back seat, the camera would shoot from the front of the car, and if itâs only one person or two they would shoot their side profiles. I also noticed that certain frames had significance to the plot as an angle would be used for multiple shots; one with Raimunda cleaning the knife before and after the murder of Paco, and when Raimunda was standing by the tree by the river after burying Paco then later that same angle was used when Raimunda and Paula visited the same spot.Â
Visual Cues:
Color- The main color of the film-- as well as any Almodovar film-- is red. The color symbolizes death as well as womanhood-- the passion, empowerment, and life that goes with women. The film was full of bright colors, which is a usual touch that the director loves to add to all of his films. Almodovar chooses his color precisely by the setting, as he stated in his interview with Jennifer Merin about the film. He chose to use a lot of black and white because of the location and social environment of La Mancha. Those colors, he says, arenât ones he typically uses but were the best choice for those certain parts of the film. Â
Gestalt Laws:Â
Proximity- The closeness between Raimunda and Paula throughout the entirety of the film shows that the two are related in some way. The fact that the two characters are inseparable and are seen living together, an individual can assume that theyâre mother and daughter. Paco getting constantly pushed away and being distant from the characters symbolizes the dysfunctional relationship he had with Raimunda and Paula. When Sole ran away screaming from Irene upon first meeting her, one can assume that the relationship is unwanted by the forcible distance. However, we see about 20 minutes later, Sole allows Irene into her home and ends up sleeping next to her in the night. The sudden closeness indicates the love and comfortableness between a parent and child.Â
Common fate- The people of Madrid and La Mancha always kissed each otherâs cheeks as a form of greeting. Raimunda and Irene both had their partners murdered for doing something taboo. Ireneâs husband was having an affair and sexually abused and impregnated their daughter Raimunda. Raimundaâs partner, Paco, was stabbed by her daughter Paula for sexually assaulting her. Another common fate is that Raimunda and Paula were both sexually assaulted by their fathers/father figures.Â
Semiotic Signs and codes:Â
Indexical Sign- The abundance of people are dressed in minimal amounts of clothing which indicates that the weather must be quite warm. When the characters are in the La Mancha village, the characterâs clothes and hair move rapidly indicating that the area has harsh winds. Â
Symbolic Sign- The use of red in the womenâs clothing, on and in buildings, on the furniture, vehicles, and close-ups on vegetables and blood certainly doesnât go unnoticed. However, an individual who notices may not understand its significance. Therefore, the color red is an example of a symbolic sign in this film. It emphasizes the meaning of life after death and the importance of womanhood. Another example of a symbolic sign is the song sung by Raimunda within the film. The title of the music is the same as the movieâs title, âVolverâ. The song is about the need for oneâs life to come back, especially a motherâs, in order to move forward in life, which is an addition to the filmâs message. One final example is at the very beginning of the film. The women of the La Mancha village are seen cleaning off the gravestones in the local cemetery. The way the women talked with one another made the audience indicated that this was a common practice. This scene set up the meaning of life beyond death and womanhood because only women were standing over the dead.Â
Purpose of the Work: A main purpose of the work was for the director to pay homage to his childhood as the movie filmed in the place he grew up and the characters were similar to the women who raised him.Â
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Personal Perspective:Â
As usual, when films start, I need to take some time to get into it. This is the same with any kind of story, even with books. But, unlike books, I can stay focused and entertained by good cinematography. The Spanish film âVolverâ did just that for me. The stunning single-point shots and frames kept me wanting more. I completely adored the close-up shots of characters doing simple tasks. For example, when Raimunda was putting away Tupperware, washing the dishes, and grabbing paper towels-- just to name a few-- I absolutely adored how they were shot. When the plot began to thicken, however, it was more than just the cinematography that left me breathless. The acting was incredible that I was convinced I was watching someone elseâs life right before my eyes. There were many surprises that I didnât see coming that left me on the edge of my seat the whole time. When the film ended, I had felt satisfied and unsatisfied. I wanted to know more of the story, it felt like the conclusion was only starting when the credits began to roll. But, at the same time, I was okay with how it ended because I can make up my own conclusions about how I feel the story will continue. I really enjoyed how the visuals throughout the whole film were chosen carefully to match the overall message. Â
Cultural Perspective:Â
Almodovar uses a lot of past and present aspects of the Spanish culture in his films. As he grew up in Spain, itâs something he knows well and feels most inspired from. The director is obsessed with the media of Spanish culture-- such as telenovelas, magazine stories, infomercials. Almodovar adds Spanish media to his films quite often. For example, in âVolver,â he uses the idea of a film-within-a-film aspect near the end of the movie. Another example is when Paco was watching soccer on the television in the earlier shots of the film. Almodovar claims that the brightness and intenseness of the colors match the drama that Spanish films have, which is why he tends to this culture more to satisfy his creativity. A quote from a 2006 interview mentioned in an Amuse article by Colin Crummy, Almodovar states, âIt is something very Spanish but it is hardly used in Spain. It corresponds both to my personality and the baroque behaviour of my fictional characters. Explosions of colour fit in very well with high drama.â
Critical Perspective:Â
There were multiple mentions of child abuse and pedophilia within the film. One example is that Raimundaâs father abused and raped her as a child that led to the birth of Paula. Near the beginning of the film, there was an up-close shot of the fourteen-year-old girlâs private spot indicating that Paco-- the supposed father-- was looking at it, and he was creeping on her while she got undressed in her room. After a few scenes roll by, we see Paula waiting for her mother at the bus stop in the rain looking petrified. After Paula didnât give a clear answer, we see Raimunda finding Pacoâs dead body on the kitchen floor. Paula began to explain the whole event of the assault that led to her stabbing him in detail. The aspect of child abuse and murder is enough to provoke a strong response from the viewer. The whole event is extremely traumatizing that will make people talk about it afterward. A major theme throughout this film is death and the afterlife. The superstitions of spirits visiting you before you pass on overflowed the village. Irene was thought to have passed in a fire four years prior to the storyâs timeline. So, when she had visited her sister who was dying, many suspected that it was her spirit helping the living pass on. The idea of death and the afterlife is a difficult topic to bring up in conversation, so it wouldnât be unusual if someone had felt uncomfortable. There were many ways death occurred within the film; stabbing, old-age, a house fire(that was intentional), and cancer. Each death-- and the reason it happened-- can provoke an emotional response from the audience. The running themes and cultures of the film will leave anyoneâs mind wondering: whatâs next?

Two Sides of the Same Coin: An Analysis of AIRREAL in Re:FOLLOWER (2019)
Re:FOLLOWER (2019) is one of those TV dramas that you watch till the end and then have to watch from the beginning again. The identity of the enigmatic AIRREAL was one of the most intriguing questions that I had since the start and even after the final climactic reveal. Who is he? What does he symbolise? What is his relationship with Hitomi? Does he even exist? Letâs talk about the mystery of AIRREAL down in the cut below.
(So fascinated I was that I wrote an academic paper analysing his role in the drama and handed it in. Below is me finally writing what I wish I could write in that academic paper, because I have to sound objective and follow a word limit in academics. But I do not have to do that when I want to rant about Sato Ryuji on tumblr.)
((Also, spoilers ahead.))
AIRREAL is not real
The final revelation of in the last episode is, of course, the revelation that AIRREAL is not actually ârealâ in the fullest sense â that is, he isnât a separate human being, but has only existed in Hitomiâs head the whole time. Hints about his non-existence are scattered all over the drama.
AIRREALâs name, costuming, and behaviour
AIRREAL's name is taken from Ariel in the Tempest, a spirit (not a human!), which already hints at his non-existence. Furthermore, his name, unlike all the other direct references to Shakespearean texts, is spelt differently: AIRREAL. The two parts of the name "AIR" and "REAL" already raises the question of why it's spelt that way. Is he real? Or is he just air?
His costuming, particularly because Sato Ryuji is dramatic and asked for it, stands out from everyone else, who is dressed rather normally. He has bright blue eyes and coloured highlights in his hair that change from episode to episode without any explanation. Compare that to the naturalistic costuming that everyone else has and it highlights him as a strange character.
He never moves anything nor passes anything directly to anyone. In Episode 1, he tosses the book to Hitomi and Hitomi is seen catching it. In Episode 3, he drops the book on the table instead of handing it to Hitomi. When sitting down, he never moves the chair.
He never speaks directly to anyone except Hitomi, and nobody speaks directly to AIRREAL except Hitomi either. When communicating with Tomoki, for example, he does it exclusively through text. He never addresses anyone directly by speaking, other than Hitomi. In Episode 2, he appears to be speaking to the whole group, but nobody reacts to his words (with the exception of Hitomi). In fact, there are quite a number of times when he appears to simply speak into the air. Nobody reacts to him except Hitomi.
âPlot holesâ
He appears in places with no explanation. Hitomi and Tomoki spend about an episode and a half infiltrating the Kurikara cult to get in their building and temple. However, AIRREAL suddenly appears in the hallway and the room with them (Episode 4), with no explanation to who he is. Nobody reacts to his sudden appearance. Nobody asks why heâs there. He just appears and enters the room as if heâs always been there.
Another example is when Hitomi is on the run. Hitomi and Mina have been running around randomly without a clear destination for about an episode, trying to dodge the police. Just then, AIRREAL somehow magically appears across the lake from them, with no explanation about how AIRREAL knew that Hitomi would be there, a completely random spot that Hitomi had stopped at to take a breath.
When passing tickets to Hitomi, Yuusaku gives him two tickets to the play (even though there are three of them). Hitomi goes to the play, and Tomoki looks up at the time and realises heâs missed it, indicating that the two tickets were most likely meant for Hitomi and Tomoki (who doesnât make it to the show). What about AIRREAL? AIRREAL shows up to the play to watch it, but leaves in the middle of it later. But if CRESSIDA was a four-man group, why would Yuusaku only give two tickets to his three friends?
Cinematography
The camera uses certain shots that suggest AIRREALâs immateriality. Thereâs a shot-reverse-shot in Episode 4, where AIRREAL mysteriously vanishes in the final shot. AIRREALâs abrupt and sudden disappearances continues in Episode 6-7, where AIRREAL suddenly vanishes from the theatre and appears outside even while the play is still going on.
Thereâs also the ending of Episode 3, which portrays (the spirit of) the dead boy Taku appearing over the hill to symbolically represent that he has moved on. AIRREAL appears in the shot just after Takuâs voice is heard â and then Taku is seen coming over the hill. Placing AIRREAL before Takuâs appearance not only suggests that he is not actually there because it equates him with Taku, who is also clearly not meant to be seen as ârealâ, but also suggests that AIRREAL has brought Taku with him to say one last goodbye.
AIRREAL is often portrayed being in the distance as well, such as in Episode 7âs ending, giving him a distant, solitary feel compared to the rest of the characters.
The use of a low angle in the climax of Episode 10 where AIRREAL appears to be standing above Hitomi also gives AIRREAL an unreal feeling because he does not seem to be grounded in anything â the background behind him is completely white (presumably the sky). All of these shots contribute to the idea that AIRREAL is not actually a âreal personâ in that sense.
AIRREAL and Hitomi are the same person
Double exposure
The relationship between AIRREAL and Hitomi is hinted even in Episode 1. The use of double exposure and overlapping voices shows how AIRREAL and Hitomi are overlapping personalities, not two different people all together. This double exposure happens multiple times. It happens twice in Episode 1: First, in the intro flashback, which shows their voices blending into each other as well.
The second comes from an extremely jarring sequence, in which AIRREAL passes Hitomi while walking down the street. It is filmed in slow-motion and comes to a pause using a freeze-frame. There is a series of quick jump-cuts between the two of them, then a double exposure of a negative image onto the freeze-frame. In the negative image, their positions are the reverse of the freeze-frame, so that they appear to be "in" each other. Then, there's multiple double exposures of their faces flashing quickly. As the scene resumes into normal speed, they lift their phones at the same time.
Another instance of this double exposure happening is in Episode 6's climax. In this case, the scene starts with a series of jump cuts between Hitomi and AIRREAL's faces and then slowly fades AIRREAL's face in Hitomi. Another thing significant about the scene is that their voices also mirror this effect, starting with only AIRREAL's voice (even though Hitomi is shown to be speaking, so it's non-diegetic) and then fading in with Hitomi's voice gradually. There's an implication that even though Hitomi is speaking to the crowd, it is AIRREAL who is actually the one speaking through Hitomi. Their identities, voices, faces all overlap into each other.
Blocking
AIRREAL is also shown to be behind Hitomi. In the library scene in Episode 1, the camera quickly pans from Hitomi to reveal that AIRREAL is sitting behind him â AIRREAL is the driving force behind many of Hitomiâs actions. This blocking (of AIRREAL being behind Hitomi) repeatedly occurs. He is shown trailing behind Hitomi in Episode 3 as they walk towards the field, as the camera pans from Hitomi to AIRREAL (drawing an equivalence between them).
AIRREAL's phone
One of the biggest hints and also one of the reasons why some keen-eyed people were able to guess the big twist from Episode 1 is the presence of AIRREAL's phone in a key scene: the intro flashback. AIRREAL's phone is kept off to the side, but it's present in Hitomi's room, even though presumably AIRREAL is not there. When AIRREAL is introduced, we don't see his face at first. First, we see a shot of his back, then we first see his hand and his phone, before he slowly moves it away, revealing his face. AIRREAL's "identity" is represented through his phone, as shown in the later revelation in Episode 10, where they reveal that Hitomi has been carrying around 2 phones and texting from both of them, without realising it.
Mirroring
AIRREAL and Hitomi also mirror each other multiple times. In Episode 2, they both pause in their step at the same spot between the bookshelves while walking around the library. (In the behind the scenes commentary, Ryuji also mentions that they were supposed to mirror each other's actions, but Shun didnât, oops.) In Episode 4, the shot-reverse-shot shows AIRREAL and Hitomi both pulling a book from the shelf at the same time. These parallels between them show their sameness.
AIRREAL is the Darkness to Hitomi's Light
So, AIRREAL and Hitomi are the same person, as revealed in the ending. What sets them apart?
AIRREAL represents darker instincts of vengeance while Hitomi is meant to be the beacon of justice.
Episode 3 epitomises the difference between them. AIRREAL sets up the entire incident: he is the one who lures everyone to the field so that Yui can kill Shuiichi's boy in front of him as revenge for Shuiichi's murder of Taku. But Hitomi calls Yui's father to stop her from going through it by making her realise that she needs to let Taku go. The balance between what is revenge and what is justice is very delicate, but justice (represented by Hitomi's intervention) wins. The shallow focus shifts from AIRREAL to Hitomi in the conclusion of the incident. They are parallels of each other, not polar opposites. In that same line of thought, revenge and justice are not opposites, but two sides of the same coin, and the fact that they are actually the same person reinforces that there is justice in revenge and vice versa.
Costuming and Personality
Their costuming and styling reflects their differences. AIRREAL is typically dressed in black and other dark colours, while Hitomi tends to wear brighter colours like yellow. When Hitomi does wear dark colours, it indicates that AIRREAL's influence is very strong in that particular scene. The flashback sequence, where AIRREAL presumably first appears to Hitomi, is one, because AIRREAL manifests out of Hitomi's grief and need for revenge. Another important one is Episode 5-6, when Hitomi confronts the Kurikara cult. Their identities in Episode 5-6 become roughly indistinguishable from each other, showing that his want for personal revenge for the cover-up his mother's death (by Inukai, the cult leader) and the justice that he is serving for the client have become indistinguishable.
In reverse, AIRREAL also becomes more 'real', or in other words, human over time. He loses his coloured hair highlights by Episode 8. In relation, his personality also becomes warmer over time. In Episode 3, he is willing to let the little boy die for the sake of revenge. However, he later apologises to Tomoki for endangering him in Episode 7, one of the rare times that AIRREAL shows concern for the collateral damage of his vengeance.
Final Confrontation
In the final climax of the series in Episode 10, when Hitomi fights Yuusaku, the most pivotal moment comes when the dagger falls to the ground and Hitomi reaches for it, saying that he must avenge his mother's death. Goto and Ogishima are framed in the background but frozen and out of focus, which indicate that the events that unfold are not actually happening but are occurring in Hitomi's head. AIRREAL then appears, standing over Hitomi, and takes over the fight, easily knocking Yuusaku to the ground and intending to stab him (yes, for real!). He quotes a line from Hamlet: âMy words fly up, my thoughts remain below.â In Hamlet, this line suggests that even as he prays (my words fly up), Claudiusâs thoughts remain in hell and are ungodly (my thoughts remain below), hence, his prayers are insincere and he remains unrepentant for his sin of murdering his brother. AIRREAL referencing this quote shows that he will have no guilt in killing Yuusaku as he believes it to be justified in his revenge.
Recall Episode 3, when Yui was in almost the exact situation. Hitomi, having experienced not just the death of his mother, but also the "Dog", who was accidentally killed by Mina. Hitomi realises that killing Yuusaku to avenge his motherâs murder would only cause him pain, and this, coupled with Gotoâs voice (like Yuiâs father in Episode 3) âwakesâ him up. The camera cuts to a medium shot of him dropping the knife as if in a daze, and Goto tackles him to the ground. This is followed by a low angle shot of AIRREAL, who falls backwards, and a montage of different AIRREAL moments from various episodes.
Disoriented, Hitomi looks around and calls for AIRREAL. Goto and later Mina try to explain to him that AIRREAL has never been âthereâ, but that he has been AIRREAL the whole time, causing him to break down. His first friend and truest supporter does not actually exist, but has been within himself the whole time
The case of AIRREALâs identity
So, back to the question. Who is AIRREAL? Why did Hitomi create him? In the montage that follows this realisation, we see different scenes of AIRREAL from various episodes, but with AIRREAL missing, showing that Hitomi has been by himself this whole time. In the voice over, Rei, Hitomiâs (or Naoâs, because that was his name before his motherâs death) mother, talks about how Ariel in the Tempest vanishes at the end of the story. As she says that, we see a shot of AIRREAL (from Episode 2, judging by his attire, by the way) walking away into the distance and vanishing. In Tempest, Ariel is bound to serve Prospero and fulfils various tasks for him, and when all of them are done, he is released. In the same manner, AIRREAL was created by Hitomi for a specific purpose.
I believe that AIRREAL was created because Hitomi could no longer bear the burden of his grief and deep-rooted anger about his motherâs death. Knowing that she had been murdered, Hitomi was unable to move on from her death, but felt entirely helpless to fight against those who killed her and covered it up. It is in this greatest state of helplessness and grief that AIRREAL was born. AIRREAL was created to help to take this darkness from Hitomi, and therefore Hitomi projected his deep and dark desire for revenge onto him.Â
We can see this from AIRREALâs own words, as he states that he will become Hitomiâs power/strength â strength that he needs in order to overcome his own helplessness and also his enemies (those who killed and covered up his motherâs death). He states this twice, first in the intro flashback and in the final confrontation, where he reminds Hitomi that he does not have to take on the task of killing Yuusaku by himself â AIRREAL is there to be the darkness, so that Hitomi does not have to be. In this way, AIRREAL protects Hitomi from being lost in his quest for revenge by taking it on himself.
Also, the name âShiroe Kimitoâ, which is the reported âreal nameâ of AIRREAL (not that he has a real name but it was a red herring by the producers), is an anagram of âKishimoto Reiâ, the name of Hitomiâs mother, showing how the image of AIRREAL that Hitomi created was based on the memory of his mother. It is his memory of her that drove Hitomi to create AIRREAL so that he might be able to avenge her. Actually, even âHitomiâ, the name that he chose for himself after being released from prison, is based on his mother, showing that his whole life had been completely altered when he lost his mother and that his whole identity is based on that incident.
AIRREAL vanishes after the final confrontation, having fulfilled the purpose of finding out the truth about his motherâs death and captured the one responsible for it. Hitomi is finally able to move on with Mina, and like Ariel in the Tempest, AIRREALâs role is finished and he vanishes.
Or is he?
In the very final scene, he looks back, before he turns and walks away. But the camera then cuts to AIRREAL again, who, much like in his introduction flashback, moves the phone away to reveal his face.
AIRREALâs work is still not finished. Not yet.
(and if it werenât for [censored] weâd actually be able to know what it is but unfortunately the sequel stage was cancelled and we cannot have nice things.)
AIRREAL and Hitomi are two sides of the same coin. AIRREAL is yin to Hitomiâs yang. They are different, yes, and AIRREAL embodies darker aspects of vengeance, but one cannot exist without the other. It is this relationship between AIRREAL and Hitomi, and therefore the ideas of justice and revenge, that characterise the themes of Re:FOLLOWER as a whole.

âOoh, look at that house.â Hoseok murmurs, almost to himself given how quiet his voice had gone. Pausing from your walk, you turn around and see that heâs stopped a feet away, his camera being held up to his eye as he looks through the viewfinder. Thereâs a few moments where he shifts around, trying to find the best angle and lighting before you hear the click of the shutter.
Heâs not even looking at you as he begins walking again, instead his eyes are focused on the LCD screen on the back of his camera. Leaning against him a little when he finally reaches you, you peer around at what heâd just taken a photo of and smile in amusement.
After all of the bad stuff that had happened recently, youâd found yourself needing to do something to distract yourself. The antidepressants no longer gave you any major side effects and you thought that they were working, though it was probably too early to say yes or no for definite. But you also wanted to thank Hoseok for being so sweet and reliable.
As such, youâd asked Chungha if her family might let you use their beach house for the weekend. It was one of those big, rambling wooden beach houses that always looked so pretty, its yard bumping up against soft white sand and an endless expanse of beautiful blue ocean as far as the eye could see.Â
The town it was in was equally picturesque, one of those places that looks like itâs been transplanted from some old European place with plenty of old style charm and warmth. Chunghaâs house had apparently been in her family for generations; some long ago ancestor had built it themselves when theyâd arrived and since then, her family had moved on and it had become more of a holiday home.
Youâd been there once during college when Chungha had invited Soyeon and you for spring break. It had been a great time and youâd just known that Hoseok would love it all, particularly for his photography.
So youâd told him to make sure he wasnât doing anything this weekend and to bring his camera before driving out here. Heâd been excited enough to know that you were both spending a weekend at the beach, apparently he loved the ocean, but when he actually saw the town as you were driving through and then the house heâd been thoroughly charmed by it all.
That had been yesterday, the both of you getting to see the town just as the sun was setting in the winter hours and so today, Saturday, was the first time you were getting to show him it all properly. The house heâd just taken a picture of was on one of the little side streets and it looked adorably quaint, its wooden front painted a delicate shell white with baby pink window frames and a soft yellow door.
Flower boxes full of what must be winter blooming flowers and plants were hung from the windows while planters of small, ornate bushes framed the door. The awnings along the roof were also wood but had been intricately carved, giving it the impression of some kind of fairytale house.
The photos that Hoseok had taken looked pretty enough, but you knew that heâd do some magical editing later and theyâd look beautiful. You could already see how the contrasting colours would look perfect against the greenery surrounding the building and you couldnât help the smile that spread over your face as Hoseok made little noises as he walked.
He did that a lot when he was happy, and you didnât know if he knew he did it. You werenât going to tell him though, because you didnât want him to get embarrassed about it and stop doing them. It made you happy to hear his vocalisation of his own emotions, and you needed some happiness lately.
Wrapping your arm around his, you pressed against him until he veered slightly off course. Looking up, he checks that heâs not about to walk off the road before looking down at you with a grin, letting his camera drop to hang by the strap around his neck and withdrawing his arm from your grasp before placing it around your waist contentedly.Â
âThis place is great, my photos are gonna look awesome.â He commented, his tone already distracted as he spotted something new in the distance that had attracted his attention. Smiling, you simply lay your head against his shoulder and justâŠenjoy his presence. Youâd been well aware of his love for photography and had watched over the last few months as heâd done some casual stuff around the place you lived in alongside taking your photos for your Instagram.
But this was the first time you were truly seeing the raw passion he had for it. The way his eyes lit up when he got a good shot or how bright his smile became when he saw something that he knew would look perfect on camera.
âWhy didnât you do photography professionally? Your photos are great and you obviously love it, youâve got a good eye.â You ask, looking up at him as he evidently decides that heâs not going to take another photo.
For a few seconds, he doesnât respond but you can tell by the way he purses his lips slightly and his dimples come to life that heâs thinking about the answer for you. Eventually, thought he just shrugs.
âBecause I was young and dumb? I liked photography when I was a teenager but it was never my number one thing. And then I went to college and finally learnt to handle my emotions better. By that pointâŠI just wanted something stable in my life. As much as I love photography, I know that itâs not really a hugely stable job and I might never make it. I wasnât ready to risk myself when Iâd finally gotten my life on track again.â He sounds a little bit wistful but it vanishes as he shrugs lightly.
âItâs fine, I love my job now and I love computers. I get to enjoy photography as a hobby, which is all I want to be honest. Iâd be worried that if I turned my hobby into my job then I wouldnât love it anymore, you know?â Nodding, you hum gently as you ponder on his question intently.
Hoseok is only two years older than you, and sometimes it feels like heâs got his whole life sorted out already. Like heâs a real adult and youâre just a pretend adult. The thought makes you laugh to yourself, shaking your head as Hoseok gives you a querying look.
Heâd probably think the same thing if you told him. What was being an adult anyway? You still called your dad for the simplest of things after all.
Smiling to yourself, you huddle further into Hoseokâs warmth and take the opportunity to simply chat lightly with him. Next weekend, you would be going to his parents for the first time. And if heâd been nervous to meet your parents, then you were terrified to meet his.
Hoseokâs family was pretty well off compared to yours and heâd never really wanted for anything. The fact that theyâd lost a daughter made that all seem pointless in comparison really, but it made you feel a little sick thinking about it. You were dating their only child now, the only child they had left out of what had been two.
Heâd never said anything but nice things about them but you knew that parents were always god in their childrenâs eyes. Especially if they had no negative emotions or feelings towards them. And Hoseok adored his mom, you knew that. But that just made it all the more worse.
Youâd read more than enough subreddits to have realised that there was a special category of mom and that was the moms of sons. Some seemed to be fine, but some seemed to act like a girlfriend was taking their place in their sonâs life. There were plenty of horrifying stories out there of women treating their sons girlfriend or wife horrifically bad and the son being unable to see it because of how much he loved her.
While you doubted Hoseokâs mom was like that, and for that you didnât really think Hoseok would react happily if his parents were mean, it was still a worry. Youâd never met a guyâs parents before. So that was all rushing through your mind as well. Yet another reason youâd opted to spend this weekend just enjoying each otherâs company.
Taking a breath, you let you a small âoohâ as you realised that you smell something delicious. Looking to the side, your eyes widen as you see a cafĂ© with its door swinging shut, sending a waft of delightful smells your way. The delicious looking array of baked goods and sweets in the shop front make it even more enticing and you purse your lips as your mouth waters.
Pausing, you let go of him to step closer, focusing intently on a delicious red velvet cake that was topped with decadent buttercream frosting. You donât even realise youâre making a face at the cake until you hear Hoseokâs chuckle and the sound of a shutter once more.
Looking at him with wide eyes, you sigh affectionately as you see him pulling his camera down with a grin. Turning it around he shows you see the image that heâd just taken and you smile at how heâd focused on your face, the background soft and pretty as you stared intently into the cafĂ© front.
You always hated having your photograph taken, until Jung Hoseok had started taking them. As long as he was the one behind the camera, you knew that he wouldnât make you look ugly or anything.
âDo you want one?â He asks, gesturing to the display. Humming lightly, you chew on your lip before nodding with a smile. This was a weekend of doing stuff to make you happy, which obviously meant that you had to treat yourself.
The answering grin on Hoseokâs face tells you that he probably knows that, but he doesnât comment on it. Instead, he gestures for you to go inside the dual cafĂ© and shop. Itâs nice and warm inside, making you realise just how brisk and chilly it had been outside and you unwrap your scarf from around your neck.
âGo sit down, Iâll get your stuff.â Hoseok says, leaning forward and kissing your forehead quickly before handing you his camera and backpack. You take both from him without complaint, wanting to tell him that youâll pay but you know thereâs no way heâs letting that happen right now.
Youâd learnt to pick your fights with Hoseok, or arguments rather. Particularly as you hated arguing and all of that so you tried your hardest to not argue at all. And this wasnât something worth the time or effort.
The cafĂ© isnât that busy so you make sure to grab a table a little further inside. Itâs only knee high but the dark red couch that accompanies it looks far too comfy to give up, particularly given the abundance of soft, multi-patterned cushions.Â
Carefully placing Hoseokâs camera on the table and his backpack on the floor, you add your own bag before sinking down into the blissfully squishy couch. The cushions practically envelop you and you canât help but smile as you almost fall backwards, resting against the equally soft back.
Yeah, this was a good spot. And it let you people watch in the whole café along with a perfect view of the street outside.
Hoseok came over with a tray in his hands and you take a moment to peruse him, enjoying the little triangle his lips have turned into as he concentrates on not dropping anything. It makes him look adorably cute, which is at complete odds with the rest of his look.Â
His one concession to being in this pretty town today had been that he was wearing a white shirt, just a hint of the outline of his tattoo whenever he moved a certain way. But that was it though. Otherwise, he definitely didnât look like he belonged in this place.
Grey distressed jeans with holes ripped into the knees met his new pair of black Dr Martens, a present heâd bought himself after a particularly hard week. An equally dark leather jacket was slung casually over his shoulders, the silver points on it highlighted by the silver necklaces he wore and the new hoops in his ears and the ring in his lip.
As usual, he looked incredibly handsome and the perfect picture of grunge and rock. But he really didnât fit this overlyâŠdainty town and you almost wanted to laugh at how out of place his fashion was, even in this cafĂ©. He must be used to it by now, particularly given he was dating you but it still amused you anyway.
âWhat are you laughing at?â Eyes widening, you realise that you mustâve been smiling or something at him because he had a decidedly amused look on his face as he places the tray on the table. A big slice of red velvet cake is placed in front of you alongside a fork while he puts a fancy looking sandwich down in front of himself before sitting.
Heâs got you a tall glass of water, flavoured with some real strawberries that makes you âoohâ in delight while he takes a sip of whatever tea heâd bought. Peering over at his plate, you give him a raised brow and he smiles.
âPastrami, Swiss cheese, mayo, tomato and lettuce.â He grins and you make another noise, watching intently as he takes a bite. A spot of mayo stays on the corner of his lips and you reach over, wiping it away with one of the paper napkins heâd brought too.
âGood?â You ask, curious as you eye the thickly stacked sandwich questioningly. Pausing, Hoseok looks at you before nodding and making a sigh so quiet that you almost didnât hear it. But then he offers it to you, gesturing for you to take a bite and you grin happily.
The flavours burst in your mouth, combining together beautifully and you let out the tiniest moan of contentment at just how delicious they all are. Youâre surprised Hoseok doesnât mind the mayonnaise given heâs not a fan of it, but you suppose itâs just like people liking tuna mayo and not mayonnaise.
The next fifteen minutes are spent with the both of you slowly eating the sandwich, one bite at a time and you canât help but hum happily with howâŠcontent you feel with everything right now. Itâs a very bizarre concept to you and youâre sure itâs the antidepressants, working properly like theyâre supposed to.
Maybe itâs just a placebo effect, but you canât find it in yourself to care.
âGod this place is so nice.â Hoseok sighs once heâs finished, slumping on the couch and resting his hands over his stomach. You poke it gently and giggle as he overly exaggerates a pout before reaching forward for the plate of cake. Take a large section, you eat it slowly and make an appreciative noise before glancing back at your boyfriend.
âThis is so good, holy shit.â You whisper, eyes widening as he laughs loudly at your reaction. His mouth is engaged pretty quickly though as you feed him a piece of the cake, watching as he contemplates for a second before nodding agreement with you.
Wriggling in your seat, you continue to eat the cake with sole minded focus while Hoseok just watches you for a moment. That is, until he reaches for his camera, popping the lens off and changing it for you knew was better for closer shots. Sure enough, just like youâd suspected, he lifts the camera up and raises a brow at you, asking the question silently.
With a mouth full of cake, you donât answer verbally but instead nod a little shyly as you swallow as quickly as possible. It just makes him snort though, lifting the camera to his face and angling it exactly how he wanted. Youâre not entirely sure what he wants you to do but you canât help but look down at the plate, fork cutting into the soft cake as you try not to feel too embarrassed about him photographing you in a place where other people are probably looking.
Outside it felt fine, but it felt very personal in here with the dimmer lighting and such.Â
âYouâre so beautiful, you know that?â Hoseok says, his voice soft as he checks over the image and you feel so many emotions at once that youâre not sure what youâre actually feeling. Embarrassed? Pleased? Shy? Happy? Heâs the only man whoâs ever called you beautiful outside of your dad.
So you deflect it with sarcasm, because thatâs how you dealt with things that made you feel shy. A terrible coping mechanism, you know, but it has got you through life so far.
âHas that sandwich turned you sappy? Or was it the cake?â From the way Hoseokâs lips twist, you can tell that he wants to laugh but instead he just continues to flick through the photos heâs taken over the day. Itâs one of the things you like best about him, that he never lets your awkwardness interrupt.
âCan I take one of us?â He asks, his voice gentle as he poses the question to you. You loved that about him, that heâd learnt to always ask if he could take a photograph of you both together. Nodding, you lean into his body and smile at the camera as he holds it out in front of you both. Thereâs a moment of nothing before he clicks the button a few times.
Placing the now empty plate down, you lean back on the couch and let out a deep sigh, belly full and your mind happy. There would have been a time when youâd have been ashamed of your body after eating, not wanting Hoseok to see anything that he might find ugly. But youâd learnt by now that he wasnât like that, and he didnât even notice that kind of stuff.
So you let yourself just relax fully against the cushions, moving your hand to rest on his thigh and simply enjoying the contact while he looks at the selfies. He shows them to you and you canât help but feel a flutter in your stomach at how happy you both look, your eyes bright with sweet smiles on both your faces. Youâd also discovered that you liked having your photo taken with him.
The two of you fall into a comfortable silence after that, the sounds taken up instead by the gentle music flowing through the speakers, the quiet chatter of other customers and the clinking of cutlery on plates. It all feels veryâŠdomestic and you have one of those moments where you realise how strange this all is for you.
If youâd been told a year ago that youâd be sat here, on a weekend break to a little beach town with your boyfriend of nine months after suffering a breakdown and finally reaching out for help, youâd have laughed in their face. Being on antidepressants might have been believable sure, but a boyfriend? Thatâs been with you for nine months?
No, you wouldâve never believed that.
And yet here he was, in all his outrageously attractive glory with his calm and reassuring presence. For you. Because of you.Â
Hoseok smiles at something on his camera and you canât help the smile in response, a bubble of emotion rising inside you as you watch the way his eyes almost glitter, the skin beneath them swelling in that way they do when heâs happy and the shape of his eyes becoming those sweet little half moons that he always got when he was feeling particularly joyful. It was a mix of happiness, fondness and something else, something much deeper.
âYou have such pretty eyes.â You whisper without meaning to, practically purring with delight as those eyes get even smaller as his cheeks rise from the size of the grin heâs sporting. Thereâs just a hint of pink on them now and you coo at him, carefully taking his camera and putting it into the shooting mode.
Lifting it up to your eye, you wonder if the camera will ever be able to get across just how much you care for this man. Just how much you adore him and will treasure him for as long as you are able to have him. Youâre not sure, but you want to try at least.
His face comes into focus in the tiny viewfinder and you watch in enjoyment as he gets a slightly bashful look on his face, your compliment evidently still being consumed. But you donât let him off that easy and instead decide to lay it on a little thicker.
âSuch pretty eyes and a beautiful nose. Youâre so handsome, I swear. Itâs not fair. Even your smile is like a heart!â The pink starts to stain deeper, his ears slowly turning too while he bites at his lip, the silver ring catching the light perfectly and you snap away happily.
He lets you take photos with the camera until finally he reaches out, gesturing for it. You give it back to him happily, content that he went along with you long enough that you got some pretty pictures of him. Leaning back against his arm, you rest your head on his shoulder and watch as he flicks through the pictures.
âI want those pictures. Just so you know.â You state, letting him know that heâs going to have to edit them for you and he canât just delete them. He doesnât argue back, just nodding before pressing a kiss to your forehead affectionately.
-
The sea here during summer is a beautiful blue that shimmers like a jewel, but at the moment itâs duller. A coldness rolls in from afar, the waves harsher with the oncoming winter and you shiver inside your coat, wrapping your arms around your waist.
After leaving the cafĂ©, Hoseok and you had walked around the town some more. Heâd taken a few more pictures of things he thought were interesting before youâd asked if you could take some photographs too. That has resulted in him giving you a quick tutorial in how to use his camera in depth. You had a brief experience with it obviously, but actually doing anything more than just simply clicking wasnât something you had experience with.
It had been fun though. Not only had you enjoyed taking the photos themselves, along with the process of trying to decide what would make a good shot, but youâd enjoyed interacting with Hoseok about something he was passionate about. You felt like heâd done a lot of the heavy lifting in your relationship so far, and you wanted to try and show more of an interest in what made him happy.
And he seemed to quite enjoy teaching you different shooting techniques. It wasnât ever going to be your thing, but youâd decided that you would be more than happy to go along with him whenever he got the creative urge.
Now though, you were both walking along the beach back to the house. It perhaps wasnât as nice of a walk as it could have been given the chilly temperatures, but it gave you the perfect opportunity to get closer to Hoseok.
Leaning into him as you both trudge against the shifting sand beneath your feet, you canât help but smile as the wind blows the familiar smell of Hoseok to you. Youâd always thought that he smelled good and the thought runs through your mind even now, thankful that he was someone who actually took care of himself.
There had been far too many guys in college who had thought that hygiene was just a word they couldnât spell properly.
Neither of you says anything, too happy and content in the familiar silence between you both and youâre thankful for that too. It had always been hard to find people with whom silence was just a comfortable experience and not an anxiety inducing event where you mentally scrambled for a topic to talk about.
With Hoseok though, you didnât feel that need to talk and he didnât bother with any small talk either. Instead, you both just enjoyed the world around you and the simple company of each other.
You donât notice that heâs fallen behind you once more, too concentrated on not falling over in the sand as you spy the house in the distance. Itâs only when you go to reach out for his hand, hoping to curl your fingers together inside the pocket of his coat and find nothing but air that you realise.
Turning around, a particularly harsh and severe wind cuts through you, causing you to wrap your arms around yourself even tighter as you shiver while you stagger slightly from the force. Looking back at Hoseok with wide eyes, you canât help but laugh when you see how red his cheeks have gone from the windchill. His camera is being slowly lowered and you can see that even his fingers are red too.
Reaching up, you cup his cheeks and coo gently at how cold they feel against your hands, thumbs stroking the slight stubble growing from his lack of shaving this morning. Grinning, you eye his nose in amusement, the elegant tip now pink from the cold sea breeze.
Pushing up onto your tiptoes, you press your lips to said nose affectionately. Itâs gentle and quick, but you bite your lip as you see the happy look in his brown eyes.
âCold nose.â You tease him lightly, moving one hand to press the tip of your forefinger against it. He lets you for a few seconds before moving his head just enough to allow him to kiss your finger instead, his gaze warm against the chilly conditions.
âI love you.â Hoseok says it so casually that you donât even really register what heâs just said at first. Instead, youâre still just smiling at him with a look of pure girlish happiness on your face from how sweet he looks and the adorable reaction heâd had to your kiss.
And then it does. Those syllables become words in your head and those words gain meaning, causing you to jolt back from him slightly as you comprehend them.Â
Your eyes must be astonishingly wide right now, your jaw dropped open at some point and in the back of your mind, you note how cold your teeth feel against the wind. But thatâs not what you can focus on.
Hoseok loves you. He loves you. He loves you and heâs told you this.
No one had ever told you that they loved you outside of friends and family. A swirl of emotions forms a vortex in your stomach and youâre not sure whether you want to cry, shout, dance for joy or throw up. It wasnât really a big deal, people said it to each other all the time, right?
âI donât expect you to say it, and Iâve held back until I felt you might be able to accept it a little better. But I really do. And I hope me telling you can make you as happy as I feel telling you.â Now heâs cupping your face, the palms of his hands so hot against your cheeks.
And heâs smiling, lips spreading and his white teeth showing as the gesture gets wider and bigger with dual amusement and happiness. For a few seconds, you simply gawp at him, unable to form words before you look away, shyness you havenât felt in months with him rising to the fore.
âEven afterâŠeverything?â You donât need anyone to pull apart what youâve just said as you understand it better than anyone. After the breakdown and crippling depression, the side effects of the antidepressants, the long time itâs taken for him to get anywhere with you in terms of a relationship. You were happy with how everything had gone with him, but you knew that there would be many men who would be frustrated.
âYep. And I donât want to make a big thing out of this, okay? Itâs just how I feel. I donât want to overwhelm you or have expectations on you. The sun is hot, space is big, this wind is really cold and I love you. Thatâs all. Now, I think maybe we should head back to the house, call for takeout and then spend the rest of the night cuddled up. Sounds good?â Just like heâd said, he doesnât ponder on what heâd said.
And you understand him instinctively, because you would be the same way. He evidently doesnât want to analyse his words, maybe because he just doesnât want to or maybe because he didnât want to make you overthink.
But you canât deny the fizzing happiness that zaps through your veins as you smile at him brightly, the emotion beating out everything else youâre feeling to be the most prominent. He loves you.
âNetflix and chill?â You ask, your voice a tiny bit hoarse and a little shy, but Hoseok takes your words with a grin of relief as he nods.
Tangling your fingers together, he begins to walk back down the beach while you keep pace beside him. âThought youâd never ask.â

That Summer Feeling by laurelhips / @laurelhips | Explicit | 2093 words
"It was still a lazy summer evening, the sun was still floating in the sky and the balcony window was letting in a warm breeze. Harry thumbed at Louisâ hipbone, easing his lips off Louisâ skin just to mumble âTurn over, darling.â Louis cracked a small smile, turning over slowly and revealing the back half of his naked body. Harryâs tongue felt too big for his mouth. He swallowed as he took in the sight. Heâd never get tired of this."
How Easy You Are To Need by sweetums / @darlou | Explicit | 2356 words
Note: This fic is a sequel to this fic.
A day in the life type of drabble where Harry returns home after a business trip to his boy and a surprise visit from his niece.
Fine Line by Speechless | Explicit | 3281 words
This is just a tiny fanfiction that in my head was really just a Survival Instinct spin off, but then became a thing of its own.
No One But You Got Me Feeling This Way by runaway_train / @runaway-train-works | Explicit | 3787 words
Harry is well aware he should be studying or watching T.V or cleaning the kitchen or doing literally anything from a list as long as his arm instead of this, but he is. The list of reasons why he shouldnât be doing this is probably at least double that, but here he most definitely is. Heâs sitting on his bed, legs straight out in front of him, back propped up against the headboard and some fluffed-up pillows and his MacBook is resting on his thighs. His jittery fingers drum lightly on the edge of the keyboard as he stares at the tiny digital clock in the top right hand corner of the screen, willing the seconds to tick by faster. He wants to get into this and get it over with in equal measures.
Like Sangria by Harryskiwiposes / @hadtobelou | Explicit | 4152 words
As he looked up to the ceiling he imagined what it would feel like to have this man all to himself, all night long. He wanted the man in his bed, spread out underneath him, his skin begging to be kissed by a little more than just the sun.
Harry let out a small chuckle at the thought because he hadnât even wanted to come on this beach vacation in the first place - he had wanted to go sightseeing in New York City. However, Niall and Liam had outnumbered him and so two days ago they had all boarded a plane to Jamaica for a lads holiday celebrating Liamâs thirtieth birthday.
Digging his fingers into the manâs hips, Harry sent a silent prayer up to the heavens that he was currently not sightseeing in New York and was instead on his way to hooking up with the sexiest man he had ever encountered.
Bad Idea! by rina_a / @lougendarey | Explicit | 4247 words
âIâm gonna ruin you.â And words had never felt so real in his life. Harry was going to ruin him in every way and Louis knew it. He had memories scattered all throughout his brain of the pain and pleasure of being destroyed by Harry. The feeling of ecstasy he was currently experiencing outweighed how much it was going to hurt in the next morning when Harry vanished. He was melting under Harryâs touch and that was the only thing that mattered. He could feel Harryâs smooth and strong biceps under his hands as he arched his back against the car door, unsure if he was leaning into Harryâs lips or moving away from them.
Can You Feel The Fever by delsicle / @emperorstyles | Explicit | 5113 words
Note: This fic is a sequel to this fic.
Tour has Harry exhausted. Luckily exactly what he needs is waiting for him in his Sacramento dressing room.
Gotta Catch 'Em All by larryent / @larryent | Explicit | 5186 words
Louis loves Pokémon GO, he gets a little crazy and ends up ramming into a guy. Harry gets mad, calls him a brat and treats him like one. Oh, and they're in central park.
I'm Slipping Under by purpledandelion / @purpledandelion | Explicit | 5351 words
Note: This fic is a sequel to this fic.
What better way would there actually exist than starting it filthily with Louis falling apart on his tongue? Nothing else could have surpassed that.
Nothing.
That's what Harry had thought at first, at least.
Just Fuck by rbbsbb / @rbbsbb | Explicit | 5565 words
Louisâ so drunk off Harry, thoughâeven more than all of the drinks that heâs hadâthat he doesnât even want to look anywhere else. Heâs dying for it, for Harry to hold him down and fill him up, mark him inside.
Burnt & Tied Up by tilthesundies / @tllthesundies | Explicit | 6327 words
Come to the show tonight, Harry told him. Begged him. Pleaded with him.
Louis isnât doing this for him.
Act Out | by feermartsant / @boldbabe | Explicit | 6721 words
Harry leans forward so he's closer to Louis's ear, and murmurs, "If I was your husband, I'd never let you out of my sight."
Itâs ridiculous. He is his husband. Thereâs hundreds of photos, and official papers, and rings, and two babies with the last name Tomlinson Styles that prove it. But itâs also possessive, and hot and Louis doesnât know what he was expecting when Harry told him he wanted to try roleplaying a little, but so far heâs not complaining.
Kisses and Coffee Breaks by youreyesonlarry / @youreyesonlarry | Explicit | 9350 words
Midterm season was finally here and all Harry wanted to do was study, however his boyfriend, Louis, seems to have a better idea.
Tattooed Heart by KrisStylinson / @zourry-a | Explicit | 10035 words
Note: This is a sequel to this fic.
âIs that fucking real?â
Harry grins. âFeel for yourself.â
A curious hand comes to trace over Harryâs chest, sighing in awe. âHarry.â
He watches him as he does it and wishes he had a camera on him, because the sight of Louisâ dainty hand caressing the beautiful L written in intricate cursive right over Harryâs heart has to be the single greatest thing heâs ever seen.
âLike it?â he asks.
âHarry,â Louis repeats, suddenly digging his thumb into the skin as if it was going to disappear at any secondâit wasnât, something Harryâs tattoo artist made sure of. âThatâsâthatâs permanent.â
âYouâre permanent,â Harry replies, simple as can be.
Little White Lies by wickedarcher_08 / @wicked-archer | Explicit | 10450 words
Louis makes an off hand comment in an interview then comes home to find Harry has laid his old braces out on their bed.
All The Strings Attached by floweredhalo / @floweredhalo | Not Rated | 10517 words
âHe wasnât good enough for you anyway, H,â Louis says and continues eating. Harryâs still reeling from the fact that Louis is jealous. Part of him wants to prove that Louis has nothing to be jealous about, that Harry is fully Louisâ and no one elseâs. The other part wants to punish Louis for acting spoiled. But Harry canât act on either urge, he tightens his hand into a fist in his lap instead.
âNo, he wasnât. He didnât quite fit the job.â
âHarry, it wouldnât be a job to date you. It would be lovely,â Louis says, almost in a whisper. Theyâre sitting closer, Harry just now notices. Louisâ body is completely angled towards Harry and Harryâs body is not far behind.
Your Sins, My Vices by Jennifer_Kaid | Explicit | 12582 words
Louis hates soulmates. Harry has waited his whole life for one.
This Glorious Mess by theweightofmywords / @sunflowerrlouis | Mature | 14260 words
His head lolls to the side, and his eyes float open to focus on what used to be his bedside table.
Itâs empty now, devoid of the framed photo of the two of them. And Louis knows that he has no right to feel hurt, but somehow, this only confirms what this really is.
âThis is the last time,â he cries, his voice breaking both from pleasure and pain.
âI know, baby,â Harry breathes, burying his face in Louis neck.
Pleasure Over Matter by summerwine / @smrwine | Explicit | 15204 words
Harry is a bit out of his element, and an unsuspecting stranger provides him temporary relief.
Everywhere And Nowhere by 2tiedships2 / @2tiedships2 | Mature | 16547 words
Niall took a seat and said, âApparently Louisâ downstairs neighbor is a fan of giving Louis creepy gifts. Maybe I should go introduce myself and tell him that Louis actually prefers food.â
âWhat has he given you?â Liam asked.
Louis shrugged as it were no big deal. âThere was a rabbitâs foot keychain on the door a little after he left from introducing himself and there was a small teddy bear sitting by my door tonight. Obviously I canât prove itâs from him, but they seem to have his scent. I could be wrong though.â
âWow,â Liam said, looking deep in thought. âThatâs old school.â
âWhatâs old school?â Niall asked. âGiving creepy gifts?â
âIâve never known an alpha to do it, to be honest, but heâs courting you.â
Louis couldnât contain his look of disbelief directed at Liam. âHeâs courting me. Like some sort of romantic shit theyâd do in the 1800s or something?â
Tonight's Not Over (Come Over And Stay) by louistomlinsons / @microlouis | Explicit | 16690 words
Zayn doesnât say anything for a moment, pausing and worrying at his bottom lip. Finally, he asks, âHave you heard that Cox guy is coming out with a new song?â Louis freezes, fingers hovering over his keyboard where they had been typing his password. âNo, I hadnât,â Louis says truthfully. âWhere did you hear that?â âTell anyone this and Iâll kill you, but Iâd consider myself a big fan,â Zayn says. His face doesnât change in expression, completely serious as he admits this to Louis. âBig fan? Like run a blog and everything?â
I Been Feeling High When I Touch Your Body by notasawrap / @notasawrap | Not Rated | 16946 words

To ensure the survival of the country, the government opens The Breeding Program where young omegas can apply to carry an alphaâs child in exchange for benefits. Louisâ family is struggling and the BP is one of the only ways to secure a roof over their heads. Harry was drafted at the age of eighteen and spent six years of his life defending a country he doesnât recognize when he returns home. Be Mine, Dear by louisgrindsonharry | Not Rated | 20104 words
It really wasnât fair. He was the oldest of all of them. Heâs the one who dreamed about being bonded his whole life, while Liam laughed at the idea, until he met Sophia. Niall had always been indifferent, but when he met Heather six months ago, everything changed for him. He quickly went from being the only omega around two alphaâs, to the odd omega out. And it really wasnât fair, because Liam and Niall both still protected him just as much as the did before, just as much they do their new mates now, but he was still bitter about it, so heâd pity himself as much as he wanted.

Louis asks for very few things in life, and they are: to solve cases, to keep bad people from doing their bad things, to get good coffee, to go home to a spacious apartment with nobody else in it, and to manage his stupid telempathy powers with minimal interference. And now heâs stuck in a tiny cabin in a snowstorm in the middle of god-awful-nowhere with Harry Styles. Because of course he is.

After a hazy night at a frat party, Louis wakes up to blue eyes and the shocking realization that he had met his soulmate, without any sober recollection. âYou came,â Louis says, still breathless, clinging to Harry, uncaring that his sweat is getting all over Harryâs presumably clean dad shirt, or that heâs making Harry hold up all of his weight.
âOf course I came,â Harry says. He shifts, one arm curled underneath Louisâ arse, the other spreading wide in the middle of Louisâ back. âIf I ignored you every time you pissed me off we would have stopped being friends a long time ago.â
Louis already knows that, of course. It doesnât do anything to stop the pleased squirm in his belly every time Harry proves it, though. They fight like nobodyâs business, both of them too stubborn to pull their punches when theyâre arguing, and it used to get them in trouble, but they always make up.
Adrenaline makes Louis loose-lipped, and they both know it. He tightens his arms around Harryâs neck, buries his face in his hair. âI missed you,â he confesses, quiet. âDoesnât feel the same up there by myself.â
Consequences by allwaswell16 / @allwaswell16 | Explicit | 78566 words

Perspective basics. Part 2: Vanishing points.
You might have noticed that things tend to look smaller when they are far away. It's hard not to. Not only that, but different parts of the same object appear to be different sizes too.
when the front is closer to the camera than the back (which it tends to be) then the sides will become distorted. What was previously a perfect square will now become shorter on one side than the other.
We can see these things happening when using picture planes and station points too:
If we want to accurately replicate this distortion in perspective then we need to understand the behavior of parallel lines.
If you take a straight line and stretch it to a point like we did with circles in part 1 we get a flat triangle. Adding our picture plane we get a flat surface intersecting another flat surface, giving us an intersection that is a straight line.
This means that a straight line is always going to look like a straight line no matter the angle you look at it from. As long as the picture plane is flat then perspective will never curve a straight line, it will only change its length and angle.
Surfaces that are parallel to the picture plane don't experience any distortion other than size. So if we take a surface with equally spaced lines on it, those lines will remain equally spaced no matter the distance. The only thing that changes is the size of the surface and therefore the relative distance between the lines.
This means that if we have multiple, receding, equally spaced parallel lines, as they move further away from us, the distance between them will appear to shrink. But they should always remain equally spaced no matter the distance.
Alway being equally spaced means that no two lines can ever cross over each other before the other ones. So if we extend the lines into infinity then the relative distance between them will shrink until, at the same time, they all appear to vanish into a point.
This point is called a vanishing point. Most of perspective involves finding them first and then working your way back to what you want to draw
Basically, If you want to draw a wall in perspective, you simply need to draw a wall stretching all the way out into infinity, and then you remove the parts you don't need.
Depending on how many different sets of parallel lines your scenes have, you're going to need different amounts of vanishing points. Luckily, most man made objects can typically be broken down into boxes, which only have three sets of parallel lines. Each one conveniently correlating with one of our three dimensions. width, height and depth.
Having two of these sets be parallel to the picture plane means that you only need one vanishing point. This is often called one point perspective.
Here the vanishing point should ideally be on top of the focal point.
Having only one of these sets be parallel with the picture plane means that you will need two vanishing points. This is called two point perspective.
Here the vanishing points should be on opposite sides of the focal point.
Having no sets parallel with the picture plane means you will need tree vanishing points. this is called three point perspective
Here the focal point should ideally be in the orthocenter of the tree vanishing point
(Notice that lines that are parallel with the ground all have their vanishing points on the horizon. I will be talking about this more later.)
After that youâll have run out of parallel lines. But, of course, drawing shapes that are not cubes, or even just multiple cubes that are rotated differently will require more than just three. There are also a lot of advanced techniques that require you to find vanishing points for things that are not just the outlines of shapes. But those will be covered at a different time.

Master List
Chapter 14
Silent Hill: Something happened, I'll take someone over for Marie to judge
Needle: Ah, what was missing
Itâs a Nara: Don't sleep, there is an Akuma
Itâs a Nara: Who is Available?
Almost Pretty: This Akuma itself is causing disaster
Needle: There goes the national library
It's a Nara: Who is Available?
Perfect Crime: We are at the airport, we can escape to the bathroom. Just tell us, Kanté
Itâs a Nara: Perfect
Aithusa: I'm ready, Max.
Wild goat: I'll go! I'm available
Olive: You have communications, don't be ridiculous
Almost Pretty: I can't escape the Bourbon Palace for this, we are being evacuated to the basement
------
Ateliade, Jade Shield, LadyNoir and RakkÄ«gÄru are on the ruins of the national library, the last place that al Akuma ruthlessly destroyed. Observing the damage and trying to understand how he did it, the cameras failed to capture the attack, they just watched as the building collapsed on its own. A troublesome situation.
"RakkÄ«gÄru, use the Lucky Charm."
Kagami obeys immediately, the Lucky Charm delivers a candle similar to the ones she has placed in the meditation room. The four heroes look at the object with curiosity, its function is totally unknown to them, but somehow they understand that what they need at the moment is in the MT.
"We need a more thorough evaluation. Mures?"
"Yes, LadyNoir?"
"Come here, we will use the mouse to try to identify your abilities from all possible angles. "
"Ok."
"Maybe that's what the Lucky Charm was referring to." Ateliade offers her opinion on this, looking at the candle. After all, Marc is on the MT, but neither Kagami nor Marinette feel that is the case. Surely they will need the specific abilities of some Kwami that is not being used, their instincts are screaming at them.
Before long, Mures appears in all his nervous figure. It's the first time that he will go out into the field like the mouse, he's more used to his vigilante suit, but he's confident that everything will turn out well.
"Let's follow the Akuma."
At Jade Shield's words, the five heroes move to follow the Akuma's trail of destruction. When they see the purple Dolphin flying over The Turkish Consulate General and they are suddenly aware that they are now in District XVII where most Embassies and Consulates are. That could be a problem if it reaches international ears, endangering citizens of other countries. They can already hear Chloe yelling at them for speeding up, they don't want anyone from outside sticking their noses into something they don't understand.
"Multitude. "Marc activates its power and divides himself into five copies of himself, remaining in a size similar to that of a child. Each duplicate goes in different directions, each hero follows a different one while the main one remains in place to serve as backup.
Marc can see from their different perspectives the way power works, there is no way they can get closer without perishing like buildings. The others don't fully understand him, but he does.
The Akuma seems to detonate its powers through a form of echo location, similar to what bats do, only instead of just directing it around the place, it also causes perfectly directed destruction, if they get close they will be hit and probably killed. It's inconspicuous from the directions you see, but it's enough.
If there was ever any doubt that the new villain wanted them dead, this new Akuma victim is proof that this is the case.
"We need one of two, someone who can demonstrate directly in front of the Akuma or someone in armor to withstand the impact of the echo location."
"Is that?"
"It's the closest I could discern."
"We need Tunin." Kagami suggests, it's better not to trust again and the Dragon's abilities are easily used over long distances, they wouldn't even be exposing the child.
"YesâŠ"
"It's done. Equuleus, bring Tunin to the field. âFelix smiles, sure Damian will be ecstatic with the news. Since the first attack Akuma has wanted to leave and although there have only been two before that, they had not wanted to risk it yet.
Quickly, the boy appears next to LadyNoir and when he sees his mother, he feels guilty. Running away to find Constantine doesn't count as betraying her trust, does it? He may think that even she should have considered it, although perhaps what should bothers her is that he blackmailed Plagg.
"Something happens?"Marinette asks her little boy, who doesn't seem fully prepared, although his amber eyes seem to reflect something else.
"No mother. What should I do?"
"Can you simulate a storm, baby dragon?" Ateliade questions, if they can confuse the echo location (as Mures calls it) she can release her power and allow them to attack to obtain the Akumatized item, although it cannot be seen which one. Guessing is not much fun.

"Yes, two of the abilities are combined. It's harder, but if I just have to do that, it'll be fine.âHe says with conviction.
Jade Shield moves to take people out of the Akuma's path, who cannot fully escape. RakkÄ«gÄru unites to help, as long as they are not sure that their little plan works, they should avoid casualties as best they can.
Damian draws his sword and begins to move in parallel with the Akuma, at a good distance while concentrating on the two abilities he wants to activate at the same time. He can do it only because he's stubborn and his mother was helping him with every step, he wanted to be able to be a real help to fight alongside miraculous adult users and for that he needed to make an effort. As he tries to muster his energies for that, he better understands why his mother insisted so much that not yet, but done or not, it's his time.
"Tunin! Now or never."
He growls at Ateliade's words, but activates his powers.
"Dragon of Air and Lightning. "
Damian disappears to make way for a thick black cloud of storm that spreads around the Akuma, the lightning moves through the clouds and attacks the Violet Dolphin, which he barely dodges due to the interferences that the sound makes in his abilities... In addition to the poor vision that it has is frustrated by the intense light intervals that the rushing rays generate.
It really is a storm.
-----
Bruce Wayne is Batman
I can jump from eighth floor and survive: Paris has strange creatures.
Hell rejected me: What kind of strange creatures? Metas?
I can jump from eight floor and survive: No... it's a bat-winged dolphin that destroys everything in its path. And there are the heroes they mentioned!
I'll rest when I die: Is it real?
I can read your mind with a single glance: Are they the heroes and not the vigilantes?
I can ump from eight floor and survive: Yup, it's the heroes. Although they are still while talking.
Iâm not Batman: I want a report.
I'll rest when I die: Your interest in our safety is flattering
-----
"Oh God! The boy just turned into a storm! How?! Where's the point in all of this?!"Dick almost has the jaw in the ground when seeing how the hero boy vanishes in a black cloud that begins to flash and cover the strange creature.
Everything is being televised with drones, according to the presenter. It also features the new hero, who is registered as part of the Team.
"Tunin is the current owner of the Miraculous Dragon, it was entered into the official register two months ago. His abilities are much more polished than previous Miraculous user Ryukko, demonstrating much more training. Despite his young age in relation to other heroes, we can be sure that he's trustworthy. He has already demonstrated this by displaying new skills and a great mastery of his powers. "
Tim watches with too worrying ease, still holding his cup of coffee, but he seems to pay little attention to what the newscaster has said.
He doesn't blame him, the situation seems to come out of a dream, with the same little sense.
He doesn't lose attention to what happens, they are far enough so that what happens is only barely visible through the window, but the view from the drone is very accurate. Soon another hero, the presenter calls her Ateliade, activates another power and a dragon stuffed toy falls into her hands, she and LadyNoir (the leader, according to what they said) put themselves in position taking advantage of the fact that the Akuma is too busy dealing with the cloud storm.
"It seems we managed to capture RakkÄ«gÄru and Jade Shield as well, helping civilians to get out of the Akuma's path." Indeed, the two heroes move through the streets picking up people from the probable routes of the Giant Dolphin. "Mures remains on the sidelines, he seems to be fulfilling the role of watchman. Like Tunin, it's his first appearance. He has been registered as an official part of the team for six years, he's the second user of the Miraculous Mouse, after Multimouse with a single appearance ten years ago. "
Dick is surprised to learn that information, ten years ago? Since when is Paris dealing with this villain? Maybe he should go to the prosecution and the KanTech offices to find out the information required to know the matter.
"Dick..."
"Hmm?"
"Am I dreaming?"
"No."
"I'll leave the caffeine." Tim puts the cup on the table in front of him and takes his computer to start investigating, having his location in Paris, the information about the Akuma begin to appear. "Eleven years ago Hawkmoth first appeared and with him two heroes: Ladybug and Chat Noir. As time went by more heroes appeared and rotated, before Gabriel Agreste was arrested for being Hawkmoth, Paris was left alone with three heroes: Ladybug, Chat Noir and Vulpes. Chat Noir turned out to be the son of the villain, who was devastated and gave up being a hero... "
"What?" Dick stops watching television, missing the exact moment the Akuma goes crazy and its echo location loses the destructive effect because he can't focus enough for it.
"This is a summary of what happened seven years ago. The Butterfly Miraculous was stolen by the killer of Nathalie Sancour, the previous user of the Peacock. That Miraculous returned to the hands of Ladybug... Graham de Vanely spearheaded the lawsuit against Gabriel Agreste and Adrien was forced to marry Lila Rossi to keep his mother alive, as the heroes investigate a cure for the magical coma..."
"How did they manage to hide ALL THAT from the world?"
"Magic." Tim growls, that's the main reason, then with the joint efforts of different government bodies they became self-sufficient in it, making laws that allowed Parisian heroes and vigilantes to run freely making them an official identity within the country, but without being linked to it. How did it evolve to that point? Not even in the United States, with the acceptance of the heroes in the country, have they managed to do something like this... Will the French be more intelligent or are they much more paranoid? Because there is a complete security protocol so that the information does not come out.
They are so in jail just for mentioning all that to their family.
"We can't give that report to B... or come out as Robin and Nightwing."
"Should we register?" "Tim nods, but as far as he knows, only the MT can register heroes or vigilantes and for that they would need to contact them and give a good excuse for their visit." Everything is very well detailed, the theme of the vigilantes is not super secret like heroes. It's illegal to mention them on social networks outside the jurisdiction of France and word of mouth would not be credible because there is no information available. "
"Rakkigaru launches the cure!" The television distracts them again and they are surprised, again, to see how all the damage begins to repair itself and return to its original state.
"W-What
"It's one of the Miraculous Ladybug powers... it's one of the few skills that are publicly known and accurately described. The rest appear as: doubtful or not precise. "
"Do you think they are handling it well?"
"Yes... according to what Felix Graham de Vanely said, half of the evidence he presented was offered by the heroes of Paris and was, precisely, the most incriminating. Seven years have passed and they have the support of the MT, which have cleaned up the country's organized crime very well and have followed several very difficult cases that they have managed to manage... They have a more brilliant list of achievements than ours. You know, the Joker escaping Arkham every month is a stain on our record. âTim laughs a little when he says it. He would like to know their methods, although he suspects that they must have a network of informants, something that they have not used much because in Gotham it's unlikely to find trustworthy people, only Jason got several informants, but they have not reached more than that.
"Then let's just say hello."
"And let's seek to join that information network."
Tim sets that goal, to be part of that vigilant circle to which the MT belongs.

The Shadow (Batkid!Reader x Bucky Barnes)
Requested by Anonymous for #19 - Bucky Barnes x Batkid!Reader where after escaping Hydra, Bucky meets the Batfam who help him recover, and he falls in love with Bruceâs eldest son.
Warning - very long length! - Iâd be willing to do sequels if anyone has ideas!
âWatch out, everyone. I see something.â you say over comms. Barbaraâs hacked you into the CCTV system all over Gotham, so it takes only a second for you to find a better angle. âOh, no.â
âNo? Whatâs the problem, Brother Eye?â your father asks.
Brother Eye was your codename, like Barbara was Oracle.
âItâs the Winter Soldier. I had heard he escaped the Avengers in Germany, but...â
Bruce sighs. The SHIELD and the Avengers have been a thorn in the side of the Justice League for quite a few years now, their careless actions turning the public against metahumans and superheroes in general.
âHeâs dangerous. Prepare to engage.â Damian says, but you stop them.
âNo. Somethingâs different.â
You can hear Damian rolling his eyes. âBrother, there is nothing different. The Winter Soldier is here in Gotham.â
As loathe as you are to argue with Damian (he just started calling you Brother, after all), you point out that he hasnât attacked yet.
âOracle, are you thinking what Iâm thinking?â you ask.
Barbaraâs already hacking and pulling up footage of the interrogation of Bucky Barnes in Vienna, where a dark-haired man uses Russian phrases to turn him into the Soldier. Sheâs also run facial recognition and determined the photo used by the authorities is of someone wearing a face-altering mask.
âIt would appear, Master Bruce, that Sergeant Barnes was being framed, likely to have him collected at the facility so this man could retrieve the Winter Soldier.â Alfred says dryly, uploading the evidence to Bruceâs cowl.
For his own good, it is decided that you will all bring him in.
Bruce allows you to do the talking through comms. After all, youâre the best with people, except for Alfred and maybe Dick.
âSergeant Barnes? James Buchanan Barnes?â
The Soldier doesnât look at the source of your voice, but instead at the nearest camera, as if he can see you through it the way you see him.
âWho are you?â
âMy name is Y/N Wayne. I want to help you. I know that you are not to blame for the U.N. If you go with Batman, he can protect you and bring you to a safer location.â
âWhy should I trust you?â he asks. Itâs a fair question, and you pause before answering. You decide to be brutally honest.
âYou shouldnât, yet. I could be lying about everything. All I can give you is my word that I have the ability and desire to help you.â
â...Why?â
âBecause thatâs what I do.â
The Soldier allows Batman to lead him to the Batmobile
âHe your boss?â he asks Bruce.
Bruce chuckles. âMy son. My oldest.â
âThis is a... family business, then?â
Bruce nods. âYes it is.
Upon reaching the Batcave, the Soldierâs eyes come to rest on you. You walk up to him, analyzing his every move as has come to be your habit. âHello, Sergeant Barnes.â
âBucky. My name is Bucky.âÂ
You and your father decide together to house Bucky in the Manor for the time being, while Batman brings the evidence you and Barbara collected and shows it to the Justice League
Just take a minute to bask in the glory of solving in two minutes what it took the Avengers and global police several days to even consider.
You have to wrangle Damian and Jason away from him most of the time, because they keep asking him for his top ten ways to kill someone, and itâs starting to make him uncomfortable. Surprisingly, Damian is the first to get better, and introduces Bucky to his many animals, almost like the child he is.
âThis is Titus. Titus, say hello to Barnes.â
âWOOF.â
âHeya, pal.â *pets Titus*
*puts down sword*Â âGood. You have passed the test. Titus likes you.â
Dick is the best at helping Bucky recover his old memories, simply because itâs so easy to talk to him that Bucky responds without thinking and remembers a whole year of his old life.
Tim helps remind Bucky of the past by doing extensive research.
Of course, it isnât long before Bucky asks to join the Batfam on patrol, wanting to help.
Bruce is surprisingly welcoming, and has you and Lucius Fox manufacture a new arm for Bucky to replace his Hydra one. Itâs in matte black, and Bucky likes it because it looks almost as if heâs wearing a skintight sleeve and glove.
Jason helps Bucky train, because Bucky hasnât really had combat training over the years, just, well, âpunch and repeat.â
Bucky doesnât wear a cape, but he gets a domino mask and tacks on a Bat-symbol to his mechanical arm.
He becomes known as âthe Shadowâ by Gotham criminals because unlike the Bat, he wonât talk. Heâll just appear, beat them up, and vanish again.
But Buckyâs favorite person to spend time with is you. Mostly because you make him feel like a living, breathing person, and not a convalescent or a living diorama.Â
Youâll ask him lots of questions about his personal likes and dislikes, and heâll be completely stunned.
But heâll come up to you a few days later and answer, after youâve already forgotten that you asked.
âLemonade.â
âExcuse me?â
âYou... you asked me what my favorite drink was. Itâs lemonade.â
You always smile at him proudly and thank him. Heâs not sure why, but it makes him feel like heâs glowing from the inside.
Bucky doesnât know exactly when he fell for you.
Maybe it was seeing how protective you were of your family. And the way you immediately became protective over him. Despite the fact that heâs the assassin and youâre not a fighter, he feels safe under your watch.
Maybe it was when you, Dick, and Bruce took him shopping for new clothes to celebrate his newfound freedom after the Justice League exonerated him. It was decided that he stay at Wayne Manor (because, of course, the Waynes were the main sponsors of the League), and you found him clothes that were practical and comfortable.
Maybe it was seeing your tactical brilliance. He sees how you and Bruce work together on the fly to build impenetrable combat strategies. Bucky learns to follow the othersâ example and unhesitatingly obey when you bark a direction, even when it seems impractical.
Maybe it was when you invited him to join in on the family night movie watching session. You had fallen asleep, slowly drooping over until you were cuddled against him. He stiffened in surprise, but heâd be lying if he said he didnât enjoy how comfortable you were with him.Â
But by the time he came to seek you out in the Manor, he was gone.
âY/N?â
You were correcting one of Damianâs school essays, or rather, censoring it of violent content. Leave Damian to go into detail about battle wounds in a essay on the American Civil War.
âHmm?â
âUhhh... I was hopinâ maybe I could talk to you.â
You look up and notice heâs dressed in a nice suit. His hairâs slicked back, and he looks so nervous.
âSure, Buck. Whatâs up?â
He holds out his hand to you. âI was wonderinâ maybe if I could take you on a date.â
âReally?â
âYeah. Uh, although, you might have to be a little patient with me. I havenât taken anyone out in... a while.â
You take his hand. âIâd like that. A lot.â
He takes you out to an old restaurant about an hour away in New York, which is still around because it advertises itself as âCaptain Americaâs Favorite Dinerâ and has since the end of World War II. As a bonus, Bucky gets to eat free there.
You have a classic meal of burgers and milkshakes in your fancy suits, and then Bucky asks you to dance with him to the tune of old 40âČs hits.Â
Of course, thereâs tabloid news about it, but it doesnât matter. Because everyone sees that Buckyâs happy with you, and youâre happy with him.
So when Bruce finds you two passed out on the couch after a night of dance and laughter, he decides to reserve his âif you ever hurt my sonâ spiel for another day. Tomorrow, perhaps. He simply takes a picture on his phone to send to Alfred and walks away.

Kh Oc Week Day 7
Day 7~ Summerâs End
@khoc-week
Ah, stop giving me light and cheery stuff I only know how to write angst. Jokes aside, I guess this is another thing I never had time to think about. The characters were always in life or death situations and had wars looming over them. But I think I have a good idea.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Laughter rang through the air joining the chorus of the seagulls and crashing waves. Splashing from the party members in the water accented the laughs, a shriek here and there as someone was hit unexpectedly with the cold ocean water. Annora chuckled watching as Zia shoved Kariya into the water after he had dared to splash her.
She had just begun to raise her camera when someone snatched it from her hands.
âOh no, none of your stalking,â Skuld said, holding the camera above Annoraâs head. Annora turned to the dark-haired girl with a dead pan expression. She crossed her arms, leaning on her right leg.
âItâs not stalking,â Annora said calmly. âGive me back my camera.â
âNo,â Skuld said, turning away as she held the camera close to her chest. âYouâve done nothing but take pictures since we got here. Poor way to spend a day at the beach if you ask me.â
âWell, I didnât so hand it over,â Annora said, holding her hand out to Skuld. Skuld puffed up her cheeks turning so she faced away from Annora entirely. Without a word she started walking away, camera still tightly held in her hands. âSkuld, thatâs not funny. Thatâs expensive.â
Annora followed Skuld, keeping up as best she could while walking on the shifting sand. It was already in her boots. She really should have taken them off when everyone else had taken off their own shoes. The sand was rubbing against her foot, before long she swore it was going to rub her feet raw.
âThen you shouldnât have brought it,â Skuld said, easily keeping ahead of Annora. She had been the one to suggest they all come to the beach. Annora suspected she had been here many more times. That meant she had the advantage of knowing the territory well.
âSkuld, if you break my camera I will end you,â Annora hissed. Skuld only laughed, still walking at her brisk pace.
Annora grumbled under her breath, glancing to the beach around her. Her party was scattered across the beach, making their own small groups to cause chaos with. Zia was still standing in the water with Kariya, which was surprising. But it seemed that he was being kept in check by Raito, who was clapping him on the back. Ven was kneeling on the sand with Kirai and Anri, he and Anri were building a sandcastle from the looks of it, with Kirai only watching. Despite his bright smile Annora couldnât help but notice he looked too tired. Saki was with Kohaku, playing volleyball dangerously close to the sandcastle group. She couldnât seem to find Jax, or the twins anywhere.
âSee, youâre missing a lot of fun,â Skuld said, catching sight of where Annoraâs attention was. Annora stopped, glaring back at Skuld again.
âIâm not missing it,â Annora said. âIâm trying to capture it.â
âYou canât make everything last forever,â Skuld said, stopping herself and turning to face Annora. âLive in the now. Isnât that your whole angle? How you got this entire party together?â
Annora sighed, nodding slowly. It wasnât wrong. She had been the one who called for the other wielders to stop worrying about what was going to come tomorrow and focus on the moment. But it was hard to follow her own advice sometimes. She didnât want to lose how happy she was in the moment. When everyone was together, just laughing. Even when they were out Heartless hunting it was still fun.
âThat doesnât change that I want my camera back,â Annora said. âIâll put it away for a half hour, I just donât want you to break it.â
âAn hour,â Skuld said. Annora huffed, her shoulders slumping.
âFine, an hour,â she agreed. Skuld smiled brightly, handing off the camera again. Annora grumbled under her breath, trudging through the sand back to their belongings to put the camera back into its case. Skuld was on her heels, probably making sure she kept her word.
âWhere do you think those three are?â Skuld asked suddenly.
âIâm hoping not working again,â Annora said, not bothering to ask who she was asking about. It really could only be the twins and Jax. After all they had vanished.
âWeâre here.â Annora glanced up at the voice, seeing the strawberry blonde Vulpes she had grown rather fond of. She smiled, holding out an ice-cream bar to Annora. To her left was her brother, holding a bag that suggested they had taken it upon themselves to treat the entire party.
âThanks Kami,â Annora said, taking the ice-cream. âJax not with you?â
âWe went to a moogle shop,â Takiko said, rolling his eyes. âJax is the last person I would bring with us.â
âI think it would be funny,â Kamiko said, giggling slightly. Her brother shot her a glare, but it faded quickly at her bright smile. âBut, no. He was not with us. Probably hiding out of the sunlight. He looks more out of place here than you do.â
âWhat part of me looks out of place?â Annora demanded, placing a hand on her hip.
âWell,â Skuld said, taking a step back. âYou are kinda glowing.â
âYouâre wearing all black,â Kamiko added, Skuld nodding in agreement. Annora frowned looking down at herself. She could practically feel the sunburns she was going to have on her pale arms. The fabric she had tied around her waist fell down one side, as black as the bathing suit she wore.
âThose who donât wear black in the summer are weak,â Annora said without hesitation, looking up again. Takiko snorted, shaking his head.
âWhile youâre right, me and Kami are going to hand out the rest of these before they melt,â he said, tugging his sistersâ arm. She smiled brightly and waved before letting Takiko guide her away. Annora watched for a moment as the pair handed out ice-cream.
âLetâs find Jax, then we can get the whole party to play a game or something,â Skuld suggested, tugging Annoraâs arm to get her attention again. Annora nodded in agreement, though she wasnât sure she was going to like what Skuld came up with.
They found Jax at the edge of the tree line, hiding in the shade. He had a book open in his lap, his eyes slowly moving over the pages. His eyebrows were furrowed together with concentration and his lips moved as he tried to work out the words.
âOh no, not again,â Skuld said. Annora sighed heavily, not having time to warn Jax before Skuld snatched the book away from him. He blinked a few times, staring at his lap blankly. Slowly he looked up, eyebrow raised. âI already told her no camera so you are not allowed to have your book. We are here to have fun!â
âI was having fun?â Jax said, though it sounded like a question. Annora was certain it was only because of Skuldâs actions.
âGood, now you can have fun with us too,â Skuld said, smiling as she turned and walked off. Jax and Annora sighed together. Jax slowly got to his feet and followed Skuld. Annora walked beside him, rejoining the party as Skuld drew everyoneâs attention.
âAlright! Weâre playing games now! Whoâs got an idea?â she asked.
A chorus of voices answered her. Annora sighed, knowing it was going to be a very long afternoon.
The party played games together for as long as the sun was in the sky. From sandcastle building contests, which Kohaku was a master of, to scavenger hunts that went well until Ven had gotten too distracted by pretty shells he dragged everyone else into admiring them too. Kariya somehow ended up buried in the sand, and no one was sure how that happened. Stones were skipped, though the waves made it clear they wouldnât get far with that. Races were ran, and frustration filled them as no one could get close to the twins.
Annora kept her word. But after an hour she was back to taking pictures, though she handed off the camera between the party members to let them pick the pictures they wanted. Looking back on them Annora laughed. Never had she imagined they would capture the facial expressions they did. At some point Jax had retreated away from the party, joined by two people Annora had never met. A blonde boy with green eyes with tanned skin that was covered in freckles and a red-haired girl with bright blue eyes. Whoever they were Jax seemed to know them well. Before long the girl joined in the games, dragging the two boys behind her. Something about her voice was familiar, Annora was sure she knew it. But she brushed it off, choosing instead to focus on the smiles she found on her friends faces.
As night came the party sat together on the sand, looking at the sky as stars blinked into view one by one. Annora reclined back with Skuld to one side, and Ven on the other, leaning his head on her shoulder as he looked up at the sky.
Annora glanced around her, searching out each member of her party. Jax was the farthest back, sitting with the two she didnât know. The redhead caught her eye and winked playfully before looking up at the stars with Jax and the blonde. Not far from them, Takiko was laying with his head in his sistersâ lap, her hand running through his hair as she looked at the stars as well. Kariya, Zia, Raito, and Kohaku were circled together, talking in hushed voices. Anri and Saki were on their backs with Kirai, listening to the small blue-haired girl point out different constellations.
âLook! A shooting star!â Ven said excitedly, pointing up at the stars. Annora looked up quickly. As she looked up the sky filled with streaks of light.
âMeteor shower,â Jax said calmly, his voice easily carrying on the still night air.
âGood, enough wishes for everyone,â Kamiko said brightly. Murmurs of assent spread through the group. Annora chuckled, letting her eyes fall closed as she let her wish come to mind.
I wish this never has to end.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you stuck with this until the end thank you a ton! This experience was so much fun, just like it was last year. I loved being able to see everyone elseâs characters and read everything they had to say about them. Theyâre all so creative and wonderful and amazing and I just donât have words for how awesome they all are. And I will admit being able to gush about my own characters is a plus, and I would gladly do it forever. Thanks to the amazing mods for putting this together and working so hard to share everyoneâs work.
If you all stuck this far and a re still interested in Annora and Jax, you can find their story here and here. Admittedly, the storyâs a little old and with recent events itâs looking at a rewrite one day, but for now itâs a starting point.
