Radblr hot take here but I believe that men are capable of changing to be better. To say that they are incapable of being good is saying that they aren’t fully responsible for what they do because they aren’t capable of being better.
No. They can be better. And they are morally worse and more corrupt for it. Men can choose to fight the patriarchy and treat their female counterparts with respect and dignity. But they choose not to, because they can reap the same or more societal benefits by being misogynistic.
Baby boys aren’t born misogynistic. Sure, they may be born with whatever male hormonal differences do, but that isn’t even 1% of the reason why they grow up to be misogynists.
As they grow up they learn that misogyny is rewarded. As they grow up they are exposed to porn which they choose to use as a sexual role model. As they grow up they watch their parents model a hierarchal power dynamic. They see all of this, and they like it. They choose it for themselves.
I think that men can change for the better. People here hear this and say “you can’t teach them” or “coddling them won’t do shit” and I agree. What women need to do is stop rewarding and enabling their behavior.
We need to free women from human trafficking and exploitation, and we also need to convince women who make porn of their own free will to stop. We need to punish the men who make it. We need to help women out of their abusive marriages, and we also need to convince women who are in relationships with even slightly misogynistic men to end them. We need to have zero tolerance for casual misogyny. We need to start shunning men who are misogynists. We need to hold accountable women who are enabling the men in their lives to hurt other women. Shun men who watch porn. Shun men who say slurs. Stop having their children.
And for the men sympathetic to our cause, we need to convince them to use their privilege as men to further feminist goals. We need them to vote for women’s rights. We need them to intervene during “locker room” misogynistic talk when women aren’t around. We need them to break up the male solidarity around misogyny in a way only they can do.
But we can’t do this as individuals. Strength comes in numbers. Women do face societal consequences for standing up to misogyny. Other women need to defend her and provide for her needs. And in order to do this we need to educate ourselves. Make money. Be independent of men. Become doctors, lawyers, teachers. We need to do everything we can to support women in places where they cannot do these things.
If we can do all of this, men will change. Maybe not the men who are already set in their ways. But those growing up will see that misogyny does not reward them in life. They will not see porn. They will not see their mothers submitting to their fathers and they will not see women submitting to men. And they will choose to treat women as human beings. Because they can.
Radical feminism is not a doomerist movement. I have a future in mind. I hope you do too.

YinWar Hidden Gems Sorrows
It took me a bit to get to this because . . .
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Backstory
Tumblr media
War struggled (struggles?) with depression.
Tumblr media
This interaction was filmed in 2021 for Yin's YouTube channel. War was explaining that he was struggling with depression because of the pandemic, lack of work, and, overall, feeling worthless. He was distant and withdrawn, but Yin checked in on him.
Tumblr media
Yin commented that he struggled with figuring out what to do because he was worried that he was depending too much on War (like needing him too much and as a working relationship since they are a branded pair), and the way he deals with *feelings* is by throwing himself into work, but he noticed that was stressing War out more.
Tumblr media
So even though he noticed War was growing more distant, he didn't want to flat out tell War he needed him in case it caused War even more stress.
Tumblr media
And it boiled down to War, without work, didn't feel valuable, in life or his working relationship with Yin, but that caused him to not work at all, and he thought Yin would be better without him.
Tumblr media
Yin, realizing how rough the conversation was for War, didn't want to continue to focus on it.
Tumblr media
So that's why he said he wouldn't comfort him so they could move on because if he did, War would keep crying.
Tumblr media
And that brings me back to the Aran x Tattoo scene.
Tumblr media
I believe that all the guys are hiding parts of themselves in Jack and Joker, and if so, I read this scene not as Tattoo not wanting to deal with Aran's emotions, but as Tattoo not wanting to see Aran in pain over something he shouldn't be taking the blame for and clearly wasn't ready to discuss.
Tumblr media
Aran is carrying a lot of guilt for not being the son his father wanted and missing his dad, so even though he shouldn't feel guilty,
Tumblr media
He does.
Tumblr media
And I think that's something Tattoo, a fictional character, and Yin, a real person, didn't want the other person to experience.
Tumblr media
Which aligns with what Perth Nakhun just mentioned on his YouTube channel about branded pairs and the pressure of being responsible for another person's career.
Tumblr media
So, yeah. That's it. That's the hidden gem sorrow.
Tumblr media
Basically, shit's rough, but people shouldn't feel worse for things they can't control.

And it didn't.
Summary: with the scars left by civil conflict, of broken relationships and shattered bridges the years passed, and she was finally caught up with the consequences of what she did.
Cw: NO CAITVI, angst for Caitlyn, post arcane 2 and my soft imaginings, Vi x Reader.
✄ — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —
Caitlyn had lost herself and neither time, nor regret could bring back the people she lost what was important to; I saw the one she pushed away so many times because of that stupid instinct to see her down for being from Zaun who contaminated and infected her, Jayce who even though I told her everything was resolved I still saw that resentment in her eyes and did not blame, her father still loved her and was there for her but in his eyes at times there was a disappointment so palpable that it hurt to see her because she had destroyed what her mother worked so hard for costing lives in Zaun. She knew that her owner and suffering was not justification, it would never be, just as she knew that she had made many decisions that were wrong and even today, at 35 years old, they still haunt her, stalking her in every free moment to think, in every corner of her psyche and heart, it is a curse that would never leave her and she accepted it, she let the remorse bite her skin, scratch her bones fragmenting them until it reached the organs underneath and stay there forever. Not that all Zaunites' looks at her were better or let her forget what she had done in the past, they all looked at her with a well-hidden and civilized rancor, which, in contrast to what happened years ago showed that Zaunites were not animals.
"It's in your blood, it will always be in your blood!"
These are words that still to this day follow her relentlessly, spoken to a woman who stood by her side unflinchingly, daring to wear the uniform of the very beings who murdered her parents, who oppressed her for years and who were part of Zaun's continuing misfortune. Vi wore the uniform and became an enforcer for her, and a with it at that moment, after a shared kiss hurt her and it was not the blow that hurt the most, but hearing Vi cry at the bottom of the well and left her without looking back, at that moment she never regretted it and thought she deserved it for not letting Vi go, she herself pushed her away. Now, as Sheriff with Piltover restored and Zaun in better condition after joining forces to drive away Noxus and his threat, she is surprisingly alone. She had managed to catch Jinx and served her sentence, helped restore Piltover as part of that sentence but even with everything Jinx was never left alone but was supported by all of Zaun and, to her own selfish pain; For Vi, Vi was in the process of Jinx's improvement and her mental treatment, when she was imprisoned and released by herself, she watched as Vi received her and although there was an uncomfortable air Vi saw her with a filial love and bright, shy accompanied by Ekko, Sevika, Isha and another person who did not hesitate to embrace Jinx. Even Jinx even with all the crimes on her list, she had so many people surrounding her and she on the other end just and Sheriff was alone, she knew it was her own fault.
There was a sea of guilt that was always at her feet, threatening on her worst days with a huge swell, monstrous waves that threatened to swallow her whole and sometimes she wished they would but, it would be selfish not to bear the consequences of her actions.
The council had been renewed for the sake of progress since they all had such archaic and cruel ideas by the next leaders of those same houses who were young, people who saw beyond prejudices and painted a difference, a before and an after. A renewed council, like Piltover, with Jayce and Mel at the head, but there were two representatives of Zaun who never showed up leaving two chairs together empty in their name. They had all changed, Piltover finally after seeing how hundreds of Zaunites risked themselves to drive Noxus away without caring about coming back alive showed them how much damage they inflicted on their twin city.
Damage she contributed to, added to, and how it tainted her mother's contribution so that the Zaunites could breathe.
She hated herself but dared not ask for forgiveness, because she did not deserve it and she knew it.
She lives each day mechanically in the Enforcers base office, and with documentation up to her neck, in a cold and monotonous rhythm until that day came, a day where Loris was coming to visit her as she had not agreed to stay in the Enforcers corps with the others but rather, was sentinel in Zaun an organization created by two people in Zaun along with other creations that Zaun did not have before.
"Wow, you're still dating the paperwork Sheriff?" questions Loris, walking into the office with a lazy smile looking at the paperwork by the pile.
"Let's just say they're nice dates" replies Caitlyn, inviting him to sit down, it's the little visits and sincere interactions he has that let him see that he kept too good people away from his surroundings because even Seb kept her at a distance, Maddie walked away from her after he had used her to forget Vi; spoiler he never could, Vi as soon as the conflict ended and the trials came she didn't return to Piltover, so Loris was the only one who still maintained some pleasant air between the two "Something going on? You usually come over on Fridays when I go out for a drink together."
Caitlyn looks at her former partner and notices it, a nervous uneasiness almost shy about how she keeps herself hidden and how Loris tries to keep the air light, jovial and pleasant. Loris was a very short time active part of the Enforcerd but damn but he was a good element and the Sentinels would take a good element. She watches silently as her former partner takes a seat, but it never goes unnoticed the conflicted eyes of the man in front of her and she honestly can't blame him as Loris is one of Vi's best friends and continuing to talk to her feels like some sort of betrayal, or so Caitlyn assumes.
"Well, I'm not wasting your time with my humble visit Sheriff" she concedes, lightening the mood and tension, pulling out a simple envelope sealed with wax and a unique flower that only grows in Zaun "Consider coming, she asked me to deliver it to you."
Caitlyn with that, spends the rest of the day dreading opening the letter leaving it on her office bookshelf as if it has the toxic and poisonous in it, so at the end of her day with the evening light streaming in through the glass she plucks up her courage. She sits up from her chair and takes the letter, it is made of a soft and in plain sight recycled paper but it has a fresh floral scent, with some fear creeping up her joints she opens it using the letter opener seeing how the black wax falls on her desk next to the small single flower of Zaun that she takes and keeps it, inside the envelope is a paper folded in three and when she opens it something stirs in her gut with such force that she feels her organs pushed into her bones and the physical exterior of her body, she restrains herself and swallows the bile to start reading, though she knows that doomed her because she suspects it is.
† Violet and [R] †
Just reading that line generated an immense, monumental dismay in him, had he stopped loving Vi? She didn't want to know the answer because it would hurt, because when she pushed Vi away, making her feel guilty for everything, guilty for not being able to stop loving her sister in spite of everything, what was she thinking back then? Making her choose implicitly only served to further establish the imbalance and mistrust in whatever it was they had, and lo and behold the consequences years of loneliness and minimal, if any interactions with Vi that were for matters merely concerning both cities. At the very thought, the very image of it tightens her chest.
Vi was getting married and he was inviting her to his wedding, with a +1.
She dropped into her chair, tossing the pretty invitation on the desk before scrunching up her face, stressed, hurt, regretful and with an amalgam of feelings of self-pity and cruelty towards herself for the past, for the hatred her being since she was a child had harbored towards Zaunitas which only incubated until it exploded that fateful day where she took it out on Vi, took it out on a woman who knew how to read her better than she did herself and prevented her from doing something she would regret more. He knew he could not give, if he would fail as Vi said but his pain did not allow him to see, understand, or comprehend. His hands tremble running it over his face in an attempt to get rid of that mutilating feeling in his chest, and he feels the pain climb up his bones, Vi was going to marry someone and by name it's a woman; [R]. A short, concrete text, a wedding which will be held in the newly opened temple of Janna, signed below in sweet, flowing calligraphy in Violet's name, next to another straighter, linear calligraphy signing with [R]. They sure did that cute thing of writing each other's name would Vi love her? Would that unknown woman love Vi? How long had they been in a relationship? Did they love each other? Why was Vi inviting her?
She doesn't want to go.

were you never saying that you’re not like other girls because you were told from birth that girlhood is a loss of personhood? were you not told that girls are stupid?
were you not born to a father who loved you. but still hated women. were you not born to a father who decided he would raise his daughter to become what he would never want another woman to be? independent?
were you not born to a mother who despite being in a heterosexual relationship and birthing children told you to be strong? to be independent?
if your parents sucked did you not find refuge in media which changed your life?
it is only a matter of sheer chance that you became a radical feminist and the woman your scorn did not.
what happens around you radicalises you. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF CHANCE THAT YOU HAD THE CAPACITY TO ANALYSE AND QUESTION WHAT HAPPENS AROUND YOU TO THE EXTENT THAT YOU FOUND THE SPACE TO RADICALISE YOURSELF.
my heart goes out to all women who suffer the most under patriarchy and can do little to safeguard themselves. my heart goes out to all women.
it is a matter of pure chance that she is not me and i am not her.
SMART WOMEN ARE NOT AN EXCEPTION. WOMEN WHO THINK ARE NOT AN EXCEPTION.
some of you in rad fem spaces genuinely believe you’re better than other women because you’re a feminist.
i cannot believe i see posts literally saying “women as a whole are stupid” “i don’t feel sympathy for het victims of male domestic violence” “i hate men more than i love women” from women who consider themselves feminists.
i will be glad to be the one to break it to these people: you are not smarter or better than other women.
smart women are not a rare exception. capable women are not a rare exception.

Men have degraded and oppressed women for all of recorded history, and the moment women express righteous anger and walk away from them in disgust as a 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘦, the men double-down and say, "Well since you hate us anyway, we're going to treat you even worse than before."
It's like that friend you lend money to, and when you remind them of their promise to repay you, they accuse you of having an attitude and use that as an excuse to never pay you back at all. Users, abusers and manipulators look for reasons to justify their wrongdoing.
Hetero/bi women degrade and torture themselves in innumerable ways to attract and keep a man. They bend over backward to please them, and they overlook a LOT to keep a relationship with a man going. I don't think I can emphasize enough how fed up these women have to be to suppress their natural desires to partner with a man and write them off forever as a matter of 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘭.
And these men who do nothing to maintain a relationship, who hold their gfs/wives to impossible physical standards while looking and smelling like a goddamned pig, these men who have to be reminded to shower regularly and can't even wipe their as*es properly... what is their response to women's pain?
"HAH, you 4B 'women' are dumb and ugly." 🐷
"Your body, my choice, always."
"Why do you ugly women think anyone wants to date you anyway?"
They say all this, and like an ex who calls you an "ugly wh*re" because you dumped him, they're also secretly assuming we'll be back.
But none of them are sorry, and none of them ever intend to change. They've made that abundantly clear. And I wish het-partnered women who never intend to join 4B look at this and understand that this is how men respond when you do nothing more than take a step back from them. According to men, the only difference between us and you, between a "dumb ugly *****" and a "good woman with common sense" is literally our willingness to cater to them or not. That goes for every woman, including you. So think about that tonight when your husband, father, brother, male friends or male colleagues are praising you for not being like us. That approval is extremely conditional, and it hinges on what's best for MEN - nothing more.

Vedic Astro Observations 8 - Divorce & Affairs
Do NOT read if you are sensitive to the topics of divorce and cheating/affairs. Keep in mind sharing placements will not promise the same outcome - this is not a personal read.
Divorce Indicators - very general. entire chart should be looked at for accuracy.
- 7th H Ruler in 12th, 8th, 6th houses in D1 or D9. A well-placed Saturn can indicate the ability to resolve the issues rather than divorce.
- Asc Ruler in D9 in 12th, 6th, 8th houses. These are not the strongest indicators for divorce but do show certain hardship need to be overcome later in life.
- Rahu conjunct Mars in 7th of D1 or D9.
- Mars natural nature is to “cut”. Having Mars aspect your 7th or 7th H Ruler in a malefic way shows cutting ties with a partner.
- Venus opposite Jupiter or Mars shows conflict will arise. If this is in masculine signs, neither party will be willing to compromise.
- 7th H Lord in a debilitated sign, 7th H Lord conjunct a malefic.
- Malefics in 7th H - especially if they aspect other malefics.
- Debilitated or weak Saturn.
These can all indicate heartbreak in dating rather than in marriage. Most people have divorce indicators in their chart that doesn’t mean everyone gets divorced.
Venus conjunct Mars in 8th H - Every single adult ik with this placement has cheated or been cheated on in marriage or a long term relationship.
This placement will bring someone into your lives after marriage that will test your morals or your spouse’s morals. Checking Saturn’s strength can indicate whether the marriage is able to withstand these tests.
Venus conjunct Sun in 6th H D1 or D9 - Often the divorce is due to affairs - specifically you or the spouse cheats with someone from work. Or fights over money and debts that are accumulated. One person makes reckless financial choices. The other does not want to carry the burden anymore.
Venus conjunct Sun - These planets are enemies. Venus is natural representative of marriage and love. This shows you will either date or marry someone who becomes an enemy. If you believe in past lives, it is said you are marrying a past life enemy. However, in some cases it is your karma to resolve/make things work with your enemy/lover. If AK & DK are enemy planets, it can show a similar story
Venus in 8th H in D9- This indicates divorce due to an affair. Often, it is the person with this in their D9 chart that will cheat. Only once have I seen it as the person being cheated on rather than cheating themselves.
Retrograde Venus or Retrograde DK Planet
This ain’t necessarily divorce but rather a difficult situation. If you are go through dasha period of Venus or your DK planet when you meet or marry - AND the planet is in retrograde in natal. This shows anxiety over your choice after marriage.
You can be extremely anxious manifesting as cold feet or suspicion of the partner. And/or you can feel a deep sense of regret for a short or long period. This doesn’t even have to do anything with the partner. Simply marriage and idea of potential divorce makes you anxious during this dasha.
In extreme cases, I have had people tell me they regret marrying. It is always the same reason - They say they married this person because they offered stability or status. However, they begin to desire someone or something else - this can be a real person or a fantasy - but they begin to image their lives with someone else.
Ex: Venus Retrograde - He went through Venus dasha when marrying their partner. He married a woman with a respected career and good traditional family. However, after marriage they began to miss their college fling/situationship. They described the women from college as wild fun, hilarious but she came from an unstable home. She did not have a father in her life and had a complicated relationship with her mother. This person thought of these as red flags and did not pursue further.
Years later, he met his wife and married but after settling into married life, she came to an astrologer. He doesn’t believe in astro but says the women from college made him think of soulmates and past life connections. He never reached out to the past connection or cheated but for years this regret affected their married life and physical intimacy. After his Venus dasha was over, their situation improved. They consulted a marriage counselllor as well during their Venus dasha. The end of venus dasha won’t solve all problems with no effort.
ex.2: Retrograde Saturn DK in 10th H. This person met and married during their Saturn dasha period. She said she feels as if she mainly married him to escape her family and depressing life. When she met him, she was struggling with schooling, her home/family, and her employment/financial situation. She felt trapped. After marriage, she moved, became distant from her family. She works at the same place with the spouse - working together is common when DK is in 10th.
However, after reaching a stable place in life she felt her marriage had slowly become unbearably dry. She described the “trapped feeling” coming back a few years after her 2nd child’s birth. She felt she missed out on being young & experiencing life. She desired passion but knew her much older partner was incapable of it. Her partner would often shut down her ideas for fun trips & new experiences saying his “glory days are over” or “it’s a waste of money”. He wanted her to be at peace with a modest and routined family lifestyle with him. This created a silent conflict within the women. She is currently in her Saturn dasha period so I can’t conclude how this situation ends.
Remember - basically everyone has divorce indicators. Entire D1 & D9 tells the full story - not a few placements.

Let’s talk Jack and Joke’s perceived parental roles -
It’s laid out in plain words in episode ten so that there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever, Jack and Joke have taken Toi Ting in and have no plans on returning her to her deadbeat abusive bio-dad. I believe that it going to stay that way, so we’re going to keep to that assumption of her being adopted or fostered by them legally once everything is sorted.
Note: not looking for arguments about the legitimacy of blood relations verses found/chosen family. An adopted child is that person’s child, you do not need to have carried them in your body for them to be yours.
I adore that YinWar have been pushing back against the stereotypes around gay men and queer media in general about what roles a person takes in the relationship, they’ve mostly been focusing on the sexual aspect because that is the part that people tend to get the most hung up on.
Yet I find it wildly interesting how easily Jack and Joke fall into what would be considered the ‘heteronormative parental roles’ when it comes to Toi Ting. It’s not a bad thing! No, it’s actually quite nice to see. They’re not forcing any ‘husband/wife’ ideals into their relationship, they just naturally fall into the roles that are appropriate for them as a couple and a family unit.
Jack is very much in the ‘father’ role, remember, father does not instantly mean masculine or emotionally stunted. He is the protector, he is a trained martial artist and debt collector, he is physically intimidating. He is firm and chastising but also patient and forgiving, he is the one Toi Ting feels physically safe with the most, she runs to him for help, she learns her bravery and defiance from him. He absolutely will pat her back, smooth down her hair and allow himself be to dragged away by the hand to get ice cream. He is playing the role of not just a father figure, but a daddy. (stop giggling at that word, the internet has ruined us all 😝)
Meanwhile, Joke has one hundred percent filled the ‘mother’ role for Toi Ting. Again, not because he’s femme or whatever - side note, there’s nothing wrong with being femme! Joke is a natural carer, he wears his emotions on his sleeve because he never had anyone care about him before. He is gentle and a listener, both things that serve him well as a thief. When Toi Ting comes running to Jack for physical protection, it is Joke that offers emotional protection. He is the one that takes her into his arms and calms her down, he hugs her, reassures her and speaks with clam and loving words to bring her big scary emotions back down to a more manageable level. Joke can redirect her attention and is the one that sits and paints with her, Jack just ‘supervises’, aka is a big dope that’ll ruin the painting lol. But together Jack and Joke are able to offer Toi Ting what she needs, both a mother figure and a father figure, regardless of their genders.
Which leads me into the absolute heartbreak of a scene at the end of episode ten, where Jack and Joke find themselves in the one place no parent ever wants to find themselves. Stuck on the other side of those damnable white doors, unable to get to your child.
Joke has an emotional response, very much a mother’s response. Again, mothers tend to be the ‘emotional nurturers’ so them being more giving with their emotions is to be expected. And I would just like to point out how exceptional War plays that role, he is a mother waiting in terror to find out if his baby is dying or dead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The blank horrified stare, the shaking hands and quivering movements, the fact that his legs fail him and he ends up curled up on the floor. Covering his mouth to keep the sobs in, yet unable to stop the silent flow of tears, barely even noticing when Hoy tries to comfort him. Joke doesn’t snap out of his shock until Jack shows up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jack on the other hand has a very ‘fatherly’ response, the pacing, the pinched expression, the heavy breathing and muttering before just exploding with anger, swearing loudly and looking for someone to blame. He can’t break down just yet, he’s too angry, too scared, he’s not the emotional support. He’s the protector, the provider and he hates himself for failing. Yin played that so well, how he kept moving to touch his head, putting his hands on his hips, fidgeting as he paced, forcing the camera to keep up with his near frantic movements.
Where Joke froze, Jack found movement.
Where Joke was quiet, Jack exclaimed loudly.
Where Joke allowed tears to flow, Jack held his pain tightly in.
Joke and Jack are Toi Ting’s mother and father, and that final hospital scene just proved it.

I don't usually share my thoughts on the season here, I try to keep it more of an archive than anything, but this shit was a mess and I need to unpack it somewhere. Thoughts on season 4 below the cut.
Groff being JJ's father doesn't make any sense.
Before part two even came out, this little kernel of story rang so false for me. How does Luke wind up with a kook baby who "died" at sea? And the obvious answer is he had an affair with a kook, they had a baby, and, sure, she dies and he has to take care of the baby, leaving him bitter and alone and resentful of JJ. This is a reasonable expectation based on what we know of Luke thus far. But that's not what they're selling. Luke is a good-natured groundskeeper for the Genrettes, forming a light friendship with Larissa and bringing her little baby flowers to light up their days. Chandler, the baby's actual father, lurks in the background, seemingly jealous and controlling and not a fan of Luke. This completely stomps all over what we know to be true about Luke from the beginning, and really wipes out all the beautiful, horrifying work that Rudy and Gary did to build their relationship up until now. What a tragedy.
Why would Chandler kill Larissa and hand off the baby, pretending that he died? Was he hoping that Wes would take him under his wing and he would become the Genrette heir? Why not just keep his own baby with him, who would presumably be the real Genrette heir, coming into the money and property by way of guardianship when he inevitably killed Wes anyway? What's the deal with Chandler and Larissa? Did he marry her for money since he was a Pogue (more on that later)? Is this Foghorn Leghorn accent put on? Did he marry her specifically for her Blackbeard connections? Was it on the order of the Lupine Corsairs? Did he start working with them before he hooked up with Larissa? Was this all part of the plan? Why did Larissa keep her last name? Why in god's name do I care?
Watching Chandler play JJ the whole time requires us to believe that JJ is stupid, and JJ is not stupid. Impulsive, sure. Acts before thinking, absolutely, but not stupid. He's not going to get played this way (especially by a Kook), letting Chandler lock him in a mausoleum, giving him the necklace, giving Chandler his phone. It's insane. And driving around town in the Twinkie while being wanted? Still using their house and surf shop as home base for planning? Stupid stupid stupid.
The retread of scenes we've already done
Pope and Sarah in the tunnel with the rain is Kie in the sewer with the water flushing her out.
JJ and Chandler in the Twinkie is Big John and John B in the Twinkie, and just as bad. I thought they understood that was too much time away from the group, but what I've come to is that they don't actually understand anything.
Wasting too much time with a band of villains, see also last season. At least Singh had an interesting story that somewhat wove into the quest. These guys are just hired grunts. They're not on this hunt for themselves, they were hired to find the crown. Hired by who? And why do we care? They have a code that they live by, but we don't care that one of their faceless guys got killed and that they're out for revenge while pursuing the treasure. They get way too much screen time for us only have ten episodes.
Pope running from the Marines is Pope running from his scholarship interview, with higher stakes consequences that'll never be addressed, I'm sure.
Pope, John B, Cleo, and Sarah in the garage is John B in the garage in season one.
JJ wounded and floating in the water, just like in season two.
JJ and Kie talking about wishes while on watch is surf trip again. I was like, oh wow the chemistry is totally back here, and then I realized that it's fully leaning on the cadence of something that's already happened.
These are not parallels, this is bad writing. Or lazy writing. Or both.
High-stakes actions with no regard for consequences
Speaking of, they're constantly writing themselves into situations they can't get out of at this point. Last year, with JJ making deals with Barracuda Mike, big-time drug dealer, a thing that should have had huge consequences for reneging on the deal, but wound up with none. And in an even bigger 'this doesn't matter', he goes to Barracuda Mike's house this year and demands things of him? Wild and unbelievable.
This year, with JJ assaulting cops and destroying the town, for reasons that don't even really make sense. Wanted and on the run. How do you come back from that? (And a side note. JJ wasn't ever really a physically destructive presence, moreso destructive in the way that he has impulse control issues and acts before he thinks. But JJ has always been the type to take the beating, not start it. Happy to defend himself and his friends, but out of a feeling of usefulness and purpose in the group, not for funsies.)
Also this year with Pope, assaulting a cop, slipping his ankle monitor, and running away from the Marines. THE MARINES. Consequences should be looming, and who knows if we'll get there. But why set these kids on the run for the rest of their lives? The point is this place, the point is these kids. These beautiful idiots with bad luck and good hearts, just trying to get a win. What win is left? Evading jail? Revenge killing? What happened to our little boat show? This is a mess.
A family way
It's insane to me that they would chose to make Sarah pregnant in these circumstances that they've written them into, but then again, it's written by men who seem to have big-time mommy and daddy issues, so why am I surprised? I do feel like the best part of the season is that before John B even knew about the pregnancy, he was basically like I want to be done with this shit. He is not his father, he doesn't yearn for the adventure of it all. He wants to build a life, a normal life, and I wish we had had more time to sit with that and explore it for him.
The dialog
I don't know if it's that they're not improving as much anymore because of ~*reasons*~, but the dialog has gone completely down the tubes. In the last episode of the season, Kiara says "JJ hurry" over and over, at least 5 times in the span of like 15 minutes. When John B, Sarah, and Cleo are running from the Kooks, it's hurry, hurry, hurry. It's either that the writers simply aren't trying anymore or so much of the dialog was filled in with improv that now that everyone hates each other (she says casually and not addressing it at all), they're unwilling to play. Either way, that's their jobs. This show should be so fun to watch and it's becoming a drag.
The filters
I know everyone has complained about the colors of this show the whole time, but it's becoming unforgivable. The blue nighttime filter? I want to throw something at my tv every time they use it. Shoot at night??? Or on a stage? There are options that aren't the most awful fake-looking filters in the world, which, by the way, make watching on any smaller screen completely impossible. I miss those season one South Carolina sunsets. It feels like we've replaced most of those with a really harsh yellow filter that makes lighting people impossible.
Pogues vs. Kooks
That was the setup for this show, right? The haves and the have-nots? Two tribes, one island? Well, now almost every Kook is a Pogue and every Pogue is a Kook. They're muddling the message with bad results, because they still seem to want the tension and the storylines that result from it, but Chandler is a Pogue turned Kook, Ward was a Pogue turned Kook, so is Mike. JJ is a Kook turned Pogue, Rafe, RAFE of all people is working with the Pogues and engaged to one? With season five being the official last season, what will we be left with at the end of all this?
Interviews
So much of what they intended for this story, or what they want the audience to take from this story is told in interviews. I don't know if they're flat-out lying or they really think they nailed it in the telling. They say JJ is freaking out because he finds out he's a Kook, but that's not really what happened on screen, it seems more like he freaks out because their land is being taken from them and Luke's back and betraying them for a deal to keep him out of jail (yeah, not enough time spent on that). That JJ dying was the plan from the beginning which I don't believe was the case for one single second. "JJ is super jealous", where? Show me where because he barely glances at Kiara the entire second half of the season. They're two unsupervised children, dating, living in the same house, who barely ever touch, nevermind kiss. You're making this shit up to get the fans in a frenzy about it and not delivering in the telling.
The biggest fuck you
JJ dying. If talk is to be believed (and I do believe it) Rudy asked to leave and the Pates granted this request by killing him. I'm pissed as hell that the Rudy/Elaine/Madison/Mariah whatever it was ruined a truly great character and couple (the thing that brought me to this show in the first place) and I'm also pissed that it was written this way. Their right as writers and showrunners, I guess. BUT. There is a way to do this and have it make narrative sense and spur the story on and it is their job as writers to figure that out. What they did was strap him with an insane storyline about biological parents that makes no sense, act completely out of character for much of the season, have him pick up a drinking problem that he's never had before (becoming a liability for his friends), and have his new daddy kill him with a 1-inch blade in retribution for *checks notes* not letting him out of a well? Oh, and having his friends bury him in an unmarked grave in a land far from home, a home that they really can't even return to without some of them going to jail for a long time. And now they're out for revenge, as suggested by Rafe.
What is season five going to be? Losing JJ (and Jiara by extension) is a devastating loss for this show. Saddling John B and Sarah with a kid on the way while on the run and actively pursuing very bad people is irresponsible. How can we bring it on home in a way that honors these characters and makes sense of the mess they made of this story? How can we bring it on home at all? I'm not sure, but I guess we'll find out when the time comes. Lord knows, I'll be here until the bitter end.

You know what the scene in the school where Jack left Joke to be surprised by his father cemented in me?
That the show is more interested in specific class commentary than in the commentary that the characters themselves offer about their situations.
Which is to say...
Joke's trauma is being underwritten and turned into something funny because Jack's trauma is the serious part of the show, because Jack's trauma from poverty overrules Jack's trauma from his struggles with school and with feeling like a constant scapegoat and unworthy of being loved.
Jack is allowed every trauma, he is allowed to say that he has never dreamed and that being poor means you don't dream even when he's the one who dreamed where Joke never had a thought of his own future in his mind but that wasn't important because he wasn't poor and he wasn't trapped in that way and so it doesn't matter as much ans his lack of dreams is never commented on.
Jack leaves Joke standing in front of a class full of children with a problem he can't solve and it's played as funny, as lighthearted, as if Joke on the verge of a panic attack is something that everyone should be laughing at because his trauma isn't treated as deep or serious. His father, who is the reason for most of this trauma, is sent in to rescue him and then they resolve their relationship. And... that's that! He's invited home. It's over. None of that trauma matters anymore and it was all meant to be funny, to be a joke, to be something Jack did for him... you know, humiliate him because he's bad at school. Funny.
The show is more interested in making class commentary than it is on character commentary and that's why I'm worried that Jack won't be the one to go after Joke but that Joke will have to come back again, that Joke will have to fight for them again, that it will always be Joke fighting because the show doesn't care about Joke's trauma except to solve it as quickly and unimportantly as possible so they can focus on Jack and his neighborhood.
And I'm not saying Jack doesn't have trauma or that commenting about that is wrong or that class commentary is wrong but what I am saying is that Moonlight Chicken did it better and deeper and faced down the fact that trauma happens no matter how much money you have and that trauma might be different depending on class but it's all still trauma all the way down.
Jack has his trauma but so does Joke but the show doesn't care about Joke's trauma because they want to make a commentary on classism and class issues and that means that Joke's issues can never be as bad or as important as Jack's because he's not part of the commentary or at least he wasn't. Now he is and so his new trauma is allowed but the old things? They have to just... stop.
I am struggling with this a lot so I'm making this post to get words and thoughts out. This doesn't mean I hate the show or the characters or the creators or even that I'm not enjoying it! This is just a specific aspect of the show itself and an ongoing issue in Thai B: that has frustrated me for a while tbh because it's so often that they can only honor the trauma of one of the characters in a relationship so the other gets brushed aside (see also: Mhok of Last Twilight).
I also really think that if the show had been more invested in the specific struggles of the characters we could have gotten even more painful social commentary about Rose's trying to help that never does and Jack's struggles with failed dreams and Hoy and Tattoo being trapped where they are and Aran arriving and just so much that would have been just as interesting as The One Ring of Crime.

◇ Before NRC ◇
Warning for mention of attempted suicide and bullying !!
Yuuki had no friends in her old school. There, they would be either ignored or harassed by their classmates due to their odd interests, leading to Yuuki becoming shy and reserved. It didn't help that Yuuki couldn't find comfort in her family, either, as their mother would excuse Yuuki's bullying to just be “their way of thinking” and tell them to ignore them, their siblings would call Yuuki “weird” and even “crazy” due to their liking of knives and horror media, and their dad was almost never home, always working long shifts.
All of this stress over years upon years finally pushed Yuuki over the edge, and on one cold, December night, Yuuki attempted to end their life. After stealing a knife from the kitchen, Yuuki made their way to the middle of the woods, not wanting anyone to see them as they took their life. As they stabbed themselves in the stomach, a black carriage sped towards them, and Yuuki fell unconscious.
The next thing they knew, they fell out of a coffin, feeling strangely fine. No stab wound or anything. Yuuki quickly fled the room, panicking about where they were. And as they fled the building, they looked up at the campus before them.
“Where the hell am I?!?”

◇ Relationships ◇
Grim & Ramshackle Ghosts: Yuuki and the residents of Ramshackle's relationship are very similar to how it is in twst canon, though Yuuki is still a bit frightened by the ghosts. Grim often has to rope Yuuki in with him when he wants to do something, as Yuuki is extremely cautious about almost everything.
Hana: As (technically) vice housewarden of Ramshackle, Yuuki respects Hana and treats her well. Yuuki sees Hana as somewhat of a mother figure, as Hana is older and wiser than them and tends to keep Grim and Yumei out of trouble.
Yumei: Yuuki doesn't like Yumei that much, as she's very outgoing and bubbly. Though Yumei tries to get along with Yuuki, sometimes they just don't click. However, Yuuki still appreciates Yumei and sees her as a sister.
Ace & Deuce: Yuuki appreciates Ace and Deuce due to them being able to push Yuuki out of their comfort zone and being their first friends. Though, Yuuki sometimes feels like a third wheel, always taking a backseat while Ace and Deuce bicker.
Idia: Being the one who supplies and plays video games with Yuuki, Idia is one of Yuuki's best friends. They always get along, even having sleepovers sometimes specifically to play video games. Yuuki feels seen when talking to Idia, as they were mocked for liking video games and anime.
Vil: As one of the people to help him overcome his overblot, Yuuki is quite dear to Vil. Even though they don't have much in common, the two still talk and hang out sometimes. Yuuki still feels somewhat strange about Vil being friends with them since he's such a popular figure, but Vill assures Yuuki that they can still be friends no matter how popular he is. While Yuuki only sees a friendship, Vil seems to want something more. Though Vil acts casual around Yuuki, he still has a tiny crush on them.

MAMMA MIA (but not exactly) STAR WARS PREQUELS
Brought to you by me, @viennainbloom @ofteasandherbs @arctech-fox and @stormyblue90
It all starts with Anakin’s second wedding
⋆ ∙ ∘ ✧ ∘ ⋅ ⋆ ∙ ∘ ✧ ∘ ⋅ ⋆ ∙ ∘ ✧ ∘ ⋅ ⋆
Second wedding??
Tumblr media
And you might think, Koshmareq you idiot, Anakin would never divorce or remarry after Padme. And you would be right. But it’s still wedding with Padme, just this time he’s having a party for his whole family, and they’re adding Rex to the relationship. Rexanidala if you will.
And here begins the issue; who is supposed to walk Anakin down the isle? The answers might be obvious, Obi-wan, but that’s where it starts getting complicated.
Because his boyfriend Alpha 17 says that Skywalker is his kid too. And Obi-wan said in the past that he sees Anakin more like a little brother. He put him in a headlock and sparred with him when the jedi’ika was frustrated; for clones it’s more than enough to earn the title of a buir.
At the time Anakin is unavailable to join the discussion, picking his own very pretty wedding dress with Ahsoka and Shmi (she’s alive and well thank you), so the male parental figures are discussing it between themselves.
And then Cliegg Lars comes back from a walk and says that in the eyes of law he is Anakin’s father by the fact that he married his mum.
Unfortunately only a few sentences in and a draw in arm wrestling later Qui Gon pops up from beyond the grave and argues that he was supposed to be Anakin’s master and he has the right to the title too in some capacity.
The Mamma Mia is not who’s the father, but who’s the most deserving the title of dad to walk Anakin down the isle.
Now this argument debate starts picking up everywhere, among the Jedi, clones, Skywalkers and anyone involved in this whole mess.
No one knows who suggest conga line, but everyone suspects Yoda.
A big thing turn happens when Alpha 17 drops the request; Rex asked him for the honor of being his father figure during the ceremony and the big bad Alpha did not cry, don’t listen to Fordo guys.
The only quick consensus was achieved when a letter addressed from Palpatine arrived from jail. He asked, as Anakin’s mentor for years, to be allowed to walk him down to the altar. The paper has been burned very quickly.
The grooms and bride are out picking their outfits (Cody agreed to help Rex get a beskar armor), while Padme is trying on the suit.
At some point someone suggests that the Force might want to „give away” their son, but every Jedi present gets a massive migraine that feels like motherly scolding and no one argues what the cosmic entity sees themselves as in Anakin’s life.
The day of the rexanidala wedding arrives and no one has decided on who walks Anakin down the aisle.
Tbh he doesn’t even know about that tradition and is planning to do it himself while Omega and Boba (flower girls) help him with his veil.
There is a fight about to break out, weapon or two raised, knives held and lightsabers clenched, before Shmi shuts everyone up and says she will do it. Absolutely no one argues further and all the other parental figures leave to sit and watch the wedding from them front seats.
The ceremony is about to start but the officiant is missing. Rex starts to panic a bit, and Obi-wan asks if anyone of the invited guests can officiate the ceremony.
A tall, white haired figure wearing expensive clothes stands up in one of the back rows. Count Dooku, allowed to leave his house arrest for his great grandpadawan’s wedding, as a leader of his planet has the power to do it.
Even with the GPS ankle monitor he looks distinguished while he perfectly recites the words of the ceremony, even his cold eyes warming up a little as he watches Anakin join his partners at the altar.
Padme has Sabé, Riyo and Mon as her bridesmaids, Anakin picked Kitster, Owen and Ahsoka (he beat Rex in rock paper scissors for her) and Rex got Cody and Domino Twins (Fives is unhappy he didn’t get to be the flower girl).
Many tears are shed, and laughs given as the three of them tie their souls forever.
Of course R2 is the ring bearer, rolling up to the altar, taser ready when the words ”speak now or forever hold your peace” are said. Rush Clovis has been stunned hours before the wedding.
The party goes without bigger problems if you don’t count the one assassin.
He’s quickly dealt with as Anakin chases him with lit on lightsaber screaming bloody murder for daring to mess up his special day. Ahsoka enthusiastically joins, happy that she has an excuse to ”loose” her shoes.
Jango is there too, his Saturdays scheduled for the next 10-15 years because of his fucking kids clones. But he still has holopicks of Boba as the flowergirl saved. His ankle monitor looks much less distinguished than Dooku’s.
Flower bouquet toss is done, and Fox catches it with his face. Every time he demands a retoss, but after fourth time he has to finally accept it.
No one knows how Ventress got invited (Ahsoka is the biggest suspects) but she only has a few drinks, fistfights Wolfee and in the end reconciles with him and apologizes for the eye.
”Mr Skywalker why are there multiple war criminals at your wedding” ’’Mind your business”
Just as the wedding is about to end, everyone exhausted, a little drunk and ready to give the last toast to the thruple, they have the last announcement to make
Padme is pregnant with twins
⋆ ∙ ∘ ✧ ∘ ⋅ ⋆ ∙ ∘ ✧ ∘ ⋅ ⋆ ∙ ∘ ✧ ∘ ⋅ ⋆
Thank you all very much for reading this crazy thing we came up with on the @astral-veil ’s discord server, feel welcome to add your thought and ideas to this insanity

Tragedies of Each Ascendant
(Note that these insights are general observations based on astrological principles and should be verified with specific chart placements, including house rulers. These interpretations are derived from personal experience and the insights of various scholars, and they are not meant to be taken as fixed rules.)
Aries Ascendant:
Aries ascendants often face the risk of physical injury or accidents due to their impulsive and energetic nature. Mars, the ruling planet of Aries, governs both the first and eighth houses, which makes them prone to sudden transformations and crises. If Mars is poorly placed or afflicted in the chart, these transformations can lead to challenges or setbacks, both physically and emotionally.
Taurus Ascendant:
Taurus ascendants may experience health challenges, particularly due to their indulgence in luxury and comfort. Venus, their ascendant lord, also rules the sixth house of health and disease, suggesting that their love for a lavish lifestyle could lead to neglect of their physical well-being. This might manifest in weight-related issues or chronic health conditions if not carefully managed.
Gemini Ascendant:
Gemini ascendants often deal with a strict or disciplinarian father figure, owing to Saturn’s influence over both the eighth and ninth houses. Although the ninth house generally represents fortune and dharma, Saturn's malefic nature can create a heavy atmosphere, resulting in a father who imposes strict rules and high expectations. This can feel burdensome, especially for the naturally playful and independent Gemini.
Cancer Ascendant:
Cancer ascendants are often marked by challenges in their marital life. With Saturn ruling the seventh house of partnership, there can be significant obstacles in relationships, sometimes leading to delays, disappointments, or even separation. This can extend to love marriages as well, where interference from in-laws or other family members complicates the relationship. Emotional pain related to marriage is a recurring theme.
Leo Ascendant:
Like Cancer ascendants, Leo ascendants also face difficulties in marriage. However, for them, the conflicts often stem from a quarrelsome or emotionally distant partner, leading to occasional sorrow in relationships. With Saturn ruling the sixth house of conflict, they may find themselves caught in power struggles or discord within their marriage, which could create lasting emotional challenges.
Virgo Ascendant:
Virgo ascendants often experience tension with their children. This can manifest as periods of significant conflict, where they may feel the need to oppose their own children, despite their nurturing instincts. Saturn's rulership of both the fifth and sixth houses contributes to these struggles. Communication and understanding are key to resolving these tensions, but at some point, conflicts are likely.
Libra Ascendant:
Libra ascendants may encounter trouble with spiritual figures or mentors. Jupiter, ruling their sixth house of obstacles and enemies, can indicate conflicts or challenges arising from those they look up to—be it spiritual teachers, gurus, or religious figures. Libra risings may find themselves in difficult situations during Jupiter’s sub-periods or periods, leading to opposition with saints.
Scorpio Ascendant:
Scorpio ascendants are often prone to accidents or injuries, particularly due to their high levels of activity and impulsive tendencies. Mars, the ruler of their ascendant, is associated with action, competition, and assertiveness, which can sometimes lead to overexertion or physical harm. Their competitive nature, whether in sports or other activities, can result in frequent accidents or even conflicts with others.
Sagittarius Ascendant:
Sagittarius ascendants often face challenges with their social circle or friendships. They may find themselves repeatedly experiencing disappointment or conflict with friends, largely due to Venus' rulership of the sixth and eleventh houses. Their idealistic and independent nature clashes with group dynamics, leading to feelings of dissatisfaction. These challenges may be heightened during Venus’ sub-periods.
Capricorn Ascendant:
Capricorn ascendants tend to have a complicated relationship with their father figure. Mercury's influence over both the sixth and ninth houses suggests a relationship filled with both tension and learning experiences. The father might be a source of both wisdom and challenge, and this dynamic can create a bittersweet or strained connection, especially in times of disagreement or miscommunication.
Aquarius Ascendant:
Aquarius ascendants often struggle with dissatisfaction or tension involving their children. Despite their strong intellect and idealism, they may feel their children fall short of their expectations, causing frustration. Mercury’s rulership of the fifth and eighth houses creates a scenario where the parent-child relationship can be fraught with misunderstanding, and there may be periods of emotional distance or discontent.
Pisces Ascendant:
Pisces ascendants are particularly susceptible to addiction. With Saturn ruling their twelfth house of loss, isolation, and subconscious patterns, they are prone to indulging in unhealthy habits such as alcohol, drugs, or other forms of escapism. Their dreamy and idealistic nature, combined with Saturn’s restrictive influence, can lead them to seek refuge in substances or behaviors that offer temporary relief but cause long-term harm.
Please comment down your opinion. Tell me if you have observed something like that in real life.

re: Vellioth as the stepfather its interesting bc stepfathers n media (and irl but limiting myself to tropes here) hav the practical role and obligations we tend to ascribe to fathers ie providing money and protection and being the head of the household, but do not share a blood tie to the child in question. and it is seen as magnanimous for a man to "take on the duty" of providing ofr the children of the woman he's with, rather than duty. This shifts also means that implicitly the stepchild should be grateful for this new patriarch in their life, which is complicated because most often this stepfather occupies a place of control. In cazador's caze i feel like bc there was no father to speak of, his resentment of vellioth as The Stepfather had more to do with intruding and vying for attention from the woman they both love, rather than usurping the OG father. Come to think of it, having no experience with a father figure before vellioth probably made the shift to a patriarch that more jarring. And considering that he positions himself s the Father of his spawns, he probably modelled a lot on Vellioth (or in antithesis of).
ultimately velloith did what stepchildren often fear secretly most: intruding, appropriating, and evnetually the destruction of the family unit as it was
I might not have expressed myself super well in that reply- I was comparing Vellioth to a step father in the same way people loosely compare Cazador to a patriarch/abusive partner. I certainly didn't mean it to be literal - neither in the comic I referenced or in my personal headcanon (which are functionally identical) does Vellioth ever actually inhabit the role of a surrogate dad in Cazador's life. Rather, that is the perception that he's vaguely trying to sell to others to maintain the ruse.
I clear this up because I am (personally) not of the belief that Vellioth and Cazador ever had a relationship outside of the dynamics of master and slave, which might be a little more simple than you were hoping for, based on this ask (unless I'm misreading, in that case ignore me LOL)
But if we're speaking strictly in allegory - yes. Vellioth makes for a specially juicy satire of a step-father who intrudes, disrupts, and yet overvalues themselves for doing the least on the basis of being there by choice rather than obligation (keeping Cazador alive as a spawn when he could have just killed him off) but I don't think any part of him is doing that under the false pretense of charity - he only wants to keep Cazador around to hurt him, because that would hurt his mother.
(Something I also neglected to say is that in De Rerum Natura ((not spelled out in the comic explicitly, but stated so as a headcanon of the very smart and handsome author)) Cazador was never meant to become a vampire. That was a fate his mother very much did not want for him.)
And, perhaps, every vampire lord harbors a little self-destructive desire. If you don't invest a non-negligible amount of time and energy into making ONE particular guy super mad at you, who is ever going to finally put you out of your misery after all!
EITHER WAY this image you sent me is still very good and thank you for sending it LOL (art by @barbatusart)

I was totally genuine because I would love your stuff on 911 proper! They're dropping the ball with everything atm, which is so damn frustrating, considering the setup they gave themselves this spring.
Much love! 🤗
Glad for the clarification! ❤️❤️
I can totally understand your feelings. Mine aren’t far off. I waffle back and forth basically by the hour over whether this is all a tee-up and there’s real intention behind it, or whether they truly did give up the best thing that they’ve had in years.
One of my biggest struggles on it all and how it doesn’t make sense, is the active effort to include Tommy/Lou in the social media posts and ABCs use of him in ads as well. I understand that the networks opinion isn’t the end-all, be-all. But I just can’t coalesce all that’s been fed to us to this point, both from a story standpoint, and from the use of Lou/Tommy in the grander scheme at large. It doesn’t make any sense in the narrative, regardless of the ideals that some people have about him being a plot point or “entry level relationship”. One of the quotes I think back on is when Oliver said he wanted to see these two go through the struggles do in their first year of a relationship. That quote alone was one of the things (along with the intentional use of “Evan”) that said to me “people want this to be a short story, but these factors point to Tommy being around long-term”. It goes to the issue that Tommy does not see Evan as “Buck”, when we have already extrapolated that Buck is a mask. We’ve known that since season 3 when he told Bobby that putting on his uniform makes him feel like he can do anything, and “Buck” was a name he took on FOR work. It’s a dignification that creates separation for him from others. By relation, Evan can be as stripped bare and honest as he wants. This is why the use of his first name has always been important. Maddie can see him stripped down and bare, metaphorically speaking, because she knows his trauma. She’s his sister so she gets Evan rights. Eddie used his first name once with the will. In the same context as being stripped down, this was important because he wasn’t communicating with Buck from the standpoint of coworkers, but as a close friend telling him that he had made a decision about the safety and care of his child, should something happen to him. I can’t remember if we’ve ever seen Bobby use his first name, but this has always felt less important because of the father/son narrative.
We’ve seen Chimney throw around “Evan” in weird contexts, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing, so much as they have a unique relationship due to being coworkers, friends, and brothers simultaneously. I think that’s why anytime we hear him say “Evan”, it’s a bit of a play on fucking with him.
So when we cycle back to Tommy, who had only EVER called him Evan, using the name Buck is him forcing himself to create a separation. We also as a fanbase hear that and go “no, that’s wrong, it doesn’t sound right”.
At the end of the day, I cannot reason a fact to build all of this into a narrative (and I do mean ALL of it), include Lou in social media posts, have him be involved in interviews about the show… all to set it on fire 13 episodes after he returns. You’d have to have a damn good reason for doing so, like an actor wanting to leave or being so problematic that they need them gone. Now, a certain group would like for us to believe this, but we don’t have any actual proof of ANY of this narrative. That all said, we have to revert back to what we know and what we’ve been told. Which is confusing.
So. I’ve rambled again. And repeated myself in some contexts 😂 but I think I made my point? (If not I’ll obviously come up with more shit later 😂😂)

Black Hat being a supportive dad
Tumblr media
As explained in a previous post, in this au, Dr. Flug came to Black Hat when he was around 16 after he got into a chemical explosion at his school and suffered severe injuries to his face and eyes, (Also temporarily losing his ability to speak). the hospital bill was bankrupting his family, and since he canonically has family issues, I headcanon that his father sold him to black hat to bounce themselves back. It was around the time when Black Hat Organizations first originated, and black hat accepted the offer, and alled him to live in the plane that previously crashed into his roof. Over time, Flug proved to black hat that he was very skilled in machinery and chemical components and decided to set him up with a scholarship for young villains. 3 years later, Flug graduated and was promoted to Black Hat's personal scientist, slowly regaining his ability to speak, and soon created 505 and Dementia. Things may have gotten rough throughout the years, but Dr. Flug still remained like a son to Black Hat, and Black Hat remained like a father to him
I'm not exactly one of those people who ship paperhat, I actually see them having a father/son-like relationship.
