During her time as an exchange student, she’d taught her former host family a lot of the basics of the Swedish language. She’d taught them useful words and phrases. ‘Nice to meet you’ had been one such phrase, especially for when they came to visit her in Sweden for Midsommar one year. The plan had been for everybody to surprise her pappa and siblings by greeting them in their native Swedish.

Agnes shook her head, a soft 'tsk' of faux disappointment escaped her lips. She then glanced down at the little boy curled against her side. He most certainly was not awake yet. He just wanted his snuggles. But he was still clearly intrigued by the strange woman stood before him, speaking to him. So after another moment, the Swede finally opted to translate, first beginning with an introduction for her son's sake. "Gunnar, älskling… Det här är mammas vän Diana. Hon är som en storasyster för mig." From there, she waited a moment for her son to register her words in his still half-asleep state. Then she continued, this time translating Diana's prior words. "Hon säger att det är så trevligt att träffa dig; och du är en stilig lille gubbe."

The introduction and translation of Diana's words caused Gunnar to stir a bit, like he was slowly becoming more awake and cognitively aware of the world around him. He still wanted to snuggle up against his mamma for comfort; and of course Agnes would never object to the snuggles. They were her favorite thing in the entire world. She'd never tire of them. "Kan du säga hej?" She attempted to prompt her son to be a bit more engaging. It worked slightly, as Gunnar lifted his head off her shoulder and turned to face Diana. "Hej."

To say that Diana was dumbfounded was an understatement. Her eyes couldn't really begin to stay on one thing. She didn't know where to start or even how. What did register was that Agnes was a mom and that little baby in her arms was being adorably sleepy. She gave the little boy a small wave as her grin spread and glanced up at Agnes.

"Oh my god!" She squealed softly not wanting to disrupt the baby in the groggy state she assumed. "Gunnar." She repeated as the smile was still in place. "Well, how are you doing handsome?" She then remembered that this might go over better if she spoke in their native language. "Could you translate for me? I am not sure I can do it. But, it's so nice to meet you gunnar. You're such a handsome little guy."

Hypergamy as a single mom 🩷

So there’s a lot of posts about hypergamy, but geared towards typically young single women without offspring. This can be discouraging for all the mommies & mommies to be. Hypergamy is not only reserved for women without kids. Although your path may be slightly different & have different obstacles it doesn’t mean you can never find a high value man or level up your life.

There’s this misconception that no “high value” man wants to date a single mom, but this is far from true. It’s not about you being a single mom it’s about how you carry yourself individually & how you carry yourself as a mother. A large portion of “high value” men actually don’t mind children because they care more about how you as their partner would be able to elevate their life & what value you can add to it, a man of substance can afford your kids and will just see them as an extension of you. If you are the woman he wants and he knows a woman like you is hard to find, he will accept everything that comes with you and will accept your children, because if a man truly loves you and sees you as his dream woman he will do what it takes to have & keep you in his life.

There are countless examples of high value men dating & marrying single mothers even in the world of elites; and there always will be. These men can have any young, beautiful woman who doesn’t have kids, but yet they chose to make a woman with kids their life partner. Here’s a list of “Elite” high value men.

1. Marjorie Harvey (Lori Harvey’s Mother) & Steve Harvey

Marjorie Harvey originally met Steve before she was a mother & Steve was instantly in love at first site, but as life has it they didn’t get together until years later after Marjorie already had children, Marjorie was always seemingly hypergamous & the father of Lori Harvey is said to be a big time drug dealer & had been in prison. Despite this Marjorie was a regular woman without status who happened to come to one of Steve’s shows & Steve decided she was the one he wanted to be his wife despite her having children. Take note that the way Marjory carried herself is what caught Steve’s eye. Her confidence, fashion sense, makeup, posture, fitness aura & personality all equated to Steve’s attraction. Steve had also stated ways Marjorie has directly improved the quality of his life one example being her changing his lifestyle for the better & his sense of style which greatly contributed to his current success. Now due to Steve, Marjorie was able to afford her children the best opportunities that many can only dream of such as Lori Harvey.

2. Ciara & Russel Wilson

I’m sure we all know of “Ciara’s famous prayer” that she claims is how she got with Russel. Ciara had already had a child by the rapper future who left her as a “baby mamma.” She then became celibate when she met Russel. He was accepting of the son she already had & of her celibacy. They later married & had 3 more children together. Russel Wilson was one of the most infamous quarterbacks in the world, whom again could have any woman he desires yet he chose to be with Ciara because of how she carried herself, her qualities, & the value she added to his life that he knew he might not find in someone else & maybe didn’t want to find in someone else because he wanted her. She leveled up from a deadbeat “baby daddy” to a sophisticated husband with not only money, but qualities so many women desire in a man.

3. Jennifer Lopez…

So despite what you might think/ feel about her. You have to give her props because she has no problem getting a man to marry her, although keeping them is another story… Jennifer has been married 4 times. Her most recent marriage being to actor Ben Affleck despite her having her two fraternal twins by singer Marc Anthony.

4. Camila & prince Charles

Although many don’t like Camilla & in the looks department many claim she never hit close to princess Diana, Camilla was able to secure the bag & the now king of England. Camilla started an affair with King Charles when he was still married to Diana which left so many people in confusion. This is an example of if a man wants you he will do what it take to have you. Camilla has children by her ex husband. Since Charles is apart of the royal family he could have lost his title being with her, especially because she was a divorced none royal with kids which was previously a big no no for the royal family & deemed unacceptable, but he jumped through whatever hoops he had to in order to be with her & then marry her whilst keeping his royal titles. As the then prince & now king of England Charles had an endless line of potential wives of the highest status & beauty whom didn’t have children, and was already married to princess Diana who was stunning, but not the marriage of his choice. He still chose Camilla to be his life partner & married her as soon as he was royally allowed too.

All of that goes to say, you being a single mom won’t deter every or even most high value men. You need to fit the part though. Take care of your body, have substance, a feminine aura, and make sure you can add value into a man’s life. Don’t listen to podcast bros or the red p!ll men who don’t know what they’re talking about and aren’t even high value men to be having the discussion. Don’t be discouraged by the nay sayers. Even men who claim they would never date a single mother end up dating exactly that.

You’re NOT spoiled, used up, or worthless because you’re a single mother.

Keep in mind you’re not just gonna run into the prince of England & he’ll fall madly in love and marry you. The point is you can most definitely get with a high value man that’s available around you.

There are high value men who will & do choose “ hot” & even not so conventionally attractive single mothers over “hot” women without kids. These men are at the gym, at high end lounges, at high end bars, at the country club/golf courses, cafes, Barnes & Nobles etc. Not sitting behind a keyboard or a podcast arguing online. Go outside & let him find you!

- also the head kiss parallel with Gabe in Just Another Day and before he’s about to leave in I Dreamed a Dance

- the blood is so visceral but a part of me misses the bway staging too where they just walk off slowly and as dr madden talks abt Diana’s attempt. It’s basically the same thing but the reveal felt slower idk

- also man every time I miss the donmar staging of the one tiny bit where Dan’s going “Is this helping or? Di?” as Diana just walks off and back to the therapy chair. Idk it just felt like dissociation better to me, but I do like Ominous Circle Of Thinking

- I also love love love how they play the “I love you as much as I can” in this. They play it like a failed charm roll, and you really get everyone’s frustration and that she’s trying hard

- and then in Maybe when you see that Diana actually knows Natalie deeply bc she’s like her,,, hold on. Similarly, I love how the first person Natalie hugs in act two (I think?) is Diana instead of Henry. Me when the real story is between a mother and daughter (mamma Mia who)

- Diana rolling her eyes and mouthing ‘oh my fucking-‘ to Dan going “can you tell me what it is you’re afraid of” is maybe the best representation of anxiety and I’m not even kidding, MOOD Diana

- god I know it’s been in all the productions but I love how much agency Diana has, you rarely see it with mentally ill characters but she’s so funny and knows what she wants and I love her

- everyone’s said it, everyone knows it but JACK WOLFE god he’s amazing every time

- I’ll say it. The “you’re like number one on my list of problems” doesn’t work that well if you don’t have Jen and Adam’s sarcasm. Too earnest. Banned.

- I’ve said a lot abt this Henry but I actually like this act 2! He plays him v desperate and anxious which I don’t think Adam does, it shows the stakes for act two. Also his arc UGH. From being a Dan parallel where he’s saying he’ll be perfect for her and that he wants who he knew and that he’ll stay anyway because he made a promise to,,, the dance and saying that he’ll stay bc he loves her and he doesn’t care if she goes crazy

- Also I think Natalie mouths ‘help me’ as she stops Henry from walking off in A Promise owwww

The title of 'Serpent Princess' was because the cast f Riverdale started to call her that during filming and interviews

While rehearsing for Carrie: The Musical, she was Chris Hargenssen while Spencer, her boyfriend at the time, was playing Tommy Ross, and during one rehearsal, she pulled the rope with the bucket (empty) and accidentally hit him in the back, he was okay, only a bruise for a few days (they broke up in january because he moved to Iowa)

The one sided feud with Kira started because she thought Y/N last name was weird and funny, until she found out who was her father

Sometimes when she doesn't have space in her room or closet, she uses her siblings room as storage room

That was the only word running through Agnes's mind as she stared down at the two blue lines that confirmed her worst fear...

She was pregnant. Again.

Sat with her back against the side of the shower, all Agnes could do was continue to stare down at the positive test in her hand, praying to whatever higher power was listening that one of the lines would fade away, that all this would be some sort of birthday morning prank. But alas, both lines stayed strong and solid. And deep down, she had already known that would be the case before she removed the test stick from its box. She'd known for weeks what the result would be. She'd just been too scared to act upon such internal knowledge. But now, the symptoms were too obvious to miss. She was irritable, nauseated... And now, her period was not one, but two months late.

Fan.

How was she going to survive the rest of today? How was she going to put on a smile and face her loved ones for the celebration of her son's 3rd birthday as well as her 25th? Her pappa could read her like a book. He'd know the second he looked into her eyes. Diana could read her like a book too. As could Sophie. Then what would happen if Gunnar sensed his mamma was unwell and asked her about it? With how on edge she'd been these last several weeks, there was no way she'd be able to deal with that without completely breaking down.

At least she had a few hours to compose herself before she had to be at the railroad for Gunnar's party. Hopefully by then, the knot in the pit of her stomach would loosen and she'd not look half as awful as she felt. The only people who would see her before then—other than her son—were her pappa and...

Sophie who was currently in the guesthouse with plans to help her finalize things before the party, Sophie who was currently just on the other side of the bathroom door and would probably come to check on the brunette if she hid away any longer...

I saw Wonder Woman #2 today and I decided to read it out of morbid curiousity, so mamma mia, here we go again:

I read Tom King's Wonder Woman so you don't have to, round two (link to round one here).

First off, framing. Yet again, this issue is narrated by the Sovereign, but this time it's narrated to someone. And that someone is Trinity, Diana's daughter that Tom King created. She gets no lines and she doesn't appear on panel, but given the Sovereign refers to Diana as "your mother," there's only one character it could be. First of all, this is Diana's book, it should be told from her perspective. We get no insight from her, nothing from her perspective, she shows even less emotion than in the last issue. This is not the treatment Tom King gave Batman. Second, I do not care about the OC daughter. I do not want to hear about her.

But on to the actual story. So, it starts with Diana on an open field being approached by Steve Trevor, who is acting on behalf of the US government and is telling her to stand down because she can't win.

Look, I didn't think I'd ever complain about Steve Trevor, incredibly basic WW supporting character, being mischaracterised but. Isn't he meant Wonder Woman's staunch friend who pretty much always takes her side? Hasn't he seen Diana in enough battles to know she doesn't just lose? She's fought gods, armies from outer space, the forces of Apokolips, why does he think the US army is beyond her? He's underestimating her for no reason.

And more importantly, because she is the title character, why doesn't Diana seem to care that her long time ally is being a coward?

And why does Diana care about the soldiers wellbeing at this point? Why is she trying to get them to go home with no consequence and no hint of anger about how her or her fellow Amazons have been treated when they've already made their stance quite clear? People are dead! They've already made their decision, you already tried to extend them mercy. Now you fight. The thing about Diana is that mercy is always her first port of call, but when the other side has made their choice she meets them and she does have anger about the injustices they've committed. Here, she just doesn't seem to care.

Also, Diana's nihilism about the ways of men, that they will always "crash upon the rocks" is at odds with her optimism. She knows that humanity contains multitudes, some crash, some don't.

Anyway, the whole issue parallels her fight against the army with flashbacks to her final fight on Themyscira to prove herself worthy of being the Amazon's champion and Wonder Woman. This parallel makes no sense to me. Those fights were completely different.

One is against an army to defend herself and her people from enemies who want them dead, the other is against an ally in a tournament, a battle where no one's in real danger. Or at least, that's how it should be. Usually when this moment is shown, it's a good faith tournament to find out who the most qualified person to serve as champion is, they're all allies who respect each other. Here, the opponent is shown to be hateful towards Diana, genuinely seriously injure her and there's no sense of camaraderie between them.

While Diana and her opponent are trading barbs before their fight, the other Amazon gives her a chance to surrender. Diana responds "Honour is won with swords, not surrender," which is incredibly out of character for her. Yes, there are cases where Diana would consider surrender dishonourable, but it's not an absolute rule. She believes in compassion and peace, which means surrender is sometimes the right course of action. The framing of it as an absolute here does a disservice to her.

Steve Trevor would not fucking say that, Amazons do not fucking act like that and the last panel makes no sense. It's said by present Diana but only makes sense as a continuation of past Diana's sentence. present WW just said "To tell me who I am." with no words before that. To parallel these conversations, present Diana talking to Steve would have had to have said "Neither you nor anyone else has ever earned the right..." in the fifth panel so the seventh panel made sense for both sides. The composition here was thoughtless. Yes this is a nitpick, but details matter. Where are the editors? Sidenote: her mask is ugly.

Anyway, then we get these choice narration boxes from the Sovereign.

It's just. So bad. I want to make it clear that at no point is the Sovereign framed as an unreliable narrator, despite being the villain who's diametrically opposed to Diana. This just appears to be, Tom King's genuine take on things. I would ask if he understands that you cannot believe in peace and do nothing in the face of violent status quo, but I don't have to. Of course he doesn't. And of course he calls her an idiot while he's at it. Remind me, did he ever call Batman anything like that?

We then get more pathetic "Of course I want Diana to win, I'm still gonna serve with her enemies though" Steve Trevor. I should make it clear tho that he's not actually fighting against her, he's just watching the fight and updating Sargeant Steel.

Anyway, then we get a bit of narration that says:

"Infantry. Be it conscripts or... Well it's always just conscripts. If you can't do it from afar...Or with haste... Then get the grunts to rush in close and kill and die in what you will tell their children was a patriotic mission."

Tom King, stop processing your war trauma here. Any one of these soldiers could have stood down, they chose to enforce a genocidal policy. It's on them. Stop framing them as victims who were taken advantage of, they're grown adults who chose to be there.

Anyway. Another caption box from the still-inexplicably-narrating-this Sovereign:

"...And prepared to meet the onslaught of angry men with the grace of a princess born and proven."

I ask this again, did he ever treat Batman like this? Does he ever emphasise Batman's grace and frame him as being above anger? Why does Diana need to be like this?

And now for an unnecessary Macbeth reference.

"For some time the missiles rained down. No man of woman born could have survived such a salvo. But of course. She was neither a man nor born of woman. She was Amazon. Forged first of clay. Then steel."

I don't think this reference makes sense considering the line in Macbeth is a prophecy, a warning that Macbeth missed. But here it's a measure of power. She's powerful enough because she's not a man of woman born, which makes no sense because that has nothing to do with power. I'm nitpicking. Again. I know. But the Macbeth reference is such a shallow attempt at being badass. And as a sidenote, it should say "She was AN Amazon."

"Potty train." "A pup." God this dialogue is so bad. Amazons do not fucking speak like that.

Then Diana smashes a tank with another tank and there are cartoon stars on the impact sight. This is meant to be a serious battle, why are they there?

"Many people lie about your mother. About her family, her origins, her abilities, her wants her needs. So close to self awareness and yet so far. It's so ironic.

Again, why does she not seem to care about the violence they've committed against her and her people? Why does she continue to respect them and wish no harm upon them? Where's her sadness, her righteous fury? And the bit where she says she'll drop a tank on their "pathetic little heads" is so out of character and it's such bad dialogue. When Diana makes threats, it's not like that.

Anyway, y'know the flashback fight? Yeah, well, the issue ends with the reveal that her opponent is the Amazon that committed the massacre which kick started this whole thing, which is such a cheap retcon it makes me roll my eyes.

After all this, I think I put more thought into this post than Tom King puts into any of his writing. I hope the next issue isn't bad enough that it inspires me to do this again. I'm tired.
