Ok, so I've been obsessed with Monster High since it came out, and my favorite character has always been Jackson Jekyll. And you know what? Not only is he an underrated character, but like, they made his background super detailed and complicated for like no reason. I couldn't tell you how many times I've gone on long rants trying to explain it all.
Think of this like a combination of different wikis. This is based on Generation 1, the movies from Boo York Boo York and previous, the diaries, the webisodes, and some of the books. I have not watched anything from Gen 2 or 3, which really doesn't matter because Jackson isn't in any of the reboots.
Basic Information
Jackson Jekyll and Holt Hyde are two people in the same body. They have different memories and different personalities.
Jackson Jekyll is 16 years old. His favorite color is yellow, his favorite food is mac & cheese, and his birthday is May 30th.
Holt Hyde is 16 years old. His favorite color is orange, his favorite food is hot wings, and his birthday is May 30th.
They both have a pet chameleon named Crossfade.
Jackson is a bit of a nerdy type. He enjoys wearing bow ties and sweater vests. He likes to play video games. He's crazy smart, and his favorite subject is Mad Science.
Holt has a rocker style with his everyday outfit being a red leather jacket and purple pants. He also shows more of their fire elemental side than Jackson, so he incorporates flames in all his outfits as well. He loves music, so he always wears headphones (not to mention that later becomes his trigger), and music theory is his favorite subject. He has a hot temper and can become angry very easily.
Jackson Jekyll is their default character. However, he transforms into Holt due to different triggers. His original trigger was it being either day or night where he was Jackson during the day and Holt at night. Later, his trigger changed to music with a 4/4 time signature, which is most music. In the diaries, Jackson states that his doctor believes the trigger will change at least one more time, and he is deathly afraid it will be something important that he can't avoid like taking a shower.
Jackson and Holt did not know of each other's existences until they were 16. Since their memories were different, they thought they had consistent black outs. Holt considered it just a way of life and how it was, but in the books, Jackson (thanks to the suggestion of Melody Carver) thought is was due to his extreme anxiety.
Family
Jackson Jekyll is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Jekyll.
Holt Hyde is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hyde.
Jackson was born half normie (mom) and half monster (dad). The thing is, his dad is not the Jekyll/Hyde. That's his mom. His mom is the normie half of the Jekyll and Hyde combo. His dad is a fire elemental.
Holt is a full monster. His mother is the Hyde, and his father is a fire elemental.
This makes Jackson and Holt half-brothers. They have different moms but the same dad.
They know they have different moms or at least more than one mom. They call her Moms in the books and diaries. Their mom (in both versions of Jekyll and Hyde as far as I can tell) is named Sydney, who is a science teacher at Merston High and likes to go by Mrs. J.
That adds on another layer because that means his dad took his mom's last name, AND his dad's last name changes depending on who his wife is because he married both the Jekyll and the Hyde. So does that mean every time he is asked his name, the dad has to be like, "I don't know. Let me call my wife,"? Like, does he just change his name every day or is he just Dr. Jekyll by default and then changes his name if he gets a call from his wife? And he's not Dr. Hyde but Mr. Hyde, so does he loses his doctorate when his wife goes crazy?
Anyway, Jackson and Holt are cousins with Heath and Harmony Burns. Harmony is Heath's older sister. Their mother is Jackson and Holt's dad's sister aka their aunt.
Friends
Jackson's best friend is Deuce Gorgon.
Jackson first met Deuce in the diaries where they played some pick-up casketball. Then, they met-met and actually started to hang out after the webisode Fear Pressure. In the episode, Jackson had started to attend Monster High but was being bullied for being a normie (or at least appearing as one), so Deuce decided to take pity on him and let him sit at his and Heath's lunch table. Later on, Deuce introduced him to others like Gil.
When they first moved to their neighborhood, which made them change schools and start attending Monster High, Jackson only became Holt during the night, so Jackson was the first one to meet their neighbors. One time, Draculaura made him a welcome-to-the-neighborhood cake, and when he returned the tin, he met Dracula of which he was not afraid and actually made a joke about stakes. This was considered weird because both normies and monsters were afraid of Dracula, for in the diaries, he was described as being like a creepy, no-nonsense Nosferatu. Later, Draculaura invited him to Clawdeen's Boo-B-Que where he met The Wolfs.
During the night, Holt would come out and walk around. There, he studied his neighbor's houses and saw them very occasionally.
Holt actually went and became a DJ with the nickname DJ Hyde. While working a party, he met Draculaura. She was dancing the Transylvania Trance. He thought she was attractive and approached her by calling her Ula D, but she became confused because they had never met before.
That adds on another thing. Apparently, they can share some memories.
Romances
Jackson and Holt had many romances.
In the books, Jackson went to Merston High. There, he met a siren named Melody Carver. They started to date, but Melody met Cleo, because Cleo also went to this school for some reason, and they hated each other. So to get Melody jealous, Cleo ended up kissing Jackson. But he felt nothing for her. Then Melody started a band and revealed Holt, which started a love triangle except Jackson didn't know about Holt, so he didn't know what she was upset about. They ended up breaking up where she then got with a gargoyle named Granite who was also into music, but unfortunately their relationship never went anywhere, and Melody and Granite never became official.
Then there was Draculaura. Jackson and Holt both liked her, but she only ever tried to date Jackson. She said in one of her diaries that they ended up "breaking up", even though they were never officially dating, because he never went to their evening dates and could never remember exactly why he didn't the next morning. Little did they know it was because of Holt.
Then there was Frankie. She slowly fell in love with him over the course of Volume II of the webisodes in episodes such as Miss Information, Hyde Your Heart, and Hyde and Shriek. She originally liked Jackson because he was the new kid, and she was fairly new too and remembered how hard it was. She even stood up against his bully, Manny Taur. But then she met Holt and became conflicted because she thought she liked both of them and had to choose between them. After she found out they were the same person, she introduced them to each other, which is how they found out about each other in the first place. She then would record them talking on her phone so that they could talk to each other, but that got old fast, so she gave them separate phones specifically for texting each other. She decided they couldn't date until they got over their differences.
There was Operetta. In the diaries, Holt said that he liked that she liked music, so they went on a date at a concert. But then Holt got angry at someone, and due to his anger issues, he got into a fight. He and Operetta were kicked out. Her dad did not like that, and they weren't allowed to date anymore.
Then there was Clair. Clair is my personal favorite and is my OTP. In the movie Ghouls Rule, Holt got arrested while he and other monsters were vandalizing the normie school of New Salem High. He transformed back into Jackson while in jail, so they let him go thinking that Holt somehow kidnapped Jackson and swapped places with him. He became a fugitive, so Jackson hid by attending New Salem High. There, he met Clair. She stood up to bullies for him and even later defended him against the police after they captured him and tried to behead him (and no, I'm not joking). They had a discussion at the end where Holt commented that while Jackson and him don't agree on much, at least they can agree on women. He tried to kiss her, but she swapped him to Jackson first and then kissed him because, well, she didn't know him that well yet. She's an anti-police, anti-racism/speciesism, goth baddie, and I love her for that.
Side Notes
Despite being a huge nerd, Jackson is actually really good at sports. Jackson and Deuce only initially became friends because of a game of casketball. In Deuce's diary, he went to the court to play, but only saw "a lame human kid" aka Jackson. He was initially going to ignore him, but then Jackson asked to play. Then it turned out that Jackson could play very well. Quote, "I was gonna slide out of there, but he asked if I wanted to play some one on one. I figured it wouldn't take long to make him look like a statue out there, but I was wrong. He had a scary good jump shot and even crossed me over a couple times. I had just started to play really hard when my glasses got knocked off and broke. Now I have to figure out a way to get home without stoning someone, but dude just took off his shades and handed them over to me. He said to keep them until I got home and he'd get them later. Told me his name is Jackson Jekyll. He said he wants a rematch. I told him any time, any place. Not a bad guy...for a human." Also, in Friday Night Frights, Jackson attempted to join the roller maze team before he was stopped by Manny Taur. Edit: I just remembered he also plays volleyball in the Gloom Beach line.
Additionally, Jackson and Holt have facial piercings and tattoos. This is very rare and somewhat strange given they are only 16 and would at least need parent's permission for the tattoos. The only other G1 characters that have tattoos, that I know of, are Operetta and Wisp from 13 Wishes. The only other characters with facial piercings, not counting ear piercings, are Clair, Cleo, and Manny Taur as Cleo has the gem under her eye, Clair has a classic lip piercing, and Manny has a septum piercing. Jackson has one tattoo of a Ying & Yang symbol on his back, and he has an eyebrow piercing on his left eyebrow. Holt has two tattoos with the same Yin & Yang tattoo and an additional face tattoo around his eye. He also has a left eyebrow piercing.
The tattoos admittedly confuse me because the fact that Jackson doesn't have one of Holt's tattoos may imply that they got the tattoos separately, so they both just so happened to pick the same tattoo and then Holt got one extra. Also, their parents had to sign off on allowing their 16 year old son to be allowed to have a face tattoo.
Edit: Some people have mentioned that Holt's face tattoo may actually be a birthmark due it being mentioned in one of the diaries. However, this doesn't make sense to me because Jackson does not have a birthmark. So like many, I believe this mention of it being a birthmark was only added after they made the design as an excuse, and it should be left up for interpretation.
That's alI can think of for now. Info may change later, but that's the story of The Strange Case of Jackson Jekyll and Holt Hyde.

WIP Game
Thanks for the tag @ethereal-night-fairy
Rules: In a new post, post the names of all the files in your WIP folder regardless of how nondescript or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them and then post a little snippet and tell us about it!
I have taken a big step back lately because of my work, but I do have some things I'm slowly putting paragraphs into.
Long Fics in Progress
Ursa Major - Bear!Price x Female Reader - John Price is a hot, lumberjack werebear. This is the most self-indulgent fic I've ever written, and I will not apologize. Updates are weekly, for the most part.
The Sin Eater - Monster!Price x Female Reader - A dark, monster fic based off of the Jekyll and Hyde paradigm. Co-authored with amazing @vampirekilmerfic, but updates are extremely slow. It's a hard fic for me to write.
The Window - Poly!141 x Female Reader - Pregnancy fic with a poly/reverse harem theme. This should've stayed a one-shot, honestly. I don't know what the heck I'm doing with this.
The Fox & The Hound - PornStar!Soap x Female Reader - I love this fic so much. I should just stop, but I can't let it go. For some reason, this story just lives in my heart rent-free.
My Brother's Keeper - Regency!Price x Female Reader - Unpublished arranged marriage childhood friends-to-lovers dual virginity fic with a huge twist. It'll probably come out midsummer? I think.
Doubt Thou the Stars - Space!Price x Alien!Female OC - Unpublished space fic where John Price is basically Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly. Self-indulgent and weird. I might never publish it because it's so odd.
The Cube - Ghost x Female Reader - We don't talk about The Cube. But, it's there... lurking.
One-Shots in Progress
Down the Hatch - Gaz x Female Reader - Gaz convinces you to fuck him inside a tank.
Pas de Deux - Ghost x Ballerina!Female Reader - Inspired by an ask, but a bit of a divergence from the original request. Ghost falls for Gaz's sister as she performs as Odette in Swan Lake.
Against Medical Advice - Price x Female Reader - Inspired by an ask where Price gets shot in the thigh and ends up convincing you, his medic, to get nasty with him anyways.
A Knight's Errand - Medieval!141 x Female Reader - In order to avoid a dangerous foreign king from being eligible to marry their queen, her knights work hard to ensure that she is with-child, securing her position on the throne. (I think this fic already exists? I don't remember the name of it, though. But, that's why it's unpublished. Maybe it's a two-cakes situation, but I don't want to publish it and have it be so similar that it repeats their original idea.)
I hope some of these are interesting to y'all! Feel free to ask me about them if you have questions.

Hello time to ask about your ocs hehe
Ok first of all are there any sorts of rivalries between them or are they one big happy family? Pretty much are there any notable relationships between them?
Also I have to ask about Hector Jekyll and Edgar Hyde because I loveee Jekyll and Hyde so so much. Anyways, is it like the original novella where they are pretty much one person but they switch and change both physically and mentally? If so, had this always been happening or was there a potion of some sorts (like in the novella) that caused this? You can also mention other stuff about them if you want :))
Ok now hand over your bones /j
they are NOT one big happy family uh. lets see
everyone hates hector (and edgar). oh and on this point, they are in one body, but they switch! it started more as like.. a bit more similar to how something like did works (i dont know everything about did so take what i say with a grain of salt, and this character is NOT a system), but as the changes got more frequent, more differences in their physical appearances started showing up until they basically look like different people. it was not a potion (unfortunately), just something that started happening!
Tumblr media
you cant see it in this but hectors eyes are green and edgars as blue (also old ass drawing im sorry)
anyway! back to rivalries! wirt and hector specifically fucking HATE eachother
jesse hates everyone except mary (and edie, because shes marys friend)
tato is bitchy to most people but doesnt hate any of them. wirt does not like them though, and harley is scared of her
there is some overall bad blood towards nessie after a.... certain event.. but before then, everyone loves her
as for notable relationships!!
wirt and tammy are siblings, obviously
tammy and damien dated once, but it didnt work out. theyre still friendly, though
nessie and lunar have a very sibling relationship
wirt looks up to lunar a lot (lunar does not see himself as a role model and it scares him)
as stated earlier, jesse is super protective over mary, like a guard dog and edie is bffs with mary
harley is besties with wirt, and kinda treats edie like a younger sister when he gets to know her
edie clings to lunar and treats him like an older brother/almost father figure
miss gray is very much like a grandma figure to everyone, but especially carmilla since she was raised there. nessie is like an older sister to her
the horse girls are like. fun cool older cousins to nessie. they helped her with her social transition
tato and lily are dating (but theres one little thing putting their relationship on the rocks... youll see)
lily and damien have a siblingish relationship, she braids his hair

Speaking of Absolute favorite tropes, here's another one that I can't get enough of: the fight and flight trope
the male lead says or does something irrecoverably bad, so hurtful and inexcusable that the female lead decides then and there that she's got no choice: she has to leave him. ( I blame Jane Eyre and Maria Von trapp for my fixation with this trope) because not only does she leave him, no, she leaves in secret, ostensibly to spare herself the pain of a goodbye. But we all know it's because she would either kill him or fall into his arms if she faced him... And so the female lead dissapears.
Our male lead then comes to his senses, ready to make amends, but she's gone, and for maximum amount of trauma, he can't find her anywhere. The ensuring prideful groveling and pathetically apologetic humblling of the male lead is and will always the part I love the most about this trope! And I will gleefully encourage anyone who writes it.
So here we go with the aus:
Polin
Realizing that she's been compromised in the carriage and not really wanting to ruin Colin's life with Lady Whistledown's reputation after all the hurtful things he said about her life work. Penelope refuses Colin's proposal Infront of her family and on the same day she leaves for the countryside without telling anyone. He's too dangerous for her piece of mind and she would rather be alone than married to him just to protect herself from the ton's retaliation on LW. Colin naturally goes absolutely feral looking for Penelope, HIS WIFE (Colin she rejected the proposal), the woman who has never left Mayfair where he could get her, his Penelope! How dare she leave him, when he does find her, he refuses to leave her alone even in the bathroom and rests at nothing to have Penelope inlove with him again! He will convince her he's marrying her for love! (Colin is a closet Jekyll and Hyde just waiting for Penelope to give him a reason to let out the unhinged psychopath he's got inside and you can't convince me otherwise) charming Colin my grass
Kanthony
Instead of watching Anthony wed Edwina, after their last fight, Kate decides to make good on her promise and return to India, devastated by Anthony's inability to take responsibility for the hurt he's caused her. Finding out that Kate has dissapeared, a furious Edwina blames Anthony for the destruction of her relationship with her sister and cancels the wedding. This is how Anthony finds out that Kate has decided to return to the Maharaj court without telling him. And he absolutely drops everything and heads to India to confess his love and bring her back . ( He grovels and he grovels a lot)
Benophie
She definitely should have left him after they slept together and she did in aofag. Because Benedict never proposed an arrangement that would leave her feeling like she didn't just sell her dignity for love. But instead of getting caught by anyone, Sophie manages to escape to a seaside town where nobody knows her. She realizes she's pregnant with Charlie and fearing that Benedict could use the child as an excuse to set her up as his mistress, and refusing to give her baby the life she led as a nobleman by blows. Sophie decides to not return to Benedict and simply pretend to be a widow and raise her son alone. Some years later traveler Colin stumbles upon a widowed seamstress who looks eerily like the missing maid his grieving brother can't stop painting. The seamstress has a child that's the spitting image of Gregory as a babe and soon, Benedict is knocking on Sophie's door and refusing to leave untill she agrees to listen to his apologetic soul ( I'm pretty sure he'd cry if she didn't listen to his apology and give him a second chance, he looks like a crybaby)
Honorable mention: Philoise
In tspwl She left him for an entire afternoon after a bad fight, she wasn't even far, she was literally in the estate next door, with her brother but Phillip was ready to pretty much die if he didn't find her at Benedict's. He was a mess of a person as soon as the thought of Eloise leaving him appeared in his head. If Eloise left him Phillip would apologize to her so much he'd turn into a ghost of a man and fall into a spiral of anxiety and depression until she took him back.
Anyway that the tea

New to your blog and I saw in one of your posts you mentioned the demonization of DID within media and horror especially. I'm used to knowing this as things like the movies split etc but you mentioned werewolves aswell. As an avid dnd player I never really connected the dots but it makes a lot of sense how things like werewolves could be an allegory for people with DID and perhaps other horror related media and stuff also do that (perhaps jekyll and hyde).
I'm not well versed on the topic and was wondering if there's other creatures through mythology or stuff like that that are possibly rooted an abilism and stuff like that that you could point out for me? Sorry if any of that came across as offensive or anything
-Ben (only asking in anon because my main blog is a fan blog)
Hi there!
And there's a ton of it.
Before going further, it's important to note that pluralphobia can be broken into roughly two categories. The first is the fear of BEING plural. Of sharing your own body with someone else.
The second is a fear of someone else being plural, or otherwise not being the same person they used to be.
Stories of demon and spirit possession will touch upon both forms of pluralphobia and I've talked about them a lot.
But something that's not brought up often that contributed to this is body snatchers.
Many mythological creatures throughout history have fallen into this category. Despite not technically being plural, these stories stigmatize and demonize people for acting differently than they did in the past. For being different people.
Take, for instance, a story of a girl who goes into the woods collecting mushrooms and goes missing. She's found days later by her father who is overjoyed to have her returned.
Afterwards, strange things start happening around the farm. Animals start dying. And the girls' brothers are sent to watch the lifestock at night. One by one, the brothers tell the father what they saw, and he doesn't believe them.
One of the brothers is banished by his father while the others don't speak of it further. He goes to live at a temple for a year when one of his brothers comes to get him, telling him he needed to return.
The brothers return home to find their estate in disrepair, and their livestock and the rest of their family dead. Only the sister is alive, when she's revealed to be a Kumiho: A 9-tailed fox demon who replaced their real sister.
(Note: I'm summarizing the version from the Myth & Legends podcast we heard well over a year ago from memory, so some of the details may not be totally accurate. Also, that's a really great episode and you should check it out even if I did spoil the ending.)
This story isn't intentionally pluralphobic. It's intentionally sexist, with the moral being to believe your sons over your daughters. But the pluralphobia isn't intentional.
However, stories like this and many others created environments where systems couldn't exist.
These stories weren't JUST stories. They were superstitions that shaped cultures.
I don't know if people believed this specific story as an accurate historical account of something that really happened. But they believed in the Kumiho and creatures like them. Just like people believed in similar creatures that could replace your loved ones.
Luckily, I don't know of anyone killed because their relatives believed them a Kumiho. (But we likely wouldn't know. These were peasant beliefs most popular in times when lower classes were illiterate and much of this history wouldn't be recorded. Let alone survive to be translated into English.)
But when it comes to superstitions of Fae body snatchers, Bridget Cleary wasn't nearly so lucky.
Murdered by her husband with several others who accused her of being a Fae.
For other ableism, some have also linked changelings to Autism and other mental illnesses, being used to justify child abuse and torture.
What would it have been like to be plural before the modern era?
With this in mind, I think it's important to consider why we don't hear much of psychological plurality until recently. The body snatching trope may not be a direct allegory for plurality in the same way as demon possession. But it contributed to an environment of superstition and fear.
Today, being out as plural, headmates wanting to go by our chosen names instead of the body's, means that we may be disowned by family, abandoned by friends, harassed on the internet or lose our jobs.
But historically, it's likely that plurals who came out would have feared treatment like that of Bridget Cleary unless they lived in a society with culturally accepted plurality, where spiritual possession might be welcomed.

would you please spare one head cannons for each of these guys and gals (possible non-binary pals)
Sure! (And since they’re my OCs, technically every Headcannon is cannon hehehe)
Anastasia falls in love VERY easily, with anyone really (she’s Bi) but no matter what she tries, she just can’t strike a relationship with anyone 😞 still, she doesn’t let that stop her from falling in love. A lot.
Lloyd tries to pass off as a guy who doesn’t care— But he’s a huge nerd that definitely cares lol. Especially about his best friend, Anastasia. And she knows it, no matter how much he tries to hide it.
(I should also add that Lloyd and Anastasia should not be shipped. They feel more like brother and sister than dating (also Lloyd is gay ^^ (very gay… For Henry—)))
Henry/Ed was an experiment Dr. Jekyll did to see if his ‘condition’ would pass on to his kids. (It did) Rather than abandoning Henry/Ed, though, Dr. Jekyll (and Mr. Hyde) decided to raise them as their own ^^ (this is also why Henry/Ed look so much like their father(s), they’re literally made directly from their genes)
Brenda has a third eye, so she can look into the future :D I can’t guarantee that she’ll actually tell you what’s going to happen or not. If someone is going to do something incredibly stupid, she won’t tell them because they need to learn their lesson. If their life is at risk, however, she’s on top of it, trying to warn them.
Joy used to go to a school in Hell, but was since transferred because her mother thought that she could use a different school and that it would be good for her to meet new people. Joy is still pretty bitter about that. But is there a darker truth to the school down in Hell? 🤔
Polly may look all sweet and innocent, but she can be feral if she wants to :)
Evan can only have food with high amounts of sugar. It’s a play on words because in photosynthesis, plants ‘eat’ something called sugar but it’s not actually sugar we use for baking (idk what it actually is and I don’t really feel like looking it up first thing in the morning lol). So Evan can basically have as much cake and donuts as he wants (I’m jealous)
Bo (is non-binary, yes ^^) loves their dads, but can get pretty embarrassed by them. Sand Mann usually does it unintentionally, but Boogey Mann knows how easy Bo is embarrassed hehehe (but he stops when he’s told to by his husband or his kid)

trauma dumping bc I can't afford therapy
thinking about how I didn't even say our dad was abusive to us out loud even once until I was like 21 (or think it, honestly), which was a full 7 years after he was out of our house for good. and when I did finally say it my sister replied with "no, we weren't abused, he had a temper but that isn't abuse" & then I internalized that for a few more years. I still have moments where I doubt my own perception of what happened & need a reality check, to see it all laid out so I can pretend it happened to someone else & be like "yeah okay of course it was abuse". I can't really put this anywhere else but here
I remember at least 2 occasions where my mom definitely thought my dad was going to kill us all. the first one was especially terrifying bc I was younger, he broke down a door (not just broke through thr lock, I mean he kicked the door until it splintered to pieces as if it had exploded) to get to where my mom had us all hidden, locked in her room. & when the banging of him kicking the door started she began frantically apologizing immediately through her tears & I sensed her fear & knew instinctively what she thought was about to happen. I was 10 at that time I think, my siblings were 8 & 6. my memory blacks out at his silhouette appearing in the threshold so I dunno what happened next but later said that he thought that /she/ was killing /us/ and that's why he broke down the door but that is the most ridiculous lie I've ever heard. he knows damn well she would never harm a hair on our heads.
the second occasion my mom thought he was going to kill us was when I was 14 and it was only a year after the family annihilation happened to our friends, which was committed by the father-who my mom & aunts had known since they were teenagers-so it made that seem much more real & plausible to us all. my (9 at the time) brother did something, I don't even remember but it was probably just normal child misbehaving, & it made my dad so mad that he started chasing him around the house screaming that he was going to kill him, my mom yelled for my brother to run as far away as possible so he left the house and ran down the street & my mom and sister were physically holding my dad back so that he couldn't go after him, but he pushed both of them to the ground and got outside. luckily my brother was out of sight by then, hiding in our neighbors bushes. I had called the cops but he was miraculously very calm when they arrived, as usual. after that my mom never let him live with us again & he went off and shacked up with his current wife before the divorce papers were even served. not even gonna get into how fucked up that whole situation was.
those are the big occasions but god there was so much in between. he was really jekyll & hyde, the second he lost his temper he became something very terrifying. he and my mom had screaming matches long into the night very often, usually about stuff he was doing to us (he believed in corporal punishment, not closed fist beatings or anything but spanking and hitting us with spatulas and such, and he was always full of rage when he did it so it hurt a lot & scared us) and she almost never let us be alone with him, another relative would always have to be there supervising.
then of course there was the religious shit, obviously, I've talked about it before. he told me from the time I was 4 or 5 that I shouldn't focus on what I wanted to be when I grow up cuz the world was going to end before I reached adulthood & I had to be a soldier for god in the apocalypse, which could happen at any moment so I had to be prepared. oh and that everyone i loved-my whole family except him-would be dragged to hell to be tortured for eternity, that my dead grandpa who I was very close to was already there for being a catholic rather than a fundie, & that I'd go to hell if I didn't listen to him. he said he was trying to save me. my mom had to find this out from my therapist when I was in first grade & she lost it. she has since told me that she would have left him right then if she didnt have a 3 kids under 7 at the time & no way of supporting us alone. another harmful thing he tried to force on us was of course the belief that gay people are broken & need to be fixed or they'll go to hell. as someone who realized I liked girls as a preteen that obviously was hard to hear. my brother is gay too & I know it's affected him badly.
I was a really troubled child & I guess it makes sense given the horrible anxiety he instilled in me plus I was seeing psychiatrists from as early as 5 for my ocd & depression. I got my autism dx (well, aspergers, since that was still a clinical term back then) around that time too. school was hellish bc people ostracized & mocked me for being a mute & wearing the same clothes every day due to sensory issues. I had no friends at all for a few years. I hit puberty really early & got groped by a few boys so that was just great. I was also the tallest person in my class until 7th grade when the boys started growing which while not traumatic kind of sucked bc I felt like a hulking giant when all I wanted to do was hide. I eventually learned to mask, forced myself to talk more & made friends with other unpopular girls at school. safety in numbers (by high school I stopped giving a shit about what anyone thought so that was good).
I was medicated for the first time at 12 when my intrusive thoughts got worse & I tried to kill myself, from then on they just kept adding more diagnoses and more pills from 12-16ish. bipolar, like my dad & uncle (who has since killed himself). I started using food as a coping mechanism around age 14 & developed various eating disorders that extend to this day, which probably also originated in my fathers fear that we would be fat like everyone on my mom's side & his control over our eating (he wouldn't even let me have cupcakes if someone brought them to school for a bday party, he told my teachers I had allergies that I don't have). I slit up my arms for awhile in my late teens and early 20s as a way to stop panic attacks. I dropped out of college. I became a drug addict. never had sex or a proper long term relationship & probably never will bc I don't like being emotionally or physically vulnerable. I know it has a lot to do with the way I was treated as a kid. I took a test once & it said I have an avoidant attachment style which is very accurate. apparently that happens when a child grows up not feeling safe with one or both parents.
reading this back I still immediately think "well others had it worse so maybe it wasn't REAL abuse. maybe I don't have C-PTSD." like no matter what my brain just won't accept my reality

Nemo! I come bearing gifts (of my presence, which you are welcome for) (jkjkjk) and questions for your OC reblog game!!!!
4, 9, 17, 25???
Tumblr media
okthxgoodnight!!
Aniiiii!! My dear!!!
thank you so much for your ask!! I am immensely sorry for this late reply, was so tired from work had no energy! :/
But I am incredibly happy to see you in my inbox!! Always happy to see you in my inbox!
Now, onward with my answers!!
4) What kind of music do your OCs listen to?
UUUUUh, good question, my dear Ani, good question! Because it depends on the OC! :D Let me try and list at least my main 4 AC OC!
-Dorothea would definitely listen to Classical and Opera, along with Movie Soundtracks, with a dash of Swedish Pop being her secret indulgence (ABBA and Roxette, looking at you lol);
Mathias instead, while also loving Classical Music, would be listening to Swing and Jazz, along of course with Classical as well. My darling Mathias is a great estimator of Mr. Benny Goodman and Mr. Cab Calloway (and thank you, now I am back with my mind on my Noir!AU lol).
Antoine, instead, favors Rock and Blues as her favourite genre, with Eric Clapton being literally her Music God (seriously, Antoine never shows how much she loves something, but bring her to an Eric Clapton’s concert, and my girl goes from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde, in terms of how different she behaves).
Colette adores Musical Theatre and Cabaret Music above all, but she also has a HUGE soft spot for the songs of the Italian Tradition and Italian Cantautori, with particular love for Fabrizio De André, Franco Battiato and Riccardo Cocciante being her favourites!
9) Favourite OC?
Do I really need to say it? 😂😂😂Lololol Madame Dorothea is most definitely my favourite brainchild!
But in all seriousness, I DO have more than one favourite OC, even if it doesn’t seem like it because I always have the tendency to draw Dorothea. But I do, and they are, Mathias De Beaumont, Byron Harrison, my Emmett and Gabriel Frye, and for the non AC side, Nabyrie Ondore and my Verona Caruso.😊<3
They are my adored brainchildren, and if I could put them in everything I do, I would.
17) What are some tropes and character dynamics found in your wips?
Ohh TROPES! Love this! Let me list some tropes and character dynamics that you can almost always find in my wips!:
-Broken Bird
-Enemies to Lovers
-Power Trio
-Sun, Moon and Stars
-Brother(s)-Sister(s) team
-Beauty and Beast
-Star-Crossed lovers
-Destructive Romance (with touches of “A Deadly Affair”)
25) What’s your favourite genre to write? Is it also your favourite genre to read?
I would say Historical Fiction and Gothic Stories. They are my bread and butter, and the one I love to explore the most, both as a writer and as a reader. :) Also, as far as non-fiction goes, I love to read essays regarding the most varied topics! I am not too choosy in that sense, and all knowledge can always come in handy later on :)
thank you so much for your questions!! <3

I'll go with #28, what's your angstiest fiction idea?
Angiest fic idea I’ve EVER come up with is a hard guess. Right now I’d probably give it to a current WIP for the blood of Eden series, titled “Dolomedes”, which covers Jackal being attacked while separated from his estranged family and then the fallout that results, due to the relations between his father and the man who tortured him, his family overall not trusting and assuming the worst from him, and victim-blaming on Jackal’s end as he tries to both hide his injuries and rebuild his relationship with his family without them figuring out what happened to him. And so far it’s going poorly for him. Either that, or a brainwork for the Talon Saga that essentially goes “girl’s war criminal brother dies, she has a breakdown and clones him, fabricates his memories, and doesn’t tell the clone he isn’t the original. Clone proceeds to feel horrible guilt for things he didn’t do while sister feels angry that she doesn’t feel better and no-one wins.”
But for Maximum Ride (which is, I assume, the series I’m most known for), I’ve been thinking of the “Frankenstein Max versus Jekyll Iggy” concept because I love two people who are completely unable to escape the cycle of violence. I love Max growing into her father’s face in the worst way. I love Iggy willingly cutting away parts of his humanity in order to ensure his family’s safety.

Chapter 14
I got dressed and looked myself over in the mirror, the skirt was short but not too short that I looked like one of the skanks, and the top was fitted but not too much, just enough to hint at what was underneath.
I’M NOT LIKE OTHER GIRLS!!!111ELEVEN!!!!
I grabbed the little bag that I got from the family planning clinic and pulled out my box of pills. Scanning the packet, I found the first one and swallowed it quickly, smiling to myself.
The first pill is always in the upper left corner. Even if you haven’t taken BC before, it’s fairly self-explanatory.
I hate how the narration makes it seem like it was somehow difficult to find. Either that, or Amber is 99 cents short of a dollar.
“Oh yeah it’ll work. All the guys in school have been talking about your killer legs today. I must say that even I, who am totally in love with my girlfriend, have checked you out,” he admitted, shrugging.
I slapped him on the shoulder playfully. “Ew! That’s gross, Sean. You’re one of my best friends! Best friends don’t perv on each other!” I stated, faking a shudder.
“Actually, I’ve been checking you out too,” Kate joked.
You know what would make this story better? If Amber was some sort of succubus, who made every single person crazy with lust. That would sure explain why every single person is so freaking crazy about sex throughout this entire book. Maybe it has an effect on EVERYBODY around her, which confuses even the straightest of girls, who turn and hit on Jake and Liam in their confusion.
/somehow would prefer this to the bizarre, non-supernatural story we’ve been given
“Seriously, Rebecca, if you touch me one more time I’m going to go speak to someone about it. This is bordering on sexual harassment,” Liam growled, glaring at her and knocking her hand off of his thigh.
Uh… Why has he not been saying this the entire time?
I just hoped Jessica actually paid up once she realised I was his girlfriend all along.
Don’t hold your breath, babe. She’ll probably go down swinging, and refuse to give up on Liam.
“Jake’s going to get a lift to work. So, as long as I get you home by nine, he won’t even know we skipped,” he said happily.
Except for, you know. The school calling to complain.
Oh, who am I kidding. The author probably doesn’t even know that schools will call the parent if a student misses class without an excuse.
“I love you more, Angel.” I sighed and closed my eyes, drifting off to sleep, safe and warm, wrapped in his embrace.
Chapter 14 summary: This chapter starts off pretty much the same as the previous one had. Wake up, make out, get dressed. Amber intentionally wears a more revealing-than-usual outfit, which gets Liam all horny when he sees it. They discuss their “battle plan” for convincing the school that Liam slept with Amber later on.
Again, Amber turns on the charm at lunch. After, as she’s walking away, Liam grabs her and tells her that it was kind of a lot. They start making out, and then he suggests that they should ditch the rest of the day. Amber agrees, and they make plans to go to the skate rink again.
They skate, and then go to dinner. Over their food, Liam confesses the reason why he was such an ass to her all the time was because Jake didn’t want Liam around his sister. Hence the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde act. Amber is angry that her brother would have done that, but laughs over the thought of Liam being beaten up by Jake.
Back at her house, Amber confesses her love to Liam. They then start to make out, and Amber takes her shirt off, but not her bra.
When Jake comes home, he asks how her relationship with Liam is going. He also warns her not to get too hurt, because Liam is a known-player.
Jake then starts to talk about their father. Amber is a little upset at the thought of seeing him again, but Jake tells her she doesn’t have to see their dad. However, Jake says he has something to tell his father, but it’s not like he wants to see him, either.
