One of the things that makes The Traitors so entertaining is how little information they have and how dedicated they are to thinking they have proof.

However, them introducing the Seer role has opened the door, I just don't think it was the right door and it opened too late.

I know that they can't just lift roles from Blood on the Clocktower, but honestly if they were going to introduce a role for a faithful it should have been either a Monk (every night choose a player other than yourself, they are protected from the traitors that night) or a Seamstress (once per game choose two players other than yourself, you learn if they are on the same team). It avoids giving a traitor away directly, it gives the traitors something to try to uncover, it gives the faithful a little more agency. It doesn't just pit two people directly against each other right at the end of the game. I don't think they need it really, I just think those would have been better gameplay options than lategame Seer, which just was never going to have a positive outcome.

It is possible I need to watch less BotC. But at least I didn't suggest they add an Amnesiac or a Wizard.

last day of class!!!

now only my practical and oral exam are left i do have to go back to school for preparing the fashion show and maybe some voluntary sewing with the help of one of my teachers but that all depends on how capable I feel of leaving the bed after next week

and then my graduation ceremony and I will never have to see my horrible teacher again but there are also some really lovely teachers I will remember fondly and I will miss my classmates and seeing one of my favorite people every day and going through this experience with them together and i will miss being taught sewing and tailoring a few more weeks and 40 hours of sewing and I am officially a journeyman tailor. or seamstress or dressmaker or custom tailor or whatever you want to call it in English though I like the term seamstress. sounds like mistress of seams, as if I am reigning over seams. which I technically am.

Akari having Chinese Ancestry wasn't something that I wasn't gonna push through at first (despite it being in the back of my head for awhile) because I didn't know where it would fit in her story..

Until I was drawing her backstory and I realized that her Chinese heritage would fit into the context of how her flower haori was made (The motif of Japanese Camellias actually being native to China despite the namesake) and how it signifies the bond she had with her mom. It's not rlly the forefront of Akari's character arc, but I think this little detail added more context as to why she's especially close to her mom.

At first, Akari wasn't very aware, bc of some similarities between the cultures, but she slowly internalized it as something that only she and her mom had. Eventually, Akari would grow up not being able to talk openly about her Chinese heritage since she would very much be discriminated for not being a pure Japanese. Her only link where she gets to explore a fraction of her culture is through her mom.

Akari is close to her dad too (she regrets not spending more time with him) But this is why losing her mom hit her hard. Akari not only lost her family, but the one person that made her feel the most seen, and that made her feel that she is truly alone.

That's also why Akari hates being lonely. She knows the inherent feeling of loneliness. It's why she gravitates to other lonely people as well.

Well now I made myself sad thinking about the tragic backstory for my oc that I wrote myself! 😃👍🏻

There are two moods when writing fanfiction about something that needs to be researched:

Going to the absolute nitty gritty, double checking everything, going through articles, maps, videos, research papers just to make sure that one bit is correct and ties in correctly.

Going fuck it and making up something that sounds right and praying no one who actually knows the subject calls you out.

I'm sorry if this comes off as rude but why would you make Madeleine be a prostitute in your story when she could just be a seamstress as she actually is?

Ah, you're okay, anon. I had actually thought about that earlier in plotting, but changed my mind on it, and that's ultimately for a few reasons:

I write in closed-POV, which means that whoever I'm writing doesn't really get the chance to interact with other characters outside of their individual experiences. The result of that when creating an AU is if there are characters I want to write into bigger roles, they have to be able to interact with the POV-character on a regular basis.

This fic's going to be alternating closed-POV between Louis and Lestat (so chapter 1 will be Louis, chapter 2 will be Lestat, chapter 3 will be Louis, chapter 4 will be Lestat, etc.) so I need the characters I want to write more to be able to transition between Louis and Lestat's respective storyworlds, which is a bit of a challenge because Louis might run what's effectively an escort service, and Lestat might be a sex worker, but Lestat doesn't work for Louis.

I want Madeleine (and Claudia) to be at these society events and to try and seize power where they can, but ultimately still be on the backfoot due to social standing. If Madeleine's a seamstress, she'll be completely cut out from major parts of the story, and less likely to be transitioning between storyworlds / less useful to the plot in the way that I want her to be.

I want to explore Louis' relationship with Madeleine in a way that reflects the complexity of their power dynamic, and while I could kind of do that with her as a seamstress, I think there are more interesting things to explore for me creatively if she works for him, and that there's a neat thread there to tug in terms of her there as someone beneath him who he doesn't truly know falling in love with someone he cares for as a daughter.

I'm also curious to explore a Lestat-Madeleine dynamic, and having them on a relatively equal footing as high-end sex workers in the Parisian aristocratic social court just seems really fun to me?

And look, I call it the courtesan au, but that's just a fancy way of saying it's a sex worker AU, which it is. A few of the characters are going to be sex workers.

About your one headcanon post regarding Ectonurites: I remember having this kind of silly idea once that the High Ecto-Lord of Anur-Transyl is also in charge of religious affairs in addition to general ruling (basically being their version of the pope in a sense) which is why Zs’Skayr dons his skin like a cloak in Omniverse, with traditional Ectonurite religious doctrine teaching that the sun deity is basically their equivalent of the Devil who will immediately “kill” them on sight and thus they need to either hide or disguise themselves from them (whether through staying indoors, their sun-skin, parasols, or possession of bodies either real or artificial) and Zs’Skayr attempting to use this as a way to get his subjects on board with his plans, claiming he was finally “vanquishing” the sun’s evil and “exterminating”/“purifying” its “demons” (aka species that need the sun to live)

Ooo a Theocracy, or at the minimum a theocratic absolute elective monarchy if it’s less ‘God has appointed thee to govern its land’ and more ‘High Ecto-Lord = Priest-King’ between Anur Phaetos and the wider Anur System (maybe a former and latter respectively?), maybe even something a little less… like an oligarchy equivalent where the priesthood has significant influence in Phaetan politics even if they themselves aren’t ruling under one religion. Either way it’s really really interesting for worldbuilding implications, especially since if the sun (or ultraviolet radiation) which could be considered demonic can actually ‘smite’ or I suppose ‘collect’ innocent souls. Very easy for early ectonurite civilisations and eons of evolutionary history to view that as ‘evidence’ of the existence of divinity even if infernal in nature, at least until science gets developed and atheist and agnostic circles have concrete reasons to disagree-

Heh, I can imagine the cultural differences between [insert name for religion a ‘High Ecto-Lord’ is a part of] and atheist ectonurites, where of course everyone would do their part to protect themselves from the sun (because it is literally an active threat, even in funerals because it puts unnecessary risk on the cyst stage), but the differences come in the home or on planets with little to no UV rays. Like religious folk would retain their cloak or hell, there’s the equivalent to *looks at religions i vaguely know enough to compare* nuns where ectonurites would be in constant possession of sunsuits, whereas atheists would shed their skin and close their parasols and kinda let the body breathe so to speak (functionally the sun skin doesn’t restrict anything since it’s a natural biological process - even if not everyone has the same potentially mindless experience with it - but some folk like the permanence of styling their underbody rather than the rather fragile temporary skin they can damage with wear and tear).

Heh, if Zs’Skayr has a religious motivation to block the sun on Earth, he and the rest of his potentially extremist kin would really inherently hate Pyros and pyronites. If Earth is ‘hell-touched’ with its sun corrupted life, Pyros would be the text-book definition of a hellscape and consequently their people would be the closest things to real life hellspawn, which isn’t exactly um… all that great now is it? Hell, depending on how you headcanon the Anur System as well as if you extrapolate what has in some way been said about it’s planets, you might even say the most extreme may have problems with Anur Khufos and thep khufan, who though culturally also remain in the dark, they come from a planet with so much sun it’s surface is largely one of dry desert heat!

Of course as High Ecto-Lord - one officially recognised in the Anur Transyl polity - Zs’Skayr is hardly in the position to agree with those kinds of folk, especially since he may not be the sole political power on this united Anurian community. But, when does that stop political figures anyway, particularly the religious types :P

I've literally never understood parents who don't let their like... TODDLER age kids play with kids of the "opposite" gender. Like wtf do you think your 3 year old is gonna get up to????? News flash heteros people aren't literally born sexual beings and you don't need to protect your sweet baby girl from the boy from her preschool class.

Which also makes boy/girl friendships later on actually LESS TABOO meaning, if your kid grew up being friends with OTHER GENDERS, they will be less likely to see others solely as potential romantic/sexual objects and can actually have positive normal friendships with people of any sex or gender. Who fucking knew that if you don't treat something as FORBIDDEN then it stops being so appealing, especially if you have a rebellious streak
