Are you gonna make the playlists for the heartless characters public? Or has that already happened and I just missed it
AH I haven't shared my character-specific Heartless playlists as some of the songs on them were SUCH specific picks that they risk being highly spoilery lol 😅
(For funsies tho I'm gonna put some of my non-spoilery-est top tracks for each character under the cut! 🎶)
HEARTLESS: Heartbeat – The Midnight
ALCHEMY: Transform – Julianne Hough (this was the very first track on Alchemy's playlist it is SO them)
FLINT: Change Your Heart Or Die – The Midnight
EIRA: In The Cold – Vincent Lima
DOPPEL+GLASS: Call Them Brothers – Regina Spektor (And "Still Here" from Treasure Planet, but especially the Alex Ubego version)
RIVER: Machine Learning – Janani K. Jha
CREED: Hunting Witches – Kyle Stibbs
LORELEI: Siren Song – Lambia (Also: Ado’s version of Unravel 😩👌)
DIANA: Hell’s Comin’ With Me – (the Chloe Breez cover in particular)
LANCE: Blood Upon The Snow – Hozier (Most of his playlist is the kind of metal and high energy tunes you might expect for him, so this one's a fun outlier :3c )
BANDY: HARLEQUIN! – Vana
DOCK: Eye For An Eye – 8 Graves
#daily dork#heartless#abd illustrates#playlists#music#also: always v much open to suggestions if y'all have any tunes you associate with any of the Heartless crew! (^^)/#it was so hard to pick just one track apiece here omg sgfkhsfd#but these all inspire some fun mental images for me so hopefully they're a fun listen! (^^)/#fun fact my other pick for Bandy would've been that work song from Trolls 3#also I mention that particular cover of Still Here 'cause it's the closest a voice has sounded to how I imagine Doppel's voice#like its not exact but there's somethin about the tone and mix of softer moments along with the teeeeny amount of grit at the beltier parts#feels like it's D+G's range so it's nice to listen to when I'm trying to brainstorm anything about them

Eyes on the road
Summary: A car ride with your favourite lieutenant.
Relationship: Simon “Ghost” Riley x GN!Reader
Word Count: 648
Notes:
Fluff
Mr. Riley strikes me as the kind of person who will listen to country music while driving and tapping the steering wheel rhythmically in the process.
My sideblog got shadowbanned so I’ll be posting my fics here until the issue gets resolved (if it gets resolved).
————————————————————————
You’ve been driving for two hours straight, and the silence between you grows longer as the miles pass. Despite your efforts to engage him in conversation, he appears content to remain silent, responding only with brief, cryptic remarks.
“Where are we going?”
“That’s confidential information.”
“How long until we arrive?”
“We’ll get there when we get there.”
Touché.
He was deep in thought, with his right hand steady on the steering wheel and his left arm resting casually on the open window. He had an air of confidence about him, seemingly able to take control of anything that life may throw his way; missions, injuries, cars, you. Oh boy, the power he has over you.
Every time he had to shift gears, he did with such poise and grace, releasing the wheel but securing it with his thigh so it wouldn’t drift away. You watched him every time he did that, anticipating the moment he’d place his hand on you instead.
His mask obscures his face, but you know there is concealed road rage lurking beneath. Now and then, a reckless driver would surpass you, and he would mutter a curse under his breath as his gaze followed the car. Other times, he would instinctively put his hand in front of you, inches away from your chest, acting as a human seatbelt.
Inches away...
The scenery is, well, nothing: an endless expanse of dirt, as far as the eye can see. And with the quiet between you, the boredom begins to set in. You figured a little music would lighten up the mood, maybe even spark a discussion of some sorts. You turn on the radio, shuffling through the stations until you find one that works. You turn up the volume and turn your attention back on the road. Ghost doesn’t comment on your action but has a lot to say about your taste in music.
“It’s shite,” he mutters under his mask.
“It’s the only one that works,” you comment back.
“It’s still sh*t,” he repeats.
“We don’t have any other option, Lieutenant.”
“There’s always another option, soldier,” he explains. “In this case, you could always turn it off.”
Is this an order or a suggestion? Better go with the safe option. You move your hand towards the radio button, but he catches it mid-air, his touch sending shivers down your spine.
“Don’t; let it play if you like it,” he whispers, his eyes still focused on the road, “my preferences should never dictate yours.”
In that moment of unexpected kindness, you turn to look at him.
You become immediately drawn to his profile and begin to examine any characteristic you can distinguish beneath his balaclava.
His brows appear sparse and washed out; is that genetic or permanent damage from a fire? His dark brown eyes are half-closed, emitting a sense of melancholy; that, or he’s tired from all the driving. He suddenly lets out an audible sigh. Your eyes travel to his lips; you can distinguish a faint outline through the stretched fabric. His Adam’s apple moves with vigour every time he swallows. His collarbone, chest, arms, abd-
“Eyes on the road,” he commands. Shit; caught red-handed once again.
You lightly cough in embarrassment and obey. Neither of you speaks.
As you continue driving down the road, he suddenly takes his hand off the wheel and goes straight for the volume button, turning it up.
You turn to look at him in confusion.
“It’s Johnny Cash,” he explains, shrugging.
“Johnny Cash, huh? Any relation to… John Price?” you quip, trying to lighten the mood.
“You and your fucking jokes,” he says with a hint of a chuckle in his voice.
And with that, the silence between you settles once more. But this time, it’s no longer oppressive, no longer boring. It’s a comfortable silence, with Johnny Cash speaking volumes about you and your lieutenant’s silent bond.

The Golden Arches, internationally recognised symbols of American corporate might and cultural diffusion, became in March 2002 the target of young Egyptians frustrated with what they perceived to be America's complicity in the onslaught of Israel's Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, against the Palestinian Authority. McDonald's was not the only foreign establishment to suffer broken windows; photographs circulated on the web also included images of a similarly vandalised KFC restaurant in Cairo. Still, none can deny the special place held by McDonald's in the global fast-foodscape. In Egypt, the targeting of the Arches is particularly interesting, as it follows on the heels of a controversy that cut to the very heart of intersections between indigenous and imported mass culture, and popular, if somewhat disreputable, music was at the epicentre of the commotion.
A year earlier, the fast-food giant found itself compelled to scrap a remarkable advertising campaign designed to promote a new, indigenous product. [...] [E]fforts to market an Egyptian national dish became enmeshed directly with Middle East diplomacy—and its breakdown—through an ill-fated effort to link an 'authentic Egyptian' product to an 'authentic Egyptian' pop singer. The very attraction of that singer from a marketing standpoint lay in his recent recording of a potent political anthem which had quickly become a smash hit in Egypt's informal popular music sector.
In the spring of 2001, at the height of his career, veteran shbi singer Shaaban Abd al-Rahim suddenly discovered that his television advertisement for the new McFalafel had been cancelled, reportedly following complaints from the New York-based American Jewish Congress over the corporation's use of the singer to promote its product. This cancellation was a response to Shaaban's recent blockbuster hit, 'I hate Israel' (Ana bakrah Isra'il [أنا بكره إسرائيل]), a pulsating rap number that had made him, after some twenty years of steady work at the lower end of the wedding circuit, a figure of national renown, the anointed 'interpreter of the pulse of the Egyptian and Arab street' (Abd al-Hadi 2001, p. 39). Even more incongruously it had made him a figure to be courted, albeit not always with great appetite, by the cultural and artistic intelligentsia that had heretofore scorned him.
The story of Shaaban Abd al-llahim, his smash hit, and the McDonald's fiasco raises a variety of questions about the relationship between popular 'folk' music and official culture in Egypt. It points to the thriving popularity of a quasi-legitimate 'cassette culture' (Manuel 1993) in a broadcast market that is still rigidly controlled by state authorities and, perhaps even more, to potent political expression at the edge of sanctioned propriety (Gordon 2001). In addition, it points to the changing world of corporate sponsorship in an ever more globalised national economy, and the changing relation of art/artist and song/singer to the fast moving world of advertising. The contest over sponsorship of this particular product—McFalafel—points to the persistent power of national symbology, especially culinary and musical tropes, even if the former has, in this case, been constructed by the extra-territorial multi-national fast-food chain, and the latter co-opted to promote the product. Finally, the very deliberate turn to a singer like Shaaban Abd al-Rahim for product sponsorship, especially for a commercial to be broadcast on state-run television, underscores weakening boundaries between what is 'classically' approved and what is still considered to be 'vulgar' or 'low-class' music, however popular it may be among wide sectors of the population.
—Joel Gordan, "Singing the Pulse of the Egyptian-Arab Street: Shaaban Abd Al-Rahim and the Geo-PopPolitics of Fast Food." Popular Music 22.01 (2003), pp. 73-88.

Hi! You asked for iwbft angst and I'm just back from the club so I am here to make myself sad :)
All I can think of I'd jimmy and his sister and the headcanons I have about that. So here you go
It's not that jimmy was the favourite of his grandparents but he needed a lot more tlc than his sister did. With coming out as trans at a really young age and that needing advocated fir, and his anxiety/paranoia, and him being like a music prodigy (and also him height just Youngest Child tm). His sister had classic oldest daughter syndrome and just had to go along with all this when it seemed like nothing in her life was as interesting. (Also she probably remembers a time where their parents were together more than himmy but I don't have thoughts about that)
When she was going to university she choose the farthest place she could. She loves her family, but she needed to distance herself from them (and jimmy specifically). When in school all she was known as was "Jimmy's sister" weather that was a good thing or not, and she wanted the chance to be her own person
Jimmy on the other hand is desperate for her attention/approval! Je doesn't make it public thay he has a sister ciz she doesn't want that but he will bring her up to people who know all the time.
"Oh my sister loves lasagne" "my sisters favourite colour is purple" "Oh my sister is studying that in America" etc etc
When the ark start doing shows in America jimmy very hopefully messages her to ask her to come. She...isn't fussed, but says something like "Yeah, maybe, if I'm free", and to Jimmy that is a undeniable yes! And he's ecstatic!
Rowan and Lister (as Jimmy defenders through abd through!) Have complicated feelings about her.
I feel like her and rowan are very similar, but because they grew up together worh jimmy hes like a second brither, but rowan is also very stubborn and especially when ut comes to Jimmy so she is the worst in his books (compensating because Jimmy can't see it). Lister Ron the other hand, I feel like she clocked listers crush from the get go and very much h does not approve of the relationship. Not that Lister cares, he can see right through her just as easily, lister knows what it's like to have difficult siblings relationships, so they have their own understanding.
Lister is the one to actually convince her to come see them perform. Nit that jummy needs tk know that.
She crys during Joan of Ark.
Okay that's all I hot goodnight 🥰
AAAAA i loove all of this !! we actually have such similar ideas about her ?? me and my friend talk have like turned her into an oc together lolsies weve been calling her naomi hehe
and i sooo agree with the older sister syndrome. i feel like she would've had a big inferiority complex when it comes to jimmy, since he becomes successful at such a young age, and while shes doing well in school, its just sort of average compared to him. also with her being older im sure she has more memories of their parents, so the move between living with them and their grandparents may have been harder for her. and jimmy not really understanding why she seeks their approval so much when their not even around for them.
but even though their relationship is complicated she does care about him. like she looks out for him in school from the sidelines and i think she really does not get a long with lister after the suitcase incident. rowan was kinda scared of her growing up because she just seemed annoyed by everything 24/7 bless. also i can imagine a younger jimmy being like can we play mario kart :( can we play just dance :( can we play minecraft :( like hes just always been the annoying younger sibling even though if she were to bring it up hed be like well i dont remember it like that so ur being dramatic :/ (shes just saying it how it was)
also i when shes older i think she travels a lot for work !! in my head shes a sports journalist and i totally did not make this a thing so i could make her and kou matsuoka (that one girl from free) lesbians together. i think she comes out to him or the gujarat family holiday and hes like 'no way ur dating an olympic swimmer ????' and shes like. 'even better. an olympic swimmer's SISTER !!' also in my head she looks like camilia from 'i love amy' but with curlier hair
#iwbft#i was born for this#osemanverse#jimmy kaga ricci#jimmy's sister#making that a tag bcus i WILL be talking abt her more on her now

I thimk megalopolis was one of the most shitass movies ive ever seen but im glad i saw it in theatres and am gonna see it again with my sister thursday like the best way to describe it would be that it feels like a bad adapatation of a book that doesnt exist there was so much straight up stupid moments in it it felt like unreal spoilers if any1 even gives a shit
Theres this scene where adam drivers gets shot but his face heals with the power of the megalon and he has his face in wraps and when he takes his wraps off and reveals his healing face it plays THE most generic indian and tabla musical cue that in no way matches with the rest of the soundtrack and puts this fucking snapchat ass filter where theres like doubles of him behind him to his left and right infinitely going abd i was like is this fuckinh chowder or some shit. Ill never say the movie was good tho cause theres something i see no one talking abt atleast on letterboxd presumably cause they love deepthroating autuer dick so much even (or especially) when they kno the auteur in question is a creep but there was this weird subplot where there was this pop star with a like "virgin teen" image and they leaked a sex tape of her and the main character so the main character was arrested for being a pedophile but then it was immediately after revealed that the tape was faked (?) (They never say how they just say it was faked) and that the pop star was actually not from america abd was in her 20s. This whole subplot is obv coppola trying to exonerate all his sex offender best friends and its such a gross kneejerk response like why say the tape was fake but then also say oh shes a bad person dishonest liar too lol. Then when its showing news reports of it it cuts to her lile having changed her image to a like pop punk image and making more sexually suggestive music instead of conservative clean music like b4 so its supposed to be like she just moved onto the next image unfazed cause shes a liar its such a cringe subplot and it happens in the span of like 15 mins and is never mentioned again and very clearly is just supposed to be a rebuttal to accusations and scandals sooo fkn embarrassing especially given the fact hes been trying to get this movie made his whole life LOL the two (yes 2) other women in the movie are also treated super sexistly like the main characters love interest has no personality aside from always standing behind her mans artistic vision and passion and "completing" him then the aubrey plaza character is just supposed to be the sexy woman who sleeps with any1 for power like coppola def most sexist guy alive ever the fact he made that movie dedicated it to his wife at the end yup this man is going to hell. Probably the hardest movie to talk abt cause its not u kno deserving of praise the only frame of reference is camp rly like in that same ballpark not so bad its good but just a very wtf type of movie. Im also scared cause shia labeouf was in this doing a type of scary dennis hopper character (coppola even saying working with him reminded him of hopper) and obv this film flopped and is not gonna make any1 famous since even the acting was p bad from every1 or just v disconnected and unrelatable on a human level but watching this has me worried that labeouf is gonna thrive with piece of shit directors by using the dennis hopper/klaus kinski method of having ppl praise ur "energy" when its just that u only take roles where u play sadistic fucks cause ur a sadistic abusive fuck so ppl get convinced ur a great actor when ur not even acting.

I think we should stop talking about weight loss or gain. that shits both personal and subjective.
instead let's be proud of taking care of our health and our body without the need to specify the details.
I'm eating well. I'm healthy and I go for small walks! that's great!
i have been told many times that exercise can brighten up your mood... uhm they're wrong. it won't.
not unless you're in a good mood. which kinda beats the whole argument 😂.
again I won't pretend to be some role model or give cliche advice. it's just me sharing my experience.
going for a walk makes it worse for me... but I think it has been a while since I went to go for a walk because I simply... wanted to? it has always been a chore or an obligation because I'm responsible for my health so I must force myself to fuck off and go for a walk I never enjoy.
I always thought of it as "the cure" or like medicine.
it's really not. specially when you force yourself.
sure it regulates blood its supposed to help you loosen up but uhm... not if every time your heart is about to burst out of your chest with anxiety.
if I'm having a bad day my mood brightens up when I disassociate to music and animations.
it's like a small brain reset. it's probably not healthy but with walking my brain gets over stimulated and bored at the same time.
walking makes it worse. unless I listen to music.
but then I'd walk straight into a car accident so we can't exactly rely on autopilot lili to run this body while I go daydreaming 😂.
I dunno. I never really found fitness gun unless I was in a good mood.
right now I'm glad I'm in that mood to do it!
idk how my brain did it or what I did to make this feeling magically manifest but I suddenly don't feel like wanting to flop on the floor all day! yay???
brain I fucking hate you. you mean to tell me neurotypical people feel like they can do stuff and just ... DO IT!?. like this feeling I'm having rn due to the meds?
BRAIN FUCK YOU.
but also like thanks for working a lil better.
it's okay buddy I know you're like an unbalanced dark souls playable characters.
you magic stat is off the charts but your stamina and defense is 0 with avrage speed and agility...
BUT YOU'RE OVERPOWERED IN MAGIC ABD WOULD BEAT GOD...
if you could walk.
yeah. don't worry I see your strength brain. but can we please remember to appreciate these small steps?
look I'm probably not going to feel like this forever.
idk what makes my executive decide to function but right now it's in the mood to do it.
SO MAKE IT FUCKING COUNT!

So basically Chris has been in MA this whole time/Thanksgiving holiday week with his FAMILY ABD FRIENDS. While soba has been at home in PT with her family and friends. Yup! Checks out!
🤷🏻♀️ I just have a cookie jar and know things 😂
It appears that “things aren’t always what they seem. You can’t believe everything you see on my face…”
Sorry, musical break.
Thanksgiving is the holiday that gets you ready for Christmas. He said it himself. Guess reflection time is over.

Do you like old synthpop? Then OHM: The early gurus of electronic music is something for you!!
The whole compilation is on Spotify(some songs missing) and YouTube (3 songs missing) and probably other sites too :) it consists of the most important early composers and pieces from many different places, time periods and styles.
Some pieces uses one of the first ever electronic musical instruments: the theremin! It was invented by soviet musician-physicst Leon Theremin around 1920, therefore the name. This instrument is space-controlled, so you play it by moving your hand around it, not really touching it. It looks really cool!
In the first track (CD:1), "Tchaikovsky: Valse Sentimentale" (2:08) 1977, Clara Rockmore, a true pioneer in space-controlled electronic music, plays the Theremin together with her sister Nadia Reisenberg, who plays piano. This piece is truly magnificent and strange-soundig :D Rockmore actually was Leon Thermins student and protégé in the beginning of her career!
Before this gets way too long I must tell about one of my favourites in CD:1, which is the 4th track: "Williams Mix" (5:42) 1952 by John Cage. ...... And at the end of it you can hear a long abd roaring applause, which is very much deserved, of course :D Chris Cutler (musician, composer) tells about this piece in the booklet included with the CD collection.
"Williams Mix" follows a score five hundred pages long, which has never been reproduced, each page made up of two ten-inch graphic sections. The tape is to be laid directly on the page, which is a pattern showing all the edits and the angles at which tape should be cut, as well as recipes for constructing the sounds each piece of tape should contain -Cutler, 2000
The score he's talking about (a piece of it pictured above, x) is a sort of pattern or guide for making the pieces of magnetic tape that was used, making it possible to split, splice and edit the sounds. Around 600 tracks of sounds from for example the country, the city, wind- and electronically produced sounds. (X) This took about a year and was absolutely groundbreaking work! More info here!
If you liked that one, "He Destroyed Her Image" (1:59) 1973 by Charles Dodge is also a mix of different sounds, but made with newer and more advanced technology, and it's far more melodious and, well, structured. It plays with words like a poem, and Dodge has the following to say about it (from the booklet, source below):
I'd never been able to write very effective vocal music, and here was an opportunity to make music with words. I was really attracted to that. It wasn't singing in the usual sense. It was making music out of the nature of speech itself. I've always liked humor and had an attraction to the bizarre, the surreal. These poems were almost dreamlike in their take on reality. So that made me feel at home somehow. -Dodge, 2000
This is my favourite in CD:3 and the vibes are really amazing! I think thats all for this post but if you are interested, just ask me and I'll write about more of the songs! The whole collection has 42 in total :)
Sources for images are provided in the main text or ALT text, as well as links with other sources for information. Source for the booklet that came with the CD: OHM: the early gurus of electronic music: 1948-1980 (2000) by Thomas Ziegler and Jason Gross, ellipsis arts.

It's of ourse sad seeing beetlejuice leave broadway, but all good things must come to an end one day and it was bound to happen, of course we prolly rather it be later than sooner.
I've been mostly working and keeping to myself but keeping myself updated with the tag and the musical and watching everything close and everyone say goodbye makes me incredibly emotional but im excited for the future of the tour and different productions after as well as possible future beetlejuice media. The tour is coming to my local theater and im incredibly excited to see it with my friend/roomate and making sure to save for seats and merch.
Were of course gonna see the fandom dwindle and die down more than it has because understandably there's no new media of beetlejuice out like before the musical and unfortunately because of precious fandom drama which I deeply regret taking part in. Shifting interests is definitely normal though and even happens to me even earlier in the fandom with some other special interests and hyperfixiations I've had, but I still love beetlejuice so much the musical, movie, and cartoon and despite fandom bullshit in the past the musical has made me so happy and reignited my love for one if my favorite films and my favorite t*m burton film.
Beetlejuice and of course beetlelands means so much to me and i love the musical for also helping me discover beetlelands one if my all time favorite ships and definitely influenced my artistically and made me realize i have a type when it comes to shipping(lol) even though lately I haven't really been able to draw or write much of anything due to personal reason including working alot and to put it lightly being in a slump but beetlelands has given so many ideas for aus and stories abd made me want to write again amongst other things because of my love for all the beetlejuice stories abd how long Beetlejuice has been in my life. And even despite fandom bullshit i appreciate all those things and the good memories i do have of the fandom and making beetlejuice art and stories, etc.
With that being said I really do miss making Beetlejuice art and stories including for all my au's since its a personal favorite hyperfixiation of and special interest of mine and I never really got to do a lot of art and writing of stories i wanted to tell and since its a personal favorite I still have many ideas rattling around in my brain that i'd love to share with anyone who's interested. I've been telling myself I wanted to draw and write for beetlejuice for a while now but in general just have been in a bad me tal place and just not happy with anything I make on top of life with work and other stresses. I cant promise im gonna update this blog very soon but im definitely gonna be here updating with with beetlejuice stuff like my writing, art, etc.
Since Beetlejuice is something that makes me personally happy and has been a favorite of mine for a big part of my life. Due so personal reasons as well its been a little hard to make anything beetlejuice related in the past few months as well een though I really wanted to. Im planning to rewrite and redo some aus, i have some new au ideas abd plenty of stories to tell here in my little Beetlejuice corner so if you're interested ill always be here, maybe alot sometimes I am trying to update stuff more here an make stuff for beetlejuice and beetleands, mostly for myself because it makes me happy but I'm happy when people like my beetlejuice art, writing, au, ideas, etc. And I do really appreciate the few people coming to this blog who like what I post I promise im not ignoring you I've just been burned out emotionally in to many ways and not been the best mentally in a while and I've felt terrible talking about things i was gonna draw/write and not doing it for a long time, not even just for beetlejuice but other fandoms.
And if adults in the fandom want to talk or ask about any of my aus and Beetlejuice stories, have requests, or want to talk beetlejuice or beetlelands my ask box is open I love exchanging ideas, art, stories, roleplaying, etc. I also have my main and a few other fandom blogs here on Tumblr and other sites I'll be on as well if anyone is interested.
Im mainly in a small corner here making my own beetlejuice art that makes me happy though and I do have many things id like to update here including my beetlelands songs of the day au, art, and even some fics when i can get the guts to actually write lol but I've been wanting to put my beetlejuice aus is different forms including trying my hand at writing fics again. I welcome anyone who's interested in that here but this is really mostly for my and what makes me happy and im not interested in any petty fandom drama or fighting tho I just like to mame stuff about my blorbos. Since this is also a general fandom blog for spooky Henry Selick and to a very lesser extent T*m Burton stories and I had previously planned to do a extended universe au type deal there with be other spooky fandoms here like corpse bride, nightmare before christmas, coraline, and even wendell and wild. And any other spooky things related that make me happy so if you're interested I'll be here so stay tuned, and goodbye Beetlejuice broadway! You've been a great part of my life and made me love Beetlejuice even more I look forward to the future of the actors of the musical, the musical when it tours especially when I can see it, and the future of Beetlejuice in general, and eve the possible future of the fandom like hopefully new fans discovering Beetlejuice and old fans re-descovering it or even fans of one of the Beetlejuice medias discovering the other.💜🖤💚

Part 3 made me sad/emotional at the same time abd i want to give both of them a hug.
Matty clearly wants to settle down with a partner and have kids but he also wants to keep touring and making music
But he looks at adam and realises that you can't have it all at the same time and the tradeoff will always leave him unsatisfied no matter which of the two he chooses to prioritise
Sometimes i wish life would give us exactly what we want and when we want it ,even if its just for a day..just to know if how we have imagined things to be will genuinely make us happy .
I think you’re exactly on point here cuz, in the Zane Lowe interview, he talked about how he spent so much of his early career trying to have “all different kinds of love” at the same time. Love from the fans, love from the band, love from his romantic partner. And how he realized that it kind of makes you divided and it’s best to try to focus on one at a time in order to be as present as you possibly can be during each one. So, he’s gotta be happy that the band is the most successful it’s ever been cuz we know this man loves his job so much.
But he’s also in his mid thirties. And he’s been single for a while (before Taylor) so, it must be on his mind to wonder about the future. I will say it’s hard for everyone like this one thing we could all relate to. I’ve had to leave so much behind in order to be where I am right now. Like with getting a job that requires you to move or whatever. Having to relocate for a partner. Everyone’s gotta make that choice eventually. And it’s never easier regardless of the option you end up going with.
But Matty will always have love in his life and he has such a big heart that’s so full of love so I think he’ll sort it out. I don’t know when and it’s anguish in the meantime, but he’ll probably be okay. Probably.

Who are your favorite YouTubers (in any genre)?
okay I'll try (heavy emphasis on try) to stick to youtubers and not things I watch on youtube bc I already talk about CR too often
in the gaming genre (which is what I watch the most):
rintaichou: aaaaa my fave. brings me much joy. so much so that I'm occasionally on twitch watching her streams. anyway: mostly genshin, she's a very impressive and dedicated amber main. the editing on her vids is always very nice.
tuonto: I literally only watch his horror playthroughs on the second channel. they're amazing and this guy's "ok bro ig" energy makes everything not scary at all.
on booktube:
the reading leo: always so pleasant to listen to. her videos are my favourite lunch background noise (but I actually listen lmao) and it's always all very pretty.
cari can read: I'm sorry I'm here for the acotar vids and the chaotic reading vlogs. she's hilarious and her vids are fun.
idk how to name this. normal people:
kenniejd: her bad movies and a beat series has such a grip on me it's unreal. especially with movies I've seen. (also good movies and a glam is very nice. loved watching her gush about the menu bc me too girl.)
dan howell: I'm just your average sad homosexual ofc course I like him.
art corner:
abd illustrates: I'm an artsy dnd-loving homosexual... of course I love him. anyway his art is beautiful, the vids are amazing, he has been a huge motivation for me to keep studying anatomy and shit.
as for music (barely counts, I know):
sunsetdreams: these playlists are lifesavers and I've never worked faster than with the assignment speedrun ones. also the roadtrip playlist is so good. overall just good shit.
meltberry/meltycube: my favourite. pretty voice. nice lyrics. also good with vocaloid. i. good music, man.

have you ever tried animation ? i feel like your style would look really cool animated
i would love 2 try and animate something one of these days now that i found a free animation software the problem is just having dieas
ive had a few concepts crop up recently but nothing like solidified because i dont have time 2 put into them (juggling commissions and sewing projects) but if youd like to know whats banging around in my head ive been thinking about a DrakeNieR animation to Hello Strobe
youtube
and a more general concept one has been bouncing in my head for オレンジに明日はない for a while
youtube
and a papalymo and yda one has been in my mind forever to goodbye everyone
youtube
oh and another nier one to astronauts
youtube
im realizing i actually have a lot of ideas im just not committed. i have like a bunch of oc centric ones as well rolling in my hjead
i always have ideas in my head of lightly animated music videos of some kind floating i am just in a very abd habit of not liking long-term projects that require weeks/months of effort because i like to get immediate release. maybe ill give into it one day

yeah I don’t think the mixxpop concept works. it could if done right but idt jyp has what it takes. personally I love experimental loud music but I understand it’s not everyone’s taste. the problem with a specific music style becoming popular is that everyone else starts following that trend which alienates a whole group of people who don’t like that style. then the industry becomes over saturated with that style and people get bored bcs everything sounds the same and they want something new. after the huge amount of noise music we’ve had in recent years, if current kpop trends tell us anything it’s that the korean gp want simple straightforward music. jyp making a groups entire concept non-gp-friendly is such a weird choice and you’re right, it’s like jyp is wasting the girls time
just bcs next level worked extremely well for aespa doesn’t mean that same success will translate into another group doing a similar style song. so making it nmixx’s whole concept is a huge risk and I don’t think it paid off. imo it immediately puts a huge barrier in the way for non fans to enjoy their music which makes it harder for them to be successful, which again is wasting their time
everytime I hear an nmixx song I always think that if they were 2 separate songs they would eat. the random 20 second change up on this new song was so unnecessary. make that a whole separate song and it would do numbers on kcharts too. tbh next level itself was a risky song but the difference is is that sm has been doing that style for over a decade so they know how to execute it. jyp does not. so atp the mixxpop concept is a hindrance to them
i don’t think the issue is that it’s noise music per se, but it’s the switch up thing itself. while that is fun and interesting on paper, i think making the switch up thing the core of the group’s discography and concept is restrictive to the group’s future because it hinders their longevity, since neither switch-ups nor noisy music have much shelf life left, and hinders any growth and opportunity of experimentation in the future. them not being gp-friendly would not be that much of an issue bcs neither were nct abd skz at their debut, but both groups cemented themselves before noise music took off in kpop, whereas nmixx debuted when the trend was already dying out
i also think the switch ups in nmixx’s songs are that well executed structurally, and the production is not great and does not do justice to the members’ vocals. the girls are SUCH great vocalists but i think oftentimes the production drowns them out a bit. u can hear their skills on songs like cool or love me like this or roller coaster (which don’t have switch ups), but most of their tts don’t do them justice. also, even aside from the music, i think also visually they lack cohesion and don’t spark interest (jyp is terrible with visuals tho so that’s not surprising)
jyp may be one of the big 3 but as a company they tend to follow other companies and their trends and rely on them, rather than setting new ones. and they do so especially for the branding of their ggs - they do market research to discover what’s the new trend of the moment and rely on that instead of fleshing out their own strategies. but while it worked in the past (with twice and itzy), i think it’s failing bad with nmixx. begging them to throw this whole concept away
