the thing is i’ve literally been thinking abt this for months like. this was part of a convo i had explaining this whole arc back in january:

so like. literally for remus this whole experience has been. forced 2 work w a guy who represents everything u hate -> start 2 realize that maybe there's more 2 him & begin 2 empathize w him -> hate urself 4 it & hate him for it -> conflicting loop of feelings where u care about him but u hate that u care so u try 2 stop it but u can't stop it. figure once ur done w this mission u won't ever have 2 see him again so just push everything down

and THEN the mission goes sideways and suddenly s is right there. and they need to get him 2 work w the order. and the thing is s was sponsoring him for a year and a half. like they had a year and a half of slowly developing this relationship that r absolutely did not want but was unable to stop feeling things about and was made even more painful by the fact that he knew it was all built on a lie--like even when he did let himself feel something for s, the follow-up to that was immediately like 'oh but this is all fake he wouldn't act this way or be like this if he knew what was really going on.'

so then s is there at order hq and r's walls are immediately back up & he's putting all his effort into reinforcing them. he's like yeah that year and a half was all fake it was just an act none of it was real and i don't care about u. & all he wants is 2 ignore s & move on but he's right there! working w the order! befriending lily! but r is still like. well he's just playing along til he can escape surely that's it. and then suddenly hq gets attacked and it's just the five of them in this little flat and r is still trying 2 ignore him & keep his walls up but he is also still inexplicably drawn 2 him and can't entirely fight it...and then they finally put some of the animosity aside & start working together & he can't ignore the fact that. hey maybe some of that goodness i saw before was real...and even the badness is no longer entirely the same like he's changed! he's grown! he's still changing and growing and like r says when he finally confesses--it isn't fair! (does he say that? i actually can't remember if i ended up including that line or not lol. anyway) like it isn't fair because s is supposed to be evil and everything r stands against and everything he hates and yet he's come along and wormed his way into r's life and made r care about him and part of him hates that but most of him is like. falling in love. and unable to completely deny it anymore. and when they finally reach this breaking point where r essentially confesses all this it's like. he's letting his walls down, finally, after this slow and painful breakdown of all these defenses, and he's letting himself feel hopeful and be vulnerable and think ok maybe we can have something real.

and quite literally immediately after that it's ripped away. and not only ripped away, but r finds out that s knew, when they had that first kiss, that he was going to be losing his memory, that he planned to leave like this, and he still smashed through all r's fucking walls and made him hope they could have something real, knowing it wasn't true. so he's pretty fucking furious! and he's immediately swinging back into denial! the walls are back up reinforced he's like fuck sirius black i hate that man and his fucking mind games i don't fucking love him and i never will so i don't even fucking care that he's gone.

problem with that is. well of course it's not entirely true is it. and as much as he's trying not to care he can't help agonizing over what s could possibly be going through, whether he'll even make it through this alive or whether voldemort will just kill him, and he hates s for making him care and then putting himself in jeopardy like this because now r has to suffer this horrible burden of just worrying about him all the time, even when he doesn't want to, and he also has to carry this burden of wanting him back and wanting things back the way they were even though he knows it's not possible, and he hates s for making him want that, too.

so. yeah. all those conflicting feelings are there during the hookup. and in this ch he's like. giving up, essentially. like he is constantly battling the remnants of this love but for this one night he gives up the fight and just lets himself feel for s, and not all of it's good--the love and the hate are very much intertwined, at this point--but for one night at least he can pretend that he has him and they're together in the way they might have been, had s not left. and it's all confused and compounded by the fact that s doesn't know him, and still finds him, and still wants him, and yet clearly isn't treating this the same way--for s, it's just a casual one-night stand, and it hurts that he can't feel the way r is, but it also hurts when there are those flashes of something deeper, because recognizing the depth of what they might have had if they both just hadn't denied it for so long is incredibly painful. and r is feeling all this, but he isn't consciously processing it--he's shoving all of it down and away and going "this doesn't even matter, it's just a one night stand, i'm not going to care about this" etc. etc. fun!

this is random but this is my opinion on the westly and andy interaction and upcoming warning (andy and westly yaoi coming up) Westly and andy is kinda same a bit tho they never interacted , we can list the similarity between these two. number one: They're both got bullied by thier bosses, Westly was somehow got laughed at by peepers because he said he (westly) told peepers that he will catch wander and sylvia and peepers told westly then he will never catch wander and sylvia but the difference is this took place in season 1. for andy , He got told by peepers not to make that stupid show all over again but he didn't care until hater brong up the fact that it was ''stupid'' to make the show, i think both of them getting scolded by thier bosses in the similarity however the difference is andy wasn't seen until season 2. i wonder if andy didn't see westly in season 2 (what i think so far is i think westly didn't show up in season 2 like IN ALL EPISODES!!) but i think that during season 1 andy and westly were great friends and whati think is like westly was the reason that andy started making a channel about the struggles that watchdog faces during the skull ship. but then when westly faked his death, andy felt sad and missed his pal. but then i think in some time, andy knows westly is still alive, he's like the first watchdog to know that westly is alive and then erm they secretly uhh talk and do friend stuff!! DUDEE LITERALLY YES !!!! westley n andy r like two sides of the same coin. their arcs explore similar concepts but come to different conclusions - they both start off as watchdogs who r genuinely convinced of haters greatness and then both get proved wrong, andy sees how little hater actually cares abt the watchdogs, westley gets a taste of unconditional friendship n beauty of life beyond what the hater empire offers him, n - unlike andy - actually gets what he thought he wanted. but by that time it loses meaning to him. by that time he can finally see beyond that blind faith n adoration of hater. n so he leaves. andy on the other hand realizes that the community he built w the other watchdogs on the skullship is far more important to him than the truth that the guy he spent so long idolizing is kind of an asshole n couldnt give two fucks abt him. n so he stays. interstingly enough i feel like if the wathcdogs didnt rlly care abt his show either he wouldve ended up similar to westley, except wout two wandering do gooders to convince him to leave. n interestingly enough i feel like if initially westley had friends on the skullship n felt a sense of belonging w them like andy, maybe he wouldnt have left at all. maybe he wouldnt have even met wander n sylvia. in the end i think they both get the best conclusions they couldve had n im happy for them fr

some thoughts about sydney and carmy being the same character and how that impacts my feelings both positive and negative towards the syd/carmy ship. 

i’m not a sydcarmy anti like. i think ‘carmy and sydney shouldn’t date’ is kind of a watered down statement and i’m not into the notion that ‘he doesn’t deserve her’ or ‘she’s too good for him’ for a few reasons: 1. statements like this almost never take race into account. saw a lot of this when r*ylo was made canon and the prospect of f*nnr*y (which, imo f*nnr*y hopefuls were right to assume was the endgame after eps 7 and 8) was permanently shelved. i can give the benefit of the doubt when it’s gay fans shipping gay ppl together, though i’m not without my personal criticisms of that either, but like, i’m wary of the fact that there is still a lot of opposition to interracial relationships espesh when one person is black and especially especially when one person is a black woman. basically, i think you can even take ~heterophobia~ too far if you’re not aware of intersectionality.

2. good people make poor decisions all the time lmao. and i love when they do it in fiction. tickles the brain, inflames the loins yk. idt it makes sense to suggest sydney is above that when she tells us repeatedly that she fucked up multiple times and that’s how she landed in her current situation. when she’s passionate about something and when she thinks she’s doing the right thing, she’s shown to be reckless. this is something carmy notes many of her past employers said about her. so i’m not about that being the reason. 

3. carmy is basically the exact same - an essentially good person who made a bunch of poorly thought-out decisions as a result of his passion and his pain. 

point 3 is where my op on this ship goes. they’re... they’re the same guy! they’re the same girl!! they’re the same sad, hurt, tortured artist girlboy, capable of great joy and wanting to share that joy with others but stunted by their flaws, the treatment of them by others and the systems they inhabit. all to varying degrees depending on who we are talking about - which is another post. 

they’re at various points in those journeys. i think sydney realized pre-canon that she needed to take responsibility for her circumstances and find a way to make a better life for herself in the process of that she realized that her life goals of perfecting her craft and then using it to spread joy to others weren’t lost to her forever. 

carmy is just embarking upon that journey, and as fate would have it, the blueprint decides to take a job at his restaurant. i’m more interested in how they’re two sides of the same coin than i am in them hooking up - while still admitting that them hooking up could be another way of exploring how they are two sides of the same coin. 

and like, i don’t think it’s unbelievable that they could find each other and maybe a lesser show would have them do that and that could be interesting to me for those very specific reasons explained above, but i still think it’s lazy and tropey in a way that is kinda boring to me and i would straight up hate for it to happen any time soon because i wanna see them push-pull each other more in this boss-employee relationship they have. 

speaking of them being a boss and an employee i think that further proves my point about them being the same guy (gender-neutral) he is her boss but only technically because he owns the restaurant. it takes him what, three episodes to make her his right hand? “we want to change this restaurant right?... ... i will dial business, you are everything else” they have the same goals, and he makes them equals. she’s his closest ally in the restaurant, it’s them against the world, against their separate worlds and sometimes against each other (really, against themselves!)  so them getting together. kind of masturbatory of them, no? but would read a myooch masturbation fic abt them for that exact reason.

zane is literally so sweet about how he approaches questions so differently from other ppl to Alex like I love the way he's adapting to Alex's personality and he makes Alex comfortable

Mirrorball and do I wanna know being the ones that set the stage for the album really shows and that really makes me think about Alexs love for the aesthetics of music and whether consciously or not and it kinda goes back to all am albums are essentially a place that you go to not only musically even though that's the art medium you r using to get there it's also visually a place and Alex knows that and he sees that actively while writing and reflecting

Zane pointing out JUST how sad mirrorball is AND RADIO WANTED TO CUT THE INITIAL INTRODUCTION and we learn (if you haven't already by inferring) that theres a relationship between the intro and "don't get emotional" like....that's fucking amazing like I was thinking it but him saying it blew my mind like reacting to music within music...and how it's represented in the video somehow gave me even MORE astounding love for mirrorball and what it means to me, genuinely a breathtaking detail

This may be way to opinionated sorry lol but Alex saying the end of the tbhc tour made him want to get back out there so like wildly getting that energy in and it sounds like he may have been going for a big studio stadium sound ("let's do summat BIG" , "all down strokes") it reminds me of Halsey if you guys keep up with them about their decision to go with the softer sounds of "If I can't have love" after realizing they were to caught up in their angst or the negativity of their life in a bad way which made it's way into their single "nightmare" and it reminds me of the end of the tbhc tour and it hurts to think about but I'm glad, even though all these songs are gut wrenching it's being put out in a healthy way now after reflection and there's a lot of talk of that in this interview sometimes subtle sometimes not

Also I think adding on the fact that Zane said it sounds like the band is fighting there way out of the songs but are not,if this isn't to far fetched kinda way reminds me of how reserved (prone to very outlandish/lh levels of self editing/self control)Alex is and how he's trying to combat that more recently (in interviews and in song) though they are small changes they make quite mighty strides in the long run

Love the ideas of the band itself being an instrument for something grander on this album it's like it's supporting an idea or a feeling and thats just how large that feeling is that the band itself is serving the songs and emotion

AGONY AND FEAR

ok so- c!tommy. we are all aware he’s traumatized, and experiences ptsd from being in traumatic experiences, this is basically fact.  while i’d like to talk how c!tommy experiences ptsd, i’d like to bring up a thing i haven’t seen mentioned a lot when it comes to c!tommy and his trauma- c-ptsd.  also known as complex-ptsd.   it occurs when someone experiences something traumatizing for a period of time.

which, as we know, the exile arc fits the description of “ongoing traumatizing experiences” pretty fucking well.  the exile was basically just two weeks of trauma.  for a lot of reasons too, there was dream abusing tommy, tommy being isolated, tommys own depression/suicidal thoughts/bad mindset in general.   this would all be considered a ongoing traumatizing experience(s).  

ptsd is very similar to c-ptsd in how it develops, but ptsd occurs after one singular traumatizing event . (by the way, the event doesnt have to be life or death, it could be something like witnessing or hearing about a shocking event!!!)

symptoms of c-ptsd overlap with ptsd a good lot of the time, due to them both being trauma disorders.  however, there are a few differences.  here r some symptoms of c-ptsd, alot of which are ptsd symptoms that alot ofpeople with c-ptsd experience as well

reliving the traumatic experience

avoiding certain situations 

changes in beliefs and feelings about yourself and others

hyperarousal (jitteriness, being on alert, etc)

somatic symptoms (physical symptoms with no underlying cause)

lack of emotional regulation 

change in consciousness

negative self-perception

difficulty with relationships

distorted reception of abuser

loss of system of meanings

now, i’ll go over which of these fit our boy c!tommy, and how they fit for some of them atleast.  i will only be talking about the things that are a result from c-ptsd, but also c-ptsd works where it coincides with other mental illnesses a person has so.  its also important to note that within a person these symptoms might not stay the same over time, and not everyone who has c-ptsd or ptsd is going to experience it the same.   (so not talking abt how pain affects him after dying in the prison, though that is a clear sign of ptsd) 

reliving the traumatic experience

tommy’s done this with exile a few times, when revisiting logstedshire, when he saw the craters in logstedshire, when visiting dream in prison, when during the disc finale dream dug the hole and told him to put his armour in, etc etc, he’s even described himself as being trembly in the fingers near plain biomes, while visting logsted he mentioned how shaky it made him to be there, and when he visited logsted one time he had an immediate reaction to seeing a hole in the ground that came off as him reliving it. flashbacks come in from sensations during a traumatic event, like sight, feeling, emotion, etc, etc.  it seems like with these he’s experiencing more of a reliving the emotions kind of thing. 

avoiding certain situations 

i was originally not gonna include this one, but thinking about it, he kind of does in a way.   this symptom also includes keeping yourself preoccupied to avoid thinking about it, which is something c!tommy seems to do alot.  with focusing on building the hotel, and doing tasks, or grinding for supplies instead of actually thinking about it.  

changes in beliefs and feelings about yourself and others

c!tommy uh. does this a lot.  a lot of it stems from how during exile tommy was isolated and made to believe no one cared for him, and even if that wasn’t true c!tommy never really got much closure on that.  hes not really trusting ppl that b4 were really close to him, tubbo n ranboo for example

lack of emotional regulation

this can also be described as uncontrollable feelings.  this is the one i’ve wanted to talk about the most i think- because this is really fits c!tommy.  he tends to lash out alot, for example burning the flower c!ranboo gave him, there are a bunch more examples of this that include him yelling at others, that one time when he spleefed c!jack 

negative self-perception

yeah.  theres a few examples of this one, the one that first comes to mind is that time during the green festival where he was talking about how he was worse than everyone he didn’t wanna be (including his abuser, c!dream...) .  theres now when he was building his tower by the prison when he was saying he couldn’t use the cobble because it was too him, and people didnt like the cobble. alot of this i think comes from c!dream making him feel basically worthless in exile :(

difficulty with relationships

  Yeah. um.  Alot for this one!!! The first to come to mind is c!tubbo.  c!tommy and c!tubbos relationship is very very wonky, especially considering recent events with tommy feeling like he is being replaced with c!ranboo.  (which he isnt by the way! he just feels as though, which is a valid feeling for him to have :]) .  another person that comes to mind is c!ranboo.  he’s even mentioned how his and ranboos relationship goes back and forth quite alot.  its not very surprising to see that he has difficulty with relationships especially considering a lot of the reason that the exile affected him so badly was because he felt so alone and was so isolated from his friends.  another thing that comes to mind, is when he made c!sam sign that contract promising hat he’d be his best friend and protect him.  theres most likely way more that can be said here, but this is the first stuff that comes to mind.  

distorted reception of abuser

um... yeah.  this one.  this can also be described as , “ becoming preoccupied with the relationship between you and your abuser. It can also include preoccupation with revenge or giving your abuser complete power over your life. “  which is um.  yeah.  c!tommy.  he’s mentioned how whenever he’s around c!dream he feels like hes conditioned to be his friend (which. yea . he was .).  right after he left logstedshire this was very very prominent, he was the biggest c!dream apologist around (/j), saying things like “dream didnt do anything wrong” and even explaining how he wasnt sure about things when it comes to c!dream, that his mind became flip floppy whenever he thought about him.   right now, hes focused on getting back at c!dream, not fully for revenge, mainly for his friends and how he doesnt want c!dream to go around killing and reviving everyone, but the point still stands.  (this all makes me extra sad because he had gone to the prison the second time in the first place to get closure :(( )

loss of system of meanings

Systems of meaning refer to your religion or beliefs about the world.  This can also refer to getting a strong sense of hopelessness or despair about the world, which as of late mainly c!tommy seems to have.  mainly referencing in his stream where he visited dreams bunker, he was asking what the point was of finding things that made him happy if dream was just going to get out the prison and destroy it.  theres also a few things that also go with this, in one stream while he burnt down ponks lemon tree for sam nook he said  "thats still decaying, but yknow, arent we all." and that one time when he gave that hotel invitation to c!techno he was like “ahahha we could die tomorrow anyway”

its also important to note that, “Any type of long-term trauma, over several months or years, can lead to CPTSD. However, it seems to appear frequently in people who’ve been abused by someone who was supposed to be their caregiver or protector. “ Which is.. fairly accurate in c!tommy’s situation.  c!dream might’ve not been a caregiver or protector necessarily but he was still someone that was looking after him yknow? 

there are most likely more things than what i layed out that show that c!tommy most likely also has cptsd, however this is just the stuff that i thought up :] add to the post if you’d like to!

(also this isn’t saying that c!tommy doesnt have ptsd, he had both ptsd and c-ptsd. also i am not an expert about ptsd, cptsd, or mental health in general, if i got any information wrong let me know)
