wow. we’re almost done. what a journey we’ve been on together, jon.
just finished season six and i liked it SO much more than season five. if every episode starred may it still wouldnt be enough for me but im obsessed with the thought that she didnt hesitate for a SECOND to play a moody teenage addict, not to mention the fact that she ate and left not a single crumb. i picture bobby and athena talking about the situation and may piping up from the other room like “i could pretend to be addicted to heroin and infiltrate the cult that probably killed someone” without even looking up from her book. i would die for her.
also, i dont think ive mentioned enough yet how much i adore the couples on this show? so many procedural dramas fish around for plotlines by turning couples against one another, but this show always feels like the couple as a team vs the world’s problems. it’s incredible that they actually give us dedicated scenes to healthy marriages, and like, that’s it. theres no storyline being forwarded, theres no plot point to uncover in the scene. the editor looked at the episode and said “hey, whats the point of bobby and athena going for a run with one another? or this scene of hen and karen watching love island? what does that do for the show?” and the writers said “the point is that they love each other and theyre happy? there does not need to be another reason?” i love that theyre using the space that you get from a multi-season show to really flesh out the relationships in a nuanced way. one of the reasons i really soured on greys anatomy after the early seasons is because they double dosed us with angst and drama. in 911, the writers understand that there’s enough trauma in the jobs theyre doing. they dont need to drop bombs into healthy relationships to keep our attention; the SITUATION keeps our attention, and then the characters keep our INTEREST. if every element of your show is just shock value drama and horrible things happening to beloved characters, the audience gets pretty overwhelmed pretty fast. 911 is a rare example of a long running procedural not falling into the soap-opera pipeline. okay sorry writer rant over. i just really love well written stories.
here we go into season seven. i cannot wait to catch up and i cannot wait to watch evan buckley finally kiss a man! i’ll check back in once im officially done but im so psyched to watch live on thursday with the rest of you guys.
may is a real unsung hero of season six i think. She's so much fun.
the relationships really are were this show soars above the rest. I'm glad you're enjoying that part of it too.
have fun with season seven! the cruise is sooooo well done. I can't wait for you to meet tommy again!

Söz Review
So I decided to actually write a review for Söz, because I'm so obsessed with the show and my last review was getting too long. Please be aware that there will be spoilers, though I'll try to avoid them.
Acting
Let me start by saying the cast was excellent. Yes there were some moments of stiff acting and some occasions where it was obvious a fight scene was staged, but overall it was perfect. The emotion the actors were able to convey was perfect. The chemistry between them, whether romantic partners, family, enemies, or brotherhood, they had great chemistry between each other.
Music and Cinematography
The music in this show is banging. There are several soundtracks that I've downloaded. The cast also has several scenes throughout the show where they sing and play instruments, and it's always lovely and serves to add depth to scenes and characters. The cinematography too was very professional. Very well done.
Plot
Going into this show, it's not hard to miss the fact that it's military propaganda. Not going to lie, I didn't care. I've seen shows with more. If you've ever watched a Chinese military drama, you'll see that this is pretty tame. There is a lot of patriotism in this show, where Turkiye is standing alone against the rest of the world. I love a good patriotic show that shows a love for country and culture. They did a good job of not saying what country they are fighting, or where the terrorists come from, so it's not like they're insulting anyone. It's very much good versus evil, especially in the first two seasons. In the third season, we get to see some shades of grey, when Yavuz is playing the spy and committing illegal deeds for his country. But even then he's still firmly established as the good guy who never hurts innocents.
Seasons 1 & 2
I cried so much in the season 2 finale. The last two episodes had me sobbing. And this is after Fatma and Hafiz. I couldn't handle my tears when it came to Bahar.
They do a really good of establishing the characters. From the start, when we are introduced to Yavus, we know that he is smart and quick, and a good shot. He is immediately introduced as a hero, and then a tragic figure when they fridged his fiance. But we also learn that he is kind and a good man, and in the moments before she died, that he very much loved Merve. From then we are immersed in his grief for the majority of season 1. But we also get to know his sense of duty and purpose to his country which drives him. I don't think I've seen a character I admire more. Yavuz was perfectly characterized by Tolga Saritas. The perfect big brother to his team. An exemplary leader.
We get to know the team from there, the seven central characters: Hafiz, Ates, Avci, Ceylak, Kesanli, Asik, Erdem. I have never seen a more supportive brotherhood. A good thing about this show being military propaganda is that they don't give the soldiers any evil storylines. These are good boys. They respect their superiors, their parents, their loved ones... It's a group of good men. Hafiz is the prophet, he's pious, and wholesome, and wise. Then there's Ates, our intelligence agent and master of disguise. He's the womanizer of the group. Then theres Avci, our hunter, and the last man to make me cry in season 3. Then there's Ceylak, our rookie, with an innocent quality that remains throughout the show which his team members try to keep alive. They treat him like the baby, he's their baby. Then Kesanli, our wild card. He's the cutest and gentlest boy who loves to play Cupid. Finally, of those under Yavuz's command, we have Asik, our medic with a beautiful voice. Lastly, we have their general, Erdem. If Yavuz is their big brother, Erdem is their father.
Then we have the girls. Bahar is our female lead, a doctor, empathetic, kind, soft. When we meet her, we immediately get the sense that she wants more from her life, that she wants to do more but she doesn't know how. Meeting Yavuz and going to the military base and meeting the people there gives her a new purpose. She launches into it without looking back. And it's admirable that she knows what she wants and goes after it immediately. She wasn't thrown off or hesitant. She didn't fear rejection, but waited for acceptance. Her story largely revolved around informing the audience of abuses people suffer, such as domestic violence, drugs, etc. Her relationship with Yavuz was not a major focus for either of them, but they gravitated towards one another naturally. I honestly do think that they were a great couple. They had physical attraction to one another, then were friends throughout season 1, then during season 2 they finally get together in the business transaction marriage trope, and fall in love throughout their time together.
Then we have Eylem, who we are introduced to as a reporter who turns out to be a spy. Lovely Eylem who starts out as a pain in Avci and the rest of the team's butt and then turns into their love/best friend. She is the bada** girl who can shoot a gun and take care of herself.
Then we have Su, Guler, and Nazli, all of whom, like Bahar, are mainly used to show aspects of war and civilian life that are impacted by terror. We get to see their love stories unfold which are cute and fluffy for the most part, although Nazli's got much more drama.
Season 1 and 2 were my favorite. It had it's flaws but I didn't really pay much attention to those because they were largely overshadowed by how good it.
Season 3
This season was my least favorite. But that's because the first two seasons left such a high bar. Season 3 was still excellent, but there were more noticeable problems. The first problem, is that Yavuz was isolated from his team. I'm not saying I didn't love him being a spy and taking on the bad guys all lone wolf. But I love him when he's leading a team, and you can tell that's what he loves doing. His scenes with the other team members when they go to him for advice are my favorite. He's their leader, and it's very obvious that's where he feels the safest and the most stable. They bring him security and sanity. By himself, he's still awesome and charming, but with his team you can tell he's unconquerable.
The second thing I didn't love was the virus plot. I get that it was designed to bring him and Darya close and have them share this secret, and about her making him want to live. But I wasn't such a fan. When they first brought it up, and he was suicidal and wanted to die, I thought that was a great line to follow up on, but then it became so much about the love line between him and Darya and giving Darya a reason to interfere in his life that I was iffy about it. This is not about Darya bashing, I just wish it wasn't a plot line. Although, I will attribute the bad decisions Yavuz makes this season to being in delirious pain from the virus. While they don't really show it, it's established that he's in constant nerve pain and is losing his senses, so I'll say that the bad judgment he shows on the occasions where there are any are due to the virus. Because I'll be honest, there were some occasions where my only response to something Yavuz said was "Ugh. you dumb bitch." I'll let you figure out which moments those are. I'm not one to blame the woman for the man being stupid, so I won't blame Darya, I'll blame the virus.
The third thing, not to sound judgmental, is Darya. It's not that I didn't like her. As a love interest, if it was just about her inspiring him to live, I would be okay with it. But with the whole, she's chasing after him to find out whether he's a criminal and not giving up about it even when they are in a relationship, I just thought was... uggh. A lot of her reactions to him are based off intuition and not actual evidence (and she does that a lot in other respects as well) and intuition is good and all, but having him followed, or questioning people he talked to and what not just hit me wrong I guess. I didn't love it. And while she wasn't wrong, it all felt very distrustful and problematic for a future relationship. I mean, she was so determined for him to be guilty. Even when the evidence was showing that he wasn't (which obviously he was guilty, but she didn't have evidence to prove it) she kept chasing it, even while she was in a relationship with him. DON'T BE IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM IF YOU'RE GOING OUT OF YOUR WAY TO PROVE THEIR GUILT! Don't go saying I love you to someone and I want to be with you while going out of your way to send them to prison. And I know she gets over it but I mean, why start the relationship like that. They could have started later, they should have started later. There was no reason they had to be in a relationship right away. I'm sorry but I'm very upset about this. Why does she deliberately sabotage her own relationship. It's not even about how she was right, she knew there was a possibility of other reasons, but she ignored them. She didn't want to believe anything other than guilt. Now I'm not saying Darya should be deprived of her own story and agency. I guess I'm just saying, I wish they hadn't rushed the story line with them. They could have gotten together much later than they did, it would have been better for them and for the audience, who was still mourning Bahar.
The fourth were the villains. Season 2 Derman was much more villainous in my opinion. He committed much more heinous crimes and managed to kill many more people. That said, Linda was a fucking nightmare. I was so frustrated with her the entire time. So she did make a wonderful villain. I did enjoy that there was a bigger cast of villains the third season, and that they were getting picked off one by one by Yavuz and the team.
Finally, the fifth problem was . . . well the characters are much more emotional this season. You know, true, not without good reason. Yavuz is very obviously traumatized and so are the others. Ates and Kasanli especially were very much driven by their emotions this season. And you'd think they'd learn from their commander, but apparently not. I accept that they aren't robots, but this season, they make most of their decisions led by their emotions in situations where in previous seasons, they would have been more level headed.
What I loved this season was Eylem and Avci's relationship. They blossomed this season and for the most heartbreaking reason. Avci's death was a punch in the gut. I hadn't cried that much since Bahar.
I loved the new team with Kopuk and Turan and Yavuz. While I missed him with his OG team, these three had great chemistry and bonding. I loved their scenes together.
Romance
Now, the romance of the show wasn't a major aspect of it, it was mostly about brotherhood, family, patriotism, but romance did play a good part. (Side note: This is one of the best stories of brotherhood and friendship. They are so supportive of each other!) Throughout watching the show, I've had a few thoughts about Yavus's relationships that I want to write down. The romance: (SPOILERS) When I think about the relationships Yavuz had, I can only describe it like this. Merve, to Yavuz, was like a meadow, sweet and airy. His love for her was briefly shown, but we saw his grief all of season 1, and to me, his grief was like he was drowning in an ocean. And that ocean becomes slowly rain when he meets and falls in love with Bahar. He still grieves Merve, but Bahar gave him friendship, and companionship, and love, and he opened up to her in a way that he hadn't done before. It wasn't about passion but stability. He wasn't drowning anymore, he was on solid ground, with a light rainy mist. And then when Bahar dies, it's like a drought. He's not nourished anymore, there is a great weight sitting on him and he's collapsed. And then Darya, she's like a warm fire. He's not scalded by the heat anymore, he's just warm now. I say this because after all the pain, he's never over the trauma. He never loses the love he had for his past relationships. They are still there, but the pain changes, people enter his life that make the pain less unbearable and give him renewed hope. Something I love about the series is that he doesn't fall into relationships to heal himself. He finds purpose in his duty and his country so he can heal, and the relationships he has shows that he is open to love. (And this isn't to add any toxicity, but I just want my opinion to be known... I love him with Bahar and she's my favorite).
Concluding notes
Anyway. This was an amazing show! I loved it. I didn't feel like I was suffering through it at all. Very much recommend.
Please see my other reviews.

ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY SEASON 2
Hello! This covers everything from trailers, promo pics, interviews, and articles. Pics and links will be included. The info is in vague chronological order (as much as it can be.)
Needless to say, this post contains SPOILERS and is LONG ^‿^
If you’d like a non-spoilery version with just the basic facts please check out my Umbrella Academy Timeline.
***********************************************************************
According to Steve Blackman, season 2 is about second chances and the endgame is still to stop the 2019 apocalypse (X).
The opening scene of season 2:
youtube
The siblings arrive in the past at different times, but all in the same spot - an alleyway with some dumpsters which leads out onto a high-street.
Tumblr media
Noticeable locations on the high-street include a beauty salon for black people, and an electronics shop which later on closes down and becomes a base for the group.
Tumblr media
The order they arrive in is the order the promo pictures were released: Ben & Klaus, Allison, Luther, Diego, Vanya, Five.
It will likely take a while before the whole team is reunited, and possibly longer before the siblings begin to meet the new characters: “It was several episodes before we all started to interact with each other” (X).
Ben & Klaus land in February 1960 (X). As Klaus is sober, his powers continue to develop and he uses them to impresses some people. (X)
Tumblr media
"Klaus effectively starts the hippie movement off early by founding a cult whose philosophy is based on the lyrics of pop songs that have yet to be written. “Don’t go chasing waterfalls. Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to,” he tells one awed follower." (X)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Destiny's Children! Let us commune with music." *starts whistling*
But Klaus isn’t as happy as he seems in this new life of cult stardom. “He can’t deal with the praise; it’s just become strangulating.” (X)
There’s also tension between Klaus and Ben, but its unknown whether this is because of the cult, because Klaus is "trying to rekindle his relationship with Dave" (X), or because Klaus’ evolved powers mean Ben can now possess him (X). Either way, Ben’s “determined not to be invisible to the ones he loves, willing to go further than ever before to make his presence known.” (X)
As Klaus is wearing the same outfit as the promo pics (and has a long beard which he later loses), its likely the following scene takes place early on.
Tumblr media
Klaus: Now what? Ben: Remember when I told you the engine was overheating? Klaus: Yeah, well, being smart doesn't make you interesting. Ben: Neither does your beard.
Tumblr media
Ben: You think I’m just going to keep following you everywhere for another three years? Klaus: Yeah, you are my ghost-bitch, remember?
*************************
Klaus: My skin was on fire! Ben: Good! I’ve got to get to San Francisco, I have unfinished business.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Allison is second to appear in 1961 (X). "Confused and looking for help, Allison walks into a diner and is greeted by a “Whites Only” sign, then chased across town by a group of white men until she finds sanctuary in a beauty parlour for Black women that doubles as a meeting place for civil-rights activists." (X)
Its been confirmed that the below image is from ep 1. (X)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Have you experienced discrimination by your employer?
She meets a man named Raymond Chestnut who is a “born leader with the smarts, gravitas, and confidence to never have to prove it to anyone. He has the innate ability to disarm you with a look, and is a devoted husband.” (X)
Tumblr media
Luther appears on April 10th 1962 and lands on a dumpster.
Tumblr media
He ends up working for Jack Ruby (X), a mysterious man who owns a nightclub (and who fatally shot Lee Harvey Oswald after Oswald was in custody for JFK's assassination). Luther’s job involves being a driver, bouncer, and underground fighter.
Its been confirmed that the following scene is from ep 1. (X)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Diego appears on Sep 17th 1963. One of the first things he sees is a televised address from President JFK.
Tumblr media
He ends up in an insane asylum for stalking Lee Harvey Oswald and spouting “delusional claims” about JFK’s assassination (X). Its here he meets Lila Pitts, “a chameleon who can be as brilliant or as clinically insane as the situation requires”. She’s also "unpredictable, mischievous" and "sarcastic" with a "twisted sense of humour." (X)
Tumblr media
Vanya appears on Oct 12th 1963 (X). “She arrives and gets hit by a car, driven by a woman (Sissy). She smashes her head on the cement... She remembers her name, but nothing else.” (X)
She gets a job on a ranch as a live-in-nanny for Sissy, a "fearless, no nonsense Texas Mom" who "married young for all the wrong reasons" and is "eager to rediscover what love has to offer." (X)
Tumblr media
Because she has forgotten her past traumas, Vanya is “much more confident and more in touch with her emotional self” (X). She forms a unique bond with Sissy’s son, Harlan, who is non-verbal (X). Its been confirmed that the following photos are from ep 1. (X)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vanya: I wish I remembered something.
Sissy: The doctor said it would take time. Don’t push yourself.
Vanya is also slowly discovering her powers on her own.
Tumblr media
Five appears with Hazel on Nov 15th after witnessing the world going down in nuclear explosions.
Tumblr media
Five: What was that? Hazel: The end of the world, November 25th 1963. Five: And where am I now? Hazel: Dallas, ten days earlier. Five: ...I need to find my family.
But of course its not going to be that easy, the Commission is still out there and “will hunt us down wherever and whenever we go.”
Tumblr media
In the trailer we are introduced to the head of The Commission, a fish named Carmichael. He sends three Swedish assassins, Oscar, Axel, and Otto, to hunt down Five and the others.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At some point they acquire a milk-truck and one of them dresses as a milkman. On a location shoot, the Swedes were seen in their truck outside a house in an urban area. They check a map and one of them pumps a shotgun (X).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whilst searching for his siblings Five encounters a man named Elliot, an "alien obsessive (who) witnesses The Umbrella Academy's separate arrivals." He agrees to help Five find the others. (X)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“3rd EVENT, April 10th 1962″ is above photos of Luther arriving, “September 17th 1963″ is above photos of Diego arriving, and the right column are photos of Vanya arriving still in her White Violin outfit.
Five manages to find Diego in the asylum and they have a conversation.
Tumblr media
Five: Listen to me very closely, you gibbering moron. You are not going to do a goddamned thing. Diego: Why not? Five: Because we have to stop the apocalypse. Diego: But that doesn't happen for another 60 years. Five: Not that apocalypse, this is a... new one. It followed us.
 Diego: *begins laughing*
At some point after this the Swedes storm the asylum.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Who are those guys?!”
Diego and Lila seem to make their escape from the Swedes and the asylum pretty quickly however. Its been confirmed that the below pic is from ep 2. (X)
Tumblr media
Based on Diego’s outfit and length of beard, the following two scenes take place around the same time. First, a heated car conversation which Five crashes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Diego: You don’t know anything about me! Lila: I know everything. You are an open book written for very dumb children. Diego: I am n-not trying to b-be a hero, okay? Lila: Then why are you doing this?
Five: *appears in the backseat* Because he is an idiot. Lila: Who the hell are you? Five: Hi, I’m his loving brother. Diego: Who left me to rot in the nut-house. Five: To protect you from yourself.
Lila: Thats quite sweet. Diego: Okay. Both of you. Out.
And second, a dark encounter with a familiar figure...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reginald Hargreeves & Pogo
The summary for episode 2 also mentions that “an incident at the bar leads Luther to Vanya,” and “Five finds an unsettling surprise in the film Hazel left behind,” which likely links to this image:
Tumblr media
Its been confirmed that the following scene is from ep3 (X). Klaus is seen emerging from a river - now confirmed to be the River Ganges in India/Bangladesh which is considered sacred and purifying (X). Considering the series spans 10 days and is set in Dallas, this scene is very likely a flashback.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note Ben in the background.
Klaus is also seen in similar attire in a wealthy looking house, which is potentially part of the commune where the cult operates.
Tumblr media
Note Klaus no longer has his long beard.
And here’s Ben in what looks like a room in the same house. It's interesting to note that Ben (or the actor) is looking straight into the camera, implying its a first person point-of-view.
Tumblr media
Apparently also in ep3 we have this delightful gem of Klaus being Klaus. (presumably theres a pool at the commune?).
Tumblr media
Episode 3 also sees the Swedes chasing Vanya in a cornfield until she uses her powers to defend herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
youtube
Thanks to this, Five is able to track Vanya down (X). It's been confirmed that the following pic is from episode 3. (X)
Tumblr media
And based on Vanya's clothes, Five then takes her to a cafe to explain a few things.
Tumblr media
Vanya: Are you gonna tell me what the hell's going on? Five: When you were a baby you were bought by an eccentric billionaire. He raised you in an elite academy with six other siblings with extrodinary powers, but in the year 2019 in order to avoid the apocalypse we jumped into a vortex and ended up being scattered throughout the timeline in Dallas, Texas. Vanya: ... Five: Any questions? Vanya: ... what do you mean the apocalypse?
At some point ollowing on from this (but unknown which ep) Luther and Vanya have this conversation:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vanya: What caused the apocalypse? Luther: ... You did... but not alone. I was part of it, we all- Vanya: How? Luther: You got angry. Lost control, you... blew up the moon. It slammed into Earth wiping out everything.
In ep3 we see both Allison and Raymond actively involved in the protests against the segregation by taking part in a sit-in (X).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Allison: I’d like to be served, please.
Waitress: *pointing to a Whites Only sign* Can’t you read, girl?
 Allison: Seven languages.
Customer: Oh, you smart one, huh?
*The door opens and many other blank protesters enter.*
Allison: We’d like to be served, please.
However, it goes badly as "police brutally attack (the) peaceful protestors." (X).
The summary for ep3 says that “Allison reconnects with Klaus,” and in ep4 she is “searching frantically for Ray.” It seems, based on the following pics, that she finds Ray in jail and Klaus & Ben have a hand in getting him out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note the word "buearu" on the window and Ray in the background.
Based on Klaus' outfit, its sometime around this point he goes on a massive bender. We see him running with a bottle of whiskey, his gleeful cult following him, and dancing in a drinks aisle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note that Klaus is bleeding from his lip.
Following on from this, Klaus wakes up on Allisons floor, feeling worse for wear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ben: And how are we feeling this morning? Klaus: Ugh, peaches and cream, how are you? Ben: Curious. How many more rock bottoms are you going to have to hit before you start taking care of yourself?
In episode 4 “Vanya contends with a crisis at the farm.” Could this link to her developing romance as, despite Sissy still being with her husband (X), she and Vanya begin exploring a relationship?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The summary confirms that in ep4, “Five, Diego, and Lila crash a party at the Mexican consulate.” But the Swedes are still hot on their tail.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note the third Swede in the background, chasing Five?
After surviving this, they return to their base. The following pic has been confirmed as happening in ep4 (X).
Tumblr media
At some unknown point the Swedes (or two of them) also go after Allison, though it appears she fights back (and kills one of them?).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"They weren't here to sell vacuums!"
Also at some unknown point, Allison and Luther have a catch up. Based on Luthers partially healed face, this is after his conversation with Vanya in ep2.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luther: We did it again… apparently.
 Allison: Did what again?
 Luther: Ended the world.
Also at some unknown point Vanya and Diego reconcile: “I don’t remember what I did, but I’m sorry, if that means anything,” Vanya tells Diego as he threateningly juggles a knife. “It does,” he responds, before accepting her as a confidant he can turn to for advice on how to handle his feelings for Lila. (X)
It appears that ep5 is when the whole family finally reunites. The episode summary explains how “summoned to an emergency meeting, the siblings hatch very different plans for how to spend their last 6 days on Earth.” (I have no idea what order the conversation goes in as each bit is a snippet from a different promo vid).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Five: Klaus, is Ben here? Klaus: No, unfortunately ghosts can’t time-travel. Ben: Are you kidding me?
Tumblr media
Five: (I/We) really screwed the pooch on this one, the whole going back in time and getting stuck thing. But the real kick in the pants here is… we brought the end of the world back here with us. Klaus: Oh my god, again? My cult is gonna be so pissed. I told them we had until 2019. Five: We have until Monday.
Tumblr media
Klaus: Is it Vanya? Allison: Klaus! Klaus: What? Its usually Vanya.
Tumblr media
Vanya: None of us are supposed to be here, right? I mean, what if its us?
Tumblr media
Luther: Diego's been stalking Lee Harvey Oswald. Diego: Hey, you're working for Jack Ruby! Klaus: Allison has been very involved in local politics. Allison: Okay, you started a cult! Ben: Thank you!
Tumblr media
“We have to make it right again, before everyone and everything we know is dead.”
Following on from this, Klaus, Vanya and Allison have some bonding time in the beauty parlour.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vanya: How do you guys deal with this? Allison: What? Vanya: I mean all of it. Time travel. Seeing the dead...?
Tumblr media
Vanya: I’m gunna tell Sissy that I love her… I don’t want any secrets.
Klaus: Yeah? Allison: Yeah! Yeah, yeah, you’re right. Yes. Cos, y’know, if, if its all going to go tits up the least I could do is be honest with my husband. Klaus: Oh… does that mean I have to face my cult? I just hate group breakups, thats why I stopped dating twins.
“Klaus, Vanya, and Allison end a moping session by dancing together to Twistin’ the Night Away.” (X). Its been confirmed that the following pic is from ep 5. (X)
Tumblr media
In episode 6, “Dave visits Klaus’ compound” and “the siblings meet their father for dinner” in a Tiki bar. Its been confirmed that the following pic is from ep 6 (X).
Tumblr media
An interview with the cast has them talking about ‘the elevator scene’ and how hard it was to shoot because everyone kept cracking up. (X)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Five: All right, quick run down. Luther; super strength, Klaus can commune with the dead, Allison can rumour anyone to do anything-
Diego: Yeah except she never uses it.
Allison: I heard a rumour you punched yourself in the face.
*Diego punches himself in the face.*
Reginald: *looking at Vanya* And you?
Luther: Uh, maybe we don’t… take Vanya for a test drive.
Klaus: Oh yeah thats probably not a good idea…
Vanya: What, I think I can handle it.
*Despite everyones protests, Vanya explodes a fruit bowl.*
Based on Luther and Klaus’ outfits, the following scenes also take place sometime around the same time (ep6/7).
First, Luther pulls up to a house in an urban area, he gets out the car and has a conversation with a man (X). This is the same house where the three Swedes were seen in their milk-truck at night.
Tumblr media
Note the gun and flask on the seat.
Next, Allison and Raymond deal with a body (of a Swede?) while Klaus & Ben don’t help. The summary of ep6 also mentions that Allison gives Ray a peek at her powers, which is maybe why he’s on board to deal with a body.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But what's the big flash that startles them? Well it may have something to do with all this craziness:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note the chairs and people on the ceiling.
It’s hard to tell but since Ben is there, this could be Klaus being thrown backwards? The outfit certainly looks similar.
Tumblr media
In an interview, the cast talk about how the room had to be painted completely white (then returned to normal), and how nice it was for the character of Ben to be able to share a moment with Vanya (X). This implies Vanya looses control and Ben is able to talk her down.
At some unknown point, it looks like the siblings all return to the academy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note that the background behind Klaus implies he’s sat in the same seat that he did as a child.
An interview asked the question "You all eat 'brain' at a family dinner..." (X) and in a different interview the cast talk about the brain acid trip (X). Could this be when that happens?
Either way, things likely don’t run smoothy. “Reginald still proves just as capable of preying on their deepest insecurities, while somehow leaving them attacking each other instead of him.” (X)
The summary for ep7 mentions someone named Carl issuing a warning to Vanya, and in ep8 it states that the FBI torture her, so its most likely the following images are from this time:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The tape recorder is turned off...
Tumblr media
The figure from behind slaps a cloth over Vanya’s face as she takes on the appearance of The White Violin.
“A dimly lit room... Vanya is strapped to a chair. The floor is soaked with water. At the moment she is being tortured for information... After an electric shock the lights on the ceiling begin to flicker. “‘Is she doing that?’ asks a fearful FBI agent.” (X)
Also in ep7, “Five travels to 1982 to carry out his new mission”. Theres a possibility that Luther is also involved in this as a promo pic has snow surrounding the house, which I don’t think would happen in November in Dallas?
Tumblr media
Five: I need a spotter. Luther: What is that? Like a wingman?
Tumblr media
The summary for ep8 includes the fact that “Diego discovers what causes the apocalypse.”
Tumblr media
“Everything in our new lives is connected to the plot to assassinate the president. That can’t be a coincidence.”
The fact we see the gun Five was going to use to assassinate JFK, implies this scene takes place on Nov 22nd, 3 days before the apocalypse. And we know from the summaries that in ep8 “Five concocts a risky plan to intercept another version of himself.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Old Five, young Five (who’s still really old Five), and Luther.
However this may not go to plan as the summary for ep9 says, “the Fives plot against each other.”
And the summary for episode 10 is: “reeling from the events at the Dealey Plaza, the siblings head to the farm to help save Harlan.”
Tumblr media
MOMENTS I CAN’T PLACE:
Someone flips over a table in what looks like it could be a distillery. Based on outfit and hair this could possibly be Lila, Klaus, or (less likely) Diego. Five is also there.
Tumblr media
A similar (the same?) person flips over while avoiding gunfire. There are targets and what looks like training equipment, and the person shooting is standing under a large umbrella.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If the flipping person is Lila, then this may link to what the summaries reveal about her arc: In ep5 she confronts her mother, in ep6 the Handler is mentioned (albeit talking to Five), and in ep9 she learns the truth about her parents…
Five sneaks through a room with a camera and lights. On the blackboard the word “Pogo” is written, implying this could be Reggies house and this room is where he is teaching and studying young Pogo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Diego walks into a control room. It looks like there might be 2-way glass. Could this link to ep8 when Diego discovers what cases the apocalypse?
Tumblr media
Five is seen in a building with wooden panels on the walls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Based on the background of this shot of Carmichael, the building could be part of The Commission.
Tumblr media
“You...”
Five gets buried in rubble. Aidan looks chill about it though.
Tumblr media

Well done for making it all the way!
I’ve tried to avoid speculation as much as possible and keep the language suggestive. I don’t know all the facts, I WILL have made errors, probably many! So please take all this with a suggestive grain of salt, I am just a hooman trying to use her squishy brain.
Please let me know if you spot any errors, think of anything else I can add, or if you want more info about any specific event ^‿^

I still dont see the ‘ressler is the one who is the most hurt with liz’s choices and actions, hes having a very hard time’ that the JONs promised us this season. Theres just a couple episodes left, where is the angst at??!!! Liess
Ressler has been missing Liz, but it hasn’t been written well. We got hints of it, with Park saying she knows he’s having a hard time, and Liz via the Cyranoid telling him she misses him. We haven’t had outright ‘angsty meltdowns’ though, that I SO wanted. But he is hurting, as all his phone calls to her show, but in his own ‘doesn’t show emotion’ way to others. The fact he is the ONLY one who could contact her says a lot, in his need to talk to her. So I don’t think it’s lies as such, but more a case of the John’s perception of Ressler angst doesn’t even come close to the fandoms.
We are now beginning to see cracks forming between him and Cooper after last night’s episode, though. Ressler feels betrayed by his boss, and is fully on Liz’s side. He is now alienated from the task force, and has been the lone voice of supporting Liz for a while. Now it’s clear to everyone where Ressler’s loyalty lies, and he is becoming openly ‘hostile’ to them, especially Cooper, for not believing and supporting Liz.
I am fully expecting him to communicate more with Liz now - and hey, is it too much to hope that he’d even ‘go rogue’ from the task force and team up with Liz after what Cooper did to him? If that were to happen, I am HERE FOR IT. It’s been years since we have seen an angsty, angry and out of control Ressler, and I really hope it’s coming. We still have seven episodes to come this season, so plenty of time yet.
Thanks for the ask!

Do you think Hoppers actually dead though?
O K A Y.
I’ve been looking for an excuse to pull all of this together so here we go! NO Anon, I do not think that Chief James Hopper has gone and died on us. There’s no REAL evidence (there are easter eggs though) however and the Duffer Brothers could still pull the rug out from under us but hey.
No I do not believe that Hopper is dead. Although some things can be interpreted as pretty final and if the Duffers really kill him off I will never watch this show again, because it’s horrifically SHITTY writing and im already super tired of that this year lmao.
One - There is no body? We were never showed a body or what’s left of one? We have seen bodies for Benny, Barb, Bob and Billy (and even people who were in it for like 5 minutes). THEY EVEN PRODUCED A FAKE WILL WHEN THEY WANTED US TO THINK HE WAS DEAD. THEY AREN’T AGAINST SHOWING US BODIES!!! Which brings me to my next point!
Two - They also aren’t against to showing us death. Lots of gory detailing death, WHOEVER it is. Billy died horrifically but you saw it even though hes a kid. Bob got ripped to shreds.  And even those dudes at the beginning of S3 died horribly? They still showed it. Hopper’s death??? It cuts away. You see NOTHING. AT. ALL. There aren’t even any remnants OF a body where he was standing, and Joyce goes down there and LOOKS. Surely shed find something? Gooey grossness like the bodies at the beginning? Nope. You could argue that they’d be against showing us the death of a beloved hero and a main character but. Again. Bob was beloved and arguably one of the sweetest characters in the show and he was ripped to bits in front of us and Joyce. Billy was a kid for all intents and purposes, still he died a horrible death. Not one bit of that was cut away.
Three - If you look in the shots hes not on the platform when the thing explodes????? like at all? Either that’s badly shot or its done deliberately because he’s just not there anymore? There’s the portal to the Upside Down and you can see a ladder in the shot too, so maybe he either went into the Upside Down or down the ladder and got caught by the russians?? We just don’t know.
Four - We see the devastated Eleven and the aftermath of what happened at Star Court. Then it jumps to three months later? Okay, odd that were not shown anymore of the grieving or the funeral. Then of course Eleven read the SPEECH. Think about the end of it specifically and about LEAVING THE DOOR OPEN 3 INCHES!! You can see from one of the final shots of Star Court that the gates not CLOSED. It was healing but it never fully closes. So Hopper could be in the Upside Down, or travelled through it to Russia on the other end?? Who knows. Point is, they included this line at the end for a reason. Whether the reason is that hes actually dead and they’re just being profound or that its a hint about his fate, its meaningful.
Five - During the ending the song HEROES by Peter Gabriel plays, this is the same song that was placed over them finding Wills fake body, and after all the goodbyes and the ‘speech’ where it ends with “keep the door open three inches” well. Come on.
Six - Then it cuts to Russia and you hear the “not the american” line, and Hopper was called “the American” throughout the series by that Russian baddie. Should I start waving Red Flags here or???? Then again, a lot of people are saying this could be Brenner. Okay I 100% get your logic Im with ya, and for a few days I’ve also thought it could be Brenner. But here’s the thing. Elevens powers. Brenner makes her use them to spy on a russian man in Season 1. Hinting that there’s more going on here than just super powers, kids and other dimensions. Don’t forget that in the 80s the world was in the grip of the Cold War, and things would have started reaching a boiling point for this long before 1985 when it ‘officially’ began. We were never given any answers about why Brenner was spying on this man, or even Russia. Or even if he WAS spying for the US. Nothing, it’s a throwaway scene. Or IS IT? Russians show up in Season Three somehow knowing about the Upside Down, having failed at their own attempts to open a gate in Russia. They somehow know that its Hawkins they need to be in to successfully open their gate and potentially get monsters to use, oh I don’t know, in a WAR???? How would they have known any of this information to begin with?? Oh I wonder. We were told all about Brenner being alive and out there in season two (and we were never told WHERE and this is not referenced again), but as far as I can remember Eleven has never shared this with anyone else, even though it’s completely RELEVANT information. And as far as I can remember (its been a hell of an emotional few days) I dont think were given any explanation about how the Russians knew about the Upside Down, Hawkins or anything. So maybe the reason they knew is BECAUSE BRENNER is the one giving them their directives? Because hes worked for THEM this whole time???
Seven -  Interestingly also Eleven lost her powers? JEEZ ISN’T THAT CONVENIENT!!! Because the first thing shed use them for is to look for Hopper even if she was told he was dead. Shed look, 100% for the man who saved her, gave her a home, loved her, worried for her, cared for her like she was his goddamn OWN. Conveniently though now SHE CANT??? Interesting.
Eight -  And now. There’s the voicemail message. In one of the episodes (my brains so fried I cant remember which one sorry) Murrays gives out his landline number, and when you call it you can hear him give a message to Joyce. You can listen to it here.  You can tell this is after season three, because why would he talk to Joyce Byers? Surely if he was trying to reach someone for information it would be Hopper?  “I have an update, its best if we speak in person" an update??? About what??? Why is he coercing with joyce???  Notice how he says “it’s not good or bad but its SOMETHING” and then says “we’ll talk about it in person” (or something like that) why would he be calling joyce with an ‘update’?????????? AND ON WHAT EXACTLY?? INTERESTING!!
Nine - Theres this interview with the cast specifically ABOUT Hopper, the death and the post credits scene. And I love David Harbour but, you cannot lie for shit my angel.
Ten - Millie has said in an interview “ Her dads gone, or so she thinks” COME ON.
Eleven - Again WE KNOW DAVID HARBOUR IS LIKE THE MARK RUFFALO OF STRANGER THINGS. And hes bad at keeping shit to himself. Hes already told us at the end of last YEAR, literally a month after they finished filming season three that the Duffers have told him the ending to the series as a whole. Why would any creator do this for a man they have effectively just fired, because his character died? Why would they tell him? They wouldn’t.
Tweleve - Again. David Harbour, bless his heart, I think its trying to give us HINTS and bread crumbs to follow. Last week he changed his instagram photo from Hopper in S1 to the number 6. Odd. Today he changed it to the number one :
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Twelve continued - Basically if he changed it to an 8 next, we know hes trying to hint at Murrays voicemail message and this is a clue for Hopper. Because why else would he bother?
Thirteen - Theres also this screenshot from Cara Buonos instagram where she literally SAYS about him being in Kamchatka, and uses the Russian word for PRISON. (Of course this could just be a joke between the actors
Tumblr media
Fourteen - Theres also the fact, which is not evidence mind you, that its incredibly shitty writing to have both the men that Joyce Byers loved/loves to die in front of her? And actually having her put the action in motion that kills the man she loves? No. I wont accept that. And weve been shown her non willingness to believe in peoples death, everyone and their mothers told her Will was dead and she was being crazy. Did she listen? No. And she got her boy back. Will she think once she has a clear head that Hoppers dead? Maybe. Which is why she asks Murray to investigate. Hence the Voicemail Message.
Fifteen - Its also incredibly shitty and hard to swallow, for Elevens sake too. I mentioned already how much she loves Hopper and finally got a true parent in him. Do you honestly think they’d put her through all of that just to lose him NOW? Like i said, its convienent how shes lost her powers at this very crucial moment.
Sixteen - DAVID. HARBOURS. BEARD. RIGHT. NOW.
And SEVENTEEN -Just in case y’all are having trouble with any of that it looks like David Harbour has let sorta slip (my god I fucking ADORE THIS MAN LET ME TELL YOU). I dont know how reliable this is mind you because its not coming from a BIG source, but HERE he hints at knowing who the American is, after telling everyone else (see the interview above ^^) that he doesnt know and he cant say anything.
‘During an interview with David Harbour, I attempted to delicately get around the fate of Jim Hopper. Harbour, however, came right out and gave it to me straight. “This is the question I’m going to have to dance around–” I began, only for Harbour to interrupt me and ask, “The ending?” “Right,” I said. “Is there a way you can talk about the future of Hopper without…” I trailed off here, only for Harbour to ask: “Well, did you see the post-credits scene?”I had, of course. And so I straight-up asked: is that Hopper behind the door? According to Harbour, that’s the most likely scenario. Throughout the season, the main Russian baddie refers to Hopper as “the American”, and having another Russian refer to the mysterious prisoner in the same way was the big giveaway.Of course, knowing that Hopper is alive, and knowing how he survived and ended up in Russia, are two different things. We’ll have to wait for season 4 to get that answer. And we’ll have to wait to see how things unfold from there. Will a big chunk of season 4 involve Hopper escaping that Russian base, and trying to get back to America? Time will tell. One thing is clear: Hopper still has a long journey ahead of him; not just physically, but emotionally.’
SO, basically Jim Hopper has not left us, Joyce or Eleven.  And if the Duffer Brothers have done all this to screw with us, well. Im not gonna be responsible for what I do.
I FEEL JIM HOPPER IN THIS RUSSIAN PRISON TONIGHT!!!
THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK!!!!!!!!

Episode 2: “I am typically regarded as a joke” - Livingston
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways... rip Colin, no idea who that was.. obviously Okay well I think we are out of the first impressions stage of this game and I think I've done an okay job of not making a strong impression one way or another, except to DeNara who I've been talking to most consistently since the start of this game. Except for today lmfao I was NOT active on purpose but I'll try to get to that in this confessional. I saw that the tribe went on a call so I decided to join and chit-chat with the girlies of this tribe and I've gotta say.. I'm lowkey disappointed to learn that despite being a returning player, everybody else on the tribe is friends with each other. Aside from Mo it sounds like they all know each other one way or another and I'm kinda left out of that connection. Even though they might not all be friends, it is a bit uncomfortable to be in a call with people where you know NOTHING they're talking about and you're not catching any of the jokes or references to other games. Also, I noticed that the personalities kinda blended together and these aren't people that I'd get along with in other orgs I play, so.. oops. One highlight of the call was that Nik was talking about Rachael and they were saying that Rachael got rid of them, I believe. Basically just talking about how they view Rachael differently because of that I guess? I was kind of in and out during that. But then DeNara posted IN THE TRIBE CHAT when it was just us three plus Kailyn on the call that Nik was spilling tea... and it was just. so. cringe. Idk if Nik or Kailyn noticed and the fact that everyone else was acting so nonchalant makes me think I missed something but either way I was on mute howling bc of second-hand embarrassment. As far as my current position, I do feel a bit comfortable with where I'm at because although I AM uncomfortable being left out of the friend group, normally I thrive early game when I get underestimated. I'm trying to just not make waves and stick to whatever plans come my way and hopefully people don't view me as a threat. Every time I'd leave and rejoin the call everybody was talking about totally normal IRL stuff so it doesn't seem like people are playing the game yet, but last round I did make a bit of an alliance with DeNara for the time being. Despite feeling like an outsider, I'm going to just continue to look at the positives of every situation because as a pessimistic person by nature, I'm inclined to feel doomed in any scenario. But this is my redemption season. I'm not here to get tenth place, I'm here to win and this season will prove itself to be an uphill battle and I'm just getting started. Tumblr Survivor has always felt like the story of Sisyphus and the Boulder to me. Look into the deeper meaning of the story and I promise a lot of the details do kind of relate to me and my character throughout my run in this community, but the general idea is that I've been tasked with a chore of having to push this heavy boulder up a neverending mountain in Hell. As a returning player, I've faced a lot of hardship when I could've just gotten the outcome I want the first time, and each return to Tumblr Survivor, I've pretty much done worse and worse since then. I'm ready to finally push that fucking boulder out of the underworld and bring myself back to the playing field I deserve to be on. For now, I'm just going to keep pushing.
Tumblr media
So glad we won that first immunity. Why am I not surprise to see a unanimous vote for the first tribal. Even a self vote.... hopefully we win again today
Tumblr media
I’m already over this tribe. Keegan and Liv are the only fun ones to talk to, Joey I think tries but also doesn’t. Also low key hoping people don’t know too much about Svalbard cause if people know about Rachael and I being close that could be a problem. I’m not letting my work schedule get in the way of my activity, but it’s a bad sign to me when I’m of the most active people on the tribe. I should be the baseline, not the gold standard
Tumblr media
I think our Tribe is a bit laid back. Not much interaction, not really that engaging. I hope Jake and Kevin did a good job at the challenge, I don't want to go to Tribal again. The typhoon here passed, I hope Tribal passes too!
Tumblr media
Woo we got out the main inactive person. Although really my entire tribe is quiet and lowkey inactive, but Jake and I talk a lot in PMs which is good. Also Stephen is doing his best with timezones so I know he wants to play bc he's always on when he is able to be on. The next biggest inactive person on the tribe is Kevin, but he instantly volunteered to do the challenge so yay I guess. If we lose though, he is still an option to go in my mind. I'm not trying to make too much of a plan because we could win this challenge and then I'm going to try to open the vault because if we come in first I will have 10 chips. But I still need to figure out if it costs 10 chips to open the vault or if you're just not allowed to look at it until you have 10 chips.
Tumblr media
You want a confessional, well here it is. Nothing has happened. To be honest, I’ve barely even spoken to anyone today. Or yesterday for that matter. It’s also been quiet in tribe chat.
Tumblr media
I finally got my tribe on a call. Most of them joined in, at least for a little bit so that was nice. The only person that wasn't on call was Ben, which kind of paints him as the outsider of the tribe right now.
...five seconds later
I want to get to know Mo better and maybe set up some sort of alliance with them, but they are so spotty with when they are on, it is difficult to keep a conversation going. I am not chill enough for this game yet lol.
Tumblr media
ok. so like that's annoying. that challenge was supposed to be fun but jake is making a big stink. and like yeah i'm mad too but like it's over and it's just a game it's not like actual money lol. also, i don't really care if we go to tribal. makes you stronger. whatever. i'm sure he's a nice person but like i think he's just mad he lost. whatevs.
Tumblr media
Nik and Rachael did our challenge and won. Thank goodness it wasn't me! What my tribe will soon come to realize is I am basically useless at challenges. Rip me.
...five seconds later
Yay! Mo finally asked if I wanted to work together! Took them long enough ;-) jkjk I am excited to finally start playing this game
Tumblr media
So after a heated and undeserved loss - sorry Dan I know we talked about it but I'm sticking to my guns - I start packing my bags. All of a sudden Stephen wants to target John, John wants to target Timmy; and nobody is throwing my name out there... Like... Hello? I just got into a public fight with production, shouldn't I be target number one? And now, Xavier and I are the swing votes... How the hell did the worst Tumblr Survivor Player and a 45 Year old man end up stuck in the middle? What the hell even is this season?
Tumblr media
WE LOST AGAIN. So now which alliance to choose?!
youtube
Tumblr media
I can't believe this round. I should be the target, why - why am I not the target? I lost the challenge. I yelled at production. I am the easiest vote, but nobody is voting me! What is happening?? Timmy and Stephen made an alliance chat with Xavier and I to vote John. John and Kevin are working together to vote Timmy. Xavier says - "Jake tell me what to do!" Timmy and John are both telling me everything the other one is saying to each other, and it's amazing. I have no idea how Xavier and I are voting tonight. On one hand, you have Stephen and Timmy who seem like a really strong duo. But Stephen trusts me a lot, and if I vote out his closest ally than I'll go down that list - which could be trouble in case of the inevitable swap. John is MY closest ally, but if we vote him out the team is much more united. Do I play for ME or do I play for WE? I'm 95% sure the vote is going to be 4-2, and people are going to be blindsided.
Tumblr media
“Theres three tribes! Means we’re less likely to have back to back tribals” -_- sure jan. So we lost again, blergh, looked like an annoying challenge. The tribe is still pretty muted, who knows whether they’re voting for me or not. I made a 4-man alliance with Timmy Jake and Xavier, which i do want, but we’ll have to see if everyone is legit. The two bad possibilities are if everyone is actually voting me for various reasons (timezone, round one oopsie, etc.) or if the real vote is jake for arguing with dan. idk, time will tell. From my POV the vote is John, pretty randomly just based on the fact of who competed in the challenge.
Tumblr media
Hiiiiiii So I am very excited to be back in the game again. I very much enjoy my original tribe especially Andrew. We already have a Pennsylvania alliance with Stephanie and I think that that is good groundwork to have moving forward should we ever lose a challenge we already have three that are tight in at seven so if we hear anything about any of them targeting us we can do something about it. I like Livingston a lot and Joey but I can’t tell if Joey is 14 years old or not and that kind of bothers me. I am v excited to get with Kevin and see where me him and Andrew can go
Tumblr media
Winning is great, but we need to lose the next one or it’s gonna be a weird spot if the first swap is at 18, although it is very possible that it’s at 16. I don’t want to go into a swap with all the agency being with Luxor, or us having the most players because in both cases we get painted as the targets. Bad news all around
Tumblr media
I have yet to confess but here goes! I feel very good on my tribe. We seem to be doing fairly well at comps so far and I would love to continue to miss Tribal as much as humanly possible. I have talked to everyone on my tribe in some capacity but I am not trying to be the one to initiate like alliances and shit before we even have to attend tribal. I just wanna be chill and lay low while also being a good member of the tribe whom people like. Keegan and I have a mutual agreement to make sure each other gets far. I got first boot in my last game and he has never made single digits here in Tumblr Survivor so let's change that. One fear with working with Keegan is that he knows how I play. I played his game, Forest of Horrors, and got rocked out at the Final 7. Keegan has since told me that I was runner up for Player of the Season. I am typically regarded as a joke in this community but Keegan is someone who knows how I play and respects how I play. This game is an entirely different scenario so I am going to likely try to keep my connection up with him.
Tumblr media
So the vote seems like it's going to be John Coffey. I'm quite sad about it for a few reasons. He is really nice and I know we work well together in games and he is a very loyal player. Also, Jake had an entire temper tantrum last night after results and that was just extremely annoying. But, Jake is more active and talks to me more while John is a rare sighting. Tbh I would rather it be Kevin but I think they're getting a pass since they participated in the challenge...always next tribal because knowing this tribe it's a strong possibility. I swear if the next challenge is a music video though I will punch a wall since that will be my death sentence since I do not participate in those. I never feel comfortable so I just don't. If we go to tribal as a tribe of 5, that might not be that good, so just really hoping that that is not the next challenge.
Tumblr media
ok here's the tea guys. i am pretty solid in my tribe right now. after this vote tonight there 5 of us, and 4 of us are in an alliance, which is good. HOWEVER, i'm solid with the 3 people separately. that's put me in a good spot for a tribe swap/merge. obviously we're like years away from a merge. but we could tribe swap soon. we shall see!

Thoughts on Isaac and Representation
I don’t have a point- let me just say that now. This also stands to be perhaps my most controversial post, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take in order to get my thoughts out. This will be long and rambling. You have been warned.
With the release of Sex Education Season 2, fans have been introduced to a character named Isaac, to mixed response. He is Maeve’s new neighbor, a barrier to her relationship with Otis and potentially a new love interest.
It’s not unusual to introduce a new love interest into a show to prolong the drama and keep the tension will-they-won’t-they romance alive. In season one we Otis in love with Maeve, thwarted by the fact that Maeve was dating Jackson, and that Otis never really believed that Maeve could like him anyway. Resigned with this fact, Otis attempted to move on with Ola who had appeared conviniently around the time that Maeve had realized her feelings for Otis and ended her own relationship. It was all very ships in the night.
In season two we get a sort of role reversal: This time it’s Otis in the relationship and Maeve left pining, thinking that he could never love her. It makes sense that this would be the time to introduce a new love interest for Maeve, sort of HER Ola, if you will. The difference here is that Ola is sweet and wonderful and Isaac is sketchy AF.
I hate him, and I’ve made no secret of hating him, because personally I find him sketchy and manipulative.  There are other fans who like them though and ship the two of them. That’s fine; it’s a perfectly valid opinion, and shipping wars have been around as long as fandom. That’s nothing new. There is another issue though...
Isaac is in a wheelchair.
While that isn’t necessarily a problem in GENERAL, it is something that effects the way his character is handeled, as well as viewer interpretation. It’s my experience that in media, certain characters are usually gifted a sort of “plot armor.” While that term is most commonly directed towards characters who play too pivotal a role in the story to be written off, I find it often also applies to characters who fit into the role of “representation.”
But wait, you might say, that doesn’t sound right. POC and queer characters get killed off all the time. It’s practically a horror movie trope, and “Kill your gays” didn’t come from nowhere. To which I would reply: Exactly. We have all seen it a million times, have raised it as an issue, and I would like to think that as a society we are attempting to move past it. That gay characters are less likely to die because of the attention brought to the “kill your gays” trope.
It’s my understanding that these common minority tropes originally stem from their initial introduction into media. At first they didn’t have any representation at all, and then gradually they were allowed to be incorporated in media in small ways that didn’t offend anyone’s delicate sensibilities. A very famous example would be the inclusion of African Americans: At first they weren’t in movies at all. Then they were(sort of?) but they were represented by white actors in blackface. Then when black actors were allowed to play their own roles, those roles were harmful stereotypes; You wouldn’t get a black actor playing a heroic lead, but he would be the brutish savage, or the “mammy” character. They were either relegated to minor side charactes, comic relief, or the villain- roles that didn’t challange the views of society.
There was a similar experience in regards to homosexuality in films, where once gay characters started appearing they were portrayed as sexless comic relief or villinous. The general idea behind it seemed to be that there could be homosexuality in films, but it had to be shows as wrong and corrupt, or destined to end in tragedy. After all, how could anybody in such a relationship possibly be happy? Ridiculous.
While media  (and society) are still making strides towards diversity and inclusivity, you can’t say that media isn’t in a better place now than it was even ten or twenty years ago. I was born in the 90′s and the amount of difference I see even in the twenty-seven years I’ve been alive is actually a little astounding. I can’t even imagine the difference for people who are older than I. Even just since I graduated highschool (2010) I’ve seen such a huge difference in regards to representation across the board and while we still have a ways to go we are certainly far from where we started.
But what does any of this have to do with Isaac? He isn’t a POC, he isn’t in any way queer. No, but he is disabled which is another sort of representation and one that doesn’t get as much publicity. As such it is admittedly one that I don’t know as much about, but If I had to guess it’s probably because theres never (to my knowledge) been a big court case about whether or not disabled people deserve rights. It’s never been a hot button issue in a political debate the way that race politics or gay rights have and so I feel like it hasn’t gotten as much attention. Still disability representation is still a topic that comes up in conversation when discussing media.
So what does that have to do with anything? Why was I talking about plot armor? I had a reason, I promise. I’ve found that due to the problematic history of representation, shows (at least the socially aware ones) have been taking strides to try to avoid falling into the same harmful patterns as their predecessors. Since there was a long history of POC characters being cast as villains, evil characters to be defeated by the white protagonists, there was a stretch of time there where you wouldn’t see a single POC villain at all. It wasn’t quite true equality, but it was an effort to combat the harmful stereotypes that the media had perpetuated for so long.
Eventually we got to a place where it was generally acknowledged that you could have a POC villain as long as they weren’t the ONLY POC in your entire movie. The same goes for people of various gender and sexual identies. You can have a gay antagonist, but it’s impportant to include other gay people who ARENT evil to show that it’s the character that is evil, indepent of his sexuality. This isn’t seen as often however, probably due to the relative novelty of the inclusion of queer characters, which is why my examples for these points are POC characters who have a comparitively longer history of inclusion. That’s not to say that the history has always been positive, just that queer inclusion is a newer development and active disability rep seems even more recent.
I apologize if I’m phrsasing any of this poorly, but I’m hoping that you’re tracking the main points. Now. I repeat: What does ANY of this have to do with Isaac?
Isaac is, as of now, the only disabled character in Sex Education. As such, I feel like it’s kind of expected for him to be given “plot armor”, not in regards to being killed off but in his depiction. As the show’s only example of disabled representation, as well as his introduction as a love interest for Maeve, I feel like the expectation is that he would be a protagonist. At the very least he would be a good guy.  And maybe some people think he is? I don’t know, he has his fans, but I’m not one of them.
This is the part of my post where I stop having a point and just start listing my thoughts.
When I met Isaac I expected to like him and I wonder how much of that stemmed from the fact that he was in a wheelchair and as such I expected that the show wouldn’t possibly portray him in a negative light. Even when he was rude to Maeve in the beginning I was willing to forgive it- I don’t mind my characters being prickly and Lord knows no other character on this show is perfect. And he was handsome, and snarky, which are usually traits that I love and I really REALLY expected to love him. However as the show progressed he just gave me bad vibes. I find him manipulative and untrustworthy.
I’m not going to go into my feelings about Isaac because I’ve already made one very long post duscussing his character, but instead I’d like to discuss his role in the show and how his disability factors into that role.
As I said before, it makes sense that this season would introduce a new love interest for Maeve. It’s not a terribly uncommon formula in shows like these. Considering that Maeve is considered the “bad girl” (even though we all know she’s a cinnamon role that just deserves ALL the love) who has self esteem issues and an inaccurate view of herself, I was honestly surprised that the show gave her such a cute, healthy relationship with Jackson. Were they perfect for each other? I don’t personally think so, but there wasn’t anything inherently problematic in their relationship. Jackson is a legitimately nice guy, I wish him the best and he was a pretty good boyfriend.
It wouldn’t be unheard of though to see her fall into a more toxic relationship, and while that’s a very strong term that even I am hesitant to use toward Isaac at this point, it does look as if the groundwork might be there for that kind of subplot. It could really go either way at this point- maybe Isaac’s actions are influenced by his own personal insecurity and he would be much nicer once they were in a relationship. Or maybe he would be scared of losing her and things would get worse. It’s not just the fact that he deleted her message in the last episode, but that he’s seemed very manipulative throughout the entire season.
It seems to me that Isaac fits the stereotype of the abusive boyfriend- He’s handsome and charming, but also very skilled at manipulation. If you watch their relationship, it also falls into a lot of the same patterns as romantic comedies. That’s not meant as a compliment however, a lot of romantic comedy relationships are built on very questionable foundations. The leading men do a variety of unethical things, but are forgiven on behalf of being handsome and funny and those actions are forgiven and even romanticized for the sake of the love story. This also reminds me of Maeve and Isaac. How often does he push himself uninvited into her life? How often does he managed to get out of facing the consequences of his actions?
It’s a fairly common trope tbh, and the only thing that isn’t common is that he’s also physically disabled. Which honestly lead me to doubt whether or not he was being sketchy or not. Like, could I be wrong? I eventually concluded that I don’t think I was, but it leads me to consider the fact of his disability on viewer perception.
Are viewers more likely to forgive his behavior because his wheelchair paints him in a more sympathetic light? That isn’t to say that everyone who likes him only does so because of the wheelchair - I’m sure some people just legitimately like him- but I wonder how many do? And why? Is it because you feel bad for the character? Or is it because, as our only disabled character, we are programmed to view him as a protagonist? Is his disability part of an effort to be more inclusive, or to subtly subvert our expectations regarding his character? Neither? Both?
If he is indeed going to be an antagonist then that raises further questions in regards to Isaac as disability representation. On the one hand, it’s not like being in a wheelchair automatically makes someone a good person- as with any other demographic of people there are going to be nice guys and assholes.
Is it better that they’re treating him like they would anyone else? Like, he’s just a regular guy who happens to be in a wheelchair, and the guy that he is, is prone to questionable behavior. Is it better that they’re treating him the same as they would any other able bodied character in this role? Or, as their only depiction of a disabled character, should they be portraying him in a more positive light? I personally find him to be very manipulative, and often he uses his disability as a part of his manipulation. Is that just an example of Isaac being opportunistic and using the resources available to him, or is it indicitive of a larger problem with his depiction?
Have physically disabled people faced the same issues in media as other groups, in that their depictions were historically negative? I’m going to be honest with you here, that’s not a question I know the answer to. I haven’t seen them largely portrayed as villains, but that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t happened.
I don’t know the answer to any of these questions, and I won’t until I see where season 3 plans on taking this, but these are the thoughts that have been circling my mind since I finished season 2. Do you agree? Disagree? Did any of this even make sense?

You know one thing that really, really bothers me about Danny and Melissa, which I haven’t mentioned much in the past because it’s a tricky subject? How big their age difference potentially is. Rest under the cut because it’s not really a fun post.
So yeah, age difference. I mean, I really don’t want to get into age gap discourse, so please ignore this if it upsets you in any way, but I did the math and Danny and Melissa meet (in episode 12 of season 4, which aired in January of 2014) when their actors are 37 and 20.
Thirty-seven and twenty. That’s a difference of seventeen years.
Granted, it’s entirely possible that Melissa as a character is supposed to be older than her actress actually is, but we do learn later that she got married really young to an older guy and she’s in Hawaii now to get away from that guy. It makes sense that she would at most still be in her early twenties. Either way her age is never mentioned, so the best we have to go on is the actress’s birth date, which for many characters on the show (like Danny and Steve) seems to be relatively consistent with their characters’ ages. Which... makes Danny old enough to be her dad. Only if he started very young, but still. In fact there’s probably far less of an age difference between Melissa and Grace, Danny’s daughter (who is twelve at that point), than there is between Melissa and Danny.
Seventeen years. Danny is dating someone who is twenty, possibly, which would mean she’s not even legally allowed to drink yet in the US, and there’s almost a decade less of an age difference between his girlfriend and his daughter than there is between his girlfriend and him. That’s just really, really sketchy to me in a huge way and makes me extremely uncomfortable to think about.
(And even if we suppose that Melissa isn’t twenty - if we assume her to be years older than that - then it brings up a different issue, namely one of casting, and of why on earth they would cast a woman who is twenty as a logical love interest for a guy who’s thirty-seven, which is not a much more fun subject to think about.)
-
Additionally, for comparison, here’s a list of our two main guys and their love interests on the show, with the actor’s names and years of birth according to Wikipedia. Both of them have never had an actress opposite them who was older than they were, but Melissa’s actress still stands out as by far the youngest:
Danny: Scott Caan, 1976
Rachel: Claire van der Boom, 1983
Gabby: Autumn Alicia Reeser, 1980
Amber/Melissa: Lili Simmons, 1993
Steve: Alex O'Loughlin, 1976
Catherine: Michelle Borth, 1978
Lynn: Sarah Carter, 1980
One last thing of note might be that even Rachel’s actress has seven years on Scott Caan, which would probably imply that she’s playing a character slightly older than herself (if not, Rachel would have been one month shy of eighteen when she had Grace and was already married to twenty-five-year-old Danny, which I really, REALLY hope we’re not supposed to accept as canon). That at least means it’s reasonable to assume Melissa would be older than twenty in-universe, too.

MTVS Epic Rewatch #208
Don’t forget to vote on the season 7 polls!!
BTVS 7x21 End of Days
Stray thoughts
1) So this is how Faith is doing as the leader…
Tumblr media
…and this is how Buffy is doing as the outcast Slayer…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I wonder who’s the boss… (maybe we should ask Abed.)
2) I don’t like seeing Faith hurt, but I do get a very sick (I admit it) satisfaction at seeing all these girls hurt and scared because they kicked Buffy out and they screwed everything up in the worst possible fashion. I know that by having Faith lead them into yet another trap the writers were trying to prove the point that what happened at the vineyard could’ve happened to anyone and that it wasn’t Buffy’s fault (Buffy will make this same point herself later on the episode.) Both Buffy and Faith were trying to do what they thought was best, yet it backfired. Shit happens yada yada yada. Yet I just can’t help but feel personally vindicated when I see Faith and the potentials fuck everything up so spectacularly.
On the other hand, not only was Buffy able to pull herself together after the group (and her friends! Her family!) kicked her out and made her feel like the worst piece of shit in the whole world, but she also managed to A) get the scythe and B) make Caleb nervous, which was a first. So yeah. #teamBuffy
3) So why exactly were the Scoobies looking for Buffy? I mean, didn’t they kick her out literally the day before? And now they’re suddenly worried about her or something? The only person who followed Buffy after they all kicked her out was Faith. Faith! Do you see how wrong/ironic that this? Do you see how painful it must’ve been for Buffy not to have NONE OF HER FRIENDS – not Xander, not Willow, not Giles, not even her own sister! – go after her to see if she was okay? To ask her where she was going or what she was going to do? The only person who showed any concern whatsoever about her was probably the only person she would’ve labeled a potential enemy.
Damn you all, I’m still pissed off. I hate this. I hate having to feel this way about the characters I’ve loved for seven seasons in the FINAL EPISODES OF THE SHOW. It just feels so wrong, but I can’t help but HATE THEM. What the hell was this fucking writing choice? I hate it. I hate everything about it.
4) If I have to say something in favor of Kennedy is this, when shit hit the fan, she was the only one who wasn’t screaming like a moron and who was actually trying to fight off the Turok-Han. So yeah. The girl got spunk.
5) But she’s nothing compared to our designated BAMF.
Tumblr media
6) No one is kicking Buffy out now, HUH? HUH???????????????????
7)
Tumblr media
Yes. Yes, you did.
8) And this is exactly why they shouldn’t have kicked her out or “rebelled” against her or whatever the fuck they thought they were doing.
BUFFY You guys, it was a trap. It's not her fault. That could've just as easily happened to me.
9) While I do appreciate the pun and the side glances between Buffy and Willow…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I still feel it’s very wrong they’re all just talking and Giles is playing around with the scythe as if the last time they’d been together they HADN’T HUMILIATED BUFFY AND KICKED HER OUT OF HER OWN FUCKING HOUSE???? LIKE SERIOUSLY??? In Willow’s own words, you're not gonna jokey-rhyme your way out of this one.
Like, I know the apocalypse takes precedence, but maybe say “sorry for kicking you out” and “thank you for saving us AGAIN”.
10)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
11) Again, I get the same feeling with Xander. Like, did they all suddenly forget they had left Buffy alone and kicked her out of her own house? Xander is all like, “I don’t need you to protect me just because I lost an eye” but literally a day before he was telling her it was HER fault he’d lost it, and using that as a justification not only for removing her from her role as a leader but also TO KICK HER OUT OF HER OWN HOUSE. And now it’s just like nothing ever happened? How is that possible? How is literally no one apologizing to Buffy? And not only is he not apologizing, but Buffy is telling him that he’s her heart and the reason she’s still alive, which okay, it’s all kind of true, but he’s also the guy WHO BLAMED YOU FOR LOSING HIS EYE AND WHO KICKED YOU OUT OF YOUR OWN HOUSE THE DAY BEFORE?!
I didn’t know that End of Days could make me as angry as Empty Places but here I am.
We’re 14 minutes into the episode and still, no one has apologized to Buffy and they’re all pretending like they didn’t turn their backs on her and it’s pissing me off. I hate feeling this way in the episode prior to the series finale. This is not how a fan should be feeling right before the show ends!
12) Not only do I know what a glottal stop is but I’ve also learned how to pronounce it. Or at least I was able to pronounce it a few years ago.
13) And hence the fate of Miss Kitty Fantastico was finally revealed…
DAWN Xander, my crossbow is not out here. I told you, I don't leave crossbows around all willy-nilly. Not since that time with Miss Kitty Fantastico.
If you must hate Dawn, it should only be for this.
14) Did anyone really believe Xander would hurt Dawn?
Tumblr media
15) What was the point of this scene…?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
…I mean, other than to give us Nathan Fillion’s orgasm face?
Tumblr media
16) And this is the difference between Buffy and the rest… just remember how everyone reacted and treated Buffy after the vineyard, and see how she acts here after literally the same happened with Faith in charge…
FAITH What do you want me to say? I blew it.
BUFFY You didn't blow it.
FAITH Tell that to—
BUFFY People die. You lead them into battle, they're gonna die. It doesn't matter how ready you are or how smart you are. War is about death. Needless, stupid death.
She’s understanding and reassuring, she’s not pointing fingers or kicking people out. And that’s why she’s a hero and the rest are a fucking bunch of morons. I’m sorry, I’m still so angry about Empty Places and this episode is not making things any better.
17) But I do love when my two slayers see eye to eye…
FAITH So, here's the laugh riot. My whole life I've been a loner.(…) No ties, no buddies, no relationships that lasted longer than... (…) Me, by myself all the time. I'm looking at you, everything you have, and, I don't know, jealous. Then there I am. Everybody's looking to me, trusting me to lead them, and I've never felt so alone in my entire life.
BUFFY Yeah.
FAITH And that's you every day, isn't it?
BUFFY I love my friends. I'm very grateful for them. But that's the price. Being a slayer.
FAITH There's only supposed to be one. Maybe that's why you and I can never get along. We're not supposed to exist together.
BUFFY Also, you went evil and were killing people.
FAITH Good point. Also a factor.
BUFFY But you're right. I mean, I... I guess everyone's alone. But being a slayer? There's a burden we can't share.
FAITH And no one else can feel it. Thank God we're hot chicks with superpowers.
BUFFY Takes the edge off.
FAITH Comforting.
BUFFY Mm-hmm.
This is something that had been a long time coming. Since day one, Faith had envied Buffy. Just like Buffy saw in Faith her road not taken, Faith saw in Buffy the life she could’ve had but didn’t. She envied it and she wanted it for herself. She literally tried to steal it away several times. So if she couldn’t have it, if it wasn’t meant for her, then she could take Buffy away from it, drive her to the dark side, where she lived. Every attempt was futile, even stealing Buffy’s body and literally taking her life. It only made her feel more undeserving, more inadequate, more unworthy. But every time she’d taken a shot at being the leader, it was by playing tricks, by taking what it wasn’t rightfully hers. This time around, she had somehow earned it. There was no foul play on her part. Others made the decision for her and gave her the role she’d craved for so long. And she finally understood that it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Yes, Buffy did have friends and people who looked up to her and cared about her. But when push comes to shove, when tough calls must be made, the Slayer is always alone. The weight of the world is only on her shoulders, and she can’t share the burden. It took four seasons but Faith finally got it. And she could finally let go of all the envy and jealousy.
18) I just love the fact that for the first time Buffy is the one who opens up to Spike. She’s always been the one who pretends there’s nothing between them and who skirts around her feelings and dismisses his. But not this time. And for me, it was enough that she acknowledged that it meant something, even if they – and we – don’t know exactly what that was.
BUFFY You're a dope.
SPIKE I'm a what?
BUFFY You're a dope. And a bonehead. And you're shirty.
SPIKE Have you gone completely carrot-top?
BUFFY Do you see this? This may actually help me fight my war. This might be the key to everything. And the reason I'm holding it is because of you. Because of the strength that you gave me last night. Look, I am tired of defensiveness and weird, mixed signals. You know, I have Faith for that. Let's just get to the truth here, OK? I don't know how you felt about last night, but I will not—
SPIKE Terrified.
BUFFY Of what?
SPIKE Last night was... God, I'm such a jerk. I can't do this.
BUFFY Spike...
SPIKE It was the best night of my life. If you poke fun at me, you bloody well better use that, 'cause I couldn't bear it. It may not mean that much to you, but—
BUFFY I just told you it did.
SPIKE Yeah... I hear you say it, but... I've lived for soddin' ever, Buffy. I've done everything. Done things with you I can't spell, but... I've never... been close... to anyone. Least of all, you. 'Til last night. All I did was... hold you, watch you sleep. And it was the best night of my life. So, yeah... I'm... terrified.
BUFFY You don't have to be.
SPIKE Were you there with me?
BUFFY I was.
SPIKE What does that mean?
BUFFY I don't know. Does it have to mean something?
SPIKE No. Not right now.
19) Update: 29 minutes in and I’m still waiting for someone to apologize to Buffy.
20) Am I the only who thinks this speech is okay but like, the writers were trying too hard to give Anya her “Anya Speech Moment” of the season and it kind of feels a bit, I don’t know, forced?
ANYA Well...I guess I was...kinda new to bein' around humans before. But now I've... seen a lot more, gotten to know people... seen what they're capable of, and... I guess I just realized...how amazingly screwed-up they all are. I mean really, really screwed-up in a monumental fashion. And they have no purpose that unites them, so they just drift around, blundering through life until they die...which they...they know is coming, yet every single one of them is surprised when it happens to them. They're incapable of thinking about what they want beyond the moment. They kill each other, which is clearly insane. And yet, here's the thing. When it's something that really matters, they fight. I mean, they're lame morons for fighting, but they do. They never... never quit. So I guess I will keep fighting, too.
21) #priorities
Tumblr media Tumblr media
22) And in another episode of Plots Totally Pulled Out of the Writer’s Ass… (a.k.a. Joss Whedon Tries to Rectify the Fact that He Wrote a Bunch of Men Violating the Original Slayer by Putting a Demon Inside of Her and Thus Utterly Destroyed the Whole Slayerness Equals Feminism Theme)
Tumblr media
WOMAN We forged it in secrecy and kept it hidden from the Shadow Men, who...
BUFFY Yeah. Met those guys. Didn't really care too much for 'em.
WOMAN Ahh, yes. Then you know. And they became the watchers. And the watchers watched the slayers. But we were watching them.
BUFFY Oh! So you're like... what are you?
WOMAN Guardians. Women who want to help and protect you. We forged this centuries ago, halfway around the world.
Okay, I get it, I get what you were trying to do, but it was so fucking obvious, it was so transparent. Like, I know most of the so-called metaphors in this show were not so subtle (think the fucking monster-penis in Doublemeat Palace, for instance.) But the feminist struggle in the slayer vs the council struggle was always something that I personally enjoyed. And this is how Joss’s brand of “feminism” began to crumble down, in my opinion. This is what a white dude who is a self-proclaimed feminist believes to be a Good feminist storyline, but it’s so clichéd and self-evident it's almost cringe-worthy. Like, you get a bunch of Evil Men quite literally raping a Poor Woman, who is faked Empowered (her powers were lent to her by the Evil Men and the source of her powers is Evil, Demonic in nature because  duh! she is a Woman)  so that they can Manipulate her and Use her for the benefit of the Patriarchy. But oh wait! This is a Feminist Show! So in spite of what the Evil Men who were supposedly the Powerful ones did, there always were These Great and Powerful Women behind it all, the True Guardians of the Slayer, This has been a Matriarchy all along, you see?! PLOT TWIST!
Yawn.
The worst part? I can imagine all the writers patting themselves on the back for writing such a groundbreaking and Feminist storyline and for sticking it to the Men.
23) And btw, just to show you how big a Feminist Show this is, we get this…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I guess since this is a Feminist Show and Angel is the hero here and Buffy the damsel in distress, that makes Angel a woman, right?
But hey, at least he (or she?) literally let Buffy deliver the lethal blow…
Tumblr media
24) And yes, this totally makes sense!
Tumblr media
because Angel has not claimed to be in love with Cordelia and Buffy has not just had her more honest heart-toheart with Spike. Let’s just disregard whatever arcs have been developed in both shows in order to deliver a Ship Moment for the Bangel fans, right? Who cares about character development, right? Because I’m positive this is what former lovers do after not seeing each other in over a year, being currently emotionally unavailable, and facing the greatest evil of all. Suck face.
25) Update: minute 42 and I’m STILL waiting for someone to apologize to Buffy.
26) Sorry for the bitter rant!
27)  If you’ve got this far, thank you for reading! If you enjoy my recaps and my blog, please consider supporting it on ko-fi. Thanks!

What’s your take on Netflix version of A Series of Unfortunate Events
??? ok didnt know someone cared to know
i don’t really know. I think i like it almost on principle, like i liked the hunger games movies from a technical standpoint, because i liked the books. i did stop liking those movies tho, or more likely grown kind of uninterested, so theres that. i think that in a couple years i’ll dislike the netflix show or at least become uninterested, too, but i can’t know that for sure. after all i felt i liked season one but when season two hit (and i still doubt a lot of my feelings about season two) season one felt a bit underwhelming on second watch. the movie adaptation can still feel fresh to me almost entirely by the nostalgia factor, so that’s a thing it has going for it that the show doesn’t.
apart from these first feelings i think the show is deeply fascinating just because of how dang weird it is. it just plays around with expectations of what they’d do to a children’s show and how far they’d go on the violence. it’s marked as for seven years and up but it’s also really dark and has some very dark humour, it has often a lot of dead time (because they had to fill the one hour runtime of each episode, but still, very unusual for a children’s show) and the fact that daniel handler has had so much power over the show’s script also fascinates me, since that means that the changes are all his and all the things that are retconned are because he thought there was a need for it. more often than not i don’t necessarily agree but i still think they’re pretty interesting. the way they used the snicket narration and how it deviates from the movie adaptation, for example, is endlessly fascinating to me, i want to talk about that for hours. it’s one of my favorite things about the show.
i do agree that there are a lot of details that when changed kind of change the themes of the books and that’s…… Bad. but there’s one more season and if they do it really good i guess i’d be able to forgive it. if they do it wrong, well… i don’t think we’ll get another asoue adaptation in a long while. that’s okay, i guess. there’s always the books for when someone wants the original content and themes. and deep down, the show is still a bit of a guilty pleasure. a lot of the humour is a bit cringy to me but i still find myself hypnotized by it.
also, there’s a bit of the joy similar to that of the harry potter movie series in seeing how the episodes improve and get increasingly more complex and more elaborate and better looking and the child actors get better at acting. i think that all in all the whole production, despite my criticisms on some aesthetic and casting (the whole Kit thing) decisions, really gave their all and it’s obvious in the amount of care put in the show. that does make me really happy since i think that with a show this weird you need to have everybody on board or just don’t. and that the show was so clearly made with the fans first, general audiences second is a bit selfish but also deeply satisfying. i get a little pang of pride when i recognize something, like a pavlovian dog. i’d be lying if i denied that that doesn’t affect my judgement of the show.
there’s some more things i think about the show but i don’t want this to be a whole essay.
thanks for asking! i did want to get these thoughts out of my head.

spn 2x01, liveblog, collected posts (all 11 of them) or as i like to call it: more sick!dean, also john is actually trying to be a good dude in this one, but then fucks up majorly and ugh johnny boy you fucking idiot
the truck hits them in the middle of the night. the sky is pitch black.
the paramedics arrive in broad day light.
how long did they take to get to them?
#them: don't die! we'll be there in four to seven hours! #asdfghj what the fuck?
at least the title screne looks much better
#finally some improvement
the fact that Sam is thinking that John wants to get the colt, because he still wants to kill that thing, when instead he wants to trade it and his soul for his son? reblog if u cri evry tiem
#like john wasnt a perfect dad but it is canon that he doesnt want his kids to die and that hes willing to sacrifice everything #to make sure they have the chance to a better life #(again does not fit /at all/ with the characterization of the last episode where dean said john would be pissed about wasting that bullet) #(cause canon before shows that he wouldnt be. and canon after shows that he isnt) #(ugh sorry im still frustretti spaghetti)
you know, one thing i just realized is that when Dean throws the glass of the table, John probably thinks it’s Sam’s psychic powers developing
#like he knows about sams visions he knows that the YED did something to sam #he probably knows that theres more powers than just visions #idk it doesnt make any of the things he says more excuseable especially when he tells dean to kill sam later in that episode #but it explains his motivation at least a little bit? #idk thats just my interpretation of the events
tessa!!! i love her!
#WIFE!
dean in season 2: you can’t kill death
dean later on: kills reapers. kills death.
#asdfghjk #its just very funny to me how they start out the show with all those worries #and like... just a little bit later they are like: aight time for murder
and of course, John here starts the cycle of selling one’s soul to hell for the others survivial, but you know at least he only does it once? that’s a bonus.
i really love that new actor of the YED, he’s really good
the yellow eyed demon possessing tessa and then the “today’s your lucky day, kid” is so creepy and so well done!!!
don’t be scared, Dean” (but like if your brothers turns out evil, you gotta kill him)
John, you just had a really touching and amazing scene with your kids and you messed it up big time. Johnny boy, that’s not how to do this.
#i made you grow up to fast! (you might have to kill your brother also!!! BYE!!!) #like thats the worst
the static shot with the coffee cup falling to the ground and sam rushing to john, is also very nice
#i love the cinnamon topography sometimes

Glowing Skull Analysis
I don’t know how I still have the will to analyse this crappy season, but here I am.
The glowing skull has been driving me utterly crazy since 1st of January and I trully want to figure out what is about.
I’ve been talking with @lookingforawaybacktonarnia, @monikakrasnorada, @loveteaelephants, @goodmythicalmail and @sherchemistlock about it but even then we can’t come to a final conclusion, so I’d love to know what your opinion is.
I watched the whole season again (yes, I suffered again watching that thing) and I compiled all the dialogue we can hear while the skull is shown, either glowing or not. Also, I specified if the two lamps in that wall are on or off as it may be important, cause we can see them turning off and on in some scenes, and it makes no sense. I added numbers to each scene so you can see how the skull looks in the pic I attach at the end. You can click here if you want to see it right now. (right click, open new window if my tumblr behaves stupid) Just search for the same number.
This is gonna be long, but mostly because of the dialogues, you can skip to the end to see my conclussions, but if you want to look if there’s any conection between the dialogues and the skull glowing, you can read them.
THE SIX THATCHERS:
1.      Minute 13:10  ➤ GLOWING. Lestrade comes in and explains  them the “Charlie” case (two lamps on)
- Lestrade: “The son who was in tibet, DNA all checks out.”[…] “Night of the party the car is empty. Then a week later… the dead boy is found at the wheel.”   - John: “The seats?”  - Sherlock: “Yes, the car seats.” - Lestrade: “Yeah, Right…” - John: “theres’s something else” - Lestrade: “Yes please.”  - Sherlock: “One condition.” - Lestrade: “Okay.”   - Sherlock: “Take all the credit”  - Lestrade: “Yeah, you say that, and then John blogs about it, and you get all the credit anyway. Which makes me look like some kind of prima Donna who insists on getting credit for something he didn’t do. So, you take all the glory, thank you. Just solve the bloody thing will you? it’s driving me nuts.”
2.       Minute 25:09  ➤  GLOWING. Sherlock talks to the client who wants to know why his wife left him. (two lamps on)
- Sherlock: “Now, you haven’t always been in life insurance, have you? You started out in manual labour. Oh, don’t bother being astonished. Your right hand’s almost an entire size bigger than your left.” - Client: “Oh, I was a carpenter, like my dad.”[…] “How the hell… Yes, E-cigarettes.” - Sherlock: “But you’re convinced you can give up, so…You don’t want to buy a pipe, because that means you’re not serious about quitting.” - John: “Yeah? It’s been there since 9:00 this morning.” - Sherlock: “Has it? Where were you?” - Client: “What about my girlfriend?” - Sherlock: “What?” - Client: “You said I had an ex.” - Sherlock: “You’ve got a Japanese tattoo in the crook of your elbow in the name akako.” - Client: “But surely that means I want to forget her, not that I’m indifferent.”[…] “I thought you’d done something clever. Oh, no. No, but now you’ve explained it. It’s dead simple, innit?” […] “what do you mean?” - Sherlock: “Have you ever wondered if your wife was a little bit out of your league?” […] “This drug will then render the president entirely susceptible to the will of that new master.” - Client: “What?” - Sherlock: “Moriarty will then use the president as a pawn . tipping the balance in favour of a first-strike policy against Russia.” - Client: “I don’t. Just the bras.” - John: “So. What’s this all about, then?” - Sherlock: “Having fun”
(continuation) Lestrade showing them the Thatcher bust. - Lestrade: “Oh, I think you’ll like it.”  “Different part of town.” “What’s wrong? I thought you’d be pleased.”
- Sherlock: “I am pleased.” - Lestrade: “You don’t look pleased.”
3.       Minute 42:15 ➤  GLOWING. Sherlock with AGRA USB in Baker Street (two lamps on) - Sherlock: “Well?” - Lestrade: “He can’t have got far. We’ll have him in a bit.” - Sherlock: “I very much doubt it.” - Lestrade: “Why?” - Sherlock: “Because I think he used to work with Mary.”
 4.       Minute 6:48 ➤ NO GLOWING. Sherlock is with a client who killed his brother cause of amnesia. (two lamps on)
- Sherlock: “The heart medication you are taking is known to cause bouts of amnesia.”
- Client: “Yes, I think so. Why?”
THE LYING DETECTIVE:
5.       Minute 12:30 ➤  GLOWING. Faith scene (two lamps on)
- Faith: “I don’t understand.” […]  “How?” […] “So, what do you think? My case”
The next scene was hard to write down so sorry if it’s hard to follow, you can look at the pics, they can help.
Sherlock walking on Baker Street walls :
GLOWING:
 6.       Sherlock walking on Baker Street walls:
Minute 26:00 ➤  Just arrived at Baker Street (we can only see the left lamp on) - Wiggins: “They found your address. They brought you here.” (lamps off)
 7.       Minute 26:03 ➤  Sherlock disoriented
- Wiggins: “You’ve had too much. And that’s me saying it.” (lamps off)   Minute 26:27 - Sherlock: “They’re always poor, and lonely, and strange. But those are only the ones we catch.” “But if you are rich, and powerful, and necessary…” “Anyone.” “What if you had the compulsion to kill and money? What then?” Minute 26:36 ➤  Sherlock spinning. (two lamps off)
 8.       NOT GLOWING :
- Minute 26:21 ➤  Sherlock starts walking on the Wall. (two lamps off)   - Minute 26:48 ➤  Sherlock   falls into the sofa (two lamps off, right lamp possition changes when the skull is not glowing.)
 9.      Minute 1:02:02 ➤   BLACK skull, only time we see it like that. (Two lamps on, and there’s a third on too.)
- John: “What are you doing?” - Mycroft: “Why fixate on culverton Smith?” - Mrs. Hudson: “What are these dreadful people doing in my house?” - Mycroft: “My brother has embarked  in a programme of self-destruction” - Mrs. Hudson: “What’s on his mind? And you’ve had all this time? You’re so funny, you are! Poor old Sherlock, always going on about you. I mean he knows you’re an idiot, But that’s okay, ‘cause you are a lovely doctor. But he has no idea what an idiot you are! You want to know what’s bothering Sherlock? Easiest thing in the world, anyone can do it.” […] “Well, what does he do with anything he can’t answer, John? Every time.” - John: “He stabs it” - Mrs. Hudson: “And that’s his departed wife.”
10.     Minute 1:20:34 ➤  GLOWING. John says he cheated on Mary. (two lamps on)
- John: “I cheated on you, Mary.”
 11.   Minute 1:23:19 ➤  GLOWING. John and Sherlock are going to get cake (Lamp off, we can only see the right one)
- John: “What. What is it? What’s wrong?” - Sherlock: “Isn’t that right, Mary?”
 THE FINAL PROBLEM:
12.      Minute 7:47 ➤  NOT GLOWING: Mycroft in Baker Street (two lamps on)
- Mrs. Hudson: “ You have to sit in the chair” - Mycroft: “So, what happens now? Are you going to make deductions?”[…]“The roads we walk have demons beneath. And yours have been waiting for a very long time.”[…] “I used, at discreet intervals, potential trigger words to update myself as to your mental condition.”[…] “Seven years between myself and Sherlock, one year between Sherlock and Eurus.”[…]“She was incandescent, even then.”
13.      Minute 16:21 ➤  GLOWING. Mycroft explains what the grenade is. (two lamps on)
- Mycroft: “It’s a DX-707. I’ve authorised the purchase of quite a number of these.”[…]“The motion sensor has activated.  If any of us move, the grenade will detonate. Assuming walls of reasonable strength. I am moved to wonder if the cafe below is open.” […] “ We have a maximum of three seconds to vacate the blast radius.” […] “Yes, agreed.”
14.     Minute 18:28 ➤  GLOWING. (not sure though, I think when is off it looks more Brown-ish like in number 12).  Running away from the grenade. (two lamps off)  you can see how the lamps suddently are off in here)
15.     Minute 1:27:27  ➤ GLOWING. Sherlock and John together in Baker Street.
16.     Minute 1:27:38//1:28:00  ➤  GLOWING. When we see the cases they’re working on. (left lamp on, we can see it only in the ventriloquist one.)
- Mary narrating: “there is always one last hope.” “like they’ve always been there, and they always will.”
17.     Minute 14:38 Continuation of 12 (sorry I didn’t notice this one before and had to put it in the end.) ➤  GLOWING.
- Mycroft: “This is the story I told our parents to spare them further pain, and to account for the absence of an identifiable body.”[…] “The depth of Eurus’s psychosis and the extent of her abilities couldn’t hope to be contained in any ordinary institution. Uncle Rudi took care of things. There’s a place called Sherrinford. An island. It’s a secure and very secretive installation whose sole purpose is to contain what we call the uncontainables.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
 CONCLUSIONS:
-    The state of the skull seems bound to Sherlock ➤  The only moment in which Sherlock is NOT in the room is when the skull is black.  I love John’s MP theory but this moment here and the fact that we see the skull in the 3 episodes is what makes me be not 100% sure about that theory.
-   Connection between skull and drugs ➤  The only episode in which we can see the skull trully blue is in TLD, the only one in which TS12 is named. Also Baker Street kichen’s (where Sherlock has drugs) colour is similar to the one of the skull. Also we are shown TD12 illuminated.
-   Connection between skull and MP  ➤ Arwel said on Twitter the skull is like the base sliding in HLV, that happens when Sherlock is entering/is in MP  (you can see the whole tweet Exchange in here) Also, if you look at the moment in number 5, you can see how John seems not the be present (just the balloon), first he dissapears and then we are shown only the balloon while John speaks (27:42) and yes, the skull is glowing. Another moment with an MP feel is when Sherlock walks in Baker Street walls, the skull starts glowing when he starts walking on the walls, and then when he falls into the sofa stops glowing.
-    The sentences they say while we see the skull glowing, together, make no sense, so it seems we can rule it out. (if anyone find any kind of code in the sentences please tell me) -  Also, @monikakrasnorada thought about the skull as a CT Scan, you can read it here
-   Talking to @goodmythicalmail she told me she thinks is it’s linked to how close Sherlock is to dying / his depth into the dream.
If you have any other theory or if you have something else to back up the ones above, just reply to this post. ^^ (also please tell me if there’s any mistake cause my brain is off after writing all this.)

I had so much fun at TBF this year, if any of you live near Rochester, NY I would 100% recommend coming next year and meeting all of the fantastic authors! It’s a super fun, engaging, and easygoing experience.
****Caution: Spoilers Ahead****
The panels throughout the day were run by a moderator and no audience questions were able to be asked due to the sheer volume of people that attended the event and the length of the panels. This is what I found out through the moderator’s questions:
Sarah was an intense badminton player in college (really. really. intense.
Sarah’s had always hoped that her patronus was a velociraptor, but in realty its an Occamy
Reneé is obsessed with snake rings.
Reneé loves bingeing True Blood and eating Hot Cheetos for hours on end.
Reneé’s patronus is a Rat- something that she originally took great offense to, but has now come to terms with.
Reneé once watched a seven hour documentary on how to make a katana
Both authors spend copious amounts of time learning about random (and not so random) information about different cultures and time periods.
Both authors really really really love Tamora Pierce. At separate times, they met the author and had complete meltdowns trying to tell her how awesome and amazing she is, and how much work she did in the way of paving the road for other female fantasy writers.
Sarah even told us a story about how she read this very cool article she read explaining the history behind painted on beauty marks. She said that at their beginning, they were different shapes, like hearts, stars and circles, that were cut out of black silk. The number of shapes on a person’s face was reflective of their place in society- the more designs that a person had, the more likely it was that they were a prostitute, using the wild decorations to cover up sores from STDs and their inaccessibility to health and skin care.
Both authors also talked about their obsessions with mythology. They both really enjoy the Russian folktale of Baba Yaga, who is essentially the most evil ever, and makes the Weaver look like a fluffy baby duck.
Sarah also touched on her adoration for the Norwegian fairytale East of the Sun, West of the Moon. It tells the story of a girl who finds her true love, only to have him stolen away by an evil fairy queen. The girl then decides to go after him, having to solve riddles and best monsters in order to save him- which she eventually does. Sarah actually based the original plot of ACOTAR on East of the Sun, West of the Moon.
Rhys wasn’t actually supposed to have the role that he did, but then he presented himself at Calanmai and Sarah couldn’t deny Feyre's and Rhys’ chemistry. When she would write Tamlin and Feyre having intimate moments she would cringe so hard. Then she would write a scene between Rhys and Feyre and almost not be able to be around them because they were so intense together.
Which fictional villain would Sarah and Reneé most enjoy taking down?
Dolores Umbridge: In the end, she gets what’s coming to her, and it’s satisfying because everyone has a Dolores in their life, where most people never really encounter true, pure evil like Voldemort.
Sarah’s Fictional BFFs are:
Hermione
Sailor Moon
Katara
Buffy
Reneé’s Fictional BFFs are:
Aria
Breanne of Tarth
Crushes:
Reneé-
Jason Momoa
That Hot South Korean Body Guard
Rhys
Sarah didn’t even get to her list- she looked up the body guard and then spent like five minutes ogling the body guard and wiping her sweaty palms on her pants and being very flustered.
Favorite YA Ships:
Reneé:
Alliyah and Darkling from Leigh Bardougho’s Shadow and Bone
Feyre and Rhys from Sarah’s ACOTAR
Alanna and George from Tamora Peirce’s Song of the Lioness Series
Sarah:
Karou and Akiva from Lani Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone
Shazi and Khalid from Reneé's The Wrath and The Dawn
What kind of Instagrams would your characters have?
Shazi: Selfie Queen
Dorian: All of the books. His account would be called “Hot Boys Reading"
Aedion: Shameless Selfies
Rhys: “Candids” taken by Feyre that showcase Rhys’ endless beauty
Is there a Theme Song for series or any part of your books?:
Sarah:
Throne of Glass, Killer Queen by Queen or Back in Black by ACDC
Sarah meditated to Kanye in order to get in the headspace to write Heir of Fire
A Court of Wings and Ruin: Cosmic Love by Florence and the Machine
Sarah meditated to Kanye in order to get in the headspace to write Heir of Fire
Reneé
The Wrath and The Dawn: The civil wars
Flame in the Mist: Bangarang by Skrillex
What Reality TV Shows would your characters excel at?:
Aelin (depending on her mood): American Ninja Warrior, Say Yes to the Dress, Real House Wives
Feyre: “She’s not cheery enough” She would try to be on an art show, and then just be like, “So yeah, this is my painting"
Shazi: The Price is Right, “The Long Lost Kardashian"
Mariko: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
Who Would be the Best Dressed at Prom?:
RHYS. He would most likely do the most dramatic entrance possible. He would enter at the top of a grand staircase, and a spotlight would focus on him and he would open his wings, and glitter would fly everywhere- making him look like pure magic.
Khalid would see Rhys enter and would just feel so upstaged, and would be looking very beautiful himself, but then theres RHYS and he just spends the rest of the night sulking in the shadows, following Rhys.
What would your characters major in in college?
Aelin: Music
Feyre: Art or Art History
Shazi: Political Science or English (something with a lot of analytical thinking)
Favorite Strong Female Characters:
Both authors understand why this question is necessary, but they wish that is wasn’t. Reneé said that to her, a ‘strong character’ is just a well rounded character, whether thats a man or a woman. Strength isn’t just physical, it’s mental, and of the soul and of the heart. Sarah said that one of her favorite female heroines that exemplified this is Buffy- Buffy is a badass, but she’s also girly. Buffy is who she wants to be, and who she needs to be. She’s brave, and intelligent, and kind and beautiful, and all of those characteristics make her into the amazing heroine that she is.
Sarah, what’s coming next?:
Tower of Dawn: Get the tissues ready. Sarah sat down to write a novella, and at the end of one day, she had 20k words- at the end of five she had 100k. Now Tower of Dawn is about the same length as Empire of Storms. She said that she can’t share anything about the cover yet, but we should be getting a cover reveal soonish, and she really loves the cover. Tower of Dawn was and is a story close to her heart, and it didn’t and still doesn’t feel like work to write it. The events of this book take place at the same time as Empire of Storms, and you absolutely have to read it in order to understand the action that takes place in the last book. She also said that the culture in the Southern Continent is loosely based on the Mongols and Genghis Kahn- she’s obsessed with the culture and the time period.
Catwoman: Sarah is working on a retelling of the origin story of Catwoman, one of her favorite anti-heroines ever.
World of Throne of Glass: Super exciting project, it’ll be almost like an encyclopedia of names and places and facts about the series and the world it’s set in.
The Final Throne of Glass book. Sarah said that this summer will be the summer of many tears as she sits down to end the series. She’s both excited and terrified, because this story has been part of her for so long
Reneé’s new series, Flame in the Mist, features Mariko, a super badass girl who is almost assassinated, but then disguises herself as a man and infiltrates the organization of assassins that tried to kill her. Reneé said that the story pulls elements from 47 Ronin and Mulan, and features all of the gender bending- something that she is very excited about.
Sarah told us that she’s a cinematic writer, meaning that as she writes, she sees the events playing out like a movie in her head, and really gets to experience everything with her characters. This is part of the reason she loves bingeing TV so much- she likes learning about new and different ways of storytelling. The storytelling in TV is a lot like the storytelling in books- each episode is a chapter and each season is a book. Sarah and Reneé agree that watching TV is great research because it allows your mind to put away little tidbits for later, but also be sort of mindless.
Towards the end of the day, I asked Sarah my burning question for her: How did Aelin get the name Celaena? Did she choose it herself? Did Arobynn pick it? Will we ever find out?
Sarah responded that she couldn’t actually tell me because it was going to be a /thing/ in either the last Throne of Glass book, or in a “novella” but we all know how things went when she wrote Chaol’s novella, so you never know.
If anyone has any questions feel free to message me! I would love to hear from you!

Gigi / other admins what are your predictions for TO season five, like honest predicitions not unrealistic ones? also why do you carry on the blog when you say you no longer like the show?
My (Gigi) honest opinions are here:
First and foremost I predict this is the last. I don’t think they’ll have another season, and I think the writers will be aware they’re writing their last.
Unnecessary teen drama fuelled by daddy issues with Hope because her father never picked up the phone despite breaking the rules and visiting Elijah (lord don’t get me started) and first love boyfriend drama with Roman. First two/three episodes will jump around with different locations including the school but i think by episode four they’ll all be home in new orleans (I’m predicting now Roman will die, probably similarly to Jackson in that he died because he was too close to a member of the family.)
I suspect they’ll have Hayley either go with “I never stopped loving you Elijah” or ‘learn’ to love the new Elijah, or just be plain over the battery, I’m a bit 50/50 on how quickly they’ll get his memories back. I have a feeling Elijah will have a new love interest who will fail to hold his attention once Hayley is back in his life or he gets his memories back, I suspect Hayley may also have a new LI who will have 30 seconds screentime total and will also be ditched in favour of H/E. We’ll probably learn little about what Hayley’s been doing in the past decade or so, she prolly wont have a job or have picked up a new hobby and they’ll once again make out like every waking moment was spent trying to get the mikaelsons together again and she just didn’t have timeeee for herself (or they’ll make out like she aint even bothered because that wouldn’t surprise me either with the way nobody including hayley fought to keep them all together at the end of last season)
I suspect we’ll have minimal Rebekah as per season 2/3 due to the fact Claire’s new series got picked up to order, I think we might have Kol/Davina drop in together every now and then, depending on when Danielle wants to film. (Though even if she was completely free I dont think they’d ever bring them both to mains)
I’m monumentally disappointed with the lack of flashbacks this season, I really am, but with the cut down time I suspect there’ll be the same amount in s5, then again if Klaus really does return back to how he used to be due to losing Hope (literally and figuratively), maybe we’ll get some more so they can draw comparison. Josh will probably be the same as he was this season as well, they’ll make a reminder that he has a boyfriend or something and then never show the guy again, then he’ll be used randomly as/when to fit plans. We’ll prolly have a couple of shots of Cami’s grave again so I suspect that’ll remain the same.
I predict that Rebel will have broken up by the first episode and Marcel will be back in New Orleans. (small chance they’ll break up in the first episode after realising that it just isn’t working out and they’ll make a show of Rebekah staying wherever they are at that moment and Marcel going home. I suspect Rebekah/Marcel will have been in a very tumultuous on/off again for the past 7/8 years) Rebekah will drop in when the drama starts and they need her for something, her and Marcel will gaze longingly and may have gotten it on again by the end of the season.
I suspect that Freya/Keelin will be ridiculously happy and soppy though Freya will feel guilty over how long her family have been separated. Keelin will comfort her and that will lead to more soppy stuff. The writers have made it v clear they’re all in for this relationship to be happy and not end so there’s really not that much to ‘predict’ with this one.
Hope will probably have Bonnie/Davina level powers that she’s still not got amazing amounts of control over due to the sheer level of power she has. Will probably lose control a lot.
Vincent... idk about Vincent, he’ll prolly have his own sideplot that’ll link into the main somehow. Same goes for Marcel, I dont really know where they’d go with him.
I think The Hollow plot will be solved by episode 2 and then the s5 villain will problem will take root in episode 3, like in this season just passed, where season 3′s problem was solved at the end of episode 2 and then the hollow came in and messed it up for them when they finally thought they were gonna be okay.
Klaus... I’m with everyone else they’ll probably have Klaus with an old edge to him because he’s feeling bitter that once again he’s had to give up his child in order for his family to be okay, and for all he has had growth in the past couple of years, this is klaus we’re talking about, it *will* get to him deep down that his family get to go off and basically be perfectly happy with their partners and elijah gets to unburden himself of them all but he gets jack shit and cant be with Hope once again.  But then again we were told to expect Klaus with PTSD from the dungeon and he had a total of one scene where we saw the effects of that so whoooo knows if they’ll make it effect him.
Depending on what capacity they get Candice I suspect they’ll have Caroline be the light in his life again or whatever when he can finally go near Hope again and he don’t know how to act they’ll have Caroline act like she knows her better than anyone else since she’s been her teacher (yeah the vampire teaching the witch, okay, whatever, moving on) and will help Klaus with Hope.
Ric will probably make a cameo in either the first episode or an episode later down the season.
There’ll probably be a K/D, H/E, R/M & K/C endgame. But i wouldn’t be surprised if they had it so R/M weren’t actually endgame and have them accept that they’re always gonna love each other but it’s never gonna work out.
I’ve heard talks of a Hope spinoff, and maybe there is an actual plan in JP’s head for this or maybe there isn’t, But I guarantee you that if they do a backdoor pilot (prolly where Alaric will actually enter) then it’ll flop. Theres no longer a market for that kinda show. Not a TVD meets Harry Potter meets Buffy which is how I expect they’ll try play it off. I think Hope was aged up because they had no idea what to do with a seven year old tbh, and this is the CW, so there *must* be some sort of romance with a central character. Hence Roman. I suspect Hope will be bratty and have an attitude and wont be the shy completely selfless kid we met in s4, and they’ll probably either try saying it’s her genetics or because Klaus wasn’t around enough.
(my unrealistic hopes though are hayley having an actual job and maybe going back to the pack since it was confirmed she was still living in new orleans and being an alpha and liaising with Vincent to be the head of the wolf faction again, having more flashbacks, minimal daddy issue drama with hope, more haycel/hopecel, little interference from TVD including MF, and not stringing out the elijah drama, if you’re gonna give him back his memories just doooo it don’t make it last all season, also freya getting a job might be cool, and learning vincents actual job when he’s not casting spells... you know... just saying)
I still run this blog because I’ve invested a fuckton of time into it, this blog is like my baby tbh, and I still love Hayley as a character even though I’m not okay with the show rn or tbh a lot of the way Hayley is written, she’s still a character that I very much so cannot let go of just yet. Also I found out that Carina will be a producer this year which I let fill me with a tiny bit of Hope because whilst she may not have ultimate power on the actual plot like Julie does, she’s very much so always been very pro Hayley and has always written incredible scenes for her, and has also written some very decent K/H/ scenes (whether or not she or anyone else ships them romantically, some of the best K/H scenes where they talk about Hope have been written by her)
Royal I’m assuming doesn’t care enough to give a prediction for s5 because she’s over the show, I know from speaking to her though that she’s still part of the blog because she enjoys the company (ayyyy) and has also been here from the very start and has invested a lot into it. Royal’s done a lot for the blog BTS.
And this is Sarah’s response:
My predictions for the show are pretty bleak (for me). I don't like this time jump. At all. Literally, there is not a single thing I like about it. I think they built the show on Klaus' redemption being through being a father to Hope, and yet he's spent literally less than two years actually raising her. So, what's the point of him being a father if he's not actually being a father? You providing biological material and/or money and possessions does not make you a father. He got what - two months with her where she could actually form memories and half the time he was fighting a big bad. Yes, his sacrifice was noble...I guess.
So, we're gonna get Hope with daddy issues. Which is very valid for her to have because she can't actually spend quality time with her father. And she apparently doesn't get to be raised by her mother. But that's all good because saint Caroline has a school she can attend and that's super more important than her being raised by her mother. Obviously, there's no witches in NOLA who could teach her. No witch children she could make friends with (or werewolf children for that matter). Nope. None. Not a single one. Certainly none with the last name Mikaelson. Noooooope. Can't think of a single witch who could teach her.
Also, add in the fact that the sides that were released (which I doubt will make it onto the show) have Hope completely isolated and has no friends because everyone is scared of her. But totally worth not being raised for extended amounts of time by either of her parents for her to not have friends...she gets a boyfriend though!!!!!!! And that's all that matters, right?
Basically, I think they aged up Hope because now they can push the magic school spin-off with Hope as the lead once the Originals ends. They're baiting other fans in with talk of Caroline and KC and whether they actually go through and produce either - who knows.
I think eventually they'll get back to NOLA. Hope will leave the school (since apparently she has no friends there in the first place). Her boyfriend will follow and be creepy like all the male vampires on this show. But she'll ignore it because he's dreamy and dangerous and blah blah blah. The show will continue reusing plot lines and nothing will actually ever happen or be accomplished. Somehow the Mikaelsons will put the Hollow down for good and we'll see Klaus again not knowing how to be a father/trying to make up for lost time because that's all the writers apparently know how to write. Maybe we'll get big bad Klaus again, and when he's finally reunited with Hope, he'll start his redemption arc again. Wash, rinse, repeat.
