Thinking about Aubin having gone in an "city of shadows" after the events of the Rite of Rising -

Given how he was alive when he gave 1k years later his blood to Yuri, we can strike out Shambala, but what this "city of shadows" refers to?

What would later become the Abyss? (Yuri is thus walking in Aubin's steps, unknowingly?) or another Agarthan city?

I always thought he hid somewhere - in the "shadows" of history, like Seteth watching over Flayn - but now I'm even more curious.

In the illustrations, we see Aubin going inside a walled but guarded city : it's not an underground city but it looks like one with a lot of buildings (the shadows "of a city untouched by day's light?). There's also a beggar, a woman holding (sadly?) a kid and an old person (with the red beard).

Since we know Aubin later helped Yuri without asking for anything in exchange as repayment for sheltering him - is this implying Aubin went to help poor and downrotten people who were, at the time of this story (in 185!), living near those "overbuilt" cities?

BTW,

I love how Tim went to the "lush forests of Adrestia's mountains" and most likely settled there - Hapi says she was caught by Cleo when she ran away from her place, and I can't believe she would have been able to cross anywhere from Adrestia to Faerghus on her own, so either she already knew how to warp, or the "forests of Adrestia's mountains" in this tale refer to a place in modern day Faerghus with giant rabbits ?

I rant and rant and rant a lot about the Fodlan games, but lbr, those illustrations are kickass : it's a nice change from the artistic direction (?) of the game itself and unlike anything we've seen in the series, almost as if those things straight out come from a fairy tale book. Sure it's nothing more than, in practice, a plot dump, but the way this plot is conveyed both fit in the ludonarration : this looks like a fairy tale book, because this tale is the one passed down from generation to generations and it's totes completely made up and not what truly happened a long time ago
