My one solid "I won't take other opinions you're wrong" take on murderbot is that it was a MISTAKE rewriting the scene where mensah followed it after the creature attack. Taking away how pitiful and sad and pathetic murderbot's narration of that whole scene was??? Why??? For what??? Why make the cubicles cool looking futuristic platforms that yes are Uncomfortable Vibes Conceptually, especially since it's naked in them, when that doesn't hit nearly as hard as it being a Cubicle that being in is Sad and Pathetic and Lonely feeling. Why take away how murderbot slunk back to its little closet and huddled in an emergency shock blanket leaking all over and was So weirded out at being checked on and was caught between being put off by her behavior and being sure SHE was put off by it's injured appearance, meanwhile she is like "oh this thing looks so sad and pathetic and hurt and HUMAN."

for me it's the way the "most transformative relationship" makes me so emotional as a viewer.

because like, you do understand what buck means, you know he means that being with abby changed him in a way that made him realize he wanted connection and real intimacy and that he wasn't up for hookups anymore; and with tommy you would instinctively say it changed him because he showed him a side of himself he didn't know, and you wouldn't be wrong, but given the conversation with josh prior it's like, not only was that but buck realized he could see a future with him, how important tommy is for him ("is his happiness at least as important to you as yours?") and that's... god I want to cry just by thinking about it.

seeing buck through the years go from "I want something long-term and meaningful" to "I can see a future with this person and I want it"?? uncontrollable sobbing rn

Thinking about how the Snow Ball kiss was literally confirmed fan service for Milkvans.

That they did not have any intention of having them kiss at the end of that season (abnormal for a romantic reunion don't you think....👀) but Millie thought that fans would be disappointed with that.

"Byler is fan service" meanwhile the writers trying to write Byler and shift away from Milkvan were making little sacrifices to give Mike and El romantic moments.

Their original intention was for Mike and El NOT to kiss and then for it to cut to WILL looking over at them dancing as *the* last shot before cutting away to the mind flayer.

really conflicted over the episode because like. there were things they did really well. i think everything that happened inside the lab was great. ravi's oxygen running out and bobby coming up with his plan to save ravi and hen. my own personal feelings about bobby's death aside i do think the way they had bobby realise his hose was punctured was pretty compelling. a real hiding a fatal wound until they can't anymore moment. and then the conversations. we've been needing more of that. but that tiny moment with hen and ravi talking about when and why you should call. immediately followed by the chim and bobby conversation about family. hen pulling her hose out and risking exposure to save her best friend. chimney waking up from bleeding out and immediately worrying about his best friend. athena making the antiviral deposit and bobby telling her to get out of there. the get my people out sign. buck coming in with his stupidass "you would not believe the day i had" to try to lighten the mood. i think these moments were what made the episode sing. the only problem is tim thinks a two minute long snail's pace helicopter chase is more interesting than these scenes.

Tuvok is not as autistic coded in-narrative compared to what I've seen of Spock or T'Pol where they're othered heavily by those around them and have themes and arcs about struggling/striving to fit in BUT I do think he provides the vital autistic representation of not really angsting about your differences from other people because you're too busy and unaware and then even when you ARE made aware you mostly just think 'glad that's not me'. I think it's vital to have that sort of totally unbothered rep. I love that Tuvok is completely satisfied and proud of being Vulcan, doesn't long to experience emotion or struggle with a desire to express himself in a way his crewmates will understand, to be closer to them. I love that he has a long time and close friend that respects who he is and doesn't try to change him and that how close they are isn't framed as being in spite of his Vulcan nature. I love that being Vulcan isn't framed as a hindrance to him, like a roadblock to living a full and rich life. He has a wife and four kids and is a devoted husband and father. He's getting into gay horror scenarios. Tuvok was born on autism planet and he's thriving.
