like guys i promise im aware blossomfall is meant to be a glass child. i just think she’s a poorly written one lmao
#tbh thats why my feelings on her are so strong. its a delicate topic for kids but time and time again#its been handled extremely poorly and just used as an excuse to hate disabled people#i think my exhaustion with these stories is bc they were sorta shoved down my throat by the school board growing up#because they heard ‘’wow you got TWO autistic brothers??? your life must SUCK ASS AND BALLS have this book abt how autism ruins families’’#wow cool i feel so much better guys. both about the ableism my family faces in general and about my undiagnosed autism#if i had to think. and i havent read this in forever so i could be misremembering. i think a decent example of a glass child trope#is the sister from ‘’wonder’’ (the book. idk what the movie did)#because while she’s an important character who struggles with internalized ableism#the focus is still on auggie and HIS struggles with his own disability and the ableism he faces as a result#and the sister isnt demonized for her feelings but she does still have to grapple with them#and accept her situation and that no one is at fault or anything. its just a consequence of an ableist society more than anything#again. been forever and ever since i read that book and iirc it does still have iffy shit like the one chapter on genetics#like to this day that sticks out as an uncomfortable chapter and idk if i can say its fantastic rep bc of that#but idk. i remember liking it fine as a kid#i always appreciated books that tried to get into multiple perspectives on the issues#also this is just me and ik it goes against the definition of the term#but man. kinda wish we’d get a glass child character thats also disabled and their disability is undiagnosed or ignored#for the sake of only prioritizing their sibling and bc they have to be ‘’the perfect abled child’’#because thats my story lol#wasnt allowed to be disabled or imperfect or need help because being a third disabled kid wouldve been too much

ok but I have Thoughts about the way Minecraft usernames translate to actual names, both irl and in fanfic. They’re definitely ‘obsessed with structure and grumpy at inconsistency flavor autism’ thoughts but still. I find it weird how we cut and paste the media we’re given to fit what we view as functional worldbuilding, and how that gets screwy when translating online names.
like, you’re working with several categories here. The person’s actual real name, their irl nickname, their gamer tag, a name possibly contained by or possibly the entirety of that gamer tag, and any extra pieces or symbols in the gamer tag. And you have the weird situation where those categories might not easily translate to a ‘First Name Last Name’ structure. For an example, we’ve got Phil Watson, who’s gamer tag is ‘Ph1LzA,’ and is called Philza Minecraft or Philza. The ‘Minecraft last name’ is a…. Bit? A joke? A reference to a bit of lore? It’s unclear. The ‘Za’ bit was put there for flair and is now an integral part of his name. Sometimes it’s his last name. Sometimes his real last name is chucked in there. the 1 in his actual username is literally never referenced in nicknames or fic it’s like it’s not even there. But that’s a simple one. What about Tubbo_? because we call him Tubbo Underscore. Like. We say the ‘_’ aloud. Why do we do that. What has possessed us to make that decision? What about FitMC? I’ve usually heard it said ‘Fit Emsee.’ Why say that, and not say ‘Minecraft? That’s not even really a last name, it’s just like…. His full first name. Fit is used more like a shortened nickname. BadBoyHalo. Like. ‘Bad boy’ is a slang term, not a name. It would make the most sense to call him Halo, that’s the distinct noun in the name, the term the ‘bad boy’ bit is referring to. Like ‘GoodTimesWithScar’ but noooo. Bad. Halo is usually a last name, if it’s there at all. Skeppy on the other hand is… just his name. No last name ever. Technoblade is also weird. Technoblade is his full name. We call him that. We ALSO call him ‘Techno,’ and use Blade as a last name. We also use Blade as a title. What the heck. GeminiTay. We call her Gem. We use Tay as a last name sometimes. Her name is a Zodiac constellation. Literally nowhere I’m have I seen that affect her naming conventions. IJevin. We just… remove the I. For everything. This wouldn’t bother me except we don’t do it with everyone and I’m starting to get annoyed by the inconsistency. GoodTimesWithScar. Ok. This one also bugs me. Like, most fics call him Scar Goodtimes when they need a name. I’m not gonna dig into it but that’s…. Why? Why that? Grian never gets a last name. Ranboo sometimes gets chopped into Ran and Boo but usually he’s an Underscore or he’s last nameless. Wilbur Soot functions wonderfully (until the get involved shhhh) but it’s too close to his real name it gets very confusing.
anyway, all of this sucks, I hate it all, we’re a terrible fandom /hj
all that nonsense aside, yknow who has a functional Firstname Lastname username? It’s even got a space, and proper capitals: Mumbo Jumbo. That’s who. Look at that. It’s perfect. Everyone should be more like Mumbo Jumbo. Thank you and good night.
.
Edit: I know about Ranboo Beloved and Grian Dreamslayer and the various other characters whose names I didn’t mention perfectly in this post. This was no piece of journalism, this was an old man shouts at cloud meme personified. I was very overstimulated and this was what happened to catch my autistic ire. I’m not upset, just figured I’d clarify, a lot of people seem distressed at my not mentioning Beloved. Hope y’all are having a lovely day 💜

Hey there, saw you were so short requests for Astarion. I'll make it short and simple for ideas. How about either; autistic-coded, plus size or shorter! Tav relationship with Astarion headcanon ideas?
Thanks for the ask. I decided to go with autistic Tav since I actually have an idea for a plus size Tav rolling around my idea doc.
Astarion x Autistic GN!Reader Headcanons
Astarion is so pretty, he intimidates you. You’ve always been an outsider, and the people that put you down the most are always the pretty, perfect, definitely not weird people.
Despite this, you start to find him nice enough, even letting him feed on you.
When Astarion starts flirting with you, you absolutely do not notice, much to his frustration.
When he eventually bluntly asks you for sex, it makes you so sad. Being the town oddball, you’re used to being propositioned as a joke. You quietly turn him down and decide Astarion isn’t your friend after all.
You keep feeding him though when he needs it. Mostly because you’re not sure how to tell him about how it made you feel.
Astarion is stunned you turned him down, sure you haven’t been responsive to his flirting, but you get along well enough. And he’s afraid, you need to be on his side since everyone looks up to you.
He tries to flirt a few more times, but he finds it hurts a little more each time you don’t reciprocate. Even worse, he starts thinking about how nice it would be if you did, even if it was just a smile thrown his way.
It’s so confusing, he stops even feeding from you, worried one night he’ll ask to just stay, to be allowed to even be in your presence for a few hours.
You’re always so quiet and reserved around him, but he starts to notice how there’s certain people you just bloom around. Karlach for example, you seem to have no problem chatting the large Tiefling’s ear off.
It would seem you just don’t like him.
One day the two of you are rummaging through a ruined house and end up in an old library. A shout from you makes him turn and ask if you’re alright.
You explain you’re excited because you found a book from this series you love. It’s these biographies of old nobles, heroes, etc., fictionalized but really fun.
You’re smiling and your eyes are so bright. Astarion’s never seen anything so beautiful.
Then it all dies in an instant. “I’m sorry, this is silly. I’m probably bothering you.”
Astarion wants to gut every person who ever made you feel that way. And he can tell there were many.
He hurries to assure you that you are not boring him, and this is not silly.
With a little prodding, you continue until the sound of Gnolls in the distance makes you both realize it’s time to go.
At the last second, he recalls he saw the author’s name in another pile that had fallen from the shelf. He plucks it out and hands it to you. “Now you have two.”
That night, you shyly turn up at his tent, asking if he’d like to borrow one.
At this point, he’d read a book Gale wrote on Tressyms just to talk with you about it.
“If you’ll stay and read with me.” He’s shocked you agree.
It’s becomes a ritual, you read together at night, and talk about it on the road during the day.
You’re finally all bright and cheerful with him, and it takes his breath away.
One night, he can’t resist and leans in to steal a kiss while you’re chatting.
You’re stunned. Normally you’d think he was making fun of you again, but now that you’ve gotten closer, it’s just confusing.
You finally have the courage to ask, and Astarion confesses how long he’s liked you.
You’re overwhelmed and take a while to speak, making Astarion afraid he’s just ruined everything.
When you do, everything spills out, as you hurriedly explain why you kept your distance.
Astarion really can’t believe that a kind, gorgeous person like yourself was some sort of strange outcast. But he is a Vampire so maybe he’s skewed.
The two of you take things slow, you don’t exactly have much experience in romance.
Which is nice, it let’s Astarion figure himself out a bit more.
He realizes that sometimes you get in over your head in social situations, and he’s always there to back you up or take over.
The first time you had a meltdown, you were both scared, Astarion that he'd caused it somehow and you that he'd see how abnormal you were.
Afterwards, he starts to open up more about disassociating and his nightmares.
You learn how to take care of each other when these things happen.
Astarion will admit he doesn't always follow the thought process that's going on in that lovely head of yours, but it makes you even more fascinating, not frustrating like you worry.
You call yourself strange and again he reminds you he's a literal blood sucking, undead, creature of the night. Who's the strange one?
When you talk about something you're passionate about, you're amazing to watch.
Astarion doesn't come with ingrained expectations you can never meet. He just wants you to be you.
You've never felt more comfortable and safe around anyone.
Astarion often threatens to head back to your hometown to teach a few people a lesson. You tell him it doesn't matter anymore, you're so happy right now, today
The two of you argue constantly about who's luckier to have ended up in this relationship. But it feels like you were made to be together.

The Nico is extroverted and Will is introverted argument is both right and wrong depending on what your definition of both terms is and I have to talk about it. I agree mostly with the original post that claimed this, so just listen and bear with me.
Most people categorize extroverts as ‘social’ and introverts as less so, but in reality (depending on what theory) that is not really true. Because I do agree Nico was a social kid who still has the social skills, but has dampened it down because of his own insecurities and the insecurities he’s been fed due to his parentage. Then for Will, he’s got some solitude and gloominess in him for sure (another introvert stereotype), but shows himself as the (I don’t know what word I want to use for it, but I’ll go with) happy head counselor, because he ‘had to be.’
As for the definition I prefer to use, it’s in fact a bit different. Note that it isn’t a black or white thing, and that you can’t be 100% introverted or 100% extroverted. That’s the same as saying you’re 100% autistic, because all of these terms are all created and used to categorize, and you can’t perfectly fit a category. There’s no such thing as ‘perfection.’
Now, it’s been a while since I’ve properly read about cognitive functions, but as a Feeler type myself, I know most about the different types of ‘Feelers’ to say that Nico has dominant introverted feeling (Fi) and Will uses dominant extroverted feeling (Fe).
While Nico has shown to have social skills, he definitely looks to be a Fi user. He knows who he is (again, not 100% - it isn’t black or white) and what he wants and he doesn’t really base his values on others. I think why a lot of characters with Fi are ‘emo’ or ‘weird’ is because they’re authentic to themselves and don’t bend themselves to anyone else’s will that easily. Now, we all know Nico can be a stubborn prick, but we also can see that in PJO he corrects Minos on who he is. His whole thing there is him being ‘the Ghost King.’ He knows he is, he doesn’t need to be told he is that, he just does what feels real to him.
Also that one scene in ToA (I believe) where Nico is very blunt towards Lester/Apollo and where Will tells him he needs to work on his social skills or whatever? Yeah, that shows their differences in Fi vs Fe. Nico focuses on his inner needs and values (which actually aren’t selfish at all, but important to the entire universe in this case), while Will knows the bluntness isn’t socially acceptable (as far as he knows) and, albeit jokingly, tries to control his outer world to bring it to ‘harmony.’
Note that Nico also has had selfish inner values, wants, and needs. For example, trying to revive his sister. But Will was also selfish when he tried to keep Nico away from the Trogs for example. Fi and Fe aren’t inherently selfish, but their different types might make them make selfish decisions.
Will and Nico both are self-sacrificial, but in different ways. Nico does it for his own internal values and because he feels he’s not wanted anyway, and Will seems to do it because he seems to feel the need to be strong and have an image of himself up for everyone else, even if that means putting his own needs second to his own.
Will also showed some eagerness to absorb and ‘fix’ Nico’s negative emotions in a way. He’s a healer, it’s what he does, right? But meanwhile he struggles to accept or even acknowledge his own ‘darkness.’ (Yes, I’ll talk about this as long as I’ll live. I won’t stop. Ever.)
Also very important. Nico was way more accepting of the Troglodytes than Will. And you might say, “well, isn’t that an extroverted trait?” And I’d tell you: “that depends on your definition!” But in terms of Fi/Fe, it’s Nico who’s showing introverted feeling here. He doesn’t judge, as long as they (the Trogs) don’t go against his core values.
Will, my dumb, dumb, dumb son (note: I don’t actually think he’s dumb), whom I love very much, shows Fe here. He’s quicker to judge because of his sense and knowledge of social norms, but also because of his care for his loved ones. I don’t know, I think both are true arguments as to why he was against the idea of the Trogs.
Also this is why I think it wasn’t too out of character for Will to get all bitchy and negative about the Underworld. And also not why Nico got upset about it, because Will being against his ‘home’, went against his inner self. Boo! Fe vs Fe argument! Take that liberals! (joke)
In short:
Nico is the Fi user. He’s authentic, stubborn (in defense of his own values), actually attracts misfits - because he’s not as quick to judge people who go against social norms - as he doesn’t conform to social norms himself. He’s passionate and emotional (very emotion-driven). If I remember correctly, he also shows to solve problems by talking about it, rather than just cheering anyone up.
When he was ‘unhealthy’, he also retreated from society and went into solitude + lashed out. He also strictly followed his internal beliefs that he was unwanted and all that, while Will claimed that he was the only one thinking that.
Will is the Fe user. He is a healer and nurturer, but neglects his own inner self. He is externally friendly, but can be a bitch. (Sorry not sorry fellow Will lovers.) He can definitely be a bit controlling and less expressive for the sake of his outside world and is also more aware of what he thinks are social norms and cares about them more. (As is seen in ToA and TSATS).
I checked PDB (not the best source, but a source nonetheless) right after this, and people seem to agree. Nico is categorized as INFP (Fi > Ne > Ti > Se), while Will is voted to be ENFJ (Fe > Ni > Te > Si). Thank you for listening to my TED-talk.

Let's make the revolution, but let's make it right s’il vous plaît…
Yes I need to take a break but I'm not only tired but I'm fucking autistic so let me say two quick words
I think Haruka is a character worth exploring, and that he's deeper than the comic relief he seems to be, because I think he's a very good representation of adolescence.
Yoshida doesn't live his adolescence as a public hunter, Asa almost rejects the experiences because of her social isolation and emotional problems, which implies that they are teenagers but want to carry the weight of suffering like adults.
And what is Haruka? The perfect example of the mix between childhood and coming-of-age.
Denji is unable to experience adolescence because he has been deprived of his childhood, or even his humanity, and his interactions lead inexorably to rejection and suffering.
Haruka, on the other hand, is a useful standard by which to compare the other characters' failings in exploring their own adolescence.
Haruka is portrayed as arrogant, but not as negatively pretentious, but as an over-confident teenager, following a role model to the point of pretending to be him, of having a false cable across his chest.
He's also hard on the others, representing those teenagers who never minced their words when pressing Asa's failures, just as he remains deeply human, panicking, relying on his role model to save him.
Above all, his typical teenage behavior and funny yet profoundly candid personality are at odds with what adolescence is all about: realizing the world we live in.
If Chainsaw Man is so popular with teenagers, it's first and foremost because he remains anonymous, so everyone can see what they want in his face, but he's also an element of confrontation with the established order.
When I say that Chainsaw Man is a fairly mathematical manga, it's because everything fits together perfectly: if teenagers can make Chainsaw Man an object of protest, or even make it their own design, it's precisely because they don't see Denji behind Chainsaw Man.
If everything finds its balance, it's because the teenagers see in Chainsaw Man something superior, to the point of making him a model, an ideology, while Denji, the boy behind the mask, puts himself in the position of standing outside normality.
Denji can't belong to normality, since Chainsaw Man's interest is in disrupting the established order, whether it's the dominance of demons or what parents think.
So he's in a position of literal support, since his only point of interaction is to be acclaimed without being recognized.
It's interesting that Haruka's here, because he's a Chainsaw Man fan.
Denji has been a figure in the shadows, supporting a teenager in need of guidance in spite of himself.
He was the savior of a humanity prey to demons in spite of himself
But from a more symbolic point of view, Denji is literally dismembered, because carrying this on his shoulders as a teenager, even though his rank is denied, leads not only to exhaustion and withdrawal, but also to a literal breakdown.
It's as if the chair has just cracked... then the adolescence that stood over it also collapses...
People love Denji with difficulty, while he loves them with ease
People adore Chainsaw Man and completely ignore Denji's plight
Teenagers need to see Denji, to see his state of dismemberment, to see every last part of his being instrumentalized.
Because that's what he is, an image from which everyone can pick and choose to see what's missing.
That's why Asa has a missing arm, because she's in the position of a savior who doesn't wallow in her lack and compensate for it with Chainsaw Man, but focuses on the mission of putting him back together.
We repeat: the teenagers have projected themselves into Chainsaw Man as a means of fighting against the established order.
But isn't projecting oneself and being saved by Chainsaw Man precisely what the established order is all about?
Wouldn't it be revolutionary to save a savior who has always asked to be saved? Just as the suffering of the people has been ignored has needed saving
Revolution... represented by what?
Guillotine.
And that's precisely where I find it all interesting, because Haruka effectively compensates with Chainsaw Man in everything he lacks, when he was portrayed completely panicked during the aquarium arc, Denji was serene. Haruka may have a cable on his chest, but he'll never dare pull it.
This absence of fear is what keeps Chainsaw Man a machine. Denji has no self-worth, not a little arrogance like Haruka, so he's not afraid of danger. Whereas what constitutes adolescence is precisely the fact of becoming attached, of having things you value and are not afraid of being deprived of.
Above all, being an adolescent gives you a protective status, protected by society. So Haruka experiences what Denji experienced: being deprived. Deprived of what he holds dear. Deprived of his status as a child protected to be a terrorist. Haruka is a teenager who needs to be protected, but is now seen as a terrorist, a threat to order.
To be a threat to the established order, while at the same time being guaranteed by it, is the exact ambivalence of what Chainsaw Man is, and what Haruka is experiencing, being in the shoes of his savior in an attempt to save him.
The guillotine demon has an interesting design, a huge bird as a kind of almost inanimate ornament, to emphasize its interior, a piece of skeleton hanging headless. How does it feel to be close to decapitation? We suffer in anticipation of what we're going to miss: our head, death, the skeleton, and what we're going to leave the world, a body that's missing something.
Just as others must learn to compensate for their own insecurities, Denji must allow himself to feel his own, and instead of accepting suffering, to compensate for it like a human being with his nearest and dearest, his entourage, his family.
Because the right behavior is not to artificially complete oneself by rejecting one's fear and accepting one's suffering, but to accept one's incompleteness in order to be better influenced and completed by others. That's why Denji's loved ones are there to help him, even though he's been cut into pieces. Just as the teenagers saw in Fami, whom they reject, this guillotine, both reversing the order and focusing on what they lack, poor children in identity crisis.
We're in a bit of a pre-French Revolution mood, which I like, so let's embrace it completely by concluding with a quote from one of France's bloodiest revolutionaries, Robespierre:
"First of all, you should know that I am not the defender of the people; I have never claimed that lavish title; I am one of the people, that's all I've ever been, and that's all I want to be; I despise anyone who pretends to be anything more."
To make a revolution not to overthrow the order, but to be a simple, incomplete, imperfect teenager.
#csm spoilers#chainsaw man#csm#csm part 2#csm 158#denji hayakawa#denji#haruka#haruka iseumi#haruka isumi#asa mitaka#fami#nayuta hayakawa#yoru#yoshida#my thoughts#pure analysis#and no theory this time#it feels good!!!!

Hiiii! First, I just want to say I love your art so much, honestly, it's the best fanart of these characters I've seen!
But I have a question, because I was just looking at your art of Nightmare and Killer. And whenever you draw them together, they’re often really touchy with each other??.
I’m not sure how to phrase it right, but for example, Nightmare seems to touch Killer’s face a lot or wrap a tentacle around him. And Killer also sometimes just holds him or in that one piece of art, rests his head on Nightmare’s head. It just shocked me a little because I would think Nightmare doesn't like people touching him or vice versa.
Am I overthinking this or something? But yeah love you art bye!!
Hello!! Awww thank you smmm!!! <333333
And I’m glad you noticed >:))))
Cause you’re absolutely right, I draw them super touchy with each other
And I do that for different reasons depending on each of the two of them
Killer (especially in stage 2) tends to be a bit touchy and has zero regard for personal space, and that’s cause Stage 2 is usually completely disassociated from the world around him and from his own body, and with his inability to feel emotions there’s nothing to truly ground him and tell him that what’s happening around him is actually happening
So how does Killer deal with his inability to tell what’s real and happening in the present and what’s not? By either pain, or touching anything/anyone, he would touch whoever’s in his vicinity, regardless of who they are
Nightmare is literally his boss and master? Fuck it he needs to tell whether Nightmare’s really there or not, feeling Nightmare’s negative aura isn’t enough
That of course doesn’t mean Killer doesn’t have his own boundaries with touch, it differs from stage to stage, but regardless of which stage he’s in, and despite stage 2’s tendency to touch people, he still keeps his hands to himself most of the time actually
Nightmare on the other hand, is definitely the type of person who doesn’t want to be touched, in fact I mentioned before that Nightmare is autistic af and has an aversion to touch if he isn’t the one to initiate it, it makes his nonexistent skin crawl when he’s touched without permission, he’s fine with touching people if he was the one to do it, but if it’s vise versa and someone else touches him he’d probably be resisting the urge to kill them (he can be semi-fine if he knows it’s coming)
But the thing is with Nightmare is that he’s masking his autism like crazy, so whenever he’s touched by anyone he pretends it doesn’t bother him, there are times in which he tells whoever’s touching him to back off, but only if it reaches extremely uncomfortable levels for him, otherwise he’d just keep it to himself
The only one who Nightmare is ok with their touch most of the time, but he still prefers to at the very least know it’s coming is Dream
So whenever you see Killer touching Nightmare first, believe me when i say Nightmare is resisting the urge to kill him vhhchchvvh
But the thing is, Nightmare is definitely super touchy with Killer, as in, Nightmare initiates the touch most the time actually, why? Cause Nightmare’s a bitch and he uses touch as some sort of fucked up form of control cause he’s a possessive freak
You’d see him holding Killer’s face, having a tentacle around him, etc, as some sort of fucked up message not only to the people around him, but to Killer himself that he’s his little toy, his little perfect killing machine
Nightmare can be a bit dehumanizing towards Killer at times, not thinking of him as a person but rather a machine that’s supposed to do its job whenever he wanted, and he uses touch to condition Killer and sometimes even as a “reminder” of who’s in control in their fucked up relationship
Basically ignoring any boundaries Killer has and invading his space like Killer does, but instead of doing so out of necessity, he does it to send a very direct message that he can do whatever he wishes any time he pleases and Killer wouldn’t be able to stop it
That of course doesn’t mean he only does this fucked up shit with Killer, he also does it with Horror and Murder, just not to the same extent he does with Killer cause they aren’t as “interesting” to him as Killer is, Killer was always his favorite killing machine after all
(You have zero idea how thankful Horror and Murder are for not being as “interesting” chcchchhc)

Well, I was sufficiently enabled for the idea, so here it is: ✨Alex P. Keaton's Top Neurodivergent Moments✨
The funny thing is that the amount of time I put into scrolling through my encyclopedic mental inventory of Family Ties scenes, compiling these moments in a list, making gifs, and finding past gifsets/analysis to link back to makes creating this post one of my most neurodivergent moments. Good for me.
These will be organized by season (easier for me than trying to rank on a scale) and are in no way ALL of the moments. I'd need like...15 posts for that. Also, tumblr only allows 30 images/gifs per post, so I'm going to include links to past posts when possible.
ENJOY!
• Alex gets his first-ever failing grade and immediately decides to quit school
Exactly what it says. Alex strolls into college all bright-eyed and confident and ends up a broken shell of a guy just a week or so later. The prototypical Gifted Kid from the moment he learned to speak, Alex cannot handle anything less than perfection. Getting the first F of his life shatters his entire self-image, and he wants to drop out of college entirely.
• Alex's friend Doug announces he's getting married, and Alex spirals into despair. As one does.
The entirety of the "Best Man" episode is one big Alex displaying neurodivergent behaviors moment, honestly. There are a whole lot of Alex-centered plots that are set into motion because A Change happens, and he just cannot deal with it, and this is one of the best examples. Alex is so distraught at the suddenly altered dynamic that he wanders the house like a lost soul—sad and confused and needy. He walks in on Steven's shower just to give him a hug, offers to go shopping with Mal and play dolls with Jen, and also draws up a seven-year contract for his other friends to sign to ensure they stick to their regularly scheduled card games, lest they also run off to get married and destroy his life.
• Alex P. Keaton: child development expert
When faced with the news of another sibling on the way, Alex has some very nurturing advice at the ready for when the baby is crying.
• The Keatons all laugh at a funny story. Alex is not amused.
This is one of my favorite Alex scenes of the series. Uncle Rob shares a memory of the time Steven was young and got in trouble because he started rebelling against the system and refused to write his name in the designated spot on his school test papers. The family shares a hearty laugh. Alex, king of black-and-white thinking and lover of rules, is deeply upset.
I love him so much. He genuinely cannot see how they're enjoying such a story. The Name Spot is for names. And his father dared to write in the Not For Names Spot?? Jail for Steven.
He's so ridiculously autistic.
• Alex's favorite childhood toy
It was a cardboard box. I can't quite put into words why this sets off my ND radar, but it does. Maybe it's the being attached to unusual items thing that's common with autism? The intense fixations that make other people go ????
The Alex and Ba-ba plotline provides some wonderful Alex Lore.
• Mr. Mustache
Yeah, those intense fixations? In the "Fool for Love" episode, Alex grows a mustache and legitimately cannot speak about anything else for the several days that follow. He's asked to present a speech at Mallory's homecoming dance and centers his entire speech around his mustache. He's unable to have a conversation that doesn't involve mustaches. It's incredible.
• Everything in "Matchmaker"
Alex is so sweet in this one. After Mallory comes home crying after a bad date, Alex promises to help her find a great guy. Unfortunately, putting someone who struggles socially and with processing emotions in charge of your love life isn't exactly a great fit. Alex uses the power of science to craft a formula to find Mallory's perfect match (he isn't), then tags along on their date and helps foster a very natural environment (it isn't) for the relationship to flourish (it doesn't).
The episode ends with a great scene between Alex and Mallory that shows just how well Mal understands the inner-workings of her big brother's head.
• Divorce is tough. Alex has some advice.
The Keaton kids are shocked to learn that their Uncle Rob is divorcing their Aunt Maureen. As Jen and Mallory reel from the information, Alex helps to reframe things.
He then pulls out the Special Interest Card and compares the divorce of their aunt and uncle to a "failed merger, not unlike the breakup of the phone company—although obviously less emotional. Nothing more than a natural fluctuation in the marketplace of love and marriage."
And the thing is, he IS impacted by the news. He just hasn't the slightest clue how to actually process it. So, a simple failed merger it is!
• You had one job
Mallory needs some croissants for a fancy get-together she's having with her poetry class. Alex helpfully offers to go pick them up.
Now, I debated about this one because there's part of me that's like, "Hmm, did Alex purposely do this to annoy Mallory?" Is this just a jerk move? But you know what? It stays on the list because the whole "I personally don't like this thing and struggle to see how anyone else could. Therefore, I will get the thing I like" is (for me) a relatable aspect of being ND.
• Every single second of "A, My Name is Alex"
For real, though. This episode is a deep dive into how Alex became the person he is, and it is FILLED with "flashbacks" of an intensely neurodivergent child whose issues were made worse by the people around him. (Mostly teachers and peers. Steven and Elyse did their best with him, but I do also have some critiques of the way they parented him). Anyway, he represses his emotions to the point of a meltdown
And then there's this
Full coin gifset here. Also, I made posts on the full episode, which can be found here and here.
• "Alex has a weird body"
That's Mallory's explanation to Andy as to why Alex can't help her when she needs someone to model one of her latest clothing creations. She says Alex's head is too big for his body, and those words, unfortunately, find their way back to him. In a mini plot reminiscent of the mustache one, Alex proceeds to obsess over the comment.
And I mean, I think being told your head is too big for your body would make anyone insecure, but it's the way Alex handles it. He's unable to have regular conversations for a while because he can't stop fixating on the size of his noggin'.
Both of the "Read it and Weep" episodes fit in this list, to be honest
• An accurate statement by Lauren
I've got to include this because it really does neatly condense a lot of who Alex is
So true, bestie.
And then, to wrap this whole thing up, there's all of this
And this is just what I can fit in this here post without going over the limit lol. Obsessed with the way MJF played Alex.
Thanks for reading ✌️
This is me with Alex, btw

I am. moderately afraid that I'm going to get hate on this but. here we go.
Barry is fucking perfect autism representation. I don't know if there's anything confirming that he is autistic but like. Oh my gosh.
He doesn't feel like certain characters where it's just stereotypes and that's the whole character. There's not a single stereotype about him. He doesn't scream "autism" just because he's not that type of character. He's not like extremely smart, or stupid-- he's intelligent, but he's not like. that kind of trope certain shows do where people with autism are just really smart. The way he emotes is perfect. I wish I had my specific examples but like... man.
It's so good. It makes me so happy. It also hurts me because Kris treats him poorly and tries to get him to be different because of his autistic traits. It's just. man...
like that one scene where they're talking about the cargo-- lemme just put in the dialogue and insert images
Kris: This is it. Do you know what this means?
Barry: Yeah. You've told me.
Kris: then why do you still seem not to get it? We did this together, for once you should be proud-- I'm letting you be proud!
Barry: I'm... proud.
[Kris ruffles Barry's hair]
Kris is imposing what she wants Barry to feel on him. She's letting him be proud. She doesn't get why he "doesn't understand". Barry seems to just want to get the conversation over with/he doesn't know why he doesn't understand either (why he doesn't feel the things Kris wants him to feel-- what he "should" feel. Why he doesn't feel the "normal" things). The way he forces himself to say that he's proud is just... perfect voice acting. They got such a perfect voice actor for Barry. But back to this scene-- she ruffles his hair, something that to her means something good, but Barry CLEARLY doesn't like it. He tenses and rubs his head afterwards. She's trying to make him what she wants. Make him feel what she wants him to feel and praise him the way she thinks praise should be received. The only way she considers Barry being different both feelings wise and how he wants praise is her wanting to change those things to what she wants.
there was also this one scene, the scene where Kris and Barry are interacting for the last time, and the shot it relatively simple. just a shot of his face. Zoomed in. In a show like scavengers reign that has so many interesting shots that are so clearly intentional you know that has to be intentional. And what I loved about it is that sometimes autistic people have difficulty emoting or when they do emote it's subtle. And that scene picks on the subtle changes in his expression while he's talking to really show how he's feeling in the moment. That's so cool. Idk how to make a gif and i don't have a link to a video of it but it's in the beginning of episode 12 if anyone wants to see what I'm talking about :)
anyways,, yeah. I hope that this is taken well? I have other thoughts on him as well but this was just something that was right at the front of my mind after finishing

Matt Murdock x Autistic!Reader x Frank Castle Headcanons!
I’ve been feeling incredibly AuDHD this week so here are some headcanons for how Matt and Frank would treat their autistic partner :)
If anyone wants to see drabbles/one-shots with an autistic!reader based on my own experiences, let me know!!
I am certain that both Matt and Frank would be so loving and devoted to their autistic partner. It might take a bit of time to work out some things but they’d be so good to you.
Something that I really struggle with is expressing romantic love while also having pretty intense sensory issues? I am not touch averse, and usually crave touch, but if I’ve spent too much energy on other things, touch is usually the first thing to overwhelm me.
If you struggle with touch or being held, or you’re even just having a bad day, Matt and Frank would be so understanding because they, of all people, definitely understand what that’s like.
While Frank probably has more experience with tactical planning, both a legal and a military background require incredible attention to detail which would come in handy with both setting routines and going over the plan for something.
My inability to read social cues has led to intense social anxiety, especially where there’s crowds. One way that I prepare for going to events is by creating a detailed plan on my head of how I will get to and leave the event.
Matt and Frank’s combined attention to detail would be so helpful for talking through what an activity would look like, who would be there, where it was taking place, when you’d need to leave by.
Because Matt is incredibly social, and incredibly sweet, I think that he would be over the moon to help you bypass your social anxiety at functions.
He would go out of his way to make you feel comfortable. Whether that means speaking for you if you can’t, or bringing up a topic that you’re interested in so you feel more at ease with a group.
I think everyone is in agreement (myself included) that Matt would be perfect if you needed help because you were overstimulated. He has heightened senses and experiences that stuff himself, so it wouldn’t be too hard for him to take care of you in that situation.
But I also think Frank would excel at that. He’s a man of few words and he wouldn’t overwhelm you with questions or suggestions. He would listen to what you needed or what Matt proposed and take action. For example, if you were having a bad sensory day and were on the verge of a meltdown so you couldn’t do the dishes you planned on doing, there’s no doubt Frank would have them done by the time you were ready to socialize again.
This man would keep a strict inventory of comfy clothes and blankets and fidgets for you, making sure to keep everything relatively orderly so that you had what you needed if you weren’t in the mood to go looking. (Because let’s be honest, some days we are all a lost sock away from a mental breakdown.)
Another issue that I face is being seen as too honest or blunt? I often overexplain why I am phrasing something the way that I am so it’s not seen as rude or ignorant.
I think Matt and Frank would really appreciate someone being honest with them, especially Matt. Given that he can tell when people are lying, I think it would be a nice change of pace for him to have a partner who doesn’t really do the whole “white lie” thing.
I also think expressing the reasoning behind why you’re asking something or saying something a certain way would bring him peace because he knows exactly how to interpret it. This man has self-esteem issues of his own, he doesn’t need open ended or slightly ominous questions to make him spiral.
Also, I firmly believe that Frank would crack up at some of the stuff that comes out of an unfiltered mouth. I think he would adore how embarrassed you get trying to apologize for being rude because you said something without thinking. He would simply tell you there was no reason to apologize because whatever you said was hilarious.
anyway, this is heavily based on my own experiences but I hope you enjoyed! Please let me know if you’d like to see more headcanons and feel free to request.

ooooooo i love rs!ink he's so cute......could you, perhaps, speak about him a little more?? (I've heard he's very similar to Lilo too, would love to hear about his childhood a lil' bit more👀)
Sure! This gives me a chance to also say publicly that RoseVerse!Ink is CANONICALLY AUTISTIC. I stated this in the QNA livestream I did a while back, but I know not everyone watched that as it was mostly chaos. Most characters in Roseverse are not giving canon mental illnesses or mental disorders because anyone can project themselves onto these characters and find traits they can relate to. For example, Killer has no canon mental disorder and is only based on my experience as a 15 year old. Whatever you see fit to fit his mental health is uo to viewer interpretation. But Ink is one of the few exceptions to this as he is canonically autistic.
Now with that out of the way, what was Ink’s childhood like? This will be long!! Prepare!
Ink was created at three years old and was nonverbal up until he was seven. He hardly used sign language besides signing to show he was hungry, he wanted more of something, or to say yes or no. Error and Nightmare were always worried about this, and they did not have the resources to see a doctor to have help in figuring out why Ink wasn’t talking. They had to do with what they could, and learned to work with Ink’s lack of speech. He is capable of more sign language, and does use it when he wants to have a conversation, but that is not until he gets closer to six, where he gets more interested in joining in on talks.
Ink from the ages of 3-5 was very all over the place. He was blunt, and had many outbursts and meltdowns due to Error and Nightmare simply not knowing how to handle an autistic child. While he could not verbally communicate, he would get very frustrated if he wasn’t understood, and often resorted to tantrums and throwing his toys or food when he would want something and Error and Nightmare had no idea what to supply. He also was touch repulsed between the ages of 4-6, and preferred to do his own thing. He’d ignore when people would try to talk to him if he wasn’t in the mood for it, and Error and Nightmare learned to leave it at that. What he tended to do was draw, finger paint, solo play with toys, and sort things. Error once stole him many markers, and rather than jump to draw, he spent hours reorganizing them over and over into different shades and colors. (Based on a experience of my own childhood lol)
Error and Nightmare worked with Ink’s needs and unintentionally created a household perfect for neurodivergent children. The lights were dim, safe food was always in stock, loud noises were kept to a minimum, and Ink was given headphones and comfortable clothes to help his meltdowns.
When he hit seven, he finally started to speak verbally, and then never shut up LMAO. He also became hungry for touch, and was often jumping at Nightmare at random (since he knew Error couldn’t handle it) and climbing all over him. While with Error, he always made his presence known before latching on and not letting go for hours. However, he tended to like Nightmare’s hugs the most, since he’d place his tentacles over him and make a little cocoon of safety. This is also when he got the burst of curiosity for the outside and would run through the woods and grab random animals from trees and bring them home (much to Error’s horror). Think Ame from Wolf Children. That was very much how he was. A wild child who was always getting cuts and bruises but smiling big. Once, he even snapped his arm falling from a tree while in the care of Reaper, and Nightmare and Error couldn’t heal him enough. He forever sports a scar on his arm but continues to climb trees anyways.
When he got a bit older, ages 9-10, he mellowed out a bit with the understanding of his powers. Nightmare helped him a lot with the control of his abilities and magic, and with that came maturity and peace. He preferred to keep the house tidy and fetch dinner still, but in a much calmer way. He’d go out and catch fish or use his magic to catch squirrels. He’d always come home at a good time and would help Errror around the house. He wasn’t as loud and excitable, especially since he became aware of who he was supposed to be at ten, and had to come to terms with the fact that Error was meant to be his competitor, and they were breaking those rules.
Overall, he grows a lot and becomes a child Error and Nightmare are proud of.
Then, on his eleventh birthday, he disappears.
Tragic, truly. It’s a mystery of what happened to the poor kid.

Firstly, you have a beautiful writing style! Secondly, would you be able to write something for Shoto, Izuku and Katsuki (separately, with any others you wish to add) with an autistic fem reader? Examples: reader wears headphones all the time around her neck and is anxious without them, has a restricted diet due to sensory issues, misses social cues, has specific routines such as where to walk and sit, has trouble understanding their emotions, is very logical etc… - avec amour, anon <3
Thank you for requesting! Honestly, this is something I haven’t done before but I hope you enjoy! 🤍
Shoto:
When he first learned about your disorder, he was shocked at first
Man can’t think of how that was supposed to be a form of insecurity to you because he loves you as you are
Still, he’d go and research about it to ensure he can help you the best you can
He’d definitely be the kind of guy who’d want to know how he can help you as best as he can
If he’s getting food for you, he’ll be sure to take note of every one off your diet restrictions
He’ll role up at your dorm with a Michelin star meal that checks all your boxes.
Will be right there with you in a conversation, firmly by your side.
As for social cues, he’s right there along with you
Shoto might be smart, but in terms of reading people, he’s definitely not the best at it
He might not be the best at it, but Shoto will do anything to make you feel comfortable and confident in yourself.
“You have autism? No, why would that bother me? You’re perfect. Just the way you are. I wouldn’t want to have it any other way.”
Katsuki:
Oh boy, this man will be the most tsundere person ever when it comes to taking care of you
Don’t ever expect to be telling people at stalls your diet restrictions because Blasty will be cooking every one of your meals from now on
I can imagine you losing your headphones and hyperventilating, and while he’s cradling you he’s turning the whole dorm upside down to search for your most prized possession.
“OI SHITHEADS, IF I DON’T GET THE NAME OF THE IDIOT WHO TOOK Y/N’S HEADPHONES IN T-MINUS 5 SECONDS, I’M GONNA RIP YOUR HEADS OFF.”
It’s such a contrast to his normal personality that it throws everyone off
He treats you like a treasure, something precious
And even if he doesn’t show it, he’s memorised all your routines and works you through it.
He’ll never let you say anything bad about yourself.
Sometimes you wonder why he still hasn’t left you yet, but he’s sure to abolish that thought from your mind the second you so much as breathes a word about your insecurties
“Hey, hey, listen to me. No, don’t shake that pretty head of yours. I’m here because I wanna be here. I’m number 1 at everything, so there’s no way I’ll half-ass this relationship shit, alright? You’re beautiful, inside and out, and I don’t give a shit about what others say, you hear me you little shit? I love you. Now shut up and come here. If you’re feeling like you’re not the most important person in the world, then clearly I’m doing something wrong.”
He’s the biggest softie for you, because whenever you’re ranting his ear off, he listens to every word even if he doesn’t look like it.
If he’s your boyfriend, your every word will definitely be heard.
Izuku:
This boy will have an entire notebook dedicated to you
When you tell him, he’ll be so relieved that you felt comfortable telling him, and he’ll immediately be your listening ear for anything you need.
Your diet? Done, he has a list of things that you can’t eat and will make sure that each one of those dishes you love is safe for you
Your routines? Memorised and drawn.
He’ll always help you out, even if it’s out of his way because you’re one of his biggest priorities in life.
He loves it when you ramble because he can feel your excitement exuding from you
Will patiently explain social cues to you even if it means that you’re excluded from the conversation
Doesn’t care what others think because, hey, you’re his and he’s yours
Each one of the hoops he has to jump through is done with ease because he loves you with his entire soul.
“You have autism? No. I never even noticed.”
He squeezes out time in his day to spend time with you
Loves you more than you could ever know, and wants to shower you with cuddles and kisses every time he gets the chance.
You’re lucky because now that Izuku’s got you, he’s never ever letting go.

i was reading the end part of abomination and was wondering three things ,1-what is the meaning of Joey changing from his real world self to his story world self ? Since it appears that joey died, does this mean that his real world self and story world self fused ?, 2-how does joey control over the story world works ? is he aware of what the story version of hackenbush has become or he is independent from joey's actions ?3 What would happen if the little devil darling cartoon has played ?
answers to all of these could potentially be "well you're supposed to come up with some interpretation yourself" but i do have things in mind as answers to these questions :)
real joey didn't die (yet), so it's not them fusing - i realize that it might be a bit confusing story joey has been created soulless however as you can see in the ending this happens
i don't mind people coming to the conclusion that story joey has real joey's soul but if you would like to hear me out on what i precisely have in mind for this
[becomes an unskippable cutscene]
so when you look through the seeing tool in batim you can see these floating gold particles
to me it's joey's soul scattered through this entire ink dimension because he is the storyteller of it and influences the way it's been made and how it functions
and that can also include some creatures
creatures that "fully" have their own soul like susie!alice don't have anything to do with him but ones that don't have a full soul of another person? or no soul at all?
the ink demon (squish) and story joey have been created but not with an use of a sacrifice
they are soulless but they are a physical manifestation of joey's soul that really has been used for creating this entire world
however he is "anchored" to his ink counterpart and that's what it stands for
that's why story joey's and bendy's "souls" join together
because in the story that joey is telling ink creatures are made/perfected via sacrifice and via using people's souls in this process - so technically story joey is "supposed" to have a soul
...yeah i know it's a bit complicated but you must understand. i'm very autistic. njknjknkjnkj
2. joey's control over the story mostly boils down to creating situations, events, enforcing themes, introducing new characters and in rare occasions tweaking character's personalities
however all of these abilities have their limits and they don't just rely on his skills as a storyteller because those aren't really that bad, there is also some ink magic fuckery involved :)
for example story joey is NOT written how he would have liked him to be - all characters become a more exaggerated/cartoonish version of themselves - and through the lense of his regret and self hatred he has made out quite an asshole out of himself
like he already was one but he's managed to make him even worse
task failed successfully
3. little devil darling. is. something, alright
it's the first bendy cartoon to exist
and yet... we've never seen any of it. it's not up there with all the other cartoons in bendy's throne room in chapter 5, nor all the other rooms inside of the giant ink machine
however. there are two things
this image is a screenshot of @lucky-dreamfisher 's theory because their eye for details really helped me with some of my own theory/headcanon crafting :)
and i agree with the conclusion they reach here - since this cartoon is missing, the very first bendy cartoon, it means that bendy is prevented from reaching perfection
and preventing joey/bendy from reaching perfection just seemed like a great revenge to come from susie!alice :) additional points for the fact that i associate "who's laughing now?" with alice since this message also appears next to boris' corpse in chapter 1
i'm not saying that story joey would have made a perfect bendy otherwise, but this way the process will never be perfect from the technical side either
but also speaking of little devil darling
there is a poster of it inside of the giant ink machine while there are no other posters
i just thought that's interesting

Hi, you can keep this unanswered and not post it, but I want to help you understand the thought behind some of the points in your criticism post. Before I start I want to apologise if I come off as blunt and rude, that's not my intention and I'll try my best to show my tone as unthreatening but I'm autistic and not a native English speaker, which complicates things lol
*general you used throughout the ask
First, I want to start with this: they all are part of the army. You don't need to dig much to see you'll rarely see a "morally upstanding" person in the army, be it because they're cheaters, abusers, compliant with all that or they're (insert -ist/-phobe category here). UK military spouses are 3 times more likely to experience intimate partner violence (IPV). I'm not saying the COD characters need to be written like that, but it wouldn't be "unrealistic" if we take real life statistics into account.
Second, and maybe the most important thing, everyone writes COD characters OOC. The majority of the active fandom on Tumblr and tiktok have seen gifs and 10min out of context clips from the game at best. It's to be expected to not frequently find something actually in character for a lot of the guys. Especially with characters that are just operators like König, Nikto and Krueger. In their case everything is and isn't OOC at the same time because we just... Don't know these characters. We lack characterisation past maybe 1-3 traits about them. I'd argue that's why the fandom liked König so much, other than being masked, he's the perfect paper doll! You can dress him up in whatever characterisation you want and it probably won't contradict his canon (because he barely has one and what he has is quickly misinterpreted (anxiety disorder turning into shyness for example)).
Now specifically on your "How are you going to hc a victim as the abuser?" - simple, whether you like to accept it or not is up to you, but it's not far fetched for victims to become abusers later in life. Just look at serial killers statistics - 74% of US serial killers were psychologically abused and 42% were physically abused as children and later in life followed a similar pattern brought to an extreme. Or on the other hand, a tamer example would be generational trauma because that's how we get that (grandparent was abused and because that's all they know, they implement it in bringing up their child who, for the same reason, implements it in bringing up the grandchild and so on).
The final thing I want to say is, it's good to block people who you don't vibe with. Doesn't matter if it's because they wrote something that personally disturbed you or you simply don't like their blog theme or you see them too often in the tag. Personally curating your experience is key in fandom, utilise the tools Tumblr has given us. Of course as you and others have mentioned that's impossible without some assistance from the other side. Tagging is extremely important (tagging with the correct words without censoring!!! Or the filter won't catch! Rape, noncon, incest ✅; r@pe, n*nc*n, 1nc*st ✖️✖️).
I hope this isn't too messy or long aaaa
I really appreciate you taking the time to type this up and actually speak to me about this, your input is very appreciated. /gen
I do think I could've done better on that post since I wrote it in the heat of the moment, all characters are written OOC and it was ignorant of me to say
"Maybe read the characters backstories and actually take their past into consideration because you guys kinda look dumb for making these characters so OOC."
I hope ya'll can really take the time to see my POV, I did not mean. any harm, I've come across some gross things, but blocking and filtering tags so much as begun to be tiring.
My main issue is tagging, without tagging I am left with getting triggered by random posts because the first few sentences may include something on my trigger list.
That's all I want and also what a lot of other people want.
Writing is meant for anyone and everyone, a form of art and perhaps a for of therapy.
Please tag your work, you are not the only person on the internet.
Thank you for reading!

nct 127 with autistic partners
pairing: nct 127 members x reader
type: scenario
summary: how the nct 127 members help their autistic partners
request: yes
warning: mentions overstimulation, touch, food, meltdown in johnny’s, stimming
a/n: please lmk if johnny’s makes any of you uncomfortable. i’m hesitant to talk about the topic even though it’s necessary to talk about and normalize. it’s just difficult and i know that VERY well. 🤍 also please know that these (and the skz one) are just small examples of what some autistic people can experience and these may not be the only ways they would help their partners.
UPDATE: T*eil has been removed
masterlist | info
—————————
taeyong- you were surprised to find out that despite being so busy and having to worry about 20+ “kids” of his own, taeyong is really good about texting and checking in on you. not only with basics like, “did you eat today? drink your water? take your vitamins?” but he spends a lot of time away from you and he doesn’t want you to get anxious or worry about his feelings towards you. he never assumes that his actions are speaking louder than his words when a lot of the time you struggle to interpret the feeling behind actions anyways. he’s very forthcoming with how he feels about you and will often just tell you he’s been thinking about you and misses you even when he’s been gone for just hours. (which like why… you just left how do you miss me?? 😂😂)
johnny- johnny is really good under stress. he’s steady as a rock and it comes in handy in stressful situations which you can’t really handle all that much. you feel all the intense energy and it usually gets loud so it immediately triggers a meltdown. he’s just really good in any type of meltdown situation, whether it builds from the day and something small makes you snap or you’re relatively fine but something intense sets it off. he makes sure you have your headphones on and holds you tight to him. also talking you through the post meltdown guilt after bc it’s so real 😩
yuta- he LOVES hearing about all your special interests. he loves when you like sit and fidget with something and just ramble away about whatever it is you know literally everything about. he also loves to take you places where you can experience your special interest in a deeper way. i.e. special museums or experiences. even if he has no interest in the topic whatsoever, he just loves that you love it.
doyoung- he’s a very affectionate person but he’s very respectful and understanding which makes him perfect for you since you don’t like to be touched. he always asks for permission before touching you in any way first, even if it’s a small gesture like wiping your face when you’re eating (bc he just does that for people anyways). although at first when you rejected a hug from him, he was a little hurt and confused but did his best not to show it. once you explained it though, he was much more aware of his actions and if he needs a hug he’ll find one of the boys.
jaehyun- this man knows the importance of a safe space not just emotionally in your relationship together but also physically like in your shared home. he worked really hard to make sure the lights weren’t too much, none of the blankets and furniture felt weird, all the smells in the house were mild and pleasant, safe foods always stocked, he even went as far to soundproof the bedroom so outside noise isn’t an issue. he also has lots of fidgets around the house and on his person for when you need to stim.
jungwoo- similar to taeyong but in a different sense, hear me out. he knows how overwhelmed you get when you have to be around more people and especially people you’re not used to. it can kinda feel like you’re a sim without someone at the controller. you walk in the room of people and immediately feel like it’s too much and not do basic things that most people do easily. your default is just to stand at the edge of the room awkwardly, totally unsure of how to function. people may ask, “are you hungry? can i get you a drink? you can sit here if you want!” and you’ll deny everything despite being hungry, thirsty, or needing to sit. playing the “human part” can get so confusing when you’re overwhelmed and you may feel like your basic needs are burdensome to others even when it’s literally a party and every one is eating, drinking, and relaxing. so jungwoo is always at your side with his hand in yours to reassure you. he feels like a safer person you can say your needs too without feeling like a burden. he’s always so sweet and patient with you to make sure you get everything you want.
mark- mark pays close attention to the sounds in the room. it’s something he never thought much about before he met you but when you explained it to him, it actually made a lot of sense to him. he always keeps you close by in case of a particularly loud noise he can cover your ears in time or be there to reassure you. he also keeps an extra pair of noise canceling headphones with him or at least some little ear buds in his pocket. he becomes attuned to helping you with some of your other sensory issues but sound is one that triggers you more often so he knows what to look out for.
haechan- he found you intriguing when he first met you mostly bc you were kinda concerned with how he was being treated, especially by yuta. he thought it was really endearing when you’d get upset that he was being “slighted” but he explained that it was all a joke… you didn’t find it that funny. donghyuk loved that you cared so much for him so quickly and that you always wanted to show that you cared even if it meant you doing things you weren’t entirely comfortable with like hugging or other skinship. haechan was equally careful not to push skinship so much or just throw it on you without any warning. he was also careful with his jokes and not to tease you too much and upset you. overall he’s just very considerate.

Egghead Manga Spoilers Ahead
// I enjoy the art and fics, but I didn’t realize some people genuinely believe Sanji is going to actually turn “emotionless” and therefore become evil and have Zoro kill him.
tl;dr: The Emotionless Germa Killing Machine is a myth and that is why nothing about him changed after Sanji put on the suit.
Something I think about a lot when I think about Sanji and his backstory is this book by Lundy Bancroft called Why Does He Do That? where a therapist details his research into of treating with convicted domestic abusers and trying to understand how they operate. One of the essential findings (Chapter: The Mythology of Abuse) is not about emotional regulation skills, tortured pasts, or genetic predispositions to violence. The answer to “Why Does He Do That?” Is simply because the abuser’s moral code allows for abuse.
“The Abuser would like us to accept this simple but erroneous formula: FEELINGS CAUSE BEHAVIOR. […] Wrong. Although our feelings can influence how we wish to act, our choices of how to behave are typically governed by our attitudes and habits.
“An abuser almost never does something he morally disagrees with. […] An abuser’s core problem is that he has a distorted sense of right and wrong. […] Their value system is what’s unhealthy, not their psychology.”
So first, we have to separate out a person’s emotions from their value system. If he became an “emotionless” Germa soldier, he would still have his moral compass, his will, just fine. SO MUCH of One Piece is about moral codes and value systems, individuals deciding for themselves what is and isn’t right, and how that decided value system persists even when you are out of your mind, genetically engineered, and at your worst. In Thriller Bark, the shadows still behave with the same values and ideals as their original owners. When separated from his memories, Sanji’s shadow still won’t even bring himself to kick a woman. (Egghead Spoilers start here) Kuma is maybe the most recent example of this, with his values to protect and care for his daughter overriding all the mechanical changes to his body and brain and bringing him essentially back to life. This value system is even described as his “will.” And the smartest scientist in all the world couldn’t remove “the will” from someone no matter how he tried, so why are we supposed to think 21 years ago it was perfected?
But more than that, I don’t think Ichiji, Niji, and Yanji are actually without emotions. If they had no emotions, they would never laugh, they wouldn’t express contempt or disgust, and Yanji would not have reacted how he did when he saw Nami for the first time.
Now, that said, sometimes people interpret the fact that Sanji’s brothers have displayed human emotion to mean that only one emotion has been removed: the feeling of empathy. I could get behind that interpretation, but from studies of sociopaths and autistic people, having naturally dulled empathetic feelings doesn’t actually force you to be a bad person. It doesn’t take your sense of morality from you. Feeling empathy is even a skill that be taught and practiced and improved on over time! It’s often part of therapeutic treatment with sociopaths. You can still use the logical part of your brain to think “they would feel sad if I….” even if you don’t feel that same instinctive heartbreak. In fact, the profession that has the highest concentration of sociopaths is not, like, bankers or CEOs or hitmen. It’s surgeons. Many of them still want to do good, to save people, and be useful, and their dulled empathy is actually an advantage to their value system because they don’t instinctively shudder at the idea of cutting someone open.
And thinking about Law, that fact really makes me think Oda knows about these psychological findings and is doing this on purpose. Because, when I think about brothers who approach human empathy wildly differently, the first thing that comes to mind is Corazón and Doflamingo. Both of them were born celestial dragons, both of them grew up with a kind and gentle father, both of them were tortured. They had equal opportunities to choose whether they valued cruelty and power or community and empathy. One picked one value system and became an abuser and the other picked a different value system and became a hero. There was no genetic explanation for it. Doflamingo chose to be a warlord and Cora chose to work with the Marines. No one had to be poisoned or genetically engineered for that to happen.
Reiju is the person who explained to the audience and Sanji about the poison. She is an abused child who stayed behind in the Germa kingdom and grew up under Judge, rationalizing his actions. Abusers like Judge want you to think the only thing that can influence their behavior is their feelings. I am sure she truly believes that the only reason Sanji has any sense of empathy is the poison, and she believes her brothers’ emotions and morality were removed. But given what we know about Kuma and Vegapunk now, I think it is much more likely to be that Reiju and Sanji were the only kids who visited their mom and subsequently chose to value the same things she did, developing a will that includes protecting the innocent. Sanji is not losing that will in any circumstances and he can’t lose his emotions because his brothers still have them.
The suit actually modifying his sense of empathy would look like this: Something bad happens to something he cares about. He thinks, “it’s weird that this isn’t stressing me out as much.” He then does the right thing anyway according to his will and value system. He stresses about it. He keeps doing that. The feeling comes back over time. It’s really, really boring!
And if he ever brought it up to Zoro, Zoro would be the first guy to say something like “So… you did the right thing regardless of how you felt? You want me to kill you for that? Dumbass.”
#sanji#zoro#egghead spoilers#one piece#i’m sure I’m not the first person with this take but.#anyway I spent too long on this i have to release it into the world. if you read: thank you for reading!! 💖
