I am very intrigued by the idea of this album being focused on taylor herself as the artist/writer/creator.... I think signing off the announcement as "the chairman of the tortured poets department" very much puts herself at the forefront (as both a creative and a boss), as opposed to other album descriptions which maybe emphasised the stories or a specific emotion or concept. the line about "my veins of pitch black ink" reminds me of ts eliot referring to poets "turning blood into ink" (often misquoted as "the purpose of literature is to turn blood into ink"). also the play on words in "all's fair in love and poetry" suggesting a connection between poetry and war immediately makes me think of king by florence & the machine saying "you need to go to war to find material to sing". in fact the whole excerpt reminds me of that song — the line "the very thing you're best at is the thing that hurts the most" feels very fitting. I just love the idea of an album about the act of creation and writing itself (and how this shapes and is shaped by experiences like heartbreak).
#i mean i'm probably way off and it's just a standard breakup album or something#but idk i just think there's soo much there in the choice of title and the glimpse she's given us so far#talking#taylor swift

”i’d like to be my old self again but i’m still trying to find it” is such a baller lyric. like people don’t talk about that part of a break up enough. you can be over it all you want but the accepting that things are now different and you are not the same person you were at the beginning is sometimes the hardest part
#me last night#anyway#remembered how much i love singing loudly in cars once again today#things i was robbed of for two years#one day i will in depth compare and contrast the importance of all too well and better man on the same album#but that day is not today#not a tag#from saph#yall breakups are easy#finding yourself after is harder

dear boy is so insane to me bc even if it's not about john (and honestly I rlly dk how much I buy into the theory that it is about john- although I'd fully believe paul used john as Partial inspiration bc he loves double meaning) the fact that JOHN thought it was about john is just. soooo incredibly revealing about the relationship they had. like idk about anyone else but even if I had the world's biggest crush on my friend I would Not assume and insist that song was about me. it's genuinely so wild.
#it's like probably at least top 3 reasons to me I subscribe to the idea that they Had Something Going On#that was a mutual thing that fell apart#bc how are you gonna relate those lyrics to yourself if you were just gay pining away ykwim 😭#and don't even get me STARTED on regular fans that think neither of them had feelings LIKE AJSGSHSJ#IN WHAT WORLD COULD YOU RELATE THAT TO YOURSELF IN A NON ROMANTIC MANNER....#insane song. but so good#one of pauls best ones along w genuinely the rest of ram like he really did release the best breakup album

hi he said this in june 2023 rolling stone interview podcast:
"In the lockdown I wrote about the best part of 40 songs," he told Rolling Stone. "So this album was a cross-section of all the different styles that I'd done to that point, which is what I liked about the album. Pretty Boy was a bit like the electronic thing and then there was the Ballad thing and then there was the '60s thing and hen there was like a bit of a jazz thing with Council Skies. So I pick the best things that brought me to this place so far. But there is an acoustic album, as well, which is very stripped back – which I started recording actually recently before I came away [for his current US tour with the High Flying Birds]. And then those years are very heavily guitar bass stadium rock album.
“There is an acoustic album as well, which is very, very stripped back, and which I started recording recently,” he revealed to Rolling Stone: “And then there’s, a very heavily guitar-based, stadium-rock album.”
Rolling Stone then asked the obvious question – why didn't he release that one first?
"I don't know," replied Noel in a rare public display of uncertainty. "I've been proved right anyway in this decision because the album's [Council Skies] been received amazingly well. And better than any album I've ever had so far, so I've been proved right in that respect. But why didn't I go with that? I don't know. I guess because I didn't really know if stadium rock was going to be allowed anymore because of COVID and all that. I didn't know if there was going to be a tour or any of that s*** – things have changed drastically.
"But the guitar album, I'm looking forward to recording," Noel added. "But it's time I did an acoustic album, because I've got a lot of songs that are quite harrowing – they've obviously written in the time of the breakup [Noel is going through a divorce from his wife Sarah MacDonald after 22 years together]. So I want to get that out and then do a euphoric guitar record."
#this is the first noel gallagher interview i listened to after hearing council skies#everything else twisted me up but it was all right here at the beginning#im screaming#i’ve been looking for this quote forever and totally forgot it was this early#and this is where he says the breakup songs are on the acoustic album#god lockdown had he writing three albums worth of songs like fuckin 92/93/94#2023#council skies#ng interviews#eighth album speculation#this is where i got that council skies was not his breakup album#good grief that’s been driving me batty i thought i’d made it up#euphoric rock hacienda nostalgia beegees i’m connecting the dots

Thinking about how when Taylor was making/releasing the album originally she was trying to correct the criticisms of Red and one of the big ones was that it was too sad/had too many break up songs on it and “Is It Over Now?,” “Now That We Don’t Talk,” “Say Don’t Go” and “Suburban Legends” all have a tinge of sadness to them. I am convinced that these vault tracks might not disguise the sadness that much or are more so focused on heartbreak as those on the main album are.
#taylor swift#1989 taylor's version#like those seem pretty clearly sad just in the titles alone#and I know she didn’t want to totally overwhelm the album with ‘sad breakup songs’#I’m so curious as to what they sound like#because I wouldn’t be surprised if she dressed them up in feel good beats

“See, I never really liked Sgt Pepper. I mean, I think it's a fine album. All the work we do is fine. But I think I felt like a session man on it. We put so much on it-- strings and brass-- and you'd sit 'round the studio for days, you know, while they're overdubbing other things. It is a fine album, but just for me emotionally I prefer Abbey Road and alot of the White Album. And the early albums for different reasons."
— Ringo Starr, Inner-view, August 29th, 1977
#ok I 100% believe pepper is the beatles masterpiece and their best album#but it’s obviously the album paul was most insufferable on#along with mmt I bet#and the thing that always intrigues me here#is that so many people seem to say that paul’s bossiness and controlling attitudes caused the breakup#but by all accounts he was getting better#not necessarily out of the goodness of his heart but just by sheer force#cause I think pre 1969 he was kind of oblivious to the harm he was causing#but by all accounts abbey road was a GOOD studio environment#so yeah obviously paul’s overbearing tendencies in the studio caused problems#but the idea that THAT was the impetus for the breakup really makes no sense#ringo starr#paul mccartney#the beatles#beatles#my quotes
