I’ve recently had this headcanon about percico and how many kids they’d have (if they decided to have any; I’ve also hc’d them to not opt for any and just be aimlessly wandering soulmates who are too afraid to have kids of their own).

Anyways, I was thinking that if they decide to have kids, they’d want a bit more than the average. No only children, two is too low, and three is like the lowest they’d go. I usually imagine like around 5, maybe more.

I think they’d want more just because both of them have had experiences where they’ve been very alone, under different circumstances.

Percy grew up with a single working class mom whom he didn’t get to see often, and had to deal with an abusive stepfather alone. There was no one in his home life that could really have his back all the time or stick up with or for him, and it’s shown in how defensive and protective he is over his friends. After he gets claimed at camp, Percy is sad that he has to relocate to a new cabin alone because he had found comfort and a small sense of togetherness in the Hermes cabin. He didn’t want to be alone again. Then later he does find out he has a half-sibling, but then Tyson is busy and can’t be around often, which does make Percy sad. Then his mom later has Estelle, and he’s of course very fond of her, but he’s much older and it’s just a different experience.

Nico, on the other hand, did grow up with a sibling. He and Bianca were very close and she was his only family for most of his young formative years. Then she passed away and he was left alone, grieving but also without anybody else to be there for him. Then he found Hazel, and he was older and made sure to take care of her as much as he could. He brought her back to life knowing that she could possibly be taken away again but still did it, because he knew what it was like to be alone and he didn’t want that for either of them. It would have been doubly devastating for him if Hazel had been taken away because that would have been the second time he’s had to go through that.

So, TLDR: Percy’s motivation for having lots of kids would be that he never had any siblings that he really got to grow up with and have his back when his mom or his friends couldn’t be there. He wouldn’t want his kids to feel alone and he would want them to be surrounded by a close circle. For Nico, the idea is that he did grow up with siblings and the trauma of having to go through losing his sister was not only awful because of the grief, but also because there was no one else there for him. I would think he would have this small bit of paranoia thinking that if anything were to happen to him, or Percy, or any of their children, at the very least their kids would have each other. Of course it wouldn’t reduce the pain or the impact of that loss, but it would maybe make it more bearable because they would have each other.

Also Nico has an inheritance. They don’t have to worry about how expensive it’ll be to raise those damn kids lmao

Stuck on the thought that Bruce tried to be a father for Dick, but Dick didn’t want one. He wanted an equal, someone to fight crime with. And consequently, Bruce drove him away with his overbearing nature.

And then Jason came to him, and of course Bruce had to do better this time. He didn’t want to lose another child Robin. Only he realized too late that Jason didn’t just want to be Batman’s partner, he wanted to be Bruce’s son.

Want to make a minor adjustment to my Steve With Much Older Siblings post from yesterday. I think it’d be a much more interesting dynamic if he’s actually their half sibling from an affair.

Their father had an affair with his secretary and then married her when she got pregnant. It broke up their family and they blamed Steve for it for years.

When they stayed over for their weekend with Dad, they were either outright cruel to him or pretended he didn’t exist. When they were old enough to stop coming over, they did. It’s only after growing up and maturing that (most of) his siblings were able to acknowledge that Steve was never at fault for their family breaking up.

They tried to mend their relationship with him, especially after realizing how absent his parents are, but by then Steve was old enough to build up his own resentment. It’s an uphill battle.

It’s a lot of actually coming around for holidays and a lot of teasing when they do. It’s actually picking the phone when the hospital calls, something that’s happening with increasing frequency.

Steve has never asked any of them for anything until one day, he shows up on Richie’s front porch smelling like death and gasoline. He’s got blood drying all over him and is visibly shaking, and Richie thinks that he’s been hurt in the earthquake but Steve barely acknowledges the concern, “I need you to represent my friend.”

“What?”

“You’re the only lawyer I know, and -“ Steve takes a big shuttering breath. “They’ll kill him, Rich. He never hurt anybody but no one will listen. They’ll lock him up and it won’t be fair, and Dustin can’t… I never ask you for anything but. But I need…”

“Eddie Munson?” He asks incredulous. “You’re friends with Eddie Munson?”

you figured that when you and Bakugou brought those at-home Halloween decorations, that he and you guys’ daughter would do it without problems. figured he’d help her when she needed it, to color in the lines, to get her clean water for her paint brushes, to wipe her hands when she dirtied them too much.

what you didn’t expect, was for there to be so much bickering. not between you and him, but him and your daughter.

“I told you to paint right here!” your daughter yells at him, angry little face pinched in frustration as she huffs. crossing her arms and glaring at him, at a mirror of herself. Bakugou meets her with that same expression; eyebrows drawn down, bottom lip slightly pouted, red sprouting on the high points of their cheeks.

“But you already painted there with your crappy puke green!” he yells back at her, pointing an accusatory paintbrush in her direction. you can only shake your head at them, minding your own business as you paint your little corner that your daughter has delegated to you.

“Because I didn’t want you to forget since you’re so old.” your daughter teases, even dares to stick her tongue out at him. Bakugou scoffs in indignation.

“Old?!” he damn near screeches. your daughter screams to the tops of her lungs when he rips her from her chair (gently, you smile to yourself, watch his quiet hesitation when he puts her in his arms too fast). “Who are ya calling old, you stinky little brat?”

he dangles her upside down, puffing his chest in satisfaction when she screams and giggles and calls to you for help. but you pretend like you can’t get her every time Bakugou pulls her back to his body. her smile is huge, her laughter infectious, so much so that even her dad has to hide his smile when she points up at him, yelling,

“Old man, old man! Ugly old man!” she absolutely squeals when Bakugou only roars at her, the both of them going at it while you continue to paint. when they finally decide to finish, you only hope he’s worn her out enough that she forgets all about trick or treating.

(she doesn’t—if anything, she doubles down and demands that Bakugou wear a crown similar to hers, even though his outfit doesn’t need it. he wears it anyway, proudly, with his little brat perched on his shoulder. you tell him she’s three now, that she doesn’t need to be picked up. but as he carries her slumped over form, asleep from the crash of a sugar rush, he cradles her even closer to his chest. he thinks that she’ll never be too old.)

I want a fic where Robin is adopted.

The only parents she has ever known are her own and the only time being adopted has ever bothered her was when Amanda St. James made fun of her for it in the third grade. But Robin told her that at least her parents wanted her and were not just stuck with her like Amanda’s parents, “And maybe that’s why your Mom and Dad are so unhappy all the time.”

She got in trouble for making Amanda cry and went back to never thinking about her birthparents. She had no interest in knowing anything about them and it stayed like that until she turned sixteen.

On her sixteenth birthday, her mom gave her a letter written to her by her birthmother. Robin doesn’t read it immediately, but eventually gives in to her own curiosity. She reads it over twice before her mind snags on a sentence, ‘I wanted to give you and your brother a better life…’ … you and your brother…. You and your brother…. You and-

“I have a brother.”

This eats at Robin, especially after her dad’s call to the adoption agency goes nowhere. It eats at her so much that she finally gives in – Fred Benson swears up and down that Nancy Wheeler is the best investigator on the school paper – and asks for help.

Nancy says yes and is maybe a little too invested in finding the truth, but honestly, Robin is having fun and she wants to find her apparent twin. She wants to know about his life. Settle the whole nurture over nature thing.

They hit a lot of walls, a lot of dead ends. They break a few rules and maybe commit a felony. They enlist Jonathan Byers to help and even Eddie Munson at one point because he knows how to pick locks, and it’s all for nothing.

One day when they have everything they’ve found spread out across the Wheeler’s dining room table, Steve comes over to pick up Dustin. He looks down at the whole mess and points at her birth certificate like, “Hey, we were born on the same day.”
