When the paddock first witnessed the prominent red hickeys on your neck, it had been at one of the hotter grand prix's. You'd been sweating profusely, moisture forming on the parts of your body you didn't even know could sweat until you'd decided you'd had enough. You had taken off your pink turtleneck—a rookie mistake.
"goddamn, y/n, you getting mauled by a bear behind closed doors?" Daniel guffaws from beside you, a hearty laugh slipping past his lips because ofcourse it does. Shit. Your hands fly up and you attempt to cover the expanse of your neck. Because, when I say Lando marks you everywhere, he truly does. With no shame. A pair of familiar arms wrap around your waist from behind you, and Lando has the fucking audacity to sink his teeth into your exposed shoulder. "finished my media duties, baby, what's goin' on here?" Your boyfriend's former teammate only smiles suggestively and jokes while motioning towards your tainted neck, "just wondering if y/n's dating you or a werewolf." Lando grins. Good, Lan beams internally, that's how it should be. You dating him. You being his. All his, forever.
Carlos had been standing beside you and Lando through this interaction and muttered an empathetic, 'ay, lando, give her neck mercy, you animal' because he was not a stranger to this. The brit was his best friend on the grid and the person he'd spend the most time with, so he was aware that Lan had this possessive tendency. Hell, he was more than aware. If you were in close proximity to Lando, you best believe his lips were on you in any way possible. The spaniard couldn't count on one hand how many times he'd have to talk to Lando while the latter was licking, biting, sucking at your neck and jaw.
It was safe to say that the color of your cheeks rivals that of your turtleneck now.

After today's Hyuna comic, I don't think I've ever loved her more.
It strikes me how startlingly selfless she is. The 4nakt group - Mizi, Till, Ivan, Sua - all of their performances are charged with a passion and love for one another. Luka and Hyuna's performances stand out in this way because they aren't singing for love. Luka sings to win. Hyuna sings not because she has to anymore, but because she wants to.
When she breaks out into that spontaneous performance in the comic to rally the other rebels while Jacob is gone, it looks like it's almost physically painful for her. How could it not be? The lyrics tease shows us that she lost her leg escaping Alien Stage. She lost her brother in Anakt Garden. Singing was probably so tainted for her.
But she did it anyway. Time and time again, Hyuna's entire world falls apart. Hyunwoo died, and thus, he and Luka were both gone to her. Her illusion of safety was ripped from her. She was gravely wounded in her escape. She couldn't save the other kids. She lost Jacob, who was like a brother to her - she lost a second brother. Anyone else would crumble utterly.
But Hyuna didn't. Every time, she gets back up. She fights no matter what. She takes back every little bit of her life that she lost in her own way with hands torn bloody from holding on and avenges it. She's painfully selfless, she literally gives her voice, her life, to those around her to try and save them, or even just to lift them up for the moment. It makes me wonder whether that ties into her relationship with Luka, too - he seemed so alone in Anakt Garden without Hyuna and Hyunwoo. Could she have seen him and thought, I can save him, that thing inside of him?
Hyuna's life is a sum of all the people she couldn't save. She couldn't save Hyunwoo. My fault. She couldn't save Luka. My fault. She couldn't save those kids. My fault. She couldn't save Jacob. My fault. My fault, my fault, my fault.
Yet she continues to try. After all of that pain, she still saved Mizi from her round against Luka and freed her. She tried to save her by holding her back from going after Till during Round 7 because she knew that Mizi was doing exactly what Hyuna had done time and time again, and she already knew what the outcome would be. She had gone against Luka. She had gone against the Segyein. She knew Till couldn't win. Mizi couldn't win.
She tried to protect her, just like Sua tried to protect Mizi, right up until the minute she couldn't shield her from the truth anymore.
This brings me to the apparent song for next episode, Wiege. Cradle. Hyuna's cradle was ripped from her, so she tries to be the cradle for others. The safety. The savior.
But now she has to face the music. She can't save Luka if he doesn't want to be saved. She can't save Mizi because Mizi made her choice. Maybe she can't even save herself now.
This round is going to be a hell of a time and no I am not ready like ever

I remember seeing a post once about how Bella's only really ~selfless~ when it comes to the Edward/the Cullens and i honestly agree.
even if midnight sun supposedly gave more moments of bella's told ~kindness and selflessness~ in the main books where they're actually from HER pov there are still plenty moments where it comes off otherwise.
She only really gets close to jacob just to have him tell her about the legends, so she can figure out more about edward/his family, to which in MS Edward gets this ✨brilliant✨ idea to use that as a "justification" to slaughter a tribe that already is willing to allow his family in their area despite having EVERY right to not welcome them due to what their kind can do to their people. so that's..fun :) (actually speaking of MS, I can't get over how edward is bitching about billy being rightfully leery of them and hates how he sees them as monsters despite saying the same things to Bella whenever he wants to convince her of how dangerous their relationship/her choice to be a vampire is. lol)
In new moon, she only decides to reconnect with Jessica mainly to "get Charlie off her back" and when Jessica gets rightfully upset that she nearly got into trouble approaching some shady guys in a bar, Bella sees Jessica as "having gone to the dark side". Like?? Bella, your lucky she even still bothered to hang out with you after giving her the cold shoulder for months. And the first time you two hang out, you nearly endangered yourself AND her all because you wanted to see a figment of Edward in your head.
In fact! While I like Jacob's friendship with Bella in new moon (idc if people said it was boring because "no vampires"; the platonic chemistry bella and jacob had was 👌👌) the fact was Bella's original plan to see Jacob was to get him to fix the bikes so she can keep seeing "Edward" in her head.
I remember being irritated at Bella mostly at the end of New Moon, tbh. A moment that stood out was when Charlie was mad at Edward for leaving her behind and what he did to her (as a good father SHOULD) yet Bella threatens him to leave home if he won't ease up on edward as if he's the one who doesn't get it?? Bella sucks in that scene because earlier she LEARNS how hard it was for Charlie, seeing her like that and trying every possible way to help her (only for Bella to reject it each time) and yet he's expected to deal with the same guy who, from his perspective, broke his daughter's heart like nothing happened??
In Eclipse, while Bella's moment with Angela helping her with the letters was nice (wish we got more of these small moments, especially if Angela was supposedly such a good friend to her), it's tainted with how it was mainly so she wouldn't have to confront Edward's anger (yikes) for her seeing Jacob.
Actually, most of Eclipse i really disliked how Bella kinda see's anyone that doesn't kiss ass to the Cullens or are completely okay with her despite how she treated them during her depression period as the "bad guys" (Bella's words on her classmates: "us vs them").
Honestly, Breaking Dawn was such a hot mess (though our little friend group may be revisiting the entire saga (which will unfortunately include BD) next year for it's 20th anniversary, so...godspeed lol) but the main thing that stood out was how she and the Cullens were just...willing to host all the visiting vampires over at Forks, these vampires who DO feed on human blood, and risk all the children of the tribe phasing into wolves. And ALL she has to say about either are "well, them feeding on humans makes me uncomfortable but oh well :( " and "with all these vampires, the explosion of werewolf population was inevitable :0" Tbh it's not just Bella in this situation, the Cullens in here really suck. There was NO reason they couldn't just meet somewhere else. I do partially blame Jacob for it too, because I *think* there was this line where he talks (to Edward iirc?) about how hard it is to be away from Ricochet, but dude! Just go with them! You don't need to endanger the younger people in your tribe! You of ALL people should know what that's like!!
So far that's all i have to say becus that's all I can remember (though that might change once our friend book club get together next year for the saga's 20th, where our memories will be much more fresh XD). it's just,,,UGH, I can't wrap my head with how Edward and Jacob go on about Bella being so ~selfless~ with Jacob even going on about how she's a ~martyr when really, her selflessness is either selective, or mostly just self-serving.
I really enjoy the Jacob and Bella friendship, too, but when you stop and think about it . . . it all started with her using him. The first time she awkwardly attempted to flirt with him to get him to tell her the 'scary stories' on the beach, and then in New Moon she shows up out of nowhere because she wants him to fix the bikes. Bella eventually realizes like "oh hey I genuinely like spending time with Jake," but it started with "what can I get out of him?"
And like, fine! Humans do that kind of stuff! We're flawed! It's just weird the narrative is demonizing Jessica for like, mostly hanging out with Bella to try and get some of Bella's instant popularity to rub off on her, but Bella gets a pass for her treatment of Jacob because Protagonist. Bella's allowed to be flawed, that's great, makes her more interesting, but the overall narrative is still like "omg so SELFLESS" and it's like, um sometimes?
And yeah I will always hate the Breaking Dawn feeding situation. There are so many better ways to resolve it. But I think SM ultimately wasn't really interested in the vegetarian vampire stuff beyond just needing a reason Edward and Bella could be together. There are fun things she could have done here if she like, cared. She's already established that Carlisle is buying blood. Maybe their guests would have found it delightfully amusing to be served blood in wine glasses or Esme could make like 1950s housewife blood Jello molds or something. OR there could have been arguments about it! Carlisle trying to persuade them, Emmett challenging them "bet you can't go a week on our diet plan!" Rosalie sneering in disgust. Siobhan testing her maybe-power by trying to see if she can will everyone to abstain. OR they were literally only there for like two weeks. That's the average length of time between hunting. The book kind of makes it feel like they were there for a long time, but the earliest showed up middle of December and the confrontation is on New Year's Eve. Also I can't get over the idea that all these people KNOW Carlisle. Some have known him longer than the other Cullens have! You don't go visit your devout vegan friend and expect to be served bacon cheeseburgers. You try the tofu stir-fry.
But SM didn't really want to get into it, so Bella doesn't super care. I personally think "it makes me a little uncomfortable" was just the laziest, least satisfying way to handle it. And the shifters just having to stand there and watch because oh well we need them to witness for Nessie and she's Jacob's imprint so she matters more than anyone else is, uh, not good. Especially when earlier in the SAME BOOK Sem straight-up says: "When blood drinkers cross our land, we destroy them, no matter where they plan to hunt. We protect everyone we can." Again, there could be interesting conflict here, but it would shift the focus from the Bella and Nessie stuff, so Bella just feels a little bad and we move on.
But anyway yeah I think Bella's the most selfless when it comes to grand gestures. She'll exile herself to Forks so Renee will be free to travel, she'll sacrifice herself to James to save her mom, she'll consider stabbing herself with a rock to distract Victoria and Riley to save Edward and Seth, she'll risk her life and dreamed-of eternity with Edward to bring Renesmee into the world. But in the day-to-day stuff, she can be just as selfish and manipulative and judgmental as anyone else. She's 'human,' even when she's not human anymore.

Hey.
Can you write a pedro × reader. Where they are co stars in a movie working together and they have feelings for each other. One night here there is a party in the reader's room , everyone leaves, pedro helps the reader clean up and they are kinda of drunk and so the have their first kiss?
this was such a cute idea
“Goodnight” you waved at Jacob, who replied with a drunken mumble and an even drunken smile. That one too many drinks unmistakable in his stumbled walk to the elevator.
You chuckled picturing how he was gonna show up to set tomorrow with a pounding headache.
You closed the door, the soft click of the lock disrupting the silence in the room.
"thank you for staying to help," you said, turning around just to find Pedro with a trash bag in hand, already cleaning up.
His big brown eyes lifted from the counter, finding yours, and once again, you felt your heart shimmer slightly.
He had this incredibly annoying and honestly understandable effect on you.
It wasn't all the time though, just when he touched you, or looked at you, or when he'd laugh at one of your jokes...
"of course," he smiled like it didn't make your skin suddenly feel too tight "We made a mess, I couldn't leave you alone to fix it"
You beamed thankfully and grabbed a trashbag of your own.
"so did you have fun?" you asked, as you both cleaned the kitchen.
"I did" He nodded "Well I always have fun when I'm with you"
You chuckled softly
"It's true" he insisted "You have this thing about you..."
"my foolishness?"
"no no, god no" he smiled " You're just... light"
"light?" you asked, your curiosity peaked as you stepped closer
He was smiling like he knew he was messing up all the words.
"yes, light," he repeated "refreshing, fun, warm"
"wow" you grinned "I am a lot of things it seems"
"I'm sorry" he shook his head "I don't know how to explain myself"
"I told you you didn't need that last beer" you joked, making him chuckle.
"You were probably right, as always" he chuckled, taking a quick breath "I just mean that you are... well you are pretty amazing"
"pretty amazing?" you asked, red tainting your cheeks ever so slightly.
"just amazing actually"
"you're flattering me Pedro" you bit your lip "but just so you know, you're amazing too"
And you didn't know if it was the alcohol but his cheeks seemed more crimson too.
He smiled "Trust me you’re more" he stated "and not only that, you're a lot of other things"
his mouth was moving faster than his brain could give him the signal to stop. The safe where he had hidden all the secret thoughts he had spent months having had just been jammed with a few sips too much, and he was unable to stop all from spilling.
"am I?" you asked playfully "Like what?"
His hand went to your arm, and you were certain you had both felt the electricity passing between you.
"Well you are-" he cleared his throat, stepping properly in front of you "You're very beautiful" he confessed "distractingly beautiful in fact" he kept going, as his eyes fell to your lips and yours on his.
Was this really happening? was the only thought on both of your minds.
"God knows how many times I've messed up a line because I was busy staring at you"
"Pedro-"
"or just thinking about you really" he smiled to himself before he got more serious, his eyes decisive
"you're not drunk, are you?" he asked,
"no, you?"
" Sober as a Judge," he said, mere seconds before his lips were on yours.
You felt fireworks go off in your stomach, and he felt the same in his.
He brought his hands up to your face, holding you like you were about to slip away, and yours went to his chest, his broad and firm chest that felt every bit as you had imagined.
His lips, however, felt much better. He was being so soft and gentle and you felt yourself melt onto him.
You leaned away to catch your breath and you looked at each other incredulously, no words forming in your throat.
He stoaked your cheek, his mouth tugging the happiest smile you had ever seen on a man.
"I can't believe this happened" he beamed "I've been thinking about this since you first flashed that smile at me"
You smiled
"Exactly" he kissed you again briefly "That one"

anyway quick summary of what i think each character represents to isaacs psyche before i go to bed. regular characters are a part of him as a person and the tainted characters then reflect part of his trauma imo
isaac: obviously himself, but also isaac being a blank slate represents how he created so many personas to deal with his trauma/tainted isaac: the physical abuse isaac experienced and how he had to adapt as a survival strategy
magdalene: his love and admiration for his mother, to the point of wanting to be just like her/tainted magdalene: isaac's desperate need and latching onto any positive attention + his association of love with physical and emotional pain due to having shitty parents
cain: isaac feeling like he destroyed his family and the guilt that comes with that/tainted cain: hoarding
judas: isaac feeling like he’s betrayed both those he loves and his faith/tainted judas: intentionally acting out bc you believe you’re evil anyway
???: isaac's perception of himself after death/tainted ???: generally playing with feces is a common symptom of childhood trauma, which tainted ??? takes to an absurd extent.
eve: isaac's suicidal ideation and desire to self harm, along with internalised misogyny from his upbringing/tainted eve: self harming and suicidal behaviour
samson: isaac's anger and frustration/tainted samson: violent outbursts from trauma triggers
azazel: isaac's religious delusions of being the antichrist and his sins/tainted azazel: isaac's belief he needs to be punished and physically hurt for those “sins”
lazarus: potentially past suicide attempts/thoughts of suicide, and the religious implications of such/tainted lazarus: isaac's fear of purgatory and being unable to enter heaven due to suicide being a sin.
eden: the playfulness and silliness of like, a normal five year old, and isaac's maladaptive daydreaming/tainted eden: the fawn response, changing who you are to try and make what’s hurting you stop
the lost: again, isaac's idea of himself after his suicide/tainted lost: fear of being forsaken and abandoned again bc suicide is a sin and he’d be stuck in purgatory in his own head.
lilith: isaac's negative thoughts on his mother shifted to a “safe” alternative/tainted lilith: fear of sexuality and growing up
keeper: both again isaac's constant thoughts of death + a representation of his father, who he both admires and fears becoming/tainted keeper: indulgence and risky behaviours as a distraction
apollyon: due to the void representing delirium, possibly a reflection of isaac's own thoughts/reflections on his psychosis?/tainted apollyon: dunno tbh the later characters are less obvious and it’s 2 am
forgotten: isaac's idea of purgatory and what he thinks he deserves after his suicide, due to it being “sinful”/tainted forgotten: again, isaac's fear of being stuck forever due to that
bethany: isaac's idea of what he “should” be, being virtuous and holy where he feels he is sinful and damned/tainted bethany: clinging to his religion as a coping mechanism or rejecting it violently out of fear
jacob + esau: desire for a friend/sibling?/tainted jacob: impostor syndrome, feeling like you’ve betrayed/stolen from people around you.
again these are very simplified very tentative and it is 2 am so I cannot elaborate but. i think about this way too much.

hi! just wanted you to know that I love your art and you have some of the most correct Enoch hcs ever.
will you please provide some more?🥺🥺🥺
please?
Thank you so much!!! Absolutely I will, I will talk about that one all day if you let me
When he’s not around, Horace can be found with a homunculus chilling somewhere on him, usually in his hands, on his shoulder, or on his hat. Just so Enoch can keep an eye on him. Not that he’s worried or anything (that would imply he has feelings)
He gets along surprisingly well with Olive and Claire when he’s not actively trying to annoy them. They’ll follow him around and he’ll let them play with his homunculi or put on puppet shows for them, and if she asks he’ll carry Claire around and give her piggyback rides, though most of the time he’ll pretend he’s annoyed with her for asking.
He’s very good with kids in general, just completely subconsciously. He doesn’t have a clue how that happened. In his words, small children like him and he has no idea why.
He has a love-hate relationship with his scars from the end of TDODA. Some days he thinks they’re badass, but some days he also gets really insecure about them because of other people’s reactions to them. When that happens, he’ll refuse to leave the loop or even sometimes his room for the rest of the day.
Enoch is actually very shy when meeting new people. If an ymbryne-in-training or someone new or important comes to the loop to talk to Miss Peregrine, he’ll spy on them from outside or from another room, but if they try to actually talk to him he retreats to the basement and doesn’t come out until they’re gone.
He can play trombone. Notice I did not say he could do it well.
He can also play piano, but that’s less a headcanon and more something kinda confirmed by MOW when he’s stated to have used up six hearts teaching a skeleton to play piano.
He was bullied pretty badly by Abe in the short time they lived together, but none of the kids fully believed him when he said something. He doesn’t blame them—he was new, and when he was new he was even more prickly and defensive than usual, so they’d usually assume he started it and was upset Abe was finishing it when he almost never did. He never told anyone how bad it got until he vented about it to Horace almost a century later, who now completely resents Abe. He refuses to let anyone even mention it to Jacob for fear of tainting his grandfather’s image in his head.
Enoch is one of if not the pickiest eater in the entire house. He has lived weeks off of McDonald’s French fries from the present and Jacob’s retrieval of them for him because everything else sounded like poison.
Noor introduced him to Hot Wheels and he is obsessed. He has a collection of them in his room and Miss Peregrine had to make a rule within the first day that he can’t put mouse hearts in them and make them into homemade RC cars because they’re too small to see on the floor and Bronwyn nearly got a concussion from trying to dodge one thinking it was a bug.
If he has any pride merch from the present at all, regardless of orientation, he has pins and buttons. Nothing else. Enoch does not see the point of all the different flags and symbols but he does see the beauty in being able to chase Horace around the house trying to stab him. The fact that the pins haven’t been confiscated is a miracle.
He chews on things to stim. Favorite objects include every pencil he has ever owned, a lanyard Jacob gave him from a college he’s never heard of, his nails until they start tasting like formaldehyde, and Horace’s fingers. Horace has given up on trying to stop this.
I have many, MANY more should you want more. Mostly for Enoch and Horace but for any of the kids really I think about them A Lot

IWTV Musings: LDPDL & the Black Mayfairs: Oncle Vervain & Merrick
On the heels of both seasons of Castlevania Nocturne, I'm even more sad/mad that Oncle Vervain Mayfair was cut from AMC!IWTV & that we lost some of Louis' connection to his Haitian Creole culture. I've discussed Oncle Vervain before (x x x), but no one EVER talks about him, and it's such a shame & missed opportunity on S1's part.
AMC!Vervain vs Lestat, "Nawlins Voodoo meet European Voodoo"
We got several scenes of Oncle Vervain in Rolin Jones pilot script:
Vervain warns Louis that Papa Legba, the protective Voodoo loa of the crossroads, had forsaken NOLA--the very same night Lestat arrived in Storyville. The morning before Louis goes to Tom Anderson's poker game (when Lestat freezes time), he visits Oncle Vervain for a good luck spell (gris gris).
Paul, ofc, disapproves of Louis dabbling with Oncle Vervain (cuz Catholics think everything not in the Bible is from frikkin Satan 🙄), but Louis tells him to stfu.
Next time we see Oncle Vervain is the night of the DPDL dinner, when Lestat & Louis are chatting outside 1132, before Miss Lily appears on the balcony in her underwear.
Oncle Vervain IMMEDIATELY clocks that ish ain't right with Lestat as soon as he looks in Lestat's unnatural vampire eyes. He knows Lestat's a bloodless vampire, and starts praying to Papa Legba for protection; but Louis' a sweet baby idiot who just assumes that Lestat does "European Voodoo," and asks Oncle Vervain in Haitian Creole to be nice to his "friend." But Oncle Vervain ain't stupid, and is like hayul naw, and keep your tainted money, too!
Jacob Anderson is SO good with languages, so I'd've LOVED to see Black!Louis speak Haitian Creole, we were robbed and NO I won't STFU about it, Rolin, you OWE ME! 😩
There's also Louis' relationship with other religions. Cuz Haitian Voodoo shaped his life too; he DOES believe in magic, and the power of the gods/spirits/ancestors, and there's a REASON Lestat's weirdness doesn't faze him as much as it SHOULD. Cuz Voodoo & Catholicism go hand-in-hand, but most people never know that; they assume voodoo practitioners are just godless satanists; when no, Voodoo is deeply Catholic.
Plus, there's this thing very common in vampire lore. The victim of The Vampire is usually abnormally sensitive or aware of the occult beforehand in some way--from 2024!Ellen Hutter's epileptic fits being associated with the fae/changelings; to 1992!Mina Harker being a reincarnated dead woman who has dreams/visions/memories of her past life as Dracula's bride; to book!Lestat being the 7th son who goes to the Witches Place and sometimes sees spirits; and ofc AMC!Louis in the pilot script relying on Voodoo magic from Oncle Vervain, and mistaking Lestat as a European Voodoo master.
So I just wish we'd seen Oncle Vervain in living colour, with him & Lou interacting; and esp. Oncle Vervain & Lestat squaring off, I'd've died laughing, cuz Oncle Vervain was NOT playing games with him! 😅
Oncle Vervain & AMC!LDPDL: Twinsies
Funny enough, Oncle Vervain resembles vampire!Louis: A young mixed race Creole with "frightening" light eyes just like Merrick's (which the books say are green).
AMC keeps creaming themselves over Rowan Mayfair's actress' light eyes, but Vervain & Merrick had eerie eyes, too!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/07bbb9149987dbdf67d5bfb4a70f47f4/6a59282ac94ff9f9-e2/s540x810/6abed07cd5875112c16586794ae560a37c55c5cb.webp)
It would've been so cool to see brown-eyed!Louis as a human interact with a green/hazel-eyed Oncle Vervain, who could see spirits and knew all about the things that go bump in the night--Lestat included. Then Louis' made a vampire, and HE looks like Oncle Vervain, but a more twisted unnatural version of him. They're BOTH on the other side of the veil now, the same mystic veil that Louis had always been drawn to, even when no one else in his family approved. But Louis' one of the lougarou that Oncle Vervain AVOIDS. Louis has the WRONG type of magic now--the wrong type of green eyes from Oncle Vervain.
Alas, so many missed opportunities, Rolin. 😔
book!Vervain, and the Black Mayfairs
Like, Oncle Vervain's backstory in Merrick is WILD.
Oncle Vervain Mayfair was SCARY--not scary cuz he's evil or anything (the way Oncle Julien/Lasher scared everyone); but scary in that he's POWERFUL, which was RARE in male Mayfairs. Julien (b. 1828) & Vervain (c. very late 1800s/very early 1900s) were the goats.
The Mayfairs are all descended from Petyr van Abel, a psychic in the Talamasca, who impregnated Deborah Mayfair (and then impregnated their daughter Charlotte Mayfair), the daughter of Suzanne Mayfair, the first witch to ever summon Lasher. The Mayfairs inherited Petyr's psychic powers & Suzanne's extra chromosome (Taltos DNA); some Mayfairs having more or less, depending on their particular line's level of incest & inbreeding. Male Mayfairs could be strong psychics, but none of them were ever Lasher's Witch, except Julien Mayfair.
The Black Mayfairs learned a lot from Oncle Julien, but they had nothing to do with Lasher (a white supremacist eugenicist who'd actually remove the melanin from the Black slaves he possessed, so they could look Caucasian & more like him. 🤦). Julien Mayfair slept with A LOT of people, including Black women he impregnated with more Mayfair witches. Some were high yellow enough to pass as white & mix with the White Mayfairs, but the darker-skinned Creoles who couldn't pass (Merrick's line) were left on the margins--which was actually a good thing, since it kept Lasher FAR away from them, bless. But Oncle Julien would still swap magic with them (amongst other things....), and apparently he had a much more amicable relationship with the Black Mayfairs than any of the White Mayfairs; the way they talk about him is radically different from how the White Mayfairs did, which AMC obvs kept as canon--
--and the way the Black Mayfairs talked about Julien's radically different from how they talked about the rest of the White Mayfairs, too; whom they often saw as nosey busybodies & interlopers, and as racist hypocrites too ashamed to acknowledge the descendants of their Black slaves, lovers & mistresses.
(AMC removed all the racial/racist aspects of the Mayfairs & Taltos, a change I already said I hate, but wtvr.)
Angelique's genealogy's vague AF. For Julien to have been her nephew by blood, that means she has to have been a Black by-blow of either Julien's grandfather Henri Marie Landry (d. 1824), or more likely Julien's grandmother Marie Claudette Mayfair (d. 1831)--since Mayfairs pass the Mayfair name down matrilineally. (And for Julien to have met Angelique while he lived at First Street in NOLA, that had to be after after 1857, when the house was bought.) Wtvr, Julien & Angelique's son was Jerome Mayfair (aka The Old Man), the father of Alexis Mayfair; and grandfather of Vervain & Nananne. Merrick Mayfair knew The Old Man Jerome learned voodoo in Haiti & taught it to Oncle Vervain.
So Oncle Vervain got his power indirectly from the Taltos/Talamasca genes of the OG White Mayfairs, but more directly from learning the natural magic of his paternal Afro-Caribbean (& White Mayfair) ancestors who were Voodoo practitioners; and his maternal Mesoamerican ancestors who practiced brujeria.
Anne Rice bounced all around from the Maya to Aztec to Olmec to Guatemala to Brazil, like wtf? I hate when she talks about non-white peoples & cultures; let alone talking through them. 🤦
So yeah, Oncle Vervain & his baby sister Great Nananne are Black Creole descendants of Julien Mayfair. And Merrick Mayfair's mother Sandra was Great Nananne's granddaughter--Nananne had a Black daughter that married a white man and had 12 kids (sheesh!); but Sandra came out too dark-skinned to pass, so Merrick's white grandfather rejected his own biracial child & made his Black wife give Sandra away to be raised by Great Nananne instead, jfc.
If Sandra had been born lightskinted, she'd've taken her white dad's name & left NOLA for Chicago & not been raised as a Mayfair at all. But instead, Great Nananne taught Sandra and her daughters Honey & Merrick everything she knew about Voodoo, Oncle Vervain, and Oncle Julien.
Merrick Mayfair, "Blood Children," & book!Loustat
AMC!Vervain's attitude towards Loustat is so interesting, cuz he seems to feel very differently towards vampires than book!Vervain did about "Blood Children." According to Merrick Mayfair, Oncle Vervain had a vision of her future when she was a kid, and KNEW she'd be Turned into a vampire:
Merrick believed she & Louis were destined to meet; she'd become a great witch & voodoo priestess, her reputation would reach LDPDL via the Talamasca, and she'd be called in to help Lou exorcise ghost!Claudia.
From what book!Dolly Jean told book!Rowan Mayfair, Oncle Vervain's heart broke to learn Merrick was doomed to become a vampire. But according to Merrick, Oncle Vervain still helped & supported her, doing nothing to intervene--likely cuz the Black Mayfairs knew that Oncle Julien's ghost (d. 1914) had already started meddling with Mayfairs, and it never worked.
Moreover, Tante Oscar foretold that Loustat would cross Merrick's path:
I've long wondered if Raglan James' "you should fear the other one" actually referred to Lestat, a la the books:
Cuz Tante Oscar warned the Mayfairs that the vampire to fear was Lestat, the French blonde one who talked funny. The Mayfairs were like chile who GAF about Louis; just shake a crucifix at him and he'll run scared. 😂🤣 LESTAT was the boogeyman for them--and Rolin clearly picked up on this, seeing the way AMC!Vervain reacted to him in the pilot script. So he told Tante Oscar to tell the rest of the Mayfairs to stay far away Lestat, who'd do "terrible things" to them; while Louis would never actually attack a Mayfair in a fight.
So, Merrick Mayfair helped Louis exorcise ghost!Claudia in Merrick, AND she helped Quinn exorcise ghost!Goblin in Blackwood Farm--two tortured undead children whose souls had been warped by vampirism and couldn't rest & cross over without Merrick there to guide them all--even at the cost of her soul/life (*cough* the Magical Negro sacrificed for the sake of white characters, ofc). I've always said that I HATE how Merrick died, and how AR kept treating Black women in her books; and I was really hoping Merrick would be in AMC!IWTV so she could get better representation. Alas, it never happened. Not only that, but Rolin also cut Oncle Vervain Mayfair, too, like wtf?
TBF, I do wonder if Rolin removed the Mayfairs cuz DANIEL fulfills much of their role already, esp. wrt parsing Claudia's diaries in S1; and getting the Talamasca's help (to free Louis from Armand's toxic clutches). Armand became the parasite haunting/plaguing Louis' mind, rather than ghost!Claudia haunting him, that Daniel needed to exorcise/purge.
BUT!
IF we get ghost!Claudia in S3 haunting Lestat, AMC could totally move Merrick & Vervain to Lestat's storyline instead (loathe as I am to have anymore Black characters exposed to Lestat until he's taken a few CRT classes & gotten a boatload of therapy.) That way we can still get Merrick's backstory, and see everything Oncle Vervain taught her, and see her seance with Claudia (and hopefully even get Oncle Vervain's NOLA flashbacks with Loustat!).
MAKE IT HAPPEN, ROLIN. 🙏

The Dichotomy
by David Kushner
No High: Loving Emmett was a dangerous addiction—one she couldn't quit, even if she wanted to.
Poison: Watching Jake chase a love that would never be his felt like drowning in slow motion, not knowing that someday, he’d realize she was the one meant for him all along.
Skin and Bones: She was an addiction Jasper could never escape, a temptation wrapped in skin and bones, calling to the monster within.
Hero: Jacob thought love was supposed to be the thing that saved them, but some fires only consume.
You and Me: When love feels more like drowning than breathing, can Carlisle and Y/n hold on, or will they let the tide take them under?
Love is Going to Kill Us : Carlisle knew that was never meant to be easy, not for them. Between the weight of eternity and the sins of the past, they must decide if the love that binds them is worth the slow, aching destruction it promises.
Dead Man: Jasper has spent lifetimes haunted by the weight of his past, but it’s not just his scars that linger—it’s the ghost of her and the war she left inside him. When Y/N looks at him, she doesn’t see the dead man he’s always been; she sees the man he could be.
Flesh x Blood: Jacob thought he had everything figured out—his purpose, his path, his heart. But when fate demands more than just flesh and blood, he must decide if love is enough to break the man he once was and rebuild him into something stronger.
Sweet Oblivion : Love should be a sanctuary, but with Jacob, it feels like standing at the edge of a storm—beautiful, destructive, and impossible to resist. She was never meant to be his salvation, yet in her arms, he finds a recklessness that feels like coming home.
Buried At Sea: There was no world where Emmett Cullen would let her go—not even in death. But when fate twists its cruel fingers around them, dragging them into the dark, they must decide whether love is enough to keep them from sinking.
Humankind: Faith had always been fragile in her hands—shattered by loss, hardened by solitude, and tainted by the cruelty of the world. But when Carlisle looks at her, his touch gentle despite the storm in his eyes, she wonders if, for the first time, she’s found something to believe in.
Universe: Some loves are written in the stars, bound by an unbreakable pull. But when fate threatens to tear Emmett and Y/n apart, will their love survive the darkness, or will they find each other in another universe?
Heaven Sees: Carlisle had spent centuries mastering control, wielding restraint like a blade to keep himself from ruin. But when Y/N enters his world, tangled in fate and shadowed by something neither of them understands, his control isn’t just tested—it’s obliterated.
Darkerside: Jasper had spent a lifetime walking the tightrope between darkness and restraint, but something about her made the war inside him quiet. He shouldn't want her—shouldn't crave the warmth she so easily offered—but when she looked at him like that, like she saw the man beneath the monster, he didn't know if he had the strength to stay away.
California Nights: Y/N finds herself drawn to Jacob in a way that feels both inevitable and unbearable. As emotions crackle like static in the air, they must confront the shadows of their connection—and the secrets threatening to break them apart—before it’s too late.
Saving Your Soul: When darkness looms over Y/N’s fragile humanity, Emmett finds himself torn between protecting her from the horrors of his world and embracing the bond they’ve tried to deny. With the Devil’s shadow creeping closer, their connection might be the only light strong enough to save them both—but only if they’re brave enough to confront it.
Daylight: Jasper Hale was a man at war—with himself, with his past, and now, with her. Y/N was the one thing he could never have, never touch, but the bond between them was suffocating, inescapable—two souls entwined in sin and salvation, running from the daylight yet desperate for its warmth.

tags: fem hannigram, kinda oc will graham (gave her my personality), graphic descriptions of violence, slight changes to the og plot, hannibal is head over heels and it’s disgusting. this is basically a rewrite of the second episode. if there’s any mistakes, let me know PLEASE!! word count is 3.9k!! read the first part, here!!
The coming days gifted Will a pitiless return to the FBI. She was certain that the last thing Jack Crawford desired in the investigation was Garret Jacob Hobbs’ brutal end or that his only surviving victim became a surrogate daughter to her and Hannibal. Unwilling to admit it to herself, the two women grew fond of Abigail Hobbs. For all legal purposes, they were now her mothers.
Jack was dragging her along because she was already entrapped in the gut of the monster hiding under Wilhelmina’s bed. Wherever he went, she had to follow. As they devoured themselves into Footnotes of Garret’s life, nightmares taunted Will. The concerning aspect was that she was sometimes awake for them. After relieving the shooting of Garret in her dreamscape, Jack knocked on the passenger door window. She jolted, refraining herself from cursing.
They were now residing in Minnesota’s very own Evil Minds museum. As the antlers shadowed them overhead, Will scoured any surfaces in sight with her flashlight. She was cautious of her footing, avoiding the FBI evidence bags. Jack hovered in the corner, spewing what Will would call bullshit.
“Abigail Hobbs is a suspect?” she questioned, her tone faltering. To Jack, it sounded a lot like “Abigail Hobbs is not a suspect.”
“We've been conducting house-to-house interviews around the Hobbs residence and this property,” he explained to her. Will’s eyebrows furrowed, a bit of unsettlement in her stomach. “What’s the gossip?”
Jack continued, “Hobbs and his daughter spent a lot of time together. They spent a lot of time together here. She would be the ideal bait, wouldn't she?”
If Will wasn’t hyper-focused on an out-of-place hair on the floor, she would have considered rolling her eyes. “Hobbs killed alone,” she declared while collecting the hair fiber. She held it up to her face, examining it. A flicker of realization washed over Will. She squinted her eyes, L’Heure Bleue clouding her senses. “Someone else was here, Jack.”
A day later, Will was welcomed with approving applause from the students. It left an astringent taste on her tongue as she pleaded with them to stop. She began her lecture similarly to how Garret slit Abigail’s throat. She wasn’t yearning for the unnecessary admiration to linger.
She dimmed the lights and presented a slide of Hobbs’ resignation letter. “This is how I caught Garret Jacob Hobbs. It's his resignation letter. Anybody see the clue?” she bellowed. Will ignored the hands that instantly rose. “There isn’t one,” she started, noticing the puzzlement on her trainees’ faces. “He wrote a letter, and left his phone number but no address,” she added.
Will advanced to the next slide, showing a picture of Hobbs shot to death. “Bad bookkeeping and dumb luck,” she finished. The nagging voice in the back of her head scolded her as she glanced up at the screen. Will chewed on her lip, recalling it all. Before she remembered too much, she clicked on the next slide. a picture of Garret and Abigail, smiling in their hunting uniforms. They looked so normal.
Will cleared her throat. “Garret Jacob Hobbs is dead. The question now is how to stop those his story is going to inspire.” She studied the tainted picture of the man she killed and her foster daughter. Then she clicked on the picture of Cassie Boyle, butchered and mounted. “He’s already got one admirer.”
The class came and went. When it was over, Will was packing her things into her briefcase, eager to see her dogs. The trainees approached her but remained silent. She felt like an endangered animal at a zoo and avoided eye contact with them, glaring inwardly. While tucking a folder inside a compartment, Alana Bloom entered the classroom. Will sensed her immediately, worrying about what might come.
She glanced up at Alana when she reached the desk and couldn’t help but soften at the woman in front of her. “Hi,” she said. Alana smiled comfortably and spoke, “How are you?” Will tilted her head, hiding the fact that Alana’s endearment stirred something in her. “I have no idea,” she awkwardly chuckled. Alana shrugged, “That might change. I don’t intend to ambush you.”
Will became confused, arching her right eyebrow. “Is this an ambush?” she mumbled. The psychiatrist paused, “Ambush is later. Immediately later, soon to now. When Jack arrives, consider yourself ambushed.” Will frowned, eyeing Jack behind Alana, who was guiding the trainees out of the way. “Here’s Jack,” Will joked dryly, knowing her Shining reference wouldn’t be appreciated.
Jack stood next to Alana and asked, “How was class?” Will grabbed her briefcase, hoping Jack would get the hint. “They applauded; it was inappropriate,” she insisted. Brushing past both of them, Jack informed her, “Review board begs to differ. You’re up for a commendation, and they okayed an active return to the field.” Will took this in, feeling both pleased and apprehensive. She stood near them, clearly indicating that Jack or Alana understood the hint.
Alana then asked, “Do you want to go back to the field?” Before Will could even consider it, Jack interrupted her. “I want you to go back in the field, but I told the Board I’m recommending a psych evaluation,” he declared. Will peered over at Alana, who apologized with a look. “Are we starting now?” she wondered. Alana shook her head no. “Session won’t be with me,” she said. Will wanted to pout; she had hoped for Alana.
“Hannibal Lecter might be a better fit. Your relationship isn't as comfortable with Dr. Bloom-""I’m not going to be comfortable with anybody inside my head,” Will cut him off smoothly. Payback. Her gaze hardened, mostly focused on Jack. With the way Dr. Bloom was beholding her, it was impossible to remain angry. She was cooing towards her, “You never killed somebody before, Will. It’s a deadly force encounter. It’s a lot to digest.”
Will took off her glasses and pinched the bridge of her nose. “I used to work homicide. I’ve got a good metabolism.” Jack rolled his eyes, watching Will slide her glasses into her blazer’s pocket. He barked at her, “The reason you currently 'used to' work homicide is you couldn’t stomach pulling the trigger. You just pulled the trigger ten times.” She managed a strained smile, sighing dramatically. “So Psych Eval is not a formality?” she pondered.
Jack’s jaw clenched as he jerked his head slightly. Alana eyed him, praying he wouldn’t lose his temper. He began to explain, “It’s so I can sleep. I asked you to get close to Hobbs, and I need to know you didn’t get too close. How many nights did you spend in Abigail Hobbs’ hospital room?” Will’s eyes narrowed to slits, furrowing her eyebrows. Jack clearly struck a nerve.
“Therapy doesn’t work on me,” she grumbled. “'Cause you won’t let it,” he retorted. Will shrugged, challenging him, “‘Cause I know all the tricks.” Two can play at that game. Jack frowned at her, raising his eyebrows. He could sense her ire at his authority. “Un-learn some tricks,” he suggested. Will gritted her teeth, stifling her frustration. She doubted her headache would ease if she fought with Jack.
Alana spoke up again, “Why not have a conversation with Hannibal? She was there with you and knows what you’ve been through.” Jack turned to her, raising his eyebrows with a pleading expression. “Especially now since you both share a foster daughter,” he reminded her. Will scoffed as she began to walk away from them. She didn’t know how much more she could take. “Oh, how wonderful for us,” she scoffed.
Jack and Alana watched, surprised, as Will slipped away. As she exited her classroom, Jack decided to get the last word. “I need my beauty sleep, Will!”
That evening, Hannibal opened her door to find Will pouting in a chair with her arms crossed. Dr. Lecter thought her new patient resembled a puppy or a five-year-old in the principal’s office who had just gotten into trouble. She smirked at the sight. Will’s hair was flowing down to right above her chest. It had a slight frizz, but Hannibal found it more appealing.
“Good evening, Wilhelmina,” Hannibal greeted. Will gazed upward, her vexation reappearing. She loathed her name, especially when someone sophisticated like Hannibal used it. “Please come in,” Hannibal instructed. Will pushed past her, huffing and scowling. Trying to put distance between them, Will climbed up to the bookshelves. Hannibal noticed this and remained on the lower ground, watching Will like a hawk.
Will paced and continued to pout, clearly wanting to go home. After a while, she saw the doctor pull out a piece of paper. “What’s that?” she gestured towards it. Hannibal held the paper up to Will and smiled. “Your Psychological Evaluation. You’re totally functional and more or less sane. Well done.” She set the paper down on her desk, humming quietly to herself.
Will sneered in bewilderment. “Did you just rubber-stamp me?” As she quickly glanced over at Hannibal’s pretentious novels, she heard a chuckle. “Jack Crawford may lay his weary head to rest knowing he didn’t break you and our conversation can proceed unobstructed by paperwork,” Hannibal joked. Will snapped her head around and studied Hannibal for a moment.
“Jack thinks I need therapy,” she stated. Hannibal cocked her head with a sly smile. “I’m not sure therapy will work on you. Stealing into other minds has taught you how to fortify your own.” Will nodded, beginning to pace once more. “That’s what I said.”
Hannibal sighed, knowing her words might strike a chord with her patient. “What you need is a way out of dark places when Jack sends you there,” she suggested. The simplicity of that struck Will. She throatily murmured, “Last time he sent me into a dark place, I brought something back.”
Hannibal stared at her side profile, noting she had an Apollonian quality. “A surrogate daughter?” she echoed. Will debated arguing the suggestion but then decided not to. “Not because I got too close to Hobbs,” she weakly claimed. They both could hear the truth in her voice.
Hannibal continued to psychoanalyze Will. “You saved Abigail Hobbs’ life. You also orphaned her. It comes with certain emotional obligations, regardless of empathy disorders.” Will had to hand it to the doctor; she was skilled. Nevertheless, she aspired not to have the doctor’s attention twenty-four-seven.
“You were there, saved her life too. Do you feel obligated?” Will asked, shifting the topic. Dr. Lecter suppressed her smugness, recognizing Will’s strategy as a hidden coping mechanism. She inclined her head. “I feel a staggering amount of obligation. I feel responsibility. I’ve fantasized about scenarios where my actions might have allowed a different fate for Abigail Hobbs.”
Will stopped in her tracks, feeling a sense of camaraderie. She didn’t want to tarnish Hannibal’s view of Abigail. “Jack thinks Abigail Hobbs might’ve helped her dad kill those girls,” she informed. Hannibal’s appearance remained unchanged and stoic. A long silence followed Will’s words.
“How does that make you feel?” Hannibal inquired. “How does that make you feel?” Will countered, her attitude rearing its ugly head. Most people would be annoyed by her consistent sass, but Hannibal was charmed. Being a psychiatrist, she understood the importance of Will’s behavior. “I find it vulgar,” she articulated.
Will started pacing again. “Me too.” “And entirely possible,” Hannibal added. Will shook her head. “It’s not what happened.” Dr. Lecter’s purrs rang in Will’s ears. “Jack will ask her when she wakes up or he’ll have one of us ask her.”
Will frowned, continuing to calm her bitterness. Maybe she needed some of the doctor’s kombucha. “Is this therapy or a support group?” she sarcastically quipped. Hannibal smoothly answered, “It’s whatever you need it to be. The mirrors in your mind can reflect the best of yourself and not the worst of someone else.”
Will and Jack slipped under the yellow police tape, entering the crime scene. It was an orchard of corpses. a compelling sight. They walked side by side as Jack spoke. “Lecter gave you the 'all clear.' Maybe therapy does work on you.”
Will maintained her composed demeanor, taking in her surroundings. She licked her lips and tilted her head diagonally. “Therapy is an acquired taste I have yet to acquire, but it sure serves your purpose. I'm back in the field,” she corrected.
Jack glowered at Will, feeling the dismissal of the Psych Eval. He pointed to the arranged bodies above them, continuing to frown. “Local police found more small animal traps in the surrounding woods,” he alerted.
They inched closer to the flowerbeds, the stench overstimulating Will. “They even discovered a thirty-gallon drum of pesticide hidden in a hollow tree with a rusted Radio Flyer wagon,” Jack continued. Will hummed as she peered over everything. “Didn’t want his 'crop' disturbed.”
Jack nodded in agreement. “All that’s missing is a scarecrow.” They eventually approached Beverly, Jimmy, and Brain, who were already working. Will switched her detachment on, tuning out Jimmy’s jocular remarks. She only paid attention to Beverly, questioning occasionally, her stoic expression discomforting them.
Will stared at the corpses in the garden grave. Soon, she was ready for her design. Up ahead, behind the tape, a woman with curly ginger hair was observing the familiar special agent in the field. She recognized that seafoam green jacket and remembered how it scratched against her skin, covered in the scent and fur of dogs.
She hid her camera after taking a few shots of Will before talking to the nearest detective. She posed as a family member of one of the young boys who found the garden and pestered the detective about Will’s methods, eager to delve into the mind of her unknown former flame. As she was about to get more information, Will shot up when a hand gripped her tightly.
She pushed the high-quality letterhead bearing Hannibal Lecter’s Psych Eval back toward the doctor. “This may have been premature,” she said. Hannibal slid it back to Will. “They’ll revoke my rubber stamp,” she noted, raising her eyebrows. Will grimaced while holding her breath. “Maybe they should.”
Hannibal paused before pondering, “What did you see? Out in the field?” Will consider the question, debating how to answer it. She sighed, rubbing her neck. “I might have seen Garret Jacob Hobbs.” Her sarcasm was a front to keep the vulnerability hidden.
Doctor Lecter’s forehead creased. “You might have?” she replied. Will avoided her gaze and continued to rub her skin. “A hallucination, not an association,” she insisted. Hannibal nodded, taking it in. “Where did you see him?” she wondered.
Will gestured toward the carpet with her face scrunched. “In someone else’s grave.” She began to chew on her bottom lip, her bad habit. “Did you tell Jack what you saw?” Hannibal probed. Will kept her face scrunched as she looked up at the doctor. “No,” she mumbled. Will knew it wasn’t the smartest choice and believed Hannibal would scold her for it. Yet she didn’t, simply brushing it off as stress.
“You displaced the victim of another killer’s crime with what could arguably be considered your victim, dear,” Hannibal implied. Will creased her brow, not moving past the nickname. It made her think. She wondered if Hannibal used such affection with all her patients or just with her. Was it a tactic to butter her up? Her frown deepened. Dear? Was she though?
“I don’t consider Hobbs my victim,” she asserted. Hannibal monitored her, noticing her reaction to the endearment. “What do you consider him?” she interrogated. Will shrugged. “Dead.” Hannibal’s face fell slightly, wanting a different answer. “Is it harder imagining the thrill somebody else feels killing now that you’ve done it yourself?” she added. Will nodded. “Yeah.”
When Will’s session was completed, Hannibal had an upcoming patient. Freddie Lounds, the ginger woman from the crime scene earlier. Hannibal quickly identified her. Unwillingly, Freddie knew she had to cave in. She lets Hannibal humiliate her and deletes the recording of Will’s conversation. Hannibal even assessed that the unethical journalist had ulterior motives beyond her blog. She noticed the gleam in Freddie’s eyes when Will Graham was mentioned and thought about subtly bringing it up with Will later.
Meanwhile, a few hours later, Will and Jack Crawford were sprinting into a pharmacy after finding the killer’s workplace. Apparently, he was a floater within his profession. As they rushed, Jack explained everything to Will. They went behind the counter, with Jack holding up his badge to assert his authority. Will stood behind him as the six pharmacists anxiously held up their hands while Jack interrogated them. One pharmacist asked, “What’s happening?” Jack yelled, “One of your customers didn't go to work this morning after picking up a prescription here yesterday, filled by Eldon Stammets! We believe he has abducted her!”
Most of the pharmacists froze, looking at each other in fear. “Eldon was just here,” a second pharmacist stated. Jack signaled the FBI agents, who fanned out. Will then thundered, “Is his car still in the parking lot?” The pharmacist confirmed it was. They rushed out to the parking lot where Will smashed the driver-side window of Eldon’s car with a crowbar, reached in, and popped the trunk. She quickly ran to the trunk, lifting it open to reveal the missing woman buried in soil like the other victims.
There was a fleeting recoil as Will, Jack Crawford, and Brian Zeller were hit with the stench from the compartment. Will recovered quickly, shoveling arms full of dirt. She screamed, “She’s in here!” uncovering the naked woman while the EMS approached. Will stepped away from the trunk as the EMS moved in.
Back in the store, Will and Jack stood loosely behind the counter discussing the case until Jimmy Price interrupted them. “We just checked browser history at Stammets' workstation,” he informed Jack. Will watched as Jack placed his hands on his hips. “Do I want to hear this?” Jack asked. Jimmy shook his head, “No. And yes. But mostly no.”
Jack looked at Eldon’s browser and slammed his palms on the nearest surface. “Son of a bitch!” Will glanced down to see an article written by Freddie Lounds about her. She didn’t need to read it to know it was going to be bad. She knew more about Freddie Lounds than she would ever admit. Since none of the men wanted to read the article, Beverly stepped up to do so. If it weren’t about her, Will would have respected Beverly’s boldness.
To calm herself down, Will visited Abigail Hobbs. Eldon was roaming free, and she felt increasingly useless in the case. Seeing her surrogate daughter seemed like a good idea. She laid down on the couch, drifting off onto the stiff cushions. Soon, the stag from her previous dreams began to recede, becoming her shadow, no matter how much Aspirin or positive thinking she employed to push it away.
She was awoken by Alana’s soothing voice reading aloud. As Will opened her eyes, she realized she was covered with a blanket from Alana. She groaned quietly, rubbing her face. “What are you reading?” she asked. Alana turned around with a grin, eagerly beginning to talk about the book. Will nodded, studying Alana’s pretty face. She could listen to her for hours.
Unfortunately for Will, the conversation soon turned to Freddie’s article. Will dismissed it casually, knowing Freddie would eventually write something. She appreciated Alana’s sympathy, finding it cute. She was cute. At that moment, Freddie Lounds was being attended to by paramedics. The detective she had manipulated at the crime scene had been shot by Eldon Stammets. Freddie watched as the morgue workers took him away while Jack addressed her.
Before Jack could continue, Freddie cut him off. “Where’s Will?” she asked. Jack hesitated, raising his eyebrows. “Repeat yourself, Miss Lounds,” he demanded softly. Freddie licked her lips, “Your killer, Eldon Stammets, wants me to do another article. But he asked me about Will Graham. Where is she?” There was a surprising emotion in Freddie’s voice, a seldom sight to see.
Jack reassured her, “We have an eyewitness to the murder. We don't need Will Graham.” Freddie shook her head violently, “That's not why I'm asking.” Jack studied her, realizing the urgency before turning to a subordinate and yelling, “Find Will Graham!” He snapped back to Freddie, “This was about Will?”
Freddie began to discuss Eldon’s ramblings with her. “What does he want with Will Graham?” Jack cross-examined. Freddie sighed, “Someone who understands him. Will was right.” Jack’s eyes widened. “What did you tell him?” he asked. Freddie didn’t respond immediately, her eyes going distant. “I told him about the Hobbs girl,” she finally said.
“When you shot Eldon Stammets, who was it that you saw?” Hannibal inquired. Twenty-four hours had passed, and Will was still baffled. Not truly baffled; everything just seems foggy. As she stood near Hannibal, she only reminisced about having coffee with Alana in the cafeteria, saying goodbye to her, and then going back upstairs to stay with Abigail. Jack had called her about Eldon, finding him minutes after in a stolen doctor’s coat pushing Abigail’s bed, then finally shooting him in the arm.
“I didn’t see Hobbs,” Will stated.
Hannibal raised her shoulders. “Then it's not Hobbs' ghost that's haunting you, is it? It's the inevitability of there being a man so bad that killing him felt good.”
Will pinched the bridge of her nose, exhaling and scoffing. “Killing Hobbs felt just,” she expressed.
Hannibal affirmed, “Which is why you're here. To prove that the sprig of zest you feel is from saving Abigail, not killing her dad.”
Will ran her hand down her lower face, shaking her head. “I didn't feel a sprig of zest when I shot Eldon Stammets,” she elucidated.
Hannibal arched her brows, watching Will fret over this moment. “You didn't kill Eldon Stammets,” she corrected.
Will shrugged. “I thought about killing him. I'm still not entirely sure that wasn't my intention when pulling the trigger.”
Hannibal eyed Will as she sat down in one of the chairs. She concluded, “If your intention was to kill him, it's because you understand why he did the things he did. It's beautiful in its own way. Giving voice to the unmentionable.”
Will rolled her eyes. Not at Hannibal, but at herself for multiple reasons. “I should have stuck to fixing boat motors in Louisiana,” she lamented.
Hannibal moved and sat down in front of her, mirroring her position. “A boat engine is a machine. A predictable problem, easy to solve. You fail, there's a paddle. Where was your paddle with Hobbs?”
Will clasped her hands together and pointed at Hannibal. “You're supposed to be my paddle.”
Hannibal nodded. “I am, dear.” She queried, “It wasn't the act of killing Hobbs that got you down, was it? Did you really feel so bad because killing him felt so good?”
Will weighed that statement, finally admitting to Hannibal, “I liked killing Hobbs.”
There was a pause. Hannibal knew it. “Killing must feel good to God, too. He does it all the time, and are we not created in his image?”
Will shrugged once more at Hannibal’s belief. She was personally an atheist. “Depends who you ask,” she muttered.
Hannibal perked up slightly, sensing Will’s own beliefs. She remarked, “God's terrific. He dropped a church roof on thirty-four of his worshippers last Wednesday night in Texas, while they sang a hymn.”
Will scrunched up her face. “Did God feel good about that?”
Hannibal smirked to herself. “He felt powerful.”

This is brilliant and you articulate so perfectly why I find that moment so powerful--the weight of all that regret and guilt and love and sorrow in Jacob's face in that one moment of Louis' realization and remembering
It's interesting because in some ways it must be so freeing for Louis to realize that his love for Lestat--which he can't kill and seems to him like evidence that there's something fundamentally bad about him, because how could he still love the person who killed his daughter--isn't tainted, isn't "bad"....but at the same time, it brings all these other feelings and realizations he has to contend with now.
Thank you, anon! And yeah, I totally agree that for Louis there must be this part of it that's freeing too, both in the sense of feeling maybe like he's allowed to love Lestat again, but also in that sense of their family maybe being one again? It's like Lestat says during the trial - theirs is a story of love, not butchery, they weren't three monsters who were always going to destroy each other - Louis' love for Lestat is what saved him back in Rue Royale, and Lestat's love for Louis saved him at the trial, and while neither of them could save their daughter, Lestat wasn't there to kill her and Louis managed, at the very least, to kill most of the vampires who did. There's something there, I think, for Louis to hold to, even if as you said, it opens the door to a whole lot of other things too.
#it's one of the reasons i love that last bit with his meditation room#hanging the painting of paul and claudia's dress is more than just letting himself remember them and feel the loss of them#it's like this ability to accept that he had a family who he loved and loved him back#that he deserved that and will deserve it again#instead of the isolation and drifting of life with armand#who he so clearly never sees as his family#loustat asks#louis asks#iwtv 2.08#iwtv asks

Isaac Au yay!!!
I still haven't translated the character profiles and there are a lot of gaps/incompletions so I will probably add on as I get ideas
(idk if anyone did smth like this if someone did I will combust ksabbsfökb)
Au under the cut
For Isaac, Magdalene, Cain, Judas, Eve, Lazarus, Samson, Bethany, Jacob & Esau (the characters weren’t born in that place) : The characters wake up in the basebent floor 1. If they want to get out, they need to finish Final Ending. Get the Polaroid or the Negative or find the faded polaroid, go through the strange door, ascend to home, defeat dogma and the beast and they will die and be reborn in their own worlds without sin.
For Blue Baby, Azazel, Eden, Lost, Lilith, Keeper, Apollyon, and forgotten (the characters existing in that place): They were existing in the basement, so if they complete the final ending, they reborn into their past lives (Blue baby, lost, Forgotten). I haven’t decided what happems to the others yet :/
When someone dies or completes an ending that isn’t Final Ending they get respawned into the first floor without their items (other than their original ones). If they die mid run they barely remember anything about the monsters/items. But if they finish a run they vividly remember what the monsters/items were and they get a small hint for the Final Ending
But, if someone dies or completes the wrong ending they get a little corrupted. And if this happens too much they become their tainted vesions. To get their normal versions back they need to find the red key/cracked key and open the closet (the opposite of what happens in the game). If they complete the Final Ending without freeing their normal versions they get reborn into their original world and timeline as their tainted versions.
This was a hell to translate and rewrite

in the big ol google doc, when esau dies, jacob is completely distraught. how does he try to cope? like i feel like hair pulling as an unhealthy coping mechanism for jacob. in the game, tainted jacob has a bald spot. and jacob seems the kinda guy to pull on his hair until it comes out when under a lotta stress. also, how does laz try to help? laz is shown to be abit more of less sympathetic person.
Another thing, what is Esau after he comes back to haunt jacob? A spirit trying to remind Jacob of his sins, or was it jacobs negative emotions and thoughts that made esau manifest as he is?
Lastly, how does both Jacob and Lazarus deal with esau?
Someone has read that monster of a Google doc????? Waow………
Anyway I feel like Jacob would be super depressed. I like the idea of him pulling out his hair in distress, but also consider: stress so big it just falls out. Lazarus brushes his hair and it just falls out in clumps… Speaking of which, yes, Lazarus is a bit of an ass, he’s not a bad person and Jacob is still his best friend (and future partner). It’s kinda sad but I envisioned Esau’s death as a huge growth opportunity for both of them, Jacob will learn to live as his own person without Esau and Lazarus will grow to be more responsible and less of a prick. He’ll finally realise how much Jacob means to him and will have to confront the fact that he’s not always been the best of friends to him (and Samson too, especially Samson, but that’s for another time) so he’ll try to make up for it.
I guess Lazarus would try and take over for Jacob. Like, taking care of him, making him food, making sure he eats and stuff… Jacob is also disabled, and Esau had been helping him in day-to-day life for the longest time, so Jacob is not only missing a brother but also a caretaker. Lazarus would immediately go to his house and take it from there, keeping tidy, making food etc. etc. he wouldn’t be alone of course, Bethany, Samson and even Eve will gladly stop by to help and make Jacob feel less alone… but also the fact that Jacob blames himself for his brother’s death will not make things easier for them. I feel like all my characters need therapy ngl. Maybe Samson can help him find a therapist…
As for Dark Esau… it’s Esau. He’s back. Basically the main idea was that Esau, in his first life, made some sort of deal with the devil to get revenge on his brother for everything he did to him (the birthright, the blessing etc.) but Jacob always managed to die before him, or before Esau gained his memories back, so he could never truly get revenge until now. This idea is still a bit fuzzy tho, don’t treat it like gospel. I also liked the idea that Esau’s rage is what constantly brought him back to life over and over, he just couldn’t let go. And not only because of Jacob! Esau’s grudge is also directed towards Isaac!!! Yes, Jacob stole his birthright but Isaac also refused to give him his blessing (and for a very stupid reason too!). And probably towards Rebekah too, since she was the one who originally pitted them against eachother… what I’m trying to say is that Esau has a huge grudge against his whole family, and nobody is safe.
When Esau started manifesting it was for Jacob only, and the man really thought he was going insane since nobody but him seemed to be able to see him. Lazarus was skeptical at first, but he’s dealt with enough supernatural bullshit (like being on a first name basis with the literal angel of death, knowing that demons exist etc. etc.) so while he thinks Jacob is only having a mental breakdown, but he’s still open to the possibility of him being actually haunted by his brother.
As for resolving the situation… eeeeeeh that’s still a bit fuzzy tbh. Like my main idea was that this situation would progressively escalate until Lazarus and Jacob had to find help with Judas and the others (because Apollyon is real powerful, Azazel is a demon and he might help, even Eden could chip in and lend a hand) but THEN Bethany would explode because of Dogma, and even Esau can’t bear to see someone he loved so much in so much pain, and I had this idea he would try and fight Dogma to save her and in doing so his should would be cleansed and ascend to heaven? It’s still a bit fuzzy, but I also think Isaac and Rebekah apologising could help… like it wouldn’t really do anything for Esau, but maybe it could help him let go of his anger and move on. Hell you know what? I’ll throw in Cain too, if someone knows what it’s like to kill your own brother and why it’s a bad thing it’s him! And his whole arc is about the importance of letting go and not let the past consume you etc. etc. it’s too perfect, he can help the flaming ghost. I also know how to shove it in the action: Dark Esau has completely reverted to his old memories and personality, which means he can only speak ancient Hebrew, like in Bible times. And Cain is the only one who can understand him! And then thanks to Cain he could unlock his most recent memories and realise he’s being stupid.
#godddd this was so long but I had a lot of fun answering this ask heheeeee thank u#I’ll eventually update the doc once I have the energy but damn this was enlightening#ask tag#lore post

I know there has been a lot of discussion about how the Quarry characters are described, but do you think they would describe themselves any differently?
I'm so sorry Kat, I wanted to take some time to think about this and then completely forgot it was in my ask box!
This is SUCH an interesting question with lots to consider. I think this depends somewhat on who they're describing themselves to, but let's imagine it's an honest self-assessment and not, like, trying to look good on a job cover letter or college entrance essay or something like that.
Jacob - This one's tough for me because Jacob seems to sometimes believe in his own hype, but he can also see himself as kind of a loser? Like, he prances up in his undies and tells everyone "I'm here to save you!" 😂 But he also mopes and cries and has a tough time even if we don't get the 'I'm not alive, I'm nothing' sad infected boy. I think Jacob sees himself as a leader even if others don't (and some do, I mean, look at Nick). I think he'd say he's brave (and he can be! he runs off in the dark after Abi screams, for example), optimistic, fun-loving, and loyal. He might not be aware of how impulsive his actions are, though he also might be after the extra night he orchestrated goes as badly as it does.
Emma - Emma causes a lot of strife for others in this game for someone who I genuinely think means well most of the time. She's trying to manipulate her friends in ways that she believes will be good for them, but not everyone welcomes her interventions. She has a flair for the dramatic and I feel like she knows that about herself and knows that she's performing a lot of the time. I think Emma would see herself as pragmatic, goal-oriented, charming, and entertaining.
Abi - Abi's a sweet, sensitive type and she seems to know herself pretty well. She's a rule-follower and a peacemaker and while she feels awkward sometimes, I think Abi has a way of putting others at ease. I think she'd describe herself as creative, empathetic, and conscientious, but she'd also admit to being a little timid and prone to over-thinking at times.
Ryan - Ryan also sees himself as a leader, even if he sometimes has trouble getting other people on board with that view. I don't think he sees himself as a brooding loaner, though he comes off that way, but he knows he's introverted and maybe he'd call himself introspective instead. Ryan would probably see himself as humble, dependable, strong-willed, and authentic. He knows he doesn't always come across as confident, but he does stick to his guns.
Kaitlyn - To me, Kaitlyn has the least emotional development of any of the characters, and while I love what we do see of her so much, I wish we saw more of what makes her tick. Kaitlyn's a badass and she knows it, but we see glimpses of a softer side to her with Abi and Dylan that imply she's got more depth to her than she lets on. I think she'd think of herself as self-assured, level-headed, sarcastic, and (sometimes brutally) honest.
Dylan - Dylan refers to his 'blasé' persona as a 'stylish nihilist' in the cut content, but I'm not sure he totally understands what that word means. Because while Dylan can be paranoid and even a little cynical, he's also incredibly hopeful and resilient over the course of the game. I think his self-description might change a lot depending on when you ask him and what path his character takes. But as far as his core personality, I think he'd see himself as intelligent, open-minded, funny (I don't think his humor is an act, I think he just plays up that side more when he's uncomfortable), and intuitive. He's also well aware of his own insecurities. Would he admit to being a hopeless romantic too? He'd probably prefer not to, but I think he knows.
Nick - We get so little of Nick, and what we do get can be tainted a bit by the way the werewolf infection affects him, but I think Nick is very candid about the fact that he can be a bit of a follower when he's around stronger personalities. He knows he has a lot of potential, but he's not sure what he wants to do in the future. I think he'd describe himself as respectful (and he is, until the whole infection thing happens), caring, and sociable, but also unfocused or maybe even directionless.
Laura - Laura's progression over the course of the game feels kind of like if Leslie Knope became a monster-hunting vigilante. Laura seems kind of type-A and perfectionistic, like she has a whole bunch of color-coded binders at home. But she also seems to think that just because she wants something to happen (like Max going to the same grad school as her, or them getting to come to camp a night early), that it will. I think she also knows herself pretty well. Laura would say she's self-assured, ambitious, steadfast, and resilient. She might not go so far as to say headstrong, but she probably knows.
Max - Lovable Max, so silly and so sweet, but he can be a touch gloomy and pessimistic too, especially when he's been kidnapped and is dealing with a mysterious supernatural infection (hard to blame him there). Max would describe himself as easygoing (pre-canon, at least), supportive, and friendly and I think he'd absolutely also cop to being sensitive and a bit meek. He does not mind being the 'malewife' to his 'girlboss' partner at all.
