No, you are uncreative. They have different history and personalities each time which would change the relationship dynamic even in the scenario of always being romantic.

It feels like what people are saying is "romance is always the same" which isn't true. Is every friendship the exact same? No

grips. with the announcement of echoes of wisdom do you think they'll introduce the idea that there's been more zeldas in the hero role throughout the history of hyrule? there's more heroes than there are games. the existance of the first hero, the hero of men, and the hero of the first calamity all serve to prove this. have there been more zeldas put in the role of the hero, having to save hyrule? having to save link? not necessarily because he himself was the hero originally and got captured, but did circumstances make it so he was never going to be the hero to begin with?

im thinking about possession aftereffects that linebeck experiences immediately after the events of phantom hourglass, so here are bullet points i have down for my own ideas

he’s out cold for roughly five days after the fight. he’s conscious for a bit after being freed, but it doesn’t take long for him to collapse once he’s transported back to the great sea. link finds him when he reaches his ship to see him again (he takes a lifeboat or w/e from tetras ship its a whole thing and not the point) and ends up having to take care of him for those five-ish days.

while he’s out cold, he develops a bad fever, and has a good few physical injures from being possessed; all of his wounds from being possessed manifest as burns, the worst wounds bring cauterized and mostly closed, while smaller ones are still open wounds. the largest wound is a large burn covering most of his back, which is cauterized by the time he passes out, and then there are smaller, still open burns on his upper arms and legs. (the smaller wounds are manageable by link when he follows some medical instructions, [there are some medical books on the ship] the larger one is also manageable, but takes a lot longer to properly heal).

(link asks tetra and her crew to stick around for a while to keep linebeck stabilized while he’s unconscious. when linebeck wakes up, tetra and her crew are good to leave because then linebeck can better report what’s going on, and knows how to handle injuries).

linebeck’s fever persists after he wakes up, and he experiences… pretty much every fever symptom, with especially bad chills and full-body aches. the aches are really bad for the first few days after he wakes up, he’s extremely physically weak and shaky for a while, too. that weakness and shakiness get better with time, but he doesnt go entirely back to normal without actually moving around and doing things to build that strength back up.

he’s delirious and struggles to stay awake for those first few conscious days, too, which makes that weakness and shakiness worse; he struggles to eat and drink water, and struggles to string together thoughts or words to talk to link, and both of them figure out pretty quickly that they’ll have to wait a bit longer before so much as an attempt to coax him out of bed can be made.

beyond existing problems with food, linebeck struggles to keep anything down while he recovers, and becomes ill pretty much every time after he eats anything, so a bucket is kept near his bed. with water, he obviously needs to drink a lot of it considering that he’s feverish, injured, and vomiting frequently, but while he’s sick he has a bit of an irrational fear of water (along with an irrational fear of air and the wind, which makes him hesitant to go outside while he’s sick).

he’s generally pretty irritable, which isn’t particularly new, but it makes him prone to refusing help with certain things. he’s less irritable when tired and just resting. he’s also especially nervous, and despite the overall fatigue, he struggles to sleep for very long while he’s sick, and as said before, is often delirious and even confused when things are bad.

along with the other difficulties eating, linebeck has a hard time swallowing for a bit, and salivates a lot more than normal while he’s sick. he is soooo fucking dehydrated the whole time and that really doesn’t help.

while the weakness and shakiness stays for the entire time he’s sick and even a bit afterwards, for the first few days after he wakes up he’s stiff and also experiences some muscle spasms and numbness in his limbs, and has a hard time keeping his balance the first few times he gets out of bed.

once the sickness clears up fully, linebeck has to still be careful with the scar on his back; it’s sensitive to touch for a while and hurts when exposed to the sun or air for too long and when he stretches his back too far, but eventually just reaches the point where it’s a bit sensitive but is otherwise just a large scar.

obviously he’s also going through the wringer in an emotional and mental illness sense too but those would require a whole new bullet point list.

I'm curious now about your ideas for the post WW/PH AU where Linebeck meets Link's family 👀

Ok, so I will stress that I'm not planning to create an entire AU on this idea; this is just stuff I came up with as a kid (I was about 9 or 10 at the time).

On the surface, there wasn't really much to it. Just ideas on how the characters would interact with each other and who would be the most fun to team up ^^.

(my favourite was Linebeck and Aryll, because the former would act as the reluctant teacher/uncle figure who tries not to care, but is secretly won over by the charm of this little kid. Meanwhile Aryll is much more chipper and more capable than Linebeck claims he is - see his character in PH - so trying to imagine how these two would navigate out of certain situations together was always funny to me 🤭)

However, there is another idea I had back then - an idea that I now realise was an AU before I even knew what an AU was! 😆

Do you any of you remember a show called W.I.T.C.H? I won't go too much into the plot (because there's a lot to go over!) but for those who don't know, essentially it's about five friends (all teen girls) who are able to be granted magical girl powers thanks to a mystical amulet. Four of the five girls get elemental powers respectively - air, water, fire, earth - while the fifth girl becomes the "leader" (later energy).

At the time I was playing WW and PH, I also got very interested in this show. And for some reason my dumb kid brain thought to just combine both these two things into - what I thought was - a pretty cool idea!

- So Link would be "energy" (Will). - Medli would be "earth" (Cornelia) - since she is sage of the Earth Temple. - Makar would be "wind" (Hay Lin) - since he is sage of the Wind Temple. - Aryll would be "water" (Irma) - purely due to her affiliation with anything connected to the ocean - like seagulls. - And Tetra would be "fire" (Taranee) - honestly just because she has a fiery personality and there was no other character left!

Meanwhile Linebeck would be like the "Caleb" (a recurring non magic character from the show) who reluctantly gets dragged along on the adventures 🤭.

Also Link's Grandma is there too, I guess. She acts as the role of Hay Lin's grandma from the show, and explains to Link and his friends about the powers they have been bestowed.

The idea I have for Tetra is that she’s the youngest of many sisters (all named Zelda but going by their middle names to distinguish them). Out of her sisters she’s the furthest from the traditional “Zelda from the stories” figure, so when it was revealed that she was the holder of the Princess’s spirit, there were mixed reactions among her family.

Tetra has 3 older sisters. The eldest sister is the more traditional Zelda type, and has worked all her life to unlock the powers she was supposed to have. When it was discovered that Tetra was the one with those powers, it quickly spawned a sort of feud between the two spawning from jealousy (on her end) and frustration (mostly on Tetra’s end).

The second eldest gets overlooked literally all the time. She’s not as charismatic and extroverted as the eldest, not as cheerful and fun as the second youngest, and she’s far from the brash and confident sort that Tetra is. On one hand, she kinda likes going unnoticed. On the other hand, getting forgotten by everyone else is frustrating. She knows all sorts of gossip and is always eager to share with Tetra, who tells stories of the fights she gets into in return.

The second youngest is a ditzy and cheerful girl. She tries her best to be supportive of her little sister, but when faced with any sort of dirt, bugs, or combat she gets spooked. She’s the one who convinced their father to get Tetra a fancy suit instead of forcing her into a dress all the time.

At first Tetra didn’t like Wind much. Sure, he helped rescue her, but when he’d shown up she was already halfway through rescuing herself. Besides, he’s like two years younger than her; being an (almost) 12-year-old rescued by a 9-year-old is ridiculously embarrassing!

Over time though, the two grew to be as thick as thieves. The best part is that Wind is able and willing to put up the facade of a refined gentleman hero whenever her parents are around, and thanks to how much he’s saved her and Hyrule as a whole, they trust her with him. Naturally they run off to get into shenanigans together. If asked about Tetra’s whereabouts by anyone in the castle (except Tetra’s younger two sisters, he trusts them not to spill), he’ll cover for her and insist she was with him even if he has no idea what the hell she’s doing. He’s not stupid though, and if Tetra’s missing he’ll go do his own investigation. At this point he’s (reasonably) convinced that any little oddity in his day to day life could be the start of another adventure.

Anyway, one of the big adventures Tetra played a large part in was Hytopia. She convinced her father to let her go, since “my dear hero Link works so hard and I wanted to do something nice for his birthday! Besides, we’d get to visit Princess Styla and get wonderful outfits for the upcoming ball, wouldn’t that be great?” and it absolutely worked. She did have to bring her older sister (the second youngest, thankfully not the eldest), but still. It was great! A vacation for her, her sister, Wind, and his family.

It turned into an adventure right away, but her sister promised not to tell so long as she didn’t get hurt too badly. With that, Wind, Tetra, and Ravi set out to save Hytopia together! It was honestly really fun, even with the fighting (though Ravi was the only one who seemed opposed to the idea of fighting, mostly because he’s the cowardly sort). They left him on ranged attack duty and they got up close and personal with their enemies. They also got to dress up in fun outfits (Tetra avoiding all the dresses, Ravi preferring said dresses, and Wind not caring either way) while they fought, which was an absolute plus.

Maybe… maybe fandom needs more romance adjacent content. Like… I’m tired of couples. I want unrequited crush but it’s just normal and not throwing up flowers. I want exes to besties or even worsties. I want “we kissed once and decided never to do that again and moved on with it”. I want break ups and unrequited love that isn’t treated like failure. I need more of this.
