just wanted to say oh god i LOVE the way you draw faces so much… so diverse and the eyes and noses are sooo pretty

second i wanted to say i LOVE your bordered background for each frame, they add so much and are so pretty. specifically, i also really love the golden leaves that crawl across the page when both zeldas are looking at and speaking to each other. to me it’s almost like a sound effect? like music from a bell or chime that plays kind of soft or almost eerily/offputting, especially when sksw zelda being hylia is brought up

Omg this is everything I wanted the girls are RESENTINGGGGG!!! Once I saw how rocky loft and botw Zelda were I thought about skord Zelda meeting her!! The glare from skord Zelda after getting told loft said her and Hylia are one in the same ohhh loft is in for it a bit too lol

this scene has been on the books almost since the beginning of the comic and it took 3 years and 160 pages of other stuff to get here LMAOOO

anyway. welcome to the real plot of bonus links. the people yearn for skswd second quest and the people is me. A plot B plot and a mysterious C plot. I've still got a few more curveballs to throw but we're close to having all my cards finally on the table lol

this is also the point at which the overambitious nature of this comic rlly becomes apparent 😂 im doing my best 🫡 hopefully it does not devolve into nonsense

I will say skelda will not be meeting every single zelda BUT we have not seen the last of her after this interlude rest assured

first off. this is probably an unsafe welding setup but SHHHH don't worry about it. also no part of AOC is canon to me BUT i was thinking that after fixing Beetle Zelda might be like hey i could Also be building an egg that is a friend and the Terrako design was right there. we are ignoring the egg's time travel abilities until further notice. sorry

i had this idea of like. these vines that vaguely represent the concept of Hylia and the role of Zelda in general kind of sneaking around the page and annoying botw zelda while she's trying to be civil until she's finally like. actually I know what u are. so i have them curling around her and encroaching at various points

THE BEEF. the beef potential here is so so good i could not pass up an opportunity to get these two in a room together. what if u were botw zelda and god (who you hate) showed up at ur doorstep and was like hey can u help me track down my boyfriend (who you also have beef with) and u have to make her tea so u don't crash out. RAHHHHHHH we're gonna get into it more in the second half of this conversation but BOTW Zelda and Hylia's complete lack of relationship makes me SICK!!!

anyway on that note we know from BOTW that when Zelda rlly dislikes someone she is. not very good at hiding it. she tried lol

loft and skelda award for saying the absolute worst thing they possibly could to botw zelda without having any of the context they'd need to avoid it lol oh we have the same power. We Have The Same Power Huh. in skord zelda's defense she just got here and was excited to share in the camaraderie of what Being A Zelda means. things were supposed to have worked out better these last many thousands of years lol

also also. same stained glass/tile texture from prologue where Zelda and Loft have a similar argument about goddess stuff. old art jumpscare

hehehehe i was determined to make this overlapping panel effect thing work. hylia design hints while I work on actually finalizing it lmao. EXTREMELY excited to get more into skord zelda's character. also u can tell i got rlly tired of drawing the vines by the end of this.

i feel like i should have more to say but im blanking now. if i think of more later ill come back. anyway im REALLY REALLY excited for the rest of this interlude and i desperately hope i can finish it before this godforsaken year ends lmao

is Slate’s Zelda going grey? On her left side, it seems like an intentional design choice but it could also just be the lighting lol. If it is, im sure it’s from all The Bullshit and also the fact that she is legally old LMAO but I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Second, do you have names for the different Zeldas? Calling them Loft or Slate's Zelda feels a bit clunky

u know ppl have been asking me this for years and I’ve been putting it off for just as long bc I just have not been able to come up with any nicknames that feel right 😩 I’ve mostly just kept to using the game acronyms as modifiers. some of them have established (in the comic canon I mean lol) middle names like TP (Celestia) and HW (Duellona) Zelda so maybe that’s a route to go if I think of one for all of them, but that’s maybe a little too unrecognizable at a glance. Ppl have also taken to just calling them “skelda” and “botwelda” lolol.

I will force myself to come to some conclusions on this soon bc it’s definitely going to become more necessary now that we’ve reached this part of the story

Hey! :D First I wanted to say: congrats on finishing chapter 2! This comic is so good and beautiful- truly a delight to read!!

I have some questions about War. So he's from Hyrule Warriors alright, so that means he has an understanding of Ganondorf, the Twilight Realm, has actually met Fi (that's gonna be juicy when War and Loft meet) and stuff... That's the base game story. But did the extra storyarc -from i believe the definitive edition?- involving Wind Waker characters happened to War? have he, Tetra and Wake already met?

(i have no idea if this was ever asked or talked about before, hope it's not a repeat!)

hi! okay so I’m gonna be so real here, out of all the links War is probably my most oc-ified. I’m doing something very specific and non canon-compliant with him, which involves mostly pulling what is useful to me from HW canon (and there actually is a lot that is very useful to me somehow) and throwing out everything else 😂 HW is an extremely silly game that I am for the purposes of this comic taking way WAY too seriously.

anyway on that note it’s actually Spirit who ends up in the war of ages instead of Wake. full disclosure, the idea for this originally came from @wutheringmights (hi Frankie I hope it’s ok to tag u!!!) who opened my eyes to the potential of both Spirit in the war of ages and hw link being something like an anti-link. I decided to make my life harder by including time loop shenanigans: Spirit is younger than War for the events of bonus links, and older than him during the war of ages. There’s a couple reasons I did this tho. 1) I didn’t really want the hw stuff to be part of Wake’s story. The timing didn’t work well. 2) I didn’t really want Wake to be part of War’s either. for selfish reasons his story is in part about how having mentor/trusted adults who deep down hate ur guts will mess you up. Wake is too good at being a big brother to make that happen 😂 Spirit is not cut out for handling this, so he’s the man for the job. Maybe there’s an au somewhere where it Was wake instead and all of this turns out a little better lol. Anyway Tetra can’t have been there for similar reasons.

All I can say for sure is that besides Spirit and Mask, Ravio and Midna were also there for at least parts of the war of ages. I don’t like including Marin specifically bc it confirms whether or not she truly existed, which is not rlly something I’m interested in confirming one way or the other for the purposes of the comic. Possibly some other figures like Ruto and Darunia show up as well but don’t quote me on that. I think to the extent that War has met and interacted with Fi, it plays out differently than the game. I want him to have interacted w Ghirahim so badly but I haven’t figured out how to make it make sense yet 😂

tldr this is the point at which I am really TRULY going off the rails from canon and just writing whatever i want. sorry <3 we’ll be getting to all this in the comic soon and hopefully ppl stick around thru it lol

IT'S DONE RAHHHHHH ITS FINALLY DONE!!!!!!! I hope you all have enjoyed this chapter but I am REALLY excited to move on to what's next!!!!! i have been waiting literal years to get here,,,,

starting off with a few things: these frames are the same design from pt. 9, just damaged now. it's also uh. literally the same drawings KJSNFKJG listen sometimes I just have to make things easier on myself. also convenient crack through the hero of time's right eye >:-)

okay so the hero of time lore gives me a bit of a headache. let it be known that I understand in wolf's timeline, the events of OOT technically never happened. He knows the "hero of time" moniker bc he's met him, and i could've SWORN that name is mentioned if not somewhere in TP then in the TP manga. suspend ur disbelief for me lol

Anyway the idea is basically that post-game Wolf has done some digging to track down the person the Hero's Shade was when he was alive. I like to imagine he had some kind of bargain with Zelda where if he agreed to come to certain events she'd let him dig around in what survived of the archives after lol. I actually got stuck on this panel for a while trying to think of some other imagery that got this idea across without being so,,,idk on the nose? but i couldn't think of anything so i went with this HAHA. Even if Mask wasn't technically the "hero" in this timeline, I think he still ended up being a prominent figure, and some documentation of him would exist. An unfinished portrait, a text about the history of the royal guard, military records, correspondence between him and the castle, etc.

ALSO ALSO. how do they know they're talking about the same hero of time? well, they don't. they're making an educated guess lol. obviously whoever made this statue of the Hero of Time couldn't make it look exactly like him, but I feel like Wolf has noticed enough similarities between depictions to be like. hey wait a second

wake is trying to give a pep talk here like "come on guys, going on adventures is what we do!!" meanwhile Wolf and Loft are both like. yeah i guess leaving our loved ones behind with little notice to go on dangerous missions we may never return from IS what we do.....

speaking of which Loft is maybe technically being a little bit of a hypocrite here but I really think he's just trying to make sure Wake doesn't make the same mistake he did lol. he's feeling guilty

one of many things I really regret abt this chapter is not having Tetra and Loft have a conversation similar to the one he and BOTW Zelda have. I feel like Tetra's experience of getting to grow up outside of the pressure of the royal family or her role and then basically having it forced on her during the events of WW would be very valuable for him to hear. I had so many things I was trying to juggle this chapter and somehow that just slipped through the cracks 😭 im sorry tetra.

AT LAST!!! ANNA FROM FROZEN!!! when all that was going down a few weeks ago i was like GUYS GUYS WAIT. HE'S ALMOST HERE. does this mean I have to get a new icon now

in case its not clear (and it probably isn't) he's in the ALTTP lost woods!

okay so some of you may have noticed this, but up until now we've basically been following the thread of mainline games, starting where the timeline merged and working our way back to where it split in OOT. ALTTP is technically part of that, as the timeline where the Hero of Time dies. I have them all connected through the Lost Woods. The pitch for this was basically "wouldn't it be so fucking funny if Mage could've joined the story way earlier but didn't bc he was the only one with enough sense and also enough gall to just throw something through it." and then I couldn't NOT do that

so on that note, this is the BOTW lost woods. If you look closely, you can see Wolf in the distance.

I wanted to do something to establish him as a magic user! he could have just pulled these out of his bag but where's the fun in that. you might also notice that he's not wet because the rain isn't actually hitting him

Given Wake’s shift towards awe when he was like, “might explain where he went though,” I’m under the impression that potentially meeting the Hero Of Time is a major factor in why he ultimately decides to leave??? If so meeting Mask is gonna be such a funny case of ‘dang I thought you’d be taller’ 🤭
