In a modern universe, Cersei Lannister would get sent to one of those fancy private rehabs/psych hospitals (she doesn't want to go but Jaime booked her in after her latest breakdown and convinces her that actually it's super trendy these days for rich white women to go on "mental health retreats") and immediately tries to convince her psych team that she's totally fine and actually doesn't need to be here only to promptly be diagnosed with Bipolar and put on an ungodly amount of Seroquel.

Every single meeting she's forced to attend, she sits in her chair huffing up a storm while everyone else speaks, and when it's her turn goes on a fifteen minute rant alternating between insisting that everything wrong with her isn't actually her fault, insulting everyone else at the meeting because can't BELIEVE people actually fall for this psychobabble therapy nonsense, and sobbing uncontrollably over how her life has turned out.

After she's done she goes back to ignoring everyone.

Would absolutely look down on the people in there for narcotic addictions despite the fact that she's spent roughly the equivalent of the GDP of a small country on cocaine over the years.

Also freely admits to her therapist to having had an incestuous relationship with Jaime during childhood and adolescence but insists it doesn't matter anymore because they "grew out of it" after Jaime went to military school and she realised it would've been social suicide for her modelling career if anyone got photos of them together while she was dating various other celebrity guys, and remains completely oblivious to the ongoing emotional incest and codependency that's running through her entire family.

She emphatically insists that the only problem with Tywin's parenting was that he didn't send Tyrion away at birth and that he got Jaime a spot at Harvard Business School even though he didn't actually WANT to go and SHE did.

If this sounds like I'm bashing her, I promise I'm not. These are simply things I know to be true.

in my venture of (gasp) writing that post canon jb au i added this part where jaime is watching brienne down from his window and he’s just musing abt stuff while he watches her spar (beat up) pod but when brienne looks up at jaime she thinks he’s watching the sea and he must’ve missed the rock a lot!!! and then another part where jaime thinking that he looks like a proper old man now bc his hair is greying and he has to walk around with a cane bc his leg got injured from the war vs brienne finds that the weather in the rock seems to agree with jaime’s complexion bc he looks like he’s glowing again and the greyness underneath his eyes are disappearing and he’s smiling in a more relaxed manner as well. like she thinks he’s looking good! but she admits it as if she’s stating a fact lmfao

Was having thoughts about blue beetle since I’m about to make my brother watch it sometime this week, and just had a Thought. Thinking about Jaiden [Aidesse]. Have some assorted headcanons, thoughts, etc. there is no rhyme or reason. Just them 🫶🫶🫶

Aiden’s perpetually cold wears so many layers to combat this. Fortunately, Jaime’s a cuddler and a good one at that! She’s nice and warm and he’s touch-starved and freezing. It’s a match made in the Aether.

They’re the “mentally ill, take care of themselves because of each other” couple. Though that started when they were just friends. They went to lunch every Thursday and had a good venting session. Additionally, when Aiden stayed at the Order Hall for the first several months he was in Beacon Town, he often helped Jaime calm down from nightmares. They’d just talk. It was one of these times when he apologized for, well, everything. When he wanted to move out, it was Jaime that helped him find his new apartment. Aiden would call it “pulling strings”. He’s grateful for her help but hates how much she’s gone out of her way to help him. He tries to pay her back in anyway he can. That often is through helping her where he can and listening to her vent. He finds it strange she comes to him so often. Trusts him with these vulnerabilities. He trusts her with his too though.

They’re Thursday lunch never stopped. It just transformed into their weekly date once they were official. Sometimes it’s more romantic other times it’s the same as it always was.

PDA central baby! They’re hand holders at heart and can be seen canoodling and cuddling at least once everything evens out. Aiden’s not quite a fave partner among Jaime’s friends. They’re a lot more open when they realize how in love and happy Jaime is. And she is very in love btw. They both are.

Aiden has a hard time saying no to Jaime. She pulls those puppy dog eyes and he’s putty in her hands.

Jaime’s like an instant balm to Aiden’s white hot temper. She sets a hand on his shoulder, knee or hand and he forgets whatever had him fuming and frustrated.

Aiden likes to lay his head in Jaime’s lap and let her run her fingers through his hair. Maybe share a few kissies. Don’t EVER interrupt when that’s happening. He’ll never forgive you. That’s they’re couch time.

Jaime’s never without a warm meal. Aiden’s her certified househusband and loves cooking meals for them. He can’t bake though, never gets it right. That’s fine by Jaime. She’s never without baked goods thanks to Lukas.

Aiden has a star projector he likes to turn on when he’s having a horrible day. Jaime likes to cuddle up with him and watch it. He’s taught her a ton about the stars and planets. (I believe in astronomy nerd Aiden supremacy) Stargazing is a number one date night activity, only reading together comes close as a rival.

Aiden’s a whiz at braiding hair and loves helping Jaime braid hers. He’s learned as best as he could about handling curly hair properly. She loves him to bits for it.

Jaime often has a stiff neck and shoulders thanks to sitting in her office chair. Aiden’s never one to not offer her a massage. (He loves his wife and would kill for her but she’s against murder so he’ll just kill her aches and pains)

i wish jaime’s arc was never this heavily associated with the word redemption bc every single discussion about him revolves around that word and the baggage people have with it. i know george repeatedly used it when it concerns him, but i obv do not think that means his arc is as simple as going from bad to good in a linear fashion. but it is about transformation imo. if it was just about a perspective shift/recontextualization then why would george make him lose the thing that defined him in every way and allowed him to detach himself from everything? it is also not an elaborate trick and a subversion of “redemption arcs”, that is also a reductive and cynical read of it to me. his nuances are never discussed beyond “bad guy is good guy now” or “guy is tricking u he is still stagnant.” imo his motivations evolve, his relationship with the self evolves, his relationship with abstract concepts he craves such as honor, love & knighthood evolves, he evolves: he is one of the characters that is in constant motion, he is always on a journey, he is rarely at a standstill after he leaves the dungeon in acok. it makes me so sad that nothing new is said about him atp other than fandom going in circles about this one word, especially bc i think he is at a key transitional point again right now. i think his arc is about tearing down the “brave golden knight” image in every way until you are left with nothing but harsh reality and a broken cripple. it is tearing apart facades & personas. and then it is the story of what one can make of oneself then. it is about grueling moral dilemmas and the making of choices. and then finally it is about the idea of confrontation for someone who has always been incredibly afraid of it and repeatedly chose to run away inside instead. george deliberately made it so he can no longer do that. that must lead somewhere.
