unlike many people, i think that scene is so beautiful and meaningful. i wanna talk about this scene from vi’s perspective, and more specifically about touch and her past with physical violence.
all she's ever known is pain, violence and physical abuse. it's how she copes and what she'd had to live with her whole life: since she was a child, to protect powder and the others, being in prison for 7 years and getting beat up, using her fists in every fight, getting punched by cait, then jinx (literally in the scene before this one) becoming a pit fighter and using all she knows to cope with any emotion she has
Tumblr media
Vi needed, deserved that closeness, that intimacy, a touch that isnt a violent one, a form of trust and warmth that she has never gotten, especially after everything physically abusive that she went through until now, she's finally allowed and able to feel loved and cared for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and cait didn't apologize for hurting vi the way that she did, but i believe that scene was a step towards forgiveness and redemption. it's about second chances and saving their relationship from the curse it was in, the oil and water curse.

Sweetbans Masterlist
AN: Here's another one for you!
one. fall.
You have no idea why you thought it would be a good idea to go rollerblading. It has been years since you put them on but you begged Caitlin all day saying it would be a fun little outing.
You were completely wrong. It wasn't even 5 minutes in when you fell and got a pretty nasty scrap on your knee.
It takes a few seconds before you feel like you can stand and when you do you wince then sit back down.
Caitlin is looking at our scrap with furrowed eyebrows as she examines what the best course of action would be.
"We should get you home to clean that up, I don't want it to get infected," Caitlin says as her eyes are still glued to your knee.
"No, we just started. I want to keep going," you combat and try to stand again.
Once you are on your feet, you realize you can barely move your leg. You try to hide the pain you are in from your girlfriend but have a hard time hiding anything when you begin to put any sort of pressure on your left leg.
"Okay that is it," Caitlin says as she turns around and hoists you up on her back. She leave both of your rollerblades where you fell and is now carrying you back to your apartment in her socks.
"Cait! I am fine!" You say frustrated that your cute date has been cut short.
"You are not fine." She mumbles as she marches back. "I am going to inspect it after I disinfect it and we will see if I need to take you to urgent care to get it stitched."
"Babe, chill - I am okay." You say, then realize it is a mistake.
Her head whips around as she comes to a complete stop. You can only see her profile but you know she is giving you her death stare.
You learned early on in your relationship how protective Caitlin can be. At first, you thought it was normal but then one of her teammates pointed out how whenever you are in any sort of compromising situation - both physical or mental, Caitlin is right there watching over you. It is always endearing, but could also be too much at times.
You kiss her shoulder and you feel her relax.
The two of you make your way into your apartment. She places you on the kitchen counter as she makes her way to the bathroom to grab the first aid kit.
While she is gone, you attempt to stand up, putting most of your weight on your hands as you slowly lower yourself to the ground. Once you are down on your right foot, you slowly shift your weight to your left and feel pain shoot to your knee. You hiss and begin to lose your balance, trying to grab onto the counter.
Before you know it you feel yourself going down. You mentally brace for your second impact on the ground today but it never comes.
Cait has made her way back to you and has caught you mid-fall, effortlessly lifting you back up and sitting you back down on the counter.
"Do not do that again," is all she says as she opens the first aid kit.
You listen and feel bad for trying to get down on your own. You know Caitlin is doing everything in her power to care for you and you are doing everything you can to do it yourself.
Caitlin takes her time as she disinfects the wound, her hands are the most gentle they have ever been. She is locked in on ensuring she does a thorough job and you do everything in your power to not flinch away from her touch.
You can begin to see steam come out to Caitlin's ears as she is working so intricately on your wound. You bring your hand to brush down the left side of her head.
"I'm sorry I forced you to go rollerblading." You say looking at her. "And I am sorry I fell and that you have to take care of me." This is the best you can do to say Caitlin was right about the whole rollerblading idea.
She looks up at you for the first time since last scolding you for moving.
"You don't need to apologize, babe. I know you didn't do this on purpose." She says as she kisses your right knee. You give her a half smile as she places a bandage on your knee. She stands and you pull her in between your legs and wrap your arms around her for a hug.
She wraps her arms around you and lets out a sigh. The second she does, you know it has been one she has been holding in for a while now.
You rub her back knowing the stress you have caused her this afternoon. Her body relaxes into yours and you can't imagine having anyone else take care of you the way Cait does.
two. handsy.
It’s the Hawkeyes first game in March Madness and you could not be more excited.
Typically you attend games with your friends or sit with Caitlin's family but in this game, Caitlin was able to score you a courtside seat which you gladly accepted.
You get to the game and get escorted to your seat. You chose a simple outfit that consisted of black jeans, some black pumps, and of course your girl’s jersey.
As you sit down you notice the seats around you are empty, you know they will fill up right before tipoff.
You watch the girls come out and begin their warm-ups. You see Caitlin looks around the court until her eyes land on you. Giving her a little wave, she smiles and gives a wave back. Typically you don't drag Cait's attention away from the game but being so close and seeing her look for you, you couldn't help it.
As they are announcing the teams, the people next to you show up. You don't pay them much attention as they begin to announce the Hawkeyes, cheering on Caitlin as she makes her way onto the floor.
The game begins and you are locked into watching Caitlin dominate the court.
You are pulled away from the game when you feel a tap on your thigh. Looking away from the game for a second, you turn to the girl sitting next to you.
She points down to the ground where her lipgloss has rolled by your foot. You pick it up and hand it to her with a smile then turn your attention back to the court.
The first time out is called and you are able to sit back in your chair and breathe for a minute. Watching Caitlin always has your elbows on your knees, holding your breath, with your eyes on her. So any time they call a time-out or the quarter ends you are able to sit back and release the tension your body holds.
"Hey, I'm sorry I interrupted you from the game," the girl next to you says.
You giver her a smile, "Oh you are good!"
"I'm Sarah," she extends her hand. You shake it and introduce yourself.
The game begins again and you assume your position. You cheer on the team as they put in work to stay ahead of the other team. You are on the edge of your seat and don't realize these are folding seats as you push it back slightly, losing your balance.
Just as you are about to fall you feel arms come around you as Sarah has effortlessly caught you and saved you from making a fool of yourself. You are in an awkward squat for .5 seconds as she scoots your chair back to support you. As you sit, your hand comes to her lower thigh as you mumble a thank you, still embarrassed.
"Hey you're good babe, I won't let you fall," she says with a beaming smile. You give her a small smile and nod, thanking her.
Your attention goes back to your girl who you notice has eyes on you. She is staring directly at you, eyes going between you and the girl sitting next to you. Sending you girl a nod, you lock back into the game.
It isn't long after that the half is announced and the girl next to you starts making conversation with you. You don't want to be rude and enter into the light conversation. She stops what she is saying then takes her finger and removes a hair that got caught on your lip. Her finger comes and brushes your cheek and you feel like this is going a little too far.
"Sarah, you seem like a really nice girl but I'm in a relationship." You say.
"Oh my gosh, I promise I am not hitting on you!" She says and introduces you to the girl next to her who's her wife.
A blush instantly makes its way to your face as you feel the fullness of the embarrassment that has overtaken your body. Sarah then puts her arm around you and gives you a side hug as you hide your face in your hands.
Little did you know that Caitlin had seen the whole interaction and had quite frankly had enough of whatever was happening on the sidelines.
Taking only a few giant strides, she is now in front of you.
"Cait!" You yell surprised she has abandoned her post before the fourth quarter.
She is looking right at Sarah, eyes burning into the girl next to you.
"I'm going to need you to remove your arm from my girl and keep your hands to yourself." She says as she removes her arm from you, setting Sarah's hand on her lap and patting it.
"Caitlin," you try getting her attention to let her know the newfound fact that Sarah is indeed not hitting on you.
Caitlin just goes on to tell Sarah that you are happily in a relationship and that she doesn't need the distraction of someone hitting on her girlfriend every 5 minutes.
You get fed up, standing and grabbing Caitlin's face.
"Sarah is married and you are the only one for me!" You yell at her so she can hear you over the crowd. She freezes and now it is her turn to feel the heat of embarrassment creep into her cheeks.
You place a little kiss on her nose and release her, turning her shoulders back to the court and pushing her towards Gabby who checks in with Cait. Caitlin brushes her off as she can't shake the smile on her face.
Your nose kisses are her favorite.
three. work.
Caitlin is currently sitting in the rolling chair right next to yours, tossing up a lacrosse ball as she waits for you to finish up some admin work.
Your staff decided to do its first ever 'bring your spouse into work day'. You thought it was silly considering your company is literally a team of rugby players but caved in when you told Caitlin about it and she was completely on board.
Caitlin and you weren't married yet but had been dating since high school. The two of you talked about marriage quite frequently but wanted to wait until after college to figure it all out. You both knew it was coming but just a matter of when.
"I am almost done here and then we will head out to the field," you say finishing up one of your reports. Caitlin nods, which is unseen to you but you know she is content. Between her practices, games, your work, and school - any time the two of you got together was gold.
You finish up and the two of you head out to the field. You work as a part of the sports medicine team for a local rugby team. It was perfect because it's what you are studying in school and will look good when on your resume. Your goal is to go into the WNBA with Caitlin's team wherever she is drafted.
During the practice, it is a lot of retaping and making sure all the players have what they need. Caitlin watches in awe as these giant guys come up to her girl needing her help with something. You aren't the tallest person to begin with but seeing these full-grown men come up to you makes Caitlin so proud.
Once practice is done - you and Cait go back to your office knowing the fun has just begun. Caitlin takes a seat back in the rolling chair as you grab a pile of towels and make sure your massage table is out and prepped.
Aside from taping, one of your main jobs was massaging out the guys at the end of practice and/or games if needed.
Caitlin knows what you do - you talk about frequently when your job is ever brought up in conversation. She knows what you do firsthand as you have spent countless hours rubbing out knots that she has built up from her own sport. But she was not ready for what she was about to witness.
The first player comes in and you and he joke around as he gets set on the table. By the sounds of it, he is in here after every practice.
He sets himself on his side and hikes up his shorts on his right leg as he twists to the all too familiar position. You place a towel on his upper thigh and glut. As you begin to work out his glut he starts groaning in pain.
You laugh as you continue to work him out. His hand comes up to grab your shoulder, trying to get any sort of pressure released as your elbow assaults his knot. Caitlin's eyes are on the player's hand that is clutching your shoulder now.
You ease up and nudge his hand off, making a joke that he is making you uncomfortable. Caitlin released the breath she didn't realize she was holding.
The thing is - Caitlin is beyond secure in your relationship. She has no doubts that you are hers and only hers but seeing this guy wither under your touch has a fire burning within her. At this moment, it provided no comfort to Caitlin knowing how good your massages are.
Caitlin sits there with her arms crossed as you finish working with the guy. The guy thanks you and heads out as you have a little break.
"I don't know if I like this," Caitlin says, arms still crossed as she is leaning back in her chair.
You shoot her a smile and make your way to her.
"You know best what these hands can do," you say with a shrug and a little smirk. Her eyes widen, not expecting that response from you as the next guy walks in. You lean over and kiss her on the head as you greet the next player.
The next player is similar except you are working out the back of his calves and thighs. He keeps moaning and groaning which you laugh at. Caitlin knows the sounds the guy is making are due to the pain he is in but she can’t help but feel jealousy rise within her.
Again, she knows this is your job and she knows that she is the one you come home to every night but it is wild to her that these guys are squirming at your touch.
This player is feeling so much pain that he reaches back and grabs the back of your thigh just to hold onto something and Caitlin can see him squeeze it.
She leans over and grabs the guy's hand, removing it from your leg.
“Okay that’s enough,” Caitlin says putting her hand on your thigh where she just removed his.
The player apologizes and you give Cait a questioning look.
She doesn’t say anything to you but lets you finish the massage. The player grips the table until you are finished and thanks you upon leaving.
“What was that about babe?” You ask putting everything away.
“There is no reason for them to touch you - especially the way the second guy was. It’s inappropriate,” she says.
“It’s a reflex, it means nothing. And trust me, I always have them remove it.” You say walking up to her.
You stand in between her legs as her hands come up to find the back of your thighs. She looks up at you for a second then her head falls to your stomach. Your hands come to her head and soothe her hair over.
“Your hands are the only ones I want on my body babe.” You say in a sweet tone.
“They better be,” she says giving your legs a squeeze as she pulls you in and hugs your middle.
AN: I hope you enjoyed this lil cute one. And as always, thank you for your love and support 🤍

You knew since it was the off season caitlin would be busy, with all her fancy nike ads and pointless interviews.
But never would you think she would be this busy.
It was a cold fall evening when you and caitlin had decided to have a movie night together after she got back from a photo shoot.
It was the first time just the two of you were able to hangout one on one for almost a month, So to you it was important that it actually happens.
You loved cait but the repeating instance of her missing out on special things and planned dates was not pleasing you.
It was around 3:00 when you decided to start laying out snacks and cozying up your small apartment living room, placing down you and Caitlin’s favorite snacks on the coffee table.
It was getting close to 4:00 when caitlin should be home so you got a set of pajamas on and waited for her on the couch scrolling through instagram.
30 minutes had passed and the time hit 4:15 with no sign of caitlin, checking her location, it was set at the same studio she was at for the shoot.
A pulse of anger and sadness grew throughout your body, yet you still held onto a little hope knowing the studio wasn’t too far. Maybe she was just packing up now? Or maybe they had to re shoot something?
Yet 2 hours went by and there was no trace of caitlin nor any signs of her going home.
Disappointed you cleaned up the blankets spread across the couch letting a small tear fall onto the blanket you were folding up.
Just then the door to your apartment opened and in walked caitlin, the same backpack and clothes she wore earlier still on her.
“Y/N i know what your going to say and im sorry i just-“ she said
You cut her off before she could say anything else. “You just what?!” You said before going on.
“Im sick of this caitlin, you never show up anymore i don’t get it.” You said fighting back tears as you turned to face her.
“I do..i do show up its just.” She paused “i have a busy schedule you get that Y/N. You out of all people should understand” she stepped closer to you guilt playing on her face.
“Name one time you have shown up for me in the past month caitlin”
She stopped unable to answer.
“Exactly, I do everything for you I plan our dates, i come to all your boring ass games, and i put in time for you.” Tears now filled your face unable to hold any back now.
She stood there speechless guilt overpowering her anger.
“Im sick of your excuses. you know i just want to be loved sometimes and you cant even do that for me. Im done caitlin. ” You said before walking off into the bathroom to calm yourself.
Caitlin stood there ashamed and stunned. Sitting on the couch for a moment to collect her thoughts before she saw one of the bowls you hadn’t cleaned up from her late appearance.
Just then she had an idea, she grabbed a few left over bowls setting them on the table and rummaged through the cabinets finding some snacks pouring them into each bowl.
Next she looked through the fridge for spare cookie dough you had made for her from a week or so prior taking it out of the fridge and placing it onto a cookie sheet.
She pre heated the oven and poured you both a glass of wine and took her heating blanket from your guys room and placed it on the couch plugging it in and putting some blankets and pillows on top.
Once the oven was heated she popped the cookies in and placed all the snacks onto the table with the two glasses of wine.
Knowing like most fights you would usually take a shower and do self care after to decompress she knew she had time.
She decided to splurge and run out to the jewelry store across your apartment complex and get the pair of earrings you wanted that she put on hold for you so she could buy them for you.
By the time she got home the cookies were done and she set the earrings in a gift bag drawing your name on it with a heart, next to it were the words “I’m so sorry, i love you”
She heard the shower stop and knocked on the door leaning on it slightly. “Y/N im so sorry, you were right.. I do need to spend more time with you so will you please watch a movie with me.”
She waited for a second now standing right in front of the door before you opened it and walked out in your pajamas.
“Fine. And Im sorry for calling your games boring i promise you they’re not.” She smiled at you leading you to the living room.
You saw the living room adorned with blankets, wine, and snacks placed on the coffee table, but most importantly the gift bag sat right next to the cookies.
“Caitlin what is this?” You said walking over with her to the couch picking up the gift bag.
“Open it” she said sitting down on the couch.
You opened the bag and saw a velvet case opening it softly and saw a pair of ruby red earrings with an engravement on the gold side that had c + y/i on it.
“Caitlin you know you didn’t have to!” You said smiling at her as you went to hug her sitting on the couch.
“I wanted to treat my girl as a sorry for being so careless.” She said running her hand through your wet hair as you laid your head on her shoulder.
“Well movie time?” She said and you nodded as she turned on a movie.
You waited for a moment before saying “You know i love you cait.” Looking up at her.
“I love you to Y/N more than anything.” She said looking down at you and then placing a kiss on your forehead.

𓂃 ࣪˖ ཐིཋྀ now playing : reflections (the nbhd)
for what feels like centuries, violet has been cracking her skull trying to get out of the iron bars, punching them and trying to force her body through the gaps with no avail. each drop of the water leak in the corner of the cell where jinx once sat feels like a ticking timebomb to someone’s imminent demise, but she’s not sure whether it’ll be her or her sister. her knuckles bleed, raw and red, eyes stinging from the tears she refuses to let fall. every breath is hoarse, the memories of prison from what felt like another life ago flooding her mind, a throat dry like sandpaper. after all these years, it feels so exposing to be vulnerable, so she remains paralysed in guilt. her sister had told her to not feel guilty anymore, but how couldn't she? she was always caught between rocks and hard places, yet always on the losing side. her breath picks up, hands clawing through her hair as she’s slumped on ground, her head in her hands. how much more helpless could she be in such a dire situation?
at that moment, she hears the click of keys jangling in the cell door in front of her, instantly flicking her neck up so fast she almost gets whiplash, a lean silhouette in front of her. locking eyes, caitlyn’s expression is one of… hesitance? withdrawal? she tentatively steps forward to vi until she meets her where she stands at the wall, exhaling so quiet as if her breath would rouse a beast from its slumber. “cait.. what are you doing here?”
time was frozen yet still an endless stretch as vi got into gear, instantly bolting for the door with the chance to save her sister given to her on a silver platter, but she’s held by the shoulder unable to leave. “i’m sorry, violet…” except now her helplessness is overcome by anger and resentment for all the previous pain. “now is not time for an apology!! let me go- let me SAVE her!” but cait’s grip only tightens, like vines around her chest, keeping her trapped in her arms.
she can feel the tremors of her guilty tears, acknowledging the harm she’s perpetuated after all this time. hoping it’s not too late to make amends, holding on to every last chance. “i’m so sorry vi, i never should’ve hurt you or put you in danger, and i- i was so so selfish…” whispering to herself. except vi has no more empathy to give to caitlyn right now. not when her world is crumbling around her, when her sister has signed her farewell, when the woman who should love her left her drowning in a sea of hardship only alcohol could fix. there is no more patience, no more instant forgiveness, not in this moment.
she shakes cait off of her back, throwing her against the wall with force, yelling into her own hands. vi paces up and down the cell, hitting her hands to her temple to try and think with reason. part of her wants to believe this can be salvaged, the bond they share, the care they have for one another. but she knows it was thrown away, so easily. a look of disgust from her, standing tall and proud, like a snotty piltover princess who has to get her way, after punching vi in the gut no less. everything in her life was catered to, prepared for, set in stone. this is the same woman who would kill any innocent to get to jinx. “clearly she’s not thinking straight,” vi thinks, but she also knows it’s no excuse. her carnal need to tear jinx apart has already torn apart what they had, irreparably so.
“you have some nerve, coming in here, and saying sorry of all things!! like that’s gonna fix EVERYTHING you’ve done. you’d kill anyone at all, and only now you wanna apologise? abandoning me and leaving me at my worst is cruel but coming back to relish in it… i didn’t think you could be so evil.”
for a second, cait stutters, frowning and eyes wide and bleary as she pushes out “i’m not here t-to relish in anything, i’m here to make amends, i swear on everything violet. i know how badly i’ve fucked up and how much i’ve done, and i still...” she squeezes her eyes and wipes her face quickly saying “love you”, under her breath, unable to hold eye contact. of course she doesn’t think her actions are evil, she thinks they’re justified, putting an end to terror in the city.
vi’s lost her patience with her, squaring her up and getting so close to her face she could feel every delicate breath, hear every heartbeat. “i chose to fight with you on the battlefield. i told you i’d take down my own blood sister with you, i talk to you with reason and tell you to NOT RISK SHOOTING A FUCKING CHILD, and what do you do? you punch me in my wound, leave me crying in pain, and go on your merry way. do you think i’m below you cait? do you think you’re better than me because you’ve gotten everything you wanted?” when vi yells, she snarls, her nose twitching in fury, like a beast trying to tame itself. she shakes and steps back, turning around and crossing her arms defensively.
cait was transfixed on her eyes, unable to look away from the truth laid in front of her. “your mom got an actual funeral, a real nice coffin, beautiful ceremony. vander died and we had nothing. our parents died and we didn’t have a fancy ceremony. how long do i have to fucking spell it out for you? even your grief is seen as better than mine, and clearly you think it too-”
cait tries to interject, standing up for herself against vi, “you can’t compare our suffering to one another, thats not right violet-”, but she’s instantly shut up getting pushed against the wall by the neck, her breath stilted by the pressure of vi’s forearm. “you, of all people don’t get to tell me what’s right or fair,” letting go of her on the side of the wall, stepping back as cait clutches her neck for air. vi is instantly back to shaking the bars, relentless in her mission to get out and still unsuccessful.
unfortunately for cait, her segue from the guilt is straight into shame as she starts staring at violet from the other side of the cell, her muscles tensing and relaxing under pressure, her back muscles accentuated through her shirt, thinking of all the ways she could show her she misses what they had and that she’s sorry. she inhales and exhales slowly, dragging her feet along to vi who freezes in place.
cait lowers herself down to her knees, hands on her thighs, preparing all the words in her head for how to get this right. “violet, from the day we first comforted each other i felt you were the one for me, and your sister being… who she is made things so much more complicated. it doesn’t change how… selfish i was, how entitled i am, even if i don’t think about it. my decisions dont only affect me, but so many others. even with my blinding rage for your sister, i see how deeply your bond runs and to give you such an ultimatum and expect it to be steadfast was…. foolish. i made such terrible decisions in my fit of rage, pushing you away like i was an angry untameable animal, and for that i am so so sorry. my want to keep you all to myself is foolish. the way i hurt you and lashed out, left you and became ambessa’s puppet all to avoid the word “sorry” is probably my biggest regret, and i am so sorry for breaking your trust. let me be someone you can love… again. only if you let me. you don't have to accept my words… but i know actions speak louder. let me make amends… please.”
each soft word cuts through vi’s body like a knife, trying to maintain her unwavering resolve to remain cold, harsh and unfeeling towards her. God knows she’s deserves the cold shoulder for even a little while instead of getting everything her way. she looks back over her shoulder to cait on the floor, both of them meeting each other’s gaze as vi stares down. if broken glass had a face, it would be caitlyn’s in this very moment. she sighs and rubs her face, always battling with all the possibilities, all the new things that could go wrong, but even if she doesn’t accept her entirely, she can start with hearing her. vi kneels down to her level, the baggage of trauma, grief, loss and guilt weighing her shoulders in this moment as she finally lets her tears pour in a desperate cry. cait knows this isn’t about her and her struggles, her mother, or even jinx. right now, she needs to be there for her. so she clutches vi around her neck and holds onto her, for as long as she’s there, her body moving up and down with every sob.
“i-i just can’t do this, everything feels so unfixable and i don’t know how i can keep ever- everything together…” every scream she’s locked away since childhood just waiting to be let out. violet feels like there’s more air in her chest, exhaling slowly now, her tears staining cait’s shirt.
she lifts her head from her shoulder, cait’s hand rubbing up and down her neck in a soothing motion, her eyes dry and darting around her face. cait puts both hands around vi’s face, slowly pulling her in and pressing her lips against her forehead, not in any lustful manner, but to put all the love and regret into repetitive “i’m so sorry”s, pressing them around her face, each kiss long and thoughtful. vi’s salty tears continue to fall as cait tastes them and kisses them away anyway, with no words to say anymore.
vi pulls cait’s face to her own, looking into her eyes for a few seconds before flicking down to her lips and tasting them, with every touch feeling like a sting to the skin, fingers tracing down along backbones and up through shirts, but the hands just linger, cait’s finger digging into vi’s skin around her, tightening and coiling her again. she leans her head over to vi’s shoulder, taking small bites around the skin through heavy breaths, suddenly unable to initiate out of fear. vi brings her back to face her, running her hand through her tussled navy hair, not sure whether to dive head first into the murky waters of their future. it feels like her anger and pain has all melted away even temporarily, and now she just wants pleasure to drown out the noise. maybe she could get what she wants. but she knows what she has to do. she slides out of caitlyn’s grip, as she starts frantically grasping again while vi stands up, backing away, leaving her behind. cait starts to plead from her position, “no, no please don’t leave, don’t leave me vi!”.
its as if the air stands still, each breath they take weighing the earth down. with a delicate voice, violet whispers “this should be payback, for you leaving me...” her eyes well up with tears, shuddering trying to prevent them falling. “…but you know i have to save her.” she turns so fast she might fall off balance, taking each stride with one foot in front of the other out of that cell, until caitlyn’s cries fade away. perhaps they were never fated to be together. maybe this is how it ends.

Beginners Guide To Making A Point: Arcane
**Spoilers For Arcane**
Tumblr media
Good morning my friends. Have you or someone you know been victimized by one of the mean folks like myself ripping apart your takes on the show Arcane? Well today there is hope. I’m here to share the sinister secrets of our trade that allow us to commit such dastardly deeds. So the next time one of us comes knocking, you will be ready!
All too often, I see kind and gentle folks like you innocently trying to make statements like the ones below:
1. Caitlyn Kiramman murdered kids!
2. Caitlyn never showed any remorse!
3. Caitlyn lost her mom and acted like that was a justification for her crimes!
4. Caitlyn looked down and didn’t love Vi!
Now you aren’t doing anything wrong. Just sharing your take on this story and what happens. But then someone like me will come along and reblog with some snarky title and something like this:
1. There is no evidence of that whatsoever in any single moment of the show
2. I’d run down the various moments where she does show remorse
3. I’d list the long series of traumatic incidents that severely impact her mental state leading to her eventual fall into Ambessa’s clutches
4. Id explain that there are three moments and three moments only when she ever says a negative thing about Zaunites.
A- she calls the people who attacked the memorial animals immediately afterward. And lets be clear, they were.
B- She says Vi and Jinx share blood during her lowest and darkest moment.
C- She says something regarding the depravity of Zaun or something when talking to Singed after the Stillwater massacre. Of course I’d use the whole quote.
Then I would point out that she saved Vi’s life twice, spared Jinx after all she’d done to Cait in season 1 because Vi asked her to, started a war by trying to save Vander, and gave Vi the choice to free Jinx knowing full well Vi may leave and never return.
And you’d have a bunch of mean comments that hurt your feelings and people making fun of you and so on. But! I’m gonna show you how I do it and help you make your next case in a way people like me can’t attack. First we need to discuss one very simple rule
If you can’t back it up with content, it didn’t happen:
Now this one sounds simple. But it can be tricky to master. Let me give you an example-
Example: “Caitlyn murdered innocent Zaunites with The Grey!”
Okay. Now I know in your mind you see this and think, “well yea? I mean we saw the sketches of people who grew up surrounded by it their whole lives having problems. And Jayce suggests Viktor’s condition may have been caused by it. She exposed people to it that means she killed them”.
There is not in a single second of any frame, evidence that anyone died from exposure during the strike team’s operations. In fact we see several characters who were exposed, Caitlyn included, who are fine later. And I know, what you are thinking:
“But OP we don’t know if there were long term latent complications!”
Correct. And unless Riot and Fortiche tell us we never will. Vi could have CTE, Jinx could have untold issues from being infused with Shimmer, Sevika could have lung cancer. It’s all speculative. So if it didn’t happen, it isn’t good for analysis.
Going a tad bit deeper
Now this one does go even further. Let’s use this example:
Example- “Caitlyn never apologized!”
Now I see this one a lot. And I get it. She never says sorry out loud. So if you misunderstand the rule that means she doesn’t. But you notice it says “if you can’t back it up with the content”.
So while Caitlyn never speaks the words, we know she :
1. starts a war to save Vander
2. takes no action when Jinx has her back to her and instead rushes to save a wounded Vi
3. keeps Jinx in the Kiramman bunker rather than Stillwater and forgoes judgement until Vi wakes
4. has several bits of dialogue expressing her regret and self-hate
5. lets Vi make the choice to free Jinx, shows Vi love and acceptance when she feels she lost everyone
6. is quite clearly remorseful touching the place where she hit Vi.
These are quite clear signs of her remorse. So what does that mean? It means that even if it isn’t explicitly shown I can back it up with clear examples that are content driven. None of that is speculative. It is all clear and on screen.
And some of these are harder, like this one:
“Ekko clearly didn’t dispute the use of The Grey”:
We didn’t see Ekko. We didn’t hear from him during the strike team’s mission about what they were doing. So how can I say that?
1. We know he was in Zaun
2. He’s the firelight commander and has been battling Silco/shimmer for years for his people
3. He fights for the people of Zaun
These are all indisputable. And I can source each of these details directly from content. So sometimes you have to dig alittle deeper. But you can still support your ideas with plain on screen evidence.
*An Important Note*
We must also be careful not only to be sure we only use detail we can back up, but that we don’t exclude detail that does not support us. A great example for this is this one:
EXAMPLE: Caitlyn lost her mom and acts like that single loss justifies a full on dictatorship.
Now someone like me would come along and list the multiple times Jinx almost killed Caitlyn, the total eradication of Caitlyn’s faith in the pre-existing system after Marcus tried to murder her, the deaths of many of her peers in front of her, her abduction and possible torture at Jinx’s hands, listening to Jinx try and convince Vi to murder her, sparing Jinx at Vi’s pleading then watching Jinx murder her mother.
Now I’ve come and used all those details you left out and made you look silly. No one wants that! So be sure to include everything relevant. If its a good take it will survive it.
Conclusion:
So, using this guide hopefully you can craft your next analysis with the detail and content and avoid interactions with unpleasant folks like me. Just remember! Let’s leave the imagination in fanfics and keep the analysis to the content itself. Don’t worry though, if you lose track I’m here to help you out.

No because the more I think about it, the angrier I get.
Vi didn't get a happy ending just because she's with Cait or whatever. She lost her sister and her father right after getting them back, she never got an apology or anything from Caitlin for all the horrible things that Caitlin did, and she still feels like "the dirt under Cait's nails" which um! Not a very happy ending thing for a character to say about their significant other, especially with their story of Caitlin being a member of the system that oppressed Vi and her people. Queerwashing classism isn't gonna work I'm afraid!
And Cait told Jinx that the good things she did weren't gonna magically make her crimes go away but- that's exactly what happened with Cait herself. She never paid for any of the crimes she committed, she never got any consequences for her actions, she got to have her cake and eat it too.
This is not a "sapphics get their happy ending" because the ending is not fuckin' happy. It's twisted and half-baked and just leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. Sorry but lesbian sex isn't enough for me to forget class oppression and police brutality on a systemic level that never got resolved, and the perpetrators of which never got any consequences for.
Anyway. Timebomb and Jayvik are my best friends now, I'm afraid. Can't believe I was so focused on CaitVi in s1 I didn't see their potential.

Sooo I been thinking a lot about the fandom reception of Caitvi, and Caitlyn Kiramman herself, and how that reception is negative compared to other, equally or more morally dubious characters and toxic ships. More specifically I've been thinking about my perception of Caitvi and Caitlyn, because I wanted to do some introspection on why I dislike her and the ship compared to others, to evaluate if it really is internalized misogyny or holding female characters to an unfairly high standard or if there was an objective reason that made people react more negatively to this ship/character than others. I came to some conclusions, that if you've been curious about this discourse, you may find interesting, but it's kind of a long read.
While I think in situations like this there is always a factor of implicit misogyny, I've come to the conclusion that, at least for me, there are bigger reasons to why I dislike the ship (and Caitlyn) that may speak to other fans as well.
On the outset, looking at it objectively, Caitvi should be one of the least toxic ships in the fandom. They're pretty much the only one that at no point actively tried to kill each other (Ekko was going to kill Jinx on the bridge, even if he did stop himself, Jinx tried to blow him up along with herself like four times and also fired a machine gun at him. Vander and Silco,, well we all know what happened. Jayce blasted a hole in Viktor's chest. Viktor didn't try to kill Sky but he did. Maddie uhhh fucking tried to shoot Cait in the neck) I think Meljay is the only other mainstream ship from this show that didn't try to fucking murder each other at any point. So why is Caitvi disliked, or at least considered unilaterally less wholesome than Timebomb (who takes the cake for "murder attempts per ship" while also managing to be considered the least problematic in the fandom lmao)?
I came to the conclusion that it ultimately boils down to the ending. I loved Caitvi in season one, I really did, and I kept loving them throughout the beginning of season 2. Caitlyn made mistakes, and she was a cop, but it's a show and I can look past that, Vi made mistakes too. They started to lose me, not when Cait asked Vi to become a cop, but in the later scene where we learn from Maddie that Caitlyn had had Vi enlisted as an enforcer despite her outright rejection of the proposal AND after apologizing for said proposal. This is a huge violation, but Vi's lesbian ass was just touched that Caitlyn complimented her while doing it, so it never gets brought up and she agrees to go along with it? Don't love that. It's literally never brought up. Maybe I got the timeline bungled since it happens off screen but,, yeah.
We then see Caitlyn terrorize the undercity with fucking toxic fumes, as many people bring up. I actually don't think it's OOC for Vi to have gone along with this, she's shown multiple times that she is in support of any level of brutality levied against the people of the undercity as long as they're the ones she doesn't like. No, what got me was when she was aggressively threatening Huck with borderline torture in Stillwater, the thing VI HERSELF EXPERIENCED, and she pulls her aside not to reprimand her, but to make out with her and ask her not to change.
HUH?
Remember in S1 when Vi got incredibly mad at Jayce for "bandying the threat around" when he threatened to arrest her, and got justifiably furious at the unfairness of Topsiders who have no idea what Stillwater is like to wantonly throw people in there to rot? Where was that energy, girl?
Then of course is the part where Caitlyn strikes Vi in an already injured spot to punish her for not letting Caitlyn shoot at a child, which, characters in this show are always being violent to each other, every other ship is. If we can get over Ekko repeatedly pummeling Jinx in her FACE we can get over this, but here's the kicker-
She reduces Vi to her lower class status before hurting her. "I keep telling myself that you're different, but you're not."
In that moment, all of Caitlyn's "ally" sentiments to Zaun fly out the window. In that moment, Vi ceases to be "one of the good ones" to her and she resolves in her abject bigotry towards Zaunites. Vi is no longer worth the dirt at the bottom of her shoe because she's just a Zaunite, like her sister. That's the kicker. The Caitlyn from season 1 who genuinely wanted to do good is gone. She doesn't care about doing good anymore, she only cares about punishing Zaun for existing.
And I think this is why people dislike her, because with most other characters, they consistently wanted to do good and thought they were doing the right thing even if they were absolutely wrong.
Viktor thought that turning humanity into flawless, mindless robots would eliminate suffering.
Jayce constantly fucked up but every fucked up thing he does is because he thinks it will help people.
Ambessa wanted to protect her family and was willing to make any sacrifice to do so.
Singed wanted to save his daughter and was willing to make any sacrifice to do so.
Mel wanted to keep Piltover and Jayce safe.
Sevika wanted the Undercity to be independent and free
Silco is the most similar to Caitlyn in this regard, because his character was mostly motivated by wanting revenge against Piltover, but at least somewhere in his little rat brain, he felt like he was doing it for Zaun and so the people of Zaun could be respected, free, and prosperous.
Caitlyn just wanted revenge.
And then we get to the ending. In the last couple episodes every single character is punished by the narrative for their crimes. With only two exceptions.
Singed and Caitlyn.
Jayce, Viktor, Jinx, and Ambessa all fucking die (I'm not discussing theories of the first three being alive because this post is only going into what the show actually shows us so for the sake of this argument, they dead)
Mel loses the man she loves, has to kill her own mother, and leaves the city she loves to return alone to Noxus.
Ekko catches a glimpse of everything he ever wanted, gives it up to save his own timeline, and the girl he loves still fucking dies and he is left completely alone.
Vi loses her sister and what's left of her dad, and it's her fault Jinx dies, and she has to live with that, and the only support system she has left is her partner who called her a slur then hit her
Cait uhhhh *checks notes* loses her eye. That's. That's all that happens to her. I mean her mom died but that was before she went off the rails, not after, and I think the only character who ended the series with an alive mom was Jayce so it's not like that makes her unique.
Now I can actually see how making her disabled in this way would be an interesting narrative tool, similar to the end of the Comic Nimona, where the Cop love interest becomes disabled when he finally tries to fight for something good, and in doing so his disability frees him from the role of being a cop, without which he can live peacefully and happily. If they'd taken this approach with Cait it would have been very interesting, because she's a sharpshooter. If her newfound lack of depth perception compromised her ability to do her job, and she was no longer an enforcer, that would be an interesting ending.
But they do nothing with that. She's still a cop but she has a cool eyepatch now. Like what a fucking waste.
Now I do know that she supposedly learns from her mistakes. She clearly knows what she did was wrong, she lets Jinx go, despite Jinx being her white whale the entire fucking season, which is a huge sacrifice to make and she does it because she loves Vi. That's sweet, it is, and she gives Sevika her seat on the council I guess to show that she reformed her hatred of Zaunites. It's good that she did those things.
But the fact that she is never held accountable for the worst of the things she does, not by the narrative, not by Vi, not by any other character, and the story ends with her STILL being a cop indicating that she actually learned fuckall, and most importantly: The series ends with her, a cop, who has been violent and discriminatory with Vi before, being Vi's only remaining support system.
Her odds of becoming a victim of the 40% statistic don't look great.
So I hope this explains my and other people's issues with Caitlyn and Caitvi. Ultimately I don't hate the ship I just don't like it, and I'm not some anti who takes issue with other people shipping two Consenting Problematic Adults from "Problematic Adults: the Cartoon, inspired by Problematic Everything: The Video Game." I guess I just wanted to put out an explanation for why I and others don't like them in the hopes of reaching some understanding in the fandom. I'm glad to have my canon problematic lesbians at the end of the day.

this is all my personal opinion as a somewhat new arcane enjoyer.
act 3 of arcane really ruined it all for me. one of the things that makes me love shows so much is when they make me just feel so so much. and arcane did this so well, especially in s1. act 1 and 2 of s2 also did this very well, tho not even close to as well as s1 in my opinion.
i felt sad about isha's death, but i don't really care about jinx's. this isn't bc i cared more abt isha than jinx, a million percent no, this is bc it didnt feel liek there was any weight to it. we saw a very small clip of vi sobbing then, boom, she's almost fine???? her humming powder's lullaby isn't enough, i need to see her grieve. jinx literally completely gave up because of isha's death. vi wasn't even close to being in the same position as jinx but that was still her sister. her sister whom she tried so hard to protect and get back and finally got her back. it just didn't feel real. and on top of that, everyone thinks she's not actually dead. i wish they showed the "proof" of that later or something because i needed that grieving period from vi.
i felt so strongly about jayvik and their whole dynamic snd ending this season. in act 2 i felt that the writing for caitvi wasn't as good as it was in s1 and act 1 but then it just pissed me off at the end. i kinda liked the fact that they were in a cell when they had sex lol but i feel like it was weird timing and also could be a weird setting. but what rlly got me was the fact they don't fucking talk. they dont talk it out. one of the bjggest reasons i love jayvik is because of their lines too eachother. theyre so devestating and beautiful and thats what we got with caitvi before act 2. i was hoping they would talk about alllll the problems they were having because they were having a lot but, either they didn't or we just didn't see it. the resolution to jayvik was so satisfying because we got to know all of their closing thoughts and emotions. we didn't get to see cait apologizing or vi talking abt jinx and it just felt so emotionless.
im really sad they got rid of all the political stuff. i feel like the first step to doing that was putting vi in an enforcer outfit but with that i thought theyd explore into it and the trauma around it even more. but they didnt at all. they put more of the oppressed into the oppressors outfits and called it "fighting against a greater evil" i think thats a fine thing to happen but not if you throw away the whole conversation about politics you were having beforehand. i felt enger towards the piltover people and council just because they were a part of the oppressive regime. after s1 i felt like they tried to act like those ppl were never in the wrong. they swept it all under the rug.
it really just felt like there wasn't a clear conclusion. what happened to zaun and piltover? the scene of sevika sitting at the table isn't enough (don't get me started on sevika I MISS HER). what happened to the firelights?? everyone says ekko lost everything but like do we know what happened to the tree or to the firelights??? i wanted to see the progress the two cities made and how PILTOVER compensated for their actions.
thats it ig, im rlly trying to be happy abt the ending and to do that i have to think abt jayvik bc theyre the only perfect ending in my eyes and i miss caitvi i miss them

FO4 companions attempting to give Sole a haircut but they fuck it up really bad? I just got back from a horrible hairdresser visit and I need the cope
Fo4 Companions Accidentally Giving Sole A Bad Haircut
➼ Word Count » 0.8k ➼ Warnings » None ➼ Genre » Platonic/Romantic, Hurt/Comfort? ➼ A/N » It's been a few months since you've requested this so I'm praying you're feeling better now!
You know MacCready messed something up when he begins chuckling nervously, rests a shaky hand on your shoulder, and starts talking way more than usual. He tries to stall you looking in the mirror for as long as possible but, when you eventually do, he’s biting his fist in awkwardness. He won’t lie, this is not his best work, but he never promised perfection. Nevertheless, he feels awful for what he’s done and will let you wear his hat to cover it until it grows back.
Nick will tell you flat out when he messes it up. He'll sigh apologetically, saying he should've just waited to have Ellie cut it or, I don't know, taking you to Kathy and John's Super Salon, right across the street from his agency. He doesn't do anything more to it and takes you straight to the salon to see if you can't salvage it. He feels awful about it, and will never touch your hair again.
Cait knows she isn't going to do a good job with it, but she doesn't tell you that and agrees to cut it anyway. Normally, when she wants to cut her hair, she'll just take any shape object she can get a hold of and start chopping away, and that's exactly what she does with you. She'll sit you down, pull out a pocket knife, and slice whole chunks off at a time. The worst part is that she's got no shame in it.
Preston will gasp quietly and cover his mouth with his hand. He refuses to move and will just stand there, completely still until you ask him what's wrong. He doesn't even know where to begin telling you how badly he's messed up and will instead, just apologize, rest his hands on the back of your shoulders, and rub reassuring circles into them with his thumbs. There are plenty of generals who don't have good hair! Nothing to fret over!
Codsworth will let out a silent 'Oh dear' and turn his buzzsaw off. Eventually, he'll begin reminding you of a separate time when you'd come back from the barber with you're hair all fucked, before explaining that he did exactly that. He tries to be light-hearted about it, but he's just as devastated as you are, possibly even more. He's a Mr. Handy, for Godsake! And he can't even do the basics!
Piper isn't even subtle about it. She'll just immediately begin comparing it to Atomites she's met through investigative journalism. She'll tell you that she's just giving you the 'wasteland special' and you shouldn't feel too upset about it. There are loads of people with this style! So, cheer up! It'll grow back!
Curie doesn't even realize she's messed anything up. In her opinion, any hairstyle any person has looks good. She doesn't quite understand the emotional attachment many people have toward it and just cuts it really short to help with mobility and whatnot. When you explain it to her, however, she starts to feel really guilty and will apologize nonstop.
Strong will just shave you bald. Now you look like him! What's there to be upset over? No support whatsoever from him.
Hancock will also just cut it with his knife, although, he's a lot more sympathetic than Cait. He'll hug you out of remorse and tell you it could be worse. You could be a ghoul and have no hair at all! Look at him! He can't even grow hair anymore so, don't feel too bad about it, alright?
Deacon will immediately fall to the ground in a squat, head in his hands as he simultaneously tries not to laugh or cry. He's cut his own hair so many times before with no issue - he cuts everyone in the Railroad's hair! - and it shatters him to know that he messed up on a craft he thought he perfected. He's supposed to be good at this! After a moment, he'll stand again and find you a wig in his collection for you to keep until your hair grows back. At least now the two of you can be wig buddies? Yay?
X6-88 will hum in defeat when he's messed it up before saying that he told you you should've gone to someone who actually knows how to cut hair. He can't comfort you for shit and probably just blames you for asking for help from someone who can't cut hair.
Old Longfellow knows how to cut hair. So, if he's messed it up, it means he was drunk. But, hey! Now you have a story to tell the folks at The Last Plank! So, he'll take you straight there so you can, hopefully, drink it off and laugh with the other regulars about it. No harm done!
Gage will tell you straight out that he's fucked it up badly, but he's not that concerned with it. If you seem upset, he'll just shrug and tell you it's not as bad as some of the other raiders in this place. If it bothers you that much, though, he'll get you a helmet for you to wear for the time being. It's safer for you anyway.

Hi, I just read the Caitlin Clark x tennis reader. Would you possibly do a Caitlin Clark x volleyball reader, where the reader is more femme. Something along the lines of maybe reader plays for Texas vb and wins the championship.. sorry for the poor wording. Keep up ur amazing work!!
-anon
i would love too! again, i apologize for any inaccuracies in how i wrote the volleyball aspect of this, i’ve never played before so bare with me ! <3
Championship . CC
pairing: caitlin clark x reader
synopsis: caitlin supports you during your big win
༶•┈┈୨♡୧┈┈•༶
you had been working your ass off this season. it was your senior year at the college you attended and your last year playing volleyball with your team, you were very overwhelmed to say the least. there were so many nights spent on the court late at night, trying to perfect every move and every technique. you desperately wanted to take your team to the championship and win this title for them.
so you pushed yourself to your limits, still trying to maintain your grades and personal life. caitlin, your girlfriend, was incredibly understanding of course. she knew what it was like to want to win so bad, so bad that it felt like you were going to lose your mind. but she kept you grounded. you had always been there for her with basketball, and she wanted to show you that same appreciation for your dreams.
she attended every single game, often making the trip with you for away games. she’d bring flowers for you on occasion for your big wins, and she’d tend to bruises on your knees from diving and scrapes on your arms. she was so incredibly good to you.
you were lucky to have someone who understood the stress of the game and how it felt to struggle with wanting to win and not let down your team.
your hard work had paid off this season, though. thanks to your team, your coach, your family and friends, and especially caitlin. you led your team to victory and you were now heading to the final game in the champions ship. of course, your training remained intensive up until the game, stretching you thin.
the night before your game, caitlin made sure to treat you to a small night in to help you relax. she set up a movie and dinner, tended to your aching shoulders, completely shifting all of her attention to you. when you had woke up the next morning to get ready for the big day, she had even helped you get ready to help keep your mind at ease.
“you know i can braid my own hair, right?” you were finishing up your makeup, putting on some mascara and the lip gloss cait had gotten you for your anniversary a while back. caitlin had walked into the bathroom, offering to do your hair for you so you didn’t have to worry about it.
“yea i know, but i want to do it for you this time” she smiled at you through the mirror “like my way of sending you good luck, then you’ll know i’m always with you even on the court”
“that’s so sweet, cait” you turned around, pecking her on the cheek “just don’t do it too tight, please”
so there she stood, towering over behind you, twisting the 3 strands of your hair into a braid. her tongue sticking out slightly as she stayed focused on getting it perfect, just how you liked it. when she was finished, she proudly showed it off to you. you thanked her again before changing into your uniform and grabbing your bag.
once you arrived to the court for the championship, you and caitlin walked down to the locker room so she could give you a quick pep talk and a final kiss goodbye. “you’re going to absolutely kill it, babe, good luck!”
˗ˏˋ ´ˎ˗
after ages of waiting in the locker room; getting warmed up, strategizing with your team, talking with your coach, it was finally time to head onto the court. you could hear the entire audience cheering as the announcers called on each one of your teammates, the anticipation for the game sat thick in the air.
the game started off well, everyone was quick on their feet, prepared for the opponent’s next move. you were probably having one of the best games in your career and you could just about feel that trophy in your hands. you had managed to hold a lead for the majority of the game, but within the last few minutes it tied, all boiling down to one last play.
you held your breathe as your teammate served the ball, watching as it sailed over the net. you stood ready, feet planted, heart racing, and determined more than you had ever been. the ball bounced back and forth over the net before eventually hurdling your way. your muscles tensed, eyes glued to the ball. you leapt, body a blur of motion, hand connecting with the ball in a perfect spike. Time seemed to halt as the ball soared over the net, bypassing the outstretched arms of the opposing team. the crowd erupted into cheers as you all watched the ball land on their court. you had scored the final point.
your team immediately surrounded you, lifting you up and cheering your name. there were so many tears and so many hugs as you all cherished the win of your last game together.
once the excitement died down with your team, you noticed caitlin on the side, making her way over to you. you smiled so big your cheeks hurt, running over to her as fast as you could. caitlin scooped you up into her arms, spinning you around from how fast you ran into her. your head buried itself into the side of her neck as you cried tears of joy, her arms squeezing you tight.
“i’m so fucking proud of you baby” she whispered in your ear, praising you gently and setting you back down on your feet “the best fucking player out there, hands down”
“thanks, cait” you beamed, pulling her back into another hug. “i can’t believe it”
“i can! you’ve been working your ass off for four years to get to this point! you deserve it more than anyone, YN” she said, watching how you bounced with excitement.
you and caitlin celebrated a little bit more on the court before you had to spilt to go talk to your friends and family, she waited patiently for you, observing how happy you looked taking pictures with the trophy and talking to your friends. it was such a rewarding sight to see, she was the most proud a girlfriend could be.
even when you had both arrived home, still buzzing with the post-win high. she showered you with praise and attention, making sure you knew how happy she was for you.
cait made you feel so special, no matter how sad the loss or how big the win. you were so privileged to have her at your side, supporting you through such an amazing collegiate career.

more arcane s2 thoughts in no particular order. this is pretty negative. woops
Cait, Vi, Caitvi
despite being what initially got me watching to begin with caitvi just never ended up being my primary interest with this show, so going into s2 it wasn't like I had very well formulated expectations or hopes. I think if I had I would maybe feel disappointed? They had some nice moments, they got the kiss and the sex scene, they're clearly endgame, etc, and that's nice, but it also felt like their relationship was so ... never really the star of the show or focus of the story to the extent I expected it to be. Did they even get a big fight-together battle-couple moment in the last ep, I don't think so? I didn't find the resolution to their Act 1 breakup especially good, I think Caitlyn owed Vi an apology and Vi deserved to be angry for longer than ten seconds.
I generally feel across both seasons that Vi's pain and trauma is rarely given as much weight as other characters', I was pretty underwhelmed by Caitlyn's dictator arc after being extremely interested in it at the end of act 1...
I dunno. I hope their stans liked it and are satisfied getting to see them kiss and have sex and be together and I wouldn't downplay the significance of The Couple in Arcane being a lesbian couple. But I wasn't personally very compelled or moved by it.
Jinx
Like the above I'm not a Jinx academic by any means but I think if I were I would be frustrated by how cyclical her arc was in season 2. And no, having Silco show up to be like "it's a cycle" doesn't really justify the narrative interludes. Isha is a hard sell of a character for me because I don't ... generally want little kid characters around ... and I found Jinx (basically) looking straight into the camera to say "gee you are just like me, Powder, when I was a little kid, which reminds me of being Powder, is this how Silco felt, is this how Vi felt" to be hamfisted. But some of the scenes with the two of 'em and Sevika were cute ... only for Isha to die and Jinx to be depressed, again, and then come through the other side, again, and then "die", again. Like if we wanted to deal with depressed Jinx we started off s2 that way...
I've seen other posts by Jinx fans that articulate much better the ways in which she goes from the driving plot force in s1 and main autonomous actor to just kind of being wafted around by plot in season 2 so I won't repeat them. But I think they are right. I also question the way her mental illness was portrayed -- or rather wasn't... -- in season 2. Powder in the AU showing no sign of illness (despite baby Powder in the main timeline already having some of that going on, pre-Vander death)... I mean, sure, she's got a support system etc in that world, and one can argue we don't spend enough time with AU Powder to necessarily see it, but combined with the Isha stuff it just kind of felt like a weird message.
Sevika
I love Sevika, one of my faves from s1. I was so excited she seemed to get a bigger role in act 1 and then in the first ep of act 2. And then she never spoke again. What the hell man... like damn... really?????!? Not a WORD in act 3? I'm sure this was some of the stuff they trimmed to get that finale down to 50 minutes but god that sucks, so much, in ways a wordless shot of her in the council chamber can't really resolve. Which leads me to
Piltover-Zaun
I have to admit I don't think the class politics in s1 are as good as they were reported to be, so I didn't have high hopes, but MAN is Piltover going "hey we need cannon fodder <3 thanks" not... a reasonable resolution... especially after an indeterminate time of Piltover being EVEN MORE oppressive with Caitlyn enforcing martial law. It was sooooooooo ridiculous. Also, lol @ the show acting like hextech is solely responsible for the suffering of the undercity. If only Vi, Jayce and Viktor weren't around we'd have a equitable utopia. Sure Jan.
Sky
One of the most offensively written female characters I've seen in recent media. A spectacular, zero-effort failure from the writers. What a horrible decision to write this poor girl, a Black woman no less, and give her absolutely no characterization outside of an unrequited crush on a gay white man. In season 1 I could forgive most of it because a show like Arcane needs redshirts and it's just unfortunate they made this particular redshirt a young Black woman. There are so many other complex and developed women in the show, I thought, they can afford to have some minor ones who aren't.
But oh my god season 2. The ghost hallucination which they never even clarify as being "really" Sky or just being the Hexcore or just being his own imagination of guilt because neither the show nor Viktor give enough of a fuck to explain fhglakhdglh. Even posthumously she barely has any dialogue except to reference off-screen conversations with Viktor we never see them have and then die again. "No you won't" ?????? It is ridiculous that they wrote this.

why I think meljay has more potential than jayvik (I view them as platonic friends) and my thoughts on season 2
Mel is a strong and developed character, and so is Jayace. They look very good together, people love them and listen to their opinions. While Victor is more closed off and oftenly irritated unlike Jayce.
Jayce shows Mel a love that requires nothing in return and a genuineness that keeps her interested and makes her think about giving herself a chance at love.
Jayce respects Mel, and in turn Mel respects Jayce they have an equal relationship.
Mel is one of the few people Jace looks to for care and support in times of crisis. While Victor and Jayce often share misunderstandings.
Jayce didn't stay with Victor out of great love, but simply out of guilt. I'm sure that if he had been a little selfish, he would have let himself stay with the love of his life.
Jayce and Victor shared a dream, while Mel and Jayce shared a sincere romantic love.
I am very disappointed with the second season, especially the last three episodes, because I thought we would see further development of the Meljay as a couple, I would have liked to see their relationship getting stronger and stronger.
I really expected Jayce to defeat Victor and come back alive to his family, Cait and Mel.
Also I'm really angry at Jayce's behavior towards Mel when he found out she was a mage.
Instead of hugging his girlfriend after being where the fuck she was, asking what happened to her, he blamed her for saving only him and not everyone (especially Victor 🤡).
Mel loves him dearly and saved his ass for the second time and this is how grateful he is?
Okay, he apologized afterwards, but after they didn't even interact in any normal way. Jace just left her alone, and I understand that the war was hard on Jayce, but that didn't stop him from thinking about Victor.
I think the Meljay relationship was thrown under the bus
Jayce, who I loved as a character, would never do that to the girl he loves.
Jayvik is just fanservice for little girls who like to dream about gay relationships. Meljay is a canon couple who were perfect for each other. Well as always we see that true love in the media is constantly being sacrificed for more views and fans.
That's all I have to say.

How would the companions (minus longfellow) act with a Deaf/HOH Sole Survivor ?
I made this because silly and my sole survivor is half deaf :))
Preston
Preston already has a concept of signed gestures and hearing loss, from trying to communicate around artillery or in battle. He’s even met Deaf/HOH settlers before, but never before has he travelled with someone who couldn’t hear. It takes him a bit to get the hang of communication, learning conversational signs from Sole and making sure he’s in clear view when he talks if they lip read. That being said, it doesn’t change much, he still sees them as that leadership role the minuteman need. He ends up getting Sole to teach passing minutemen signs so they can communicate or trying to teach them all himself once he becomes more fluent.
Deacon
He’s hesitant at first, after all if you can’t hear yourself you gotta be loud as all hell. When Sole proves they can be stealthy though, he changes his tune. They both sign often to keep conversations more secretive and he’ll act as ‘interpreter’ on missions so he can pass by with less attention.
Hancock
Hancock has DEFINITELY met a Deaf traveler before, I mean it’s Goodneighbor. I think he would communicate with writing things, whether on dirt or walls or any available paper. Now that he’s traveling with Sole though, he’s trying to learn so he can communicate easier with anyone passing through Goodneighbor. (Though I think he’s definitely the guy who wants to learn curses and phallic words first).
Strong
He surprisingly doesn’t immediately hate them for it. But he will get frustrated when Sole don’t respond. he eventually figures out that they’ve been signing to him and their responses are all half guesses. He thinks about leaving but then remembers that they’ve lived this long without hearing ANYTHING (this is untrue, you may be able to hear something but he doesn’t know that). So he stays with Sole a bit longer, relying on gestures and lip reading if they can. They both learn that his big hands don’t make great signing and he gives up on learning anything expressive and slowing learns receptively by watching them.
Curie
Curie finds it fascinating, but not surprising that Sole can survive out here. She likes watching them and studying how they function in the world without hearing. When she’s still a nanny bot she very easily learns receptive sign, but when she gets her new body she’s ecstatic to use it for herself and quickly takes to signing back to Sole. She’s a quick stumbling kind of signer though so she can be hard to understand.
Cait
Cait and Tommy are super fucking confused when the person who killed every raider in the combat zone doesn’t respond at first. Her first impression is that they were stupid or playing a joke, she’s never met a Deaf person before. When she and Sole first travel together she finds the ‘what’s, ‘huh’s, confused faces, and or lack of responses extremely annoying. As they travel together though and she starts to realize they really view her as a person she’ll apologize. She never really gets good at sign but she’ll sign small things to you and struggle to understand when Sole signs back.
Maccready
This guy also already has a concept of sign. But not conversational in the slightest, still, he takes to it like a duck on water. He’s probably ending up the easiest to sign to (other than like Nick) because he ends up focusing on learning sign for like a few months straight and is using it constantly after. He does tell Sole that he wants to teach Duncan when he sees him again or get word passed on to his old home since it could prove useful to Deaf and hearing kids.
Gage
He’s a bit confused at first, and in all honesty considers leaving them in that ratty ass bumper car room, but he remembers that they need a new overboss and it’s not like they haven’t had people with hearing loss in the raiders gangs before. He finds most of the things they do pretty normal, like lipreading and being extra vigilant, hearing can be hard, and words muddle together, it only makes sense that you’d watch someone’s mouth to know what they’re saying- wait that’s not normal? Huh, maybe the years of explosions and gunfire are getting to him.
He does end up learning sign and finds it a lot easier then verbal communication
Nick
Nick is already fluent, he knows what Deaf people are from his past memories. He doesn’t even realize he knows sign until him and Sole are talking and he ends up enjoying travelling with them. Nothing much really changed about your relationship. The Kellogg case does become more difficult since they can’t hear him in the memory den
Codsworth
He was with Sole pre war and due to his programming he already understands signing but can’t sign back. He mostly just points and stuff.
Piper
Thank god for Piper. Due to the speaker entrance chances are Sole wouldn’t get into Diamond City unassisted. But with Piper’s scheme they both got in with ease. She realizes there’s something up immediately and when Sole tells her about their hearing she immediately tries an interview. This of course does not go well. As they travel together she tries to pick up sign but never gets good at it. One thing Sole misses out on are her yap sessions. Don’t get me wrong, she still has them, but they both know that there’s no way in hell that Sole is understanding most of what she’s saying.
Dogmeat
Honestly, he probably won’t notice at first, he protects Sole the same and unless they’re nonverbal he’s probably gonna take awhile. He might just think they’re quiet. After some time though Dogmeat will start listening to and watching for signed command and instead of baking to alert them he’ll paw at their foot or jump and try to catch their attention if he’s too far away and still in view. They both work out pretty well, he’s a good dog.
Ada
Ada has never met a Deaf person and Sole cannot read Ada’s lips so it’s a struggle. They eventually get a similar relationship to the one Sole would have with Strong.
X6-88
What the fuck is this hand language, why is Father not like this? How is this person still alive? So many questions. He’s never met a Deaf person and no one’s told him, they’ve had broken synths who can’t hear, is that the same? He asks a lot of questions, some uncomfortable or kind of rude and honestly sucks at first, but once he gets to know them and realize he’s getting closer to Sole, he apologizes and tones it down. He ends up taking to sign pretty well and realizes how useful it is in day to day as well as battle. He ends up acting as an interpreter if Sole lets him.
Danse
At first he thinks they aren’t listening on purpose, then realizes what’s actually going on. He’s never met a Deaf traveler. Being already bad with people this makes him anxious, which comes off as aggression, but he realizes how much easier it is to be around them. He doesn’t take part in small talk and takes to sign pretty well. Similar to X6-88 he’ll probably ask a lot of questions, some being a bit rude. Though, at least he’ll have shame when asking these at least.

How do you th>no the fo4 companions would react to sole survivor using all of the junk that the companions called trash to build a bed or something?
A/N: Thank you so much for the request! I hope you enjoy! 🥰
Cait - "Well, at least you didn't make me lug all that crap around for no reason at all. It turned out at least a little useful."
Curie - "Madame... Goodness me, you are quite the scientist indeed! Or perhaps engineer would be a better word to describe your miraculous work!"
Piper - "Wow, Blue! I promise I'll never say another word about your junk-collecting for as long as I live. Unfortunately for you, however, now that I know exactly what you can do, you're never getting out of making me that new printing press. Muahaha!"
MacCready - "Huh. All that junk actually can be used for something..."
Deacon - "Okay, so I'm going to give you a pack of cigarettes, a desk fan, and toenail clippers. Your mission: make a chair."
Codsworth - "My, my, Miss F!Sole, I knew you were talented but this is truly ingenious craftsmanship! Sir would be so proud!!! I now see where young Shaun gets his talent in tinkering!"
Hancock - "You teach the boys back at Goodneighbor to do that, and I'll pay you ten-thousand caps right then. Full amount."
Danse - "I... wow... I apologize for making any negative comments about your garbage-collecting habits. You are truly talented."
Preston - "I knew there was a reason I asked you to be our general. Nobody I know could pull off something this."
Valentine - "Kid... You're one mystery that I might just fail at solving..."
X6-88 - "As... impressive... as it might be that you used those few strange items to make something half-usable, there is really no reason to use garbage to build things. At least not when the Institute has professionally manufactured, clean versions of those same things."
Dogmeat - Is not surprised. After all, he never doubts the amazing powers of his human who can do absolutely anything she sets her mind to. So when she makes him a doghouse, he is unsurprised but very thankful nevertheless.
Strong - "Tiny human make bed out of junk?! Tiny human must have used milk of human kindness!!! WHY TINY HUMAN KEEP MILK SECRET FROM STRONG???!!!"
ADA - "I am very pleased to see all of my findings coming in handy, ma'am. I will continue looking for more useful items."

as soon as i finished s2 of arcane i knew i wanted to hear your takes on it. any opinions as to how they handled caitlyn’s arc, vi’s story, and the development of s2? i would love to hear anything you have to say about this season!!
also - the end of this season has me scouring Ao3 for some fics to fill the void. have you had any recent one shot or fic ideas now that the show has ended? i’ve been dying for a hurt/comfort and really soft sex type of story for cait and vi. maybe something where cait is taking care of vi after the events of 206? lord knows they could both use the comfort and vi deserves to be loved and taken care of. i know you would write that beautifully.
or if you have any recs for fics along those lines? 👀
as always, thanks for your incredible work both inside and outside of fandoms! love hearing from you! <3
Omg hiii! I appreciate that you care what I think haha!
Let me preface this by saying that the criticisms I have for the writing of s2 does not take away the love I have for this show and what it's done for animation as a medium.
Now, with that said...
S2 was a mess.
I said this on twitter, but I think the writers had a lot of ambition — too much ambition — for the amount of episodes they had to wrap this story up cohesively. This AMAZING show suffered because of corporate greed and not having enough time to flesh out character arcs and plots from s1. I think it started off promising. I was really excited to see how they would handle the Zaun/Piltover conflict, Vi's journey toward healing and forgiving herself for her past mistakes, Jinx's descent and then return as a hero, as well as Caitlyn's descent and redemption arc.
Instead we got... that.
There's one word that keeps twirling around in my head: commitment.
The writers lacked commitment (and a diverse writing room) to properly handle the Piltover/Zaun conflict. S1 had such a good starting point, whereas in S2 it's like they diverged from the path and forgot the finish line existed. Sitting Sevika at a table with her oppressors who will most likely tune her out and outvote her on everything is NOT a solution. Why not a complete overhaul of the council? Make it an even split? Instead it's the same people who never gave a fuck in the first place, and Sevika, who helped get half of the population of Zaun hooked on shimmer in the first place. Like what???
They failed to commit to Caitlyn's villain/dictator era. When episode 3 happened, I was skeptical about how they would handle it. And after watching the entire season, I had every right to feel that way. They make her so unapologetic and blasé about gassing Zaunites and letting Ambessa unlawfully arrest people. That's not my Cait from season 1. Does grief change people? Absolutely! But once it settles, you should be able to look back on what you've done and feel remorseful. Cait's lack of remorse was jarring. Her inability to apologize or outwardly own up to everything she did was OOC. You know what could've been the perfect moment for that? When Jayce gathered Piltover and Zaun in that room and she was standing right across from them. Why not have Sevika or Scar call her ass out and hold her feet to the fire? Lay out the facts of what her grief looked like to the innocent people of Zaun who had nothing to do with it? That would've been the perfect time for her to say something.
They failed to commit to Jinx and her story as a whole. At its core, this show was centered around two sisters growing up impoverished and oppressed, constantly separated, but always finding their way back to each other. Jinx is such a heartbreaking character used for trauma porn. Episode 6 fucked me up so badly but I THOUGHT it would lead to something big for her character. Like her stepping into this unwilling hero role and working with Ekko to lead Zaun into a better future like the one Ekko saw in episode 7. BUT LOL NOPE. Instead she's suicidal and self harming while her sister is fucking the oppressor in a prison cell. DA FUCK?
And lastly they failed Vi's character in every possible way. From putting on the badge in the first place to not exploring the depth of her character. She's basically a passenger in s2. Has no agency. Used as a punching bag (literally). And treated as an afterthought. I'm so pissed. There should've been a lot of conflict in act 1 between her and Cait. You mean to tell me Vi, who HATES enforcers. would willingly let her situationship gas her people? Fuck no. Absolutely not. It does not make sense, narratively speaking. Her ending did not make me hopeful. Even if Jinx is alive and moving on from Vi to "break the cycle" that does nothing for Vi's character. She is without family once again, and I fear it would lead to an unhealthy codependent relationship with Cait. Like she'll never be able to voice opposing thoughts or feelings without fear of Cait leaving her AGAIN.
As for the Caitvi relationship. This is tough. On one hand, I was happy to see a lesbian s*x scene in animation for an awarded television show. But on a heavier hand, it rings hollow after everything I've said. Much like the Piltover/Zaun story, Caitvi had a good starting point in season 1. I did have my issues with it because, as a Black woman, seeing someone oppressed get with a cop does nothing for me. But I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt because I believed the writers knew what they were doing. But I was wrong again. CaitVi is unfortunately one of the weakest points of S2. The writers did not COMMIT to their conflict. It's barely glossed over and then Caitlyn gets rewarded with s*x. And this is why I could never commit to them as a couple. At least not in canon. I liked them in s1 and the idea of what they could've been to each other in s2. And it looks like I'm going to have to find that elsewhere, unfortunately.
Overall, it all comes back to what I said in the beginning: lack of time, a diverse writing room, and corporate greed. I'm disappointed, but unfortunately not surprised. I hope the writers can learn from their mistakes moving forward.
As for fanfiction, I have actually not read any yet! So I don't have any recommendations for you. I need some for myself! I'll get back to you if I find any good ones.
Sorry for the lengthy post! I really just needed to get this all out and I feel so much better.
