I miss when they used to design parodies of celebrities with realistic heads slapped onto regular cartoony bodies. Actual comedy gold. Giggling everytime they move their eyes or pause to change their expression.

Uhh I don’t have much to post right now so take this for now

I’m trying to figure out a design for another sona… This is ML, (name not final). This lil dude has… quite a mix of genes.

Basic stuff:

(take into account that he’s(it’s?) drawn in my more cartoony/angular style instead of the semi realistic one, meaning that for example his eyes would be smaller if drawn realistically).

Let’s see… he has a very small, free-floating, rudimentary collarbone/clavicle, allowing for more flexibility and agility, and as ML is mainly quadrupedal. obviously I had to add retractable claws because they are EPIC- anyways, this is useful for keeping them from getting dull, as they won’t be constantly in contact with the surface he is on. This also allows for less noise to be made when moving, since the claws won’t tap on the ground as he moves. Unlike a cat’s claws, though, they have a different mechanism to protract.

ML’s large pupils that can contract and dilate by a very significant amount are useful for seeing properly in different types of lighting without damaging the retina, as well as aiding in his exceptional night vision- which is also accompanied by a tapetum lucidum (the reflective layer of tissue that some animals have right behind the retina, that reflects visible light back through it, increasing the light detected by the photoreceptors.) and a larger cornea, amongst other things.

in a bipedal stance, (which is uncommon even though ML’s legs are strong enough to be in that position for a sufficient amount of time), ML will stand on the tips of his toes. This is a bit more of a preference though, as it would be perfectly fine for him to walk plantigrade due to the length of his feet. although, being like this does add a little spring in his step. In this stance he also always keeps his arms and hands bent close to his body when not in use.

ML’s senses are enhanced by a pair whiskers on his head, which help him detect various types of stimuli acutely. For example, they help detect the slightest changes in temperature, pick up on tiny vibrations in the air to alert ML of the movement of any creature in the environment, and even help with his vision!

He possesses a slender, reptilian-like tail that helps with balance, and that acts as an extra grip when climbing.

I am definitely forgetting something that I want to add here and when I post this I am going to remember but it will be too late and I am going to be pissed at myself for the rest of the night. o-o

ragatha beckons me towards her, clearly having noticed something.

“..jax.. do you see that..?” she asks, her eye glued to a particularly dark room, which appeared to have a tiny, white light coming from it. one that somehow didn’t illuminate the rest of the area, which was pitch black. “do you think you could go in there, and check it out? it might be-“

not even letting her finish, i push her far into the door, letting the abyss completely swallow her up. a scream immediately followed.

“HAH-!! next time, don’t tell me what to do, dollface.”

but, there’s no reply.

“rags?”

silence.

“ragatha? you good?”

i tilt my head for a moment, my foot rapidly tapping on it’s own. but, there’s still no response. not even a whisper.

staying silent, i listen out; eventually picking up on some sniffles. i hesitate a moment, before stepping into the room, calling her name out a few more times, waiting a few seconds in-between.

“over here-“ shakily, she responds and immediately, my head turns to the left involuntarily, where i can vaguely see a silhouette, resembling the ragdoll, trembling, sat propped against a wall.

“god, you almost scared me. almost.” i say, to which she laughs, though, that laugh quickly transitions to stifled sobs, “what’re you crying for-? what happened?”

i walk towards her, sitting down next to her. i can barely see her, but, i make out her holding her arm, tight. almost protectively.

“i’m fine, i’m fine—!” the words rush to get out of her, her voice an octave higher than normal.

“don’t bulls**t me, rags.” i retort, and, without thinking, i pick her up, throwing her body over my shoulder as we slowly, carefully leave the room and as soon as we’re in the light again, i set her down on a nearby chair, a dark brown one, layered with a red cushion. she grimaces, leaning back against the chair. taking her arm in my hand, i inspect it, a large, gaping tear in it, stuffing poking out of it. “caught it in something?”

she nods, refusing to meet my eyes as a shuddered breath makes it’s way out of her chest, “i’ll be okay, once the adventure’s over, caine will be able to fix me up-“

“yeah, but that doesn’t change the fact that you’re-“ i pause, choosing my words carefully. “whatever. look, i’m.. sorry.” the word didn’t feel right on my tongue, as if it was from a language from planets away.

her pained expression leaves for a moment, as she stares me dead in the eyes, completely dumbfounded. “you’re sorry? i think i misheard-“

“don’t push it, doll.”

she nods, before inspecting the wound on her upper arm, hesitantly touching it.

“ah-“ ragatha immediately pulls away. how is she even surprised-?

“don’t touch it-?! are you stupid or something?” i snap, holding the hand from her uninjured arm, and pulling it back to her side, before reaching up, and touching her face.

she leans into the touch, closing her eyes. her stupid eye, and i take in her appearance properly for the first time.. possibly ever.

and, yet, somehow, it’s sorta endearing.

Rafayel's chin lands roughly on your shoulder as he leans over the couch to see what you’re doing. Not enough to hurt (much), but definitely enough to jostle the stylus in your hand. You sigh as you tap the tablet screen to undo the messed up line.

"You couldn't let me finish lining this before bugging me?"

"I thought about it." He leans further over the couch, wrapping his arms around you as he presses his weight onto you. You groan under the pressure. "But bugging you is just too much fun."

You reach back with the stylus to poke his side. He hisses and stops leaning on you. Instead, he comes around to plop directly into your side. You roll your eyes. How are you supposed to draw when he's clinging to you like this?

"Hey! Take that back! How could you ever think to compare me to those monsters?"

You nudge him slightly. He whines, but moves so you can lean back against him, no longer in your way. His arms are back around you, being careful not to accidentally mess up your work by touching your screen. His face is tucked against your neck.

"What're you making anyway?"

You go back to drawing the lineart of your piece. The fluid motions and smooth lines always mesmerize Rafayel. His work is abstract or realistic, color on color being the only barrier between objects. Your work is illustrative, and can range from semi-realistic to cartoony. He'd even seen you remake one of his paintings before, each brushstroke putting into mind the actual physical work, despite only being digital. It was impressive.

You zoom out for a second to show him the full picture. A badass-looking Hunter is facing up against a Wanderer. Your low-opacity sketch layers peek out from behind the black outlines. "I got commissioned to illustrate a children's book. Oh, here, lemme show you what I've got so far."

Your fingers excitedly tap around the screen, leading him eventually to a folder full of drawing after drawing. Some of them are just sketches where you tried to figure out a style. A majority of them are inked already, outlined and ready to be colored. A couple are already colored, but it’s splotchy, just to play around with colors you could present to your client. Even without the story to follow, he can begin to piece together the events of the book, up to the drawing you work on now.

I’M SO SORRY THIS GOT COMPLETELY LOST IN MY ASKS I JUST FOUND IT 😭😭😭

Uhhh okay ramble time!

Normally when I draw slugcats I draw two circles, one for the head and one for the legs. The base of the tail is the bottom circle, I use that to make sure the tails are always at a realistic size and position. Each slugcat has a different body type, but the tail rule will be the same for all of them, as you can see in the little sketchy line-up thingy at the bottom. For more complex poses I draw two ovals inside the circle where the legs are, just so they stay about the same size and stuff, and I just throw the arms on the side, I don’t really do shoulders for slugcats lol. My biggest tip is just to make sure all your designs are distinctive from one another by something other than their colour- give them all a different body type, eye shape, ear shape whatever. I’ve seen a few styles (that are all great ofc) where all the scugs have very similar outlines and it’s often hard to tell who’s who without the colours. But yeah you do you, this is just how I draw the scugs lol. I normally spend more effort on the expressions than the bodies anyway haha, I have a pretty cartoony style.

I am not happy about the new toothless design. I am going to call him dorkless. Because what the fuck is this.

He looks like a flat-skinned scaleless thing. I don't care if the lighting can make him look prettier. He still looks like some scaleless, elephantine, flat-faced something.

I'm supposed to be comparing these two and I'm sorry. The fucking cartoon looks more realistic than whatever the hell that thing is.

There is something wrong here.

Yes toothless has realistic skin or whatever. Yes he's got defined muscles or something. But in this weird fashion. Toothless looks two cartoony for this realistic movie.

And it's not that I'm wigging out about the fact that just toothless looks weird. Or that the other dragons probably look just as weird. I think the other dragons actually have redesigns!!

These pictures are of course very blurry and hard to read. Mostly because this entire scene goes by so fucking fast. But these are images of what I believe are a Monstrous Nightmare, Nadder, Terrible Terror, and Zippleback. And all of these designs look new.

The Monstrous Nightmare doesn't have ridiculously skinny proportions. The Nadder looks a bit more parrot-like. The Terrible Terror I barely recognized. And the Zippleback definitely has a much different and more defined face. It's not like they couldn't go through the effort.

Toothless's design is already the most realistic out of the cartoon depictions. But it is still a cartoon depiction. Parts of his body are supposed to be made to be stretched and squished. His face is a cartoonistic over expression fest. And yet I feel like they did nothing to the previous model. It feels like a copy and paste.

Like they clearly done something but it's just not enough something. Removing away a cartoonistic way of walking doesn't make a design anymore or less cartoonistic. Not only does it feel like they removed half of what made toothless look like toothless. Which for me is his back spikes and his emotive "ears". They seem to have sticked so close to the original model that it looks off in some scenes.

There are certain steps for realistic stuff that can be taken. But I feel like they've taken the steps wrong for toothless. Especially if the other dragons are redesigned. Toothless is going to actually look out of place among the others. Which while toothless was already somewhat out of place. He wasn't out of place design wise and that's going to be bad If he is here.

In my honest opinion they need to redo the scales on his face. They are far too small. It is not impossible to have different sizes of scales across the same area. It also feels like there's some weird issue between the eye and the eyelid. They are merging together far too much. Also where the hell are his little hanging doohickeys everywhere? Not only does it feel like some of his little ear things are diminished. But his back spikes, his arm spikes, hell even his tail spikes seem to either be completely gone or reduced to a point where you can't see them. I don't care how unrealistic they are. That made up so much of toothless's personality being even able to emote with his back. Toothless looks too Barbie flat right now.

I really hate that they've settled on this weird... Scientifically more realistic, but still as emotive as a cartoon creature. Those two facts don't mix together. It leads into the uncanny valley and that's a bad place to stoop to if that's not what you're planning to do. You can't have your squatch and stretch face and yet remove all the cartoonistic qualities from the body.

I really hope we're not stuck with this toothless because the other dragons designs do look really cool. They look like a realistic redesign. And it's just toothless that looks off. I hope they can quickly throw together a new model and have the same rig. I can handle a cartoonistic face if he can get his cartoonistic traits back. Otherwise please go back. And maybe take a note from How to train your Dragon live spectacular. Which did a realistic toothless.

And even if my every definition this is a fucking puppet instead of CGI or whatever. These creative directors went through the process of trying to think what a realistic toothless would actually look like. And they don't remove any of the features that make toothless feel like toothless. So I really hope they take some notes from this spectacular's page.

Because dear God. This is not the same emotion.

does akita hate herself for being organic? how does she cope with the reality of being different?

I think she thinks that she was born into the wrong body. She feels like she should have been a drone instead of this flesh meat creature who has the porportions of one (humans tend to lean to the realistic side on MD, Akita would have the same cartoony body shape as a drone).

Akita doesn't handle it well. She's already DNA-wise based off Uzi's figure, and that's something she consciously leans into. Her hair's the same color as Uzi's and she's tried to style it similarly to her too. Keyword "tried", the result gives her Cyn-esque bangs (though admittedly, the specific style is technically Lizzy's)*. The standard Worker helmet and jacket fits her pretty well and the leg/armwarmers are supposed to give a segmented look like a Worker's limbs are (doubles as a stand in for Uzi's socks). I haven't actually addressed this in the fic yet (next chapter), but Uzi going Solver-mode made her body cannibalize the DD tail she and N grafted onto her, so Uzi doesn't have it anymore. Akita doesn't try hiding her tail to look more like Uzi because she likes her dad and wants to keep hers out because he does (even if N can't hide it like Uzi can - he's also the reason why the extra eyes that would've grown in on her tail instead grew in like his, Akita's weak shapeshifty(?) ability did that because she likes her dad and his weird eyes).

Aside from looking more like a drone, she tries to act more like one too. Trying to deny that she's any different than one. Forgets that she's not industrial machinery in situations where that's kind of important. Kind of like a reverse Pinocchio thing. There's a scene from the movie AI where a robot eats food because they want to be human and this naturally breaks them, I kinda wanna do a scene like that with Akita. Been thinking about it. That kinda stuff.

Got other stuff in mind with this too, but that's better saved for when we get there in the fic.

* Actually an intentional detail. Uzi and Cyn's bangs are pretty similar, just unfortunate that the tweak I gave Akita's just makes it Lizzy's bangs instead :( Maybe for the best since I want Akita and Lizzy to bond

Games to use for face claim + designing dr houses, waiting room, etc

Life Simulation are great to well…simulate your dr and offer visuals for your shifiting script. I did a post like this in the past, it was one of my very first one, so I thought I would update it.

I just tried it and it’s kind of what prompted this post. it’s great, more on the hyper realistic side, except the eyebrows colour on the female character wouldn’t change colour in my game but for the male model, it was working fine ? I have no idea how it works, but this is just a demo, not the final game. For some reason I couldn’t change the features on the child model either, I tried to do my younger siblings and nothing was moving.

The different life stages are here (no teens and no toddlers though but there are three adult life stages) and i thought the elderly looked really great. I definitely encourage you to try while the demo is on. You can see below my attempt at my dr Dad and grandma (I did try to do me, but the dark eyebrows are throwing me off, especially because I have close to no eyebrows irl)

The demo is just the character creation but I think the build mode for apartment and house might just dethrone the sims 4 for me. Although i love making fantasy houses with the sims so maybe not.

But I saw a video about the build mode and apparently you will have the ability to scan in 3D objects in your house and put them in the game, which sounds absolutely crazy !

I will also just mention paralives here, who looks interesting especially the building mode, but it’s not out yet when I’m writing this.

- the sims 4

As long as you are ok with the cartoonish style, I think it’s still a good option. Especially since mods exist and there is a way to make your sims look hyper realistic with them. Normally I don’t like alpha ccs personally , but If the goal is to make a face claim/ body claim and you don’t care your sim looks off with the rest of the game, why not?

I love building in the sims 4, i didn’t build anything in a while though. I always recommend downloading the base game since it’s free and download cc, there are tons of good one. The expansion packs are so expensive and often not worth the full price imo, especially if you’re like me and not really interested in playing in life mode.

I do think it’s a fun way to channel your dr though, by seeing how your dr sims interact with each other ( I did it for a little bit, got a lot of unexpected things happening)

- Life Makeover

The game is free, as long as you’re not weak with gacha games. I don’t spend too much, because I feel like there is enough possibilities with the outfits you gain by playing, so I’m fine not finishing limited sets. The last mermaid set was a close one, ngl but the universe heard my prayers and I got the mermaid tail with the gems I already had, so I’m not paying to pull more.

Anyway, the character creation is the best one I know. The style is in between realism and cartoony. My profile picture is made with that game. Bigger, animated like eyes look better on the character in my opinion, but I definitely saw very realistic looking characters made by people more talented than me lol. It’s one of the only game I own where I can make myself pointy elf ears and it’s very important to me lol.

Only down side for face claim is there is no male model. Then again, there is always way to work around it by making the character look more androgynous (kind of unrelated but I think there would be a market for male dress up games, they should think about it)

The big plus though is to get inspiration for your dr wardrobe ! I might have spent a whole day screenshotting my favourites piece of clothes + styling some outfits to put into my script 😂

I think it’s especially great for idol / K-pop or even celebrity dr with the style of the outfits, there is also things that would work for a fantasy/royalty dr.

Since I am talking about my addiction for dress up games once again, for fantasy outfits I also use Shining Nikki, but it doesn’t have a character creation which is why it’s not officially on this list.

Surprisingly, there is also a house building mode, which looks really great imo but definitely more limited than the sims (doing cool roofing is a nightmare in this game because the roof doesn’t disappear inside a room like it does in the sims 🥲) . Now, I’m starting with games I haven’t tried yet. Baldur gates is on my list but I’m waiting to have money to spend for it, and to have time to spend hours obsessing over a new game, which I don’t really have either right now 😂

The character creator looks incredible for fantasy drs. This is the kind of game where you spend a whole day in the character creator before you actually play.

literally any fantasy races you could think of is there, I think there are mods that add more too. I love how versatile it looks, there are a lot of skin tones, horns, lizards guys (I’m not familiar with dnd races, I’m sorry) I saw wings too but that might have been mod

I don’t have a computer, don’t have the money for the kind I would need, the steam deck was a much more affordable option for my games, but unfortunately the steam deck doesn’t take in charge this particular game, I don’t really know why, it wouldn’t even let me try to download it anyway, like I had to do with Inzoi.

In any case, you can see the face claim of Elizabeth on her post, and it looks incredible so I still wanted to include it in the list ^^

Personally, Pinterest is not enough for me. I think it’s my autistic brain but I need to have a clear idea of the space I live in my drs, and find that having a 3D representation of the space really helps. When I get into meditation, I then get very real images about my drs in those spaces. Same goes for people, I create a representation and then can get vivid images about them in my head.

How did you come up with your current style ? Was it something you searched to developp or did it come naturaly ? If it's the first option, what made you stylize it like this ? Do you have any idea what I could do to stylize my own art ?

I am a somewhat semi-realistic artist (still learning a lot though) and was searching to also developp a more cartoony style like yours alongside it, so I would appreciate some help to understand what to do.

Hello. ^^ Thank you for the detailed ask and taking your time out to write it 🙇‍♂️.

I developed my current art style through a combination of both exploration (“naturally”) and it being something I searched to develop. In my head, I always wanted to adopt a sharper, blockier art style with bright colours. I was inspired by a lot of different styles, but most importantly I was pursuing an aesthetic I liked.

[1] Trying to introduce new elements in your art takes time, but it was mostly me staring/spending a lot of time looking at people’s art works that I enjoyed. The more you look at the things you like, the clearer the image you have of it is in your mind, so it would be easier to replicate it. The idea is to study what elements you like exactly in a style and then slowly try to transfer them into your own works. Your current style will eventually merge with it to form something that is unique. 🤔

If you are having trouble keeping the image that you want to recreate in your mental space, you can always put your canvas side by side to the thing you want to replicate, if that makes sense. Observing things you like and then devoting time to it was what helped me a lot, but patience tends to get you far in general.

[2] Stylising your own art requires a lot of trial and error. In addition to observing other people’s works, you need to have somewhat of an idea of how things can look like in your own works. If you like something with bright colours, the bright colours you choose for your own work may feel inappropriate or out of place simply because they haven’t been adjusted to your liking yet. A lot about art style is really adjusting things to your own tastes while keeping the courage to experiment. Since you have a semi-realistic style and want a more cartoony one, the idea is to squash/reduce elements of realism and increase the use of shapes that stand out.

^ For example, you can see from this style that the characters have larger, round and doll-like heads, and the colours used to fill them aren’t at all that realistic or “balanced”, more so abstract and played around with (observe how Homura’s leggings are a mixture of blue that bleed to red). If Homura was drawn “realistically”, she would instead have normal colours and her usual palette scheme that don’t seem to jump everywhere. The characters’ anatomy are also simplified, smaller and easier to shape.

The style I have is mainly reducing details on the character and exaggerating their appearance with shapes or certain features. You can choose to make their eyes look more dramatic and detailed, for example, compared to the rest of their bodies. In fact, one way of making things look detailed in a cartoon style is by grouping large shapes together for them to resemble something. You could draw rectangles for fingers and that would still be understood as long as they’re arranged in a way that gives off that impression, not necessarily being a 1:1 real life replica of it.

[3] Overall, experimenting with colours and shapes are important to the style, but it’s not something you have to simply focus on. You can make something look cartoon even just by making the composition look dramatic, which isn’t limited to colours nor shape, but more on your sense of “space” in a drawing.

In summary: you have to first know what you’re inspired by, and then work towards it at your own pace. Attempt to replicate those elements in things you like by observing them and then transferring them onto your own works. Playing with shapes and colours, exaggerating or minimising proportions and anatomy can give you different results, although it may not seem satisfactory at first. The most important thing to developing your style, ultimately, is still giving yourself time and spending time with the things you like o(^-^)o. You can’t exactly rush out a style, so please enjoy the process of drawing!!

The Boy stormed out of Able's office after a long and boring lecture about "proper classroom etiquette" and "Treating others how you want to be treated" So stupid... He's definitely never going back to school again

Enock: Hi...

Enock was timidly waiting for The Boy outside

The Boy: What?

Enock: Umm... I- um.. I wanted to- umm...

The Boy: Ugh, Spit it out man!

Enock: Umm.... I thought you were really funny... and... I wanted to give you something...

Enock nervously, he gives him a folded piece of paper, The Boy rolled his eye and grabbed the paper from him

He unfolded the paper and saw a drawing in crayon of him with small angel wings and a halo, it was simple and scratchly drawn in green pen, the drawing itself looked a bit strange, the eye was drawn in a realistically oval shape contrasted to the boy's cartoony circled shaped one, He gazed at the image, examining every doodle surrounding the Strange depiction of the Boy, He could feel his Eye start to water

He started tearing up

Enock: I-I did I do something wrong?? Is it the Artstyle??

The Boy: No... its fine... thanks dude...

Enock: do... do you... wanna play?

The Boy: Uh... sure!

Later, Enock took the boy to a long hall in the circus, unlike the Brightly colored circus, it was cute and pastel, calming yet fun, Doors where placed along side of the pastel walls each having the face and name of the pals on them, on the end of the hallway, right was a Orange colored door in a wacky shape, Enock's picture and Name on it as well as stickers and glitter plastered all over it

Enock: dishes myoom!! I decorated it with pretty stuff! Cool right? Qwerty said it was childish but my mom and dad really likes it!!

The Boy: Wah- Huh- um cool

Enock opened the door and led The Boy inside

It was a spacious room with striped walls and decorated with Drawings, photos and random decor, plushies and toys were everywhere, a small doghouse was sitting against a wall with balloon dog (giraffe?) Was sleeping peacefully, in the corner was a small twin sized bed ridden with plushies and colorful pillows, opposite to the door he entered was a out of place fancy looking door with stickers spread across it to make it blend in more, it was probably just a closet or something

The Boy was utterly entranced by the room like it was a world forged from his wildest dreams

The Boy: sick room dude!!

Enock: really? Forgor to clean it today

Enock: Hey! You wanna see something cool?? I always wanted to show it to someone

The Boy: Okay, hit it

He sit down on the floor

Enock: Okay, here it goes...

Immediately, Enock's body started to morph, he rapidly grew five new pairs of arms and legs, his torso split and his head went into the new cavity, he started levitating in the air

Enock: Guess wha I am!!

The Boy was equal parts gobsmacked and terrified, and a bit impressed

Enock: look Ima Sunshine!!

The Boy: Cool!!

Enock remorphed into his original form

Enock: Really? Everyone says its creepy

Enock: usually about things I like, my family, dinosaurs, sometimes death on occasions, food i like, or just random things I like!

The Boy: I always wanted to make music, I can't though, But If I could I would sing about how cool I am! Or maybe about something about dragons

Enock: I love Dragons!! My favorite are the rainbow ones!!

The Boy: I like the Big ones who have GIANT horns and Wings!!!

Enock: Golly! If I had Wings I'd fly just like my dad! And why I could visit Ms. Sun and Moon everyday!!

Enock and The Boy rambled with eachother, topics changing in a second, Enock started flailing his arms and legs and the boy bobbed his head back and forth

Enock: -Ms. Queenie is always in her garden, I like it there! Its really pretty, But she dosent like me in there she says always I step in the flowers, so I have to stare at the flowers from atleast five feet away, Marigolds are my favorite to look at, they're really, really pretty! And its my favorite color!! It also a symbolism of Death! I like death! He sure seems Lika swell guy!! He has a skull for a head lika cally-vara!! I've never had a cally-vara before, My mommy says all that sugar isn't good for me, But I really, really want to! She says I havta eat more veggies, but I don't like veggies at all! There gross, slimy, and green... Oh sorry! I didn't it like that!-

The Boy: No I totally get it! I hate veggies! They're totally gross, And I love gross things! Like, mud and swamps and green moldy cheese and bugs and barf and other stuff! But I don't like Adults, they don't like gross stuff and yell at me when I do things, I hate them!

Enock: I like some adults actually, Like momma and papa and miss sun and moon and miss Ragatha and Miss Gangle and mister miss Zooble and Mister Kinger and Queenie, I don't like Mister Jax though, He's mean to me, each is way I think Patchricia is mean to me, I'm happy my parents are nice, they're the best! My dad is super cool and Can make anything and my mom is super smart! I'm happy I have them And not other Adults, well Ms. Moon and Sun could be my parents, Miss Moon already Likes my mom and Dad and- Hey, Are you Okay?

The Boy was silent, he stopped bobbing his head and had a uncomfortable expression, they just stared at eachother awkwardly for a bit

Enock: Did... Did I ruin it?

The Boy was Still silent and looking at the ground, Enock could sense he was upset, he tired to think of something to cheer him up, and then he got a idea

Enock: Yanna see my house?? Its really cool and fun!!

The Boy: Isn't the Circus You're house?

Enock: No, nota Circus, My dad's manor!

Enock unzips one of his plushies and Grabs a key inside of it, he Goes up to the door opposite from the door they entered and unlocks it

The Boy rolled his eye Enock and the Boy stepped out of His room, Enock took his hand and guided him through the dark halls illuminated by candles sparked with crimson flames

The Boy: Oh Great, I great see your boring bourgeois house

The Boys Jaw drops when he steps out of the halls and sees a long hall draped in vibrant red, long marble pillers accented with gold stretched to ceiling, the ceiling was covered with an artistic mural of the heavens, diamond chandeliers hanged down like willow branches, Sunshine shined through the tallest stained glass windows he had ever seen, a long red velvet carpet spread out before the two childern rolling out farther than the boy could see, it looked like he stepped out of the mortal plane and into some kind of Valhalla

Enock: see? Its pretty isn't it?? This is only wonuva halls though, the actual rooms are much cooler

The Boy was silent, Astonished and completely overwhelmed by the sublime halls of the manor, Enock poked him to get a response

Enock: 大丈夫?

The Boy snapped out of his daze

The Boy: Wah- Huh- Uh.. I mean yeah its cool or whatever I guess...

The Boy tried to keep a cool and uninterested demeanor but Enock could sense he was impressed

Enock: Heyawunna seemy favorite places?

The Boy nodded his head and Enock Eagerly tugged him through the hall, Enock turned left and entered a twisted hall, it looked like it was melted and refrozen again, Enock stopped at a abstract door

Enock stepped aside urging The Boy to Open the door, The boy rolled his eye and pushed the door open, Enock then shoved him into the room

The Boy: Hey!-

Inside of falling on his face like he thought he would, he floated in the air like he was in outer space, floating furniture was scattered across the room, Enock jumped in to join the slimy boy

Enock: Dishestha Gravy Room!!

The Boy: Woah!- uh, Don't you mean Gravity?

The Boy awkwardly turned his body to face him, his jelly body hard to move in zero gravity, Enock Pushed away a full gravy boat the was floating towards him

Enock: Uhh yeah!

Enock: I like this room alot, Its really fun to pretend your flying or in space, I useto bring Qwerty in here, but they don't like it very much, But now you can play with me!! Tag!!

Enock poked his eye and flung himself from a floating table

The Boy: Hey!!

The Boy thrusted himself foward towards Enock, propelling himself like a fish in the water, Enock pushed himself against the wall dodging The Boys attempt to Tag him, they continued to play with eachother, Jumping from Floating furniture and bouncing off walls, after a while, They exited the Gravity room so they could explore more of the manor

Enock: C'mon!! I wanna show you more!!

They sprinted across the mansion, sliding down spiral stair railings and swinging from from antique chandeliers like a Jungle gym, they jumped from room to room, exploring the wacky wonders of the palace, They snacked on the walls and furniture in the candy room, explored in the Giant room, playing with the giant toys, and running from a giant soccer ball rolling towards them, bounced through the bouncey room and walked through an aquarium tunnel that was big enough to fit a blue whale, They Boy was especially estatic at seeing all the Different kinds of sharks

Enock: C'mon Greenie!! I haven't showed you the Safari Room Yet!!

The Boy: Im Coming Man! I'm still getting used to my Body!

The Two boys were running through the halls, Enock zipped past the rooms, The Boy barely being able to keep up with him with his gelatinous form, The Boy reached a fork in the road between two entrances, The right entrance emitted a soft glow, Curiously, he went right

He entered a large foyer, its colors where split down the middle, on the Side The Boy was on was bright warm red and on the opposite side in front of him was a soft blue manor, he slowly squirmed his way to the boy side

Enock: STOP!!! そこへ行かないで!!

Enock grabbed The boy and placed him on the red side of the manor

Enock: where not allowed to go on that side! My Uncle is kinda weird about his part of the house, Its boring there anyway so I don't like going there anyways, Qwertys allowed on my dads side because My dad is alot more fun than my Uncle, and also I think that My dad likes Qwerty more than My Uncle likes me, Momma says I'm being silly and that he loves me but I'm not really sure because he never wants to play with me and looks at me funny when I talk and-

Enock turned to see the boy staring up at the giant family painting placed between the red and blue side, He had a strange strange expression that Enock couldn't really identify

Enock: Hey... you al'ght?

The Boy: Im Fine....

Enock: No you're not, I can tell you're sad-

The Boy: I said Im FINE!!

Enock jumped back at the Boy's yelling, The Boy looked back at the Ground awkwardly, Enock could tell he was upset, he hated when his friends were sad, he had do to something, anything but stay here where he was upset

Enock: You... You Wanna go Play with The other Pals?

The Boy: ......

in the grounds the Pals are hanging out and play with eachother, Patchricia and Niku are playing tic-tac-toe together, Princessa and Princely are identifying bugs with eachother and was quietly Qwerty is reading a book

Patchricia: AH! I win again!

Niku: How do you keep beating me?? Are you playing a trick or something??

Patchricia: Nope, Guess im just naturally skilled!

Enock walked to join them, The boy trailing behind him

Enock: おはようございます、皆さん!!!

All of pals let out a audible groan

Qwerty: Enock, it is 4:05 pm, it is not morning anymore

Enock: I-I knew That!!

Enock twiddled his hands nervously before turning to the boy

Enock: So umm... Whattawanna play?

The Boy: I dunno, I'm done for anything

Enock: OH! OH! Can we play play space cowboys?? I never get to play that game!

Enock and the Boy were having a pretend standoff, using sticks as Laser pistols

Enock: This Spaceship ain't big enough for the both of us!!

They Boy let out a war cry and charged towards him, followed by Enock making a High pitched Screech while sprinting towards the boy, The crashed into eachother and thudded on the ground, they got off the ground and chased eachother, giggling while doing so

The Other Pals gave them passing looks, trying to ignore the loud racket the two boys where making

Enock: You're time is up Space Criminal! You can't out run the law!!

The Boy spinned around

The Boy: Well I can Out laser the Law, with this SICK @#$ HELL RAILGUN!

The boy positioned his hands to look like he was holding an invisible gun

Enock: WAIT, WAIT, WAIT! PAUSE, PAUSE! Who know what would be cooler than a pretend railgun??

The Boy cocked his head

Enock: a REAL Railgun! I can manifest it!

The Boy: You can Do that?!

Enock: Yeah!! JusHolon, I neda focus...

Enock took a deep breath and closed his eyes, he held his hands close together leaving a small space between them, The Boy watched as Enock's body strain and jitter

The Boy stared at him confused on what he was doing exactly, His confusion quickly turned to amazement when he saw a low polygon shape glitching into existence forming between his hands

The Boy: Dude!! That is Sick!!

Enock strained his body harder, beads of sweat trickling down his tooth face, he gritted his teeth together forcing all his mind power into his craft, the random pile of polygons glitched and flickered until it took on a rectangular shape, it flashed random colors it and started lighting up like a lantern, Qwerty Looked up from their book

Qwerty: ENOCK!-

In a split, A loud boom erupted throughout the the grounds, The pals were thrown violently, their screams lost amidst the chaos. Debris rained down, scattering in every direction, while dust and smoke stained the air

Slowly, they all got up, racked by the explosion and covered in dirt and smoke

Patchricia: Is everyone okay?..

Niku: ...No...

Enock crawled out of a small crater created by his attempt at creation

Enock: ugh... ....Cheesy rice...

Patchricia: ENOCK!!

Patchricia ran up to Enock, Rage filled her Cotten body

Patchricia: WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT ENOCK?! DO YOU REALISE SOMEONE COULD'VE HURT?? OR KILLED??

Enock Shrinked into himself, stroking the tendrils that dangled from his head to calm himself from the shaking panic that spread through his body

Enock: I... I didn't...

His breath hitched, tears welling up in his eyes, Niku waddled up to the Two, limping due to the pieces they lost

Niku: its not his Fault Patchy, He- He didn't know

Patchricia: I KNOW, he never means to mess things up, but he keeps doing things he KNOWS are Stupid!!

WAA Thank you !! Well the answer to that is studies, studies, and lotsa studies. Rn I'm studying Ami Thompson's work in atsv:

god it's so fucking cool i fucking love how they draw the charas. like it's the right amount of cartoony but it still has realistic proportions aiubhjghj so fucking good. (also Hobie, Miguel, Pavitr my beloveds 🥺🥺)

You can get a lot of great references in animation actually ! Expression sheets help a lot in making sure the charas stay in model when emoting, i think?? I'm not sure, but they're cool and helpful !

Sidenote:

i tried looking up expression tutorials on pinterest and there isn't a lot of it??? i found this one by Kayla Marquez, which basically boils down to 'exaggerate the expressions more', but it doesn't really tell how..? i guess by applying squash and stretch (you can actually see that in Ami's work, esp in Hobie's and Pavitr's sheets) but they do sm more than that.

I can try to explain what i personally do when drawing expressions, it's pretty lengthy so it would be under the cut:

One thing that helps me a lot when drawing expressions is I try to do it on my face. While it's best to do it looking in front of the mirror. I unfortunately have personal issues when it comes to doing that, so what I do is I try to feel what muscles my face is using. Are my lips pouting? Are my eyebrows scrunched up? Are my eyes squinting? Small details like that matter a lot when it comes to expressions. Take this as an example:

This is kinda basically that thing where you go to thesaurus.com to find that specific word in mind but for drawing LMAO. Like what kind of sad do you want to express?

When it comes to emotions the biggest changes you notice in the face are in the eyebrows, eyes, and mouth.

look at how much an expression changes by swapping one of these things:

BUT! While exaggerating may be the main focus here, you don't have to exaggerate every expression. Subtlety can also be good. It really depends oh what you're going for.

Another rule i have is that not only the face emotes but the whole body as well. Shoulders, hands, even knees and arms help accentuate the emotion you're trying to convey !

I think that's pretty much it without going too much into detail. Also a reminder that everything i wrote here isn't a set in stole rule ! it's just how i personally do things. Have a good day :DD

He gets the wings, big and dark and feathery. The spots that they come from his back are like black leather, like Arsene's suit. He's got black hands, clawed. The leather on his back doesn't extend to his front, and the black of his hands only goes up to his elbows. He's wearing a big coveralls jumpsuit like everyone else, his black. He doesn't need his glasses anymore. His hair now stands up and away from his face, with red highlights

No.2; Futaba, "Oracle"

Her skin is covered in the glowing markings from Necronomicon. They cover everything, and her hands and legs are a deep black. From her wrists, she can extend the dark tentacles like her persona, and use them to "link" with tech. Her hair is now also black, with glowing blue strands. Her jumpsuit thing is bright green

No.3; Makoto, "Queen"

Her hair is now slicked back completely. Her face remained normal, but most of her body has been turned into sheets of overlapping steel. Inside her chest, when she's angry, or excited, or flustered, you can hear an engine roar, sputter, or rumble softly. She's faster. The edges of her metal body, they glow a bright nuclear blue when she uses that power. Like she's become a source for it herself. Her arms and below her knees, those are the only places not covered in metal, the playing resembling Johanna's sleek form.

He's become cold to the touch, skin an icy white. When he breathes, a frosty smoke comes out, like how Goemon smokes. He's one of the least changed honestly, he was at the edge of the group. His hair has icy highlights, and there's black marks around his hands and fingers that are almost puppet like

No.5; Ryuji, "Skull"

Where his gimp leg used to be is now a metal bone "prosthetic". Blue-ish forms of his bones are seen through his skin in certain spots, like his upper arms, other leg, and torso. His hair was shaved down before everything, but the little fuzz is electric yellow, and static-y. Thats it, Captain Kidd is hard to mix in okay??

Pink skin. Pigtails now black with the ends smoking like the tips of Carmen's cigarettes, flaming roses bloom from her chest. Maybe cat ears?? There's not a lot to go on, so she was also near the edge of the incident

No.7; Morgana, "Mona"

He's become a cat. No one knows why, Zoro wasn't a cat. But he's like Morgana on the game but more realistic and less cartoony

No.9; Sumire, "Violet"

Arms and legs are like gemstones, blue and shiny. The right half of her face is also blue gem, and when they discover Kasumi's body, her left side was the same. Her arms are black, hair still red with blonde strands

This one's hard. There's a lady's mask on her face, and when she tries to take it off, it moves her now yellow eyes with it. Her arms are a bright pink, and on her stomach, there's tattoo like designs of a face. In battle, it opens to reveal the barrel of a gun, emerging from within Haru

The missing numbers are Goro and Kasumi. Goro, because I don't feel like talking about how he looks much worse cause Robin Hood and Loki are fighting for control. And Kasumi, cause it killed her
