ron weasley did not
come to privet drive to rescue harry from his abusive home after he hadn’t been replying to any of his letters and he was worried
almost back out of following the spiders bc they’re his biggest fear, but upon seeing hermione’s empty seat at dinner, find the courage to go
defend hermione from any and everyone who called her a mudblood
constantly worry about hermione’s workload (especially in 3rd year) and notice that whenever she disappeared
offer to teach hermione his entire family tree so that she could pretend to be pure blood to keep her safe from death eaters
defend harry to everyone (percy, seamus, half the school) when everyone thought he was lying about voldemort’s return
stand up on his broken leg in front of harry and say that “if you want to kill harry, you’ll have to kill us first!” to what they believed to be a raving lunatic mass murderer
gift dobby his newest weasley jumper and the new socks he got given for christmas
stand up against snape when he was bullying hermione (and got a detention as a result)
beg the deatheaters who were torturing hermione to “leave her alone!! take [him], have [him] instead!”
always check up on his friends when he notices something is up, even if it’s in subtle ways
immediately befriend harry on the train in ps and teach him about the wizarding world
write to charlie immediately so he could help hagrid out of trouble (re the dragon, norbert)
encourage neville to stand up to people, and praise him when he actually does it
help harry put on his pajamas after he broke his arm during quidditch
have to be physically restrained from attacking malfoy after he said he wished hermione had died in cos
worry about harry’s preoccupation with the mirror of erised and how it was affecting him
remind hermione to eat her meals and get a good night’s sleep when she’s studying 24/7 for their owl exams
display acute levels of emotional intelligence in the way he interacts with harry and hermione, essentially being the glue that keeps them all together
get splinched almost in half, lose blood and suffer agonising pain but seem more worried about the cattermoles and whether or not they were okay
realise his mistakes & own up to them, acknowledging his role in certain falling outs (especially in deathly hallows)
be genuinely hilarious and fun, and lighten the load in everyone else’s’ lives with the humour he brings to
write to his mother in ps asking her to give harry presents too because he doesn’t think he’ll received any
go to the department of mysteries to help harry without a second a thought
go on the run with harry to hunt for horcruxes without a second thought
run to hermione’s aid when malfoy hits her with a nasty hex outside snape’s classroom and take her to the hospital wing
help hermione with buckbeak’s appeal, spending hours upon hours reading up on the case
extend the first olive branch after fighting with hermione because of scabber’s “death” and apologising, after which she then apologises too
demand to re-try out for the position of keeper on the quidditch team because he wanted to earn it himself with no favouritism or help
choose to stay on the quidditch team despite the bullying from the slytherin team and his nerves about his flying ability
stand up to malfoy at every opportunity, when he was insulting him, but more importantly, insulting his family & his friends
save harry’s life in dh by pulling him out of the lake, and then kill the horcrux
remember the houseelves during the battle of hogwarts and worry about their safety
continue to admire and adore his older twin brothers despite the fact that they were sometimes cruel to him
become almost annoyingly protective of his little sister (ESPECIALLY after the diary situation)
single-handedly out smart and escape five armed and deadly snatchers
try his best to overcome his insecurities and feelings of being overlooked, in order to support the people around him
sacrifice himself without a second thought during the chess game in ps because he knew harry’s survival was more important than his
for y’all to speak on him the way you do. calling him cruel, evil, selfish etc??? open your fucking eyes

I’m curious as to your honest thoughts on the show? Like I love pjo and all but the show was a bit of a let down writing wise. There’s always the point of “it’s an adaptation, not a carbon copy” like yes but this new writing isn’t exemplary better than the book just because it’s rewritten by the author himself
I think the show is well-written not because Rick is attached to it, but because I actually like the way the writers are approaching adapting the source material. I have a lot of issues with the original books in terms of writing quality because frankly speaking, I don’t think Rick is a very good writer. He has a lot of interesting things in those books that he never explores or drops within the first two and this fandom gives him and the books too much credit imo.
This is why I’m not very moved when people try to ascribe meaning to a certain scene or choice he made in the books to get mad at the show for changing. As an example, one of the main things people were upset about was the kids “knowing everything” in the show when they were getting tricked left and right in the book. Many posts were dedicated to how the book version is superior because it illustrates how they’re just twelve years old kids so of course they’ll make mistakes and get tricked by monsters.
That’s a perfectly fine interpretation but I was twelve years old when I first read tlt and I was able to anticipate almost every single trap, despite being pretty gullible and naive at that age. My knowledge of Greek mythology consisted of Disney’s Hercules, maybe two Google searches, and my second grade teacher’s reading of the kid friendly version of the Odyssey. No where near the level of Percy who’d been learning for a whole year in an established class on the topic with Chiron or Grover who was literally a satry born into the world or Annabeth, who spent the majority of her life dedicated to studying specifically quests and Greek mythology and was also on the run fighting monsters for a good portion of her childhood. Like twelve year olds can be dumb but those three stumbling into every trap was asking me to suspend my disbelief too far. I remember being upset that they weren’t able to figure it out because it was obvious that Rick wasn’t making that choice to show any personality flaws or character dynamics (because he would’ve had them learn and grow but they never did they just kept being not smart), he just wasn’t able to figure out a way for them to fall into those traps organically so he had to dumb them down.
I think the show was able to get across the characters’ childishness without compromising their established backstories. Yes, Annabeth knew it was Medusa right away because that makes sense for a kid who has experience with running into monsters. But, she still acted very much like a child in her interactions with her (and throughout the episode and season). She lashed out and called her a liar and wouldn’t listen to her side of the story because it painted her mother in a bad light. That’s peak twelve year old behavior.
Yes, Percy figured out Kronos was behind everything, but it makes sense because Percy knows Greek mythology and where Kronos resides. He still very much acts like a child when he asks Hades to give him back his mom in exchange for nothing because it’s the right thing to do.
There are dozens of examples like this for a lot of complaints of the show. And this is not me saying that the show is perfect: every single show has flaws. For me, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the dialogue or the exposition dumping. It didn’t hinder my enjoyment though because I don’t think it was egregious (and wrt the exposition dumping, I expected it because the book did it and there’s really no way to “show not tell” Greek myths). I also didn’t like that we didn’t get to really see the huge clashes between Zeus and Poseidon in the weather (we got references to it through news reports but I would’ve liked something more). I was able to look past it because I really liked the storytelling and the themes the show was pulling out of the original source material.
I loved Medusa-Sally parallels and Medusa-Annabeth parallels. I loved the juxtaposition of Pan’s quest to manifest density. I loved Percy and Annabeth’s opposite trajectory in respect to their relationships with their godly parents. I loved exploring Sally’s choice to send Percy to school instead of camp. I loved explicitly coding Annabeth as autistic. I loved Luke’s backstory being brought earlier into the story. I loved the deadline passing and Poseidon surrendering to save Percy. I loved Persues-Andromeda and percabeth parallels. I loved fleshing Grover out. I loved glory vs home seeking being the central theme of the show.
And lastly, I was able to understand that with a limited number of episodes and run time (due to the nature of child labor laws!), they did the best they could and I feel like they did a pretty good job for a first season.
These are not ALL of my thoughts on the show because that would be a very long post. I gave one detailed example of why I think the show succeeded in something the fandom tries to ascribe the books and it was like three paragraphs lol. Anyway this is not the post to try and convince me that the show is bad for whatever reason you have cooked up. I’m not going to change my mind and I doubt I’ll change yours. Here’s to a season 2 that builds on a solid season 1!

Do you have more thoughts on Hazel being an accountant? I actually kinda love it. She isn’t the type to turn her art into a career. And it’s important that her job is done correctly but not “lives hang in the balance” level important.
I like Hazel embracing the business side of wealth a lot. I've written previously about her being the accountant to Annabeth and Leo's architecture and engineering business. She keeps them in check monetarily, but also with resources and supplies because they both do weird shit and things blow up a lot. They both get distracted easily (ADHD) or hyperfocus on something and lose track of inventory as well, so she handles that for them.
I've also talked about her and Walt making jewelry because Walt is a curse user, so he can remove all the bad luck from the jewels she summons and then he makes pretty things, as he does in canon but w/ less magic, that she'll sell at craft fairs and whatnot.
I guess she's less of an accountant and more like the business manager - she handles a lot of things because the others forget or get confused by all the rules and those are things she knows pretty intrisincally through Pluto, the way I headcanon that Jason can walk into a new place he's never been but immediately know all the laws and rules that place is governed by, and how Percy knows how to sail when he gets in a boat. So she's the inventory manager, purchasing manager, accountant, sales assistant, mediator when Annabeth and Leo get weird about each other's ideas - basically like a good portion of the jobs needed to keep a business afloat.
With Walt it's a little easier since he does his stuff more part-time so as not to aggravate his conditon and they get along well.
I also like to think of Hazel shadowing her dad in the underworld and seeing what he does from a management position. She likes to study his spreadsheets and figure out effective cost savings that don't fuck up everyone else's ability to work, as well as assessing which gemstones will become more popular and which will fall out of fashion, idly coming up with competitive prices for her dad to sell his jewels at, making fun growth projections slides and whatnot. He loves it.
✨ Bonding. ✨

Wrapped in Love
Fandom: Critical Role Characters: Percy De Rolo, Vex'ahlia Pairing: Perc'ahlia Word Count: 1,065 Note: Yes, I know Perc'ahlia Week 2024 is coming up in a month--and I should be focusing on those prompts--but I've been trying to finish up what I didn't for the 2023 prompts. This one in particular was fighting me, but I finally got it to a point where I don't hate it.
[Also found on AO3.]
X-X-X-X-X
Aside from her obvious love for her archery lessons, Vex’ahlia looked back on her woodworking lessons with some level of fondness. They were not something she’d had the opportunity to do often, as Syldor focused more on the twins’ academic and martial studies rather than their artistic pursuits, but they put her at ease in much the same way that archery did, surrounding her with the comforting scent of wood even when she was indoors.
She naturally fell out of practice when she and Vax’ildan abandoned Syngorn, since she lacked access to the full range of necessary tools while they traveled. She picked up small projects where she could just to fill the idle moments, but her woodworking—limited as it was—became delegated to creating more arrows when she couldn’t buy them and carving small personalizing details into her bow. Even when Vox Machina earned Greyskull Keep, she still didn’t get a proper chance to return to it, since it took several months for the keep to be constructed and then their ordeals with the Briarwoods and the Chroma Conclave kept them away from their new home.
It wasn’t until Vox Machina spent some time away from each other that she could actually pick the craft up once more. As she and Percy settled more into Grey Hunt manor—her manor—they curated a workshop space for him, giving him an excuse to spend more time in her vicinity. (Not that he really needed an excuse, of course, but it was one of the reasons he gave Cassandra when she refused to stop needling him about it.) Over time, though, Vex eventually intruded on what she considered his space by installing a small workbench for her own tools, obtained gradually over the first few months of their break. She still didn’t turn to woodworking often, as she did have to focus on her Grey Hunt duties, but in the quiet moments where Percy was holed up in the workshop and she wanted the benefit of his quiet company, she would sit near him and cut and carve and shape the wood into more “frivolous” items.
She started small, carving small details and curling shapes along the curve of Fenthras, sprawling out from where she had made careful, tiny letters out of ‘sinaeth’ as she made the Vestige hers and hers alone. Eventually, she allowed herself to graduate to larger projects: a small bear the size of her palm, a simple trinket box where she began to keep her Earring of Whisper when she wasn’t actively wearing it, a panel of the De Rolo family crest that she hung above the mantle in the main sitting room of the manor. When she regained some confidence in her hands and her skills, she turned her attention to a more complex trinket box, using different woods from across Exandria to represent all the places she and Percy had seen together, determined to create something for the man that spoiled her with his own creations.
x-x-x-x-x
“Darling?” Vex called with a light trio of taps on the doorframe of the workshop.
“Hmmm?” Percy pushed his work goggles up onto his forehead and glanced her way. “Yes, dear?”
“I have something for you.”
“Oh?” His brow furrowed a little in confusion, like he was trying to figure out what the occasion might be.
She nodded, almost hesitant and shy in the gesture. “May I?”
“Of course, dear,” he replied readily.
Vex smiled faintly and crossed the room, holding the completed box—wrapped in dark blue paper—behind her back. Once she stood next to Percy, she set the package down in the spot he had cleared for her on the workbench surface; he seemed even more confused and glanced at her in curiosity.
“Well, go on and open it, darling.”
He nodded slowly and returned his attention to the package, careful and meticulous as he unwrapped the paper. He revealed the most complex section of it—the various wood types carefully cut and arranged to portray a landscape view of Whitestone as she often saw it from one of her favorite hidden spots within the Parchwood—and ran his shaking fingers along the edge of the lid.
“Is this what you’ve been working on when you’ve been spending time in the workshop?” he asked.
“Yes,” she replied with a small nod. “You always make such wonderful trinkets for me, darling, and I felt it would only be appropriate to return the favor.”
Percy seemed to be at a genuine loss for words, silent as he looked the box over. The longer the silence stretched on, the more anxious that Vex began to feel, a small and distant part of her remembering the time Syldor had discarded a pipe that she had put hours of work into as a gift to him. Before her thoughts could truly spiral, Percy let out something of a soft laugh as he glanced up at her again.
“You didn’t have to do this, you know.”
Vex smiled, trying not to let her relief show in her posture nor expression. “I didn’t have to, but I wanted to. And I thought that you might enjoy something practical rather than purely decorative.”
Percy’s expression softened (oh, how she loved that he only looked at her so) as he said, “I believe it actually serves both purposes, dear. It’s lovely work.”
Vex blinked, startled by the praise. “Oh…! Well… thank you for saying that, darling.”
He tilted his head before he frowned slightly. “You are aware that I’m being genuine, dear? I’m not merely spouting niceties?”
Vex didn’t answer, unsure of how she felt about him knowing exactly what he had inadvertently hit upon, even if that perceptiveness was one of the reasons she cherished him so deeply.
Percy sighed a little and set the box back down on the workbench before reaching out to take both of her hands in his, his tremor seeming to calm as he held onto her. “I do love the box, dear. It’s beautiful and speaks to a skill I did not realize you had. And I’m flattered that you spent so much time and effort on something for me.”
She offered him a shaky smile and, in return, he leaned down to press a kiss to her brow.
“Thank you, Vex’ahlia,” he reiterated when he pulled away. “Truly.”
“You’re welcome, darling.”

𝐋𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑 𝐇𝐀𝐙𝐄, chapter four BURNOUT
pairing: percy weasley x fem!oc (olympia slughorn)
word count: 1.53k
warnings: none
series masterlist OR previous part
a group project.
snape's idea of a good first double lesson back, followed by an arduous hour long speech about the importance of o.w.l's and the necessity of an 'outstanding' in order to pursue the subject as a n.e.w.t level, was to reveal his teaching plans for the start of the year.
in the second half of the lesson he would let them pair up into groups of three, ( "not you slughorn, weasley needs one saving grace this year if he doesn't want to get stuck with an exceeds expectations" — percy's ears had flared up deep crimson and olympia begrudgingly dragged er feet over to weasley and wood's table, on the other side of the dungeon from cleo and terrence ) and they would present a research project when the term ended at christmas on a potion of their choice.
he didn't specify whether they had to be owl level, but olympia assumed any potions studied at newt level was okay to research. snape was fond of them "broadening their minds", after all. but lesson time would be spent first teaching the theory behind ingredients, the potion recipies and properties before the class would actually brew the potion in their last lesson of the week, with homework set on revision for their four previous years at school over the weekend.
olympia complained as she crossed the dungeon to percy weasley's table, whined as she ascended the spiralling stairs to the entrance hall after the bell had rung to signify the end of their lesson, objected to even entering the imaginary ten foot wide boundary she'd put around percy weasley as she stepped foot in the courtyard, and rattled on all throughout professor binns' hour long lecture about the salem witch trails.
for once her friends wished she wasn't talking, preferring her to focus all of her energy and passion into reading words on inked pages — that was if she could see the print over her own penmanship. terrence shut her up by shoving a handful of carefully picked bertie botts into her mouth, while adrian attempted to scale the stairs to the girls dormitory in effort to retrieve a set of flashcards to calm her down. marcus suggested flying up with his broom as they entered the great hall for dinner, but instead cleo produced a set from a pocket of her robes.
"never underestimate the power of carrying around a set of her flashcards. i've used them for everything; drawing on eye liner, making paper birds, throwing them at the hufflepuffs, asking people out to hogsmeade."
adrian looked up from his charms homework, an essay he'd been assigned over the summer, that he was completing the day before it was due. "is that why her diagram of bezoars went missing?"
cleo nodded minutely. blaise sped past their small end of the table, following after draco malfoy who was complaining about harry potter. olympia moped back into the great hall with terrence, who for once didn't look like he was listening to her — she was still banging on about percy weasley!
on the gryffindor table, oliver wood wasn't having much better luck, either. he continued shovelling food onto his fork and eating without a care, waving cutlery in percy's face as he spoke, "look mate, i don't get the problem. sluggy's amazing at potions, if we let her pick a seventh year potion for the project this term, you've been handed an 'outstanding' on a plate!" percy stabbed angrily at a pile of carrots on his plate, not flinching as one of the first years sat near ron blew up his goblet of pumpkin juice.
his gaze followed the two slytherin prefects as they walked into the hall and lowered themselves down onto the benches with their friends. "but she's still better than me. snape'll give her all the credit for chosing to study an advanced potion, he'll think she's brewed it and researched it herself without any help from us, and i'll be lumped with an 'e' like normal."
oliver sighed heavily. students around him began to shuffle out of the hall after finishing their meals, to head out onto the grounds so they could enjoy the last few days of warm weather. he took a deep sip of his pumpkin juice, caught percy's line of sight. "you're not worried about the student rankings, are you? because i told you last night not to worry about it."
"yeah, but then you told me this morning that slughorn's probably been revising all night, brewing and experimenting."
"and who's that going to help in the long run? she'll burn out before halloween if she carries on at the rate she's going. you'll be on the top of the list, perce."
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
olympia slughorn was not going to burn out. she told herself when she tested her knowledge of ingredients in a forgetfulness potion. she told herself as she changed out of her uniform for prefects rounds. she told herself as she strode through a hidden passageway behind a tapestry on the second floor to get to the fourth. she told herself as she loitered near the portrait hole for the gryffindor common room while waiting for percy weasley.
prefects badge sitting to the left side of her chest, olympia broached the top of the stairs for the third time, tired of standing in one position to wait for him. she was just nearing her fifth completion, including the three minutes she had to stop as the staircases were changing, when percy emerged from the portrait hole, red in the face and seemingly embarrassed she was stood waiting for as long as he had been.
she made a show of checking her watch, like she had done with his missing tie. "punctuality not your forte?"
"fred and george." he mumbled, quickening his pace to catch up with olympia, who had already began to march down the corridor. it was an unspoken rule that they weren't to speak a word to each other, silence being more of a companion than the other.
there were a few instances when percy considered asking her if she'd seen anything out of the ordinary, but he decided against it. olympia had thought of telling him they were going to be studying felix felicis for their project for snape, but then remembered she hated him and didn't want him to get ahead of her. she would check behind each tapestry they walked past, and it was only when percy had dropped back and she'd turned around that olympia noticed something.
she smirked, snickered when he looked at her. "what?"
"nothing." she would reply, running through a list of plants she would have to ask professor sprout about growing in the greenhouses, as mandrake leaves weren't easy to come by in the herb garden at home. snape would have to let her have free reign in his personal supply of brewing ingredients, too.
they walked around in silence and completed a few laps of the seventh floor, finding nothing of interest. mrs norris streaked across the end of a corridor a few times, followed by her lamp-carrying master, who grumbled at percy and olympia as they pointed at their badges on their jumper. the night air was cold though, and a chilly september didn't bode well for the fore-coming winter months, olympia thought as they neared the portrait hole for the gryffindor tower, pulling the sleeves of her jumper down around her fists.
eventually they came to a stop infront of the portrait of the fat lady, who was lazily polishing a cut crystal glass against the great volumes of tule on her dress. percy and olympia both remained rooted to the spot, "aren't you going to go?" she asked, impatiently.
percy blinked, and then pulled his shoulders up higher. "i would, if you weren't going to overhear the password. merlin knows that sort of stunts you'd try and pull."
olympia scoffed and turned on her heel to leave, feeling the cold air tickling at her ankles. note to self, she thought as she began to trail down the staircases, don't wear knee socks in the winter. percy stood and continued to mutter to himself, watching over the his horn-rimmed glasses as she continued her descent through the school - he knew it was childish to keep the password a secret, but he wasn't going to take any chances.
but then, as he stepped foot into the common room, olympia's voice yelled back "i've chosen felix felicis for the project, pinhead."
percy shot back out of the common room and looked over the stone railing, as olympia smiled sweetly back at him from the sixth floor a few metres below. she disappeared down a corridor with a swish of her robes, leaving him more frustrated that before as he managed to slip in behind the portrait hole as the fat lady began to swing closed.
pinhead. she'd called him pinhead. it sounded vaguely familiar, and realisation dawned on percy when the snickering of fred and george emerged from beside the fireplace. they covered their mouths with their hands and darted away, quick as anything, up the spiralling stairs as percy rounded on them with a pointed finger and a "right you two, look here or i'm writing to mother again. . ."

types of weapons the hunters would use pt. 2
this time, the draw sword guild, definitely not my favorites :)
goto ryuji:
his sword is really cool, actually. a very nice ruby red. i think he would have a long sword and short sword (kind of like the daisho, a matched pair of japanese swords). otherwise, he would just use his hands. or his teeth. i think he just doesn't really care too much about how it's done, as long as it gets done
sugimoto reiji:
it's not stated in the manhwa what class he is, so i head canon him as an assassin because i think there's only one or two that are canon. so, i think he would have a dagger for short-range kills, and kunai and shuriken for long-range kills (slightly inspired by genji from overwatch's kunai and shuriken setup - the green even matches his usual suit...)
tanaka kenzo:
his fists suit him as a tank-esque fighter. if not that, then brass knuckles (slightly inspired by seo seongun from lookism... beloved...) also i just think he likes to get hands on with things, if him during the jeju arc gives us any clue what his fighting style is like
tawata kanae:
i think a two-sided spear or scimitar would be cool. she also has double blades as it is, so i think she just likes working with two instead of one. higher level of efficiency and all
as i was adding photos... i realized... what this was inspired by... lmao
yeah. that fits her for sure
fujishima tatsumi:
i think he would use things more for looks rather than efficiency, so anything cool or unique... a scythe seems up his alley. something like ruby's scythe (especially because it also works as a gun - and i think the engineering mind i've head canoned for him would love to fiddle with that and make it abysmally powerful)
ishida mari:
i headcanon him as a ranger because i think there's literally only taegyu otherwise. so he would use a compact bow as his main weapon (inspired by the chiron form of the coronacht bow), but he also uses a rapier. he strikes me as a rich kid that studied abroad in london and learned fencing (i know it's really specific but those are just the vibes i get)
shimizu akari:
she has her giant golden battle axe. i also think she would know boxing, so she has short-ranged hand-to-hand combat down
kumamoto atsushi:
he doesn't really need a weapon, since he has a strange fighting style, and i headcanon he transforms like yoonho. but... something blunt, like a mace or a club. maybe nunchucks? or something similar to the playful cloud weapon from jujutsu kaizen?
hamada kei:
they're an ice type mage, so they have a varied attack pattern, but i think they would like a bowstaff or a baton (inspired by nami's clima tact from one piece. it even has the bonus of controlling the weather through temperature - which kei can... sorta do, lmao). something to easily knock-out any monsters that get near them so they can run before they throw up. really, it's more of a back up weapon, since they would take anything out before it got too close to them (inspired by this video!)
izawa ippei:
the actual canon assassin. well, i headcanon he likes collecting all sorts of weapons and learning how to use them, but his go-to would be something slightly ranged, like a spear (inspired by maki's from jujutsu kaizen) or a scythe (i think something simple like the one from soul eater would suit him best)
hoshino minoru:
i also headcanon him as an assassin (i mean, look at that raid outfit - you can't tell me that's not built perfectly for stealth and a better range of motion!), but more short-ranged and borderline fighter style. i think he has a sickle for quick chain kills, and an old dagger for sneak kills. (sickle is directly inspired by percy jackson and chronos' sickle, but i don't think we ever got to see it in a movie, but something along these lines would fit well. dagger is more of the hunting/gutting knife from the hannibal nbc series)
well... that about wraps it up! i tried to get more visuals from media this time instead of just googling the weapon type from the internet. there are some pretty cool weapon designs already out there, unique ones that always catch my eye. i just like weapons a lot lmao

weasley siblings and their favourite taylor swift album (according to me, if the books were set in more modern times)
bill: he likes lover a LOT. he gets teased about it but my guy over here is a hopeless romantic and has lover (the song) as his most played on spotify wrapped. he was a 1989 stan before lover came out 100%. his favourite songs are lover and daylight. he knows all the taylor drama and was avidly listening to debut, which was what got percy into taylor swift a few years later.
charlie: reputation. this was his first taylor album and he loves every song. when he first went to work with dragons, this was the latest album and he knew percy liked it, so he downloaded and listened to it on repeat so that they could talk about it. in his free time, he probably annotates the shit out of the lyrics of different songs. his favourite songs are ...ready for it? and i did something bad. his second favourite album is midnights. he was hella hyped for the release as he hoped for rep vibes. it didn't really happen but he adores it all the same.
percy: evermore stan. he lives, breathes, dies this album. his thinks the best song on the album is ivy due to the lyrics, but he enjoys right where you left me the most. he doesn't listen to it's time to go much bc the song hits a bit too hard for him. his second favourite album is between folklore and reputation. folklore for the lyrics, and reputation for the album's cohesiveness. he, too, annotates taylor's music.
fred: in public, he says his favourite is red, but he actually likes debut the most. he can't explain it, but the youth in taylor's voice and the lyrics are just something he really enjoys. his favourites are a place in this world and our song. his red favourites are starlight and message in a bottle.
george: his top two are red and folklore. where his twin is more active when he listens to taylor, george prefers to study to taylor. he keeps the volume fairly low and kinda vibes while he gets shit done. his favourite song on red is begin again and on folklore it's hoax.
ron: speak now. 200%. a personal hc of mine is that percy was practically a parent to his younger siblings, and percy used to sing never grow up to them when they were younger. he never really listened to taylor's music, but as he grew older and re-bonded with percy, he started to listen to speak now again. he thinks he has grown out of never grow up, and thoroughly enjoys innocent and mine, the latter which becomes one of hermione's favourites as well. his second favourite album is red, which is hermione's favourite.
ginny: she doesn't like taylor swift bc of the extent of the internalised misogyny 💀 BUT when she moves out, she becomes a fearless girlie. her favourite songs on the album are fearless and the way i loved you. her second favourite album is lover. she connected to the man on a spiritual level and, despite what people say, she adores you need to calm down.
bonus (don't scroll if you like molly and arthur)
molly: little miss misogyny does NOT like taylor swift. she slut shames like it's nobody's business
arthur: doesn't care. he's a bit busy being negligent.

pspspsp i am asking u to info dump about greek myths rn bc i never got into em when i was younger bc i didnt know where to lear about them sooobbbsss
I FORGOR
okay so uhhh just a disclaimer while i am a greek mythology enthusiast i am also not a reliable source AVSJA and i mostly like. stories from different sources and different interpretation. like when i see a myth i like to just take it and be weird abt it
my favorite example: icarus. from the main source, he's the son of dedalus and they got locked in his father's labyrinth, right. and dedalus made wax wings for icarus, and warned him to not get too close to the sun, otherwise the wings would melt. but icarus did it anyway, and fell into the sea
on the other side you have 2 icons for the sun: apollo, the god of sun and arts, and helios, the literal allegory for the sun, who rode the solar chariot every day (hence the rising and setting sun).
what drew icarus to fly too high was hubris, kind of the arrogation of mankind & its consequences (im rly dumbing it down bc i myself am dumb btw. and french so. words. excuses). but i like to involve apollo and/or helios in that, and to extrapolate a lot, often with the common trope of love (not necessarily romantic or sexual) between a deity and a mortal. ik a lot of people who are into mythology (especially in the spiritual sense, but not just them) hate the "fandomification" of myths but i personally like being silly about it and actually often draw parallels between (extrapolated) myths and ocs and/or characters. icarus/apollo/helios make me think of xiaoventher for example!!! so im 0% normal about them:)
anyway yeah the main point is that my enjoyment of greek myths is kind of surface-level, i could brainrot abt certain stories like narcissus and echo but i might start vibrating out of existence. also find hades and persephone to have an amazing story but it was slightly ruined by the comic lore olympus 💀
however a few funny things imo: hephaistos (not 100% sure that's his name in eng.....) was so ugly his own mother, hera, threw him off a cliff as an infant. zeus has to put him in his calf to let him kind of heal??? athena was also born fully grown and with her whole armor from zeus' HEAD. insanity
BUT YEAH IDK I LOVE IT but i also have a very bad memory so. i did get a whole class studying the gods 2 years ago tho, that was so cool. but i never read percy jackson 😔
tbh id say reading ovid's metamorphoses that's really good!! it's kind of an anthology with a shit ton of myths, and one of the most popular sources so i rly love it <333 and there's also the iliad and the odyssey for troy's war (with namely achilles, ajax etc) and odysseus' journey from troy to his wife and kid. it's kind of hard to read imo, but sort of the base material so ZBDJZN

2017 - Voldemort Scholar
((Content warning: illness (minor) ))
Genre: general
Romance level: none
Angst level: 1/5
Draco's headspace: calm / philosophical
((words: ~1700))
------------------------------------
Draco shook the hand of the fashionable witch who entered his study. "I'm sorry I had to change our meeting venue." The fire was roaring in the fireplace behind him despite the mild weather, and he had a steaming cup of something that smelled more medicinal than pure tea on the corner of his desk. "Thank you for indulging me." He gestured for her to take a seat, and resumed his when she had.
"Not at all," she assured him, settling her bag in her lap and arranging a Muggle-style pad of paper from it neatly in front of her on the desk. A cup of tea seemingly poured itself and came to rest in front of her. "Thank you for agreeing to meet with me. I know you have a full schedule."
"I always have time to talk about myself," he said playfully.
She obliged him with a laugh and set her quill to the paper. "Well, it's funny you say that — I was actually hoping to talk about Voldemort."
His affable demeanour evaporated. He raised his eyebrows coolly and his expression turned neutrally reserved. "That isn't what your owl said."
"No," she admitted, but was unabashed. "I've found that I get far fewer responses to my owls when I open with that. Please hear me out, though — I only need five minutes of your time."
He was watching her without expression, but he picked up his tea instead of throwing her out. "Five minutes."
"Thank you." She was apparently prepared, because she pulled several sheafs of papers from her bag and laid them on the desk in front of her in a messy line. "As I'm sure you're aware, I mean, obviously you would be aware, the twenty-fifth anniversary of his defeat is coming up in a few years. I'm working on a book I intend to have published that year, working title Life Under Voldemort, a ground-level history, showing what that time was really like. I've been sourcing memories and interviews with survivors…"
He reached across the desk and delicately moved the papers with two fingers. Some of the labels on the stacks that stood out were Neville Longbottom, Percy Weasley, and Andromeda Tonks, interspersed with others he didn't recognise or knew were offering a much more tangential view.
She watched him study them. "I have the stories from members of Dumbledore's Army, the Order of the Phoenix, normal civilians, people who went into hiding, Ministry workers…"
"Sounds admirably well-rounded."
"That's what I'm after. I'm missing someone with your qualifications…"
"A Death Eater," he said coolly.
She nodded her head to the side in a way that wasn't precisely yes or no. "Someone with your perspective, someone who was actually right there with him. A firsthand look at what he was doing. At him."
"I'm sure you could find plenty of willing interviewees in Azkaban."
She gave him a look like that was a strange thing to say — which was frankly the pot staring at the kettle. "I'm not looking to write about the people committing the atrocities. This is about what it was like to survive them."
"That's the second time you've used that word. Is that what we are? 'Survivors'?"
"You're here, aren't you? You survived him."
"That's an interesting way of putting it." It would be nice if it were true, but he declined to indulge that musing for the moment. He laced his fingers in front of his mouth, spinning his family ring around his finger, and watched her over them. "Why are you writing this?"
She looked like she understood this was the important question, and took a moment to gather her papers back together neatly as she gathered her thoughts, fanning them out to show the dozens of names, all people who were sharing how they had been impacted by those dark times. "As a society, we Wizards tend not to talk about these sorts of things. Once dark times are over, we put them behind us and carry on with business as usual. I think it's important that we don't rob future generations of the ability to know what life was actually like, just because we'd rather pretend it didn't happen."
"For the love of the historical record, then."
"Oh yes. I think it's important that history be preserved and learned from."
He spun his ring, watching her steadily. She was a little younger than him, maybe hadn't started school yet by the time of Voldemort's rule. Her fascination was academic, and genuine, he was sure, but lacked the personal fire that would make it truly impactful — that would really cut to the truth. "I'd offer you another motivation, if I may. Or the same one, taken further."
"Oh?"
"This can never be allowed to happen again." He settled his ring firmly into place. "When we silently put it behind us, we leave the door open for a new generation to make the same mistakes. Another fervour of self-righteousness, another Dark Lord, a new war against ourselves. It must stop."
She stared at him, then looked down at her files with a small, thoughtful nod.
He finally released her from his gaze. "Tibby."
The house elf appeared beside his chair. "Master Draco?"
"There's a box of old papers in the bottom drawer of my bedroom desk. Please bring those to me." The house elf disappeared and he looked back at her. "I don't want to talk about him," he said. "I'd like to say 'I'm sure you understand why', but I suspect you might not. But I support your goal and think I have something to offer that may actually be of more historical interest."
"Memories?" she said hopefully.
"Mm, no. You should know that asking so casually for something that intimate is very offputting. In case no one's ever told you." Tibby reappeared with his papers, and he thanked her as he took them. He took the lid from the box and flipped through a few of the pages to check they were what he expected, then he floated the witch's blank pages to him without asking permission. He held one hand above the box of papers and the other over her pad, and very swiftly the writing from the first began to appear on the second, racing down the page. Papers floated out of the box and neatly stacked themselves as they were copied, and the pages on her pad flipped unaided.
She was quiet to respect his concentration, though he made it look effortless. "Not quite as useful as a contemporary journal," he said as he finished, "but perhaps of interest. I wrote these in the year after Voldemort's death." It was less a journal and more a disorganised vomit of things he had witnessed, been made to do, and couldn't stop himself from feeling, often without context and not written for an audience, put down on paper when there was no one to talk to but he had to do something to get it out of his mind. "They haven't been edited; I haven't even looked at them in at least ten years, and I can't promise coherence or quality. They're yours to do with as you please."
She was reading some of the words upside down as the pages moved, and she seemed excited. "This is incredible."
He manually handed the pad of copied pages back to her, but when she took them in her hands, he didn't let go, and she had to look back up at him. "On the condition you also get Harry Potter involved in your project."
She bit her lips together as he let her take the papers. "That's been a sticking point."
"You mean ambushing him in a meeting arranged under false pretences didn't work? I am shocked." He conjured a handkerchief to cough into, subtly checked for blood, and Vanished it again. "He's dealt with people asking him about Voldemort his entire wizarding life; he's good at ignoring it. Tailor your pitch to Hermione. I would think she would be receptive to your intention."
"I have tried reaching out to the Deputy Minister—"
"If it doesn't work," he interrupted with a small shrug, "I'm afraid that's all there is to it. My condition stands. Is there anything else I can do for you?"
She took the cue to begin packing away her notes. "Well, I would love the opportunity to interview your mother…"
He laughed. "And I would quite enjoy seeing you try, but I'll spare you the discomfort. No. My parents are intensely private people who very much believe in 'putting it behind us', and you should stop annoying them, if you've started."
"That's unfortunate, but I understand. I had to try." She stood up, and he also stood to see her out. She hesitated, and he raised his eyebrows to invite her to go on. "May I see it?" Her eyes flicked toward his left arm.
His demeanour went cold again. "Do you ask werewolves to see their scars?"
"If I were studying werewolves and werewolf bite scars were going to become extinct within a few decades, I think I would."
"Then you can find plenty of them in Azkaban." He gestured toward the door for her to go. But he also thought he had better follow her to make sure she didn't decide to go wandering around the house to see the rooms where Death Eaters had really lived and plotted and killed.
She took the instruction to find the floo with some reluctance, but he escorted her to make sure she got there, floating sedately at her side and shivering a little bit once out of his overly-warm room. "I feel I should make it clear," he said amicably, "that if my contribution is used against my wishes, or is edited to present me or anyone else," his family, that meant, "in a falsely negative light, my estate will take swift and severe action. Not that I am requesting favourable editing," he assured her, "and in fact I'd prefer minimal editing at all, but villainization will not be tolerated."
"I have no intention of doing any such thing."
"Then I'm pleased to work with you, and I hope your book excels beyond your wildest expectations." He pleasantly offered her floo powder and watched her leave.
"That was unusually aggressive," he heard from the door. He hadn't realised his father was out of his own study; he must have been informed by his portrait spy and waited for the stranger to be gone.
"Well, you know, sometimes Ravenclaw types need things to be spelled out for them." He coughed into his hand again as he left the drawing room. His tea felt very far away. "Apparently Voldemort scholars are a thing now."
"It was inevitable. You handled her?" He nodded, but couldn't speak to answer. His father offered his arm, and Draco's coughing and the tapping of his father's cane carried them back to his study.

prompt from this list that i saw and couldn’t stop thinking about:
I didn't know you wore glasses and I'm thinking normal and platonic thoughts about you right now I swear
annabeth all but collapsed into the seat across from him. “i got no sleep last night,” she started, barely even bothering to look at percy as she opened her lunch. “and i ended up not even presenting today because the professor was sick. literally stayed up until 4 am for nothing.”
she angrily took a bite of her burrito bowl, stabbing the fork back down into the rice. finally, she looked up at percy, who was staring at her blankly. “what?” she asked.
“you wear glasses?”
a stupid question because obviously she did. they were square-ish frames, black and silver. the bottoms of the lenses rounded out a bit and rested gently on her cheeks. she had no makeup on, but the glasses highlighted her eyes in a similar way to how her mascara normally did, maybe even better. in the sunlight that washed over them as they sat on their usual picnic table, he was rendered speechless by how good she looked.
“oh,” annabeth said, slightly less pointed than before. “yeah. i always wear contacts, but i was too tired this morning.”
percy nodded dumbly, his lunch completely forgotten as he looked at her. annabeth didn’t seem to notice how his brain was short circuiting as she continued to eat and tell him all about how much effort she’d put into this presentation, only for her to still have three more days to work on it now.
percy didn’t realize he had a thing for moody girls in glasses, but he very much does. he’d always, on some level, recognized that annabeth was beautiful but it had never clicked in his head just how beautiful. now, as he tried to act normal and resume eating his sandwich, he was finding it increasingly hard to focus on what she was saying and instead found himself getting distracted by the way the light reflected off her glasses and onto her cheeks.
“you’re being weird,” she said after a few minutes.
“no, i’m not,” percy lied. he had just been studying the way her hair looked tucked behind her ear with the arm of her glasses holding the curls back. which was, admittedly, kind of weird of him.
“what’s up?”
“you just look so different with glasses, i don’t know,” he shrugged.
“you’re still on that?” she asked.
“i don’t know. it’s weird, okay?”
wrong thing to say, he realized immediately. but annabeth nodded once and said, “thanks.”
“not a bad weird,” he corrected himself. annabeth rolled her eyes though. she lifted the glasses off her face and instead set them on her head, pushing her hair away from her face.
“better?” she asked.
no, not better. it was worse, actually. because this was how annabeth normally looked to percy, and he was still tongue-tied over how fucking pretty she was.
“i like the glasses on you,” he said, trying to sound genuine. “they look good. good weird.”
annabeth stared at him for a few seconds before bringing down the frames again and settling them on her face.
“anyways,” she said, trying to steer the conversation towards something else. “did your quiz end up going okay?”
they fell into a relatively normal conversation, but percy couldn’t stop himself from occasionally losing focus. if annabeth noticed, which he was sure she did judging by the handful of odd looks she gave him, she didn’t say anything. they sat there for the next hour until percy had to leave for his next class.
“you should wear the glasses more often,” he said as he stood up from the table. “they suit you.”
annabeth stared at him, the look in her eyes hard to read. “you’re weird, jackson,” she said finally, but there was a hint of pink in her cheeks that hadn’t been there before.
“yeah, but you knew that already,” he smiled.
“that i did,” she nodded. “now go away.”
he left with a small wave, mind focused only on how the rims of her glasses looked brushing against the blush on her cheeks.
when he saw her the next day in their english class, she was wearing her glasses again.

Failure - Weasley Family x Weasley!Reader
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧I solemnly swear that I am up to no good✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
'Ello everyone! Once again it's been ages since I posted a story. I promise I am writing!!! I'm just... writing veeeeeerrrrrrryyyy slowly... But hey, what can one do?
Tbh, I'm not too sure about this one, but I have been working on it for weeks now, so I'm just gonna post it and hope someone likes it. I have some other fics coming up (hopefully) soon - and mainly HP actually! I started writing for Percy Jackson, Team Flash, Spider-Man and a few other characters, but I'm in such a Harry Potter mood at the moment (thanks to the 20th-anniversary reunion)... Ahhhh... I don't know! Anyways, I'll get back to writing for someone and let you all enjoy this sad thing for now! See yah!
Note: As always I'm finishing this late at night meaning I will probably have to reread this one more time and check for potential errors, but it's late, so I'm just going to trust Grammarly and post it for now! Enjoy

~~~Failure - Weasley Family x Weasley!Sister~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I’m serious, dad, there’s nothing to worry about - the plan is fool-proof!”
(y/n) rushed furiously up the stairs of her childhood home with her backpack in her right hand. She had been trying to get everything packed for half an hour, desperately wanting to be 100% ready once her mother would wake up, as it would be next to impossible to prepare for her next job with Mrs Weasley around. (y/n) had however not expected her dad to be too much of a problem - it was usually him who would convince his wife not to worry about the kids every time they left the house - but clearly, the task she had been assigned meant taking a risk so big that even Arthur was hesitant about letting his daughter go.
“I know it sounds that way, sweetie, but this job is not like anything you’ve ever done before, it’s… It’s… It’s different, an-”
It felt both weird and oddly familiar at the same time. She had moved to her own flat a few years earlier and had gotten used to not having overprotective brothers and parents trying to prevent her from going on dangerous missions. Originally, she hadn’t planned to go back ‘home’ until after this job, but her mother had started driving her younger siblings mad, causing them to send a letter asking their older sister to PLEASE come home and help prepare for Bill and Fleur’s wedding. It had been a long time since (y/n) last had to handle this situation, but her father seemed to have no problem picking up where they left off.
“How, dad?” She turned around and violently pulled a hand through her red hair, desperately trying to keep her voice down. “Apprehending people who turned to the dark arts is literally my job, at least this time we know what to expect! We just have to transport the death eaters from point A to point B as smoothly as possible, and even if they should try to break free, there’ll be four of them, and twelve of us - surely three aurors could take down one wandless death eater?”
Arthur remained quiet for a few seconds, causing his daughter to put her backpack on the floor, walk a few steps back down the stairs, and pull him in for a hug.
“Look, Dad, I know it’s not without risk, but… I’ve got to go. I don’t think the question any longer is if you-know-who is gonna take control of the ministry, but when, and once that time comes we have to be prepared for anything. The best we can do is make sure the most dangerous people are in a secure place, and well guarded. As much as I hate it, Azkaban is the safest bet, otherwise, they’ll all be back out on the streets, and everything we have worked for these past two years will have been for nothing. We’ll just have to hope that the dementors won’t switch sides. I’m sorry... I love you.”
It wasn’t only a long hug, but a long-awaited one as well.
“I love you too, darling, which is why I don’t want you to do this. I understand your reasoning but…”
“Dad? (y/n/n)? You’re home already?”
(y/n) looked over her dad’s shoulder and immediately walked into the arms of the person who had called her name - her older brother.
“Bill…”
He hugged his sister tightly and put his right hand comfortingly on the back of her head. She was shaking slightly, but Bill pulled her in even closer and put his head on top of hers. This was why (y/n) always tried to prepare, pack and leave quickly every time she was assigned a mission - that way she left no room for any nerves and could focus on the task at hand without getting too scared or anxious. Don’t get it wrong, she loved protecting others and knew it was an important job, but overthinking things just made her realize how much she had to lose. Being around her extremely caring family made that even worse.
“Shhh… (y/n), breathe, easy, you’re fine.”
“Yeah, I know, I know… It’s just, I don’t like thinking too much about it. I’m good, though, and I’ve missed you.”
“I know… ‘n I’ve missed you too. Hey, not that I’m not happy to see you, but why are you home? And awake?”
“Mum needed some help with the wedding preparations, and…”
Bill moved his gaze from his sister to his father, silently asking for a response.
“Your sister is leaving for work.”, said Arthur slowly. “It’s just not an easy decision. It’s not-”
“-It’s not safe.”. (y/n)'s gaze wandered nervously around the living room - her parents’ house still being one of the few places where she felt properly at home. She smiled slightly when she noticed a brown plush rabbit sitting on a shelf. It was her favourite toy when she was younger and had been her father’s before her. “Heck, it’s really, really dangerous, but it has to be done. I don’t have a choice, and as much as I would love to stay here with you, the longer I do the harder it becomes to leave.” She sighed. “But I have to go. Bill, will you please tell mum I’m sorry when she wakes?”
Bill looked at his sister, not really wanting to let her go, but understanding exactly how she felt. “Of course.” He grabbed the backpack and handed it to her before placing his hands firmly on her shoulders. “Stay safe, okay? Promise us that!”
“Bill-”
“(y/n/n)!”
“Stop it! You know I can’t promise something like that. I swear I’ll do my best, though.”
“Good. Then go, I’ll see you next week?”
(y/n) smiled. “Yeah, around lunchtime on Wednesday. Bye, Bill. Bye, dad.”
Arthur looked out the window and sighed sadly as his daughter disapparated. “I remember when I feared for her life because she kept climbing the big apple tree… Now I almost wish she was there, hanging on to one of the top branches, swinging back and forth.” He closed his eyes and leant against the wall behind him. “At least then I could see her. Make sure she didn’t fall.”
“I know, dad. But she’s not a kid anymore.”
“She’ll always be my kid.”
“She’ll always be short.”
“Bill!”
“Jokin’! C’mon, dad, let’s go have a cup of tea, yeh?”
————————
‘The plan is fool-proof!’ (y/n) coughed slightly and regretted her words as she was hit with yet another curse. The plan had been fool-proof… apart from the fact that someone at the ministry clearly had leaked information to the death eaters. The mission had relied on secrecy. It had been planned in secret and only the 12 aurors and a few ministry officials had known the details. Despite that, around 30 death eaters attacked as soon as the transport had left the city, and due to their numbers, the aurors barely stood a chance.
“Jackson, we need to get out of here as soon as possible! There’s no way we’ll be able to fight them all off.”
“You’re probably right, Weasley.”, he shouted while sending a death eater flying off his broom. “But how did this happen? We were so careful!?”
“Yeah, I don’t know.” (y/n) swiftly flew out of the way as a flash of green light almost touched her side. “But that doesn’t really matter right now. Wilson’s wounded, can you help him.”
“Sure.”
“And then get out before anyone’s killed.”
He frowned and nodded towards her. “You too.”
“Yeah, course. I’m just gonna try to take Dolohov down. I really don’t want him out and about again.”
The auror seemed to doubt his college’s decision for a second but was familiar with her family’s history with that particular death eater. “Fine, but be careful! I mean it, (y/n/n).” He looked straight into her eyes. “Don’t take any unnecessary risks!”
“Oh, you know me, Jacky. Careful planning, no risktaking.”
“Good. See you in the office tomorrow, then. Good luck.”
————————
(y/n) battled her way through a few death eaters and eventually found herself sneaking up on Dolohov.
“Expelliarmus.”
He turned around in surprise as his wand flew out of his hand.
“Incarcerus.”
Thick ropes bound the death eater, effectively preventing him from escaping. However, (y/n) was so focused on arresting the man who murdered two of her uncles that she completely missed someone approaching her from behind.
“Crucio”
She fell and dropped her wand as intense pain spread through her body. It was pain beyond anything she could ever have imagined. She unwillingly let out a scream as the pain intensified before suddenly lessening. Despite coughing and struggling, she tried to get back up on her feet but fell yet again as the same kind of agony, only a hundred times worse forced her to focus solely on not passing out.
“Well, well, well… We counted on a few random aurors to stand in our way, but who knew we’d stumble upon a blood traitor as well, huh?” The death eater, Augustus Rockwood, leant forward and spat on the ground, right by her face where she lay twitching in the mud. “How does it feel down there, Weasley? Feel at home?” He pulled (y/n) to her knees and Dolohov, who had managed to untangle himself from the rope, walked up to her and grabbed her face roughly. “Striking resemblance”, he whispered before letting her fall again. She fought to get up but failed due to the horrendous curse still causing her pain. Her eyes slowly closed as she passed out on the cold, hard ground.
————————
“Good morning, dears.”, said Molly, cheerfully entering the kitchen after having forced everybody to get up at first light. She had been under extreme stress lately but seemed to be in a much better mood today and the rest of the family knew why - (y/n) was coming home. Sure, that didn’t take away from the fact that the upcoming wedding meant a lot of hard work and careful planning, but having her oldest daughter home would at least help ease Mrs Weasley’s worry. “She’s not back yet, is she?”
“No, mum”, yawned Fred. “but-”
“She said she wouldn’t be back before lunch.”, finished George tiredly.
Their mother didn’t answer, but muttered something incoherent and went to prepare breakfast.
————————
Hours passed as the family worked to get everything ready, both for the wedding and for Harry’s birthday. Molly was so busy with preparations that she completely lost track of time, however, Fred & George started sharing worried glances around 10 am. Bill eventually noticed and had, a few hours later, become way too curious.
“Why do you two keep looking at the clock every other minute?”, he asked. “She said ‘lunch-time’, that could mean another 2-3 hours? Besides, it’s not like you to worry?”
“Well…it’s just…”
“Whenever (y/n/n) lets mum know when she thinks she’ll come home, she usually adds a few hours, sometimes an entire day.”
“That way, when she ends up being slightly late, mum doesn’t immediately lose it…”
“To be honest, we were kind of expecting her in time for breakfast, definitely before noon.”
Bill pulled his hand through his long hair (which he had not allowed his mother and her scissors to come close to) and glanced quickly out the window before looking back at his younger brothers. “Well, there’s not much we can do at the moment, is there? She’s smart and strong. Besides, it’s best not to get worried too easily, it’s probably just that dim-witted head of the department forcing her to work overtime.”
————————
(y/n) groaned loudly as she slowly pushed herself up. She felt dizzy, her entire body hurt and she had no idea where she was. Actually, scratch that last bit. Looking around, she realized she was in a field of some sort and could see burned parts of the now broken carriage they had used to transport the prisoners. Her hair was dripping wet due to the heavy rain and she was freezing. (y/n) struggled to stand and tried to determine roughly where they could have been when they were attacked. She knew that they had travelled northeast from London, towards Norwich, and that they probably hadn’t made it much further than Chelmsford. Her exact location didn’t really matter, though. It’s not like she could walk from London to Ottery St. Catchpole. That would take like two, maybe three, weeks in her current state - and that’s if she made it at all. No, she’d have to apparate, just not the entire distance in one go.
————————
“Bill, dear”, said Molly worriedly. “When did your sister say she’d be back from work?”
“I- I’m not sure”, Bill stuttered, as he sped down the stairs. “Around… dinnertime, I think?”
“What?”, asked Ron. “You said she said lunchtime!?”
Bill threw his head back and sighed as Fred kicked his younger brother under the table.
“Oh”, mumbled Ron, finally understanding. “Yeah, Bill’s right. She definitely said the evening.”
————————
But, dinnertime came and passed. Still no (y/n). When she still hadn't made it home a few days later, the Weasleys were forced to simply accept that something more serious had happened and just try to keep their hopes up. Molly, naturally, refused. Arthur had, while at work, done his very best to contact the other aurors that had been working that night, but unfortunately remained unsuccessful due to the now tense and strained situation at the ministry. Fleur had suggested delaying the wedding, but Bill insisted, claiming that this gave them even more of a reason to do it while they still had the chance. He could, however, barely stand the thought of not having one of his sisters there; it was difficult enough that Percy refused to come…
————————
She didn’t know how much time had passed, maybe a week, but eventually found herself slowly approaching her childhood home. After taking a few heavy steps, she stumbled slightly and would have tripped if not for two strong arms firmly grabbing her shoulders to keep her standing. She should probably be scared but somehow knew not to fight them.
“(y/n/n)!? Bloody hell, what in Merlin’s name happened to you?”
“Charlie?”, she gasped and grabbed her older brother’s coat as her legs suddenly gave out. “Is it really you?”
“Yeh, of course, it’s me.”, he put his sister’s arm over his shoulders. “(y/n/n), I literally just came home, where have you been? What happened? Who did this to you?”
“Work, attacked, Rockwood”
He looked her up and down with a pained expression on his face. “Okay, come on - let’s get indoors.”
They walked slowly, Charlie carefully making sure that (y/n) didn’t fall and simultaneously pepping her with questions. “How long have you been away? When were you supposed to get back to mum and dad’s?”
“Ehhh… I-I don’t know… A couple of days ago, maybe? It’s all kind of hazy right now, to be honest.”
“Holy Merlin… But wha-”
“Charlie, sorry”, she coughed slightly, “but would you mind if we wait? Mum and dad are going to want to hear everything and I don’t wanna have to relive it more times than needed…”
“Yeah. Yeah, of course.”
He knocked carefully on the door, and it was only a matter of seconds before Arthur slowly opened it. He had his wand in a tight grip and was about to have Charlie confirm his identity when he noticed the state of the person standing next to his son. Their father’s eyes widened in shock and he looked absolutely horrified.
“Molly! Bill!!”
(y/n) hadn’t heard such fear in her father’s voice since Ginny had been taken into the chamber of secrets four years earlier. He swallowed deeply. “Come in, quickly.”
Charlie put his sister on the sofa just as their mother, older brother and the twins came running down the stairs. They all grinned happily when they saw Charlie, but the smiles faded almost instantly.
“(y/n/n)?” George effortlessly jumped over an old armchair and kneeled by the couch. “Are you okay?” He removed some blood from her face using the sleeve of his jumper.
She smiled and nodded weakly. “Yeah, I’m fine. Don’t” *cough* “don’t worry. What happened to your ear?”.
Bill and Charlie embraced each other quickly while Molly joined George on the floor. The two oldest brothers both glanced at their sister. She lay so incredibly still; completely motionless save for her steady breathing. Just as those thoughts crossed his mind, Charlie noticed something and was about to point it out when Bill beat him to it.
The oldest brother had walked over to join his family by the sofa and placed a hand on his sister’s shoulder. “(y/n/n)? You’re twitching.”
“I know.” She sighed deeply. “It’ll pass, though.
He looked deep into her eyes and fought to keep eye contact when he whispered, “was it-”
“Yes”, she answered honestly. “But, Bill, I’d rather not talk about it, if that’s okay. Besides, it was way worse a few days ago… Speaking of which, what day is it?”
“Wednesday”, said Molly bitterly, obviously understanding the meaning of the words just exchanged between her oldest son and daughter, but deciding not to push it further. “10 days. 10 days, (y/n/n). Not a word?”
“I’m sorry, mum. Truly.” She then explained everything, from the detailed plan to the overwhelming defeat. “Imagine if we had taken them down instead?” She put her head in her hands and sighed sadly. “Imagine how many people will die now, because we let them all go.”
“Sweetie”, sighed Arthur, taking her hands in his. ”You didn’t ‘let them go’. You did everything you could.”
She closed her eyes sadly. “Not enough, dad.”
“(y/n/n)”, said Bill seriously. “You can’t think like that. We’re at war, we can’t go in expecting to keep everybody safe. There will be casualties. Some of the death eaters didn’t make it either. Think instead of all the people who will survive the war now thanks to you.”
“Bill, I know for a fact that Rockwood and Dolohov got away. We’re all…”, she glanced carefully at her mother. “All aware that they won’t hesitate to kill. A-”
“It’s not like they’re invincible now?”, Fred interrupted. “(y/n/n), you’ll get another chance. Just rest now, please. You’ll be back in the field in no time, and it’ll be like this never happened.”
“Sure, bu-”
“No!”, said Molly with a firm tone. “No buts! Fred is right, you need to rest, dear.” She kissed her daughter on her forehead and left the room. The others took that as a sign and left the room with a quick ‘sleep tight’ or ‘g’night’.
(y/n) Weasley tried to listen to her family and put this minor setback behind her. She managed it for a while. At least until that fateful day of the final battle between good and bad. The day when the consequences of her failure became clear. The day her younger brother lost his life because of her.
Yeah FOR REAL.
I’ve had it with these "pjo tv" fans. If I see one more person defending that dumpster fire of a show with "it's a kids' show," I'm actually gonna scream. Since when did “for kids” become a synonym for “brainless rot”?Are y'all seriously so blind and deluded that you can't distinguish between quality content and a shameless cash grab? It's infuriating how one can stomach such a pathetic excuse for entertainment and have the audacity to defend it.
To everyone out here bending over backwards to defend this garbage just because your precious "Uncle Rick" is involved this time around—what’s with the hive mind? Need validation much? A desperate desire to fit in with the crowd?
Grow a spine. You're all parroting the same drivel without taking a single moment to actually sit down and objectively analyze what you're defending.
Sure, negativity is bad, but this level of toxic positivity is downright pathetic. Calling you blind would be an insult to the visually impaired, and even they see better.
WAKE UP.
Rick’s not your "uncle." He’s a cash cow. The Rick who wrote the original books out of love for his dyslexic son, Haley? He’s long gone. Now, he’s just cranking out low-quality, mediocre junk riding on the coattails of PJO—and you’re all partly to blame for this nosedive in quality. You’ve turned him into some untouchable deity and swallow whatever crap he dishes out.
GROW THE FUCK UP!
Or at least grow a pair of eyes and enough brain cells to realize that putting someone up on a pedestal and hero-worshipping them is is nothing short of idiotic and mindless. It's embarrassingly pathetic, making you look like you've got the critical thinking skills of a goldfish. You're not fans; you're mindless sheep, blindly following without a shred of individuality or intelligence.
And while we're on the subject, let’s tackle your pathetic defense of "it's a kids' show!", shall we? Enlighten me, what exactly qualifies as a kids' show?
Better yet, give me some names.
Starting with the classics—Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes. Absolute staples of childhood entertainment. Ever heard of them? Of course, you have. These aren't just kids' shows; they’re household names around the globe.
How about Scooby-Doo? Powerpuff Girls? Samurai Jack? Each one a masterpiece, cherished by kids and adults alike. These shows have stood the test of time and are just as popular now as they were when they first aired. Scooby-Doo churns out new content every year, with a Japanese version on the way. Powerpuff Girls is not just getting a comic revival but also a new show with the original creator, Craig McCracken himself at the helm.
Ben 10? Danny Phantom? Avatar: The Last Airbender? Tell me, is there a soul in the multiverse who hasn’t heard of Ben 10? The show grossed $8 billion, and is listed among the highest-grossing shows ever.
Danny Phantom is still beloved, continuing in graphic novels and a fan-made crossover with Ben 10 called "5 Years Later" by Kuro the Ink Tank. It's so popular that even the official creators and voice cast have taken notice and appeared on their YouTube channel.
And A: TLA? If you're unaware of this goldmine, you've been living under a rock. It has continued in graphic novels, fan adaptations, and is so loved across all age groups that new movies are being made, with an ongoing live-action adaptation that, by all accounts, outshines the Percy Jackson show in quality—even without the original creators involved.
And oh, how could I forget? The Barbie movies—yet another cornerstone of kids' entertainment. Her fairytale classics have enchanted kids for generations. and let's not kid ourselves—whole families could enjoy them too. Take it from me, a grown man; when I was a kid and a Barbie movie came on, my entire family would gather around to watch. The music? Phenomenal. It introduced me to Tchaikovsky and Beethoven, and it's directly responsible for me taking up music studies myself. The animation, for its time, was spectacular and still holds up with a nostalgic, ethereal quality.
The stories were super fun, magical, and relaxing. I’ll never forget how my grandfather passed away listening to "Written in Your Heart" from The Princess and the Pauper. The impact these Barbie movies—meant for children—can have on a person speaks volumes about their magic and the love poured into them.
Finally we have My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The pinnacle of "kids' shows". This show took the world by storm, leaving everyone wondering why adults are head over heels for a show meant for 5-year-olds. It ran for 9 seasons (with a 10th in the comics), nearly 400 comics, novels, mangas, role-playing games, toys, merch of all kinds, flash games, and fan works of such a massive volume that there are specific fandoms for them—animations, PMVs, comics, you name it (ever heard of Fallout: Equestria, Equestria at War?) And guess what? Much like Ben 10, MLP: FIM MLP: FIM is listed among the highest-grossing shows of all time, raking in over $6 billion.
There you have it—these are kids' shows. What do they all have in common?
Epic storytelling that grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. Gripping, multi-dimensional characters who feel so real you cry for them, laugh with them, and feel every triumph and heartbreak like it’s your own. Their arcs wring emotions out of you that you never even knew you had. Creativity so wild and off-the-charts it makes you wonder, “How the fuck did they come up with that?”
Unforgettable stories that burn into your brain, living rent-free in your memory forever. Awesome action scenes that have you gripping the edge of your seat, teeth chattering, heart pounding. Fantastic world-building and immersive lore that you feel like you're right there, living in those realms.
And despite being labelled as "kids' shows," they transcend age, nature, color, gender, nationalities. People of all walks of life love them. Why? Because they’re actually GOOD. Truly good.
These shows don’t just entertain kids; they build massive, loyal fandoms that span all ages. Adults are binge-watching these shows, buying the merch, and diving into the lore because quality entertainment knows no age limit.
Now, tell me with a straight face that the Percy Jackson Disney show compares even remotely to any of these actual kids' shows I’ve just mentioned. Does it have even one-tenth of the elements these shows boast?
And it's not like Percy Jackson lacks these elements—it does, very much so—IN THE BOOKS.
But the show? Bland as unsalted butter. You can't get more vanilla than that. Stilted acting, lackluster writing, exposition-heavy narrative—basically everything OP pointed out. They even watered down the fun and exciting story into a dreary "I'm dying" snooze-fest.
So if you’re out here using “it’s a kids' show” to justify bad, lazy writing, you need to sit down and rethink your life choices.
Seriously, stop. Just STOP using that phrase as a free pass for mediocrity. You’re insulting the audience and the entire medium.
Kids deserve better. We all do. You don’t write “for kids” or “for adults”—you write a good story, period. Quality storytelling resonates with everyone, no matter their age. Focus on making something great, and the rest will take care of itself.
People using “it’s a kids show!” as a defense for the PJOTV show makes no sense to me for many reasons, and one of the reason is that if the show’s questionable quality is a result of it being for children, how then do you explain or justify the removal or weakening of so many elements that kids enjoyed about the books in the first place?
You know one thing kids like? Cool action scenes, and yet most of the action scenes in the show were pretty lackluster. They were over within seconds, and largely replaced by conversations and exposition.
You know one thing kids like? Cool outfits and cool costumes, yet the costuming for the characters, especially the gods, was extremely bland, uninteresting, and devoid of any charm or personality.
You know one thing kids like? Humor. And yet the humor in this show was also very lackluster, especially in the way of Percy, who’s supposed to be a funny, snarky, and witty protagonist, and yet this depiction of him was incredibly dry.
You know one things kids like? Relatability. And yet you watered down or even straight up excluded so many of the character’s relatable traits, especially the depiction of ADHD/dyslexia, Grover’s shyness and cynical yet funny remarks, or Annabeth’s crush on an older friend figure or hear tearing up when it was time to leave the dog, or her grabbing Percy’s hand when they first get in the Underworld because she was scared.
You know one thing kids like? Bold personalities. Yet, so many of the gods are missing the elements that made them bold and memorable, and they just seem like nothing more than a bunch of grumpy adults.
You know one thing kids like? Mystery and suspense. And yet every chance this show had to build some, it was killed on arrival by the insistence that the characters needed to know everything.
You know one thing kids like? Funny references and fun twists. The Underworld was supposed to be set up like airport lines. The entrance was supposed to be a record studio named DOA (Dead on Arrival). Chiron was supposed to be in a fancy Italian suit and shoes. Each of the cabins and thrones on Olympus was supposed to be uniquely constructed and colorful to depict each god’s domain. And yet all of that got eliminated.
You know one thing kids like? Places and adventures that feel grand and magical. And yet, when it was time to show off grandeur at the Lotus Casino, we took away all the sky diving and reverse deer hunter games and replaced it with exposition, and activities that don’t seem magical in the slightest. And we didn’t even get to watch the characters play and be kids.
So how, just how, do y’all get off saying that we should go easy on the show because it’s “just a kid’s story”, and yet the show neutered most of the elements that endeared kids to this story in the first place?
Okay what r ur thoughts on Percy and vexs kids i must know
Omg anon thanxxxx I have many thoughts. I don't know why i gave a few sentences for the de rolo siblings but for the kids you're getting a good chunky boi lol.
One thing is that I keep flip flopping whether or not they’re half-elves or quarter elves (as Vex has the blood of a full elf in her, they could be half elves in an interpretation of lore). I tend to just prefer half-elves so I know they’ll outlive Vex tbh though I am not wedded to the idea.
Vesper: She is the oldest child and acts like the oldest child. She loves Whitestone and as soon as she turns into a teenager she wants to rule. She feels a bond with Pelor as she's plane touched, and will often pray for her family's sake when they're going through difficult times, especially when her parents and aunt seem sad, lost, stuck in grief and trauma. She differs with Percy on this a lot, but she gets along well with both her parents, other than matters of Whitestone. She gets along well with Cassandra, who does eventually cut through to Vesper that she can't just give her whole life up to Whitestone at a young age, so I like to think she agrees and Vesper spends time in other cities learning and studying for a year or so, keeping close to Pelor's temples, but just feels homesick for Whitestone so would never leave long-term. Enjoys riding but doesn't enjoy the outdoors much and never liked hunting or anything to do with the grey hunt as a special force, and isn't physically inclined and only knows 'a few' offensive cleric spells. Men and women throw themselves at her feet with marriage proposals, not sure if she'd ever accept any.
Wolfe: Slightly older than Leona and proud of it. He is a smarmy lil boy who think he's the absolute shit, and think he's more charismatic than he actually is. Of all the siblings he wants the glory of being a hero like Vox Machina the most, and becomes a fairly good all-rounded fighter. However, despite being a bit of an apparent fuck-boi, he has a childhood sweetheart he marries early on.
Leona: More level-headed than her brother. She's less of adventurer and has Percy's tinkering spirit. Unlike Percy, she sits and talks his ear off when she's tinkering. She is very chatty and friendly. She loves building things mechanically but doesn't have the aversion to magic her father does. Bit more of a flirt than Wolfe, string of broken hearts behind her. I could see her moving away to help continue with the rebuilding of Emon when she's in her twenties.
Wolfe and Leona: Vex notes how as the pair are twins they're close, but they don't have that intense, dependent bond that she and Vax had, which is probably a good thing becaue these two grew up not needing to depend on each other. Unlike Vesper, both enjoyed the outdoors, exploring, the grey hunt. Both are far more extraverted. When they're adults, they decide to travel, and Leona keeps Wolfe in check. They join an adventuring party and do some good deeds (far more minor) EDIT AS I AM WRITING THIS WHAT IF THEY JOINED THE DARRINGTON BRIGADE??? like they become loyal members throughout their lives, they sometimes just join an adventure as a twin bonding exercise despite living apart.
Vax'ildan: They call him 'Dan.' A mumma's boy when he's young. Good with animals, the grey hunt makes him cry, and he becomes a vegetarian (at least for a period of time). Close with Auntie Keyleth and enjoys Zeprah a lot, I could see him joining the Ashari as a druidy boy. I think when he's young, because he's so close with Vex he just doesn't see much of his father. But as he gets older, he likes taking his textbooks on animals and nature into his father's workshop and quietly reading whilst his father works, enjoying the background noise his father makes whilst he creates. Both get that the other needs space (this quiet time is sometimes ruined by Leona, who eventually realises that she should maybe leave them alone), and Dan is close with both.
Gwendolyn: A little angel girl who just happens to look like a devil. When she's a baby she cries a lot and Percy soothes her better, I think because he had the pact with Ipkesh. Vex and Percy are honest with Gwen and the children (as their other kids could have a tiefling because of Percy) that Percy is the reason they have a tiefling BUT with the rest of Whitestone and visiting parties Vex is like 'yeah?? maybe it was me??? what of it??'. Whitestone accepts Gwendolyn as she is (said before but I think after everything that happened in whitestone, the people of whitestone would be quick to realise that tieflings are not a cause of evil or pain) and Gwen has a very peaceful, loving childhood. Still daddy's little girl growing up, but as she get's older she enjoys the grey hunt with her mother, and I just picture Gwen with a full body camoflage outfit on with only her eyes visible to give her the ability to blend in. She does enjoy combat sports a little, but is mostly 'dainty' and charming and friendly, Whitestone adore her. People start proposing marriage to her as well. Maybe she's a little chaotic and accepts a few, before ending them shortly after, but she would settle down and be adored by a loving partner. I think she could rule Whitestone in Cassandra's place on the council with Vesper--- I think Gwen would be a little naïve/easily swayed on her own, but would be a very dedicated ruler for the people and adored.
#vox machina#de rolo kids#de rolo family#percy de rolo#vex'ahlia#perc'ahlia#gwendolyn de rolo#critical role#vesper elaina de rolo#maybe i just want a tiefling ruler okay#like honestly i have no sexuality hc's for these characters so imagine who you want#but now im imaginging wolfe's childhood sweetheart to be a boy and im in love so#i have been waiting for so long for someone to ask me cr headcanons#thank you#i mean ill dump them at some point anyway but
Hey guys, I'm officially back! So there isn't much content for Malcolm, and we don't know a ton about him but I had some ideas so I figured I'd share! If you don't know who I'm talking about, he's a son of Athena and he was kind of Annabeth's second-in-command until she left CHB and he became head counselor.
Much like he's the first person to notice Annabeth and Percy's feelings for each other, Annabeth is the first to notice his feelings for you. She would often push him to "go for it!", much to Malcolm's irritation.
When he's nervous or flustered he'll cover it up by spouting random facts that pop into his head. You think he's just smart and offering you information, but Annabeth knows what he's doing. He can't hide it from her.
Malcolm is very used to things being linear, so he tries to study you and figure you out for a long time before eventually learning that you aren't numbers on a spreadsheet. You're a person, and people are strange and colorful and unpredictable.
He learns to love that.
He's super uptight. Being Annabeth's second-in-command for many years means he feels like he needs to be perfect or needs to do everything right, and sometimes he gets really stressed about it. He would need someone who can understand that but also help him relax or loosen up a bit.
A relationship is not the most important thing to him. Of course he cares about you (a lot, actually), but he understands that as demigods, you aren't like other teenagers and you can't just go on casual dates all the time. It's about survival, and especially as head counselor of the Athena cabin, he's super busy with maps and plans and diagrams and all that.
He will, however, make time for you. Whether it's setting aside time after lunch or between lessons, he'll make sure he has time to spend with you here and there.
He has a huge sense of responsibility. He's had to lead the Athena cabin while Annabeth is on adventures with Percy, so he's led them into battle and led command tents in her absence. This taught him all about responsibility.
He's sarcastic as hell. His sense of humor is dry and sarcastic so you have to be able to match that energy!
I can imagine your first kiss was just before the Battle of Manhattan. When you guys got there, you met up briefly and told each other to be careful. Then he kissed you and told you he loved you before you headed back to your respective cabins.
During the battle, he's super protective over you and will keep an eye on you if he can from the command tent. If you're injured he will check on you every chance he gets.
He's worried about you the whole time, regardless of if you're hurt or not.
After the battle he will look around for you frantically. When he finds you he will run to you and pull you into the tightest, most loving hug you've ever received because oh gods, he's so glad you're okay.
Then he'll pull away and clear his throat awkwardly before telling you he's glad you're alright.
Malcolm isn't used to caring quite so much about people. Of course, he cares about his friends and siblings and he would be devastated if anything happened to any of them, but this is a whole new level of caring for him. He's confused because this is all so new, but he finds he doesn't hate it at all.
Cuddling in the Athena cabin while his siblings aren't there! It's such a calm place with all the bookshelves, the wood floors, and the warm lighting. You fall asleep on him almost every time.
You do have to ask him to cuddle. He loves you a whole lot, but he doesn't usually think of physical things first.
Stealing his glasses. If anyone else were to do this he would be pissed, but it's somehow cute when you do it so he lets it slide.
He's not big on affection so it's not often, but that makes it more special when it happens! He does like cuddling, though.
Also hold his hand when he's anxious! It helps him so much.
Sometimes he'll get nightmares (like most demigods) and while he won't sneak out of the cabin to find you or anything dangerous like that, he'll hug you extra tight the next day at breakfast.
He's new to relationships so he may not be the best at being a boyfriend but he does try!
Sometimes he needs reminders to stop working and pay attention to you, and you'll have to tell him if things like going on dates or anniversaries are important to you.
You actually change him quite a bit. Not in a bad way, but being with you has changed the way he sees things a lot! He learns to love unpredictability and spontaneous adventures, and he gets a lot more social. He buries himself in his work a lot less, and over time he gets more comfortable with relationships and physical touch!
He's still your Malcolm, though.
Overall, he's new to this and can be uptight, but he cares for you a lot and is a total sweetheart. 10/10 adorable nerd boyfriend.
