Thinking about a power swap au for the sisters and this is what I’ve got:

Prue - premonitions. Admittedly, this one has the least justification just because I came up with Piper and Phoebe’s first and this was what was left for Prue. However, I think it could still work very well! Instead of Phoebe, it’s Prue who has the most passive power. She’d have to learn to let go and trust her sisters’ abilities because she doesn’t have the power capable to win the fight by herself. In comparison to Piper and Phoebe, she doesn’t have nearly as much control over the situation and would have learn to deal with it. 

Piper - telekinesis. Meek little Piper gets the most destructive power. She’d have to learn to accept and channel her anger instead of denying it. She’s already able to temper herself, but she’d have to learn to express herself. There’s also the element of having to take charge and stand out, because her power would be one of the strongest in a fight. She can’t just hide behind Prue, she has to step up as a fighter instead of the typical motherly role she takes. 

Phoebe - molecular immobilization. Phoebe, the girl who never thinks things through and never considers the consequences, gets the ability to actually stop everything and think. Accidentally freezing time and then having to actually consider before she acts, forcing her to be more level-headed. In contrast to premonitions, she doesn’t get to see a glimpse of the future so the element of still making so many mistakes when she should theoretically have all the time in the world to think about it.

For overall storyline adaptations, I’d say there should be a definite increase with Prue’s powers and her job at Bucklands. We already see those intersect several times during the first two seasons (including, but not limited to, Feats of Clay, The Painted World, and That Old Black Magic) but imagine Prue being able to see the past in an auction house. I’m also always a sucker for magical artifacts so I’d love to get more.

Finally, I think that it’d impact the sisterly relationship. I feel like there could be an element of tension in Prue and Piper’s relationship because Prue is so used to being the one in control, the one calling the shots, but now Piper has to take charge more because she’s the one with the strongest power. Piper finally being able to stand out from Prue and Phoebe instead of letting her anxiety and shyness control her and stay in the shadows and they butt heads a little more. Phoebe, forcibly learning patience to be able to unfreeze things, having to play mediator and get in between them. Basically a lot of role swaps going on here for all of them.

+BONUS: Paige - also premonitions! Someone who is trying so hard to outrun her past and what she used to be being forced to confront it head-on. Someone who struggled to find a future for herself seeing a new one unfold in front of her very eyes. Someone who is so new to this game seeing everything in front of her, all of the horrors that they have to face, all of the tragedies that they can’t stop, all of the pain involved, and deciding if she’s willing to join as its newest player. And then someone who is so unused to being vulnerable and opening up discovering that she can use her powers to share her premonitions for others and learning to let them help her shoulder the burden.

++BONUS: also ft. a species swap for the love interests: Andy as half-Whitelighter who still dies saving them, Leo as a Cupid whose powers are originally bound, Coop as half-demon who just wants to help people and love, Cole as a Cupid that falls down a dark path and uses his powers to manipulate Phoebe, and Henry as a Whitelighter who is a bit overly cynical to be a literal guardian angel man.

1. i would say the cupitches are honestly closer bc they’ve known about this power of three thing since birth + are raised by and empath and a relationship therapist (coops mortal (and sometimes magical!) job) so like the clear communication thing is really really super prevalent. they were learning how to carefully articulate their emotions without pinning the blame on others while most of us were still learning santa isn’t real

2. i mean sometimes a little but the fact that her + pj + kat + tam are all so so super close in age (with parker and peyton still relatively close as well) i think it scratches that itch so to speak like she has someone to braid their hair or put on wacky eyeshadow and bad fashion shows with you know?

3. easy. prue & piper. it would just make their dynamic so much jucier like hello prues overprotective nature over her twin but then also just being the brave one which i think would make piper even more the wallflower and also makes piper taking prues mantle post death even more interesting

4. honestly i think they’re pretty close i think henry jr is a naturally curious child and i think paige likes answering his questions like we really see how much paige loves study and learning esp in season five when she dives headfirst into studying witchcraft and even starts exploring angles not previously known to the halliwells (eg using chi in the s5 premiere, studying romani culture + magic in the eyes have it) so i think like paige has found conversations with her son very engaging even from a young age also i think henry jrs just like. cool. he has a similar dry sense of humor and is in general a fun guy to hang out with so i think he and paige are really close. honestly probably the closest to paige out of any of her children

5. this is difficult to say bc like. idk i really don’t know i wanna say yea bc i love a world in which everyone gets along but my gut is telling me that (if they met in a work setting not thru the girls) no. they’re both very stubborn and strong willed and then of course henry had this bad habit of bailing which yes is a romantic thing but i think any defining bad habits will always spill into other facets of your life and as we see with andy that cut and run deal really fuckin bothers him so he might hold an intrinsic dislike for henry. that being said tho i think if they had motive to bond (e.g. ur girlfriend’s sister is my girlfriend) i think yes they would be friends. i think they were both movie / video game kids growing up i think they would bond over thejr dated pop culture references

I think in general with piper's molecular powers her healing ability would metabolize faster. On to the three possibilities

Molecular Immobilization would grow into molecular Transformation (?) Imagine the power wyatt gave piper when she was pregnant but towards incoming objects that exploded I think she'd develop a shield in between that time.

Molecular Immobilization to Combustive Orbing to energy wave to shield

Molecular Immobilization to a Photokinesis power that mimics molecular combustion to shield that would evolve to light manipulation think dazzler or jubilee

Phoebe (I wouldn’t mind paige getting overwhelmed/overstimulated at first when she gains her powers as a hindrance to the fact that she can sense basically everything now)

Paige's senses would go into overdrive while eye would light up with orbs and rather then her jump like pheobe does when she got a premonition she'd temporarily go there before going back she'd eventually get control and stay longer. She'd mostly likely see empathy as feels like an aura of color as for levitating hoving is a whitelighter power. Maybe even telepathy or even a low level seer.

I think we'd possibly get to see astral premonition early to empathy is streanthen ten times over by her whitelighter side and sensing ability to even a low level seer

However, Leo we have here is not exactly like the Leo we have in the show. Our Leo here is a little rougher on the edges. He's still kind, he's still wise, and he still loves Piper more than anything in the world, but no one would call Leo a pacifist. His experience with Piper and realizing that the Elders' way being a little more than outdated, Leo isn't someone who would obey their rules and instructions anymore. Our Leo here is willing to fight. He will fight along with his charges if that's what he needs to do to protect them. He has also gained hand-to-hand combat skills and know how to use his Whitelighter powers in an offensive ways (like using orbs to levitate, orbing-telekinesis etc). So where did Leo learned all these skills you may ask, because from what we know of the Elders, they are not going to train their agents to fight. No, Leo actually found a band of Whitelighters who have been training to fight, Whitelighters who believe in more than just guiding and hiding behind witches' backs. This band of Whitelighters are called "The Rogues", and I am thinking there should have about 9 - 12 members. Let's keep it to a small group for now. I don't think The Rogues are evil, they just have their own freewill and have different believes than the Elders. They practice to fight and practice to use their powers to help the Greater Good in a more active ways than traditional Whitelighters would. They each could have their own stories that lead them down on this path.

"Lydia Martin" ❥ Original ❥ Whitelighter ❥ Open Age ❥ Strength: A Seer

Here we have "Lydia" which of course, does not have to be the name you pick. What I have in mind is that she has the ability of foresight and is able to warn the group about it, but if you'd like to change her ability, I'm open for it as well. Open personality and history, I am also leaving her age open, so she can be older or younger than Leo, but she would have been in the group longer than Leo because Leo was one of their newer recruit. But like the other two, I'd leave her details to be mostly open so that you can have freedom to create this character. I'd definitely imagine her to be older than Leo, but still open age, open history, personality (if you do not like her to be snarky). Kiefer Bauknecht ❥ Original ❥ Demon ❥ 406 years old ❥ Open profession Meet Kiefer, older twin brother of Keenen who's also the Demon of Dreams. His power is similar to Keenen's although with a little twist. Kiefer's ability would be able to influence dreams, however, when it comes to creating nightmare/ twisting a good dream into a nightmare, he is slightly weaker compared to Keenen.

Most of Keenen's history with his brother is listed on Keenen's app, long story short, the were born in currently Bamberg, Germany, from a long line of witches and warlocks. The family was nice and happy until they the witch hunt caught up to them and condemned them all to die. Burned to death, Keenen and Kiefer became a pair of demons. Their transformation and the abilities over someone's dreams are a manifestation of their mortal conjuring and hallucikinesis abilities.

Keenen and Kiefer are not in good term right now, Keenen is jealous of his big brother's goodness while he prefers to walk the darker path in life. All the rest that's not mentioned here or in the application, you'll have free reign to create.

Face claim, I'd recommend Lucas Bravo (esp if you're keen on having someone more mainstream and have tons of gifs), Janis Danner (since they are twin), Valentin D'Hoore and Giorgos Mavrogiannis.

For Haori Tsukioka This is a request for the Tsukioka siblings. Brief intro on the family, the Nomura is quite a renowned and respected family in Japan, especially in the Sorcery profession/ Sorcery world (魔道). Their father, Aoshi Tsukioka, is stern and a bit of a sexist/ genderist (this is quite common in the culture) so he wants to get a boy to pass his knowledge onto. To the girls, even though he doesn't have as high an expectation from them, he does expect a lot from them, like to excel academically and otherwise; their mother, Kiku Ohara, is a quiet lady, gentle but also obedient and careful. I can see her being very kind towards everyone equally, though she won't go against their father's words. Their parents have no love for each other, their marriage were arranged by their parents since before birth.

The Tsukioka has 4 children, 3 girls and a boy. Of course, the boy would be getting all the attentions from their father as well as all the responsibilities. I am playing the oldest sister, haori tsukioka, who's like a typical first born: confident, outspoken, protective, and like, never really fear of anything. She is pretty close with most of her siblings, but I am also open for conflict, perhaps one of her siblings (maybe the boy) dislike and envy her (and the rest of the girls) for the freedom he could never have.

I always feels Saori being a little more reserve and quiet as a middle sister. She probably wasn't too confident in her middle/ high school year and needed Haori to help her come out of her shell, but she can go the total opposite way as well! If she was the quiet/ shy one, I can see her having that big-sis worship syndrome and followed Haori to the States when her big sister had the chance. She could also be the down-to-earth one who constantly try to keep Haori from getting into troubles or spending too much.

I can see Minori being the baby of the family, a little spoiled, a little whinny, but also pretty out-going and confident and kind of a wild child. I can see her being closest to Yuori and actually be able to understand her twin brother better than the other two sisters. If you want to take her and have drama, we can totally have her ran away with Yuori to the States and never wanted to go back home ever since.

i do agree there was a grain of truth that most stories have a relationship that is central to it, although candy’s wrong about it always being m/f romantic tobin. the funny thing is she did kind of acknowledge that platonic relationships can be central core relationships, but she still insisted that they were always m/f platonic relationships, like the examples she gave were leslie/ron on parks and rec, and eleanor/michael on the good place, she said that these shows had platonic tobin. the thing is she completely disregarded the idea that they could be driven by m/m or f/f relationships. like for example I’d say that parks and rec was actually driven by leslie/ann more than leslie/ron. she also said that certain shows were following romantic Tobin structure when they were pretty explicitly based on f/f platonic relationships. like she said gilmore girls was centred around luke/lorelai when imo the show was always centred around rory/lorelai and to a lesser extent lorelai/rory/emily. again i do think she made some valid points about luke/lorelai in that the ship never would have been so big with the genders reversed, that it was largely centred around Luke’s feelings and disregarded lorelai’s, but i still strongly disagree it was the shows main relationship. she also said charmed was centred around piper/leo and that pretty little liars was centred around ezria, when charmed was pretty explicitly about prue/piper/phoebe and later piper/phoebe/paige and pretty little liars was about aria/spencer/emily/hanna. i haven’t seen supernatural, but from what I’ve seen of the show the main relationship seems to be the brotherly relationship between sam and dean, I’d say that that is the core relationship, although destiel seems to be the most popular ship, so maybe that ends up being on of the core relationships too.

So I'm gonna answer all of these together.

Yes, I agree that there are shows in which the core dynamics are between female characters or a platonic one like the scoobies in btvs. But I also think that with female-led shows romance ends up taking a central role in the story. Mostly because misogyny and sexism; this idea that the most important thing that can happen to a woman is finding the "right man", that that's all we really want and need.

I believe that's what writers/producers think the target audience of these shows want to see and that's what care about the most, and sometimes it is, mostly because of the way girls are socialized since birth.

So yeah, I do think candy has a point in arguing that in most shows led by women, romance does end up being central to the story and what the fans probably care about the most. And I don't think there's anything inherentely wrong with fans caring about the romance.

I also think she isn't wrong in pointing out that m/f relationships hold more "value" in the eyes of writers/producers because we do live in a homophobic society and if a gay ship ends up becoming popular is usually by accident.

Candy is wrong, however, in thinking all shows are secretly about romance and attributing more value to secondary m/f relationships that they have in the story. Romance never takes up that much space in male-led shows where the female love interests are usually only there to further their stories and aren't as well-developed.

I don't disagree with candy about bangel being one of the most important relationships in btvs because it was essential to develop buffy's character and yes, take the show to "new heights" or whatever she would say. But that doesn't mean the show stopped being about Buffy or the angel is secretly the main character lol

I do believe it's possible to write female-led stories that include romance as a big part of their journey while still being said female character's story. TVD was a romance from the beginning, the whole premise is centered around who will Elena choose, but I don't think the show stopped being about her until much later.

TVD is also an example of when the romantic storyline can take a misogynistic turn and became all about servicing the male character in the ship, which I believe it isn't rare because yeah we do live in a misogynistic world. That happened in btvs later on and I'm sure it probably happened in lot of other shows too.

Candy is also wrong in dismissing how huge m/m and f/f pairings are in fandom, especially m/m. So much so that they can significantly influence the way fans interact with the show, and that as a result can also end up reflecting on the show e.g. supernatural and destiel becoming canon.

So yeah, sometimes in fandom gay ships have even more power and are much more popular than the show's intended and canon m/f pairing and that cannot be disregarded if you wanna talk about fandom behavior.

All this to say that yeah I do think that while in some female-led stories the core dynamic is platonic, the romance might end up getting a lot of attention from the show or from the fans because that's what it's expected for women. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. In a similar way, male-led tv shows are allowed to be about so much more and while they may feature romance, if the show is not explicitly about relationships, then the romance aspect is never really that important to their story and the female love interests don't get the best treatment because you know, misogyny.

The Tsukioka has 4 children, 3 girls and a boy. Of course, the boy would be getting all the attentions from their father as well as all the responsibilities. I am playing the oldest sister, haori tsukioka, who's like a typical first born: confident, outspoken, protective, and like, never really fear of anything. She is pretty close with most of her siblings, but I am also open for conflict, perhaps one of her siblings (maybe the boy) dislike and envy her (and the rest of the girls) for the freedom he could never have.

I always feels Saori being a little more reserve and quiet as a middle sister. She probably wasn't too confident in her middle/ high school year and needed Haori to help her come out of her shell, but she can go the total opposite way as well! If she was the quiet/ shy one, I can see her having that big-sis worship syndrome and followed Haori to the States when her big sister had the chance. She could also be the down-to-earth one who constantly try to keep Haori from getting into troubles or spending too much.

I can see Minori being the baby of the family, a little spoiled, a little whinny, but also pretty out-going and confident and kind of a wild child. I can see her being closest to Yuori and actually be able to understand her twin brother better than the other two sisters. If you want to take her and have drama, we can totally have her ran away with Yuori to the States and never wanted to go back home ever since.

oh, pj was absolutely going to wring chris' neck! why the hell didn't he just tell his mom who he was! aunt piper was going to kill both of them for lying to her face like this. she didn't need premonitions to see that coming. "with how often he's around, i mean." good save, kind of.. they understood where she was coming from, it made sense from where aunt piper was, to not want to hear it from some random whitelighter that you didn't know. but it didn't make pj's job any easier. they were half tempted to just.. beam out of here. to completely ignore the problem until she and chris were on the same page. but pissing off aunt piper more than she already was seemed like it would only end with pj in major trouble. "because timelines are all fucked and weird and if i tell you something before you're supposed to know i don't know if that means we're all gonna go poof." and mostly because it wasn't her place, a sigh leaving her lips when piper agreed to explain. "oh thank god." that sounded bad.. "sorry, not, like-- not thank god about aunt prue. that shit sucked i'm sure. mad respect to the person i'm named after but-- i just.. okay you can see how i didn't want to be the one to tell you that your whole fucking sister died, right, aunt piper? like, i am just your niece from the future, you shouldn't have to hear about aunt prue from me. and it makes explaining aunt paige way easier. she's your half sister, by the way, for like cliffnotes version. grandma patty slept with her whitelighter."

piper nodded her head at her niece's admission. she was happy to hear that she would try to not to use her powers so blatantly. though she had a point, piper did have powers, she was a witch, she just didn't know that at the time. the change in look on pj's face didn't mean anything good. every time that piper though she was getting more answers, she was finding she was only uncovering more questions. "he may be a good whitelighter, but he is not a halliwell, okay? i would rather not have some random whitlighter involved in our familial discussions." she didn't want to have to consult someone anytime she wanted to talk about her family. "break all this news to me?" she repeated back. it wasn't like there was a way she would go back home, at least not form what she knew. "what is so wrong with me knowing what happened in this family?" she reached a hand to pinch the bridge of her nose. "okay, fine. alright? the last thing i can remember about home..." she sighed having to recall the worse day of her life. "my sister prue died.. and i was a mess for a really long time. but that's the last thing i remember." trying not to fall apart with the loss. "will you tell me now?"

I’m sick and it sucks, so have some headcanons about how Charmed characters react when they’re sick!

Prue Halliwell - will not quit working unless she is actively dying, and even then. She’ll take meds and soup when Piper shoves it at her, but will not actually rest. When someone else is sick though, she is hardcore bossing them to go back to bed and quit getting up. She’s an absolute hypocrite.

Piper Halliwell - initially, she’ll try to ignore it and keep going until someone tells her to rest. As soon as someone else has it under control, she will be happily retire to her bed and be a (mostly) model patient. The key is someone else actually has to have it under control because otherwise Mom Mode activates and she has to do something (as Phoebe and Paige discovered when they burnt dinner and had Piper cooking while she coughed every other breath). When anyone else is sick, however, she is The nurse. Soups, popsicles, hair pets, the whole nine yards.

Phoebe Halliwell - look, Pheebs was the youngest for a long time. She is absolutely whining the entire time and making it known that everything about being sick sucks. She is not trying to be annoying, but like. It sucks and it has to be known. When other people are sick, she like. tries? But Piper made homemade chicken noodle soup and Phoebe dumped some Campbell’s in a bowl, so. She’s great at the entertaining you while sick though, she has all of the movies to watch and gossip to catch you up on.

Paige Matthews - at first glance, you’d think she’s like Phoebe with the being terrible at being sick thing. And she is! But she tends to isolate herself more and hole up in a corner of her bed because it’s been a while since there’s been someone who could take care of her. Eventually, she starts learning how to let other people take care of her but it Is a Journey. On the flip side, she kinda just. left others alone when they were sick, but after having Piper take care of her when she was sick, she left meals on Piper’s nightstand with things like orange juice. She’s still not great at being comforting with the person though.

Leo Wyatt - in theory, a perfect patient. In practice, “I’m a doctor, I know what I’m doing.” Which? For other people? Sure, Leo’s a great caretaker. When it’s himself though? Baby, lie down please. The only one who can really wrangle him is Piper, mostly bc she doesn’t feel bad yelling at him to go back to bed. He isn’t trying to be a bad patient, but he spent like sixty years never getting sick and now he’s been brought down by the cold four-year-old Melinda’s class spread. (Piper teases him one time “Betcha regret becoming mortal now, huh?” And Leo, with a fever and has already thrown up once today, looks at her with adoring eyes and says, “To be with you? Never.”)

Andy Trudeau - a lot like Prue in that he hates resting. He’ll be working on a case while Darryl makes pointed comments about rest and sick days and not getting your partner sick. Eventually, however, he’ll actually take the sick day and rest (always in-between cases or when it’s time to go into field though). He’s a great caretaker though, not the superhuman type like Piper but just. good.

Darryl Morris - finally, someone who is a good patient! He’ll take the sick day and go home to his family. If it’s more than a few days though, he starts getting bored and will start going over case files. He always sheepishly puts them back once Sheila catches him and just gives him a deadpan look. He just hates the boredom part of being sick where you can’t really do anything. He’s a good caretaker though, but you will be getting your soup and gatorade at random times due to whenever he comes in.

Cole Turner - this man’s first cold was when he was over a century and he made it v clear that he thought he was cursed. Once they figured out that he just had a cold, Piper nearly did curse him. The mighty Belthazor brought down low by a couple of germs. It’d almost be funny if he didn’t nearly exhaust even Leo’s near limitless patience. On the flipside, he.... also has no idea how to caretake but he does try! He goes a little overboard tho and just provides unnecessarily dramatic solutions. (If things had went differently, he probably would have kidnapped a nurse to wait on Phoebe hand and foot during Queen of the Underworld arc while Phoebe went, what? no, I don’t need- COLE!)

Henry Mitchell - he denies that he’s sick and basically powers through it. Like Paige, he didn’t have anyone to care for him when he was sick but I also headcanon that he was. a bit worse off than Paige (who had Glen and his family and the mentioned exactly once Aunt Julie and Uncle Dave to turn to if she needed it, even if she wouldn’t choose to) so he didn’t really have much of a choice. He gets even grumpier when he’s sick though. Eventually, he also learns how to take it easy and let others care for him but he. struggles with it a lot. On the flipside, he’s a surprisingly good caretaker. It’s because he just does what he wishes he had someone there to do for him, which leads him pretty well. (I am also now imaging Henry with a sick teenage parolee and like. It’s cute. I can’t provide specifics but it’s really cute.)

Coop Halliwell - okay, based on how I indicated that Whitelighters and demons can’t get sick, I don’t think that I can make an argument for Cupids getting sick. So he doesn’t get sick, I guess. (Lucky him! Can’t relate.) He’s a really good caretaker though, especially with the comforting side. He’ll sing the girls to sleep and make toast and be really freaking sweet that no one can even be snarky about how he doesn’t get sick. (Piper tries once when she and the kids are sick while Leo is at some Magic School thing but then Coop and Phoebe come by and Phoebe is entertaining the kids while Coop makes lunch and cleans up the house so that Piper doesn’t have to worry about it and like. this is really good chicken noodle soup so she can’t say much.)

Chris Halliwell - literally, no one finds out that he’s sick unless he fucking passes out because he’s a dumbass who lived in a world where sickness was weakness and weakness meant dying so he just hides it until he physically can’t anymore. No one has a good time when this happens. It takes... awhile. for them to get through to him that he can tell them when he’s sick and they’ll help. He still doesn’t really like it and still struggles to share that info, but. it starts getting a little better and then he dies and it doesn’t matter anymore. Similarly, his response to others being sick is rooted in his time. He doesn’t particularly know how to handle it in the past, so he just. lets the others take over while he keeps a watch over the Manor, in case anyone tries anything while someone is down sick.

Billie Jenkins - she’s the type of person to insist that she won’t get sick and is brought down in the next chapter. She hates it and she grumbles but besides the whining, she’s actually a decent patient. She’ll take her meds and eat the soup and lie in bed, but just. lots of complaining. On the flip side, she’s. not exactly a stellar caretaker. She’s like twenty years old; they’re not exactly known for their caretaking ability and Billie is a lot of things, but a Mom Friend™ she is not.

Favorite character: Paige Matthews - the way she fit in post prue dying was brilliant and challenged them so well because she didn't grow up with them. Also she loved all aspects of magic. In her first like 3 episode there was a bit of wanting her old life back but then she threw herself into it. To the point where I was surprised she ended up with a mortal.

Least Favorite character: Coop - he added nothing for me but at least he made Phoebe happy in the last 5 minutes of the show.

a random thought: after season 5 they went overboard with the transformations and the sexy outfits. It was just too much. Also you can tell when brad kern (I think thats his name) took over the show.

An unpopular opinion: They went overboard with making Wyatt the most overpowered witch ever. Also the Christy storyline was interesting it was just put into the show at the wrong time.

My Canon OTP: Chris/Bianca

My Non-canon OTP: Phoebe/Kyra

Most Badass Character: Chris mostly because he was willing to do whatever was necessary to save the future. I feel like he would have gotten on with Prue or she would have killed him.

Most Epic Villain: Gideon because of how much he screwed them over long term and showed everything wrong with the elders.

Pairing I am not a fan of: Paige/Henry. I just wanted more for her I guess. Also Coop/Phoebe because it felt very much like oh the elders sent him I guess I'll marry him.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Leo with the avatar story arc. It just felt like they needed a big bad and a reason to return to working with the elders. Also the phoebe losing her baby storyline just being dropped when it became inconvenient.

That's so interesting you say that, because I just watched that episode and I have Thoughts. (CW for Phoebe's pregnancy loss)

This is the first time I've seen Womb Raider since being pregnant and having a baby myself. I've long praised Charmed for addressing issues such as motherhood, divorce, and miscarriages, but I can definitely see where the writing team fell down here. During the episode, Phoebe was determined that her baby was mostly good and her love could save it. I know at first she wasn't sure about being pregnant, but she'd had time to get used to it, and clearly wanted to keep the baby.

Then the cop-out. The Seer says "It was never yours. Or Cole's."

So Phoebe loses the baby and is like, meh, it wasn't mine???

The writers have Paige screaming at Phoebe that it's her body and she needs to stop the Seer... and then nothing?

Phoebe or Paige don't even tell Piper while she's in the cage that the baby's gone. Piper has to guess from context what's going on.

In the very next episode, Paige asks why Phoebe's changed her mind about wanting to be a witch and Phoebe says, "I don't know, maybe because I was the queen of all evil?" and doesn't even mention losing a baby??????????????????????????????

And people before have mentioned that Phoebe's extremely motherly reaction to Wyatt at the beginning was because she'd lost a baby herself - why didn't the show ever explicitly address this?

I just think if they're going to explore this extremely traumatic and heartbreaking issue, at least bring it up a couple of times later, RIGHT? They mention Andy after his death, they talk about Prue (not nearly enough, in my opinion). But it's like this episode never happened.

phoebe/coop bc like hear me out man they’re like the embodiment of love. we’ve been hit over the head so many time how they’re the embodiment of love and like salvation and rebirth and renewal like!! like part of me wishes that we had introduced coop in s5 and given him more skin in the game but also if they fucked up this relationship i would have been so bummed bc it really is. it’s love!! like it is the embodiment of falling in love like phoebe is stone cold right and she’s kind of starting to accept that maybe she just doesn’t get it you know. maybe that’s it. she gets her column and she gets to help people find love and see like piper and leo at peak domesticity and like engage in love, but like, remotely.because it’s not for her. and then here comes this cupid who’s like no i’m gonna find you love which is a cute gesture but like she genuinely doesn’t believe she’s made for love she genuinely doesn’t believe she gets to have love but then you know like. like her eyes get reopened to the world around her yes she engaged with love remotely but she had become so far removed from it that it lost the feeling. she saw it but she saw the individual brushstrokes and then here comes coop and he helps her take a step back and see the painting. and like!!! it’s beautiful. and then of course there’s the added trope of like. falling in love with coop he’s supposed to help you find love and now you know what the hell you’re trying but like. you’re in love with him. but you can’t be but you are. like!! and then on coop’s side you know he’s a cupid he’s been doing this for centuries and his love for humanity is obvious and his love for love is obvious but this is new. and he doesn’t know what it is!! like he knows love obviously but he’s never like you know fallen in love. and he can’t recognize it because he thinks it’s impossible but the next think you know he’s got all those lovesick symptoms he sees in the couples he puts together and oh my god he’s in love with phoebe. and then of course both believe the other won’t reciprocate bc it’s out of the realm of possibility. but then the other does reciprocate!! they also just like. i mean all three couple do but like phoebe and coop maybe the most. seem like the type of people who just kinda get lost in watching their partner work. like when phoebe is having trouble with a letter for her column she like paces and mutters the letter out loud to herself like she’s the one asking it and like bareface in pajamas like a crazy person is just repeating the same thing over and over again and coop’s just fucking in love with her like look at her!! and vice versa i don’t think coop has really spent that much time being human i think he takes absolute delight in small things phoebe has just forgotten about but to see coop’s face light up like at so flea market or something finding something that was undeniably crafted with love like he can feel it imbued in the item and his face just lights up and he wants to tell everyone how like it’s love!! love!! it’s all around us it’s in here can’t you feel it and phoebe just looks at him and remembers how pure love itself is and just how happy she is that you know. this is her life. and she gets to fall asleep and wake up next to this man like hello?? hello??!???! and then i’m gonna go 

paige/henry bc like i feel like they’re criminally underrated again bc we spedrun what should have been a slowburn but they gave me the legos and i will built the death star like. like these are two people who struggle with family and identity so much who have learned against their nature to lean into and grow with one another. like what we see of paige is a woman who loves her independence and loves her freedom and yesh has a complex relationship with family bc she was given up at birth but it didn’t matter because she found a loving family so who needs the ones who gave her up not her but she couldn’t help but wonder but she didn’t care she had her family. until she didn’t. until she was seventeen alone and scared and what are you supposed to do with that?? and let’s not even get started on the fact she only gains her new family through death as well. like. there’s so much there there are so many reasons to stay guarded and fearful and just overall pessimistic about the concept of family especially as something built to last. and then henry!!! who never knew his birth parents and on top of that never got a home like paige paige got a home she got a family who loved her hell she actually got two henry never had that henry always had nothing and like he kinda grew up in that shell said he didn’t want to leave when people started getting close he had to push them away bc he didn’t know who he was if he wasn’t alone and paige is like hey hi?? you wanna be alone so bad be alone but i actually fucking like you and i know you like me too so don’t just push me out because that’s what makes you feel "comfortable” when you know you’re miserable in your comfort. and she’s right but it’s still a hurdle for henry and it’s this push and pull of the tides where bit by bit they kind of have to learn that it’s lonely up on the pedestal of independence and it can actually be nice to be vulnerable with somebody yes it’s fucking terrifying to just like show yourself to someone honestly because like!! they can turn away what if they turn away but to experience the rewards of love we must first subject ourselves to the morifying ordeal of being known. and it’s a painful process for both of them but the fruits of those labors man it’s well fucking worth it and it’s a relationship especially on henry’s side that is plagued with external insecurities other people telling him that he is not cut from the right cloth to be with paige but like. it’s like he’s already torn down his walls to be with her and she’s done the same and he realizes he loves her like He Loves Her like. like!! who gives a fuck what anyone else says he loves paige. and then paige reciprocates omg!!! haha fuck yeah. and then like i also think henry’s just super fuckin corny levels of domestic like makes french toast every sunday and fingerpaints with his kids and is in the dad’s club at the elementary school and just does all the things that he fuckin prayed for as a child  just a constant stable feeling of home of love and like. like!!!! i’m gonna bite someone like. paige&henry man.

piper/leo though as previously established is like Thee charmed couple you know they are there all eight seasons they get points for that but obviously from reading my first two ones i kinda just fill in a lot of gaps there which i am able to do bc each couple probably checks in at 150min of screentime total. piper and leo don’t get that so like i don’t get to do that. and like. the origins of them i just don’t quite get you know which was really just cause it was such a new show and this was a new lil relationship they weren’t sure what they were gonna do with it and then again like issues with canon and the whole whitelighter thing but what i would have loved to see more in the early stages is just like why. like obviously they both found the other cute but we never really got the Moments bc it was all so preferrial and then next thing you know leo’s dying in the attic and piper loves him like i would have loved the in between and a bit more of the internal monologue the jump then fall especially on leo’s part which is like canon’s fault but like. you know like why if he was a whitelighter and knew the rules blah blah blah and it was because the writers didn’t know but like. still you know. and then s2 was bogged down my dan and i just really didn’t care for it that much because like. idk i didn’t love a lot of leo’s vibes early s2 were he was trying to keep it strictly professional and just ended up coming across as weirdly bitter and possessive however i Loved him bonding with dan in pardon my past that was a nice touch. of course later seasons pleo really makes up for the lackluster of the early seasons bc they are just so domestic like they know each others strengths so well and leo loves piper’s cooking and they’re corny n cute and they have their little moment and i do mostly like their relationship therapy bits i like that that was incorporated bc like. it happens man it’s not something to keep taboo it happens. but i do feel like that shit was often resolved too quick and then the same shit dredged up ten minutes later like some one trick pony. i also love how ride or die they are points for that. leo’s like i killed an elder and piper’s like alright. they’re really in it through thick n thin n i respect that

Hey, I just wanted to say I'm a Charmed fan too and also loved Prue and Phoebe's dynamic. I hated the way Phoebe's lie about Cole strained their relationship again in season 3 (especially after making so much progress in the first two seasons), then Prue died before they got a chance to truly reconcile. I can also see why you love Prue/Jack, their relationship certainly had a Moonlighting like dynamic to it. My feelings are so torn, as much as I love Paige, I still HATE that Prue was killed off!

I don't necessarily mind their s3 storyline because I love conflict and drama lmao. I know the whole show was based on the strength of their sistership so there was not a lot of conflict between the sisters that went beyond one episode but like... Prue and Phoebe were the exception I think. They had conflict from day one. Which I think is why they're my favorite ngl. So yeah, I mean you can make the argument that it's silly to fight with your sister over a boy (which is 100% true) but this is TV and frankly it didn't feel out of character for either of them. So I was personally okay with it.

The problem is, like you said, that Prue dies and it's just... well, I don't think they were on bad terms tbh, but it's a bit unresolved. So that last season does almost undermine all the progress they made because they never got to rebuild the trust. But even going this route, they could have done it better. I'm talking like... to me, Prue's death is so tragic partly because it's so unexpected and out of the blue. Sometimes people die and you don't get to make things right with them. So they could have given us a message smg along the lines of "don't take your loved ones for granted". But that never happened because Phoebe never even mourned Prue, or at least not on screen. Like never once did she have a moment of "if I didn't go to the underworld to save my demonic boyfriend, my sister would still be alive." I'm not saying it was her fault at all but you'd think it's smg that crosses her mind at some point. I wanted the survivor's guilt, I wanted the regret over not settling things with Prue before she died. But Charmed just wrote storylines so weirdly and shallowly, like they never considered anything beyond the episode they were currently writing.

My feelings are also conflicted on that tbh. Prue is my favorite one and I wish she didn’t have to die, but I also cannot imagine never introducing Paige. She was such a big part of the show, you know? Wish we could have it both ways, but that’s also kinda cheap. Idk man.

I think the resident Prue & Jack fan is actually @phoebehalliwell. I’m not gonna lie, I never cared for Jack mostly because the show never made it seem like he could ever be someone Prue would be seriously interested in. Like she seemed to kinda settle, and I hate that for her. Idk if that’s just my interpretation or what, that’s the vibes I got. But I respect everyone’s ships because god knows I have my crazy ones too <3 At the end of the day, I really just wanted Prue to meet and be happy with the love of her life, whoever that was (yes yes Andy, but he’s dead ok, and people can have more than one great loves in their life, which would have been also a cool message to portray had she not died)

I'm rewatching Charmed, I used to love it when I was a kid/teenager, and I still love it, but I'm not looking forward to Prue dying. I remember I liked Paige enough when I was a kid, but I didn't have high expectations back then, I was too young and mostly happy with whatever. And I like Prue, I love Prue, she's my favourite. I hope I'll still enjoy those five seasons (although I remember the final one was pretty awful and Leo isn't around as much and Phoebe doesn't end up with Cole).

Shannen Doherty needs to stop making me fall in love with her characters and then taking them away, I'm still upset about Brenda too.
