people love going "we can recognise how men are hurt by patriarchy without minimising the harm done to women" and then minimising the harm done to women

re: tags on that office job post. yeah i might have delusions of grandeur enough to think i ought to be the 1% "special exception" but i guess i don't really see why that incites such ire in so many people. what's the point of being alive if not to dream big?
#I think its very much a threat to the mindset that people are brought up with#Like I remember in school being told that the correct path was school uni then 9-5 job#and jobs in media theatre or writing was considered to be such an outlier that it was never even brought up as an option#now being an influencer or online creator is an option that in theory anyone can go for and actually get success in#so it threatens that core belief that people internalized of 'the correct path'#Also when I talk to people older than me they dont actually get the standard lifestyle influencers and think that they are cheating#into having a career because it isn't a real one however#the podcasters are not which also gets into the gender demographics of how primarily lifestyle influences are predominately female and how#the podcasts they listen to are predominately male#Like I have my own issues with influencers in general which centers around overconsumption#exploitation of kids#how they encourage misinformation and other opinions like that#but looking at youtube and how people have made careers off of that vs how tik tok sped run that process up is interesting#also makes me wonder about the longevitiy of those careers especially seeing how many youtubers could not sustain it previously#this turned into a real rant because I'm on the train rn but I think its such an interesting topic

sex is fine but have you ever thought about all the ways you’d rewrite a flawed piece of media that shaped your life and holds a special place in your heart despite its unfulfilled potential

every time there’s suddenly a hate campaign against a female celebrity, the internet comes forward with their attitude of “i know the LAST one turned out to be a misogynistic and manipulative smear campaign after a woman was being abused and taken advantage of, but THIS TIME it’s real and justified” and then it never is and the cycle just repeats endlessly

many so called feminist need to realise that "believe women when they raise their voice against sexual harrasment" also applies to women you don't like

Full names and details of every man who was convicted of raping Gisèle Pelicot. The list includes 50 men who could be identified, besides Gisèle's husband, ranging in age from 27 to 74. Among them are a firefighter, a journalist, a nurse, a construction worker, and a prison guard. Most have families of their own, and only about half had previous convictions.

watching WB keep resetting dc movies' universe every three years because they don't have a backbone to go full in with one iteration used to irk me but i've come to realize it's the most literal comics experience you can get on the big screen

5-25% off is a discount, 30-50% off is a deal, and 60-90% off is clearance. I'm TRUELY SICK of being lured to a clearance section for a measly 20% like please be serious

teens these days with their heartstopper easily accessible streaming on netflix don’t understand what it was like being 15 in 2016 and ur favorite show is a norwegian gay teen tv show that has no official english translation so the only way to watch it is on google drive. and if you’re watching it while it’s airing god help you because every time a new clip drops you have to wait for the translation tumblr accounts to post a transcript so you can at least read that before the fan translators have time to add english subtitles to the episodes and post them on the google drive. and when you try to recommend the show to anyone you have to be like trust me it’s such a great show here’s a link to the GOOGLE DRIVE.

I talk about female solidarity every so often and get misinterpreted over what I mean when I say it so to be very clear when I say solidarity I don't mean everyone needs to be buddy buddy with every woman and view her as a sister. It just means even if you hate a woman down to her bones you can at least agree she deserves a life free from violence and be willing to throw your lot in for the sake of shared interests.
I'll give an example I recently observed from men. A man on here was asked why he was always so eager to defend a celebrity when he was accused of violence and he replied that it's about pursuing the truth but also realising that in the event he was ever accused he would want someone to defend him and look at the facts. That is precisely the energy I think women should have for one another on similar matters.
Do it because in general men might often take the other side for their own interests and you might not be able to rely on that support.
