Killer is the only one Nightmare can't track down easily, since he can feel the others by emotion but can't usually sense Killer's unless he's in stage 1.
This is a small part of why he and Color got off on the wrong foot, because the first time Color and Killer met was when he was helping Dream fight them and he managed to pull Killer away from the main fight to try and reason with him. While they were doing that, Nightmare decided to retreat but couldn't see Killer around and couldn't find him using emotions, so he had to leave without him. (He did return later to scour the place and found Killer waiting for him, since he'd refused Color's offer to go with them.)
This became a running theme, where sometimes after a battle Killer would be gone without a trace because he was off fighting/talking with Color and Nightmare would have to come back for him later. It's also what makes Nightmare a little uneasy in present day about Killer running off to hang out with Color sometimes, because if Color succeeds in convincing Killer not to return, Nightmare has no way of tracking him down anymore. He just has to trust that Killer will return at some point, and wait.
#UTDR#UTMV#Nightmare Sans#Killer Sans#Color Sans#Dadmare#I dunno why this came to mind earlier but here it is anyway#Just a couple random hcs bundled together#About how Killer and Color met and operated at the start in my mind at least#The more they met and Color didn't poke or pry at Killer to change his situation#Their meetings became less fighting and more just. sneaking out of sight to talk#Color is new and interesting and Killer likes bothering him but he needs to be out of Nightmare's view to do it#Otherwise somebody else might jump in to ''help'' him and end up getting Color hurt#Also maybe Nightmare would be mad he was talking to an enemy#Nightmare was less mad and more worried because he was starting to get attached to Killer around the time this became more frequent#And if Killer doesn't come back it's not like he can put up wanted posters or go around the omega timeline looking for him#He would just be gone and the idea of just replacing Killer with a new one was starting to not sit right with him#Also I love mirroring their situations a little#With Killer that first time waiting patiently for Nightmare to return for him after they were seperated#And Nightmare now having to wait patiently in the hope that Killer will return to him after he's stayed with Color for a bit#I dunno if I had a point to this but Nightmare and Color have a very tenious sort of truce#It is never more than one misinterpreted action away from an all out fight#It is unclear to all involved whether Killer is blissfully unaware of this shaky ground or if he's managing both sides like a pro

The more you think about it, the most pressing question about Fenoglio's Inkheart isn't "who in the hell was the protagonist of it?" (it's either Cosimo, the Prince, or, y'know, the guy the literal title refers to - or all three of them), but rather "what in the raging hell was the Shadow's deal?" considering he was immortal, implied to be invincible, could only be destroyed by being rewritten, and as much of an asshole as his boss to the point where you wonder how this guy was dealt with in-story unless the ending saw Capricorn not just get away with everything but also win

jump scared by the 4th Doctor saying "well" with an uncanny intonation to how 10 says it, except I thought that was just a David Tennant-ism considering he does it in everything eventually, like, that CAN'T have started with him copying this cadence and absorbing it into his being? Right?
#I'm a season in on Baker and I understand now#his entire presence is in his voice which is of course impossible to see in random pictures and such#INCREDIBLY deep and rich voice#and while his performance is to me otherwise probably upper-middle-tier so far#the writing has taken a huge jump in quality even while staying in the serial format which sets some pretty dreadful pacing limitations#that have so far been the bane of all 12 seasons I've watched#what with demanding a silly fake cliffhanger 3-5 times a story and thus getting everyone kidnapped and imperilled way beyond common sense#the writing is either good enough to compensate#or they're going less out of their way to move everyone around like chess pieces to be in peril on the dot#and after binging this much of it even one smooth episode transition per serial is a relief#and then of course Baker is delivering all the lines with that sonorous voice and smoothing it all over further#I can see why people would advise starting with Baker simply because the episodes feel more digestible and easy to chew#of course having started at the start#the improvement scale I'm working on is rather warped :P#several B&W era Who I was fully showing up For Science with an anthropology hat on to study 1960s britain#because it was all such a hurdle#this is just like. just a few little bits from the past few days
#both the word count screenshots are from the same day - just different sections of the text. so that was like 4000 words in#one DAY.. huzzah!! (< making up for the fact that I did 0 words the 3 days before that lol.. so its not actually an accomplishment ghjjh)#In renpy I think you can have multiple separate texty cody whatever documents and still jump between them so long as they;re#labeled properly. Rather than like... having one extremely long 60.000 line file where in some places youre in a menu within a menu#within a menu within a menu within a menu within a menu within a menu jhbhj#But that was the way I started doing it lke 5 years ago when I actually made the base of everything so I feel like it'd be too much#work to change it all that dramatically now. But that means I cant just get the word count for the whole document I just have#to jump around to the few sections I worked on and highlight them to get the word count for only that portion#.. the one tiny fraction of the whole monster text wall. Though it is of course spaced out and organized into#clearly labeled sections within that because otherwise I have trouble discerning text on a screen. still.#Resuming a project that's been basically abandoned for 4-5 ish years is just always finding weird stuff like.. why did I do this that way..#why did I write that... why did I organize that in this manner... what the hell am I referencing in this note... etc. lol#Anyway... also......................cat with plum on his head.#everyone point and laugh at mr. plum head boy..!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:3c#I've been obsessed with Calico Critters' social media presence from afar (like how I mentioned one of my possible dream jobs would#be to be the person that sets the scenes and arranges all the toy animals at a tiny little table and etc. to take the type of pictures they#post on their facebook page and stuff) and I see all their photos of them posing the rabbits as if they're in a swimming pool#or on a nature hike or etc. etc. BUT I have never really seen them in person. Its like meeting a celebrity.. the Latte Cats....#Of course I didnt buy them because they're like... very expensive?? like $25 - $40 just for one little pack of a few critters like#what is shown. but.... Sometimes watching new shows with adhd is "everyone says this show is So Good and i WANT to watch it but i just CAN'T START IT right now" and other times it's "adrian was watching House and pointed out this kid is macgyver in macgyver (2016) so i went huh i should rewatch that i watched it with dad when i was 14-16 years old and turns out we DO have it on streaming so now I'm watching macgyver (2016)"

I avoided jumping when I was a kid because when I jumped it shook the whole house#because of all the old furniture#and I don’t like being the source of loud noises#But now that I live in my own apartment that doesn’t do that; I jump whenever I damn well please and it’s wonderful#I also will rock myself to EXHAUSTION in a rocking chair#and I roll myself with my arms while sitting on a skateboard in my living room while listening to a music box#sometimes I hold it right up to my ear#Anyway the jumping makes sense because as a baby according to my parents I’d kick a “kicky toy” for HOURS and HOURS#and I had one of those baby bouncer things where the baby is in the middle and can bounce and spin around#with a whole bunch of toys around the baby#and every time my parents brought that thing out baby me would start straight up vibrating#I always go for the rocking chair in any room I’m in and prefer ledges to chairs otherwise because I can dangle my legs

You know, I'm glad that some of us take the step to embrace things that we like even if they're "cringe" or "objectively bad"
But perhaps we could take the next step forward and embrace the idea of reading into books/shows/movies/etc even if they don't seem deep. Perhaps we could understand that the two kinds of media aren't either "shallow and meaningless so you're weird and brainrotted to read into it" or "incredibly and profoundly deep in every way so if you don't analyze every single angle of the thing then you're brainrotted". Some media is deeper than others, but all I propose is that no matter how deep it seems it's acceptable to dig into the thing and take the media seriously instead of just assuming that because of ____ thing (such as target audience or how cringe it is) the media not deep and will never be deep and everything good about it happened on accident.
