At first he didn’t understand, his thick fur more than protected him against the cold days, and it wasn’t like a piece of scarf around his neck would make much difference, if that was really a necessity.

The confusion ended when he opened the scarf, eager to wear it.

In one part, a single word, in white capital letters.

DEMON

A smile filled his eyes. The next year a sweater joined his scarf. And the year after that, a beanie. The last one, with a HV on it.

So Rio wouldn’t be so much angry about it.

After that, Rio gave up denying it. He had hoped she wouldn’t. He loved watching the two of them argue about who was right, the smile in his purple witch’s face whenever she called him a demon and Rio getting mad at it.

As Agatha would say, he was her demon.

When Rio was there he would hide the demon part, he didn’t want his green witch thinking he was betraying her and choosing Agatha’s side on their ongoing fight. Agatha knew he was a species from Death’s realm, she just liked to tease her wife.

But he also loved all the clothes his purple witch made, and Agatha knew it. And Rio always found it cute, she just wouldn’t admit.

They were his miladies.

And he was their demon. Their red eyes little demon.

I just wanted to say, to those people who are saying Agatha did not grow at all. You are wrong.

She’s centuries old and her mother, the person who was supposed to love her no matter what not only turned against her and tried to kill her but also turned her entire community against her.

She has been alone for so so long, always having to look out for herself and only herself because no one else was. So the type of character growth everybody wanted could not in anyway ever happen in a 9 episode series. It is impossible and would have just been so untrue and wrong to the character.

The only reason she cared about Billy in the first place is because she projected her son onto him. Even when all the clues were right in front of her eyes about his true identity, she wanted to cling on to the hope that Nicky was back. So it’s kind of hard to figure out who she actually cares about. Billy? Or just the parts of him that remind her of her own son? Especially when she seems to care about him quite a bit before betraying him.

But, I think betrayal is so ingrained in Agatha. She always has had to put herself first, in her mind it’s either betray or be betrayed, so she chooses her own survival over his. Keep in mind that right before, she had heard him say ‘ Agatha Harkness will never be more than a covenless witch’. (She remembers this since she mentions it after betraying him) That was when he thought he was all alone with Jennifer. So obviously, when Billy later on says ‘you’re not so bad’ Agatha Harkness who has been betrayed so much by her own community, by her own witchkin, who just heard him say what he did behind her back, won’t trust him. Won’t trust that he really cares about her or sees the good in her. At least not enough to sacrifice her own life. Not when she’s spent literal centuries protecting it. So she does what she has always done to survive. And she betrays him.

But, Agatha has grown. She’s learnt that not all witches will turn against her. That some witches, will even sacrifice themselves to protect her (Lilia and Alice) She helped Billy find his brother’s soul and find a body for it, she wouldn’t have done that in ep1, she would’ve made him power her up first at least. She actually listened to Lilia’s advice, smth I’m not sure she would’ve done either had it been the same witch in ep1. And I think her kissing Rio was a way for her to show a tiny bit of forgiveness. Of understanding. She could’ve stolen her powers in any other way but she chose to do it by full on making out. I like to think she kissed her because she didn’t know if she could touch Rio when she became a ghost and wanted to have one last kiss with her. That perhaps is the biggest growth for Agatha. Forgiveness and letting down her guard again. Forgiving her community and forgiving Rio. The two biggest heartbreaks of her life.

This doesn’t mean she doesn’t have more to grow, but we have not been watching the same show if you think she didn’t progress at all.

I just have to say that everyone calling Agathario "toxic" is kind of annoying. I can see how it LOOKS that way, but I don't really see it.

Rio taking Nicky? Not toxic. Her job.

Agatha getting pissed about it? Not toxic. FULLY understandable, her son died and Rio had to reap his soul.

Rio and Agatha fighting when Agatha wakes up from Wanda's spell? Not exactly toxic. We've all had fights with our exes after our breakup 😅 Just not with knives. But they're magical and we're not. So maybe we would idk 😂 Plus, Rio HEALED Agatha at the end of it, sooooo

The Last Battle? Not toxic. Rio was again, doing her job. She needed either Billy's soul or Agatha's and Agatha refused to go with her when she didn't keep her end of the deal. At that point, it became about the divine balance of life and death to Rio. She clearly didn't want Agatha to die. She was devastated when she did

Agatha refusing to go? Not toxic. We're all afraid of dying, obviously. But she revealed she is afraid to see Nicky on the other side. Probably afraid of having to explain to him why she couldn't save him. Also maybe a little afraid of running into Evanora over there too.

So I understand feeling upset we got no Agathario backstory. I'm still PISSED about that. But I'm very sad to see "fans" calling such a great ship toxic when we never saw real evidence of their relationship before the Nicky shit happened to know if that were true or not. When we have seen them, it has ONLY BEEN as exes, so I don't think they are toxic.

I think AGATHA is individually toxic toward everyone though 😅 But what can I say? I'm still madly in love with her 😅😭

(But again, we don't know if she was toxic toward Rio during their relationship cause we didn't get to ever see them together)

Also, if they were toxic, I don't think Rio would have given Agatha extra time with Nicky. She did that out of pure love which was against the rules. How is that toxic???

I wrote this because of people saying they are sick of getting queer representation as toxic relationships, but I think (besides skipping Agathario's backstory) the writers didn't do too bad with them as a match

hey I always wandered why do you chose certain characters in roles for your DC au like sonic as Harley Quinn or knuckles as bat man?

also I love your content btw!

usually i just choose what character roles i think would be interesting to explore for that character, or just what would be most fun

like when you think of Sonic in the dc universe you would instantly think ‘ok he would be the flash’, and its true that he would probably make a pretty good flash and a good story could come out of that, or maybe making Amy ‘harley quinn’ and again lots of character stuff you could do with that

But those options kinda just. write themselves tbh, its a bit too easy for me to just choose those options and call it a day cuz just looking at them you’d get their entire deal.

So when im choosing character roles im basically asking myself, not just ‘what sonic character would fit in this dc role the best’ but ‘what would this specific sonic character have to do/go through to become some version of this character’ or ‘what how would this dc role have to be moulded to fit this sonic character’

lets take Shadow for example!

he was the first person i made Shadow would obviously be batman, just looking at him and his backstory he would make an amazing batman, he fits that pretty well no question

but at the time i made Shadow poison ivy, i was reading the the comic series ‘Poison Ivy: The Virtuous Cycle’, it went into detail into Ivy’s hatred for humanity and how they’re destroying the planet, and how she plans to kill all of them off (including herself) in order to save it. It was so interesting to think about her hatred for humanity this way, so interesting that my brain was like ‘wow if when shadow woke up from his cryostasis and learnt all this he’d probably wanna kill humanity even more lol’

then i thought about it more, Poison Ivy cares deeply for the environment and basically wants to kill all humans cuz they’re destroying the planet and giving Shadow that role kinda adds another layer to that because human’s are destroying the world that Maria so desperately wanted to see and he can literally feel the planet dying cuz of that plant connection + the fact that he was created artificially in a lab by humans (plus alien deadbeat) away from the planet and having that intrinsic connection to that planet below the Ark his whole life, a direct connection to the planet that Maria loved so much, a connection that he would’ve never fully known the extent of if GUN hadn’t raided.

So what if wanting to destroy the planet, he wanted to save it and to save it he had eradicated a certain ‘infestation’, humanity.

that was super interesting to me to explore as a concept so Poison Ivy!Shadow, the first character in my dc au was born!!!

it’s important to me that though im making Shadow and Ivy have the same role im not just copypasting Ivy’s backstory onto Shadow, they’re different characters and those backstories aren’t necessarily interchangeable, different things happened to make them who they are and one might not work for the other.

And if i do make the backstory similar, i wanna make changes so i can justify why they made these choices, like with what i did Sonic

Sonic’s dc au backstory follows similar beats as Harley Quinn’s backstory, but i added some details make it more believable for me to understand how Sonic could ever became what Harleen Quinzel became. So i started him out Nicky from the sonic manga, an insecure, weak, nerdy kid that’s easy for people to beat up and pick on, so he’d be someone with vulnerabilities and insecurities. Then i had Tails and Amy be his number 1 protectors cuz he can’t protect himself, his insecurities deepening cuz of this (not only can he not protect himself, he doesn’t even have the strength to protect them), he lived in the worst place in gotham, etc. Basically a lot of stuff that Eggman could use to exploit and manipulate him.

this made it really interesting and fun for me to delve into his mindset and see how he would tick!

then from Sonic’s kidnapping came Tails and Amy’s motivations to become vigilantes, to save their friend, people like their friend and to stop people like the joker from hurting them

other times times i just make the choices based on vibes and what would fit the plot <3

this character exploration and thinking process is why i personally don’t allow ppl to make character suggestions for any of my aus, cuz its really a personal process of picking out roles and dissecting them in my brain

but yh that’s pretty much why i picked who i picked lol

How did Agatha and Rio met: My theory/headcanon

Since the actual series didn't answer this question, I decided to write what I think could be how they met (and fell in love) based on tidbits given in the series and information said in interviews.

According to Jac Schaeffer, one of the idea for how they met was Agatha killing people and then seeing Rio across the bodies, like that line, “They met over corpses.” I think that could have happened when Agatha killed her original coven, she saw Rio coming to collect their bodies.

Usually, people who aren't about to die can't see her (unless Rio chose to reveal herself to them). Agatha could be among the rare ones who can see her because she practices forbidden and taboo magic. The danger it puts her through means death could constantly await her, and this closeness to death makes her able to perceive Rio. Of course it'd be the same for other people in similar situation, but I do think Agatha reacted differently from being able to see the personification of Death compared to most people.

Agatha is someone who is curious by nature, so as soon as she laid eyes on Rio amongst the corpse, she became intrigued by her. I like to think she was too shocked the first time to actually talk to her so Rio disappeared before she could.

Then obviously, Agatha kept getting into situations where she'd end up killing people, either other witches who knew about her reputation and were trying to kill her, or witch hunters. I like to think for that period of her life, most of Agatha's killing was somewhat "justified". Most were done in self-defence, even if she definitely put herself into dangerous situations so she'd have to kill. All of this because she wanted to see Rio again. She was the one who was pursuing Death and was enamoured with her.

At one point Agatha managed to talk to her. Rio was surprised since usually, people don't see her. She was also surprised that a mortal was actually looking for her. She's used to people who managed to see her would be scared or angry at her, or actually wanting to die. Agatha was different. And that is what started Rio's interest in her. Agatha was the first person who wanted to see her and desired her as a person, who was actively chasing after her, and not to die but to be with her. According to Jac Schaeffer, Rio is the only person who told her she was valuable, that she meant something and that she was special. I think Rio thinking that could be in line with what I said, Agatha is different from any mortal she interacted with, which does make her special to her.

As for Agatha, Jac Schaeffer mentioned she is attracted to power. But she's also afraid of death. She doesn't want to die. So a relationship with actual Death is a way for her to keep death at arm's length and keep herself safe. Agatha is fascinated by death, by this force of nature, and having Death herself be in love with her makes her feel powerful. As Jac Schaeffer said, she has literal Death whipped, Agatha is the one with the upper hand. It does make her feel powerful and special.

I do think Agatha is the first and only person Rio ever fell in love with. Rio is the first and only person Agatha truly fell in love with. And despite the centuries, their love still persisted. Despite Agatha also hating Rio now, she still loves her. Their bond was strong enough to break through the Scarlet Witch's spell.

And that's part of the reason why I don't think their relationship fully ended after Nicky's death. That and some details in the show that just wouldn't work with them staying apart for centuries. New! Dad Aaron Davis...Baby Steps

As a baby/ toddler Aaron would play you music to calm you down, you became so clingy as a baby you would grip onto his shirt for dear life when he tried to put you down, so much so he ended up getting a baby harness so he could walk around with you on him and still use his arms, and sure he thought it looked a bit stupid, but he thought strollers were to big and bulky, but when he was and about in the streets he was always so cautious of people walking or bumping into him, when it was cold he would make sure you were wrapped up snugly and would zip up his jacket to cover you in up until your head so you could see your sourundings, and so people were less likely to walk into him.

He would dress you up in little bows n shit, and would always turn to Rio for help when he felt lost, for exsample...

Aaron: Rio help the baby is rolling around in circles help Rio: That's good Aaron it means she's learning Aaron: She wont STOP!

When he wanted to work out he would put those wrist weights on your hands so you couldn't move because he was scared you'd fall off something.

Felt very left out of the single, or new parent community, when he went too play groups Mom's etheir assumed your Mom was dead, or that Aaron was 'letting her have a day off' and when they asked him, even though he didn't think it was anyone's buisness he would tell them she was dead, and once they heard that women would almost swoon for such a sob story.

REFUSES for you to be an Ipad baby, fully smacked one out of your hand when some other kid's Mom handed you one, would force you to entertain yourself with doll's...and you weren't mad that just meant you got more dolls.

As a baby you despised Uncle Jeff, you would scram and cry and whack him with your tiny hands until he handed you to your Dad or Rio, she would assure him it was nothing personal but Jeff just thought you hated him.

Once you got older, Aaron was not well liked by other parents once you entered middle school, Aaron played A LOT of rap music round the house and you obviously picked up some words that other parents would not like, on the way to school in the car he was playing...

First off, fuck your bitch and the clique you claim Westside when we ride, come equipped with game You claim to be a player, but I fucked your wife...

And while you and Aaron went along with the lyrics he pulled up outside your school and placed a hand on your shoulder.

Aaron: "Don't be repeating ay of this at school yeah?"

Y/n: "Sure Dad"

*Later that day after Diaspro tried to put gum in your hair*

Y/n: "DIASPRO! You goldie locks bugged eyed bitch, built like a fucking mars bar, you put gum in my hair I'll cut all yours OFF"

*Silent room of shock*

If it weren't for you Aaron would not be a closeted Barb, he would NEVER listen to Nicki with anyone else in the house unless it was you or Miles, and whenever she came out the a new album you two would have a small listening party.

New Death Note Swap AU:

L and Light are Super Stars while Misa is both the World's Greatest Detective and Kira.

HERE ME OUT.

L was first on the pop scene in 1999, made music under the name "L" and quickly dominated the UK top hits billboard, going international within a few years. Started humble, but with the support of Quilish, was able to get a record deal and it soared from there. Basically, instead of becoming a detective, he became a voice artist.

Light, on the other hand, started his music career after he had a breakdown due to, y'know. Extreme boredom, pressure, and depression because of his lifestyle. It led to him running away because he didn't want to watch his family be ashamed of him. But, with Light being Light, he was able to find work as a small time idol under the name "Kira." Of course, he became super popular, started writing songs in English to appeal to an overseas audience, and went international in 2004. (L is 22, Light is 18)

(BTW, very important, their music styles are based off of gwen stefani, lady gaga, and some nicki minaj, basically they make 2000s/early 2010s dance floor pop music)

L and Kira were household names by 2006, and by god. Did they not like eachother. It started when Light as a rising star was compared to and accused of copying L, but even though it was obvious to anyone with ears that Light's music was more manic than L's heavier beats, it sparked a dislike in Light that boiled over when they met eachother at a red carpet event where L called Kira trashy. They were both drunk and ended up fighting one another, which created a huge rivalry.

(Imagine two twinks in designer paris hilton-esque y2k fashion just beating the shit out of each other in front of the paparazzi, because that is their aesthetics in this AU)

For years, they sang shit to each other in their music, entire diss sections added for each other. On the internet, it became known as "the kira/L bits" in their respective songs.

Then, Shinikami appeared in 2006, and the detective Misa Misa was on the case.

And nothing changed for them for a few months, until Gelus saved them at a party in California from a crazy gunman. Then, when they were staying in the same room at a celebrity hospital, Rem drops Gelus's Death Note in front of them.

And they fight over it, touching it at the same time and sharing ownership because of it.

Rem is annoyed by them at first, but decides to protect the brats as Gelus's dying wish.

After they learn about the source of Shinikami's power's, they're pissed. Attention hasn't been on them because of this supernatural killer!

Oh, and uh, killing people is bad and whatever...

It's unacceptable!

Buying the shinigami eyes with the extra life-force gifted to them by Gelus (they each have 1 shinigami eye due to shared ownership of the death note), they set out undercover to go find Shi and take em down with a panty and stocking type dynamic!

Misa, who has smugly been playing against herself this whole time while Ryuk watched, has no idea what shit is about to hit the fan...

End game is LightxL and RemxMisa obviously hehe

I decided to create a series for Andromache (my beloved). Here’s part 1, part 2, and part 3

Summary: Your first mission does not go according to plan

A/N: Aside from being very difficult for me to write, this is probably the darkest I've ever gotten in terms of physical violence. So, uh, Happy Halloween I guess?

The plan was based off Buenos Aires 1822 (not 1922 as you had incorrectly assumed at first) which was a reference you obviously didn’t understand but was being explained to you in the most hectic way possible.

“Wait, so Nicky was decapitated-”

“Half decapitated. I didn’t actually die!”

“But you were quite light-headed for the rest of the day, my dear.” Joe feigned concern, brushing the back of his hand across his partner’s forehead and smiling like a fool.

Your leader was having none of it.

“Can we be serious please?” Immediately, the entire group’s focus shifted back to the Scythian. She certainly wasn’t going to admit it but she was apprehensive with this being your first mission. For months, you’d been doing nothing but training and begging her to let you in on the action until she was finally forced to give in. The instinct to keep you safe gnawed at Andy while it became increasingly difficult to ignore how your desire to prove your worth would only continue to grow. She recognized the same frustrations in a much younger version of herself and remembered how reckless it drove her to be.

“I’d rather we didn’t repeat that portion this time, agreed?”

You all nodded.

They laid out all the details about the traffickers and the group of people you were meant to rescue. It was an estimated 25-40 women and older girls being smuggled through for undoubtedly unpleasant purposes Andy didn’t get too detailed with. She, Joe, and Nico planned to storm the ship when it completely docked and most of the crew was on land retrieving supplies and weapons. That would leave only a few guards standing between them and the captives, who were most likely being held somewhere below deck. Once they find them, you and Booker would bring in the truck to help get everyone out. It sounded simple enough, but the fact that it was meant to go off without a hitch somehow doubled the amount of pressure you were applying to yourself. They had all done this at least once before, so if things went south then it was all because of you.

A few hours passed and you sat next to Booker in the passenger seat of the truck parked a couple of meters away from the ship and near a loading dock. With the engine off it was starting to get increasingly cold, but you didn’t even mind the chill at that point. You needed to be as alert as possible for what was to come.

Booker clearly sensed your apprehension. “It’s okay to be nervous, we’re not going to let anything bad happen to you.” He kept his voice low and his eyes glued on the dock entrance while you tried to do the same. 

Your mind was wrapped up in much bigger concerns. “I’m not worried about that. What if something goes wrong because of me? If I get hurt then so be it, I just don’t want to endanger anyone else when their lives and freedom are at stake.”

“You’ll be fine. Trust your training and lean on your team if you need help. That’s what we’re here for.” He offered you an encouraging smile that you attempted to return the best you could, yet you also wished he wouldn’t look at you with so much sympathy all of the time. As much as you appreciated everything they had done for you, you longed to show the others that you were capable of carrying your own weight and didn’t need someone to hold your hand constantly.

The two of you settled into a silence that was occasionally filled with a comment or two about nothing in particular. It didn’t do much to settle your nerves. You watched as dozens of muscular men left in packs, each one armed with at least a pistol that Booker taught you how to spot. He translated some of the French he could hear them speaking, which was mostly crude, misogynistic banter that made your jaw clench up.

“Good to know that men are pigs in basically all cultures,” you murmured mostly to yourself and tried to get your jaw to relax. Surprisingly, it earned you a gratifying laugh from the Frenchman and you were relieved when he didn’t take your comment too personally. 

“For the most part, I don’t disagree.”

“How will Andy and the others know when all of them have left?” You changed the subject upon the realization that the rest of the guard was hidden somewhere no one would see them, not even you. It was still difficult to imagine they had a better scouting position than the near-direct view you did.

“Don’t worry, they’ll know,” Booker assured you in a slightly amused tone. Some secrets were still too complicated for you to know about yet, you supposed.

Almost a half hour later, three heads eventually peered up through the shadows and Andy, Joe, and Nico lifted themselves up onto the ship. Perfectly lit by hues of the full moon, they danced towards their destination, the sheer coordination and skill reminding you of just how experienced they were. With Andy leading the pack, they silently began making their way up the vessel as a single unit. No words or other body gestures needed to be shared when they occupied the same hive mind. The group only came to a stop when they reached a door and huddled around it, trying to listen for anyone that might be on the other side. When you assumed everything was clear, Andy swiftly kicked it open and entered with her gun aimed and ready. 

Not even a minute after all three filed in, the sound of a gunshot suddenly shook you. You immediately turned to Booker, whose face gave away the slightest look of concern at the noise. This must not have happened in Buenos Aires. No more gunshots followed, thank goodness, but there were sounds of a struggle going on below deck which had the two of you on high alert. You prayed that nobody else close by could hear the commotion.

Things began to steer away from the original plan when Joe emerged from below far before he should have, struggling to keep another figure under control as he held their arms in a twisted position behind their back while continuing to firmly push them forward. Even in the dark, you could just make out how young the kid appeared to be. He couldn’t have been older than 16 and you assumed his reason for being on the ship was because he had an older relative in the crew. You relaxed when you realized that meant how unlikely it was that he’d be trained in how to fight. Joe would definitely keep from harming him unless he absolutely had to. Stupidly, you also forgot about how reckless young boys can be.

Everything fell apart in a mere matter of seconds. As he appeared to calm down, Joe eased up on the grip he held the boy with and he it didn’t seem like he would move at first. But in an instant, the scraggly kid darted from his grasp and sprinted around a corner and out of your line of sight to the completely opposite side of the ship. Booker reached for the door handle as a precaution while the rest of his body remained seated. A bead of sweat rolled down your neck despite the chill in the air and the gradual understanding that Book might be preparing to leave you on your own stilled your body completely. All of the careful planning you had fought to carefully commit to memory melted into mush.

Your thoughts were interrupted by a high-pitched whistle that rang through the air and your eyes quickly followed a bright red light travel up into the sky before it burst into a large display of lights and smoke. Time seemed to slow down and your heart sped up. Of course, if there wasn’t going to be another pistol going off, it had to be a goddamn flare gun. Yelling, alarmed Frenchmen could then be heard scrambling towards the dock and Booker cursed under his breath.

“Stay here, I’ll go help the others!” Booker leaped out of the vehicle, throwing the keys which hit your petrified figure. Part of you wanted to speak up and stop him but you could only squeak out an indecipherable sound of concern seconds after he was gone. Looking back at the ship, you caught sight of Nico peeking his head out from the door they entered through. He exited with a determined look on his face and was followed by a line of women. You itched at your sweating palms when twenty women or so had piled out and there was still no sign of Andy. 

The men hurrying in from the opposite direction quickly diverted your attention. Squinting your eyes, you were able to spot a figure in the distance headed straight towards your vehicle. You nearly panicked but caught yourself, uncertain if you were dealing with the traffickers or possibly random dock workers that had been alarmed by the flare and merely wanted to check out the situation. Either way, you decided it was still too risky to start up the engine just yet. At least, you told yourself the others probably wouldn’t want you to give away your position.

That’s when you noticed a faint movement in your side mirror. A tuft of matted blonde curls belonging to a distressed woman’s face peeked over the top of one of the crates not to far behind you. She must’ve spotted something concerning, because her eyes went wider than a trapped mouse’s and she disappeared back down, ultimately causing the crates to shake. You ground your back teeth together and prayed it was only you who had seen her. But then right on cue, the blinding glow of a flashlight landed directly over the area where the woman was hiding. The man you had spotted only moments before, his flashlight lit up a devious grin on his face that urged you to hold in your breath. He even sounded like the devil when he spoke. It didn’t take a high level French skills to tell that he began goading the poor woman like it was some sadistic game to him. 

He approached the crates ever so slowly, savoring the anticipation which laid before whatever unspeakable plans he had for his victim. It then occurred to you that she was most likely paralyzed with the same fear that had struck you.

And yet, she was the one currently being hunted while you were poised to sit and watch it unfold. You, protected by both your position and inexplicable gift of immortality. None of it seemed remotely fair and your body began to stir at the simple thought.

“Under no circumstances should you be engaging in combat,” Andy had firmly laid down the law several times leading up to this day. You’d never wanted to disobey anything she said so passionately before and here it felt like you scarcely had no other option but to go against something she forbade. 

The adrenaline rushing through your veins threw your body into action before you could debate any further. Barely aware of the forces taking hold of you, you tumbled out of the door and landed directly behind the attacker who continued to stalk forward towards the woman’s hiding place. He slowly began to raise his gun, something with barrels much longer than your forearms, and it was like you didn’t have the time to properly assess whatever danger lie at the other end. You just didn’t want it pointing at her.

Without a hint of hesitation, you drove foot into the back of the man’s left knee and he immediately crumbled down to about a third of his height. You were ready for him with your knife once his face spun around and an overpowering sense of rage guided your arm to make a clean cut from just below his right eyebrow, across the bridge of his nose, and finally through the center of his left eye. 

Something solid and heavy smacked the front of your head and you could hear the woman behind you scream in horror before everything went black.

Horrific violence was nothing if not a sheer constant to Andy. She had both experienced and caused enough to fill the oceans with blood, yet nothing made her seethe with rage more than watching yours spill from your head like a geyser. A thousand lifetimes stained with death could not have prepared her for the sight of your limp body hitting the ground, to which there was no question as to whether or not you were dead. Even if you had been wearing some type of protective head gear, a shotgun firing within five inches of your face would have been fatal. 

She was usually a pro at keeping her emotions under control until the mission was completed and never steered away from the plan without first calculating the absolute best course of action. The other teammates she had and the terrified group of women she was meant to protect called upon her to uphold her position as the leader, a task she had shouldered over a million times before despite whatever her personal feelings demanded. Absolutely none of that mattered now. Getting to you, killing that bastard, and wrapping you up in your arms became the only course of action she was capable of taking. 

Her first priority was taking out the son of a bitch that dared to touch you before anyone else got hurt. She handed off the little girl she had been carrying to Nico before barreling over a crate and launching herself over the side of the ship, rolling smoothly to break her fall when she hit the the dock. 

Despite how fast she ran, she seemed to move at a cursedly slow pace. She was still too quick for the man, his blood leaking from the fresh gash you had tore across his face, to notice her. He didn’t even get a chance to run before the warrior drove her labrys straight into the already-open wound. Andy could only revel in the brief taste of satisfaction for a moment before her emotions began swarming once again, the anger she had held for that man was now aimed solely at herself.

“Booker, get her into the back!” She barked at the Frenchman to take care of the hostage still hiding while rushing over to where your body collapsed. Up close, the sight was even more gruesome as blood, flesh, and bone were splattered all across what used to be your face. It would have been generous to call what was left of everything above your neck a simple stump. She knew she needed to get you out of there fast but hated to leave behind any parts of your head that might have been salvageable. Even saving something like an ear or significant chunk of your skull could aid in speeding up the healing process. She knew it would be excruciatingly painful for you to grow back yourself. 

She desperately grabbed at fistful of what she hoped was your brain before scooping you up in her arms. It was the fact that you were so much lighter than usual which made her wince, though she couldn’t help but be somewhat relieved when it meant it allowed her to run faster on her feet. Cautious yet quick, Andy made a beeline for the passenger’s seat of the truck and cradled your body in her arms while you continued to bleed out. It wasn’t a sight she wanted any of the hostages to witness and it’s not like she was letting go of you anytime soon anyway. 

“Drive!” One word was all she needed to command whomever was at the steering wheel to get out of there as fast as possible. It didn’t even occur to her to look up and check to see who she was sitting next to, as she immediately began trying to pick up any movement in your chest or a sign of a pulse in your wrist, anything that indicated the resurrection process was in motion.

“Please, please, come back to me,” she pleaded as your warm blood began to pool across her lap.

“Give her a second.” She realized it was Booker currently driving. “It’s only her second time and will probably take longer than expected.”

The women they had freed were now crammed together once again, only this time being in the back of a dark loading truck as it sped through the dead of night was probably far more merciful than them being forced to witness the transformation you were currently undergoing. Andy, however, couldn’t tear a single string of her attention away from you throughout the entire process. 

Each noise you made followed by the eventual cries of her name from your lips, once your mouth and airways had completely reformed, tore at Andromache deeper and deeper, in ways that no physical pain she had ever endured could compare. She bit down on her tongue till it was bloody as you repetitively squeezed her hand throughout the entire process. The same ones you often used to delicately recreate precious moments on paper broke more than a few of her bones. But Andy barely noticed and didn’t have the capacity to care. All she was focused on was you.

For the first time in centuries, the Scythian invoked the words of an ancient prayer and resurrected a long dead language as she tried to soothe your pain. She stopped believing in a higher power a long time ago but couldn’t shake the truth that repeating those words made her feel anchored to something even larger than her life or her immortality. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t try if it might possibly bring you a sense of comfort, which she actually prayed may happen.

OKAY LETS TRY THIS AGAIN

Welcome To Ravenbrooks season 2 Theories before it comes out

Disclaimer uh- these are the ramblings of a mad man named Jack (me). Mainly so when it does eventually come out I can see what if anything I got right. Now lets get into it below the fold.

1. It's revealed that Jay Roth (Nicky's dad) is the one who died in Trinity's old house

We know in both the book and games and even the pilot, Nicky was the one living across from Mr. Peterson, but now it's Trinity's home. I think the grief of what happened in that house is why they moved

2. We'll get to see the rest of the Rescue Squad's parents

Pretty self-explanatory. I don't know what story purpose they'd serve exactly, aside from maybe how they react to their kids' shenanigans but it'd be really cool to see them. Especially Luanne Roth who I am currently head canoning to be neglectful in some manner (not necessarily on purpose) because of the lines about Nicky running away all the time and no one noticing he went missing.

3. We see a cultist in uniform

I think it'd be really interesting if specifically Trinity finds them mid ceremony or if bad things start happening to her family and she gets suspicious

4. The kids learn Mr. Peterson isn't "evil"

We know in the books that Theo is looking heavily into the cult, and he seems to be doing the same here. I think in Trinity's realization's she'll learn his real motivations for keeping them away, maybe even his side of the stories from episode 3

5. We learn what Trinity did

We have hints at what happened, obviously, but with the teaser image reusing the old photo of kid Trinity, l think we're going to learn what exactly happened and why it was so bad that they had to move towns

6. More nightmare sequences

From the hello neighbor franchise in general, we've learned that both Trinity and Nicky are prone to nightmares, and with the trauma they've gained from episode 6, I assume we'll get to see plenty other creepy cool nightmare scenes. (Seriously, just the maggots from episode 2 make me squirm physically when I see it. Every time)

7. Principle Abanante isn't dead

This might be clear to some, and yeah, it's far from the greatest stretch on this list but I think we'll see her again and maybe that she caused the school explosion

8. Delroy(and possibly Scout)'s investigations

I'm very curious about what Delroy was doing in the tunnels under the school, maybe doing his own investigations on the cult? Scout included to round out the Hello Neighbor hide and seek crew. Likely having to join forced with the current members of the rescue squad to stop a stronger force.

9. We see Theodore's brother in his "new form"

Not 100% sure if he became the Guest or the Thing, and I've seen good theories/evidence for both, but either way I think we'll get to see him with the knowledge that it's him.

10. We learn why Ivan acted the way he did in s1

He was more scared of just the mention of Peterson than anyone, and it's been bugging me since my first watch. I'd like to see if there's reason to his behavior or just general paranoia. Leaning towards the former, knowing this series.

11. Love triangle between Trinity, Nicky and Enzo

I'd really rather this doesn't happen. I hate love triangles so much. They're so dumb and useless and bad. But like I told kaydin during our third watch, I can feel it happening. It's breathing down my neck with the loud annoying sound of needless romantic tension.

12. The whole squad sits together at lunch

They escaped the basement together! The least they could do as friends is actually eat lunch together instead of Nicky and Trinity sitting seperate from everyone else

13. Nicky and Aaron's relationship is revealed

I'm really, REALLY hopeful that their friendship isn't retconned in the series. It was great motivation for Nicky to be investigating Mr. Peterson, and is also just generally sweet.

14. We see Aaron

Nicky was the basement for a couple of weeks. However, Aaron was in there for months! I'm eager to see how he is both mentally and physically. I feel like he's either gonna be much, much worse than Nicky or somehow way better.

15. Quentin becomes my favorite character

This is mostly on here as a joke. I'm not gonna lie, I know he'll be at least a favorite because he's my favorite Hello Neighbor game character. Like- the squeal I squealed when I saw his van and silly Hawaiian shirt was immense. I love him so much, and I hope he gets good screen time.

16. Nicky loses his bag

This is more just a- gut feeling? He's gained it as a sort of comfort item, it seems, and I feel like with the nature and badluck of Ravenbrooks, he's going to lose it. Bonus points if he has to choose between it or a member of the Rescue Squad

17. Mr. martaugh dies

Again, I have- no evidence for this. Yeah, he's in the teasers a lot, but like that doesn't imply he dies. Maybe I just really hope he dies because he's creepy /j, but yeah, uh- if it happens, I'll probably still be in shock even though it's on this list.

18. We see an on screen kiss

Tricky fans cross your fingers and pray, I know I will be. It'll probably just be a quick peck on the cheek, but I can just kind of feel it in my bones. Similar to the love triangle one.

And there you go! My predictions for Season 2!

As soon as it drops, you will probably see my reaction to it and a return to this list to see how close or far I was on these. (Spoiler tagged, of course) But until then, I will be patiently waiting, drawing, and rewatching the show too many times over (wonder if I can hit 50 watches before season 2 drops)

At this exact moment, I think Jeremy and Allison have similar backstories. I’m sure ill change my mind in ten minutes but what’s your Jeremy theory RIGHT NOW 👀👀

I literally had a whole essay drafted in response to this and then my app crashed. Omg. But essentially I’ve been crashing out about this for the past three hours and here is what I’ve got:

The problem with any Jeremy theory is that it has to hit several markers. For example, it has to be exy related because his sister went out of her way to forget everything about the sport, but it can't be too exy related or bad enough that Jeremy wouldn't still play. It has to have broken up the family, but it can't be too serious bc his family hasn't disowned him/he's still in the grandpa's campaign stuff/he's captain of a D1 sports team. And it has to somehow be at least indirectly his fault, but not his fault to a point of irredeemability.

One thing I noticed is that Jeremy seriously acts like a guy who had a secret blown up in his face. (Ex: constantly mentioning that he hopes he doesn’t “regret” something, the anxiety he had when he didn’t tell cat and Laila about Jean’s reaction to the pool) . And he DOES seriously push to try and help , and at some point I think he even says he wouldn’t give up bc the truth was so close he could taste it?

He also (and this could honestly just be him being quirky) has different ringtones for EVERYONE and seems to answer his phone as soon as it rings/as soon as he can. But again , this could be nothing.

Regardless, though— theory #1 is that Jeremy’s brother was maybe doing something dangerous/having a rough go of it, and Jeremy knew and kept his mouth shut? Maybe he left the brother alone and went to his exy banquet and went Mia for a bit, and the scandal was whatever he was doing/his brother’s death? And then the way it would be tied to exy is that his fam saw it as him putting the sport before family?

Obviously from there Jeremy would’ve blamed himself and his family would’ve blamed him and he would’ve spiraled and maybe became depressed/ his depression worsened, and that’s what cat meant by life changing therapy.

That’s my top theory atm.

BUT there is the concept of the title of the second book “the golden raven” which I’m 96% sure references Jean, but that other 4% makes me think about how after Jean said Jeremy wasn’t like the ravens, jeremy refuses to make eye contact and looks away. And Jean tells us , “the look wasn’t wounded, but no raven had ever looked so gutted”. So maybe I’m thinking too much into it, BUT—

Theory #2 (which I hope isn’t the case, because it’s too similar to Andrew for me) is that Jeremy was supposed to be a Raven. Then maybe whatever happened happened and Jeremy was forced to stay local? Idk how this one would work out, considering the way cat spelled it out was that Jeremy only hated his older brother, but maybe the brother was devastated that Jeremy got scouted and he didn’t so he took extreme measures? Idk . But this would be extremely exy related, and still very explicitly “Jeremy’s” fault, and why he’s so insistent that exy is “just a game”.

I’ve also seen ppl point out the cops. And tbh, at first I just wrote the them off as his step grandpa’s political influence, especially since Jeremy says there was “no reason the cops would recognize him, and little to no chance he knew them”, but I’d be willing to entertain that idea that he did something accidentally/in self defense that his missing brother took the fall for ? This of course would put heavy emphasis on the “him”, but with Nora it’s not unlikely.

So then theory #3 would be like Jeremy got in a fight or something and maybe hurt someone ? Maybe he got jumped (similar to Nicky, I know , but he is gay in 2007), and his brother got caught in the crossfire, and Jeremy blamed himself /his family blames Jeremy, and since it was an exy player that did it, also exy?

The receipts thing I don’t really see as a clue. I know a lot of ppl believe they’re tied to drugs but I don’t see how that adds up considering he’d still be missing the cash he gives to Laila and cat on the receipt? And I think honestly the hang up there is just that his mom married a rich guy and the money is his step dad’s and his step dad hates him.

Also I don’t think Jeremy is secretly violent and I certainly don’t think his backstory it’s anything like Renee, especially since he kinda blanches at everything Jean says and calls the way his Highschool team played/ confronting Bryson exhausting.

BUT, and this one’s a long shot, I have been wondering if Jeremy has two missing siblings. My literal only proof is that cat says “you’re bound to hit one or two once u pass four kids”. And she does say that Jeremy has three siblings, and Annalise says that the family split in half. But if the family truly split in half, it would be two siblings vs two siblings. And at the moment, it looks like Jeremy vs Bryson and Annalise.

Am I making sense?

And then with the repeating 5’s in this story, that would bring Jeremy’s total sibling count (including himself ) to 5. So the last theory is like maybe Bryson and Jeremy got into it and the another brother got in the middle and something went down ™️. Idk . I don’t know that we have enough clues to piece everything together, but this is where I’m at currently lol.

I think about Mary and Tilda a lot because they are both victims and perpetrators of violence.

Tilda was left by her husband while pregnant with twins(I’m pretty sure that’s canon) like holy shit. Could you imagine what that would be like. And on top of that she was raised in a hyper religious environment which based on Luther’s whole character you can assume wasn’t the most sympathetic to her situation. A (probably) young pregnant woman who can’t possibly raise her own kids because she both can’t afford it and because imagine the emotional distress that must put a person under. She couldn’t get an abortion she definitely couldn’t raise two kids by herself. When she did give birth she gave them both up. (Probably for the better, two white boys with blonde hair should be easily adopted)Could that be because she knew she couldn’t raise two kids by herself or she wanted to give them better then her I don’t know (I’m assuming the former)

but she went back for one.(this is probably why Andrew was in foster care. Tilda set a precedent of coming back for her kid. Who wants to adopt a child only for the bio parent to come back for the kid?)Was it because Luther was on her ass or was it because of her own guilt? I sure as hell don’t know. Nicky confirmed that she didn’t start hurting Aaron physically till they moved to South Carolina (I’m pretty sure she was at the very least neglectful before then)

She was a victim of circumstance and I can’t blame her for falling into addiction (she made her choices but still)but she chose to hurt her children. She chose to take her guilt out on Aaron she chose to not put both kids up for adoption (which probably led to Andrew being in the foster system for most of his childhood)

And Mary.

What was her life like before. Obviously she and Stuart had a descent relationship. She clearly had some extreme skill for violence. Was she doing things before she got married? Did she plan on doing something for her family? Did she even want kids? She probably had something she was working too before she was sold to an abuser then had to have his kid. She then gave up everything to make sure that child survived. But she still abused him. Her being a victim doesn’t excuse hurting her kid, nothing can excuse that.

I don’t morn the women the became I morn the girls they were, And I just keep thinking about those two girls who were put in extreme situations and were 100% victims up until they chose to hurt their kids.

“Alright since Nicky seems scared we’ll regroup in the afternoon tomorrow and we’ll see if Nicky is ok to go plus it’s getting late” said Delroy,everyone agreed and left the park going to their house but Trinity walked Nicky home first before going back to her place because she knew he was shocked “goodnight Nicky,thanks for helping me” she said,she gave a smile to him to try and cheer him up but Nicky just shut his door and didn’t look back.it was the next day and while everyone was determined to go to this mysterious weather station Nicky was still scared but tried to hide it,he didn’t want to inconvenience anyone.

While walking through the forest Nicky and Trinity stayed behind the group and Trinity obviously saw through Nicky’s act,she then slides over to Nicky and held his hand and smiled “thanks trin” said Nicky “no problem! I’ll hold your hand the whole time” she responded.Enzo heard Trinity and looked back and saw the hand holding and them smiling,he was extremely jealous of Nicky holding her hand since he only held hers once before,it felt like a cloud that he could just sit on in the blue sky,except raven brooks had never had a sunny day only fog and cloudy skies no matter the season so he’d only seen it in media.

But Enzo slightly bumped into delroy in front of him while day dreaming as Delroy came to a stop,”we’re here” he said.The group looked up,the weather station towered over them,they felt like mice compared to it.A massive eyeball stood on a tower next to it as a set piece,it unsettled everyone but they hid it.Walking in the group split up and everyone had their different thoughts.

Maritza:Ew,it smells like a dead body!

A loud thud was heard from behind a curtain,the group crept over cautiously to it and Ivan pulled the curtain back to find tunnels and Delroy and Nicky looked over to each other as it reminded them of the tunnels that they were in back at the school.they crept behind the curtain and began walking through the tunnels and delroy started to slow down to walk at the level of Trinity and Nicky,who were at the back of the group and delroy began talking to Nicky “Nick I think these tunnels connect to the school”,Nicky actually responded “yeah I think so to delroy.” Delroy and Nicky actually began having a conversation and Trinity was glad because they were normally at each other’s throats so it was nice to see them get along.

Maritza suddenly yelled “wait everyone stop!” She blocked Ivan with her bat,Nicky,Trinity and delroy stopped and walked over to see and they saw a door across the room(?) to stairs that looked like they led to the halls of the school,this confirmed delroy’s theory but Maritza noticed them looking at the stairs but she said “no not that….that.” She pointed her bat down to a huge gaping chasm.Nicky quietly said to himself “no,not here” but everyone heard it and looked at him “let’s go.” Said Trinity,she continued “this is creepy and it’s freaking me out.” But just as everyone was about to react Enzo saw this as his “chance” and rushed over to Trinity,he made sure to go between her and Nicky though so they could stop holding hands but this ended up sending Nicky into a panic attack yet Enzo didn’t care unlike Trinity.

“It’s ok Trinity,I’ll hold your hand! You don’t need to worry!” But Trinity didn’t care about Enzo’s “request”,”Enzo I said let’s go.now I need to get to Nicky“ Enzo tried to push the ask more “No it’s fine! Plus Nicky can stand by himself you know,he’s not a child.” Trinity became irritated “ENZO.STOP” but he still wouldn’t budge the group tried to get to Nicky but Enzo also blocked them “NO! I JUST WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND IS THAT TO MUCH TO ASK!?” Trinity shoved Enzo but she did it so hard he nearly fell down into the chasam but luckily Ivan,Maritza and Delroy were able to hold onto him.once they lifted enzo up they all looked at Trinity who was hugging Nicky while he was calming down but he’s was looking stone cold at them,not caring that Enzo nearly died “Enzo,I’m finally gonna say this to you.stop.you’re a fucking weirdo who is in love with me and it’s fucking weird.I DONT LOVE YOU.”

No one said anything,they didn’t have to,Trinity just walked off with Nicky,completely deserting Ivan,Delroy,Maritza and Enzo.She was walking into the woods with Nicky when he said “I’m sorry you had to say that to Enzo” but Trinity responded with “it’s fine,Enzo has been acting weird to me for a while,it was about time I put my foot down.” They walked back to friendly court and they sat on Nicky’s doorstep for a while before walking back to their respective homes,Trinity didn’t care what happened the next morning with Enzo she didn’t care at all,all that mattered to her is that her friend was safe.

Caitlin found the grieving process much easier this time around—not because the loss hurt any less, but because she had someone who Got It, who knew exactly how she felt and didn’t try to placate or soothe her. Iris, for her part, was ALSO glad to have someone who let her feel her feelings without trying to placate or soothe her—it felt good. They smashed more than a few things together to let out some of the pent-up grief…and by the time Iris was ready to move on with Barry, by the time she and Caitlin had that talk, it came from a woman who knew exactly how Iris felt, exactly what her hesitations were, and encouraged her to go for it anyway

It’s not a trait the show often showcases, but he worries about Iris enough to go to the hospital and sit by her bedside even after they fought, he’s racing specifically to raise money for his mom’s medical bills, he wants to be a hero to help people (not just because he thinks it’ll be cool to have powers—when he thinks there’s a chance of him not getting powers, he specifically says “So you think, just let it go? Give up on wanting to help people?”), etc. He’s got a bigger heart than people give him credit for!

No one asked for it, but I thought id give a run down of Nicky/Dr Sugar’s romance as i am not sure if it will ever appear in the main comic. I could be wrong, and might find time/a place to include it somewhere, but if not i felt like sharing more of their story anyway.

-When Sugar (a human) arrived in hell after a cycle, he almost immediately started to turn into a demon. However, in a fit of desperation, he basically performed a bit of what i’d call a “inner demon lobotomy” on himself, despite not knowing what he was doing. Overtime, he also would continue to perform self surgery as an attempt to “cut out” his inner demons and prevent fully turning into a demon. This didn’t work perfectly, but he had some success to it.. Sort of. Even today, he has a bit of issues with his memory and mind, and still thinks the date is somewhere in the 90s, no matter how much time has actually passed. 

-During this time, he travelled around and also performed surgery on other demons, either to try to revert them to being human again, but also to kill and hunt them for parts, or treat their wounds in exchange for protection or money. It kind of depended on the individual, but it earned him a reputation for doing such a business. Which did not go well with the officials in the area.

-Nicky was not an sheriff at the time, but he personally hunted Sugar down, killed his patients (at the time) then tortured him for information on his services, as well as those who he might have helped in the past. He also attempted to fully convert Sugar into a demon,but found that it was no longer possible. Sugar however, lost his arm, as Nicky took it off for his dinner to eat in front of him. Sugar poisoned Nicky’s dinner secretly, and used this to escape.

-While on the hunt for Sugar, Nicky had not fully recovered from the poison and ended up getting injured by walking on an unstable platform, and falling. The building also fell on him, pinning him to his spot. He was left there for several days, until Sugar found him in a very weak state and also very dehydrated from the heat. Nicky did not recognize Sugar, nor did not seem to know how severe the state he was in. Taking pity on him, Sugar removed the platform and got Nicky to shelter. He carried Nicky using his Inner Demon, Mr Salt, who also sometimes is his house. 

-sugar helped nurse nicky back to health, who (once he was able to realize what had happened) was very infuriated and tried his best to kick up as much of a fuss he could. Unfortunately for him, he was still very weak and had no choice but to swallow his pride and receive help from Sugar. Who had no hesitation to snap at him and treat him like a spoiled child for refusing help despite how badly he needed it. Nicky had several insulting nicknames for Sugar, and refused to call him by name. 

-Nicky had never been treated this way, and while outwardly he still treated Sugar coldly, it certainly changed his opinion of Sugar and he became attached to him. To the point where even when he was healthy enough to stand again, he feigned that he was still too weak and sick to leave. Sugar eventually called him on his bluff and kicked him out, but the two had settled their score and Nicky was willing to drop his hunt in exchange for him saving his life. 

-Nicky would frequently visit, but also guard Sugar’s territory from other demons, and also brought gifts. His insulting nicknames started to change to more like weird pet names, and other odd comments he’d say to Sugar about him. Sugar eventually asked Nicky if he wanted to go on a date, since Nicky was obviously trying to court him. Nicky was shocked and horrified by being called out like this, since he’s so old fashioned, but of course shyly accepted the offer and they eventually started to date. -Sugar was also the one who eventually proposed, which shocked Nicky again even tho it once again was obvious that he was the one who wanted to marry. (he is not very good at lying) and that is how they ended up how they are today. Nicky still has a lot of guilt for how he treated Sugar, but sugar kinda doesnt GAF. its hell. Shit happens. Now he has a hot monster husband that kills people for him, so as far as he’s considered he’s #winning OFC if I decide to include their story in the main comic, or something else, it might change a bit. But for now, that’s a bit of context on their romance! The two of them are kind of small characters in NRD, but i was happy how much people enjoyed their appearance in ch5.   Anyway, hope you enjoyed reading about these two!

thank you!! that's very sweet! lemme tell you my favourite bit of extremely low level valentino beef. fair warning: this is extremely minor. it's not that serious. I just like old drama

so you know the 2006 season, right, where valentino actually got on pretty well with all the other title contenders? depending on how you want to look at it, there were 4-5 contenders that year... capirossi's a bit marginal whether he counts as a 'title contender'. he was tied leader of the standings after six rounds, but then was involved in a horror crash at catalunya that halted his momentum. the crash was caused by his teammate sete and there's a decent chance capirossi would have been champion without this race. his eventual third place in the championship standings was due to him bouncing back to claim a strong string of results late in the season

here's a few more photos of that crash:

the other four contenders were nicky hayden, valentino, marco melandri and dani pedrosa. to give you a sense of what that title fight looked like, here were the standings after eleven out of seventeen rounds:

obviously valentino was a title contender given he nearly won the whole thing - but, yeah, he was very much on the back foot that entire season. so of those other four contenders, valentino got on very well with capirossi (who valentino had been a fan of as a kid and had met when he was eleven years old) and with hayden (who valentino had helped with the transition from superbike when hayden became his rookie teammate at repsol honda in 2003). he was reasonably friendly with pedrosa and had a long-standing friendship with melandri, if one that seems to have cooled off when they became premier class rivals (according to melandri in any case). you do have to say, the good vibes are a little unusual as valentino title fights go... it's a very chaotic very exciting season that has quite a few excellent valentino performances as he attempts to bounce back from all manner of ill fortune - but no realbeef. it really is a title fight mostly fought in good spirits. the most significant drama between any of these contenders was the hayden/pedrosa estoril crash that very nearly cost hayden the title. from broadbent's 'ring of fire' about the scenes after the race:

in the end dani was bailed out by valentino's crash in valencia (though a lot of american fans did not move on from the incident); it was by far the most significant on-track clash he had with hayden in their years together at honda, at a time when the vibes in that team were *checks notes* not great. hayden said all was forgiven - if with the caveat that he didn't know how he would've felt if he hadn't won the title. but, y'know, heartwarming: valentino is part of a title fight where he is not involved in the biggest beef of the year (the other title fight this is true of was 1998, another iconic season)

there is however one other rider who played an important role in the 2006 title fight - one who thinks that his relationship with valentino was affected by the events of that year. first bit of context: the season opener at jerez went disastrously wrong for valentino at the very first corner, when toni elias rode into him and caused him to crash. that jerez crash was one of those classic first corner incidents that could've easily been a lot uglier, and some riders quite narrowly avoid valentino

kind of started the season off the way it was going to go on, really. anyway, here's valentino reacting to the crash, and also elias coming over to him post-race to apologise:

elias ended up finishing 4th, while valentino picked the bike up to finish 14th. here's what valentino had to say post-race:

"We knew this was going to be a difficult race but maybe not so difficult!" said Rossi, who had been battling chatter problems for much of the weekend and qualified just ninth on the grid. "I saw Toni come up on the inside and he hit me; this is racing and these things happen. "I have known Toni for many years and he is a good rider. He apologised to me after the race so I told him not to worry - only to remember to brake next time and if it is too late then to hit another bike instead of me!"

by the way, this incident allowed casey to get such a good start to his rookie season, in a race where he ended up finishing sixth:

I made a great start off the line and our luck improved further in the first corner, when Toni Elías got his braking markers completely wrong, took out Valentino Rossi and opened up a gap for me to dive through. I was sixth by the end of the first lap and up to fourth two laps later, just behind Nicky Hayden in third.

and there's probably some symbolism there if you dig deep enough. elias was also involved in the eventual outcome of the 2006 motogp season in another way (from the vale race recs post):

anyway, moving on from the 2006 season for now, there's a couple more on-track interactions we might as well rattle through. the two of them had quite a tense coming together at turkey 2007, the third race of the season and around the time valentino was coming to realise the casey/ducati combination was going to be a real problem that season. the fight between elias and valentino didn't have much of an effect on valentino's race given how he had some nicely fucked up tyres (bit of a theme that year), but that didn't stop valentino from being irritated post-race:

Elias took second from Rossi with a move down the inside at the final complex, but both riders nearly came off their bikes as they touched during the pass. While Elias maintained second to the flag, Rossi later fell to 10th after developing tyre issues. "I'm very disappointed with Elias because he was very unfair with me," Rossi told Italia1 television. "Obviously we're all racing, but he had already overtaken me, and when he came on my side he tried to push me out and make me fall on purpose. I don't think that's fair behaviour. There are other words than 'unfair' coming up in my mind, but I'll leave them to the imagination. "He had already tried to come to apologise another time after the chequered flag. I'll say no more, I owe him twice, so I'll see him in China. I think he has a rather unfair way of riding with everyone. He had already overtaken me, so there was no need to throw me out. We know these things among riders. So now we know, and we'll know how to behave next time we meet him." Elias shrugged off the incident. "These things happen in racing and I'm happy with today's result," he said. "The way I drive may look risky but I feel comfortable with it and I will carry on like this."

definitely some fun lines in this, like "I think casey has problems with everybody and not only me". ouch. this does help show elias was just one of those guys who a lot of riders had minor beef with... you know how it is sometimes (incidentally, elias was also a talent linked to alberto puig, so they met quite young before casey was a full time grand prix rider)

the other minor on-track incident between valentino and elias I wanted to include is one where I haven't found any post-race reporting or comments from either rider, so, again, clearly not that big a deal. still found it funny so. it's sachsenring 2008, casey has just won the last two races, and he's well on his way to winning his third consecutive one after dani crashed out from a massive lead. it's raining, which is why the whole field is super spread out. valentino is actually riding a pretty decent race, but his problem is he's coming back from seventh on the grid and casey started on pole, with fairly predictable repercussions for their respective race. still, in those conditions it's always worth trying to put as much pressure as possible on the leader, and valentino does end up closing in until he's around five seconds behind casey

which is how valentino ends up attempting to lap elias - while the commentators chat about how valentino very much does not want to be taking any risks, not with toni elias, not with twenty world championship points at stake ("the front of toni elias' bike knows the side of valentino rossi's bike very well, doesn't it"). elias doesn't really move to one side, which means valentino has to overtake him the regular way. after the move has been completed, he does this:

anyway, obviously valentino doesn't catch casey, and casey picks up his third consecutive win. worrying from valentino's perspective... especially given that there's a lot of tracks come that really seem to suit casey, including the upcoming laguna seca

to round things off. after laguna, elias shares two consecutive podiums with valentino at brno and misano - both of which valentino won after casey crashed out of the lead

when elias was unable to secure a motogp ride for 2010, he ended up switching to moto2 and becoming the first ever winner of the series. from his motogp.com profile:

He started the year as one of the title favourites in the Moto2 class, and throughout the season his wealth of experience and race-craft has shone through as he claimed seven wins, including four in a row over the summer period. His characteristic “hang-on” riding style and charming personality has won him millions of fans across the globe, and the Spaniard becomes the first ever Moto2 World Champion at the age of 27.

he returned to motogp and had a troubled 2011 season, before competing in a mix of motogp and moto2 in 2012 - and his last full season in grand prix racing was 2013. I mainly bring this up so I can include this truly charming casey comment:

"one failed" casey. please

elias ends up moving stateside to compete there instead. so, he still runs into motogp riders at austin - which he brings up in a 2020 interview, while accusing valentino pf still being bitter over 2006:

“Being able to beat Valentino [for victory] has only happened to me once in my life,” he told DAZN. "Michelin brought me a new tyre on the Saturday and I managed to improve my pace by seven-tenths and fight for victory. "I thanked Michelin for the help, although I was very angry when I discovered that this rubber, with a softer casing, was the one used by the best riders throughout the season and they only gave it to me in the penultimate race of the year. "When I meet Valentino - I see him every year in Austin - I can see that he still has [Estoril 2006] stuck in his heart, he has not forgiven me… It's over, it's time to be friends, but it is not possible. He is so competitive, he will never forgive me!"

these comments were put to valentino, to which he said the following:

"When I met Toni Elias in the United States, because now he runs there, there were only positive moments,” he told a video chat with BT Sport. “We have a good relationship and I'm not angry with him because he beat me in Portugal, but because he knocked me out in first corner during the Spanish Grand Prix.  “In that season, Jerez was the first race of the year and immediately made me lose points and probably also the championship."

obviously, this is a joke, and valentino is allowed to make those occasionally. it's also probably a joke that has just a little bit of truth to it. who knows how valentino feels about toni elias these days, whether he really was still acting coldly towards elias during austin trips because of a grudge that dates back to 2006. but, y'know, it's also kind of fine to hold grudges for petty reasons sometimes... I'll say it: I support valentino's god-given right to just find some of these guys kinda annoying. not everything has to be an epic feud. sometimes guys just have a little mental list of past transgressions where each individual item is kinda small and silly but they're also literally never going to forget about each of them and they haven't forgiven anything even if it's been well over a decade... you know how it is

So. Cobra Kai's over and I have never been more glad to have stopped watching after 4.7 because it really just became a steaming pile of shit and ruined every single bit of character development they ever had and it's just. So disappointing. I feel let down and very angry because I really hoped they would at least have some kind of ending that wasn't completely terrible if only for the sake of anyone else still watching, but we didn't get that! They just threw everything this show stood for and it just fucking sucks and I hate it. I hate it so much.

Why am I posting about this on my fanfiction blog? Because for the last several months I have become steadily less interested in rewatching Cobra Kai for fic purposes - I've told myself it was because of what else I've got going on in my life, because of the internet problems, because I wanted to work on other fics, because because because...but the truth is I was watching it get steadily worse and not really feeling like this was a show I wanted to write much for anymore - fix it fics are all very well, but there's a limit, and for me it's sometimes difficult to watch/read/play something again when I know it has a terrible, annoying, frustrating conclusion. The first three seasons were good, but how can I really enjoy them knowing what comes? When the show quite literally ends where it began?

And I've been having less ideas anyway, so the thing is this. I will finish the 'Elaine & Sam' and the 'Tory is a Barnes' AU fics at some point, and I will obviously keep on writing for the Karate Kid films because they still hold up and I still love them...but I'm no longer so inclined to even have a Cobra Kai era series of fics for the Nicky Connors AU - I'll probably write some future fic and I might even make it dramatic...but it won't be Cobra Kai. Even before the mess S6 became I wasn't sure about it - would a Johnny Lawrence who had a much better life even be that bothered about reclaiming Cobra Kai from Kreese? I'm not so sure he would.

As for the Gemma Laura McKinney AU? Well, that once started out as a very different thing - I changed it because I was more invested in Johnny being a parent to his canonical son, I changed it because I thought the new idea could be a funny concept...and yet the original idea, the original version of Gemma, kept on calling to me, is part of the reason the fic stalled...and this is fanfiction. I can write whatever the hell I like, add whatever elements I like, write whatever crossovers I write. Mr. Miyagi once pointed out that not everything is as it seems, after all.

And memory becomes somewhat less reliable when magic's involved...
