Think about it, in raven brooks, no one cared about Nicky. His parents were neglectful (either bc of work or they just didn’t care about their child), all the adults hated him and didn’t trust him, and he had zero friends. And before you say the inventors club, it’s clear that they tried to distance themselves from Nicky (example, sitting at a different lunch table) and even when Trinity became his friend, she STILL tried to distance herself from him to save face.

No one checked up, liked, or cared about nicky. But in the basement? Well, that’s a whole different story.

Mr Peterson constantly checked up on him, gave him food, played with him (when Nicky is saying shit like “I’ll play please don’t hurt me”) and if Nicky didn’t, he’d probably get abused either verbally, physically or mentally (prob physically the most), and most likely he same when he tried to escape. From what u said about Nicky’s eyes at he end, there’s a chance mr Peterson probably damaged his eyes at some point

(possibly trying to blind him so he wouldn’t try to escape? If that’s the case oh my fucking god)

Plus in season two, mr Peterson called Nicky “my boy” and shit, so he clearly gaslighted Nicky into either; looking up to mr Peterson as a parental figure or literally made him think he was his actual son, which wouldn’t be too far fetched considering how vulnerable and easily manipulated Nicky was in his state in episode six/the second half of season two.

So in conclusion, mr Peterson gaslighted Nicky into thinking the basement was safe haven, bc mr Peterson actually “cared” about him unlike everyone else.

I’m sorry but to you mr Peterson defenders but how tf do you defend him when he did shit like THIS to a 13 YEAR OLD CHILD. like bro I do not gaf if his wife, brother, and daughter are dead THATS NOT A GOOD EXCUSE TO GROOM (the non sexual way, grooming has multiple definitions) A CHILD.

Okay does anyone else find Nicky’s like doll motif really creepy but also interesting

lemme get into this mini rant

Everything about him EVERYTHING in episode 6 is literally all themed around dolls

First off let’s go over his surroundings 🤯🤯

OFF the BAT first thing you see boom is like a bunch of these massive ass ragdolls there’s like 4 or 3 and they are HUGE very big

I don’t think any of it is coincidental at ALL it’s the first thing we see it creeps us out straight away and your like waddafuk are those and then BAM Nicky is wearing a hat face thing guys wtf do u call his little hat I’m gonna call it a hat for now yk what im talking about and again no coincidence ITS THE EXACT SAME FACE AS THESE MASSIVE DOLLS its like he’s one of them which is sooooo creepy why does no one see what i see

ALSO the SYMBOLISM OF THESE BIG ASS DOLLS one of them has ALL ITS LIMBS ripped off but it still has that same fuckass smiley face AND NICKY WEARS THAT SAME FACE he is practically just a rag doll aswell like guys COME ON I’m not crazy im just right

also the fake windows ??? The way the room he’s kept in feels like its own house . LIKE A DOLLHOUSE

the whole room has this like aura around it like it feels staged in a way especially considering the room is like not real in a sense ( cuz like yk the walls and shit aren’t really walls ) anyway

Back to these dolls you can tell they are so much bigger than Nicky and then you see the floor and shit and you see loads of kids toys and crayons and that it feels really homely when it shouldn’t which basically tells you how Nicky’s been feeling which is crazy

it also feels extremely infantilising like this kids like 13 I think and he’s being surrounded by kids toys and shit like I feel like it’s designed in a way to make him feel smaller and weaker than he is THATS LITTERALLT INSANE OMG

littlerally who thought of this probably no one I’m probably thinking way too hard but I don’t care THIE IS MY LIFE NOW anyway

the way he BEHAVES too it’s so robotic

all the movement he makes feels extremely predetermined and almost cyclical like he does this over and over and over again especially when HE goes to open the door to Aaron’s room and then trinity tries to help and he just TACKLES HER and tells her to stop and then says sorry like 50 times that’s all reccuring movements

oh Gracie what’s this got to do with the motif you say in a STUPID voice ( sorry your not stupid ) well like those WIND UP dolls

when they find the exit to Nicky’s room that triggers a predetermined reaction and response from him like a wind up toy would he cycles through his movements but the kicker is that obviously he’d be taken back to the basement by a certain point but trinity obviously doesn’t take him back which is when we see those cracks appear in his trance like state it’s INSANE seriously why does no one think about this I need to barf a rainbow of theories and knowledge NOW anyway

but obviously he takes himself back to his environment he’s become familiar with which starts the cycle again

and goes back for his little hat thing which suggests there’s some sort of desire to be docile here which pulls me into SOMETHING ELSE

Which is his obvious development of Stockholm syndrome

But Gracie idk what that is lemme get a def for you

Stockholm syndrome is a psychological coping mechanism that can develop in hostages and kidnapping victims, causing them to form a positive bond with their captors.

But gracie when does that happen I hear you ask

he tries to go back multiple times obviously once in episode six and again in season 2 when trin almost pummples him with her crowbar

but he also seems completely conflicted

he shows negative opinions all the time and actively tries to avoid the house even being angry when trin makes him go in but you’ll notice when he reverts back to his broken state he actively tries to go back

why you ask why

well in that state he becomes paranoid extremely fearful and very dependent

it’s no secret while obviously he faced severe physical abuse and physiological torture he was also cared for in the basement

That’s a manipulation tactic btw just saying

anyway he was given food and water and bed and toys and stuff which kept him docile and he’s practically brainwashed into believing that that’s the norm for him and it’s all he deserves

He seeks that connection out of fear and litteral brainwashing

he’s fixated on the idea of being safe constantly and also makes it extremely clear that he is

“Safest in the house”

the way he TALKS too is a big giveaway he talks as if he’s repeating what he’s been told which shows these aren’t thoughts that have sterner from his own brain but it’s what he’s been fed for like months and now believes out of fear of what’s gonna happen if he doesn’t

he constantly makes shushing noises and commands himself which like you don’t do to yourself unless your abit doolally like me 🤑 but anyway he’s clearly repeating what he’s been told and forced to believe

when you play with a doll you create that dolls personality and feelings and what they say and obviously an actual doll has no real thoughts so it just remains expressionless and helpless while you make up the things that happen to it

that obviously happens to Nicky but he’s a real person so that’s abit tragic core

So uh not so mini rant over this is what happens when Lizzie goes to bed and leaves me alone I could talk about this for hours like HOURS and hours I have so much more to say but I cba
