Marleyan Hange part 4

Liberio 1

A different kind of reunion

Four years have passed as they do in canon and Hange and Levi have both been licking their wounds (emotional moreso than physical) but only one of them was aware they might meet again sooner rather than later.

Hange has involuntarily climbed the ranks of the Marleyan army while doing their best to keep Essie out of harm's way. Levi has had his hands full trying to keep the Survey Corps from collapsing while not accepting the title of commander, instead waiting until he deemed Armin old enough to be bestowed the title.

The raid Eren forced them into has started and Levi is zipping around Liberio when his eyes fall on a silhouette that has been haunting his nightmares (when he can even manage to fall asleep). As he sees them emerging from the neck of that mutt, something in him snaps and he changes course.

Hange has been running around looking for the warrior candidates while fending off the survey corps soldiers. No, they're island devils. They're praying they didn't hit anyone they know. Knew. Devils. That's right. Nothing more. They stop to ask a group of their underlings if they've seen the kids, but instead of answers they get warnings. They freeze at the sight of Levi (!?) flying towards them and before they can react he's torn them from their titan and tossed them into a wall. Stumbling from the impact, they approach him, something inside them pulling them towards him even now. They have to say something to him, anything, but what is there to say?

As he feels Hange grab onto his cape, hears them call his name, Levi holds onto the flare of anger and betrayal to commit to what he's about to do, stomping down any other emotions he may or may not be feeling, hard. It needs to be done. That's all there is to it.

Honestly if Derap feels betrayed by Zam playing both sides he lowkey had it coming, because playing both sides was exactly what he was doing when he teamed with 4c and hid the exploits from zam for so long, or when he worked with Mapicc to kill Pangi behind Pangi's back.

And the thing is, he most definitely is going to feel betrayed. Because for the whole season, it has been a pattern where Derap points out how things other people are doing makes them untrustworthy and how they are being dumb for not realizing that what they are doing is hurting they're closest teammate, and then he would turn around and do the exact same thing to his own allies and teammates. For the whole season, he's been trying so hard to make people stay with him while using the worst methods possible. He can easily pinpoint when other people are being hypocrites but even when he does acknowledge that the things he did where wrong and hurt people, he doesn't entertain the train of thought for long enough to actually change his actions.

In a way, it is kinda poetic that the way he might end up losing another one of his closest teammates again is by them not even trying to outright betray him, Zam just wanted to do what she thinks is best for server, and at the end of the day she still trusts Derap and cares about him, but she's still gonna go through with it, the same way Derap went through with so many stuff despite knowing it would hurt his teammates.

And like, realistically, regardless of how it went, there's a very high chance Derap might not stop to consider his actions, there's a high chance he's just gonna double down on the "no one trusts me and all my teammates leave me but also I'm gonna continue to do things they don't like behind their back. No idea why they don't trust me though" route. But I think that out of all the ways sunkissed could stop being teammates this season, out of all the ways they could've possibly betrayed each other, the one way where it isn't even intended to be a betrayal is probably the best way to make the problems they had while being teammates so clear. It's not a solution or complete conclusion to an arc, but it's the best way they could rip the band-aid off, make everything that has been boiling up come to a point where it's basically impossible to ignore, and even if things are not solved, maybe it will open a door to change in the future

how alien stage portrays love is everything to me

as a queer person who has more found family than blood family, the way alien stage attempts to portray the entire depth and spectrum of the undefinable thing we call "love" takes my breath away.

it's about the endurance of the human spirit and how marginalized people will always be able to form bonds and be strengthened by their connection to others even if they can't define the bonds they made.

it's about love and loving despite the fact that you know you will lose them some day.

it's about family and finding the people you belong with and sticking by them no matter what.

it's about finding empathy for others, not necessarily because you understand them completely, but because you love them as your family, friends, or fellow humans.

whether it's romantic, platonic, or something indefinable

life is about love.
