Aaahhh this question is a bit tricky for me… because even though I read tons of books as a kid I pretty much fell out of reading published novels for pleasure since leaving school and only recently picked it back up again in the last couple of years. Before that, I think the only book series I had finished reading in the last decade were A Song Of Ice And Fire series and the Captive Prince trilogy, both of which I enjoyed. I remember having a minor fixation with Lord Of the Flies when I read it in 5th grade because it was ~darker & edgier~ than anything else I had read before at the time… I haven’t reread it since so idk if I can say it’s an all-timer but I’m pretty sure it has influenced my taste in stories in general lol. One of my first fandoms back in the day was for a certain book series about wizards but for reasons I’m sure I don’t have to explain I don’t fuck with it anymore lol.

Most of the pleasure reading I’ve done for the past 20ish years or so where I got to admire writing as a craft has been through fanfiction hahaha. Tbh I’m starting to realize that a lot of the inspiration for my own writing comes not from books but from completely different mediums such as film and music, which I have consumed a lot more of as an adult—trying to translate visuals and sounds and the feelings evoked by them into words is what fuels me, ykwim? Anyway now that I’m pivoting back into reading & writing as a hobby I can at least show you a sampling of the sorts of things that are on my bookshelf atm (either read, started, or TBR)… hopefully some of these will become new all-time favorites! Also if y’all have recommendations I’m all ears :3

No honestly I’m a Beth girl through and through but it’s 100% John’s fault for like you said enticing enough fear in both of them that they felt they couldn’t go to him. I do imagine Beth thought at least John would’ve ended up sending Rip away or at worst killing him. Sure; he was a good fit for the ranch but he had no where else to go and no one would be looking for him. As much as I like the show I do know John is both the main character and the villain at the same time. I think he’s quite interesting because while he does what he thinks is right for his family and the ranch, his methods are totally flawed and he goes about things the wrong way. He feeds of off of his children’s trauma and darkness in order to keep the place going. I wonder how the rest of the series will go without him being in the picture tbh.

I love Beth so much too aaahhh if I could write with a Beth my whole soul would be soothed lol!! sometimes I feel like the writing has gotten a bit lax on the show with just making Beth and Jamie so intensely vindictive towards one another that’s it’s almost become the primary personality trait for both of them and the rest of their personality has fallen to the wayside. their beginning intensity was so intriguing and I thought well crafted.

They absolutely gave the “middle siblings” energy I love and live for in life lol. I feel like Beth and Jamie have a weird chemistry with one another and I’m telling you if they teamed up to take down Market Equities or any of the bad guys they’d be unstoppable. Beth is cutthroat and more or less fearless, hence “I’m the bigger bear” quote and Jamie is empathetic in a very witty manner but knows how to make use of his seemingly timid nature to his benefit and advantage. I think they both know how to pull their punches when it’s necessary and I think that’s why together they’d be such a powerhouse for the Yellowstone.

but I totally agree, I think Beth and Jamie both knew that Rip was a runaway kid with nobody out there to search for him I think John even mentions it in one of the flashback eps, but I think they both probably though oh yeah our dad will for sure kill this kid and have no remorse for it. Given the fact he tried to force Kayce to take Monica to the clinic for an abortion herself and when he refused literally gave his own son a brand I think John has- or maybe had no qualms about sacrificing his children for the assumed betterment of the ranch for sure!

I do love the show but yeah I’m on your page John is for sure the villain and that’s the cool thing about him as a protagonist because so many people are used to protagonist being the perceived “good guys” and the Duttons are not that, lmao, and I love it! I think John’s ego is intrinsically tied to the “worth” of the land and his children are in fact offerings to that success. Gosh John realy traumatized all his children and when faced with that reality he actively works to tear them down and make them feel worse for calling him on his toxicity. I’m super curious how it’ll end without him there too, I’m curious how the writing will go or make up for his lack of presence and part of me is worried it’ll be a bit phoned in, but I mean I think that’s normal worries for most media these days because once you really like something anything below what you’ve come to expect probably feels like an insult. I hope they wrap it up in a meaningful and worthwhile way!!

Overall, I write for enjoyment - and the enjoyment of others. Comments, kudos, likes, and reblogs let me know that what I'm writing is enjoyable and that - potentially - it's being talked about. I guess you could call it my "drug of choice."

When I write for a series of one fanfiction, I loose momentum over time and the stories are not as well written as they were when I first started. I tried doing that for a few fanfictions and ended up loosing quite a few followers because of that as well. There are some authors out there that can do that - but I'm not one of them, though I wish I was.

However, I do want to inspire others to write - to create their own worlds that are filled with their characters and fanfiction writing is a great way to start out. So, for anyone that wants to take that step and write their own ending after where I left off - I want them to. I want them to pick up where I left off so that they can learn how to write and feel proud of accomplishing something - something they can look back on and say, "This was my first work and I finished it."

And let me indulge you: I'm also glad someone else is interested about the enneagram (and typing my characters)! I especially like the enneagram for character development since it's motivation-focused and comes with built-in "character arcs".

I know about the subtypes and other enneagram stuff, but I didn't feel the need to go in-depth with them. Now that I'm looking at the subtypes though, they seem very helpful especially since there's lots of variation within each type.

I'm glad you love how I incorporated it though, I was a little worried because I know it's a very simplistic way of viewing it (I'll add percentage bonuses to certain personality stats in the next update).

And yeah, I'm probably just going to stick to the 9 core types in the game. Fun Fact: When I first started typing Lily and JM, I had no idea how the MBTI types work, and their test results came out very wrong. So I decided to just take the inverse of Wayne and Rosie's types, and it fit them surprisingly well. That's probably why I have more trouble connecting to them because I feel very much in tune with Wayne and Rosie despite being an introvert.

Anyway, I looked at the subtype descriptions:

I know I didn't need to read the descriptions to know that Wayne is an sx 7 😅 Very spot on since he's arguably more idealistic than Rosie.

Ohh this one is a surprise for me since I would've thought she's one of the other two subtypes, but I'm delightfully surprised to be wrong! I mean, I know that she's a people pleaser and that she's afraid of being abandoned, but I guess reading the descriptions helped make those connections more concrete in my mind.

It being the 2's countertype makes a lot of sense, and that explains why she's not an extreme extrovert. Turns out even I am misunderstanding her. 😭 And no wonder she likes being cute so much.

Oh, I'm pretty sure JM is a Type 3. The sp subtype apparently seems like Type 1 sometimes, so maybe that's why. And yeah, the sp description seems about right—he tends to be modest with his achievements and doesn't enjoy being in the spotlight much.

I'm not 100% sure about Lily since she's also pretty secretive, but I think it's safe to say that sx is her blind spot.

She's very conflicted about herself though, so it'll be interesting to see what you think of her after we visit her story world. 😉

B is very much a counter-phobic 6 so yup, the sx description fits them very well.

I'm not totally sure about B being an INTJ though. Both because I don't have a good understanding of the type, and because they're not as developed as the other F6E members. I only really understand the type once I have a character that I can associate with that type, but hopefully I'll figure it out once they start having more screentime.

GASP! KARAOKE!!!! Hi friend, I love this idea so so much! Karaoke is one of my favourite things!!!!! That being said, I can ramble on music and song choices for forever, and so be prepared. This is gonna be a long one :D

Ok, so Kisuke dragged them out there. Who is 'them'? Oh the usual crew: Ichigo, Yoruichi, Grimmjow, Orihime (she went willingly), Chad, Uryu, Renji, Rukia (again she went willingly), and Nel joins this time too!

As for songs...well here's what I think:

Rukia and Orihime are the ones that are totally enthusiastic about this whole outing. They are very excited to be there. And Nel is excited too, even if she doesn't get all of it. That doesn't stop her from joining in with the other two just as energetically! I think the girls would sing together at least a few songs, and they would be songs like Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen, Hips Don't Lie by Shakira, CAPSULE by Hikari no Disco (link here, if you haven't heard this one before, it's cute and has a fun tune!), and other fun tunes that fit that kind of vibe. Nel doesn't necessarily know all the words, but she bops along with them and dances enthusiastically around. Maybe at the start they try some harmonies (building off your idea that Rukia is an alto and Orihime sings soprano, because I absolutely love that) but by the end of it, they are just having fun and singing as happily as they can, not even really caring what they sound like because they are too caught up in enjoying themselves (which is how karaoke is meant to be!) Nel is very off-key and off-beat, but no one cares because she is happy and it's pretty hard for anyone to want to criticize someone who looks so happy to just be there.

Kisuke doesn't go up to sing. But he does drunkenly sing along to every song the girls sing while remaining in his seat curled up next to Yoruichi.

Then, it's Yoruichi's turn. And yeah, she's gonna sing. This woman has confidence, as well as skill she has cultivated over the many years. I like to imagine her voice is also low, chesty, warm and soothing like the smell of cinnamon or the taste of hot tea sweetened with just the slightest touch of honey, or the feel of a warm and strong hug. She knows what songs suit her, too. She's gonna go for the ballads, but not just any ballad. She goes for jazz. Yoruichi sings Summertime, and if you want to know how I imagine her singing to be, just listen to Ella Fitzgerald sing it here! (Ella Fitzgerald is an absolute queen, her voice is so amazing and she is so beautiful!) Kisuke just falls more and more in love with Yoruichi as she sings. This is the only song he's quiet for. (Ichigo goes "oh now he's quiet" and Kisuke hucks a shoe at him and tells him to shut up).

Poor Renji gets dragged up there by Rukia to sing with the girls even though he knows none of the songs. (Rukia only knows them all because her and Orihime have sleep overs and listen to music while painting each other's nails and catching up on everything that's been going on). He is highly embarrassed and flees back to his seat as soon as he can. Then he just sits there all night, face as red as his hair.

Uryu has much the same fate as Renji, but he was dragged up there by Orihime (I think this is a cute ship tbh). He stumbles through one song and dance with the girls, and then manages to escape.

Chad is incredibly quiet, and he doesn't go up to sing for a long time. It takes all of the girls persuading him (and maybe a few drinks? I'm putting this during a time when they're all old enough to drink alcohol). But when he does, his voice is smooth, bass, beautiful, like the thunder rolling across the sky during a storm, and kind of surprises everyone (except Ichigo who knows only because he and Chad sometimes would sing along to their favourite songs on the radio together while hanging out). But Chad is not just a gentle soul. Oh no. He has power to his voice. So he starts off with Sound of Silence by Disturbed (link here for those who are unfamiliar with this version, it's my favourite version of the song).

Unfortunately for Ichigo, the fact he has spent time singing with Chad previously means that Chad knows Ichigo can sing. And Chad is not as innocent as everyone thinks. If he has to suffer, so does Ichigo. So he totally makes the off-hand comment that Ichigo should sing next, because his voice is really good. And now our poor Ichigo has everyone hounding him and Rukia drags him up there and Renji is shouting that he needs to because Rukia already forced him, so it's only fair! And so Ichigo is forced up there. Chad picks the song because he knows Ichigo won't. And he knows exactly which song he's gonna choose and as soon as he hears the intro, Ichigo glares at Chad because what the hell Chad you can't just choose the song Ichigo says reminds him of Grimmjow that is just not fair. Which song, you ask? Criminal, by Britney Spears. :D Ichigo sings it and the entire time he is literally glaring at Chad. And Grimmjow is now confused because is Ichigo singing it to Chad? But why is he angry at Chad then? And why does Grimmjow not like the idea of him singing that song specifically for someone? He has many emotions. He is grumpy and doesn't know what to do for the rest of the song. But he relaxes a bit when Ichigo comes and sits next to him and not Chad. He grins smugly at Chad, but Chad just...smiles knowingly back at him? And now he is More Confused. He would go up there and sing a song for Ichigo, as a fuck-you to Chad (definitely not as showing off to Ichigo, not at all), but he doesn't know what song to choose, how karaoke works, and he is still shy about singing in front of other people. So when he goes home that night, he goes through all the music he has learned about and searches for songs to sing to Ichigo (he's not even sure why but he just knows that he needs to be prepared next time so that he can show Chad he isn't special just because Ichigo was looking at him specifically for an entire song). He will be prepared for the next karaoke session.

I agree with Kishimoto never trying to use the girls. The hate they get is not fair. I used to defend Sakura back in the days because I hoped kishi would do her justice. When shippuden started I WAS SO HAPPY because I thought this was the start of something great for Sakura and the girls but NOOOOO. Every time, Sasuke showed kishi turned her brainless. If you compare Naruto's actions and Sakura's actions to sasuke, you'd see they're completely different. What's up with that weird fake love confession scene 😭? It makes her look like she was manipulating Naru. JEEZ.

Also he literally had badass Tenten and Temari with cool useful abilities and he didn't use them ?! TF ?! Thank god for modern authors who treat their characters with respect :)

The way I see it, Sakura's character development in shippuden was always one step forward, two steps back. She gets this really badass scene (like her fight with Sasori and those cool ass medical skills) but is then regressed back into a pining girl in love every time Sauce is on screen or Kishi just throws her in the background YET AGAIN.

I love Sakura's abilities actually. Her brute strength, intelligence, vast knowledge and skill as a medic nin. But what I dislike about her character is how kishi handled her feelings for Sasuke. Naruto and Sakura's obsession with Sasuke was so???? huh??? it was so damn toxic and i never once understood why both Nardo and Sak were so obsessed with him. They were a team for one year???? I mean its great that they care about him alot but Sauce's feelings were kinda valid. His freakin clan died. Id go batshit crazy against my own village too. BUT BESIDES THAT. Both Nart and Sakura's Sasuke obsession was so annoying. 80% of shippuden was literally Keeping up with the Uchihas or Naruto yelling SASUKEH. BUT what irks me so much is the fandom's double standards with both Naruto and Sakura. "Oh Sakura shouldve gotten over her Sasuke obsession" but then turn around and call Naruto's obsession cute and gush about how he's so in love with him!!

Hot take but the only reason why sasunaru is "the most developed ship with the most chemistry" is because theyre both male characters.

I guarantee you if Naruto was a girl and SHE would be the one to have this unhealthy obsession who was chasing around Sasuke, the fandom would shit on Naruto just as much. And if Sasuke were a girl, Sauce would be sidelined like the rest of the female cast and Naruto would have another male character to have a "brotherly bond" with, because thats the only bond Kishimoto is actually good at developing. Yey for male characters having all the screentime and cool assets <333

And about that confession scene, I get her intentions. I really do. I understand that she did that in order to bring him home and that she cares about him but honey, w-why?? Why lie to him about your feelings?? Supposed he DID believe her, then what? then what kishi???? huh??? Some of her fans point the blame on Sai or whatever but I personally dont see why that scene was at all necessary. Maybe to establish Naruto's feelings for her wasnt all that serious? or his maturity? idk man. That scene was such a clusterfuck.

In the end her development in The Last and in Boruto was immaculate. She had one of the best glow ups in the old gen and ironically enough, her character wasn't butchered in Boruto. She got badass scenes she was cheated from in shippuden. I also love how she's finally getting the spotlight she deserves. Unlike the other konoha 12 :,)))

Okay onto the next female character that Kishi completely wasted. My baby. My light. 🙈 AAAHHH HINATAA.

Let me just establish this real quick. Hinata's goal was to get stronger because of Naruto, her goal was never to be with Naruto. She wanted to become someone who is worthy enough to stand beside him, someone whom he can consider as an equal, as a partner. She NEVER once said "marrying Naruto-kun is my all time goal UwU" (if youre one of those weirdos who interpret her character that way, youre immediately invalid, go take a hike)

I personally dont have anything against their crushes but to the point of making their personalities revolve around these guys every time theyre onscreen is so fucking frustrating. And with the way he writes their dialogues is so.damn.cringey. Like that one scene in the war arc with Tsunade and Madara

If im being honest. Hinata's character is actually kinda well written. Not well executed. Dear God no. But with the way he set her story, her personality, her chracterization. She's honestly one of the best written female characters on the show. IMO. By Kishi's standards of writing women ofc. She's hands down one of the most complex characters. Her shy personality wasnt out of the blue, it wasnt a cutesy waifu trait. Her abusive upbringing made her that way. Her trauma turned her that way. So yeah, sue her if she looked up to Naruto as an inspiration when everyone else in her family treated her like dust. Shit on her for having Naruto's love light in her dark when her own damn father wouldnt even look her in the eye and her entire clan shunned her because she was "weak." She doesnt owe her family shit so idgaf what they do with the Hyuga clan. Neji and Hanabi aren't included btw

They made her into an invisible trophy wife and "the mc's mother" and we all KNOW what happens to the shounen mc's mother once mc is in need of character development :) Quit putting her in the background. Give us that scene where she won against Hanabi DESPITE being retired for years. Give us that scene where she trains Boruto. GIVE US ANY FIGHT SCENE OF HER WHERE HER POTENTIAL ISNT WASTED WTF?¿

Now if you say that Hinata didnt have development. YOURE INVALID. She came from an abusive household, the shyest girl in her class, her insecurities got in the way of her own confidence, had difficulty of standing up for herself now became a loving mother of two, has the guts to kick her husband out of the house(with whom she couldnt even keep eye contact with when she was a kid) became the strongest hyuga, most supportive wife and mother, and has given her kids the comforting childhood she never had as a kid.

She has one of the most beautiful stories in the show and if you think her personality is only Naruto-kun and big boobs, then im sorry that you cant appreciate such a heartwarming story.

And I agree, killing her would honestly make me feel more at ease than continue to see her suffer because of godawful misogynistic writers. But at least let her die in an epic fight. Please. PLEASEE. She got nerfed so bad, i feel a physical pain every time i think about it

Okay what else. I think Ino got pretty good development. Another wasted potential in shippuden but she's doing good for herself in Boruto. I dont know what Temari is up to. They basically made her into another classic angry mom who beats up her husband for comedy trope. Haha very funny and original! Im not sure with her career, im not that invested in the anime.

as a bts author who happens to write smut, i don’t even technically see the guys as the people im writing about. i just use their names and faces as place holders, like actors in movies. i know for a fact that they wouldn’t do any of the things they’re doing, it’s all fiction. writing bts fanfiction has been a way for me to get back into enjoying writing (a hobby i stopped several years ago), so i’m grateful for the boys for helping reignite my love for writing

also writing and reading smut is a safe way to explore sexuality. granted a lot of it is unrealistic, but it’s often noted by the author that it is fake and not realistic/real. so with that in mind, it’s an easier way for people to learn what they feel like they may be into/attracted to

fans of bts just don’t only see the boys are sex objects, they see them for everything they are. musicians, performers, people, etc. we don’t forget that and we do acknowledge it. no one sees them as just sexual beings. they’re a whole person. i’m sure bunny, as well as anyone else that follows her, agrees with me that they just don’t see bts as sex objects

I don’t want to dwell on it tbh because it’s a subject that has been talked about sooo many times and I don’t want to go into any arguments/debates about it, but yes all us who write and consume us are fully aware it’s all fictional and same, they are characters in our stories who help us to release the feelings that we have and build/support our creative minds. Also my god YES smut has helped me sexually in so many ways, it may not always be realistic but it’s opened up so much in me that I didn’t even know about and helped me to realise kinks etc that I didn’t know about myself and I’m so thankful for it 😊. I’ve been reading smut since I was a teen (omg tmi I used to read Joe Jonas smut aaahhh the embarrassment 😂😂), and the amount of talent these writers have and give to us for free, like wow- this for many may be one of the easiest ways to get their skill out there and appreciated as its something that’s consumed by thousands of people.

100% we see the guys as musicians and the wonderful people that they are first and always, just because we don’t always acknowledge it here doesn’t mean that we don’t care because holy fuck it was the incredible music and the talent that drew us in and kept us here for life 🥰. BTS best boys 🥰🥰
