No updates yet, but progress is going! I want to finish it before Wayne and Roselyna's birthday comes up again, but you already know how that goes. (Sorry, I forgot JM and Mary's birthdays were last week)

I've been sharing some screenshots of the new additions in the Discord, but besides the new branch, here's a quick summary of the new stuff in the next update to tide you over:

Customize your eyeglasses

Give your twins secret embarrassing nicknames!

New NP choice to customize B's nickname for MC!

Decipher an encrypted sticky note in MC's locker

Ask Lily about 'The Man from Taured'

Option to make MC write their surname first before given name

Select Singer MC's vocal range + added custom input for musical instruments

Choose MC's favorite TV channel with no NP restrictions

New Traits: [Smooth Moves], [Two Left Feet], [Sickness Magnet]

New details to existing secrets (Wayne was almost kidnapped, more info why Maggie rarely calls, another heartbreaking reason why Wayne stopped calling Roselyna 'ate', a darker reason why JM likes supernatural stuff, plus more secret changes)

Expanding the janitor chase scene

New NP choice to select Top 5/Top 10 Student if you don't meet the requirements

New NP choice to let Wayne, Roselyna, Lily (and maybe JM) to mouth off Tita Steph without any filters

Playthrough summary is now shown when you finish a chapter

Steal your twin's slippers + More twin banter!

Lots more!

Anyway, I've thought about the "new" NP system a little more, and I've decided to hold off on implementing it. Instead, I'll just polish off the existing choices, remove some of the extraneous ones that feel more like filler, and add more impactful ones going forward.

It was actually very fun brainstorming what F6E would say to Tita Steph if they didn't have any filters, so maybe I'll share a snippet or two when I'm done editing those. 😛

What does the shutdown of Dashingdon mean for ddwcaph? (One of my favorite WIPs out of all of the ones I have read since I joined the forum)

Hello! First off, thank you to everyone who has sent me a message about this! I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, this is very bad timing for me as I'm still sick, but I figured I should let everyone know what my plans are.

If you aren't aware, I'm planning to convert DDWCaPH! into a visual novel. I still haven't decided if I'll do the conversion after I'm done with Volume 1 as a whole or after the next big update, but Dashingdon shutting down doesn't really change anything.

As for the current demo... honestly, I'd rather wait for the next update to be finished before I reupload the files somewhere else. Moving the files is trivial, but the game has A LOT of graphics and music/sound files, and I just don't have the energy to deal with all of that right now. The current version of the files in my computer is also a mess (I don't keep previous versions in a different save), so there will be tons of bugs if I upload them as they are right now. Copying the code directly from Dashingdon doesn't really work well either because it messes up all the special characters/emojis.

Lastly, I feel like the current version of the demo is not fully representative of the story and game anymore. There aren't any huge changes compared to the last time I took down the demo for the same reason, but that's just what I'm feeling.

That said, I won't stop anyone from downloading and keeping a personal copy for the time being. But if you still haven't read the latest update, please do so now! I'm not sure when I'll be able to finish the next update.

I remember seeing an ask that said Rosie would be open to adopting kids - does that include fostering?

Yup! It's pretty much safe to say that Roselyna would be open to anything involving taking care of kids.

She would still rather have her own kids early on, but she'd grow more open to fostering (and adoption) as she gets older. What's one or two more when she has a bus-ful of grandkids already? 😄

Oh wow. I guess it's understandable, but I totally wasn't expecting Lily's parents to be on the crush list! Not sure how Lily would feel about that though. 😅

I'm not gonna mention any spoilers, but believe me when I say that their cool factor will be much higher in the later volumes (especially Dani). 😄

Of course! Well, Rosie especially.

It definitely won't be Wayne's first choice and you'd have to rope him into it first, but chances are he'd like it well enough when he actually gets to watch it, especially if it's a romcom. If it's mostly drama without any action though, he'd probably get bored of it.

Yup, this is more fitting for the IAC blog! I could share some random facts, but I'm honestly overdue for cleaning up all my old worldbuilding notes, and I don't wanna mention something that's likely to be outdated with all the new developments since then.

I don't wanna ramble for too long, but yeah, I'm honestly so tired and disappointed seeing ensemble casts (especially in IF) that more or less look similar. Like there's so many more interesting character designs you can do with more variety in body types (and not just fat characters), without solely relegating them to comic relief, outcasts, or villains.

It's almost a guilty pleasure for me at this point, but it's fun trying to make each of them different, whether it's in terms of age, gender, height, fashion style, body composition/proportions, or differing opinions/experiences/importance in their character arc. Oh, and there might be more in IAC too that I haven't introduced yet!

Of course, I'm not saying my characters are perfect (especially if you've seen my earlier drafts). I'm actually adjusting some of the related choices/dialogue so that there's (hopefully) more nuance between all the positivity and negativity. I'm trying my best, so please let me know if there's something that needs pointing out.

First off, thank you so much for the kind message! I'd love to hear your favorite characters, scenes, or anything you wanna share. ☺️

I don't have anything at the moment, but I'm actually planning on starting a Ko-fi soon! I could set it up right now, but I wanted to finish the next update first before launching it. I think that's fair.

Unfortunately, losing all my old school and art files last year means I've lost most of the supplementary material I was planning to share (such as the original first draft), so I can't offer much in that regard for now.

Anyway, yes, I'm still alive! I kinda wanted to make something special during the holidays, but I figured that would just take away more time from me actually making progress. I admittedly haven't done much progress since my last update, but I'm back to writing in full gear again!

I've also gotten a lot of new ideas, as well as character and plot developments since then. This is critical to the story moving forward, so the next update will take longer while I evaluate what to do with it. When I've finished most of my to-do list, I'll talk more about additional changes I'm making to the NP system (which should hopefully make them more interesting and engaging) so look forward to a poll when that's done!

When's B's birthday?

Hmm, lemme check my notes... Yup, I totally haven't thought about that yet or even their Zodiac sign! 😅 To be fair, B's birthday is the least relevant to the plot.

Until now, I haven't really decided if B should be younger or older than MC. It feels like B should be a little older than MC, but that would limit my possible options to March and early May (since I wouldn't want B to also be a Gemini). March probably less so, since I already have a couple of March character birthdays.

Taurus does seem to fit B quite well, so it's in April or May, most likely. I usually try to pick a symbolic number for the date, so my first thought was April 30 since it's right in between the two months.

But after thinking about it, I'll probably go with May 7. I consider B to be the "5th/7th member" of the group, so 5/7 would fit that quite well. Hehe. 😄
