doctor who numbering explained
The 1st to 8th doctors are the 1st to 8th doctors.
The 9th doctor is the war doctor.
The 10th doctor is the 9th doctor.
The 11th doctor is the 10th doctor.
The 12th doctor is the 10th doctor.
The 13th doctor is the 11th doctor.
The 14th doctor is the 12th doctor.
The 15th doctor is a bunch of daleks.
The 16th doctor is the 13th doctor.
The 1st 17th doctor is the master.
The 2nd 17th doctor is the 14th doctor.
The 18th doctor is the 15th (and current) doctor, Ncuti Gatwa.
Also all of these numbers are off by about 15 if you count the shalka, foundling, fugitive, division and morbius doctors (who are all technically canon)
Hope this clears things up!

Doctor Who's 15th Doctor (16th? 14th...? I'm counting Jo Martin but not David Tennant twice so 15th.) in brown-tinted pencil on mixed media paper.
Another request from my sibling of a fandom I'm not in but know much about anyways.
Daily portrait #8 and only BIPOC portrait #2, which is rather a shame, honestly. I do love the white/white-passing characters that I've drawn, but to me at least, drawing and painting people of darker skin tones is way more fun, and there's an actual reason for this. The highlights on people's skin will always be the same light shade, regardless of skin tone, simply due to how reflection works, but with people of darker skin tones, the middle values and shadows are allowed to be a little darker and a little richer, and you don't have to dance around putting actual value into the skin. BBC Sherlock, for example, is a great character, but absolutely pasty, and trying to get his skin an accurate shade was absolute hell. More importantly, I just love diversifying my artwork since every field, including art, seems lacking in representation, and it seems Doctor Who also picked up on this sentiment with Ncuti Gatwa, their first BIPOC Doctor here to stay.
Taking free requests for any live-action character you want to see in a monochromatic medium.
Other Doctors:
15
Fugitive
13

See the problem with sites posting fake news on April Fools is that it can be really really hard to tell if it's actually real news that just happened to come out on April 1st, or if it's a gag news story.
If that news article is about Doctor Who... That's hard mode.
Well, let's all hope fervently that this is the latter, yeah?

so the 14th doctor is the master which makes 13 also the 15th doctor and then 10 is also the 16th doctor and then finally the new guy is the 17th doctor?? but this isn’t even considering the shenanigans of the war doctor which made 9 actually the 10th doctor, and then 10 is actually the 11th as well as the 12th doctor due to more shenangians. making 11 actually the 13th, and 12 actually the 14th. so 13 is actually the 15th, then the master is the 16th, 13′s again the 17th, 10 is the 18th and ncuti gatwa is the 19th doctor. Make sense?

'Bad Wolf, Torchwood, Saxon... now "The One Who Waits" appears to be joining the ranks of Doctor Who story arcs teased by writer/showrunner Russell T Davies.
The Giggle – the third and last of the show's 60th anniversary specials – saw the Doctor (David Tennant) once again face off with old foe The Toymaker (now played by Neil Patrick Harris).
The events of previous episode Wild Blue Yonder saw the Doctor unwittingly allow the Toymaker – an elemental force who exists beyond the rules of the universe – entry into our universe.
In The Giggle, the cruel Toymaker was able to provoke the Doctor into challenging him to a game – as the two prepared to match wits, the villain taunted the Time Lord with tales of his accomplishments.
"I came to this universe with such delight," he said. "I played them all, Doctor – I toyed with supernovas, turned galaxies into spinning tops, I gambled with God and made him a jack-in-the-box."
We even discover that The Master – last played by Sacha Dhawan in last year's The Power of the Doctor – fell foul of the Toymaker, losing a game to the villain and ending up trapped, apparently for all eternity.
But then, the Toymaker makes a confession: "There's only one player I didn't dare face – The One Who Waits.
"I saw it, hiding, and I ran."
The Doctor attempts to question the Toymaker further, but he shrugs off his earlier comments, telling his nemesis: "That's someone else's game."
So who is The One Who Waits?
The Toymaker is established as having power almost without limit, able to manipulate the atoms of the universe and conjure up his own magical domain – in The Giggle, we saw a shaken Doctor uncertain if he'll be able to best his enemy once again.
The fact then that, whoever or whatever they are, The One Who Waits is capable of striking fear into the heart of the Toymaker is pretty terrifying. Could an even more powerful being exist in the Whoniverse?
Interestingly, in a social media post made in October, the official Doctor Who account appeared to refer to the Toymaker himself as "the one who waits" – but it's made clear in The Giggle that he's referring not to himself but to some other figure.
Of course, the Toymaker isn't the only all-powerful, ever-living being to exist in the worlds of Doctor Who...
Making their debut in the 1983 story Enlightenment, the Eternals are a race of elemental beings of immense power, capable of manipulating matter and creating objects out of thin air.
These amoral creatures act purely for their own amusement, manipulating "Ephemerals" (read: mortal beings) for fun.
Then there are the Guardians, who first appeared in Doctor Who's 16th season in 1978, a series of interlinked stories which saw the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) on a quest to find the legendary Key to Time.
Transcendental beings who embodied aspects of the universe, immortal and indestructible, we met the White Guardian (Cyril Luckham) – who represented light, order and structure – and his eternal opponent the Black Guardian (Valentine Dyall) – the personification of darkness, entropy and chaos.
Most recently, 2020 episode Can You Hear Me? saw the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) and friends lured into a trap by Zellin (Ian Gelder), an immortal "god" who was haunting the dreams of humans, all to feed his beloved Rakaya (Clare-Hope Ashitey).
Could one of these creatures, or something like them, be "The One Who Waits"?
It's also possible, of course, that Russell T Davies has invented an entirely new menace. In the episode The Star Beast, The Meep (voiced by Miriam Margolyes) revealed itself to be in the employ of a figure it referred to as "the boss".
David Tennant later admitted that he remains oblivious to the identity of "the boss", which suggested that this reveal would be held back until Ncuti Gatwa's time in the TARDIS.
The Meep's admission and the Toymaker's confession in The Giggle could be the start of something much larger and entirely unexpected...'

From the pages of doctor who magazine”
Liberation of the daleks collects the official fourteen episode introductory story for the new doctor. David Tennant plays the new doctor, officially designated as number 14, but as he is the 15th regeneration since hartnell changed to troughton that makes him technically the 16th doctor. * see list at end! Anyway, this story takes place in the first hour of the new doctor's regeneration, starting with him entering the tardis after his regeneration at the end of the brilliant power of the doctor. The story is fun and well written by Alan barnes, a veteran of who comic strips. Lee Sullivan's art is exquisite throughout and this is a welcome addition to the doctor who magazine collections. The next collection out is the second Jodie book, one which is long overdue.
* regenerations. From the timeless child to the newest incarnation. A rough guide.
If we assume the first child we see is the original body and if we assume that each child we see tectum (not sure of the spelling!) with is consecutive then the doctor's time line becomes
The timeless child - original body
The timeless child - 1st regeneration
The timeless child - 2nd regeneration
The timeless child - 3rd regeneration
The timeless child - 4th regeneration
The timeless child - 5th regeneration
The timeless child - 6th regeneration
The timeless child - 7th regeneration this is the older child who we see joining the division. He is the first division agent doctor
Division agent doctor - multiple regenerations ending with the brain of morbius doctors:
Christopher Barry
Robert banks Stewart
Chris Baker
Philip hinchliffe
Douglas camfield
Graeme Harper
Robert Holmes
George gallaccio
Then...
Jo Martin
Two possible ways here. Jo Martin tries to run from division. She is eventually captured, regenerated and continues to work for division until granted retirement with the final face before hartnell which is George. Or jo is the final agent before hartnell, runs, gets captured and is granted retirement under conditions of memory wipe, which seems to be the answer as indicated in the Flux storyline of 2021. Either way...
The timeless doctor - post division retirement
The doctor 1st body post retirement - William hartnell
The doctor 1st regeneration post retirement - Patrick troughton
The doctor 2nd regeneration post retirement - jon pertwee
The doctor 3rd regeneration post retirement - Tom Baker
The doctor 4th regeneration post retirement - Peter davison
The doctor 5th regeneration post retirement - colin baker
The doctor 6th regeneration post retirement - Sylvester mccoy
The doctor 7th regeneration post retirement - Paul mcgann
The war doctor 8th regeneration post retirement - John hurt
The doctor 9th regeneration post retirement - Christopher eccleston (10th doctor)
The doctor 10th regeneration post retirement - David Tennant
The doctor partial 11th regeneration post retirement - David Tennant
Metacrisis human doctor remaining 11th regeneration energy - David Tennant
The doctor 12th regeneration post retirement - Matt smith (13th doctor)
The doctor/curator future regeneration post retirement - Tom baker
The doctor 13th regeneration post retirement - Peter capaldi
The doctor 14th regeneration post retirement - Jodie Whittaker
The doctor 15th regeneration post retirement - David Tennant
The doctor 16th regeneration post retirement - Ncuti gatwa (17th doctor)
The doctor's number has now been a bit of a moot point since the war doctor/Tennant second regeneration.

Will We Get a New Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Trailer This Weekend During Wimbledon?
Will We Get a New #DoctorWho 60th Anniversary Trailer This Weekend During Wimbledon?
There’s speculation that we’ll learn more about the upcoming Doctor Who 60th anniversary this weekend (15th- 16th July 2023) — potentially even a trailer. Rumours began to circle after the BBC Doctor Who Twitter account (which is like Threads but not owned by Facebook) tweeted four screenshots from a trailer, showing David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor,…

Competitions, Comebacks, and a Coronation: 5 Things to be excited about in 2023
Tumblr media
Deciding that two years of dragging ourselves through a pandemic wasn’t enough, the year 2022 said: "Hold my beer" and gave us the war in Ukraine, a cost of living crisis, more strikes than my ten-pin bowling game will ever see, and of course, the tragic death of Queen Elizabeth II.
We did get to enjoy the Lionesses brought football home at least. However, it is easy to feel cynical in times like these, but don’t despair.
Let's challenge the doom and gloom of the world with five things we should be excited about in 2023.
1. Peter Kay’s Tour Continues.  After his emotional return to the stage in early December of 2022, the creator and star of Phoenix Nights and Carpool, will continue his tour of the UK. He will begin the New year at Liverpool M&S Bank Arena before visiting other cities, including Glasgow, Belfast, London, and many more.
Although tickets have been difficult to buy, do not fret, maybe you can get tickets for his shows in the Year 3000. I’m sure Busted mentioned it in their 2002 hit.
2. Eurovision comes to Liverpool. Sam Ryder’s Spaceman saw the UK finish in its best position since 1998 (Imaani - Where are you?). The UK finish second for a record 16th time, losing out to Ukraine. The winners usually host the following year’s events, but with the current war in Ukraine, the UK has been honored to host in 2023. Enter Liverpool. After putting forward a strong bid, Liverpool, the home of The Beatles was selected as the city to host the event in May.
Allez Allez Allez for the UK Entry?
3. King Charles III Coronation In September 2022 the UK was in national mourning after the death of Queen Elizabeth !!, thus bringing her glorious reign, which spanned over seven decades, to an end. This means King Charles has taken the reins and his coronation, with Camilla as Queen Consort, will take place in early May at Westminster Abbey.
Just remember to sing God Save the King from now on.
4. The Lionesses Take on the World.  The Euro'scame home in 2022 when the Lionesses defeated Germany i nthe final, 2-1. Goals from Ella Toone and Chloe Kelly sealed the result. Legends were made in the Euro's, particularly Sports Personality of the Year winner: Beth Mead.
This time, Lionesses will travel down under for the Fifa World Cup with the hope and faith of the country behind them. Sarina Weigman remains unbeaten as England Head Coach since taking over the role in September 2021.
Can she continue her global dominance in July and bring the World Cup home? This is a definite must-watch in 2023.
5. The Doctor is… Who? Okay, this one could just be me geeking out, but David Tennant is reprising his role as Doctor Who for three episodes in November before handing over to Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa.
Russell T. Davies, the man who brought Doctor Who back onto our screens in 2005 before leaving in 2010 will also return as the show runner and we are all buzzing with anticipation. Since his departure we have seen two show-runners (Steve Moffat and Chris Chibnall) and three Doctors (Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, and Jodie Whittaker).
Whatever your thoughts on their performances save them for a Reddit or Twitter thread, there will be no conflict here.
And there you have it, five things to be excited about in 2023. Are you happy with the list? Did I miss something? Did I add something I shouldn’t have? Let me know in the comments below.
Oh… and have an amazing year.

Doctor Who/Torchwood/Sarah Jane Adventures
For my friend’s 16th birthday, we went to a British-style restaurant and later watched Doctor Who. All her other friends had seen it before. We started off with “Rose.” (My friend’s favorite Doctor is Eccleston and her favorite companion is Rose). Then we watched “The Empty Child” and “The Doctor Dances.” I was sold. Captain Jack was an interesting character and I liked that they time traveled to the past since I like learning about history.
I started watching right away. I got through Eccleston and Tennant quickly, but had a more challenging time when it came to Matt Smith. I decided to take a break and watch Torchwood. I absolutely loved it (except for season 4)! I then went back to watch Matt Smith’s seasons.
I continued with the show as long as it was on Netflix. Unfortunately, it was taken off of Netflix after Peter Capaldi’s first season. My husband and I recently caught up, except we have not seen the latest episode yet.
I also got a chance to watch The Sarah Jane Adventures. I like Sarah Jane as a character and will definitely have to check out her time as a companion during Tom Baker’s run as the Doctor.
My favorite doctor is David Tennant. I can't wait to see Ncuti Gatwa's spin on the Doctor.
