Night Visits
Eddie has been known to climb trees, especially ones that lead to a certain best friend’s bedroom window. He’s also been know to be quite skilled with his fingers.

Eddie took a short assessment of the large oak tree, testing its sturdy branches under his weight before making the climb. It seemed safe…enough. Tying up his hair into a makeshift ponytail, so as not to get caught in the bark, he made his ascend to your second story window. He thanked Ozzy for the barely there streetlights in your neighborhood, making it much easier to be stealthy without the watchful eye of passer-bys.
The soft glow of your bedside lamp illuminated your bedroom, reminding him of home. The lampshade created a shape akin to a halo over your features, which Eddie thought was quite fitting. He did the signature knock against the glass, alerting you to his presence. Your lips sported matching smiles as the window came up, letting in the cool breeze that carried Eddie’s signature scent. He smelled like evergreen trees, sandalwood, and weed if you stood close enough. And vanilla. His shampoo smelled like vanilla.
“Eds, it’s so late. What are you doing here?”
“I can’t come to see my favorite person?”, he retorts as he climbs through the window. His cow eyes scan your room, taking in the changes since the last time he was here. You plopped down onto your bed, watching him spin around.
“Now I didn’t say that. But it is a Saturday night, I’ve got church in the morning.” His mouth forms on ‘o’ shape in understanding. If there’s one thing you’ll commit to, it’s the church. It was quite endearing to him how devout you are, which made his plans for you all the more enticing.
“Then I guess we’ll just have to make this a sleepover,” he grins knowingly, mischief evident in his tone.
His eyes glance over to your purple alarm clock, noting the time. 11:43 pm. He makes himself comfortable beside you on the bed, inching closer every so often. You try to ignore him, attempting to focus on the book you were reading. At least it worked a little bit, until you felt a ghostly fingertip creep up your bare thigh.
“Yes, Eddie? Can I help you?” He looked almost angelic, if it weren’t for the hunger in his eyes.
“No. Not at all, sweetheart. Keep reading, don’t mind me.”
Except now you couldn’t. The words on the page blurred while you felt his fingertips move further up your legs. Your heartbeat echoed in your ears, nerves getting the best of you.
“You know I’ve been thinking about that night every day since?”, your best friend confessed.
You swallowed the lump in your throat, working up the courage to look him in the eye.
“Yeah?”
Your voice was just barely above a whisper, unable to speak louder for fear of it cracking. His fingertips didn’t stop dancing along your inner thigh, making it rather hard to focus. He nodded, hunger in his eyes still.
“You look like you wanna eat me, Eds.” He smiled sweetly, a stark contrast to the thoughts running through his head.
“Trust me, I want to.” He leaned in close, whispering the words in your ear.
His hand gripped the hem of your shorts, pulling lightly. He was a tease and he knew that. But the way your pupils dilated with need at every touch made it all worth torturing you.
“Do you wanna do what we did again?” You nodded fervently, not caring if you came on too strong. Eddie liked that about you, how eager you were. It was…sweet. Eddie bypassed the hem of your shorts, feeling for the wet spot on your underwear he knew would be present. The metalhead m smiled to himself, enjoying how easily you become putty in his hands. Slowly he dragged his fingertips over your slit, rubbing your clit through the thin material. He watched your hips push against his hand, making him chuckle quietly.
“You like when I do that, yeah?” Something akin to a yes was muttered under your breath, too focused on the circling of his fingers. You were almost too cute to corrupt. Almost.
“More, Eddie. More.” Now who was Eddie to deny you? He peppered soft kisses across your bare shoulders and collarbones before making his way down the length of your body. Just the thought of what he was about to do to you made his cock leak.
~~~
Your sex glistened in the soft light, wet with arousal. Eddie tried not to stare but fuck, he thought, you had such a pretty pussy. He glanced at you from the foot of the bed, taking notice of your shallow breathing and wet lips. Such a needy girl, he thought. Not breaking eye contact, he flattened his tongue to lick a stripe up to your clit.
The feeling was unfamiliar, but so good.
Eddie pulled your body closer to his face, forcing your thighs to spread. He started off slow, tongue meticulous but forceful. Eventually the novelty wore off, giving way to pleasure when your hips began to push towards his face of their own accord. He was like a starved man, sucking on your clit as though your body could provide all the sustenance needed to survive.
Your wetness dripped down his chin, covering his pink lips in a light sheen. It was absolutely sinful. A particularly strong motion forced a deep guttural moan from the back of your throat, perhaps too loud to be lied away if you were caught. Eddie stopped, eyes darting towards you with a certain dominance.
“Pretty girl, I know I know. But I need you to be quiet. Don’t wanna get caught now do you?”. His voice was stern enough to make you cower if it weren’t for the most charming grin you’d ever seen on his lips. It softened the blow some, but the message received.
His middle finger prodded against your entrance before slowly slipping in, meeting almost no resistance. He watched your eyes roll back, biting your lips to soften the mewls he pulled from your lips with every pump.
Eddie didn’t believe in god, but watching your precious innocence unravel as he fingered your pussy was something of an angel. He went back to lay between your thighs, teeth grazing across your clit and sucking up your juices. He chuckled lowly to himself, enjoying the way your hips met his stroking fingers to chase your orgasm.
“Eddie, please,” you begged stuttering on his name. He cooed, shushing and telling you to be good for him. Your walls fluttered around his fingers, squeezing in a way that hinted you were close. Your shallow breaths increased in frequency, feeling the tightness of an upcoming orgasm. It was just like before, only now you kind of knew what was to come. You chanted your best friend’s name into your pillow, trying your best to keep quiet but hardly being successful.
“That’s it princess, cum for me. I know you can do it.” Eddie’s praises did little to help your self control, which he realized with the way your walls fluttered at every new nickname. He watched intently as you came, not stopping his attack on your clit as he helped you ride out your orgasm.
“That’s my girl.” Slowly he pulled his fingers out, nearly cumming in his pants when his ears picked up on your soft whines. Eddie wished he had a camera in this moment, the entire scene at play worthy of being recorded. From the post-orgasm sheen on your skin and puffy bitten lips, to the slick on his fingers, he was convinced this was his haven.
Eddie sucked on his digits, relishing in the way you tasted. You were so cute like this, fucked out and he’d barely done a thing to you. Your head was clearly somewhere else, drifting while you came down back to Earth. Eddie’s erection strained against his jeans, something he would take care of at a later time. Or now, with you watching. The thought alone almost made him cum right then and there.
HCs For What The Obey Me Cast Smell Like 🌹🌼
Characters: everyone that has had a face reveal
This has been in my drafts for over a year. I finally finished it. Enjoy!
Lucifer
A cologne with a signature mix of fresh scents with some notes of leather. When he’s tired, he’ll occasionally switch to a cool cologne with minty notes to perk himself up. There’s also a faint aroma of tea or coffee in him depending on what he’s brewing to stay awake to burn the midnight oil to finish his endless work.
Mammon
Money Hmmm…a luxury cologne for sure! We all know he has a taste for high end items. I think he’d go for an old school fragrance, maybe something citrusy with a hint of tobacco.
Leviathan
Say it with me: Axe Body Spray
When Asmodeus yeets his axe into the void like the good little brother he is, he will gift Leviathan with cologne he thinks he will like. This means anything that comes in an anime-style container. So Leviathan’s scent will vary.
Satan
New book smell, old book smell, catnip - it depends on what he’s up to. I don’t doubt for one second he always has at least one pouch of catnip on him. He probably has some nice cologne too courtesy of Asmo or his various connections in his social circles.
Asmodeus
He likes to burn vanilla, sandalwood, and amber scented candles and incense so he has those scents on him. Asmo also has a variety of colognes and perfumes so his scent changes almost daily.
Beelzebub
Beel could smell like the most heavenly cupcakes ever baked or the greasiest burger ever fried. It all depends on what he just ate. Because of how much the boy eats he tends to smell like the food he ate.
No one is to give him food-scented cologne because he will just eat the bottle. He uses neutralizing scents to bathe so the scents don’t get in the way of him enjoying his food later.
Belphegor
Fabric softener with notes of lavender. He needs the softest of sheets with the most relaxing scent possible. Sometimes he’ll opt to use a lavender and eucalyptus scented pillow mist too so that scent will cling to him.
Diavolo
A woody cologne to go along with his naturally smoky scent from his constant use of fire magic. Sometimes he changes it up with warm scents like cinnamon and ginger or something lively like citrus.
Barbatos
If he were to wear cologne at all it would be something very subtle with notes of bergamot that closely matches earl grey tea. The notes are calming yet revitalizing at the same time. Sometimes it’s whatever pastries he’s just baked. He smells sweet and warm. Barbatos can also smell very clean like tea tree oil with notes of mint. It just depends on what he’s doing at the time.
Simeon
Most mornings he smells like pancakes since he’s constantly making them for Luke. Simeon also likes refreshing scents with minty notes or anything with an “ocean” or “sea” label as it helps him to relax and focus on writing.
Solomon
He is constantly burning sage, patchouli, nag champa, or frankincense to cover up the smell of his various potions and experiments so he smells like an incense hippie shop. (I highly approve btw!)
BUT I could also see this weirdo quickly spritzing Old Spice on himself as well.
Luke
Little angel baby bakes a lot so he smells sweet with notes of whatever it is that he’s baking or like the pancakes he loves to eat!
Thirteen
It depends on her mood! Some days it’s strawberries like her favorite strawberry shampoo and body wash. Other days she goes for something different like amber or a floral scent.
Mephistopheles
On days he pulls all nighters working on the newspaper, coffee: black, medium roast. Besides that he wears a posh cologne brand with notes of rosewood and tobacco.
Raphael
Pine trees and woody notes with a hint of spice. Is it cologne, his body wash, or his natural scent? You’ll have to ask him!
The black marble floors of Lucifer’s throne room stung your bare feet with a chill at each step, contrasting perfectly with the heat of the hellish realm. The air smelled of burnt sandalwood, vanilla and sin; a strangely comforting scent, one signature to the Morningstar. You ascended the steps to find them seated at the edge of the small pit of fire at the center of the room, fingers dancing amid the flames. You watched closely, their long digits twirling them around, coaxing them higher. They had yet to regard your presence, but they spoke up nonetheless.
“My curious Little Lamb.” Your next steps were hesitant, and you came to a halt a few feet from them. Deciding it was in your best interest to remain on their good side, you knelt before them out of respect, dropping to one knee and lowering your gaze to the floor. Out of your line of sight, they turned to take you in in your submissive state, a pleased smile crossing their features.
After several moments, you lifted your eyes to meet theirs, and a chill ran down your spine at the way they looked down at you. “Rise, and join me,” were their only words, turning their attention back to the flames beside them.
You stood slowly, hands clasping behind your back as you moved in their direction. Taking a seat in front of them on the cool ruddy stone, you turned your gaze to the fire as well, its heat licking at your exposed skin around your white silken gown. A rogue spark flew in your direction, landing on the back of your hand. You hissed in pained surprise, and shook it in the air briefly. The Morningstar only chuckled; of course your pain brought them joy. The sound of their laugh distracted you momentarily, as it was a sound that hinted at the life they once lived - it was an angelic, throaty sound. You scowled in return, but couldn’t help the blush that rose to your cheeks. You were making a habit of proving yourself a fool in front of this timeless being.
“Give me your hand,” they said gently, reaching out their own in encouragement. Placing it palm-down, you assumed they meant to tend to your small wound, but they turned it upward instead, their other hand still dancing amid the flames. Drawing it out, they brought with them a perfectly round ball of heat, and you watched as they manipulated it with their fingers. “Keep very still.”
They eased the ball of fire into your palm, and you gasped. You watched in bewilderment as it failed to burn you. Instead it danced and lashed about, hovering only inches above your flesh. Eyes wide, you shot them a wide grin, amazed at its inability to harm you. Their fingers rose to toy with it absentmindedly before scooping it from where it sat and dropped it back into the pit.
You scooted closer toward them, their adoring gaze inviting you into their space. As your eyes swept over their form, they fell to their glorious wings peeking over their shoulders before rising to meet theirs. You were so curious about them; were they heavy? How often did they use them for their intended purpose? How did Lucifer dress in their robes if they protruded from their back? As you pondered, their smirk never left their face, as if they could sense your questions before you voiced them.
“What do they… feel like?” You nodded in the direction of the leathery appendages, hoping such a question wasn’t too imposing. You couldn’t imagine carrying the literal nor metaphorical weight on your shoulders as a reminder of your faults. Lucifer turned their head to regard them before answering, and they fluttered in acknowledgement.
“I suppose they took some getting used to, but adjust to them, I did,” they answered plainly. Your fingers twitched in curiosity, hand still resting in the Morningstar’s much larger one. They raised an eyebrow and caught your gaze, spurring you on to ask what you really wanted to.
“May I touch them?” Their eyes narrowed at you, not out of anger, but in interest. They thought you quite brave for making such a request. Not a single soul in Hell dared touch them in that way, let alone ask to. Realizing you could do no harm to them in their own dominion, they silently obliged, left wing unfolding from behind them. Your eyes followed its length outward; their wingspan was easily eight feet, maybe more. Stretching to its full size, it flexed around its owner’s form in your direction before coming to rest a few inches from where you sat, shielding you from the doorway through which you entered.
Your fingers were gentle as you reached out, allowing only the backs of them to stroke the bone beneath darkened flesh. They were much softer than you had anticipated, and the joints twitched at the contact. You flinched away at the small reflex, before spreading the pads of your fingers over the expanse between its thinner connective structures. Your fingers traced the small veins that showed through them due to the fire’s light delicately, and a small sigh emanated from beside you. Your movements stilled as you turned your head to meet the gaze of a flushed Lucifer Morningstar, who immediately retracted their wing to their back.
“I think that is quite enough.” You didn’t mean to offend them, and you assumed you had, until your mind put the pieces together. They refused to meet your eyes with their own, which were now hooded by something darker, as they turned their attention back to the flames beside you both - desire. Boldly you stood from your seat, and your feet padded their way behind them. Both folded wings sat before you, and you knelt upon the raised ring of stone to maintain your height with theirs. Against your better judgement, you reached out and placed your hands on their shoulders and began massaging through their blood-red robes. A hum of approval came as a welcomed surprise as you manipulated the tense muscles beneath, Lucifer’s eyes fluttering shut as they succumbed to the contact. The sound filled you with a newfound confidence, and you lowered your lips to their ear.
“If I didn’t know better, I would think you enjoyed that…” You were pushing your luck, you knew, but if your reward was more of the heavenly sounds of their pleasure, how could you even consider stopping yourself? The glorious entity before you sighed again, more deeply in response to your whispers.
Your fingers worked the muscles to the base of their wings, thumbs digging into where they were rooted in their back. A low growl rattled in Lucifer’s chest and you placed an open-mouthed kiss on their pulse point, tongue tracing over the sensitive skin. Their initial shock at the eroticism gave way to submission and they melted into your touch, their posture going more slack as you continued in your descent upon them.
Both wings spread outward to half their full length to grant you better access, and you smoothed your hands over their upper ridges, digits dancing over their horned peaks. A breathy moan fell from Lucifer’s mouth as your gentle touch swept over the sharp points, and you whispered to them again, your voice dropping several octaves.
“Would the Ruler of Hell do me the pleasure of touching themselves for me?” You nearly groaned at the suggestive nature of your own question, and their legs immediately fell apart. Taking advantage of the large split in their robes, you watched as their long fingers stroked up their bare thigh, and you blushed upon realizing they had been naked beneath them the whole time.
You timed your next move perfectly; just as their touch reached the apex of their thighs, you brushed your thumb over the curved edge of the horn in your grasp, and the Morningstar threw their head back against your shoulder with a rumbling moan. The effect you had on them amazed you. What began as innocent curiosity had turned into something so much more fruitful and satisfying.
Lucifer’s breaths were labored as you continued to work them up, hands rubbing and squeezing along the joints of their massive wings. You then splayed your fingers apart, running them down the expanse of flesh between them. They quivered in response, their breaths shaky as they drew closer to their climax. Your mouth watered at the sight of them pleasuring themselves, the muscles of their forearm flexing as they circled their bundle of nerves that was just barely hidden from sight. Pressing your body into their back, you applied pressure to where their wings sprouted from the pale, toned flesh beneath the red silk, and they relished in the closeness.
With a final stroke over the lower tips of their leathery appendages, they came undone before you with stifled cry. Your hands grasped their waist as Lucifer fell, steadying them against your form. You pressed a kiss to the top of their spine causing them to shiver before you pulled away, any and all confidence you had dissipating that very moment. Unsure of their reaction, you bowed your head as they turned to face you once more. Their hands caressed your jaw reassuringly, raising your head to meet their eyes. Their features were relaxed, and any worry left your mind upon regarding them as they spoke in the timeless fashion you adored.
“You have served me well, Little Lamb. Allow me to return the favor.”
I've read a few people saying that Sunday smells like vanilla, but my personal hc is that he smells like chocolate with an underlying tone of sweet vanilla and strawberries 😭
Hello anon! I believe everyone has their own hcs, and theyre all equally valid haha. Vanilla sounds right, but you're also definitely onto something with chocolate and strawberries. I imagine it would be like a dark, rich chocolate scent... although im not sure how the scent of strawberries would fit in there. Maybe it would refreshingly cut through? Oh well, it's a pleasant hc. I'd say it could probably be due to his love for chocolate covered strawberries that he found out on valentine's day, (courtesy by you, of course). Chocolate is definitely not something i expected, but it's well within boundaries of it happening. Strawberries is cute... i imagine maybe otherwise Robin insisting Sunday try one of her perfumes, and he spritz it on from time to time when he misses her. Or maybe instead of valentines chocolate covered strawberries, they probably grew up loving chocolate and strawberries, so it might have been Sunday's signature scent for a while, until he had to tone it down for more professional public appearances. As for Robin.. the entire room would smell faintly of strawberries whenever she would probably walk in. Not sugary at all, if anything, you probably won't get enough of it. It's cute!
Im also one who stands for the vanilla headcanon, but at the same time i feel like it would be too sweet for his tastes. I was thinking some kind of perfume that's like.. liquid gold.. rich and expensive, but faint. Maybe even sandalwood? I bet he uses a very expensive sandalwood soap bar that just.. makes his entire shower emanate the scent after he's done.. but it's not a suffocating smell, it's pleasantly faint.
hii recently decided to seek out a signature scent through perfume samples n was wondering if i could get some reccs! i found that i really like autumn vibes by maison margiela and oud wood by tom ford … but both are way out of my budget. do you have any reccs for similar masculine-ish scents that are woody, warm, and a lil sweet? preferably under £100? thank u in advance love ur blog :)
warm, woody fragrances are my absolute favorite! i'll recommend some good cheaper fragrances to consider to the best of my ability :)
Tumblr media
nevermore by siren song elixirs!
this is peak fall, with a wonderful blend of warm woodsy fragrances but a more sweet marshmallow and pumpkin blend to pull it together. it's got a lot of cinnamon, but i don't think it's too overwhelming to the point of completely taking over the rest of the notes
only $25 for a whole bottle
Tumblr media Tumblr media
full dark by solstice scents
solstice scents are a bit more than some other indie fragrances ($90 for a bottle), but i do really stand by their work. full dark is a great darker halloween-y fragrance. it might not be as sweet as you'd like, but there is still some spicy sweetness that adds some more depth. i adore this one a lot, it has a lot of my favorite notes in it!
other solstice scents i would recommend checking out: estate rosewood, farmhouse in fall
Tumblr media
amore oudh by oakcha
since you mentioned enjoying oud wood, it might be worth checking out this $45 dupe of it! dupes are sometimes...controversial in the fragrance community, but that's mainly when they're dupes of smaller houses. i think dupes of big, expensive houses like tom ford are fine LOL
amore oudh is a pretty faithful adaption of the same fragrance for much cheaper. it might be a tad more synthetic-y in comparison, but overall it's one of the better dupes you can get out there
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oud noir by versace
not as sweet per say, but oud noir is a wonderful darker ambery spice oud-heavy fragrance. it's a classy "masculine" clean smell. its performance isn't perfect, but it is relatively cheap so applying some more throughout the day isn't as much of an issue
Tumblr media
marlowe by poesie perfume
i love some coriander with teak wood....this is a really good spicy floral woody fragrance. a good masculine warm smell for the colder months!
poesie's cardigan (sandalwood, cardamom, pimento berries, vanilla, white chocolate, "sweater" musk) is also a good consideration! it's a very cozy and comforting scent that's less spicy but still a good warm, cozy woody scent.
and, lastly, lovesick witchery has a looot to choose from that i think would suit what you're after! i'll just briefly list the top ones i think would work well, but i would recommend taking a peek at their full list of fragrances
seance perfume - lavender, oakmoss, incense, cedarood, sweater musk
spirit perfume - bourbon, tobacco, tonka bean, bay rum, sandalwood
dark bloom - gardenia, pink pepper, amber, black vanilla, datura, jasmine, cacao
erudite's parlor - tobacco, gin, musk
happy hunting!! i had a few more to recommend, but pretty much everything else i can think of is above $100 sadly. if you get the chance, i would highly recommend getting some samples from the scents of wood house! my favorite from them is cedar in acacia which is a delicious woody spicy fragrance
What Do The Sully Family Smell Like?
Tags: Headcanons, Sully Family Scents
Warnings: None
Characters: Jake, Neytiri, Kiri, Lo’ak, Neteyam
Signature scents of the Sully family/what I think they’re attributed with.
I thought it’d be kinda fun to write like unique scents they have and while this isn’t an x reader, it’d be kinda funny in a diff setting if idfk reader is like “neteyam do u use strawberry scented shampoo😲” or some shit LMAOAOA
* ˚ ✦ Read below the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
╭┈─────── ೄ࿐ ˊˎ-╰┈➤ ❝ [11/12/22] ❞
Jake Sully
Jake smells like Cinnamon.
For a spicy man, he gets a spicy scent fr
Nah but I feel like Jake smelling like Cinnamon is super comforting
He’s just got that super homely dad vibe
Cinnamon is spicy, sweet, and warm yet enticing all in one, which I feel like perfectly portrays Jake
Also, how cute would it be when his children snuggle up with him and get instantly calmed by his scent?? 😭😭
Like if Tuk can’t fall asleep it’s guaranteed she will if you put her in Jake’s arms OFHWFEGWEIJ
This is also biased because I love cinnamon. Fav scent for my fav sully 🙏
… … … … … . . ꒰ ♡ ꒱ ,,  ⌲˘͈ᵕ˘͈
Neytiri
Neytiri has an old earthy scent.
And I don’t mean like dirt, I mean the way flowers and aged trees smell.
She looks and smells like what you would expect of a Na’vi from the forest.
Similarly to her mate, Neytiri has a woody scent to her.
But ‘old earthy’ can encompass a lot of things.
Neytiri smells like the definition of what it means to be Omaticaya; grass, herbs, running water, a crisp breeze, you name it.
I like to think that wherever home is it’s with her, because she quite literally carries a part of it with her.
Her scent is also super comforting to the family.
Whenever the kids are missing the Omaticaya, cuddling with Neytiri is a way for them to relieve their homesickness.
As for Jake, Neytiri is simply a reminder of all the things he fell in love with when coming to Pandora.
Like the earthly scent she has to her, she really grounds everyone.
… … … … … . . ꒰ ♡ ꒱ ,,  ⌲˘͈ᵕ˘͈
Kiri
Kiri is deffo a sage girl 🤭
Like her scent, she’s strong and leaves an impression.
It’s herbaceous and woodsy like her parents, yet bitter.
Yknow, for her sass LMAO
Okay maybe I’m just giving everyone tree smells but like u can’t blame me 💀
I feel like Sage also really suits Kiri because you definitely often see it in the spiritual community
Kiri knows what herbs are good for healing, is deeply spiritual, and is strongly connected to Eywa
So I feel like it’s no brainer that Kiri would smell like sage, a scent that’s associated with spirituality, yk?
… … … … … . . ꒰ ♡ ꒱ ,,  ⌲˘͈ᵕ˘͈
Lo’ak
OOO HE’S A SANDALWOOD AND VANILLA BOY
A deep, woody scent like the rest of his family
But it’s also floral and balsamic, yknow?
Lo’ak’s vibe definitely matches his scent since it’s sweet and soft like him, but is also alluring and charming.
He’s a copy paste of his father so of course he smells pretty homely and comforting too
He has a very warm and saccharine scent to him, but the sandalwood is a deep contrast to show how his personality can also take on a wild form.
(I also just love vanilla)
… … … … … . . ꒰ ♡ ꒱ ,,  ⌲˘͈ᵕ˘͈
Neteyam
Neteyam exudes a scent of pine trees.
If Lo’ak’s scent has a vibe to it that’s a copy paste of his father, then Neteyam is a copy paste of his mother.
Literally just smells like home.
We all know that Neteyam is good with kids since he has siblings, and Tuk is the youngest.
If Neytiri’s not available to comfort her children after their relocation, you know Neteyam’s scent is the next best thing that soothes them.
He smells sharp, sweet, and refreshing, which I think is fairly accurate to Neteyam’s character.
Ok listen Jergens has a cherry almond lotion and I know they have a mist with it but. I need 👏🏼 a fine fragrance 👏🏼 to match it. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Also have you ever smelled Noire Tease by VS? They had it in 2016 and then discontinued it and that was my signature scent and I miss her 😭 don’t know if you know anything similar?
Happy prep day! Sending good vibes 💖
JERGENS CHERRY ALMOND IS MY OGGGGGGGG
Honestly I always have the mega bottle of that on hand. It’s the best lotion. My mom used it my whole life and my sister and I each picked up on it young. It’s my go to for post-shower lotions and night time.
BUT THEY HAVE A MIST FOR IT?? HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS ALSMKSSNMSSM
If you’ve tried any of target’s fin’ry line — they have a perfume version of “another cherry” that pairs *really* well with the Jergen’s lotion. Obviously it doesn’t have the almond note, but the extra cherry is so luscious. If you build on that with maybe a vanilla musk oil perfume, you should come close!
I hadn’t heard of noir tease until this ask. I never really got into the VS scents after middle school (so like 2008-2009 😭) but I regret it because I’ve heard their scents are wonderful?? It took me a minute to find the scent breakdown online since it was discontinued, so let me know if this sounds right:
Top notes: pear, litchi, red apple, mandarin orange
Middle notes: gardenia, jasmine, sweet pea, freesia, and magnolia
Base notes: vanilla, praline, amber, musk, sandalwood, and benzoin
The perfume was described as very sweet, fruity vanilla.
Before I do a rec list, please let me know if this sounds right!! I want to make sure I give you as accurate recs as possible 🤍
Hiii, good morning. Me again hehe I hope it's ok to ask and if not it's ok, feel free to ignore this but I have two questions.
First, what do Ro's smell like? What scent would you say identifies them?
Second, it's ok for us to make Fanarts of your characters? Would be ok to share it with you?
Obviously don't answer if you don't want to and take your time, have a nice day. ✨
Morning!! Well, evening here at this point haha, but the sentiment stands. And it's absolutely always okay to send questions; I love getting asks c: I would LOVE to get fanart, so it's definitely okay! You're welcome to share it with me, it would honestly make my day.
And as for scents, answers below the cut <3
Beck: probably has a specific perfume/cologne they wear, depending on the day. Something sharp and bracing. They also probably smell a bit like motor oil/exhaust, depending on how much time that day they spent on their motorcycle.
Croft: is very sensitive to different smells, so they're really quite picky about scented products. They typically prefer unscented stuff when they can find it, though they do have a fondness for lavender. Probably has a very clean smell, like a bar of soap.
M!Jay: definitely wears the same cologne his dad did. He probably stole the bottle from his parents' room after his dad died and has bought the exact same type ever since. It makes him feel closer to him. It's probably a pretty woody scent, like sandalwood and leather.
F!Jay: I think she also has a sort of 'signature scent'. She probably has a small collection of perfume she'll try out for special occasions but has one she wears on the daily she really likes. Just like M!Jay, it'd be something woody--like cedarwood and amber?
Perri: doesn't really wear perfume or cologne, I don't think. Super strong smells tend to irritate them a little bit. At the same time, they really enjoy sweet smells--particularly vanilla. I think they have a lotion that's, like, sugar cookie scented that they use frequently enough that the smell tends to stick.
Ravi: smells mostly like cigarette smoke...as well as a strong, wet-earth sort of smell. Like dirt after it's rained. It isn't unpleasant; it's a fairly clean, ozone-y scent...but it does linger. He'll wear cologne sometimes for funerals but not often. He usually forgets.
Yasmin: definitely has a lot of fun with perfume Old books have a very distinct scent and I think she hates leaving the library smelling like them, even if it isn't a smell that she dislikes on its own. She really enjoys citrus-y and floral scents, and doesn't really stick to one particular perfume. I do think she very frequently smells like coffee, as well.
assigning ronance signature scents
because i am obsessed with fragrance and this is kind of like my hidden talent and i want to use it on robin and nancy.
this is not historically accurate because i really am just out here having a silly goofy time, i mostly just use this as a resource in my fics and wanted to share!
nancy:
starting with my best girl because i actually have info to help me with this! during the filming of s1 natalia bought a vintage bottle of charlie blue (which i also bought, as an experiment) to wear and get into nancy’s headspace (it was literally awful. she made joe keery sneeze or cough according to the story). but to get to the point, charlie blue is a floral fragrance, leading me to pick two floral perfumes for nancy. more specifically, i picked “pure white linen” from estee lauder (left) and “sun moon and stars” from karl lagerfeld (right).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
not only do i think nancy would stick with florals, i also think she'd stick with name brands (like what you could find at macy's). charlie blue is a revlon perfume, so it led me to believe that while the wheelers have money, they aren't exactly spending it on something like fragrance that is just going to be drained. i also think karen may have bought nancy her first fragrance based on what she knew, because that's what her mother did, and nancy never bothered to venture out until she was older. "pure white linen" gives me daily use vibes, while "sun moon and stars" is more special occasions/dates. i also think she has a permanent lingering smell of ink and paper but that's not featured here.
robin:
oh robin. to the surprise of no one, these are a bit more gender-neutral to masculine than nancy's. when thinking about robin, i wanted things that were masculine, but still had a touch of softness and sweetness to it. fragrance has no gender, but a lot of masculine fragrances created in the 1980s were very masculine (think branding for men like GLACIER ICE FREEZE vs soft vanilla woods for women) so if she were to buy fragrance in the 1980s, i think she'd steal steve's cologne or spend five hours trying to pick a cologne that is slightly less overly masculine. that all being said, i picked 'skins x vilhelm' by vilhelm parfumerie (left) and 'ambre topkapi' by mdci parfums (right)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as you may notice, there's a lot of lavender, sandalwood, leather, and tea in these fragrances. that is completely on purpose, because i find that those pull especially gender neutral-masculine on a lot of people that is soooo appealing. they also don't flag incredibly masculine on first sniff, making it so most people can get away with wearing them and not smelling like a forty year old man named Tim that works a 9-5 and plays golf. the floral and spice notes work as countering pairings of each other but in the best way, and i could totally see robin wearing this in her full butch glory. also, the queer history of lavender is not to be ignored and robin certainly wouldn't ignore it. to me, i see robin wearing 'skins' on a more day-to-day basis, and 'ambre' as a special occasion/date thing.
anyway that's it! i love talking about fragrance and i don't think i've ever really talked about it here except for the coco chanel poll so PLEASE talk about it with me if you'd like.
Serenade my Senses
Tumblr media
Synopsis: How I think different characters smell like Fandoms: Hunter x Hunter, Death Note, HAIKYU!!, Jujutsu Kaisen, Tokyo Revengers
A/n: The amount of research I had to do for this fic...
Tumblr media
⁺ 𓋼𓍊 Earthy. 🌿
They smell earthy. Just like their warm and inviting demeanour; their fragrance is sensual, rich, elegant, timeless and grounded. Bathed in pine. Like the aroma of aftershave and shaving foams, soft and creamy. It gives a mature and domestic vibe like sweet moments spent with your family. Their signature has a faint essence of myrrh and sandalwood swirling around, the first image that comes to your mind is that of wood smoke, cedar sap, and burning leaves.
🌱 Light, DAICHI, Akaashi, Kita, USHIJIMA, DRAKEN, Inupi, Nanami, Illumi
. ⁺ Condimental 。 ⚔️
They smell exotic. Intoxicated and thrilling. It reminds you of an heir of an exotic country, away from the world. They remind you of satisfaction through messed-up goals and no care in the world. Just chasing the high of life. Their signature is aromatic in the sense of sprinkle of saffron, nutmeg and the finest of spices to exist. Leather, hookah and Tobacco; reek of adventure and authority. It's challenging and makes you scrunch your nose in intimidation and delight.
🦂 BAJI, Izana, Tendou, TERUSHIMA, Kyotani, Hisoka,
⁎ .࿓ Bouge ۫💳
They smell rich, of crisp dollars and metallic collectables. They smell of power, comfort and luxury. Like a bronze statue and old whiskey; daring and audacious. Their signature is a warm blend of Jasmine and imported whiskey, lingering with notes of brown sugar and patchouli. It's seductive and intoxicating in the sense that makes your mouth salivate.
⚜️ KOKONOI, Kisaki, Senju, TAKEOMI LEV, Rindou, CHROLLO, Megumi
‧₊˚ Saccharine. ☁️ ⋆
They smell incredibly sweet. Like freshly washed sheets on a summer afternoon, the scent envelops you into sleep, embracing you in its hold. The kind of scent that makes you want to bury your face in their clothes. It's tamed like freshly baked cookies and new books. Their signature scent holds the essence of vanilla, cherry blossom, amber and caramel. Like an intimate moment shared through fleeting time.
🍡 L, Near, KURAPIKA, Kite, Kenma, Osamu, SUGAWARA, Shinichiro, MITSUYA, Yuji, YUUTA, TOGE
꙳ Floral ₊﹒🥀
They smell of flowers. Like going cycling in a park, picking up pretty flowers and tucking it behind your ears. Like dusting your clothes when they are dirt-laden, only for you to get a whiff or a tangy and sharp scent only to realize it's not all soft-- it holds the value of walking through a musty wine cellar over a rose garden.
Their signature plays around with bright hits of lemon and raspberry tempering the flowery magnolia and violet notes.
🪷 CHIFUYU, KAZUTORA, Wakasa, BOKUTO, Nishinoya, Pakunoda, Leorio, GETOU, Junpei
˚ ⁎ ◜ Musk ▚ 🥃
They smell incredibly strong and masculine. Similar to Bouge, but much harsher. While bouge reeks of stability, Musk reeks of insanity, cigarettes, lipstick stains and bite marks. It is frenzy-like continental, but much wilder, brazen and savage. It reminds you of prestigious auctions yet at the same time of underground fighting rinks.
They stink of cigar blunts, faux leather, concentrated whiskey and gasoline with main notes of mint and cumin. It's the scent that makes your eyes roll to the back of your head in delight.
🏍 KUROO, SUNA, ATSUMU, Ukai, HANMA, TAIJU, RAN, SANZU TOJI, GOJO
same anon from last time. please tell me all you know about fragrances, it's really nice to read your thoughts about it and ive always wanted to know more, but didn't know where to start
Hell yes, class is officially in session. Welcome to Fragrance 101, hosted by yours truly, Mr. Christopher. I hope you remembered to bring a pen and a piece of paper.
To start, there are MANY ways of organizing scents, but the main 7 types that you'll usually see are Fruity, Floral, Woodsy, Gourmand, Citrus, Fresh, and Spicy. (Resins and Balsams are also important, but only a few are commonly used in popular perfumery.) These are the most basic categories used for sorting individual notes, for example: Caramel is a Gourmand note, Cinnamon is a Warm Spicy note, and Iris is a White Floral note.
There are roughly 14 types of broader 'scent categories,' consisting of Floral Oriental (iris, vanilla, rose), Soft Oriental (incense, amber, musk), Oriental (cinnamon, cloves, amber, resin), Woody Oriental (amber, sandalwood), Woody (cedar, sandalwood, patchouli, mahogany), Dry Woods (leather, tobacco, cedar), Aromatic (lavender, sage, rosemary), Citrus (lemon, bergamot, grapefruit), Aquatic (salt, sand, driftwood), Green (tea leaves, herbs), Fruity (berries, peach, lychee, its a long list), Floral (peony, lilac, ylang ylang), and Soft Floral (jasmine, tuberose, iris). Note the order of these categories! They all bleed into each other a little; something important to note when assessing the harmony of a fragrance.
Furthermore, fragrances are commonly sorted into seasons as well, useful when picking out a signature fragrance when the weather changes. Personally, i find it easiest to have the broad categories sorted into seasons when i'm picking out a fragrance for a person or a character, but these are entirely sorted by me: Green, Floral* and Soft Floral* are Spring notes; Citrus, Aquatic and Fruity* are Summer notes; Floral Oriental*, Woody Oriental and Woody are Autumn notes; Soft Oriental, Oriental, Mossy Woods, Dry Woods, and Aromatic are Winter notes. I tend to pick out seasons for people based on their preferred (or inferred) aesthetics and preferences, not the season they were born in, though of course you could do it that way.
*Fruity notes are used in nearly everything, but i personally associate that sweet tang with summer. Floral notes are also commonly used in fragrances regardless of their season.
There are multiple concentrations when it comes to fragrance, ranging from Eau Fraiche to Parfum. Each level of intensity is marked by a certain percentage of fragrance concentration; Eau Fraiche has 1-3% (lasts ~2 hours), Eau de Cologne has 2-4% (lasts ~3-4 hours), Eau de Toilette has 5-15% (lasts ~5 hours), Eau de Parfum has 15-20% (lasts ~6-8 hours), and Parfum, being the highest level of concentration, has 20-40% (lasts ~10-14 hours). The longevity of perfume also depends on your skin and how hydrated it is; perfume is alcohol based and will stick much better onto hydrated, lotioned skin.
Speaking of perfume depending on your skin, your skin chemistry can actually effect the way a fragrance smells on you. Some perfumes are marked as "not a safe blind buy," meaning that it tends to vary frequently on the wearers. My favorite example of this is Secretions Magnifiques, a REVOLTING fragrance that im obsessed with. (i wouldn't recommend looking at it if you have a sensitive stomach.)
Getting into brands is a whole other thing, so if you're interested in that, i would recommend visiting your local Macy's or Ulta and inquiring someone there about it. The culture behind individual fragrances is quite an interesting thing, at least to me it is.
I believe that just about covers the basics! Fragrantica is a wonderful (though somewhat limited) website to peruse through if you're interested in this kind of stuff :)
What is Egyptian musk?
I'll say this up top: I would love to hear if you have any experience with Egyptian musk oils before 1980 (e.g., "My grandmother wore it in the 1950s") or if you've seen any documentation on Egyptian musk blends after "Ancient Egypt" (e.g., "In my reading, I've seen formulas going back to the 1800s"). I ran into a distinct historical gap here, within the scope of, you know, a tumblr post.
For the sake of clarity, let's capitalize Egyptian Musk, the fragrance blend, to differentiate it from "any musk (often civet) originating in Egypt," which you can also get.
A long while back, I had started trying to read up on what different musks were supposed to smell like. Siberian musk and China musk and white musk and black musk and red musk and blue musk and, and, and. Being neurodivergent, I get further into the weeds than most people might, and so you got a 1200-word deep-dive on modern synthetic musk. But along the way, I discovered that Egyptian Musk is not a single musk note; it's a distinct blend unto itself, and pretty much botanical. And I love that. I love the idea of a fragrance that's just an alchemy of plants suggesting the shape of musk, an olfactory sleight of hand.
The one I tried
After comparing some reviews a few months back, I decided that I would probably like Kuumba Made's. If I had known I would end up writing about this, I would have gotten a sample of Nemat's as well, which is supposedly more of a "typical Egyptian Musk" with its patchouli note. (I've heard that Auric Blends' popular Egyptian Goddess [1993] is actually an Egyptian Musk as well.) I don't smell patchouli at all in the Kuumba Made—rather, it has "notes of fresh water [?] and sanctifying sandalwood.”
On me, it's the softest, snuggliest sort-of-rose scent. I love roses in person, but the scent usually doesn't work very well on my skin—and yet this Egyptian Musk does, and in fact, it's so well-blended that I'm not even sure exactly what's in it. The balance shifts every time I wear it: sometimes I get sandalwood, sometimes vetiver, but rarely both at the same time. But it's always lovely. The only reason it's not my ~Signature Scent~ is because I am, in fact, a basic vanilla bitch, but it's very soothing, and it is in my top five Frequently Worn Fragrances. I'm curious, though—what are those "fresh water" notes, what's in this? Here’s the Fragrantica note pyramid for the Kuumba Made Egyptian Musk:
Tumblr media
Ingredients:
Egypt
Musk
You see this a lot on Fragrantica note listings when Egyptian Musk is involved, like we're supposed to know what this is shorthand for—or maybe we're supposed to understand that it's a trade secret. Various sellers tend say theirs is a little different from everyone else's; user reviews will say, "I like this one more than that one; this one smells more like a traditional Egyptian Musk to me." What's our baseline here, though?
The ingredients of Egyptian Musk™
Amir Oud: A Brief History of Egyptian Musk Oils and Perfumes:
The typical Egyptian musk can be made from essential oils from home such as Frankincense, Myrrh, Cedarwood, Patchouli, Amber, Rose Petal, and Ambrette seed oil.  This will give you sort of an idea of the actual fragrance of the Egyptian musk.
You may remember ambrette/musk mallow/annual hibiscus as the natural source of ambrettolide, a major synthetic musk; thus, ambrette is the most literal "musk" component of a modern Egyptian Musk. That said, most of the literal Musk From Egypt I've seen on offer has been civet, synthetic or otherwise.
But in addition to those notes, more than one seller offers (word for word, capital for capital), "Musky Vetiver and Myrrh, blended with sensual Patchouli and a hint of Rose," leaving out many of the other components. I'm not sure what's going on with the copypasta there (it's possible they're buying from a wholesale supplier who uses that description). But I'm 99% certain vetiver is in the Kuumba Made too, so let's consider that a typical ingredient as well.
The most complex formula I saw agrees with Amir Oud's, but this Zindoki.com version adds jasmine, "one drop of camphor," labdanum (you remember labdanum from amber accords), and "a deer musk or civet"—our Musk From Egypt. The Zindoki page also has the simplest characterization I saw: patchouli, rose, ambrette.
The various formulas I saw also had different proportions—some heavier on the rose and patchouli, some heavier on the frankincense and myrrh—and so, you can imagine how different one blend might smell from another. And that's before you start adding citrus top notes to fill out the pyramid, as some brands do. Nonetheless! A certain personality is taking shape.
And a number of articles and sellers claim that this personality is "Cleopatra." Allegedly, this was her favorite perfume. Which... I'm going to argue, no. Arguing literally, in a separate post that I am writing: the soft, subtle profile we're talking about here just does not match the pungent, spicy fragrances that historians and archaelogists are uncovering. In fact, Elena Vosnaki, who has written more about musk than I ever have or ever will in her multi-part musk series (NSFW photography), says,
Simply put, Egyptian musk does not originate in Egypt, but is simply a variant of a musk blend in which the clean, scrubbed-skin nuance is the dominant part.
And this is where I have to turn around and argue in the other direction. I get the general idea—Egyptian Musk belongs in a "soft and clean" category of scents, I'll agree with that. But it has a more specific character than just "a variant" of white dryer-sheet musk ("The laundry day feel is there"). I also think a blend with this cohesive a character, this widely used, had to come from somewhere, at some time. I'm just not sure when or where.
Where in spacetime does Egyptian Musk come from?
Short answer: As a traditional blend somewhere between today and Ancient Egypt? I don't know.
Long answer: As you would buy it today? New York in the 1980s.
Back to the Musk Series:
Famous examples in [modern] use include the perennial Narciso For Her, where the fractialised patchouli (keeping the cleaner aspects) and the synthetic white flowers are highlighted by the clean muskiness of the base and smoothed out by a recent amber molecule, Amberlyn, and a hint of honey. The Cuban born designer was inspired by an Egyptian musk oil he used to buy in New York City along his friend and muse Caroline Bessette-Kennedy. (It turns out it was Abdul Kareem's Egyptian Musk).
Now we're getting somewhere:
"I used to buy the stuff from head shops or sidewalk vendors in Harvard Square. About seven-odd years ago, I found a variation (by Abdul Kareem, which, the internet tells me, is an ’80s NYC-born scented-oil brand)"
According to Makeup Alley users, as of three years ago, you could buy the genuine article from an ebay seller (look at the Olfactoria review), but I don't see a Charlotte Vale now. There's only one listing at all, in fact, and Etsy searches don't seem to yield genuine Abdul Kareem results. That said, you might still be able to buy it in person; a number of users on Fragrantica and Makeup Alley mention buying Egyptian musk oils from shops and sidewalk vendors like the ones Fiorella Valdesolo mentions in the article—years ago, but you never know.
Now, what's interesting about the 1980s part is this:
Bargz: A Guide To Egyptian Musk And Egyptian Musk Products:
In the 1880s, scientist Albert Bauer discovered synthetic-derived fragrances that resemble musk ingredients. This synthetic approach gave way to laws in 1979 that protected musk deer and other animals from being hunted.
I don't know who came up with what first, and what tradition may or may not have existed before 1980s NYC. But my guess is that Egyptian Musk shifted from Musk From Egypt With Additional Notes, Maybe, to our muskless frankincense-myrrh-patchouli-rose-ambrette sleight of hand today because of that ban, specifically. I don't know if Abdul Kareem was the first or simply the most popular, but that brand seems to have become the standard, the way that Coty's Chypre gave a name to an entire family of bergamot-labdanum-oakmoss fragrances.
Perfumes inspired by Egyptian Musk
And, much the way that Mitsouko was a peach-infused riff on Coty's Chypre, other fragrances have built off Abdul Kareem's Egyptian Musk in particular. Let's go back to that mention of Narciso Rodriguez. Apparently both Narciso Rodriguez For Her (creators: Christine Nagel and Francis Kurkdjian) (yes, that Francis Kurkdijan) and Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely (Clement Gavarry and Laurent Le Guernec) are inspired by Egyptian Musk. I actually have samples of both of these—the NR For Her is a fresh decant, and the Lovely is, uh, from my random mall sample box. Hope it aged well!
This post is certainly long enough already, so I'll update on those later. But I can say, I've worn the Narciso Rodriguez twice and I do get a similarity.
assigning scents/perfumes to muses is sort of my niche but boy this one is hard... for nick, i feel like it'd something light and fresh like jo malone's wood sage and sea salt (it smells like the ocean to me).
for jordan, i picture something unisex like bleu de chanel, which is quite a warm, woodsy scent - sandalwood with notes of amber.
for lucas, i know he's probably not using anything fancy but IF he was, tom ford's tobacco vanille, which has the warmth and woodsy notes of tobacco and ginger and light hints of vanilla. but i know in reality it's probably like axe body spray. hopefully a nice one though.
for olivia, i feel like something really floral and femme like chanel's chance eau tendre is really fitting. it's quite jasmine and rose forward, with citrusy notes of grapefruit.
gonna print this out and hang it up on my wall bc i love it so much???? my perfume knowledge is so limited so i’m so fascinated by this!!!
i highly agree with all of them, i think i could also see nick using something with hints of citrus in it as well bc he loves smelling fresh (especially after exercising) !!!!
i am sad to say that lucas does in fact use axe but he does not care enough to have a signature scent (in fact, he probably mixes it up often so he Doesn’t have a recognizable scent).
what do you think my muse smells like? | always accepting !
90’s Fragrances, Day 7: Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male EDT (1995) and Classique EDT (1993)
For the last day of my 90's fragrances week, I chose an absolute icon, celebrating her 30th birthday this year. For a twist, I decided to layer with her male counterpart, who launched a couple of years later. I think you'd struggle to find someone who hasn't seen or heard of these fragrances and their many limited edition bottle designs and spin-off scents, Jean Paul Gaultier definitely took the fragrance world by storm when he released these. I've said this before, but this was one of the first 'real' fragrances I ever bought myself as a teenager, back before it was even called "Classique". I had the deodorant spray in the sculpted body casing, miniatures that hung from a silver necklace, limited edition summer releases...I was obsessed with the bottle design and the imagery in the ads with those pierced nails, which I also replicated! I actually had to stop wearing the perfume in my early 20's as I became oddly allergic to it, but seem to be able to wear it again now. For reference, the photo above shows miniature dab-ons, but today I wore a spray Classique with the dab-on Le Male.
Le Male is an Amber Fougere fragrance for men, from 1995 by Francis Kurkdjian. Top notes are lavender, mint, cardamom, bergamot and artemisia. It has middle notes of cinnamon, orange blossom and caraway with vanilla, tonka bean, amber, sandalwood and cedar in the base. Classique is an Amber Floral fragrance for women from 1993 by Jacques Cavallier. Top notes are orange blossom, star anise, rose, mandarin orange, pear and bergamot. In the middle you'll find ylang-ylang, ginger, orchid, tuberose, iris and plum with base notes of vanilla, amber, musk, cinnamon and sandalwood.
This fragrance combination definitely changed throughout the day, but there was an overall soapiness, much more prevalent than usual. I know LM can remind people of a barber shop style smell and having not worn it before (my Dad has worn it for years though, so I'm familiar with the scent on him), I'm not sure if the layering enhanced this or it would always smell like that on me. I never normally pick up on the mint, a scent I happen to love, though I'm yet to like it in a fragrance, but I definitely detected a cool feeling from the top notes without smelling mint, which I found interesting. C always has a lot going on and yes, on it's own it is soapy, a bit powdery but not like Boudoir yesterday.
The star anise I think is what I'm not so fond of and sometimes this fragrance can be overbearing on me and headache inducing, so I don't wear it much these days. Ask my Uni friends my signature scent (from late 90's-early 00's) and they'd all yell, "JPG" without hesitation! I even sprayed it all over a bus going to Edinburgh after a girl (not with us) barfed all over the floor and the smell of sick makes me feel sick, so needs must...ahh the memories. Anyway, powerhouse in terms of staying power, especially given these are EDT's. Still very strong 8 hours later and sillage has been pretty present throughout the day. My 90's fragrance week just wouldn't have been complete without this. Oh and I'm very much looking forward to Gaultier Divine launching next month, my love for JPG perfumes has been reignited this past couple of years, so always keen to check out a newbie.
What r ur favorite fragrances that you don’t wear yourself/men’s fragrances/honorable mentions?
Ooh, thank you for asking!! I love fragrance so much (<- stating the obvious)
I really like Coty Stetson as a men's fragrance. It's the cologne my dad wears so I have a lot of fond memories of it, but I also genuinely think it's a nice alternative to the really aggressive, sharp scents that seem to be the go-to for men these days. It has notes of lavender, bergamot, cedar, carnation, honey, clary sage, and vetiver. (It's almost unisex, so I've definitely stolen from my dad a couple times to add some edge to a very feminine outfit.) I have very few opinions on men's cologne in general as a lesbian, but this one is a banger and a classic.
As far as perfumes I love but don't wear, the first thing that comes to mind is YSL Black Opium (orange blossom, pink pepper, bitter almond, vanilla, jasmine, cashmere). It's my cousin's signature scent and it's absolutely lovely, it always makes me think of her. We've been the best of friends since we were in diapers and anytime I miss her, I sniff a sample bottle of Black Opium. It's something I'd wear, but it would feel weird if I did, that's "her scent".
+ Honorable Mentions
Victoria's Secret Crème Cloud: This is a fairly simple scent, but very sweet and pretty. I always spray this on my robe and pajamas and now I can Pavlov myself into relaxation with it. It's like a little hug in a bottle: vanilla, meringue, sandalwood, amber, and musk.
Red Deer Grove Fetish: Generally I'm not the kind of person who wears spicy perfumes, but if I'm going to it's this one. It stays very soft and rounded with dragon's blood, bay rum, cinnamon, musk, sandalwood, amber, clove, tobacco, vanilla, cream, oakmoss. I have given this Etsy shop so much of my money and I never regret it.
Chanel No. 5: Listen, this is a classic for a reason. I only bust this one out for special occasions because my bottle was a gift from my mom for my 16th birthday. I'm twenty-two now and I've only used half the bottle because it deserves to be savored. It's not for everyone, but just like Shalimar, I really enjoy "mature" scents. I fell in love with white florals and musk because of this perfume. Theoretically the notes are aldehydes, bergamot, neroli, lily of the valley, jasmine, iris, civet, vetiver, and musk, but it just smells like Chanel No. 5 to me.
Andromeda's Curse The Moon: Another Etsy shop that owns my ass. I would like to be controversial yet brave and say that the most underutilized notes in perfume these days are powder and HEAVY florals because people are afraid of them, but I absolutely adore both and that's the focal point of this perfume. It's so heady and sharp in exactly the way love with honeysuckle, gardenia, lily, milk, powder, and honey.
On top of regular perfume, I also have a kind of "scent library" with indie fragrance that I use to channel certain moods for art or writing (a dab on the wrist or in an essential oil warmer). They aren't as wearable as the others, but I love them. These are my favorites:
Andromeda's Curse Black Phillip: animal musk, butter, straw, old wood
Andromeda's Curse Haunted Conservatory: wet soil, orchid, white lily, musk, rot, crushed vegetation
Strange South Baby Shoes: milk, powder, cut grass, gasoline, damp earth
Strange South Space Dust: hot metal, stone, cold air
