I wonder how my life would be if i was one of those girls in cargo shorts and a zelda shirt constantly on my 3ds in middle school instead of wearing hand me down old navy and watching warrior cats maps in the living room alone for 5 hours a day

playing albw world and boy. did i miss the maiamais
#best loz collectable. fuck you i get item upgrades for finding these chirpy little dudes#salty talks#it is fun to play albw and see some ideas that were likely expanded upon in botw but that i honestly think work better as albw prototypes#if that makes sense. like the semi-freedom of having nearly ever tool available at the start#but only in a partial (rented) sense and costing money and even missing a tool until you do the thieves den#and only buyable after a certain point and with other traversal and w/e being out of reach for a bit#like the flippers and the two glove types and then ofc the optional item upgrades tied to the maiamai quest#and the dungeons are all so incredibly unique and even tho u can get their required item whenever that item is still. required#and in every (iirc) lorule dungeon theres that other major item to collect like a better tunic some ore the gloves yknow#the energy boost as a semi upgrade to the wall merge ability. and that ability being extremely well used across rhe whole game#albw fucks i can see it has concepts that were taken and expanded for botw but i might prefer what albw does#also the maiamais r rlly cute. theyre really good. i rlly like how you have to use a good handful of different tools to collect them#albw is really good idk why i waited so long to replay it. tbh it feels the most similar to what loz 1 was doing#the whole world is open to you and so are the items but you still need to get them and youre free to do the dungeons in any order#you just need the right stuff to get there and do them. ily albw

For any OC you feel like!
Pencil, paintbrush, Copics, graphite, pastels, palette, and creative!
Ohohoh an OC randomizer round! Sweet :D
I've already gotten some of these for a specific OC of mine, so I'll just answer them for another if that's the case. I'm most likely to stick with my LoZ OCs FYI, since they are most on my mind right now :D
Writer/OC meme source
__
Pencil- Does this character have any “sketchy” habits? Have they ever broken the law? Do they regret it?
Answering this one for Link and Aryll's father, Arwel...
Arwel's biggest vice is that he often treats sword/spear/bow training with his son Link like it's a real battle. There's an inherent intensity to their spars that... should any neighbors or family members happen to notice... one might very well think they were trying to kill each other. They're not, of course- he loves his son very much- but especially after Link pulls the Master Sword, there's a part of him that almost becomes fixated on the challenge of training the "perfect hero," to the point that he's not always thinking of what's best for his teen child. I'd call that pretty "sketchy," lol. Training your child in the art of swordplay is one thing, but Arwel's training style is bordering on "child boot camp" at times. Of course, he's also a father caught in an incredibly unusual situation... having to raise a boy who's been chosen as this era's hero, having to grapple with the reality that he very well MAY die in the oncoming Calamity, desperate to train him well enough that maybe... just maybe... he'll find a way to win and survive.
Given the time period and the fact that this training is officially mandated by the royal family, it's not illegal- but it does border on the edge of child endangerment.
I feel like Arwel regrets his methods on the few occasions that Link is hurt as a result of it, but not enough to soften his approach. He worries that anything less than these methods won't properly prepare Link for the horrors ahead.
On a lighter note, I feel like Arwel probably got arrested for public indecency after drinking too much in his early twenties. That's about the only official scrape with the law he's dealt with.
Paintbrush- How often does your character “brush over” conflict instead of facing it head on? Is there something specific they don’t like to face, or do they avoid conflict as a whole?
Answering this one for Link and Aryll's mother, Kelra...
Kelra is most definitely a "break inwards" sort of person. She is capable of addressing emotional conflict head on to an extent, but should the weight of said conflict grow too heavy and personal to bear she will fall to despair. Specifically, one of the largest struggles she failed to address or face for many years was her husband's sudden death- she slipped into a deep, almost catatonic depression for a long time, and was only able to push her way through thanks to the support of her daughter and mother, and others in their community.
When her husband was still alive, she served as like... an emotional anchor to him, though. Arwel was always the more "hard, cold logic" fueled one, and he very often benefited from her perspective in times where his actions could easily shake the foundations of their family... whether that be related to a job position, the education/discipline of their children, or... later on... Calamity related matters. She had no qualms against overtly telling him when she thought his stance was flawed. It's this level of transparency in their relationship that allowed them to have a strong marriage for the years they were together.
Copics- What is this character’s most expensive habit or hobby? Do they ever feel guilty about the money they spend on it?
Answering for Kelra- she quite likes woodworking. She doesn't get to engage with this hobby too often just due to having low spoons, but over the years she's constructed a whole set of wooden chimes much like the sort that hang across the streets in Kakariko. It cost a good deal of money to source quality wood for this project. She's also made her own hunting bows, using traditional Sheikah techniques passed down through her father's side of the family.
She doesn't feel shame for spending money on this, as the stipend the royal treasury provides to her husband for his duties to the crown is more than enough to pay for the essentials. (They continue to pay out this stipend after he dies, too.) She uses the extra money earned from her cheese making business to pay for this hobby.
Graphite- What’s something decently common that your character does in a unique or different way? (like how graphite is present in all pencils, but not everyone uses pure graphite)
Answering for Aryll!
This was actually a really hard question to find an answer for. Ultimately, I decided to pick a detail that's more focused on like... one of the things Aryll considers normal that has since phased out of fashion 100 years beyond the Calamity.
And that lil detail is... the fact that surnames for Hylians are incredibly rare now. There's gonna be some scenes coming up in the fic where Aryll starts inquiring about her mother... trying to find information on what happened to her after the Calamity... and she'll use her surname (Haywood), hoping it might help other pinpoint who's she's talking about. But the thing is, after the loss of such a huge chunk of Hyrule's population, the necessity of surnames to differentiate between people has dropped significantly. You'll more often see folks refer to another as "Reede of Hateno Village" than use a surname. There's some who still have them for sentimental purposes, but they're not as necessary for census reasons as they used to be.
(Non-Hylian denizens of Hyrule rarely used surnames to begin with. The one exception is the Gerudo, some who still use them for ceremonial purposes.)
Just for fun, Aryll and Link's full names in my headcanons-
Aryll Jae Haywood
Link Ordonia Haywood
Jae was the name of one of their great-great grandmothers on their mother's side, and Ordonia was a middle name that had been passed down along the men for centuries on end on their father's side.
Pastels- Give me three colors that best represent your OC. Now give me three colors that your OC likes best. Is there an overlap?
Answering for Kelra-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wanted to give her one color in common with Aryll, and chose the shade of red for that! Like Aryll, her mixed heritage is very important to her- and this red, significant to both the Hylian and Sheikah crests- represents that importance.
The cool olive green is representative of her connection with the natural world around her (she's basically as close as you get to a farmer in a city! She keeps goats and cucoos, is the hunter and horse girl of her family, loves to spend time outside... etc etc.) and also her cool, quieter demeanor. It felt like a really grounding color, which is the sort of presence she brings to her family.
The golden yellow... amusingly enough... I mostly chose because so much of her character revolves around cheese, ahahahahah. But also, I feel like I associate her design with a lot of gold embellishments, plus her husband and Link's hair is closer to this sort of darker blonde.
Palette- List four of your character’s primary skills, then share at least two ways these skills might blend or overlap
Answering for Aryll-
She's a decent navigator for her age, having good understanding of topography and local landmarks. If she can align herself with a landmark she recognizes and the directionality of the sun, she can pretty quickly figure out what directions north, west, south, and east are in, and approximately how far she is from the nearest town.
She's got a creative side. Mostly she's content to sketch with graphite, but she's been playing around with stone carving as well. Her portraiture isn't like... super detailed, but her doodles are stylized enough that one can generally recognize the people she's drawing.
She has a strong set of knowledge about medicinal herbs... which ones can be mixed for beneficial effects, which ones could be mistaken for poisonous plants and need to be carefully identified, and how best to prepare a few types of basic ointments and elixirs. This knowledge comes from her mother, who raised a few species of medicinal herbs in their backyard.
Whether Link likes it or not, Aryll ends up taking to the basic footwork of Gerudo swordplay techniques very quickly. It's a skill that she continues to nurture as she grows older.
I think the navigation and drawing skills have a natural overlap- Aryll could probably make a basic but useable map if she or Link ever needed one. I also feel like the medicinal herb and navigation have a potential overlap... certain herbs are bound to have specific growing regions, of course. Over time, I bet Aryll has to keep in mind which ones are easiest to find where, and backtrack to certain landmarks to find those clearings where those herbs grow again.
Creative- Free space! Share something you’ve been dying to share about your writing! Could be an OC that never gets the limelight, a moment you were proud of, or anything else you’d like to share.
This has already started to crop up a few times in what I've posted with my Aryll longfic, but a detail I haven't seen anyone notice yet-
Aryll refers to her father as "Papa" in her internal narration, but refers to her mother as the slightly more formal "Mother." This is pointing towards how Aryll's internal image of her deceased father is locked in the past, in a time when she was still calling her parents "Papa and Mama." But she's grown up with her mother ever since, and had to mature so much faster after her father's death out of sheer necessity, so the way she refers to Mother matured along with everything else.

Finished Breath of the Wild and I wanted to give my fair judgement to it now that I’ve finished the main game experience.
It’s a VERY good game. I can easily see why it got 10/10s and made everyone’s top games of all time lists. Frankly, it deserves it.
When you’re new to the game, it’s very confusing. There’s a lot the game tells you, and a lot it hides away. When I voiced this frustration to myself, I realized a LOT of LoZ games are like that. You have objectives, sure, but a lot of the time you’ll be flailing at the wind to accomplish them. You’ll even end up facing roadblocks that require significant back tracking to figure out. But Breath of the Wild isn’t like that. Mostly. As far as I’m aware nobody really told me how to cook and I wish they had. Same with expanding inventory slots…
But as a result of your desire to just explore on your way to the four kingdoms on the map, you end up figuring out this game’s tricks and also take a beautifully smooth power curve from “oh shit that has a boss health meter” to “everything now dies”. Except Lynels, you really don’t want to fuck with them. Even in end game.
Its attitude towards the end game is also spectacular and one I hope more games follow. As the game points out, you CAN go to the final dungeon and fight the final boss immediately after you get the ability to glide down to Hyrule. You don’t want to, but you can. And, even better, if you’re thinking you should avoid it at all costs, BAM, several NPCs GIVE you quests that involve sneaking into the place! Meaning that even though you’re weak as shit and a stiff breeze will eviscerate you, you can totally go into death world, get a cool powerful sword, and just use that to smooth out some of those “no money” lumps early game sacks you with.
Then, when you come back to Hyrule Castle for the showdown, you can tackle it in ANY way you want. It takes minutes to scale it with Revali’s Gale, but you can also use Zora Armor, climb up the sides, sneak through the tunnels… so many ways!! Like that’s the freedom I want. Give me an obstacle to overcome, an objective to reach, and then give me a jungle gym to make it there. People should not only learn from this Castle, they should strive to make their big dungeons to be like it.
By the end I was satisfied, and felt really engaged in a rather interesting take on the Zelda format and storytelling. It’s still not my favorite LoZ title, but it’s easily up there. Ultimately what holds it back is the fact that it really is just too big. If the game was half the size and as crammed with things to do, I think I would have enjoyed it more. But that’s what it comes down to, personal preferences.
There’s still a lot left in the game I haven’t seen, but like Mario Odyssey, I think I saw enough to have a good time.

So, here is an introduction to the first Sim in the legacy. I loosely based her off of Zelda from "LoZ: Tears of the Kingdom" and I think I did pretty good in terms of the facial features. I'm not that great at recreating characters in the Sims, but this is what I've got. Yes, there is a better hair color option to match Zelda's hair but I fucking hate that hair color in the Sims. I also don't have all the Sims packs so I just used what I have to the best of my abilities.
Anyways, here is Anna Greene. Her aspiration in life is to be an archeology scholar, and as a result she has the quick learner trait. I also gave her the genius, creative and good traits. Her chosen profession is scientist. I considered politician for this game, but I felt that scientist was more of the Tears of the Kingdom Zelda vibe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The following is what she started out with. Yes, I did make sure that her funds were cheated to be 1800 simoleons BEFORE getting this setup situated. The cost of this cut her down to less than 500 simoleons. In case y'all were wondering what's up with the random bush: it can be used as a toilet. I later got her a meditation pillow cause lady is stressed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways, Anna spent most of her day digging for gems and hunting for frogs. The Goths did pay her a visit, which was quite lovely! They got along really well. Due to the three of them sharing some traits, Anna's relationship with them quickly turned friendly. Granted, she did piss off Mortimer Goth by taking a bath at his house. Aside from that little embarrassing situation, Anna played a lovely game of chess with Bella Goth. She didn't get introduced to their two children formally, but I'm sure they will get along fine.
Anna later learned there was a shower at her workplace... so she'll be using that instead. While at work she received a call from Mortimer asking about Geoffrey Landgrab. Anna knows that the Landgrabs just aren't the vibe, so she told Mortimer to avoid Geoffrey. He was smart enough to listen, thanfully.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most of Anna's following days consisted of doing her absolute best to maintain a high performance at work, since she really needs the money. It didn't take her long to get promoted not just once, but twice. She gets along well with most of her co-workers, but alas there will always be at least one that brings the drama... and in Anna's workplace, that person is Eliza Pancakes. They simply don't mesh well. Anna is humble, and Eliza... not so much. They have quickly started going down the enemies route.
Overall things are going good for young Anna. She's making friends with the Goths, enemies with Eliza and is quickly progressing in her career. I'll end this with a poll, just because I like seeing what y'all think.
I suppose this will be the post I use to make a megathread on my Sims 4 legacy save file. I'll reblog with updates as I go, so stay tuned for the drama I guess. I made the Sims lifespans long and each season 1 week.
The absolute basics of the legacy challenge are as follows:
• Start with 1 young adult Sim
• Start on an empty lot (choose carefully, because you cannot move any of the family heirs from the home per challenge rules)
• Start with only 1800 simoleons (this is one of the few times you may use cheats)
• You can only use the anti-aging cream once per generation
• You cannot restart or go back to the last save if a major loss or sudden event causes complications
Of course there are more rules but this is just to give y'all a general idea on what I'm working with. Essentially, the legacy goes on for 10 generations. I added some extra rules for myself, as follows:
• We love matriarchy in this household, so the heir must be the firstborn daughter unless the current head of family does not have a daughter
• To add onto the difficulty, the head of household cannot have more than three children at once (this includes adopted children- so the head of household could both adopt and have bio kids, but still cannot have more than 3 kids at once)
- As a side note, only exception to this is if they somehow have twins or triplets after already having 2 kids
• If the head of household has hit their limit on the number of children and still does not have a daughter, then the firstborn in general gets to be heir (unless they die, let's be real the Sims like to play dirty so who knows what's gonna happen)
Will update every now and then as I go. Let's see what happens.

I’m kinda getting back into legend of Zelda (or at least the music side of things cause it’s relaxing and I don’t really have access to playing the games) and everytime I hear the song of storms I am reminded of the time my brother was trying to learn it on the piano and like, pretty much as soon as he finished playing the song, no joke, lightning struck our house

Ranking of the richest Links
As the title state here is a look who theoretically is the richest Link. To lay some ground rules, I’ll be blending both in game and canon/fanon lore, I’ll also be using their in-game largest wallet size to make it a bit more fun!
Wind
In the game-universe Wind’s wallet size goes up to a whooping 5,000 rupees. In Phantom Hourglass and (if you count it) Spirit Tracks it goes up to 9,999 (there no wallet upgrade, it’s same mechanic as botw). Soooo yeah compared to other games this is impressive. He also is or at least friends with pirates sooooo you know he would be doing alright. Will say he does have a rupee armour (in the HD remake and it only takes rupees after you get hit) and is one of the few games where you have to spend a bit of cash to finish the game (triforce maps), so idk truthful his wallet either be overflowing or have nothing in it, there will be no in-between.
Time
In-game he has like the smallest wallet size. It only goes up to 500 rupees. Will say in Majora’s Mask he has a bank account which can carry up to 5,499 rupees, which mean he is canonical the only Link with a bank account and it is in a town where it’s still debated whether or not it’s real soooooo yeah.
At least he has the farm with Malon and that seems to be doing very well! (I mean in OOT the milk is being delivered to the castle on the regular and Ganondorf wanted to buy Epona sooo you know their produces are on the map).
Sky
So in-game universe he has one of the bigger wallet upgrades. To a whopping 9,000 so he doing pretty well. He also was studying to become a knight which seems like a comfortable government job so overall he achieving a very stabled life-style so good job Sky!
Hyrule
So due to the limitations of the NES the ‘wallet’ size in the original Loz game is 255 rupees. But in a twist in Zelda Two: Adventure of Link um there is no rupees. Everything done through magic, but still there no legal currency which kinda scares me. But also make it incredibly funny that Hyrule has the least knowledgeable when it come to um any financial concepts. Idk feels like people should use this knowledge more, mainly cause it hilarious but also can see him getting mad at anything costing more than like hundred rupees. Without a doubt he is the poorest Link (but the richest with magic ;) also his Hyrule probably doesn’t have taxes so you know it’s all good).
Warriors
Same concept as Phantom Hourglass and BOTW there isn’t a wallet size. It is also very easy to obtain rupees. But if it like AOC then a lot of that money is getting spend pretty quickly. (Can you tell I haven’t played Hyrule Warriors). In-universe Warriors is a captain so that’s not a bad job financially. But it is war time soooo most of that money would be used to maintain an army. Idk he probably be getting a good bottle of scotch to wash down the regrets, you also know that after the war there would be a huge economic boom soooo he has that to look forward to.
Legend
Funny enough, the games are quite consistent when it come to wallet sizes. In most games it’s 999 rupees. The only exceptions is ALBW where it 9,999 rupees. (If you count Tri Force Heros, the grand total is 99,999 rupees). Either way he has one of the bigger wallet sizes and in-universe he owns a house and inherited a apple orchid from his uncle so he could potentially could have a very comfortable life. Also one of the only Link to use different currencies.
Four
In-game Minish Cap the wallet upgrades go up to 999 rupees but in both four swords games the wallet sizes goes up to 9,999 rupees. So comparable very average. In-universe he one of the only links with an actual job, so again like Sky he be living a very good life. Also friends with the princess so you know he has someone on the inside with the government side of things (although you could say that about all the Links).
Twilight
Ok half of the reason I made this list was to complain about Twilight princess wallet progression, so I’m quickly going to complain about it.
In the original games, the biggest wallet size was 1,000 rupees which seems like at least an average wallet size but I’m sure that you are well aware is that this game has one the only other instance of the rupee armour. This armour will dry you wallet in matter of minutes. But in the remake they did change it to 2,000 rupees which is better but why they didn’t just do 5,000 will continue to baffle me. Also with the remake they included this new cave of ordeals, called cave of shadows. (It’s basically a enemies rush mode) One of the prizes at the end is a 99,999 wallet which is very good. But you need an amiibo to have access to the cave sooo um something something shady business practices.
So because of this I’m going to change my rules and not include it, mainly cause I think it’s funny that he has a small wallet size. But also Twilight is a simple farm boy he doesn’t need that much money (I mean in the original release you put the rupees back if your wallet was full which is kinda show where his priorities are). So yeah simple country boy, he has a bit rainy day money but that it.
Wild
Ok it kinda scares me with how much money you can get. In BOTW you don’t get wallet upgrades (again similar to Phantom Hourglass) but the max total is...999,999 rupees.
Completely out doing the other Links. Now most players won’t actually reach 999,999 rupees but idk about you but when I played my grand total was in the hundred of thousands sooo. One downside is because of inflation and the massive amount of rupees, everything is kinda expensive, but then again you can sneeze rupees in that game so you still tend to have a bit left over. Not to mention other minerals and resources, like again it’s very easy to get rubies and sapphires ect. Good job Link for diversifying that assets pool!
Conclusion;
- Wild is the richest no further questions
- Hyrule has the most basic understanding of currencies, I’m assuming the black market trade is really big in his Hyrule.
- The rest are doing alright, expect Twilight and Time who have the more modest wallet sizes.
- And not one of them has a bank account.
(Ok except Time, but it’s a joint account with Malon)
Maybe I should do the taxation of the different Hyrules next...

Average Pokemon Fan be like:
"[Insert pokemon which its design is pretty interesting] is the laziest pokemon's design ever!" + "Tandemaus is the best pokemon's design ever" (it's just two white vinylmation and the shiny version is the same)
"[Insert pokemon game] is the beginning of a new era. Things are going to get better, you'll see!"
"Am I going to buy the duo version at 140€, which means I will have the two versions of the same game, where only the principal color change, the gender of the professor, and some pokemon? Yes, yes I will." (bro, this is like each game cost 70€ when you can buy them for 45€ at some places, pls stop)
"This game may have some issues, BUT we have emotes and all npc have different look this time! That's revolutionary!" (Let's ignore that those things have been in other videos games for years)
"I have no issue paying 60€ for this game, I think it's fair." (the same price than LOZ: Breath of the Wild, which none of the last pokemon games can measure up to)
"Having some bugs at the release date is part of the normal procedure for video games, stop complaining! I have play [Insert game made by a company not even close to be as rich as the Pokemon Company] and I had fun, and it's well-known for its bugs!"
"You should buy the new pokemon game. If you ignore [the bugs, the low quality models, the 3fps characters in the background, the clashes between high resolution textures and low quality ones, and others], it's a great game!"
"[Insert more excuses for the multimillionaire Pokemon Company giving people not even half-finished and polished games and still making more money each year]"

I've been toying with this gigantic Ariel body and horse head for a couple days now. And I think I must admit that I don't like this size. She's just too big. I like how the parts look together and I'm satisfied with the body sculpt. But she's so dang huge. It would cost a bunch in apoxie alone to do her neck, so I'm not sure that I'll sink any more money into her. Still chewing it over.
Spent a happy hour last night just window shopping for fun things to use as object heads. I'd love to use a claw machine! But the smallest ones are still too big imo. They'd work on this Ariel! But nope, deciding against that. Lots of beautiful fun colorful toys out there to consider though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left: LOZ mini block crane machine
Right: Alarm clock claw machine (19x12x12cm)
These reminded me of Shopkins Secret Shops that I think oak23 considered a while back. But I think there was another line of tiny house or shop toys at Target maybe last year? That were really similar but I cannot for the life of me remember what they were. I feel like they were packaged in clear domes. Maybe with a viewfinder type window? Can't remember any more if I'm confusing them with the Shopkins. Anyway they were really colorful and I wish I had got one back then.

Alright, I think i’m done BOTW 2 spamming for today. Anywho, time for some thoughts in general!
1) I hated how the shrines in BOTW were so cold and dark compared to the bright and lively nature outside (I wish they had all looked like the Master Trials challenge where there were trees and stuff incorporated inside), so I hope if we’re forced to have dungeons they’ll be more like the Wind Waker ones. 2) I hope they don’t make us use the grappling hook or anything like in Wind Waker to move around the sky islands (I hated that mechanic). 3) I’m probably one of the few people who wanted less Zelda and more of the Champions in HWAOC since i’m only really attached to BOTW (and we saw a fair amount of Tetra in Wind Waker)/apparently Zelda’s been sidelined in all the other games, so i’m hoping in vain that we get more Champions material in BOTW 2. Also, Link could stand to have some more cutscenes centered around him as well (the few we got in some of the sidequests in BOTW were great). 4) I only really somewhat care about Riju and Sidon, so I won’t mind if the new gang gets sidelined in BOTW 2 (I still think Nintendo wasted the found family/band of brothers aspect on the dead characters--I love them so much and they’re all I want!! The problem is, they’re dead and I don’t really care all that much about their replacements!!! I dunno, maybe i’m hampered by the fact that I can replay the original champions’ memories whenever I want/read their diaries, but I can’t rewatch the new gang’s cutscenes AKA i’ve forgotten their characterization since they don’t talk to me much now that the game’s over). It’d be great if they have some weaving storylines in BOTW 2 that will get me more invested in them, but currently i’m not that interested. 5) Speaking of which, I know it’s 100% not going to happen, but goddang if I don’t want the Champions to have been returned to life. Nintendo totally squandered HWAOC by not making it a true prequel/canon to BOTW (the Champions Ballad confirmed that the Divine Beasts had trials in order to be synced to the champs, so the new gen use of them wouldn’t have happened without that + Mipha thought Link had changed in BOTW yet says in HWAOC that he hasn’t changed + some scenes like “Champion Revali’s Song” never happened at all/got replaced with alternative scenes that really changed some dynamics + basically all of Revali’s time-relative characterization from his diary/pre-100 years of solitude got thrown out + I feel like Daruk got totally sidelined), so i’m still craving that Champions content. Also, I feel like it’s totally unfair that Zelda came out of 100 years totally unaged while everyone else died. Life seems to really suck for people in the LoZ universe who aren’t chosen by divine powers. 6) They’d better keep it open world and non-linear. I can’t go back to being forced to backtrack/trudge through things, I just can’t. BOTW was everything i’ve ever dreamed about in a game (truly open world + non-linear + interactive + meaningful story + lots of outfits + beautiful landscapes) with Skyrim previously being the only thing that came close to what I wanted, so I really hope BOTW 2 doesn’t deviate too much from that. 7) I really liked Kass in BOTW, but i’m not sure what direction they’d go with him in BOTW 2/i’d be fine if he sat BOTW 2 out. I worked so hard to complete all his quests in BOTW so he’d go back home to his family, GODDANGIT, KASS. 8) Someone mentioned that since the first trailer had underground aspects, we’re probably going to be playing as Zelda with the Slate there, and I agree. They didn’t make a playable model for her in HWAOC for nothing. 9) I want to be able to stable the deer and bears and stuff, but I know that won’t happen. Being able to ride the moose and rhino things from the Hebra area probably won’t happen either, but I want to ride them!!! 10) I hope there’ll be at least a few new buildings and stuff in the towns/they’ve started construction on some areas in Central Hyrule, but I guess that’ll depend on how long it’s been in-universe since BOTW. Or maybe not, considering how there’s still Karson and Hudson even though Bolson retired from Bolson Construction--insta-towns like Tarrey Town could totally be feasible if they wanted! 11) I have one foot in the camp that believes there’ll be time shenanigans in BOTW 2. HWAOC totally threw me off with it being an alternate timeline, so i’m not sure whether we’re going to be experiencing that again or time travel itself, but I definitely won’t be surprised this time around if Nintendo goes that route again (and it would be super interesting to see the Link from 10,000 years ago). I’m not entirely convinced that the Link we see exploring the sky in the second trailer isn’t our Link, mainly because he seems to still have on the blue boxers from BOTW. 12) I also heard that maybe this will be the last LoZ game ever since something something Demise something Skyward Sword something something lore from games i’ve only vaguely looked into (i’ve only ever played BOTW --> Wind Waker --> HWAOC)??? If so, it kind of sucks that I came in just when they started making games with playstyles palatable to me (I had to look up every single thing when playing Wind Waker, but BOTW let me solve things according to MY logic/I missed being able to explore in HWAOC), but at least it’ll end on a super high note/I won’t experience later disappointment, I guess. If BOTW 2 involves breaking the reincarnation cycle for the Triforcers, I would be really surprised. (On a related note, Nintendo making Ganondorf good would also be a 100% shock to me, but it would be great to end on that as a subversion. Yes, I want them to bring back the semi-complicated Ganondorf from Wind Waker.) 13) I hope they don’t rush releasing it. I heard they pushed back BOTW originally (I got it in 2019), but it came out fantastic for it! I know COVID’s been affecting things, so I really hope they’re treating their staff right and are mindful of crunch. 14) I want even more outfits (there seem to be at least two new ones, if the variant of the Hylian Tunic crossed with Link’s Champion’s Tunic counts). Give me all the outfits!!! Also, I hope we get even more hair variations in addition to the hair down option (which is all i’ve ever wanted since I saw the mod that altered the Ancient Helmet). 15) I wonder if we’re going to get a bonus for having both BOTW and HWAOC save data. 16) I wonder if we’re going to be keeping the Champions’ skills. I’m going to miss being super overpowered, if not. 17) I hope Nintendo doesn’t cave in and make surfaces climbable in the rain. Having that limiter is more realistic and Link would otherwise be too overpowered with a super climbing ability. 18) I liked BOTW’s scattered music that got more noticeable in populated areas because it was fitting for the post-apocalyptical/nature aspect. Hearing your footsteps in an open field and the buzzing of insects was super nice and prevented me from getting music fatigue (which i’d probably experience since whenever I play BOTW it’s for 5-10 hours at a time). I hope Nintendo either keeps that or makes audio options. 19) I heard that BOTW 2 is going to be super dark or something, and i’m okay with dark, but not GRIMdark, so I hope it doesn’t go that far. From what we’ve seen in the second trailer it still looks beautiful, but I hope it doesn’t do that thing that some games do where after the midpoint/a certain story point all the scenery permanently changes to be dark and scary (that’ll seriously hamper post-game playability for me if so). 20) If they expand on the Zonai, that would be super cool! Doubly cool if the time travel shenanigans involve them/ancient Link being one! 21) I kind of want windstorms to be a weather feature. We had lightning, heat, and cold, but no wind! No, I don’t count the wind geysers and the occasional breeze in Tabantha. 22) I want a chest in my house to hold more weapons than just the gear mounts. BOTW only had enough mounts for the champions’ gear, but it also had rare items like the Kite Shield and Forest Dweller’s Sword that you can’t get anymore once you use them up! 23) I want to be able to stable my horses at my house. What’s the point of that little area if you can’t stable your horse there! 24) Speaking of Link’s house: where is Zelda going to live? If the castle’s not reconstructed, it’d be neat if Link adds an extension to his house for her. 25) I hope they open up part-time jobs (think Mabinogi) as an option to earn rupees. Having to hunt for Luminous Stone deposits or feed Trott to make money can be such a chore. I think some of BOTW’s minigames/sidequests might count as those, but those minigames were either frustrating if your goal is to earn money (since most of them cost money to play in the first place and the mechanics weren’t always easy), or didn’t earn that much in general. 26) I wonder if Kilton is going to have updated items since the monsters seem to have changed. 27) I want to be able to dive underwater (mainly so I can explore the beautiful reefs over at Lurelin). A dive meter like the one from Super Mario Sunshine would be cool. Also, it’d doubly be neat if you had a separate stamina wheel for swimming and could permanently upgrade your swim/diving stamina (the speed+ swimming items just consumed your stamina faster, which was a pain)! 28) It’s definitely too late for this, but it’s a shame that the Hylians have so many face/body/hair and outfit variations, but the Zora, Rito, and Gorons don’t. The Gerudo were kind of okay with the hair and body variations, but the other races seemed to have a serious copy-paste problem. I guess technically some of the more important NPCs (ones with quests/cutscene triggers) had different coloring, but they were severely lacking in clothing variation. Also, the only old Rito was the elder??? At least the Gorons and Zora had some old folks besides their leader walking around. Very weird, but I don’t think BOTW 2 can fix any of this. 29) I wonder how they’re going to do the final boss battle, considering how epic/cinematic the BOTW 2x battle was. What can top fighting (on horseback, no less) a giant, flaming boar made out of malice? 30) I wonder what the Yiga are going to be up to, considering how Ganondorf seems to be somewhat kicking in BOTW 2.
