४ don't talk about me like you might know how i feel . // @rxvonna
Tumblr media
they can finally, for the first time since being dragged into the TVA, feel their magic humming just beneath the surface of their skin. they’ve felt for far too long that it was just out of reach. something they could brush their fingers against but never quite grasp onto. now, despite their powers returning to them they don’t embrace them. palms outstretched but that’s all it was. a gesture for her to calm down. to take a moment.
after all they were seemingly on the same side. they wanted the same thing. but her overwhelming desire for power was threatening to consume her just like the threat of the timelines combusting could consume them all. chaos that needs order. order that doesn’t see the need for chaos. they were two sides of the same coin. one in the same.
❝         believe it or not i have been where you are standing now.     ❞
oh, it’s almost hilariously cliche to say this again. it hadn’t worked for sylvie but here they were again.
❝          fear. the feeling of being powerless so you need to grasp for whatever control you can find. death and destruction — all of it. i’ve done this. it doesn’t work.     ❞  their voice wavers, not because it is a lie coming unraveled. but because it is the truth. and that is even harder to believe.
❝         we all want the same thing — myself. mobius. we want the tva to be stable. and we need timely to do it.      ❞             now, they’re using their body to protect the man huddled behind him. magic just at the edges of their fingers but they don’t call it to a snark just yet. no. there was still some time to talk. not much, not with the way the TVA groans in its very bones — ghastly like a dying beast. heaving through its last, desperate breaths.
❝          we can do this. together.      ❞

me: so u see apollo's objection theme starts out with the melody following the same beat as the rhythm track in the background, unlike phoenix's objection themes, which are all very distinctively syncopated all the way through. but as apollo's theme progresses the melody gradually gets more out of sync with the background rhythm track. this shows that while phoenix's style is unconventional and "off-beat" from the start, apollo starts out trying to do his job by the book but eventually finds that the most effective way to seek justice is to be a little unconventional and not just follow the beaten track because u can't win by following the rules in a broken system. do u understand. he's finding his voice. making himself heard against the background. it's symbolism

i still can't believe that "you should read comic books in the comic book fandom" is somehow some kind of spicy hot take tbh. comics are cool and some of them have my best friend superman in them. and if that's not enough they even have lois lane. what's not clicking

Perhaps a Hot Take: I don't have anything against JayVik as a ship, but the amount of people in the fandom who use it as an opportunity to be openly racist and misogynistic towards Mel and Sky, and to feminize/infantilize Viktor as a disabled man make it REALLY hard to enjoy

I haven't thought much about Jonathan Sims for long enough that I kinda feel like I've started thinking about him a little more divorced of the emotional attachment I might have had once. Because I just saw a post lamenting his slow descent into inhumanity and losing his identity, becoming the archivist rather than Jonathan Sims, losing his friends, his house, everything he loves.
But is that true? That put upon head archivist persona he had in the beginning, was that really him? The way I see it, real life has already leached him of any identity he might have had, he didn't really have friends, Tim and Sasha clearly weren't, as we saw in their season 5 recording. He chose to make them his subordinates over beib friends, pushed away Georgie, he became so desperate for approval that he agreed to take a job he clearly has no idea how to do, let his stress over it isolate him from everyone around him, had a desperate need to assert himself in the beginning of every recording as 'head archivist of the Magnus institute london'. Forget about even having a home, he often slept in his office for heaven's sake.
The way I see it, this story is about him finding himself, finding the perfect place for himself in this already doomed world that was already strangling him and everyone around him. He became the Archivist, no longer needing to connect himself to some godforsaken capitalistic institute to identify himself. found his role, he enjoyed its power, even admitted to it. He found love. He found purpose in trying to save the world. In the end he was surrounded with the friends he made along the way (as friendly as they could be under the circumstances). He was finally allowed to make real choices, have true responsibility over himself and not be some tired corporate worker, part of a tired pointless system. Sure his choices weren't that great, and getting there was through outside manipulation and his own ignorance and he had to suffer immensely and pay an awful price of what we like to call his "humanity" but he Became and found what we all look for - his calling.
"It's still me" he says in the last episode. Because he is. He lost nothing and gained everything. Even dying in his lover's arms.
Forget about being human. In the end Jon achieves apotheosis and truly becomes Jonathan Sims

very interesting how even the sister closest to sua seems to perpetuate the cruel and harsh environment under nigeh's ownership. we've seen before from sua's interaction with the other pets that they tend to use harsh language and behave in a rather hostile manner to those they deem unworthy. although sua's older sister is considerably less rude than the others, she still refers to sua with terms such as "stupid idiot" (albeit said with some affection).
nigeh's status as a model and influencer means that they treat beauty and perfection as priority. as their pets are held to this unfairly high standard, they internalize it and begin to enforce it onto others in an attempt to regain control in any way they can. casually derogatory language and hostile behavior might be something that's normalized amongst the humans under nigeh's care. this can result in an extremely cruel environment where the humans either view each other as competition or pity those who they deem weak (a projection of their own internal issues). either way, it's difficult to form any connections that are completely free of underlying negativity.
sua has been shown to have extremely low self-esteem, and as more of her home environment is revealed it becomes increasingly clear that it has contributed to her negative self-image. as a child she was bullied, pushed around and outright told that she was unworthy of her mother's love (which was conditional to begin with). even her closest sister refers to her affectionately as a stupid idiot, already assuming that someone as weak as her won't make it very far. it's unsurprising then that sua reacts so quickly and strongly to something as simple as her classmate commenting on her physical appearance (even though it was meant to be a compliment), immediately assuming it to be an insult.
It's also unsurprising that sua grew to love mizi so much. it's been stated quite a few times that mizi's love is pure and free of any falsehood, much unlike the nature of sua's home. she found solace in mizi's genuine love and optimism, something that she never got to see while growing up.

This is the interview the one person talked about with Mama Hughes calling Quinn a mama's boy. (he agreed but you can see he is embarrassed)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MsdLCyvT8I
ELLEN NOT THE RASH COMMENT HDKSJJFKB
no but quinn knew what she was gonna say bc the way he was like “yeah, it’s okay” and jack was so quick to tell her to say the first one on her mind, because he also knew
am i crazy if i say this just makes me love him even more? because i know for a fact this isn’t one of those weird mother son relationships, it’s simply quinn just loving his mom and wanting her comfort bc she’s the only person that can make him feel like he’s the one being taken care of since he’s the oldest and likely always feels like he has to take care of his brothers 🥺

i love when terumob makes a guest appearance in a ritshou fic because most of the time its like they descend from the heavens as the older, more mature couple to bestow advice to the poor foolish children. while in every terumob fic ever theyre the most romantically inept fools ever who cant catch a break at all

Hey guys so do we want to talk about how Lila’s entire thing is that she lies and yet the biggest lie this season isn’t coming from her... but from Marinette.
How Lila and Marinette match each other intellectually, which Marinette herself says while fighting Lila (‘unlike the other Hawkmoth you’re actually clever!’). How Marinette has always fought against Lila’s lies but is now perpetuating one herself that will probably turn out to be one of the most (unintentionally-don't attack my daughter) harmful ones in the show- and its to Adrien- one of the only people who didn't initially fall for Lila's lies.
How the thing- the lie that is going to break Adrien this season, that will guiltrip him over his final confrontation with his father, make him hate himself for not being there for the final battle, and make him feel the weight of a thousand revelations and implications and betrayal once revealed, comes not from the villain known for lying... but from Marinette.
There is something to be said about villains paralleling the hero, and BOY is this season going to be one of the most heartbreaking and craziest examples of it yet.

Once Marcia & Two-Bit start dating and Marcia learns enough sign she'll see the gang cursing out Socs when she's hanging out with her Soc friends and snicker to herself and they'll beg her to tell them what they're saying but she NEVER snitches. Half the time when the Socs get their panties in a twist over it the gang aren't even taunting them, they're just talking to each other in the vicinity of a Soc.
When Marcia figures this out she starts REALLY playing into it. Like, she'll see some of the guys she's hanging out with glaring over at the gang and she'll snicker or slap a hand over her mouth, just fake any type of reaction, and they’ll interrogate her to try and get her to tell them what they said and every time she's just like "oh no I can't repeat it, it's like, morally reprehensible, I would never say that out loud" "oh no, no, it's nothing, it's nothing!" "I'm not comfortable with repeating it, it's like, really really bad" etc etc etc and the boys will LOSE their shit. And it turns out it was just Pony enthusiastically telling Soda, Two, and Johnny about something that happened in the book he's reading.
Two thinks it's the funniest thing ever and gets the gang in on it, so then whenever they notice some Socs glaring daggers at them they'll play up their normal conversations to make it seem like they're saying the most vulgar shit ever. And it's just Soda talking about a stray cat that showed up at the DX the other day.

"Oh no, someone's attracted to the aesthetics of my -punk movement but doesn't know the praxis and history behind it like I do--"
OK. Tell them. Make it a teaching moment. Everyone who's in your movement learned the background from somewhere at some point, maybe this is that point for that person. Give them a jumping off point that they can dive into later.
"Oh but I shouldn't be responsible for teaching baby -punks about the history and the how-tos and--"
OK. Then don't tell them. You don't have to be responsible for teaching people with a budding interest in your group the ins and outs and how-tos. That's fair and valid! It can be a lot of work. Someone else will handle it
"But I'm annoyed that they would try to claim to be part of/be interested in my community without knowing all the details that I know after being in it for months/years/decades, they're dumb, they're posers, they're--"
OK. Then don't engage with them, if it's that bad. Maybe someone else will come around and tell them the history, maybe they'll pick it up on their own, maybe they'll just enjoy the fashion elements for awhile.
"But they shouldn't claim to be part of the -punk community if they don't know the--"
I feel like we have a few options here. People can either talk to them, share the history, share the values, share the praxis. Or they can just chase off anyone who even thinks about dipping a toe in their community, and then wonder why it's dying off later down the line.
I dunno, maybe I'm too naive and patient or whatever. But if people are entering your -punk spaces without knowing The Rundown of what you feel they need to know, maybe being nice about it and informing people instead of immediately assuming stupidity and malicious intent could help you make a new friend. Even the loudest voices in a space had to learn from somewhere, and not everyone has the luxury of being in the space as the History was Happening--whether it's an age thing or a not being aware of the space thing. Or maybe I just don't see what the big deal is behind people hating people who like the aesthetic of something and don't know the behind the scenes history about it yet.
Because I believe in the word 'yet.' No one comes into this world knowing everything about everything, and we're all constantly learning new things. I'm not gonna degrade someone and call them a poser for not knowing what I know. Because if it were me, interested in a scene but getting chased out and called a poser? I wouldn't hit the books and study up, I'd go 'that fuckin sucks, those people sucked' and then avoid anyone and anything having to do with it.
So chase people off and call them posers if you want. But if your community starts dwindling, don't be fucking shocked.
