Just the whole idea that you get back at vegans for being "annoying" by killing the powerless beings we're advocating for instead of actually taking your frustrations out on us, the people you're frustrated with. Do you feel good? Are you fulfilled? Do you feel like you've scored some points? What a big man, taking your anger towards other people out on beings that literally can't fight back instead of out on the people who can. Does celebrating the power you have over animals give you a thrill? Are you taking this 'victory' to the bedroom tonight?
#mine#vegan#veganism#there's something deeply deeply sick about this phenomenon#and it's insane to me that the leftists who take part in this actually have themselves convinced it's praxis#as if this isn't word for word what every red blooded midwestern conservative does when they see tofu on a menu#if you want to actually fight us then fight us instead of using a powerless animal as a proxy#I need you to understand that you are symbolically printing out a picture of us and taping it to a cow to shoot the picture#this doesn't hurt us that's not actually us#it only proves our point about how fucked up the commodity status of animals is

I think the essence of what drives me crazy about current Enlightened Online Leftist Discourse Regarding My Life Personally And Whether This Time Killing Me Is Morally Correct (as in, commentary about the latest episode in i/p violence) is this:
I want a free Palestine.
I don't personally know a lot of people that don't! They might bristle at the tagline, because it's co-opted by people who do in fact want them dead, but as soon as I lay out why it's in literally everyone's best interest, how a non-free Palestine is horrific both to the people of Israel and to the people of Palestine, how pragmatically ridiculous the occupation of the west bank and the siege upon Gaza are (and I am a very pragmatic person), they get it. And I don't mean I debate people online about it - this, too, is a ridiculous concept - I mean having, time and time again, the deradicalization conversation with my friends, and colleagues, and my family. Obviously not only now - I've always been a very principled and argumentative Jew, ever since I became an adult - and I've been alive for, I don't know, a dozen flashpoints and operations and wars at this point, and I don't stop being argumentative and loud in peacetime either, but especially now.
But that's not what "from the river to the sea" means.
When you, gentle soul from across the sea, echo this slogan, you are either:
By apathy or will, ignoring that the sentiment cheers for the mass expulsion and killing of Jews. Indeed, any non-Muslim present from the river to the sea. This doesn't even begin to cover how even Muslim arabs still will not be safe under Hamas rule - and trust me, I don't care if a Hamas apologist told you different. A victory for Hamas (And we're ignoring the fact they do not have the military capacity for it - I hope you are aware of the privilege inherent to not understanding military conflicts) means exactly that. No "rule by the people". No socialistic, Palestinian utopia to be had, which is a fantasy I'm seeing alluded to a lot recently. Just an extension of the horrific power structure in Lebanon and Syria, where Hezbollah - friends and allies to Hamas - have been playing a tango for decades of both refusing to participate in actual government and betterment of civilian lives, while still draining their resources and controlling them with no real contest. "From the river to the sea" is not a sentiment for freedom fighting - it's a sentiment for a final solution to the people living here who are either Jewish, or for some Very Strange And Weird Reason would rather not submit to Hamas rule. You know - Israeli Arabs, secular and Muslim and Christian, Druze, Circassians, Bahai, take your pick. Their suffering, and my suffering - you know, a person who made the strategic error of being born in Israel while Jewish, which is inherently problematic and not okay of me - don't matter to you. Just the fantasy of an easy, morally correct cleanse of the land.
Are well aware of all of the above! You just don't care. You either smugly chuckle that I, and anybody else who will die, deserve it - or that it's an acceptable loss for the aforementioned fantasy. "Decolonization is an inherently violent process", you'll say to me, chillingly, before implying I have a summer home in Brooklyn I can just retreat to when things get tough. Israel is basically Rhodesia, a very popular blog here mentioned flippantly, so what's the issue with all of those lily-white Jews fucking off back home before the righteous freedom fighters strike them down? Well. This might be the part I urge you to open a book, or even Wikipedia or any god damn thing that will explain to you these upsetting, dense things you clearly struggle with.
It's easy for me to discount islamophobes. Like, very easy. It's very easy for me to discount insane evangelistics who "advocate for me" simply because I'm a pawn in their religious rapture. It's easy for me to fight against Israeli and Jewish fascists - I have been long before this news item came across your feed, as did the insinuations that some civilian deaths are okay, actually.
It's easy for me for me to see promotions for donations to non-political aid in Gaza. It's easy for me to see the sentiment that hey! Palestinians deserve safe, healthy lives. That they have deserved an independent state, and were unfairly denied one, for decades. It's easy for me to see people saying "You know, the Israeli government is shit, actually, and their actions endanger and promote to the misery of innocents". Because that's right! I wouldn't be voting and protesting and donating for all of these sentiments otherwise!
It's not easy for me to see people, who I honestly held in high regard and saw having well thought out opinions on important matters, inadvertently echo the sentiment that my death is acceptable. That a terrorist organization, who rule over their own territory with fear and violence, are righteous freedom fighters, vox populi, only out to establish a free state. Like hey, their manifesto said otherwise, so it must be all there is - right? That Jews are just hysterical, they can easily live elsewhere - ever since that nasty holocaust business everything's fine abroad. Besides, it was just so long ago who even cares stop talking about it. Hamas, Hezbollah, ISIS, the Ayatollahs in Iran, the fucking Islamic Jihad - are not interested in freedom. They aren't, and echoing their slogan tells me you are either ignoring that, or support them anyway. If antisemitic rhetoric, half truths and lies by omission work on you today, they would have in any period of time. I'm sorry this makes you uncomfortable. I'm not, not really.
So finally:
Know what your fucking words mean. Have a cursory glance at the history of the MENA and why it's so fucked, one that doesn't boil down to "The Jews, with American help, rolled into where they don't belong". This isn't even a joke. I've seen this braindead, history-revising sentiment repeated so many times, both online and in actual textbooks, that I feel I'm going insane. So many well-meaning people handwringing and assuring each other that repeating genocidal slogans is fine, that calling the i/p conflict "a simple problem" (which means it has a simple solution, right? Just kill the Jews.) is a well-adjusted and intellectual take. That "only the Zionists should die! The rest will be fine :)" I dare you to say that and also give me a correct definition of what Zionism is. Why I, a Jew that advocates for Palestinian statehood and rights and safety and always have, won't also face the wall in your little fantasy.
Freedom to Palestine. Peace in the middle east, fucking yesterday.
A curse and a plague on those who don't want either of those, and just want to cheer on the death of "the other side".
A curse and a plague upon you, when you tell me, smugly, from somewhere safe and far away, "from the river to the sea".
#selfpost#long post#i/p#israel#palestine#antisemitism#antizionism#I pondered linking every word of every claim I make to sources like Reuters and what have you#but honestly? Please just read actual sources#don't get your news off fucking Twitter and state owned media like AJ#my respect for “critical thinking” online leftists is already at an all time low

"More important question, why are liberals triggered by The Sound of Freedom?"
As a liberal, there are 5 main reasons I personally don't like the film.
Highly fictionalized. While based on a real story it takes dozens of liberties in telling it. Many of the events in the film did not happen in real life as they are shown happening in the film. The movie seems to care more about entertaining than it does about telling its story accurately.
Bad acting. This is an objective point, but the film is just not very good in my opinion.
Its inaccurateness harms its goal. By not depicting the story as it actually occurred, it's giving the public a false idea of what CST (child sex trafficking) is like, and misrepresenting issues like this is never a good thing. The film harms its own goal by misrepresenting the issue it aims to bring awareness to.
Other's did it better. There are plenty of other non fictionalized documentaries that have told stories like this way better than the Sound of Freedom does, and the Sound of Freedom is taking eyes away from better media that did what it wanted to do but better.
It's fueling Qanon quacks. There are people out there that believe some absolutely insane stuff, and they're using this film as proof to back up their insane beliefs. Those people think that the fact that CST is real is proof that Trump was fighting some secret cabal and other nonsensical stories.
TDLR: It's highly fictionalized with bad acting that misinforms people and misrepresents CST, while also drawing eyes away from other films that did what it tried to do but better, and it's making crazy people even more crazy.
Thanks for trying to give some actual reasons. They're all bad reasons that aren't even a little bit true but at least you tried.
"Highly fictionalized. While based on a real story it takes dozens of liberties in telling it. Many of the events in the film did not happen in real life as they are shown happening in the film."
Hey quick question - have you seen the film? What do you know about the actual story it's based on? Maybe this is news to you but for most people it's common knowledge that when a film is made based on a real story, movies always take some liberties and fictionalize parts of it for dramatic effect. It doesn't make a bad film or speak against it unless it is so wrong it equates to lying. But leftists seem to completely forgotten that movies do that when it comes to The Sound of Freedom.
Please, do tell exactly what they fictionalized and why it's bad enough that leftists are coming out in droves to discourage people from watching it (even though not a single one of them have seen it).
"Bad acting. This is an objective point, but the film is just not very good in my opinion."
Bad acting is never an objective point. Again, have you seen the film? If you don't like the acting that's fine. A lot of people think the acting was very good. I thought the acting was fine. Not great. But fine. I've seen movies with better acting but I've also seen movies with worse acting. So not liking the acting is hardly a reason to be speaking against this film so much.
"Its inaccurateness harms its goal. By not depicting the story as it actually occurred, it's giving the public a false idea of what CST (child sex trafficking) is like, and misrepresenting issues like this is never a good thing."
So at this point I'm pretty sure you haven't seen it. You're just repeating what you've heard by people who haven't watched it. That's a very vague claim. Please give me very specific examples from the film that you think gives a false idea of child sex trafficking and why it's harmful. Because I don't think you actually know much about this issue and you're just following the mob.
"Other's did it better. There are plenty of other non fictionalized documentaries that have told stories like this way better than the Sound of Freedom does, and the Sound of Freedom is taking eyes away from better media that did what it wanted to do but better."
What are other movies you think did it better? You can promote those films without attacking The Sound of Freedom. The Sound of Freedom did it very well and you've failed to prove otherwise.
"It's fueling Qanon quacks. There are people out there that believe some absolutely insane stuff, and they're using this film as proof to back up their insane beliefs."
lmao ok this is proof you're just listening to propaganda and don't know anything about the movie. Please give examples you have seen of this as well. The movie has nothing to do with Qanon and even if it did why the hell are you more concerned about a non-issue like Qanon than child trafficking?
It's really weird that this is the movie you'll are choosing to wage war against.

re: last reblog - saw a TikTok ad the other day of a zoomer lifestyle peddler visually coded as a Nonbinary Dirtbag Leftist (dyed ratty hair, conspicuous piercings, cheap punk clothing) attempting to sell me an ebook about how to elevate my class position by buying a turnkey business like a laundromat.
so, exploiting the poor. and I mean they aren't wrong, that's how you get class mobile. I don't think it's actually possible to run a business like that ethically and still make a profit. maybe I'm wrong. but it seems like every bit of the profit is extracted from a dependence upon the poverty of the clientele, eg, lack of access to home laundry, charging greater than cost for time, water, soap and cleanliness which are all human rights, hiring employees at minimum wage, etc. the entire basis of charging money for such an amenity is a process of creating waste also, it creates waste in travel from home to the Laundromat, it creates waste in putting a laundromat in a storefront where housing could be, it creates waste in handling money and bills for a business that isnt essential etc etc. and it's an economic coercion because clean clothes aren't something you can budget or cut down on, you basically have your clientele by the balls.
on the other hand I'm rapidly approaching a grinding surface in terms of either entering into one of these exploitative processes as a means-of-production owner, which would be accomplished purely through debt on my part, or having to withdraw to permanent poverty, and the third option is winning the lottery either literally or figuratively through an unforeseen inheritance, sudden recovery from illness, or getting popular on social media in a way that produces profit
I think the anarcho syndicalists are broadly correct in that small organization is the correct move, eg, I'm about to lead test my apartment water supply and do some other moves that I expect to use to lower my rent, but the bigger project would be to contact the other tenants and see if they'd be interested in essential a "hostile" acquisition of the building based on having it fail a bunch of inspections, which I absolutely think is possible.
I could see using a small syndicate of partners/friends to collectively purchase the laundromat as a co-op. but would the profit splitting make it not worthwhile? maybe we would recoup from not having to hire any employees and just taking the shifts ourselves. this is the classic American immigrant model and it's a classic for a reason. I would really hate trying to do all that horizontal organizing though (huge cost for me personally)
idk how any of those stuff works. my parents are from the managerial-intellegentsia officer class and are stupid about money from a weird combination of having too much of it and too little. the overeducated poor. food insecure people who get all the jokes on Frasier. extraordinarily weird class position, it's sort of like being in the circus or being a pickpocket. you can fool people into thinking you're wealthy when you aren't, which is why I'm so insane on here about grammar and spelling, because you don't know until you're actually on the other side of it how much your level of education affects your material existence, even if the education is DIY. I have been literally homeless for periods of time and have almost always been poor, and the amount of "skating by" you can do on good grammar and nice table manners is like a big secret no one tells you anymore because the boomers pretended they got rid of all that jive during the summer of love. people have gotten REALLY mad at me on here about this topic I think because they think I'm enforcing these cultural standards every time I try to teach people about them. I'm trying to warn you!!
think of it this way: how long is someone willing to let you stay in their coffee shop or diner or house if you're "acting poor", vs how long if you're charming and helpful and conscientious? if you're loud and using "low class" dialect vs if someone has at some point taught you to act fancy? this is extremely racialized obviously. I can't speak on that.
the communist coin op laundry could have a shuttle service and group wash nights where people can combine laundry to use the big washers and dryers for larger loads at lower total cost if they were willing to sort out their clothes at the end 😔

the discourse about this is driving me insane. no, buying vegetables at the grocery store is not radical leftist praxis. if you wanted to do something truly ~revolutionary~ you would run into the store, grab a handful of snow peas, and run out. ESPECIALLY if it's a corporate chain supermarket whose food is sourced from exploited migrant workers being paid starvation wages. like. paying for peas is not going to help those workers lmao it's not gonna help the cashiers it's not gonna help the custodial staff who mop the floors it's not even gonna help middle management. any money you spend on snow peas at the grocery store goes straight into the pockets of the billionaire ceos who either hoard that wealth or use it to further the american imperialist machine. like at that point the only true way to circumvent the system is to sprint through the produce aisle shoplifting snow peas. and if you use one of those little plastic produce baggies you're nullifying the entire action. like wow congrats on missing the point SO hard. the more plastic that gets used, the more plastic gets produced. the environmental consequences are kind of abstract from a usamerican perspective since the people who are most affected by this kind of large-scale pollution and trash icebergs etc are disenfranchised people living in the global south, so like I get WHY people might think it's okay to use plastic produce bags when shoplifting snow peas (if the effects don't target you personally then those effects must not be real, right? el oh el), but honestly using the bags just signals to me that you care more about LOOKING like an activist by stealing peas than you do about actual activism which requires a lot more thought and intention when stealing peas and isn't just about espousing all the Correct Pea-Stealing Opinions on tumblr dot com. personally, when I run into the grocery store, pick up a bunch of snow peas, and run out, I just carry them in my hands. like I sprint through the store and down the street with two fistfuls of snow peas. I never really have issues w dropping any but if you're worried abt it you can just put them in your pockets (lmfao watch me get called a misogynist for this bc 'women's clothing doesn't have pockets big enough for a pea pod' g-d tumblr is such a joke). seriously it's not that complicated. the anticapitalist revolution isn't going to come from internet discourse, it's going to come from finding the nearest large chain supermarket, sprinting to the produce section, grabbing as many loose pods of snow peas as you can hold, and sprinting back out. will people chase you? maybe. but that's a risk you have to be willing to take for the sake of creating a better world. If You Pay For Peas, You Are Part Of The Problem.

Literally would rather dieee than be a dropout fan on twitter and some of you are bringing that dumb bullshit here too. You are so mind poisoned by online “activism” it’s insane. “Every brand I know needs to make a performative statement Right Now or I’m going to assume they’re evil.” Do you actually fucking care about Palestinians? Seriously. Look me in the eye. How does this help anyone in Gaza? Why the fuck would the random personal statement of an extremely small, niche American streaming company with a vast majority leftist audience actually help? Hello? HELLOOO? Or are we going to say the quiet part out loud and confirm you only care about “testing” them bc their ceo is Jewish.
Do you think the people in Gaza struggling to survive right now are going “Maybe if this one obscure online streaming service from the states speaks out, then there’ll be a ceasefire.” Like are you for real? Pressuring Dropout into a statement is clearly not for Palestinians. It’s for you. So you can assuage whatever guilt you can’t manage to swallow down about being an American citizen at the moment. Because if you can pressure other people into “performing” activism correctly, maybe you’ll feel a little better about your own privilege. Well it’s shitty. And it’s not helpful. You aren’t changing the world by bullying a small entertainment company on twitter. It’s not about activism. It’s about you taking advantage of a horrifying situation to gleefully inflict any social power and control you can on the people around you.
“Your silence is deafening” I think some of us could stand to shut the fuck up sometimes actually, cause what I’m hearing seems to often be whole lot of bullshit and misinformation and half-baked opinions from people who know almost nothing about Palestine’s situation and can only even pretend to understand it by making completely inappropriate and inaccurate comparisons to events more relevant to your specific American experience, because god forbid we not center our Western perspective when people elsewhere in the world are dying. (That’s without getting into the fact that you all can’t respect Jewish grief to save your goddamn lives and can’t hold space for anyone to have a remotely complex emotion over such a devastating issue bc you’re more concerned with moral purity and making yourself look like a “good activist” than you are about actually helping anyone).

hey im really glad you're speaking out on this israel/palestine issue. the public opinion is way, way too skewed in gazas favor.
ive been trying to talk to people irl about it, and my circle at least is mostly pro israel, and we all agree that what's going on on social media is insane.
absolutely no one is saying that all the information from gaza is coming from hamas, not to mention the defense of them. and i've never seen so much antisemitism just out in the open. the literal left is out here like "maybe hitler was right" and then call you "pro-genocide" when you call them out.
also, people are falling for propaganda and manipulation at degrees that, honestly, concern me.
Al Jazeera is the propaganda arm of the Qatari regime which, of course, is where the Hamas leadership lives. It's spent years developing a good reputation among lefties because it does - in truth - contain some analysis and information the Western media doesn't focus on. But it's part of a much larger information campaign that's happening that includes Russia and Iran and their social media outfits that aim to destabilize 'the West'. I've read AJ, just like I've read RT news - the Russian counterpart. They are designed to take a leftist argument and then put a spin on it - test the waters for more radical interpretations, push the limits and subtly distort perception. They have different outlets to massage the opinions on the right wing too. The goal is to make a middle ground impossible, and they are succeeding beyond anyone's wildest dreams.
Odds are good that we all follow at least one state actor - there was one here on tumblr that I had followed called, I believe, 'votingwhileblack' - which posted interesting critiques of the U.S. elections. But it was unmasked as a Russian agent, and I looked at the account contents more objectively. Much of it was very worthwhile analysis of U.S. attempts to disenfranchise people from their elections, but it was interspersed with subtle and not-so-subtle nudges - lots of 'don't bother voting, it's all rigged' material, Dems are just as bad as GOP, you can't trust the government at all, unless we do 'something radical' then nothing will ever change, all white people are racist and hatred is a natural response and so on. There are enough people who agree with these sentiments to spread that view, but by leading the conversation, it changes the tone. It makes anyone who disagrees with you the enemy, who is beyond negotiation, and so moderate solutions are discarded. The same is happening on the right and is why online discussion can be especially toxic and uninformative.
These campaigns have been running for years and these state agents have collected a huge amount of data points, floated a lot of arguments and learning which ones will stick. I can see this being applied to the current conflict.
The most striking to me is the word 'genocide' is used in a conflict with - even by Hamas' own claims - has 10,000 casualties. No one seems to question how many of those casualties are civilian and what portion are Hamas soldiers. Hamas claims to have 40,000 Hamas fighters in their 3-500km of tunnels. Hamas has fired thousands of rockets into Israel (and more of them land in Gaza than Israel to be honest, they're not good rockets) and Israel has dropped about 10,000 tonnes of bombs, including bunker busters that penetrate deep into the ground to destroy the tunnels. These are powerful explosions, so just compare that activity with the self-reported casualty count. It's actually quite low. Civilian deaths are always horrible to see, but there's absolutely no evidence that Israel is targeting civilians, much less killing them in large numbers.
But that's no problem if you follow the script - the genocide argument seamlessly shifts to the future, like Israel wants to occupy Gaza and/or expel all Gazans and that's really the genocide in play. I think the most likely long-term outcome is that Israel will occupy Gaza while they try to find a government that is willing to keep working to a 2 state solution, and they will stop employing Gazans - just as Egypt and Lebanon currently does - because it's quite likely that the setup for this operation was done by Gazan workers employed in Israel (the intelligence gathering on security weaknesses, the stolen IDF uniforms etc).
None of these outcomes are good for Palestinians, but they're also not genocide. Or all they all genocide? It's an easy pivot set up to be applied no matter what Israel does, the blame is always placed on Israel. And so by taking a real word with specific meaning, it's now going to be used as a vague accusation that can mean anything to advance whatever argument you want to make against whatever reality is taking place.
Honestly, even the word 'Palestinian' is somewhat complicated. Part of the difficulty of this conflict is this identity that refers to a nation without a state. The Arab desire for statehood in the region grew in the 20s and 30s but they didn't accept the UN proposal in 1948 and instead started (and lost) a war to control the entire territory. But they didn't also accept that loss, or claim Gaza and the West Bank as their own state. Instead, this idea is now the abstract 'Palestinian cause' that exists in almost a parallel world where Israel isn't real, the 1948 war is still happening and justice won't be done until Israel is gone and Palestine is created in its place.
Even 75 years later, there are millions of 'Palestinian refugees' who are the descendants of this movement living in Gaza and the West Bank. Yes, they are 'refugees' even while living in the land allocated for their self-governed state. They live in 'refugee camps' even though they are towns like anything else you'd build after living there for 75 years. But they don't want that land, they want Israel. Half of Jordanians are Palestinian but they don't want that, they want Israel. Southern Lebanon is controlled by Hezbollah but they don't want that, they want Israel. Nowhere else in the world are the grandchildren of refugees still legally considered refugees except here, where they officially ask for the 'right of return' which is to 'return' to the land of Israel (and put an end to the Israeli state) and regain the property or land their ancestors held in 1948. Which should make it really clear why they will always be refugees until they take over the land of Israel - there's always the threat that they will give up on Israel and find some land elsewhere to set up a state. Having sustained this movement for so long, the surrounding Arab states now realize its a potential threat to their own stability, so it's important that threat needs to keep focused on Israel.
If I were Palestinian I would be so angry at the world, because while everyone wants to use you and says they support 'the cause', Palestinian nationalists don't have any real friends. Hamas is an Islamist group that wants to start a global jihad to establish an Islamic caliphate, ideally on a global basis. They started in Egypt as the Muslim Brotherhood and got kicked out to try again in Palestine. The blockades on Gaza make them rich, because they run smuggling operations through their tunnels and extort money from the Gazan population, and the poverty that creates also gives them footsoldiers for their war, because desperate people in a broken country will sign up for their militia just to get a paycheque. It's in their interests to keep Gazans impoverished and at war.
The Western leftists are drawn out to support 'the cause' to atone for the sins of Western colonialism, but that's really just to avoid addressing issues in their own countries. You can chant 'from the river to the sea' all you want, but you'd have to overthrow and occupy Israel to do that, which means killing or expelling every Jew living there and that's not going to happen without an army of about 10 million soldiers and/or a nuke. No one in the West is really signing up for that. they're just following the urge to feel morally superior without actually doing anything and that's just fine for Al Jazeera and all the social media bots working the information campaign of this war.
The liberals of the West are being rallied for 2 goals - to continue the goal of splintering the political climate in the U.S. and affecting U.S. elections. (I don't think young people are even aware of how often the Palestinian cause has been used to influence U.S. elections, going back to the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy in the 60s.)
The other goal is to pressure Israel to stop their campaign before Hamas is fully destroyed and return to the status quo - another ceasefire in a war that began in 1948 and still continues, punctuated by one failed ceasefire after another. It's simplified and autotuned so it sounds like a call for peace, but it's actually a call for the horrible state of limbo to continue, where the cycle can be endlessly repeated and 'the cause' is kept alive to be mobilized again when it's needed.
Palestinian radicals have acted as a state-within-a-state in Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt attempting numerous coups, civil war and assassinations, this is why they no longer accept any refugees from the area. But in the end, where do Palestinian people go? The world eggs them on, but isn't actually going to help resolve 'the cause'. After Israel was created, about 700,000 Jews were expelled from most Arab countries and Israel took them in, ergo they are no longer refugees. Why are Palestinians still stateless after 75 years? The fact that Palestinians don't have a homeland or statehood says a lot about how committed its neighbors are to actually helping them achieve that goal.
In order to resolve 'the cause', you either need to have a 2 state solution so Palestinians can stop being other people's pawns and just get on with their lives, or Hamas achieves its goals and run the world under Sharia law. Both Israel and Palestinian nationalists need to come to terms with the shitty hands they've been given and accept a solution that might not be their ideals, but is better than war that continues for another 3 generations and it's better than living in a global caliphate
Anyway, I've now made 3-4 posts about this conflict and received an insane number of messages about this, ranging from death threats and hostile responses to overly earnest counter-arguments to things I've never said, mostly from people I've never heard from before and aren't in my orbit. And I'm a middle-aged gender critical woman on backwater tumblr getting this level of interference - can you imagine what popular social media accounts are getting? 'All those' people you hear aren't people, they are state interests working in a coordinated campaign to influence the West. And this is how a pro-Palestinian march keeps getting steered to the occasional 'gas the Jews' chant, how Taliban and Al-Quaeda flags keep showing up at the marches, or calls for Biden to be removed from office for his support for Israel (bc Trump is the most useful idiot ever and these accounts want him for president). Hamas et. al. are my enemy, not Palestinians and not Israel. Focus on their actions and you can really cut through the deception to see the strategy. They have really clear goals about what they want, they're making excellent gains by confusing everyone else about what's in our best interests.

I think that incident is what made me start to stray away from the crowd that’s really militant about media consumption being inherently tied to your morals. I remember seeing a post with a few thousand notes saying something along the lines of it being proof of why Tumblr is bad at banning nazis and it had me like ‘Huh?? Am I losing it or something?’ The crowd I hung with were mainly leftists who enjoyed anime at least somewhat.
It also helped for me to realise that (after making accounts on other sites like Twitter and breaking out of my shell irl) a lot of media that gets deemed as being irredeemably repugnant and treated as a huge moral stain on fans’ characters is actually super normie and that people with that militant mindset tend to also like things that are just as bad (which they tend to absolve themselves by saying ‘I’m critical of my interests’ when issues are brought up to them).
I don’t have a problem with people setting personal boundaries with the things they read/watch/play and I’m not saying these things can’t be criticised but if they’re going to moralise everybody else’s media consumption to an insane degree and hurl accusations and callout posts about it then it’s like, at least be consistent about it you know?
this is really well put. it bothers me so much because it just erodes the actual impact of those words. but I guess thats part of the point, cuz if they said what they mean “I think this person is bad SOLELY for liking a tv show” then no one would take them seriously, so they have to obfuscate it. all because like, i don’t even know, maybe they just get an adrenaline rush from starting drama online and thats how they get through the day. Its just a bizarre and juvenile pattern of behavior.

Honestly, as a man, I think most of my greivances have been with online leftism and the attitudes the queer and feminist spaces have towards men in them have been more damaging than almost anything else in my life. I've stopped thinking about my middle school bullies, and everyone knows my abusive mom and ex girlfriend are insane, but the attitudes I'd been faced with on the internet as a teen still seem to sit with me.
It's the constant judgement. The perpetual social hierarchy of how men are only ever oppressors and be wrong in situations. "Never trust a man who says all his exes are crazy, be wary of men who speak poorly of their mothers" while women who say all their exes are crazy and speak poorly of their fathers are only ever met with sympathy and the usual "lol yeah men are trash". Masculine hobbies and modes of presentation being put down to uplift feminine ones, "when you see a 10/10 girl with a 4/10 guy" comments just cus the guy looks like a dude who works at Target rather than a goddamn movie star, penises and facial hair and deep voices are yucky disgusting, The Ick, "hate when big groups of men are laughing, what's so funny, rape and misogyny?" Videos of dudes crying and talking about how they're having a hard time is just met with ridicule and emasculating commentary from both men and women who posture themselves as kinder and smarter than the status quo, "weh weh raise the male suicide rate they're all rapists and abusers anyway", other dudes siding with women who do this shit cus they're more concerned with being One Of The Good Ones than they are having a fucking spine or a sense of individuality, not realizing they're just the male equivalent of pickme girls.
Idk man it just hurts me. I've been abused by a lot of women, had my sexual advances blown wildly out of proportion because the women in question either regretted engaging with me later or wanted to keep running with this narrative that they have no agency and are perpetually victims in their own lives even though I haven't really done anything to make them believe this, and all it gets me in these spaces is blank stares and awkward silences, when I know if the genders were flipped I'd get nothing but endless support. I'm not as upset about one of my exes making false rape accusations against me as I was as a teenager, but I'm sometimes nervous around bringing it up in leftist spaces at all because I figure folks are just gonna find a way to warp it and make me feel like I imagined the whole thing and that my ex had every right to be a shit to me because she's a girl and girls doing anything is Girl Power, even when it's actively harming others.
I'm sure me being black and trans plays a big role in this too, but again, 1) I'm not a fan of putting emphasis on my marginalization for brownie points, 2) I actually am straight, masculine, gender conforming despite those marginalizations, so there's really no identifiers for me to hide behind and claim "false comparison" over, I actually am all those things that online queer and feminist spaces take issue with and it still sucks and has actively done damage to my self esteem over the years and 3) I've seen other men-- cis, white, whatever-- of all backgrounds talking about their frustrations with this too. It's just another form of socially acceptable bullying and I kinda hate it.
People ask why I go stealth irl, why I don't go out of my way to befriend a ton of queer and liberal people my age, and why I'm adverse to communities that pride themselves on being diverse and all accepting and shit, well this is why. Cus every time I talk about a problem or criticize reactionary sentiment in those spaces, I'm met with me just being ~a pathetic man who's too sensitive to letting marginilized people vent~, I'm told that I'm part of the problem, I'm told that if I stopped being so rape-y and entitled and if I just fell in line like a good little man that I wouldn't have any of these problems, no actual solutions or sympathy, just condescension.
Yeah, of course I identify with bro culture, speak highly of masculinity, and entertain playful douchebaggery after years of that. That stuff saved my life and isn't hostile to my existence or my desires. I'm loud, energetic, assertive, with a hazing / controversial sense of humor and morality, there is no timeline where I'm going to be defanged and docile and see it as acceptable to walk all over someone for things they can't help, no matter how "privileged" they are. These subcultures let me be a man in a way a lot of online (and honestly, irl) leftist spaces aren't really willing to allow or deal with.

Peter Rabbit is communism
Honestly, I don't think any of y'all are ready for what I'm about to say, but Peter Rabbit (the Movie) is actually Marxist/communist propaganda. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I am completely 100% serious with this. So, I made a longish essay analyzing the plot of this movie. There are spoilers, obviously, but you aren't missing out on a lot by not watching this insane woke dumpster fire of a film.
A much better name for this movie would probably be Revolutionary Rabbit ☭ .
Part I: introduction and context
Just so we're all on the same page, Peter Rabbit (the Movie) is a 2018 film directed by Will Gluck. It is partially live-action and CGI. Many of the movie's characters are taken from Helen Beatrix Potter's 23 stories, including the titular protagonist Peter Rabbit, but also Benjamin Bunny, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail Rabbit, and many more. The movie also includes Beatrix herself as a main character, alongside an entirely original one, Thomas McGregor. The movie was first released by Colombia Pictures in the US.
Will Gluck, a movie director, and known communist, socialist, and wokist.
The first piece of evidence of this movie being communist lies in the fact that the director of this movie, Will Gluck, is also one of the executive producers of the leftist show Woke. That's right. The very DIRECTOR OF THIS MOVIE is a communist involved in the production of woke propaganda. But believe me, there's so much more.
Part II: beginning of the plot
So, the first 15 minutes of this movie is set in the Lakes district of England, where Peter Rabbit, his three sisters Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail, and his friend Benjamin Bunny, all live. The five rabbits often raid Mr. McGregor's garden and steal his vegetables. One day, however, Peter accidentally sets off a trap McGregor had prepared, causing McGregor to chase Peter away in an attempt to catch him. Luckly, Beatrix, a lovely artist who cares for the animals, catches Peter in her arms before McGregor could. It is later revealed that McGregor ate Peter's father, and that Bea has cared for the rabbits ever since their mom died. However, Peter goes back into the garden to take back his jacket which he lost and gets caught by McGregor, who then immediately dies from a heart attack caused by his unhealthy, American-centric diet. A ecstatic Peter then invites all the animals to McGregor's home.
A photo of Beatrix (foreground left), the five rabbits (background left), and Mr. McGregor (center) and his garden (right).
Already, these first 15 minutes infuriate me. Peter Rabbit actually believes that he has a right to raid Mr. McGregor's garden, or in other words, his property, and a right to take and eat his vegetables, or in other words, his property. Other than this being completely immoral, trespassing on someone else's property and stealing their stuff is criminalized by countless laws in the United States and would quite possibly land him in death row. The only reason he has not been caught by the law is simply because he lives in the UK.
Keep in mind that this movie is made for children. Why does a movie made for children include a scene where a person literally kills and eats a rabbit? Is this movie for children or not? I guess it's just woke Hollywood nonsense again, not known for being logical or consistent.
Not to mention about all the anti-American racism present here? Mr. McGregor literally just eats an all-American diet, and then the movie claims that diet is what killed him. That's fucking ridiculous and so, SO racist. If that's not anti-American and racist, then I don't know what is. I really don't. And once again, this anti-American racism is indicative of a communist, wokeist ideology. Just think about it! You have to be pro- something, and if you're anti-America, then what else could you possibly be for, other than China? And - big shocker - but China is literally communist.
Part III: Thomas McGregor
At about the 15 minute mark of this movie, Thomas mcGregor (aka mr. mcGregor) is finally introduced. he is a perfectionist, a workaholic, and a controling man, working for the toy department of Harrods in London for ten years, waiting for a promotion. He sees the general manager, expecting his promotion, but is instead told that his Great-Uncle has died. Unfazed by such trivial information, he pressures the maneger to reveal to him whether or not he got a premotion. but sadly for him, the promotion went to a lazy and idiotic nephew of the managing director. This infuriates Thomas, causing him to fucking lose it and mess up the store. and because of that he gets fired.
A photo of Thomas McGregor (centre, right in front of the toilet), immediately before he goes to talk with his manager.
This momant provides perfect evidence that this movie is communist: the movie shows that even the perfect worker, a man who does absolutely everything perfectly and has done everything perfectly for years, that his work will not let him to clime the socio-economic ladder. His talents, his hard work, all of his merits, none of them will ever pay off. Yet, a lazy and stupid man is given a high-ranking position simply because he is related to another guy already in a powerful posision. This moment is, clearly, a jab at the idea of a meritocracy. Its an woke attack on our American system and I will not stand for it. Remember, that Peter Rabbit (the Movie) is (at the very least, supposedly) a childrens movie, and at just fifteen minutes communism is being shoved down children's throats! Ridiculous!
Part IV: conflict
After Thomas is firred, he then realizes that he had inherited the valueble mcgregor manor and that he could sell it to create his own toystore. When he arives he is shoked to find all the animalds and so he kicks them out. and cleans up the house and fixxes the fence. Bea speaks with Thomas, encourages him to let the wildlife freely enter the gardan, and givies him a pair of binoculars. Dispite Beas efforts Thomas keeps the gstes closed and ups the security. Petre and Benjiman sneak back into the garden, and are chased down by Thomas. while Peter escapes, Benjamin is caught by Thomas ahd taken by Tomas to be thrown of a bridge, but he is rescued by the other rabbits and Thomas accidentily drops the binoculars instead. Thomas than goes and buys an ellectroc fence and dynamite. Bea and Thomas met again, and fall in lovve with eachother, much to Peters dismay and jealosy. Peter and Thomus start anotger war between themselves, resulting in one of Bea's paiinting getting ruinned and Peter getting kicked out of Bea's home.
Peter Rabbit and Thomas McGregor going absolutely batshit insane on each other.
this part of the Peter Rabbit (the Movie) is prehaps the best part. I cant find any communism or sociallism here. Fore example Thomas literally shoos away all the trespassing animals who violate his propertie rights. He puts so much effort into cleanign his house, and it all pays of: a clear demonstratuon that hard work will always be worthwhile. Still, there are many propblems with this part of the movie. For example, why is there a man doing all this cleaning? I knoe that hes doing a lot of work, but why would he threaten his oun masculinity like that? And, if you pay attention, the narriator litterally says this: "romance is a powerful thing. It can sneak up on any two people. Even if one's amazing, and the other is a McGregor". I'm sorry, but that implies that literally any twlo people can fall in love, even if they're both men, or both women. And this is supposed to be a kids movie? if so than why are you promoting liberal gender ideology nonsence in this movie? I guess this just coms down to Holly wood always having to promote an ideology. If it's not marxist socialist communism, than it must be liberal gender ideology. Of course.
Part V: shit goes crazy
This is the piont of the Peter Rabbit (the Movie) where every thimg devolves into all out war. Petre and his famly decid to put boobytrapps in side Thomes 's home in aqn attemt to get rid of him, caosing Thamas many pain and frustetion. So thomas upgrafes his securite again, electrifoiing his femce. in response, Perte rewires the electic fence so wheng thomAs touches a toorhandle he receves a shock, prevocing Thomas to throw dynamite in the rabbits burrow. the rabbbits attack back by triggreing Thomass 's blackberry allergy. Thamos retalliates by lighting and throwing dynamte at the babbits. Bea notices the sounds and approches Thpmas asking him abuot the commotion. He assures Bea everytihng is alreight but Peter detonates the rest ofthe explosifes destroing the Beaas artstudio and the rabits burroew. Bea is uotraged with thomas and dismisis his explanation that the rabits were involved and splits up with him.
An explosive, trying to tear apart a heterosexual relationship.
the conflict thaet erupts betwen Thomas and Peter symbloises the violence that marxxists and comunists want, in oorder to achieve there terrible goals for sociietie. they want to terrorise, pillege, and destroy their way to create thier own litle utopia, to destrioy traditional, patriotic, AMERICAN values, like heterosexuality. as you can see, the btreaking up of a heterosexual relationship is exactly wat marxiists want, and its exactly ehat happens in this scene.
Part VI: Bee and Thomus departt and join up agein
Tomase is lreft heartbrokken, and geos back tto Londdon, wile pEtre rebit feils guillty aend remosefl fr hes actiones, aned so he goes into Loendonm widh Bonjiman to finnd Thumus and brieng him beck. bi nowe Htomas has reterned to harrots, and bakc in the cooutnriyside Bea is leaving hher homse, althoughh the ohter rebbits and the woldlife try tto stup her. Peter snd Binjimon encorage THomas two lissin to his heart end go back to the countrie side wth Bea. thommis agrees and gos.

12, 17, and 18 for the asks!
12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
uhhh... no one in my particular circle of people with Taste, but Jyn. not even in terms of immediate fandom disk horse, but that in the wider-off tumblr star wars cultural reception, I think that even if rogue one is remembered as that That Time SW managed to Make Another Film That Was Good, the individual characters have been kind of... swallowed up. and that's why i love her. she's such a fucking mess. she's kind of petty and mean but in the space of things feels really human and fragile and somewhere outside the sw Strong Female Character Warrior Queen thing. her introduction scene as an adult where she takes the fucking shovel and just starts swinging is one of my favorite things in sw.
i think the same could be said of a bunch of the individual characters in andor, who i deeply adore, especially cinta, vel, bix, and kleya. not that they're unpopular in the I Hate These Women Way fandom sometimes does but that you just don't really see much... about them. (i do wish things about bix's writing were different, but i am fascinated by her as a CHARACTER and the fact that not only was she part of the extremely nascent rebellion before cassian, before almost everyone we know, if you draw the lines she's probably REALLY central to the axis circuit which is.. fascinating. like because she has no reason to tell Anyone the Truth of her secret dealings, we actually know extremely little about her, and that fascinates me. also she's this woman stuck in a small town she's tied into the fabric of and that's this source of complex ennui and pain i really love seeing in genre fiction and would love to root around in some more.)
vel and cinta... HELLO... vel and cinta.... cinta and vel... my brain is always thinking about them. just a lil.
also! i think leida mothma is second only to dark vader in greatest villains of the star wars universe. she's annoying as hell and she's this generational ticking time bomb about what happens when the kids born into the empire swallow it, when they /aren't/ leia organa.
17. there should be more of this type of fic/art
instead of twitter misogyny i would like to see jyn/bix also jyn/bix/cassian. nothing will save us but bi threesomes.
AU's where cassian drove the van for the aldhani rock group's cringe death metal band (or, if we're placing SW into the 1970's, the aldhani group's 60's scottish folk band.)
honestly extremely attached to any kind of thing where jyn and cassian have a deep connection to each other that isn't laterally a hallmark greeting card. like i actually really find the extremely close FWB vibe with them during the rebellion era to be tremendously interesting, and i don't think fandom does enough with the whole fact that maybe a 70's space-futuristic leftist army /might/ not have the same ideas around social organisation and intimacy as a a netflix rom com OMG ARE YOU GUYS LIKE TOGETHER TOGETHER???? (like i'm sure the goss on echo base was insane but i'm also not sure it might have been That.)
Anything which recognises the Real Fact that Rogue One AU's should be set in the 1970's and everyone should be wearing 70's fashions and there should be way more oblique mentions of bellbottoms and paisley. except arguably andor might be set in the 60's. in which case they should be wearing 60's fashions.
This might be summoning snakes into my house but... you know all the stuff i said about kidfic aus? turns out what i really dislike are bad kidfic aus! because they thing is is that i think jyn and cassian's narratives are profoundly focused on the question of What It Is to be Someone's Child, and sw in general is really interested in the questions about what it is to be someone's parent and someoen's child in extremity (how well they carry this out ESPECIALLy with women is debatable) and there's a lot of room to do some seriously interesting character study work and post-war How Do We Break These Cycles work if it's something aside from the kind of bioessentialist hey guys woman's purpose Fulfilled because she's had biological children/ narrative OR the you can tell how Healed jyn and cassian are and how Over the War is cause they have two (2) biological children in space!suburbia called lyra and galen scenario, which proliferates in fandom. basically what i'm saying is there's no weird indie movie about rey climbing into cassian's car at the Jack-Q service station to steal his potato chips and him being like WHOSE KID IS THIS i have to RETURN you so this isn't KIDNAPPING [terrible flashbacks] and rey being like nooo mister and then they go on a loopy roadtrip to find her parents when of course the answer is in the journey. also nobody's written the scenario of Ye Classic Space!Road Trip to The Beach and the kids in the back seat are like BISCUIT BARON BISCUIT BARON and cassian is squinting over the top of the steering wheel because he thinks he missed the turnoff and pulling ye old Hay Comida En La Casaaaaa but Jyn's just like actually every single Biscuit Baron in the galaxy is closed, just for today, and the only thing they sell is black coffee.
18. it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...
not to be like people would Care if they were white men BUT the amount of press and buzz and fics there would be if velcinta were white men like literally shut up about white war criminal superhero x white war criminal superhero when there's antifascist lesbian guerillas shooting fascists AND wearing twee hats in the highlands while they feed sheep in their lil space!scottish brokeback moutain moments. i think they're slept on as individual characters and as a ship especially when Cinta is one of the only women of color in the modern star wars and vel's story is on some level literally about queerness, being a queer woman in a conservative society (always hiding, always changing.)
jyn and cassian's matching magical girl anime moment soulmate chrystal kyber necklaces
still boggling over the fact that cassian and jyn's Rebellion Kidnappers/Dads canonically are people with History, c'mon guys, there's an infinite amount of stuff to do with saw and luthen accidentally setting their kidnapping victims/adoptees/proteges up together. (also i'm just extremely fascinated by saw and luthen as characters, up there with Guys Fandom Sleeps on.)

Sol (he/it) QUEEEER!!
Welcome to my Centricide blog, dedicated to that one web series that you most definitely shouldn't fucking watch!! I only really post about certain characters because I do not like the others, so if you are wondering where <insert character> is then that is why. And no, I do not care much for canon, so if you think my interpretations of characters are "cringe" or "incorrect" then maybe you are just not silly enough for my blog.
ASKS OPEN: Feel free to send in asks!! I might doodle requests if it peaks my interest, emphasis on MIGHT, so feel free to send in hypotheticals. Only request characters I've already drawn before though.
Tags:

And yes I ship Leftist Unity. Leftist Unity is not problematic, and I don't understand how some of you have come to that conclusion. More under the cut.
At no point is Ancom explicitly stated to be a minor (as far as I'm aware). The term "anarkiddy" is a derogatory term for anarcho-leftists, it's demeaning because you're implying they're immature and childish. And it is completely in line with Commie's character to be using a demeaning term like this, because Commie views himself as more intelligent and mature than the people around him. Actually, it's really important to Commie as a character that Commie stops referring to Ancom as anarkiddy, because he's come to the realisation that Ancom is an equal to him and that he needs qim. Take the song Leftist Unity -- a part of the whole reason the last verse holds so much weight is because Commie drops the demeaning nickname and actually calls Ancom by qis name. Commie is realising he has driven a wedge between them because of his own flaws, and that he just can't go on without Ancom despite having claimed he was better than the other. None of this is inherently about Ancom being a minor, this is about Ancom being treated as an equal. That concludes my mini analysis.
All that being said, I MUST emphasise: one shitty joke in the director's cut is not confirmation that Ancom is a minor. For realsies. It's just one offshoot line.
I think something that sucks is that, maybe for some people, this assumption has come from a place of misunderstanding. For example, there has been a lot of push by certain people that being nonbinary is a phase or neopronouns are for children and this general narrative that there are no nonbinary adults.. This obviously isn't true, and I worry that people who have come to the conclusion Ancom is a minor might partially believe that because they've internalised this or actually agree with this narrative. DISCLAIMER: ADULTS CAN BE NONBINARY <- *I* am a nonbinary adult and there are plenty of other adult gender queers out there. Ancom is not a minor just because qi has silly pronouns.
However, I don't mind if you view qim as a minor. That's none of my business. But don't go around calling a ship gross because of something YOU'VE projected onto a character, that's your own headcanon and it's not universal. And if you ARE under the assumption Ancom is a minor because qi acts silly or uses neopronouns or the like, I just want you to pause and think about if it's coming from your own assumptions of what an adult is meant to look like. If you still think Ancom is a minor after that reflection, then that's okay, and that's your headcanon, and you are allowed to silly wit it :3 Just don't force that hc onto others.
TLDR; don't harass me over my headcanon and I won't harass you over yours. 👍

7/14/24
sunday
uneventful day.
i forgot to talk about yesterday's wayy psycho news about trump getting shot at! immediately exhausted by all the conspiracist shit i am seeing crop up on either side while we know very little about this, i can't say anything for certain but to so quickly discount that anyone would do this of their own volition is ridiculous and super irritating. on the other hand seeing people say it's not fishy because there were casualties is equally strange, to see people be like, so eager to know what this was, you know. like this is not something any of us will really possess as any kind of knowledge, probably not even the people at the top. it's a nightmare, is all really. him living too, is part of that. part of what saved his life is a racist rant to say something about immigration, i think, i heard, i guess this is only supposed. but it's an insane detail. and then that fucking photo that got taken, his ability to make it a pose immediately. it is too much, it is too pregnant, i guess this is why people are eager to say it was all designed. but looking at the events, if this was a plant to make trump look good, the shooter could have done less damage to trump, taken wider shots, anything like that, or shoot him somewhere less dangerous than the head. if it's otherwise, i imagine they would not have missed. seeing people say they want to read dave mcgowan because of this drives me cuhrayzyyy.
obviously, noah dillon of the hellp is calling this "the most iconic political event since 9/11",
i suppose in some sense it is, or something. it's certainly disturbing to me that the image produced, of trump fist pumping, feels like the most "virile" fantasy of america instantiated, it's the fascistic dream actualized, it has become bodily, and to take the photo at all, to not run, to take the photo of trump doing that, to frame it as well as you can, you know, to do that is demented, the total lack of self preservation to do that, it is hideously american, super-careerist fantasy.
anyway, there's i guess a lot you can say about this, it feels like it's secured his win. it also makes me wonder if things will get worse for people who aren't the norm, or if truly nothing will happen. the right is on the rise but this country, it is hard to have any centralized action beyond just electoral shit, i think, maybe i hope, ignorantly. i guess it is ignorant, racists have always been able to accomplish more than seems imaginable, more diffuse now, the intolerant really have easier ways to communicate, keep their kids in homeschooling, creating a whole separate ecosystem, if those drives turn dominant, what becomes of all others, i guess.
but i know some people really think nothing's gonna happen.
it just all feels rather, whatever you do to look at it, dour, stupid, i dunno, nothing good will happen but the best i can hope for is a total 0. i know some people think the shooter was a lib, or like "leftist" since those are the same to some, or one woman really, it's kind of crazy to say that when he's registered otherwise after donating once when he was 17 because the dems are talking about putting trump in the "bullseye" at other times and talking up him being a threat to democracy.
anyway. ... like... #whateverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
so what else.
today i recorded vocals for one song!! tomorrow i'm gonna try another, and gonna try write lyrics for something else. i also reinstalled some stuff but idk if it really helped out. very frustrated by that, but what can i do, idk. it's a weird issue, it's like utterly new to me at this point, i do not have any idea other than maybe a windows update fucking something up? but idk what that'd do really. to be honest. maybe i need to reinstall waves? that's such a fricking pain though. it does make music harder to wanna do. maybe a good thing, so i can focus on other stuff? maybe, to be honest.
anyway, beyond the vocals, i also did write a couple other little things, one thing's set for drums, one thing i'm in process w/ drums, 2nd one is gonna be like a fucked up no wavey emo-violence thing i think. other one's gonna be like a weirdo synthy thing, i really love the chiptune melody on it, and the bass, and then i found a place for the stylophone vst i got! so that rawks. i also got an old song re-done, for this next ep, so i wanna get lyrics done for that.
i think tomorrow i should also try to basically split this one old track in half because i think basically i wrote 2 songs and they deserve to be their own things, one half's like the kinda crazy no wave pv-y emoviolence-y thing, and then the other's like a screwed up... idk, it's a crazy riff though i love that one, it's got legs enough to be a kind of simple song riding off that rhythm / riff. somehow very catchy despite being wayy dissonant. some of these feel very music video ready, which is also fun for me to think abt.
going back in to mess with the drums in one song, i was met with no crashes, it was fine... i did switch the rendering on some plugins to no open gl ui. that seems to add some stability. crazy issue to have though.
also i got some writing done, something else tiny, like a little horror-ish thing almost. it's fun to write stories that do not really have much scope, properly short, a good way to keep in practice. although i think this is too, to be honest. this stretches my voice in ways i'm not used to, i think it's making me a little more expressive in text, which makes me feel #cute. i hope to use that in some way as i write, a new poetics to explore.
anyway, it's about time to go to bed so:

Ya know what? I want to talk about my ocs but I can never do that if no one knows anything about them and I have no idea what to talk about. So here is the list of my current stories (using my sometimes fun and sometimes just basic ass titles)
Republicans get fucked (literally): Okay so I got the idea for this one when there was a book that went viral where it's some young liberal woman who falls in love with a conservative man and turns into your classic trad wife. And I've never seen anything with a similar plot but the other way around or queer. So this is a series of stories involving Republicans who bottom for liberals. This is the series that Oscar and Kandi belong to. It's one of my favorites just simply because it's the stories/characters that got me back into writing my own characters. Currently, it's got two main stories. Ivan x Sage and Oscar x Mason. Oscar and Mason's story is more smut than Ivan x Sage. Mason's is about a rich conservative college football player who falls for his rather gross leftist roommate. Then Sage's story has been coined in my mind as incel to femboy because that is what he is.
Ken x Wren (Did I say already that I have basic ass titles?): Superhero x villain but it's the type where the villain is a young college freshman who is living with a famous superhero who is paying for literally his whole life including his father's medical bills. And the only reason said hero (Ken) is paying for all of this is because of the fact that he likes taking advantage of young people who can't say no to him for fear of being kicked out on their asses. Meanwhile, Wren has been working for a shitty capitalist who has been touching him since before he was of age so he's pretty used to this by now.
Yandere brother: The first incest listed here but not at all the last one that I have. This one is about an older brother Dante who has literally no feelings for anyone, romantic or platonic. And this includes his parents. He doesn't really want friends or anything but eventually makes friends to soothe his parents. That is until his younger brother, Eden, is born when he's ten. It's a slow burn and ends with the two fucking after Dante kills all of his brother's friends. It also has a lot of religious talk as I imagine you can guess with Eden's name. This story was supposed to be a short story but then it turned into two novellas/novels, one from each of their perspectives.
Kane x Blake: This is the story that I created the comic off of and have at least two more planned. It's about Kane who creates a gang when he's in middle school and Blake who is his muscle who wants desperately to just be a cute little housewife. Born to be a housewife, forced to be the muscle for a gang leader. Kane is insane but I love him, he's also a literal monster. This one has a lot of religious undertones (something that is present in a lot of my works).
Dani x Anthony: One of my older works that is being changed slightly and also one of only three straight couples I have. And even then both of them are bi. It's a holiday story about Dani who comes home from studying abroad and falls in love with her former academic rival Anthony who is a massively prissy fancy boy. He's a more fancy frat boy where if it were up to him he wouldn't be a part of a frat but it's the only way his rich father will pay for his college. Also while it's straight Dani does not bottom. Pegging all the way.
Youtuber siblings: And my 2 straight couple. Who is actually straight. Leah is the younger sister of a famous rather intense vlogger Noah. I don't actually know too much about their story but it's probably going to involve Leah doing some murder because she's a boss-ass bitch. Also, she's friends with Luca who is a closeted gay boy who crossdresses and pretends to be her girlfriend to make her look good.
Loving Family ;): This is the one that Envy, June, Robin, and Alex belong to. It's going to be two stories, one about Envy and June and the other about Robin and Alex. It was mostly created because I realized that I didn't have a lesbian incest story and I had to complete the trio. Also, Envy and Robin are both trans, Envy being a trans woman who is decently masc and Robin is a trans man who dresses rather femininely. And I went with that 1) because I think masc trans women are hot and 2) they are underrepresented. Also while the main couples are Envy x June and Alex x Robin I have idea for a lot of combinations of the four siblings.
Omegaverse Private School: Look I just wanted to write about a young alpha who got bitched and now has to attend an all omega private school. His name is Riley and he's very buff and pretty. Then you have his alpha who happens to be his teacher Louis. They weren't planning on the bitching happening but they did anyways. Then you have Riley's roommate Al who is an omega who is dating another omega Vivienne and Al is planning on transitioning into an alpha when she graduates and gets away from her shitty parents.
Queer Vent: About a 20-something-year-old girl Maya and her girlfriend Cas who go to Maya's family/s for Christmas. And it's basically just a self-insert about my own relationship with a family that just never acknowledges my queerness. You always hear about families where they are explicitly homophobic but not the quiet kind of homophobia where your family just never talks about it but like you know they're not accepting.
Modern Greek Myth Retellings: It's what it sounds like. I (like so many queer people) have always had a love of Greek mythology and I want to do modern Greek myth retellings. I would love to hear about other people's favorite myths because I don't know enough. I only have one done so far and that is a fun modern Narcissus retelling for a short story contest.
Revelations Inspired Short Stories: I also have a bit of an obsession with religion specifically Christianity and also cults. So currently I have just two planned. One with Jesus who is a queer polyamorous teen who hates his father and the angel Gabriel who follows him around. Then you have my anti christ who doesn't have a name who happens to be a teen girl cheerleader who has no interest in the world ending. Also, she lives with both of her parents including Satan himself and her father. Who you could technically call her mother as he gave birth to her.
Chronos x Gabriel: Chronos is an older disabled veteran who is now a cowboy. Gabriel is a gay teen party boy who is the son of some kind of politician. It's another older story that I am revamping and turning more modern. I don't actually have much of a story for it. Current thought is something about the troubled teen industry.
Wolfman x Dogwomen x Catboy: Look these characters started off as a self insert joke in middle school with two of my at the time best friends. My main character is a cat boy named Kat because it's a shortened version of the joke name that I will not be revealing. He's a grumpy emo cat boy who used to be the pet of a rich family until he was kicked out for kissing their son. Then you have Hannah (the former self-insert) who is a middle 20's dog girl who works part time as a dominatrix. Then Maverick (which may or may not be his final name) who was based on my middle school best friend's edgy wolf self-insert. He's a wolfman who is an office worker because it's one of the few jobs he can get as a hybrid. It starts with Hannah and Maverick who have been dating since middle school and are also in a pretty big poly relationship with a lot of their middle/high school friends and they pick up young Kat off the street. And he falls in love with them.
Alice in Wonderland Twins: I love Alice in Wonderland so of course here is my own take on it. It has twins Alice and Alec who fall into Wonderland. Where Alice falls for the Mad Hatter (my third and last straight couple) where Mad Hatter hates the fact that he's in love with this young girl. And Alec falls for the Chesire Cat and that one has a lot less guilt.
Little Red Riding Hood: Similar to Alice in Wonderland in that I wanted to do my own version of Little Red Riding Hood. This time though it's gay. You have Red who lived with his grandmother when he was a kid and then came back to live with his parents. Only to be sent back to his grandmother's small village. Now this one has two different ways it could go. One is that he falls in love with his childhood crush who broke his heart and is a massive dick who is the huntsman. Or you have him fall for his grandmothers new farm hand who is the big bad wolf.
Used To Be About Zombies :/: I've always loved the zombie apocalypse and I wanted to create my own zombie apocalypse story in middle school. And then I realized I can't really write that kind of thing so now they're not in the apocalypse. I love all these characters but no longer had a story for any of them but then realised they're my own characters. I could just stick them in whatever scenarios I wanted. You have my sad gay whore Nic whose first boyfriend took advantage of him and made him very hypersexual. Think Angel Dust but before I knew of him. Then you have his crush who is older than him Tom who is a massively Christian man who is very repressed and it takes him a long time to realize that he's bi. Also, I just realized they are basically just Huskerdust but this was before I knew of these characters. Then you have Tom's younger sister and Nic's best friend Maddie who is much more liberal. And also not only is she very accepting of her own bisexuality. And dating Valerie, a trans girl who is very shy but also very kind.

content: guns, violence
hot take for (suburban) Americans and Brits but personally I believe weaponry ought to be taught at key points in life, more widely. we need to become more comfortable with it.
like here are weapons, knives, guns. here's how to use them responsibility, here is their history and the power they have, the maturity they require. Here is how to fight. here is the code and the honor you need to follow to do so ethically.
Conservative rural folks teach their boys this shit, but often carelessly, without the weight it deserves. And when they're white, they end up paranoid and extremely dangerous. Don't get me started on military guys - not vets, but 3%ers and military guys and cops.
if you, like me, have been restricted from this intimacy or fear it, you can begin to learn through getting in touch with historical reenactors, LARPers, martial arts school, or going to a shooting range.
but I do mean culturally, this should be a valid option for study OUTSIDE the military or police force.
if People are ever going to gain power, we need to remember what it is culturally intimate with death, power and violence, not because it's good but because you quickly get your ego and delusions checked when you actually get in contact with dangerous arts, the art of war. it's like fire bending. It's not a fun game, it's an art of protection and power. That ultimately is best used for creativity but has the potential for destruction.
Again this is a message mostly for white people, and those who consider themselves liberal and leftist but idk, think hunting is bad or that ACAB is more about the cops HAVING guns than their history of social control.
street kids know it and learn it from having to scrap for their lives. Hannah Arendt wrote about the comradeship and solidarity experienced by guerilla freedom fighters in France under occupation. it's something most of the world has to be familiar with. war isn't just Big War, there are constant proxy wars leaving devastation and trauma everywhere that colonialism has scraped its nails, but also there are freedom fighters training, factions.
To be clear I also don't believe that violent bloody revolution is a GOAL. It's not FUN. it SUCKS. fantasizing about it is juvenile.
I do however think that violence is a possibility, a probability that requires intimacy with it to survive. Sort of how you vaccinate to familiarize your immune system with what it will need to develop antibodies for.
It's like sex. Kids are going to do it especially if they're desperate, abstinence only education doesn't work. In this case, it kills.
I am not saying guns should be widely accessible and unregulated (complex topic esp w racism but) I'm saying it's normal and human to have a warrior class and subduing that section of ourselves or expressing it through nationalistic brutality and service to domination is obviously Not It. A big part of that is tech and the distance of drone strikes and guns and bombs allowed cowardice (topic for another time).
I'm saying it's psychologically well adjusted to learn about death and instruments of death in a world where they inarguably exist and can and will be used against civilians and protestors and activists and Indigenous folks and actually insane to think that ignorance will protect anyone.
Also extending an invitation to other white people to explore how their relationship with violence and fear of it might have been shaped by things like anti-Blackness, slavery, colonialism, or generally cultural insulation from the need to fight for ones fucking life or money or right to exist
#i don't think you need to tell anyone who grew up around gang violence this#like gangs usually form FOR PROTECTION#but okay im not gonna get out of my depth here#its not my experience#but yeah idk you cant stay as innocent and kind as you want to in these times without privilege#OR PROTECTORS#anyways#gangs#violence#gun control

are other leftist americans who support various stricter gun measures feeling like they should get a gun? because i’m beginning to feel very unsafe for a multitude of reasons. i'm feeling anxiety about the safety of people i know. almost every reason can be boiled down to insane conservatives who already have an often times excessive amount of firearms and are projecting their ignorance, fears, and hatred onto other people in frightening ways. i feel like a hypocrite in some ways for thinking about this. not only that but i don't really want a gun. guns don't interest me in the slightest.
a normal person who allegedly lives in an allegedly extremely wealthy and an allegedly normal country who does not hunt should have no distinct need for a firearm in every day life. however, gun violence is out of control. other countries on par with the united states like australia and western european nations do not experience this same level of gun violence. but how, without my own gun, am i supposed to stand a chance against braindead "patriots" who are eventually going to figure out they can kill people they disagree with or groups they are for whatever reason afraid of? some extremists already know that but the mainstrain hivemind hasn't quite made this jump into incurable insanity yet. but i see it happening and it is closer than people think. i hate that i'm feeling forced into owning weaponry to "protect myself" because its the oldest and stupidest cliche in the book when it comes to firearms.
i have studied enough history and traveled to enough historically important places to know that certain moves conservatives are making in this country right now are indicative of a larger, far more insidious goal. there is a clear and transparent pattern that alarms me on a daily basis.
i can only laugh because if you remove the part about studying and traveling in the paragraph above, and change out conservatives for "democrats" (because obviously everyone who is not conservative is a democrat) it sounds like an insane right-wing take that isn't based in reality. it sounds like an uneducated or otherwise historically ignorant conservative who failed history class heard that paragraph and flipped it back around like "i know u are but what am i???!!!"
which then makes me stop laughing because conservatives actually do that. these people vote. i think everyone should vote but holy fuck why are there SO MANY PEOPLE like that?? these are the people that scare me, because they can so easily get manipulated en masse by some sociopath who wants to make a name for himself in history. just look at trump fanatics for fuck's sake. that was the test run.
