When we get a new Frostheim chapter in 10 months and I turn out to be wrong I'm deleting my blog. spoilers until the end of episode 13

Alprazolam: anti-anxiety drug and muscle relaxant. For anxiety, depression, insomnia, and physical symptoms caused by psychosomoatic disorders. Highly addictive.

Jin keeps talking about having what I assume are muscle cramps on his homescreen. Tohma has a physical therapy license because Jin told him to get one. He tells MC to get one too, and asks her to massage his back later. He seems to have more of them after an active day...

Jin 's Homescreen lines hint at anxiety: His April Fool's line:

“Hey, are you all right? …Tsk. If that was a joke, it wasn’t fucking funny. I’ve changed my mind. Cancel all my plans for the day.”

He's normally short-tempered, so it's not really out of character, but could it be that she set off his anxiety and he's reacts by getting angry and also shutting himself in?

Absence at Affinity 13+

“Shit… This is throwing me off. Who does that servant think she is?”

This is one of the stronger reactions to MC's absence. I think it's possible that Jin deals with his anxiety by lashing out at people and acting like it's not personal. And, a little damningly:

His Magic Nightmare Mirror basically showed him Tohma leaving him. He promptly decided to stalk Tohma at night to make sure it wasn't true, even if he later says, "At first I didn't believe it." Was his belief won over by feelings of anxiety, so he decided to follow Tohma to make sure? (And then was even more crushed when it did actually appear to be true?)

When he runs into MC, she describes him like this:

The light from the nearby streat lamp wavered in his eyes, punctuating his uncertainty.

He then takes her hand to guide her to Vagastrom. Later:

MC: But... if Tohma's in Vagastrom now, that means... Jin: ... He's the spy. I felt Jin's hand tighten around mine slightly.

He didn't need to take her hand at all. He could have just told her to follow him. For comfort? To ground himself? Just because he was mad and I'm overthinking things? Specifically inserted for no other reason than shipbait with MC? Not clear to me. On Jin and insomnia:

Jin's quotes start at 5AM-11AM. Most of them imply that he's tired and trying to sleep.

Two of Tohma's 11AM-4PM quotes are involve waking Jin up. In one of them, he says:

“How delightful… It seems our king’s peaceful slumber has yet to be disturbed.”

It could just be sarcasm, but he might just be saying that he's pleased to see Jin sleeping.

Physical symptoms + Psychosomoatic disorders: I didn't know what this was so I googled it:

"A psychosomatic disorder happens when mental stress and distress cause or make a physical condition worse."

Could not being able to use your stigma be considered a physical condition?

The Clash and Frostheim's social environment is probably pretty stressful.

Not much of an argument, since it definitely could be that the stigma stopped for unrelated reasons.

Jin and Depression:

I guess you could theorize that the reason he passed off most of his Dorm Head responsibilities to Tohma is because he doesn't have the energy to do it.

There's nothing in the text to support it though so this doesn't count.

The drug fits 3/5 symptoms, which isn't too bad. I do think that Jin tends to overreact to things and then lash out at people (by people I mean Tohma). Could this be what Tohma told Leo that Jin was a very delicate individual? Plus, something very important that I noticed in the confrontation between Leo and Tohma:

Leo stepped between the two of them (Jin and Tohma, waving a small bag of pills in one hand.

Leo is between the two of them. If he's facing Tohma, he's probably not going to have a clear view of Jin's face.

Leo read from the phone in his free hand, glancing up at Tohma with a tilt of his head.

Tohma smiled nonchalantly. Beside him, Alan clenched his jaw. But Leo only gave an annoyed shrug, fixing his eyes on Tohma's face.

It's more or less spelled out that Leo is staring only at Tohma alone to see how he takes the new. looks at Jin. The writers describe everyone face but his. It could be just coincidence, but it could be a way for the writers to hide the big reveal. The player is never told. The guy who live laugh loves by stealing secrets and blackmailing people never turns around to take a look at the Jin's face. This is isn't really concrete evidence because they really could've just forgot... Maybe Leo's Tohma-hating heart just wanted to catch Tohma red-handed so bad that he couldn't look away... But in my heart I believe... Maybe.... Some questions I thought about:

Leo mentions that the prescription is filled very often and that it's highly addictive. It's possible that Jin developed an addiction or tolerance to the drugs which leads to needing more all at once.

The writers really like foreshadowing this kind of stuff on most of the characters having a "hidden side" to them. Maybe they just ditched accuracy so players could think about Jin's secret? They're pretty limited by 2D models on static backgrounds, so the voice lines are probably the easiest way to hint at the player.

Maybe the symptoms are bad enough that his last dosage wasn't enough to 100% stop it, so now he's actually risking addiction.

Other Misc. Notes

Tohma does actually take medicine (as seen in Chapter 1). I think there could be a twist that he's taking meds completely unrelated to the situation? Maybe the scene was a red herring...

It's a little strange that Tohma carries his pills in a legal prescription bottle vs. Leo just whipping them out in a plastic bag he blackmailed off of a Mortkranken student. Not evidence so much as a point of interest to me. Leo might've just been handed a sample. Or he could've very well just opened the bottle and personally put it in a plastic bag. Who knows?

Tohma's pills are more orange, Leo's pills are more red... This may, however, be entirely due to lighting.

Imma rant about Ichigo and Orihime cuz your blog has waken a outrageous fire in me!! And rightfully so! I agree with literally everything you said(btw Karin and hitsugaya are endgame for me too🤭🤭)

Ichihime makes literal sense and it genuinely sucks as a ship and i don't get why the shippers are satisfied with the results. I asked my friend who he wanted to be endgame and answered Ichigo and Orihime cuz they are a better fit. LITERALLY HOW?!! I didn't go psycho on him cuz if Ichigo and Rukia ain't your cup of tea then fine. But why are people answers automatically always Ichihime?? Is it cuz they are canon??? Where the hell was the build-up for it then?! It is nothing compare to ichigo/rukia or orihime with tatsuki/uryu. Idk if Kubo was trying to punk us by pairing them up or not. I feel like he didn't plan our their relationship properly! People say it was obvious from the beginning that ichigo likes her back but i sure as hell didn't see it! Maybe i'm just salty and refused to see the signs cuz Ichiruki is the best ship( and i had a crush on ichigo since forever soooo... 😖😖) ?? I've always been a rukia and ichigo fan rather cuz they actually had the chemistry and insane connection. I'm so mad that they weren't endgame. My girl Rukia was elite why didn't Ichigo went for her and vice versa?? Don't get me started on the poems, the speechs, the way ichigo always and always thinks of rukia. Like the ingredients for the cake was perfect, why the hell would you put gasoline in there💀💀

Some people say that cuz the show is shounen and not a romance, i shouldn't be upset about ichihime ending up together and not be mad of lack of their romance. I'm not expecting ichigo and orihime to have some epic EPIC love story or anything just make it more sense for ME at least. If Ichihime was some side-ship then i wouldn't care as much, but this is the MC of the show i want to see something greater than what we received! If they were to have a love story(ya know a real one) then they should've played it out like in Fruits basket

Ichigo and orihime actually remind me alot of kyo and tohru from fruits basket. And they're all very similar to think about it! Ichigo and Kyo: the grumpy orange haired protecters that have a heart of gold. Orihime and Tohru: the loveable sunshine character that are super traumatized but still manage to keep smiling. The only difference is that Kyo and Tohru actually have the emotional moments and had the chemistry and ya know they actually TALKED and were ACTUAL FRIENDS(as in kyo didn't treat tohru like a acquaintance) before dating. But since Orihime is so much like Ichigo's dead mom, their relationship would've been like Yuki and Tohru. I know the comparison might be dumb to do cuz they are very different anime and different genre but still!! Excuse me for caring so much about that my fav ain't canon. Yes this is a shounen anime but they could've at least squeezed in a bit of the love story of the mc to show they actually care about it. The MC of the show has a better and stronger bond with his bestie than his own wife. Like how is my girl Orihime not bothered by it?! Should've end up Tatsuku i swear. I mean they're literally Nana and Hachi!! 🍓🐶✨

I feel like orihime just exist to be his love interest and that's it! Girl had the potential to be a great character that ain't always there to be the love interest. Her becoming a housewife was insulting cuz what do you mean she ain't a robot destroying a city (i can't remember that scene from the earlier seasons but something in between those lines🤣) I do like Orihime enough but not that much cuz it's Ichigo this and Ichigo that. Like girl i get it. I wanted(and still do) him too but don't settle for being the second choice) HOMEGIRL YOU HAVE OTHER LUCKY DUCKS THAT WANNA BE WITH YOU!!

And another thing: I read somewhere that: just cuz Uryu had a crush Orihime that, that doesn't mean that Orihime should be together with him.... Okay then why can't that also imply to Ichigo and Orihime?? Like why just cuz "She'll fall for him in every lifetime" doesn't mean that he has to do the same too!! Rukia is already the queen of his heart mind you

BUT ANYWAYS!! It's a shounen after all so i shouldn't be expecting the mc to have a well-written love story and not to have high hopes of the MC love interest to be something more than that. But whatever at the end of the day they're CANON and have a kid together so all i can do is cry about it and live in fanfiction.

Not surprised your male friend would choose Ori. Typical. For dudes like him, her appearance, superficial crush on Ichigo, & the word "canon" being slapped on are enough for them, despite there not being any actual chemistry between IH. It is also a common trope in other manga/anime, so they convince themselves that it was meant to happen, but it doesn't mean it makes sense for every story, especially not in Bleach's case; it doesn't make narrative sense if they actually looked into it.

(Canon ≠ good. Just look up what went wrong in 'How I Met Your Mother' or even 'Game Of Thrones' S8).

(While on the subject, since Rukia is a much better written character than Ori, if she had a body like Ori's, & Ori like Rukia's, even less dudes would care about IH 🫢, since they never even have good arguments in favor of it that aren't the 3 things I mentioned already up top).

Ichigo & Rukia had the most chemistry in the entire manga/anime, & it baffles me when people didn't/don't (wanna) see it. I went into Bleach almost blind when I first started watching it & IR really stood out. Their bond is right in your face, playing along the border between platonic & romantic, making you wonder what exactly it is, but knowing they aren't just mere friends. In the manga, I was constantly awed & amused by how borderline romantic it came off as, despite having already watched the anime (which did not do the manga justice in many ways; and then antis claim IR was mostly anime-based, PLEASE 🙄). Kubo really wasn't playing when it came to these 2. What a freakin' troll.

Haven't watched Fruits Basket, but I can see what you mean. Grumpy & Sunshine is a fun trope, however, as you said, IH just didn't have what it takes. If Kubo had wanted to, he could have properly developed IH at some points in the manga, such as the Fullbring arc, & it wouldn't have to be anything big, as Bleach is not a romance. He could have opened the arc with those 2 already going out, like them holding hands as they head to school or something, maybe showing some flashbacks of them talking things out, comforting each other since HM to show how they got together. Instead, in those 17 months since Ichigo lost his powers & contact with Rukia, you're telling me Kubo couldn't make IH bond? Instead, Ori's still pathetically pining after him while Ichigo is still thinking of, longing for, Rukia! How am I supposed to believe IH was meant to be endgame?!

Orihime had more chemistry with other people than the man she ended up with 💀. I personally ship her with 2 other men (Ishida & Ulquiorra). She was different with them. One selflessly cared for her, had her at the forefront of his mind in her own rescue arc (unlike Ichigo), while the other challenged her, found her fascinating & wanted to learn more... Not to mention they both protected her from Ichigo a couple times in the HM arc.

She really did have potential to be a great character but it all kept going down the drain, never achieved her dreams nor goals. She kept regressing as the story went on, especially when it came to Ichigo. She was never able to encourage him nor fully support him & was usually a complete damsel in his presence (he even seemed annoyed by her during the Ywach fight, which mind u, she was only there cuz there was no one else left & Ichigo had no choice?). She was more interesting whenever she wasn't around him. All her best moments were when she wasn't thinking about him. Saving Tatsuki? Bonding with Ishida in SS, standing in front of him to protect him in the Fullbring arc? Bonding with Ulquiorra (the only good thing she did the whole HM arc)? She could've done more in HM but didn't. In TYBW, she didn't do anything special, couldn't even encourage Ichigo & was treated like a ragdoll by Ywach. This is how Kubo wanted us to remember her. She was mostly reduced to fanservice by the end (and she's still not as popular as Matsumoto or Yoruichi in that department 💀). I sometimes think he didn't like her all that much with how he treated her character...

While watching the anime, I seriously had been hoping she'd get over Ichigo in the SS arc when she wistfully said Rukia was a very special person to him who changed his world (oh, boy, was I in for disappointment). Right off the bat, there was nothing interesting/exciting about her interactions with Ichigo (I was shipping her with Ishida by this point). He was just so blasé with her, I almost felt bad for her & it only kept getting worse. I then hoped she'd finally get over him after the traumatic experience at the dome in HM, but her ongoing silly crush made my eyes roll & lose hope in it. LIKE GIRL, HE'S HUNG UP ON ANOTHER GIRL, & U SHOULD'VE STOPPED PUTTING HIM ON A PEDESTAL BY NOW; HE'S NO PRINCE CHARMING & ESPECIALLY NOT FOR U WHEN HE BARELY GAVE U A SECOND THOUGHT IN UR OWN RESCUE ARC & ALMOST GOT U KILLED LIKE 3 TIMES & U HAD TO GET SAVED BY ULQUIORRA & ISHIDA, LIKE-

Orihime doesn't have anything in common with Masaki other than maybe their appearance (which imo, Masaki looks more like short-haired Matsumoto anyway?). Besides the cheerful part, their personalities are very different. Masaki was more like Rukia: brave, strong, selfless, teasing & annoying Isshin/Ichigo, etc... IR has actual dynamic parallels with IsshiMasa in the narrative... Kubo just copied IR moments, especially considering he wrote as he went... So, don't be fooled by those morons who go by appearance alone & even those weird lines in one of the novels (Oedipus complex anyone?) instead of the legitimate parallels between IR & IM shown in the manga, such as these:

What was going thru Kubo's head if he supposedly "intended" for IH to happen? Ichigo & Ori had more chemistry with other characters than with each other. Kubo went about this all wrong. Bleach not being a romance is no excuse for shoddily pairing up characters in the end. In a few scenes scattered throughout the manga, he could've implied them. Every time they interacted, their relationship should've progressed somehow. And he actually did this with IchiRuki. (In regards to Naruto, for example, Kishimoto at least admitted he didn't put enough effort into his ships by saying romance was not his forte & he's not good at writing female characters, but at least most of the ships made sense & esp NaruHina had actual good moments scattered throughout the manga...).

Sigh, I've said this before, but why can't more battle shounens be like Fairy Tail when it comes to developing the ships throughout the story? There'd be less drama. Even Gintama did a better job at developing the main ships, lol, that if they became canon, hardly anyone would've been surprised (they were somewhat implied if u squint, tho 🤪).

There are theories Kubo wanted to spite Shounen Jump for their treatment over the years so he ended things this way (and maybe to spite the fans too, since his manga sales had been on the decline for years). Ever heard of the "choosing unhappiness" theories? Basically, remember that Ywach said he'd come back at Ichigo's happiest moment? Well, he didn't come back at Ichigo's wedding with Ori, not even at the birth of his son. He came back when Ichigo reunited with RUKIA after 10 years.

So what could this be telling us? That Ichigo chose to be unhappy by not getting with the one person who made him the happiest. Rukia gave him that push by choosing unhappiness first (since she knew Ichigo couldn't make the first attempt to) & married Renji, who in turn, also gave Ichigo that push to go for Ori. IR chose unhappiness to defeat Ywach. Could this actually be what Urahara meant when he said he'd leave everything to "Kurosaki-san & Kuchiki-san" after his defeat in TYBW?! (we deserved the IR tag-team we never got in the final fight, screw Kubo)

One could also say his friends chose unhappiness to help too? Ishida becoming a doctor he'd never expressed interest in & seeming isolated from the friend group (maybe not agreeing with the farce they're all in), Chad becoming a boxer instead of using his fists to protect, Ori marrying a man who doesn't love her & she knows never will, Renji marrying a woman who doesn't love him & never will (and whom I think he doesn't love either? My view on that here)... Isshin is nowhere in sight, could it be he also doesn't wanna be a part of this farce in which his own son chose to marry a woman he doesn't love?

Still, everything about this ending is so wrong, makes no sense, a bunch of retcons too. Heck, remember the rebuilding of Sokyoku Hill in SS? Made Ichigo destroying it meaningless 🙄.

Anyway, I didn't mean for this post to be too long. There's so much to rant about lol. There's also so much to make fun of 👀. As I said in this post, IH was never popular & never will be. Kubo himself can't bring himself to give them content & his affiliates (like Shounen Jump, Studio Pierrot, etc.) can't be bothered either, as IH doesn't sell. Canon for almost 10 years & still no official couple/family arts nor merch 😂. If they end up getting thrown a bone in the future, the fact it took them that long would still be laughable.

In the end, it's best to ignore canon, its fans, & engage with what you like. It also doesn't hurt to sometimes make fun of Bleach's failures~ Kubo has made it so easy, can you blame us? 🤷‍♀️

You and Malleus are getting closer. And that starts to worry you. You need to tell him as soon as possible, before his feelings get too strong. You don't want to hurt him.

It's not you who finds him. It's never you who finds him. He is the one who comes to you, always. And that is what happens. You see him in front of the Ramshackle Dorm through your window. And he is smiling at you. You just hope you don't turn that smile on your sad face.

You get outside, and head over to him. He greets you with "Good night, Child of Man" and a smile. You greet him back and ask him what is he doing there? Another one of his nocturnal walks?

He confirms, and starts talking about the stars and how beautiful they are that night, making you look at them too.

You decide to start by checking if he likes you that way. “Tsunotarou, do you like me? You know... more than... a mere friend?”

He chuckles “Do you genuinely believe that I would aloud anyone call me by a name like Tsunotarou, if I dislike them? Everyone but you would suffer serious consequences if they ever addressed me in such a way. I hope this is enough to show how special you are.”

You take a deep breath “I need to tell you something.” And you explain in your own way that you really like him too. Just as you are special to him, he is special to you. But you won't be able to express it the same way as others express it. But that doesn't mean that your feelings for him are less strong than the feelings of others. You try to explain it to him as best you can.

Malleus looks pensive, hand on chin and staring at nothing. You worry about his silence. “I don't understand. I mean, I understand the concept you explained to me, but I don't understand why you felt the need to tell me this.”

You explain to him that these kinds of things should be said before the other person's feelings get too strong to hurt them. And the last thing you want is to hurt him.

He smiles. “I certainly appreciate it. But you have no need to worry about that. The truth is that what you just described is the same as I feel for you. I understand that others can show their affection in different ways. But I also don't feel the desire to demonstrate mine in the same way as others. Do people think that that makes our feelings less... valid, perhaps?”

You tell him yes, and try to explain that because most other people feel the need for these types of displays of affection, they come to believe that if you don't show them, then you don't really love them.

He goes back to looking pensive, and a little sad. He sighs “How troublesome. But fascinating. Looks like I truly still have a lot to learn. Perhaps even about myself.” he looks at you, smiling “Worry not, Child of Man. My deepest feelings are the same as yours. And if any being dares to insinuate that they are not strong enough” he raises his hand in that menacing way. “I'll show them how strong pain can feel.”

your cheeks heat as you catch what he’s implying, and you have to turn away. asmo chuckles, but it sounds a little bit forced.

“i can’t believe we actually have to do this,” you groan.

“i mean, you can sleep on the floor,” he says airily, and you roll your eyes.

silence falls over you for a moment before he starts.

“wait! this is a great time to capitalize on our relationship online. we should go live!”

you bute your lip. “go live? are you sure that’s a good idea? what would we even talk about?”

his eyes sparkle as he leans into the idea, and you realize just how close the two of you are, even in your king bed. “well, we could do a relationship q&a! let all the fans ask the questions they’ve been dying to know.”

Idk if you've played the games (but anyway it's not important for you to know) but my s/i Wren doesn't follow the MC's story in the games. He's an aspiring conservationist who goes to alola on a study/research/outreach conservation programme for a few months. Becuz alola's inspiration is Hawaii irl and although I wouldn't go as a tourist irl it's nice to dream that I could go somewhere so uniquely biodiverse and help out in conservation which is also literally my ambition so when I selfship in that role it makes me happy...

Wren meets kiawe when they visit Wela volcano park one day to find a nice spot to view the sunset. Honestly the meeting lore is not fixed lol. Kiawe does his trial captain duties at the top of the volcano and he was done with his duties for the day and going to head down the volcano for his canon night job at the supermarket when he sees wren and is wondering who is up here when the sky is getting so dark plus some graveler (a pokemon) specifically happened to block some of the paths that day lol idk. So becuz he felt he has a duty to look after the people and pokemon he wanted to accompany wren down cuz the paths are rocky. And then wren is like but I want to see the sunset he's like ok fine I know the best places to see it follow me. Okay so that was the first meeting

Subsequently wren just meets Kiawe at the volcano increasingly often, from like twice a week to 5 times a week to every day. Also wren's conservation thing is mainly on akala island (out of the 4 total islands in alola) which is also where Kiawe is from, and one of their research tasks was on the volcano so they met and talked and usually kiawe isn't super fond of foreigners he thought wren was some tourist but finding out he's doing some conservation thing he found it nice.

Yeah so they just got to know each other more and wren develops a crush first. For what draws me into him...

He studies traditional dances from his culture and hopes to study abroad and fulfil this passion of his, which is why he has that night shift at the supermarket but he also got laid off from it in canon 😭 And when you find out about it he says "it seems like nothing ever goes right..." and asks to battle you and says this after like ARRRRGHHHH

Like I just want to be able to encourage him that he cna achieve his dreams becuz he's one of the most hardworking and passionate people ever like he deserves everything

Also this, it's directly implying Kiawe is a romanticist becuz you get this Reverent battle style after battling him

And like it's so heartwarming to know this guy who has like a stoic exterior has sentiments like this, I'm honestly similar in this way that we're both sorta idealists. So I would like to sit him with and talk about our ambitions together especially becuz even though my primary interest is the natural world, culture is also my second biggest interest and for him it's the other way round.

Also in another game he said that other people don't really like his intensity, but his two friends Mallow and Lana don't mind, and thanks the player for also not minding. And his dad also said he's always been quite lonely and it's nice to see the MC be friends with him like 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 kiawe's such a genuine person but not the best at social interactions but when you get to know him I think he can be so generous and caring and humble and a great person to share your dreams with and achieve them together.

Also since he's a fire type pokemon trainer I associate him with red, fire, heat and the sun cuz he's so central to my world and a huge motivation and a person I can admire so much, so when I listen to music and read poems and stuff it's fun to find themes like this and think of my love for him Yes 😁

First watch. One of my profs recommended to the class and she said that we would be discussing it at our next meeting. That might have affected how I consumed it a lil but tbh not by too much. She also prefaced the movie by telling us that it was about the Filipino underground rapping scene. That def affected my experience watching because she did not go into the related themes of police brutality and poverty 😭 so yeah i kinda wasn’t expecting that (insert “i just wasn’t expecting it to be chinese..” vid)

So, Initial thoughts. It’s really well made. I’ve been kind of into opm, but I’m more of a soft rock and r&b enjoyer. This movie made me wanna listen to more hiphop/rap opm. I’ve also REALLY been wanting to get more into Filipino Cinema, and this is exactly the kind of story that I think our entertainment industry needs to really push for.

Some random details and notes that I liked. I loved how they implied what happened with Doc’s family before the reveal. Like the scenes where he would see his wife, they always had people talking about Martial Law or Marcos talking over the radio. (It made me sad that this was made during the Duterte Admin, and now Marcos has taken over once again.) The imagery with the pages falling was also really cool and symbolic.

Another thing I found really interesting was when Hendrix, the mc, gets pushed down into what’s probably his lowest point. He gets humiliated, then the guy who beats him up even r*pes the girl he’s interested in. But, he doesn’t do anything. He’s complacent in it. He lets it happen. Up until this point, all the moments of his life in this movie is filled with the sound of Hendrix’s rapping. Whether it’s out loud with his friends or just in his mind. There are specific places that the audience gets used to hearing him rap or listen to music in.

But, after his experience as a bystander to the SA of his crush, these places just become silent. He can’t just escape into music anymore.

There’s so much more I could say about it, about how despite the hopeful buildup for Hendrix’s character, he ends up another tragic victim of his circumstances. I’d also love to say something about all of the shots and the color grading of the film but I can’t really verbalize my feelings on it rn and also I’m really eepy so I won’t

Honestly I don’t really have any issues with the movie? 9.5/10 took .5 away just because its not personally a movie i’d love rewatching over and over, but it’s def one I would revisit in my mind.

Homesickness was hitting you hard as the weather warmed up and the flowers around Ramshackle began to bloom. In an effort to combat this, you spent most of your free time gathering flowers and weaving them together. Back in your world, it would have been Ivan Kupala today, and even though that didn’t matter to Crowley you were not about to give up one of the parts of your culture that brought you comfort.

Once the wreath was finished, ribbons and candles decorating the woven flowers, you made your way down to the mini creek that passed through the Botanical Gardens. It ran throughout the whole campus and from what you remember the Science Club was often tasked with checking the water purity to make sure the natural beauty of the water was preserved.

Crouching down, you gently place the crown of flowers in the water. It bobs for a few seconds before drifting away, and you watch it go. Eventually it leaves the greenhouse and you can no longer see it, so you make your way back to Ramshackle.

A knock on the door stops you from sweeping, and you can’t help but be confused. There’s no one aside from Malleus that would visit you, but he isn’t normally here at this hour. You explain what that wreath means, stumbling over your words when you get the part about how the first man to pick up your wreath would be your future husband. Riddle’s face is turning red by the second, his lips wobbly and eyes wide.

“Ah, pardon me then.” he blurts out, fumbling as he hands you the wreath like he’s in a rush to leave, “I…didn’t mean to imply such a thing, I’m so sorry-”

“Hey, hey! It’s okay. I wouldn’t want it to be anyone else.” you try your best to smile as he freezes in place, hands clearly shaking from nerves.

He swallows thickly, peeking at you through his lashes.

“Well, uh- in that case, it would- be my pleasure to, um- I mean, I would love to…” he winces before taking a deep breath in an attempt to regain his composure, “I wouldn’t mind courting you. Shall I begin the process, or...?”

Even if she they said that "it's just a drawing! it's not a big deal!", then again every time there's an animation that features POC or people from non-christian religions (e.g. buddhists muslims, &c.) as the main characters, we called them "representation". So, what makes it so different when it's a child or a teenager on screen? Won't it represents children/teenagers/young adults, too?

What I'm afraid of is not her mere statement, but what it might implies. If sauceribs' ways of thinking are like that, and they all now are adult, I'm afraid that they might let that mindset seeped into their every day's life. For example, they see a 20 yrs old something man hitting on a teenage girl and they'll be thinking "Oh yeah, that's totally fine. The girl definitely wants to be with him."

And that's on a very basic and very common example of what grooming looks like in our modern society. But there are also child predators who is unheard of with appearance like a good, law-abiding citizen. Who knows that one of them are a mangaka? 👀 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not saying that if you support sessrin then you'll become a pedophile. What I mean is that if you couldn't realize the disturbing nature of their relationship, it could potentially blind your judgement towards similar cases, real life or not.

That's a good analogy and I've been thinking about it, too. But after some pondering, I don't think those are the same thing. Because, in the case of murder, we have been thought ever since we're little kids that it's bad to hurt other living creatures. So, even if we watch anime/movies with the MC being a killer, we'll realized - albeit unconsciously - that that's a wrong thing and we shouldn't do that. Only in some unfortunate (and extreme) cases where people are actually get inspired to murder other people or kill animals after watching anime/movies with that theme.... [1] [2].

Meanwhile, as for the case of grooming &/ other sexual abuse, we learned about all of that only recently, and just bit by bit too, thanks to the increased interest in law protection for women and especially for survivors who are brave enough to share their stories. Most of the time we can't sniffed it out immediately, particularly if we haven't known the couple for a long time or their background stories, because we've been told that "it's not our business" to know what's happening between a couple. That's why seeing a seemingly innocent couple in an anime/movie and being told "that man/woman sexually abuses his/her partner!" feels like a foreign thing to us, and of course for the die hard fans of the couple it feels like an insult hence the denial and deflection.

Again, if you wanna ask "wtf does the anime/movies couples hv to do with rl cases? 👿👿". Then I wanna ask you too, can you look at a teenager or a young adult who has been a real victim of sexual abuse and think "poor little thing..." but then proceed to watch an anime/movie that portrays a character with similar backstory? Will you be irked by the similarity or will you keep gushing over it?

In conclusion, justifying/normalizing sexual abuse in a mainstream media can leads you to justifying/normalizing sexual abuse in real life, too.

So uh... I binged through a first run of Our Life: Beginning and Always last night and today. The free base game, no additional DLC. And I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT.

As I do for all otomes/romance games, I played blindly and made the choices I liked most on a first run, practically never reloading to pick different outcomes. I also strived to make the MC as close to me in terms of appearance/personality/etc. as possible, since that was an option here.

If anyone’s curious, I went for direct indifference at step one (since I barely knew/cared about Cove at first and have always been rather honest/blunt about my feelings), then direct fondness step 2 (it definitely felt like we were friends by the end of step 1, so...), then nervous crush step 3. I definitely wanted a romantic (or possibly never-acted upon romantic) ending, and after everyone teasing/implying the relationship was like that or heading in that direction, combined with Cove repeatedly sneaking into MC’s room it felt like the right time.

I went nervous because, well, developing feelings for a friend is bound to make things super awkward and leave you feeling less comfortable. I noticed that starting in step 3 people starting calling Jamie shy and reserved, and I’m not sure if that’s a result of me picking nervous (because I was under the impression those choices only related to how she related to Cove but maybe I’m wrong) or my prior choices of mostly being non-confrontational and passive led to that.

I had decided immediately I WAS NOT going to confess to him, because realistically I’d never risk sabotaging a friendship like that. I played MC often getting flustered but happy when Cove flirted with her and very occasionally made somewhat flirty banter myself, but I shied away from strong advances and never told him how I felt when presented the opportunity.

When our friends were “fighting” and things got heated, I rode things out and managed to calm him down. I finally told him about the $20 deal his dad had given me afterward, and thankfully he laughed it off. I’m sure in earlier steps he might not have been so receptive to that truth, so I took it as a sign of his growth and also how close we’d gotten.

I actually got a seemingly rare outcome of Cove confessing to me at the end of step 3 - it’s about 20% achieved on Steam and there are at least 3 different threads on the forum asking how to get the outcome I literally got blindly. It was an outcome I was VERY happy with, though I was wondering while playing (and still wonder now) if it’s possible to create a scenario where there are clearly mutual feelings that both parties just NEVER confess to, for fear of ruining what they already have.

Since they ended off step 3 officially together (although I had MC going a little ways away for college, which made things pretty bittersweet, especially since she and Cove had FINALLY gotten together only two days prior) I used “relaxed love” for step 4 since I knew it would take place several years later. I figure after several years of dating you’d be entirely committed and casual/comfortable with your SO. I didn’t have them living together, but it was still obvious how close and cozy they were, which I loved. There were so many emotional/physical intimate moments in this step that cemented how happy they were together. There was much cuddling, hand-holding, and a little more on occasion to be had.

And to end things perfectly Cove proposed and we told literally all our friends and family. Which was sweet, albeit incredibly embarrassing. I had tried to play MC as “neutrally” towards marriage as possible since that’s my honest feelings. For me the important thing is being together and marriage doesn’t really change that, but I’m not opposed to it either.

I honestly LOVE how Cove remained so emotional and soft as he grew up. I know my choices impact his personality and appearance so I’m not sure how much of this was set in stone versus my choices affecting things, but he was a crybaby to the end and struggled SO HARD to confess and then to propose but that was honestly real and wonderful. “My” Cove was more studious than sporty, never ditched his glasses (though he often took them off), cut his hair a bit shorter in 3 only to grow it back longer than ever in 4, and patched his relationship up with his parents over time to the point that he was VERY close and loving with them both in the end. He was more slender than buff (which suited me fine), though he was still very into surfing and his ORCA responsibilities.

He was flawed, but he was perfect to me. I imagine many players went a very similar route to me and got nearly identical outcomes in terms of most of the major plot beats - though maybe they were brave enough to confess, or perhaps their Cove was more sporty than studious. My path just felt VERY organic and natural as they went from strangers to friends to potentially-more to happily committed to each other.

I absolutely intend to replay this again, and with the steps 1-3 DLC for much more content. There are so many variations I’m looking forward to trying. The fact that the base game is free is honestly stunning because I would happily pay 20, 30 bucks for it. I can already tell it has SO MUCH replay value, though I do wonder how much all the choices really matter. Outside of setting your preferences and obviously major decisions (like telling Cove about The Deal or whether to confess your feelings), a lot of them feel like they might just slightly change a specific conversation, but on the other hand there are some choices that SEEM relatively innocuous but have far-reaching consequences or at least callbacks/in-jokes.

I look forward to seeing how much Cove as a person changes in subsequent playthroughs and how much his dynamic with Jamie can be altered at every step. So glad I gave this game a try and I can’t recommend it enough - especially since the base game is free, so anyone can try it without spending a dime! If you give this game your time and love, it has SO MUCH potential content and love to give back to you.

Hey in very beginning of step 3 in the scene where Mr.Holden had a thought dancing on the tip of his tongue but he kept it to himself after MC and Cove were being cute (idk if it makes a difference but this is when they're dating)... Can we know what he was thinking/ wanted to say? It's been bugging me lol 

He would’ve gone into a “look how much you’ve grown”, “your dad is so proud of you”, “I’m so glad things worked out with the MC”, and etc spiel, haha. But he resisted the urge to fawn on his baby boy, at least for that scene.

If we planned to move away for college/future plans in step 3, is it implied that MC and Cove would have a long distance relationship for sure? Could MC have convinced Cove to come with them? How is the dynamic of their relationship going to be addressed in Step 4, if that makes sense? 

Cove is willing to follow the MC where they went after everything is settled for them there, and if they’re sure they want him to come! You’ll get to decide how things shook out during those transitional years just by making choices about it during the opening prologue of Step 4.

It stands for my old, silly username I used in places like Neopets as a kid, aha. The company name wasn’t super thought out since it was originally just me making VNs as a hobby. Luckily, “GB Patch” kind of seems like it could mean something reasonable, so I didn’t have to rebrand when it did become a more serious, commercial group.

If we chose to not propose to cove in the step 3 dlc would he propose or would the mc propose in step 4 or the wedding dlc? 

Yeah, you or Cove can propose in Step 4 if you’re not already engaged! The Wedding DLC takes place after the engagement so the proposal scenes aren’t there.

Heyy I just had a quick question about Baxter if that’s okay :)?

I saw in an ask+answer that it’s possible to casually date Baxter In step 3, but what leads up to that? I have the step 3 dlc and I’ve tried playing them In a different orders and ways but it doesn’t seem to get anywhere ^^;

The Step 3 DLC is Cove-based because he’s the default guy. There’s a separate Baxter romance DLC that’s not out yet. That’s where you can get him to date you. I’m sorry for the confusion!

Will we ever get any LI's or side characters with physical disabilities or deformities? I think your games would be a great place to have them in since they're always so accepting and safe!

Is it possible to get Cove to take the bed and MC to sleep on the floor? 

Not in Step 3, I’m afraid.

So, I have played the prologue of Our Life countless times and I haven't gotten the [Your Life] achievement, why is that? 

Steam sometimes isn’t connected properly when an achievement unlocks and so it remains locked on your account. If that happens, unfortunately getting the scene again won’t unlock it. The achievement becomes inaccessible because the game thinks you already have it. Playing with the same Steam account on a different device or fully deleting your game data (more than the only the save files) are the only work arounds we’ve found.

Since when you talk with Jeremy in step 3 it's mentioned he goes on dates with someone (which assume is JB because who else would take this boy on dates) that makes him happy, does that sort of make JB and Jeremy the canon relationship in the first game?

The default for XOXO Droplets is that JB casually goes on dates with each of the jerks! Shiloh would’ve been harsher if Jeremy was the only guy getting her attention, haha. But the player can change that default by dating just one person the whole game for their own story and who she ends up with for real has no default.

Hi, hello! Huge OL fan, thank you so much for the wholesome content, it was very much needed during these times. Managed to get several people to join team Cove, so that's very exciting, I always have people to fawn over him with. I have a little question and I'm sorry if it was asked before, but does it ever come up in the game what Cove has told his mom about us? (who knows, with so many options, one can miss it) Or, alternatively, will it come up in the Step 4 DLC?

Kyra is willing to keep her mouth shut and Cove isn’t gonna have that conversation either. At least not when he’s younger, but yes, perhaps when he’s a fully grown big boy in Step 4 you can ask him about it.

I’ve been thinking about this ever since it has been confirmed that there would be two love interests for OL2, would there be the possibility of forming a polyamorous relationship with both love interests? I’m sorry if you answered this previously, I’m just curious. 

We are considering it, but it’s not a guarantee yet. It’d be really great to have but it’d add so many extra alterations that’d need to made, aha.

Hello! You mentioned how Cove would be uncomfortable with kids at 23, but how old would he be when he’s comfortable with having/adopting kids? (Same goes for the other LI’s.) btw, love your game!! 

He’d want to be at least 25, but even older would be good. Derek would want to have kids when he and his partner could reasonably support them, the age itself wouldn’t matter. If they were doing good at 22 and wanted kids, he’d be up for it. Or they could wait until their 30s or whatever. Baxter is also more of a “when it feels right” guy rather than having a specific age requirement. Cove is just especially wary of being a young parent because of his own parents. I’m happy you like the game!

does step 4 immediately play after you press "end summer" in step 3? or is there another button/transition (like the story text thingy) before the epilogue begins? what happens after the epilogue? roll credits? 😂 

Step 4 will have transition section always and there will be an extra button, if you own the Derek or Baxter DLC. By default the Cove-based version of Step 4 just plays once Step 3 is over. However, having the other guys’ storylines will mean you get to pick which version of Step 4 plays; Cove Step 4 (the basic one), Derek Step 4, or Baxter Step 4.

Happy pride month! Unfortunately, Our Life isn’t available for Mac on Steam right now. To be an approval application Apple requires having special notarization and we as a small group haven’t gotten that. Itch doesn’t care and lets us release the game for Mac there anyway, Steam does care so we’re locked out of putting the Mac build up on their storefront. Hello! I was jus wondering if the Baxter and Derek DLCs are still happening? I haven’t heard anything about them on here or patreon in a while so I just wanted to make sure ^^

They’re still coming and we just released a new sprite sketch on the Patreon for the Derek DLC c:. But right now Step 4 is still much more of a priority. Once that’s closer to being done we’ll focus way more on sharing previews for the other guys.

is it possible to tell cove you love him (platonically) at step 3 fondness/selecting him as basically family? i just love the mc and liz sibling interactions and it got me wondering about it (especially if you've selected that option)

You and Cove can be as close as family, but there’s not a specific scene in Step 3 where you say “I love you” in a family context. But there’s always Step 4~

do you intend on ever adding a collectors mode to Our Life? Like a way to collect achievements and CGs for the gallery without it effecting any save files? 

We weren’t considering it before. But if a lot of players would find that helpful, we could start thinking on that!

Sorry if it's a silly question haha, but (in crush/love) is Cove really aware of how cute and cuddly he seems to MC? If so, what does he think or do about it? Or does he just ignore it? 

He isn’t particular aware. Cove never truly stops being surprised that the MC is interested in/attracted to him, haha.

Would you say that the alone ending of xoxo droplets is worth playing again to get? 

Nope, haha. The goal is to make friends/get a boyfriend and so the alone ending is kind of the bad ending for the game. Though there is a consolation prize if you get it by accident.

Is there any possible situation which would ever prompt Pran to bake for his girlfriend? Like I know it's unlikely I mean even if JB broke her leg somehow I'm pretty sure he'd still be like "I considered baking you a cake and doing the frosting the way I think looks interesting but you don't deserve a cake, no one does." right but also ahhh it would be super nice if some day he just surprised her with baked goods one day out of nowhere. JB would be so shocked it would be cute. So is there any possible situation where that could/would be a thing that he would do? 

He might bake out of spite, like if he felt he had to prove her wrong on something. Or if JB used some good reverse psychology on him. Or he might do it in a relatively nice way if he could make his GF so shocked by the kind gesture that his amusement with that overrode his insistence on not being sweet. Pran is very difficult in high school, aha.

Is the "one route (where) it can be seen that Everett will drop his seemingly eternal waging with Jeremy pretty easily and can start getting along without thinking much on it" the Lucas route? I'm curious! 

Yep! Everett will side with Jeremy if it’s between him and Lucas.

Step 4 is a free epilogue! It’s not done yet, but once it is finished you’ll just update your game file and Step 4 will be there after Step 3 ends.

They are. Step 4 is a free epilogue that’ll be a default part of the game once it’s done, the wedding DLC is an optional paid expansion that takes place after Step 4.

Why did Baxter not receive a step 2 sprite seeing how he shows up later

Sprites are time consuming to draw and take money out of the budget that could’ve gone to other things. His tiny appearance in Step 2 wasn’t worth all the effort to make a sprite, aha.

I just realized, what happens if if you get the patreon exclusive moment but at a later date, when you don't have the membership anymore, it's updated (like a bugs fix update for example)? Would you have to get the membership again? 

You would have to get the membership again to redownload the build. But there’s very little chance there’s going to be an update once it’s been out for over a month. If a build gets released with errors, players catch/report them within the first few days. So by the time the first subscription period ends, any problems that were noticeable would already have been fixed. And we’re certainly not gonna be adding new content to it once it’s been released for a long time. There’s no need to worry about missing out on something worthwhile in the future if you cancel your membership. It’s being made with the idea in mind that many players are gonna be getting it and then going.

Hello! Wanted to ask about gaming choice in step 3? Once upon a playthorugh I got the option to buy Cove a bracelet for his graduation present. I played the same basic character again and that option wasn't there anymore. I'm not sure where I went wrong. My Cove wears a bracelet on each hand and my MC is into fashion and jewelry. Do I need to put an earring on him or? Sorry, love your game so much. 

He also needs to have liked bracelets in Step 2 for that to be considered a good gift option for him. Sorry for the confusion! I’m happy you love the game :)

I’m not sure. Ideally they’ll come out at the same time, but the wedding DLC has a lot of art to get done and we may have to release it after Step 4.

Can mc still get confession from Cove at the end of step 3 even if mc casually dates Baxter in step 3? Such as in crush mode? 

I don’t think so. Maybe that’ll change, but generally there’s differences to the Step 3 ending if you were dating Baxter and those differences likely will conflict with getting the Cove confession.

For the patreon moments/dlcs, will it be available for all tiers?

Review/Walkthrough of 'Sweetest Valentine' [Yuzuki route, all endings]

1 day later, and it'll be Valentine's Day.

You're playing as Aimi (name changeable) (I will be playing under the name 'Mekora') and, of course you're not going to miss out going on a date during the special day.  The problem is, you'll have to choose between your childhood friend or your crush who doesn't seem to like you back.

Unfortunately, that isn't the only problem you'll be facing. 

In your hometown, some people have gone missing without a word. Whether they are killed or kidnapped, nobody knows. You might want to be careful so that you don't become one of them.

Ending 1 (Bad Ending 1):

This is my first playthrough (played with a walkthrough by the way) which can be found on the itch.io). To begin his route, you have to choose him when the mc decides who to give her valentines gift to.

You bring him inside your home and give him your gift, a lemon cheesecake and confess. He apologizes to you and informs you that he already has a lover (which is corrupted). The game glitches out and he changes his answer to 'I love you too'. When the MC asks him on a date, he confesses that he's planning to run away from home tomorrow. He stays at the MC's home to make it up to her.

The next day, MC wakes up with her head and body stinging and Yuzuki is cooking curry. MC tells him that his cooking will turn out perfect and Yuzuki becomes quiet (the music also disappears lmao). To unlock this ending, you have to choose to help him. You offer to lend him a hand and he asks you to get an onion. He then grabs your hand and cuts it then holds your hand (The one not connected to you anymore) and thanks you for lending a hand.

This ending made me laugh more than it should've.

Ending 2 (Bad Ending 2):

The same things happen until the option to either help him or let him be. For this one, you have to choose to let him be.

Thankfully he does not chop our hand up this time. MC and Yuzuki skip school. MC ponders why Ichigo hasn't come to wake her up. It is revealed that Ichigo was waiting outside the whole time (I assume). He considers revealing to the MC that Yuzuki is... and the thought ends with him scheming.

Yuzuki and MC read a book similar to the story and talk about trusting people then it turns a bit...weird. Yuzuki seems to imply that MC is a monster who is innocent on the outside. MC asks him why he keeps insisting on that and the mood changes, Yuzuki tells MC that he knows what she did.

MC is confused but the scene ends with Yuzuki being cut off.

We are brought to Ichigo and Haruto (The boy who dropped a gift box with a dead bird inside). Turns out Haruto is looking for Yuzuki. Ichigo lets him on a little secret, revealing what happened the other day, intentionally leading him to probably go to the MC's house.

We're brought back to the MC again and she's extremely confused. She finds Yuzuki reading and acting odd and after a few calls, Yuzuki reverts from a silent, almost-off look to his normal behavior. He tells her she collapsed. She goes to her bed and to unlock this ending, you have to open the window yourself. Obviously, Yuzuki pushes her down (probably) or she jumps.

This was confusing.

Ending 3 (Bad Ending 3):

The same thing, just pick the opposite of your previous choices (not the first one, don't try to smartass me). You have to let him be.

Ichigo and the MC call and MC seem to be oddly pissed off? informing Ichigo to mind his own business and not be too cocky and that he's just her childhood best friend then throws her phone

Yuzuki and MC talk about why they love each other and when its Yuzuki's turn. He gives a very vague answer and then tells her that's what she wanted to hear.

This is where my brain clicks and realizes 'Hey, I think the MC is doing some Monika stuff. She's trying to manipulate the narrative'.

Yuzuki asks her if she's gonna continue doing this or if she's going to face the truth. You have to run away to unlock this ending. When you do, he reverts back and promises never to mention the truth ever again, letting the MC live in her lies.

This was really cool and answered alot of my questions but we still need to know what's up with Ichigo.

Ending 4 (Bad Ending 4):

The same thing, pick the opposite of your previous options.

In this, you face the truth. You face what you did exactly. You see what happened where Yuzuki rejects the MC and informs her that he has a lover. When Yuzuki said he will 'run away'. He was actually gonna go with his lover to Tokyo. The MC, in blind rage and obsession, kills Yuzuki.

You move on to Day 3 and it starts off with a flashback and it starts with Haruto. Then my brain clicks again, Haruto is Yuzuki's lover! Why he has a dead bird, remains unanswered for now. The whole scene gives us a little run-through of Haruto and Yuzuki's relationship.

Haruto goes to the MC's house. To unlock this ending, you have to take the knife. Haruto finds Yuzuki's dead body, after some back and forth between them, MC stabs Yuzuki. The police arrive and the MC stabs herself because of guilt from not stopping the MC, Ichigo kills himself.

This was...interesting. It answered all my questions except why Haruto has a fucking dead bird in the gift.

Ending 5 (Good Ending):

The same thing, pick the opposite of your choices. Leave the knife for this ending.

This time, without a weapon, the MC and Haruto are equal, in a battle with words as their only weapon and well...their fists I guess because Haruto hits the MC and ties her up, the MC gives up, knowing he's right. The police come, arrest the MC, and a few months (days?) later, someone visits the MC. It's Ichigo, surprise surprise. Ichigo tells her he'll wait for her

Final Thoughts

This was..a ride. This was a whole ride with twists and turns and a lot of questions. (By the way, still waiting for the answer to the dead bird). I'm definitely gonna do Ichigo's endings and from this, I have no idea how it will go but I'm excited.

asmo takes a deep breath, stepping out of his car. he’s just got to give you your uniform and then he can leave.

as he gets close to the door to diavolo’s castle, it swings open before he can knock, and barbatos welcomes him in.

“hello, asmodeus,” barbatos says, that all-knowing (and all-infuriating!) glint in his eye. “here to drop off the things for mc?”

“yep!” asmo says, sensing a chance. “and i’m actually in a hurry so can i just leave them with you? i’ve really got to get going.”

“i’m here!” a voice calls, and he sees you practically run into the room. you’re dressed simply, unlike his completely put-together and gorgeous outfit, and your hair is a complete mess. resisting the urge to fix it for you, he offers you a charming smile.

“you must me mc. i’m asmodeus. pleasure to meet you.” as he speaks, he calls upon his charm, eyes glowing pink.

“nice to meet you,” you return brightly, offering a hand. somehow completely unaffected by his powers.

swallowing a scowl, asmo forces more charm into his voice, taking your hand delicately and pressing a kiss to the back of it instead of shaking it. you jerk back slightly but recover admirably. annoyingly. whatever.

“thank you so much for taking the time to drop this off,” you blabber on. “i know you’re probably really busy and what not, but i appreciate it. you’re literally a lifesaver.”

“well, of course i’d help our newest exchange student,” asmo hums. “especially since you’re so cute~”

you laugh. laugh! at him!

“well aren’t you a charmer,” you say. “i was warned about you, and i guess the rumors are true. you’re just as flirty in real life as you are online.”

“you’re a fan?” asmo asks, acting like he hadn’t spent the last hour doing a deep dive into all of your accounts to see if you were following him, if you’d liked his posts, et cetera.

“i wouldn’t call myself a fan,” you dismiss easily. “but i’m definitely aware of your online persona. a lot of my fans are also fans of yours so i see your name pop up in my comment section sometimes.”

“oh, yes, i saw that you also do youtube,” asmo says. “diy videos, yes? how cute.”

as if you didn’t even notice the barb he just threw your way, you smile. “thanks! i’m still pretty new to the whole thing, but it’s been really fun so far.”

asmo returns your smile, lips thinly pressed together. “well. as nice as it’s been to meet you, i really must be on my way…”

“oh! yes, of course!” you exclaim. “again, thank you so much for dropping this off,” you say, gesturing to the neatly folded uniform asmo has deposited onto the nearby counter. he’d taken the liberty of switching the shirt lucifer had selected for a larger size and wondered what you’d do to combat that on the first day of school. petty? maybe. but fun? definitely. “i really appreciate it! i hope we’ll see each other around at rad.”

“mhm, i’m sure we will!” asmo chirps. “and you’re welcome. i hope you enjoy your time here. and good luck on your channel! if you ever need any help or have any questions, let me know. i am kind of an expert.” unlike you, he implies.

“oh, definitely!” you reply, again not even seeming to register his snark, or his attempt at using his powers. what is wrong with you?! “i’ll keep that in mind. have a good day!”

Locker Room Talk- A Beelzebub Fanfic (BeelxGN MC)

(I’m not much of a whole-ass fic writer, so I don’t think this will be a regular occurrence, but I just had a scenario play out too perfectly not to give it an upgrade. I would hope this goes without saying, but harassment is not okay, I do not condone it, and if you are experiencing it you should look into what legal options you have available to report it. Please don’t try the Beel method. You’ll go to jail.)

"Locker Room Talk” isn't really Beel's thing. In all honesty, he’s never understood the appeal since saying gross stuff where only your friends can hear doesn’t make what you’re saying any better. Because he’s been playing sports for nearly all the time he's been in the Devildom, he’s been around his fair share of these kinds of conversations. Most of the time he just keeps to himself and tries to tune out whatever the other guys have to say. It gives him a bit of a reputation as the “innocent” one sure, but he just prefers not to play along with their pervy antics. If they wanted that, they could talk to Asmo for all he cared.

That’s not to say he didn’t like his teammates or anything. Most of them were pretty good people on the court and got their acts together off of it. And Beel really loved playing sports. He needed the physical outlet as a distraction from his hunger… If he had to put up with a little vulgarity from time to time, it seemed like a fair enough trade… Or. At least it was at first.

When MC came to the Devildom, they turned his whole world upside-down. Things between his brother had always been tense before and even Belphie had grown more distant with him after what happened to Lilith, but it felt like in only a couple of short months they were able to soothe everything over. His family has never been happier and neither has he… Plus, it helped that they were a good, and eager, cook.

His teammates sniffed out his crush for the little human fairly quickly. To be fair, he wasn’t exactly hiding it very well. The first time they ever came by one of their practices, a pouch of homemade cookies in hand, he could have kissed them on the spot. No one, not even Belphie, makes the time to go check on him during practice like that... He must have made his happiness pretty obvious because the human started making it a regular habit. At least two, sometimes three, times a week they would drop in with some kind of food for him. Store-bought, homemade, a small snack, or packed meal, it honestly didn’t matter to him. Anything that came from their hands felt three times more filling than it should have. 

He’s a little embarrassed to admit that after a few weeks the anticipation would start to show in his performance… If they were on their way he could usually smell whatever they had packed heading his direction and he’d play extra aggressively just to get to a break faster. He'd mow everybody else over just to have an excuse to go meet them at the gate. He’s been more than a little reckless before and thinking back on it can make him wince, but he usually forgets all about those little mishaps as soon as he’s met by their smiling face. 

“Hey, Beel! How is practice going?” They’d ask him. And no matter how he answers, all he’d think would be, “Never as good as right now…”

It was around the time that his teammates put it together that the teasing started. It was innocent enough at first. They’d pick on him for having a little crush on the exchange student but it was always lighthearted. Nothing worse than maybe the occasional,

“Oi Beel? Did you get yourself a housewife/husband? Good for you.” or “They’ll cook for you?? What a steal!” Nothing that bad. At least, nowhere near as bad as it would get.

As the weeks passed it seemed like his teammates were expecting something out of him... Like, was he supposed to make a move on them? Though Beel really did want to be with the MC, there were a lot of complications… His brothers being a big one. Most have made no secret that they’re also pretty fond of them too, Mammon especially, and it felt wrong to make another rift in the family right after it took so long to patch the first one… Of course, his teammates didn’t know that. And they didn’t care. All they wanted to do was amp up the pressure…

“Hey, Beel, did you see what your honey was wearing today? I think they’re sending signals. You should probably jump on that, you know?” When it first started, he couldn’t actually believe what he was hearing. Sure, their little jokes sounded like innuendo but they kept things just veiled enough that he could have been reading into it. He’d get uncomfortable, but brush it off easy enough. However, it only ever got worse from there.

“Yo Beel, you boning that human yet? What? No?? What the hell are you waiting for? We see you like them so just do it!” It would grate on his nerves...

“Beel, how’s your sweetheart been doing? Still not fucking, right? Bet they’re getting lonely…” He’d tell them to stop. At first politely, then more forcefully.

“Look, man, if you don’t start taking charge then they’re going to get antsy. Plenty of other guys are here looking to get their dicks wet… Just look at your brothers, am I right?” After a while, he started shouting. But his aggravation only seemed to fuel the fire.

“I bet someone will have them bent over and forgetting all about you by the end of the week.” Eventually, he went to the coach but he didn’t care. “It’s just ‘Locker Room Talk.’ Grow up,” is all he got in response. It didn’t feel like it was just that anymore, but he started to doubt himself anyway... Was he overreacting? Every bone in his body wanted to go on a rampage whenever they started to pester him but wasn’t it all just words? He could endure words, couldn’t he? Besides, RAD has a strict no-violence on school grounds policy on its athletes. Even if he did get a good slug in, then he’d been thrown out of future games for the rest of the season.

Their words were just words. Gross, awful words, but words nonetheless. Sure. Whatever. He could endure that… but only that.

On the day he nearly lost it completely, it was right after their last practice before a big game the next night. The whole team was amped to go, but Beel was trying to keep to himself. Get in, get out, and go back to the House where MC was probably waiting. He’s long since stopped sticking around for socializing with the others. He had just finished changing when one of his teammates cornered him by his locker, the slimiest grin already plastered on his face.

“Look, Beel… We’re going to do you a favor, alright? Since you’re taking so long with this… The guys and I have decided to invite your little human to an “after-game party” tomorrow. To celebrate our victory and all that. Bet they’re dying for some action since you’re not giving any. You’re free to come if you want. Though… they might not be paying much attention to you.” Beel could feel his eye twitch as he watched the scumbag’s snickering face. That face. That fucking face. He'd never seen or heard anything so revolting in his life and-

For a few seconds, all he could see was red.

When he came back to his senses, he already had the sleazebag pinned against the lockers by the windpipe, fingers gripping his neck so tightly that his nails drew blood. At some point, he must have slipped into his demon form because the vibrations of his wings behind him made a sound not unlike a warning growl. His expression must have been ferocious because in the guy's eyes he saw nothing but pure terror. He’d never felt this much rage and hatred together before. Surely, at this moment, he ought to look more like Satan or Lucifer on a rampage than he does himself.

“If you say one more thing about that human, I will kill you. Touch them once and I will eat you. Are we clear?" His hand clenches further, making him receive a gargled cough in response. At this point, he could have probably flicked his wrist and snapped his neck in two. "Then pass it on." He tossed the man back into the metal lockers and watched him sink to the floor, clawing at his own throat and gasping for air. Oh yeah, his sporting days for this semester are over. But if it keeps him away from this trash? He’ll take it.

Of course, he made sure that he doesn’t stick around much longer. He left the scumbag to sort himself out, grabbing his gym bag quickly. He barely remembered to hide his demon form again before walking out of there, his nerves are practically shot already. Thankfully, though, he didn’t make it three steps out the door before a familiar face stopped him in his tracks. MC, who must have been waiting patiently for him this entire time, is leaned next to the bleachers with a backpack in one hand and a deli sandwich in the other. The perfect smile they got when they saw him signaling their blissful ignorance of all that just went down before.

“Hey Beel! How was pr-Oomf!” His body colliding with theirs cuts off their question. Beel’s gym bag lies already forgotten in the dirt, ditched so his arms could embrace them fully. It’s just a hug, a tight hug, but there’s a certain desperation to it. Though he knew it was ridiculous, a part of him was terrified that his teammates may just come up and try to snatch them if he let go…. After some time to process, he felt their head settle against his chest. He worried that they can hear his raging heartbeat... Would they pick up on how pissed he was just a moment ago?

“Ah… Not that great then, huh…?” His arms tense, pressing them closer against the fabric of his shirt. Should he tell them what he's been putting up with…? Does he even have the stomach for it? Letting out a sigh through his nose, he simply grunted out, “No…” 

“Well, what’s wrong then?” So many things… He just wanted to pick them up and fly them away from all this crap. He wanted to rip the tongues out from anyone who's said a bad word about them. He wanted to keep holding them in his arms, shielding them from anything and everything that could possibly take that perfect smile away… But they probably don’t know that, do they?

“Beel? Are you okay...?” He let a slow sigh draw out from his nose, resting his head atop theirs. All too soon, he'd have to let them go. But, for the moment, he could just hold them and wish this feeling would never end...

“Only if you are…”

Kait... I honestly come to really love Suit Saeran. At visual novel after empty shell chat where he comes to MC's room, he sounds somewhat gentle though it's because he did not want to be angry at us anymore, but he says so himself "I wouldn't be this gentle if Ray stay silent inside of me". I've just noticed, there are so many of his statements when he intentionally or not, unconsciously or not I don't know, he let his sturdy wall go down even only a little bit. The first one is when the visual novel where he holds MC's shoulder, he shouts at us, getting angry because he's frustated that we will get our cleansing ceremony tonight and he tried to fail it but failed to do so. He's furious that how MC could be so stupid and wrong that we are to have the ceremony because of that. But again, he hides it with how they can't just dispose of us when we belong to him as his toy.

There's this option "let's get out of here. Come with me." He answers with "No! You will leave me." I don't know but it struck to me how at that point, it isn't that Saeran don't want to leave ME because, well it's Mint Eye. He don't want to leave because he's afraid MC will leave him just like everyone else. That makes me realized just how complex his character is and how he has many good traits that he hides behind his anger.

Yeah, it really hurts me to see people misunderstand Ray or Suit Saeran because they see what they present themselves as but they aren't looking deeper to see who they truly are.

People should never say that Ray is good and Suit Saeran is evil, because that's not the truth at all and it's, in fact, insulting to imply that because they're both capable of extremes, good and bad. I've gone over it before.

Saeran is scared.

Saeran is hiding behind a scary mask because he's been hurt and he has to be the strongest or he's going to die. He's awake because Ray was hurt and he needs to protect not only Ray but himself as well. If he points out to you that Ray got hurt, he's actually angry that some person would go and hurt Ray.

Ray is the one that believes in hope and fairytales. Suit Saeran has to be realistic and crush things. He keeps being told that he needs to be crushing things before he's crushed. He is screaming for help and for someone to help him, but he's so scared of being crushed that he is pushing back.

His anger is a sword and a shield. It protects him but it keeps every little thing away from him, the good, the bad, and the ugly. He is the one that doesn't know what he wants. Ray had an idea of what he'd wanted. He wanted to be happy... he liked being with you. Saeran is not sure what he wants.

He's confused. Rika keeps telling him lies and spinning things to make him feel lost and upset. He questions everything and knows that what he's being fed has to be a lie, but the manipulation that went on in the cult ran very deep and he's going to be dealing with that in spades for quite a while.

He doesn't realize that he's scared of losing you like he's lost Ray. He can't feel Ray anymore... you're all that's left. He knows what anger feels like and he knows what fear feels like, but the warm feeling you give him is scary... new... dangerous. It got Ray destroyed. He cannot be vulnerable. He shouldn't love you. But, he does and that's scary.

He tries to protect you by keeping you locked away, he tries to keep you away from the elixir and he tries to tell Rika to spare you so he can keep you safe. He winds up doing the same thing that Ray was by fighting the cult to save you, but he can't confess to himself that's what it is.

He is basically screaming "I AM TRYING TO PROTECT YOU! IF YOU DON'T LISTEN TO ME, THEY'RE GOING TO DO TO YOU WHAT THEY DID TO RAY AND TO ME!"

He is ashamed of himself. By the time he realizes what it is that he wants and that it may be okay to dream... he stops himself. He hurt you. He hurt you by trying to protect himself.

He didn't need to protect himself from you. You weren't the problem. Love wasn't the problem. Mint Eye is. He understands that, but when he calls you to say, "Who would you leave with?"

He will break down after that phone call if you say Ray because he knows that he deserves that after hurting you. If you say him, he will have a bitter laugh because why do you even want him after he hurt you? It doesn't make sense. You may forgive him when he visits you later that night...

But he doesn't forgive himself.

You know what, GE Saeran holds that guilt that Suit Saeran felt, even during the After Ending. He wasn't able to fully forgive that part of his heart until the After Ending. This shame... if it wasn't for the fusion at day 10 that created GE Saeran, Suit Saeran fully intended to let you leave with Ray and he...

He wasn't going to come back out again if he could help it for a long time, if ever. His shame is that strong. Suit Saeran does hurt you, but he hurts himself, too. His character is so much more than someone saying, "I'm evil now, fuck you."

Look deeper into it.

Suit Saeran is terrified out of his mind. He's not just angry... he's aware of the risks and he's aware of his fate. He's scared of everyone leaving again and he's scared of letting people in. He lives on the edge of those feelings until it explodes in his face. There's just so much to Suit Saeran that people don't try to see.

His cruelty isn't excused but I do wish that people would try to see why he's like that.
