For the blorbo ask, Kanna Kirishima and/or another sakura wars character of your choice?
Ooh, this is a fun one. I remember mainly fun things about Kanna. (Also did Sumire because she's my favorite from the original Tokyo Stage and they did Crimson Lizard together.)
Kirishima Kanna
Tumblr media
I dunno, there is something really neat about a girl who would lift any girl or guy in a princess carry but would lift them like a sack of potatoes instead. My appreciation for Kanna increases as I realize she's genuinely the nicest and least self-centered of the revue actors, though she's still not much for the details and it gets her into trouble. I love how flawed each member of the Teikoku Kagekidan is and how well they mesh together as a group, with their distinct strengths and weaknesses. After tearing each other to pieces for quite some time, granted.
General Impressions: -No fear.->Snakes.->One fear. -Wonderful himbo who's also probably the most emotionally stable of the original crew. -Will always be there for you to grab drinks with. -Perfect angel free of sin. -Tall of stature, chunky of spirit.
Kanzaki Sumire
Tumblr media
Seems just like the haughty tsuntsun one at first but peel back the layer and there is so much depth to her character. I'm extreeeemely normal about this tiny spear queen.
General Impressions: -The Top Star. -So much vanity and so much Taisho fashion power. --Like, so so much Taisho fashion power. The Roman Album guidebook in my closet makes a point of how the TV anime crew tried to give her all these different outfits (which she absolutely deserves).
Tumblr media
-??? relationship with Shinguuji Sakura. --Like, her irritation with Sakura over petty klutz-ruining-my-photoshoot grudges evolves into genuine jealousy when she realizes the latter has more talent than her. And she's mature enough to understand and acknowledge that Sakura realizing this talent is best for everyone, but the way she helps is by challenging Sakura to a live weapons duel on stage after the latter gets stage fright. Awful. Perfection. -Also extremely petty with Kanna, but in this case on principle. -I'm very not up on Shin Sakura Taisen lore, but technically she is the big boss of the new Kagekidan and she's trying her best. Props to her for character growth. --I also hear the new game has a character named Rindou Kaede with a whole personality that can be summed up as "huge Sumire simp" and like, same.

Out of curiosity, are there any events/interactions that Rantaro has in the side games that you like? I was watching some videos on them, and I really enjoy them! I think they all capture Rantaro's kindness and...how everything going on with him is so sad. Any in particular you enjoy? I'd love to hear your thoughts on some of his interactions!
absolutely. oh my god ABsolutely. i'm gonna talk about talent development plan first and then put my dr:s thoughts under the cut for anyone avoiding spoilers.
first of all: mukuro and rantaro. holy shit. i've been obsessed with them as best friends for ages. mukuro immediately understanding that he's not a flirt... rantaro getting her a gift out of country... mukuro noticing he's injured but keeping quiet so he doesn't get embarrassed... they're just so special to me? i think they deserve to be besties. also the IMMEDIATE understanding mukuro has when rantaro says he's doing things for his younger sisters? ugh. UGH. these fucking two.
i do enjoy rantaro's tdp events with shinguuji as well, though they have a bit of a weird energy to me especially when shinguuji expresses interest in meeting rantaro's sister... dude, we all know what you're thinking. don't try it.
his talent development plan event with sonia too is SO cute. i love seeing rantaro blush. who wouldn't blush interacting with sonia, honestly. and the way she offers to send him a lifetime supply of her chocolate. girl, never change. also, rich4rich besties. i wanna see them go out to eat and then battle to treat each other.
AND not to keep harping on tdp, but his event with peko is also extremely delightful. he gets pictures of animals in other countries for her, huh... i love them. oh my goodness. rantaro is so. he's so??? <3 bless him literally.
now for dr:s... first of all. rantaro and fuyuhiko is a friendship i've been craving for a hot minute and seeing them talk about their sisters... ached. gosh. imagining them interacting in a universe where fuyuhiko's sister is dead... ugh. hearing that would BREAK rantaro, i'm certain of it.
now. this is gonna sound really bad. but. rantaro's interactions with teruteru. were. (sucks in a sharp breath of air.) fucking incredible. i try to hate teruteru because he's such a creep (despite the fact that i would adore him if he wasn't) but he's so sweet to rantaro? the way he immediately breaks out the home recipes to make rantaro feel more at home? and then encouraging his cooking efforts and sending him along with more, reminding him to take care of himself... it's just the melancholic vibes... the boy with no home left and the home boy... ugh. don't look at me. dr:s put something in the water, i swear.
rantaro's event with kaito was everything i dreamed it would be. holy shit. kaito is such a dork. i've been preaching amamota for YEARS and getting to see them in an event together was sweet, sweet validation. kaito promising to look for rantaro's sisters from space was so cute. they're silly and i like them.
i was... actually really disappointed by the oumami events? i was disappointed with how dr:s handled kokichi altogether, granted, but his events with rantaro just felt... ugh. i don't know. kokichi was fun and silly, but it felt like rantaro was unnecessarily assuming the worst of intentions from him in a scenario where it really didn't make any sense... maybe in dr:s canon kokichi has made a fool of rantaro before, but rantaro kept like. putting words into kokichi's mouth and being highkey suspicious in ways that felt out of character to me. this guy has twelve little siblings are you telling me he can't interact with kokichi ouma. get out of here. so annoying.
his events with kaede were ADORABLE. amamatsu nation really eating good tonight. good for them good for them. for every oumami loss there is an amamatsu win.
seeing him and ibuki have an event together made me go CRAZY they're my two favourites and their energy was PHENOMENAL. ibuki recreating a song for him just with a little bit of humming... ugh. i adore them. so so good. i wanna see more ibuki and rantaro content just in general, i looove when people draw and write them together.
the rantaro and mahiru events were also superb <3 mahiru's gentle concern for him, making sure he gets pictures of the trip, telling him to take care of himself,,, that last event with her, teruteru, rantaro, and kirumi really struck me where it hurt. i don't know. it felt so... melancholic. like it really just hit that rantaro got three years of relationships and then... was gonna go back to being alone again, and searching by himself for what may be the rest of his life, on a journey that promises no results. it's heartbreaking, and i could feel that with how mahiru spoke to him too. i want to see more of mahiru and rantaro, i feel like she'd really respect him and want to take care of him, especially after seeing his dedication to his family and how it compares to her own father's unreliability, and... idk. it could be cute to see them travel together, rantaro for his sisters and mahiru for journalism work (once she's not being tied down by an irresponsible slob of a dad.)
also: the swimsuit event with gonta shuichi and rantaro. fucking. BAWLS. nothing else to be said.

I've been feeling sad Prom 🙃 Do you have any soft hcs for any characters?
Couldn't pick one so I asked my followers to pick some for me! I hope you feel better dear 💛💛💛
Maizono Sayaka:
I headcanon that back predespair Maizono was really good friends with Kuwata! She fully supported his desire to be a musician and tries constantly to hook him up with record deals/concert gigs. Maizono also will do her hair up in cute different ways on the weekends when going out in hopes people won't recognize her as easily because her hair is iconic. She loves to initiate girls night outs, and also tons of sleep overs. She tried to make valentines chocolate (platonically or romantically is up to you) for Naegi, only to burn them all. She was so embarassed but Naegi was just happy with the gesture.
Ogami Sakura:
🥺 her 🥺. She loves loves going dress shopping with Hina and getting her nails done. She has a really cute girly room. When she gets embarassed she covers her mouth with one hand and looks away. She loves holding hands because she feels like she can really protect the person since shes so much bigger.
Fujisaki Chihiro(note I use all pronouns for Fujisaki but for this post I will use them) :
Fujisaki I think reminds me of like a little lion? Like they try n be tough but their voice is so damn CUTE. But Fujisaki would've gotten stronger physically for sure but also in heart. They'd learn to accept whatever makes them happy. And if thats presenting female? thats ok! If thsts presenting male? Thats ok too! They have the best friends in the world to support them through it all! I also headcanon that Fujisaki made Yamada a dating sim from scratch just so he could finally go onna date.
Iruma Miu:
Iruma really really really wants to ask Amami to paint her own nails but she really struggles with doing in it a normal way. So she ends up blurting something s exual or panics and runs. This continues until Akamtasu notices and helps her break the ice so she can finally join to get her nails painted!
Koizumi Mahiru:
I headcanon that after the events of the first game she doesn't just want to be good with photos but video as well. Because she realized that when people are gone it becomes very easy to forget not just their face but voice too. She's determined to capture everyone on video so the world will always have a memory of them.
Shinguuji Korekiyo:
Hmmm I struggle with this character quite a bit. I can say he definetly has the best hair care routine and his hair is absolutely soft and gorgeous.
Nidai Nekomaru:
I also struggle with Nidai quite a bit but it's good to expand my horizons! I can see Nidai getting along with Fujisaki, wanting to help them with their goal of getting stronger. Nothing like a good underdog for a trainer right! He's also protective of his friends for sure, no doubt. He grew up in the hospital without many friends and if you think he's gonna take anyone for granted now you're wrong. I think Nidai has a nice peaceful outlook on life because of this, even if he yells about shit all the time.

honestly the character who deserves more hate but doesn't get any is Kaito. like he's straight up Sexist and Transphobic in full canon but nobody ever seems to care and act like he's perfect, just not smart. Himiko's that, not Kaito
you’re grasping at straws for reasons to hate a character and then go and love literal murderers and crazy characters.
rant with spoilers under cut
(yes, momota did technically “kill” someone but we all know the circumstances for that case.)
DISCLAIMER: I’M NOT JAPANESE, I’M JUST RELYING ON RESEARCH AND STUDY I’VE DONE OVER THE YEARS. IT’S 4:30 AM SO I’M NOT PROOF-READING THIS SORRY, IF I FUCK UP LEMME KNOW K.
i’ve talked about this way too much already, so let me just say everything and hopefully never have to talk about it again
as a woman, i don’t think momota is sexist. i think he’s an idiot who tries to be chivalrous. he talks about being manly, and says weapons don’t suit girls, and that’s not from hatred of girls or the belief that they’re inferior. it’s because he’s a dumbass. he definitely had room for development, but he died before ever getting an arc. kodaka is a bitch.
gender roles in japan are… kinda bad. but standing up for yourself and being loud & proud (much like momota’s character) is kinda a socially weird thing to do in their culture, which is why that kind of stuff is still in place. a man’s masculinity isn’t often questioned, and women are seen as weaker, and that’s just it. i don’t think it’s fair to blame a japanese character for acting pretty standard for the culture he was raised in. (might i also add that the writing as a whole can be misogynistic? if you hate it so much why play the games?)
i don’t think there’s any accounts of him being fucking transphobic since there are no canon trans characters in the game, but what you’re probably referring to is his use of the term “okama” when he sees shinguuji wearing lipstick.
first off, please do some research. people have been scraping at the bottom of the barrel with this remark. the term okama is not always offensive. it’s slang for effeminate gay men or drag queens, and some drag queens even use it to refer to themselves. however, many consider it to be the japanese equivalent for “faggot” and honestly, i wouldn’t put it that way. it’s more like “queer” where it isn’t really a slur but people can use it in derogatory ways. you can’t really translate some words directly, including that, and here’s why:
being gay was never an issue in japan. it was natural, and normal, and something no one thought twice about, as none of their religions said anything against it. there are plenty of famous historical gay and bisexual japanese figures. however, with the westernization of japan during the 1800s, that anti-gay culture began to affect the country.
i’m not japanese, and i’ve never been there, but i’ve studied the language and culture for years and have done extensive research on these topics, so take it with a grain of salt, but - most japanese people do not have an issue with homosexuality still. most LGBT people in japan report their experiences of coming out as smooth, with their friends reacting mostly like “oh, okay.” the only real upset is usually with parents who want grandkids, or in the work place, particularly office jobs (which confuses me still, and has nothing to do with the scenario where momota is apparently homophobic, so i’m not gonna go into that.)
so far we know that:
- “okama,” though slang for effeminate gay men/drag queens, is not inherently offensive unless used that way (and you can say momota was angry/harsh in that sentence, but if you found out one of your friends had killed 2 people and was being weird, you’d speak harshly too.)
- for the most part, japan’s view of homosexuality is fine. most of the population supports it, and cities are beginning to legalize it and grant benefits of marriage.
(side note - dating culture in japan isn’t really as important as it is here and in other westernized countries, so marriage is less important culturally to most people there. i mean, here in australia, homophobia is rampant as people throw around ‘faggot’ every day and bully you for it, but even we got it legalized first, because dating and marriage is just more important culturally)
so now it just brings up the question: why does momota automatically assume shinguuji is gay because he’s wearing lipstick?
three words: lack of education.
in general, education on LGBT+ topics in japan is very low. remember what i said earlier about people not going on about their rights and equality and standing up for themselves? it’s all related.
because of this need to never stand out, and dating culture being less important to most, many japanese people don’t come out just because they don’t want the attention. (that’s why characters in danganronpa might often react confused or shocked at other characters saying seemingly normal things to us - because they’re standing out, and that’s weird.) and because a lot never come out, the Straights think that there’s hardly any LGBT people in japan, and they know nothing about what they’re really like. which means they get all their education from the media.
LGBT stuff in the media, like television, is grouped into a genre called “Onee.” while onee usually means big sister, or used to refer to a young woman stranger, in this case it’s a less controversial way of saying “okama.” that means drag and other effeminate gay stuff is grouped together with everything else LGBT, so the Straights assume they’re all one and the same.
so, that adds “lack of proper education” onto the bullet list.
let’s go over the scenario once more.
shinguuji murdered two people. he reveals he’s wearing lipstick. he talks effeminately.
momota, someone who likely knows very little about LGBT stuff, sees this, and assumes he’s gay or in drag or something. he doesn’t really know. furious that this guy killed two people, he asks if he’s queer. because in a society with heavy gender stereotypes, a guy wearing lipstick is kinda out of the ordinary.
momota’s fabled sexism/transphobia/homophobia all boils down to one simple point: he’s an idiot.
people like to overlook all the great stuff he’s done and the good guy he really is deep down because of some dumb stuff he’s said, then overlook all the terrible stuff other characters have said and done. it’s grasping at straws.
get this: you don’t need reasons to dislike a character. you’re allowed to dislike momota, i don’t care. but people need to stop going around spreading misinformation about momota being a bigot using the japanese text that most fans don’t understand to try and make everyone else hate him.
as a queer woman, the only thing i ever remember having an issue with was momota saying “weapons don’t suit girls.” but again, i’ve actually done extensive research on cultural differences, and i understand momota’s a dumbass who doesn’t think before he talks. i also think kodaka’s writing is pretty flawed in a lot of areas concerning female characters, but that’s a rant for another time because it’s now 4:35 AM.
EDIT: if you’re interested in doing you’re own research, here are some good videos with actual japanese peoples opinions that i’ve watched (unfortunately i can’t find every single source i’ve had over the years, i’m sorry, it’s just too late rn!!)
youtube
youtube
youtube
(and here’s one that talks about masculinity and gender roles which it won’t let me embed)
EDIT x2: apparently i made a small mistake about the time momota says ‘okama,’ see me address it here.

Artbook data - Korekiyo Shinguuji
Him of all people gets the best comment so far.
Seiyuu’s comment: Ken’ichi Suzumura
I could finally perform in DanganRonpa! I remember a member of the production telling me “Please voice a character in our series some day” years ago (laughs). Thank you very much for remembering me. As the Super High School Level Anthropologist, Korekiyo Shinguuji-kun is mysterious. The instruction I got from the production was “Emphasize on his cool points, while still making him creepy”. He was wonderfully fun to play.
Kodaka’s comment: In the interstice between creepiness and aesthetic
Shunguuji’s character setting is a combination of multiple sorts of imagery... underground culture, anthropology, archaic, visual kei. His name is also a vivid reminder of history and anthropology. His sprite poses were made thinking in various things, but above all, poses from visual kei bands. The mask was Komatsuzaki’s idea and I decided to make it relevant to the story. I had already decided to make chapter 3 feel like a Japanese horror movie, so I need a character who were familiar with nursery songs. As you presume, I decided to have a Super High School Level Anthropologist to fill that job.
One of the characteristics I added to make his character more unique was having their gobis be written in katakana, but I was second-guessing about this a lot. It was overblown, it was really overblown. However, it fit well with Suzumura-san’s amazing performance and it became a speaking style fun to imitate, so I think the result was a great success. By the way, I prepared a plenty of creepy character moments for him, but the staff kept telling me he was already creepy enough with only the main story stuff, so I toned it down some. Maybe it’s just me that loves this kind of underground story character too much. I thought he would be well-received among the fans of Suehiro Maruo’s mangas, but I still haven’t seen any comment saying that so far.
Also, I wanted to make his character moments be about forbidden love, just like it usually was Shouwa underground movies and stage plays. I put some meaningful line in the first half of the script as foreshadowing. His loving sister throws salt at him during his execution, but... it’s ambiguous wether she is the real deal or controlled by Monokuma. Assuming she was real, that exorcism was her way of expressing her anger, saying “What the hell are you doing, murdering people and saying this about my feelings somehow?”. But regardless of whether she is real or not, we know for sure that summoning the person most dear to him is Monokuma’s pestering.
Design notes:
Regulation cap: A military-style school cap matching the design of his uniform. He is always wearing, so seeing him without is a rare sight to behold.
Armband: The armband in his right arm comes from his old school, the Yuuhigaoka Academy. It matches perfectly the uniform his beloved sister arranged for him.
Mysterious Mask: A mask that completely covers his important parts, from the the neck to the mouth. He has a variety of masks for a variety scenes of his daily life, like eating, sleeping, exercising and etc. Do you want to see his face he never exposes?
Underwear: Shinguuji’s favorite bikini bottom. It has a stoic color and sexy form. It represents the work of his life: the multifacetedness of humanity.
Long Black Hair: A jet black long hair is synonym with the archaic image of beauty, that still maintains a deep-seated popularity. It fits Shinguuji’s feminine feel so much that it puts his female colleagues to shame.
Bandages: Both of his arms are always wrapped in bandages, although it’s really unlikely that he is actually injured. As he is a cultural anthropologist, the implication is that this is related to sorcery.
Boots: Long boots to go with his uniform. The rare design with the zipper in the center is has an effect of making the already tall and slender Shinguuji look even taller.
Favorite Presents:
Toko no Monogatari: An academic collection of ancient popular customs, tradition, legends and saying related to gender. It super exciting for its academic value.
Haniwa Dancing Excessively: Pottery made mainly during the Kofun Era, said to imitate the moves of dancing energetically. As it is a historical piece, hand it to Shinguuji as soon as possible.
Monkey’s Paw: A mummified disembodied monkey hand that grants you any 3 wishes. Maybe he has some wish he absolutely wants fullfilled regardless of the high price?
Hated Present:
Air Exorcising Spray: An air freshener spray. One of its ingredients is holy water, so it has an effect of repelling ghost and apparitions. On the day you use it carelessly, Shinguuji will be furious!
Key Phrases:
My Beloved Mythology: Anthropology, Shinguuji’s field of talent, is a subject that studies the history behind traditions and costums presents in daily life. In other words, to be well versed in this discipline, you must be in direct contact with people and their home lives. By the way, it’s well known that common points can be found in the legends and folklore passed down even to these days and one of the intertwining legends he seems to be focused on are the “Hainuwele archetype”. These are legends abouts gods who defecate food and the seed of food is obtaining by killing them. They are present in almost every land with few variations, with the Japanese versions being Ohogetsuhime and Ukemochi. Shinguuji laughing a creepy laugh filled with hidden meaning, but when he is talking about anthropology, his delivery truly shows why he’s got a Super High School Level talent!
Fascinated by Ropes: One of the influences Shinguuji’s constant fieldwork had in his life was ropes. He had the extreme experience of being “tied” in some land, based on a tradition of welcoming guests with ropes, and it was quite an unforgettable one. As a good anthropologist, he of course has a good understanding of the formal costums rooted in people’s souls, but for that very reason, we wish he would tone down his creepy excitement whenever he sees any kind of rope, be it a tsuna or just a wire...
He can tell the lenghty and sturdyness of any rope just by looking... That’s impressive, but what kinds of tradition involves tying people?
The Perfect Getup!: In other to maintain a peaceful life in the Saishuu Academy, everyone leaves their room at 8A.M. after the morning announcement to eat breakfast. Someone like Saihara, who stays up late, wakes up with the announcement. Shinguuji, however, wakes up 6(!) and spends an entire hour getting dressed. Quite the fashionista for a man. It takes a lot of time in the morning to get his glossy black hair and his impecably pleated special uniform all perfect. Doing it so composedly with no hurry or haste might be a daily cultural tradition.
The Nailbrush, the Hand Mirror and the Sewing Kit are among his liked items. We can assume that’s just the proper ettiquette of an intelectual boy?
A Mask’s Secret is a Man’s Secret: When you think Shinguuji, you think of his trademark pitch-black mask. He actually is always bringing a number of them on his person for multiple purposes (one for eating, one for bathing, one for sleeping, one for exercising, etc.). Furthermore, when he is eating, his mouth can never be seen, regardless of whether the zipper is open or closed... What’s the reason for all this work?!  And the secret to how he eats or drinks?! Saihara definitely is not the only one curious!
Main Quotes:
“Aah! Marvelous! I can’t believe ‘this’ really existed“: One of the costums Shinguuji has been longing for, the Kagonoko. 200 years ago, a small village called Ryuuken Village, apparently specialized in curses and incantations, was destroyed. He personally researched it and even managed to obtain a copy of one ancient spellbook. Maybe as reward to his zeal, his laboratory had more than just valuable anthropology documents, it had all sorts of tools related to the kagonoko legend, enshrined in mint condition! He is too overjoyed to ask Monokuma how did he managed to obtain all that. He is completely entranced by it with an uneraseable sarcastic smile on his face. He calls it a “trick of fate”.
“A precious person I love... so much, so much... from the bottom of my heart...“: Shinguuji is so interested in anthropology that it sometimes seems like he is not as interested in the currently living people. However, he does have someone he declares his earnest love to with the same intensity he talks about anthropology, She is “inside him“! Could this mean... here?!
Final comment: The most aesthetic boy in the cast: Shinguuji. He is remarkably beautiful, although you can’t see it through his creepy smile. If only he had a more approachable personality.

How would the DRV3 boys react their S/O’s twin sibling killing someone protect their s/o from a dangerous creep and their s/o pulls a Fuyuhiko as they try to stop the execution, but fails and ends holding their dying twin in their arms? They watch their s/o sing a lullaby to their before they pass on. Note their twin is basically a unpleasant jerk that insulted others and their s/o, while their s/o is a sweetheart. But the twin has a soft spots.
Oh! I really, really like the concept of this one! I hope I hit all the points. Thank you for submitting!
Tumblr media
Shuuichi Saihara
He watched the beginning of the execution with distaste mixed with sadness.
Their reasoning for murder was just, but murder is unforgivable.
But the look on s/o’s face…and yet their sibling treated them like garbage.
The only time Saihara saw the sibling be nice to you was when you broke your arm and almost vomited in pain.
Saihara sighed and looked to the right of him to see you running towards the execution.
His eyes widened in fear. “S/O! Stop, you’re going to get hurt!”
He reached out to grab you, but you were too fast.
Saihara anxiously watched you, mentally praying for your safety.
You grasped at your sibling, only to grab them as soon as the killing blow was landed. They fell into your arms, and you hugged them close.
Because of your interference, it wasn’t an instantaneous death. They were suffering.
You took a shaky breath and started singing a song that was sentimental to both of you. It was a lullaby that your mother had sung to you when you two were younger.
All Saihara could see was s/o rocking back and forth, their chest heaving.
Everyone was silent, and you could hear uncertain shuffling before they left.
Saihara sat down and watched you until you were ready to leave.
“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine…”
Rantarou Amami
Rantarou was disgusted by the fact that your sibling committed murder.
There could’ve been a number of ways to handle the situation…yet they went with murder?
Granted, he did not like them in the least bit, but at least they cared about you somewhat.
Rantarou never saw your sibling ever show the slightest bit of empathy for you. You always looked like you were about to cry when your sibling insulted you.
He snapped back to reality when he felt your hand leave his and saw you sprint into the execution area.
Shocked, he yelled and ran after you, but was caught by Gonta.
He reluctantly watched from the sidelines.
As you crawled to your sibling, they were already presumed dead. Their breathing was shallow.
You carefully cradled them in your arms and started singing an old lullaby that was their favourite.
“Day is done, gone the sun, from the lakes…”
It was hard to finish the song through your tears.
Gonta Gokuhara
Despite what your sibling did, he still felt sympathy for them.
All they were doing was trying to protect s/o!
Yet they’ve always been mean to you. The one time Gonta saw your sibling be nice to you was when you fell from a really high place and was knocked out for a day.
He wondered why you ran because they were always mean to you. He didn’t want to stop you, but he couldn’t help but yell.
“S/o, that’s dangerous!”
He took a deep breath and hoped that you would make it out of there unscathed.
You picked up your sibling’s weak body and ran them back over to everybody, and carefully sat down with them in your arms.
Gonta walked over to you and sat down next to you, gently placing his hand over yours.
You began shakily singing, keeping a smile on your face for your sibling’s clouding-over eyes.
“His bridle was silver, and his mane it was gold…”
You kept singing until you couldn’t remember anymore.
When you were finished, Gonta looked at you.
“Gonta’s sorry.”
Ryoma Hoshi
You started running as soon as the execution began.
He yelled at you a ton, but when it was clear you weren’t going to turn around, he had to trust you.
When you got to your sibling, you embraced them tightly just before a blade stabbed you both in the stomach.
Everyone could be heard gasping.
You tightened your grip on your sibling. They were rambling on and on about how sorry they were for treating everyone terribly.
You reassured them that everyone didn’t think of them as a bad person, and said it was okay.
When their body began to feel heavier, you began singing one of their favorite songs.
“Sleep now, the moon is high and the wind blows cold…”
You felt them go limp at the very end when Ryoma started dragging you away.
The last thing you remembered before you passed out from blood loss was your sibling’s smile.
Kokichi Ouma
He snickered. “Nishishi, they’re getting what they deserve for murder.”
Kokichi glanced at you and saw your face.
“Hey, you can’t be getting sad over the fact that they murdered someone, right? They were an asshole to you, s/o.”
You glanced at him and took a shaky breath. “They still love me. They did.”
He sighed and turned back to watch the execution.
You started walking towards your sibling. Several people called out at you to stop.
When Kokichi saw you, he felt surprised. You actually do feel remorse for them? Granted, their reason for killing that person was alright, but…
“S/o, what’re you doing?” All he could manage to say.
You reached your sibling when they were crumpled on the ground, their eyes glazed over and rigor mortis was setting in.
Carefully, you put your hand on the back of their neck and lifted it so that their head would be on your shoulder.
You gave them a tight squeeze before singing.
“Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?”
This was all you could remember.
You buried your head in their neck and started sobbing violently.
Kokichi approached you and put his hand on your shoulder.
“I’m sorry for making fun of them, s/o.”
Kaito Momota
They did it to try to protect you.
That’s all that mattered to you. And so it did to him.
He was hugging you close when he felt you leave him.
“S/O, where-” He saw you running towards the execution. “S/O STOP, YOU’RE GOING TO GET HURT!”
Kaito started running after you, but you reached your sibling after the execution was over.
You stared at them with sunken eyes. Bending down, you lightly kissed them and then laid on the floor next to them.
You closed your eyes and started singing.
“Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, who’ll come a-waltzing, Matilda, with me?”
When you opened your eyes you were in your room.
Kiibo
He yelled at you to stop running.
He didn’t want you to get hurt, not for the person who was supposed to love you, yet hated you unless you got hurt really badly.
As you reached the top, you began singing desperately in a attempt to keep some spirit of your sibling alive.
“Remember me to one who once lived there, for she once was a true love of mine…”
You felt something grasp around your foot, and you were being dragged away from them. You started singing even more loudly.
Miu pushed you to Kiibo, who caught you in a hug.
As you burst into tears, you kept trying to sing the song.
Kiibo carried you to a quiet place where you could calm down.
Korekiyo Shinguuji
When he saw you running for your sibling, he thought to call after you.
But he understood.
Even if your sibling was rude to you, you cared for them immensely.
You caught your sibling’s battered body from a fall and stumbled.
You cradled them in your arms and held them like a baby.
Swaying back and forth, you told them over and over that, you loved them and forgave them for what they said to you.
Your sibling looked at you with pure hatred and said, “Put me down, you stupid piece of shit.”
Sighing, you began singing as they slung insults at you.
“Puff, the magic dragon, lived by the sea…”
You kept singing until they died.
Korekiyo offered to do a seance for you, which you politely declined.

Danganronpa for the Fandom ask meme
You mean like all of DR or… cause dr2 and sdr2 were a long time ago for me (actually you know what i’m just doing v3 fuck it)
The character I first fell in love with: Ouma had me from “Do robots have dicks?”
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: I didn’t think I’d be particularly fond of either Saihara or Kaito (granted Kaito isn’t a fave fave for me, but I still ended up liking him a lot more than I expected)
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: idk how much people like her overall in the fandom but I’m not that big of a fan of Maki. I don’t hate her just, eh.
The character I love that everyone else hates: uhh idk I like messing with Shinguuji’s character mainly taking out that incest part
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: I’m slowly drifting away from Akamatsu, maybe because I’m paying much more attention to Oumasai because of the discord server ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The character I would totally smooch: uh no
The character I’d want to be like: yo i wish i was half as competent about anything as Kirumi lemme tell you that also I’d like a serving of whatever determination/motivation Kaito has thanks
The character I’d slap: Tsumugi but also have you seen Ouma? I don’t care how much I like him as a character I wanna slap the fuck
A pairing that I love: -looks at 8 oumasai rps- hm i wonder
A pairing that I don’t: Momo///haru could’ve been something but man did the game fuck up with that, I don’t even wanna bother trying to reimagine it to be better

Hey~🌸! May I request some HCs for Korekiyo,Kaede,Chiaki,Gundham and Rantaro with a female asexual S/O who gets severly anxious when her parents pressure her into having children? Thank you~!♡
Hello! Ooh, a flower! How nice! And yes you may! Thank you for the request and I hope you have a wonderful day! I do apologize for my absence, but I am grateful that all of you continue to stay by me. Thank you! I will try my best!
Tumblr media
Korekiyo Shinguuji
- You decided to visit your parents since it has been a while. Your mother found Korekiyo’s presence to be slightly disconcerting, while your father deemed him to be absolutely sinister and forbidding, so you don’t visit as often as you used to. While they did not necessarily approve of him, they still encouraged, as they always have, for you to bear a child. You were not interested in raising a child, but it became much more than that. You were terrified of what is to come and what would follow having a child, and the pressure applied each time this discussion arises overwhelms you to the point of tears.
- Upon your return home, you found Korekiyo reading earnestly, his posture poised and austere. Hearing the door unlock and slowly open, he looks up at you silently, and welcomes you home in his usual, soothing way. He rises from his chair however, the moment he notices your shaking. He approaches your hurriedly, and you cry into his chest. He strokes your hair before gently lifting you from his chest, using his fingers to gingerly wipe the tears from beneath your eyes. He knows, so he leads you to the couch and sits you down.
- Korekiyo relays to you the mythos of Hestia, the Greek Goddess of the hearth and its fire. She was granted her powers by Zeus, for swearing to remain a virgin and remaining unmarried. Despite the erratic methods of childbirth in mythology, Hestia would not give birth, not ever. But she still remained an influential figure, quintessential to the home. This seemed to comfort you, as Korekiyo’s speaking always does. He brings you in close for an embrace, stroking your hair quietly.
Kaede Akamatsu
- Her playing the piano soothes you, especially when family or friends come over to visit. Questions are inevitable, and the two of you are aware. Before anyone arrives, Kaede always sits down with you quietly for a while before the conundrum begins. She always holds your hand firmly while she speaks to you, encouraging you and supporting your not wanting children. While everyone means no harm, they can, at times, be insensitive and unaware. It still is difficult to handle, nonetheless, and Kaede assures you that you only need to endure it for a short while before returning to your peaceful life with her.
- During the visit, Kaede remains by your side. But because you dislike conflict, she drifts to her piano rather than confronting whenever people begin to ask you questions. Once she begins playing, the room falls silent to listen. All is calm, and the music soothes you. Somehow her performances are able to harmonize groups of people and bring them together when the tension becomes tangible or in times of conflict.
- After finishing a song or two, people remain jovial until they take their leave. Once your home empties and it’s just you and Kaede, the two of you collapse onto the couch in exasperation. Thank goodness it was over. Because of Kaede’s masterful piano playing, you were okay, and she’s glad.
Chiaki Nanami
- Despite not being belligerent, it was quite astonishing the very first time Chiaki defended you in a discussion with your parents. Usually, she will end her sentences with either “I think…” or “…maybe…” However, she spoke with confidence when standing up for you when they were pressuring you. You have expressed to her your anxiety in regards to having children and being pressured to do tasks, so the combination of the two makes you severely uneasy. She understands this, as she always does because she is compassionate and patient, and is not bothered by it whatsoever.
- “S/O does not want a child,” she said. It wasn’t aggressive, but it was assertive nonetheless. “So please do not pressure them into doing so. It is quite unfair to them, and shows a lack of consideration for how they feel.” Because Chiaki has met your parents before and gained their approval, they were just as astonished as you were, but were not offended. Because of her calm albeit soothing disposition, there was no arguing or hostility to be had, and your parents and yourself had a meaningful discussion about your decision, which resulted in them respecting it.
- After their departure, she assists in comforting you. Despite diffusing the situation, it’s quite possible that it might come up again, and the thought stresses you out. She pulls you in close for a caring and protective hug as you two sit on the couch, but not too long after, she dozes off. Her presence is still extremely comforting, and you can rest assured that she will always support you and have your back.
Gundham Tanaka
- “To not bear children just simply means you are conserving the power for yourself and that is an acceptable fate!”
- Whatever it was that you decided to do or not do, Gundham always seemed to respect it in his own peculiar Gundham way. However, he surprisingly is willing and capable of shedding his self-grandeur in order to comfort you genuinely and properly, because he holds your well-being to the highest degree. It’s become strange for him to be ‘normal,’ since you’re so used to his ‘I am the Dark Lord,’ ramblings and his sauntering around.
- He is awkward, but he does try his best. He struggles to maintain eye contact and speak confidently, but you are aware that he is being genuine. It’s customary that he always reminds you to worry about yourself, your happiness and your happiness together with him, and if that means not having a child then that is fine. While parents and guardians are to be respected, they should not hinder you from making decisions that you think is best for yourself, nor should they restrain you from being an individual, and you shouldn’t feel obligated to do something just because someone pressures you to.
- Afterward, he embraces you while blushing fervently. You thank him, and he declares that it is no problem at all, and that he cares about you very much (he whispers under his breath).
Rantarou Amami
- He has plenty of sisters, and not all of them wish to have children, so it isn’t anything shocking to him. Because he is open-minded, accepting, compassionate and understanding, he has no problem with your decision at all. He does worry about the pressure your parents place on you to raise a family, though. It doesn’t bode well with him that they appear to be ignorant and inconsiderate for whatever reason, and he firmly believes that you shouldn’t feel obligated to bear children if you don’t want to.
- He accompanies you whenever you visit your parents, and always ensures to hold your hand in his whenever everyone sits down to talk. He would stroke the back of your hand with his thumb assuredly and slowly, tightening his hold slightly each time he senses your anxiety. It makes him appear reliant and dependent, but he would casually rest his head on your shoulder occasionally, calming you in an instant. His tactics were subtle, but impactful, such as his holding of your hand or resting his head on your shoulder.
- If things became tense, he would always politely excuse the both of you, and take you back home. Indulging in some ice cream in bed with a movie was always something you enjoyed, so he would often have the two of you sit down for that. If not, he would resort to holding you tightly and protectively while the two of you talked. It could be about anything, not just what was discussed at your parents’ house. You always felt safe in his embrace, and he would always enjoy placing his forehead on yours or touching noses.

I believe the spelling you are looking for is “eczema”~ And I know exactly what your talking about for both~ (Thnx for the descriptions on both, it saves me time from having to do it myself…laaaazzzyy mod lol…note: I’ve only experienced asthma attacks? I didn’t know you could also experience breathing problems too, thank you once again anon for clarity…[I won’t implement the attacks since it is technically not what you asked for ;) ]) Also it’s okay that you’re detailed, I don’t mind at all:3. I think…I’m gonna tackle each condition in an orderly fashion rather than squeeshing them into one bullet point…I think you’ll see in a moment…
Rantaro Amami * “Super High School Level ???”, what’s that? * More like Super High School Level (scarily) Prepared, amirite? * Plus he’s a tall boi, so your height isn’t really going to bother him much, but he may poke fun a few times, just cuz~ * Amami has an emergency set of your medications at his house specifically for when you visit, and always has them handy for when you go out on dates and you forget yours. * Oh, is your skin irritating you? He’s got your cream. * Need your inhaler? * He’s probably has three different sets juuuuussssttt in case. * It doesn’t bother him much and nothing totally changes about your relationship.
Korekiyo Shinguuji * (Prepare to cringe…) * Such magnificent and gracious beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, s/o~ * It is a blessing to be in a loving relationship with someone of his height, or rather a curse…since he won’t will himself to watch you struggle…maybe he should sometime, it would be interesting to see how far you’ll go to reach such troubling heights. * Has your skin caused you irritability beyond tolerance? * Worry not, fair s/o, Korekiyo knows many remedies to alleviate your pain. * Listening to your rhythmic breathing has completely overwhelmed him with such incomprehensible euphoria that he cannot refrain from embracing you in the most intimate way possible without hindering your wonderous- * (*Mod Tojo wheezing and begging for mercy in the background*) * I’m sure you get it at this point, hopefully… * He couldn’t be happier to take care of you…and drown you in a sea of compliments…
Kaito Momota * Literally best boi at this~ * It’s already a part of his nature to help you out when your height causes you problems, I mean, he is usually the tallest of his friends so this is normal… * But he knows the importance of caring for your health. * Probably learned a thing or two from astronaut training, and is more than glad to teach you what the Great Kaito knows. * Your local pharmacy is suddenly out of stock for you specific creams. * But it was all there yesterday??? * The next time you visit space boi, he shows you his new collection of eczema cream…which would explain why the pharmacy was out. * It was a little unnecessary but it was sweet of him to go through such great lengths to make sure you had what you needed. * For your asthma, he only notices when you are a struggling to breathe. * Otherwise, he’s not put off by “mouth-breathing”.
Kokichi Ouma * Nishishishishi~ S/o got the “short” end of the stick, huh? * It’s not good to have a “short” temper, s/o~ * (I thought of something cruel, but I’ll put that in the tags because it’s reaaaaaaaalllllyyy mean) * Anyway, expect him to poke fun at your height…like 99.9% of the time. * But when it comes to your health? * Nothing really changes. * Granted he does take real good care of his s/o, but that does not mean you are immune to his jokes or pranks (save for ones that can cause you to have flares or asthma attacks).
Shuuichi Saihara * Shuuichi is very perceptive of all of your needs (duh Mod Tojo, Super High School Level Detective). * But shy boi tries waaaaaaaay harder than he needs to. * He practically wears himself out, and it’s not even necessary??? * Are you doing fine? * Do you want me to reapply your medicine? * Do you need your inhaler? * ARE YOU HAVING AN ASTHMA ATTACK??? * ^^;;; * After a while he’s super comfortable and more knowledgeable on taking care of you. * He already knows when your flares are likely to happen, he’s noted some environments and stressors that could cause it, and has your inhaler at his side in case you start to hyperventilate. * Of course, he’s still a teensy but worried when you show the slightest signs of discomfort, because he thinks he didn’t do a good job at detecting what’s wrong.
Kiibo * He had no clue humans suffered from multiple problems at once! * …Well, it does make sense…he’s suffered multiple malfunctions as a result of a virus…is that the same thing? * …^^;;;;;; No…it’s not… * After a quick search he kind of has a better understanding. * It’s sad to hear that you’re uncomfortable because of it, but Kiibo is on the job! * He will do anything he can to help his beloved~ * He constantly checks up on you to make sure you’re okay, he just can’t help it, the Internet never lies, and it says consistency is very important! * he’s so adorkable
Gonta Gokuhara * It is his duty as a gentleman to provide for you in every way possible. * It’s easy to help you with your height problem (if you consider it an issue) because bug boi is hecka tall. * But what’s eczema? And how does Gonta help his s/o breathe comfortably? * Does Gonta have to do CPR? * ^^;; * *montage of you teaching Gonta about your conditions* * Oooohhh… * Now that he knows about what’s going on, he goes through great lengths to provide you the best comfort in life. * He’s more than willing to help you apply your cream. * And expect to go hiking, like a lot…it’s good to have fresh natural air to help clear your airways, but don’t worry Gonta is a perfect gentleman and will carry you so you can save your energy for bug scoping.
Ryoma Hoshi * Hmmm…how’s this gonna work? * You’re both short… * You two will figure it out I’m sure~ * On the plus side, he’ll never have to worry about really having to struggle to reach things on the waaaaaay top shelf, because you’re too short to reach it anyway. * He doesn’t know much about your asthma or eczema though, so you’ll have to train him for emergencies. * But he has 0 issues with providing proper care for you. * He low key loves it, because his height makes it difficult for him to perform extravagant luxuries for you…like reaching things on high shelves…

headcanons for himiko who was in a zombie au and stuck with iruma, momota, amami, ouma, and shinguuji
heres ur headcanons himiko! i hope u like them, and if u want any changes or additions just let me know! - mod kiibo - when somebody told himiko that the zombie apocalypse had started, himiko wasnt really sure what to think. of course she didnt believe them, and she even said she would just use her magic to make the zombies go away if it were really true. but then she saw a zombie chase after that person, and felt momota grab her up and start running to keep her alive - honestly, himiko was terrified throughout the whole predicament. not only that, but in the beginning momota was the only person who she could actually be sure was alive. as time went on, though, the two of them found more survivors, until they ended up with a group consisting of six people - everyone in the group was too scared to leave, even if they would joke about walking off and getting eaten by zombies (so basically, even ouma). in a sense, everyone was basically stuck together and forced to try and survive with one another. for some, like iruma, this choice was just terrible, but it would have to do - for the most part, the stronger members of the group would try to protect the weaker members of the group from any potential danger. this meant that iruma, momota, amami, and shinguuji would do a bunch of fighting to protect himiko and ouma, even if they said they wanted to help them fight. the stronger ones just didnt want to allow it - one time, in order to protect everybody, amami actually jumped in front of the group and fought off the zombies for them. everyone worried and got into a panic when they thought they saw a scratch on one of his fingers, and they ended up watching over rantaro for weeks on end, just to find out that they had been granted with a false alarm - whenever everyone decides that they need to sleep, but theyre having any difficulties, shinguuji does his best to tell them stories and help soothe their nerves so that they can fall asleep. whenever it comes to himself, he just closes his eyes and tries to count sheep and ignore the fact that his life is always on the line thanks to the end of humanity - despite the fact that they were literally in a zombie apocalypse, iruma still tried to make fun of himiko and insult everyone while still talking about how great she was. she also continued making sex jokes. it made the other members laugh, knowing that iruma still had it in her to talk like this, even though she could potentially be kicked to the side and forgotten - when it came to ouma, he... acted the same for the most part. he tried to make as many jokes as possible and keep the situation light, even though there were actual zombies walking around. he was also wary to trust others, but did so because he needed to in order to survive. every once in a while he got the others to chuckle, though - whenever the group came past any dead bodies, such as hoshis, tsumugis, or kiibos, momota tried to shield everyones eyes, even if he really wanted to just stop and cry (like when he saw maki). when it came to tenko, though, he ended up having to carry himiko away because she ended up crying so much she passed out - once the situation clears up a bit, himiko cant help but look at herself and just realize that she, and the rest of her group, actually survived. they made it so far, and now they could finally stop and try to rebuild everything that had been destroyed. there might have been people that died, but there was still a pride in himiko at the knowledge that she managed to live

His intelligence. Can’t knock the guy on his intelligence; That’s a fact. Kaito admires Shinguuji’s knowledge and though Shinguuji may in fact use it as an insult towards him, he does believe Shinguuji’s smarter than him in more ways than he is smarter than Shinguuji. And he completely respects that.
His reactions. Let’s be real here. Kaito does sometimes enjoy their banter and their back and forths. And when he can catch Shinguuji off guard, he relishes those moments. Granted, he’d probably never actually follow through with some of the shit he claims, but he still loves those moments where Shinguuji seems at least slightly caught off guard by something he says.
His determination. I mean... Even if you tell Shinguuji not to do something or that he can’t... He’s just... Gonna... Do... It... Anyway... I laughed. Ok that’s not even a bad thing. Kaito respects people that know what they want and go for it. Shinguuji’s no exception to this. Regardless of Shinguuji’s reasoning, he does respect the fact that he will go out and attempt being the best him, by his own definitions and terms.
Dislikes
His vernacular/way of speaking. Let’s put it this way. Kaito feels like he’s taking a polygraph test most conversations with Shinguuji. While he loves the back and forth when he can get it, he absolutely dreads talking to him alone. A one on one conversation seems to last eternity to Kaito, and he’s constantly trying to pick his words carefully so Shinguuji doesn’t weasel in some sort of insult or question meant to throw him off guard.
His looks/body. Yeah yeah, it’s superficial I know. But there’s reasons why Kaito calls him twig. It’s not necessarily an act of hate, in Kaito’s opinion, but he does acknowledge the fact that Kaito COULD snap Shinguuji’s limbs in an actual fight. He would obviously never actually hurt Shinguuji physically to that point though. That, and the whole vertical look he’s got going on, with the longer hair and such... Yeah, he doesn’t like it one bit.
His... Brattiness? *eyes the coffee order* You know what I mean. Kaito’s the kinda guy to do things for other people. And though he offers his assistance to Shinguuji sometimes, well... Coffee ends up on the floor y’know. No but seriously. There’s something about Shinguuji’s stubbornness sometimes that just irks Kaito. There’s a difference between determination, and being a brat. And sometimes Kaito believes Shinguuji crosses the line is all.

I’m a Survivor (3/??)
(title still subject to change)
MAJOR NDRV3 SPOILERS AHEAD! (I’m talking ENDGAME spoilers for this part, so tread with caution)
Part One l Part Two Word Count (for this part): ~2,200 Relationships: nothing yet. heavily implied Saimatsu (Saihara/Akamatsu) Major Characters (for this segment): Shirogane, Saihara Summary: Whether he remembers it or not, Amami Rantarou is still the Super High School Level Survivor. He’s not dying that easily. (Or, an exploration of what happens if Amami survives both murder attempts and, consequently, Akamatsu doesn’t get executed for killing him)
///
All the tension that had gradually left the room was back in an instant, as everyone realized the girl who’d been quiet all this time – the one they’d practically forgotten about in the midst of everything – had been carefully, stealthily sneaking towards the closest door in an attempt to escape. And if it weren’t for Amami calling attention to her, quite pointedly so, she would’ve made it.
Shirogane freezes by the doorway, the doorknob already partially turned in her hand, as five pairs of eyes suddenly bore into her back.
Damn Amami. Damn him to hell. If she had just managed to kill him – or better yet, if Akamatsu’s trap hadn’t been fucking awful and she had killed him – then none of this would be happening. Her plan wouldn’t have gone terribly off the rails. But really, she can’t blame Akamatsu too much. She had kind of expected the girl to fail, after all, which was why she’d made sure she could finish the job if necessary.
If murder and a frame job were what it took to kick-start the game and the story – her story, that she’d put her blood, sweat, and tears into, like any committed fan – into action, then so be it. This game was going to happen, and it was going to be the way she’d planned it.
Amami is the one to blame, really. She had underestimated him. Even with his memories gone, one doesn’t survive three killing games – achieving a new record and the legitimate title of Super High School Level Survivor in the process – without learning a thing or two, and, well, the body remembers what the mind forgets. His instincts and reflexes were as honed as ever, and that was something she hadn’t been counting on.
Now, frozen by the door, Shirogane’s mind races a mile a minute as she considers the possibilities.
She could just cut and run. She has enough distance between them, and she doubts they’d expect her to, buying her precious extra seconds before they pursue her. She could probably make it to her room, hole up in there.
There are, after all, only seven, soon-to-be six minutes left until time runs out.
Shirogane knows better than anyone how serious the threat of mass execution is. As the mastermind (in game, at least), she should have amnesty from the slaughter, but, well…
She’d involved herself in the story, and gotten caught. Somehow, she didn’t think the real masterminds would be granting her any mercy when she was shaping up to be a failure so soon into the game.
So that option was out.
She could try to quickly kill someone in the room before time ran out. Even if the others all saw her do it, due to the special first kill rule so long as she admitted it – and she had absolutely no reason not to, unlike her planned first culprit – she’d get away scot-free.
…Get away from the killing game, at least. Again, she can already anticipate the punishment that would come afterward from the real masterminds. And that’s assuming she even could quickly kill someone here before being taken down. Chabashira and Amami are out of the question; Momota wouldn’t see it coming, but she doubts she could take him out in one hit, which is certainly all she’ll have; Saihara and Akamatsu are the easiest targets… and also the farthest away from her, of course.
Dammit. That’s out, too.
There’s only one option left to her.
With a handful of minutes left before they’re all dead, she’ll play her part. She can only hope her bluff is enough to convince her classmates – and if she’s really lucky, her superiors.
---
“Looks like we’ve got another failure on our hands. God, it’s been at least ten seasons since we had a genuinely good mastermind. And here she’d seemed so promising with the shocking protagonist switch idea.”
“Don’t count her out just yet. Let’s see how she plays this.”
Elsewhere, outside the game, a group of people are watching a collection of monitors, all showing different locations of the school. On one screen, Shirogane releases the doorknob and turns towards the other students in the library, a desperate look on her face.
“That’s not it!” The girl on screen beseeches her audience.
Amami is unimpressed. “Oh? So you didn’t try to kill me?”
“Wait a moment!” It’s Chabashira piping up. “Tenko is confused! Just a moment ago, we were talking about Akamatsu-san trying to kill Amami-san. Now you’re trying to say that Shirogane-san also tried to kill you?”
“Yes, exactly. That’s why I was pinning her down when you all came in. To keep her from—”
“Tenko doesn’t believe it! Tenko absolutely doesn’t believe it! You were trying to take advantage of her like the menace you are, and—”
Even on one tiny screen surrounded by dozens of others, Amami’s irritation is clearly visible. “Seriously? Did you not see the weapon in her hands then? The weapon that she’s still holding onto now, for that matter?”
“What weapon? Tenko doesn’t see a weapon!”
“It’s here.” All eyes are on Shirogane, inside the game and out. The girl shakily holds up the hand she’d been trying to hide, revealing another shot put ball. Chabashira gasps; Saihara’s eyes narrow.
“What the hell is Shirogane doing?”
“Shut up, and we’ll see.”
On the screen, Momota takes a step forward. “Oi, Shirogane. Are you confessing? You tried to kill that guy, too?”
“…Yes. I did.”
“Seriously?!”  Momota scratches his head on screen, seeming uncertain about how to proceed, before deciding on, “And with the same weapon and everything? Man, that’s one crazy coincidence!”
“…Yes.” Gone is the distress from Saihara’s face. He’s in full detective mode now. “It’s quite strange.”
“She might as well have admitted she’s the fucking mastermind! Saihara’s not gonna let this go.”
“Hmm. I wonder.”
Shirogane seems to come to the same realization that she can’t let Saihara focus on the weapon any longer, and she starts babbling. “A-anyway! I admit that I tried to murder Amami-kun, but you have it all wrong! Just like Akamatsu-san, it was nothing personal, I swear! He was just the first person I saw alone once I decided to go through with this!”
“What do you mean, once you decided to go through with this?”
“Were you not planning to commit murder originally?”
Akamatsu and Saihara both questioned her. Shirogane started crying, turning her tearful gaze toward the boy, who looked away awkwardly. “Of course not! I don’t think anyone wants to commit murder! It’s just… I don’t want to die, you know?! The time limit kept getting closer and closer, and I…”
“Shirogane-san, please tell us exactly what happened.” Saihara’s tone is pacifying, but there’s still suspicion in his eyes.
The girl sniffles and begins to spin a tale for them. “It was… about an hour and a half ago, I think? I was eating dinner with a few other latecomers. Shinguuji-kun, Iruma-san, and Toujou-san. But I couldn’t stop thinking about the time limit. I just couldn’t stop. I didn’t want to die. That’s why… right then, I decided to kill someone. I said I needed to go to the bathroom and excused myself…”
“That’s… true, right?”
“This part, yeah. Which is good; means she’ll have people to back up her story.”
“What does that matter? She and everyone else will be dead in like three minutes, anyway.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure of that.”
The voice came from a man watching a different monitor than the rest. He peered intently at the screen, and seemed quite satisfied with what he saw.
“Just because her plan failed, it doesn’t mean you can say for sure no murder will happen,” he says. “It’s still too soon for that.”
“But sir!” protested another voice, “there are only three minutes, twenty-four seconds left until time runs out. And once it does, the mass punishment starts immediately!”
“Delay it.”
“W-what?”
“Two minutes. Delay it. Let ‘em sweat. And in that time…” he trailed off, still staring at the same screen with interest, “…we might just get what we’re all waiting for.”
---
Should she fall to her knees? Would that be too much, too clearly overdramatic? Well, whatever. Saihara’s something of a bleeding heart; it’s worth a shot.
Shirogane collapses to her knees, dropping the shot put ball to hug herself tightly as she continues her story. “Instead of going to the bathroom, I went to the school storage room. There were so many things in there; I just figured there had to be something I could use…”
“And you found a shot put ball.” Saihara’s tone is flat, his expression dubious.
Shirogane knows what she needs to say; has the defense ready on her tongue, when Amami chimes in. “It is awfully suspicious – or should I say convenient – that you found the same exact weapon as Akamatsu-san. Why, imagine what would’ve happened if you’d successfully killed me and escaped the room? Everyone would’ve thought she did it!”
Her words die in her mouth. He knows. He knows. Just from this, he’s figured out this much. How long before he puts the rest of the pieces together? Truly, his experience (remembered or otherwise) and instincts are much more dangerous than Saihara’s detective skills. Ugh, that was why she’d planned on him being the first victim. He was too big a threat to leave unchecked.
Akamatsu, of all people, comes to her aid. “They are kind of right there on display when you walk in,” she says. “That’s… how I ended up finding them and taking one while you were off looking for cameras, Saihara-kun.”
Shirogane knows this. She planted them there for that purpose.
Saihara didn’t know this, and hearing it when he hasn’t even had time to process what Akamatsu had done – or rather, tried to do – draws a pained expression to his face. There’s a moment of silence before he simply says, “…Please continue.”
Amami gives a dissatisfied hum, but says nothing.
She nods fervently at Saihara. “After I had a weapon, I… went looking for someone to use it on. I knew of the others in the cafeteria, but I figured I should try to catch someone alone. I didn’t see anyone else around on the first floor, so I went into the basement, and that’s when I saw Amami-kun heading into the library alone. I went after him, and, well—”
“Wait.” Shit. “How and when did you get into the basement, Shirogane-san?”
Fuck.
She has no choice but to play dumb. “E-eh? What do you mean? I just went to the basement using the staircase, obviously. It was… a little after nine, I think?”
“That’s impossible,” Saihara says. “Akamatsu-san and I were in the classroom closest to that staircase watching it. There’s no way you could have gone by without us noticing.”
Shitfuck.
She can see the doubt on Saihara’s face – and on Akamatsu’s too. Of course she knows they were watching that staircase, but as far as they know there’s no other way to get down to the basement. Pretending she slipped past them is her only choice.
Shirogane plasters on her most innocent, airheaded expression. “I’m sorry, Saihara-kun. I don’t know what to tell you. Those stairs are the only way down to the basement, and, well, I’m down here, so…” She tosses in a placating smile. If there’s one thing she can do, it’s lie. “Are you sure there was no chance of you just missing me? Not a moment where you were distracted? Maybe…” she pauses to direct a pointed glance at Akamatsu, waiting for Saihara to follow her gaze. “…you were briefly lost in conversation with Akamatsu-san? You two have gotten pretty close, it seems.”
Rubbing that little bit of salt in the wound does the trick. Saihara and Akamatsu both look away from her, faces downcast.
That should be enough for them to let it go. That has to be enough.
…Well, even if it isn’t, they’re out of time, anyway. She’s done what she can to plead her case, more to her superiors than her classmates, and she can only hope it’s enough to spare her life.
“Hey,” she says, voice shaking out of genuine fear, “there’s… no time left. Are we going to spend our last moments arguing and doubting each other?”
As if to demonstrate her point, that awful, awful music finally stops. The monitors blink off. Any second now and Monokuma and his children will begin the slaughter.
Momota’s eyes widen. “Shit! Is it time already?!”
“No! Tenko’s not ready to die! She’ll go down fighting if she has to!” Chabashira wails, looking a lot less confident than she sounds.
Momota’s eyes get impossibly wider as he realizes – “FUCK, the strategy meeting!”
The library door flies open, and Shirogane braces herself for the end.
///
(And with this, we’ve reached a point where I’ve got what I’d consider to be a full chapter! I can now start posting this to AO3! ...but I’ll wait until I’m at least partially done with the next chapter, just to be sure I don’t lose my motivation. But hey, this fic actually got some attention now! Yay!
...It probably helps that I posted the second part during the day, instead of the middle of the night like the first part... and like this part I’m posting now. Hey, I post as I finish them. Anyway, please continue supporting this fic if you like it (and consider giving me constructive criticism)!
On another note, I don’t know if it’s obvious, but I haven’t actually SEEN the endgame stuff. I’ve READ spoilers, but I’m watching a translated playthrough by Nate and Jess, and they only just finished chapter three as of writing this. So while I’ve been spoiled for chapter 4 on, I don’t actually KNOW in detail everything that happens. If something regarding Shirogane and the true masterminds behind her are contradictory here, I guess just let me know. Hopefully it doesn’t screw up my plans too much.)
