potentially controversial but i despise the spelling “launcelot” it looks so distressing to me normally i enthusiastically enjoy different spellings of names but launcelot is my greatest enemy. remove that u AT ONCE
#can’t stop pronouncing it as lorns-lot#my brain can’t recognise the three syllable situation until its in the spelling of lancelot that it’s grown to know and love#on the other hand despite being rarer tristram is significantly better than tristan in every way#such a beautiful name to say. tris tram. absolutely

Rewatched Bless you, Hawkeye and honestly, i don't think Alan Alda's sneeze acting is that bad- imo some are exaggerating their critiques
And I was going to put this in the tags but I feel brave today, but I get really irked sometimes with people saying his falling apart after Billy pushed him was overdramatic and comes off as humorous instead- i think people just get uncomfortable because loud and raw weeping like that is uncomfortable to look at and when people are uncomfortable, they sometimes laugh to break up how awkward they feel.
Yeah, Hawkeye was crying like a little kid in that scene. Because when he was a little kid, someone that he looked up to probably more than anyone- someone that he might have thought was his best friend- pushed him into a pond and let him sink before fishing him out; to top it all off, Billy made it seem like it was his fault for "falling in", and all Hawkeye said he could do in response was "thank him". And he kept that bottled up for years and years, never letting the truth surface, until he was subconsciously reminded of what happened and it demanded to be reckoned with.
#i've been sneezing a lot and pretty violently today and brother i am feeling his pain#and like- in fairness it's not 'just yelling' as i've seen some claim i can hear the ah-choo syllables for lack of better phrasing#and smth smth it's hard to sneeze act consistently and it probably took multiple takes and i swear i saw someone say this before and i agre#not feeling brave enough to use media tags however#ugh ew i feel so gross i rarely share my thoughts outside of dms and almost never outside of the server#don't look at me#to add on to hawk crying like a little kid-#do you think when he was 7 he even got the opportunity to mourn losing one of his best friends for the first time?

I genuinely think some of y’all are mistaking pitch correction for just clearer, more forefront vocals
#“Freddie doesn’t need pitch correction” how does it feel to be absolutely right#Also even if they did it’s not like it would be whole lines and sentences#I read someone’s analysis of Live at the Rainbow (the 2014 one compared to any earlier bootlegs. 2014 is what’s on Spotify) and y’all#They got rid of all the overdubs they could (and lessened the ones they couldn’t) and although there’s a lot of use of pitch correction#There’s still not a lot of pitch correction. A lot of it was one letter or a syllable and MAYBE a word or two. So even if they did use it#On Queen I which it looks like they didn’t#But even if they did it’s not gonna be that much#Calm down and be happy or just don’t buy it the only valid complaint is the AI video#queen band#queen#roger taylor#roger meddows taylor#brian may#sir brian may#freddie mercury#john deacon#Queen I

Okay so I just rewatched the hot sauce video and there's more to the melody of the jingle. Like it's not a melody they made up on their own, "if your food is bland / and it fills you full of rage / don't get mad / go to lucifer's cage" doesn't complete the whole thing, and if Michael had actually sung it would have sounded incomplete. Which makes me wonder. Is there more that Adam just gave up on after trying to make Michael commit for a couple seconds? Or is Adam just really bad at writing jingles?
#i dont actually know a lot about writing music but i am a musician and i did listen to a lot of kids place live as a child#those are my qualifications to talk about this#and no one tell me im overthinking it because i know yall love that shit too#im also not the best with syllables but I'm pretty sure the numbers aren't quite right there#maybe adam learned it at camp and then forgot exactly how it went on account of being in hell for 1200 years#midam#spn#supernatural#adam milligan#jake abel

Just doing a silly thing, but the ship name debacle for myself had been bothering me for months, and I have it narrowed down to a few now. Doing a poll here bc discord mobile won’t let me do it anymore for some reason lmao.
Mourynn x Caithe ship name
(Also bc apparently even tho I tried hard to make it obvious with the mourning themes with her, it still didn’t come across easily to folks, but her name is pronounced like “mourn”. I’m just at the mercy of the name creator limitations 😔)
#polls#I do love the traditional combo names#but it’s hard with Mourynn’s name due to it being a single syllable (sounds like Mourn) so it clashes a lot with most names#I am sort of leaning towards Crystal Gloom#but my bias towards combo names is making this difficult to choose#I just wanted to check also to see if Crystal Gloom is recognizable and catchy/fun enough to identify them both with

Ok I know this doesn’t make it incredibly easier but what American (indigenous north and south) language would be the best with kana
gimme a sec i gotta look up some kana facts
...ok, i know cherokee is rocking it with their own syllabary (shoutout to the legend sequoyah!!), but the simple fact that it works well with a syllabary makes it a good baseline candidate. however they would have to reassign some phonemes.
#i don't have the spoons to dig deeper and compare phoneme inventories with syllable shapes etc.#because y'all there are a lot of indigenous american languages

I don't know if my elementary and middle school education was just leagues above some other schools or what, but sometimes I'm amazed at how much basic knowledge high-schoolers don't know
#in middle‚ there'd be like two or three people who had trouble reading and couldn't say a lot of words. who read aloud really slowly#and i always assumed “huh‚ maybe they have dyslexia. i'm not one to judge”#that's where i developed a habit of saying words people couldn’t figure out for them‚ so they could learn it and continue going#which was entirely socially acceptable in middle school but some people see it as rude outside of that apparently so idk#but like. i haven't heard a single person in high school (who volunteers or is picked on by the teacher) who can read text fluently#i havent had issues like that since maybe fourth grade. and when i was a little kid i HATED reading out loud for my mom#i dont know. people don't know how to read analog clocks‚ or how to count syllables‚ or what prepositions are and like.#maybe half of the reason i'm “smart” is my elementary+middle school. maybe we were an annomaly#is it public vs private schools? it's probably that#existenceunrelateds

#Doodles#SCII#Damned#ZEX#It's lonely at the top :(#Poor dearest is worse for wear ah </3#This scene made me cry ;;#Like it was sad when he wrote down his missing canonmates but going back in and writing everyone else's names ;;;;#Even his shaky alliances! Even the people he hasn't seen for a while!! Wehhh <3 <3 <3#You soft heart ;; I see you Admiral ♥#Also had a lot of fun writing in VUK ZIX again hehe ♪#The translations from VUK ZIX to English aren't exact - for starters they're upside down haha#So if you started from the top down it would actually read KINLEZ NATPAK but I figured that wouldn't be as readable#You read from the bottom up! I also still headcanon it being written/read from left to right#So he started with Zelnick then Fwiffo then Tanaka and so on#Although I did change it up for the second one - Teisel then Xelloss then Xigbar then Asch and Van#The more I think of it the more I'm surprised there's no H :0#Even just as a demarcation of a pause before during or after a syllable#The ''sh'' sound makes complete sense tho hehe <3#Any incorrect shaping of letters/poor handwriting on my part can totally be chalked up to ZEX not being used to human hands!#Totallyyy lol#I really like the way specific syllables are shaped - like how Teisel and Zelnick almost share the same shaped between ''SEL'' and ''ZEL''#How Z is a more connected extension of S just agh it's so pretty <3 <3 Eco_Mono really did such a lovely job with it ♪#And then certain ''incorrectly'' spelled syllables still turned out so pretty! Like the ''ANA'' in Talana - look how swoopy and continuous!#The ''BAR'' in Xigbar looks really cool - honestly reminds me of the fanweapons I made ages ago for I? think? Xigbar's apprentice??#It's been too long I don't remember now lol but it's cool to me in particular because of that!! :D#Fwiffo looks so funny haha - Tanaka has a cool star-like kind of letter in his name?? Man it's just so neat <3#As for ZEX - I mean he made it this far :( Not one to give up easily that's for certain ♥ Tenacious#I want him to be happy :'0

if you're bilingual/multilingual i really suggest doing translation as a hobby. nothing serious, just getting your favourite songs or poems or book passages in one language and trying to translate them into another one. it can be really relaxing, it has the same effect as doing a sudoku or crossword puzzle. it's just the right amount of challenging and soothing and also stretches your understanding of each language and may even reveal things about the meaning of the text you're translating! so if you wanna do something creative but feel kind of unmotivated, some light translating is a good way to go 👍
#i do this a lot these days its a nice way to wind down#its especially fun trying to find ways to get english songs to work in greek#cos phonetically theyre such different languages. wildly different use of syllables.#greek has some specific ass words for specific ass things and english has one word for multiple things#but then it also applies vice versa?? so theres no safe harbour#its really fun thogh. i did it a lot when i was younger reading greek translations of english books#and then getting pissed when i read the english version cos 80% of the time the greek translation sucked 😭😭#so i did it a lot out of spite. not entire books. but a good chunk of them#i did once translate an entire greek graphic novel into english 👍#so yeah#🍪
