so redhood's like the only bat-sanctioned crimelord right? he fucks with the robins and is still alive, he went toe-to-toe with batman (several times) and walked away from it, but also he implemented a no-bats rule and they (sort of) followed it!!

to us that makes sense, knowing that Jason's Jason and he's part of the batfam- to the rest of the city this new guy shows up, starts up his own gang, takes over crime alley and now THE Batman is listening to him??

im with you entirely, if it was anyone else in that story i wouldve already called the cops LMFAOOO kafka gets privileges because shes hot and my fav unfortunately… for the finger thing, i think its just one of her quirks! in her idle she mimics playing the violin and like you said she has very dexterous hands (even mentions it in a voice line) so i think she’d absentmindedly move them around when her mind is elsewhere. this is the kind of overthinking i was talking about, when i map out a character in my head i think about the most irrelevant stuff that dont matter😭 but imo they add to her charm a little and make her a rounder character, idk. arc v 66-80 thoughts! oh my God So Much Happens All The Time. we got to the fourth opening/ed already??? im halfway into the series I think and im shocked by the implications of the op/ed (that we'll seemingly be spending another full arc in synchro. not complaining I just thought this would be shorter, at this rate most of the series will be taking place in synchro wont it?? whats the synchro to standard episode ratio...)

ive never been to jail but i had a roommate that did and the incident actually had news articles about it so im gonna be vague but he hosted a party at his first school and a guest ended up shooting themself in the face with a gun owned by his then roommate. And what happened after that is my roomate and a bunch of other people got arrested and sent to jail and while in jail my roommate’s lawyer told him that he strongly suggests that they try and fight the DA from formally pressing charges (which probably wouldve been some type of manslaughter probably negligent since it wasnt his gun nor did anyone say it was his idea to play around with it while drunk but he did host the party) so he could have a clean record because being aquitted of manslaughter still doesnt look good. And I guess since he was in custody but wasnt charged yet there was no bond set because that comes after charges are accepted by a judge he just had to stay in jail for awhile. 

And when they moved him to county jail, for some reason, despite being a young college guy with a clean record, they decided to assign him to the inmate pod that is normally reserved for “Repeat violent offenders or inmates otherwise judged to pose a danger to themselves or others” despite the fact that if he allowed the charges to stick it wouldve been a first offense of someone with a clean record and no ties to organized crime. So essentially he got sent to the part of the jail that emulates a maximum security prison since thats where a lot of those guys are heading so it was the part of the jail with the worst conditions, the most terrifying inmates and the most sadistic guards but before that even happened he had to spend two weeks in solitary and was going utterly insane from that and he didnt know what was worse losing your mind and sense of self or living in terror of your life everyday. And his first cellmate was a middle aged white guy that my roommate initially saw as being one of the few normal-seeming inmates in a pod filled with actual killers and he just had no interest in spoiling that by asking the dude what his charges are since they got along but a few days later he saw him get beaten nearly to death by because a news article came out naming that guy as a child killer. Also since my roommate was white the Aryan Brotherhood basically had ‘sovereignty’ over him and he’d get approached by guys covered in Nazi tattoos wanting to ‘show him how things work’ but usually it was to extort commissary out of him but you see my roommate was also Jewish so the Aryan Brotherhood are definitely not “his people” nor is he “their people” so that was just constant terror. And his second cellmate was a really tall Black dude accused of murdering his girlfriend and he had the weird habit of getting up in the middle of the night to just stare at my roommate (supposedly) sleeping for long periods of time which was also terrifying. Anyway that actually ended up working out because he essentially became his cellmates ‘personal servant’ (you probably know the actual word inmates would use for this situation but I dont want to sound like Im insulting my roommate for doing the intelligent thing when it comes to survival) by doing all the chores for the cell, taking care of laundry, taking dictation for letters to the guy’s lawyer since prison letters have to be handwritten etc in exchange for direct personal protection. And since the guy was not only physically intimidating but also well connected with prison politics and respected in the Folk Nation which was the main Black gang the Aryan Brotherhood people stopped extorting comissary out of my roommate so that was actually the closest things got to working out. And like, maybe in a pod filled with DUIs and people in for mere possession you could get by if you project confidence and the right swagger but not in whats essentially maximum security because thats filled with people that dont give a fuck about killing because theyre not impressed by you not being afraid to fight theyre only impressed if you show you dont give a fuck about committing murder so keeping his head down and sticking with the most benign relationship he could find. 

 Anyway his lawyer’s plan worked and he got out after 6 months. Also one of the first things he did outside was change his facebook privacy settings since people were saying they were gonna look him up and add him

For those of you who do want some reflections, I am struck today by the media’s breathless recounting of how the ongoing negotiations over the two infrastructure bills shows that the Democrats are in disarray and President Joe Biden’s agenda is crashing and burning. The New York Times called a delay in the vote on the measures “a humiliating blow to Mr. Biden and Democrats” and wondered if “Biden’s economic agenda could be revived.”

Exactly a year ago, the news reported that Trump adviser Hope Hicks had coronavirus and that she had recently traveled with White House personnel on Air Force One. The stock market dropped 400 points on the news. The previous day had been the infamous presidential debate when Trump yelled and snarled at Biden, while his entourage, including Hicks, refused to wear masks despite a mandate that they must do so. We did not know who else might be infected.

Hours later, we learned that the president and First Lady were both sick, and within hours the president would be hospitalized.

The rest of the news provided a snapshot of the Trump presidency:

That was one single day in the Trump presidency.

In contrast, today, the Democrats are trying to pass an extremely complicated package, consisting of two major infrastructure bills, backed by different constituencies, that will alter the direction of our country by investing in ordinary Americans and revising the tax code to claw back some of the 2017 tax cuts the Republican Congress gave to corporations and the very wealthy. Although there is no guarantee they will pass, the bills are currently still on track, and all the relevant parties are still at work discussing them, exactly as one would expect.

What is the unusual piece in this process is that the other major American political party—the Republicans—is refusing to participate in the crafting of a major bill that is extremely popular.

This infrastructure package is huge, but it is hardly the only item in Biden’s agenda. In March 2021, the Democrats passed the American Rescue Plan, a $1.9 trillion economic rescue package that has helped the administration produce more jobs in its first six months than any other administration in American history.

Not a single Republican voted for that bill; it passed while they were focusing on the ungendered Potato Head kin and the decision of the Dr. Seuss estate to stop the publication of some of Theodor Geisel’s less popular books.

The economy has recovered in large part because of the Biden administration’s enormous success at distributing the coronavirus vaccines to every American who wanted one.

Republican lawmakers have worked against this process, and today we crossed the unthinkable line of 700,000 officially counted deaths from Covid-19.

Now, the administration has begun to put vaccine mandates into effect, and they are working. Those who insisted they would never get vaccines changed their minds when employers and public venues required them. Today, California governor Gavin Newsom announced that the state will require coronavirus vaccines for school children, along with the ten others it already requires, as soon as the Food and Drug Administration fully approves them for use in children.

Meanwhile, Republican-dominated state legislatures are following through on the voter suppression noted a year ago, passing measures to cut down Democratic voting and install Republican operatives in key election posts before the 2022 election.

As political scientist and foreign relations expert David Rothkopf tweeted: “Are the Dems the ones in disarray when they are crafting specific programs while the GOP offers up only cynical Tweets & obstruction? The only GOP agenda items are voter suppression, defending the worst president in history & when they have power, pushing tax cuts for the rich.”

For my part, I’m not sure what is driving the stories that seem to paint Biden’s work as a lost cause: The recent position that Democrats are hapless? That it’s safer to be negative than positive? That our news cycle demands drama?

Whatever it is, I continue to maintain that the issue right now is not Democrats’ negotiations over the infrastructure bills—regardless of how they turn out—but that Republican lawmakers are actively working to undermine our democracy.

You and your brother Arthur dismounted your horses and entered the valentine saloon where inside Charles, Bill and Javier were supposed to be waiting for you. Entering the smell of stale beer and cigarette smoke hit you immediately a smell a smell all too familiar to an outlaw like you, you both made your way to the bar where Charles and Javier were trying their best to seduce two disheveled prostitutes...which after Arthurs choice words 'how much are you? Anyway', was a waste of time.

'Wheres Bill?' You asked as you scanned the bar for any sight of him 'i dont know, probably taking a piss' Javier answered nonchalantly taking another gulp of his beer. You caught sight of bill coming back into the saloon and purposefully barging the person on the other side 'watch where you're going, you idiot' he spat as he shoved the man yet again, which made the man grab his shoulder and pull him backward before throwing his fist right across Bill's face with a satisfying smack.

You and Arthur met eyes as you both knew what was about to happen, Javier pushed past you and immediately punched the nearest person to him; you, Charles and Arthur joined in throwing punches and smashing bottles over peoples heads. Until you heard loud footsteps coming down the stairs causing some of the brawlers to make a run for it 'its tommy!' Your victim shouted before punching you in your unexpected state and running away, tommy ran over pulling Charles off of his attacker, javier jumped on his back in an effort to help Charles but he threw him easily onto the nearest table shattering it completely.

You and your brother approached him carefully, you gave arthur a nod sending him into attack mode he grabbed tommys arms and held them behind his back, giving you the opportunity to wail on his stomach each punch causing both Tommy to lurch forward in pain and another pain to shoot through your fist.

Tommy quickly freed himself instantly leaping forward and sending a hard punch right across your face causing you to fall backwards onto the bar, in no time spared he was throwing all he could at you. Arthur who had shaken off being tossed to the floor was now again trying to restrain him to no avail, you managed to duck out of the way of a few attacks before Tommy lifted you with ease and threw you through the bar window and into the freshly moistened soil outside, 'Christ' you whispered to yourself in pain as you tried to dust off some of the mud but it was no time to rest as not even a minute later Tommy was again bounding toward you 'no more fighting' he shouted crazily 'easy big guy' you chuckled as you put up your guard and adopted a fighting stance.

You watched his attacks carefully dodging and countering as best you could, until it was him on the floor 'go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep' you repeated with every punch until you were pulled off of him by Mr Downes 'stop... please, he didnt mean it. He's big and dumb, please sir/madam he meant no harm.... dont kill him' he spluttered as he knelt at tommys side checking him over, you ignored him and limped back over to your brother 'you ok?' Arthur inquired grabbing your chin and turning your battered face 'oww and yea why wouldnt i be?' You answered sarcastically as you began to rinse off your hands and face in a nearby bucket.

'Good fighting morgan, almost thought you were gonna kill the bastard' Bill chuckled patting you on the back to which you turned around and grabbed him by the collar pinning him against the wall behind you 'the only reason that wouldve been, would be because you fucking started a fight that didnt need starting' he said nothing as you loosened your grip letting him go 'you goddamn idiot', Arthur put his arm around you 'come on, lets go aint gonna get no leads now especially after that ruckus. Lets go home' you nodded and mounted up to ride back to Horseshoe.

Riding into camp you could already hear the earful you were gonna get from your girlfriend Abigail, so you hitched up your horse and carefully manoeuvred around the camp in an attempt to avoid her before getting cleaned up.

You weren't even a metre away from your tent before hearing 'what the hell is wrong with you' you stopped in your tracks and turned to where the voice came from 'Abigail, please not now sweetie. Everything hurts','well good i hope it does, that'll teach you to go starting bar fights' she stood over you hands on her hips her eyes fiery with anger as she looked you over.

'First of all it wasnt me who started it, it was bill and secondly what kind of woman says that to their partner' you began taking off your muddied shirt but began to struggle with getting it off as you may have dislocated your shoulder, although Abigail was pissed she immediately saw your predicament and began helping you pulling off each of the arms of your clothes 'why have you gotta be this way?' She spat as she produced a cloth and began cleaning up the mix of dirt and blood from your face making you wince from pain with how hard she rubbed, 'i dont know Abigail, it werent meant to go that way.

It just did and i couldnt not help my friends when theyre getting beaten','yea but i dont care about them y/n, i care about you and i dont want to have to bury you' you looked at her in bewilderment 'you ain't ever burying me, just stop being so dramatic' as soon as those words left your lips she harshly dragged the cloth over your possibly broken nose making you cry out in pain 'im just a concerned wife, why is that a crime, huh... i worry for our son seeing ya like this and how much pain your gunna be in tomorrow, so if thats me bein dramatic then.... hell thats me' she explained throwing her hands up in exasperation.

You chuckled as you gently grabbed her wrist pulling her to sit down next to you 'im a very lucky man/woman','youre damn right you are!' You both laughed at her comment, both interlocking your hands lovingly 'thank you, i mean it. I promise I'll do better for you and for Jack' her eyes met yours wide and besotted 'just dont get yourself killed... because, i love you y/n Morgan' you smiled resting your head onto hers taking in the sweet smell of her hair 'and plus the boy'll miss you','what about you?' You asked eyes returning to hers 'I'll be glad of the peace' she finished as you both burst into laughter.

- the hitman plot. god. we all hate that shit. what I realllllly hate is how long and drawn out it is. should've been one episode tops, like when dean tried it. But apparently killing someone beth, at one point, felt some typa way about...smh..apparently that is A ok and they don't even explore other options or feel the least bit guilty?? even when they "mourned" boomer it was more about marion than him. But rio and his whole ass innocent child are not a thought at all??? Wild. Truly. Also....what do they think will happen?? If I were a gang leader's right hand the first person I would check upon seeing my boss get murdered would probably be the person who tried to murder him last time lmao. Because the subtext and editing and parallels and all that would be fine and dandy but not when that's all the show is at this point. If dean cheating yet again is not gonna make beth leave him, nothing will. I want his screentime to be 30 seconds and nothing more.

-im just not invested in the boland children. Annie and ruby have both struggled real bad, but beth, the one in the deepest, has 4 children who are somehow unaffected by this?? Not to mention the whole divorce, wait never mind, oh look a gang leader hanging out with mommy again, oh look our house is empty, type stuff happening. - rio. At this point I'm rooting for him for than anything. But I genuinely do not know why he hasnt killed beth. She's proven herself to be more of a liability than an asset and I just cannot understand why he hasnt killed her. Unless it's the whole "feelings" route, which wouldve made him look dumb, but made sense based on what we were given. This is actually the direction I thought the season was going but now it just seems like he is a bad businessman lol. Obviously she cant die for the sake of the show, but its like they didnt even try to make it make sense. He definitely knows about the hitman btw. I dont really blame him for anything he's done with beth so far. He robbed her in retaliation. He had to cut her off when she started acting shady. 🤷‍♀️ he let's her get away with too much tbh. It's a shame that this character isnt being utilized. Its like they are banking on this mysterious aura to keep working, but we are 3 seasons in and it's a little old now. I personally think that they just don't know what to do with him now. Also can I point out how dumb he looks showing beth that he is doing business at the carwash, why would he give her more information than she needs when he is suspicious of her? I cant tell if I was happy with how unphased he looked about her outburst or if I wish he checked her.

-mick. Did his side plot with beth die? How does it seem like this show simultaneously moves through plots every episode but is also stuck in the same one for the entire season? I also think mick is not being utilized. As funny as it is for him to be a built in 3rd wheel all the time, they could do so much more. Like can you imagine if beth mouthed off or fucked up and mick checked her? The possible ways a plot like that could go...untapped potential.

-ruby. Ah...I remember when I thought her and stan's fight was dragging for too long. Miss those days. See even tho ruby and stan seem to have the same issue over and over it's not the same story. Pen cap, new job, sarah stealing, all the same fight, but with different stories. And it really seems like Ruby's always going through it but I appreciate the variety. Stan's storyline has been interesting but I dont know how much it relates to the central plot. Sarah....great. that actress is so talented and even tho shes an attitude machine (what preteen is not) i just love her scenes. Harry seems to be missing a lot. The hills are the only part I seem to enjoy anymore. Really wish the show would explore why ruby seems to be the one who keeps getting caught up with the law...I wonder what it could be....what is different about her..hm...

- annie. Backtracked so much. Wish she had a single plot that didnt revolve around men. Now shes trying to cheat on her GED. Where's the snark? Where's the wit? It seems like all she is now is a codependent insecure mess. And I'm tired of this fuckass therapist. I thought her study montage was gonna end in a "she didnt need anyone but family (:" lesson but it did not for whatever reason. I thought by bringing a therapist into the show it was gonna give us more of a look at Annie's and Beth's upbringing and relationship. Or help annie work through her issues, the boomer thing too. Or maybe lead to Beth's ptsd diagnosis. Therapy could've helped move the plot forward or help the characters grow, but it's doing the opposite of that. If its not contributing to the main plot, what is its purpose? To give annie yet another terrible love interest?

To summarize....I hate it here.

oh hell, and now i’m into tokusatsu too. i’m gonna miss lupat so much when it ends...i love my phantom thieves and international police so much. zi-o is often confusing and full of references i don’t get but it’s so freaking cool and i love the key characters so damn much and omg just give us kamen rider [lolspoiler] already, i wanna REJOICE

games, games...i bought way more video games than i played in 2018. i’ve gotta put a damper on that habit. part of it is, there were a few games i spent way more time and energy on than any others--pokemon ultra sun, armello, root double: before crime*after days, shin megami tensei: strange journey redux, and oh i still play a lot of fire emblem: fates despite its crappy writing--it’s just really fun to play.

i had so much fun with my family for christmas. above all, i was so happy getting to play with my cousin’s little girl--especially when she was so happy to spend time with me! my family’s so small, and i cherish all the time i get to spend with them.

i got to make friends with neighbors i didn’t really know so well--my street feels so much more like home as i get to know the kind people who live here too.

oh yeah...i kind of run a charity newsletter now! it’s not always easy, but it’s a really fulfilling task.

so many times looking back on this year i wanted to qualify each item with “but that wasn’t enough”. maybe my biggest accomplishment this year was getting to understand myself better; i can see more clearly now how negative and disorganized my thoughts get at times, but also how i’ve been able to recover from that. i hope that understanding can lead to less negativity and better executive functioning, that i’ll be able to accomplish more of the things i want.

i really want to fix my house up, and form some plan to make more money, whether it’s through work or going back to school or taking in a roommate or whatever combination of those things will work. i want to keep improving my health, most of all my mental health. i want to form better habits so i don’t so often feel like i’m “cleaning up the mess” from my depressive episodes. but on days i can’t do any of those things, i want to be patient with myself, too; the changes i’ve been through, as well as the ones i’ll continue to go through, they’re all hard and scary even when they’re for the better. I have to let myself heal through all of this.

btw, one of the things i said i wanted to do in 2018 was to complete my gen 7 pokedex in pokemon bank--it is now up to exactly 800, including all the pokemon that aren’t impossible to get (and a few that are)!

ive been home all week boarded up with bronchitis. needless to say its resulted in one big fat greek meltdown full of theatrics so many tears and a lot of despair about what im doing with my life. i think i might end it after all this, im not sure. decisions are hard to make what can i say.

im an art major and i have a huge issue with motivation, deadlines, a lack of guidance, and im an art major. what the fuhk am i even doing. 

i havent made a single piece of art in weeks. its like when i was starting lithium. im terrified.

also forgot about eating today, unless a handful of peanut m&ms counts. ive been eating so awful lately; id feel bad for whoever would have to clean my body if i hung myself haha the hell that would put them through to deal with it 

i finally got back to watching better call saul, caught up to where i left off, and continued on to what is now the latter half of season 2. i plan to finish and then jump right into the start of breaking bad again. i miss my old favorite show. 

i wish i had friends who really cared about cinematography and aesthetics because i have been wanting to just drivel on about how breaking bad and its spinoffs are the perfect ode to modern americana; the sheer amount of domestic, tame, almost siesta-hazy shots of just. life in desert america. fuels me with the want to draw so many cowboys in opulent garb in various states of undress (hubba hubba). now that i got that straight white woman out of my system, Anyways. 

my favorite part about the shows arent just that theyre interesting or edgy on the inside drama on the oustide, or the insane amount of ingenuity the show writers have (half the $hit they think up im astounded by and the other half my jaw is just on the floor start to finish), the long shots are what really gets me. theyre pausing, like taking a breath amongst all of the high wire, almost bleak scenes and plot regarding crime and how morally grey we all as people are. i also appreciate the humanity of each character -- theres some good parts in all, and bad parts in all that get more than a few lines. and even then -- hey, look at ernesto -- there is nuance. the show is so empty of fake characters. not a single one of them couldnt exist in real life for any reason. never do i question whether one character would or would not do something, because even if i were to have doubts gilligan & co back it up with so much context and reason that everything checks out before its even done. 

better call saul centers on one of my favorite characters from the original series and gives him a backstory. his character is absolute tacky insanity and you want to know during the entirety of the original series what could possibly go on after walt leaves that office. and better call saul not only does that but drags you along for a much more adrenaline filled explanation than you could have possibly asked for. 

but the still shots. god i love the still shots. like come on the theme to better call saul alone, with the overexposed fried images of oldsmobiles and phone books with gaudy ads and a statue of liberty inflatable. that alone is enough to wrap southwest americana of the past couple decades up in a tightly knotted bow. but then they go on, and let the freak flag fly in just about every episodes script. like come on they even bring up hummels. the scene they led into by wheeling the camera in on the seniors’ jello cart, thats genius. and complete with a tacky law ad at the bottom of the cup. the show from start to finish bleeds tack. and i love it. over the last couple months maybe a year or so i had kinda lost my grip on the cowboy blood i have, by which i mean this: if i were to be alive during the quote unquote wild west times i wouldve zipped out to the country to make a living on a ranch where id soon find a husband to spend my life with, there would be no discussion. to be out isolated with all that desert and not a single person to call you faggot or tranny or d*ke but yourself. thats the only thing i could possibly ask for. i could be me, and my husband would lovingly sew my nipples back on after i go insane and cut my tits off one night instead of bringing the horses in. a chestplate of scar tissue is miles more appealing than an a cup if you ask me. to go back to what i was saying, the cowboy blood in me is simply that--blood that fizzles and swims through my body and heats up at the idea of being in the desert and being myself, calling myself the man that i am with a man who loves me. (and some cool boots too)

i dont know what this post was. its not coherent, i forget to follow through on a thought a few times throughout, and i still dont know what i want to do with my life. what i do know is that before writing this i was debating slitting my wrists and now those thoughts have settled. i also have french homework to finish and a little over a season left of better call saul on netflix so i think with that i bid this post a passive adieu. think of the next entry as picking up where i left off.
