Animal person
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Sirius Black x Fem!Slytherin!reader
1.6k words
cw: smoking, drinking, fluff
With a drink in one hand and Marleneâs cat in your lap being pet by the other, sitting on the couch in the Gryffindor Common Room was proving to be more fun than you had imagined. You were only there since Marlene wanted Dorcas there and Dorcas didnât want to go alone. So, you got dragged from the dungeons to Gryffindor Tower. Conversations surrounded you as the Gryffindors animatedly told stories and jokes fueled by spiked punch. Marleneâs cat somehow managed to purr loud enough for you to hear her over everything around you.Â
âI swear, she loves you more than me!â Marlene pouts as she is snuggled into Dorcasâ side on the couch.Â
You laugh. âIâm an animal person, what can I say? They love me.â
As if on cue, the cat looks up at you and mews.Â
âHow come you donât have a pet then?â Dorcas asks, tipping her cup toward you before bringing it back to her lips.
âMumâs not as animal-friendly as I am,â you say with a shrug. âSo Iâm waiting until after Hogwarts when I move out.â
âGoing to get your own cat?â Lily asks from the chair next to you.Â
âNo. Dog.â
âDog?â Marlene gasps.Â
âIâm a big dog person.â
âAre you now?â James asks, suddenly joining the conversation despite having been in the middle of one with Remus and Peter.
âYes?â you reply, unsure why that caught his attention.
âYou should get to know Sirius then,â Remus says, gesturing to the window off to the side where Sirius is. Heâs leaning against the wall, peering out the slightly cracked open window. He blows a puff of smoke out into the night.Â
âHe likes dogs?â you ask.Â
âYou could say that,â James says with a twinkle of mischief in his eyes.
You look at the girls, trying to get a read off of them. They offer no insight to why the boys want to send you in Siriusâ direction.
âDidnât get the vibe that his family was all that into animals, based on Regulus.â
âYeah, well, Sirius, he's different than his brother, yeah,â James rattles off. âBit of a dog himself, if you know what I mean.â
Remus barks a laugh, leaning on Peter who is also laughing. The girls exchange glances of annoyance. You cast a wary look toward Sirius and take a sip of your drink. The cat nudges your now-limp hand, asking for your petting to resume.Â
âAnyways,â you say, trying to turn the conversation back from the boy smoking at the window, âany of you lot done Slughornâs essay?â
âI have,â Lily and Remus say at the same time, causing them to smile at each other and laugh.Â
âOf course our prefects have the homework done,â Marlene says.
âNot going to lie, Iâm more than okay I didnât score well enough to take N.E.W.T. level Potions,â Dorcas says. âNever really liked Slug anyways.â
âHeâs our head of house!â you laugh before taking a sip of your drink and then deciding to down it.Â
âDoes not mean I have to like him,â she defends. âI bet they all donât like McGonagall.â
âThat woman is a saint!â James declares.Â
âA saint who gives you detention once a week?â Lily snorts.Â
âSometimes more,â Peter corrects her. âDepends how busy we are.â
âAnd heâs usually busier than the rest of us,â Remus adds.Â
You gently shift the cat over to Marlene; it lets out a chirp of protest. You shake your empty cup in a silent explanation to Marleneâs confused look that she gave you. You head over to the punch bowl and refill your cup. Instead of returning to the couch, you decide to humor the Gryffindors and approach Sirius.Â
âIâve heard smoking is bad for you,â you say, leaning against the wall opposite of him.Â
He takes a drag and blows the smoke in your face, causing you to slightly grimace. However, once the smoke clears from in front of your face and you can see his smirk, you take the cigarette from his hand and take your own drag, blowing smoke back into his face.Â
âOi! Out the window!â some yells from nearby.Â
You hand Sirius the cigarette back.Â
âKeep it,â he says. âI got a whole pack.â
Youâre still holding out the cig to him.Â
âI donât smoke.â
He rolls his eyes.Â
âSo youâre just going to stand here then?â
You shake your head and take a sip from your cup. Once you lower it from your lips, he takes the cup from you, taking his own sip. When he gives it back, he takes the cigarette back.Â
âEye for an eye, huh,â you say, a smile playing on your lips.Â
âDrinkingâs bad for your liver,â he says, looking you up and down. âYouâre not a Gryffindor,â he adds after a moment.Â
âGood observation.â
He looks around the room as if taking account of who is all there. Itâs mostly Gryffindors, Dorcas and maybe two Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs. He looks back at you.
âWhoâre you here with? Not exactly open invite.â
You take a sip of your drink.Â
âWith you right now, arenât I?â Thereâs a hint of flirtation in your voice.Â
His eyes narrow.Â
âWho let you in?â he rephrases his question.Â
âMarlene.â
He looks back at the couch where Marlene was watching them intently. She was still leaning into Dorcasâ side and petting her cat. He hums, coming to a conclusion.Â
âMeadowesâŠâ He chuckles dryly. âHowâs my brother dearest?â
âApparently less into animals than you are.â
He cocks his head.Â
âThe hell is that supposed to mean?â
You shrug, taking the cigarette for another drag and this time, you blow the smoke out the cracked window. As you do so, the cold night air really hits your face and you relish how refreshing it feels compared to the hot common room.Â
âI said Iâm a dog person and Lupin declares I should get to know you.â
He barks out a laugh and shoots a look towards the boys who are all smiling wickedly as they have also been watching the two of you converse. You look between the boys and Sirius before taking another drag on the cigarette.Â
âSome joke Iâm missing?â you ask, forcibly placing the dying cigarette back in his hand. âPotter said you were a bit of a dog yourself,â you add, imitating James. âBut Iâd have to be dense to not know what that means.â
He looks back at you, smiling a bit wider now.Â
âAnd what does that mean?â he asks, ignoring your original question.Â
âItâs how you treat women,â you say with an eye roll.Â
You take a large sip of your drink before crossing your arms. You watch as his grey eyes take you in again. Trying not to feel unsure of yourself, you look him over. Heâs still in his uniform, although itâs more disheveled than it usually is, shirt untucked, sleeves rolled up and tie barely hanging on. His hair was partially tied back to be kept out of his face.Â
âI get good responses from the ladies,â he says nonchalantly.Â
âBut do you deserve it?âÂ
âThey leave satisfied and come back for more,â he says with a wink.Â
He snuffs out the cigarette and pulls out the pack to retrieve another one. You reach out to lower the box and put it back in his pocket.Â
âIt reeks.â
âBut you had some!â
âHmm, no. I donât smoke.â
He reaches into his other pocket and pulls out a packet of gum. He offers you one and you accept it, popping it immediately into your mouth.Â
ââPreciate it. Doryâs already going to kill me for abandoning her tonight; I donât need double time because of your bad habit.â
âDarling, you already smell of it.â
âBecause you blew it at me, instead of out the window.â
âYou just have all the answers, donât you?â
âMost of âem.â
âYeah?â His voice was teasing. âWhatâs something you donât know?â
âWhy your friends thought I should get to know you.â
âBecause Iâm an absolute delight.âÂ
You laugh. âRight, and Reg is a fucking ray of sunshine.â
âHeâs an acquired taste,â Sirius muses.Â
âLike youâre not?â
âI repeat, I am a delight.â
His gaze seems to be challenging you to disagree.Â
âYouâre an acquired taste too. And,â you sigh, âit appears your brother is more to my pallet.â
You pat his shoulder and give him a gentle smile before turning to head back to the couch. You can feel his eyes follow you. You pause in front of Dorcas and Marlene.Â
âMeadowes, do you need me to stay? Iâm thinking of heading back.â
Lily looks at you from her chair. âDid he say something?â
âHuh? Black? No,â you say, shaking your head. âJust done with tonight.â
âFine, go,â Dorcas says. You knew she was far too content to leave Marlene just yet, if at all that night.
Back in your own common room, you spot Regulus sitting on the couch by the fireplace. Heâs reading. You plop down next to him and rest your head on his shoulder. You hear him audibly sniff the air.Â
âWhy do you smell like my brother?â
âI was Meadowesâ escort to Gryffindor Tower tonight,â you say nonchalantly. âSurprise, surprise, he was there.â
âOkay, but you smell strongly of him.â
âSmoke and mint gum is your brotherâs signature scent?â
âThat and those leather jacketsâŠâ he mumbles.Â
You absentmindedly blow a bubble. He gives you a sideways glance.Â
âAt least tell me it was all consensual.â
The bubble pops.Â
âMerlin, Reg! I didnât shag Sirius!âÂ
He shakes his head, not believing you.Â
âHe offered me gum when I didnât let him light a second cig,â you defend, sitting up straighter.Â
Regulus hums as he turns the page of his book.Â
âââ
âWell, Pads, what did you think of her?â James asks after all four boys had abandoned the common room later in the evening.Â
âI think you need to stop sending girls my way because they like dogs.â
James and Remus exchange a glance.Â
âThat wasnât an answer,â Remus says.Â
Sirius rolls his eyes.Â
âAlright, she has my attention.â
Peter, Remus and James cheer at their success.

Masterlist

âJames, wait up!â you yelled across the courtyard, catching the attention of about everyone except James. You watched James turn the corner with Peter, an exasperated expression on your face. You looked down dejectedly but then you saw the stares of people around you. You grinned widely at them, covering up any signs of embarrassment.
âThereâs just something about boys and hearing problems,â you joked with a nonchalant shrug, and the surrounding students giggled in understanding.
You hummed to yourself while you walked off. Youâd give James his wand later. He probably wouldnât need it for Potions class anyway.
Peter looked up at James in confusion. âProngs, did you not hear her call out to you?â
James sighed. âWeâll be late for class if we stopped, you know. I mean, I love my girlfriend, but sheâs just sometimes a bit oblivious, and once she starts, weâll be stuck there,â James explained in a complaining manner.
âBut you love her,â came a voice behind him. Sirius parted James and Peter to walk between the two of them. âRight?â He swung his arms across the other maraudersâ shoulders.
James gave him an annoyed look. âThatâs what I said, but great hearing.â
âBetter than you if you couldnât hear her calling you,â Sirius laughed, but his eyes seemed to have lost a mischievous spark. âDo you think if you keep saying you love her, youâll actually believe it?â
James glared at him and shook of Siriusâ arm. âIf thereâs literally any guy I wouldnât take advice from, itâs you, Pads.â Sirius raised his hands in surrender. âTouchy today, are you Prongs?â
You sat down on the seventh staircase, opening your book. It was a muggle book that Lily had given to you as a birthday present. You looked at the necklace that James had bought you for your birthday. You had been afraid that heâd forgotten and been so thrilled when he had shown up at 10 in the evening.
The pendant was a flower, and even though you were not a botanical expert, you were very well aware that the flower was not a romantic rose or anything typically cheesy. You had a hunch what flower it was, but had refused to look it up, knowing that you would only be hurt.
Lily took a seat next to you. âThe seventh staircase? Really? Whatâs wrong with the third?â She asked, utterly out of breath. You laughed, âhey, you invited yourself,â you defended with a fond smile. âBesides, since this is the highest staircase, it is the only one that is always in in a downward position, and wonât tilt and go upwards.â
âI guess,â she grinned, and she scooted over to see how far along you were in your book. âOh my goodness, youâre getting to the good part!â she squealed happily. You gave her a warning look and closed your book. âNo spoilers,â you sternly told her. Lily rolled her eyes playfully and nudged you. âI would never spoil this for you.â
âAlice and Marlene invited us for Hogsmeade this afternoon,â she casually mentioned, but she fumbled with her hands, signifying that she was nervous about something.
You raised your eyebrows. âOh, well James and I were going to go together, so I donât think I can join you guys this time,â you hesitantly told her.
Lily bit her lip. âJames and the rest of the marauders already told Alice that they were going to join us this afternoon,â she softly explained. There was a conflicted expression in her eyes. âHe overheard Alice and me talking about it.â
You pursed your lips. âOh,â you nodded.
âY/N, why do you let him do this to you?â Lily decided to ask you anyway.
âIâm not letting him do anything to me,â you defended. âHe forgot to mention it to me, not a big deal.â
Lily protested. âWeâre literally leaving as soon as their class is over. He wouldnât have been able to tell you, Y/N. You wouldâve-â
â-been waiting for him,â you finished her sentence. You bit on your cheek in thought. âI know, Lily,â you sighed.
âThen why-â
âBecause I do believe he loves me,â you quickly tried to defend him, your voice raised in volume and Lily looked down. âHeâs not perfect, but no one is,â you convinced yourself, recollecting yourself. You leaned against the stair post and looked down at the other stairs that changed directions, and the panicking first year students, who still hadnât gotten the hang of it quite yet.
âHe makes me feel so loved, you know,â you sighed when you looked back at her. Lily looked at you sadly. âWhen he remembers you, Y/N. When he remembers he has a girlfriend.â
You didnât know what to reply because she was right. James could be the loveliest boyfriend when he wanted to. âItâs enough for me,â you eventually replied.
âIt shouldnât have to be,â Lily pointed out, but she sighed, knowing that this was a pointless battle. But she felt the need to bring it up whenever she noticed James discard you like that. She felt guilt. Both of you knew that the girl who was most often on his mind, was Lily.
Lily had finally given James a chance in their third year after a good two and a half years of Jamesâ advances. Having outgrown James and the maraudersâ childishness and bullying, specifically after the âSnape incidentâ, sheâd broken up with him only three months in, leaving him devastated. You had been his friend, mostly through Sirius and Lily, and you had found him in the common room, disheveled from crying, so you had comforted him.
Something inside James had felt a pull towards you then. A sense of comfort or familiarity no doubt reminiscent of Lily, and his mind had been set on you. Of course, you had rejected his advances for over a year, absolutely appalled by his seemingly quick recovery from his breakup. And so another year would pass.
You hadn't even seen it coming. You didn't have a romantic interest in James, until you did. All of the sudden, you found yourself in love with James Potter. Not that you would ever admit that, of course. No, you remained steadfast in your resolve to keep things platonic, as the mere idea felt like a betrayal of your friendship to Lily.
But Lily had noticed of course. You had looked away ashamedly while assuring her that you were sure that it was just a fleeting crush, something that would blow over soon. Instead of judgment, her face expressed understanding and compassion as she encouraged you to stop pushing your feelings aside, going as far as calling James over, effectively starting your relationship for you.
And now, she watched as James treated her closest friend like crap.
âHow about we head down in advance,â you suggested, dusting off your Hogwarts robe.
âYeah, about time, donât you think?â You peered over the stairs to see Marlene with her hands on her hips in a waiting manner.
âHey guys, what are you doing here,â you laughed as Alice dragged herself up the last few steps to stand next Marlene.
âPicking you up of course, the guys are all waiting outside.â
Your heart warmed at the thought. Of course your friends would never have left you waiting by yourself to no avail. With a fond feeling, you and your friends descended the stairs again to go to Hogsmeade.
Sirius was sitting on the ground, knees propped up while they were waiting for the girls. He twirled his wand between his fingers. âWhy are we going with McKinnon and such again?â
Remus next to him shrugged his shoulders. âThey invited us, I think.â
Peter shuffled his feet uncomfortable. âAlice was inviting Lily and James invited himself and us.â
James grinned widely. âI mean, how awesome is it to go in a big group?â He enthusiastically asked. It was a rhetorical question, but Remus still felt the need to respond. âThatâs great and all, but I thought you were going with Y/N?â
James blinked once and then twice. He jumped up from his leaning position against the wall. âShit.â
Sirius burst out in laughter and threw his head back, hitting his a little too hard against the wall. âOh Prongs, you crack me up,â he shook his head. âAnd you say that I am the worst at being in a relationship,â he huffed. James didnât have time for finding the humor in this situation though.
He started to pace around. He completely forgot to tell you, he realized. âIâll be right back, Iâm going to go find her,â he quickly made up his mind.
âFind who?â
Jamesâ head whipped around to find Alice and Marlene looking at him curiously. Trailing a few steps behind them were you and Lily, engrossed in a conversation about the book you were holding.
âYour girlfriend perhaps?â Marlene tilted her head innocently, but every fool could see the warning look in her eyes. âDonât worry, weâve got her back.â
You and Lily finally caught up to the group. âHey,â you awkwardly waved, relieved when Remus and Peter threw you a smile, and Sirius got up to pat you a little too hard on the back, making you stumble a little. You smacked him in return, but a friendly laugh on your face. âI will hex you Sirius,â you threatened half-heartedly.
âNot with Jamesâ wand, youâre not,â he replied and nodded towards the wand in your pocket. You huffed. âWell I donât need a wand, I can beat you up with my bare hands,â you joked. Sirius took a step back to scan you up and down. âNot with those arms, youâre not,â he grinned.
Something tugged inside James, and he surged forward to catch your attention. âY/N, how was your class?â
You frowned, but before you could answer, Remus spoke up. âShe didnât have class today, Prongs,â he remarked.
You nodded in confirmation but held up your book. âI read this book instead.â James instantly recognized the book âLittle Womenâ, one of Lilyâs favorites.
âThatâs a nice book,â he airily commented. Your brows shot up. âYouâve read this book?â James nodded. âWell, I listened to it, you could read it to me if you want sometime. I mean, Lily-â
âI knew you would never willingly read a book,â Sirius interrupted him suddenly. And Lily shot Sirius an appreciative look. James quickly looked away. Right. He quickly glanced at you, to see if you had noticed the way he had almost mentioned when Lily would read to him on date nights. If you had noticed anything, you didnât seem to show it.
James offered his arm, and you tucked the book under your arm before linking the other with his. âWhat fine weather, do you not agree, Milady?â James exaggerated in a posh accent.
You laughed and looked up at the sky. The sky was covered in dark clouds, and it looked like it could rain any given moment. âWhy the weather certainly is⊠weathering,â you managed with a covered grin.
You handed him his wand from earlier this morning. âAnd you forgot this in the library,â you added. James twirled it around and the wand disappeared up his sleeve. âIs that why you were calling out to me, darling?â
âSo you heard me?â
Jamesâ heart skipped a beat, and he racked his mind to find a suitable reply. A lie. âWell, Peter did, but we were already gone,â he managed to excuse himself. You frowned a little and looked back at Peter who couldnât look you in the eyes and you sighed.
âYou heard me,â you repeated, and your grip on his arm was loosening. He felt you letting go and quickly adjusted himself, grabbing your hand instead. âYouâre right, I heard you. Iâm really sorry I didnât wait for you,â he admitted. He brought your hand to his lips and pressed a kiss to it.
âOkay.â
When you arrived at the Three Broomsticks, James expertly pulled back a chair for you. âJust a butterbeer?â he asked. You nodded in response, but you hadnât said much to him anymore and James frowned at the lack of your enthusiasm. When he returned with everyoneâs order he sat down to your right, with Lily to your left. âTadah,â he said, and he held up an extra package of sugar triumphantly.
âMerlin, I still canât believe you drink butterbeer with extra sugar,â Sirius fake gagged. You kicked his leg under the table. âI just like sweet things,â you stuck out your tongue. âBesides, why are you not saying anything about Moony, he is literally crumbling pieces of chocolate in it right now.â
Sirius snapped his neck to Remus who looked up flustered. âHey, why are you attacking me,â he complained.
James grabbed your mug and quickly sipped away the foam on top that you disliked and dumped the sugar into the mug. âThere you go, on the house,â he proudly said. Your heart filled with fondness, and you appreciatively sipped from your drink.
James leaned in. âI love you,â he whispered, and he pressed a kiss to your temple, succeeding in making you flustered. âIâm in love with you too,â you mumbled back.
Gryffindor had won their first Quidditch match of the season and naturally, they threw a party in the common room. You had wanted to go when Remus and Peter had invited you, but James and piped up. âNo, she doesnât like those things. Too loud,â he confidently said, absolutely assuming.
âI like parties though?â you replied. You wanted to hang out with James and the marauders, and you were not scared of disagreeing with James. James looked at you with an unreadable expression. âOh, well obviously you can come if you want. I just didnât expect you to want to be among loud drunk people,â he recovered.
âWhat if she is one of the loud drunk people,â Sirius remarked from behind James. âJust because Li-â James elbowed him in the stomach and Sirius groaned.
Perhaps it would have been wiser of you not to go. Maybe you shouldâve been a little more like Lily, who had stayed in the dorms, snacking and reading. It sure wouldâve hurt less.
âYou will never compare to her.â
All you could manage was a bitter smile. James looked defiantly at you, but his eyes seemed to find it difficult to find focus. Your throat tightened and you tried to swallow, but still couldnât find an adequate response to Jamesâ hurtful words.
âI know that, James,â you eventually wryly replied. Of course you knew that, despite your attempts to be a better girlfriend by being more like Lily. You cleared your throat and furiously blinked away tears that threatened to show the impact of his words.
âYou should go get some sleep,â you murmured, and you tried to coax him into laying down on his bed, desperately trying to ignore the issue at hand. Perhaps if you paid it no mind, you could pass this off as nothing more than a drunken insult that you could pretend never happened.
But James doubled down.
âYou will never compare to her,â Â he repeated. This time he added some emphasis as well. You inhaled sharply. His words were no longer slurred, and his eyes seemed to bore right into yours. Youâve never felt so small in your life, your skin crawled uncomfortably as time passed in silence. You frowned deeply now and stared out the window behind James. What were you supposed to do with this information? It wasnât new, but it was the first time the words had outright left his mouth.
You looked him back in his eyes. âOkay. Iâm going to go and get you a glass of water for a hangover,â you slowly spoke up, trying to keep your voice calm. âDonât forget you said this. I want you to remember that you said this because I need you to apologize for it when I get back, James.â
James groaned; his headache started to get worse. âFine, go, but donât come back today, Iâve had enough. And I wonât apologize tomorrow either.â James turned around a faced his back towards you. He was drifting off. âYouâll forgive me anyway, you always do. Itâs the one thing youâve got.â He mumbled. âAt least youâre easier than her.â
Your face burned in embarrassment; your eyes shifted across the room as if trying to make sure no one had heard him. How long could you hold back your tears to keep your dignity, you wondered. Would you at least make it all the way to your own dorms?
âOkay,â you resigned shakily with a nod, slowly getting up while staring at his back. âI wonât be back.â
His breaths seemed to slow down to a steady pace, and you knew he had fallen asleep. Your arms hung defeatedly next to your body and your hand tapped your leg restlessly before reaching for your wand. You murmured a spell on the glass of water on his bedside. It would help him with his hangover tomorrow, and it would be the last act of affection you would direct at him, you decided.
You closed the door behind you and quickly untucked your hair from behind your ears, letting it cover your face. The path back to your own dormitory seemed longer than usual, each step weighed down by the burden of uncertainty.
You passed Remus in a hurry, who seemed to look at you in a concerned manner. Remus turned his head to see Sirius looking worried as well.
James stared at the ceiling. Against his own wishes, he remembered yesterday evening crystal clear. He frowned as he closed his eyes and sunk deeper into his matrass.
Of course he felt bad about what he said, but you were in so many ways like Lily. From the strange muggle expressions you had picked up from her, to your mannerisms, like the way Lily laughed with a hand in front of her mouth to cover her teeth, to your handwriting. Though he knew it wasnât fair to you, it was so easy to compare you. If anything, it was difficult not to do so. But he was sure he loved you regardless.
You never left Jamesâ mind as he got ready to head downstairs to the great hall. He should apologize to you, James figured. He walked over to his bed and downed the glass of water on his bedside. He laughed somewhat fondly to himself when his mind cleared up immediately. You had enchanted it, he realized. So how angry could you possibly really be, this time.
Feeling rather confident, James headed towards the Great Hall. The Hogwarts Great Hall buzzed with the usual morning chatter as students filed in for breakfast.
As he scanned the room, his eyes found you sitting beside Lily at the Gryffindor table. There was something different about your smile, a subtle sadness that didn't escape James' notice. He felt a pang of guilt wash over him, knowing he was the cause of your distress.
Lily, ever perceptive, shot James a cold look before nodding toward the empty seat next to her. James approached cautiously, unsure of how to navigate the tension that hung in the air.
"Thanks, Lily," he offered gratefully, though the discomfort in the atmosphere was palpable. Lily didnât spare him a glance and got up. âIâll wait for you outside,â she smiled encouragingly. She clasped her hands together and nodded at you before leaving. James stared at Lily.
You cleared your throat, drawing James' attention fully to you. His heart skipped a beat as he caught sight of your determined expression.
"You look dashingly beautiful today, darling," James remarked, hoping to lighten the mood with his usual charm.
But you met his gaze head-on, your resolve unwavering. "I'm not going to be the one you settle for," you declared firmly, your words sending a chill down James' spine.
Confusion clouded James' features as he struggled to comprehend your words. "Wait, darling, come on," he pleaded, reaching out to grasp your hand gently.
You pulled away; your tone was unwavering. "I'm not joking around, James. To me, we ended yesterday," you asserted, your voice steady. James felt a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach, realizing the gravity of the situation. That this wasnât a joke or a call for an apology. An apology wouldnât fix this, he realized. How could he fix this? Jamesâ mind raced.
"Yesterday- What? If it's about what I said, I was just drunk," he protested weakly, desperation creeping into his voice.
You sighed, feeling a mix of frustration and resignation. "You literally doubled down twice, James. Well, it doesn't matter anymore, but I wanted to close this off properly. That's it," you explained, placing your knife and fork on your plate, and pushing it to the middle of the table, where it magically vanished towards the kitchen. You rose from your seat.
James reached out to stop you, his words tumbling out in a rush. "Y/N, I swear, I was drunk. And I love you," he confessed, his heart was pounding in his chest. He felt his friends look at him in pity and he understood that they had already been filled in the situation.
But your resolve remained unshaken. "Yeah, I'm sure you love a certain part of me," you muttered under your breath, forcing a smile onto your lips. "Look, we can stay friends, yeah? You're a nice guy, James. And a damn good friend too, I just donât think you were ever ready for another relationship," you concluded.
James was stunned by your resolve, unsure of how to respond, just feeling defeat. He could see that you had closed off. Trying to maintain some dignity, he nodded in acceptance. "Okay.â He whispered quietly.
âWell then, I guess I'll see you later," you managed to say, as you awkwardly nodded, catching yourself as your hands were mid-air, ready to clasp together the same manner Lily always announced her leave. Instead, you awkwardly held two thumbs up before turning on your heels.
As you walked away from James, a whirlwind of emotions churned within you. On one hand, your heart ached with the weight of unspoken words and unresolved feelings and heartbreak. You had been so in love with James.
On the other hand, somewhere deep down, you knew that the only way to get him to keep wanting you, was by imitating the girl he actually wanted. You had let so many things pass, not wanting to break up with James. But youâd done it. It was over. And you almost felt guilty for feeling so relieved.

happy valentine's day!
MONDAY: 13:52Â
âhi.â Peter squints at the message, then the unsaved number. He's not sure how, but itâs a scam.Â
âiâd like to have your attention, please.â Peter rolls his eyes, swiping left to not only delete but report the number as junk. No doubt it was a bot or someone with a flair for sextortion.Â
A new number. âthat was actually so rude of you, parker.âÂ
âunblock me right now.âÂ
Peter shifts in his seat, he does a slow look around the room and finds nothing off putting or alarming.Â
âWho is this?âÂ
Green bubbles pop up. âunblock me and iâll tell you.â Peter was right to guess about extortion. Another swipe, blocked and reported. Peter wasnât participating in any games.Â
A new number. âoh, now youâre just being cute.âÂ
Peter feels his heart pick up a bit, itâs a tad threatening and now heâs overthinking it a little. What if someone has it out for him? Is there a mark on his back? âPlease leave me alone.âÂ
âno.âÂ
âcan we play 21 questions?âÂ
Peterâs face scrunches up, he spins his head around one more time, someone is fucking with him. He has no clue who has time for something like that in university, but heâs not a willing participant anymore, not since high school.Â
âLeave me alone. Go torment a freshman.âÂ
âi donât like freshmen. i like you.â Peter chews at his bottom lip, there was a second of hesitancy but he knows the truth deep down. âIâm blocking you.âÂ
âsure. iâll keep texting you, too.âÂ
âIâll change my number.âÂ
ânoooo please donât do that. i had to work hard enough to get it the first time.â Peter doesnât respond. He blocks the number and moves on, and they donât try to text him again.
Until the next day and Peter knows two things for certain. There is a note in his backpack, and it wasnât there before his econ lecture. He remembers pulling that pocket open before he started notes, then when he went to zip it up, a note.Â
This upsets him. What good was any sense when someone could get that unnoticeably close to him without him knowing? Second, itâs a little frustrating not to know who this person is and how it most likely is connected to the texts he had a few days ago, and that itâs an extremely long played joke thatâs mostly boring.Â
âPeter Parker-Â
Youâve been secretly admired. It might not be very secret, because I think youâve caught me staring at you a thousand times. I like you a lot.Â
Hopefully liked back,Â
-XâÂ
But a part of him believes itâs true. Heâs trying to think of whoâs in his lecture, if heâs caught them staring then theyâre either to the side or behind him. There are too many faces, too many times heâs been looked at, heâs almost centered, itâs his fault for choosing a focal point.Â
Instead of throwing it away, he refolds the pink handwriting and puts it back into place before hitching a strap over his shoulder and sliding behind chairs. One, two steps up he glances at your face, you have a weak smile, he returns the same kind, itâs more like a polite nod. Peterâs always thought you were pretty and he thinks you're nice.Â
But really, heâs wondering who left the note.Â
10:30
âdid you get my note?â Peter does his normal scan across campus, again, his fault for being out in the open. This person could be anywhere, heâs on a picnic bench with a group of friends. If heâs smart, heâd start limiting himself to contained spaces and make you show yourself.Â
âYeah. Who is this?â Peterâs thumbs dance around the screen waiting for a reply, it comes quick. âi told you. x.â He stops himself from rolling his eyes, he doesnât know anyone with an âXâ anywhere in their name.Â
âIs that an initial?âÂ
âactually, iâm pretty sure itâs british for kiss.âÂ
âThatâs a wild take. Are you saying the UK is responsible for XOXOâs?âÂ
âiâd like to make you responsible for my xoxoâs.â Peter chews his bottom lip, he wonât play into anything in writing. He doesnât believe this for a second, everything about this feels off. Someoneâs fucking with him and theyâre also in his class, or they have someone in on it in his class.Â
But this is too advanced.
âsorry. i donât mean to like harass you or anything. youâre really hot but you scare me, i donât think you would like me so idk, maybe if you talk to me youâd like me for me or something.âÂ
âi just think iâm punching wayyyy above my weight class here and i may be making this worse because there is no doubt you think im weird.âÂ
âi am weird. i should leave you alone now. iâm sorry.âÂ
Peter reads his screen four times, itâs still not clicking. Heâs nothing special and he doesnât mean that in a way to dog on himself, heâs just nerdy and quiet. It seems a little too authentic to be fake, but heâs got to make sure.Â
âHowâd you get my number?âÂ
âyour friend. they have been sworn to secrecy but they know what iâm doing and they are in full support. take that as you will.âÂ
âDepends on the friend.âÂ
âiâll tell you when you find out who i am.âÂ
âIâm going to find out? Youâre not going to tell me?âÂ
âi donât think iâve been hiding it. you just havenât been paying attention and now i want you to.âÂ
âOh, but youâre shy?âÂ
âiâm about to pass out on the lawn behind this fucking screen, donât play with me parker.â A slip, youâre around him and you just admitted it. âTell me, admirer, what are you wearing?â The more detail the better, but he could work off of just a color.Â
ânice try. but youâre looking mighty handsome in the blue.â A glance down, he suddenly feels watched. âAre you stalking me?âÂ
âoh no! no no no. i PROMISE you iâm not that fucking psychotic.â
âiâm just a âsneak a note into your backpackâ level of crazy. iâm here with my roommate and her boyfriend. i saw you and just wanted to know if you got it, i promise.âÂ
âYou do understand that this situation makes you seem psychotic, right?âÂ
âyes. but i am not.âÂ
âThat sounds like something a crazy person who got my number from a third party would say. Especially after I blocked you six times.âÂ
âit was three and you didnât understand my intentions but okay. you have a fair point and i extend the olive branch of brett. he gave me your number and he knows me pretty well.âÂ
Brett? Easy enough, he nods his head towards him and slides his phone across the table. âExplain.â His friend scrolls through the thread, a trustworthy smile spreads. âYeah, I gave her your number.â Her. Okay, itâs something. âWho is she?â Brett shrugs, âyou know her. Sheâs kind of a firecracker, you just make her nervous.âÂ
âThat gives me nothing, Brett.â His friend blinks, âsheâs not crazy. She likes you a lot for whatever fucking reason and has no idea how to approach you.â Peterâs letting his words soak in, âdonât believe me? Ask her about the grilled cheese, and make sure you tell her that I told you about how she went on for five fucking minutes about the grilled cheese.âÂ
âWhat grilled cheese?â Brett slides Peterïżœïżœïżœs phone back, heâs telling him to ask you. Something tells Peter itâs enough to embarrass, or it might be Brett being the ultimate wingman.
âIâve been told to ask you about the grilled cheese.âÂ
âoh god. there is no need to ask about the grilled cheese, did brett tell you about the grilled cheese?âÂ
âHe told me to ask you. And to specify that you went on for five minutes about it.âÂ
âfive is excessive, it was more like three. second, there is nothing to speak about.âÂ
âI would like to hear about it.âÂ
âiâd prefer if you didnât.âÂ
âBut youâll do it for me?âÂ
âiâm weak for you and you know it. itâs sicking, parker.âÂ
âi heard you talking about making one in class and you said something about the crust and i really fucking love grilled cheeseâs so i had a trip to fantasy land where you made me one and how itâs probably the best thing iâll never get to taste.âÂ
âWow. Five whole minutes on that?â Peter wonât admit it made him feel a little warm on the inside, the most mundane of things to have someone so squirrely makes him feel unworthy.Â
âthree.âÂ
âTell me who you are and Iâll make you a grilled cheese.âÂ
âyou have no idea how much that almost worked.âÂ
âWhatâs the plan then, master manipulator?âÂ
âi donât know yet. iâm hoping you show me how smart you are and figure me out, then you can do all the hard questions.âÂ
âHard questions?âÂ
âyou know, do you wanna go on a date, do you wanna be my girlfriend, do you want to take my hand in marriage and have a summer home in the french alps? that kind of stuff.âÂ
âTotally not psychotic.â Peter tucks his bottom lip between his teeth to hide the smile that wants to spread.Â
âmostly not.âÂ
WEDNESDAY: 13:57
Peter doesnât know who X is, but theyâre clever and have zero effect on his sixth sense. He doesnât know if thatâs a good or bad thing. Either way, heâs reading a note scribbled in blue pen and as he studies the words he knows it was rushed. Itâs proof that he wasnât being followed everywhere, instead you saw an empty table and an opportunity.Â
âPeter-Â
You use mostly gender neutral pronouns. I think thatâs very cool. Is it weird that I notice those things about you? Also- what is it that youâre always drinking from Nuthouse? Asking for a friendâŠÂ
Have a good day!Â
-Your not so secret admirer, X.Â
âNot so secret,â Peter isnât sure about that. Youâve done a good enough job at not trying to be obviously known, he might have looked up your number last night to find dust. One was from an app, but the one youâve been using is a burner phone.Â
What heâs really not understanding is how youâre able to get so close to him without him noticing. You had to have been millimeters away when you rested the letter on his backpack, he was gone for less than two minutes and he had zero awareness.Â
Peter folds up the note and sticks it in the same pocket as the other one, his back slung around one shoulder as he moves up the stairs for the library. At the same time, you come down the opposite side, Peter gives a friendly acknowledgement.Â
You choke down the lump in your throat. âHi, Peter.â Heâs already past you, itâs echoed behind his shoulder. âHey.â Itâs something. Youâre trying, youâre trying to be bold for him. But heâs not going to notice, heâs never going to notice you and if you tell him who you are youâll never live past his disappointment.Â
Your phone vibrates, the other phone. Your heart picks up, Peter texted first.Â
 14:02Â
âDirty chai.âÂ
âbest of both worlds. how fitting. youâre such a nonconforming king.âÂ
âI donât even know what that means.âÂ
âBut thank you?âÂ
âyouâre welcome!âÂ
âanything fun on the roster today?âÂ
âRoster? Who are you?âÂ
âidk you make me nervous. blame yourself.âÂ
âWell, coach. Nothing fun on the roster, just some math. Wanna swap places with me?âÂ
âgross. i hate math so if you like it thatâs good with me. one of us has to be smart and itâs not me.â
âSmart enough to use a burner phone.âÂ
âoooooh, someone tried to find meeee.âÂ
âCanât blame a guy for being curious, can you?âÂ
âwere you disappointed when you found nothing?âÂ
âA little bit. But, you know, it keeps the imagination alive. A little unfair advantage on your side though, you already know what I look like.âÂ
âif it helps, you already know what i look like too.âÂ
âI do?âÂ
âyeah. weâve talked before.âÂ
âWait, so I know who you are?â Brett said he did but Peter thought he meant youâd be familiar, not that he actually knew you. This just opened the floodgates to a million more possibilities.Â
ânot really but yeah i guess. you know i exist but weâre not friends or anything.âÂ
âIâd like to think weâre friends, but okay.âÂ
ânot outside the texting.âÂ
âThatâs your decision.âÂ
âHATER.âÂ
âAnymore hints?âÂ
â.... no.âÂ
âHATER.âÂ
FRIDAY: 12:15
Youâre about to spill hot tea everywhere but itâll be worth it to see his face. You ignore your pounding heart and stand in front of him. Heâs got no clue you showed up, zoned out looking at the clock on the wall across from him.Â
âHi, Peter.âÂ
Full frontal attention, heâs looking at you. Heâs perceiving you, heâs smiling at you. âHi,â your eyes expand, he knows your name and it sounds so nice coming from his mouth. Sure, youâve chatted with each other- even shared a few highlighters, but nothing serious. Youâve always been too scared to try anything else but maybe your fear has been mistaken for indifference.Â
âI um, I lucked out today at Nuthouse so if you like dirty chaiâs I got an extra one.â Your knees feel weak at his bright eyes, âmy favorite. Iâd love one, thank you.â You pass over the paper cup, your fingers brush and you think youâre about to collapse.Â
âYeah,â a weak laugh. âI had a feeling.â Peter tilts his head at you funny, you wonder if you pushed a little too far. âOkay, um, Iâm gonna⊠have a good⊠lecture.â Peter nods and watches you go two rows up, heâs finally got a gut feeling. And it tells him to keep an eye out for you.Â
TUESDAY: 12:10
Not that Peter was reliant on your attention, he was used to it. So when the texts stopped for three days and he was unable to find any letters he assumed you had lost interest and moved on. That felt fair to him, no harm no foul, at least he never really got to know you.Â
Nevermind, thereâs a folded notebook page on his miniature desk and his heart speeds up. His next task, put eyes on you. Bottom level, book and pencil in hand. He makes sure to note itâs a pencil and not the green ink thatâs spread across the page.Â
Peter thinks itâs a mind game, you were smart enough to know heâd look. Unless he was totally wrong on his guess.Â
âPeter-Â
I ran out of minutes on my phone and Iâm having a broke college kid moment. However, a friend took pity and donated a twenty to the campaign. I hope youâve been good- Iâve missed talking to you.Â
- Your not so secret admirer, XâÂ
ps. stop keeping your backpack so close to you.â
It wasnât anything personal, you just ran out of minutes. Peter smiles so wide he has to drop it, he almost clutches the paper to his chest in a thank you. Eyeing his backpack, he nudges it a little further behind him, following instruction. Heâs kept it close in hopes to catch you, but instead heâs pushing you away.Â
Peterâs committing the writing to memory as if heâs going to find you by the handwriting alone. A quick glance at footsteps, youâre three steps away when you smile. âHi, Peter.â He nods, âhey.â You pause for a moment, mind racing for words.Â
âDid you, um- did you do anything fun this weekend?â Youâre about to crawl into a hole and die, it takes a moment to click that you were speaking to him. He went as far to look behind himself, then he spewed the answer to try and make up for the lost time.Â
âOh, uh not really. My aunt got a new bed so I had to lug the old one down seven flights of stairs.â Your eyes widen, you feel your mouth go dry and your tongue go thick. âBy yourself?â Peter crosses his arms over his chest, a boyish grin swept over and you feel heart eyes form.Â
âIâm a good nephew.â You want to pat his head and tell him youâre sure he is, then maybe hold him at gunpoint and tell you more stories about how heâs a perfect humanitarian. But you act like a normal human and smile back, âyou sound like it.âÂ
Peter thanks you and you return to your seat with wobbly knees and a weak stomach, itâs silent torture to tease yourself like this with him. But you canât help it and itâs only in effort to go after what you want. Even if it blows up when he figures out who you are.Â
12:13
âyouâre looking mighty handsome today, mr. parker.âÂ
âIâm wearing a hoodie, but thank you.âÂ
âi said what i said.âÂ
Boldly, âi see someone had another dirty chai. canât stay away from them, can you?âÂ
Another tick in Peter's stomach, he almost looks behind his shoulder at you, but he doesnât. âIt was a generous donation from a classmate.âÂ
âoh? pray tell, peter. pray tell.âÂ
âWhat? You donât have a clue about who gave it to me?âÂ
You swallow thickly, before you could get something out he sent another message. âNo chance you didnât see it go down?âÂ
âhow could i? I was still on my way.âÂ
â... or was i?âÂ
âTell you what, X. It one of the best teas Iâve had in a while.âÂ
And youâd be damned if that didnât make your entire chest flutter.Â
FRIDAY: 15:29
âHere,â Peterâs hand clasped over the paper slapped into his chest. A hint of a syllable, Brett cuts himself off. âShe asked me to give this to you.â Peter quickly read it and stared down before confiding in his friend for a second.Â
âPeter-Â
Roses are red, violets are blue, all that I think about is you.Â
Itâs sweet in a cringy way, right? Boo on you for skipping class today, if you want, I could get you some notes.Â
I hope Iâll see you Tuesday.Â
-Your (really) not so secret admirer, X
ps. A pen exploded in my pocket. 10/10 chance my thigh will be stained.â
âI think I might know who it is.âÂ
âUh, huh.âÂ
âBut, sheâs way out of my league.âÂ
âCorrect.âÂ
Peter raised his eyebrows, âso itâs her?â He clarified with your name, Brett shrugged back.Â
âI wonât be confirming or denying.â Peter knows what that means, âthe lack of a no usually means yes.âÂ
âBro,â Peter starts sputtering, âoh, câmon! You know what I meant, I just meant that, I just- câmon, Brett. Is it her?âÂ
âI have no idea who that is.â Peter wants to call bullshit, he has a gut feeling and he swears itâs you. Youâre right, itâs not so secret. In fact, youâre painfully obvious.Â
FRIDAY: 23:14Â
âyou are soooooooo cuteâÂ
âlike your hair is so cuteâÂ
âi looooove curly hair on guys and you have that!!!!!!!!!âÂ
âand youâre really funny cause like itâs so quick and witty like you have such good one linersâÂ
âalso youâre really fucking hot and i KNOW youâre hiding something under those fucking sweaters and the second i see skin i WILL go feral.âÂ
âSomething tells me youâre at the Kappa party.â Peterâs pretending he doesnât have a searing blush. If heâs got an inkling this could be you⊠then he might have proof for the non-believers that god exists.Â
âyes!!! are you here?? i should come see you.âÂ
âI hate to disappoint you, but Iâm currently at a friend's house playing a Mario Kart drinking game.âÂ
âBut itâs nice to know that youâd give me your identity that quick.âÂ
âoh i can tell you who i am.â Peter frowns at the text, heâs been doing nothing but crave the answer to whoâs behind the love letters but it feels wrong. Itâs not satisfactory enough for him, itâs also not what you want, youâre just drunk- and Peterâs going out on a limb here- horny.Â
âSave it for later.âÂ
âAnd maybe drink some water.âÂ
âiâd do anything for you cause you have the world's prettiest brown eyesâ
âThank you for the compliments.âÂ
âyouâre super welcome i try to hold them back because iâm a good girl but youâre just so cute i had to let you knowâÂ
âI think youâre going to super regret this in the morning.âÂ
âfalse. maybe fact idkâ
âi should trust you tho because youâre super smart and youâre a nerd.âÂ
âI fear this is taking a turn for the worse.âÂ
âand that is so fucking HOTâ
âOh. Back to compliments. Thank you.âÂ
âif you were here iâd give you a kissâ
âIGNORE THAT!!!!â
âI DIDNâT MEAN TO SEND THAT!!!! IGNORE ITâÂ
âNot ignored. How cute.âÂ
âscreaming crying throwing upâÂ
âi really didnât mean to send that it was a joke ha ha funny.âÂ
âIdk, sounded authentic to me.âÂ
âpeter?âÂ
âYeah?âÂ
âiâm a little drunk rn. and you should know how cute you are.âÂ
âOh, Iâm talking about record breaking levels of regret. This is amazing.âÂ
âi have to pee but i do not reget this!!!!!!âÂ
SATURDAY: 09:54
âi stand by my claim and do not regret a thing.âÂ
âcorrection. i regret this hangover and the way my previous texts are not very cool girl of me.âÂ
âbut i would like to know if you won mario last night.â
âalso, whoâs ur fav character?âÂ
11:12
1. Proud of you for owning it, thatâs very cool girl of you.Â
2. I did not win.Â
3. Petey Piranha.Â
âwho tf is petey piranha.â
âMario Kart Sunshine. Came out in 2002. (Originally on GameCube but recently released on switch.) (Hell yeah.)âÂ
Your heart thumps, heâs such a nerd and you wanna kiss the air out of his lungs. âout of all the characters and u choose him. why petey piranhaâÂ
âOne guess.âÂ
âPETEY PIRANHA.âÂ
âOH MY GOD.âÂ
âyouâre petey piranha <333âÂ
Peter fights a grin, âI am.âÂ
âyouâre so cute. i love that.âÂ
âPersonally, in the past 24 hours I donât think Iâve heard enough about how cute I am.â
âyouâre insufferable and itâs sexy.âÂ
âOo, new one to the mix. Youâre making me blush.â You really are. Heâs never been considered sexy before and it feels really nice.Â
âand i bet you look super cute.âÂ
âSuper true.âÂ
TUESDAY: 12:34
âwhite t shirt white t shirt white t shirt WHITE T SHIRT.âÂ
âYou like?âÂ
âiâm about to cry iâm biting my fist so fucking hard.âÂ
â:)âÂ
âyouâre so ubuibabeyia.âÂ
âBless you.âÂ
â?âÂ
âSorry, I assumed you sneezed.â Peter never whipped his head around so fast at an audible laugh behind him. It was short, it had escaped without being thought about. Heâs looking for you, but it doesnât seem like it was you who laughed. Youâre engrossed in chatting to your neighbor.Â
On the other hand, you almost blew it by clasping your hands over your mouth. Instead you looked next to you and said, directly and with a burning gaze, âI need you to pretend weâve been talking this whole time.âÂ
âSomeoneâs losing their edge, youâre just begging to be caught.âÂ
âoh, iâm begging all right.âÂ
âcan you hear me whimpering too?âÂ
âEasy, killer. Letâs not start sexting at noon on a Tuesday.âÂ
âare you saying there is a time for it?âÂ
âGive me a little wave and weâll see.âÂ
âtoo late, iâm passed out on the floor. the only thing that can resuscitate me are those thick arms wrapped around me.âÂ
âLet these strong arms sweep you off your feet, all you gotta do is come talk to me after lectureâŠâÂ
Peter says that, but he doesnât mean it. Heâll definitely eat his words when he sees itâs you, then heâd be coming up with a thousand ways to back out of it. Heâs so much more than you deserve, you feel so safe behind a keyboard but in person you can barely say a sentence.Â
Itâs stupid and a little humbling because youâve never felt this way about a guy before.Â
âtrust me, iâm better in your imagination.âÂ
WEDNESDAY: 14:22
âPeter-Â
You know a little about a lot and I think that is one of my favorite things about you. Or maybe itâs your voice. I could listen to you talk forever.Â
-Your not so secret admirer, XâÂ
A note under his textbook, if he follows his hunch then heâd be looking for⊠you. Conveniently three tables away and to the right of his own, youâre not looking for his reaction, youâve got your focus on your own textbook but he swears youâre retaining none of it. Itâs a distraction, or maybe itâs a diversion.Â
Peter doesnât mind. Heâs going to wait. He has all the time in the world today and heâs going to sit here with his eyes on you until you look up at him because he knows youâre going to and once you do, heâs going to have his answer.Â
If heâs right, and he swears he is, heâs going to absolutely lose is shit because what do you mean you like him and are intimidated? You boldly lied when you said you were punching above your weight class. Does it make him a jerk to say he wasnât even thinking of you as a suitor and maybe a girl with a much more average look?
Peter counted to sixty twice, you glance up, eyes shooting to the note you left on the table. The next stop, Peterâs face. And oh, you were not prepared to have him looking right back. Panic, you shoot a wave, a desperate attempt to pretend youâre seeing a familiar face.Â
Peter waves back but he looks much more satisfied than you did, you wonder if the jig is up. Did he crack the code? Was he just trying to find a friendly way to let you down? Deny til death, he has no proof itâs you. You pack your things up, a hurried scramble before you could lose your cool.Â
On the way out you almost stop breathing, your forearm caught in Peterâs hand. Youâre staring down at it, heâs not removing it. It burns in the best way. âHey,â you wait, you canât stop looking at his hand, the muscle, the subtle flex, his fingertips paler to show his grip. âHi, Peter.âÂ
Itâs breathless, you think youâre about to die. If he asks, you donât know how youâll lie your way out.Â
Guess whoâs got a stained pocket? The corner edge darkened with black ink that would never be washed out. Peter has his answer. Youâre her. Youâre X. âThanks again for the tea.âÂ
Maybe you wanted more, you feel a bit deflated when itâs all you receive.
âYouâre welcome.â Your arm feels cold when he drops his touch, you linger for a second too long, youâre not sure when youâll be this brave again. It was too much of a close call. âI hope the rest of your day is good.âÂ
Peterâs got a charismatic grin, he feels settled now that he knows youâre the anonymous lover in his life. Even more so when you find yourself shy and reserved in person, it almost makes him giggle to think of the stark changes in confidence.
âYou too.â Your body engulfs into flames when your arm is caught again, youâre struggling to keep calm at his boyish smile. âQuick question,â you nod slightly, trying to show zero paranoia for the following words.Â
âDo you have a boyfriend?âÂ
Short circuiting. You see black spots, you think youâre about to pass out. There is only one thing that means, no guy asks that if they werenât interested in changing that, right?Â
âNo.â Itâs anything but graceful. It sounds like youâve never had a boyfriend before. It makes you sound like youâre scared he asked it.Â
But, Peter doesnât take it like that. He smiles wider, like he already knew the answer before he asked it.
THURSDAY: 16:37
A new letter, stuffed under the top handle of his backpack. Peter listened and stopped setting it next to him, in return he was rewarded. He canât stop the small smile, you make it involuntary at this point. Peterâs never felt so special in his life, a little part of him wants this to never end. But heâd much rather look you in the eyes.Â
âPeter-Â
I had a dream with you in it last night. Donât worry, you had your clothes on. Iâm not sure what we were doing but you were across from me at a diner and we were sitting in those super thick booths and our friends were there.Â
I donât know who these friends were, and I donât think you do either. But I knew them as our friends.Â
It felt really nice. Iâm happy to know you, even if I just get this little piece.Â
-Your not so secret admirer, Xâ
Peterâs been wrong a lot in his life but this time he really thinks he has it figured out. Heâs much more bold now, this letter tells him itâs not infatuation, itâs love.Â
You love him and he thinks he could love you too.Â
FRIDAY: 20:08
âHey.â Peter could be making the worst decision of his life here, he could be reading everything wrong and ruining this for himself.Â
âhi peter!â But he really thinks heâs got it right. Â
âI really, really liked talking to you for the past few weeks but I think I should tell you that I like someone else.âÂ
Gut wrenching despair. You knew it was too good to last, you knew heâd find someone more in his league. Someone whoâd be willing to show him their face. There was no reason to respond because what would you say to that?Â
âthank you for letting me know that opening up to you was all for nothing!âÂ
âthanks for making me doubt love!âÂ
âhope you and her are so fucking happy together!!!!!âÂ
Fuck it all and fuck Peter. He just liked the attention until it came from somewhere else. You donât think you like him all that much anymore. You think youâre lying, too. Before you can give into the desire of hurting him just as bad, you calmly turn the phone off and stuff it in the back of a desk drawer to never be uncovered again.Â
You slowly sit in bed and tug the blankets over your head. And only then, do you allow yourself to sob.Â
Peter chewed on his bottom lip and waited an hour with constant phone checks before he realized a response was never coming. It really set in during the weekend but even further when he got no note or letter on monday. Not even when he left his backpack unattended for five minutes.Â
TUESDAY -he was able to see you and how you avoided his eyes. How you pretended you didnât see him send a small wave. How you had pulled back from him.Â
And if he hadnât hurt your feelings, or Xâs feelings, why would you do that?Â
You look up at a two fingered knock at the corner of your desk. âHi.â You blink and ignore the white noise buzzing in your ears at the sight of Peter standing in front of you. âHi, Peter.âÂ
âHow was your weekend?â Bitter. Terrible. Lonely.
âFine. Nothing exciting.â Besides you breaking my heart.Â
Watching his fingertips dance on the edge of the plastic, you feel everything in you brighten. âYou look sad.â Thereâs a burn in your stomach, heâs the reason for both the sting and the sadness.Â
âDo you need something? Or are you just doing a friendly check in?â Peter bites back the grin when you snap at him, heâs so, so, so right and it feels so, so, so good. âNeither. Iâm just confirming my suspicions.âÂ
âSuspicions?âÂ
âYeah. You passed.â Your eyebrows furrow, before you could try to question further Peter was giving half a wave, saying bye, and skipping a step to his aisle.Â
FRIDAY: 12:08
You stop breathing for a solid second before feeling your brain spark back to life. It could be anything, it could be from anyone, but you know thereâs only one person who wouldâve left a note on your desk.Â
Your fingers slightly shake when you unfold the graph paper, little squares bled through with black sharpie.Â
âX-
Am I right?
Hopefully,Â
- PeterâÂ
You canât breathe, you canât talk, you canât move and you definitely can fucking not look at him. No, no, no. You can feel his eyes on you, you know heâs watching for your reaction. Peter figured you out and had his own fun along the way.Â
You were the girl he liked. Oh, wow. Is this how special youâve made him feel? Something just for your eyes, from him. A secret you both shared between lines.Â
You spin and swear you can feel his gaze running over your back, heâs aching for the answer. You almost scream at a tap on your shoulder, a peek lets you know itâs the person youâre hiding from.Â
Another note, folded up just like the other one. Itâs pushed into your hand, Peter doesnât say a word, he just offers and leaves. Heâs not watching this time, heâs sitting and focused on the front, you feel air leak back into your lungs.Â
Full on panic shaking, youâre so happy heâs not watching.Â
Your name is addressed on the front, just like you do for him.Â
âI like you.Â
I think you not so secretly like me too.Â
We could talk more about it at dinner tonight. Will you let me take you out?
Circle yes or no.Â
- Peter.
PS. XOXOXO now youâre responsible for mine, too.âÂ

The Wrong Color
Summary: poly!jegulily x reader, Y/N and Lily wear the boys jerseys at the Gryffindor vs Slytherin game.
cw: suggestive
word count: 1.3k
The lovely Scottish morning light was always so peaceful when it glowed through the black lake and the Slytherin dorm room windows. The light fractured and bloomed along the green bed sheets you were tangled in. It would have been perfect, if only your boyfriend wasnât running around the room looking for all his quidditch gear.
Regulus always gets like this before games, but especially games against your rival house, the house that your other boyfriend and girlfriend are a part of; Gryffindor. You love the other half of your relationship, but man, could they be annoying. You liked the rivalry, it made things fun, especially since it was two against two, you and Regulus, and Lily and James.
Regulus was worked up last night, meaning you two didnât get much sleep, meaning you both woke up late and now he was rushing to get to breakfast before the match.Â
âYou know this is your fault right?â he explained to you. âIf you hadnât stayed the night-â
âMy fault?â you interrupted sounding amused. âIf Iâm remembering correctly, it was you begging âplease please, Iâll do anything-â
It was his turn to interrupt you, this time with a kiss. He broke away and smiled down at you. He looked godly in this light.
âYou'll be in the stands cheering for me today right?â he asked, the smile still lingering on his lips.
âOf course not! You know I can't play favorites,â you explained âPlus why would I? I hate you.â You said, joking of course.
He raised his brows and cocked his head to the side. âOh really? Was that hatred last night?â he asked before kissing you again, laying you back on the bed and climbing on top of you.Â
You really wish you could stay like this, but you giggled and pushed him off, swatting at his arm saying âYouâre already late! Go!â
He took your command and breezed out the door of his unshared dorm room, a perk of being a prefect.Â
Right, now it was your turn to get dressed, only you and Lily had been scheming. You were going to show up in Jamesâs spare Gryffindor jersey, and Lily in Regulusâs. You had always just worn your own house colors or the correlating boy's extra jerseys, but you and Lily wanted to see their reactions.Â
You pulled on the red and gold, pairing it with some jeans and converse, a very casual, very James look. You looked at yourself in the mirror, it felt so unnatural, but that was the fun of it.
You met Lily outside your common room before heading to the stands to get a good seat.Â
Seeing her in the green and black jersey was odd, but she was striking, as always. The green brought out the colors in her eyes, making her red hair stand out even more. She was gorgeous.
âYou look good in green.â you blushed as you told her.
She scoffed as she took you in. âYou look good in red,â she said. âCome on, we should get going before all the front row seats are taken,â she wrapped her arm around your shoulder, pulling you into her side and kissing your temple.Â
You two caught up with Marlene and Dorcas, both sporting their own house colors, Marlene in her own jersey, and looked at you and Lily in slight bewilderment.Â
âUh, I think you two grabbed the wrong tops when dressing this morning.â Marlene examined, raising an eyebrow at the pair of you.
You looked at Lily, then back at your friends. âHuh, guess we were rushing.â you said, smirking. Lily nudged you with her hip, but the four of you continued on walking to the pitch.
Once there, you had gone right up to your usual spot, Peter had dutifully saved you all seats. You took yours, front and center, and waited for Lily to return from the concessions stand with the butterbeer you asked for.Â
You turned and made small conversations with Peter about the previous quidditch matches and yesterday's boring potions lecture.Â
âOh, uh⊠by the way, whatâs with the uh,â Peter said pointing to your choice of jersey.
âJust wanted to be supportive, thatâs all,â you said with a fake tone of innocence.
He chuckled. âYes but, on today of all days? They might just knock each other off their brooms.âÂ
âOh donât worry, Pete,â you said, âLily is in Regulusâs.â
All of your friends knew about your relationship, and were happy for you all. They never judged or misunderstood anything, something that your entire group of friends was known for, being accepting and understanding of all types of love.Â
They did, however, love to see the games the four of you played with each other. You four were known to prank and tease and provoke each other, but it was always in good fun and always stemming from the house rivalry. Other than that, the four of you didnât play when it came to your relationship, you were wholly devout to each other, no matter what house you may belong to.Â
Lily came up the stands, promised butterbeer in hand, and sat herself right next to you. She had perfect timing, the boys were about to start playing.Â
James zoomed by on his broom, Regulus hot on his tail, warming up and having some fun teasing each other before the real game starts.
âGyffindor has this in the bag.â Lily announced to all of your friends.
âMmm, Iâm pretty sure Slytherin has the better record this year.â you replied and shot her a devious smile.
âRemind me, who won the cup last year?â she questioned, giving you the same deviousness. You replied by playfully rolling your eyes, hitting her knee with your own.
The high pitched whistle sounded, signaling the start of the game. It was an intense, brutal rush of back and forth. Both teams playing hard, fighting for the win and the glory that comes along with it. The game turned dirty and aggressive almost immediately.
The match was tied, coming down to the final moments when you watched both your boyfriends diving and spinning toward the ground before pulling up at the last minute. They were no doubt chasing after the tiny golden snitch.Â
You leaped to your feet, tracking them both the whole way. James was reaching out his hand, the snitch almost within grasp when Regulus suddenly slammed into his side, knocking James away, putting himself closer to the snitch instead. James didnât take this lightly, he zoomed back to Regulusâs side and the two shoved and shoved. You would have been more concerned, but this is exactly how each match ended, the two of them fighting for the golden ball.Â
The boys rerouted their course, heading straight over the section both you and Lily were sitting in. This must have been some sort of plan devised by Regulus, because this change made Jamesâs gaze slip, fall to both Lily wearing Slytherin green and you in Gryffendor red with big yellow block letters spelling out âPOTTERâ.
This slight break in attention, the hesitation, allowed Regulus to capture the snitch while his opponent was distracted.
You cheered and hugged Dorcas, feeling prideful for your houseâs big victory, Regulus taking a lap around the pitch. Lily cheered as well, not as much as you of course, not wanting to admit defeat, but still proud of her boy. You took her by the hand and pulled her along down to the field to meet your boys.
James met you first, flying down a bit disappointed, but obviously happy for Regulus. He spotted you and immediately hugged you. This sweet gesture was a guise, pulling you close to his body only to whisper âThis is your fault you know,â into your ear.
You giggled. âBelieve it or not, that is not the first time I have heard that sentence today.â you said, pulling away and looking up at him. He had that smirk, that look spread across his face, one that often came after he lost. Perhaps you wouldnât get much sleep tonight either.

Morning After Part 1
I feel my boyfriend kiss my cheek as I take a picture. âGood morning, Liam,â he says in his cute morning voice. âGood morning, Matthew,â I say with a smile before feeling him bite me softly on the cheek. "Owie, why did you do that?â I laughed playfully as he responded, âI told you to call me Matty while Iâm in this body; it makes me feel younger." You see, we both really are Liam and Matthew and we are definitely dating kinda, but we are most definitely not this young and cute. We are both married men who arenât married to each other but with wives'. One day after a dinner party, my wife Melissa wanted to do a magic trick with the family, and so Matthew and I volunteered, as did our sons Peter and Jackson. What we didnât know was that Melissa actually swapped our bodies for real. Everyone freaked out and didnât know what to do, but Melissa reassured us that it would only last a weekend. Unfortunately, the boys had to go to work in our bodes in order to keep face, and with the wifeâs gone, me and Matthew were left alone. We laughed and joked about how since we are in our sonâs body that maybe we should kiss since they are dating, and honestly, when he gave me a peck on the lips, I went back for seconds. I honestly donât know what happened. I just gave in to my teenage hormones and next thing I know Iâm riding his teenage cock with my son's ass. So at least for a weekend, me and MatthewâI mean, Mattyâwill be in these cute twink bodies.Â

First Kiss
Summary: Youâve never truly thought the perfect first kissed existed after a drunken one night stand had stolen every innocence you have ever had, but Remus is here to prove what a first kiss should really be like.
Remus Lupin x Fem!reader
Wc: 1143
Content Warnings: Modern au, fem!reader, swearing, drunk sex (in the past, only mentioned not described fully), kissing, pinning, friends to lovers, Sirius and James are supportive, Lily as best friend, Peter here but not here, low standards, if Iâve missed any please let me know!
a/n: Hello lovelyâs! This is Fic number three now and I canât say my writings getting better but the more you interact the more confidence I get! Iâm sorry itâs been a long time since my last Fic but lifeâs been hectic and Iâm a slow writer so thatâs on me. Either way I hope you enjoy this little Remus story today and have a wonderful weekend/week! Also not proof read so sorry for any mistakes!
When you were little you would imagine your first kiss as magical and romantic, something you would remember forever. Instead your innocence was tainted by a drunken night full of affectionless touches and meaningless words. Little you thought a prince would sweep you off your feet and steal the air from your lungs. And although the air was taken from you that night, it wasnât quite as enjoyable as you thought.
After that one night you stopped expecting the love you read in your books or the touches you saw in the movies. Every relationship you indulged in only reinforced the obnoxiously low standards you had set for yourself. Your friends, more specifically Lily, encouraged you to find better men, to set a better standard, but you refused. You didnât think you could find any better than you already have.
That was until you met Remus.
Him and his friends had opened a music store right next to your bookstore, and that helped boost both of your stores' activity. The boys invited you out to coffee to kinda get to know each other a bit more and you were immediately besotted with Remus. His calm nature, chocolate eyes, and even the scar on his upper lip that he got from a guy named Sniffilous, though you don't believe that that was his actual name. Remus was effortlessly kind and brilliant and knew when a joke had gone too far. He was unlike any guy youâve met.Â
You started hanging out with him more often than the rest of your friends and got extremely close. Close enough that people have begun to speculate that there was something more brewing between us. You desperately want there to be. Every time his hand grazes yours and when he whispers a joke in your ears so that only you can hear, you feel special. Like youâre worth something more than a quick fuck.
One Saturday when you were hanging out with Remus at your bookstore you asked him what his most embarrassing story was, just out of curiosity.Â
Remus was fiddling with a pen when he answered. âI believe my most embarrassing story was when I believed a story my mother once told me all the way until I was fourteen.â He says quietly, not trying to break the comfortable silence around us.Â
You lean forwards on your elbows that were situated on your desk. You were previously rifling through documents and files trying to find the book you were missing. âWhat was the story?â You ask, genuinely intrigued.
Remus hummed and rose to stand next to me and sit on my desk. âMy mother once believed that there was a magical world, full of wizards and witches, and they had a whole society. She made me believe that one day I would get accepted into a school for the young witches and wizards and that I would learn every spell in the book. I only stopped believing that when I thought a teacher was a disguised troll and I got sent home. I still cringe thinking about those ten years of my life.â When Remus finishes with the story he scrunches his perfectly adorable nose so cutely that you give a little giggle.Â
âNow you.â Remus gestures to me with his head.
âMe?â You ask confused. Â
âYeah, you,â He says again, âwhatâs your most embarrassing story?â He asks it in such an innocently mischievous way that you canât help but chuckle and think about it.Â
âI think my most embarrassing story would be my first kiss.â You blush as you answer, immediately regretting even mentioning it. However, you see the curiosity in his eyes and continue. âI was drunk and some guy who I was talking to that night brought me back to his apartment. I donât think I have to say much more than that.â You are hard core blushing now and look back at your files.Â
Remus however is looking your way with a furrowed brow and downturned lips. He hops off the desk and stands in front of you. âYou're telling me that your first kiss was a drunken one night stand? Thatâs it?â He asks. You nod hesitantly, wondering why he looks so distraught.
âOh baby,â He said softly and you felt your heart pick up its pace, his proximity suddenly making your knees weak. âThat does not count as a first kiss.â
You look up into his eyes that now burn with a small desire and start protesting. âBut a first kiss is when you have your kiss for the first time, and I did. That counts as my first kiss-â Your cut off by soft lips gently pushing against yours. Your eyes widen in shock before a steady hand cups your cheek and you melt into the kiss. It wasnât a quick in and out but it also wasnât a long, heavy makeout sesh. Just a soft kiss on the lips and Remus was pulling away.
âThat is a first kiss. Itâs loving and soft and it was one you were fully aware of.â Remus cups the back of your neck and pulls it forwards to rest our foreheads together. âYour first kiss isn;t your first kiss until you say it is.â Remus speaks so softly you almost couldnât hear him.
You smile slightly and lean in close again, your lips making contact with his once more. This time it goes on a little longer to the point where you grip his shoulders begging for more, noises escape your lips without your permission, and when youâre finally finished you pull away gasping for air.Â
Remus has a beautiful smile on his face as he looks at you. He bends his head down enough to whisper in your ear. âI really like kissing you.â You giggle and bury your face into his chest. In the distance you hear cheers and clapping and as you lift your face you see two of Remusâ close friends, James and Sirius, appearing from behind the bookcases. Your cheeks burn a deep red as you hide your face into Remusâ chest once again.Â
âHow long have you two been here?â Remus asks with a small sigh.
Sirius laughs and pats him on the back. âJust long enough to see the show Moons, and quite the show it was!â He teases. James elbows him in the ribs but his smile is a carbon copy of Siriusâ.
As the boys divulge into endless bickering and attempt to embarrass your poor Remus even more, you bury yourself fully into his arms. You wonder what this will mean for the future. For your relationship, and although in any other scenario you would have been nervous all you can feel is excitement.Â
You thought that this would be a very good first kiss to remember.

SLUT!
chapter three: you and me would be a big conversation
series masterlist
The next few weeks of your relationship involved a lot of sneaking around.
You didnât want your reputation to get any worse than it already was and being seen with a guy was definitely not going to do you any favors. To avoid the public scrutiny for at least a little while, you kept your dates to places far from campus or Peters favorite, his dorm room.
âIâm knocking on the door.â Ned said loudly from the other side of the door as he knocked repeatedly. Peter stopped kissing you and picked his head up to look at the door.
âWe can hear you, Ned.â He sighed as you slid out from under him to sit up on the bed.
âI am opening the door.â Ned announced and then proceeded to fumbled with his room key for the next few minutes as you and Peter sat in silence.
âWe know.â You said through a laugh. Ned finally got the door open but had both hands over his eyes and his room key in his mouth.
âIs everyone decent?â Ned asked.
âYes.â Peter groaned. âTake your hands away from your eyes.â
Ned slowly lowered his hands and sighed in relief when he saw that everyone was fully clothed. You waved at Ned and he smiled as if just realizing you were in the room.
âHello Y/n.â He said politely.
âHi Ned. How was Spanish?â You asked him.
âMuy bueno. Gracias. How was fornicating with my childhood best friend?â Ned asked casually.
âWhatâs fornicating?â You asked Peter as he burned bright red.
âIt means sex. And thatâs not what was happening.â Peter said and gave Ned a look that told him to stop.
âOh, really? Tell that to the hickie on your neck.â Ned snorted. Peter covered his forming hickie and looked at you sheepishly.
âSorry.â You laughed shyly. âIâm a biter.â
âSo Iâve heard.â Ned said as he plopped down at his desk. Your smile immediately dropped and Peter was quick to notice.
âI should go.â You faked a smile and hoped off Peters bed.
âWay to go, Ned.â Peter whispered harshly as you left the room. Peter followed you down the hallway and tugged you by the back of your shirt.
âWait up.â He said as you turned around. You smiled tightly and folded your arms before looking at him.
âWhatâs up?â
âIâm sorry about him. He didnât mean that maliciously. Heâs just a little dumb.â Peter explained.
âItâs okay. Everyone says it. Why canât he?â You shrugged it off but Peter could tell you were still upset. He pulled you in and hugged you as he pressed a few kisses to the side of your head.
âI wish we had more privacy. Not that it isnât exciting to make out until we heard the dulcent sounds of Ned fumbling for his room key.â Peter joked. You smiled as an idea came to you and pulled away from Peter a little to look at him.
âI want to take you somewhere tonight.â
âOh?â Peter raised his eyebrows in amusement.
âDo you have swim trunks?â
âI think so. Why?â
âMeet me at the old brick building at 7. Donât be late.â You booped his nose and started to walk away.
âWhat are we doing?â He called after you.
âYouâll see!â You called back.
At 6:51 that night, Peter stood outside the brick building in his swim trucks and a T shirt. He was freezing since it was mid November now but his anticipation kept him warm. You came around the building in an oversized shirt and smiled when you saw Peter.
âYouâre early.â You grinned and hugged him.
âSo are you.â
âI am. Weâre so alike.â
âWeâre nothing alike.â Peter laughed as he rubbed his hand up and down on your back.
âOh, right. Maybe thatâs why I like you so much.â You shrugged and pulled him inside the building. You took the elevator to the basement and led Peter by the hand to an indoor pool. Moonlight was spilling in through tiny windows all along the walls, making the pool light up a pretty shade of aquamarine.
âWoah!â Peter gasped. âThis school has a pool?â
âYeah. Didnât you see this on your tour?â You asked as you pulled off your t shirt.
âI never toured. They were the only other school to give me full ride so this is where I came.â
âRemind me to show you around. After we go for a swim.â You chuckled and jumped into the water. Peter pulled his shirt off but stood nervously at the edge of the pool.
âCome in! Itâs not cold.â You said as you emerged from the water. Peter took a deep breath and jumped in, immediately feeling the chill.
âThatâs really cold. You liar!â Peter said through chattering teeth.
âI know. I just wanted you in.â You giggled and wrapped your arms around his neck. You pulled him into a long kiss that warmed Peter right up.
âIgnore my blue lips, please.â He said once he pulled away.
âItâs okay. Youâll warm up soon. Especially if you keep close to me.â You smirked and wrapped your legs around his waist.
âI can do that.â He replied and wrapped his arms around you. You floated around the pool for a while and engaged in a race or two. After a while, Peter noticed a pensive look on your face and swam over to you.
âWhatâs on your mind?â He wondered.
âI have to admit something.â You said sheepishly.
âOh? Spill.â
âWhen we first started hanging out, I was worried you only liked me because you heard I was easy.â You admitted with a certain sadness in your eyes. Peter made a face that you were crazy which made you feel better.
âNo. I had no idea. I just thought you were nice. Thatâs why I liked you.â He told you.
âItâs been a really long time since someone has called me âniceâ.â You smiled and didnât realize how much it would mean to you to be called something other than a slut.
âYou are nice. The people on campus donât you. But I do.â Peter assured you.
âI know you do. It feels good to be known for me and not for some stupid rumors that people made up.â You told him. You stared at each for a moment of quiet understanding. Neither of you had felt truly seen by another person until meeting the other.
âI feel like Iâve waited my whole life for you.â You said quietly.
âI feel that way too.â Peter smiled softly and pulled you through the water to hold you.
âIâm glad weâre on the same page.â You said before pulling him into a kiss. Peter wrapped one arm around your waist and used his free hand to wrap your legs around him. He then slipped his hand behind your head to deepen the kiss. He didnât know where this confidence was coming but he was going with it.
âWait.â You said suddenly and pushed him back.
âSorry. Iâm moving too fast.â Peter apologized and put his hands behind his head to keep them off you.
âNo, itâs not that. I just think if we get caught making out in this pool weâre not supposed to be in then youâd probably lose your scholarship.â You laughed, making Peter relax.
âRight.â He smiled. âBecause Iâm poor and smart.â
âWe should probably go.â You said and pointed to the ladder to get out.
âOh. Yeah.â Peter agreed and tried to hide his disappointment that the night was over.
âTogether, though.â You added, drawing a smile out of Peter. You dried off with the towels in the locker room before throwing your clothes back on. Once you were dressed, you brought Peter back to your dorm room.
âMy roommate went home for the weekend.â You told him as you flipped the light switch on. Peter had never been in your room before so he took his time looking around at all the little things you used to decorate. He noticed your posters and pictures of your friends from high school taped up above your stuffed animals.
âWoah. Iâve never been in the girls dorm before.â Peter smiled as he picked up a plush dog off your bed.
âItâs not that exciting.â You chuckled and snatched the dog from him.
âI promise, I feel very excited right now.â He replied as he sat down on your bed. Girls rooms always smelled so much better than boys and he could sniff out the faint smell of peppermint in the air. You smirked at him and opened the mini fridge to take out a can of ginger ale. You poured it into two little cups and handed him one.
âClink, clink.â You said and hit your cup against his. In the lighting of your room, Peter was finally able to notice that you werenât wearing any makeup from the trip to the pool.
âYou look pretty with no makeup.â Peter said as it was his first time seeing you undone like this. You laughed as if that was ridiculous and covered your face a little with your hand, which Peter then moved. You looked at him and stopped trying to hide as you no longer felt you had to.
âSo do you.â You gently teased him as you leaned in. Peter put his cup down on a nearby dresser and used his recently freed hand to pull you into his lap. He slid his hands up and down your back as you tangled your fingers in his chlorine dampened curls. Something gave you the nerve to push him back into your bed and you both fell back without breaking the kiss. Peter kept his hands in a respectful placement on your hips like the gentleman he was. You pulled away only to catch your breath but ended up getting distracted by Peters pretty face. You traced your fingernail in circles on his cheek and felt him blush under your touch.
âI got pool water on your pillow.â Peter said in a soft voice. You smiled and leaned down to rub your nose against his.
âItâs okay. I think I can find it in my heart to forgive you.â
âI can wash them for you if you want so that you donât have to sleep on dirty sheets.â Peter offered, giving you an idea.
âI mean, if theyâre already dirty, we might as well put them to go use.â You said and leaned down to kiss him again. This kiss was slower and sent butterflies flying into your stomach. Peter picked up on what you were trying to say and felt excitement building up inside him in anticipation of your first time together. Youâd never gone further than making out and he was eager to take your relationship to the next level. You could feel Peter pushing your hips down into him and quickly pulled away.
âSorry.â You said at the same time. Peter could sense you were hesitant to continue so he propped himself up on his elbows to give you some space. You sat up in your elbows as well and gave him a sheepish smile.
âIâm sorry.â You repeated. âI know Iâm the one that started that but I think I changed my mind. I donât know if Iâm ready to go all the way yet. Iâm sorry if I lead you on.â
âYou have nothing to apologize for.â Peter assured you. âYou can change your mind anytime you want at any moment you need to. And I donât know if I was ready for it either. I just got excited.â
âNo, I was too. I just donât want us to move too fast if thatâs okay? I donât want to mess things up by rushing into anything because I really like you and I want us to last.â
âOf course thatâs okay. You can always tell me what pace you feel comfortable with. And I really like you too. We can take our time together, okay?â Peter smiled softly at you as he took your hand. You looked at your intertwined hands and realized this was the first time you felt completely safe around a boy.
âYou know, Peter, in a world of boys, you really are a gentleman.â You said through a tired laugh.
âCan you tell that to my aunt when you meet her? Because sheâs convinced Iâm a delinquent since I stopped wearing a belt.â
âIâll tell her.â You laughed and laid down on your bed. Peter laid beside you and rested his head on your heart. You immediately tangled your hands on his hair and played with it the way he liked.
âSheâll like you. I know she will. I gotta get my two girls together one day.â Peter said in a soft voice.
âI hope she likes me. You were primarily raised by her, right?â
âFor the last few years, yeah. Sheâs the best.â
âI bet she it.â You replied. âIt would explain why you turned out the way you did.â
âWhat do you mean?ââ Peter chuckled and looked up at you.
âI mean youâre so sensitive and caring of others around you. I mean, look at us. You met me on your first day here and decided to tutor me just because you saw a stranger was struggling. And I see the way you take care of Ned. Remember that night he was homesick so you made us all watch that weird movie with the sexy horse from when you guys were kids?â
âHey, Spirit is not a weird movie.â Peter playfully defended. âItâs an underrated classic with a phenomenal soundtrack.â
âOkay, whatever you say.â You chuckled. âAll Iâm saying is, she raised you right. In a world of boys, youâre a gentleman.â
âI try to be. You deserve a gentleman.â He said and picked his head up to stare at you. You smiled softly and brushed his hair off his forehead before taking his chin and brining his face closer to kiss him.
âThanks for being gentle with me.â You whispered.
Peter returned the smiled and kissed you again before resting his head back down on your chest. You played with his hair until he fell asleep and then turned off the lights.

How Old?!?!?!
Remember Folks, disregard any canon that contradicts this.
Timothy Wayne Drake disappeared when he was 16. He was taken captive in Eastern Europe at a WE event. A magical shield cut off all electronic communication, sight, and sound of the building for 6 minutes. According to every Super consulted, Timâs heartbeat vanished at that time, and never reappeared. No facial recognition ever showed him again. No magical spell could find him, or his remains. Eight years later he is presumed dead by most of those who knew him, though his family still searches frantically for their Baby Bird. It is only the fact that they knew how much he loved Gotham, that he would want the city protected, that they did not let their obsession with finding him take them over.Â
According to his file, Neal Caffery has been operating since he was 18. There are no records prior to that. By the numbers he is now 34, and had been working as a CI for the feds for 2 years. He has never admitted to anyone that his earliest memories are six years ago, though Peter, El, and Moz have all figured it out. But his abilities, muscle memory, and knowledge seem to support what's in his file. That must mean something, right?
It was not a White Collar case, not really. Though there were just enough white collar elements to justify assigning it to Agent Burke and his team, this really was an Organized Crime case. However it was leading to Gotham, and no one wanted to go to Gotham.Â
So Agent Burke, his two junior agents, and his CI were bundled into a SUV and told to report to Gotham PD to coordinate the case. Upon arriving at the main precinct and getting out of the car; Peter, Diana and Jones all get strange looks from the locals on the street, though they do not know it, it is clear they are outsiders.Â
However Neal gets out with a strange look on his face, âWhy does the air taste..â
âPink?â One the pedestrian answers, suspicion washing away.
âYesâ Neal exclaimed, then paused, âThatâs weird, right? I feel like thatâs weirdâ
The pedestrian gave a half shrug, âIvy and Scarecrow double booked downtown a few weeks ago. Made things super awkward for anyone not vaccinated against both, but the vaccines made the air taste pink for some reason. The news said that the unvaccinated shouldnât see effects any longer and for the vaccinated the effect would be gone in two more weeksâ
Then the pedestrian left and Neal, entirely unconsciously, murmured about wondering if Ivy and Harley were fighting. When Peter tried to get more information about Neal having been in Gotham as they walked into the Precinct, Neal made a joke to cover the fact that he has no idea when or where he got the vaccines/immunities to Poison Ivyâs pollen or Scarecrow's Fear Gas. Â
They manage to make it to the main bullpen without incident, by virtue of the fact anyone who actually looks up from what they were doing focuses on Peter, as lead agent. When they get to the Bullpen, someone notices Neal and the entire room goes dead silent. Commissioner Gordon comes charging out, eyes wild and clearly on the phone with someone (Oracle, who happened to see Neal/Tim on camera-it is important to note that the group who took Tim made it so that any facial recognition program that would run either face would skip the match between Tim and Neal, but a person looking through a camera is different) saying things like âHoly Shitâ and âYes I see him, tooâ.Â
The White Collar team, including Neal, is so confused as Commissioner Gordon ushers them to his office and closes the door (Oracle has her fathers office bugged with better cameras and wired for sound, also they do not know how much cover they have already broken for Tim-they do not want to make things worse instead of better).Â
Commissioner Gordon calls Neal Tim, and Neal/Tim seizes for a moment like he was hit with electricity and says, in a deadened tone, âThat name cannot be used as an Aliasâ then slumps like he is going to fall over. Peter and Jones manage to catch him and get him into a chair that Commissioner Gordon hurriedly pulls over. The confusion that the White Collar team is exhibiting, plus questions like âWhat was that?â and âWhat did you do to Neal?â and âWhat did you call him?â do convince commissioner Gordon that these, at least, were not the people that took Tim. It takes a few minutes for Tim/Neal to come to. A few careful call and response questions tells Commissioner Gordon that the man with Timâs face (and scars, from what he can see) does not remember anything. These same questions were also clearly making the White Collar team, particularly Peter, as protective as they were making Neal/Tim confused and more than a little anxious.
Then Dick Grayson burst into the room, looking like he might have run all the way from Bludhaven. He stopped dead at seeing Neal, whispered âBaby Bird?â then lunged to pull Neal into a tight hug. Neal may have had no memories of being Tim, but his muscle memory remembered Dickâs hugs. That he was safe while Dick was hugging him, Neal could not help but relax into the hold.Â
Dick start talking about getting Neal to Leslie both to make sure he's not hurting and to verify his identity (sounding apologetic but, no matter if Dick is sure this is Tim, they have to verify it), that âBâ is out of contact right now (on a JL mission off planet, the watchtower is preparing to extract him, but it will take a few hours-the JLD is also preparing in case they are needed) but should be back soon. He talks about how Alfred will be waiting outside for them, but âeveryone elseâ is waiting so they donât overwhelm him (read clustered, and pacing, on buildings around Leslieâs clinic). Â
Neal brings up, still wrapped in Dicks arms, that he might not be who they think he is. Dick agrees but also says that he isnât, it is a case of mistaken identity and it is clear that Neal is not trying to trick them. Dick then says if it is Mistaken identity, Dick will apologize for the forcible cuddling and be grateful that, even if they donât actually find him, he got a chance to hug his little brother one last time (Every single member of the White Collar Team, Neal very much included, is a little uncomfortable with this sentiment).Â
At Peterâs awkward insistence (these people clearly miss whoever they think Neal is, and he doesnât know if they would think about Nealâs criminal activities) the White collar team accompanies Neal, still clutched to Dickâs side, to a car waiting with Alfed right next to it, who is clearly having an emotional reaction to seeing Neal/Tim again. Over the course of the car ride to Leslieâs clinic, Dick asks questions about who Neal is now (and reacts weirdly well to the whole Conman/FBI CI thing). Towards the end, Jones hesitantly asks why Dick is trying to get to know Neal now, wouldnât it make more sense to wait until they were sure who Neal was.Â
Dick laughs and goes 1.) Even if Neal is not his long lost brother, several of his siblings are going to want to befriend him (if nothing else than being a world class master art forger would get Damianâs attention, and everyone else would 100% be encouraging the friendship to give Damian more non violent friends) and 2.) Baby Bird is notorious for trying to mold himself into who he thinks other people want him to be. Right now he does not know enough about Dick to try and tailor his answers, plus is likely convincing himself that this is a case of mistaken identity. Thus Dick is collecting information for when Baby Bird inevitably tries to fit himself into whatever weird mold he thinks their family will want him to fit. Â
Neal, still clutched to Dickâs side, splutters as the White Collar team cannot help but laugh at him. Also this somewhat convinces Peter that this might not be a case of mistaken identity after all. Â
They get to Leslieâs Clinic. She runs through all the tests (Genetic and comparing previous x-rays, signs of artificial aging-for cloning, signs of the specific type of molecules that means time or dimension travel, brain scans, the few hormone tests that can detect magic-you canât tell me that Bruce Wayne and/or Tim Drake, before he vanished, were not told at some point that there is no way to detect magic by scientific means and took it as a personal challenge). By every measure that she is able to test, Neal Caffrey is the missing Tim Drake. She is also able to tell that his memory loss was likely caused by significant and repeated electrocution reinforced by some kind of magic, but cannot tell what or if it is still active, though given Timâs reaction to his birth name (which happened twice more during the tests) and the fact that the Supers were never able to find his heartbeat,it is likely.Â
By this time, Batman has now been returned to the watchtower and is being told of Tims return.
Dick tells Neal outright that their entire familyâs love languages are stalking and poor boundaries (both maintaining and respecting). Dick also makes it clear that, while the Batfam is ecstatic that Neal/Tim is alive and want him in their lives, Neal is not required to attempt to get his memories back or have anything to do with them if he does not want (All of their therapists, the family could not go to just one, had worked specifically with them on how to deal with a Tim that has made a new life, how to accept that he is safe and happy but not with them-which is a realistic assumption after 8 years), but that likely Neal would be putting up with some limited stalking for the rest of his life (Look, the best we are going to get from the Batfamily is stalking from the shadows if Neal doesnât want to interact with them-Also Oracle has already hacked the FBI for all of Neals records and files, and is the middle of arranging for the White Collar office to be bugged with her personal cameras/microphones). Dick also asks that the White Collar team come back to the Manor and to at least let the Justice League Dark look Neal over to make sure that there is nothing that is going on that will hurt him.Â
Now, to be clear, Neal is more than happy to at least meet the rest of the Batfam. Yes, he has a good life now, people he loves and who love him. But that is a relatively new development and there are a lot of blanks in his past. I mean at this point Neal still thinks he is 34 (as opposed to 24), and only remembers the last six years. They have not even gone far enough into the explanations to realize that there is a 2 year gap between when Tim was taken and Neal's earliest memories. Also, while Neal does not quite have the same level of abandonment issues as Tim did, there is something about how visibly happy Dick is to see him that soothing something deep inside (Because he has six years worth of memories, and for most of them he did not have anyone who would have noticed if he had vanished).
They get back to manor just in time for Bruce to come charging into the foyer, still in the batman suit but with his cowl down. Bruce also looks like he might have ran from wherever he was. He had at least absorbed enough of what he was told about Neal to not call him Tim, and pulled Neal into a hug. This also means there is a brief interlude while the White Collar team gets the âBruce Wayne is Batman, weâre trusting you with thisâ revelation (And absolutely everyone is going to be making fun of Bruce âParanoiaâ Wayne being the person who accidentally let the secret slip).
By the time they reach the main sitting room, the rest of the family has made it back to the manor (Barbara, Jason, Cass, Steph, Damian, Duke) each waiting on their own chance to hug their lost member.  Neal blue screens a bit at Jason (who is both very pretty and very sarcastic, which is Neal's type). Through the discussions that follow there are at least two arguments between batfam members about who gets to have Neal to sit with them.
Neal decides that he will meet with someone from JLD to see about what magic might still be affecting him and regaining his lost memories. He and the White Collar team do decline staying at the manor and go back to the hotel rooms that the FBI rented for them (never realizing that Oracle upgraded them as soon as she realized who Neal was) as they still have a job to do. It is at this point that Neal starts whining to the others, much to their amusement (also to the amusement of Steph and Cass, who were hiding on the balcony-there is no way there will not be at least one bat/bird hiding in the shadows around Neal for a bit), about his new, hot brother Jason. Peter calls El, just so Neal can have his crisis with her instead of him (Never mind that being siblings is not as big a deal as Neal thinks it is).
Now Gotham, and its people, have a reputation at the FBI for being actually impossible to work with. Even regular citizens stonewall so effectively that most teams simply give up. They simply do not like outsiders, and Gothamites can tell if someone grew up in Gotham or not, even if the person in question does not realize it (there are unconscious ways of moving if you have lived in Gotham for a certain amount of time). This is what the White Collar team expects to go against, what they are bracing for, no matter who Neal might or might not have been. To their surprise this is not what they get. Yes, most people still peer suspiciously at Peter, Jones, and Diana at first, but even that settles down quickly (Some of it is Neal/Tim, being from Gotham, clearly trusting Peter and co gets them some good will; some is them not being sanctimonious about gotham; the rest is the batfam being vocal about liking these FBI agents-for Neal/Tim related reasons). They solve the case, which branched from White collar into one of the Mob Families (at least two of the traffickers got the choice to talk to the FBI team, or deal with The Red Hood-Red Hood plays it off as using the FBI to take a shot at that familyâs territory and being personally interested in Neal Caffrey).
Before they leave Gotham, Neal does meet up with a few members of the JLD who are able to find and remove the spells that prevent Neal/Tim from being found by the Supers and the Spell keeping him from being addressed as Tim. His missing memories were not fully caused by magic (There was a lot of damage caused by electricity-no one took that news well), but the magic was preventing some of his recall. With the spells off, it is inferred that some or all of Timâs memories may come back in time.Â
The White Collar team leaves Gotham with new contacts in their phones and also the bomb that Neal Caffery was a full decade younger than he thought he was (They do eventually figure out that Neal/Tim never actually committed the crimes in his file-not that the crimes were never committed but that Neal/Tim was basically went straight from where ever he was being held to being captured for âNeal Cafferyâsâ crimes). Peter later finds a much more complete medical record for Tim Wayne Drake in his home, with an ominous note to keep this file out of the FBI records, it is for personal reference only. They also leave with the decision to keep Nealâs identity a secret (As no one knows who the ones who took them are, or what the end goal is), telling only Hughes, El and Moz. By the time the WC crew reaches New York, the Bats already have bugs/cameras in the FBI building, Nealâs apartment, and Peterâs house. They have also put trackers in every single pair of Nealâs shoes. There is also a schedule for who gets to stalk/hang out with Neal when. Â
As far as the rest of the FBI was concerned, White Collar gets a lot of strange new contacts for cases. Also they seem to have made an impression on the Justice League, as they become the point of contact between the Justice League and the FBI, by request of the League. Occasionally hardened criminals walk into the FBI and ask to confess their crimes specifically to Agent Burke and his team. And Apparently their CI knows the Red Hood, somehow (in that the Red Hood sometimes showed up at their crime scene to flirt outrageously with the CI, the first few times the CI got really flustered but after that he started to flirt back).Â
Eventually Neal/Tim does begin to remember his past, oddly enough the trigger was a spleen in a jar that was left on his desk in the White Collar Office (Raâs Al Ghul wasâŠpleased that Tim was not dead and displeased with the Organization the abducted him and tried to fry Timâs brain).

Scars and Stars
Remus Lupin x reader
SUMMARY: You and your best friends help Remus with his insecurities, his scars, making them easier to love.
MARAUDERS MASTERLIST
a/n: you don't have a defined house, but it's kind of implied that you're in Gryffindor. Marauders friendship >>.
w/c: 1,2k
English is not my first language, sorry for any mistakes.
REMUS looked at himself in the small mirror in his dorm shared with his best friends, he thought he looked disgusting.
Disgusting, disgusting. Looking at him is disgusting. There are so many ugly, horrible scars that pollute his face. But he got used to it a little, never having had a face without his scars.
Somehow, he really doesn't know how, he found a girlfriend, who loves him and who he loves, in some way he doesn't understand. But he can't help but think he's a nuisance, that he's going to hurt her one day. After all, he is a monster, a dangerous monster.
He can even hurt his friends, his family. And those ugly scars all over his body are just proof of that.
And then he is taken from his numb form in front of the mirror, with a soft slam of the door, as James closes it.
"Moony? Are you okay?" James regretted it as soon as the words left his mouth, it's obvious that he's not okay.
"Uhum" Remus shakes his head, tired.
"Moons, do you want me to call [Nickname]?" James asks, worried, then Sirius and Peter enter the dorm and quickly notice the tension, falling silent.
"No" Remus didn't want to bother you, it would be ridiculous for you to stop anything, just for a person like him, a monster.
"Are you sure? I know she would love to come and she certainly doesn't mind" Peter tries again, knowing that Remus needed her. That doesn't mean Remus doesn't need the other Marauders, he does. But right now, he needs all of his best friends.
But Remus didn't want to accept help now.
"I'm sure" he said somewhat aggressively.
"Remus, you know you're beautiful, right?" Sirius spoke for the first time.
But Remus let out a disbelieving chuckle, as if Sirius were joking.
"It's true, moony" Peter smiled, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"It is, moony, you're hot, you know who else thinks that?" James smiled widely, putting his arm around his shoulders.
Remus shook his head, "no one" Sirius raised an eyebrow, standing behind him, who was sitting.
"You're kidding, right? All Hogwarts thinks you're hot, have you ever seen how they look at you?"
"I don't care about them" he only cares about what his friends think, but he cares so much about what you think, and even though you always show and say that you think he's beautiful, he can't believe that that's possible.
You'll probably end up leaving him, and he will not blame you, it will be his fault for sure.
"I'll call [Name], you know you need her too" Peter said, squeezing his shoulder, but waiting for him to consent. To which Remus just shakes his head slightly. So Peter went in search of you.
ââââ
âââ
YOU folded a blouse, placing it on your dresser, today is your tidying day. It seemed like you had already done so much, but the pile of clothes still waiting to be stored prove otherwise.
You pick up another blouse, starting to fold it, but your work is interrupted by someone knocking on your dorm door. You get up and open it, seeing Lily Evans standing in front of you.
"Lily, hey. How are you?" You smiled at her.
"Hey [Name]! I'm fine and you? Peter asked me to come here and get you, since he can't go up" Lily smiles back, she's such a cutie.
"I'm fine too. Do you know what he wants?"
"He didn't told me, but he seemed in a bit of a hurry."
"Ah, okay then, I'll go there" you smile and head out the door, leaving with Lily.
"Peter, hi" you hug him, âdid something happen?â
"Yes, it happened, Remus it's sad again" he whispered, hugging back.
"Get it, is he in your dorm?", as soon as Peter responds "aham" they both went in the direction of the marauders' dorm.
Peter opens the door and lets you in first. You head towards Remus, Sirius and James with Peter behind you.
âRem, hiâ you hug him, giving waves to the other boys, who wave back.
You break the hug and look at him carefully, Remus looks so tired. Then you move to his side, facing away from James, who stands behind you.
"Do you know what I see?" Remus doesn't answer, even though the answer is obvious in his head.
"a horrible monster that can kill anyone in this room because of a simple and stupid moon."
"A brave boy, who deals with his problems, instead of running away" you pass the turn to James.
"A boy who loves his friends more than anything and would do anything for them" James nudges Sirius to speak.
"A boy who is always there when anyone needs"
"A boy who takes on a friend's blame when he needs it, but also corrects him when necessary" Peter spoke last.
"And I think we can all agree that you are perfect in your own way, and that, those scars" touch his face, "just prove how good, brave, kind, important and all the other good adjectives, that you are" Remus eyes glistened with tears, "and if you want to know, they make you, our moony" all the remaining marauders smile, knowing what would come next.
"And everything for our moony" they speak in perfect tune.
Remus lets a tear fall, which makes everyone embrace in a loving and caring group hug.
They stayed like that for a moment, before Sirius had an idea and pulled out of the hug. Sirius then searches his bedside table, pulling out a quill and an inkwell.
"You know, you love the stars," Sirius begins, smiling cutely. "Then you should love your body" you all release Remus and he dips his quill in the inkwell and carefully draws a star on a particularly large scar on Remus' arm.
Remus looked ecstatic, eyes still bright with tears. Sirius hands the quill to James, who draws another star, more clumsy, on another scar, but on his shoulder. Afterwards, James hands it to you, who draws another one, in his hand. Finally, you hand it to Peter, who draws a perfect star on the scar on his collarbone.
Remus lets another tear fall, not taking his eyes off the scars with a small star drawn on them, they looked less ugly now. In fact, they didn't look bad at all. But Remus feels he needs more little stars.
Then, hesitantly, Remus points to the scar that runs across his nose "can you draw one here too? And.. a few more" it was strange to see Remus shy around you all, but it seemed normal at this moment and none of you cared.
"Of course" Peter draws the little star and then gives the quill to Sirius again, who draws another one and hands the feather to you who also draws one.
And so you spend the afternoon, drawing stars on Remus' scars and he really wonders what he did to deserve such friends.
At the end of the day, Remus became the star man, full of drawn stars. And Remus loved the stars, which made him love his scars.
His scars are full of stars and his stars are full of love.

Y'ALL I'LL URGENTLY NEED YOUR IMPUT RIGHT NOW
BECAUSE LIKE AM I READING THIS WRONG
So in this scene:
Peter is consistently and very pressingly trying to get Miles to hold MayDay, before having a heart to heart with him.
When suddenly his watch says "We got your location, Peter."
DID YOU INTERPRET THIS AS INTENTIONAL OR NOT?
Since my first viewing, I believed it was fully intended and that Peter had alerted them that he was with Miles. I always assumed Peter was ratting him out.
But so far two people have told me they see this is accidental. Which shocked me. Do you think it's intentional, or a complete accident?
Here's why I think it was completely intentional:
So of course we begin the scene with Peter being VERY insistent that Miles hold his baby. Like.. uncomfortably consistent. He's deadset on getting Miles to hold Mayday. Insisting that it'll make everything okay.
They end up in a small enclosed area.
So they're in this enclosed space, and now Miles chances of escape drop dramatically. Going down seriously is the only way he can leave - and he can only do that if both his hands are free.
Peter knows for a fact if Miles is holding MayDay - 1) he can't swing and 2) he would never kidnap her.
I always interperted Peter's insistence not as a weird fatherly thing, but a ploy to get Miles to stay in one place.
In a space like this, Miles can't wallcrawl with a baby in his hands, and there's no place to swing, besides - Miles would never take her from her father anyway.
Plus there's the Lyla thing. Let me go on.
Peter gets down beside him, putting a hand on Miles trying to get his eye contact. And then MayDay attaches herself to Miles' arm. Peter is really close here - like MayDay doesn't have to lean much to cling on to him.
By the time he says 'And she happened-' MayDay is already on him, Miles just hadn't noticed yet. Peter isn't holding her anymore.
In one shot, MayDay is on the other side of Peter, then suddenly she's on Miles' arm. I assumed this was Peter putting MayDay on Miles, are at least getting her close enough to cling to him.
To me it looks like he literally passed her from one arm to the next in order to get her close to Miles.
Now Miles hands are full. He can't go anywhere. Now all Peter has to do is laugh and joke until they can get to him. Peter even judges the way Miles holds her - I assumed this was him trying to coax him into really holding her, calming down and not focus on leaving.
The better Miles grip on her is, the less likely he is too take off.
Right after this Lyla announces herself - saying "We got your location, Peter."
Now, I always took this as confirmation that yes, he set up Miles.
Why else would Lyla speak out loud to him if he's hadn't spoken to her first. If Peter didn't KNOW he was being tracked, why would Lyla just announce it to him suddenly? Her natural protocol probably would've been to just tell Miguel.
So I always saw Lyla speaking out loud like this as the sign that Peter spoke to HER first, letting her know to track his location, and believing it was safe to respond out loud, Lyla replied back.
Instead of Lyla just talking suddenly and giving Peter away.
As soon as this happened, I immediately understood why he was SO insistent on Miles holding MayDay and holding her well, and calming down.
Because he was intentionally trying to corner/ground him in time for The Society to get to him.
How else would they even know that he was with Miles - and to track HIM and not Gwen - unless he directly told them 'I have Miles with me.' someway?
From Day 1 I saw this as intentional, but I've seen multiple people now who believe it was an accident.
What do you believe? Cause I don't think Lyla would just speak out loud unprompted in a situation like this. To me I always saw it as her responding to Peter, AFTER Peter ratted Miles out.
I mean, look at Miles' face. He LOOKS betrayed. He LOOKS HURT.
Peter says he didn't know, but Miles doesn't believe that. Neither do I.
He says "I didn't know, I promise." But I was like-
Yeah sure, you didn't know the watch you've had for months and the sophisticated ass AI on it can track your location, sure bro.
Sure, Lyla just figured out on her own that you were with Miles and then decided to rat you out. Sure. Her voice recognition picked up Miles being there and she still spoke out loud uh-huh. STFU.
You not making no sense bro CAP. STOP THE CAP!!!!
Like...... Seriously, how else would Lyla know to ping Peter's location, other than him telling her. It's just him and MILES!!!!!
I don't know. That how I always read the situation.
And Peter using his baby to manipulate and corner Miles like that - It DO NOT sit right with me. It don't matter of face I'm sick to MY STOMACHHHHHHH!!!
But maybe I'M the one bugging. If I'm reading this wrong but who knows bit if he deadass ratted him out.....guitar. guitar. Hobie, the guitar!!!!
But how do you read this scene, you think he did it on purpose or nah?
Cause Lyla announcing herself like that is mad random unless he spoke to her first. She could have found him and told Miguel, but I feel like she told Peter too because he actively requested he be tracked.
Hm. HMMMM.
Thoughts, ya'll? We think he did it or nah? Let's hear what the audience thinks fr fr

In James Potterâs life, there was only one girl.
The only girl he ever had eyes on.
Oh, how he loved to look at her smile or laugh with her friends. How he adored the way she would throw her head back when he told a really funny joke. How absolutely and utterly in love with her he was.
He sometimes looked at her as if she was the one who hung the stars and the moon herself. As if she was the ruler of an old kingdom and he was supposed to serve her night and day. She was the first person he thought about in the morning and the last one in his mind before going to sleep.
But she was also his best friendâs sister.
She was untouchable.
And James Potter was seriously fucked.
He remembered when he first thought about her in a non-friendly way. It was quite soon when she stopped being just a buddy he would hang out with and started being the girl.
It was shortly after the Christmas break in their first year. (Y/N) and Sirius were already on a train and he came in late. (Y/N) was wearing a black dress and that was the first time when James noticed she was actually a girl. Of course, the girls in Hogwarts were wearing skirts as the uniform required it but James never paid a mind to it. However on that very train at the beginning of January, he noticed that one of his mates was a beautiful girl.
He didnât know what to do with those feelings so he tried talking to his best friend about it.
A bad idea, right? Since his best friend was also a brother of the girl he was developing feelings for.
âSirius, we need to talkâ
âWhatâs up, mate?â Sirius was lying on his bed mindlessly playing with some spells he read about. Remus was in the common room trying to read a book and Peter was nowhere to be found.
âI think I have a crush on this girlâ confessed James. That caught Siriusâ attention as he smiled wickedly.
âReally? Who is she?â
âItâs (Y/N)â
â(Y/N)? As in my sister (Y/N)?â
âWell, yeahâ
James looked at his best friend expectantly. He did expect a piece of advice on what to do with those feelings or how to act on them. What he did not expect was the outburst.
Sirius was angry, furious even.
âJames, she is my sister, you canât have a crush on her!â Sirius stood from the bed and looked at James in shock âShe is my sister!â He repeated âShe is off limits for you. If you ever try to pursue her, it will ruin our friendship! Imagine what would happen if things didnât work out between you two. How am I supposed to pick sides? What would you expect me to do? Side with you? Because I couldnât do that! She is my family and I would have to pick her over you! Do you really want to ruin our friendship like that? Does it really mean that little to you?â
âSirius, calm downâ James panicked âItâs just a stupid crush, it will passâ
âIt better do, James, because weâre gonna have a big problemâ
For a few days, James avoided (Y/N) like a plague. He was only eleven years old and he really thought that by acting on his weird feelings he would completely ruin his friendship with Sirius. It didn't help that by saying "we're gonna have a big problem" James thought Sirius implied he would beat him up.
James would not only lose (Y/N) but also Sirius. So he tried to get over it.
*~*~*
But in their third year, he still had those feelings. He was still crushing on his best friendâs sister. And he was truly terrified.
He started to hate those butterflies that appeared whenever (Y/N) was in the same room, whenever she talked to him, laughed with him, or touched his shoulder.
It was so obvious that Sirius picked on it and started a very serious talk with his friends one night.
âGuys, gather up, we need to talk about something very importantâ Remus looked at James and raised his eyebrows as if James knew what it was all about. Potter only shrugged his shoulders. When all three boys gathered close to Siriusâ bed, Black started talking.
âYouâre probably wondering what is this all about. So let me explain. Birds told me that one of you has unconventional feelings for my sister. Look, I get it. (Y/N) is amazing. Sheâs smart, funny, kind, and sheâs got this incredible smile that can light up a room. Believe me, I know, I live with her. Guys, respect the boundaries. Falling in love with my sister can complicate our friendship and put my sister in a tough spot, and I donât want her to feel uncomfortable or pressured in any way. I want you all to know that I appreciate you guys. Weâve got each otherâs backs, weâre like a family. I want to trust you and I want to know that you wonât hurt my sister. Letâs keep the love we have for (Y/N) as sisterly as possible and keep our romantic interests directed somewhere else.â
âWhat?â Asked Peter when Sirius ended his little TED talk âWho has a crush on (Y/N)? Is it you Remus?â
âDoesnât matterâ said Sirius quickly âJust promise me, all of you, that you will never ever fall in love with my sisterâ
James stared at his best friend in disbelief. He felt betrayed, slapped in the face. What was he supposed to do other than agree to Siriusâ madness?
âWell, I can promise you that,â Remus said as the first one of the group.
âMe tooâ added Peter.
Sirius looked expectantly at James as the other two of their friends also looked his way. So as not to look suspicious, James shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly.
âYeah, sure, I have my eyes on a different girl, I think sheâll be the future Mrs Potterâ James lied. It was so easy to do so that he was surprised himself.
âOh, yeah? Who is she?â Sirius didnât believe him at all, he still remembered the conversation they had in their first year, and he still remembered the way James looked at his sister with lovey-dovey eyes.
âItâs⊠Lily Evans!â James himself was surprised when he heard what he had said. Lily Evans was one of (Y/N)âs friends, they were inseparable, always sitting together, laughing together, or whispering about some secrets during dinner. It was an obvious choice. Simple.
âMy, my, Jamesâ Sirius smirked âThen we have to ensure you go on a date with Evans soon!â
From that day forward James Potter pursued Lily Evans, even though he never liked her as more than a friend. But he wanted Sirius to stop being suspicious of him.
So he declared his love for the redhead girl the next morning to the whole school.
*~*~*
As years went by Jamesâ feelings for (Y/N) only grew stronger. Each encounter with Siriusâ sister became an exquisite torture, a stolen sip from a well of emotions. He observed her, like a creepy stalker.
In the deepest parts of him, James harbored an affection, silent and concealed, a love he knew was not his to claim. He was a prisoner of this affection, torn between loyalty to his best friend and the magnetic pull of his heart towards his best friendâs sister.
When during one party in their 6th year Marlene suggested a game of Spin the Bottle, James was excited. That was his way to steal a kiss from the girl of his dreams without Sirius growing suspicious of him. It was only a game after all, right?
But when Remus mentioned that he shared his first real kiss with (Y/N) Black, James saw green. He sulked in his seat sending daggers into his friendâs back. If looks could kill, Remus would be long dead by now. And when he got to be the first one to kiss her in the game, years later, Jamesâ angry fist hit the floor a little too much which made Mary look at him with a smirk.
As the game progressed James became more desperate so without his friends knowing he enchanted the bottle when (Y/N) spun it so it would definitely land on him.
He watched as her eyes went wide with the realisation of who she was supposed to kiss and James was scared for a minute that she would choose to tell the truth and drink instead of kissing him. But she didnât. And he couldnât be happier.
Her demeanor quickly changed and she smirked wickedly while saying âTwo out of three. Better get ready Peterâ
Sirius shouted something about this whole situation being disgusting but James paid no mind to him. He was definitely too drunk to care. Slowly he got up from the place where he sat on the floor and made his way to (Y/N). When he positioned himself before her, he looked deep into her eyes and, oh Merlin, how he loved those eyes. Those eyes held the power over him. He marveled at the way they sparkled like stars in a night sky. He loved the way her eyes crinkled at the corners when she laughed, how he could read her like an open book only by one look.
James put his hand on (Y/N)âs cheek and leaned into her. When his lips crushed on hers James could swear he saw fireworks. And when she kissed him back with just as much force he could only smile into the kiss. He pushed his tongue inside her mouth while she grasped his shirt trying to bring him closer. Oh, sweet Merlin, James could only dream about a moment like that. When (Y/N) bit his lower lip he couldnât help but moan.
James tried bringing her closer to him if that was even possible, but his drunk self had too much strength and they fell to the ground, (Y/N)âs body under his.
âThatâs enough, Prongs, itâs my sisterâ Siriusâ strong arms pulled James from (Y/N). Potter couldnât help himself and grimaced but luckily Sirius didnât see anything because he helped his sister get up. The only person who saw his face was Lily as she smiled at him knowingly.
*~*~*
That same night when the girls went to their dorm, Sirius started a conversation.
âHow is it, Prongs, that youâre supposedly in love with Evans but couldnât get enough of my sister while kissing her, hm? I thought you two were gonna have sex right in front of usâ
âPadfoot, please, stop it already. We talked about it in our third yearâ
âYeah, I remember, but I canât shake the feeling that you lied to meâ
âPadfootâŠâ
âHeâs not wrong, James,â said Peter getting ready for bed âYou two looked very⊠comfortableâ
âHorny, Wormtail, the word you were looking for is hornyâ added Sirius. âSee? Iâm not the only one seeing this!â
âYouâre all delusional. Iâm going to bedâ
So the next day during breakfast James shouted how much he loved Lily Evans even though it wasnât true. And Evans kinda looked disappointed.
*~*~*
When the summer break between their 6th and 7th year at Hogwarts came, Sirius and (Y/N) spent it at the Potters. And while James couldnât be more happy about it he was also angry that his best friend tried to be everywhere with them. Sirius wouldnât leave (Y/N) and James alone even for one minute.
So when Sirius felt sick, James tried to twist the situation to his advantage and asked (Y/N) if she wanted to stargaze with him.
âJamie, your father wants me to marry you,â she said unexpectedly and James felt shivers run down his spine. He would kill Fleamont Potter for his big mouth later.
âWhat?!â
âYeah, crazy, right? He thinks Iâm your mystery girlâ
Because you are and he knows it, thought James to himself.
âOh, and what did you tell him?â
âThat itâs definitely not me. That I know the girl you have a crush on and he said that weâll seeâ
âI have no idea why he said that, Iâm very sorryâ After what she said James thought that she wasnât interested in him in any way. He needed to protect his own heart. So he distanced himself.
âNo big deal, Potterâ
While James was sulking and drowning in his own unrequited feelings, (Y/N) suddenly spoke again.
âJamesâ
â(Y/N)â
âIâve been thinking about you and Lily for a whileâ
What?
âOh?â
âYeah. I think she doesnât deserve youâ
Thatâs interesting, thought James.
âHow so?â
âYou see, Jamie, youâve been trying to get the girl since we were thirteen years old and sheâs still not even slightly interested in going on a date with you. Sheâs always laughing at you, turning you down. I donât think thatâs very good for you. I get that youâre in love with her but maybe you should start thinking about yourself a little bit?â
A stupid, stupid heart that started to beat faster. A glimmer of hope appeared inside of James.
âWhat do you mean?â
âYou deserve the world, James Potter. You deserve a girl who will be madly in love with you. You deserve a girl who will love you unconditionally. You are a good guy. Sure, you have your faults. We all have them. But you should be loved the way you love other people - wholeheartedly. I donât think Lily is the right girl for you. I'm also not saying you should do whatever Iâm telling you right now. I just believe you should think about it a little bit and decide if itâs even worth it. Because you, James Potter, are definitely worth it and itâs her loss if she cannot see thatâ
If James Potter was confused before, imagine him in that moment. (Y/N) Black made no sense to him. She said that he should look for a girl that would give him all the love he deserved but she didnât see that she was the girl he already loved.
So James did what he always did when he was confused. He joked.
âWow, Black, do you have a crush on me or something?â
âYouâre also an idiotâ She slapped his shoulder and just like that they got back to where they started - to being just friends, which James hated by the way. "Iâm your friend, I just hate to see you struggling so much."
âYou are a good mate, (Y/N) Thank you for always looking out for meâ
Idiot, idiot, idiot.
He didnât mean to say it.
But what are you supposed to say to the girl you love when youâre not sure if she harbors the same feelings for you?
He gently took her hand In his and interceded their fingers. How he longed for that to mean more.
âAlwaysâ
*~*~*
After that conversation, when their 7th year began, James Potter promised himself that he would do absolutely everything in his power to convince (Y/N) Black that they were meant to be. So he stopped pursuing Lily Evans and after a long talk with her, when she advised him to just stop listening to Sirius and finally get the girl of his dreams, he began thinking about his master plan.
James Potter did everything a boy romantically interested in a girl would do, at least that's what he thought. He always sat next to her in classes, and he partnered up with her which made Sirius angry, he sat with her in the library and just watched as she was doing her homework, he walked her to her classes even when they had different ones and it meant he would be late to his.
So when the time came in October, when the Maraudersâ prank was planned to happen, James was excited. He was the one who told the Ravenclaw prefect to be in that specific corridor at that time, he even paid him to be there. So when he started to chase the group and Remus suggested scattering, James paid no mind to anybody else while he grabbed (Y/N)âs hand and dragged her to the broom closet nearby.
And in that broom closet, he was finally able to confess his feelings. When (Y/N) said she reciprocated his feeling he couldnât help himself.
But then the realisation came and James was mortified.
If he thought that the conversation with Sirius Black wasnât going to be a big problem, he must have been an idiot. He had the girl of his dreams but he was scared to death with the thought of losing his best friend. In all of his master plan, James Potter didnât think beyond the moment of saying âI love youâ in the broom closet. He wouldnât dare to dream about (Y/N) reciprocating his feelings.
So now he had a problem.
(Y/N) and James dated in secret for a month while James thought about how to break the news to his best friend. (Y/N) only laughed at his imaginary scenarios because she thought her brother wouldnât have that big of a problem.
She was right, Sirius Black grew up since they were all thirteen years old.
But James Potter was still scared.
âPadfoot,â said James looking in the direction of his best friend. Sirius was lying on the bed just like he was six years ago when they first talked about it. Remus was reading a book nearby while Peter was looking franticly for his Transfiguration essay. âI need to talk to youâ
âWhatâs up, Prongs? You have an idea for our next prank? Because I think (Y/N) mentioned something about invading Slytherin common room and painting it red and gold and I would love to do thatâ
âNo, but it does concern (Y/N)â
âI'm all ears tenâ
âRemember when we first talked about me having a crush on your sister when we were eleven?â
âIt was you?â Shouted Peter surprised âI literally thought it was Remus who fancied (Y/N)â
âShut up, Wormtail. James is going to say something important. I remember. Go on, mateâ Sirius tried not to smile. He knew already. (Y/N) told him but he patiently waited for his best friend to finally confess.
âAnd remember when you came up with that stupid rule when we were thirteen?â
âYeahâ
âAnd remember when I said I fancy Lily Evans then?â
âI think we all rememberâ
âI liedâ
âI knowâ
âIâm madly in love with your sister, Padfoot. And Iâm sorry, I really tried to get over her so as not to ruin our friendship. Merlin, I tried so hard but itâs impossible. I believe sheâs the love of my life, mate. I want to make her happy, I want to be the one she smiles at, I want to tell her all the jokes just to hear her laugh, I want to marry her one day. Thatâs why Iâm sorry, Padfoot. Because you are my best friend and I didnât listen to you, I went behind your back, and lied to you for a month. But I'm not sorry for loving your sister. I believe (Y/N) is the oneâ
There was silence between the four of them for a while.
James looked as if he was about to die, Peter looked at his best friend with wide eyes, Remus tried to cover up his laugh behind a book, and Sirius⊠Sirius was staring at his friend without showing any emotion.
âWhat time is it, Wormtail?â Asked the Black heir instead.
âUm, itâs almost midnight, why?â
âAnd what day is it?â
âNovember 29th?â
âMoony, my dear, pay upâ
âWhat?â James was surprised. He expected screaming, maybe a hex or two directed at him. But Sirius was completely calm when he grabbed a few galleons from Remus.
âYou see, Prongs, I already knew. You werenât very subtle over the years. I suspected something but you always insisted you loved Evans so I waited, patiently may I add. And finally, you broke down. I expected you would do so in our 7th year somewhere close to the end of November, Moony said thatâs impossible and opted for the end of our 7th year. Prongs, I just won a bet thanks to you.â
âYouâre not mad?â
âWell, you see, I would be mad if we were children. But we grew up since that time, mate. I feel weird knowing that youâre snogging my sister but as long as youâre both happy, itâs fine with me. Just donât hurt her cause then I would be obliged to hurt you too. You know, because Iâm the older brother and so onâ
âI donât intend on hurting her, Padfoot. I want to marry herâ
*~*~*
Just like James Potter said, he actually did marry (Y/N) Black two years later. And Sirius gave the most hilarious best manâs speech everyone has ever heard mentioning that he always knew these two would end up together (to which Remus screamed âNOT TRUEâ so loud that Peter fell from his chair).
A year later, they all attended Sirius and Remus' wedding.
And only a few days later (Y/N) found out she was pregnant. James couldn't have been happier, and Sirius shouted something about being the best godfather on the whole planet.
When they all decorated the nursery, James could only smile. With his best friends by his side, the love of his life sleeping soundly in their shared bedroom, and the baby soon to be born, he had everything he ever dreamed of.
And all was well.

"You're both so codependent," Nat said to the two of you one evening a few months later as you all sat gathered around in the common room after dinner. It was a rare occurrence where no one was away on a mission and everyone was Earth-side. The space was crowded, so naturally Bucky had offered you his lap, theoretically in order to open up some seating for everyone else. Aside from the two of you and Nat, there was Wanda and Vision, Steve and Sam, Clint, Thor, Tony and Pepper, Bruce, and Rhodey. Your perfectly imperfect found family. The only one who was missing was young Peter Parker, but it was a school night and Tony tried to make sure the kid had his priorities in order.
"No we're not," you and Bucky said in unison, which made everyone else either laugh or groan. You glanced up at him with a smile and then back to the others. "What can we say? We just really enjoy the benefits of our friendship."
Bucky let out a cough into his hand that sounded a lot like "Be cool, damn."
"How come you never volunteer to sit in my lap?" Steve asked with an exaggerated pout.
"Do you want me to get up, Star-Spangled Man?" you ribbed as you feigned moving out of Bucky's lap. "You can have him all to yourself." Bucky squeezed your waist in warning, holding you down against him. You knew that if you got up now, you'd be exposing everyone to the erection that had been rubbing against your backside all evening. Fortunately, Steve wasn't one to take such a joke very far.
"No, it's fine. I can tell when I've been replaced," he teased, though his smile didn't necessarily reach his eyes. You and Bucky weren't necessarily hiding the fact that you'd started having sex from everyone, but you sure as shit weren't shouting it from the rooftops. There would be far too many 'I told you so's or 'about damn time's for your liking, not to mention everyone asking 'what's the next step?,' so it was something you kept to yourselves. Besides, you both decided that the secret aspect of sneaking around made it so much fucking hotter.
"Good, you're all here," said Tony, breaking through the levity with a serious tone, "since we're all together for once, there's something we need to discuss."
All eyes turned to him. Usually, a serious Tony meant a global-threatening event, but things on the world-saving front had been fairly quiet recently, so you were all curious to see what he had to say.
"As you're no doubt well aware, because most of you aren't complete morons, there are more and more enhanced individuals coming out of the woodwork, and not all of them are identifying as friendlies. I know we've already got a great team here, but Fury thinks we could be better."
"Pretty strong opinion for a man who just sits around watching and talking," Clint offered from his position on the couch next to Nat where he was re-stringing one of his bows.
"Don't disagree, Barton," Tony continued, "but Fury's good graces and government approval are the reason we keep getting to do what we do. He wants us to expand."
"What, open up a West Coast Avengers second location?" Bruce asked with a laugh.
"He wants us to consider taking on some more members," Tony said. "Expand our capabilities. I was able to negotiate it down to one."
"Do we have a say in the matter, or has he already made the choice for us?" Natasha asked warily. Like you, the Avengers were the only real family she'd ever known, and like you, she was highly uncomfortable with the idea of allowing just anyone to join it.
"He's made some... suggestions," Tony said, holding up a stack of thick folders, "but the final decision is ours to make."
"Well, I say we stick with known quantities," Sam offered. "Like Tic-Tac. He proved himself in Berlin."
"Nah, Scott Lang's not a viable option," you interjected thoughtfully. "Maybe as a reserve or something, but not a full-blown member." At Sam's questioning look, you elaborated. "His daughter's young, and he doesn't have custody. He's not going to move across the country and leave her in San Francisco. Not for us, especially after being apart from her while he was in prison."
"Same's going to go for T'Challa," Nat agreed. "His priority is always going to be Wakanda, he won't give that up, nor should we expect him to."
"We could always invite my brother Loki to join us," said Thor with a grin. "He's quite skilled," he paused for a moment to think his statement through. "Though he is completely untrustworthy and could very well try to murder us all, so perhaps not. But what a humorous situation that would have made!" The eye rolls from around the room proved that, no, it would not have made a humorous situation at all.
"I wish Pietro were still here; he would be magnificent. A perfect addition," Wanda said wistfully, and you reached over to squeeze her hand. She'd done so much healing since her brother had died in the crossfire of the battle with Ultron, but you couldn't imagine the lingering pain losing a twin must keep her in. She gave you a grateful look as she returned your squeeze.
"Well, who else do we know that we'd actually trust enough to ask?" Rhodey posited. The ensuing silence spoke volumes.
"Natty, what about your sister?" you suggested. "You think Yelena would be interested? It wouldn't suck to have another trained Widow on the team. Plus, she makes me laugh, which, you know, absolutely crucial Avenger requirement."
Nat looked thoughtful. "I don't know if it would be her thing, but I could reach out; wouldn't hurt to ask. But I wouldn't get our hopes up; she's pretty dedicated to helping all the former Widows right now."
"Swell," said Tony with an eye roll, making a note on a piece of paper inside his folder. "That's one, maybe. But probably not."
"Well, what options did Fury send over?" Rhodey asked him.
Tony began handing out folders to everyone. Each page contained a brief bio of an enhanced individual Fury had vetted and thought might make a good addition to the team. He handed you a folder, then made to hand another to Bucky.
"I'll share with Pocket," he said.
"Of course you will," Tony said with a shake of his head. "You sharing your balls with her, too, Barnes?" You stuck your tongue out at him. "Nice, Pocket. The pinnacle of maturity," Tony muttered as he moved on toward Bruce.
"Not just your balls," you whispered into Bucky's ear, giving his cock a discreet squeeze. He did his best not to moan out loud at your touch.
"You are going to pay for that," he whispered, causing you to laugh.
"Why don't we take a look at these profiles?" Steve interjected with a cough, waving a folder in the air. Everyone began leafing through their packets. The room was silent, save for the shuffling of paper.
"Wait, here's someone we should definitely consider," Bucky said after a long moment, freezing everyone's attention. He held up a sheet of paper with a picture stapled to it.
You leaned over to get a better look and immediately felt an odd sensation deep inside as your eyes focused on the woman in question: Jade Carthage, code-named 'Vixen'. She had long black hair cascading down her back and vibrant emerald green eyes that, in your opinion, looked cold and calculating. She was absolutely stunning.
"Let's see..." you began reading out loud, "she's the only survivor of a secret Hydra super soldier facility. Looks like they gave her a relatively successful version of the serum, but she single-handedly destroyed their base before it could be replicated and defected to S.H.I.E.L.D. Damn; that's really impressive. Enhanced strength, regenerative capabilities, trained in various forms of martial arts..." While reading about her powers and skills, you couldn't help but feel a slight twinge of jealousy over your own lack of superhero abilities. It was a gentle though bitter reminder that, though you may be able to play in the Avengers' world, you'd never really be one of them.Â
"She seems..." Bucky said, almost reverently, letting the rest of his thought hang in the air. "We should definitely meet her." You weren't sure why, but the tone of his voice left your stomach feeling sour.
"Well, she certainly seems interesting," Tony said, perusing the profile, "but I'm not sure she'd be a good fit for the team; I'm not seeing anything unique she can bring us that we don't already have on tap, and I'd want to know why she was the base's sole survivor. What happened to the rest of the subjects? We'll have to look into her more closely before we consider inviting her."
"I think it would be a mistake not to at least meet her," Bucky said, his gaze still locked on Jade's picture. "You can't just walk out of a Hydra base, especially when they value you as an asset. She's got to be good at what she does."
The others seemed to agree with Bucky's assessment after reviewing Jade's sheet. The general consensus seemed to be in favor of inviting Jade in for a more in-depth interview and meet and greet before making further decisions. You weren't sure how you felt about it, but you kept your discomfort to yourself. After all, she could definitely be an asset to the team if they chose to make her an offer, and if she chose to accept, of course. Those were two big ifs that might amount to nothing. And really, when it came down to it, your opinion didn't matter. You weren't actually an Avenger. You were just... Avenger-adjacent. Shaking your head, you attempted to disperse the negative thought. It was a term you'd used to refer to yourself when you were feeling less than your friends, when you were being hard on yourself. You hadn't used it in a while, and you weren't about to let yourself spiral down the familiar path of self-loathing... at least, not just yet.

â§.* NEWSPAPER WRAPPED FLOWERS.
â summary : peter gifts you flowers.
â word count : 0,4k
â warnings : fluff, fem!reader, super cheesy stuff, dumb jokes, a kiss on the cheek, not proofread.
a/n : peter would be the sweetest bf ever!!
the new york nights were loud. so loud and noisy, yet the only thing you can hear at the moment is peter laughing. as if everything else just went silent.
"so like, what's the weirdest valentines gift you ever gotten?" he asked.
peter was explaining that he got a sock with pickles and hearts on it once for valentines day a few years ago.
first dates usually felt awkward. conversations seemed forced and dry, the air felt thick, and one wrong move can spill whatever drink you bought on your date's new white shirt.
but peter made it feel so, easy. maybe it's his cheesy friendly smile, or his chocolate-scented cologne that made you feel so comfortable with him, or maybe it's the fact that you've liked him since middle school.
"the weirdest valentines gift i've ever gotten?" you repeated the question, "yeah." he nodded.
"i've never really gotten a valentines gift, i mean does a note from my mom count?" you say, sipping your milkshake.
"you've never gotten a valentines gift before?" peter gasps, you can't tell if he's seriously shocked or not. "no?" â "not even flowers?" he asks. "no, is it really that big of a deal?" you question. "uh, yes!" he nodded.
"i just can't believe no one has given a pretty girl like you flowers." he says in disbelief.
"what's this?" you ask.
after you mentioned that you've never received flowers before, it has been peter's mission to gift you flowers.
"flowers." peter smiled awkwardly. "you told me no one has ever given you flowers before."
you take the flowers, "you didn't even take the price tag off."
"i wanted to emphasize the massive amount of money i'd spend for you. also, you didn't even thank me yet." peter stood.
"peter it's 25 dollars! that's way too much." you point out, the bouquet was beyond beautiful though. "i'd spend 25 dollars for you any day." he replies.
you smile at him, admiring the bouquet of flowers, your first ever bouquet of flowers. "why is there a bite on one of the leaves?" you question the cartoon-y bite.
"uh, i may or may not have eaten one of the leaves." he rocks back and fourth, hands in his pockets.
"why?"
"because i needed to know if it was real or not."
"so you ate it?"
"i took a little bite."
you stare at him, how can midtown sciences number two be this, unbelievable.
"did it taste real?"
"yeah, i mean it tasted like.. a leaf."
"you're unbelievable." you shook your head.
"i can already tell you're falling in love with me even more now." he makes that cheesy smile again.
"maybe." you give him a kiss on the cheek.

When friends help you get the girl
A Remus Lupin love story
Remus struggles to ask you out and James tries to help. When Remus doesn't want to tell you he's a werewolf Sirius takes the blame. And Peter makes sure you spend some extra time together.
Not really a request, but I got two Remus related asks and I took that as a hint. First time writing for Remus, so I hope I did it right. Furthermore, atm I'm not working through my request chronological bc I was in the mood for a few short things, before I start on the bigger ones. Anyways, I hope you likey and per usual happy readings!
Warning: none, a bit flirty at the end
I. James intervenes
Remus was staring, no, he was ogling you as you walked in front of him and James snickers at his love struck friend. âMate, you gotta stop staring and just talk to her.â Remus looks absolutely horrified at his friendâs advice. âYeah, that might work for you, but Iâm not doing that.â Remus argues and James chuckles. âSo whatâs your plan of action then? Stare at her⊠and hope for what?â Remus sighs. âIâm not staring⊠and nothing has to happen.â Remus drags his eyes away from you embarrassed at James' accusation. A mischievous smirk tugs on Jamesâ lips as Remusâ eyes land back on you when you laugh at something Marlene says. Without Remus catching on Jamesâ hand moves to his wand and he casts a little spell that causes a soft breeze to lift up your skirt, making you yelp and turn around.Â
You notice Remus, whoâs just smiling at you like a fool, and James whoâs pointing at Remus telling you heâs the culprit. You frown at Remus and only then Remus realises James is pointing at him. Remusâ face fills with panic and he takes a step towards you. âNo, no, it wasnât me.â James laughs and Remus gets even more flustered. You grab your wand and James realises itâs time for him to run, leaving you with Remus. âI know it wasnât you. I know you.â You reassure Remus as he watches James run around a corner, but he quickly looks back at you. âYou do?â Remus asks, surprised by your answer since the two of you havenât talked a lot. You smile at Remusâ surprised look. âYes. Some people you just know from the moment you meet them.â The beautiful and genuine smile on your lips makes Remus relax.Â
***
Remus returns to the common room and spots a grinning James sitting next to Peter and Sirius. âSo, whenâs the date, mate?â Remus chuckles at his friendâs question. âNo date. We just talked. She is still after you for what you did by the way.â Sirius and Peter arenât impressed and James just looks annoyed with Remus. âI took a risk blowing her skirt like that, but I took that risk because I thought you would take your chance and ask her out.â Remus gets flustered, because now everyoneâs staring at him. âGuys, Iâm not asking her out.â Sirius huffs. âLame.â Peter shakes his head in disappointment and James looks almost mad, but they decide to drop the subject.
II. Sirius takes the blame
You had your suspicions. The injuries and always after a full moon, and there was also the nickname Moony, but you were sure when you had overheard the four friends whisper about werewolves. However, when you asked subtle questions hoping Remus would tell you something he always changed the subject or denied it, lying to your face how nothing was going on.
You had been understanding up until now, but today youâd had enough. As soon as Lily told you that Remus was in the hospital wing again you marched over there. Not to say you looked angry, but people moved aside when they saw you approaching.
When you spot Remus laying in bed all bruised and cuts on his face you calm down a little, not wanting to yell at him since heâs hurt, so you decide to play it smart. Unaware of you approaching, Remus laughs at something Sirius is joking about. âHi.â You announce yourself with a sweet voice and Remus looks up startled to see you were here again for him. You had visited him every time he had ended up there and every time he had to come up with a lame excuse. She must think Iâm the clumsiest guy alive. Ugh, Iâve got to come up with a better excuse. Something tough and manly. Remus smiles. âHi.â You take a seat on his bed and grab his hand. âTripped and fell down the stairs again?â You ask with a concerned voice and Sirius struggles to hide a chuckle, making your eyes dart to him for a second, before focussing on Remus again. Remus swallows and scans the room searching for a good excuse, when his eyes land on Sirius. âI got in a fight with Sirius.â He suddenly blurs and Sirius looks absolutely horrified at the accusation.Â
You tilt your head and raise an eyebrow. âYou got in a fight⊠with Sirius?â Remus nods, thinking his answer has you thinking heâs a strong tough guy, but you're not impressed by his lying nor his lame excuse. âSo Sirius beat you up? But now your friends again?â Your eyes move between both Gryffindors and both nod hesitantly. Your eyes widen at their act and amused you cross your arms. âWhy?â Remus shakes his head at your question. âWhat do you mean why?â You narrow your eyes at Remus. âWhy did you two idiots fight?â You clarify and Remus frowns as he tries to come up with an answer. Worst liar ever. You roll your eyes. âSirius got drunk.â Remus suddenly yells, happy he found an explanation. You frown and look over at a shocked Sirius, who then turns to you staring for a few seconds before picking up on the act. âYeah. Sooo drunk. And then I punched him hard. And threw him off the stairs.â A nervous chuckle leaves Sirius and you sigh.
âRemus! Stop lying!â You yell suddenly and Sirius takes a step back in surprise. Remusâ smile falls as he realises he was fooling himself thinking you would fall for the stupid lie. âFine you figured it out.â Remus admits and you sigh relieved that heâs done lying. âI have been keeping a secret⊠Iâm... an animagus.â Your eyes turn stern and sigh annoyed with him. âNo Remus, youâre a werewolf.â You state and look to meet his eyes, but he avoids your gaze, feeling ashamed of what he is and also because he was caught in a lie. You shake your head with sad eyes. âWhy would you keep something so big from me? You know me, I would never judge you for something like that.â Sirius slowly and quietly moves back, giving the two of you space.
Remus sighs defeated and he knows he has to admit everything, you deserve the truth. âI know we would still be friends, but I donât want to be just your friend. I wanted to be the perfect guy⊠for you.â He still doesn't dare meet your eyes, but you continue to watch him. âRemus.â You whisper and smile, leaning a bit closer. âYou are perfect. And not despite being a werewolf, but because you are one.â Your statement makes him meet your eyes, confused about what youâre trying to say. âYour compassion, your strength, your loyalty, your gentleness towards everyone and everything is because of who you are as a whole and what you live through. I think every scar makes you look even more pure and perfect.â
Thereâs a silence as Remus processes your words, but you mistake this silence for rejection. âIâm sorry if I made you feel like you werenât enough, when you are more than I can wish for.â At those words Remus closes the last bit of space between you two and hesitantly he opens his mouth. âNo, no. I was being a coward, youâve been nothing but good to me and you make me so happy. Please. I shouldâve been honest with you. I just- I-.â Feeling encouraged by his words, you reach for his shaky hands. âKiss me, Remus.â You whisper and his heart stops beating for a few seconds, before he nods making you smile as he nervously moves so his nose gently brushes yours, before your lips meet for a tender kiss.
III. Peter has a plan
At the Hufflepuff party certain Gryffindors are up to no good. âIngenious!â James whispers excited with Peterâs plan. âThis will definitely work.â Sirius adds, making you and Remus frown as you approach the trio. âWhat are you up to?â You ask, making them jump and turn around with guilty faces. âUp to?â Sirius asks immediately followed by James saying âNothing.â to which Remus narrows his eyes at Peter who smiles âGood.â. You roll your eyes and look at Remus. âLetâs get a drink.â The three guilty guys give the two of you an awkward thumbs up as you walk away chuckling. âYour friends are idiots.â You joke and Remus raises his brows. âTell me about it.â
***
âSpin the bottle!â Someone yells and even though you hadnât seen Peter, James or Sirius since you arrived they suddenly appeared out of nowhere and forced you both to participate in the silly game. â(y/n) begins.â Peter urges, pointing at the bottle in front of you. Youâre hesitant because you really arenât in the mood to kiss anyone that isnât your boyfriend, but you give in to peer pressure anyway and spin the bottle. Youâre overjoyed when it lands on Remus and you instantly shuffle a little closer to your flustered boyfriend. You loved how in public he would still get nervous around you and you bite your lip adoring his sweet smile as you go stand on your tiptoes.
However, your sweet moment is ruined when Peter and Sirius push you. âThat way, both of you. No need to do that business when youâre in public.â You notice James holding a door open and signalling for you to get in the room. âI thought we were playing spin the bottle.â Remus argues confused as his friends guide the both of you to the room. âWeâre playing the extended version.â Sirius explains. âYes, 70 minutes in heaven.â Peter adds and you frown at the number. âItâs 7 minutes.â You correct and Peter snorts. âNo, 70 is better, no need to rush things. Itâs your first time, so take your time.â Your mouth drops, but youâre already in the room and with a grin James closes the door and locks it. Stunned, you turn on your heels to face your boyfriend whoâs nervously biting his thumb. âI mightâve told them that we hadnât gotten around to⊠uhm, things.â
You raise your brows and smile. âYou told⊠Sirius, James and Peter that we havenât had sex yet and you expected them to be normal about it.â Remus chuckles nervously. âTheir stupid is affecting me.â You laugh at his innocent face and he takes a step towards you, cupping your cheek. âIâm so sorry you have to put up with them.â You meet his lips, kissing him tenderly. âYou are worth all the trouble they cause.â Your forgivingness is met with a sweet kiss. âI love you.â Remus whispers and you happily wrap your arms around his neck. âI love you too.â His hands move to your hips pulling you closer, brushing his lips over yours again. âWe are stuck here for 70 minutesâŠâ You whisper, lips barely removed from his. âIâm sure we can break the spell.â Remus says, eyes moving towards the door, thinking of possible spells. âYeah, the stupid is definitely rubbing off on you.â You roll your eyes and it takes Remus only a few seconds to catch on.Â
âDid I just accidently reject my girlfriend?â He asks with a slight panic in his voice and you give him an obvious look. âYou better make this up to me.â You tease and Remus grins. âDonât mind if I do.â In an instant his lips are back on yours, hands exploring every curve of your body.

Peter wonders if he should put on his mask.Â
Heâs not really sure what the protocol is for non-mutant criminal activity that makes its way into his daily life. But heâd only been trying to lock up the lab for the night, and there you are, spray painting all over the glass panes dividing the workspaces.Â
âHey!â He decides to forgo the mask when you direct your can scary close to a container of samples. âDonât do that, youâll ruin them.âÂ
You turn slowly, tense all over. Itâs a look Peterâs not unfamiliar with; fight and flight are warring in your nervous system. Youâve been caught.Â
âNo oneâs still supposed to be here,â you say, voice muffled slightly by the painterâs mask covering your nose and mouth.Â
A laugh bubbles out of him. âOh, my bad. Sorryâactually, since Iâm clearly the one breaking the rules, Iâll just go.âÂ
You remain frozen in place, seemingly waiting to see if heâs actually joking or not. Peterâs not sure what to do. He canât justâŠlet you continue to destroy the lab, but calling the cops has never been his MO. He crosses his arms and leans back against a table, doing his best to look in control.Â
âWhat are you even doing?â he asks.Â
âItâsâŠâ You look around you as if youâd forgotten, to the glass now dripping gorily with red paint. âItâs about animal cruelty. Itâs a protest. Do you have any idea,â you say, your voice picking up conviction as you speak, âhow many animals die in these labs every day?âÂ
Peter blinks. âNot really.â It feels shitty to say, but itâs not like heâs around for every class and project that happens here every day; something like that would be impossible to keep track of.Â
Your eyes flash. âToo many.â
âSo, what?â He looks around, at the red dribbling down the glass panesâblood, thatâs what it isâand your paint-spritzed overalls. âYou make some maintenance worker have to clean this up tomorrow morning, and then the science department will decide to stop?âÂ
Your eyebrows bunch. You hadnât thought of that. âI just want to bring attention to it,â you say. âIâll come back and clean up if I need to, but I justâI think itâs important that people see it. That they canât just keep ignoring it.âÂ
Peter frowns, bending to pick up one of the paint canisters stacked neatly by a backpack. He gives it a little shake, and this oneâs still full, the pile it came from larger than the matching one of used-up cans by your feet. Your eyes track his movements, too smart to try and take it from him but attentive nonetheless. Youâre watching him with this flaming intensity. Thereâs something quietly passionate about you, like youâre burning with an energy that would be almost frightening if it didnât seem so heartfelt.Â
âYou realize thereâs cameras all over this place, right?â he asks. âYou could get kicked out of school. This is vandalism.âÂ
You donât flinch. âItâs uncommissioned public art.âÂ
âYou think theyâll see it that way?âÂ
You sigh heavily, and Peter wishes he could see what was going on behind that mask so heâd know what you were thinking. Thankfully for him, your eyes are expressive enough. They narrow as you cross your arms, jutting out a hip.Â
âSo what, are you going to go and tell someone?âÂ
Peter sizes you up. He can relate to feeling like you need to work outside of the system to get something done. To being sick of going to the proper authorities after being told too many times that while they really do care, they wonât do anything about it.
âHow about this,â he says. âYou let me stay here and make sure you donât damage any of the equipment, and I wonât rat you out.â He might even scrub the camera footage once you go. But heâs still figuring you out, so he doesnât want to make promises.Â
âDeal,â you say immediately. If youâre surprised at his bargain, you donât show it, only shaking the paint canister in your hand and starting to spray another layer of paint onto the glass. Your brows pinch slightly as you work, evidence of an assiduous concentration Peter is familiar with.Â
He makes himself comfy in a rolling chair, sitting back to watch you work. âWe actually do some really important stuff here, you know.âÂ
âIâm sure you do,â you say without pausing. âItâs not like I blame everyone you personally. I get that the research helps people, but, I mean, at what cost?âÂ
Peter shrugs. Itâs a good point. âTrue. Itâs a lot worse for animals in the big labs. Weâre small-scale because weâre funded by the school, and weâre also responsible for reporting to the higher-ups.âÂ
âI know.â Your eyes flit to him, less wary than before. âBut I donât have access to one of the big labs. Change has to start somewhere, right?âÂ
You can certainly agree on that.Â
