I love fandoms, especially witnessing what fans take away from source material and how fans interpret it based on their experiences. Not to mention the stark difference of interaction between new fans, casual fans, experienced fans, and long-term fans.

I say this because the SVSSS fandom has continuously fascinated me in insisting in discussions that there are parallels between Shen Jiu and Luo Binghe (tell don't show), but in their fanworks, I just see parallels between Luo Binghe and Yue Qingyuan (show don't tell).

And it's not even (fully) a case where they're blending character personalities because they want what the other dynamic has, it's just how the characters are based on canon in two different timelines.

All of this to say, perhaps original draft PIDW (NOT original!PIDW nor pre!SY PIDW which are completely different) was supposed to revolve around the dynamic between SJ and YQY vs SJ and LBH. Perhaps YQY was to be the last hour mastermind, the true foil to LBH.

And fandom is just circling this idea without realising it because, once again, the unreliable narrator that is SY has already convinced this fandom that any version of SJ has to be a/the villain, regardless if it's through his own actions or baseless rumours.

Warning, run-on sentence ahead.

I don't know, mans, but it's gotta mean something that LBH and YQY have such similar life beats of being orphaned and having a tough life but remaining kind/compassionate because they had someone to live for until they didn't which left them empty until they found (or refound in YQY's case) one (1) man to obsess over in an uncomfortably intrusive way with no regards for his feelings and rejections, eventually reaching a position as the most powerful being in existence with a huge caveat that their sword is 83% of that power and is slowly killing them which did nothing to soften said man of their obsession's into showing them kindness leading to the ultimate confrontation between the two in which only one could survive and keep their obsession, not that it mattered because neither of them got to experience his feelings reciprocated, except in another timeline where the same things are happening until their obsession suddenly stops rejecting their (still intrusive) advances even if he is acting a bit silly, but hey take advantage while you can and take advantage they did because now they have that reciprocated feeling (except one still "won" as he gets to keep him for himself) and be thankful that all it took was, in their perspective, a near death fever that drastically changed his personality and most likely left him crippled in some other way, preventing their obsession from not NOT needing them anymore, all-in-all fulfilling their desire to be relied upon again, hooray! 😋😁✌🏽

In all seriousness, at the end of the day people are going to draw connections between characters that fit whatever narrative they understood from the story. SVSSS fandom just seems to be trying to convince others of one narrative while believing on a deeper level of another narrative. It's amusing and makes following the fandom fun.

You know, their routes never really talk too much about their fates and how it effects them mentally. Or how the MC feels about it, and dealing with the fear and angst of it with the slight exception of William's route

*eyes widen*

... I think I know what the sequels are gonna be about

#I am scared both because it will be angsty and because they might not do this and mess up the sequels #from what I can tell Ikemen sequels can be pretty hard to do right #partly because the playerbase has over a year to imagine their own post-route and get attached to that #and because added onto an already finished story can be difficult without potentially accidentally undoing the efforts of the characters #I haven't read a lot of ikemen sequels so I could be wrong #but Ikevil doesn’t have this problem so much because it feels like there are some loose threads left with their relationship and character #not enough that it leaves you unsatisfied but enough that you could definitely expand upon it #I guess the tricky thing then would be expanding upon it in a way that people like #but for me I noticed some of the routes don't feel like one full finished story in terms of their relationship #it feels like the beginning of something #specifically I get that feeling for Liam's and Harrison's route #like the story ends with them getting together because we spent the whole story getting to know each other and learning their backstory #but it still feels like there's stuff to untangle and figure out in a relationship with them #I just hope that some of the sequels will be more slow paced #and whatever Crown mission going on is only meant to enhance the character journey like in Elbert's route #instead of being the main source of drama #but it could depend with the character and what type of story a sequel for them would be best for #like William's sequel being more action-packed and stakes while Liam's is more soft #I feel like that would fit them #thank you for coming to my ted talk #...in the tags #ikevil #ikemen villains #ikemen series

Okay but somehow the champions or extremely trusted followers get to raise the little god babies.

First off that's SO many kids in Vox Machina. My initial thought was the matron being raised by Vax like Purvan helped raise Emirah.

But then I thought about Pike and her connection to the Everlight (and allegedly they might be distantly related 👀) so I think the Everlight would go to Pike.

THEN I thought about Vex's connection to the Dawn Father. And sure there are probably people more qualified, but Vex does have his blessing. And the Dawn Father thinks about Aiden then. His softness, his kindness, and made the decision that if he could be raised in close proximity to his siblings, he would.

Second, I think the Stormlord would go to Yasha (and Beau. They wanted to adopt anyway) because of her devotion and her celestial blood.

And in the same vein as the Dawn Father and Aiden, the Wild Mother would go to Caduceus. He and his family had been so good to her. And she'd be raised so close to at least one of her siblings.

flowey and chara's relationship is always so interesting to me. when flowey absorbs everyone's souls and gains control over the timeline, he just wants to bring it all back to zero. back to when chara first fell. but he's already changed so much by that point - his and asriel's personalities and attitudes are almost complete opposites. would chara even still like him, if they met him as he was now? what if asriel's qualities that flowey buried and got rid of were what drew chara to him in the first place? what would he do if he realised that the person he is now, which was molded largely due to his past failures and regrets, is not the kind of person that chara would be fond of? what then?
