I could write a whole essay about Eastern Promises that movie resonates with me so much, especially Kirill. This movie should be dissected and studied under a microscope. It's so good. commentary on Russian Mafia and all but Kirill being secretly gay playing a role in the events of this movie without the movie having to outright spell it out for you that he's gay is MWAH CHEF KISS

You get to see tho, that he has feelings for Nikolai, and Nikolai is VERY aware of those feelings and sadly takes advantage of them to gain leverage against the mob boss who is Kirill's dad.

But it doesn't mean Nikolai doesn't genuinely care about Kirill cuz he intervenes whenever Kirill's dad abuses him and he does really want to protect him.

It hurts that he promised Kirill a life where they both rule together as mob bosses, side by side, when you know that's probably not Nikolai's real intention. And I wish this idea had the chance to grow and become something in Eastern Promises 2 😭

Not to mention there was a part of this movie that really did something to my brain and always makes me tear up because how much it speaks to me personally and it's when one of the kids tells Kirill why he's always fighting with his dad, and Kirill responds 'its not a fight if one if you doesn't fight back' IT FUCKING BROKE ME

This movie is just so special to me and I love it so much 😭😭😭

i think the thing a lot of papyrus takes get wrong is that they forget that, among other things, papyrus is funny. in my experience writing papyrus, i often find the most funny line is the most in-character one. an unfunny papyrus doesn’t ever feel like an accurate papyrus to me. it’s more than part of the game, it’s part of his character. and disregarding that is what messes up a lot of otherwise good impressions of him.

(which like honestly a lot of the rhetoric is dismissive of the fact that persistent goodness in the face of an existence of disparagement takes great strength and that at the end of the day aziraphale has always been able to stand up in his own way)

Have you heard of the show "Undercover Boss"? Where the CEOs of companies disguise themselves as entry level newbies to see what goes on under their noses?

I know the show itself is spiced up for TV drama, but I can definitely imagine this premise in a DPxDC scenario.

I can see stepdad!Nanami just being so sick and tired of life after decades of eat, sleep, work, repeat. he has nothing to come home to, so he forces himself back out into the dating field. he meets your mother, and she takes advantage of him, but he doesn’t know because he’s been out of the dating field for so long, he just thinks that's how it’s supposed to be. 

stepdad!Nanami who meets you after a handful of months and he hates himself for feeling such attraction to you. he knows he shouldn’t—you're the daughter of the women he’s dating—but he just can’t help himself. you’re so different from your mother, albeit you have her crazy spirit, you genuinely care for him. you ask about his health, interests, hobbies, and work. nevertheless, that fact that you’re absolutely stunning. he looks forward to the talks you two have when you come down from college. it feels so good to have meaningful conversations with someone who cares. 

stepdad!Nanami who is a bit naive, so he doesn’t realize your sexual antics at first. he doesn’t think anything of it when you leave the bathroom door open while you shower, he just shuts it for you, trying to respect your privacy. nor does he think anything when you wear the shortest shorts and the tiniest tops. he pops a boner for sure but automatically feels like the worst man on planet Earth. he tries to stop his eyes from wandering but some days—but being so sexually frustrated, he can’t help himself. poor old stepdad!Nanami who you sent a video masturbating, and he thinks you meant to send it to another, so he doesn’t open it. what he doesn’t know is that in said video you're moaning and crying about how much you need your daddy Kento.

he will never ever ever admit it out loud but sometimes neil feels a sort-of sadness/regret/nostalgia about who he could've been if he'd grown up in the ravens/in his father's business. when he disregards his abuse, and the way his parents treated him, he dreams about it a lot. he blames his mother sometimes because yes, sure, he would be in a dangerous business, but it was secure insofar as his father was trusted and reputable. mary caused so much added fear and paranoia and danger for neil by running. it was his father's business, one he was very good at. it was the purpose laid out for nathaniel from birth.

if neil had always been his fathers apprentice, if he’d been perfect court from the start, how much better of a player would he be, having been a raven? what kind of a person would he be? would he have turned into someone like riko, or someone like kevin? could he have stopped riko from breaking kevins hand? could he have saved jean from his abuse, or would he have been apart of it? that's the part that's difficult - if he'd grown up in his father's world, he would've grown up into his father. and neil does not like that side of himself. he does not like that he has the capacity for evil. he's scared of what he is capable of, sometimes, remembering what he inherited from his dad. so would he like to say he would've been different, that he wouldn't've participated in rikos bullshit? yes. can he? no. because he does not know what kind of a person he would've become if he'd grown up under his fathers wing. he's glad that didn't happen, of course, but he does still feel something everytime he thinks about how things would've worked out if he'd followed the path his father intended to put him on.
