so ya turns out a lot of ppl are actually lying abt what the lion's gate portal actually is, and dw i fell victim to this lie a couple days ago too before i learned all this 😵‍💫

so let's start with the myth

myth:

the lion's gate portal is when the sun is in conjunction with sirius in leo

fact:

that is not at all true- i pulled every chart you can imagine to figure out if maybe they were saying it's conjunct in sidereal or something and no, in no chart i pulled was sirius conjunct with the sun at what ppl consider the "peak of the lion's gate portal"

in the tropical zodiac, sirius sits at 14° cancer, and in sidereal it's like 19° gemini- so the sun was actually in conjunction with sirius way back on july 5th and i saw NOBODY putting up a fuss abt that 🤨🤨

so me, having the ancient egypt font of autism, i went and did more research- and i found out that the egyptians actually had a whole ass deity that was the personification of Sirius, that was how important the star was to them-

the goddess was named Sopdet, or Sothis to the greeks- i like the name sothis so we're gonna use that-

so the rising of sirius on the eastern horizon (aka the heliacal rising of sirius) always coincided with the annual flooding of the nile to the Egyptians, so they had a very positive view of the star and goddess, bc they were like "YOOOOO THE SHINY IS BACK IN THE SKY THE FUCKG NILE IS GONNA FLOOD LET'S GOOOOOOO- OUR CROPS ARE GONNA BE SO GOOD 😭😭😭😭"

basically. me personally if i was an Egyptian i would be just as hyped-

sothis was also conflated with isis and anubis, and in the old kingdom she was described as a psychopomp who guided pharoahs through the underworld- eventually she was like entirely subsumed into isis-

there was another god too called Sah, and he was the personification of the orion constellation- sah and sothis had a kid named sopdu, who was also venus aka the morning star-

the Egyptians really liked to blend people together sometimes so eventually Sah was just Osiris, Sothis was just Isis and Sopdu was just Horus-

so they were like "ok but let's give credit to original names hold on-" so they became Osiris-Sah, Isis-Sopdet and Horus-Sopdu 😭😭😭

so we now know how important Sirius was to the egyptians, but what's cool is the greeks thought sirius was kinda garbage and a bad omen bc it coincided with ofc the dog days of summer, and "when men became weak and women became aroused" So i guess it qualifies to be the hot girl summer star 🫡

sirius is also known as our "spiritual sun", so i have a couple theories here

the lion's gate portal itself is on 08/08 every year, that's its peak because that's when the sun hits 15° of leo which is supposedly the peak of the sign-

and ofc it's the sign of the sun's rulership which i do not personally believe but ill get to that in a later tumblr post probably-

so it's special bc it's a cool number (an angel number) and it's sun stuff-

that's what the lion's gate portal Actually Is.

HOWEVER i dont think that that's the Portal itself- i think the real portal the egyptians had on lock-

i think the actual spiritual significance is the heliacal rising of sirius- which i BELIEVE starts in early july or so- probably around the time cancer season starts so maybe mid june- im not too sure but the later half of the year definitely- (update did some more research, july 19th is when sirius becomes visible at dawn- november 23rd it sets when the sun rises, January 3rd it rises when the sun sets so do with that what u will 💔)

so sirius coming up on the eastern horizon is what's cunty, not necessarily the lion's gate thingy that's just a bonus

what the heliacal rising of sirius Does may not affect everyone equally, but i imagine it would bring to light whatever cancer/gemini placements you have in your chart- so for me, i literally have sirius conjunct my ascendant.

and i think it's interesting, maybe just a coincidence or sumn actually cool, that sirius is part of the winter triangle (made up of itself, betelgeuse and procyon) and i have summertime depression 🫡 i get MISERABLE if it's too hot out but the second it starts getting cold???? U have no fucking idea how much energy i have instantly- that first breeze of winter hits and im wired for sound for the rest of the day i am NOT kidding-

👥 Describe your initial concept of a character, and what they’re like now.

Me, beginner writer: okay I gotta write at least a page for this chapter

Me now: uh oh I gotta replan where the chapter will break, this is going to be way longer than 15 pages

I basically ised to write a scene for each chapter, and even then scenes were short because there was mostly action and dialogue and not much else and it moved really fast. I forced myself to slow down, to write at least 3 pages per scene-- and in a certain story structured it so there was 3 scenes per chapter, so each chapter was 10 pages. Somewhere along the line I got better at writing more more more... and Syndicate has 15 page chapters that actually have decent, maybe on the long side, lengthed scenes. And yes, I have to replan whrn things end up taking more than I expected.

🎭 Are there any characters that play a bigger role in the story than initially planned? If so, why?

For Syndicate: yes, Jodi does, but I kinda expected her too. Jodi is first mentioned early on where I picked a random name and used it as a placeholder, saying "Ill change this if I need to later, or use it if I can." From there used Jodi's dissappearance as a slight plot device until I needed to figure out exactly what was going on, when then of course it became a more major part of the plot. But, Im not really surprised shes goin gto be more important, because she was created simply for me to figure out a use for later.

For Second Chance: Korin. Korin was created in the end of the first draft basically as a body and obstacle. When writing Crossed Lines, book 2, he needed an actual character. From there he's become interesting to me, and I'm considering him playing a major role in the future.

⛰ What is a writing skill you used to struggle with a lot more? (Do you come up with endings more easily? Do your descriptions have a better flow?)

I think I'm better at description now yes, I'm also better at knowing if a story has potential, like if it has more than the first inciting incident and can develop into a full thing. And Ive erupted into being good at character development, I'm now obsessed with it and base my entire process around it. Worldbuilding I'm also a bit better at.

1) I apologize for not reading/reblogging any fanfics lately.  I promise, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with anyone, nor with how I feel about your work!  Just wanna make that clear.  Y’all know I fanboy like a motherfucker over here, right?  Right!?  Just makin’ sure.

2) My kiddo’s room is under a massive construction.  I have to haul ass to the Portland area tomorrow to get some adapters and couplings for some corrugated pipes that-... never mind.  Long story.  Basically, a lotta reworking the drainage to divert the water, cuz as of tomorrow night, we have a winter storm.  I gotta try and beat the clock like... pronto!

3) I’m undertakin’ a big writing project and will be changin’ a lotta stuff up on my old profile as well as this one.  I’m gonna move all of my gifs and pics from what WAS the bound2becharming-archive page but is NOW @houseofdax (url change) over to my @untamedfaceclaims page, that way everyone still has access to things.  I’m changing my prior page to a similar storyboard/inspo page location for another set of books I’ll be workin’ on.  

In the midst of that, I’ll be makin’ private side-blogs both there, and here, for each book that I’m workin’ on. I’m attempting to organize everything and it’s kinda pullin’ a lotta my time.  Sorry about all of that.

4) Still tryin’ to contact my gastro/radiology doc to talk about my gallbladder/stomach stuff and get all of my health crap figured out.  Still no news, cuz they keep puttin’ me on hold for over an hour and then hang up on me. *insert eye roll  here*

5) Meanwhile, I’m tearing down the walls of my daughter’s room, pullin’ up the carpet, will be reframing the interior walls, having foundation jackhammered and just... tryin’ not to lose my mind, pretty much.  On top of that, I gotta dig up the backyard and put in a stabilizing cement wall to keep erosion from happening with all this.  Good news is, we’re still under $10,000 USD with my guys takin’ the lead on this so... savin’ some money.  And with me doin’ internal and external demo myself, but... ya know.  Busy days.

Anyhow, that’s what’s up.  I’m still alive.  Just busy af and tryin’ to keep from goin’ batshit.  Lol!  I miss all y’all, but I’m not tryin’ to ignore anyone.  I promise.  I may still be just loadin’ the queue and likin’ a couple random posts here and there over the next few weeks, but I’ll do what I can, where I can.  I know, I still owe y’all with supportin’ your works and I still fully intend on keepin’ my word so... just wanna make sure y’all know I haven’t forgotten you.  Just been hella busy, is all.

the priory of the orange tree by samantha shannon!! yes this book is like 800 pages yes i did read half of it in like a week. i also didnt realize there was gonna be so many gays goin in and boy was i extremely pleasantly surprised

obligatory inclusion of a reading i did for class, but la vida es sueño by calderón de la barca honestly kinda kicks ass, i did a whole paper on one the soliloquies in there and the verse is just good y’all

oh also gender trouble by judith butler which i read a good bit of for my theory class and lives rent free in my brain at this point

and i moved across the country and live in an apartment now! and i have so many plants! and a full size bed! and a desk and a bookshelf!

oh shit i almost forgot this was the year i finally got an adhd diagnosis! and now im all medicated and shit its fucking amazing

and i’ve started writing a lot more! not just papers for class and stuff, but also some more fiction which maybe i’ll actually finish one day lmao

its been a busy fuckin week for this mod my ladz!!! i thought i would just give an end of week run down how everything is going, everything added so far and my to do list! also discord!!! and patreon!!! but i’ll talk abt that after this!! a general run down if u dnt know what this wip mod is:

The Royalty Mod gives your sims the opportunity to being the reigning Monarch of your game. They have the chance to become a Beloved Ruler or a Despised Tyrant (and will be treated as such!) They will be completely in control of a custom tax system, will the be benevolent and keep the taxes low or be greedy and fill their coffers with their subject’s simoleans? Be careful though, your actions will affect your citizens and their views of you! Your Monarch will be the most important piece of the puzzle, as they will be able to give titles to family and friends... or even a random street vendor. Having your Monarch bestow titles such as Crown Royals, Royal Partners, Servants, Court Wizards and more, keeps you out of CAS and IN your game! No more stopping and starting your gameplay!

A general overview of everything included so far:

Monarch: - A custom Heir system: Your Monarch can choose anyone bestowed with the title of Crown Royal or Royal Partner to become the next in line to the throne! And if they decide they made a mistake, the Heir can be disowned :((( sad lyfe As soon as the Monarch passes away, the Heir will automatically claim the throne! - If your Monarch dies before they get a chance to name an heir, then any Crown Royal or Royal Partner can vie for the throne. Whoever the people choose (gets to reputation level 6 - very good) first, will become the next Monarch! - Teens and up can become the Monarch, (lookin at u edward the 6th) - Custom tax system! Raise taxes to get more money instantly and in your weekly tax collection, but incur the ire of your subjects! Lower taxes and you will lose money and earn less each week but your subjects will love you! - Your Monarch will draw a crowd wherever they go! Even with no fame points they’ll attract a mass of adoring onlookers. (But no paparazzi for my historical players) - Make world-wide decrees - Listen to your subjects pressing concerns by telling your Trusted Advisor that you will hold a hearing, get that gud gud karma!! - Make anyone a Crown Royal! - Make the land celebrate your own birthday with a new Monarch’s Birthday tradition, with custom goals to be met! - Don’t walk like the rest of these peasants, make sure to enable your royal stride to royally stand out from the crowd. Not enough? Enable your regal glow to really drive home that you’re better than everyone else! - Royal greetings! - Allow your subjects to commence Sunday trading on a lot with the Market lot trait! Townies will come and man the stalls every sunday 9-3 and the royal family can peruse and purchase to their hearts content! -probably more that im forgetting!!!

Heirs, Crown Royals & Royal Partners: - Titles are bestowed by the monarch, crown royals & heirs can be titled at birth and Royal Partners can be titled after marriage! - Both can be named as Heir, and both can vie for the throne if the Monarch dies unexpectedly! - Your Monarch can make anyone a Crown Royal, so if you gameplayed that your Monarch adopted a poor orphan kid, then they can have a shot at the throne too! - All have multiple different social and skill modifiers, so they can make new friends fast and be better at everything than them! - Also all have their own socials - ALSO all can be completely banished from the royal family - u can defo marry into the royal family if u wanted, and make ur peasant family the next gen of royals ;))) - loads more but im so tired

Trusted Advisor: - Your Monarch will choose their trusted advisor! they advice! u on stuff! so choose wisely! - everything about taxes, beginning situations, domestic affair (and planning to add LOADS more) goes thru ur advisor, just like it does in real life and by real life i mean i think i just made that up - way more 2 come bros

1. Why I like them I honestly really dig wanda’s powers and have a lot of intrigue into her backstory. I know they changed it a LOT from the comics - but in terms of taking MCU wanda purely on her own merit then I think having an avenger actually come from a Hydra background is such an interesting arc. And I love how they don’t really shy away from just how powerful she is. 

2. Why I don’t I think the movies really didn’t go into her character and motivations enough. Plus, the whitewashing really isn’t great. 

3. Favorite episode (scene if movie) Age of Ultron, when she decides to go straight for unleashing the hulk. lovely bit of planning and a very heart pounding moment

4. Favorite season/movie I think I really liked her in civil war because we got to see wanda out of the battlefield, yknow? we got to dwell on who she is and how she acts when she’s not fighting people. 

5. Favorite line “Sooner or later, every man shows himself”

6. Favorite outfit Age of Ultron again. Love that kind of gothy look she had goin on

7. OTP Wandavision! Those two are adorable together. 

Brotp Wanda and Scott? Idk I just really enjoyed their little “I know you too, you’re great” interaction and I think more time together could prove to be funny cause theyre so contrasting in terms of vibes

Head Canon Wanda using her magic for every day things? We love to imagine it! Pouring tea from a pot, turning pages of books, all of the above. 

Unpopular opinion I don’t think erasing magneto from MCU wanda’s story is a big deal. Erasing her romani heritage, yes that’s very much a big deal. But x men was owned by fox at the time and there wouldn’t be much opportunity for a cross over when she was brought in. 

A wish Deviating out of MCU wanda for a second, I would’ve really liked to see an iteration of scarlet witch in X Men: Dark Pheonix. I think it would’ve been a neat time to bring a version of her in and it would’ve been a good chance to cast a romani actress

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen I’d really like to see wanda and vision actually get a happy ending. Also unpopular opinion x2, but I really hope they actually give her a more plausible reason for breaking the dang universe in wandavision
